Saulsbury, Albury, Salisbury, Houston. Okay, let's do this Sewn Salisbury.
Wait if the reporter out there, you see John Longside friend shown Salisbury,
Bryan la Lima go logo, canstop the dig to the shame,
take chop down, come turn away. This is the Shawn Salisbury Show Monday
(00:37):
morning here on the Seawan Salisbury Show. Welcome in. You're listening to the
Sports Talk seven and you can alsolet's go us on the free iHeartRadio app.
Shawn Salisbury, Brian Lima, EmmanuelElmore. Triple E. Texans win
again. They beat the Cardinals twentyone sixteen. C J. Stroud throws
(00:58):
for over three hundred yards again threepicks. We're gonna talk about him all
morning long. Got some good gamesover the weekend in college football. Jordan
Travis for Florida State breaks his leg. What's that going to do for the
college football playoff? And don't looknow, but the uh Denver Broncos keep
winning. Sean tripley. Good morning, Texans get the dub morning. Yeah
(01:23):
they did. Man, it wasit's uh you know what, it's what
it says. And it was afun weekend and we're starting to wind down,
and this college football playoff's gonna getpretty interesting too. In a bummer
for Jordan Travis, who's had sucha good season. I hate seeing that,
man, I just do. Butthe Texans, you know, you
know, when watching that game yesterday, normally at this time of year,
(01:47):
we've all checked out on the taatecycle. Okay, what's what We're already
talk about next year's draft, right, and significance of football almost in December.
We had hoped that they'd be inthe hunt in December. Well they're
not only in the hunt. Theywin next week, it's tide first place,
and they'll have the advantage. Theywill be in sole possession of first
place because they will have beat themtwice, not only in the division,
(02:08):
but head to head. Yeah, and Jacksonville did what Jacksonville does play play,
get their butts beat by a betterteam the forty nine ers one week,
and then turn around and come backand play like their super Bowl team.
The question I have for them isare they when are they going to
sustain this where it's like five, six, seven, eight in a row.
Hopefully hopefully it doesn't start two ina row next week. But with
(02:30):
the Texans, I think The thingthat sticks out to me. They would
have never since I've been in thistown the last decade, would have never
overcome three quarterback turnovers in won agame. Never, They would not have
done it. They would have founda way to lose. That has been
(02:50):
the move. I don't care Watsonwas here. I don't care. It
doesn't matter. Now they've won divisions, but they in games like that.
Great teams still you can turn itover. It's hard to win any game
turnover three times at home or onthe road, no matter who you're playing.
But to be able to do thatthree win three and win a game
when the quarterback turns it over threetimes on a He's had a phenomenal season,
(03:14):
you know. And it's crazy. The guy has a high percentage completion
those a couple of touchdowns, makesome unbelievable plays, throw three picks,
and we call what he had yesterdayhis worst game of the year, and
he still found a way to win. See, that's to me. The
drop shot he threw in the catchby Tank Dell on a move right and
then take a shot to the mouth. I just felt. I know this
(03:37):
is going to sound masochistic. Imean, it's just like what ye like
this punishment? I learned far moreabout him yesterday than I do when they
win by twenty And maybe that's youknow, like what are you talking about?
I just do, and I thinkyou do as a coach too,
(03:58):
because a different phases of the gamethis year of the season, in different
games, we have seen certain ebbsand flows that this pass team would have
never been able to overcome and wouldhave never would have played it so close
to the vest. Now it wasa good game, but they would have
played it so close to the vest, they would have put themselves in a
(04:19):
position to go three or four threeand outs and lose. I just I
learned a ton about the team yesterday. I thought I knew, But even
then, picks and the quarterbacks stillpoison enough to handle it and make some
throws. The defense, the backend made some incredible plays yesterday on batted
balls, I mean knocking balls downand Stingley's interception. They are flying around
(04:44):
hitting people. See yesterday while CJ. Stroud played well, I thought it
was some other guys that took careof their business yesterday to win a game.
