Following the conclusion of the NFL season last month with the Philadelphia Eagles as your 2025 Super Bowl LIX champions, teams waste no time in tampering and acquiring players for the upcoming 2026 season. During this legal tampering phase of the offseason, the Texans have been in talks with the Jaguars and have came upon an agreement trading wide-receiver Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans in exchange for a seventh-round pick. Looking at the Texans wide receiving room currently as Tank Dell is set to undergo surgery and Stefon Diggs looking for another extension, Nico Collins looks to be the Texans WR1 with much needed depth to be added if aiming to contend for another postseason. Sean and Brian take a moment assessing the Texans trade and what could adding another receiver like Kirk do for the Texans, along with posing the question, do the Texans need more?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk some Texans. They're trading for wide receiver Christian Kirk.
Christian Kirk was with the Cardinals, then with the Jaguars.
Texans are getting here from the Jaguars right here in
the division. The Texans will send a twenty twenty six

(00:22):
seventh round pick. And if you remember, the Texans basically
did the same thing with Joe Mixon last year. The
Texans probably gonna do something to lighten up the fifteen
and a half million dollars salary cap hit, and they
get a pretty good wide receiver. All it took was
a seventh round pick. So essentially, actually, Sean, if you

(00:46):
remember they traded away, Oh my gosh, they're running back
Dalvin Cook, Right, Dalvin Cook was in Minnesota. Sorry, who
did they have from me? Who they get from Minnesota?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Who are we talking about that? The Texans every cam Akers?
Sorry cam Akers, they know they him to Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, yeah, So essentially they traded him to essentially get
Christian Kirk because of the way the draft picks work, right,
not bad.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I mean respect to cam Akers. It's an upgrade for
your offense. Christian Kirk is he is going to be
one of your starting three you are, you're going, I
wouldn't be done.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, So the Texans traded Cam Makers to the Vikings
for a twenty twenty six conditional sixth round pick and
a conditional seventh round pick in twenty twenty six, so
they literally use those picks to get Christian Kirk.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
The Vikings had a need at running back because people
being banged up. They traded for to go get a
guy who'd been in that system with Sean McVay with
the Rams with cam Akers had his best seasons there,
so he had the same system here, same system in Minnesota,
so the verbiage was an easy pick up for him.
Christian Kirk's a good get man. I'm just telling you
that he will start for this team and he will

(01:58):
be good, and he gives you now. But I'm not done.
I'm still I still want to sign Stefan digs Or.
I still want to go get a veteran. And if
you don't get a veteran, guess what, I'm drafting myself
a receiver pretty high, I am. I just want to listen.
You went into last year thinking we are loaded at
wide receiver. You came out of the season wondering if

(02:18):
you were going to be, how deep your offense, your
your wide receiver group was. With the injury to Tank Dell,
the injury to Stephan Diggs, not knowing what was going
to go on the underproductive tight end position, you have
got to have more perimeter people. One Christian Kirk will
not be enough. They need more. And if that more
is is like I said Diggs, if that more is

(02:41):
going outside the building and getting one of those you know,
eight or ten guys that's going to be a free
agent that's still got game, or if that means you
all of a sudden followed twenty two at the twenty
fifth pick, some one of these Buka, Is that the
kid from Ohio State? Yeah, who's a good player. If
he's sitting there at twenty five, you may want him.
I don't have problem offensive line. Why when I and

(03:04):
I'm talking throwing the tight end in this same conversation,
offensive line and perimeter playmakers. That is where you've got
to start in this draft. And quite frankly, you've got
to load up and be greedy as you can on offense,
be as greedy as you can. I didn't see the
trade for Christian Christian Kirk coming, but come on, man,

(03:24):
a seventh round pick for this guy, it's pretty it's
pretty much we're giving some people away. We talked about
Deebo Samuel and Washington stealing him if he's if he
plays fifteen games this year, he's going to give you
more than a fifth round pick. Would Christian Kirk for
a seventh round pick stealing? In my opinion, I think
the guy is a really good player. He's never gonna
be a team's number one again, but I can tell

(03:47):
you this, he's a really solid two and an exceptional
number three if you get him with the right team.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah, it's big. Gonna be a good fit, agreed, Gonna
be a good But you need another one. You gotta
go get into the wide.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Receiver, regardless of stud I want to go find another
number one that really end up being the number two
on this team.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Why wouldn't I As simple as that. I got to
be greedy with it.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
If if you weren't greedy, why in the world With
the Cincinnati Bengals, they're letting listen, this team couldn't get
off the friggin' field. They are allowing their best player
on defense, Trey Hendrickson, to go seek a trade.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
What are they doing? I don't know?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
And then all of a sudden, you got your and
your and I get it. Look what the Cincinnati Bengals
are doing. First off, their their approach to defense is baffling.
Hubbard gets cut and he retires. I mean he had
knee and he just flat out retired. So with the offense,
what are they doing. You're going to pay Jamar Chase
in the thirty five to forty million dollar range, and

