Speaker 1 (00:02):
Say, okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Vikings beat the Bears, Falcons beat beat, beat the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
What are you laughing at? What's up? Sewn Hey, tripley,
what are y'all laughing at?
Speaker 5 (00:35):
I laughing at my Raiders?
Speaker 6 (00:36):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I promise I got some problems.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Man.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
You know that what it says, do you? Yeah? No way,
Triple he rolled up in here, talk about you get
your house. This is one dude. When you talk about
the Raiders, I just fall into a comical because my Raiders, Dude,
that's been my team since I was born. I got
(01:00):
news for you. They can't beat anybody. But what a
bar burner fifteen to nine say explosive offenses Desmond Ridder
through nine thirty nine times for the Raiders and only
amassed two hundred and eight yards. I mean they're load
Kirk Cousins on the other side, eleven for seventeen hundred
and twelve yards.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
All right, he looks terrible. Yeah, it's been explosive, man.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
My Vikings are winning, but uh, Triple he came in here, throwing,
throwing damn here, throwing hands on you with this prediction
that asked, whoo would you'd take it happened if we
had like cage fights in the building. Bruh to peel
a curtain back for you listeners.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
That was actually a conversation at five point fifty in
the morning.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Oh well, dude, I'm still laughing. I just waking up
watching you, thinking about you, just thinking that.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Boo boo, boom boom. That's it's wrong with you. Tripley.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
You got buddy on? You got buddy on, Gordy Morny
or over. I think he walked bolted here, dude, and
Matt Thomas opened up a can on. You keep talking.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
About his dog. We got a seven.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
I called him the old car, his rolling bag. Did
you sweat his ass for every day? What is wrong
with you? He's looking at you like there's nothing wrong.
There are nothing wrong with him.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Oh hell, I just want to get him a new
damn bag. Well that should be Christmas, dude.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
I wait, I told him that a couple of days ago.
I don't want to get Maddie looks at you like
you're an absolute cloud. But you sweat his bag so
when he walks in and he looks like, what you
gotta upset? The other day he's like, what is wrong
as my bag?
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I got it two years ago. It's a perfectly good bag.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
And it is a perfectly good bag. You sweat is
nuts so bad over? Oh wait, one of these times,
Maddy's gonna wheel on your ass. Boom boom. He just
he just throws a combo, leaps and right said, you
get your ass handed way and then it's Mike dropping
dumps his roller.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Back, just the rolling back on me.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
There's no way, oh I needed those laughs, man, I
uh yeah, oh man, there's no way. I'll tell you what.
Good morning? What happened to you?
Speaker 7 (03:27):
Man?
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Who thinks about the stupid ass stuff I think about?
Speaker 1 (03:33):
I don't know? Man? And I did.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
I said, well, you know you gotta open up a
can of your ass?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
What?
Speaker 5 (03:40):
Oh man? Well triple. When I walked into the studio
this morning, Sean was like dead ass series When he
said it to me too, like he wants it, laughing
like now, oh no. I was like, you know you're
gonna waltz up, waltz in here one day and you're
just gonna get you. I can't wait to see you
get your ass kick Maddie ball game. Oh man, oh
(04:02):
good gracious, you know I was also thinking football. You
know the Vikings what lost twice this year? Right, yeah,
twelve and two. Have you seen what Jonathan Garnard has
done for them? Be well, be unbelievable. It's incredible. It worked,
the trade worked out perfect foot ball, so it really did,
yeah for the Vikings in the Texans because I don't
want to give the Neil Hunter back to you, but
we always said Gernard every year he's healthy. H his
SAX totals have gone up. He's a he would an addition,
(04:25):
he's been to them. But the Vikings are twelve and
two and do you nobody on the Nationalist they're They're
and also ran when you talk about Super Bowl contenders, Yeah,
I don't want to really crazy. I mean, aside from
Chase the best, I mean, Jefferson's a freak show.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Right, yep.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
They are twelve and two in the toughest division in
football right now with the three teams that literally, you
tell me if the Packers and Jordan Love going to
run that they can't win the whole thing. Do you
see their offense on Sunday Night against the God and
he's a playmaker.
Speaker 8 (04:58):
Man.
Speaker 9 (04:59):
They're good enough to do this, and they are right
now sitting in a position, depending on the end, they
could have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
And I just think about that last night. I think,
and Donald's played his ass off. And if you're the Vikings,
you don't. The plan was Sam Donald for a year
and then turn it over to McCarthy and find a backup,
which is right now, Daniel Jones, Right, you can't. You
can't let Donald go. No, because McCarthy coming off an injury.
You're not sure exactly, and I'm sure Daniel Jones wants
(05:31):
to go somewhere and play.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
You're not sure that McCarthy.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
And he'll be really basically a rookie because he's getting
no snaps as a rookie, so he's going to be
playing as a rookie basically, even though it's the second year.
You can't let a guy go who should be in
the Pro Bowl. Yeah, Donald said Donald. I mean he's
not going to be as guddy as I mean. It's
over the MVP talk. But when you go through the
best quarterbacks in the NFC, this year, Donald's been one
of them.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
And the way they can run it with Jones and
we know they can pass it. Their defense is gets
after it. I'm telling you, man, twelve and two and
we just kind of how many wins the last time
a twelve and two team like this we didn't talk about.
Maybe it's because Detroit's twelve with the excitement and the thrills,
(06:16):
but I can't remember a team being twelve and two
and us just kind of people just kind of sticking
them on the back. Whurn. They're like, well, it's not
gonna happen. Well, it's fourteen games in and they may
be at home throughout the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
And the way Donald's protecting the ball for the most part,
they then they make plays every week and O'Connell's got
them going.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
So excuse me.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
I was just thinking about that, And I think about
at the beginning to see when McCarthy got her and said,
oh we're gonna start Sam Donald, how many people panicked
and now look at the guy. But you can't you
can't just say okay one year and he goes now
is the starting quarterback somewhere else? And if you're Donald,
the way it's worked to rejuvenate your career. You don't
want to leave right now. No, helly, they've welcomed you.
You're kicking ass. The offense fits here, there's confidence they
(06:59):
they got to pay you know what they're gonna do.
You franchise him. While it's a bummer for him, it
sucks for the player job security. Well, what it is
is I figured that the average average value will end
up being like thirty between thirty seven and forty mili
next year, but it'd be one year. You just don't
get all the guarantee men, right, you get paid in
the top five of the average you know, yearly value
(07:22):
for people at your position, and that would be pushing
forty million bucks. And while it's not three years or
four years for fifty million a year and two hundred
million and one hundred and fifty guaranteed, one more year
like that and it will be yeah, one more year
like this year. And Darnold, who's playing like he's the
third pick of the draft now, which which people expecting
to play when he came out of Southern cal he
(07:42):
will get paid. So if you're in Minnesota, you want
to protect yourself saying, well, we got McCarthy, but we
don't know if he's healthy, we're really good. How do
you let a twelve and two quarterback walk? Yeah, for
a rookie who who's I think is going to be
a really good player, but who's coming off an injury,
and we'll have not taken a snap as a rookie.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
So you've got to You've got to sign him.
Speaker 9 (08:01):
But you you franchise him, you know why, because you're
even thinking, well, let's let's make we got to I
think we got our long term guy and learned long
term guy McCarthy, But damn, let's franchise him for one year,
keep him into the fray not knowing and if he
does it again, then we'll be faced with an even
more difficult decision. Do we move on from him and
let him go somewhere else for sixty million because if
he has another season like this, the way quarterback things go,
(08:22):
he'll be in the fifty five to right the fifty
five million dollar range. Yeah, So that is amazing how
how it shifts. The guy was a journeyman. He's becoming
a journeyman in the league. But people still believed in
his arm strength, his his arm talent. San Francisco before
he got there, right, and O'Connell obviously being in that
(08:44):
system from the pack, you know, with McVeigh and that
group drafted by the Jets's yeah, I was drafted by
the Jets, went to Carolina with San Francisco, and he
just became like a well, Darnold's about one bad season
away from being out of the league.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
That's you hear people talk. But the experts at watching
never gave up on him because he's got great arm talent.
And I guarantee you O'Connell called, uhh Shanahan who loved
him when he came at a sc and this guy
can play, well, I'll be damned, he sure can, right,
And here it is. So that's just I was thinking
about that. So it can happen for anybody, It really can.
(09:18):
I mean, and look look what, look what he's done.
Because I think they felt like we were in trouble at
that position. We had a guy who's got potential. We
don't know how it's going to turn out, right, and
so the irony of the craziness of football, and Darnold
never complain, stayed the course, and here he is and
he'll get rewarded for it somewhere. So I was just
thinking about how disrespected when I say disrespected, the lack
(09:41):
of enthusiasm for Vikings at a twelve and two team
that with two three wins, and then you know, they
get to fourteen and two and Detroit loses another game.
They're they're they're or in Philly or what have you.
They're they're gonna be They're gonna have home field avanshout
the playoffs. Yeah, what it's going to come down to
is if you look at the NFC North, you have
the Detroit Lions leading in at twelve and two, Vikings
at twelve and two, Green Bay at ten and four.
(10:04):
Vikings and Lions play in the last game of the
regular season, and there's a chance that if if it
all kind of hangs how it is, there will be
a decision where or not a decision, but that game
will decide the number one seed or the number five seed.
(10:24):
There's a chance where the Lions and the Vikings play
each other, whoever wins gets the one seed homefield advanced
throughout and the other.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
One gets the second.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
About this, you could, which is insane, they could actually
both be fourteen and two preparing for that game, the
loser could be fourteen and three and the five seed. Yeah, yep,
because obviously the way they do it, the four division
winners and then the wild cards, we have three wild cards. Yeah,
can imagine that. Hey, how'd you do this year?
Speaker 10 (10:51):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (10:51):
We were fourteen to three. Damn you must have had
home field advanced about the playoffs. No, we were the
wild card. It was a wild card and we had
to go.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
We were on the.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Road throughoutotentially throughout, and we got to go on the
we go on upsets exactly right. Their division is stupid.
It's it's really good, man. Their division is ridiculous. And
I never get coached right, and Caleb Williams turns out.
I'm just telling you that they they are. There's some
good players in that building. Yeah, think about to you.
(11:21):
Let's say Kayleb Williams ends up being it ends up
performing like the first pick of the draft in the
next three year, two years. How how good is this division? Yeah,
it's arguably the best of football.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Oh my goodness, are you kidding me?
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yeah, I mean you're talking about and we've seen this,
but the way that the top guys and listen at
ten and four is the Packers. I'm going to tell
you right now, you blink and they'll beat the Vikings
in the in the Lions at home or away. That
that ten and fourth, that's how good they are. Tough
ast Division, somebody's going to go home early and you're
(11:55):
gonna think, damn, that team's far better than that. Yeah,
and you look the lines. They have twenty guys on
ir I, one T and they keep and two more.
Now they got to rely on. Gibbs is going to
have to get a majority of the work now and
nobody gets the edge quicker than him. So just thinking
about that night, we got a lot of Texans talk,
I know today and we obviously have the Bregman watch
on to win. Is that trigger going to get pulled here?
(12:17):
Nolan aaron Otto was training on Twitter. I haven't seen why,
but just to add to you know, other things that
we need to talk about. Oh, it's because the MLB Network,
that's right, Like IM put in our notes, MLB Network
talked about the Astros master plan. So we'll hear that
audio later on in the show. I think at some
point do we have omarv as skel joining the show.
I know yesterday we were trying to get him at
(12:39):
a he can tye he think his glove was any good?
Speaker 1 (12:42):
It was okay? How many gold gloves? He went? About
twelve forty?
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Yeah, I felt like it. I'm hoping we have him
on either the eight o'clock or nine o'clock I but
we'll keep you updated. Yeah, So we've got tons to
get into a lot of Texans talk. They clinch their division,
so what's next for these Texans? Also, they're taking on
Patrick Mahomes weekend if he plays the Saturday game short week.
Let's discuss that next right here on sports Stock seven to.
Speaker 10 (13:05):
Eighty, going non stop with former QB Sean.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Salisbury, Memphis coming in at number twenty five. Who's playing
the Memphis t Grays, the Tigers and who else? The
West Virginia Mountaineers. You may to put some respect, man,
on on their name. On who's on Marshall, I mean
not Marshall Rshall we are? Yeah, No, on Memphis with
some respect on him. Man.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
They're number twenty five in the nation.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
That's what I'm saying. Do you got any respect? Have
you ever you ever been to that coffee Scooter's Coffee? No,
I was drove by one yesterday. They're everywhere. Yeah, like
the little the little there in woodlands, right there in
like parking lots.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
You're out of my my crib.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Yeah around okay, putting some uh putting my man Maybury Matoyer,
through some you know, little off season holiday, putting through
some workouts, making right casters it is through okay, a
little early for that, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Do he have receivers with him?
Speaker 5 (14:05):
He had a spot catcher yesterday. Nobody running routes, but
we worked fundamentals and mechanics. Uh you he transferring and
turn into transfer portal as we speak right now, he's
at Wisconsin. Oh, he's in Wisconsin. So you know I
lost Phil long.
Speaker 9 (14:22):
Ago, do that and it's you know, he's obviously is
uh just finished his freshman year. So a lot going
on and uh, exciting times in Madison, but they you know, change.
This is that type of season where coaches are moving
around just like players are.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
If there's ever a weekend you wanted to watch nothing
but football, it's this weekend. The schedule is crazy and
shame on the NFL. Shame on the NFL throwing games
on Saturday, yes, knowing it's the college football playoffs. First
Saturday of the twelve team college football playoffs and you
want to put a couple of games on Saturday. Here's
(14:58):
the problem, though, NFL's doing this forever. I know they have.
Speaker 9 (15:01):
That was gonna be basically kind of college is impeding
on them. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
But the truth is with these playoffs, it ain't gonna hurt.
People's eyes are going to them. Yeah, there's no doubt.
It's gonna suck though, because for me, Texans play on Saturday,
and then I believe it's SMU and their bowl game
or excuse me, in their playoff game. Let me double
check later on ye Saconday, SMU and Penn State kickoff
(15:30):
at eleven am, and then uh Clemson in Texas at
three pm, and then Tennessee Ohio State at seven pm.
What about the Ponies?
Speaker 10 (15:37):
Man?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
You feel good about the Ponies SMU?
Speaker 5 (15:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I think SMU is gonna win that game.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
I hope you're right. I mean, it's gonna be tough
going to Penn State. Plus I think it's gonna be
like twenty five degrees. So yeah, that's a one way
in and one way out of Happy Valley. That's gonna
be tough. But you know what, we're gonna find out
just just how good SMU really is this year. They
look pretty damn good in their quarterbacks, a playmakers. So
and then you look on let's see Saturday, You've got
(16:06):
Texans and Kansas City that's at noon, so they should
be wrapping up by the time Texas starts. And then
Pittsburgh at Baltimore three point thirty.
Speaker 10 (16:17):
Good.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Saturday and Sunday are righteous this week. It's pretty crazy that.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
I love it all that these four teams that are
playing on Saturday all have the same schedule, meaning they
both all four of these teams play on Saturday, and
they turn around and got to play on Christmas Day.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I wonder why they did that.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
I don't know, but uh they I mean it'll test
you physically, let alone mentally. You know, imagine preparing for
three teams in ten days and then physically happen to
be ready to go. It's craziness. Huh Yeah, it's a
pretty wild, man, pretty wild. But there's plenty plenty to
go around this. If you're a if you're a betting man,
or if you just want to watch some football this weekend,
(16:57):
there's a lot stand.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
See, you got to stand on business. You have to.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
I mean, if you ain't standing on business, you ain't
got no chance to win the playoff. And oh, by
the way, the playoffs start Friday night. Indiana Notre Dame.
Speaker 9 (17:12):
What an end state rivalry that is, huh not a rivalry,
but with that game just the end state you know,
once considered a basketball school, the others considered a football
you know, is iconic and one of the most historic programs,
if not the most historic program in college football history, and.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
They get to go against each other. I do like this.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
That's this regional thing is Hey, man, if you're in Indiana,
who's your football player? You're like, some of those guys
who never walked walks were getting recruited by Notre Dame.
Now they get to go play them. I'm talking about
in football, right, And there may be someone in Notre
Dame's always you know, been competitive in basketball and we
know about IU obviously the history there, but you think
about that some of these guys probably grew up I
(17:54):
want to play Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, I mean that.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
You know, Notre Dame is one of those national universities
that can get people from far and wide to go
there because it's Notre Dame. And you know how it
is if you grew up and you were an Irish Catholic,
or you're just a kid who grew up at the
school a public school and and no religion involved, or
no you know where you're from, but you grew up
in the state of Indiana. It's Indy out of hoops
and Notre Dame football football, right, And so if you're
(18:17):
you know, good enough to get recruited your Division one recruit,
and you're like, well, Indiana recruited me, but why isn't
Not Dame recruit me? There's that feeling of damn. You know,
guys happens all the time in states. I mean, didn't
Drew Brees want to go to ut Yeah, well he
has A and M as well, right, because it wasn't
even when.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
A and MS like why are you wearing? What are
you doing? He's from Austin? What breeze is?
Speaker 11 (18:40):
Right?
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Right?
Speaker 1 (18:41):
But you went to Purdue, right, So don't get recruited so.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
You are there, there's that special I wish I would
have because I'd like to, you know, play against him.
So there'll be kids on that field that says man.
Notre Dame didn't recruit me, So I got a bone
to pick, right, it'll make for great And you know
that that damn head coach Signette's gonna play for the hilt.
Of course then he should.
Speaker 9 (19:00):
And the truth is Indiana doesn't have to go in
that game afraid.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Now you got to go in there and play. They
got a chance, they're a legitimate chance. I hope Indiana
boat racism there. It'll be fun to watch want boat race.
But I hope they don't. Like you said, we got
meaningful football games. We're playing for home field advantage. The
Texans are posed with a interesting problem here, as are
the Chiefs. If you're the Chiefs, are you playing for
home field advantage and risking Mahomes throughout? If he's not
(19:28):
fully healthy, are you say let's go with Wendsy you
gotta call him Carson? Here you got If you're going
with Carson Wentz, are you willing to sacrifice possibly if
you don't win this going on the road, I mean,
depending on how it turns out and having to play Buffalo,
you don't.
Speaker 9 (19:46):
If I'm Andy, I don't want a part of that.
Hell No, I think it's important. So if you're Mahomes
and you're close to being healthy. Don't you need to play?
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Yes, considering because if you're Buffalo, you're like, I don't
want to go Camp City. And on the other side,
for the Texans, the Joe Mixon situation, how healthy will
he be? What do you play? I mean, if you're
the Texans, Okay, so you're you got your You're you
got one spot solidified, right man, You're you're playing for
You're always playing for something, it's appears, But do you
(20:15):
say we're in if Joe's eighty five percent can go,
do you say we're in? We we already secured the division.
It's more important having him healthy as to post it.
They're both faced with that this week for different reasons.
Because the Texans obviously and get home field advantage. But
however it works out, you know, well, they're gonna host them,
they're gonna host the playoff game regards that's my point. Yeah,
(20:35):
so you say we're getting one, more than likely we're
going to be going on the road anyway after that.
So in truth, other than confidence and testing yourself against
the best, if you're secured a home game by being
the division winner and more than likely with your record,
there's a pretty solid chance that you're going to be
ended up going on the road because you're not catching
Kansas City or buff You know what I'm saying. How
(20:57):
are you playing this? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Hey, nine and nine and eight doesn't look real good?
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Right, nine and seven doesn't mean you want it, but
doesn't feel good. You need to feel good feeling or
need mixing healthy. I don't know how severe he is.
Are going to be right pretty quick, healer stuff. I
just said. Both are faced with an injury decision for
different reasons. Yeah, and Dimiko Rymes was asked about that yesterday.
We've got that audio and we will hear the head
coach for the Texans discuss that. And we've got tons
(21:24):
more to get into when it comes to these Texas
Derek Stingland Junior making the case to be the best
corner in the league. Will Patrick Mahomes play. It's a
lot to get into. Let's get to break. We'll talk
about Demiko Ryan's next four suck seven to eighty.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect
gift and you could be giving follow la la la, la,
la la la, lots of cash. Right, So give holiday
scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could make
very holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(21:57):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's the perfect gift.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and
make their holiday very special. That's the Texas Lottery. The
Sewan Salisbury Show continues the lines, John, What's happened this morning?
Speaker 12 (22:17):
Good morning guys. Hey, I wanted to chime in on
the Vikings. I mean, you know that I grew up
in Minnesota, and you know, the Texans are my team,
but the Vikings are right up there, and I'm hoping
that I mean, if the Texans don't make it, I
hope that this is the magical year for the Vikings
to finally break through. They've been at the Big Dance
four times. But yeah, you know, I'm just really impressed.
(22:38):