And once again Noel Brown gets hurt. Somebody else got to step up,
and I am, and you andI both expected Dalton Schultz to be
have a really good season. WellI leading the team in catches. He's
doing exactly what we wanted after rememberthe slow start with it, get him
involved. I just I was soimpressed with yesterday because of how it went
(05:11):
down. That team last year, two years ago, four years ago would
have found a way to lose that, and that to me is and it
wasn't. In truth, we're finallywalking off a Sunday game saying they won
a game that we're not just likeSlobber and Oversea j Stroud even though I
had a good performance. Think aboutthis throw for three almost three forty and
(05:32):
complete what twenty seven to thirty seven? Twenty seven, thirty seven, three
and thirty six year olds touchdowo threepicks correct? Think about this sacked three
times? We consider that a badgame? We we do. We'd consider
that a bad game for him tengames into his rookie year and still overcome
(05:53):
and find a way to get itdone. I just this team is really
frigging When I say, really, they're not a great team, they're still
learning, but they're really frigging goodand there's a different approach to play in
football. They're finishing as opposed togiving me fifty eight minutes or fifty six
minutes football fifty five. I wasin winning. While there was some things
(06:15):
that went on. You say, this sets up for typical Texans, and
you know what, there was nothingtypical about it. This guy's making a
diving blot, you know, ona football. This guy's catching the ball
instead of Franz Stingley that had beenan easy ball to drop makes that play
the scramble by Oh that's right Stroud. No, he can't scramble like the
(06:40):
rest of them. Bought enough timeand the perfect drop shot throw to Tank
Dell for the touchdown. My concernwas, and it reared its head at
time just day, was Kyler Murray'sfeet breaking outside and they just you know,
they made him force him a littlelate and he was on some underthrow.
I just I was impressed. Andthe defense did a really nice job
(07:03):
of, like I said, onthe back end, of breaking things up
and getting some pressures, which wasnecessary. And we're coming out of a
game where you say, normally sayall the Texas won. Bryce Young must
have played great. Bryce Young.C J. Stroud must have played great,
and you know what, he didnot play great for him if that
was his first start as a rookie, know what, everybody said, Oh
(07:24):
we got something here. Even thoughhe turned it over. He'll protect it
now he's going to have to guardagainst the last two games. Now,
although they that's six turnovers, twofumbles, and four picks in two games.
Well, if we're get all thecompliments we give him and for being
aggressive and doing all the things hedoes, and that's okay, a little
(07:45):
late with a throw, I meanit's okay, yes, yes, for
red zone right, which is notnormally like him. But six turnovers and
two games as we start to creepto the end of the season, when
I say, you know, startto edge towards December and happen to win
to get in the players, You'renot gonna turn over three times next week
and win unless Trevor Lawrence matches yourturnovers. So six turnovers in two weeks
(08:05):
is unlike him. Hopefully he's gettingthat, but they've won them both.
And that's another thing. Three backto back weeks with turnovers three times against
two playoff teams. Well, wethought the Bengals there may not make it.
And now that Burrow is out,but Bengals and now this team turnover
six times on your quarterback alone andstill find ways to win. That's a
(08:28):
good thing because I don't think you'regoing to see much of that on a
regular basis from him. But yougo through those stints. It happened,
So this is not like this isthis isn't your your your five years ago,
two years ago, three years ago, last year. Find ways to
lose. And I love the aggressiveness. I would have called the first fourth
down when they got stuffed in thebackfield. You're like, oh, don't
(08:50):
let it be one of those days. They created a new line of scrimmas
and they ran right through you,and that play call was Yeah, I
would have put the ball in.I think it was too far a distance
to hand. I would have putthe ball on star out to talking about
the one of the pitch to theleft to the left side. Yeah,
And they had the quick penetration early. You're talking about the first quarter,
right, yeah, yeah, thefirst down two or whatever, right,
yeah, and they just well, you've got to be a little more stout
at the line of scripts. ButI probably it's easy to say if they
(09:13):
get it, we say, hada way to be physical. You got
to be a little I would Idon't like sideways plays on that type where
you give a guy a chance toscrape and go make a play where it
takes a little longer to develop.I want to get downhill and start playing.
But I would have put the ballstoutsend. That's neither here and over
there. You learn lessons, butthe fact that they're going for these things
and not playing it. Let's winnine to six, overcoming three times,
(09:37):
quarterback turnover six in two weeks andthey're two and zero with them. Imagine
if they if they don't turned overyesterday. Games not close games not close
because one, like you said, the red zone turnover, you're going down
there at least get points, right, and you didn't. So, yeah,
things are going to change with yourfeelings on the Texans if they already
have it. Yeah, I thinkthat's that's so when I was watching the
game on that fourth down call,I loved the actual sense of going for
(10:01):
it, but then the play call, I was like, oh no,
please, don't let this be likea indication of what today is going to
be like with it for these Texans. And yet they get stopped and you
could see how the game was going. And then when CJ started to throw
the red zone interception, I waslike, oh my gosh, we haven't
seen that from him yet this season. Usually really smart with the football.
(10:22):
Okay, how's he going to bounceback? And then there's a couple of
more picks. But man, Ithink the most oppressive part outside of Devon
Singletary running for another buck twelve TankDell with one hundred and forty nine yards
receiving, was the guys on defenseflying around. Blake Cashman Shawn nineteen total
tackles yesterday, thirteen of them solo. Isn't he leading the team in tackles?