(04:43):
you've got it.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
He's right now.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
It's like twenty six million for the wide receiver sour cap,
You're you're talking seventy million dollars invested in the wide
receiver position.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Is that seventy or sixty thirty five and twenty six
that's fifty a little over sixty between sixty and sixty
five million. What so, I I you want to talk
about greedy. If you're the Bengals offense, good, you're greedy.
Go pay if you can pay it, go get it.
But make sure you're just not playing with three guys
Burrow chasing t Higgins Higgins.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
So they're they're a team and they need defensive help
like the like the Texans got to show up their
offensive line.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
But I'm greedy. I'm not done yet. I am not.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
We don't know how Tank Dell is ever going to
recover from this, hopefully solidly and great because he's a
worker and Stefan Diggs, if he was still under contract,
I'd be a little more secure.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
But he's not right, So I'm not done there.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
And the tidy position, if it's not productive, is going
to piss me off. Yeah, exactly, Not that they care,
but it's going to piss that's kinda Yeah, it's gonna
drive us nuts. Sucked Will Will. What's going on?

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Not much as they perfect fit would be Tyler Lockett.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
And he is a free agent because the Seahawks cut
him a couple of days ago.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Yes, yes, sir, yes, sir, okay, I got a question
for you. Gave us some doubt this morning. You're up
and down, Jerry, right, would you take the running back
out of ball the seat if you had a chance
first round?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
If I'm the Cowboys and Jerry, yeah, oh absolutely. And
I don't believe.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't subscribe normally to high first round running backs.
I don't and tell and tell Saquon By that means
Barkley is a really good player. But now we see
him on a good team and what he's doing, and boy,
if you had to do it over again, you'd take
him second all over again. I don't Usually I think
you've got to be a special player to be drafted
high in the drag, you know where you're picked high.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
But this kid's different. He is special.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
And look at I think you're gonna see a resurgence
of the value of running backs come back, will I do?
I think that you you're gonna after what happened with
Mix and here and Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry and
look look what, Look what the James Cook didn't Buffalo
bless you, and he wants big money bless you. So
for me, I think we're gonna revalue that. Maybe that's not,

(06:59):
but we're gonna we're start to put more value on
this running back position. After and then Saquon goes and
gets a redo of his contract and they rewarded him
with it after a great season. So hell yeah, Genty
is a really good player and he showed durability, He's
got home run hitter speed, he'll pound you inside. I
am I'm a fan, and I'm not a big I'm

(07:22):
not a big draft or running back in your first
fifteen picks unless they're special or the first twenty picks. Hell,
I have a hard time draft him in the first round,
nless it's a throwaway pick late. But then you run
into a Saquon Barkley, you run into a Christian McCaffrey,
you run into what appears that Genti's got some of this.
And if the Cowboys don't get a running game, I
don't really care how much money you're paying Dak Prescott.

(07:44):
They got it when they're at their best. Think about
when they were been at their best. It's always been
that guy in the backfield is different the you had
unless you're unique everywhere else. That guy's got to be
able to kill games at the end of them and
dominate games. And you saw Baltimore do it. Buffalo. We
talked about Josh Allen season. What about Cook season?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah? And Buffal how valuable, huge, no doubt. And I
can tell you this, talk about all these other running backs.
Barely anyone ever talked about how good he was. Right,
and he's gonna get paid. I'm gonna tell you this.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
To Philadelphia well, you had one of the best rosters
in football. You're not crowned World champions of Barkley's not
on that team this year.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
They wouldn't. Matter of fact, they wouldn't have made it
to the Super Bowl. No, they would not have his.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Late season run of home run hitting and yard after
yard and even like thirty touches in the Super Bowl
right around there, catches and runs was enough to offset
the Chiefs to allow the white Outs to make place
because you had to stop Barkley first, and both Whiteouts
scored a touchdown in Smith and aj Brown. So the
running back you make a good point. I think there's

(08:43):
going to be more teams standing in line for gent
than you think. If you're the Chicago Bears. Don't you
want him?

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Absolutely, don't you want to put it? And he had
two damn good running backs in Detroit. He knows how
important it is. I can roll through and tell you
that there's listen, this guy is a He's proven to
me that I if you take him, you're not gonna
get an argument for me.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Not one.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Do you know who led the league in touchdowns rushing
touchdowns this year?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Cook had like twenty, didn't he.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Cook hat sec sixteen and he led the league. Yeah,
he had over a thousand yards rushing.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
He has rushing touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Rushing touchdowns correct, Yeah, he's he was also had superceiving touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
He was so freaking good this year.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
And he got lost in the Derrick Henry the Derrick
Henry back on Barkley stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, there's no doubt. Yeah, really good player. He was
a really good player.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Man.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
He was a big, big part of their success, obviously
with Josh Allen. Let's continue to talk about these Houston Texas.
There's some news in regards to Stefan Diggs potentially coming
back to Houston.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
What's that all about. We'll discuss the next
