Taking on the Green Bay Packers down in Lambeau Field yesterday afternoon the Texans fall short in a 2 point loss, following a walk-off field goal by Brandon McManus in the final remaining seconds of the game. Looking as if they could've pulled the win off, the Texans suffered a bit in the final minutes of the game with the defense holding strong but the offense not able to advance down the field. Cutting down on the penalties since the start of the season which were very detrimental, some tend to believe that the Texans have a play-calling issue amongst the coaching personnel. While others tend to believe that it's not so much on the play-calling but, more-so on the player production among the offensive line that helped the Packers walk away with the victory. With C.J. Stroud throwing for only eighty-six yards yesterday, can the blame regarding Week 7's loss be on the offensive line?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I had The sewn Salisbury show continued, start with John
John Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Yes, I'm I'm calling in about the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome into the uh doctor Salisbury's office. Yeah, kick your
feet up A while.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I didn't I didn't catch the first hour. I was
on the phone.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I had a business call, but I I knew it
was going to be about the offensive line. But you know,
the thing that's that's bothering me is there's no improvement
in the line. I mean, they're not picking up blitzes,
they're not picking up.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Slants, they're not picking up anything.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
And and you know, it's getting to the point where
I'm fearing I'm fearful for C. J. Stroud because he's
taking some shots again that I don't like.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I don't like seeing him getting you.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Know, it's, uh, he took some he took some shots
yesterday and and some of these guys came in just
on challenged, and uh, you know, I fear for him.
I'm at that point now where I'm starting to fear
for him a bit because of the offensive line play.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
And I guess I want to call out again. I
did this a few weeks so, just the offensive line coaching.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I something's missing because you know, again you'd like to
see him take a step forward, but we're just not
seeing that at all. I Mean, it's just like they're
the way they were at you know, like a training
camp or something, and it's just I wish that I
don't know, I'm just feeling that needs to be addressed somehow.

(01:25):
We're just not in sync and you know, just some
of the basic stuff you just don't see him executing,
and it's just I don't know, it's it's again, I
just hate to see CJ get hurt as a result
of this.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I remember when the Texans had their.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Best season, when was that back in twenty twelve, twelve
and four. They had a good offensive line coach, a
guy named John Benton, and you know he's been in
the league for like thirty three years. I think he's
with the Saints now. But I would just like to
see them bring in somebody with some good experience and
you know, just could really turn this thing around, because
that's that's where my big issue is.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Protections.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I Mean, they got the speed, they got everything else,
but this offensive line is just not improving.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I just don't see it improving at all.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Thank you for the call.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
John.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Let me ask you this real quick. We're getting all
the callers, yep. Inevitably if they're not performing. I had
falls on the coach. It usually does the teacher. But
when do you get to the point where you say,
these guys up front aren't living up to what we
thought they were when are.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Were there there?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
And I'm because you know why, Sean is you see
what they can do in the run game, and then
for the passing game, it's night and day.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
They had no pass protection yesterday, which leads to this.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
And I don't know the answer because I haven't looked
at the analytics part of the numbers, the pure numbers
of it, eye test. I'm simply talking about sitting in
your living room or in a game watching it as
a fan. Is tell me in the last two years,
ten wins last year below average running game, Yeah they
were okay, they're just okay, Yes, good pass protection. Saw

(02:58):
the results in Stroud and the wins this year. Mixings
in the backfield, physical run game when he's not very average.
So it's part player, part scheme, right, Yet in the
past protection game they've been subpar. This year they really
they've been subpar. Yeah, how many times in the last
two years. You know, there's a lot of positives to

(03:20):
find about this team, like the defense flying around and
replacing five injured guys and hanging in there against the
damn good quarterback in offense wins the last time for
extended amount of games that the pass protection and run
blocking was both of them dominant.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
In the game.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I don't know if I can name one. That's my point.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
You may get it in one game kind of, but
I'm talking about sustained domination in the run game and
the pass game.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Yeah, I don't think it hasn't been around. That's an
issue for me. Yeah, complimentary football has not happen.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
It's an issue for me and you. I mean, if
you find ways to win any way, you can. But
at some point time to be one of those teams
in this league, you got to be dominant with your
hand in the dirt and in a two point stance.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, you just have to.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
And we haven't seen it. I haven't seen it complimentary
football yet. Let's talk to Tim. Tim good morning, Hey.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Goom on, and Hey.

Speaker 7 (04:14):
Before I get to my question, I just wanted to
kind of throw something out there.

Speaker 8 (04:18):
So there's been a lot of talk this morning about
offensive line and stuff, and I think I don't want
to pair in all of that, So I'm going to
ask a totally different question at the end.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
But real quick, I think.

Speaker 8 (04:29):
This week, given the fact that we were playing a
pretty hot team in the Pockers, the injury report kind
of didn't look favorable for the Texans. So I kind
of went into this game with tempered expectations, right, But man,
when it's that.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
Close and it's there for the taking.

Speaker 8 (04:45):
I think it sings a little bit more than it
would have had we just gone in there and got
our ass handed to it.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Right.

Speaker 7 (04:50):
So my question for you, and I just got.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
On the line. I haven't listened to you guys this morning,
So if somebody's already asked this and Barty talked about it,
I do apologize. But I heard somebody at Dimiico fall
earlier where he should have thrown a challenge flag, and
I'm on board with that. I think we should have
challenged that one particular play that's the quote unquote lateral.
But Sean as a player when the Concerts.

Speaker 7 (05:13):
Got the ball back with a minute forty five and
started driving down the field and it became pretty evident
that they were in field goal range and that's all
they needed to win the game. How does this coaching
staff head to the locker room with a pocket full
of timeouts?

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Man?

Speaker 7 (05:31):
I just don't understand that, And that's the therapy I
need from you this morning, Big Sean.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
So look me out here.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
And Tim, are you talking about using those timeouts? So
you not you've wanted to force Green Bay to use
theirs on that final series before you kicked the field goal.
You're talking about coming back and making sure they don't
leave them on the table. So if they're going to
kick the field goal, that you get another swing at
it one.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
Hundred percent man, because what good are time out?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
You know?

Speaker 7 (05:55):
Why save them for if we get the ball back,
if you're not going to be able to stop them
and get the ball. Once it became obvious that it
was like second down, they weren't moving on that last
three possessions of the ball. We kind of had them
stifled there and so gold range, and they made it
pretty clear we're just gonna run this ball these last
three plays and kill this clock. Why did we allow

(06:17):
them to burn the entire minute left of that clock
and walk to that locker room with a pocket full
of timeouts.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Man, I just don't understand it fair.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Enough, man, I appreciate it. Tim, thank you. And he
makes out a valid point. And and so when people say, well,
you never do that. You're trying to make green Bay
play fast and play hurried, well, Jordan Love's pretty efficient.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
As we know.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
Our guy C. J. Stroud is here too, he said,
And he makes a good point. Tim, when it was
when it became apparent that this was going to happen,
you maybe wanted another swing at it by using your
timeouts to have because we've seen Stroud make some hell
of fied throws late in games. Green Bay played the
right the last part of the game brilliantly, and unfortunately

(06:56):
for the Texans went down there. Their last series was
not their best series, right by any stretch of the imagination.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
No, it was not.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Let's continue to take your calls seven one three, two,
one two five, seven ninety, we'll uh, we'll get to
break and then we'll get back to these callers. Texans
struggling with the offensive line, the pass protection. Where does
the scheme fall into play? Where does Bobby Slowik in
the uh, the the play calling, where does that come
into play? When the Texans lost yesterday, that's next. That's
