Speaker 5 (00:46):
Shawn Tripley, Good morning, what's happening, what's up?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Good morning? It's morning guys. Uh. Yeah, this hockey thing's
got me, got me bricked up. Yeah, no, I can't
woke up the hockey. I mean that's using me everyone
about you know, a bricked up hockey break.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
For sports though, bro. Yeah yeah, like a sports bor,
like a sports bro.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
You're a sports bro. Yeah, yeah, that's what I meant.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Yeah, not calling you broke the sports Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
I am so pumped up about this. Hopefully there'll be
a lot of fights. You know. I just want good,
clean hockey. Brian, it's in Boston. Let's go, Yeah, let's
go the TD.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
What is a TV garden yea, they are going to
boo the hell out of the Canadian national anthem.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I think hopefully we're a little more respectful. No, they're
gonna it's Boston. Well that may be, that may be
the case.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
No, they're going to boo the hell out of it, guaranteed.
I just was fine.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I just assumed them sing along with Canadian national anthem
and then Canada's as they're gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
You're probably right, just because the pettiness everyone on social
media made a big deal of Canada booing the United
the national anthem from here for the United States.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Yeah, I uh, go back to Canada your bombs.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
We're about first responders.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
No, god, I hope he's not.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Do you know what if Cody's saying the national anthter tonight,
are they getting five minutes of leeway, dude, way through
a bot.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Event speech, Hit them and get the hell off the ice.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
No, let's go imagine Boston show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
guarantee it.

Speaker 6 (02:20):
You know, I saw social media. For whatever reason, we're
beefing with our neighbors. We don't need to boo any anthem.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Can't get tonight man, Yeah, yeah, we're different. But then
we go out and take care of our business.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
We got to depend on Canada. Canada depends on us.
Who's going to church?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
God, I hope he does, Oh my gosh. But I
I just want I just want a full blown beat down.
That's all I'm looking You feel me on that, Yeah,
let's go, let's go. So but as I'm looking forward,
that's gonna be a fun game too. Uh to tune
into tonight, a lot of pump and circle the stamp. Yeah,
that'll be a fire man.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
That's gonna be a good one, no doubt the Uh
the park will be dropped at seven o'clock Central, So
that'll be uh interesting.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Do you think it'll be turned in? Do you think
you'd be in the sheets? Uh?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
No, No, I shall be at practice. You're not practicing
tonight indoors bat in practice.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I was gonna say, if you practice the outdoors tonight,
No I can't. I'm gonna be that parent. That's it's irresponsible.
I canceled it last night. Dude, that what are you
going to accomplish other than bad mechanics and a bunch
of kids that want to go home exactly and adults
you know, unnecessary? Yeah, at the point, that's diminishing returns.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Man, Yeah, there was nothing productive was gonna happen in
any sort of outdoor practice.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Last night.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I saw highs across UH school districts across Houston canceled
every athletic event last night.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So with that, and they will again to night's and
they's gonna be in the twenties when overnight, So that's
all right. Then we'll be back I think in a
couple of days like seventy. Yeah, which is good. Then
that the cold stuff's over for the year, I believe
until next fall. I know your golf game needs it.
Oh boy, you ain't lying, dog. What was that supposed
to be? By the way, that's kind of a dig.
My golf game has been pretty ripe. It just needs

(04:15):
the heat to practice time. The lack of practice time
on the green man, lack of practice time. Uh, but
you know it's time. You know, you gotta around the greens.
Can't give away strokes. Brian m hm, Okay, we'll be back.
This is Sean Salisbury lesson too on the short game. Yeah,
did I see, I did see. I'm just being a

(04:37):
little to see what Missouri did. Alabama, Yeah, beat the
brakes off of them. Dude. Yeah, they through a century
mark off, like yeah, buck ten to ninety eight at
their crib. They put it on alibi. I think Alabama
went the game fourth ranked in the country, if I'm
not mistaken, in the country loaded on them last night.

(05:00):
That ought to show you just how deep not only
the SEC is, but just how deep college hoops is
at the top. Yeah, you can the twelfth ranked team
in the country. Who's fourteen? Right now?

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Do we just say Missouri is Michigan State?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Michigan State when going into this, I mean I think
as of yesterday it was fourteen. They can win the
national championship. We could say, well, Sean soak in the
fiftieth rank. No, no, they're.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Not gonna be Michigan State Perdue thirteen, Michigan State fourteen,
Missouri fifteen.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, guess what fifteen seeds not winning the national championship.
Fifteenth ranked team might fifteenth seeds not. No. No, But
if you're sitting in that thing, there's you can say.
Can you look me in the face and say, Michigan
State's not capable of winning six games?

Speaker 7 (05:42):
No?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
You know where they're head coaches? Yeah, exactly, I Mizzo.
So they're to me, it's just we're in for one
hell of a march madness.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Yeah, this is this has shaped up to be, excuse me,
such a crapshoot if you will, because I mean you
look at even just look at the Michigan Wolverines. They're
twenty and five on this se even season and they're
number twelve in the country, Wisconsin number eleven, Saint John's
number ten, and you can go on and on, and
then it's heavy, heavy, big twelve and SEC at the

(06:10):
top with a ACC team in there as well, and
then University of Houston sitting at number five, and again
they've got a big one on Saturday, hosting Iowa State.
That place is going to be rocking at the Fertida
Center over on the campus of University of Houston.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
So that's going to be a good one, a really
really good one.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
God, Iowa State coming in at number eight at twenty
and five, playing some pretty good basketball.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Excuse me.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
So, yeah, if you can get out to that game
on Saturday times the game is in an afternoon game, yeah,
I believe. So let me double check love there that
that that Furtita Center is so underrated when it comes
to game day experience and the way it's set.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Up, and that's the way it's supposed to be. I
love it.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yeah, let's see man and another one. Uh, Tennessee and Texas,
A and M play on Saturday as well. That's an
eleven am tip off.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Honestly, That's that's the way love about hoops and stuff.
That's I love my Saturdays. When you wake up and
you say, Okay, what are you gonna do and you
know football season's over. Oh guess what. You got an
epic game and you're just still having breakfast. Yeah, And
that's the way you start, you and then throughout the
day you'll get great college hoops all the way through.
I friggin love it. I can't wait you tune in,

(07:26):
and I mean right out of the shoot. We got
an SEC beat down with Tennessee and A and M.
And it's going to be two teams that can win
the whole thing as well. So I freaking love it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
They're playing over at Ried Arena in College Station, so
that place is gonna be rocking as well. Iowa, Iowa
State and Houston one o'clock tip off.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
It wouldn't be cool if you had a private jet
you go to one and then take your private jet
from college station here and go to the other bag
the little double hire hoops. That'd be a bit awesome. Yep, yeah,
it'd be awesome. Kelly bar Yours G eight hunter will
be ready in about G eight yeah, G eight Yeah,
it's it's called the you know the the it's the
G eight thing of G six yeah, G eight hundred. Yeah,

(08:07):
it'll be probably ready to lift off March this time
next year. Okay, good, you're ready for that? All right?
Good luck.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Hey, there's also another another big time matchup Maine at
Binghamton one o'clock tip off on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Well, why why are you h mocking Binghamton and Maine?
North Dakota State, North Dakota. It's another one?

Speaker 8 (08:29):
Are you?

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Are you mocking them?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
At the Betty Ingles Dad Sioux Center in Grand Forks,
North Dakota.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Look out if you live there, would you go to
the game? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Probably, there's probably nothing else to do. There's probably five
degrees out right now. Or my hunters no with Gwency
might have Wuincy might be there. Who Carson Wentz. You
might see wins.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
You might see outdoors been like so the cold maybe
Winsley's bellied up Alma Mater. You don't know, you know
the Wendesley's there.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Not Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Man, it's gonna be chilly in the planes and they're
gonna be ready to play some hoops.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
You got Windcy that's probably in a deer stand even
though deer season, their season is over.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
He's just getting ready for his spring turkey hunting. It
was about a month and a half old. Windsay, damned rights, dude,
is he gonna play next season? I don't know, he's can't.
City's back up. Uh huh, we know he uh he
almost had his second ring almost.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
It's negative three degrees currently in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
There you go. Wow, getting to read and warm up.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Yeah, really good weather across the nation today.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
And just be grateful that you're you're you're up and
had a bed ready to go. You're on the right
side of the dirt.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Right, Okay, you want some breaking news.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
The breaking news is that what a blessed human being
you are to be here every day.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
They painted the batter's eye black at dyk In Park.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
I would imagine to be able to see a little
white baseball pretty clearly.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Wo hope?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
So yeah, dark green black, And what does the matter
is that your stance, that is all hands are a
little low. It's fine though, I'm sitting down, I know,
but you stand up there down here?

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Yeah, right here, Davis?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Is that it? Yeah? I'm a I'm a midhands guy.
Are you mid? Yeah? My game ain't mid mm hmm yeah.
But you know some people are dead pull. I've all
used it all boom to boom.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Foul pull to what foul and everything in between, damned right,
everything in between.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
I'm good. You ready to go down and spring training?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Or no?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
I think our invite got lost in the mail. It
probably did.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, I don't think we're going. No, Matt, Thomas and
Ross are still down there. Yeah, I don't think we're going.
But you know what, I'd rather be here anyway. I
appreciate that. Yeah, I love I love my peaks. Rather
be here? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Yeah, why not?

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Why not?

Speaker 5 (11:03):
Excuse me? When it talks.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
When we talk about Astro's spring training, Joe Aspota talks
about what the first few spring training games could look
like or we going to see Al Tuve in left
field this weekend, because the first spring training game is
on Saturday's discussing next right here on Sports Talk seven

Speaker 9 (12:23):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
This is the Sewan.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Salisbury Show, Nation's Faceoff Championship game USA Canada over in Boston. Uh,
tonight seven o'clock is when that thing will get going.
Uh for the Uh what is it? What do you
would you even call like a hockey tournament?

Speaker 7 (12:41):
Ye?

Speaker 5 (12:41):
Hockey round robin?

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yeah, it's all the above, Okay, A hockey exhibition. Yeah,
a a hockey friendly even though it wasn't very friendly. Yeah,
there you go. Yeah, I would call it a tournament
eight the Frozen four.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
But no, I did see that the NBA All Star Game,
the ray ratings were way down.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
And tell me again why they wouldn't be that? The
game blows. Who's who honestly sits back? Who sat and
watched four quarters of that trash? Tripley? No, I didn't.
He don't know. TRIPLEY knows better. Now, why waste that time?

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Do they even have four quarters? Because they were playing
a forty whatever.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
They played, you know that? Yeah, that they were stupid,
play a million things. Yeah no, just I didn't. I never.
I didn't get it from the start. They still don't
get it. It blows. It's the trash ass game. Move on,
not you, but the game. Yeah, Adam Silver can't go
back to his off set. Man, what a winner that was?

Speaker 4 (13:43):
No, did see another report I think it was yesterday
that again, this is just a report that Adam Silver
is like obsessed with tournament style stuff. So you might
see you might see more come to fruish.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
In the NBA.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
You might as well just do a three on three
tournament in the middle of uh I don't know, in
the middle of April. Well you can tell he does.
We're overloaded with gimmicks in the NBA and baseball's got said. Well,
you know what the truth is not just all sports
have added gimmicks to it. They just get caught up.
And the truth is the gimmicks use it don't fly.
Who likes the kickoff in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (14:23):
It sucks? Yeah, it does suck. Who likes the All
Star Game in the NBA? And the fact that they
don't play d set up and pop threes the whole time?
And you know it's fun to get I love the talent,
doesn't mean the brand of basketball is better. Who and
in baseball, I mean we've got bigger bases. Who the
hell who the hell wants to put a guy on
second in the regular intent things. We're grown men making

(14:43):
twenty five million dollars a year. Can't play an extra inning.
It's not the play. I mean, I guess the players
are okay with it, but I don't want to hear
that it's a strain for them to go ten or
eleven or twelve innings. That's called sports man. You deal
with it. I just and the way we do this,
and it's it's hypocrisy all over the place. Yeah, it's
a gimmick. And Adam Silver's running a gimmick NBA right now.

(15:06):
That's exactly what it is. Yeah, And if you tried
everything and the best times you ever had, or back
when the All Star Game was actually competitive, and it's
never been the same, why wouldn't you go back to
the original? Original is usually the best in sports. A
lot of times now there's upgrades of change it. But
you know, like we don't make the field one hundred

(15:26):
and ten yards long because well we want it longer.
It's one hundred yards long. That's never changed and hopefully
never will. It's pretty good. Yeah, it's you know, all
those things it's changed can be good. But sometimes in life,
a comebacks better than the original because you learn from it.
And if the original didn't work, hopefully you learn from it.
But when you throw gimmicks out there, it sends you
right back to It's like clothing a man. Those the

(15:48):
bell bottoms are never coming back bell bottom to get back, right,
there's no doubt about it. So you keep going and
keep going and keep going, and you go full circle
with the NBA right now, and then the gimmicks they're
scrambling around to find. Just just pick twelve guys play
east versus West and go and if you want to

(16:09):
change it, change it in the wallet. Let's see what
guy wouldn't come if it was money take all and
winner take all the money. Either you're gonna compete or
you'll stay home because you just don't want the inconvenience. Right,
and then you know the competition. You got to create competition,
and that what they do. There's not competition. They're still
shooting the stand. They're playing the game. Nobody's playing defense.
It's it's crazy. And the sad thing is you got

(16:31):
entice them with more money to play what would used
to be. Oh, I got elected the All Star game.
What an honor right now, that's not the case. So yeah,
it's uh, the league's got great talent, doesn't mean the
brand of basketball is better and the All Star games
that absolutely it is.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
I just assume you get rid of it if this
is the way you're gonna go. Just I don't know
what you're gonna do. More money, do more money. But
at the end of the day, it.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah extended with all these in game, this tournament given
to whatever happened. You aren't good enough to get in
the playoffs, so we'll reward you that you your regular
season wasn't good enough. But we have to keep you
guys interested if you're like the ten, so you got
a chance and a play in, so you don't trash

(17:17):
the season and just give it away in the last
twenty games because you're out of it. You try to
hang in and win some. I mean, in truth, we
really catering to the point that we have to force
guys to want to play when they're losing at their job.
I've never understood you play a season, the teams that
are eligible to make the playoffs make it, and the

(17:38):
teams that aren't don't get in. You just didn't earn it.
I've never understood why we're going to give you another
chance and another chance to get in just so you
won't tank for a pick.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
I mean, think about it.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
In season, tournament, play in tournament, and now you have
the tournament style at the All Star Game.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
That's three tournaments.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Then why don't you do this? Just add them all good,
make the regular season mean nothing, and then get to
the end of the season and just put them all
in the playoffs. And let's just go see first round
single elimination, then start and put them all in. Reward
them for sucking. Okay, No, whatever happened to just here,
we got seven teams in the playoffs. That's plenty in

(18:20):
each conference in the NFL. Damn near half the league.
If you're the eighth team, guess what happens. You don't
get in. We don't. We're not giving the eighth, ninth,
and tenth teams a chance because they won two games
in December and when it's nutcut in time, they happen
to play well in the pressure. Let's put them in. No,
you didn't make the playffs, you didn't play well enough
over seventeen game schedus. You don't deserve me in just

(18:41):
like in the NBA, if eighty two games isn't enough
and you can't prove that you belong in the playoffs,
I don't care what the t I don't care who
you're pissing off or what's a bummer that city's not
interested in the NBA un lists their teams in it.
Their team didn't play well enough to get the playoffs,
they don't deserve it. It's it's baffling to me how
we think they actually think that these gimmicks. I'm just

(19:02):
telling you to me, I don't know how you watched
that All Star Game and can come out of that saying, man,
what an entertaining time. Now, if you're any kind of basketball,
if you like basketball a little, if you like basketball
a lot, if you like if you don't like basketball,
or if you don't watch it, then you turn that on.
There's no way that brought you into saying I love

(19:23):
the NBA, because it's not. It doesn't even give us
anything that has to do with the regular season. We
don't play forty point games in the regular As a
matter of fact, those guys don't play enough defense to
stop you from getting forty in the first quarter, So
you did not you know how you're trying to always
bring people in with your event. There is no way
you walked out of that All Star Game if you're

(19:44):
guy or your gals said hey, let's watch this game.
I want to see it. I don't know, and then
you came out and say, I'm started watching the NBA. Yeah,
that All Star Game. That isn't that it's entertainment, But
isn't the entertainment supposed to draw people in it should
instead of push them away. You made it worse. It's
a gimmick event and it sucked.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
The All Star Game on Sunday Night was the second
fewest average viewers in the history of the game.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Yeah, but let's run it back out there and do
it again.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
It was awful, and it's a thirteen percent dip in
viewership compared to twenty twenty four. And then you look
at All Stars Saturday Night Skills Challenged, three point contest
and dunk contest that averaged the lowest of all time.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
It was the worst.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
We're not the second worst, second least viewed All Star
Game and least watched All Star Saturday Night.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
So in the history with that there, so when people say, oh,
that's just hyperbolic. People are still no, they're actually not,
then they're not. I love the talent, like I said,
the gimmicks and the brand of basketball, and I'll still
never get why you think that get me excited for
a November December tournament no before Christmas time in the
NBA's supposed to keep me pumped up. It just gives

(20:57):
a players another chance to make a million bucks. It's
it great, you ain't charge any cheaper ticket. It sucked.
There you go. Sucked, and I love the NBA. It
bothers me because we were scrambling around for gimmicks instead
of great players carrying the sport.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Yeah it sucked, man, and the viewers showed it. So again,
the second least watched NBA All Star Game and the
least watched NBA All Star Saturday.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
The train will continue unless you do something. Get back
to making a competitive and getting rid of it. To
do something different.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
A contest tournament, yeah, no, skills challenge tournament. Bring in
the w n b A. Why not you know they
already Oh here we go. Coed game, Yeah, well that's
come and be careful. Co ed game that'll be there. Yeah,
get Angel Reese out there. We got their own all
Star game, don't they.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
I have no idea, to be honest with you, what
I say that. I mean some women playing against the
women the move. That's okay. I don't mind a three
point contest because I think women could probably be a
guy in a free throw shooting contest. Co coed. No,
I think we're good. I think we're good. We don't
need to. We don't need Lebron dunking on Angel Reese.
He wouldn't even do it anyways. Take somebody to rack

(22:04):
and and you know, maybe Angel Reesel dunk on Lebron
who knows. No, Okay, I just thought of throw it
in there for if you are going to do a
cod game, just make sure the hero is there. Bretty Grinder,
what a hero. Unbelievable. She's not as good as uh
uh pro though I know that hero. Well you use.