(10:45):
Yeah, he's been playing out ofhis mind. And like I said,
they made some place timed it perfectlyplayed ball in the secondary, meaning
go up and attack the football andfind it. I just you know,
it's easy to go break one upsometimes and do it, but we had
to go up and catch and finish. I mean, I just I'm impressed
that they won without their star quarterbackplaying his best football. This team doesn't
(11:07):
do that, right, they dothis year? Right? It's really good
to see, right, Hey,don't look, I'm just saying Will Anderson
Junior got another sack. These twopicks were phenomenal. Watch this. Now,
go ahead and go make the playoffs. Tank Dell, C J.
Stroud, Will Anderson, Damiko Ryans. You know what could happen? Nick
(11:33):
Cassario could end up being the executiveof the year. Think about it?
Well, yeah, I mean takeDell's setting records, like, think about
it. I want to say hejust surpassed Andre Johnson as a rookie for
his catches or yards per game orwhatever it is. Let's just look at
the off season just for the hellof it. I'm just trying now.
I could give it to Howie Rosemanin Philadelphia every year because they're kicking out
(11:54):
right. Didn't they go get Singletaryin the offseason? They did? That's
correct. Didn't they went and gothim round? Yeah? Did didn't they
go get Dalton Chulton in the officers? They did? General manager most correct?
Correct with the head coach. Yes, didn't they go draft Strout?
They did move up to get Anderson. They did draft Tank Dell. Correct.
Let's just stop right there for onesecond. I mean, let's go
(12:15):
to to Robert Woods, who's avethey got Shaq Mason, who's been game
right. Okay, Jimmy they broughtin Jimmy Ward, So why can't this
team sweep them? Offensive Rookie ofthe Year, m VP, Coach of
the Year, and Executive the Year. Tell me who had right now,
considering where they were, where theyare, the impact of those names we
(12:37):
just gave you. You tell meright now, who's having a better executive
year. You can't unless you're unlessyou're the Eagles. But that's that's that's
expected going to win the division. That's because they're supposed to be there by
the way they were in the superBowl last year, right you had,
you had people in the NFL orthat cover this league that added Texans winning
(12:58):
four games this year five games?Tell me an executive, who's player Singletary's
the best running back they got rightnow? Dalton Schultz leads a team and
catches Robert Woods, great veteran givesPank Dell's that the best rookie wide receiver.
I mean, he may not bethe best, but he's playing like
the best. Stroud's in the MVPtalk is the offensive rookie of the year.
Will Anderson's playing great football. Pressureafter pressure and playing great in the
(13:18):
run game. So you tell mewho's had a better offseason as an executive.
Got to start when we're if we'regoing to criticize, got to have
the same energy for the compliments whenit happens, like him or not,
what that impacted all. Every oneof those guys is an impact player right
now, every single one of themin a huge way. And it doesn't
start Shack Mason, like you said, another one who's been been in there,
(13:39):
I mean doing doing the work thewhole season you talk about offensive line
has been that's been riddled with injuries. Shack Mason has been there every single
week. He hasn't he doesn't missgo there and get the ten or eleven
wins. You could see a BingoBengal Bonga. I'm talking about award afterward,
not that that matters the most, but you could. It could be.
It could be complimented with a greatseason and some individual awards. When
it's on. Let's hear from thehead coach of the Houston Texans to Miko
(14:03):
Rans What did he say after thewin yesterday? That's next on the Shawn
Salisbury Show. Let's just coach Olgersonright at the gold mine touchdown Cougar.
You've got the Shawn Salisbury Show onSports Talk seven nights. Yo, coopsh
(14:39):
Well we did Lidy, y'all lovewhen is Hot Tetherday City. Yeah,
broke out, got some momenties.I keep me a night. I created
history and name Mela hech o thisme and O file he called him chuck
it. Could they kick at thefight? This does that? I went
in like Nike. He got itall up. Card you that and the
buzzman and that's who willow time.I can't be so I've got to say
(15:01):
putting it up to John Brennan there, especially right Berni. So what we
maybe I keep so fast? Toomany named go to zep. Welcome back
to the Shawn Salisbury Show here onSports Talk seven ninety. Shawn Salisbury,
bron Lima, Manuel Elmore Rockets loseto the Lakers last night one o five,
one oh four. They played theWarriors tonight. It's an eight o'clock
(15:22):
launch pad right here on your homefor Rockets basketball Sportslock seveninety. It's a
nine pm tip off. Texans beatthe Carlinos twenty one sixteen. Oh Bron
Braun went haywire last night? Didthey? Yeah? Well put it on
them, man, you better itoff of Bron. Braun allegedly looked at
it just I didn't watch the game, but judging from the numbers he handed
(15:45):
out party hats last night, didhe thirty seven, six, eight and
three? Dude? Pretty impressive nightby Braun. Braun, He's a don't
forget man. He's a Lebron fan. Yes, why who? A lot
of people are. He's a greatplayer, legendary, great player. Probably
immerses himself into some stuff. Heprobably probably gets a little sensitive at times,
(16:06):
but he the one thing about himhe make it sensitive at rabbit ears,
but he makes you pay if yousay go ahead. Yeah, he's
pretty good. Is there a biggersimp in sports broadcasting and media than Dave
McManamon. Why are you on mis it? Mcmenimon? Mcmenimon? Yeah,
been doing it a long time whileyou down, I'm just being a
(16:29):
hater this morning. A Yeah,I am. That's a one hundred percent
when I'm doing Lebron's literally one ofthe greatest two players we've ever seen.