I think Kevin O'Connell is a legitimate choice to be
considered Coach of the Year, considering what he did with
Donald and how that team is doing so well. I mean,
the way he's pieced that thing together and the way
the Vikings are playing. You know, he'd be my vote
for be Coach of the Year. And Sean you remember
that division, that North Division that used to be called
(23:00):
the Black and Blue Division, you know back in the seventies. Yeah,
you know you had Alice Carris, you know, with the
Detroit Lions. I mean those teams, you know, Dick Buckets
for the Chicago Bears. I mean, those teams are just
beat Those are brutal games. I mean, those teams that
just beat the heck out of no doubt.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
And it was outdoors, outdoors, and you know, and and
it was in the you know Metropolitan Stadium where the
you know where the Mall of America is now, the
old met bud Great wouldn't even let those guys wear
gloves to practice in. I mean they were tough, tough
as hell, you know that.
Speaker 12 (23:34):
Yeah, he said cold, is this a state of mind?
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (23:38):
But you know, that division, though.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Is really impressive.
Speaker 12 (23:41):
I mean it's got good young coaches. You know, you
got Kevin O'Connell, you got Matt Lafleur, and then of
course Dan Campbell and and you will see who the
Bears end up with. But I mean that that division,
the way it's evolved and everything. I mean, it's just
it's just been a great division and and uh but
it's a standout division in this time in football, no doubt.
(24:02):
You know next year it's going to be brutal. But yeah,
I don't forget. You know, Jim Marshall two and two
consecutive games. I don't think that'll ever be challenged.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Phenomenal at that position, to play that many straight games.
You know, Paige and Eller gets so much of the credit.
Jim Marshall was a phenomenal football player, you know, John,
I I don't see how I'm thinking. Okay, you could
give it to Dan Campbell, but we knew Detroit was
going to be really good. Yeah, player Coach of the Year,
you could give it to Andy Reid. You give to
him every year. You can give it to Mike Tomlin.
(24:33):
Did a great job, Sirianni to get his team back.
But in truth, when you really look at it, considering
you had no real starter, at least you didn't know
going in, you draft McCarthy, You had to make some
moves in the off sea and you got rid of
to Neil Hunter. It's worked out because Grenard and that
group are playing well, but in truth, and you're in
the toughest division in the NFL right now, Kevin O'Connell
(24:54):
should be the leading candidate for NFL Coach of the
Year at twelve and two agree he should be.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Agree what he's done is just.
Speaker 9 (25:01):
And mcderm McDermott's gonna get some love too because they
lost some players right in the way that Josh Allens played.
But I mean there's five guys or eight guys you
can give to. You say, Okay, I'm in on that,
But if O'Connell wins it, there should be nobody complaining
about that.
Speaker 13 (25:14):
I agree, I agree, but yeah, I just want to
weigh in on that.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
You know, it's it's going to be interesting.
Speaker 12 (25:19):
It's going to be a heck of a playoffs, I think,
and uh, you know, we'll see what happens. And uh, anyways,
I just wanted to chime in on that. It's uh,
I you know, I enjoyed watching that game last night,
and you know, I hope it would be the Vikings
magical year. But I mean, of course, you know, I
first vote for the you know, root for the Texans,
But I mean, if the Texans can't make it. I
hope this's the Vikings turn fire, absolutely and and we'll
(25:43):
see you know, so I just want yeah, I just
wanted to chime in on that.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Thanks, guys, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Let's so let's hear from Demiico Ryans.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
He talked about the division being sewn up and what's
next as they get ready to take on the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yeah, for us, we're still take it one week at
a time.
Speaker 14 (25:58):
Even though we've cla started the AFC South, it still
doesn't change our approach and we line up and play.
We're still trying to improve as a football team in
all areas and try to play our best ball, you
know when playoff time hit. So we're trying to still improve,
still do our best.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Take it one week at a time, Sean love it.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
Yeah, I mean that's what you got to do, got
to I don't know if you can take it more
than one week at a time, but that's what you
have to do.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Probably one play at a time.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
Yeah, one interview at a time, one snap at a time. Yep.
I mean probably, and you probably give it. If it
was me, i'd probably try to give it one hundred
and ten percent. Yeah, not one hundred yeah, I mean
you can't you get me. If you're going to really
go to the ends of the ears, you know you
do you get one hundred and ten percent. Yeah, they're
just taking a one week get together. I'll tell you
what's disappointing. If a guy comes out there one night
(26:45):
and says, you know what, I'm going one hundred eight tonight,
you do it? You're on eight on a one tent.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Why are you right? What are you doing with that
two percent?
Speaker 5 (26:57):
I mean, you know, hey, I just say, you know tonight,
I'm if I'm going to one hundred and five.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Yeah, that's five percent less man.
Speaker 9 (27:03):
And what if a guy all the said said I'm
going one hundred five percent and I'm actually taking it
two plays at a time today, would you be disappointed
in it?
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
With my teammate, yeah, he shows up and he says,
you know what, I'm taking it three games at a time.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
He showed up, but he's definitely not showing out.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
Yeah, he decided he show What if he said, you know,
I showed up. I didn't feel like showing out. I
just wanted to show up and do anything. At one
hundred and five percent, he'd be the guy for the
forty nine ers, Davon Campbell or whatever his name is, Well, no,
that guy didn't show up. He didn't give a hundred percent.
He gave zero percent because he decided not to play.
I love how the forty nine ers are just going say, hey,
you know what we're gonna We're gonna suspend you. We're
(27:36):
gonna hold you here so you don't get Fadre Campbell. Yeah,
you don't get to go and be rewarded by another team. Yeah,
we're gonna hold it accountable. You're not gonna go anywhere
this year, and then we'll cut you when it's the times,
right right, But right now, you don't get to go
be rewarded because some desperate team needs a linebacker and
we're gonna go get you. Even though I almost look
at a team say you would go that, that's that's
to me is more black. I don't even know how
(27:57):
you can even look at him in the face in
a locker room. Yeah, but regardless, I just I think
one hundred and five percent is important, don't you. I
think I think if you're gonna go, excuse me, you're
gonna do you know a week by week, game by
game snap by snap, you have to go one hundred
and ten percent? You do, Yeah, well today on this show,
I'm going one oh three. That's all right, one o
(28:19):
three baby one ted, But I think one hundred and three.
What about you for me? Yeah? Oh, I'm one hundred
and ten percent all day, every day. Oh well, if
you said it, you want to say a hundred, you'd
been ten percent shy, Yeah, exactly. Just wanted you to
know that that I'm watching you. I've committed one hundred
and three percent today.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Okay, that's good. They're still over one hundred. It's all right.
I've taken it just right.
Speaker 12 (28:42):
Now.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
I'm gonna I'm gonna play where my feet are. I'm
taking it right. You're gonna play where your feet are. Yeah, Oh,
I'm gonna. I'm gonna wherever my feet are. That's where
I'm going. I'm not thinking about putting my feet anywhere else.
It's one hundred three percent playing where my feet are.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
So you plant your feet in the ground and you
it's home is where the heart is.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
What we cheesed out now, home is where the heart is?
Is that true?
Speaker 1 (29:02):
I don't know, triply is that true?
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Oh? In a sense?
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Is home.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
Really where the heart is? I think? So what happens
if your heart's not into it but your body's there
and that's the that's not home?
Speaker 1 (29:15):
It isn't I mean you're at your your your house.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
So your heart's got to be in it, right, Okay,
because some of these things because that goes, No, doesn't
it all go coincides with given one hundred ten percent? Okay,
you got to give one hundred Tep're not ai a umbrella,
right and if you're not putting your heart into it,
then what are you doing? Then you're not giving a
hundred te percent? So just don't show up or show out? Yeah,
say it all works. And then also because if your
(29:40):
heart's not in it, you're not giving one hundred and
ten percent, you're not home and you want to feel
it home? Right, So that's where the heart is, right,
We got this straight now?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
No, I have no idea where that, but I can
tell you this.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
So I am curious though about the questions about how
what do you do about your place? But you've got
to play them because you ain't starting to rest guys now,
the injured ones, Yes, if you're the Texans, why you
don't want too much time off before you play a
damn game, right, They got to They have to actually
have to think like they're not in the playoffs yet.
Speaker 9 (30:10):
That's the least have to You have to go into
a game. Now you're down there and a guy's banged up.
You say, I'm not letting Stroud take fifteen hits today.
Get him out in this game. You can't just let
him sit well, well, preserve our quarterback for three week. No,
they got to stay in football mode. Yeah, and I questioned,
how far is that?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (30:24):
That, and then you gotta remember they have a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,
three day turnaround to play on Wednesday against the freaking Ravens.
So there's that that aspect of it too. They're given
one hundred and ten percent that day too, are they?
That's what I heard on Christmas. One play at a time.
Huh wow for Sannah, one player he requires that? Does
(30:46):
it takes it one to chimney at a time. You
have the Well, there's no doubt, man, they all listen.
It is all is simpatico. Got good word, good word?
Speaker 10 (30:57):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (30:59):
You think Mahomes plays barely, I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 9 (31:08):
Carson Wentz load up I'm going to say they rest him.
Believe that WinCE he can get a win and then
still be in a position. I don't know, dude.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
I if he's ninety percent or better, he'll he'll play. Yeah,
but if if if he's still walking as gingerly as
he was on Sunday, you you you've got to sit
him and hope that your team's good enough to take
care of their business. Let's so, let's talk a little
more about that when it comes to this game on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
That's next on sports Stalk seven eight.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
You're back.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
This is the Sean Salisbury shown get back at it.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
When when too angry.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
She guts up like a boy. Drewsky had to get
up and leave the set.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Die and laugh and cry. Dude two angry.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
Knows what's wrong with these dudes? I love good podcasts
like this. That's the way life is right. And that's
not like, that's not theo von acting. Oh, that's how
he is right.
Speaker 10 (32:05):
Hell.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
But he'll also go and like the president will show
up and sit next to him. That's what I mean.
He'll he'll do all this and talk about that all
of a sudden he's got the next president, the vice
friends sitting next to his ass on the said I
love guys like this, and he had dudes from he
had not dudes, He had people from both sides. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
On his podcast Democrats Democrats.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Wouldn't you just asked a question. You don't have to
hate people to have money.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I see.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
That's what I've never understood. Politically, I can disagree with
you politically, still have You'll have good laughs with you,
have a great time. That's why I grew up. I
still don't. Hell. Eighty percent of my friends I don't
even know how they vote. I still vote so good pod,
good podcast? Or when you getting everybody involved?
Speaker 1 (32:47):
He got two two dogs that.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Girl coming from Texas and got like two angry dogs.
Oh man, I mean, now that's some stuff right there, dude,
I forget. But that's what's great about podcasts is FCC
doesn't get in your way. No, you can just talk.
(33:16):
And if you if it's a little above your pay
grade when it comes to like the custos, oh well
then just turn it off. That's right. But it's just
it's not for everybody, but it is funny as hell.
It's for me because I'm laughing my ass. I see
I think we need good laughs, like we need to
bring comedy back the way it's I agree, if you're
offended by it, hence the name comedy, it's comedy. Don't
(33:38):
take it so serious if they cross into your religion
or into your race, or into your you know, your
back that you did something. So it's okay, you know,
laugh that's a part of a little yeah, that's right,
what they're supposed to know. I don't mean somebody making
fun of if you lost a loved one. I'm just
talking about true you know what, if you've got a
weakness and the good comedy, you know what they do,
they call you on it and make you laugh. That's
(34:00):
just good comedy. I don't I don't know when we
decided that these guys. I think that's one of the
hardest jobs in the world, making people laugh. Stand in
front of a mic. Now we can all do it
on this show when you can rolling. But I know
about in Mike, when you're these stand up comedians, how
they roll through it and just boom. But it's with
such an art and such a skill set. And I
don't care how I mean, we've all you could. Matter
(34:23):
of fact, I find it a badge of honor to
be when they when they go out, like when they're
making fun of people, means they love you.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Yeah, thinking about you.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
I just I'm going to tell you right now, there's
not one ounce of comedy that offends me. You know,
comedy offends me, boring comedy that so you're picking on
ones that just have let it rip, yeah, and quit
cowtowing down to the people who are, oh, you can't
say that, we'll cancer now, screw you. A matter of fact,
those who wanted to cancer, guess what we've canceled, canceled that.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
That's the way it's going to cancel.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Cancel. Let the Chappelle's do what they do, make us
laugh our ass off when we want to cry, legitimately
cry because you're going through difficult times and didn't make
you laugh your ass off till you cry. That's what
we need back Carling Style and and Murphy and and
you know all of them, and Dave Richard prior. Yes,
when they offended the living hell out of everybody, and
(35:14):
they if they offended you still laughed and it was
all everything's okay, Yeah, it's all funny. It's gonna be fine. Yeah,
And they're they're they're like geniuses too. When the Sandlers
and the ship when they get rolling, it's like you
guys do That's what I want to know. I'm so
impressed with how they do their art. Man is seven
one three two five seven. What's happening to? John?
Speaker 13 (35:37):
Was cracking button?
Speaker 1 (35:39):
What's up?
Speaker 13 (35:40):
He ain't not to mind another day on the dollar?
She won't? Me and my wife done came in my office,
fellas snuck up in here home man?
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Okay, oh what is this a show?
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Brother?
Speaker 12 (35:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:55):
What are we doing?
Speaker 10 (35:56):
You like what?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
You and she are?
Speaker 5 (35:59):
You and your officer of sleeping? You guys?
Speaker 1 (36:02):
What Johnny?
Speaker 13 (36:03):
I'm in the office here in the office, okay, Well,
making sure trying to get out of town.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Okay, well when are you ever in town?
Speaker 13 (36:12):
You know? Man? People look people, Hey, I've had some
customers asking me this, and I've said it before, and
let me let me throw it out there for the
cheap seats. Me and Brian just loved rag on each other,
so we.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
Worried, do you're seriously you don't like each other? People
really said that? People really think that a couple of
people have asked you.
Speaker 13 (36:31):
Yeah, a couple of people ask me, Hey, man, do
you really? You and Brian really? I don't like I'm like, no, man,
someone just like to take on one another like brothers.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Yeah, like what, it's crazy. It's silly. That is silly.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
It's one of my favorite one of my one of
my favorite pastimes, John is is messing with you.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Honestly.
Speaker 13 (36:53):
Make sure you make sure you go get your lift
in today.
Speaker 5 (36:55):
And once you lift these on your forehead, what do
you say, did you say, lift up these dusts? Yeah? Yeah,
I got it, Brian, Yeah, chestnuts roasting on an open
fire or your face either way, yeah, exactly forehead.
Speaker 13 (37:17):
But no getting up from a wedding. I never seen
somebody go to four weddings and.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Not get a pair of panties to bring back. No
game talking big you' saying be careful. I was about
don't do it.
Speaker 13 (37:36):
I was gonna do it though. Hey check it out, man.
A couple of things somebody said yesterday. I heard somebody.
Speaker 14 (37:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 13 (37:41):
I think it was on that stupid I don't know,
uh the uh yeah, people are sitting there, dude. Don't
nobody want to play Buffalo right now? I don't care
if we did beat Buffalo. You don't want to play
Buffalo right now, Nobody wants to play dude, Josh Allen
is playing on another level right now. That defense, they're
(38:02):
just they're very, very dangerous for the AFC. It's it's
really And then you know my homes being out and
with him whining and crying about three games in ten days. Well,
if I'm not mistaken, I think I know it's the Texans,
the Chiefs, and also my.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
Steelers, Steelers and Ravens.
Speaker 13 (38:27):
Yeah, so you know my homes, quit your kermit the
frog pissing and moaning and just shut up and sit
on the bench for the weekend, you know you. But
you know, watching a game against the Dolphins, the defense
really did a great job on shutting down all the speed.
The only thing that's concerning to me as I was
(38:48):
watching the game was, I mean, the line just is
still the line is just it's just it's bad. I
Mean they were one place CJ was hit by four
guys at one time, and looking and the look on
his face, I'm concerned about the young man because his
his confidence is just not there. And I guess because
(39:12):
obviously when you're getting pounded on like he's been getting
pounded on, you just lose confidence in your offensive line.
I mean I looked on the sideline there and you know,
one shot showed him and he was just like Jesus man,
I gotta go. He had that deer in the headlight
looks a couple of times on the sidelines, and it's
a big concern, you know, for Texan fans and in
(39:33):
the organization because it looks like he's about to become
another David Carr. God forbid that happen to the young man.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
When did you see that? What did you do? You
see these happen?
Speaker 13 (39:46):
It was on the I mean it was in probably
the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Yeats And what are you talking about?
Speaker 5 (39:56):
You Stroud and the punishment he's taking it you can
start confidence in the playoffs, I think, yeah, they're talking
about the dudes getting yeah, yeah, I don't you know,
I don't. Hopefully Stroud's played well enough not to lose
the confidence. But I know what John's saying, you got
to keep him upright in the playoffs. That's going to
be the case. And I don't want Johnny. I don't
want to play Buffalo either. If I'm anybody right now,
(40:18):
Thanks a great point, brother, Be safe. I love John
people really worried about YouTube battling. I guess I don't
realize John the soft ass people.
Speaker 9 (40:29):
Yea to the stages. He wasn't talking about people he
worked with, That's what he said.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
He worked with.
Speaker 5 (40:33):
All I thought he said just people. Oh maybe he did.
I better get him up on that roof and get
him rolled.
Speaker 15 (40:39):
Now.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
I thought it was country boys, not soft boys. Whoa, whoa?
Speaker 10 (40:42):
What?
Speaker 5 (40:43):
Man? Get us a break before me and John both
opened up a can before Matt and Gordon's here on
you too.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
That's getting it at seven o'clock. Oh my gosh, it's
getting seven o'clock hour.
Speaker 5 (40:54):
Next it's country with the k Boys with a Z too,
by the way.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
Then iHeart radio station.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
The Astross the Rockets, Rockets Basketball, your home for your
home teams. This is Sports Talk seven ninety Salisbury olsby Houston.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
To usc true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
This is the Sewan Salisbury Show. Here from a Demico Ryans.
He spoke about that in just a.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Minute or two. Vikings beat the Bears, Falcons beat the Raiders.
Both those games last night Monday night, football. You got
some college football tonight, Memphis taking on West Virginia and
the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl up in Frisco near Dallas.
Let's talk Texans. Demiko Ryans was asked about Patrick Mahomes.
Pat Patrick Mahomes banged up with a little bit of
(41:59):
an ankle injury.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Will he play? Well, this is what Demico Ryan's had
to say.
Speaker 14 (42:03):
I have no idea and if he's playing or not,
so I really can't focus on it or be concerned
about it. You know, we're we're preparing for the Chiefs,
and you know, a lot of the light shines on
Patrick a lot. But you know, if you watch the
Tis play, their defense is outstanding unit. They do a
really good job defensively. Coach bag Know's done a great job.
(42:23):
Coach Reid. In the offense, they're gonna find a way
no matter who's there, they find a way to move
the football right. And so we just have to be
on it in all areas of the game, whether Patrick
is there or not.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
Talking about it, that's the truth, man, That's a fact
you go in. I mean, remember there was one point
when Carson Wentz was the top pick in the draft,
I mean, so there is until he got hurt. Yeah,
there is some skill set there. There there is an
he's a That's why people keep signing him. He's got
(42:58):
some talent.
Speaker 9 (42:59):
It's between the years, not that he's not done, but
just the some of the decision making process and commitment
to excellence and maybe Andy, you know, having Andy haveing
Carson Wentz has a change, good change for him. But
that's why you bring a veteran in for these moments. Yeah,
if you didn'trust him, he shouldn't be your backup quarterback.
That's why I've always looked at if you because you
(43:19):
made that maybe the guy you got to roll with.
And if it is, and on any team, you never know.
I mean, hell, Sam Donald was supposed to be the
backup this year. He's now twelve and two, and in
a normal season where the Golfs and the Allens and
the Jackson's aren't playing out of their friggin mind, he'd
be in the MVP talk right. So yeah, I'm anxious
(43:40):
to see.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
But if you're.
Speaker 5 (43:42):
The Chiefs, I don't know how you risk If he's
like seventy five percent but onces to play you, I
don't know how you let him talk you into it
if you're Mahomes. But the other side of it, Buffalo,
you do not want to go on the road man, No,
that goes in. How much does Andy trust that Wincey
can do his like? Call him windsay you know that?
Is he gonna be hunting this weekend? Or is he
(44:02):
actually gonna be there? I think he. I think like
he might do both. He might do both.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Early morning hunting.
Speaker 9 (44:08):
Yeah, I get a little hunted and they go hunt
hunt dubs or if you know he hunts Dubbs, he
also may hunt.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
You know he eats dubbs too, apparently, does I think so?
Speaker 5 (44:18):
But no, hunt a victory and you know what, you
go play Well, let's say Mahomes was out a week
You'll play well. All you're doing is playing for your team,
but also having other teams looking and say, who's Carson Wentz? Now, yeah,
I'm not sure any of us know who he is
right now. No, I have no clue, agreed, I don't