(22:25):
Some people like to wax on and wax off. Some
people like to paint the fence, pain happy, happy, the well,

Show continues, A girl who's on the boat with him,
a fishing girl. What is she in this in this song?
She's not a fishing girl. She the one that waits

(23:52):
for the guy when she gets when he gets back. No,
she's the one who's waiting for her man when she
gets back, like got a beer and a PASTRAVI say,
ouch the back of the house because she's running. She
like owns the restaurant bar and they go out and
catch the fish and come back.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
No, sit on a doctor.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
She's probably the chick that just hangs out on a
boat in a bikini.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Really yeah, at the front, put more respect. Whoa what
what queen? Queen? That's queen.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yeah, that's your queen.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah yeah, you just in the song, they probably describe
who Brandy is. I got to go back over the verbiage.
You know, it's a song called Brandy. There's a you
know cut, there's probably describes I got to go through
the verbie. But we may they may know exactly who
Brandy is.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
There's a port on a western bay and it serves
one hundred ships a day. Yep, A lot of passed
the time away and talk about their homes. Girl in
this harbor town. She works laying whiskey down the bartender.
Maybe she owns the bar. So she's a bar you
got her out, she's running the bar own. He's just

(25:03):
the brandy, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
The usual. Yeah. And the guys that they out there
that you know there the dock of the bay.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
Hey, Chris, hey Greg, you guys want your normal now
already changed up today?

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Talk like that? Give me a white white spritzer. How
does I guarantee if they're sitting out there on the
bay to tell me how she talks? Again?

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Hey, hey Chris, Hey Greg, you guys want your regulars today.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
That sounds like like it might be like it might
be somebody who's not a female.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
But like kind of is or is?

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yeah? Between does it really sound like like Wilson would
sound render like I would? Ladies? I knew, you know
no Foreva sailors have. So yeah. I So there you go.
She's she's the one there you go in And I'm
gonna say, though she's got a mistake in the in

(25:55):
the bar. No, That's what I'm gonna say. I doubt it.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Too much stock into I've given respect. She's probably just
probably just a college chick. Working to pay for tuition.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Wow, a shrink, Brandy dog. It's the Western Bay right.

Speaker 7 (26:13):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
Yeah, there's a port on Western Bay.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
So were they singing or were they was it a poem?
Like how many times can you? They're just telling telling
a story. I was telling you the story. There's a
port on Western Bay. It serves one hundred ships a day.
Yells the time away, yes, and talk about their homes.
And there's a girl in this harbor town. She works
laying whiskey down. They say, Brandy, fetch another round. She

(26:41):
serves them wine, whiskey and wine. Come on, dude, that
she owns a bar. A fifth grade teacher is reading
this these lyrics to her elementary class, just.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Like I did.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
When they get back in from recess, they're laying down,
they're hot and sweaty, and they're ready to go to
take an ap but I don't. And they're like, Okay, everybody,
sit down, I'm gonna read you the home. It's called Brandy.
I don't think that they're saying that. They said they
were citing a looking Glass song for their poem.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
To read for the day.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
You know, Brandy wears a braided chain, Yeah, made of
the finest silver from the north of Spain. Right, a
lockett that bears the name of a man that Brandy loves.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Right. See this is to see he's a treasure to
her booty Yeah, no, not booty, yeah, pirates for booty, yeah,
but treasure treasure boy. Yeah yeah, I know. But but
you know what she does. But when you finished female
and that ass. But people, I'm saying, as you're just
talking to a fifth grade class.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
He came on a summer's day, bringing far away and
she's like panning the book. Yeah, so everybody can see it.
Brandy's pulling. But he made it clear he couldn't stay.
No harbor was his home.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Yeah. See he's one of those guys. He's he's a
guy who you know, hey, rambling man, why don't just
settle down? He just can't settle now. He goes to
another port, another harbor, another port, another harbor. That's the thing.
I'll see you when I get back around, Brandy. That's
what he's saying to the bartender. Yeah, because she's just
a tender. No, she owns a place to Yeah, she's
been around, she's got a locket okay, yeah from the sailor. Yeah,

(28:09):
but she was and she owned the bar. Yeah, then
she'd be a boss bitch. That's yeah, boss as bitch. Yeah,
but that, but I don't think all of them are
called that.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Well they they that's how the chicks talk to each other. Yeah,
queen be a boss bitch. Yeah your bag queen?

Speaker 9 (28:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Oh yeah, oh yeah yeah, go get your go, get
your bag queen.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
Yeah. Not Landy Wilson though. No, she's like, someone give
me another os epic pill. No, I think she's probably
given another whiskey. Yeah, oh yeah, she's she's.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Or saying why bye, why are you an idiot? But
I think you need to put more respect on the
bar owner. I don't think you've done it well enough.
Today hurts cuts deep. I'm sure you got her as
a you got her as just a hay bartender. Well,
I got a request for next one, and it's a banger.
So you your request that or somebody else?

Speaker 4 (29:09):
No, I am, I am. Yeah, it's going to be
one of your dumb ass cuts, isn't it. No, it's
actually a really good one. No, it's really it's it's
gonna be by Grand Funk Railroad.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
I know all about them.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Sure, yeah, we got a We got some tickets to
give away as well.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Give them away. Give it away and give them away,
Give it away and get them away. Down you want
to do it right now? You want to do it seventh,
fIF right now, now, I'll do fifteen, all right, just

great rodeo season?

Speaker 10 (30:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (30:22):
You gone?

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Oh yeah, yeah, I am definitely going. Oh, Brandon got
a good night's sleep last night. I think you probably did,
he said, He said he slept well the night before. Yeah,
and you didn't.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
That's right. Yeah, Well I slept fine. I just had
a one hundred pound bully laying on me. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
Yeah, did he win?

Speaker 11 (30:38):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (30:38):
I don't know, you mean moving on?

Speaker 12 (30:39):
No?

Speaker 2 (30:39):
They You know, sometimes you get to the point where
you're buying votes and I can buy lost. Yeah. He
well there, I think they're in the finals now. He
made it? Was it the semis of quarters of I
don't know. He was a good balls. We want to
do is bring attention and raise some money for for
these tests.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
I think if i'm it was first.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Going into the last day or something of the of
one of the quarterfinal regions or something. I think it
was quarter files. I got to pay more attention. I
just it was great to get some some uh and
thank you for all the people who my dog Kilo
about brought awareness to that company and made donations on
behalf of all those dogs out there too. And I

(31:18):
think you could buy some votes at certain point in
time for the dogs and the money went to to
helping and you know, servicing and making sure that you're
taking care of those pets and those dogs, which is
what was the goal going in. And you know, my
boy got a good look at it and it was fun. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
And if I'm not mistaken you you brought that up.
Is it the Houston Houston SPCA or Houston Humane Society
one of them or both are both at capacity and
they need so that they need fosters, they need people
to adopt.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
So if you're.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
In in the market, I guess you could say, or
if you just want to help, Yeah, those both of
those out.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
It was a fun run. He made through three or
four rounds and it was great. Brought awareness to it
and people were awesome on social media and helping. But
more importantly it is it was for and you know
it was fun for Keila didn't have an idea what
was going on, but yeah, we did it to raise
so to raise awareness and attention for it, and all
the money that we would have raised would have gone
straight back to that. And thanks for those who donated

(32:19):
and and put money into to make sure that those
man do. When you think about how cold it is now,
those animals having to sit outside or strays and stuff, yeah,
and that that's that's a big part of this, making
sure because you know how that is near and dear
to my heart. So to get good but was awesome.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
We'll get Kilo back in the lab, we'll review the tape,
we'll make some adjustice.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
We'll be ready for next season. I can't rookie season.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Yeah, he's young, you know, he's still he's still learning
how to present himself.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
You know, teammates he does.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Really he's a really good yeah, you know, he really
likes to make sure everybody else gets the credit they deserve.
Patron and selfless teammates. He really is so big stud
handsome protectors. Off season now we'll get in the lab.
Yeah fine, he grinds though, Yeah he's grind fine. Yeah, yeah,
all right, maybe maybe those a little wheat lose a
little weight. Oh dad, he's down, dude, not down in
ninety five eight trim and yoked. Oh come on now, summertime, dude,

(33:12):
he'll be so jacked his shoulders will be up his
ear lobes.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
Yeah, but we don't want him too jacked.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
No, no to clip ears or any of that stuff.
Thank god, dude. I hate I don't know, I don't
get it. You know, it's the other thing. And I
mean just may disagree with some because no, I hate it.
Isn't it just for the optics of so I've heard
trying to make your dog, what's the reason both.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
I've heard that some breeds like big Doberman's and pit
bulls and even boxers, that they get ear infections really bad,
so they do it to lessen that.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Right, But I think jobs innarios if that's the case,
if they get like a yeast infection or ear infection,
I think I can't clip ears. Man, I'm sorry if
you do that. If you do, that's fine, but I'm
not putting you want your ears clipped? Hell no, then
I didn't know I would that.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
I would rather my dog if I had one of
those breeds or any breed that gets their ears quote
unquot clip, I'd rather have have big floppy ears and
we deal with it, and then.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Then that's yeah. I'm not messing with it until somebody
tells me I have to. I'm not. I just I
just so if somebody else I don't believe in doing that, yeah,
and I won't.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
I feel like nowadays it's forced and it's it's more
for optics.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Well it is. That's a tough, big old pit and
he's tough enough with one hundred pounds bullies tough enough.
I don't need his ears clip. If somebody does it
for show where that's what we're doing. I don't know
why they do it. Yeah, that's not for men, but
uh yeah yeah. Just to draw awareness, to make sure
these animals are safe is what was our whole intention.
And I'm glad we did. And for all those who
supported our good boy, it was awesome. It was fun

(34:31):
for him and he's he's just as handsome as I
think he is.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
Yeah, he is. He's a good boy. There's no doubt.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Seven one, three, two, two five, seven ninety is the
number to join the Sean Salisbury Shows. Doug Old Astro's
baseball Joe Spot spoke to the media yesterday and he
talked about specific roles for the team, especially that outfield.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Could it be a mix and match that's next.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Sean Salisbury, Brian, this is the Sewan Salisbury Show I
did on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
What's up Steve, Good morning guys.

Speaker 13 (35:07):
You'll hear me, yes, sir, Hey question Cabbage, is he
still on the.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Team, No, sir, no, they released him. Well, I think
like the couple weeks into the off season.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yep, is that right? Okay?

Speaker 13 (35:20):
And then my next question is the guy we picked
up at the end of the season batted left handed,
and I think he played outfield.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Ben Gamble, He's here, Ben Gamble.

Speaker 13 (35:32):
Yeah, okay, so we do have we do have a
capable outfielder that can play left field. You know, when
I listened to Dana Brown, you know, I don't know
if his hands are tied with with crane, but you
would have thought that going into the off season last
year that his number one priority would have been number one,

(35:53):
maybe looking for another starting pitcher, and number two trying
to get this outfield a little more pop, better outfields
like you guys were talking about yesterday. I mean, if
Altuova is the guy with the strongest arm, we have
a week week outfield. And let me ask you a question,
were there any outfielders that were available over the over

(36:16):
the off season. I'll hang up and listen. You'll have
blessed day.

Speaker 5 (36:19):
Thank you, Steve. Sean Alex Verdugo is still a free agent.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
So there's your pop right there.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
No known in these parts is who that's Alex Verdugo,
also known as Dookie.

Speaker 5 (36:35):
That's right, Yeah, he is still a free agent.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
It tells me that this team feels like that they had,
that the defense they have or the outfield they have
in spring training is good enough. Well, I know that
we we all disagree right now, but don't you believe
that's the case. Don't you think that if you're not
making those moves, you actually believe that the team you
have now defense, I mean not only defensively but offensively,

(37:07):
you think they're gonna overachieve. Why else wouldn't you go
do that and get into the fray with somebody else.
They've addressed second base more than they have the outfield,
and you've got a Hall of Famer that's playing there
and now gonna play left field. So they must think
more like Chas McCormick thinks about the outfield than we do. Yeah,
and I understand why the player feels a lot stronger
than maybe the optics from us on the outside.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
And to answer Steve's question, Taoscar Hernandez was available as
an outfielder. Jerks and Profar was available as a free agent.
Alex Verdugo, Anthony Santander was another one, Cody Bellinger, but
he opted in and then was traded to the Yankees.
Max Kepler was available, Harrison Bader, Jesse Winker. I mean

(37:54):
there was there were some options out there, and they
did bring back Ben Gammel, which I like. I thought
he played well here in the short time that he
played with the Astros. Obviously he got hurt. Oh, Jason
Hayward was another guy. Even though he's older and aide veteran,
he's I believe that you go to the Giants anyway,
He was available as well. So yeah, I think if

(38:16):
you are Dana Brown. One one question he did ask,
He said, I don't know if Danna Brown's hands are tied.
I think at times, yeah, I think the general managers.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
I can tell you this. With Alex Bregmant, his hands
were one. You got to a certain point where where
was where was Dana Brown gonna go? When the owner says,
you're not you're not doing this, You're not paying any
more to this. Yeah, no, that then when it gets
to that rarefied area, you're checking with the big boss.
And if the big boss would have said go off
from thirty million dollars a year, Dana Brown would offer
him thirty million dollars a year. But so, but yes,

(38:46):
hands are tied and so as all general man, it's
not just here. There are certain levels you get to.
The general manager does isn't going to get autonomy to
make every decision? Yeah, especially when he gets up into
the big bucks. Yeah, so there you go.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
Yeah, so I do think that his hands are tied
at times. But there was no question. We've talked about
it a lot about this outfield.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
You feel like a Jesse Winker guy. No, Nah, Anthony Santandell,
this is who I was got the French.

Speaker 4 (39:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, does he talk like that?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
No, he doesn't know. I don't said my name is Anthony.
If you went up to him, said, oh, Anthony Santander,
yeah's correct. You excuse me, Sean, it's Anthony Santandell. Bad.
It's okay, my bad, dude, I got you get it
right next time, Santander. Yeah it's Sandell. Well, he's got

(39:43):
a grit, hold the grit out here.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't uh, I don't know
what the astros are gonna look like with this, with
this outfield. I hope, I said yesterday foul two is
gonna be left. Put Chad mccorman over in center, and
put Ben Gambling right.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
It's not big. It's not a big gamble. It's what
I do like is that you said you don't know
what's I know what it's gonna look like. I'm just
not sure what it's going to produce. Like, Okay, I know,
I know what it's gonna look like. We'll we'll find
out if they.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Or you know what, put Dubon in center, Ben gamelin right,
the new guy, Brendan Rodgers, let him play second and
put out to Van left.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
They it's obvious they feel stronger about their defense. Yeah,
I mean, I keep saying defense because the outfield. It's
their outfield production. They think the outfield's better than our
optics do. We'll see, we're going it's good. It's gonna
have to rear its head.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Since no doubt that Spring Turney games start on Saturday.
Seven seven eighty is the number to join where we
continue to talk Astros baseball as we getting the seven
o'clock hour right here on Sports Talk seven eighty.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Hey, sort of pro painters, Sean Salisbury here for sort
of pro painters, sort of with the Sea official painting
partner of the Houston Astros, and for a free estimate,
just go to sort ofpro dot com. It's easy. They're local,
their time, they're gonna help you pick out the paints,
and they obviously live where you live. They have business

(41:06):
there because each and every sort of pro business is
individually owned and operated. They are the people you go
to church with in sale time. But they're also the
ones who do the job better than we might. As
di I wires, I love to do a lot of
stuff around the home, but when it came to that,
I wanted to look good optics. I wanted to be
protected and taken care of with the quality painting a
sort of pro painters, and so should you. And it

(41:27):
turned out fantastic. And when you got friends that say, Okay,
how did that happen, Sean, did you do this? Absolutely not.
I turned it over to the experts, and the deal
is right. The customer service is off the charts. And
as a guy who is a customer first and then
a family member second, I made the right choice and
you can too. Sort of pro painters sort of with
the sea. It's sortopro dot com, certopro dot com for

(41:49):
your free estimate. It's sort of pro painters sirt of
with the CEA, sort of pros painters. That's painting Happy.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
AVHD two Houston and the Rocket Sports Talk seven ninety
your home for your home teams, make Houston Sports the
number one present on your car radio and the new
would improved iHeartRadio app free never sounded so good.

Speaker 7 (42:20):
Salisbury, Houston.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
To usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 1 (42:33):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
Astros get ready to uh get back after spring training
this morning down in West Palm Beach. Rockets playing tomorrow.
They're off again tonight, coming out of the All Star Break,
Nation's face Off. Also tonight, it's the Championship Game USA
Canada Big Hockey up in Boston, coming up at seven fifteen.

Speaker 5 (43:02):
Obviously we have the steakout.

Speaker 4 (43:03):
We're also gonna give away two complimentary World Championship Barbecue
Contest general admission tickets. Obviously that kicks off the Houston
Livestock Show in Rodeo. Got two of those to give away.
Its gonna be a good time out there. Gets you
get you some free barbecue. Free entry, be a good
time man. Have you a couple of adult beverages or

(43:24):
maybe just some water? You know, I ain't judging. So
that's coming up at seven fifteen, seven seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Is that never to join? Uh? To win those tickets?

Speaker 5 (43:37):
All right?

Speaker 4 (43:37):
Talking about these Houston astros, let's hear from Joe Espa.

Speaker 5 (43:43):
You like that, Joe a spa.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
He talked about some bench rolls, competition for outfielders, the
middle relief. We'll see, we'll see how all that shakes out.
But this is the skipper talking about it.

Speaker 14 (44:03):
You know, I think there's opportunities on some bench rolls.
I think there is there is at least one or
two spots there that I view as competition. And I
mentioned some of those outfielders left down the hitters there
there's competition there.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
But also middle relief.

Speaker 14 (44:21):
I think that's where we are going to spend a
lot of our time where we got some of these
young pitchers who are there, who we like, who can
be that bridge to a braille and and and hater
and on the ninth who can throw that sixth inning,
who can throw that seventh inning, Who's going to be
the guy who's going to step up and and hand
the ball to a clean eighth inning to a braille.

(44:42):
That's that's where the big questions are.