Well, yeah, he tough five. Yeah, his title. Lebron proceeds
to remind folks with thirty seven andwin. You know what, Dave?
Next time here, let let's bea little more cultured. You like you
guys are gonna like this one.How about just put Lebron stood on square
(16:51):
business? That's what you want? Why not? Well, well, why
are you hate what? I'm beinga hater? I know because against the
Rockets? I know. No,No, he could have done it against
the if he would have. Actually, you know what, I don't hate
Lebron James. I I hate Yeah, he Irri takes me that mouthpiece hanging
(17:15):
out of his mouth. Wait, who's Steph Curry? Oh yeah, so
you're down on Lebron. No,I'm not down on im. But what's
wrong with what Dave said? Oh? I just feel like he you wait
wait was it was that the headline? Yes, you don't write the headline?
Yeah he does? He doesn't,Yes, he does in most No,
dude, I'm just telling you.You talking abou. Oh yeah,
you're gonna In the journalism world, like, for instance, a newspaper headline
(17:38):
is not written by the guy whowrites the story. There's a person who
is a headline writer at your paper. Oh no, no, no,
I'm sorry. No, not theheadline literally in his in his body or
in his body of work. Yes, I was gonna say it's the headline.
That's something. No, no,no, not the headline. Yes.
And then also his title is LebronJames turns it up. Scores thirty
seven. Yeah, well at hisage, dude, thirty seven is a
(18:00):
big deal. Oh no, no, no question, be a hater.
Let's start, let's start again.I'm just kidding. Dude's been doing it
forever, so good for him againstand Lebron James been doing it forever.
Yes, they both have. Yeah, man, not a good uh.
I mean James Harden the other nightagainst the Rockets knock it down a late
(18:22):
jumper to put the Clippers ahead ofthe Rockets, and then last night stayed
in l A and they fall tothe uh Lakers on four. But still
they're good things to look at forfor that team. No doubt they're playing
there, They're still playing pretty yeah, no question. Team that's growing right
in front of our eyes, thatcontinues to play well. The Houston Texans.
(18:42):
Demico Ryans after the game in thelocker room with his guys, spoke
to the team. This is whatcoach Ryan's had to say, why can
we not have a heartbreaker? Hey? Love it man, love Hey.
Everything that could have went wrong rightthere, It doesn't matter. We found
a way to win. We founda way to win. That's what good
(19:03):
teams in his league do. Sure, right, we find a way to
win. It doesn't matter. Defensewady to stand up right, everything about
what we do. We have eachother back. Oh we got your bet
a right. Everybody fight for youuntil we play complementary football. This is
a family. We keep it tight. And that's Demigo Ryans and the Texans
(19:30):
after their win yesterday against the Cardinalsand here it is. Yeah, dream
shake reminded me of something I talkedabout in the first segment. Tank Dell
yesterday has set the single season franchiserecord for most touchdown receptions by a rookie
with six. He's got six touchdownsand ten games. Yeah, he'll probably
end up getting double digits by thetime the season's over. The way they
(19:52):
throw it in the involvement with him, Boy, is he a precise route
runner. My favorite thing about himthe touchdown at the end of the game
couple of weeks ago on the bankpost. The sail route be cut to
the sidelines and knew they had thewherewithal to drag his foot and get it
down. And then you know acouple of plays yesterday and the one in
the end zone where he goes upand gets it. That ball would easily
when it's that coming at you likethat, it's easy to to let that
(20:18):
ball slip through your hands. Youknow, he's really a different cat.
He is. He's a rookie,precise route runner, that's that doesn't run
routes like a rookie. But Ilove that he's a finisher and I'm seeing
more and more of that with alot of players on this team. Christian
Harris has hit too in the back? Did you what was it the hit
on? Was it Mayfield? Yeap? I mean they're they're flying around and
(20:41):
and Demiko just echoed what we said. This is over the course of seventeen
games, you're going to have towin when you're not playing your best.