know what what he would look like. So I think
when it comes to if Patrick Mowis plays or not,
what would we say earlier? If he's eighty five percent
(44:40):
anything he plays?
Speaker 9 (44:41):
I think that I think Andy would rest him if
if there was if there's any sign of a limp
or anything going throughout the practice week, or if he
doesn't play. Normally, a veteran like that, he doesn't play,
he doesn't practice, He'll still play because he's got enough
skin in the game. But in this case, if he
doesn't practice, my guess is that it'd be too much
to move around. I just don't think you want to
(45:01):
risk it. They're in a pretty solid positions, needless to say,
but Andy's been shown some pretty good trust in other players.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
Their defense is nasty. It's not exactly right now like
the Texans offense scares you. There are elements of it
that do scare you a Nico Collins depending on Joe
Mixon's health, but it didn't like they go into a game.
Put it this way, Kansas City Chiefs defense, Texans offenses,
we know it this year. Advantage Texans, I mean advantage
Chiefs Chiefs. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (45:30):
So, and their interior defensive front is as good, if
not the best, in the league. So you may think
you can steal one with Carson Wentz and it's in
your building. Yeah, I don't think you can even the
home field advantage is so frigging important. I don't think
you can risk a major, major blow to Mahomes because
(45:51):
I don't think the way that offense is played, meaning
the Kansas City Chiefs, they don't scare the Texans defense
right now, even with the Mahomes. I mean, you know
they're capable, but you're not. If Mahomes isn't healthy throughout
the playoffs, they're not.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
They're not winning third straight. No, no chance.
Speaker 9 (46:06):
As good as their defense is, there's too many good
offenses right now.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
No, there's no way, there's no way. You know, you
talked about the health of Joe Mixon. Uh, he was
a little banged up on once again a hip drop tackle.
One of the big emphasis coming into this season for
the league office was eliminating the hip drop tackle.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
And there was no penalty call to play either.
Speaker 5 (46:27):
No twice, both times that he was tackled on hip
drop tackles, no penalties. I you know, what's the why
why do they put this emphasis on it. I'm glad
and I know it's hard to do that in full speed,
and it is hard, But then when Jeans Terrator literally
breaks it down and he was like for three elements bingo, bengo, bongo,
(46:48):
all of them check out hard out. That's why you review,
to review these things. It's hard to see in real
time for these officials at times it's going fast. Was
it hit drop? Because really, when you watched it, and
even when you see it on instant replay, it didn't
look that harsh. The one that looked the worst part
with the third element where he fell on the back
(47:09):
of his legs right as he was dropping to the ground,
because it's like, it's like you're trying to hog time, right,
It's like when you go to the rodeo, But then
what do they do at the last second. They hip
dropped a dog on bulldog that damn that jack right
and tie him up. So and mixing ain't exactly easy
to bring down. You're dealing with the full grown man.
So when I saw it on the thing, I thought, well,
that's not a penalty. And then they slowed it. And
(47:30):
when Gene explained, you're like, yep, I know the three
elements were they all there? And they were, But if
you think about how we had to slow it so down.
So I don't think the refmde hated it all how
terrible because it didn't look that bad when the guy
did it, But it was the feet underneath him that
you land on that, you know, you do that that
the ankle gets twisted or the shin or what have you.
(47:51):
And there can be some some upper you know, high
ankle sprain stuff. But it's a hell of a it's
a dangerous tackle, kind of like the horse callar. Horse
collars easier to see because it's a one tiered thing
as opposed to the three tiered thing that is the
the hip drop. But I think, I think what bothers
me about the tackle? And you talked about how quick
(48:13):
it happens, right, Well, the broadcaster Kevin Harlan and who's
his partner, Granon Green, they're like within five seconds talking
about a hip drop tackle. Yeah, ten seconds, fifteen seconds later,
Gene's territor is breaking it down because the next play
hadn't even hadn't even gone yet, hadn't even hadn't even
uh Caesars Draut was barely getting up to the line.
(48:34):
So that shows me if these broadcasters are getting it,
the rules analysts is getting it. Don't they have replay
assist these days? Yes, if the broadcast to explode about replay,
you know, I know, but it's just it's more, it's
more proof of that we don't get the right we
don't get a matter of fact, that's one of the
biggest weaknesses in the NFL. We talked about growth of game. Yeah,
(48:55):
it's and I know how hard the job is. I
wouldn't want to be a ref no, hell no, But
they're the experts, and we missed too much of this stuff.
You know, the week before on the face mask that
was on Burrough, Right, I mean you start to say
in games all over, I know it's hard. Well, they
get it right most of the time. Well, just like
a strikes and you'd like to get it right as
office as you could if all the time. But they
(49:16):
did a really good job of explaining it. And then
at Trent Greenpoint, Well there's no flag, so the NFL
offices you still reserve the right to find to find
the player for the hip drop tackle, right. Yeah, but
you know, it's so weird because like having mahomes. I'm
not saying it's comparable, I mean that they're the exact same,
but they are comparable to the importance to an offense.
Speaker 15 (49:39):
No.
Speaker 9 (49:39):
Joe Mixon the Texans the way their offense is played
this year. I'm not saying they don't have capabilities the
way their offense is played this year without Joe Mixon
for an extended amount of time, and hopefully that's not
the case, right, they'll be fine. But if he's not
fully healthy for an extended amount of time, I don't
see how they're more explosive. He is their offensive MVP
leading up to the games. Yeah, he's been and Nico
(50:02):
conn Is playing a full season would have an argument
because he's a hell of a player too, But I
don't know if they can roll through much of it
without Joe Mixon fully healthy in the backfield.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
You have to have him in the backfield if you
want to have any sort of success. Even then, yeah,
you're not moving the pile even Joe can't, you know,
dressing a phone booth all the time. So he's such
an a valuable part of this team. And it's a
bummer that the two similar tackles. I mean to right
down to the dog on finest points of it, put
the guy on the sideline. Yeah, yeah, just you got
(50:31):
all the technology in the world, use it.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
What a novel concept? Crazy, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (50:37):
All?
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Right, Let's get to the stake out next here on
the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 10 (50:42):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (50:43):
This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 8 (50:52):
The Salsbury's takeouts, Salsbury Takeout on The Sean Salisbury Show's.
Speaker 5 (51:32):
Tide for the steak out here on the Shawn Salisbury Show,
Sean Brown, a triple leak all right, for the steakout.
Stay in the NFL. Obviously, we have games this Saturday.
This well, first of all, it's this Thursday, then Saturday
(51:53):
and Sunday, then a quick turnaround.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
Team's playing on Christmas.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Have you seen the broadcast crews for the Netflix games?
I saw a list come out.
Speaker 9 (52:07):
Is that the ones like with Robert Griffin, Robert Griffin
the third and a handful of a group of I
don't remember who they are.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
I can't tell you who they are right now.
Speaker 9 (52:16):
I don't know, but I remember the list coming out
saying they were going to work these two Netflix games.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
There's like eight people that I saw their names. I
don't know who it is.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
Who is it?
Speaker 5 (52:24):
So just to name a few, you have Kay Adams,
who I think is pretty good as she hosts she
was on Good Morning Football, but she's not a different right.
You also have Robert Griffin, the Third, Drew Brees, monte Teo,
(52:45):
who's on NFL Network. Doesn't he do a show for
them in the morning. Who's any part of.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
The morning game? And none other.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
Than Mina Chimes, the worst analyst of all time?
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Are they doing?
Speaker 5 (53:02):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Who's doing the games? Who's calling the game?
Speaker 2 (53:05):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (53:05):
So I've got is she a studio person?
Speaker 1 (53:08):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (53:08):
So you have a pre pregame show for the let's
see sorry Pittsburgh. So they're doing They're doing a NFL
Network studio show in Los Angeles and that features Kay Adams,
(53:31):
Drew Brees, Robert Griffin, the Third, monte Teo, Mina Kimes.
So they're gonna be doing the show in the studio.
Then you have another pregame show that's gonna be in Pittsburgh,
and that's Lor Rutledge, Devin mccordy and his brother Jason mccordy.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
I like that crew.
Speaker 5 (53:47):
I think that crew would be pretty good the on
air commentators for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That's the first game on Christmas that's gonna be Iron Eagle,
Nate Burlason, and JJ Watt. Then for the Ravens and Texans,
you're gonna have No Eagle, Greg Olsen, Jamie Erdle and
(54:09):
Steve wi Wish. Yes, it's a good crew. That's I
think the last one is a really good crew. I
think both broadcast crews are going to be pretty good.
I love Iron Eagle, No Eagle. Obviously, his son has
been uh doing pretty good things over at NBC Sports.
Greg Olsen is phenomenal at his job, Iron Eagles. He's
been doing it is so good for so long. And yeah,
(54:31):
you're right, and I love Greg Olsen. You can argue
he's as good as we got. Yeah right now. And
you know, No Eagles really good he does. I think
he's calling the Notre Dame games so well. Good for
those guys. Man, a good STU. I mean, I've got
a lot of bodies for the studio shows and then
calling the games. That's studio great opportunity, and that studio
show is gonna suck Meana Kimes is the worst dude.
(54:55):
She reminds me of Steve, Steve Kerr and Greg Popovich.
She's always got to say something, She's always got to
make herself seem like, uh righteous, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
Yeah, I'll be honest always.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
And she's always clapping back at people on.
Speaker 9 (55:11):
Twitter when I see her on the on the show,
like ess on an NFL Live or something that sounds down.
Speaker 5 (55:18):
I don't know if I've heard her five times in
my life. She sucks. I hate saying that. Guy, she's
at the top level, but she sucks. I don't watch
studio shows anymore, man, I just don't. I used to
watch them religiously and haven't been on one for twelve years.
I get it, but I I I don't. I'm gonna
tell you I don't really need their information. Yeah, I
(55:39):
just think it's crazy because it's not information. Some of
it's too much hot takes for me. I'll tell you
what I do.
Speaker 9 (55:44):
I love James Brown and listen to I think JB
is a great host Fox. I still am into the
Bradshaw Howie Long straight and I think they have a
great rapport.
Speaker 5 (55:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
I just don't watch pregame shows, man, Yeah, I just
I can't.
Speaker 5 (55:59):
I can't say. And I read all this stuff about
me but Menana kinds, but I don't ever hear her.
I get frustrated when I see and all U Stephen A.
Smith as an example as well, and Mina Kimes, can
they get up there and draw x's and o's.
Speaker 9 (56:13):
Well, I've always wanted this, if you you know we
we're asking for it. And I'm not just talking about
Mena Kimes. I'm asking for like a Steven A. Smith,
who's a debate guy.
Speaker 5 (56:20):
And there has been a journalist in the past, and
a and a column writer and a beat ride done
all that. He's done it all did How you get
for instance, if you're a female in a male dominated
world or when I say world or sport and or
I'm talking about any sport or any business, right like
you're a general manager and on a and we see
it now in Major League Baseball in the NFL, and
(56:42):
and there's some great ones, really smart. How do you
get You know, we're craved to give him the respect
and equality right they do?
Speaker 9 (56:49):
So how you get it is you do all the
same things and then something else and we listen, the
media makes it and fans make it hard on people
to to let them in.
Speaker 5 (56:58):
Does that make sense? And so once you're in and
just stay in and you do great work. I don't
care what walk of life you come from. I never have,
but you got to do. But I can't just put
you in just to put you in, because it's it's
because what people want to see for optics, right, And
I'm not referring to anybody in particular, but I will
say this and I and I craved this, and I
asked for this all the time, even when we're not listening,
but I can see it. I'm just going. ESPN's on
(57:21):
here a lot. And there's a lot of females that
do the pre that I get up right, like Kimberly
Mark the mean of times.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
Molly's a host, so that's not her, but stephen A.
Speaker 5 (57:31):
Smith guys that you wouldn't consider analysts but are given
hardcore opinion and talking cover too and talking quarterback mechanics,
which is fine.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
But with that, why is it the.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
Dan Orlovsky or when to go to the Fox at
one of the Oo brothers at Fox, you know that
have their show?
Speaker 1 (57:53):
Why are they?
Speaker 5 (57:55):
Why are they the former football players? Only one drawing it?
Speaker 9 (57:57):
If you really want respect, if I was doing, let's say,
I want as an analyst on a.
Speaker 5 (58:02):
Baseball show, which I love, and no baseball. But people
know me as a football guy.
Speaker 9 (58:06):
I would ask them, I say, make sure you put
me on the board. I want to talk hitting. I've
steady been around Pete Rose and talk to these guys enough.
Let me go up in diagram it because of the respect.
Because if you don't ever do it, I assume you're
just throw an opinion against what and you don't have
you can't so in order to get even more, lend
more credence to how good you are, I would if
I was Kimberly Martin or steven A Smith or Mina Comes.
Speaker 5 (58:28):
I would want you to let me tell a straight
So then when you know guys are ah, what's you know?
You get These guys say women don't belong, which is
which is? Some are strong opinion, Some like me, Doris
Burke knows basketball as good as plenty of guys. But
if I'm at a studio show, why wouldn't I put
Kimberly Martin.
Speaker 9 (58:46):
I'm just using her because she's on this show on
a regular base. Steven A Smith, why wouldn't I. If
you're gonna tell me you're a twenty five million dollar.
Speaker 5 (58:53):
A year guy or whatever, he's gonna make and I,
and he works his ass off. But you want to
lend even more credibility to your debate status is when
they're talking on these shows and they say, yeah, this
team plays a soft cover tube. Man there, Mike Linebacker
is so active instead of making the football guy do it.
If you really want to get credibility, let the female
(59:13):
or the Steven A. Smith or the who else is
a debate or on any of these shows, even like
when Max Kalmer was doing him.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
Them on the board.
Speaker 9 (59:21):
Since you're debating it, I'm not talking about a host
like Greenberg. There's a difference between a host and a
debate guy. Because the debate guy, you're telling me you
know everything about every sports and that's fine, So why
wouldn't I add to your credibility?
Speaker 5 (59:34):
And if you can't get up there, then I shouldn't
respect your opinion on cover two. If you can't draw it,
you can't talk it. Does that make sense? Meaning you
can talk it, but I paint me the picture that
you know what you're talking about. It can be for hell,
there's plenty of football guys that may not know it.
But I'm saying, from the credibility standpoint, can you imagine
if Kimberly Martin or Stephen A. Smith got up there
(59:55):
and hit his debate and say, let me show you
why where it's not just Orlovsky or me or a
a form of football.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Gay get them there the scene.
Speaker 5 (01:00:01):
Now watch what the safeties do on cover two and
they get outside the hash marks. You can't throw the
ball there. But man, the bender down the middle.
Speaker 9 (01:00:09):
If this Mike linebacker on play action sits with Derrick
Henry's in the back of the Lamar, is gonna have
Mark Andrews down on the pump seam the bender right
down the middle in the red zone.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
It's a beautiful play diagram. We walk out of there
saying damnah. Even if beforehand you fooled us In Orlovsky
or me or somebody else taught you how to teach it,
at least now you're lending to you know what you
guys that say I can't diagram football. Here's what happens
on zero blitz. Here's a look at the mechanics. Look
where his feet are, bless you, and so that lends
(01:00:39):
to it. So that is my I do have a
major issue that you're just you're adding to the stereotype
that it's only the football guy who can draw plays.
Put somebody up there as not used to make them
do extra work.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Steven A. Schmith should be able to know.
Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
He hears it enough every day, his ass should be
able to stand up there and draw it all.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Why maybe not execute it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:59):
Like somebody would in a pocket, but he should be
able to draw why because he's got an opinion on it.
I'm sure as hell not going to sit up here
and say, well, Pete Rose stands and he hits the
ball to right field without being able to tell you
why he hits the ball to right field and show you.
That's my problem with studio shows. And I be honest
with you, I think more eighty percent of the guys
who talk on and gals who talk on, I think
they overload their mouth that they're ass. I think our
(01:01:21):
studio shows are average at best, and they teach me nothing. Okay,
some of them are really frigging good. Yeah, and names
aren't important to me. I don't care what race they are,
and I sure as hell don't care what gender they are.
But if you want to gain that credibility, stick them
on the board. Yeah, and then they'll get and if
they can't do it. Well, they're just add to what
we think anyway. You're just talking out your ass yep,
(01:01:43):
so explain it to me and then we can listen
a little bit better. Yeah, they got Mina Times listed
as an NFL analyst. Sh And then and I don't
hear her, I promise you, I do not. I don't
know her game.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
She doesn't do it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
Okay, So she's an analyst. She should be able to
draw it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
And she doesn't.
Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Okay, well, then she should same thing with just Sevenay.
Smith should be he's been on these shows for years.
He should be able to walk you through what a
inside zone does and draw it on a board or
on a tellustrator. If he can't, then somebody better teaches
ass if they want more respect. And yet he's gonna
go make twenty million dollars a year and he works
his ass off. Working harder doesn't always mean you're working
smarter and better. And if you can't teach it, miss
(01:02:21):
me with it.
Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
Yeah with your dog you fired up?
Speaker 9 (01:02:24):
Yeah I am, because I can teach it better. For
five million, then send ninety eight point seven percent of
those guys can teach it and can teach it the
way that trust me. Okay, I ain't leaving anybody behind.
And if I'm leaving somebody behind, then somebody ain't teaching it.
Speaker 11 (01:02:40):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:02:40):
That's what we need. We need a fan I can
debate it. I take those guys. I would take those
I would pay to get me one week back on ASH,
one week on that show with them debating.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
One week.
Speaker 5 (01:02:50):
I'll pay for my own trip, my own hotel, and pay.
And if at the end of that week I haven't
left them six feet under by the time I'm done,
then you leave me alone. I will never talk about
it again in a good way. And when we walk away,
they'll say, you know, the actually the guy's not screaming
something he doesn't know, and he's actually teaching us something. Yeah,
I'd love to one chance.
Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
I would love to see that.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
The Sean Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
Nick, good morning, Hey, good morning.
Speaker 15 (01:03:22):
I had kind of a a comment, kind of circling
back to what you guys were talking about yesterday about
how the NBA has a big problem with viewership.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
And you know, I'm forty one.
Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
I group in Houston loved the Rockets or loved them.
I can't name it. Sing a player today and you know.
Speaker 15 (01:03:39):
You guys are talking about these these studio shows, and
it just kind of goes back because I think yesterday
where you know that the best studio show out there
inside the NBA is in its last year and is
not going to get renewed or you know, the the NBA.
Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
Doesn't value it.
Speaker 15 (01:03:52):
But that's probably one of the best things that the
NBA has right now.
Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
And it just goes to show you that these these
you know, C.
Speaker 15 (01:03:57):
Suite executives, I don't know, can't read the room, don't care,
they think they know the future.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
And it just kind of blows my mind.
Speaker 15 (01:04:05):
And I just thought about what y'all were talking about
yesterday with these studio shows.
Speaker 5 (01:04:09):
So Nick, how long you have you been here in Houston?
My whole life? Okay, so you were, you were a
massive Rockets fan, and now you don't really watch or
you don't watch it all. I appreciate basketball. I like basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
I think I.
Speaker 15 (01:04:24):
Think the best experience live is courtside or close to
a basketball game. That that's the one thing the NBA
has going for him, is that if you have good
enough seats, I take a live basketball game over anything else.
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
And make it make it. Duke North Carolina or Kansas
University of Houston courtside. For me, I mean I love
the NBA, but I look college for me is yes,
I like to bet college basketball and I like to
watch college basketball. And I mean it's one of sey
college football Saturday. For me, I can watch three back
to back games on a Saturday afternoon watching college hoops. Yes,
(01:04:57):
I will tell you this that he he's right about
this too. About the TNT. We've talked about a million times.
Speaker 9 (01:05:04):
The reason that studio show is so good is because
they're just real. When they make fun of each other,
they laugh, they get they sometimes they're if they get
after each other, they ken't. He'll go up there and draw,
and you know that's Charles ain't on the board. That's
not his especially Charles's entertainer, but he knows basketball. Give opinion, Ernie,
you know, make sure everybody's going dealing like crazy Shack
(01:05:27):
and the rest of But they do what we do,
not me and you. But I'm just they sit around
and talk and they just run a camera. And you
know what, on some studio shows, they're uptight, and they
used to be. You can't get up out of your seat,
you know, Shack will get up and go DOWND because
they're laughing SRD.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
That's real.
Speaker 9 (01:05:42):
That's real when you drop an S bomb like Saban
does and you're like, damn, I just got into sorry,
I mean they did just that's that's just just real.
That's how people talk when they're sitting around their buddies.
When you make people feel like they're sitting next to you,
not on the outside looking in. That's when a studio
show that you're laughing yourself some self deprecation. Teach me something,
(01:06:03):
entertain and get off the rails once in a while.
How many of a good comedian, a good studio show,
a good movie get off the rails.
Speaker 5 (01:06:10):
You're like, what, that's a good thing. We get all this.
You gotta be buttoned, But no, you actually really don't.
Sometimes the best is like a man, we'll get to that.
Especially on a five day a week show, and during
the season there what three or three days a week?
Four days a week is it? There'll be plenty of
time to cover everything. Sometimes we just want to see
real personality. Well, yeah, and they show it on that show.
(01:06:32):
I'll use our show for an example. Oh my, we
to sit here and talk x's and o's, whether it's football, basketball,
or baseball for four straight hours, and that would bore
people to death.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
In the morning, it would bore me. Yeah, now I
do believe.
Speaker 5 (01:06:43):
Hey, when you want to talk Texans and game plan
and why the Ashles aren't hitting, we're on a sports show.
Speaker 9 (01:06:48):
If they're not talking sports and we're not doing our job.
But there's also other things that are going on in
the world. Somebody's waking up today doesn't know where they're
getting a Christmas gift or how they're gonna get enough
money to go give it. Somebody's waking up today, somebody's ill,
and Christmas for them will never be the same.
Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
You just lost a dog.