Speaker 4 (44:45):
And that's Joe spot of talking about. I like healthy competition.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Well who wouldn't. I mean, if you can't handle competition
on your team, how the hell are you going to
handle the competition you got to face. I do believe
you got to gear up for it. I mean you're
either competitive. You know, some people just aren't competitive. But
as a professional, authod I seek somewhere along line you
became competitive. I don't know why we think that we
have to assure guys that their jobs guaranteed if they're

(45:11):
not performing. I've never understood that you may go in
the starter. Oh yeah, you were the income at last year,
played good, so you get the job. But right now,
tell me last year what anybody that's starting in the
outfield not named Dubon, if he plays, if he was
an everyday starter, you I'll put him in as the
leading candidate. Remove Altuve from the outfield. Talk for a second, Okay,

(45:32):
tell me why who out there is a sacred cow
that deserves an automatic starting job. None of them? And
I know no offense to chas McCormick or Jake Myers
or even Dubon or Ben Get any of them. I'm
not obligated to explain to you why there's competition. There's
competition because you know what, I think that it'll either

(45:53):
make you better or you'll disappear, make our bench stronger.
I just have never understood why all when somebody feels
like this competition, they can't do their job. Oh, how
dare him? There's nobody out there that set the world
on fire and deserves that guaranteed starting job. Now, after
the twenty twenty three season, Chas McCormick deserted desert he'd

(46:13):
earned it, an everyday job in the outfield. Chas McCormick
did not hit well, and he hasn't put a sustained
three or four great years back to back to guarantee
him a starting job. He's gonna have to go earn it.
And if that offends somebody, then screw you. I'm not
saying Chas or any of them are offended by it,
but the people out there say, oh, you shouldn't have
to compete? Why and what is wrong with it? I

(46:36):
almost feel like the great players that sustained greatness, that
they prepare for the fact that I may have to
compete for my job, but they are so good that
they put it out of reach. And that's the job
as the player. So I've never I understand going in
as the incumbent. But just because you're an incumbent, if
you go over thirty seven, I reserve the right to
sit your ass down without an explanation. I think that

(46:57):
the explanation is in the pudding. Yeah, we know what
that is. So I've just never understood why, Oh they're insecure.
If you don't tell him they're the starter, Well, then
what am I supposed to hold the bat for him?
And the bottom of the ninth And I'm not I'm
not let alone. I'm not babysitting in eleventh grader either. OK,
this is real life, buddy. Once you're out there now

(47:18):
with the money, guess what You're gonna get punched in
the face once in a while on a baseball field,
in a football field, not literally, and maybe literally. Hell,
how are you going to respond? So the competition and
I don't know what you outfielders. All three jobs are open,
including the one al two base competing for because we
got to find out if he can play it. What
if all of a sudden he goes out there he
makes four airs in six games, you'll be right back
to second day. So he's competing too out there taking

(47:41):
both to me. Now, if al two ve can play it,
there's your security because he's earned it over the years
with his performance at the plate and hopefully in left field. Now,
so other than that, the two jobs there versus who's
your benches and who your guys from long relief to
getting themselves to a bray hater like he said, I

(48:01):
don't have a problem with it. I just don't. I
don't think that. I don't think there's anybody in the
outfield if you removed Altov that proved that every day
they should play one hundred and fifty five games. Yet
du Bond would be the first guy because but he's
a verstal enough, you're gonna move him all over the place. Yeah,
But so they can save it if somebody doesn't want
the competition. And I don't believe players on the team

(48:22):
that are any good or worth assault will will battle
the fact of cud. They may be disappointed that they're
not getting the first look, but you know what, treat
like you did when you broke in as a rookie.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
Those guys don't have a job exactly. So what's the difference.
There's no difference. Sure shouldn't be seven one, three, two, two, five,
seven ninety.

Speaker 5 (48:40):
What's going on?

Speaker 15 (48:43):
Hey, guys, we'll get to Brandy, but let's talk about
the ass data.

Speaker 9 (48:48):
Brown.

Speaker 15 (48:48):
I wish I was in the UH in that UH
interview or the little meeting they had. I don't ask him.
Why is it that when a team that's won the
divisions I think seven or eight years in a row,
now has openings when camp opens up? Would you think

(49:09):
that we wouldn't have any openings for a starting position
if he did his job?

Speaker 5 (49:18):
Openings you mean just anywhere or.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
You're talking about because they've been but because they've been
so good over the last eight years that those should
be solidified. Because they've been so good that there shouldn't
be there should be an opening. They should all be solidified.
So as the problem is free agency and trades hit
and exactly that that's been the problem. That's right.

Speaker 15 (49:41):
He should have filled those roles. But he should have
that should have been taking care of We're not the
opening athletics, we're not the Colorado Rockies. With the Houston Astros,
we've been the four World Series.

Speaker 7 (49:53):
We won too.

Speaker 15 (49:54):
How many ALCS games that we've been to in a
row until last year about six or seven? I mean,
my goodness. Yeah, Dana Brown, you didn't do your job,
and Crane maybe didn't allow you to do your job.
It's the reason why you have openings in the outfield.

Speaker 2 (50:13):
And do you believe do you believe that this team,
that the front office and a manager believe that the
outfield that the veterans in there are capable of sustaining
one hundred and sixty two game season and being really good.
Do you think they really think.

Speaker 15 (50:27):
That, well, Shan, I would hope they would. If not,
that makes them imbeciles.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Yeah, But what I'm saying is if they haven't done anything,
if they haven't made a move, and they're going pretty
other than moving out to out there young players who
were hoping to turn out to be great, but they're
going in with this very similar outfield, and so competition's good.
But they must think more highly of them as an
overall outfield sustained goodness than you do. Orther we do, right,

(50:59):
because they're not doing much about it. There I think
they think the competition is going to create better players
out there. I think that's what they think. That's in
my opinion too.

Speaker 15 (51:09):
And look, you said something the other day, you don't
care what age of a guy is. If he proves
himself put his butt out there. If Cam Smith keeps
doing what he's been doing in Double A and Triple A,
and he does it this spring, his ass should be
starting right field.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
Yeah. I don't need to throw him down to the
minor leagues for a stint. If he if he if
he plays great in spring training, coming out of spring training,
his ass is on the twenty six man roster.

Speaker 15 (51:37):
That's exactly right, because you know what he's got. Kyle
Tucker kind of vibes six three two five, hitting the
ball everywhere. That guy, I think we kind of stilled
with that guy we made. We made that might be
the that might we may look back on that in
three or four years ago. Wow, what a great trade

(51:58):
that was?

Speaker 2 (51:58):
Yeh, rightfully so, because you gave up a five tool
player to get him. So, yeah, you better have got
somebody that that you can plug in there, and you
think has a twelve year baseball career in front of
him as a frontline starter, no doubt.

Speaker 15 (52:10):
Yeah, yeah, that ain't no lie. And look when you
guys were talking about the Rodgers pick up yesterday, you know,
I remember hearing his name and stuff. You know, he
was talented as a super superstar to be maybe back
in the day. And then I looked at his numbers
last year after his injury from the year before. He
had real decent numbers last year. I thought, hey, that's

(52:31):
starting second base numbers. But then you look at it.
The Colorado Rockies sucked last year. They won sixty one games,
so of course any batter's numbers are going to be down.

Speaker 7 (52:44):
You can't.

Speaker 15 (52:44):
If you only win sixty one games, you're not gonna
have many people with good RBI numbers or or anything
like that. They're they back to sixty seven at home
on the road, the Colorado Rockies back to seventeen.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
Big Ballpark, two in the outfield.

Speaker 15 (53:03):
But it's it's the it's the atmosphere. The ball doesn't
move as much in Colorado, so you get them. You
get if you're playing the Rockies are coming to your place,
all you're doing is you're throwing at them. You're not
no fastballs.

Speaker 14 (53:16):
You know.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
The problem is that. But and here's the opposite for me,
it's a bigger So the you can hit a pop
fly that ends up on the top of a mountain there,
that ball flies.

Speaker 15 (53:30):
I understand, guys, but if you read particles, ball doesn't move.

Speaker 7 (53:34):
No.

Speaker 15 (53:35):
When I say the ball doesn't move, I'm talking.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
About Okay, that's how you were talking about offense. Because
because the outer the altitude, pop flies, the second base
end up his four hundred foot home runs.

Speaker 15 (53:46):
No, no, no, I'm talking about the pictures.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
That makes sense.

Speaker 7 (53:50):
It doesn't.

Speaker 15 (53:52):
Yeah, it doesn't move as much. So that's why you're
throwing breaking stuff at them all day long when you
get them at home. But he bad, he bad did
three hundred at home, but he had two twenty on
the road. So that's the I think teams look at
that and go, oh, okay, so he's he's he's betten

(54:12):
three hundred at home because the ball's not moving when
the throwing. That may be the only other than that.
I don't know why he wasn't picked up.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
Earlier's good point. Well he is now and hopefully has
a chance to impact this team. Good stuff, Andy appreciated. Man.
Yeah that yeah, you the Rockies that that'll be a
history that their averages have always been better from Larry
Walker and Todd Helton. Although some good, good hitters like
Sharvin Walker hit wherever they want to hit right. But

(54:42):
they've had Ellis Burks, They've had some some some great hitters,
a Big Cat Galla rock Castle, They've had some great ones.
Astro's legend. Thencenzo Castilla played with the Strokes, played with
the Red Sox. It's some poplah. No one cares. Yeah, whoa, whoa?

Speaker 5 (55:02):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (55:03):
What man? You better roll up off?

Speaker 5 (55:05):
Oh you ready get the stake out?

Speaker 2 (55:07):
Yeah, but I'm also ready to tell you about the
cert of Pro Painters SIRT of Pro with a C
SIRT of Pro Painters surterpro dot com free estimate and
you go there and remember each and every curve of
Pro stores individually owned and operated, which is important? And
why why is that important? Well, you can be a
you know, one of those? Are they a stampion? Movie on?

(55:27):
Paint Move on, Paint, move on. I'm not sure you'd
like that. I wouldn't like it because there's a personal
touch to your home or your business that matters. And
if you're just one of those that's an assembly line, uh,
standing assemble line. The paint jobs coming right through. I
don't think they care. But when you sort of pro
you do. They local timely and they'll help you pick
out the paints for your home and they'll do it

(55:49):
ninja like, come in, take care of it. Safety protocols
boom out the official painting part of the Houston Aastionals
as well. So for me, this is the way to go.
Even as a DIY guy, I like to be freed
up to do some other things with my DIY. And uh,
when I have somebody who does the paint job that
CERTI Pro does, why the hell wouldn't I And you
will to protect your home it's expensive or your business

(56:09):
with the quality painting from sert of pro painters. It's
sort of pro painters sort of with a see sort
of pro painters. That's painting happy.

it's what's bout you. You gets out here and have
uh Moses could come back from the dead and walk
into the studios, say we're going to talk about partying
the Reds. We're going to talk about Sermon on the Mount.
We're going to talk about Noah in his ARC. And
he's here live in studio. Yeah, and people say cool.

(58:43):
You say, I'm giving away a koozie. Yeah, and you'll
get four phone callers if it's free, it's me give
you three of them. Dog, ladies and gentlemen. Noah's in
here talking about what happened on the arc. Came back
from the dead. Tune in and call in with your questions.
But before that, we got two free tickets to give away.

(59:05):
Four thousand calls. It's a classic. Oh my god, looks
like we got a winner. Winter winter.

Speaker 4 (59:10):
What chicken palm dinner or actually, in this case, barbecue dinner.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Yeah, chicken on the bar. But you know you get
some good grill, some barbecue chicken on air.

Speaker 5 (59:18):
Triple we got a winner. You give me a thumbs up.
I know you're on the phone.

Speaker 4 (59:22):
We got a winner, all right, I believe so, I
believe so anyways, we'll get that figured out all right
for the steak out.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Hey, before you just announce that, though, I just want
to let you know that that, uh, the Good Lord
and Lucifer are going to be in the studio tomorrow
and we'll take in all their calls. But first I
want to give away a Rodeo coozie calls. First.

Speaker 5 (59:51):
I'm glad people.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
Speak to the Good Lord or want a coozie Verson.
That's what I'm saying. You don't give them free. We
all like all free. I got it to convinced that
times they're not even sure what you're giving away.

Speaker 5 (01:00:02):
No, probably not Triplely, we got a winner. Who was it?

Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
He's still talking to some pete all of our Yeah, yeah,
don't worry about it. I'm sure he'll let us know
when we gotta win. I think Pedro is our winner. Pete. Yeah,
I love Pete up to they called Pete, Yeah, all right?

Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
The SEC greg sank in the Big Ten's Tony Petitti
Petiti patiti Uh. They agreed that the college football seating
needs to change. They had a joint meeting between athletic
director directors representing their conferences on Wednesday, SEC and Big Ten.

Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
They both agreed that the way teams are seated in
the twelve team playoff needs to change as early as
this fall. They're also both of those conferences fighting for
automatic bids.

Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Give me the well, we knew the seating was going
to change. Yeah, you just can't do that, right, I mean,
I understand what you're trying to get accomplished, but you
got to pick the four best teams as the top seeds.

Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
You just do, wouldn't you agree? Yeah, that's a no brainer,
no brainer for me. The way that they're that, that
whole thing was lined up. It was cool for the
first time.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Obviously it can make but you gotta you gotta you
got a toy with it and move it around. First
time you go out there, guinea pig it out and
let's see what happens and then make adjustments. That's okay,
and you can do it on the fly. We're trying
to make the college Football Playoff the best it can be,
and there's still adjustments. It can be made better after
watching it and then seatings at the top of the list.

Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Yeah, and they got to get that figured out, mane.
So I would assume it's gonna change and and be
done the right way. But I let me see, let
me double check this because I saw CBS Sports put
out here we go. Uh, both of them are basically
meaning the Big ten and the SEC want automatic bids regardless,

(01:01:51):
seeking four automatic bids of peace.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
No, no, let's see them and let's go play. Why
do they They don't deserve automatic bits. Why should you
get an automatic bit? It doesn't make sense to me
why they we even know to go earn it. Let's
go play. Yeah, exactly. Don't don't give into that, but
do change how we do the seating Give me the
four best.

Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
Yeah, they've been warned of the risk. Uh, not directly,
but any conference worth its media rights consultants know the pitfalls.
If the outcome in college football is known beforehand, it
loses that unscripted appeal.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Hey, by the way, Brian before you go to break.
Babe Ruth will be in studio to morrow, okay the dead.
Before we do it, we're gonna give away a Yankee coozy. Okay,
good cool? Who do you think more calls come in
for the coozie cozy? Do we have a winner? We
got two of them, Matthew and Pedro, two of them.

Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
We only got two tickets.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
So they're going alone, I believe. So wow. Well, if
one of you is going alone, then we'll give the
other one one ticket. If it's one of you, it's
a pair of ticket. It's a pair of tickets. If
you're going by yourself, you got them bowl. If you're
both going by yourself, then their years. But I would
think that the first caller was the first one that
you talking about the fourth caller, who would have won
the first winner?

Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
If Pedro was the fourth caller, he wins both of these.
Who was the first caller Matthew? Yeah, yeah, he first
caller didn't win. It was fourth, Sorry Matthew, that's our
bad dog.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
But it's one pair correct, two tickets, so just one winner,
and we don't want you have to go by yourself. No,
But Babe Ruth will be as if it's free, it's me.
How about you gonna get GIMMI. I love it. I
love of our peeps. They got great perspective. So you're
saying no to four automatic bids for each saying no

(01:03:35):
to them? I think that would be yeah, yeah, yeah,
And then then go into the season, everybody wanting to fight.
Why did they deserve four? Go earn them? Yeah, go
earn them. You don't get automatic bids because you make
the most money and you got the most powerhouse teams.
Guess what crap changes? Uh? We got an Arizona State
team that was on the verge of getting themselves into
a possible national title game. But when so you gotta

(01:03:55):
save that for me? Yeah, I need the seatings change.
But you know you don't deserve four automatic Did you
want four automatic bits? Guess what you can go do?
Earn it during the season. Yeah, there you go, pretty
simple as that.

Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
Seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety is
the number to join. Will we ever see another three
hundred game winner on the mound in Major League Baseball?
That's the discussion next, and we're.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
This Arrah, But like a leaven I.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
Believe that he died eleven years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
He did? He did, yes, three eleven, who's counting. I
could have swore, see that means he made an impact
on me because I thought it was like within the lot.
I was confident within the fourteen. I could have swore, No,
Joe Cocker passed away and.

Speaker 5 (01:04:44):
You know who he is, right, No, I know Joe
Walsh is.

Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Joe Cocker is the guy? Uh lift is up where
we belong? Oh? Yeah he was God, yeah that guy. Yeah,
but I think Stapleton could have done a little hall
and oats there with yeah soul, don't you feel me?

Speaker 9 (01:05:01):
Dog?

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Yeah, he could probably cover anything, man, Yeah, that's a
good call. He probably could. He's really good. Yeah. So
you don't know Joe Cocker? Why do you look at me?
Cock eyed? Anytime? You could weave in that name on
a show, Joecker, Yeah, you got to because you can't
say it, so you gotta weave it in you can't. Hey,
but you know what, no his name. You can't stop
being a Joe Cocker. Yeah right, don't be a Richard Right, Yeah,

(01:05:25):
there you go. I like Joe Cocker's voice though, yeah,
like yeah, like years ago when I say, within three
three years shows. He's impactful. I feel like he feel
like he'd been around forever and I missed Joe Cocker.
There you go, he's.

Speaker 4 (01:05:40):
Uh, let's see, he's a nominee for the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
Actually good, good, yeah, legend. There you go.

Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
See if he gets in seven one, three, two, two, five, seven, nine,
he's a number to join.

Speaker 5 (01:05:51):
Brandon, Good morning.

Speaker 8 (01:05:52):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
I slept well last night, Brandon?

Speaker 8 (01:05:56):
You did?

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Yeah? Awesome, Brian.

Speaker 5 (01:06:01):
I slept pretty good, pretty well.

Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
How'd you sleep? Brando?

Speaker 8 (01:06:07):
But I got up. I got up and it was
not seven, and then I went I.

Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
Went back to a down Okay, But Brandon, how did
you sleep?

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
The nice, crisp, smooth, good night? He slept good. Nice.
I think Brando gets as good as it gets his
eight every.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
Night, at least triple g. How did you sleep?

Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
I slept good.

Speaker 5 (01:06:30):
I really went to bed early last year.

Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Good.

Speaker 5 (01:06:32):
We all slept well.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Good.

Speaker 5 (01:06:33):
There you go, Brandon, what's up?

Speaker 8 (01:06:35):
I'm audio? Are you going to the audio?

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Yeah, Brian, Brian's gonna play a horses ass at the rodeo. No, yeah,
I'm going, Brian, You're going. I'm going tonight at least
one night we're going together?