You just have to. There's gonnabe two or three. You got to
find a way to get through it. It ain't gonna look pretty. You
watch the tape next day, whileit's bittersweet, you're gonna say, man,
(21:02):
we won that game, But Igot to Each individual will judge their
own performance, and I, youknow, got to play better. But
I think that team the accountability factorof even in a win, they'll judge
themselves harsh. And so I gotto play better, man, because you
probably won't be Jacksonville playing like thatwhen we turn it over like that.
Yeah, but it's not just CJ. He's been phenomenal this year. It's
the group and good teams when thatwhen that group's when that unit struggling,
(21:26):
somehow, some way, somebody gotto grab him by the back of the
jersey and say let's go. Youalmost got a horse collar him and say
let's go play some football men.And they elevated when their quarterback had still
a good day but a couple ofthrows that were you know, did he
either laid on or probably forced. But it's going to happen in this league.
But they still won. And lastyear they would not have won that
(21:47):
game. Yeah, they were not. That's this is something Well, honestly,
Jean, what's the last time youcould say that about this team to
where they go through adversity and findways to win. I even when the
even then when they were winning divisions, I this team here. I've been
here a decade in Houston. Ihaven't trusted that they're going to do that
on a regular basis since i've beenhere. I trust it now because you
(22:11):
know what, and when you talkabout this why. I was making a
comment before the game about c J. Stroud, like in the first quarter
of the way he started out playingand was hot again, and so he
said, yeah, well, we'renot playing a fourth place Somebody in Buffalo,
it was a good guyybody said yeah, we're not playing a fourth place
schedule. I said, yeah,it wouldn't matter. I said, the
guy's turned over. I said, this guy here is playing a lot better
than your guy there, and heis in Buffalo. So no apology needed.
(22:33):
But people are always going to makethat. The key is people are
going to make excuse all fourth tolook horrible division, or they're going to
make excuses. The key is it'sstill football, and if you aren't watching,
the Rams can beat the Seahawks. We see it every week. Somebody
come in there. I think Jacksonvilleexpected to give up thirty plus and get
their ass handed to him last weekand then roll right in this week and
do their thing the way they did. I mean, it's a crazy ass
(22:56):
league. But I can tell youthis that the text are doing what some
teams can't do. The Chargers findways to lose. Yeah, this team
finds ways to win. There's noway Brandon Staley keeps coaching the Chargers.
I said it last year towards theend of the season, like, there's
no way this dude keeps his job. Well, some guys in some serious
(23:18):
Stefanski in Cleveland because of the quarterbackchange and stuff, and they, I
mean, they win yesterday, bigwin against the Steelers. He's gonna keep
his gig. But there was timeswhen it goes up and down. But
you look around the league. Idon't know how. And it pains me
to say Washington lost to the Giants. I don't think that job gets kept
either. Yeah, sadly for mybutt, I do. I mean,
(23:40):
I love Ron, but I justI think it's gonna They're gonna move on
the Chargers regardless. There is nofrigging way that Brandon Stata can have this
team coaching right, coaching them intwenty twenty four. There's no way can't.
There'll be more in which you hateto say, I don't like coaches
losing their job, but it's partof the business. Chicago's probably going to
(24:02):
be the same way, although hungin there, but the reason they had
a chance to win and they allowedDetroit to come back and win that game.
So it's there'll be some of theChargers find ways to lose. The
Texans have found ways to win andthat's impressive. Yep. Let's continue to
talk about the East Houston Texans andtheir win over the Cardinals. C J.
Stroud had an interesting way to describehis confidence level even after throwing three
(24:22):
interceptions. That's next on Sports Talksevven ninety. Yeah, Trajan Wealth,

Oh? Not a lot, nota lot they didn't cover yesterday, but
(27:51):
that's all right. I took therockets at some points, so I got
the money on the back door yesterday. C J. Stroud. Before everybody
starts playing, and oh, hethrew three picks. He's getting bad.
Go back and watch. The onlybad throw he had was the first one.
That first pick was I don't knowwhat he was thinking, trying to
(28:11):
thread the needle. I guess becausehe had the same play last week in
Tampa Bay on the other sideline andthe same thing happened, So I guess
they're trying to work through that. The other two one off Noah Brown's hands,
and the other one the guy justmade a good play. So let's
not start with all that this morning. The thing, like Sean said,
(28:33):
is three turnovers and a win.Name the last time that's happened in Texans
history. And I'll buy you alolly pop myself. All right, fellas
gonna be a good week, havea good Thanksgiving. Everybody be safe,
peace, Thank you, Adrian,he's right, and Noel Brown was out.
