Speaker 1 (00:00):
You mentioned this last night on Twitter, and I don't
think that there's any doubt that we need to address
this because especially with the news that we found out
twofold yesterday, when it comes to the Astros with a
couple of different guys, first with Renel Blanco. So we
had the conversation with Dana Brown, Astros GM who joins
us every single week nine to thirty, and we wrapped

(00:21):
it up probably about nine to fifty. Well, yesterday, just
after ten to twenty, a press release comes out for
the Astros right hand to pitchure. Renel Blanco going to
undergo right elbow surgery next week, going to sideline him
for the remainder of the twenty twenty five season. He's
anticipated to return during the twenty twenty sixth season. I
bring that up because here was Dana Brown with us

(00:41):
yesterday when you asked him about Renel Blanco.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, Blanco had his second opinion, and we're going to
talk to the doctor at some point this afternoon, but
he had the second opinion and we'll have an update
probably at the end of the game today since we
have a day game.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
All right, So a couple of things right there, Sean
that I think we can obviously disagree with number one.
I mentioned that we wrapped it up at about nine
to fifty, and then just after ten twenty we get
that release that comes out, and I find it pretty
hard to believe that the afternoon came in those forty minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I said, I guess the afternoon. That would make it
about three point thirty or so four o'clock after the game.
Right now, you would think yesterday, Yeah, Dana's been great
to us, Love Dana, But I can tell you that
it's not above christ. One of two things happened. If
it happens within an hour after the show, either you
are not in the loop and this decision was made

(01:41):
without you, or he basically ron aid in the face
and told us it was raining. Because what I gathered
from that is that that basically that the Houston astros
knew before our interview yesterday, or coming right out of it,
the Renelle Blanco or been coming into it was done

(02:02):
that the second opinion was they were told on a
second opinion, he needs to be shelved for the year.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
He's gonna get Tommy John.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
And then, like you said, I didn't pay attention to
the time stamp and I went back and looked at it,
because when I got off here, I had other stuff
to do that that ain't the afternoon, and that isn't
after the game. If you know, tell us. I understand
the fans disdain about Andrew. This, this has happened before,
no problem. I mean, I know what happens. You're protecting

(02:33):
your team and the rest of it. But what's the
secret when you know forty minutes later you got to
I mean, is there a certain protocol you got to
wait so certain people are sitting in a room to
hear the press conference or the announcement when you know
we're going to find out in an hour. And you're
a regular here weekly, I don't think, not that you

(02:56):
need to break stories here. I don't care, but you know,
wait till four o'clock if that's what you're gonna tell us.
But in my opinion, you can't say yep, we're gonna
wait till after the game and within an hour after
a show, I you've been asked the question specifically about
that player. I can only deduct one or two things.
The general manager had no clue what was going on

(03:18):
with the injury, which I find hard to believe knowing
Dana's day to day hands on stuffed and the way
he follows and loves this team, or you just oh, well,
we can't announce now.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
And my question is why, Well, who needed to know first?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
If you had a chance, you're on here. It's damn
near ten o'clock. The difference team ten and ten forty five.
But what would would he have to get clearance from Clarence?
I don't understand. So to me, I actually think it's weak,
and I rarely say that about stuff that any they do,
not personal professional, But I know damn well when you're
specifically asked, and he said his second opinion, he knew

(03:59):
when he answered it one of two things. Either he's
out of the loop on the injuries, which as the GM.
That's hard for me to fath him because he's good. Secondly,
he knew and decided they were gonna wait. But that
to me, there's about a six hour time difference in that.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
We were told on here.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
But I assure you, and I'm making this promise to
you again, like I do every single week, I don't
do softball questions with with Dana Brown. He will if
you're done still out the next time this show airs
and he's on, he's gonna get the whole Segment's gonna
be why where, when, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Threshold of paint because they put it in his lap,
So I'm gonna find out. So if you ever thought
that you wanted a soft interview, it ain't coming from me.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
I can sure as I'll tell you that. Ever. They
don't owe me anything.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
They don't know you anything other than the fact that
you know decid you'd come on and do it. But
the frustrating part about it, and you do get the
astros fans disdain you, wonder well, is it true?