Speaker 9 (01:07:03):
This Christmas is going to be a reminder for you
all the time when Mark shits you know in that area. Yeah,
it happens, it does, and we need to share those
things transparency, in my opinion, just from when you're real,
when you could sit here and you know I hit
rock bottom, dude, and I was a dumbassy bam and
then how you get out of it, or when you're
laughing about stuff and joking. Listen, I will never in
(01:07:25):
my life now there are times after the World Series lost,
or you go int the World Series three hours and
forty five minutes of it, or Baseball talk. But if
you ever notice, even in those weaving in there, we're
making fun and laughing and joking, all in good fun
because it's real.
Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
Right. If I'm just telling you what's not for me,
giving you a stats and speaking four hours at six
in the morning, somebody's right the coffee put them to
sleep while they're driving on the road. That's not my goal.
And so I will never ever everyone said, he says,
if you don't talk sports, you.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Can't do it.
Speaker 5 (01:07:52):
The best shows in the world, on any show, whether
it's Dan Patrick show, you're laughing while you're crying, while
you're talking x's and ohs. Why you're giving a hardcore
opinion while debating and banter and bringing people into it.
And if that isn't the way, dude, I would if
you if we were on a show that we had
four hours of just once every where, I would be
bored to death. And I just tell people, we are
(01:08:14):
never ever, ever, ever, ever going four straight hours and whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
What's that?
Speaker 9 (01:08:18):
One hundred and twenty and one hundred and twenty two
hundred and forty minutes of talk. We are never going
and we're going to tell you what the third string
bullpen guy down at Corpus Christy did every single night.
If you want that information, get your ass on a
computer right now. We can tell you about a prospect
we want up once in a while, talk about him
and bring somebody on to talk about. But you know what,
(01:08:41):
be experts in self deprecation and making people laugh. We're
we're in the entertainment business. I ain't breaking stories about
you know, drones right now.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Yeah, no, we all talk about him.
Speaker 5 (01:08:52):
Hope to goodness one of those big ass truck ones
will follow my Hopefully they's nothing. But point is, we
got to be able to talk about everything, or I
would I wouldn't want to listen. I think the best
thing about our show is transparent and real. I mean,
I like to think we know a little bit about everything.
I we laugh and joking and know our sports. But
I would listen to us on our stupidity. Yeah, that's
stay with me, and I can't help it, because that's
(01:09:14):
when you tell me I got to be mature all
the time. I do enough of that at home. I
mean I do enough of that in my life. That
isn't that is Now I'm dialed up. I'm gonna be
in n one hundred and two dieing thinking I got
to get one more stupid ass laughing. You know what
I'm saying, I'll be right there to That's who I
am and I'm never changing it, right, Yeah, and at
ninety you'll put hey, that said your far ahead. But
(01:09:34):
that's how stupid. But that's who we are, right. I
can't pretend, man, Yeah, I can't. I think one of
the things, like one of the more endearing compliments that
we got, and you weren't even paying attention because you
were talking to somebody when we went to the back
the badge that we've done two years in a row. Now,
me and you were up on stage doing the uh raffle.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
Right like we did.
Speaker 5 (01:09:55):
We were a hosting the event, rolling right because we
were happened on everybody. Yeah, you had a mike, I
had a mic, and we were rolling. So when we
got done with it, one of the police officers said
to me, he was like, man, you guys in person
sound like you do on your radio show. And I'm like, yeah,
because that's how we are, Like we're jackasses. That's that's
how we are right, we're not changing anything. The only
(01:10:16):
thing that changes show.
Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
Like we're no, we're that dumb on air as we
are in perts.
Speaker 5 (01:10:20):
The only thing that changes that we actually have to
push a button to get on the right. Other than
that the buttons pushed, and then we also have tripley
to keep us in line. So and then poor guy
deserves a pay race. I also heard those drones up
in the northeast are looking for Aaron Judge in October?
Why what well? Why?
Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
Because he's normal a nice guy? What do you mean?
Speaker 5 (01:10:40):
And they're also actually the drones are about to migrate
over to the north side of Chicago to look for
Kyle Tucker in October I heard that nice Yeah, what
a good guy you are on holiday season. That's King
Tuck of the North Man. Well, what do you what
if Judge comes on here? Say by the way, man.
I almost went to I almost went to UH, I
almost went to the Pine. Knew I was going to
(01:11:01):
go to Soul Ross State, but I decided I didn't
want to go play high school for the Yeah yeah,
what if he what if? What if? What if they
just ripped you to death?
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
Didn't go to Fresno State would feel hurt.
Speaker 9 (01:11:10):
Absolutely not. I It's like, it's like, would you say
to me, what are the trojan trods? Ever got to
like you ripped me?
Speaker 6 (01:11:18):
You?
Speaker 9 (01:11:18):
Yeah, you dug like six oh four you got in
a trojan ripped yesterday with some of our recruiters. So
he said something about trojans yesday.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
Oh no, I said, uh.
Speaker 5 (01:11:26):
He was like, oh Kamari Lassiter, Yeah, and we're talking
about lastter and You're like, man, he's a good player,
and I said, yeah, he's one of the Actually he
was probably one of the only ones that played defense
on the us Bullock.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
It was bullet Georgia and Georgia guy.
Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
That's right. Yeah, so you got to dig it. It's like,
Kaylen Bullock, why are you? Uh well, I got to
hurt my program. I took it. I took a personal
you know that your program, y'all's program. Yeah, I don't suck.
I take that back. No, they're still us C, but
they're they're they're underperforming. Yeah, but unfortunately we were USC
playing like Fresno State at times.
Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
No disrespect to Fresno State. Infect the car brothers.
Speaker 5 (01:12:02):
I can't or.
Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
I'm pretty sure and Judge went there. He did go there.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
He's from Fresno, I believe, Bakersfield of Fresno. Yeah yeah, Bakersfield,
good town man yeah, Bake Bak. Yeah. So those studios,
that's why you have to have the perfect mix and rapport,
and that's why those student shows. But give me a
studio show that shoves x's and o's down your throat
for four hours or a morning drive.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
I don't know how you do it. You can't laugh.
Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
Forget it, man, I'm Nick, our guy, Nick that just
called in. Inside the NBA is a moving to ESPN
and ABC. They did get picked up by them. Yeah
that was about they got picked about two three weeks ago. Yeah,
so good, good for that show. They just better not
change anything because it's they do. If they if they
try to filter the chuckle, just walk away.
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:12:49):
All right, let's get back to talking Texans. Derek Stingley junior,
best corner in the game. Let's talk about it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show, not futile.
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
Dennis.
Speaker 6 (01:13:03):
Good morning, Hey, having Tuesday, Phyllis, Hey, I'm not much.
I want to make a comment on the studio show
is and what drives me crazy about the studio.
Speaker 16 (01:13:11):
Shows nowadays, there's no originality on the shows.
Speaker 6 (01:13:14):
Especially I'm an aim towards ESPN. ESPN used to be
my favorite network. Thirty years ago, you asked me, my
favorite show is college Football Game Dance Sports Center?
Speaker 16 (01:13:23):
For sure. Nowadays I could barely even watch it.
Speaker 6 (01:13:26):
If I want to hear about the Dallas Cowboys every
hour on the hour, if I want to hear in
New York, Chicago or LA, That's when I'll tune to
ESPN because that's all they talk about. I mean, they'll ask,
they'll they'll rehash the same Dallas Cowboy question every show
at some different angle. And instead of talking about some
of the better teams in the NFL, like, you know,
(01:13:47):
how are the Vikings?
Speaker 16 (01:13:48):
What are the Vikings going to do to win the
Super Bowl? What are the Chargers are gonna do to
win the Super Bowl? They'd rather spend their time.
Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
Talking about Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, and they'd rather
talk about Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
You know they don't.
Speaker 6 (01:14:02):
There's no regionality on that show anymore or that network.
That's what drives me crazy.
Speaker 16 (01:14:06):
So if I'm gonna get my sports news.
Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
I'm just gonna tune the NHL Network, NFL Network and
will be network.
Speaker 16 (01:14:12):
So I'll hang up a liston you see what you
guys thought.
Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
Thanks appreciated, Dennis, I mean, Sean, We've talked about this,
no argument here. Tons of times ESPN has fallen off
when it comes to their studios.
Speaker 9 (01:14:22):
So many great people that I worked with there for
twelve years and great you know, a lot of them
have gone on and stuff, and some are still there
and talent and behind the scenes camera people, production people, executives.
I mean, there's some great ones and there's some you
you know, don't don't.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
Pay attention to anymore, right, Yeah, but I haven't. I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:14:44):
I just don't watch it anymore. I don't know. Maybe
that's just maturing. I don't know. I had twelve years
of it. Maybe that's when yet I'm not you got
to teach me something. I'm not that interested. Yeah, So
that's all because I think the people they can go
down good good on the they'll get paid. But I don't,
and it's not for me. I just don't. I don't
watch pregame shows anymore. I do enough of my own
(01:15:05):
pregame work. I don't need theirs right now.
Speaker 9 (01:15:07):
If you make me laugh, take it to a new level,
give me something different, different angle.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
I'm all in. Like the TNT show.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
Yeah, like a good hockey show yet, yes, but you're
you're not. There's nothing unless somebody, but you know, you
tune into a good podcast. I want to listen to
Joe Rogan interview somebody I want to or give it.
I want to listen to something that I don't normally get,
or a comedian or a good sports show man. I
have no problem with the good sports show as long
(01:15:33):
as you you know McAfee show, Letter Rip or Dan
Patrick show. But I just don't watch studio shows because
I just I don't. I feel like at times I'm
watching a twenty four handicap play golf. Yeah, I like it. It
doesn't interest me listening to the Sean Ryan Show. Now,
he's pretty impressive with me all the former armed forces.
(01:15:54):
You give me a military podcast or one of those
before a sports podcast any day of the week, now
if you can we both in that. Now we're talking,
so yeah, I mean, I just I I'm not. I don't.
Speaker 9 (01:16:06):
I'm not missing anything by not tuning in. They're not
for most, but now there's some who teach it good.
Don't misunderstand me. But I need to be entertained and
taught otherwise it doesn't do anything for me.
Speaker 5 (01:16:15):
I know, like we have what is this the breakfast
breakfast Ball with Mark Schlareth and it's breakfast Ball Parkins
and uh and uh Danny Parkins. Yeah, but the host
is uh, he's been with the I told you, I mean,
I have to set his name million times with the
fan uh forever in New York. So but they got
(01:16:35):
a good they got a good rapport. They challenge their
opinionated and they can talk sports. Mark played for a
long time, but he didn't take himself too serious. But
he'll get after you. So heck. I when I was
yeah Carton, there you go. When I worked with when
when Trey Wye going marked along with the host. But
I've worked with myself in Schlareth and Golick and Hodge.
I would put that that for that group on studio
(01:16:58):
for laughs up against any buddy. I still will, football wise,
I because of those guys. But the rapport is what
I'm talking about. The laughs, the preparation. I remember sitting
in Means and we all had a different perspective, and
we weren't afraid to get after it. But we laughed. Yeah,
and I think we talked you some football without we
we weren't. We weren't hot take As a matter of fact,
(01:17:19):
it was almost frowned upon good energy. And I missed
my guy John Clayton. I would have put that debate
up against him. And John was the one who made
that go. I mean, he was the straw that stirred
that drink. So it was awesome. But yeah, there's some
good ones. There's just not many of them. Yeah, I
mean it's it's uh, it's you know, it's like what
they say about laughter, you know, oh, here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Laughter is the ultimate expression of sheer joy. There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:17:43):
And remember this, Yeah, just because you get paid doesn't
make you a proa does that make sense?
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Absolutely?
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
And then Peter, oh, that guy's making a lot of
money still doesn't make him a pro or doesn't make
him good or her good.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
So at the end, I think.
Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
They tried too hard to crow bar stuff in the
people and stuff and they quite frankly, we at home
don't care about right we we we we here's what
we want give it to just talk just talk normal
to me. Yeah, exactly, talk normal to me. That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
If you can't do that, then I lose interest quickly.
So I'd rather, you know, seed my grass on a
Sunday morning than watch a pregame show. We're on a
Wednesday afternoon. Sorry, I watched. I like the events, but
I'm not big on the pregame shows. Yeah, I just
not didn't do anything for me.
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
Laugh loudly, laughed often the most important laugh at yourself.
Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
Thanks, a little self deprecation.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
Here you go, it's my my my.
Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
Uh, that's your owe to comedy. Yeah, to not take
yourself too serious. That's the perfect way to get into
the eight o'clock hour and phone line. Lighten up, seven
five seven. I will get out to the phone lines.
Continue to talk Texans as well. It's getting an eight
o'clock hour.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Next.
Speaker 17 (01:18:48):
Kd E Houston, k t V HD two Houston, an
I hard radio stations, the.
Speaker 7 (01:18:55):
Rockets, Sports Talk your whole for your home team.
Speaker 5 (01:19:05):
Saulsbury, Old Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
To usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:19:25):
Uh, Pertmico Ryans, Joe Mixon is gonna be fine. So
a little banged up, he should be good to go.
Vikings beat the Bears, Falcons beat the Raiders. Both those
games last night Monday Night football. Let's get back out
to the phone line. Seven to one three, two, one,
two five seven ninety is the number to joinable start
in order of longuest.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Wait, let's start with Adrian. What was that?
Speaker 5 (01:19:43):
Adrian? Alright, what's up this morning?
Speaker 10 (01:19:46):
Fellas?
Speaker 5 (01:19:48):
Off the top of the bet. I heard you yesterday.
Speaker 10 (01:19:50):
By my condolence is that's just I don't know. I mean,
my condolence is it's all I can tell.
Speaker 18 (01:19:56):
You.
Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
Appreciate the Dadrian, Yeah, man, it sucks, but uh, I
appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:01):
I had a couple of parrots though that were pretty old.
Speaker 11 (01:20:04):
So.
Speaker 10 (01:20:05):
I can't compare, but I can compare, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 5 (01:20:09):
Yeah, anyway, you know, no age, I think you can.
Speaker 16 (01:20:11):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:20:11):
I don't care if you're you've got parrots, dogs, cats, lizards,
if you're raising a raccoon, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
It's all there your paths to your family.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:20:21):
Brian was thinking about going out and get a Gerbil. Yeah, amster,
called Richard Geart anyway, he said. He said, Sean, where
can I get a gerbil? Is it you're talking to
the barking up the rog tree dog? Find that hamstraders
fight that hamster at a pet store. Don't come to
(01:20:41):
my crib, right, I don't want that rolling around my.
Speaker 10 (01:20:48):
Oh, Jim Crane, I'm gonna let you make it to tomorrow.
I'm gonna just let you make it to tomorrow so
we don't scoot you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
To the side.
Speaker 1 (01:20:56):
Bobby schlow It, I got a question.
Speaker 10 (01:21:00):
You went out, got a running back, Old uncle Joe
went out and got a receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:21:05):
I understand he got hurt.
Speaker 5 (01:21:07):
We got a healthy tank deal.
Speaker 10 (01:21:11):
And Nico met you and all.
Speaker 12 (01:21:13):
The rest question for you is why has this offense
slowed down?
Speaker 11 (01:21:19):
Last year?
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
They were chunking up points, chunking them up.
Speaker 1 (01:21:23):
And I don't want to hear that you.
Speaker 12 (01:21:24):
Were sneaking up on anybody at the week ten.
Speaker 10 (01:21:27):
If you sneaking up on somebody, they just blind, dumb
and stupid.
Speaker 5 (01:21:31):
So U that was my question for you.
Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
And Sean got a question for you.
Speaker 10 (01:21:37):
How hard from a quarterbacks version was that flip pass
that he just flipped to Nico in the middle of
the end zone for the rest of y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
Y'all already know Merry Christmas.
Speaker 5 (01:21:51):
Peace. Yeah, he made some throws at the flip pass
to Collins. Hell, did you see Josh Allen's two hand
chest pass for the score too? Yeah. I mean they're
just different that that's called. You don't prepare for those things,
you just react as an athlete.
Speaker 1 (01:22:08):
I thought that c. J.
Speaker 5 (01:22:09):
Strod made a couple throws that were abnormal in a
good way that makes sense. The one where he's going
down and I don't know how he got the ball
with velocity. Was a sack waiting to happen, and he's
still and he threw it with accuracy and velocity. He's
really good too, working to his right, being flushed out
of the pocket, he makes some accurate throws on the sideline.
(01:22:30):
He's really good for a guy who's not considered a
play extender, but is good enough and capable enough of
doing it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
And then to.
Speaker 5 (01:22:36):
Hold the ball, hold the ball, hold the ball.
Speaker 9 (01:22:38):
Time, time, time, get through all your reads, and then
pump the ball right there at the front pile on
with accuracy to Anico Collins, who had the wherewithal to
find the silent. Yeah, and to find the gap and
the hole in the defense where there was some spacing.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
But yeah, I can tell you that it's not making
those throws is not easy, my man. They they really aren't.
He makes some throws that are why he's at a
different level when it comes to just skill set and Brian,
you know, I think he was asking you about what
do you think, Bobby Slow it's doing different. I have tried,
(01:23:13):
like crazy, honest to God, every single week to go
back and figure why. I know, injuries get in, but
you know what, Detroit's injured, Buffalo's people get hurt. It
just looks to me that there's a lack of trust
on the aggressiveness and that they trust their defense so
much that they almost feel like they don't think they
got to score thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:23:33):
I don't know if that's their thought prize, but from
my vantage point, I don't know why. And it's I
think the offensive. The collateral damage of an early season
bad offensive line protecting the quarterback leads to a quarterback
doing stuff that he's not used to doing, which leads
to a play caller saying, well, how do I keep
him away from that? So we don't lose a lot,
so we're not missing the stuff he normally makes. And
(01:23:54):
then the play callers to the head coach.
Speaker 5 (01:23:56):
The head coach play a smart you know, the message
starts to get it, starts to filter through the whole team,
and then when you're running back gets banged up. Then
your first thought is, Okay, I got to put the
ball on CJ's hand, But how do we do it?
This seems to me they're playing less aggressive vertical football
this year. Yeah, and they've missed some throws or plays
(01:24:16):
that they don't normally miss it or that we would
consider ordinary. But I can't tell you, and I wish
I could about what's going on in Bob slow Bobby
Slowk's psyche of going into a game. You're playing a
hell of a defense this week, brother, And I'm just
telling you, man, it is. I almost feel like, if
(01:24:36):
you want to see the aggressiveness back, they have to
play like they're a three win team with nothing to
game lose, but their jobs.
Speaker 1 (01:24:45):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 (01:24:45):
Yeah? And then you let it rip and say let's
go be aggressive. Man, I'm playing And I think if
you go that by doing it smart, you open up
a belief that the team says, Oh, we're back to
be in the aggressivelf because they are really going to
need more vertical push in the game to win in
the playoffs. Star these next two weeks and in the playoffs,
they're they're gonna have to play better. It feels to
me like they're playing it a little safer as opposed
(01:25:06):
to playing at times offensively not to lose, as opposed
to dominate you with forty point.
Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
That's what it looks like to me.
Speaker 5 (01:25:13):
I feel like for multiple weeks now, that's how the
offense rolls playing. It feels like it's been like that
the majority of the season. You're really frustrating where.
Speaker 9 (01:25:21):
It looks like on defense, they're playing like the offense
did last year. We are cutting it loose, steed, we're
playing to our strengths. We got a quarterback last year,
throw it, put it in his hands. We got good
and Nico's elevating and all that, and we got this
year and.
Speaker 5 (01:25:33):
They got more weapons this year. And on defense, we've
had guys.
Speaker 9 (01:25:35):
We are going after it the off The defense looks
like last year's aggressiveness and smart making, I mean, not
killing themselves with stupidity and last year's offense looks like
this year's aggressive, wise Texans defense. The key is to
win the whole thing, you got to do them both.
And if you don't, because they're special teams, is they're
(01:25:56):
they're really good. Yeah, it's I could have sw or
just like the Astros, I would have never gone into
either season this year thinking here's the problem offense for
either team, and here we are. It cost one a
chance to go deeper into the playoffs and try to
get to a World Series.
Speaker 5 (01:26:14):
And right now it is we look upon. I'll go
through eight teams i'd rather have than the Texans right
now in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
Yeah, we did it last week.
Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
Yeah, I mean, and I'm not saying that that's gonna
that's gonna be the case in three weeks. But today
I'd rather have Minnesota's offense. And I want you to
think about that for a second. Yeah, let's Sam Darnold
at the helm and over five years from now, I
don't think that's gonna be the case. But I'm just
saying today our trust is flipped. That we're hoping an
(01:26:47):
offense plays well. We know the defense is gonna play well. Yeah,
and that and and that can become a problem. The
offense has got some fixing to do, man, and you're
gonna have to do it on the fly, because there
ain't no we ain't got time to bleed, not against
Kansas's start the Dwayne before we get to break Dwaine.
Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
What's happening?
Speaker 19 (01:27:05):
Hey, guys, I wanted to make a comment about the
game this well Saturday, both the Texans and the Chiefs,
I believe, you know, I mean, they're having a real
good season this year, and I think that the NFL
has done a fantastic job in now. These last three
(01:27:28):
games in the NFL, you know, are going to be watchable.
I mean it used to be that you didn't want
to see a game because of this or that, But
these last three games for each and every team are
going to be watchable because do you have teams that
are trying to keep them the Kansas City Chiefs from
going into the playoffs, you know, with the home field advantage,
(01:27:52):
and then you've got teams that are protecting their teams
from you know, basically just stopping you know, stop up
in the offense or defense. It's going to be a
real good last three games for this season in the
NFL and the other comment I wanted to make was
that that linebacker for the San Francisco forty nine ers,
(01:28:14):
he was dressed, he was ready to play, and he
was soaking on the bench. There's no room for soaking
in the NFL. And once he got sent back to
the locker room and he's about to lose three point
five million for what he did, which the NFL is
you know already the PaperWorks in and everything there. I
(01:28:35):
don't think he's.
Speaker 10 (01:28:35):
Going to get his money.
Speaker 19 (01:28:37):
And I just that's all I wanted to say. Guys,
Merry Christmas is peace be with y'all?
Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
Meryor Christmas? Dwayne, thank you?
Speaker 5 (01:28:43):
What was his last player? Who do he say? Devondrick Coles? Okay, yeah,