Yes, that's right, the oneto hit off if the common thought
(28:56):
is but I get his point. The common thought is it really doesn't matter
whose fault it was. And Ithink that's what Adrian said. I mean,
if you want to start to beatC. J. Stroud down and
look at it the other way.Without his two touchdown passes and three hundred
plus yards and moving ball and thirddown and being accurate, they may not
have been in position in the lasthandful of years. They would not have
won the game. So I itwas impressive. And the normal thought of
(29:21):
pattern of thoughts. If it hitstwo hands, you're supposed to come down
with a catch. It picked Andnormally when the ball's up in the air
after it comes off somebody's hands,it usually ends up in a defensive hands
because they're facing you while the otherguys are running away right, and their
eyes are in, you know, into the backfield if it's zone coverage.
So I'm not overly worried about it. The six turnovers. He won't turn
(29:41):
it over six times in two gamesagain this year. He may turn it
over three times in a game atsome point, hopefully they'll find a way
to win. But he's been aphenomenal protecting the football. He's what now,
seventeen and five, yes, seventeenand five touchdowns the interceptions in a
really a hell of a season. But forget all the end of it.
(30:02):
I could care less about stats. The end result is somebody came into your
building. You took care of yourbusiness. Even though it was Arizona.
I don't care who it is.They're better now with Kyler Murray than they
have been, and the defense steppedup, made some great back end plays,
and the quarterback made enough throwers. But Singletary is adding a whole new
dimension with his downhill running. Andit started off with his first carry,
ran right into the back of alignment. Yeah, and so you're thinking,
(30:25):
man, and then, like Isaid, it's going to go on and
then. But his patience in thebackfield has allowed holes to open run them
by and reopen and to be ableto have that pregnant pause and then go
and then hit the ground running. He's doing some amazing things. And I
couldn't be more proud of this teambecause I like resilience and I like when
(30:45):
it somebody punches and you get thestanding eight count and you punch, you
pop up and still punch back. This sounds cheesy, but the championship team,
whether it's Philadelphia or whoever the lastyear, the Kansas City Chiefs,
at some point in time, you'regoing to face some crap on the field.
How you deal with it? Chargersdon't know how. Apparently Demico Ryans
football team seems like they do rightnow. Yeah, no question. Let's
(31:07):
get back out to the phone line. Seven one three Seven's go Andy,
Andy, Good morning Mary. Yeah, sign you're right, good good and
great teams win ugly games like that. But the first half was like an
eight plus as far as the offensegoes, it's just, you know,
I was just I told my guysat the pub, I said, keep
(31:30):
Murray under fifty yards and we'll winthis game. He had fifty one rushing
yards, so that was key forthem, not letting him get loose.
Because he can get loose real easy. And as far as the interception go,
we knew they were gonna come.I mean, it's just the nature
of the beast. But the bestthing about this is it's just gonna make
it work harder. He'll get inthe film room, he'll study more,
(31:53):
he'll work on it more on thefield, and he'll be better for it.
That's the resilience. You know whohe is, his character. So
no, no big issues with interceptions. You know, he made two real
bad decisions, and the one overthe middle when he hit him, I
forgot. I don't know if itwas Woods, but you know, he
(32:15):
threw it at his helmet and itwas, you know, a little bit
behind him. But I worked, like I said, I at worried about
it. He got to you gottaw That's all that matters. And there's
a huge game coming this Sunday.Thank you, Andy. Yeah, that
game against Jackson is gonna be bigtime. Uh. Get to Mike real
quick before we get to the break, Mike, what's up? Hey,
(32:35):
what's going on? Guys? Afew things on that fourth down call.
You know, I agree, Ididn't like to call, but I think
what he was trying to do.There is Mike Boone ran that ball and
he always comes in on pass bros. I think he was trying to get
cute with his package and just tryto try to catch a defense kind of
napping on that. Everybody talked aboutthat pick from Stingley, which was great,
but there was that that throw andI think he was like third down
(32:58):
later in the game when he wasright on that guy's back like White on
Rice. Then his his coverage wasgreat. And then the last thing about
Colin, even though that safety sunkback in that throwing Lan on that pick
in the end zone, like whenyou watch the replay, like he's six
' vive with like a thirty orforty inch vertical. If he would have
threw that ball like two feet higher, he could have got away with it.
So later in the game in thefourth quarter, CJ goes back to
(33:20):
him on like a skinny post orsomething, and he did just that.
He threw it up high. Andthat's that one when Collins really got stuck
by that safety coming in. ButI thought that was like they talk about
all the time, that he hedoesn't make the same mistake twice, and
I think he realized, hey,how tall and how big he is,
let me, let me throw itup to him. So I thought that
was cool. Thank you, Mike. Yeah. One thing that stuck out
(33:40):
to me too is his ball placementis so frigging elite most of the time.