Speaker 5 (01:06:49):
Yeah for sure, Yeah, just me and Sean.

Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Yeah yeah, Well are you how many times do you
think you'll go? Brandon? I'm being serious? Will you just
go one time? Or do you go to concerts? Is
it just the rodeo? Would you like?

Speaker 8 (01:07:02):
We're volunteering?

Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
Okay, okay, I know you're going to Riva? Didn't he
says that's today night? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:07:08):
Huh yeah, we're going on the first night.

Speaker 5 (01:07:10):
Okay, is that it?

Speaker 8 (01:07:13):
Did you hear this? He said he's gonna do the
the audio.

Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
Yes, yeah, that's every year, Brando.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:07:19):
Man, good coverage of the rodeo. So you're gonna be like,
actually at the rodeo, you're gonna be at like the
NRG arena, working the boosts and stuff.

Speaker 8 (01:07:27):
Oh well, we know we're working at the bar.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Nice, No, I gotta go drink, Yeah, laying whiskey down.

Speaker 5 (01:07:36):

Speaker 8 (01:07:40):
This year we're doing the h the boot cut.

Speaker 5 (01:07:46):
Is that is that a drink?

Speaker 8 (01:07:48):
No, it's cups with the boots.

Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
Yeah, but you said you said you're gonna be working
at the bar, So what kind of cups. Yeah, well,
what's doing the boot.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Okay, so maybe they have fifty cups?

Speaker 5 (01:08:03):
Okay, but what are we putting in the boot cup?

Speaker 8 (01:08:10):
The drink?

Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
We got a drink, he doesn't.

Speaker 4 (01:08:13):
He's got the bar pepper, a little whiskey, little vodka,
little tequila.

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Water, maybe soda, come on, uh uh git water? See water.
That's fine, all right. I like his style.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Brandon.

Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
We're gonna come, We're gonna find you. We'll uh, we'll
come say hello. Maybe you can whip us up a
whiskey and coke?

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
How about that?

Speaker 8 (01:08:34):
Or just a club bartenders to do that?

Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
I thought you were the bartender Brando, the bartenders to
move along.

Speaker 5 (01:08:41):
You got this. No, you don't want to do it.

Speaker 8 (01:08:45):
I heard somebody who can do it, the uh head bartender.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Your you should be the head bartender, Brando. Don't ever
think anything less. All right, we'll talk to you tomorrow, buddy. Thanks, Brandon.
I think you need to work at the man. I
need you to be working in the Turkey leg at.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
The Turkey Leg food truck. No, yeah, don't they have
them out to hand at them.

Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
Turkey legs or is that just the Yeah, No, they
got them out there, I've.

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Seen him out the different Maybe you'd be a maybe you're

may maybe I need you at the tossing onto the
rings on the coke bottles where you give me a stuff,
and well, you want me to volunteer as a car yes, step, yeah,

Speaker 16 (01:09:28):

against somebody's weight to what you say, Hey man, your
little fat at a with a pH step, come.

Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
On up, shoot into the nineteen foot goal exactly. Come
guess Salsbury's white. Yeah, make two of the three? Almost you?
So you want to try? You want to try one
more time when the basketball is actually bigger than the
hoop at the rim it's bent and doing oval yeah,

(01:10:03):
oh yeah, right up. You're spraying pay your luck, You're
spraying pam on everything so slips off. There's no doubt.
Those carnies are wild, man. I love them. I love them.

Speaker 4 (01:10:11):
Yeah, I'm not volunteering as a carney, though, I think
I think sweet, it'd be a hell of a carny.

Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
I can tell you that. Yeah, i'd buy, I would
buy into that real quick.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Oh dude, I lean. I get so caught up in
the hype and prompt the circumstance, i'd be, hey, I
might fall love. I don't reach it like you know.
Oh yeah, you got your money thing right around.

Speaker 5 (01:10:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, hell yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
It's like a fanny package. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
The guy, Yeah, got dollar bills and your Hey, this
one's on me, this one's on me.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Take a couple of cools here, you go here and
they'll do it. They'll say, I'll take your take one
more shot? Did you that's making your forces a little
one and you've spent one hundred dollars, which you could
have bought for sixty bucks store store. We spent a
hundred because of throwing a dart into a balloon. Huh
bounces Yeah, now is like forty pounds.

Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Now imagine this nice zoid walks up with her man
and you just body into the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
You suck your chick needs a man that can pop
that balloon. Or you're shooting of guy's like shooting two
headed like chest pass pass clown show what is sandwichrower?
And you're all the time you're trying to you're trying to.

Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
Move knocked down you want to knock down that jump,
She goes.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
I want you to knock it down? All right? The three,
the three right right right proved to her to prove
to a guy that the zoid needs a guy who
can knock out of three. That's all.

Speaker 5 (01:11:31):
That's a good point. Good point.

Speaker 9 (01:11:34):
Girl.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Did you say a thick zoid? A good zoid rolls up, Yeah,
rolls up with her. Dude, you know, and you try
to loud talk to the guy. Yeah, that's.

Speaker 5 (01:11:44):
You've been to a before.

Speaker 4 (01:11:45):
They run their mouths like crazy, and it's usually the
short guy with a couple of teeth, greasy hair.

Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Dude, you know what I mean. Carnival who jumps off
the thing and dives into a little tuble water. Okay,
that's who I have. Yeah, I tame the lion. You
see that guy.

Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
Yeah, I'm the I'm the guy that's that's uh, that's
working the balloon popping station.

Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Darts. It's only five, it's only one dark form five bucks,
and I got some I got some some steak oil
I can sell for eight. Come on, I'll make your deal.
I'll make you a deal.

Speaker 4 (01:12:18):
Yeah, yeah, and he should be great Carnies. I would
lean into that I would lean into that. There would
be that would be so damn fun. But yeah, I'm
not volunteering for Uh, I'm not volunteering for Boots Shiny Legs.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
No, are you gonna dug, But you would sign up
for jbar and Barbecue.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
Yeah, Well, what I was gonna say is, you know
we're talking about this barbecue cookoff. You don't have to
go to the barbecue kokoff to find the best barbecue.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
You can go there and have a blast. We want
you to go to the cookoff, but yeah, go to
jbar and Barbecue. You might as well just just cancel
the contact. Yeah, all done.

Speaker 5 (01:12:50):
Yeah, just go to Just go to J bar.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
On a great spot pre and post Astros game. What
a great spot to park. The food's off the charts, man,
I uh, I didn't realize that close there was a
type that you could. When we pulled up to it
the first time, I'm like, now this is what I'm
talking about. And then when they serve that food to
You're like, why don't I live here? How about their Yes,
you're gonna want to cot. You're going to get a cot,

(01:13:13):
you know, the kind of an army beck and just
park it in the door and just keep on eating. Yeah,
but it's great, great customer service, and what a great location.

Speaker 4 (01:13:20):
Two two zero one Leland Street, just a couple of
blocks away from the Toyota Center and DIYK in Park.
Just as Sean said, it's a phenomenal pregame spot, drink
a couple of cold beers, have some fantastic barbecue, pop
on back over after the games, whether it's a Rockets
game or an astros.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
Ny door outdoor too brown. And they have their own
parking lot right, which is so you know when you
pull up to someone and say, oh man, I can't
I gotta park with You don't want to walk a
mile to the barbecue and then have to walk to
the ballpark. You want to park go in and eat,
get all that great food, and then boom, pop over
the game and come back have a cold one.

Speaker 5 (01:13:49):
After brisket, chicken ribs.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
I mean, they've got they've got a brunch menu, they've
got breakfast as a part of that brunch.

Speaker 5 (01:13:57):
They do catering.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
They've got parties, they've got outdoor indoor, like Sewn said,
they've got live music and events. Best part is it's
just a couple of blocks away from Dyker Park. No
better than Toyota Ceent, No better than jbar and Barbecue.
You are not gonna find anything better than jbar M Barbecue.

Speaker 5 (01:14:09):
It's jbar mbbq dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
Again.

Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
That addressed to too zero one Leland Street, right there
in east downtown. The best barbecue around is jbar M Barbecue.

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
Let the celebration start.

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
War Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Ninety Cowboy Darrel, appreciate you holding.

Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
What's up?

Speaker 15 (01:14:31):
What's some fellas have? I asked me?

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
How I slept last night?

Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Hey man?

Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
How sleep last night?

Speaker 7 (01:14:40):
Man?

Speaker 17 (01:14:40):
I ain't slept good in twenty nine years? Not so serious,
Jimmy Lean, doub and toe Jared, he's nuts.

Speaker 4 (01:14:46):
Well, you ain't gonna be sleeping well anytime soon, then
that's the case.

Speaker 17 (01:14:51):
Yeah, that's okay, hey man. Uh you know what y'all
mentioned something about just that is Big twelve. I mean
that's the Big twelve, uh Big ten and the sec
about those qualifiers.

Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
Y'all know it.

Speaker 17 (01:15:04):
That started from when Lane Kiff and two other coaches
were talking about it doesn't fit to come in to
go to the championship game and come in suckond and
a couple other Big Ten coaches mentioned the same thing.
You know, so what lebar Erickson said something about, well,
then make make the second place qualify, give them, continue

(01:15:27):
to give them, uh, the second place conference losers, give
them the home field, give them the home field game,
give the first place to guarantee you by now if
it's not gonna benefit the second place team to go
to the championship based on a loss in the seating.
But then they got to, they got to they got

(01:15:48):
to fix that too. I mean, you still got to
earn the seat, but you gotta.

Speaker 9 (01:15:52):
But you can't.

Speaker 17 (01:15:53):
You know Lan what Lane said, You know, when Lank
started looking at stuff like that, Lane was serious about that.

Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
Appreciate it. Cowboy Darrel.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
Talking about Lane Kiffin, I imagine I just well, if
somebody presented me in the Cowboy Darrel's when he said
for twenty nine years he hasn't slept, I was thinking,
oh man, he's talking about the Cowboys. I've been able
to do what they want to do. I get it.
But as far as this automatic automatic, uh, they get four,

(01:16:30):
they want both want four yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:16:31):
Eight total?

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
Yeah, and there's and we're in a twelve team playoff.
Now what sense does that make it doesn't make any sense.
And he talked about Lane kivin like yet bids.

Speaker 4 (01:16:41):
Lane Kiffin has been notorious over this, probably last couple
of months, talking about these automatic bids, and he was
tweeting out everything.

Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
I mean, yeah, he's been and I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
Why they'd want it all over it, but okay, well
tell me the reason why you should give it to you.

Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
You don't, it's stupid.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
And if they change the seating, which is isn't going
to benefit the best teams instead of happening to finish
in first place because in truth, Arizona State and Boise
State would not have been one seat in a normal world.

Speaker 5 (01:17:12):
Not that they're not good, right, but they wouldn't be
of course.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Taking an account schedule, blah blah blah, all all the stuff,
margin of victory, whatever it is that the committee. But
if you eliminate the automatic you know that you have
to win the power for and win the conference to
be an automatic bid. So basically you're saying what you
want the second place team to get into. Yeah, no,
it did it make sense. So basically, if you make

(01:17:37):
it to the conference championship or whatever, you're getting it.
You're getting two teams in automatically. Yeah, well you may
get six teams, and if you keep playing me, I
don't understand why, it's just not the twelve best. And
if you get six teams, then I'm okay. If six
of your teams are worthy of being in the playoff, yeah,
well that's just a bias. Now put the community. Like
I said, now, my first thing you do. I addressed
the committee, and keep all athletic directors that are on

(01:17:59):
a current athletic director in a power for school not
allowed to be honest. It should be honest. They should
not allowed to vote. That's a major conflict of interest.
But I don't know why. And I understand cowboy Daryln
with Lane Kiffin and why you'd pined for it. Of
course you would because if you finished second, you know,
of course you would. But I don't care if too
many or two. I don't want anything guaranteed, is my point.

(01:18:20):
I don't want anything guaranteed. And if five teams from
the SEC are worthy of being in the playoff, I
got no issue with it. No, and my team's a
big ten team, so now an automatic No, I want
it to be basically what I the way I'm looking
at football. For me, it's twelve at large teams I'm
going through and the twelve best teams, and I know

(01:18:40):
the subjective part of it and how you vote, and
you know I can't, can't can Can you do? The
committee choose these without bias all those things? But you've
got to get the right people on the committee to
make these decisions.

Speaker 7 (01:18:53):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
So for me, and you got to watch a lot
of football, And I always ask, are the teams? Are
the people voting all watching these games as often as
they can can? Uh? To me, the twelve best teams go,
I don't believe you deserve an automatic bid.

Speaker 5 (01:19:05):
No you shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
You don't get a four automatic bids for conference? Come on, man,
So what if you're what if.

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
You're like playing in the Big twelve and the best
teams wins eight games? Yeah, let's just say that was
one of those years, right, the best team wins eight
games nine max lose three lose four games? Should they
be automatically in? No?

Speaker 5 (01:19:29):
Three loss?

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Even if you're the conference champion, you may get in
as a twelve champion a game you'll get in. I
can't make a case for you even in the top
eight or ten at four losses in the Big twelve.
Can you nus the four losses came to four secs
if we're just playing a round robin tournament, but we're not.
You got to play in your in your conference, all
those things. So to me, I why is why do

(01:19:51):
we make it this difficult?

Speaker 4 (01:19:52):
Well, you look at just last year all missed three losses,
South Carolina three losses, Alabama three losses. All three of
those were pining for that those final two spots. Need
none of them got in.

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
Okay, and with that shouldn't get in? And I understand
that they say is the three because you know what
they did, they vote, They went in and came with
this after it was all done, saying, well did you
see how bad they got their ass kicked? Whoever got
their ass kicked? Right, Yeah, that's how it was, right
Lane Kiffin. Well, they said it every time, well they
got their ask kick, we wouldn't have. How do we
know you would? And you may very well not have,

(01:20:24):
But we didn't say before. It was after the fact
that oh man, we should have been there. Well, of
course it's easy to say after that because the team played.
You didn't know SMU was going to get beat up
by Penn State. Right, Okay, but during the season sm
you played a better brand of football at least consistently
all young. Now, if SMU played Ole Miss, you do
have the argument. It comes down you know what, the
biggest key to all this is the proper Committee. Yeah,

(01:20:48):
I agree. The proper Committee will listen if I'm voting.
You know how, I'm hard on my trunks. I don't
care what conference gets in. I want the twelve best teams,
and I want the four best teams to be the
top seeds, and let's go football and see what happens.
I'm not giving you automatic anything. The automatic is you
get a chance to earn it. Yeah, Or do you
get an automatic seed as a as a in the

(01:21:10):
tournament if you're in a SEC team this year? In
basketball tournament, is there an automatic one seed? No? No,
it's an automatic one seed when you play properly, when
you played good enough throughout the tournament to win the
one seed I've been talking about leading up to the tournament,
the conference championship in your regular season, then we'll give
you one seed. We're not going to automatically guarantee you're
going into the tournament just because you're in a conference.

Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Yeah enough, yeah, you look at you look at game.
Notre Dame beat Indiana by ten Texas beat Clemson by fourteen,
Penn State blew out SMU, and Ohio State blew out Tennessee.
And Lane Kiffin after the Tennessee blowout, the SMU blowout,
and even Clemson and Indiana both they were closer games
but they still weren't even close. He had some kind

(01:21:54):
of tweet or comment about it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Okay, so let me ask you, this wasn't Tennessee Helton
high regard all year long? Oh yeah, and they got
their ass kicks. So now we're to say, well, we
wouldn't have I mean, Tennessee's in the SEC. So I know,
I'm a I just don't understand what happened to me
versus you. Whoever has the best all season long, take
it in the committee is more important to me. Honestly,
if the committee, if the committee's got some problems and

(01:22:19):
there's favoritism, why in the world does a power for
ad get to be on the committee. It doesn't make
any very confidence, It doesn't make anything. I don't get it.
You mean you can't find thirteen people across this country
then no football and watch it. That can't give you
fair under the I promise you as I'm sitting here now,
I'm as critical as se as any they if they don't,
I'm not favoring the Pac twelve or or when it

(01:22:42):
was the packed over now the Big ten because se
just because well I'll take into account everything and if
you put the criteria down and know your role and
who what you're supposed to do, it should be a
pretty easy way to vote and watch football. The eye
test does matter. I just to me, it's fascinating how
well we're in this conference with automatically that we should
just get four bids. Stop it, go earn six of them.

(01:23:04):
Then you can have six of them. I'm not giving
you four before we even start a game. Yeah, no,
that's doing it.

Speaker 4 (01:23:09):
The seating needs to change, and that the committee needs
to uh be revamped as well. Let's get into the
eight o'clock hour. Seven one, three, two, seven ninety is
the number to join. Yesterday we talked about the Texans
maybe looking to get a new stadium with publicly funded money.
Well there's some bad news if you're the Texans and
you want more public money.

Speaker 5 (01:23:28):
What happened we'll talk about it next.

Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
Fine KB Houston, k TV HD two Houston. That's a Rocket.

it's easy man. It's not on your radio to boom boom,
boom boom. You can get to it quickly, and it's

It's a good word, man, toggle it really is.

the more complicated in an app, the less you're gonna
use it. Not with the iHeartRadio app, it is so
damn easy to compentrate.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
And doesn't give me what I want. I'm out. Yeah,

shows in the country right here.

Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
Top podcast, top playlist, top artists, and so much more
on that new and improved free iHeartRadio app. All right,
talking about some NFL stuff, So yesterday we hit briefly
on the fact that the Texans might look to build
a new stadium or do some improvements some renovations so
we discussed that in that article by Jonathan M. Alexander

(01:25:49):
of the Houston Chronicle, the fact that there could be.

Speaker 5 (01:25:55):
Let's see how to put.

Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
This taxpayer money, taxpayer money could be involved. They want
public money to help build that stadium. If that's the
direction that they choose, a lot of you as taxpayers
do not want that to happen. Well, bad news if
you're the Texans. The NFL yesterday and formed teams that
the twenty twenty five per team salary cap will fall
in the range of two hundred and seventy seven point

(01:26:15):
five million in between that and two hundred and eighty
one point five million. That is way up from last
year's two hundred and fifty five point four million dollars.
So that cap is going to be increasing more and
more each year, and in the last two years sean
fifty three million dollars. Fifty three million dollars over the
last two seasons. So you know what that means, more
cap space, higher salary cap, more money for these owners

(01:26:40):
and these franchises. So the taxpayer is going to say,
your salary cap just went up. That means you're making
more money. You don't need our money build it on
your own, kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
Like the owner who says, I'm just going to take
it and do it all myself. Yeah, takes a lot
of coin, and that there's some cities who will do it.
And really, when you break it down, they're not going
to It's not like they're taxing you ten thousand dollars, right,
But still it's the principal even if it's hey, everybody
pay a buck, you know whatever it is, right, and
it's a lot more than that. But and then who's
gonna find it? But anytime you put it on the

(01:27:12):
when you're ready for a new stadium, not only when
you put a new stadium. And here's the problem with
new facilities. They're awesome and we love them in the
upgrades for the end, and you know what you'll get'll
guarantee that Super Bowl or two more within a decade.
You know, you'll get a couple of them. They already
like coming here because there's you know, hotels and entertainment
and there's a lot to do and it's most of
the time but pretty warm weather city. So with that,

(01:27:36):
but what happens is you talked about it not only
salary capping all those things with players but let's say
the fans want a new stadium. Okay, well you're going
to pay for it, and then when it's opened, everything's
going to be more expensive, yes, because of what it
costs to build the make up for it, right, and
we're paying more to our players than the rest of it.
So you really now you win because when you walk
into it, it's like that's cool. Yes, bad as now

(01:27:57):
Frea can afford season ticket and then it's sweet, then
it doesn't matter matter to you. But if you're the persons, okay, now,
now I got to do this, Now, that's the problem.
When if you can renovate it and fix it and
build something around it. But the truth is if the
price comes out near where you like renovate and building
around it and have to upgrade it with sweets and
get it and really get it up to standard NFL standards,

(01:28:17):
not not not the lower third but the top half
of the top third, then then you know that's great.
Then then retrofit it and redoce some stuff and take
care of your business and and let's get it right.
But if it's going to be if the expenses are
going to be so much, you say, oh my gosh,
why don't we just build a new facility, find the
right place, build a new facility. But just the simple

(01:28:39):
principle of taxpayers would be I got this. If you're
you know, go get five year billionaire friends. You know,
I hate you know what I'm saying, honestly, get get
some people who want to invest it, that they want
to want to share a part of it. Go get that.
But taxing people, because the truth of the matter is
most fans, the benefit they get is the optics. Yeah,
it's awesome, and you get it your hot dogs, you know,
there's more stands to get your hot dogs and all

(01:29:01):
that stuff. But in truth, you're just gonna pay more
for it because you building a new facility. I'm all
for a new facility. If it's in the right spot
and there's entertainment around it, let's go. I always like
the I like old school stuff and new school upgrades.
But there is a price to pay for your optics
and for when you walk in the facility, there's more entrances,
easier to get in, there's a lot of space. All that.
With that, Yeah, comes ticket prices are going to roll

(01:29:25):
through and everything's in your price everything. Sure, I'm all
for it, but you just got to know that if
you're you're gonna pay a little extra all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
Our beer and food price is more expensive at an
NFL game, an NBA game, or a Major League Baseball game.
In your opinion, what do you think in your experience, Well,
you don't really don't go to the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:29:40):
Yeah, so I haven't been to an NFL game, go
to I watched from four years. I've been a couple
of times. Like I said, since I mean since I
quit playing TV.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
For me, I've always felt like NFL games have more
expensive beer.

Speaker 5 (01:29:54):
Just talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Alcohol, I think NFL probably is the most expensive of
all of them, which is ridiculous. Yeah, I think we
talked about this all the time, but I think it
isn't an average seat in the upper tier, isn't that
a couple hundred bucks? Yeah, it's like four hundred bucks.
I you know, it's in I'm probably the wrong guys
because I don't know. I mean, you know, Astros tickets
can be expensed, especially depending on who you're playing, sure,
but which is It always feels weird to me that

(01:30:17):
you have to charge an extra premium at the premium
price they're on the same schedules, but because the name
from the optics of the history of the things, that
I can charge one hundred more dollars and people will
pay for it. It's weird, but it's it almost feels
like rent control that you should. Let's control the sea.
You can't gouge people. Not saying but it's just like, hey,
two hundred for this game normally, but it's four twenty
five when the Red Sox and the Yankees come to

(01:30:37):
town or to watch soda, so inevitably you're helping. You're
helping that right exactly. So for me, it's I would think,
I mean, I've been to you know, go to a
lot of hockey. I try to, at least in the past.
Baseball where they're often hoops. College hoops is cool. It's
got to be NFL. It's got to be NFL. Per

(01:31:00):
price for each piece of food and take, I would
think the NFL is the king when it comes to
the high prices.

Speaker 4 (01:31:08):
Let's see average beer price at an NFL game for
a sixteen ouncer.

Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
Let's see ten bucks, eleven bucks. What's it at the
dyking park at Well, it depends I paid.

Speaker 5 (01:31:24):
We paid. Remember we went to the World series.

Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
Those damn draft beers are twenty dollars at an MLB.
Let's see beer prices eight bucks, so seven eight.

Speaker 2 (01:31:36):
Bucks, So football two or three dollars more expensive? Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:31:41):
And then you got, of course, you got stadiums like
the Rockies. Average average price for a beer three dollars.
Average price for a beer at a Washington Nationals game
fifteen fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
I've been there, I've been there. I've been to that
ballpark before a couple of times. It's it's expensive, just
like when you go to Yankee States and there's certain
parts of the country are going to charge you more.
That's crazy. Well, what's a beer at Dodger Stadium charging
you know? Well, or at SOFI you know, you're probably
paying a pretty penny and.

Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
Sixteen ounce beer at an NBA game ten bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
So baseball, baseball, they're all within a couple bucks. But football,
I think if you ended up winning and said, hey
we're gonna we're gonna buy a bunch of food and beers,
you'll end up costing you more to a football game, just
like the tickets I think are a little bit more
y'all on average, are they not?

Speaker 8 (01:32:32):
You?

Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
Hockey tickets aren't cheap either. Now, if you want a
good premium seats at a hockey game, they're expensive.

Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
Average price for a beer at at Dodger Stadium I
gotta say about fifteen bucks. Sixteen bucks, Yeah, yeah, I would.
And if you want to go get yourself a premium
beer like a local brewery, IPA or something, twenty dollars
for one.

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Yeah, hard pass man. So that's there's somebody to do that.
That's double the rice from here.

Speaker 4 (01:33:00):
Yeah, it's double because I think you go to uh
Saint Arnold's Brewery right there behind the Crawford boxes uh
at at Dyking Park. I want to say those craft
beers like during the regular season, like twelve bucks is
the it's a big one.

Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
But want to be the one in the corridor behind
the Crawford box.

Speaker 5 (01:33:19):
Yeah, I think it's They have a big old cans, right,
they got big cans.

Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
But they also have the big draft ones, you know,
like of their local brewery beer.

Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Problem with the big, big, huge draft. By the time
I get to the halfway through, gets hot.

Speaker 5 (01:33:31):
Yeah, hugging a Saint Arnold's.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
You're not, No, you're not. Yeah, give me a guinness
and let me chug three little So I'm sick to
my stomach for a week. But you know what I'm saying,
Yeah so so, but those big ones, like by the
time I'm done to I'm I just didn't have two
cold ones instead of half a hot one. Yeah. So,
but it's the price. So I would imagine the football overall, unless,

(01:33:54):
like now Dodger Yankees team, you're going to pay a
premium price to go in there.

Speaker 5 (01:33:59):
I wonder what it is in New York who.

Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
Made pretty similar Buddy's got to be close. Yess what
I say for Dodger stables for premiums? Yes, sixteen for
normal Yep, there's no way this is correct. Eight bucks.
I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it either for
what a No, that's for the what do they call it?
When you have a little three little beers there and
you like the flight, Yeah, the flight that's their flight.

(01:34:22):
Only one comes with it. You get to take a
shot of beer for eight bucks.

Speaker 4 (01:34:26):
Yeah, sure, man, Oh, stupid New York Yankees. Dude, there's
no way this is right. Eight bucks. I'm not buying it.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
Yeah, but they may charge you four hundred bucks for
a general admission seat and then they save you the
two bucks on a beer. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:44):
Why the hell is it so expensive in Washington? Why
is it sixteen dollars a beer?

Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
Dude? People don't charge beers based on their team. They
charge beers based on their It's the location of the ballpark.

Speaker 7 (01:34:56):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
If your team's good, now you can do whatever you want, right. Yeah,
but you're in d C. Yeah, but Washington w suck
there will they have won a World Series? They have,
and then fasty players roll through there. It's a good ballpark.
Oh yeah, dude, they they're fans too. They don when
the season opens up, they don't suck. We don't know
how good they're gonna be. True. Oh, so you're you're
paying for local man, Yeah, there's true.

Speaker 4 (01:35:16):
You're paying for location seven one three two one two
five seven nineties number to join. So with the salary
cap raising in the NFL, how does that affect the
Houston Texans?

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Will discuss it next.

Speaker 1 (01:35:26):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues on your Roku. Listen to
Sports Talk seven ninety on any device with our free
iHeart radio apps.

Speaker 5 (01:35:38):
Talk a biscuit? What's that biscuit?

Speaker 9 (01:35:41):
Top of them? One of my brothers a Lalena before
I get the my talk on the stadium, man Seoan.
And this is the one thing that I don't have
been talked about enough, Lalena. If you're the third base
coach of a visiting team the Dyking Parks and as
a man on second base and the ball get hit

(01:36:02):
between the short stop and the third base, it is
going to left field, and our two v's out there,
you mess around, get a rotator cup strain on your arm.
You'd be swinging it so fast, man, you Shine, I
just can't see him two way throwing anybody out if
it's a sacrifice fly ball to the shallow little field.
I'm running every time I'm running.

Speaker 2 (01:36:24):
I just thought, I said yesterday, I would you got
to test this outfield's arms right off, about all three
of them. You have to. You have to.

Speaker 9 (01:36:34):
I can't believe we're going into the new season with
this outfield. Man, it's got to be the worst outfield
in baseball.

Speaker 7 (01:36:39):
It's got to be.

Speaker 9 (01:36:41):
I just just man, I don't know, but you know, anyway, Shining,
let me get to the stadium thing and let me
say this, Shine, I was over there fourteen sixty three.
You out that way, right, I was gonna have fourteen.
I went to a place called Tad.

Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
You've been there. Oh yeah, you're talking about the world
right out four when you get off the freeway. You know,
good addition could right show on there to the left
where you get some uh some uh some Louisian, some
crawfish and some casion, some good Cajun food. Yeah, it's awesome, yes, sir.

Speaker 9 (01:37:10):
And there's a lot of land out there way and
it's a Sean.

Speaker 7 (01:37:13):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 9 (01:37:15):
It's called Harrison County Sports Authority, right right, and guess what.

Speaker 15 (01:37:19):
Guess where the stadium got to be? What county the
stadium got to be.

Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
You're not You're not coming out to Fort County, right.

Speaker 9 (01:37:27):
We're not coming out to Fort Being okay. And that
was the problem we had last time, Sean, uh when
and that's why we ended up back where we were.

Speaker 7 (01:37:34):
You know, we couldn't this Listen.

Speaker 9 (01:37:36):
It's about thirty five percent of people in the city
Houston metroplex area. It's gonna vote no on everything, okay,
And so in order to get it passed, you probably
want have to put it back where it is.

Speaker 15 (01:37:49):
And that's why.

Speaker 9 (01:37:51):
And now the Texas got a dilemma because the reason
Bud got ran out of town, Sean is we did
some renovations to the Astronome and then I later, you
want to come back and get a new stadium, and like,
hold up, man, we just did the renovation. Yeah, And
so the only reason we was able to get the
stadium thing past Sean was Bud left and the Astros

(01:38:15):
was talking about leaving, and so we said, well, we
can't lose both teams. And so we decided and we
throw the football stadium inn as like a slide thing.
It's like we're building a baseball stadium, but also we're
gonna throw something in throw the football stage. And that's
how we got it built last time. And it's still
only pass was like I want to say, somebody can
call it. It probably was sixty eight sixty nine percent,

(01:38:37):
you know what I mean. It wasn't a like nin
or nothing like that, right, so you you you know,
and this is not a real big sports town, Seane,
you know, and they would and we were sold last time.
If we builded the dick and Park, downtown is gonna
be a lot of stadium and as you see what happened,
you know, we got a few now to be fair

(01:38:59):
sean and downtown Houston is a hundred and chimpison better
than what.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
It used to be, no doubt, Yes, absolutely was.

Speaker 9 (01:39:07):
It was a ghost sound down there before. Now it's
still has a long way to go, but it's a
lot better in order to get it past.

Speaker 7 (01:39:14):
You're gonna be right there.

Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
Yeah, there's no shot there coming out to where we are.
That's right, there's no shot.

Speaker 9 (01:39:20):
They might possibly go down to eighty eight south toward Parentland, right,
because there's a land down that way. That would be
the only place other than where it's at now.

Speaker 18 (01:39:29):
And you know it rolling County in fullsher You're exactly right, brother,
not gonna happen, much to my ship, gonna happen, that's right, miscud.
Appreciate you, brother, you're spot on with that. He's right,
And like we said, and tell further notice, even if
Altove's a great defender, I am challenging the arms in

(01:39:53):
that outfield. Tell the frigging put it this way.

Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
Yeah, that guy comes around and that third base coach
will get all the way down the third base line
and he's he's dipped down in his stance saying if
you see it, get your ass down and stay there
right Or he's running down the line and sticking up
his arms on the turn, saying now take a quick turn,
but get your outs back to third base. Don't throw
behind you. Winning out going into the season, you tell
your runners take the base, yeah, make them make the

(01:40:20):
perfect play in the outfield, come up clean, but also
on the crow, hop that they make the perfect throw
with the proper velocity and giving a cutoff. Manage all
those things that come into outfield play that we've worked
on at nauseum in our lives. Right And I'm challenging,
buddy until you prove to me. I'm telling you right now.
On a mid fly ball on a tag at third,

(01:40:41):
I'm sending you you got to prove to me. And
hell if you got a decent runner at first on
a on a roller to the gap, and again the
right fielder's got a backhand and come up hosing it
or to his left and pinned up against the wall,
you know, meaning to his left and the foul and
the valire. I'm taking third base on a hard on
a single that's about to roll around, I'm on my way.
I'm running right through. If I'm the guy on first

(01:41:02):
and a guy hits it there, running right through second
and making you beat me at third base to prove
you can throw it. And if you do one or
two times, it'll change. It's like beating the blitz in football.
You blitzed me and I hit you for a touchdown.
You might think twice, I'm running until you prove to
me one of those outfield arms could throw me out.

Speaker 5 (01:41:16):
Yeah, regularly.

Speaker 4 (01:41:18):
And with all that being said, if jose Al two
bays your starting left fielder and you have Jake Myers
and Chas McCormick in the outfield as well, jose Al
Tuovi has the best arm out of all of.

Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
Them, which is frightening. And I love I love Josey,
but you wouldn't picture him as a Carlos Korea or
each he row in the outfield borrow. Yeah. So, and
then it's one thing I don't care. There's plenty of
guys who got hose and can throw through a car
wash without getting wet, but we can't hit the car wash.
So I got to see accuracy, but you know you

(01:41:49):
gotta have. There's gonna be plenty of opportunities this year
where they got a chance to throw a guy out
and get assists until you prove to me you can't.
I'm running on this team. Yeah, that may very well
be the weakness of the team. I'm not even about
the offensive outfield production. I'm talking about the defense, the
throwing statistic and metrics that you're going to have to
have on certain plays, especially in close games, if you

(01:42:10):
don't have a defensive replacement with a hose late in
the innings. Yeah, I'm running, Brothers. I'm going all Ricky
Henderson on there till the cows come home. Yeah, rip
is Yeah, man, we lost one of the greatest.

Speaker 4 (01:42:23):
Joe Spott was actually asked yesterday morning about the outfield arms.
What did he have to say about it?

Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
That's next.

Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

How we filed out there? Fans?

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
They got nice? How was your commercial break? Pretty good?

Speaker 5 (01:43:08):
Good man?

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
Nice? You got prime for the next Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:43:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
Climata Street, Clematis, Clematis? Yes?

Speaker 5 (01:43:18):
Have you never been in Clemata Street?

Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:43:20):
Good?

Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
Nice E. R.

Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
Bradley's right over there too. Good spots down in West
Palm Beach.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Yeah, good, good, good radio shows. Sparky and TK getting
after it tonight. I like it.

Speaker 5 (01:43:31):
Live edition of astro Line.

Speaker 2 (01:43:33):
Have you ever seen well, never mind, never mind, No,
I was gonna say, I would love to see that
in person, to see that that reaction that, That's what
I was gonna say. Okay, Steven TK, But I've never
been I've been to spring training one time down there.
I'm usually head West for spring trating, as you know.

(01:43:54):
But and here's the irony of it. You realized, all
these years of being a die hard fan and growing up,
I've never been to their spring training, Which is crazy?
Isn't it really about? Ever? You've never been to Jet
Blue ever? Isn't that weird?

Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
You know, we got to play their last time the
champion in a big gass champions massive championship game.

Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
You know, my whole life it's been like. And I
love spring training. I go to spring training, but growing
up in the West, you know, usually stayed the cag
when Vegas had some Yuma used to have the padres
before then. Now everything's in that Phoenix Surprise, Scottsdale, good Year,
all that mesa and it said there's so many, Oh,
it's unbelievable. So you go. But I'm sitting here thinking,
I have never I've been a Fenway Park plenty of time.

(01:44:34):
I've never been to spring training to watch the Red Sox.
Just gone for two weeks and just kicked back, which
is crazy. You got golf, you got beaches, aren't fight
you know, whether you're going to Fort Myers or wherever
it is.

Speaker 5 (01:44:43):
Yeah, Jeb Parks.

Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Yeah, And I'm thinking of that's just that's crazy. Is
it not so weird? Yes? I need to do that.
So I've been to West I put it this way,
I've been to West Palm to watch the Astros, and
I've never been to watch the Red Sox spring training.
For me, that's odd, that's very odd. Yeah, all your travels. Yeah,

(01:45:05):
really weird, but I got to make that a priority
just because kind of you know, it's just kind of
who grows up with it. It's like saying, I've never
watched the Raiders practice, and I have, right, even as
a grown adult, gone to their practice. Right. So yeah,
it's uh, it's a it's a trip. But spring training,
this air, this time with basketball and with getting the excitement.

(01:45:26):
Everybody thinks they're good, even if you know the local
fans go, well, you know, you want some changes, but overall,
you know, the canvas is clean, right, yeah, and everybody's excited.
I just love it too, because it signifies so much
getting into springs. Weather's turning around, you got hope what
I love the journey of it.

Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
I do.

Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
I freaking love this time of year.

Speaker 4 (01:45:46):
Weather's turning around. It's currently twenty five degrees outside.

Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
It can only turn around one way, buddy, and that's better. Okay,
and the craziness at this time next week you'll be sweating.
Yeah it's outside, and play golf you will sweat. Yeah,
we're not playing golf though. What I've never met a
guy who's disdained who I don't have a disdain. No
you hate it. No, No, you hate golfers and you
hate it. No. Yeah, I've noticed. I don't get it

(01:46:10):
for a guy who likes competition that wants to I mean,
you know you'll never conquer this sport. You can't conquer it. No,
But I mean, would you rather sit around and watch
TV or go play golf? Hatch? What's the weather? Seventy five? Oh,
I'm playing golf ninety No hard pass, I mean ninety
No humidity Scottsdale, a buck ten in the summer. No

(01:46:32):
nine o'clock t time, no play.

Speaker 4 (01:46:34):
I'll play thirty ninety five degrees at nine o'clock in
the morning in Scottsdale.

Speaker 2 (01:46:38):
Yeah, I'll know, I'll play thirty six. Now, I know
you dry heat, dude, you'll roll through.

Speaker 5 (01:46:41):
You'll I know you have some.

Speaker 2 (01:46:43):
Drinks in the past. Nope. So you really are going
to temperature watch on your golf that's what that's your
temperature watch.

Speaker 4 (01:46:49):
Yes, Why the hell would I want to tea off
at eleven o'clock in the morning in the middle of
the summer here in Houston. Awful, terrible even at seven
o'clock in the morning, eighty five five degrees and gross out.

Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
Basically, you're saying, at the best time of year to
play golf, you don't play because there's going to be
like that all the time where anywhere, unless you travel
to the midwester through exact Canada, I'll go.

Speaker 5 (01:47:12):
Or Carolina East.

Speaker 2 (01:47:14):
Yeah, play a little golf in the st basically, got.

Speaker 5 (01:47:18):
West or whatever's going?

Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
Yeah, you got you gotta you're telling me now, Yeah
that if it's like, Okay, what's your threshold, give me
the give me the temperature.

Speaker 4 (01:47:25):
Temperature like to play. If it gets over ninety two degrees,
I'm out, So eighty five year in.

Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
If it's eighty five humidity and.

Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
Humid ninety percent committed here, Mmm, that's cutting close, Okay,
Scottsdale ninety five, one hundred and no humidity, dry heat.
What time nine in the morning, ten in the morning.

Speaker 5 (01:47:46):
I'd probably play that.

Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
I probably play that.

Speaker 5 (01:47:50):
I was in.

Speaker 4 (01:47:51):
I was in Scottsdale last year for Labor Day and
it was one hundred and thirteen.

Speaker 5 (01:47:55):
I play in that when I was there. Yeah, No,
I'm out, dog because another.

Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
Thing, you can play three hours because most people they
don't want to play, Yeah, because they're normal, they're right.
So I'm out there eighteen and I get to play
eighteen holes and you're out sid, You're you're getting in shape,
You're getting some vitamin D. Vitamin d's nuts, right, that's
what you're gonna say. I don't understand. I know it's
a good walk spoiled for some, but it's just everything
about golf life and golfer just parallel. Dude, hit a

(01:48:22):
bad shot, got to come back the next day, get
mad at yourself. No the help.

Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
That's the beauty of golf. You don't have to come
back the next day.

Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
If you want to be good at it. I don't
play to be average, Brian, I don't know, okay. I
don't wake up to be average. At the morning, I
wake up and say what could I do to get better?
So cheez. I just put my passion for it, and
I like to be the first guy off the tee.
You know why you said, I go right and I
get to I know that I'll have to hit and
wait my favorite. Like I said, two hundred and sixty

(01:48:50):
five yards on the flagstick, surrounded by bunkers and water
and a twenty seven handicap will wait to hit a
two undred sixty yard shot when Scottie Scheffler wouldn't wait.
He's going to hit an iron up there because there's
no landing area, and then you're gonna chip it up
and make birdie while you're taking your triple and then
plumb bob bobbing from seventy five feet. Yeah, I don't
want to wait for that. Yeah, but that's the only
snob part of golf. I just I just like the man.

(01:49:12):
It's just so I don't work in the golf industry,
and so I don't know. Yeah, I just you know,
I want to sell golf apparel too. If it's make
our own you ready, make our own golf parrel? Yeah,
why not, let's go. It's a massive industry, you'll think, Man,
A lot of a lot of I know, I know,
I fund them. Yeah, we know that keeping a company

(01:49:33):
into I'm funding somebody's build. Yeah. Hey, how's our first
before we go? Our series A? Well, Sean spent eight
million dollars on our clothing. Uh, just any and it
didn't taken the tag off because the weather's too coold.
But he's an idiot, So yeah, there you go. There's
a lot of golf friends these days, man, and a
lot of good ones. Yeah, there's a lot of good ones.

Speaker 4 (01:49:53):
And then you know guys like Johnny O's are outside
of their damn mind.

Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
But you'll buy one, one one. At some point you'll
buy one. No, when you gonna be nice to signing
a nice momus, go.

Speaker 5 (01:50:02):
Buy when's that gonna happen?

Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
Well say, I mean, yeah, yeah, happened will Yeah, I'm
gonna pay you one for gonna. I'm gonna make sure
you go on. Matter in fact, it's gonna be. It's
gonna be when it when the when it kicks off,
it's gonna be my gift. Okay with a T, not
a G I F because uh well, so you said
you said, you said, like weather standards on your game

(01:50:25):
one hundred percent, Yeah, one hundred percent. I'll talk you
out of it. If it dips below forty ain't playing golf.
No wind fifty forty eight degrees no wind, no wind. Yeah,
that's perfect, suns out, turns out yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
let's go.

Speaker 4 (01:50:38):
Sixty five seventy seventy five eighty low humidity.

Speaker 2 (01:50:43):
Twenty four suns out. You got yourself like, you know,
no wind and golf. Yeah, I'll play my whole three
year warm you're warm. Yeah, no, big deal.

Speaker 4 (01:50:52):
He knocked down a couple of uh, you know, bloodies. Yeah,
a couple of Bruskies.

Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 5 (01:50:56):
Yeah, a couple of teddy Bruskies.

Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
You grab a car.

Speaker 5 (01:50:59):
No, I ain't smoking poles on the golf course, Sean.

Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
I do cigars. Not a pole, but a cigar.

Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
Hey, I got I got a real question for you.
These are real questions, are true? Are we that concerned
about Jose al Tuve's arm, like, honestly, excuse me.

Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
To the point where I think it's going to be
the difference in whether they make the playoffs or not. No? No,
But do I think that if our guy, Jose's arms
the strongest in the outfield, there's a problem. And it's
not even really him. It's the fact that we're saying
this and you're thinking going in. If we're thinking this,
what are the other teams thinking? Listen, I hope it

(01:51:40):
turns out great and they all overachieve defensively, offensively, But
if you're just looking at, let's face facts, arm strength,
You don't have an arm. One day you're not don't
have a strong arm, and the next day in the
offseason you've built it into one hundred that you're throwing
bbies from right field or left field. They are what
they are, So what they got to do to position themselves,
get themselves in a better position. Antis paint balls off

(01:52:00):
the bat and try to stay out of those. But
it'll find you, as we know, the ball finds you,
and the ball's gonna find Hose al Tuove and I'm
sure he'll do fine. He's a pro and he's a
Hall of Famer, but it is an adjustment for him.
Sees the ball different right in that say case. But well,
let me ask you this. Let's reverse it groundball to you.
You're on first base, and I'd say, Jesse Barford, we'll

(01:52:25):
go current. Who's the best arm in baseball right now?
Best arm in baseball? Oh man, Let's let's you want
to put Bets out there. Bets has got a hose,
right he's got a good arm, a best arm and
right field in baseball right now. Or we can use
anybody in the past each ye row a guy like that.
Let's use that kind of a Clemente Iachi Row type arm.
And you know that going in and you're on first base. Yeah,

(01:52:49):
and there's a medium hit ground ball to the gap
and back in it. You're gonna and he's got the
ball and you're just to hit second base. You you
tooch in that arm. He's going to prevent you.

Speaker 5 (01:53:02):
From running even though you're probably not right. But now
now reverse it.

Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
So there's extra basis to be had or challenged and
going in reputations everything. The reputation of Clemente was, if
you're dumb enough to challenge him, you're gonna get thrown out.
The best on two road, Dewey Evans, all those guys,
best arm and baseball right now, who is it? O'Neal
Cruise okay, and center when he plays centerfield, he plays
short and center when he played in center field ninety

(01:53:27):
nine miles an hours. Okay, so are you challenging him?
Just the reputation Loan says it went in doubt, stay
on the base right, yeah, okay. Now when you say
the Astros, I say winning doubt. What are you doing?
I'm going I'm testing it. You're going to test it?

Speaker 18 (01:53:39):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:53:39):
Fortis is up there as well from right.

Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
He's always had a good hose, even when he was
at shortstop.

Speaker 4 (01:53:43):
Matt Walner as of last year, this is per stat
Cast ninety seven miles an hour from Ightfield.

Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
So there's some guys who plays for the Twins and
O'Neil Cruz. I can see that great leverage. You know,
he's got that big, tall body, right yep. So the
point is is it going into it, you have a
preset notion of what you're gonna do. And listen, nobody's
coming to Houston thinking these these arms are preventing. We
got to play big ball because we can't play small
ball because they'll throw us out, we can't take extra basis,

(01:54:09):
when in truth, you're coming here saying we can get
some extra base here at least going in Now, now
you're gonna have a chance. Now you gotta face it.
Can you throw them out or not? So do I
think that the outfield arms as a whole can become
an issue, don't you? Yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah. So
then and then you got to get to the ball,
and when you get it, you're gonna have to make
fee throws along the way. So we'll see they're not

(01:54:30):
gonna lead the outfield in the end. Major League Baseball
and assists this year, I right thinkright that doubt it?

Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
There you go seven, one, three, sevenineties is the number
of the joints. Keep talking astros.

Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
You back at it charts and I know there's an
appearance coming up this weekend. Get some guys out there
to see. But uh, our guy Nick Skirfield soon too, man. Yeah,
you guys, hate to have you guys. You know what,
if you come bearing gifts like this every time, then
we have there'll be a new team. It'll be five
of us.

Speaker 19 (01:56:39):
Yeah, okay, well, I got uh Haffy Ferrara here, the
general manager at Jbar, who you guys know well.

Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
And we speak of it that the customer services through
the roof and it's because of you, ma man. So
Haffey's off the charts. So it's great to have you guys.

Speaker 19 (01:56:51):
I told him I was maybe gonna come see you
guys this morning, and uh so Haffey brought three their
giant cinnamon rolls, which I've fallen victim to those many
times at Jbar. Yea, And so we got some for
you guys and the crew, and also some T shirts.
So I've done They've done some awesome class Dan Pastorini,
all kind of guys, so awesome stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
And your brother and his son are here, I mean family.
I love it. We've got a full studio.

Speaker 7 (01:57:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:57:14):
Yeah, he got my brother Armand and my nephew Asher.
They're visiting from Atlanta. So, uh, you know, happy to
take him to the number one morning show. And he's
right say it again. So the people I'm talking about, Yeah,
but then again, who's count exactly?

Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
We are? Yeah, that's great to have you in, man,
So tell tell us first off, tell us how Jay
barm is doing man, man, they're doing grand They're killing it,
but just just validate what we already know.

Speaker 7 (01:57:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:57:37):
Well, I know they're really excited about their new partnership
with you guys, and you know they are right by
dyke in Park. It's really hard for me to come
to terms with calling it dyk in Park.

Speaker 5 (01:57:48):
I haven't come to grips for the yet.

Speaker 11 (01:57:49):
And I appreciate it where the Astros play, Yeah, exactly
where they're right by where the Astros play and Toyota Center,
and I mean, it's a top twenty five Texas Monthly
best new bar barbecue in Texas, and it's been phenomenal
and one of my favorite things about going there besides Hoffey,
the owner John Toomey ninety six years old, University of Houston.

Speaker 19 (01:58:09):
Grad and grinding every day, right, every day he's there
is six. He's there every day with his grandson Charles,
and mister Toomey. John is reading the newspaper, the Wall
Street Journal, he's reading the financial reports. He's there with
his dog smoking, making sure everything's in line. It's really
it's really incredible, and.

Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
It's pristine, yeah, clean into the foods off the charts
and so underrated is the fact that you pull up
and there's a place to park yeah around that. It
really is. I mean, it's just it's almost like the
Good Lord and the Magical said, here's the perfect spot
to land your barbecue spot. I'm serious, And it's just
everything about it. You walk in and it's just then
you put the food in your mouth and you're like, Okay,

(01:58:46):
it wouldn't matter about anything else because it's so good.
But it's awesome. And every time I hear ninety six
grinding every day. And there's a reason he can grind
every day because he stays involved. Oh yeah, you know.
It put him in mattress back together and we have
we could probably light up a whole city with their energy.
They just keep grinding. But this is so when you
guys told us that ninety said, come on, he doesn't

(01:59:06):
come in every he's grinding all the time.

Speaker 5 (01:59:08):
He's there every day. It's it's really incredible.

Speaker 19 (01:59:10):
And and also they have actually their Joe Aspota, I
know you guys were talking about him, mister Bendigo, he's
a regular there. Kelvin Samson, coach Sampson's a regular there.
And they actually have a Wall of Fame menu that's
launching March first. So when you walk into Jbar, right
by where you order on the left, there's a wall
with all the pictures of which we need to have

(01:59:31):
a picture of you guys going up there soon.

Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
Yeah, they're gonna need to put on a body where
people can still step on it. Okay, that's Accessame Street.
One of these things is not like the other US
US and the rest of those great names you mentioned,
but if you want, well, we're not too.

Speaker 19 (01:59:43):
Proud to beg no a man where it's called their
starting five. So they're they're launching it with Kelvin Samson
and Joe Aspota, Earl Campbell, Clyde Drexler who goes there
often with his nephew James, and then uh and John
McClain also who's been a regular there. And we're thinking,
you know, for the next five, we're gonna definitely have
to get Sean and Brian. Basically, you guys, tell us

(02:00:03):
your favorite play, we're gonna put it on there. But
you can go there basically order what those guys like
to order, and it's cool. It's a really fun thing.
You never know you're gonna see what and the foods
off the charts that I love it too. It's like
the Joe Leonardi. We're the last four him.

Speaker 2 (02:00:16):
Yeah, right the day once you get to the days
alive and.

Speaker 4 (02:00:21):
Well, man, do I see Johnny Manziel was out there
the other day. Johnny Manziel was there.

Speaker 19 (02:00:25):
I think he was in town for Travis Scott's softball
tournament over at the place where the Astros play.

Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
I hope you I hope you guys know and and
I know you do. What did? It's gonna be packed, man, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (02:00:40):
I know.

Speaker 2 (02:00:40):
It's a good problem. But people, everybody, it ain't just
the name. People are gonna come there and we've been
asked about it fifty times and said, you guys, and
when they go in there, they're not gonna want to
leave because the food is off the charts, it really is. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:00:53):
Yeah, So what what do you got going this weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
Josh or something?

Speaker 19 (02:00:57):
Yeah, I brought a bunch of trading cards in here
to show you guys for my friends over at US
Coins and Jewelry, and.

Speaker 5 (02:01:02):
Uh, they do some stuff here at iHeart as well.

Speaker 19 (02:01:04):
Yeah they do, and they're they're gonna have a big,
big extravaganza for National Trading Card Day which is this weekend. Actually,
I got a card right here for our friend Alex Bregman,
who you know, rest in peace.

Speaker 2 (02:01:15):
Let me get that.

Speaker 5 (02:01:17):
Yeah, yeah, I know you're happy as a Red Sox fan.

Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
If we're gonna lose him, at least he went to
a team that I love.

Speaker 19 (02:01:23):
And you can't knock a guy for taking forty million
dollar to go play in a place.

Speaker 5 (02:01:26):
Where he hits three seventy five in his career.

Speaker 2 (02:01:28):
I'm driving him there if that's the case. If I
if they're gonna do that, you know what I mean.

Speaker 19 (02:01:32):
Yeah, So US Coins is gonna have they're calling it
Houston's Ultimate Trading Card Day, So Kenny Duncan junior brother Matthew.
They're gonna pull out three hundred something collectibles, autograph, Baseball's jerseys, memorabilia,
they're gonna do a red sticker sale and all that stuff,
and they're gonna have Josh Reddick, Astros World Series Champion
is going to be there for an autograph signing from
eleven to twelve. And Owen Daniels, the Houston Texans legend,

(02:01:55):
and I know a friend of you guys as well. Uh,
he's gonna be there from ten to eleven signed autograph,
So ten to twelve on Saturday, you have Owen Daniels
there ten to eleven, Josh Reddick eleven to twelve. And
I'm gonna be out there. Man, it's gonna be a
lot of fun. They're gonna be pulling out all kind
of crazy cards and memory bile.

Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
I can't wait. Awesome, And that's I've told you. I've
been in there, and Kenny in that group of Dell awesome.
And and when Michael Barry told me about it, and
you go and they got everything. You go in there.
You're planning to spend a while because it's so intriguing.
When I walked through there, I mean I was, I
was not privy to it. And when I was, it's like,
oh my gosh. And as Michael Berry will say, my
good friend Kenned Duncan, yeah, you know I got.

Speaker 4 (02:02:32):
I told him one day I said, man, I said
give me that rare nineteen forty seven Northern Illinois coin.

Speaker 2 (02:02:39):
And there he was right there in front of me
text And when I came here, I needed a copy
of the Texas Declaration and he got. Kenned Duncan Junior
got this.

Speaker 19 (02:02:47):
Guy has nailed it, man, and it's on those short
list of places I'm going to bring my nephew Asher
and my brother.

Speaker 2 (02:02:54):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (02:02:54):
It's a really it's a really Houston spot.

Speaker 9 (02:02:56):
Man.

Speaker 19 (02:02:56):
Yeah, Sean, we're gonna get you in there to get
some good Red Sox stuff next time you got to.

Speaker 2 (02:03:02):
You known Red Sox jocked dude, really really have never
even been in their spring training. I've been. You haven't
been to Fenway. Oh I'm not a Red Sox fan.

Speaker 19 (02:03:14):
But your baseball went to Fenway the Alcs a few
years ago when the Astros won, Uh Cathedral, Brother Cathedral incredible.
We went, of course to the World Series and lost
to the Braves right after that, which I don't want.

