Speaker 1 (00:00):
I had to live out, but the Sean Salisbury show continued,
and he is a rental piece. Seven one three, two,
one two five, seven ninety. How are you feeling about
the Astros trade? In order of longest wait, Lou, We'll
start with Steve.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Steve, good morning, hey guys.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I woke up this morning. I didn't know about it,
and all I say is this. You can't be serious.
I'll do a John McEnroe, but it feels like that movie.
Sean's a movie guy, so tripley.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
This is for you.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
What was it trading places where these.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Guys bet a dollar one dollar?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
I want to listen. I don't have I can't hear you,
so I'll say on while y'all get rid of me.
I want to listen to your reply, but you can't
be serious. Loperfito an Italian guy, Come on, sounds tanky,
but anyways, I'll leave you at that.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Appreciate it, Steve. Let's keep it rolling on the phone lines,
and then let's get over to Brad. Brad, thanks for
good morning morning fellas.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, I could care less.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
Honestly, every is so emotional about this. In the last ten years,
we've given up about eighteen prospects. Do y'all name any
of the eighteen prospects that have done anything in the pros.
We don't know anything about the prospects coming out over
If you go a great defensive guy, I love the
guy who cares like we're so emotional about this that
Daniel Brown, no matter what he did, did nothing gets
yoed at, does something gets yeod at?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Gave him too much?

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Hey, the benefit of that. With the Braves, I give
benefit of doubt this round. Let's see what defensif we
get a ring. No one's gonna care about who we
gave up. That's all that matters, doculated guys.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
See, thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
I am with you, though, Brad, If if you won
a World Series, I could care less that you parted
with low perfito.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Honest to god.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
And if and I'm talking about if and Kakuchi contributes
to it and is good I honestly to me. Now
you're like, oh, man, I hope he does well somewhere else.
But in truth, how is a ring not? I mean,
I don't know if they're gonna get it. Like I said,
on the surface, the frustrat for me is like, man,
it seemed like they we talked about sting. I've asked

(02:05):
him it's gonna hurt. Yeah, you can't give up good player.
You can't give up bad players to get good players.
I think the problem is I think that they may
hold Kakuchi in higher regard than some of our fans.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Or listeners do.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
I mean, and I get that as well. The truth
is the trade should be judged when it's done. I
mean when the season's over. Because he's a rental. We
don't know where he's going next year. And this says
your your you believe your World Series team because he's
a rental and you were willing to part with three guys,
young players, the two that have already been in the
big leagues and one that's playing well in the minor leagues,

(02:38):
and there is a legacy player here in Houston to
get him, so really and call her was a brad
makes a great point. Yeah, Well, I mean, everybody's up
in arms now and we all the emotion kicks in.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Because that's what the trade deadline does.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
But if they walk off with the World Series, Dana
Brown will be Executive of the Year. Okay, after all
these injuries and happen to it. If Kakuchi goes on
a roll and pitches all star like and they go
win a World Series and he's a factor. Everybody's gonna
tell him how great the trade was, regardless of what
low Perfito does now. Five years from now, if Kokuchi's
not pitching anymore, when he's thirty eight and low Perfito's raking,

(03:16):
and so is Wagner and the bloss is a frontline starter,
you may say, damn, we gave a look what those
guys are doing now, but don't ever forget. If you
go back and get the ring, the trade was worth it. It's
tough enough to get one ring. Ask any guy who's
played that's never had one in any in a sport.
We're spoiled here in Houston, so I know the surface
is the frustration, but Brad hits it right on.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
We get so emotional with this.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
In truth, if you take a step back, if Kokuchi's asked,
then you know what to get. Horrible trade, but as
a rental, if we win a World Series and he's
an All Star and pitches like an All Star the
last half of the season or the last you know,
little less than half the season, and you win your
crown World Series champions.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
You can't complain about you can't have both all the time.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
You can't keep prospects, get better at the trade deadline
and win a World Series and then what five years
from now low per Fido back.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Now, maybe you'll get him back someday.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
So you got to see right now in the surface,
it feels it feels too much. If they win a
World Series, you can keep low Perfido, Bloss and Wagner,
and even if all three of them are all stars,
you got another ring. But Kakuchi has to prove that
it was worth the rental. And right now, I think
that's the biggest problem for people's.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Doctor Randall before we get to break Randall welcome in.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
Hey, good morning. I think we need another picture. No
matter what, it can't be as bad as the ones
we already have. I don't think that the Astros will
get a ring this year based on Joey It's spy
those decisions, because last night Hata was in a jam
and he did not make a mind visit at all,
and Skins did clock at one hundred. After Bregman hit

(04:56):
the file ball, he came right back and hit for
a hundred watched.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
The whole they said, they said on the they said, yeah,
they said though on the on the on what I
read and saw that he didn't touch a hundred one
time last night. Now, maybe I missed a pitch, but
according to what I also read after the screen, you
didn't hit a hundred.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sir.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
They showed it on the screen.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I watched the whole game.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
I was a good game. I think that the manager
lost that game because he didn't make a mound visit
to get his pitcher under control. I don't think that
he goes out. I don't think that he's a great encourage.
I don't think that that he can put the fire

(05:38):
in his players. You know, you're a professional, you should
already have the fire. But his spider doesn't make good decisions.
And I'm not being critical toward him as a man,
but I'm talking sports baseball, and I don't think that
the Astros can get another ring with him because he
don't make good decisions.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
That's all I am. Thank you, Randall.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yeah, I was looking and not that this it's just
you know, good gracious, it's it's semantics. But I believe
in unless I'm crazy, when I and Brian McTaggart. I
trust everything, and then I trust Randall as well. I
don't mist understanding. But Brian McTaggart, I don't read his
article because I unless I missed a pitch when I
was watching. But I think Brian said that I don't
know if Bloss touched I mean, if he touched a

(06:22):
hundred last night.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
So I got it up.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I got the pitch and report here from Baseball Savant,
which I mean shows every pitch that he threw last night.
The hardest that he threw was ninety nine point six
miles an hour.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, and it was. It wasn't mc McTaggart.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
I was reading about the trade, Brian, about the you
know they landed Kakuchi for three players.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
It was.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
It was the game report that I went over to
make sure that I didn't miss him hitting the hundred.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Because he wasn't at his best last night.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, So I don't think now if you're rounding it off, maybe,
but either way, that's semantics.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
What is the trade thing?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
And you know, he real quick, Brian about the uh
the handling the hater, Uh the way hater and and
uh a spot of.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
The way he's handled hater.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
The spot of hater when he's used him has been
really different this year, don't you agree. I mean not
just visits, but the way he's used him in different games.
I mean as as Steve Sparks talked about chasing wins
and all that, it's just been handling. And I think
that it got to the point last night when he
was in You're like, this is who we're going with.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
We're not.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
There's nobody else you're going to see. But even to
stop him down and do it, I get what Randall's saying.
It was a it was a tough way to lose
a ball game last night. We've seen that now what
three times? Four times this year?

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Uh huh, it's groundhog Day with him.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
It's been like that, and it's usually the long ball
that ends it. He was looking fastball and got when
he could drive and there you go.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, I'm basically middle middle seven three seven ninety. Phone
lines are lighting up all morning long. We'll take your
reactions on the trade from yesterday. How you feeling about it? Overpay?
You saying who cares about prospects? Go get a ring.
Let's talk about it next four stock seven.