Man the touchdown to Schultz, itwas Dalton Schultz, right, yeah,
yes, on the bender uh huh. He that ball was thrown first
of all into a gap that ifhe flattens him more ball, Schultz is
(34:00):
getting his ass knocked out. Thedifference between keeping him skinny and flattening him
is a difference in a chin shotwhere you're mouse bleeding or catch and get
down or catch and score. Andhe kept him skinny enough, And what
does that mean? Sean skinny skinnyin the hole means you know, we're
keeping him skinny to where we're notwhere it's a very think about your hallway
(34:22):
and a double hallway. We wantthat ball thrown in a single hallway and
I want a double white hallway. And he kept him skinny to prevent if
he flattens him two yards, it'san incompletion. Dalton Schultz is over there
getting ice on his chin and possiblya pick if the ball's up in the
air, but the ball was thrown. He protected the receiver, gave him
(34:43):
a chance to get the ball andcatch it, you know, waist high
and fall down in traffic between thehash marks, and to allow him to
make that catch. And then Idon't know what a defense is thinking when
you just jump over a guy andnot try to tap Himhen he catches him
all and he rolls in. Butthe perfect throw. We take these things.
We're starting to take these things forgranted because this guy's making throws in
windows that are I'm just telling you, guys, it's not normal. I
(35:06):
wish I could take people on thefield, one hundred people at a time
and walk through these things and showyou exactly what he's seeing. We're gonna
have cameras in here eventually. I'mgoing to show you when you talk about
those skinny throws, that wasn't byaccident. That he threw that ball there
down so he could protect him andhave it. I don't know if he
knew he was going to roll infor the score, slide in, but
(35:27):
it's those little things. A balloff the back shoulder, a ball to
the front shoulder. It's just theelite accuracy is at a different level for
a big time aggressive thrower, andhe will overcome these urnals. Think about
this. We are ten games in. He just got to his fifth pick,
and four of those have come intwo weeks. You just got to
(35:49):
slow down those bunches heading into July, I mean to December because it's going
to get the nut cut in time, and next week it starts. I
don't know how I'm not going tothat game, and I haven't been to
a game here a half and tenyears. I looked at tickets yesterday and
I was like, man, Ireally want to go to this game because
it's going to be a badass game. Let's keep talking about c J.
Stroud. He spoke about his confidencenot going away after some interceptions. What
(36:13):
did the quarterback have to say? That's next? On Sports Talk seven to
eighty the Houston Sports World. Yes, Sean Salisbury knows how to play the
game because he really played the game. Yeah, former pro QB right here.
He actually has it on his nametag former pro QB right here.
Back to Sean on Sports Talk sevenninety's what my thoughts in the night time
(36:45):
trap with them? Just like myintention colors, I'm just trying to get
it trying to diet. Rockets backin action tonight against the Warriors. Nine
pm is the tip off eight pmlaunch pad, so you can hear that
exclusively right here on your home forRockets Basketball Sports Talk. Seven ninety Texans
(37:09):
beat the Cardinals twenty one sixteen. This is the Shawn Salisbury Show, Sean
Bryan and Tripoli here with you.C J. Stroud talked about his confidence
even though he threw three picks. Is what the quarterback for the Texans had
to say. And Steph Craig don'tever stop shooting. I'm gonnakeep. I'm
keep laying the ride, you know. And I don't got no shame with
my game. I definitely gotta besmarter, but I don't like, I
(37:31):
don't know confidence is taken away fromme. I'm gonna keep letting the fly.
I mean, there's things where itcan go either way, you know.
And they got the better of metoday and that's just the NFL,
you know. So I'm blessed enoughto get up to come out here with
a dub and my confidence isn't goingnowhere. I'm gonna keep shooting it.
I'm gonna keep letting it fly.And that's what I think, that's what
(37:52):
makes me great, is that thosethose times where you either get away with
it or you don't, or youmake the play you don't. I've been
blessed enough to have plays where nobodytalks about it because they don't make the
play. But this game, theymade the plays. And that's not gonna
skew my confidence one bit. AndI'm gonna keep being me. I think
I'm I'm very confident, not onlymyself, but how we're playing this offense
(38:15):
in the hole, and I'm notgonna let my emotions and things get in
front of that. And and thisis a football, man, this is
not uh tennis or anything like that. I'm out there with eleven guys,
and those guys always have been pickedme up and I appreciate that, you
know so. And I'm still learningas I'm going and I'm really blessed to
be able to do it with sucha special group of guys, you know
(38:37):
so, uh now, man,my confidence still there. I must keep
doing what I do. Steph Curry, don't ever stop shooting. I'm gonna
keep letting it fly. No shamein my games? Does c J.
Stroud put it on a billboard, build a statue. Show me a quarterback
that's ever been really good over thecourse of his career that doesn't have a
set meaning let him, just lethim, let's go. Yeah, I
(38:59):
mean, just in difficult times, have big stones, balls, ball stones,
uts, whatever they call it.Yeah, I don't know many Now,
there's a difference between being aggressive andgoing after it and protecting the ball.