Speaker 4 (02:03:27):
To still to this day. Have you ever seen his
video when he walks through Dodger Stadium? Yes, Oh, it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (02:03:33):
Man, were seed he can say that he wants there.

Speaker 4 (02:03:37):
Yeah, he's walking through it was Dodger Stadium, right, that
was Dodger Stadium in twenty one is the first time
we played the Dodgers after COVID, after the signing scandal
came out, which you know, everybody was cheating, but it's okay, and.

Speaker 19 (02:03:50):
Uh, you know, walking around everybody. Literally all the Dodgers
fans thought that Josel Tuv was wearing a wire and
a buzzer and you know they and they were just
I mean, it was like going to a political rally
when you're on the other side of the political rally,
and man, it was crazy. And I walked through the
gauntlet at left field. I would not recommend it to anybody.

Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
Yeah, the pavilion in left field, Yeah you know about that?
Ill do.

Speaker 19 (02:04:11):
I go there at USC for games in the outfield
and I saw a lot of fights break out when
the Dodgers will play the Giants. The guy that got
stabbed in the parking lots there, I consider myself lucky
to it's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (02:04:24):
So tell us real quick, but more about we always
obviously know about jaybar and barbecue that killing any specials
or anything going on, just pop in there. We'll continue
to tell you guys about that. It is the best
food on the planet. It is. And once again this weekend,
what's going on at the US at.

Speaker 19 (02:04:37):
US coins does National Trading Card Day? You know it's
Josh Reddick Owen Daniel's two Houston sports legends going to
be there for autographed signings, and I'm really looking forward
to They're giving out free packs of cards to all
kids under fifteen, and I think Kenny's actually going to
give out free vintage packs to all the dads and
moms who go in there as well.

Speaker 2 (02:04:54):
So right off Katie Freeway, it's easy to see ye
right off I ten And I don't know if you
guys saw as well.

Speaker 19 (02:04:59):
The Troilberger's made an announcement yesterday, but we've got a
big activation coming to the Rodeo. Next time we come
in here, I gotta bring some food for you as well.
We're gonna have Bunbee called it Trill Town, and it's
gonna be burgers, tenders, trill lemonade games, all kind of
merchandise right by the Krogergate NRG Stadium.

Speaker 2 (02:05:17):
So that's gonna be a big one. I can't wait
to see you tomorrow. Uh yeah, you're the best. You're
always welcome here and we are so fortunate. Great for
the partnership, man and barbecue and pop on in there
and see those guys get a chance to see a
guy that could probably make a few plays in the
outfield right now.

Speaker 19 (02:05:33):
To get I was trying to get Hofey over here
to give you guys a yeah buddy, but next time
maybe we'll get some South African just real quick for
the listeners.

for coming by, dropping off some gifts, some phenomenal cinemon rolls.

Speaker 3 (02:07:35):
Again.

Speaker 4 (02:07:35):
Jbar M Barbecue is the place to be two two
zero one Leland Street, right there by dyke In Park,
right there by the Toyota Center. It's fantastic, man no
doubt about it. Let's get back out to the phone
lines talking to Astros. Lewis, you're up first, what's happening?

Speaker 7 (02:07:50):
Hey ahead, Good morning guys. Hoek you're doing one question
because Lettville and I'll do it. But who is going
to replace Tucker? Don't heard anything? And because the right
field you need a bigger arm, and obviously the production
of the battage and the hard to replace. But I
haven't heard anybody, uh, or none of the rookies. I

(02:08:10):
have heard that they replaced him, or at least tried
to be the starter at the right field. So I
want to ask you guys, maybe I missed it the
other class question and and and this is quick for
you guys. Uh, when you guys were talking about memorabilia,
but Bragman and I got a bunch of stuff from
Royer Clemens back. I mean I went to ut when
he went when they won the championship in eighty five.

(02:08:31):
And and I have thinks signs like Clemens, but I
don't think that that that he has ever really got respect.
Maybe they're stably with Petty, they're the young speeches whatever,
but they pitched for the Astross. So I like to
take to hear the tech on on on both of
these guys to see if they ever gonna be like
I appreciate it as a as astros. All right, guys,

(02:08:54):
I'm gonna let you go and listen, good morning, and
thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:08:58):
Well. I'll tell you this, I Roger Clemens is one
of the best right handers we've ever had. If it
wasn't marred with the thought of you know, the little
the the PDEs that are hovering. Roger Clemens is a
no brain pictures of all. I am too, the commissioner

(02:09:20):
that oversaw the eras in the.

Speaker 5 (02:09:21):
Hall of Fame, which is wild to me.

Speaker 2 (02:09:23):
You oversaw the era. You're the CEO of the era,
and guys under your wing, and there's no way you
can quantify all of it to say one guy wasn't listen.
It's like a sin. You're saying, what's you're sin different
than my sin? So if one got their sin and
the other one didn't get caught with their sin because
they did the right thing, it didn't make that sin
any better.

Speaker 4 (02:09:43):
Yeah, And then and another thing, the gate keeper of
the Hall of Fame, of the writers that made millions
and millions and millions of dollars off that steroid era
and then covering.

Speaker 2 (02:09:53):
Writing books and everything else about it and getting paid off.

Speaker 5 (02:09:56):
That, and now all of a sudden, you want to
be that self righteous craft.

Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
I got it. Save your holy n Now, I got
your moral high horse right around the kneecap. Anyway, I
can tell you this. So Clemens, I think people here
I think he's phenomenal. And Boston I know they think
he's phenomenal. He was phenomenal in New York. He's phenomenal Toronto.
He only won Cy Youngs everywhere. It felt like. So
if if we're not getting if he's not getting the

(02:10:20):
respect he deserves, I can damn fill tell you I
hold him in the highest regard as a pitcher. And
what's seven? Cy Youngs?

Speaker 7 (02:10:26):
Yea?

Speaker 10 (02:10:27):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (02:10:27):
Seven?

Speaker 3 (02:10:27):
Seven?

Speaker 7 (02:10:28):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (02:10:28):
Are you kidding? Are you kidding? And then and then
and then Nolan Ryan none and then Roger Clemens no
no hitters, which is crazy seven. First, yeah, there you go,
so that's right. And then on the other side he
mentioned arms. Who's in place right field? I can tell

(02:10:48):
you this nobody right now, nobody. It's an open competition.
So it'll be young guys, It'll be Ben gamble, it'll
be Chas McCormick doing some right field play as well.
I would think he's probably lewis the leader to play
right field right now? Is if now, because he's not
gonna play left field? If Jose Al TVs. They're playing
one hundred and forty five games of it, and you

(02:11:10):
know Myers is going to be the roaming centerfield with
Dubond backing him up. I would think that right now
the lead dog is McCormick in right field. But as
they should open competition, so we'll find out. But my
guess is on opening day, Chas McCormick's you're starting right
fielder for now. Yeah, I would think that's it. And
there's just not an arm that's going to be compared

(02:11:31):
to Kyle. Oh no, you're not anywhere anytime soon, at
least not hitting, not getting that right now. No you're not. Jay,
good morning, Hey, what's so?

Speaker 7 (02:11:41):
But oh I see y'all talking about s bar Is
it bar barbecue?

Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
Jbar jbar jbar m barbecue. It's off the charts.

Speaker 15 (02:11:52):
We heard the other one off of airline.

Speaker 5 (02:11:54):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (02:11:56):
One barbecue, only one, only one.

Speaker 7 (02:12:00):
Well, I ain't gonna say the name.

Speaker 15 (02:12:02):
But Bill Gates ight there and he gave it his endorsement.

Speaker 2 (02:12:05):
Bill Great, and that's there's all the reason I don't
want to go there. Okay, thanks, thanks, Bill Gates gave
an endorsement outside and it tells me to wear a
mask and get vaccinated at the same time. Or he
doesn't like me and then buys up all the land
that the barbecue spots are on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll
pass on it because he has money. He got to

(02:12:25):
deserve my respects. George straight, ain't there? Yeah, yeah, that's
all right, lost George. George's George's compass must have got
off base in a little bit.

Speaker 14 (02:12:37):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:12:37):
I love Bill, I love Bill Gates this restaurant. Of course,
I don't mention the name.

Speaker 7 (02:12:42):
Yeah, all right, I won't mention that. But but Sean, yeah,
tell me it ain't so tell me.

Speaker 15 (02:12:47):
You're not gonna put the tallest man in the lift field?

Speaker 5 (02:12:51):
Tell about.

Speaker 2 (02:12:53):
Yeah, well man, how I did he go.

Speaker 7 (02:12:56):
Steal home runs?

Speaker 8 (02:12:57):
Jay?

Speaker 2 (02:13:00):
Don't know who could steal home runs in Crawford boxes.
That's a hell of a jump. But I'm I'm with
that's a high jump over that fits, brother. If you
can get up there, then he's in the wrong profession,
uh a high jumper or whatever he wants to do.
I know, I know, I know what you're talking about,
my man. I'm just giving you a hard time. I listen.
They've decided that that's something they want to do, and

(02:13:22):
whether we like it or not, they are looking for
bats and ways to get everybody more offensive production. And
if he can prove that he can field it and
catch it and do his thing, which he's athletic enough to,
you're gonna see that jose Al two Bay is playing
left field more often than you want him to unless
you see him. But yes, it's them. Thing we did
wasn't art decision, and we thought it was gonna just

(02:13:44):
be if Bregman came back. No Bregman left and they
are still. I would imagine when we open the season,
if all spring goes well, jose Al two Bay is
gonna start in left field in the opening when the
opener kicks. So who's gonna take his place? At second?
They're gonna they're gonna put well that it's a battle
right now, It'll possibly be Debond, It'll be uh my gud.
They just signed h Brendan Brandon Rodgers who is a

(02:14:06):
Gold Glove winner. That's and there's another reason they're bringing depth.
And it appears there that al two Bay is going
to spend quite a bit of time in left field
if the early returns are what they what we believe.
BLUs you by the way, thank you, So there you go.
Appreciate it, Jay, thank you. That's that's just the way
it's going to be. And uh, I'll make sure I
stay away from I don't know, I try to put

(02:14:30):
a put some in my neck or something. Bill Gas.
I've got to let him ship me into a dog
on a robot or something. Yeah, no, I'll pass. If
he wants to donate a billion dollar star show, we can't.
Yeah not, I'll take that. Yeah, we can be what
I wanted to. We can be bought, Yes, we did.
We should be bought for sure. Seven one, three five
seven ninety is the number to join.

Speaker 4 (02:14:51):
Let's keep on talking Ashros again, this whole thing about Jose.

Speaker 5 (02:14:54):
Al too Bay's arm Joe deal.

Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
Yes you think so? I think so? Okay, I think
we really are what you This is an all star
in a Hall of Famer that should be able to adjust.

Speaker 4 (02:15:02):
He'll be okay, Yeah, I think he'll be okay. Joe
Spotto was asked about it. Let's hear from the skipper next.

Speaker 2 (02:15:06):
Hey, guys, let's also talk about my guy John at
Country Boys Roofing. It's a country with the K boys
with a Z Country Boys Roofing LLC dot com a
proud member now of the Better Business Bureau. That's a
lot of hard work and great stuff put in by
my guy John, who is looking after you as well.

(02:15:26):
In a time with people are probably says, think about
the weather we got now, somebody's going to come out
of this with even though it's not raining today, but
the cold, somebody's going to come out of this with
needing help on the roof, a new roof, getting out
in front of you know, the spring, rain and April
when it comes, all those things. And John's here to help.
One thousand dollars discount when you mentioned my name, And
if you're a first responder, an educator, a military, you

(02:15:47):
get one thy five hundred and it's off the full roof,
not off four shingles. Let's be right about this, and
you don't get to double dip. So if you're not
a first responder, military or educator, you get a thousand
if you mentioned my name. Otherwise you get fifteen reward
those who deserve it and you all deserve it. Not
to be price gouge at the time of stress. Want

(02:16:07):

claims that country boys roofing. They're nasty and nobody likes
to do that. They'll help. They'll go anywhere in Houston,
no job too big or too small. Love them and
you will too. Country Boys ROOFINGLLC dot com. Country with

Speaker 1 (02:16:26):
I'm back to the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (02:16:31):
Live edition of Astraline tonight on Sports Talk seven on
your home for astros A Baseball starting at six o'clock.
It's gonna be Steve Sparks, Todd Kallis and they're gonna
have on Joe Aspata.

Speaker 2 (02:16:41):
We uh.

Speaker 4 (02:16:42):
We had Joe Aspota on The Matt Thomas Show with
Ross yesterday live from West Palm Beach and he spoke
about Jose Altuve's outfield throwing arm.

Speaker 5 (02:16:50):
Let's hear from him.

Speaker 14 (02:16:52):
I'm not concerned about it. I think he will. He
will figure that out and he'll he'll get it. So
us being a and middling fielders, you know exactly where
you need to line up. You know exactly what the
runner behind you is doing. Now he's the one executing
that first throw. So that's that's the transision that he
needs to make. And I'm sure that he'll.

Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
He'll do that.

Speaker 14 (02:17:13):
So we're doing this by faces, right. I think Phase
one was you know at Diyking Park. We we've worked
like for almost three weeks, fly balls, we deal our work,
we did some video, we work on his techniques, you know,
we we we talked about the challenging are the challenging
Our wall is now Phase two is spring training.

Speaker 2 (02:17:32):
Now is the sun the elements right? The sun the win?

Speaker 14 (02:17:35):
You know, now we'll you know, it's the base runners,
it's the strategy. It's runners trying to go first to third,
trying to challenge him. So we're going through all that
for the next two weeks. And but I'm sure that
he'll he'll figure it out. We're going to give it
everything we got. You know, he's his mindset, it's where
it needs to be. And and I'm sure that we
if this works. It just makes our team that much better.

Speaker 5 (02:17:55):
And that's a manager.

Speaker 4 (02:17:57):
Joe a spot of talking about jose Al Tuvey and
three in the Baseball from left Field. He was on
yesterday with Matt Thomas and Ross with The Matt Thomas
Show with Ross from West bom Beach.

Speaker 2 (02:18:05):
Is it a major indictment on the outfield if without
Bregmann here you still moved him to left field? Yeah?
Is it more we love jose Al tuove out there
or Josel Tuovey's got to go out there and save
the save the outfield?

Speaker 4 (02:18:17):
I think I think, Uh, I think a couple of
things here. I think one, I think it's no shock
to us, at least you and I Josel two Vay's
defensive metrics to continue to decline.

Speaker 5 (02:18:27):
They're not very good.

Speaker 2 (02:18:28):
That's not and that's not an opinion. That's a fact.

Speaker 5 (02:18:30):
That's a fact.

Speaker 4 (02:18:31):
That's that's second base we're talking about, correct, that's second base.
It's not that they've gone down. He does not play
a very good second base as of late. So there's
one thing I think. Also, you heard it from Joe
Spotty we played the audio yesterday and Dana Brown. They
both said it gives versatility because they don't want jord
On in the outfield.

Speaker 2 (02:18:49):
Gives them more bandwidth. Yeah, but it is true because
if you had a solidified outfield, you couldn't move him, right,
And this has been going on for like two months now.

Speaker 4 (02:18:59):
This isn't just because of Bregman. They approached alto vot He.

Speaker 2 (02:19:03):
Originally we thought it was going to because of bregmant
because they said, well, if Bregman this is Joe said it.
He goes hinges on what Alex Bregman does and then
he now he left. But you're still so this plan
was a big a plan that was This isn't a
knee jerk plan. No, But it also tells me, in
a roundabout way, whether you want to admit it or not,
that they're basically saying to us, did our outfield needs

(02:19:25):
help at the plate? And quite frankly, maybe they think
al two ve can play good enough defense to at
least get an extra bat in the lineup at second
base without having to sacrifice Dubon every day. Right And now,
I mean and he would Dubon would love to play
there every day, but without giving up the fact that
you're going now I wonder how you're going to maneuver

(02:19:46):
and navigate that second base position on a daily basis.

Speaker 4 (02:19:49):
Well, now you have the Brendan Rodgers kid once that
deal is official. If he makes the team right, makes
the forty man, and he hits like he's done, he's
probably going to hit better. And Dubon Jake Myers chas McCormick.
Obviously the numbers might be a little bit inflated because
he played it, but he's gonna use up some time
there if he probably he's a gold glover, right, So

(02:20:10):
it is Risio Dubon who's gonna hit better. So I
think me personally, Sean, I think there's gonna be a
lot of different lineups this year.

Speaker 5 (02:20:16):
Again. I know he talked about sisty with.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
Us only one player or two players, but you're right,
I think there's gonna be movement. How could it not
be if al two bays playing left field most of
the time, You're not gonna start Rogers or Dubon there
one hundred and fifty games, You're gonna move around. You're
gonna get not as many lineup changes as you got
last year, almost almost one hundred and fifty of them. Yeah,
but you're gonna get more than you want. I think
it'll be matchup based. There's that's when the analytics and

(02:20:41):
metrics will jump back in too.

Speaker 8 (02:20:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:20:42):
I think it's a couple of analytics. Yeah, so matchups
as well.

Speaker 4 (02:20:46):
I'm not too concerned without two VA's arm and left
field now, is it the strongest?

Speaker 18 (02:20:52):
No?

Speaker 5 (02:20:53):
Is it better than what they have now?

Speaker 8 (02:20:54):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (02:20:55):
Man, when you're playing in minime park, that's short portion
and left, you still and increases the chances of you
trying to throw somebody out from home if it's hit
a routine ground ball through the hole. The bounce off
at too, you know, but then you gotta worry. My
worry for Jose Altuve in left are gap shots and
balls hit right at him. Those are tough. Those are harder.

Speaker 2 (02:21:15):
Those are harder than quite frankly than making the throat
of a you know, steat of basically just the judgment
of you know, we all have this tendency I want
to take a step back and then on the ball's
hit straight, you want to take a step up with
that ball. You know, there's some of these blows of
late jump on them right with top spin. So uh,
here's what I'll here's when you'll know how they feel.

(02:21:37):
In the first time they're in a tight ball game
and it's the seventh or eighth inning, who's playing left field?

Speaker 5 (02:21:48):
Do you see a defensive sub.

Speaker 2 (02:21:50):
That's when you'll know just how much they trust the
outfield or the left field position defensively. But you're not.
At worst, you're not going to move him from left
field to the bench. If he's got a bat possibility
in the ninth inning, right, you'll just move him around.
You'll move him from left field to second base and
then find a way to get a defensive replace that.
That would be the change because if there's now if

(02:22:11):
he just hit and you're up one and it's going
into the eighth inning and you're not gonna see him around,
hopefully you're back into your bullpen saves it. Who's gonna
play left field?