forty nine. He's talked to the stuff we talked about
last year, so is one. I would not let him
anywhere near my locker room. I don't care how desperate
I am. As a team, you you broke all trust
from any In my opinion, I would if I was
a team and they didn't. Let's say they cut him
and then you know they're not going through the suspension.
(01:29:04):
They cut him. If I need a linebacker, I'll find
somebody else. I'll find a better teammate and a lesser player. Yeah,
I'd rather go get a practice squad guys.
Speaker 9 (01:29:12):
And us, because even if that guy comes in you,
you're not assured you're playing for me right away either
your depth depth. So if that's if that's the case,
you're gonna do the same thing to me. Now, I
don't see. I'll give all kinds. Guy makes a physical
mistake that that was a conscious decision to simply lift
his leg and urinate on his own organization teammate because
he got beat.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Out and walk off the field in the middle of
the third quarter. Yeah, no, no thanks. I would not.
Speaker 5 (01:29:37):
I wouldn't if I was the head coach in the
gm K to he says, you do, we got a
good football play. No, he's not a good football player
if he's a crappy ass teammate and he's a crappy
team and selfish is a mofo with this, No thanks,
and he's not good enough to be a diva.
Speaker 9 (01:29:50):
He's a good player, nineties, He ain't. Fred Warner didn't
do this, Okay, green Law, that's exactly in front of him.
Speaker 5 (01:29:59):
Greenlaw.
Speaker 9 (01:30:00):
Just for the best stop man. When people say, yeah,
I saw some people make an excuse. Well, well, let's
give him a chance to reac No. No, you've been
in that locker room all this time and seen all this,
and you're gonna walk during a game and kind and
know it.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
It's your ass out. No, yeah, you're you're a pump
a chance. You are a punk teammate, You are a
punk to no part of it. Sorry, give me a
practice squad.
Speaker 1 (01:30:22):
I'm willing to lose.
Speaker 9 (01:30:24):
I'm willing to lose a game not to have him
in my locker because I send the wrong message. And
then and if I'm a teammate, I'm like, why why
would you bring a guy quit on another team? I'm
not interested. You can get beat somebody better than you. Okay,
you you consciously quit on another team, you can get
the step and brother, you just you just committed career suicide.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
If I'm making the decision, absolutely done.
Speaker 5 (01:30:46):
All right, Let's let's look at the two defenses for
the Chiefs and the Texas one and the same. And
you say, oh, Sean, that's what I say when I
get myself these new dips from Daisy sour Cream.
Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
You heard about him?
Speaker 10 (01:30:56):
Yeah, I do?
Speaker 5 (01:30:58):
You know, I do have matter of fact, I'm take
a picture tomorrow, okay, or tonight when I bring it in.
I'm Michelle.
Speaker 9 (01:31:02):
I'm gonna send to you tonight there in refrigerator, and
I will tell you this. When you do, you dip
your chip. You just dip it in there and you go.
Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
Dog dipping a chip.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Dog.
Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
You want chips around here, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:31:13):
Chips with a great dip. Let's go celebrate. Yeah, that's
right there. Daisy Sour Cream French onion and ranch sour
cream dips. I love these dips. These new dips from
Daisy Sour Creamer are a game changer. They taste just
as good as if they were a homemade They are
made with Daisy sour cream, roal, herbs and spices. The
new dips from Daisy Sour Cream are made with ingredients
you can find in your kitchen, nothing more. So pair
(01:31:34):
them with your favorite chips, wings, vegetables or other foods
and give these new French onion and ranch dips from
Daisy Sour Kream a try. Have them for your game
day spread, have them for your holiday party which is
Christmas and New Year's Eve. Your guests are gonna love
them and they're gonna go get their own. You can
find them at your local grocery store, especially Chib's. I
saw him again last night as I went grocery shopping,
(01:31:55):
picked up a couple more. I'm gonna be munched on
those all week again. It's the new Daisy dip from
Daisy sour Cream that French onion and ranch sour cream dip.
Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
The Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 1 (01:32:10):
I love musicals and good musicals.
Speaker 5 (01:32:14):
Uh, I don't know. Am I wrong because I don't
want to go watch the ballet?
Speaker 11 (01:32:19):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:32:19):
Have we talked about this?
Speaker 17 (01:32:20):
We have?
Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:32:21):
Years ago?
Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
Like two years ago?
Speaker 19 (01:32:22):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:32:22):
No, it was like a couple of weeks ago. If
I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 5 (01:32:24):
No, I don't think so, dude, we're time clock like
your time. Two weeks ago is like last January. Sure, yes,
might have been because we were talking about we were
talking about the opera, Yeah, and the and the might
have been last Christmas.
Speaker 9 (01:32:37):
Probably was like the Nutcracker and all that. I love musicals,
but I don't and I put a ton of respect
on it, but I don't get them. When you see
people crying at the ballet, I guess you got I.
Speaker 5 (01:32:48):
Don't get it.
Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
People do that.
Speaker 5 (01:32:49):
Oh yes, crying at the ballet or the when a
good opera voice and you see people cry, I mean
the opera voices are off the charts.
Speaker 1 (01:32:56):
I love, and I love what's the big Christmas? I mean,
they'll do it.
Speaker 5 (01:33:00):
There's a certain choir, not the Tabernacle choir, you know
what I'm talking about.
Speaker 9 (01:33:06):
They do it, and they do a great Christmas. It's awesome.
I love musicals like that and listening to concerts like that.
But I got to tell you, man, I don't think
I could.
Speaker 5 (01:33:15):
I'm not. I have no interest in going to the ballet,
not for any other reason. I just I don't. I
guess I don't get it now. The strength of those
ballet unbelievable much respect. It just doesn't keep me interested.
I can't follow the storyline. Does that make sense? I
lose interests quickly.
Speaker 10 (01:33:32):
You with me on that.
Speaker 1 (01:33:33):
Yeah, I have no interests, right, and that's no disrespect
to that community. But no, I listen, they do stuff
that I couldn't.
Speaker 10 (01:33:41):
There.
Speaker 9 (01:33:41):
You go go there and get a good Christmas. You
it's phenomenal. But I just there's certain things that somebody
will enlighten me. I know, because we did.
Speaker 5 (01:33:48):
We brought briefly up and it was he I think
a year ago, and you said two weeks ago.
Speaker 9 (01:33:51):
But that's okay. Yeah, the ballot, I got the ballot
of the ballot. I'd give tickets away even if they
were in the perfect I don't have in the interest.
And that's just being honest, but respect, because I wouldn't
even tried to tempt what they do.
Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
No, but I just I don't. I'd fall asleep. Damn
you feel me.
Speaker 5 (01:34:11):
The guy that you're dating, didn't y'all go, yeah, well
that that's what Well, that's what turned me off on it.
He tried to put some of these moves. You put
some of these moves off, and you try to give
me in a couple of these and I'm like, dude,
I can't. I can't get all my toes like that.
Speaker 1 (01:34:28):
I love that you do.
Speaker 5 (01:34:29):
You say, does your boyfriend practice vallet? And then I
tell you about my boyfriend practicing ballet? And you're like, dude,
what's wrong with you? You just let me? They're right,
I lead you to you're drinking the body. You're not
supposed to do that.
Speaker 9 (01:34:43):
Hey, I told you I'm transparent. I'm here to entertain
somebody who doesn't notice his listen. That's all right though,
whole It's okay, but I'm not. But I'll play along
if you need me too. I played a good gay
man in a movie.
Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
Right right, you did play that.
Speaker 5 (01:35:00):
It's okay though, That's what I'm saying. But so the
ballet thing for me, I don't. It's not just but
if female me, it's I have no Christ But I don't.
Speaker 9 (01:35:08):
I can't follow it either, but I love I mean,
you want to talk about strength, it's like watching the
gymnast when they press to a handstand from a sitting position,
or they do the iron cross on the friggin on
the on the uh, the ring the rings you do,
your joints would end up in your ear.
Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
So the strength of the same thing with ballet. But
it's just it's not something like Christmas time that I
can't wait to go to, you know. Yeah, Trans Siberian Orchestra,
Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and they're gonna send Christmas cuts for
me for two and a half hours all in all day.
Speaker 1 (01:35:38):
That one, no question. Yeah, let's talk to Ray. Ray,
what's happening?
Speaker 11 (01:35:43):
Hey, good morning, guys. Hey, you guys were talking about
bad sports shows earlier. Uh, I started listening to you
guys when Mike and Mike in the Morning broke up,
and I thought Mike Golick was going to get his
own show, and then they gave it to Greenberg. And
I mean, the best adjective I can say for that
(01:36:04):
guy is he's a clown.
Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (01:36:07):
Do you all have any reason why he got it
over over Golick. He has no football knowledge other than
Jets jests. Yet I mean, I'm like, they got Aaron
Rodgers and he was all talking about the the Jets
winning the super Bowl and I'm like, dude, they will
never win another super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:36:28):
I could probably give you insight, but I would because
Mike and I are pretty close, and you know, I
haven't been there for twelve years and seeing I mean
when that show started and they put them together, like
Tony Bruno was doing that show before Greenberg took it
over Tony and Mike. As Tony Bruno, Mike and then
Mike auditioned one thing led to do another. But as
(01:36:49):
far as the breakup, I would probably at of being
out of respect, would let prefer let those guys explain it.
Speaker 9 (01:36:58):
Mike Golick that I think that that would be fair.
It probably I don't think that in my opinion.
Speaker 5 (01:37:05):
Well, I don't think everybody on that show or everybody
there wanted it to break up.
Speaker 9 (01:37:10):
Does that make sense. I think that you go ahead
and read between the lines how you want. But I'd
prefer one of those. And they both treated me great.
I love them both for different reasons. And then they
were teammates for a long time, and Mike and iired
Golick are pretty damn tight. Came out of high school
the same time. I've known each other for a lot
of years. I would prefer one day for Mike to
(01:37:31):
write his book. And you know, Mike's not going to
throw anybody under the bus, you know, but I think
he'd be pretty fair and saying that that show was
withstood the test of time put him in the Radio
Hall of Fame. They both went to the Radio Hall
of Fame because of it. So it was a bummer
to see it go because that was truly one of
the good ones.
Speaker 1 (01:37:48):
It really was.
Speaker 11 (01:37:49):
Yeah, And that's when I started listening to you guys,
because I was like, I'm tired of the national news.
And a previous scholar had said it was all about
Cowboys or Nick's or or Dodgers or you know, one
of the national shows. And I'm like, you know, I
grew up in the Houston area. I don't care about
those teams. I mean, I'm not a I'm not really
a big, big basketball fan. I know you're not gonna
(01:38:11):
like this, but I did pull for the Spurs in
their heyday because when I was a kid, I met
Dave Robinson and he kind of influenced me and joined
the Navy.
Speaker 5 (01:38:19):
What a class do, what a human being David Robinson is.
Aside from being a great player.
Speaker 11 (01:38:25):
I'm not. I just I've never really been that huge
of a basketball fan. But anyway, well, you guys have
a great day, and I'll tell we're glad you listened.
Speaker 1 (01:38:36):
Ray, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:38:37):
And easier to get all your local stuff from people
who live here than the National when they're covering it all.
But yeah, I would say that one thing I know
about Mike Golick, you'll find he's one of the great
team players of all time. I can tell you that.
But like I said, they both treat me good. I
reserve the right, I mean I think they reserve the right.
Shay say for those guys at some point to the
(01:38:58):
Full Deep X when they as to why that broke away. Yeah,
you know, and you know they and it worked kind of.
You know, it worked because they're so different. Golic and
Greenberg couldn't be more different. One's metrosexual, one wants to
put on a good play golf and a god you know,
and I mean Mike, he will say that, he said
about himself all the time. Yeah, Harry looking good. You know,
(01:39:19):
Golick's a defensive tackle right and great and and looks
great and did it. But just it was like when
people say John Klayon, we were he couldn't have been
more opposite the jock and the and yet he was
one of my best friends. Ye, so in order for
it to work, their chemistry with Mike, and Mike was
great for so long. Like all good things, things come
to an end. And both of them have great careers
still and green Berk's thriving and Golick thrives and he's
(01:39:40):
a grandpa and all that. But they deserve to talk
about that. That's none of my business. Yeah, yeah, even
though I think I have a pretty good idea. Yeah,
from what I've not pretty good. I I probably could
tell you ninety percent of it. Yeah, of the reasons
I believe, And you know, with people, you still talk to.
But I don't talk to people to let other people
know about their business. I talk to people to find
out why would them that good? So we let it
(01:40:01):
go because I like good stuff. And when they're friends,
you don't like to see stuff like a breakup, like
a marriage, right, you don't want to see a breakup.
So respect for both families. And they've treated me good.
But we lost a damn good show when that when
that broke up, there's no doubt. Man, sure did seven
seven ninety got uh? The phone lines lighting up this morning.
We'll get to you callers next sportslock seven eight.
Speaker 9 (01:40:20):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect
gift and you could be giving follow la la la
la la la la lots of cash.
Speaker 5 (01:40:31):
Right, So give holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery
and you could make very holiday, very merry. It's a
good gift to give, right, there's some coin, there's a
chance of some big cash and a happy feeling on
the Texas Lottery. It's the perfect gift. Give those holiday
scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and make their holiday
very special. That's the Texas Lottery. But the Shawn Salisbury
(01:40:54):
show continued and uh, we're talking about, you know, me
having to me losing my dog over the weekend. And
he told me in twenty twenty they lost their dog.
I believe his dog was twelve, twelve or thirteen, and
it was during COVID and the vet don't tell me this.
Speaker 1 (01:41:14):
The vet would not let them inside the facility.
Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
They had to go.
Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
They had to do a drive through to put their
dog down. One of them they did, he said, they
they it was like a little shack, little little uh
not tent but some kind you're dropping off a recyclable.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
Yeah. Yeah, they had to pull up like a goodwill thing.
They put the clothes ear, which is a good thing
pretty much. Not with a human being's life. What I
call dogs a dog to me, dogs are humans.
Speaker 5 (01:41:44):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
Yeah, he was better. Yeah, he said it was either
they could bring the dog.
Speaker 5 (01:41:48):
They could come outside, take the dog inside and do
that without the family there, or they could do it
with the family outside. What a joke, you realize. You
want to talk about how sheep of this country. What
a joke, man, I told you you're gonna would you
wear a mask in a grocery store? What would you
tell them? Right now? Rest? Will you say what I
would say? But I'll tell you you never happened, is it?
(01:42:10):
Can you imagine your dog that's your best friend. Yeah,
and they're going to tell you it's it's we got it,
We just got But it happened to families and happened.
Parents didn't get to save kids didn't get say by
the aging parents. I mean, it's just I don't even
want to go into it because I think since I've
been alive, it's one of the more fraudulent things that
ever hit this country.
Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
I think it might be the most fraudulent.
Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Yeah. I can't think of a time more where I
go back and I think from like in twenty twenty,
twenty twenty to twenty twenty two, I almost feel like
we were living in a sci fi movie.
Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
We were then.
Speaker 5 (01:42:39):
I'm like, yeah, then I'm like the things I don't
even want to remember that they make there, Like do
you remember when we had to do this?
Speaker 19 (01:42:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:42:45):
And it costs that person their business.
Speaker 1 (01:42:47):
And now we go back and well, we know who
should be.
Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
Who should be stripped of their of any voice and
be thrown into the slammer.
Speaker 9 (01:42:56):
But that'd being said. I just cannot believe what this
country went through. I can't in the fact that losing
a dog, that he had to get rid of his
dog like that. No, son, No, you know what well
it was. I there's no way I'll see anything more
fraudulent that.
Speaker 5 (01:43:16):
In my life. Don't You won't didn't buy in then,
wasn't bought in then, and and and I will never ever,
I will not. I will not bend need of that
didn't then, didn't then one of the most never had
a test. You understand this, I've never had I've never
had a swab ever, and I won't. They may swab
(01:43:38):
something else, but they ain't swabbed my nose. I gotta
dose you for that, okay. And it ain't going to
do for.
Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
That reason either.
Speaker 5 (01:43:45):
And people treating you like a like you are trash
if you didn't go by what they wanted. Oh, you
got to be a kind of gentler. Then when you
don't do what they want, they're not kind of gentler.
Speaker 1 (01:43:55):
What what a screwed up late?
Speaker 8 (01:43:56):
It?
Speaker 5 (01:43:56):
Don't even get me started dude, because say that for
for the for the podcast part, that's.
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
Yeah, it's going on.
Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
Que what's going on?
Speaker 1 (01:44:06):
My fellas?
Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
Y'all doing all right?
Speaker 20 (01:44:07):
Yes, sir, say man. I had to get and man,
this is the best part of the year. Well now
with the college playoffs. I mean you you just overloaded
with football. I mean started from Thursday all the way
through Monday.
Speaker 10 (01:44:22):
You know you football up. I can't think of nothing
better to do to just sit around, give me a
bunch of snacks and watch football for three or four days.
Me being retired. Hey, that's the best part of my
life right now.
Speaker 20 (01:44:38):
But I wanted to run some across you tell us,
Do y'all know any guys who were all Americans in school?
They were roommates and they both made it to the
Hall of.
Speaker 5 (01:44:50):
Fame All Americans in school in college, roommates in college
and both made it to the Hall of Fame, to
the Pro Football or college Hall of.
Speaker 10 (01:45:01):
Fame Pro Football.
Speaker 5 (01:45:05):
Okay, I need either the university or the team they
played for in the NFL, or if they didn't play
on the same team. I got to have a little hint.
Speaker 10 (01:45:13):
I tell you that, you're gonna know it. But they
both played at Jackson State University.
Speaker 9 (01:45:19):
At Jackson State University teammates and roommates. It wasn't one
of the Selman brothers right now, they were at Oklahoma,
so it couldn't have been that Robert.
Speaker 5 (01:45:29):
Brazil did he play there? That's one one, Robert Brazil
Hall of famers and roommates. Who was his roommate in college.
Speaker 1 (01:45:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (01:45:41):
They called him Swetness.
Speaker 5 (01:45:42):
I think Walter Peyton. There you go, Yeah, you think
they think they were pretty good?
Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:45:48):
Yeah, good gracious. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:45:50):
One was just as physical as it ever gets on
the offensive side, and the other one was as nasty
linebacker and as physical as we've ever had.
Speaker 8 (01:45:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:45:59):
Yeah, you know when they got you, doctor Dune.
Speaker 1 (01:46:02):
You ain't lying, brother, You ain't lying.
Speaker 10 (01:46:05):
But y'all have a nice holiday if I don't speak
to you again. And uh and man, I love the show.
And uh, y'all keep up what you're doing.
Speaker 5 (01:46:13):
Ye, Merry Christmas. But you you you deserve a good retirement, man,
so enjoy it. I hope you have a great holiday season.
Speaker 2 (01:46:21):
Yeah, yea, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:46:24):
I love guys. He's gonna sit around, get himself four
days of great football. What did you just say. I said, really,
did you catch that? I said, love you?
Speaker 1 (01:46:32):
What I say? What I say? You said, I love guys.
Speaker 5 (01:46:38):
I love guys like you. I do love their retirement.
You're gonna sit around you love guys. I love you guys.
Then you started talking about the football, so it went
from man, I love guys, and then you have the
football and whatever whatever. I really love guys. Oh yeah,
and by the way, football I didn't I actually didn't
catch it either. I think my mind was I love
guys like you enjoying football all weekend long, and then
(01:47:00):
the four Yeah you went, man, I love guys. Yeah,
but he you know, him, him being able to sit
around and watch football week and I'm like, wait, what,
I love guys. Yeah, Like I was trying to add
a little sexy tone to it. Yeah, cues good people. Yeah,
trying to spice it up. I want to. I love
when people get to enjoy the retirement that they you know,
the entire retirement that they plan for. Hopefully it's retirement
(01:47:22):
he planned that he wants, right, Yeah, enjoy the hell
out of it, man, no question retirement. You earn that,
you know, that's for damn sure.
Speaker 1 (01:47:29):
You ain't ever going to retire though you know, probably not,
I'll be doing something.
Speaker 5 (01:47:33):
I don't retire for retire from what if I'm not
doing this, I'm you know, running a business or invalue
business or yeah, I don't why what are you gonna do? Why?
Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
I don't want to sleep till nine in the morning.
Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
I like it.
Speaker 9 (01:47:45):
I mean I'd like to sleep in a little like
another one hour. I love engaging with fans. I love
coming to work with you guys. When I say fans
listeners other fans or not. I like having to prepare
for it and watch it. I don't know why. Well,
I mean golfers when they quit playing on the tour,
I'm sure they still go play golf with their buddies.
Speaker 6 (01:48:04):
Right.
Speaker 9 (01:48:04):
We have the opportunity to do what you do sitting
around your home and somebody pays you for it. But
I just love the banter. You got to have a
purpose every day, whether it's grandkids, kids, anybody. Also, I
think you have self worthwise. You got to have a purpose,
like you're doing something now.
Speaker 5 (01:48:19):
I'm not saying that this is changing lives on our show,
but it may be change in mind, maybe change in yours.
Speaker 9 (01:48:25):
Because I get something to come to I don't. Now,
I understand why my dad would. But my dad was
not retired when he died. He's still working. I understand
why somebody who works that hard all that time, like
I'm beat down.
Speaker 1 (01:48:37):
They deserve that.
Speaker 9 (01:48:38):
But for me, come on, man, yeah, the hardest when
you get in the initial wake up call preparing, when
you say, well you prepare hard, Yeah, I prepare hard.
Speaker 5 (01:48:46):
But we're watching sports to prepare. Talking to people in
the sports world, they if a broadcaster tells you, yeah, man,
my job, slap them right up side their frigginhead. They're
covering sports now to be ashamed of themselves. I just
I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
It's embarrassing.
Speaker 5 (01:49:01):
And you got a gig that eight billion people would
want to have, right, and you get why in the
world would I retire?
Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
Yeah, that's the craziest thing.
Speaker 6 (01:49:08):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
People that do what we do, and even on the
higher levels, and complain about it, bitch and moan and
complain about things. Come on, we all have stuff to
complain about. You know, our flight was delayed or I
had to get up three thirdy I'm exhausted from standing
watching a West Coast game. But come on, now, just
stop and everyone like yeah, My job's a grind. Yeah okay, yeah,
and you know what in the direct deposit three million
(01:49:29):
bucks had it. That's a pretty grind, brother, Yeah, okay.
People working a lot harder for a lot less. I
never feel sorry for I respect the grind, but I
never feel sorry. Man, my job's so tough. Why man,
I broadcast the game Thursday? Broadcasting game Saturday? Oh man? Oh,
so what a bummer you had to You had to
do a college game Thursday, and then you were in
Baton Rouge doing LSU Alabama. But what that sucks to
(01:49:50):
be you? And I hope you're okay. Yeah, it sucks
being famous? Yeah, good at your gig now that I
actually think that's harder for some being famous could be
a bigger pay in the ass in the job, it elf,
because you've got to deal with all those right, right,
But for those guys that are famous. But why why
would I retire from something I love to do. I
don't consider this work even though I prepare for it. Right,
(01:50:10):
it's it's you know, you do what you love. You
never work a day in your life. Triply cut him