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Is in it?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
My gut tells me this is my opinion. I'm sure
as hell entitled to it. When it comes to business and.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Your credibility in mind in the show and everybody else's.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
It does work like we do. When you ask a
question and you answer it. I can only deduct two things,
so you can't get mad at me for saying what
I want to say. Either you didn't know and you're
out of the loop, or you damn well knew. I
decided You're just going to wait another thirty minutes, and
I say for what ask a question, get an answer given.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
A lot of leeway. Man, we do.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
But I can tell you so anybody out there that
wants to know if there's everything and Dan one thing
I may not be good as much, but one thing
I know how to do is interview a guest.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
And I always have. I've been a good learner and listener.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
And they're not a person in our building or in
their building that's going to prevent me from peppering with
the right questions every single week. Every every week it
will be a deep dive. And sometimes when a can
of worms open up.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
And now now the.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Deep dive is going to be I need an extra
hour of fresh air to dive, to dive way down
into that ocean to get the answers I'm looking for.
And I assure you I'm gonna get them one way
or the other. And if we don't, I'm gonna tell
you what. It'll be an exhausting fifteen minutes. I promise
you that. So yeah, I mean it's fine. And so
I can only deduct two things in my journalism career

(06:26):
and broadcast career and entertainment career that when you tell
me that forty minutes later, you either knew and didn't
want to answer it, or you're GM and you're out
of the loop, or somebody's tapped and don't talk about it,
don't talk about and whatever the three is, I don't care.
It will not prevent me from peppering questions. So please

(06:48):
let your non get back healthy between now and the
next time I do an interview on Wednesday at nine thirty.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Well, and that's not the only thing too that we
covered with Dana Brown yesterday, because we also found something
else else after our conversation. You asked him about Spencer Raghetty.
This was the answer we got.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
I think he's gonna get the uh you know, the
cast off sometimes here soon, and he's gonna start a
throwing programs. You know. I think he's gonna be fine.
You know, he's right there at the brink of of
of of tautin. So once he gets through that, we're
gonna where to go and get him stretched out and

(07:26):
and let him start to throw. So I think he's
probably within a week of getting it off.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Sean he yesterday, No, he threw on Tuesday. He played
catch on Tuesday. He addressed the media about it yesterday.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
So he played catch in private. On Tuesday, m H
addressed the media value Well, I'm out of town, so
I didn't see his address to the media. So there
it is. I can tell you what I'm not. I'm
not a sounding board, and I promise you that so
love him, always do. We'll always support. But if they
don't like tough questions, I'm the wrong guy. Okay, I

(08:03):
could assure you I'm the wrong guy. So yeah, it's
I don't even know how to I'm not even sure
how to take it. Dan, to be honest with you,
I'm not I'm not real sure how to take it.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Although my disdain.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
So the next time you tell me about an injury,
I'm just gonna freaking say you're lying to me.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Whoever it is. That that's what I guess.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I got a deduct or that when you're tell me
one thing that i'll either know that. So so how
I mean we went from we'll know in the late
afternoon to the guy's done for the year and we'll
know what he gets his cast off.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
That the guy already.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Threw and his cast was already off, and nobody knew
and happened the day before. Huh, okay, all right, never personal,
always business.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
But guess what.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Guess what my job is as the host of this
show when the interview is to find answers and to
ask answers that unfortunately for the fans, they don't get asked.
And at times I thought maybe the fans are a
little too harsh on this because of the secretive or
the but you know what, they're not have every right
to be that frush at especially oh Man, every gut

(09:14):
he's gonna throw tomorrow, Well it happened twenty four hours ago,
oh Man, Blanco, We're gonna find out this afternoon, later
this afternoon what the answer is. Within an hour you get, oh,
he's got Tommy John. So yeah, you know what, sometimes
you got to go through these things to do it.
Better do your homework because I'm coming. Just you know,

(09:36):
when he says, hey, we're coming, I mean and I
love him. We're going to bring it. Well guess what
I'm bringing it too, just like I do every week.
So there will be no soft selling injuries or okay,
they until I'm satisfied and you're satisfied, I'm just gonna
keep at it. If that means that it's a fifteen
minute injury interview for answers. That's exactly what I'm going