Speaker 7 (02:22:22):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:22:22):
That and you very easily could see a flip flop
if you if Bob is a second right you could so.
But the longer he stays out there, and the more
he stays out there in clutch and in clutch moments
in a game, now you're not gonna pull him out
in a two two games? Why you still want us
to about at the top of the lineup, but defensive replacement,
how often are you gonna do? It be interesting to
see how he develops in left field.

Speaker 4 (02:22:44):
Yeah, it's gonna be. It's gonna be. Yeah, it's it's
gonna be different for sure. So we'll have to see
how it goes. First spring training game for the Astros
is gonna be on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (02:22:54):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:22:54):
The Automatic ball Strike Challenge system is coming to spring training.
How do you feel about it? Should they implement it
full time?

Speaker 2 (02:23:03):
That's next?

Speaker 1 (02:23:06):
The Seawan Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 5 (02:23:10):
Elton John's got him a man, doesn't he?

Speaker 2 (02:23:12):
Yeah? He know ast for a while as for a
while Elton David Furnish, Yeah, this is his husband. Yeah,
they've been partners for a while from that man. Yep, awesome.

Speaker 4 (02:23:24):
Yeah, they let's see they've been together since ninety three
and they finally got married in twenty fourteen after same
sex marriage was legalized in the UK.

Speaker 2 (02:23:31):
He talks about at his concert, He'll be He'll look,
you'll give a story, but not in a here's how
we we just in a like how he impacted his
life while he was writing music, and he's like, while
he's playing it's a.

Speaker 5 (02:23:42):
Sot rocket man playing in the background, and he's like, oh.

Speaker 2 (02:23:44):
You ready to hit the post and go outside.

Speaker 5 (02:23:46):
It's just the the you know, I talk about rockets music.

Speaker 4 (02:23:49):
Yeah, my husband's a rocket in his own Look at
that handsome man over that.

Speaker 2 (02:23:52):
Yeah, that's not how he So that's not how he talked.

Speaker 15 (02:23:56):
I like.

Speaker 2 (02:23:56):
I like your effort, though, I do. I like he
trying to engage all kinds of of genres. Yeah well no,
all kinds of different vibes. No, just all kinds of
of different languages. Oh, bring different cultures into urban culture, man. Yeah,
you'll go South African. Yeah, but you think you're doing Australian,

(02:24:17):
which might be Britain British right, yeah, bah British.

Speaker 5 (02:24:24):
Yeah, yeah, I'm throwing some country you know.

Speaker 2 (02:24:27):
Yeah, yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:24:29):
It's you know, I always talk about I'm still standing
when me and David have been standing together since ninety three.
It's given up for my husband, David that that didn't happen.
Wembley Stadium goes wild.

Speaker 2 (02:24:40):
It didn't happen. It didn't happen in American Airlines Center
in Dallas. No, it didn't. Oh yeah, did I ever? Yeah,
he's another guy who's did I ever, he's a guy
that's also had about forty retirements. Oh yeah, and then
then he'll do a residency in Vegas and make like

(02:25:01):
two hundred million dollars a year. Yeah, just to live
in a fifty thousand square foot suite at the at
the wherever he's doing his residency and have carte blanche.

Speaker 5 (02:25:10):
Why not, Man, it's Elton Johnson, Sir John Damn Wright.

Speaker 2 (02:25:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:25:13):
Hey, with this automatic ball strike system, it's going to
be tested in spring training. Each team will start with
two challenges, and they will only lose their challenge if
the umpire's call is confirmed. Only the batter picture catcher
can challenge a call. The player will tip their cap
helmet to the umpire or they'll tip their cat or helm,
cap or helmet to the umpire to signal what they

(02:25:34):
want to challenge. There will be no additional challenges in
extra innings, and a hawkeye view will be showed during
the review.

Speaker 2 (02:25:40):
Okay, so here's the deal. Hawkeye view meaning above above, Yeah,
is do you think major league umpires like this? And
you're gonna say, well, no, they're taking away their to No,
they'll stand behind there. They're still getting their jobs. The
question is do they like it? Is their ego effected enough?
Are they like? Thank goodness? Now I don't have to
argue with the the manager come out of the dugout

(02:26:01):
because I missed the ball and strike. I don't have
to go through all that. Or do you think they
kind of like that chaos? One is that it's it's
it's they are. It is a demotion. Yeah, they're saying
you missed too many. They're questioning, but your standard backs there? Yeah?
But does it give you that I'm still getting paid
my same money. I don't have to call ball and strikes.
I don't have to deal with the Scott Services or

(02:26:22):
the old school Bobby Coxes who are going to come
out and get ejected once every fire, or Aaron Boons Right,
although I still love it, does it make it a
kinder Jentler relationship with the head with the homeplate umpire?
It takes stress off them. Do you think they like it?
Or do you think they like to dig in there,
grind and can't wait to argue back with a with
a Now, cowboy Joe Rady, I'll fight with argue.

Speaker 5 (02:26:43):
Right, what's angel Hernandez?

Speaker 2 (02:26:45):
There you go I'm going to think that it makes
the umpire like I don't have to deal with the
I think, not on me anymore. Yeah, I would think
the competitive ones kind of like I was going to say,
I think I think it's half and half half of
the with big egos, and this is my call.

Speaker 4 (02:27:02):
Yeah, make it about me, me me. I think they're
gonna be upset about this.

Speaker 2 (02:27:05):
I do.

Speaker 4 (02:27:05):
I think others are gonna be like, oh good, we're
gonna get it right. Sometimes I screw up. I'm human, So.

Speaker 2 (02:27:11):
Probably the right way to approach it. But the majority
would say because basically Major League Baseball is saying we're
missing too many.

Speaker 5 (02:27:16):
Yeah, that's what this is. Yeah yeah, And then.

Speaker 2 (02:27:19):
Pitchers are gonna love it, and in truth, hitters probably
aren't because you take away that guy that fine toothigh,
that the guy who can take a pitch on the
black that's a strike and they call the ball. I
would think that pictures that hitters aren't gonna like it.
But then there's the other side where an umpire is
giving you six inches of leeway on the outer part
of the plate and they're calling strikes and the hitters

(02:27:40):
like that wasn't even close. Yeah, I would think that
more pitchers are disdained than hitters. Would you overpitches? What
would you think they miss more on the good side
for batters are on the good side for pictures, what
do you think more? There's gotta be a stat out there.

Speaker 5 (02:27:53):
I think I think they miss is a strike?

Speaker 2 (02:27:57):
Do they call more balls than strikes when it's close
or the other opposite? Or does it depend on the hitter,
Like if it was Tony glen Man.

Speaker 4 (02:28:03):
I saw some calls last year that were just absolutely agreeable.
We're close, balls off the plate, three balls off the plate,
up in the zone. I would think the picture the
pitcher gets better calls, I think than the hitter with.

Speaker 2 (02:28:14):
With the human air. Yes, okay, so then the hitter
is gonna love it more. Think I think the hitter
will like this because you can't miss it if he
takes the good eyed hitters going to say I laid
off that it's a ball. I'm walking Alex Bregman when
he seah fair enough.

Speaker 5 (02:28:30):
That's what I think. Man last year, I remember.

Speaker 2 (02:28:32):
It feels like it feels to me like they call
strikes that are balls more often. Yes, that's what I think.
I mean.

Speaker 4 (02:28:37):
There was some umpires last year that were the outer
half right with the outer half three balls off the plate. Yeah,
come on, man.

Speaker 2 (02:28:45):
The two misses are usually for me down in the
strikes one in a way in a way that they
call strikes that were balls.

Speaker 4 (02:28:51):
Yes, I agree with that. This system was used in
minor league baseball. Last year, calls challenged by the players
were overturned fifty one percent of the time.

Speaker 2 (02:29:02):
That's too off that that's better than half. You get
elected president by that, yeah, man, So yeah, that's why
they're doing this.

Speaker 4 (02:29:07):
Yeah, So it's it's it's proven to work down in
minor league baseball. Now they're also going to have you
get a strike zone width which is seventeen inches. The
plate is seventeen inches, so it is going to be
across the plate top and bottom fifty three point five
percent height, twenty seven percent down at the bottom, and
then strike zone depth is going to be eight and

(02:29:29):
a half inches from top to bottom. So those are
your parameters for this strike at automatic ball and strike
challenge system during spring training game.

Speaker 5 (02:29:40):
So i'll be interesting man to see.

Speaker 4 (02:29:43):
And then of course, like you'll see it up on
the video boards with that hawkeye view. So people in
the stands will be able to see what it looks
like as well.

Speaker 2 (02:29:49):
The first sign of getting something changed is doing it
in the preseason or in spring training. That's the first sign,
because what happens is you get a hint of that
and guess what. They rarely go back, right, you know
what I'm saying. Yeah, Hey, let's check out these big bases.
Guess what we got big basis. There you go, and
if they get if they if they have the success
they handed did they they used to. Guess what's gonna happen?
It'll be implemented before you know it.

Speaker 4 (02:30:11):
Yeah, yep, it sure will. That's gonna start in spring
training again. I believe there's a spring training game today.
If if I'm not mistake, I think the Cubs are playing.
Let's take a look real quick before we get to break. Yep,
it is the Cubs and Dodgers two O five Today.
Spring training is officially underway with games Cubs Dodgers. All right,

(02:30:32):
let's get to the final segment. Uh next right here.
On a Thursday edition of the Sean Salisbury Show, MLB
Network released their top ten managers in Major League Baseball?

Speaker 5 (02:30:47):
Where is Joe Aspata next?

Speaker 1 (02:30:51):
This is the Sean Salisbury show? Salutiful?

Speaker 5 (02:30:58):
Where's this guy? Ben Shawn?

Speaker 2 (02:30:59):
Where's where is? Let's close to add I'm dying? What's yo?

Speaker 7 (02:31:09):
Damn?

Speaker 9 (02:31:10):
Brian sounds like my smoke going through the phone is man?

Speaker 5 (02:31:14):
Oh my goodness, So I.

Speaker 10 (02:31:16):
Called to talk about all this talk about al Toba.

Speaker 2 (02:31:19):
Yeah yeah, l two bail too.

Speaker 14 (02:31:22):
That.

Speaker 10 (02:31:23):
My problem is is nobody's asked a question.

Speaker 1 (02:31:25):
What if he gets hurt in the outfield, then what
do we do?

Speaker 2 (02:31:30):
Well? That's my only question. I got one idea, adrid
put your head between your legs and kiss your asking
by exactly. Let's hope not. Let's hope not, because.

Speaker 10 (02:31:41):
I man, I got them winning eighty nine eighty six
games this year.

Speaker 2 (02:31:47):
They're not going to win this division.

Speaker 10 (02:31:49):
This outfield, this outfield is no better than Brian's kids,
and I think Brian's kids are better.

Speaker 5 (02:31:55):
Hey say it again.

Speaker 2 (02:31:56):
Let's allow people to great teaching story. Cots in the
bag here, Hey Adrian, real quick though, if you get
to eighty nine wins you got them winn an eighty
between eighty six and eight. Ie get to eighty nine.
Does eighty nine win the division? No?

Speaker 15 (02:32:09):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:32:10):
You think is? Do you think to say it in
the nineties. Huh low nineties.

Speaker 10 (02:32:13):
I hate to say the team up north is gonna
press ninety four ninety five wins with that lineup.

Speaker 2 (02:32:18):
Now further north on the West coast, or further north
in this state.

Speaker 1 (02:32:23):
Further north in this state.

Speaker 2 (02:32:24):
And that's what has me upset.

Speaker 10 (02:32:27):
That is crazy them winning this division because this team
doesn't want to help itself.

Speaker 2 (02:32:36):
But we'll see fellas.

Speaker 10 (02:32:38):
And of course, hey, America wasting money at the super
Bowl and driving around NASCAR track?

Speaker 3 (02:32:44):
Is it wasteful government spending?

Speaker 4 (02:32:46):
Peace appreciation, appreciate. Adrian Hey spot on Major League Baseball
MLB dot com and at work put out a top
ten list current managers in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 5 (02:33:05):
Can you guess who.

Speaker 2 (02:33:05):
Number one is? It should be Bruce Bochi.

Speaker 5 (02:33:08):
Bruce Bochi is number two.

Speaker 2 (02:33:10):
They probably put aj Hinch close by A. J.

Speaker 5 (02:33:12):
Hinch is number one, Mike Shildt number three.

Speaker 2 (02:33:16):
At Arizona San Diego, I mean San Diego because Lavulo
is in UH in Arizona r saying he went to
San Diego. He was in Saint Louis, did a great job,
moved on to UH. Wasn't shilt in Saint Louis at
one point. Yeah, yeah, and then uh, San Diego and
don It did a hell of a job last.

Speaker 4 (02:33:34):
Year, Alex Core number four, Kevin Cash number five, Mmmm,
not sure about that one. Number six is Brian Snicker
for Atlanta. Number seven, Rob Thompson Philly, Philly, Number eight,
Dave Martinez for Washa, what Washington?

Speaker 2 (02:33:51):
Huh?

Speaker 4 (02:33:52):
Number nine Dave Roberts and number ten Tory Levolo.

Speaker 2 (02:33:57):
I'm I would, uh, I would. I would argue the
first two, not that they don't belong there. I think
it's Bruce Bochi and I think there's a gap between
the first and the second one. And then I think
the bigger arguments between two and three than two and one,
and I in my category, Bochie's the best manager in baseball.

(02:34:20):
And then the aj Hinch who was third, Mike Shilt, Shilt,
the Snitker that the argument. To me, the argument is
aj Hinch and who's you know that two, three and
four hole? You can whoever you're mount rushmore of current
coaches is or managers. For me, Bruce Bochie's proven he's
the best manager in baseball.

Speaker 5 (02:34:39):
Yeah, I think, uh, I'd take him first.

Speaker 4 (02:34:41):
I think Bruce Bochie, aj Hinch Alex Cora. I think
those are your top three. For me, Alex scores really good,
whether you like him or not. Big part of the
cheating scandal down here with the trash cans all that stuff.
I think Rob Thompson is also a fantastic Brian snicker
as well.

Speaker 5 (02:34:56):
I mean the guys on to Thompson so understated.

Speaker 4 (02:34:59):
Yeah, but I for me, Dave Martinez and Kevin Cash
are not top ten managers right now. That's just me.
They're good managers, don't get me wrong. It's why they're
in the major leagues. But no, they're not in top ten.

Speaker 2 (02:35:11):
Yeah, I'm you know. I think Tory Lavolo has done
a really good job in Arizona. Yeah, you know, with
different rosters and such, and that the top three or four,
I understand how you can move them around. I just
seen Bouchie sustained success and then to walk right off
of retirement couch and take your team and win a

(02:35:33):
World Series. Ye yeah, yeah. And aj Hinch is obviously
one of the best in the business and will continue
to be. And the reason Dave Martinez is so low
is because the team's so stacked. Everybody thinks anybody can
managine But The truth is, you got to manage. When
you manage that many egos, you got to make some
real good decisions. So he probably deserves a little more credit,
And he deserves more credit now because they finally validated

(02:35:55):
they were supposed to win it and did. Yeah, so
give him credit. But he's not the top five. I
don't have problem with the top two or three or four.
But I can tell you this, for me, I would
be flip flopping one and two.

Speaker 4 (02:36:05):
So what does it take for Joe Spotted to make
it up to the top ten times?

Speaker 2 (02:36:10):
Time and success, a few more division wins, have yourself
a possibility or in a world series, and just time.
I don't think you know, it wouldn't be fair to
put him in as a top manager in his second
year anyway, It's more fair to leave him out because
he's not there yet. But time and doing what and
and and keep winning. That's it's what it takes a j.
Hinch's first time around. Yeah, he I mean, he was

(02:36:32):
run out of Arizona and so and now look at him.
He's got Detroit as a contender and and they came
in here and took care of this business. Yeah, so
he's really good in Bochi needs no explanation. Yeah, I
think that's pretty obvious.

Speaker 4 (02:36:44):
Yeah, he's a class man. And one thing before we
get out of here. You remember Hunter Pence, Yes, I do.
His nephew, loved, loved Hunter Pences. He has a lot
of energy, energy player, his nephew, Striker Pence. Yeah, he's
a twenty twenty eight graduate. He's a freshman in high school.
I've seen the kid play. So I coach my high

(02:37:04):
school guys. They are twenty twenty eight. So I'll be
battling against this kid for the next three years. Performed
in his first varsity appearance last night out in California.

Speaker 5 (02:37:13):
He hit ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (02:37:15):
He's fifteen years old. What part of California is he?
Where's he? Is? He an Orange County guy?

Speaker 5 (02:37:21):
He where's he go to high school? Corona, California.

Speaker 2 (02:37:23):
Yeah, he's right there, he's the Corona is a little
bit inland, the Inland Empire off Orange County area in Corona, California.
So uh, that's that's ramping it up ninety seven at fifteen.
Come on now, son, I told you that guy my
quarterback to keep an eye on the eighth grader, Untilly

(02:37:44):
seventh eighth grader. You know my guy that I told
you about, Yeah, talent huh, Yeah, he plays baseball as well. Yeah,
guess what put the calendar on about November? And to
have him stare right around ninety miles an hour, it's
gonna be fun to watch. Wow. But yeah, that's ninety
seven as a freshman on the varsity. Yes, and he's

(02:38:04):
probably your ace. He's got to be if he already
pitched it. Yeah. Yeah, he's got himself as a young
and who's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (02:38:10):
Yeah he's uh, right handed pitcher. He swings it left handed,
so he's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:38:15):
Man.

Speaker 5 (02:38:15):
And here we go and you see him walking down
the street. You would never know it. He's as goofy
as Hunter.

Speaker 2 (02:38:19):
Yeah. Well but damn he can throw it. Goofy. Still
you're goofy. Get throw in ninety seven. That makes you
even better. I like it. Goofy with ninety seven buddy
as a freshman. Yeah, that's sick. That's disgusting, dude. What
are we feeding these kids these days? Huh? Whatever it is,
keep feeding them jar and barbecue. Well that'll that'll, that'll

(02:38:41):
nourish him, nourish and strengthen that body.

Speaker 4 (02:38:43):
Man exactly what news for you exactly. That's gonna do it.
You guys are ready for a funky Friday tomorrow? Yeah Yeah,
I can't wait man. He and Sean Salisbury Triple Lee.