Speaker 1 (01:51:36):
Trying to get through all these calls. Garrett, you're up first.
Speaker 21 (01:51:40):
Hey, good morning guys, Thanks for taking my call. Great
show as always.
Speaker 10 (01:51:44):
Uh.
Speaker 21 (01:51:45):
I've just had a quick question on the Texans. You know,
they say Patrick Mahomes might sit uh met this week
coming up, and then of course you know David Montgomery
had the season ending injury. I was curious on your
thoughts on resting the tech since players, when they're going
to start doing that since they have the division clenched
(01:52:05):
and all, they're playing for a seeding and uh, and
then kind of what's the fine line and doing that
where they're unprepared for.
Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
The playoffs, uh, if you're rest them too much.
Speaker 21 (01:52:15):
So UH, that's all I got for you. Thank you
for taking my call and uh and always great to
hear y'all.
Speaker 5 (01:52:21):
Thank you, Garrett, appreciated seven one seven iey, We'll we'll
get to that real quick. Starting Gary first, Gary, what's happening?
Speaker 13 (01:52:31):
Hey, good morning?
Speaker 10 (01:52:32):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:52:33):
No, actually, your service is not very good on your end, man.
Speaker 5 (01:52:37):
How about now is anything there?
Speaker 13 (01:52:38):
You better?
Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
There you go, Now you're good.
Speaker 18 (01:52:41):
Okay, Hey, I have a question about the Chiefs backup quarterback.
First of all, i've i've i've bummed out that uh
Mahomes is not playing. That's like I remember the Rockets
were playing back in the day they were playing.
Speaker 5 (01:52:53):
There's it's not uh, it's not one hundred percent that
he's not playing. His his status is still unknown.
Speaker 18 (01:52:59):
Oh well, okay, well good that that makes me feel
a little bit better because you want to play the
best when they got all the players. That way you
can gauge where you're at. But who is the backup
quarterback for the Chiefs?
Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
Carson Wentz? Carson Wentz, Oh, okay, he's a he's an
older guy.
Speaker 9 (01:53:15):
He No, he's actually probably this would be year six
or seven and he's still in his wins. Has got
to be pushing thirty right now, six seven thirty one.
Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
Yeah, so he's not.
Speaker 5 (01:53:27):
Is his stats pretty pretty decent? Well, he's struggled.
Speaker 9 (01:53:30):
The last he he was, you know, obviously the top
pick in the draft when he went was the first
or second pick, first pick, wasn't he wins the number
one pick went to Philly, remembery he had the MVP season,
got hurt and yeah, and then then uh, Nick Foles
took over. They went and won the Super Bowl and
and Carson was never I mean had flashes and do
you realize at that like third year in the league,
(01:53:51):
he was voted by the players and like that NFL
Network game, the players picked him as a top five player,
top ten player in the league. He was on the left,
he kind of right, and then he left, he lost
his job. It didn't work well. They traded him to Indianapolis.
It did not work well there. He was the second pick, yes, second, Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:54:08):
That's right. Who was the first pick that year in
twenty sixteen.
Speaker 9 (01:54:11):
Yeah, he was North Dakota State, right, So the second pick,
he was a top pick, top three pick either way.
But Jared, that's right, golf was and golf's playing out
of his mind. So as the first pick, he's playing
like the first pick. Then he went to the Colts,
then to Washington and it's never really people have wondered
if his you know, priorities, does he love football, like
there was a lot of that going on. But he's
(01:54:33):
six ' five, he's two hundred and thirty five pay
hes a big, talented guy who wouldn't have been picked.
And if somehow he lost his confidence after that Philadelphia
thing and he's never recovered from it as far as
being a dominant starter, but he's he's talented.
Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
The question is how much of it will you see? Yeah?
Speaker 18 (01:54:48):
So so now he's just kind of holding the clip
clipboard for like our home, our backup quarter right.
Speaker 5 (01:54:53):
And maybe hoping to get a game where he gets
another opportunity to be a starter somewhere, or maybe he's
comfortable being a backup where he doesn't have to be
the guy. Some guys get to that point in their career.
So I wouldn't I would put it this way. I
wouldn't call it a if Patrick Mahomes doesn't play, I
wouldn't call it an easy win for the for the Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:55:12):
I still think they'll have their trust.
Speaker 18 (01:55:13):
It's going to be exciting anyway. Sure is great, great day,
great show.
Speaker 6 (01:55:17):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
Appreciate you, Thank you. I appreciate it Gary and real
quick as goo to Gilbert. Gilbert, I got about forty
five seconds for you.
Speaker 1 (01:55:22):
What's up?
Speaker 10 (01:55:24):
Hey?
Speaker 19 (01:55:24):
Yea?
Speaker 10 (01:55:25):
I want to talk about Texans, how they're gonna do
that as shows and I think they're gonna be okay,
and I think the Longhorns are gonna do good. And
you were talking about people that love their jobs.
Speaker 11 (01:55:35):
What I've been weather for forty two years?
Speaker 10 (01:55:36):
And then I'm still.
Speaker 1 (01:55:37):
Going damn, Gilbert, that's a hell of a career, man,
he's been doing what for? Well done? Yes, that's freaking awesome, man,
love it and you probably love getting up and going
to work every day.
Speaker 5 (01:55:47):
Right, go take it, go to Horns, Thank Gilbert.
Speaker 1 (01:55:51):
But forty did he say? Forty forty two years?
Speaker 5 (01:55:53):
As weater?
Speaker 1 (01:55:55):
What a skill set that I don't have?
Speaker 12 (01:55:57):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:55:58):
Garrett asked about sitting text and players real quick before
we get the top of the hour, because they're going
to switch to astros.
Speaker 1 (01:56:04):
Should they sit players.
Speaker 5 (01:56:07):
Right now if you're hurt, Yes, if you're hurt, sit,
if you're injured, sit if you're hurt and can play one,
that's a that's a game time type of decision.
Speaker 9 (01:56:18):
I ain't setting healthy players yet. No, we're three weeks away.
If they don't play for three weeks, that's like a
that's a full training camp.
Speaker 5 (01:56:26):
Yes, that's not that you can't simulate practice field stuff,
stuff that you got to go through.
Speaker 1 (01:56:35):
That is what I hate.
Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
Here's what you got to that I always grapple with
is like the Chiefs are that I say you've sewn
up the home field advantage in the middle of December,
and then they don't play the last week of the season,
they don't play during the bye week, and then you
finally play the next one.
Speaker 9 (01:56:52):
I don't like three weeks off to get healthy. Yes
to rest players two weeks now now the last game
of the season. If it doesn't mean anything, I probably
sit them all. Yes, I'm playing a lot of backups
and sitting them all if it has no right. But this,
you got to stay in football mode. You can't well,
what if if I went what if?
Speaker 5 (01:57:09):
Then I'd start sitting guys in week four if I
was worried about the what if factor?
Speaker 1 (01:57:13):
Yeah, can't do it now. It's too early for any
team to do it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:57:16):
Now Mahomes, there's different. If Mahomes is ninety percent and
he still says he's hurt and he can play. That's
a major risk because no Mahomes, no super Bowl championship
for you just can't do it. It's too And and
if he is healthy, you play him. Why you still
got three week?
Speaker 1 (01:57:31):
I mean you don't.
Speaker 5 (01:57:31):
You're gonna get a bye week. It's so you don't
you don't want to miss all that football. Yeah, no,
I'm not ready to sit him.
Speaker 9 (01:57:38):
We're playing our full arsenal healthy players, and we're playing
to win them the friggin game this week.
Speaker 5 (01:57:43):
Yeah, gotta go win, no doubt, go win. All right,
let's turn our attention to the Houston Astros. What's next?
Still got a hold first base, Still got a hold
center field? Let's talk about it. Next to sport stock
seven to eighty.