(09:59):
to do because that that's my job and that's what
I get paid. And if somebody tasked me on the
should says you can't ask him anymore, then then then
then we'll have to adjust that because guess what I'm
gonna say, Then we should, we should, we would. Then
that's an interview I shouldn't be doing because I got
a responsibility and I'm not gonna and I won't be
that guy, I promise you. So there you go, needless

(10:20):
to say you lost Blanco Arragett. He's a day ahead
of schedule, Just so you guys know, he's a day
ahead of schedule. It was Tuesday instead of Wednesday. And
Lance mccullors looked good last night. And if you, if you,
if you want answers, you're you're in the right place
because I promise you I'll get.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Them one way or the other.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Well, I mean it's something too that we owe to
our audience. I mean, this is a fan base that
has stood with this team for a really long time,
especially after twenty seventeen. And I mean I paired exactly
what you said about the one of two things either
we were intentionally misled or he just didn't know. And
that's second part is one that I shut her to
think because I can't have the GM of the team

(10:59):
not knowing what's happening with his team.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Well, if he's out of a loop on injuries like that,
disastros team's in trouble as a GI, I can tell.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
So I'm just asking.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Somebody telling me what else that we're supposed to deduct
from it either doesn't know it, has a zero idea
what's going on in the injury world, or just decided
to take the trail somewhere else. And then forty five
I don't even know when the answer, but I can
tell you this. We asked get answers and we will
continue to do it. And you know, on Wednesdays at

(11:33):
nine thirty or anybody else that comes on here, they're
not getting off the air without getting tempered proper questions.
If you want softballs, I go a couple of TV
shows you can tune into where guys make a lot
of money. They wouldn't know how to interview their way
out of a wet ass paper bag or paper towel
for that matter. So you can find those guys on
this show. On this show, regardless of anybody else, is

(11:56):
disdained for the tough questions that are asked. I don't care.
They will get asked. They will continue to get asked,
and it'll never be personal. It'll be baseball related as always,
and you know, maybe maybe next time we'll get a
little bit better time stamp on it.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Well, here's hoping for that. But yeah, those were a
couple of things. And Sean, I mean, I don't go
back and delete tweets, but you know that I transcribe
whenever you're talking. I went back and deleted those because
it's it's an insult to our audience to keep those
out there, and when clearly it's just not factual news.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
So if it.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Was me, I wouldn't have I wouldn't have deleted them.
It's not a matter of fact. It's there in quotes.
That's not on you. They get asked the questions pretty simple,
what's the what's the prognosis for Renel Blanco?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
You get the answer. That's not on you to delete them.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
If the fans got a problem with the answer, let
the fans decipher what their problem is with it. It's
our job it's not your job to decipher what they're thinking.
Sure you put the quote in, leave it up. That's
not on you. Here's what was said on a live
radio show. What tape, there's no doubt. Here's what was said.
Now you go and do whatever you want as a fan,
deducting it from whoever it is. I don't care if

(13:17):
it's football, basketball, baseball, player, coach, manage, it doesn't matter. Owner,
don't care. They're all gonna get asked tough questions. Don't
care what they make or what they do or what
their title is. Could care less. They're gonna get asked questions.
And when they put their answer there and it's in quotes,
you don't know what to anybody to delete it.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
So you look right, or we look right. The fact
of matters.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
It was asked, it was answered, and the answer was
far away different than what the result was.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Period.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
That's called accountability. Brother, Yeah, that's what that's called. And
it sits. So next time you get quotes, don't erase them.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Don't erase them.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Let everybody else deduct what they wanted, deduct from the answers.
It's not our job to erase somebody else's that came
out of somebody else's mouth.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
It ain't your job to do that.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
It's their job to deduct what they want as long
as the quote's accurate.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
It ain't on you, my friend, next time you leave it.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Yeah, fair enough, no no doubt about it, and it's
something that we can continue to talk about all throughout
the show. But also too, there are positives when it
comes to the astros, and we will discuss some of
those here as we continue along on the Sean Salisbury