Speaker 11 (02:01:48):

What the hey? By the way, you want to want
to see? You want to see?
Speaker 5 (02:02:32):
You know with all the Caitlin Clark and all that stuff.
Uh go check out uh USC's women's basket. What's her name?
Juju Watkins? Yeah, she's a stud. Uh you think she's
worth the prices? Does two admissions? She can ball man Yeah,
there's no doubt. Least somebody USC can ball. Interesting, interesting
(02:02:55):
spout the lie. The Pine is one and six and
he's talking about who can.
Speaker 1 (02:02:59):
What's USC isn's basketball team? Not very good?
Speaker 5 (02:03:03):
I know you get recruits, you better recognize hold. Why
don't you check it out?
Speaker 1 (02:03:07):
I'll just check it out. Let me find it. Why
don't you give them a lookxki let's see, let's go
to the Big Ten.
Speaker 5 (02:03:15):
We're in a different conference now, so might get a
little tough, a little more physical around the glass.
Speaker 1 (02:03:18):
Same with Soul ross Man.
Speaker 5 (02:03:19):
We're up at D two now we're getting our ass
when we're ohing three in conference already.
Speaker 1 (02:03:23):
Saint Mary's beat our ass.
Speaker 5 (02:03:25):
Western New Mexico beat us by twelve, Saint Ed's beat
us by good god, twenty one.
Speaker 1 (02:03:31):
What do you for the Saint Mary's beat us by
twenty seven? Again?
Speaker 5 (02:03:35):
Come on, man, might have to give up your season
tickets at the ross Man. I'm gonna stop donating. Yeah,
there goes. I'm gonna drop my n L N NIL collective.
Speaker 1 (02:03:45):
You're a big collective. Southern cal is seven to for
this this year. They are one and one in the
Big ten.
Speaker 5 (02:03:50):
Quick, so i'd probably quit hate and just pretty good.
We're not bad. We'll pitch well. Beat Chattanooga. Look out
he throw out all the records?
Speaker 1 (02:04:00):
You play tomorrow against c s U north Ridge?
Speaker 10 (02:04:05):
What is that?
Speaker 5 (02:04:06):
Colorada State? Cal State University north Ridge, far from campus
like the Fullerton area ridges out in the valley.
Speaker 1 (02:04:13):
I take that Backata doors for seven and three. Dude,
you don't you know what you do? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:04:18):
Throw them all out, throw all the records, all the
records on us, your favorite eighty six win.
Speaker 1 (02:04:24):
I might throw it. I might throw some money down
on it. I might do it.
Speaker 5 (02:04:27):
Yeah, a little parlay, Yeah, I don't. Yeah, my Trojan's
stuck a biscuit. What's up, biscuit? Appreciate youruldon hey man as.
Speaker 10 (02:04:38):
I I'm glad you did try and bring up basketball. Man,
And I don't know the state of takes. I guess
we don't believe in basketball down here.
Speaker 11 (02:04:45):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:04:50):
Did you listen to the show yesterday? Man, I talked
about the Rockets more than anybody. I watched that game
Friday night or Saturday night.
Speaker 10 (02:05:02):
Yeah, you're gonna watch the game tonight.
Speaker 1 (02:05:06):
They don't play tonight.
Speaker 10 (02:05:08):
The Rockets don't play the NBA game tonight.
Speaker 16 (02:05:11):
Is not.
Speaker 10 (02:05:12):
What is there a game tonight?
Speaker 1 (02:05:15):
I don't know in the n B A, n B A.
Speaker 10 (02:05:17):
Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (02:05:19):
You talking about you're talking about the NBA Cup Finals.
Speaker 1 (02:05:22):
Yes, sir, An't gonna give a damn about that. Plus
the Rockets right now.
Speaker 10 (02:05:26):
My boy, you're making my boy.
Speaker 5 (02:05:28):
Milwaukee out Oklahoma City.
Speaker 1 (02:05:29):
Man, who cares.
Speaker 10 (02:05:31):
Less of Rockets involved? You don't care about basketball?
Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
Yeah, pretty much unless it's you have agent Kelvin Sampson.
Speaker 19 (02:05:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (02:05:39):
And now that's a good group too. Hey, Sean women's basketball.
You see they getting the prime time game?
Speaker 5 (02:05:46):
I saw it.
Speaker 10 (02:05:47):
Oh, I think it's I think, uh it's I think
it's Juju and bet it is.
Speaker 5 (02:05:54):
Yeah, I just I saw haven't I seen them running
on Fox?
Speaker 1 (02:05:57):
Is it on Fox?
Speaker 5 (02:05:57):
I see those running? I thought I saw a bunch
of every day I keep seeing them showing Juju's highlights
and stuff, and that they're promoting it. She's she's bad now, man,
that's off the hook.
Speaker 10 (02:06:09):
They got another young lady. I can't remember what team
on the East coast, man, she man, this girl here
them Yeah, people doing some Chris Paul type of basketball moves. Man,
I'm like, yeah, the women are taken to another member.
Speaker 5 (02:06:23):
The way they can, the way they can put the
ball on the deck and do things, create shots and stuff.
It's it's fascinating, fascinating.
Speaker 10 (02:06:30):
It's not said shots, nomore, it's pull up jumpers. They're
shooting now. Man getting there at the girl from Notre Dame, Yes, sir, yeah, man?
Are you up on in Haloman a little bit?
Speaker 5 (02:06:44):
Well, you're looking at the Google machine, you know, that's
not it. You're looking at soul Ross are right.
Speaker 1 (02:06:48):
I got you.
Speaker 5 (02:06:49):
I'm sure. I just remember seeing some highlights of Hoidalgo.
And then what's the chick's name at Florida State? Oh,
my gosh, I want to say, she's leading the country
and scoring right now. Lost lost Latson. Latson is her
last name for Florida State. Yeah, she's leading the country
and scoring right now.
Speaker 22 (02:07:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (02:07:06):
Yeah, but let me let me say this, man, uh Greenberg, Man,
he moved on to digging higher heights. N that's what happened.
Speaker 9 (02:07:15):
Oh, that's that's a part of it. They had had
a lot of money with it. I don't hate him
for it. He's a friend and he's he's he's killing it, man,
I mean, doing great things.
Speaker 10 (02:07:25):
ESPN had open. I'm getting ESPN had opening. You know,
they had that show. They wanted to make a show
kind of like Good Morning America for sports yep, and
Beatle and whatever. They just didn't. It was it was floundering,
and they're like, man, let's try Greenberg and Greenberg you know,
he's probably the best facilitators in the studio right now,
(02:07:47):
and so and Ernie Johnson.
Speaker 9 (02:07:50):
Yep, he's one of the best teasers of And when
I say that, he was great and he knows how
to tease. In that segment, he's really he's so adept
and a student doing that. He's he's solid. I mean,
and they did, I mean he and then they got
the right combo to save the show. You know, they
were moving people in and out. It wasn't just a
set co host and he was this you know, he
was the stable part of it. And then they you know,
(02:08:11):
bring people in for different reasons and yeah, he's uh way.
The whole goal is you do something good and you
hope that your promotion gets to a point where you
reach whatever your dream job, whatever that is you want,
right and Mike's got it.
Speaker 5 (02:08:23):
He's doing He's got podcasts for radio and he's on TV.
Speaker 10 (02:08:26):
Yep, he's Alema of ESPN. You know, you gotta have
somebody to bid a facilitation, you know. There you go
eat a lot of personalities. Golick was a good personality,
but they tried two or three different people with Goldie.
Speaker 9 (02:08:43):
But it just you gotta have somebody who knows how
to get you the ball on your shot and also
knows how to get you push your buttons and get
you get you a shot when it's not your shot,
and puts in your answers go do something with it.
Speaker 5 (02:08:56):
Yeah, and Brian's great. Brian's great at it for for
me and for this show. And you got to have
that guy, just like you got to have somebody in
the back. You've got to have that research person who
knows how who knows exactly what you're going to say
before it comes out of your mouth so they can
validate what you're saying with the p It just that
the teamwork, it makes the dream work, right Brian, But
you do facilitators like good point guard getting baldly honest.
(02:09:18):
If you don't have it, forget it, can't do it.
I've been there, and you gotta.
Speaker 10 (02:09:22):
Behind the scenes man who's setting it up for you
like Triple.
Speaker 5 (02:09:27):
Yeah, it's all words, just getting our business. I'm going
to tell you, and I'm not This isn't kissing Tripley's backside.
But you know how much we appreciate him here. I
think we've stated it will continue to the most underappreciated.
Speaker 9 (02:09:43):
You cannot have a good radio show, whether it's our show,
Michael Berries, Uh, Joe Rogan, I don't care where you go.
Whoever is Shannon Sharp, Pat McAfee with great sidekicks and
the guy that is making sure the mew boom boom boom.
(02:10:03):
I'm telling you it's the most underrated job, not by
for who, but the most unnoticed, underrated. That's why I continue,
you cannot. I've been on shows that don't that don't
have that in my own past. Along the way you
get on that, you know, whether it's young or they're
still learning, or somebody is going on because they want
to be a host, and that's great. I'm going to
tell you what that that can debilitate a show, and
(02:10:24):
it can also make the show the best show in
the city.
Speaker 5 (02:10:27):
And when the chemistry hits, you don't let that go.
And we have it here so, and TRIPLEY is a
monster part of it. As a matter of fact, there's
big a part as either one of us are. And
I believe that's any good show. If you can't write
a script, I don't care how good your actors are. Right,
So it's the same thing here. And when you get
and teed up every day with the right stuff and
(02:10:48):
you got a producer that is dominant for us, No
complaints here, brother, I know how valuable they are and
they deserve all the praise they can get. So thank you, yes, sir,
appreciate it. Yeah, you'll talk your biscuit. Yeah, it's it's
I think we've made that. But it's true.
Speaker 1 (02:11:04):
You know, it's not just talk. I'm just telling you.
Speaker 5 (02:11:07):
I don't have to tell you, as you're seeing more
and more of the longer you're in the business, that
that can take you to new heights. And this dude,
we got right here to there's doubt, There is no
doubt about it there staying on business.
Speaker 1 (02:11:23):
He is and and he is always right here.
Speaker 9 (02:11:26):
Yeah, he'll if he ever tried to leave and do
something else and better himself, better himself, I'll just I'm
just gonna kill I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:11:34):
Just gonna kill him.
Speaker 5 (02:11:35):
Yeah, we're not.
Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
Now, we're not letting me.
Speaker 5 (02:11:37):
You don't have that relationship if you ain't date me.
D yeah, oh he leaves. Well, Hey, we like to
apologize because Sean strangled killed TRIPLEY and Brian kicked him
in the rib page trying to leave. Now, this is
our guy, man, I I uh yeah, you know what
I do. I put my arm around and say, you
ain't going, and what are we gonna do to keep you?
Speaker 1 (02:11:56):
What do you need?
Speaker 10 (02:11:57):
What do you need?
Speaker 5 (02:11:57):
That's how valuable he is so now, and that's no joke. Man,
Gotta have gotta have the Triple E's the world. But
the truth is they're hard to find. They don't they
you just they just don't come off a college campus
and land in your lap.
Speaker 10 (02:12:10):
One.
Speaker 5 (02:12:10):
That's exactly right, Yes, sir, we'd probably enhance that campus.
And we walked on there, took on that.
Speaker 6 (02:12:23):
Son.
Speaker 5 (02:12:24):
I have to take it to a whole new level. Yeah,
probably not, probably probably everything campus without us. All right,
let's talk some astros baseball next.
Speaker 1 (02:12:37):
Hey, Men's t clinic Men's ta clinic dot com.
Speaker 9 (02:12:40):
I'm talking to the dudes out there that are struggling
in low gear and not sure where they're getting their
freak on right at home?
Speaker 5 (02:12:48):
Are you any good in the sheets? Well, maybe it's
sexual wellness you need. What about full body wellness? Well?
Speaker 9 (02:12:53):
Sexual wellness seems to be always something that's talked about
when it comes a low testosterone and you don't want
it to be anything worse than That's the best way
you can do it is just go in and draw
a little blood.
Speaker 1 (02:13:02):
It's not invasive.
Speaker 9 (02:13:02):
By the end of the day you'll have your results
and get to work and on normalizing your testosterone. And
it may be sexual wellness you're concerned about it. Maybe
full body wellness. It may be energy, maybe irritability, all
those things that come under that umbrella. But if it's
full body wellness, why wouldn't you want to find out first?
Isn't that half the battle?
Speaker 5 (02:13:18):
Know one the conflicts so you can find answers to
the conflict, and that is Men's Tea Clinic can help.
Speaker 9 (02:13:24):
Nine seven to two. Go Men's Tea again, draw a
little blood. Why you stand stuck in lower gear?
Speaker 5 (02:13:28):
If you want to shift the narrative on your life,
and it is changing lives and saving them in some cases,
get to Men's Tea Clinic. It's MEN'ST Clinic dot com.
You deserve not only peace of mind, you deserve a
great year ahead. Men's T Clinic dot commnstclinic dot com
nine seven two Go Min's Tea. Let the celebration start war.
Speaker 2 (02:13:49):
Sean Salisbury, It's a Sean Salisbury show.
Speaker 5 (02:13:54):
Flatsky Stock some Astros baseball? Oh man, what's next for
the Astros? Writer covering the Astros, Brian McTaggart for MLB
excuse me, MLB dot Com, but doing it for a
long time too. Yeah, one of the best. Man, let's
see how many What year is he going into twenty
(02:14:18):
first season as Astros beat reporter for MLB dot Com. Unbelievable.
He was on MLB Network yesterday and talked about the Astros.
Speaker 1 (02:14:32):
What do you have to say?
Speaker 23 (02:14:34):
Yeah, I think getting Pretas allows them to put him
at third base if Bregman does not sign and they're
still in the running to sign Bragnant. If they do
sign Bragnant, which I think is a long shot, you
can move Pretas to first base. But they still need
to add another bat, you know, Withsnisky's going to come
in and help the bottom of that rotation. They definitely
(02:14:54):
needed another arm. Maybe they'd get a couple of their
pictures back this year healthy. But they cannot lose Kyle
Tucker and Alex Bregman and not add another impact that
whether that's you know, signing Santander trading for Aeronauto, moving
Pretis to first signing Christian Walker.
Speaker 5 (02:15:11):
There has to be another move, and I think they're
working on that.
Speaker 1 (02:15:14):
I mean, this just cannot be their off season because.
Speaker 23 (02:15:17):
That would be a big step back if they if
they lose those guys and replace them with peretis.
Speaker 1 (02:15:21):
All right, let's back up, and that's uh.
Speaker 5 (02:15:23):
Brian McTaggart of MLB dot Com on MLB Network mentioned
some names there. Obviously, Nolan Aeronauto, we've heard plenty about him.
One of the names Sean and He mentioned is Santander,
who's got power galore. Didn't he lead in the league
in home runs this year?
Speaker 1 (02:15:38):
Marriage right up there?
Speaker 5 (02:15:39):
I mean at least close top three or so? Right, Yeah,
guy had a good guy who's packing lumber man. Why
would you let him get away?
Speaker 1 (02:15:47):
Anthony Santander.
Speaker 5 (02:15:51):
H underrated?
Speaker 9 (02:15:53):
I mean trying to try an underrated name on them
my free agent, right, Yes, underrated name on the market. Right,
don't hear a lot of talk. I'm sure you're doing
his neck where he is, but uh, I'll take that
power bat here, won't you.
Speaker 5 (02:16:05):
Yeah, he was with the Orioles on a one year deal.
He is now made. He is Venezuelan. You know who
also is Venezuelan, Jose al Tuve Yep, so there's that connection.
I mean, homes Santander hit last year, let me go double.
Wasn't he an All Star? Yeah, I've been an all
I don't know if he was an All Star starter,
but I can't go back to whin the during the
(02:16:27):
season for the American League. But he did on a
one year deal. He sure made it work. He was
an All Star. He actually got MVP votes, Silver Slugger.
He hit forty four bombs. There you go. So that's
a power bat that you could use in this ballpark.
Man and here, and I'm with b Mack with Brian McTaggart.
I don't see how if you lose bragg this can't
(02:16:48):
be it. I mean assume And Brian said too, he
didn't thin they're gonna be a Bregman back, right, doesn't
think he's come back? Yeah, that that can't be your offseason. No,
so it just can't be. It just can't be.
Speaker 9 (02:16:59):
So hope there's another uh, pretty in Santanderre's a significant
move if you could get him under thirty years old.
Speaker 1 (02:17:09):
In prime of his career.
Speaker 5 (02:17:10):
Yep. Yeah, I'm not sure one body's even enough. It's
not I don't think so. No, it's not enough. You
got to find a first baseman, and you're gonna need
a third basement. A first basement, third baseman, centerfielder. H
oh and by the way, a right fielder. I forgot
Kyle Tucker's no longer an astro. I mean, there's got
to be a move that has two players that are
(02:17:32):
starting for you when they get him still to happen,
I'm not even talking about the ones still to happen.
Speaker 1 (02:17:37):
Yeah, there was.
Speaker 5 (02:17:39):
There was some things that Dana Brown talked about on
that Zoom call on Friday. Let me go back because
I quoted and tweeted it out. Let's see make sure
I have this in my notes here. Yeah, so he's
he was asked about the state of the outfield and
he said, quote, McCormick will start off and right Myers
in centerfield, and we have an opening in left field,
whether it's dubon a platoon or get an opportunity to
(02:18:00):
fill the spot, we'll do it. End quote, no disrespect
to any of those guys, but that would probably be
the worst starting starting the outfield in all of Major
League Baseball. Man. They Yeah, Brian McTaggart is spot on.
There's something they still.
Speaker 6 (02:18:15):
Have to do.
Speaker 5 (02:18:16):
Yeah, have to do.
Speaker 1 (02:18:18):
You have to go make more moves like you can't
sit on your hands.
Speaker 9 (02:18:24):
Okay, so I'm going to ask you you this as
a matter of fact. Let's let's go to break and
I want to know. Honestly, the Kyle Tucker thing, we've
kind of just okay, all that money he's going to go,
and we just kind of understood that it was more likely.
And I think the trade thing jumped on us in
a hurry for all of us. And here it is
instead of like playing it out and then letting him
walk again next year, how devastating is Let let's look
(02:18:47):
at it for twenty twenty five. Yeah, I'm not talking
about twenty twenty seven, and the young guys are panning
out and and you know Cam Smith turned it into
a star.
Speaker 5 (02:18:55):
I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the twenty
twenty five club that we're going to run out there. Yeah,
here Houston.
Speaker 9 (02:19:02):
When Bragman leaves, and that is going to happen more
than likely. Dude, I want you to think for a second,
that'd be the equivalent of there, Bryce Harper, Tucker's top
twenty player in the league. Yes, I'm just saying there,
Bryce Harper and Washington and Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (02:19:21):
Why would I say why? I meant Philadelphia wasn't one?
Speaker 2 (02:19:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:19:24):
Yeah, in Philly, I meant Philly and losing him and
Alec Bohm.
Speaker 9 (02:19:30):
Let's even go yeah, or let's go one step for
let's go uh yeah, taking trade turner, good glove, middle
infielder with power and saying how are we going to
be this year? And you didn't replace either position yet?
Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 (02:19:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:19:47):
That's good?
Speaker 5 (02:19:48):
That that that's that's for us here. Well, Harper is
better that I know one's first base ones right for
but you get my point, right?
Speaker 1 (02:19:55):
Yeah? Well, Harper is better than Tucker well as a
five tool guy, he's is he? No, he's not. Kyle
Tucker's better.
Speaker 5 (02:20:02):
Top twenty by voted by wasn't he voted as a
top twenty twenty five player player in the like seventeenth
or something, twenty first whatever was. So you think about
that now, Yeah, so forget twenty twenty nine, rebuild, rebuild,
all that, and we're saying that now like it's okay,
But how okay are you really going to be without
Bregman and Tucker on your team this year if you're
an Astros fan? And how good can this team be?
(02:20:27):
I mean, Verdlander's not going to pitch here from er
I'm assuming now is Tucker's not going to be here,
So I mean you start to think what you're losing,
and you're you're losing two guys that are gold Glove
players as well in right field and third base. Right, Yeah,
they're both cold glovers, that's right, and one would be
considered the top leader in the clubhouse. So are you
(02:20:49):
really okay with twenty twenty five? So let's get into it.
Let's talk about that next on sport Stock seven ninety.
Speaker 9 (02:20:55):
Doctor Jeff witz at wits at vision dot com wh
I T S E T T the very us in
the business. Talk to those who've gone to the Lasik
procedure like me, or that get eye care from doctor whitst.
When you're talking about your eyes pretty damn precious, right,
so you might want to maximize that and go visit
with people will.
Speaker 5 (02:21:12):
Tell you what I'll tell you. There's nobody better. He
is attention to detail. He'll treat your eyes like he'd
treat his own families or his own eyes, and he'll
walk you through all the steps of lasik and the
post I care. It's non invasive. I wasn't on the
table ten minutes and seeing better than I had since
the prime of my vision. So for me, there's nobody better.
Speaker 9 (02:21:29):
It's doctor Jeff Witzeit at witsit Vision dot Com again
w h I T S E T T. When you're
looking for your eyes and they are precious, you want
an expert, right. You don't want to leave anything to chance,
and you won't chance anything but success with doctor Jeff
witze It. It's witsit Vision dot Com. Witsit Vision dot Com.
That's wits it vision for the Sean Salisbury show continues.
Speaker 5 (02:21:55):
Or what are they going to look like without those
two seven one three two one two five seven Iney
s talked to you the astro fan talked to Casey.
Speaker 1 (02:22:03):
First, Casey, what's going on?
Speaker 5 (02:22:05):
Hey, guys, love your show.
Speaker 24 (02:22:06):
I'm actually welcome by dog. Listened to y'all on my
days off, and so, Brian, I feel for you. Losing
losing your dog is losing a member.
Speaker 2 (02:22:14):
Of the family.
Speaker 11 (02:22:14):
It sucks.
Speaker 1 (02:22:15):
Yeah, appreciate that case.
Speaker 11 (02:22:17):
I feel bad for you.
Speaker 24 (02:22:19):
But also also this weekend is the Division two Football
National Championship. My alma mater and Taberay Thomas's alma mater,
Farris State University, is going towards third national championship in
the last four years. So, uh, you know, if you
want to flip between a good football game and the Texans,
then uh, you know you can do that.
Speaker 9 (02:22:40):
Saturday afternoon semi finals in FBS this week too. They
are semis right, Yeah, Man, South Dakota State put it
on incarnate word last week, didn't they.
Speaker 1 (02:22:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:22:51):
So that's both where you're where you're talking about your
alma mater, and that there's some d damn good football
being played.
Speaker 1 (02:22:57):
Man, you are one correct, my friend.
Speaker 5 (02:22:59):
I'm gonna go to McKinnie and watch the game.
Speaker 9 (02:23:01):
Oh yeah, that'll be honest. That's a great facility. I
lived about three miles from there with the ten years.
Speaker 24 (02:23:08):
Yeah, and then Sean, I'm actually head golf professional at
Stirling Country Club at Houston National about two ninety and
I want to internet, you know, invite you to come
play round golf with me sometimes.
Speaker 1 (02:23:18):
Okay, well, yeah, here's what I'm gonna do. Tripley.
Speaker 5 (02:23:20):
When you hang up, we'll put you on hold, tripley
and get your I'm gonna have triple you get your
phone number?
Speaker 11 (02:23:25):
Perfect?
Speaker 1 (02:23:26):
All right?
Speaker 24 (02:23:26):
And and lastly, I wish the uh the Astros could
have kept you say Cocuci, because I says nuts.
Speaker 5 (02:23:38):
Merry Christmas, guys, great case, thanks for the compliment. And
also classic. And I thought he was going because I say, Ben,
I think the Kakuchi loss is going to be.
Speaker 1 (02:23:46):
Big the same thing Cucci is nuts. I love it.
Speaker 5 (02:23:49):
It's good stuff. Damn right, I'll go play golf with him.
Let's talk to ron he says, a director of golf.
He's the head pro, head pro. That's even why, because
I go, hey, could you work on my right to
left golf flight?
Speaker 10 (02:23:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:24:00):
Are we to flight it down a little?
Speaker 5 (02:24:01):
Brian? You do whoa high ball hitter?
Speaker 1 (02:24:03):
You know how that goes?
Speaker 2 (02:24:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:24:04):
Oh yeah, tasty?
Speaker 5 (02:24:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:24:06):
Talk to Ronnie. What's going on Ronnie?
Speaker 2 (02:24:08):
Morning? Guys?
Speaker 22 (02:24:09):
I mostly agree with you about what the Astros may
be like if losing Tucker and Bregman. But you got
to remember how many games did Tucker miss last year?
And during that same time, didn't Bregman also miss some games?
And we still although we got smashed by the Tigers,
(02:24:29):
we still made it to the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:24:31):
Yeah, Ronnie, I'm not saying. I'm not saying that they
can't do that.
Speaker 5 (02:24:34):
I'm just saying for I want to know everybody's feelings,
cause I'm kind of in purgatory right now, like, well,
how bad will it be? And they did win those
you know, they were able to survive it because they
were deep and guys came through. But I just just
kind of you're over your emotional feel Ryan, just for
twenty twenty five, not the future in young prospects. That's
kind of what I'm looking for. How good you think
they're going to be. How tough will it be to
(02:24:54):
replace him? Kind of a plethora of things.
Speaker 22 (02:24:58):
Yeah, it'll be tough, But knowing Dana Brown, the way
he operated or the way the Braves operated, if they
better have a young guy ready to come in and
do something. I mean, I like Peretti's is going to
be okay. I want to see this guy Smith make
it on the twenty sixth man. You know, why did
(02:25:19):
they get him? And even if it's a year early,
I still would like to see him. And I have
a question because I don't know the answer. Did didn't
the Astros draft a kid last year and sign him
out of Wisconsin who is also a linebacker in football
and it's going to play has played centerfielder. I don't
(02:25:39):
know if they signed him. You know, they were talking
about him on the MLB Network, which I have. I
listened to those clowns a lot, but they are clowns
and I don't get a lot of good information from him.
But I thought that they drafted this guy and they're
saying he's going to go high as a linebacker in
the NFL Draft this coming year. And it'd be great
(02:26:00):
if the Astros you know, had him, because they say
he could be a really good center fielder too. Now
obviously that wouldn't be for this year. But I don't know,
And you know, I can't give up on both Myers.
I don't know which one you should choose, Keep Myers or.
Speaker 5 (02:26:17):
The other guy?
Speaker 22 (02:26:20):
Yeah, yeah, keep one of them, but don't keep both
of them, and don't get rid of both of them.
Speaker 5 (02:26:25):
Ronnie, are you talking about the football player from Oregon,
Bryce Oregon?
Speaker 11 (02:26:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I believe so, yeah, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (02:26:32):
He's a baseball player and football player both.
Speaker 22 (02:26:35):
Yes, Well, they need to sign him. And of course
they're saying he may try to do what Elway was
going to do. And of course ultimately Bo and Dion,
you know, play both sports, and which would mean that
Crane would have to pay more money than he wants to.
So you know that that that may not happen.
Speaker 5 (02:26:56):
Good to have options for him, right, Good to have options.
Speaker 2 (02:27:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 22 (02:27:01):
And also the guy I want to pay attention to
and whenever spring training comes up is Bryce Matthews, because
they're saying he looks and does anybody play winter ball anymore?
I remember when all those.
Speaker 5 (02:27:14):
Guys are playing winter ball running. They're all all playing.
I know, they're all playing out of the country winter ball.
I mean, Bryce Matthews had a good one to Zenzo's
down there hitting bombs. They're all playing in the Latin
American countries already, they've they've been there.
Speaker 22 (02:27:27):
Well, I remember when Chao used to go down and
manage teams down there every year. You know, he may
have even done it while he was still playing. I
don't know, but you know, you don't hear much about
winterball stats, which they don't mean anything. It's just are
they are they making progress in their areas of weakness and.
Speaker 11 (02:27:44):
All that sort of stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:27:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:27:45):
All of the young guys for the Astros like that
young core uh does. Like I said, Dezenzo, Bryce Matthews
and a couple other guys have all been playing winter ball.
So they've like all the Arizona Fall League and they
went down, like I said, in the Latin American countries
to play some winter ball.
Speaker 1 (02:27:59):
So they're they're all still at it.
Speaker 22 (02:28:01):
Has anybody signed the young Japanese pitcher, the twenty three
year old, No, not yet.
Speaker 5 (02:28:07):
The speculation is the Dodgers still the leaders. Is that correct?
Speaker 16 (02:28:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 22 (02:28:12):
Oh well, that's that's unfortunate. I wish they could sign him.
That would be great.
Speaker 5 (02:28:17):
Yeah, sure, that would be appreciate the call run anyway,
but thanks a lot, appreciate you, buddy. Yeah, Ronnie, Ronnie
loves it, and they did. They hung in there with
a lot of a lot of miss time for Bregman
and Tucker. The question is can you sustain it? No
one going in you're gonna be without them. I just
curious how they're going to be what what the narrative
(02:28:37):
or what the what it's going to look like and
feel like in twenty twenty five, not twenty twenty eight,
but twenty twenty five for this team.
Speaker 1 (02:28:45):
One hundred and forty five games, Yeah, which is pretty good.
Speaker 5 (02:28:47):
He didn't. Yeah, it just felt like a lot because
it was two games here. Then take again, you know
what I'm saying. Or Tucker missed what like eighty of them,
seventy five half to see seventy eight. Yeah, I think
you miss seventy eight with that bone, Bruce, which which
was a fracture. Like we said in day one, play again,
(02:29:14):
Roll Willie, I'm now.
Speaker 16 (02:29:16):
Going coming that.
Speaker 2 (02:29:20):
Not nobody Ell No.
Speaker 1 (02:29:24):
Two angry dogs.
Speaker 6 (02:29:26):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (02:29:27):
I've been watching that video all mon It's so funny.
Speaker 5 (02:29:30):
Theo Vaughn, Drewski and Roll Tiede Willye on a podcast together,
just absolutely hilarious. Let's get into the final segment of
the show. We'll continue to talk about Astros and how
the Astros could look without Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 1 (02:29:43):
That's next.
Speaker 5 (02:29:43):
But before we get to that, let me tell you
about the new dips from Daisy Sour Cream French onion

Speaker 9 (02:31:22):

Christina Aguilera. Michael Michael Bubble. If you're looking for romance
and want to sit on the couch with the wine, sprintzer. Yeah,
I have a cup of coffee with one of those sticks.
Speaker 1 (02:31:36):

Speaker 17 (02:32:07):

Speaker 1 (02:32:08):

We're gonna we're gonna cross. I make an executive decision.
We're gonna cancel Western Wednesday tomorrow.
Speaker 12 (02:32:25):

Speaker 1 (02:32:26):
Is it tough?
Speaker 9 (02:32:28):

Chris a little bit of everything, that's exactly.
Speaker 1 (02:32:51):
But you're gonna hear some agual.
Speaker 5 (02:32:52):
She might even play every song every Christmas.
Speaker 1 (02:32:54):

Speaker 5 (02:32:55):
Right now? He has Sean has canceled Tejano Tuesday. Now
he is canceling Western Wednesday. But hammle right there.
Speaker 9 (02:33:03):
Yeah, I'm not yeah too, little Feliciano. Yeah, dude, yeah, yeah,
I'm not. I am not tell I'm not canceling it. Yeah,
it's just I'm mad. I'm just trying to get a
little more bandwidth to everything for the Christmas songs because
after next Wednesday's Christmas, you won't get to hear anything,
you know, no no Western.
Speaker 5 (02:33:22):
So I'll mix in some Western. We'll get some Christmas cuts, right, Yeah,

him for you.
Speaker 1 (02:33:27):
There you go, Yes, I want George if.
Speaker 9 (02:33:29):

and hand it to Triple in the morning, I'll do
that too.
Speaker 5 (02:33:35):
Wait, give myself a homework assignment. What's that sixteen of them?
Speaker 1 (02:33:39):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (02:33:40):
Basically, uh no, twelve open because yeah, because the opening
seting we don't play Christmas song right to the opening
of each hour, the top of day songs.
Speaker 5 (02:33:48):
Maybe I'll do that all the time. I'm gonna put
no no Christmas, well unless it's Aguilera.
Speaker 1 (02:33:55):
Okay, late call from Brandon? Yeah what what's what's through?
You get into him? Or I want to have a
good dramatic pause, A little pregnant pause. There you go,
let's talk.
Speaker 5 (02:34:08):
For those of us in the industry like to call it, Brandon,
good morning, late call this morning.
Speaker 10 (02:34:13):
Buddy, Sorry might.
Speaker 13 (02:34:17):

I'm sorry, I'm right, you're right, I'm right, You're late. Gotcha.
It's okay, buddy, we're just giving you a hard time.
Speaker 5 (02:34:32):
Right on time.
Speaker 10 (02:34:34):
Hey Astros, Astros, Yes, we we got somebody.
Speaker 1 (02:34:45):
Uh do you mean when when they traded Kyle Tucker?
Speaker 5 (02:34:49):
No one, Bregnants already Bregman's a free agent, Brandon, so
he is no longer an astro. He is not on
a team yet, he's not. No, he's a free agent. Okay,
So they haven't gotten anybody outside of the.
Speaker 9 (02:35:05):
Content answer, and to answer your question, we're not sure
we have that replacement yet. If and when he leaves,
Brandon not sure, not sure yet who that's gonna be,
and not real sure where he's going although to talk
of like the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (02:35:17):
Or the Red Sox or the Detroit Tigers.
Speaker 9 (02:35:19):
So the chances are, Brandon, that he's not going to
be here, those are the that That's a pretty overwhelming thought,
at least from people that are far smarter than Brian
and I about this situation.
Speaker 10 (02:35:30):
Okay, I was thinking. I was thinking, I may Tigers
can get him.
Speaker 5 (02:35:41):
Yeah, A J. Hinch may have a good idea, may
may want him on his team. You might be very right, Brandon.
Can we get you just thing jingle bells with us
before we get out of here?
Speaker 19 (02:35:50):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (02:35:50):
I can jingle bells. Jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Hey Brandon, Oh.
Speaker 1 (02:36:03):
Hey Brandon, you sing better than.
Speaker 5 (02:36:06):
Appreciate it, Brandon, we'll talk to you borrow, buddy, see
tease you with the pregnant pause and then bam hammered
it away.
Speaker 6 (02:36:11):
I loved it.
Speaker 1 (02:36:12):
Great job, Brando. Want to wait in the show. Yeah, man,
Hey the Christmas guys.
Speaker 5 (02:36:20):
Yeah yeah, look bright way to go, humbug man? Hey, Hey,
what do you get when you cross Brian and a gritch.
I don't know, but something green within me. Why do
you hate Christmas?
Speaker 1 (02:36:36):
I love Christmas? You hate the kids though? Don't you
hate the kids?
Speaker 5 (02:36:39):
Yeah? If you that makes sense. So you hate the kids?
You have them kids, so you've got pretty much f
Christmas right they I'm gonna take my dog Oprah with
me to go take some pictures with Sanna. That's nice.
But let me here's an interesting question. Yeah, it's not
really that interesting. Why do you hate Christmas?
Speaker 11 (02:36:52):
Now?
Speaker 5 (02:36:53):
Because you want to pop in lock and you just
everybody to do it for what's the reason. I don't
need to know why you hate Christmas? Christmas is my
favorite triple He got y'all pumped up and you humbugged out.
Speaker 1 (02:37:05):
Yeah, just right then in the moment.
Speaker 5 (02:37:06):
You know, there are times over the last couple of years,
I've gone a tad bit of humbug and I'm trying
to I'm trying to get to get.
Speaker 1 (02:37:11):
The spirit back in, back in the spirit.
Speaker 5 (02:37:13):
I'm back in the friggin back in the saddle, Ganner,
back in the spirit, back in the spirit. I love Christmas.
There you go like seeing people happy, even them kids.
Speaker 1 (02:37:20):
That you hate, you hate them, carry still out on those.
Speaker 5 (02:37:24):
You know how I feel about it. It's hurts, that's
all right, that's gonna it's gonna be okay. I promise
that's gonna do it. For the Seawan Salisbury Show, he
is Sean Salisbury. Our producer is Triple Emmanuel L.
Speaker 10 (02:37:35):

Speaker 1 (02:37:35):
I'm brink. Yeah you too, man. The balls around again,
Yeah again. Yeah, and I'm going to play golf. Let's