You got to be able to doand he knows that being judicious and
where you throw it. But findme a quarterback who's afraid to pull the
trigger and gets gun shy because ofa few stupid interceptions. Once you want
(39:24):
is you want the guts of BrettFarv and the protection of the football like
Drew Brees. And when you combinethose two you get a hell of a
player. And the arm strength ofFarv's arm strength and the ball placement and
touch of Drew Brees, but theguts to be able to Farv's one of
the best. I've ever seen it. And Marino as well. Oh,
(39:44):
I threw four picks and it's themiddle of the third quarter. That's okay.
If that windows open, I'm gonnaI'll take the chance. It may
be a fifth but it also maybe a touchdown. So find me a
quarterback without guts, I'll show yousomebody who you want it, you're going
to need to move on from thatquarterback. That's not the case with this
guy. Yeah, no question.Devin Singletary, let's talk about him,
(40:06):
been the biggest When the season's over, if this continues and they win the
division, that will be the singlebiggest reason. The run threat and what
they're doing now, not just threat, but the production in the run game
will be the biggest reason. We'renot talking about enough that they win the
division. So they threw thirty eighttimes yesterday, they rushed twenty five,
(40:30):
twenty two of those carries coming fromDevin Singletary one hundred and twelve yards,
averaging five point one yards to carrywith a touchdown. I already know what
I'm gonna get from certain parts ofthis team. I know who Stroud is
at this stage of the game.I know what Bobby slows up to,
and the way Demiko Ryans is runninghis team, and the way the defense
continues to elevate. But what wedidn't know is that could you do this
(40:52):
consistently without a run game? Andthey had zero run game. The first
eight games, for the most part, they really did. And now even
if he doesn't have one hundred yardgame, when you go into next week's
game, if you're Jacksonville, it'sno longer just Stroud. Now if the
guy had twelve carries and just madea seventy yard run on one of them,
(41:15):
an average two yards to carry therest, different story. He's grinding
out between the tackles, he's hittingthe whole patient. Now you're gonna prepare
and put your game plan in fornext week. Jacksonville, this different story.
Now you don't just have to stopseven. You better there's a lot
of the things you're gonna have todo if they go on and win this
division. The thing that not enoughpeople will be talking about, but will
(41:37):
at the end of the season whenthey go back and look, what was
the complete turnaround that got you guysgoing on this run, They're going to
point to the run game at thetop of that list. Last two weeks
for Devin Singletary against the Bengals, thirty carries, one hundred and fifty yards
and a touchdown. Against the Cardinalsthis past Sunday, twenty two carries one
hundred and twelve yards and a touchdownin both games. Over the last two
(41:59):
weeks, he's average over five yardsof carry. I mean, man,
the yards per attempt throwing it andthe yards per carry running it are two
really telling stats, really telling stats. A lot to talk about this next
week. Yeah, and I thinkwith what the way the play calling has
has been going is uh, it'sbeen complimentary over the last two weeks.
(42:23):
You can establish the pass or therun without forcing the pass or the run,
right, and that's what they've done. Yeah, let's keep talking Texans.
What's the one thing that we didn'treally notice over the course of four
quarters yesterday in that win. That'snext as we head into the seven o'clock

It's a nine o'clock tip off eightpm. The launch pad starts right
here on your home for Rockets,Basketball Sports Talks. Seven ninety. The
(45:30):
Texans beat the Cardinals twenty one sixteen. C J Strout throws for over three
hundred yards three interceptions, but theyfind a way to win. Devin Singletary
one hundred and twelve yards rushing witha touchdown, and Shawn the Texans,
for the first time in a very, very long time, faced some adversity
(45:54):
from their quarterback, but they founda way to win. I don't know
what's not to like about him.You want to play a perfect game,
I've never seen one played. There'ssomething that you say, Man, that's
about as close to, you know, perfection you can get. But there's
gonna be stuff to miss out ona regular basis. I mean, at
some point in time, it's hardto play a perfect game. But I
(46:15):
guarantee that's gonna be one of those, even though it was Arizona, that's
gonna be one of those major majorgo back to when the Seeds over.
If it ends the way they wantto regular season. They'll go back and
point to moments like yesterday that youdidn't have to rely on your quarterback to
make every play, and they didn't, and he did not make every play,
(46:36):
made a lot of them. Balldoesn't hit the ground much. It
don't make every one of them. But I can tell you this, they
make enough of them. And yesterdaydefense, you give up sixteen points.
In this league, if you don'twin, you're not very good. That's
reserved for like teams like the Jetswho can't score. Yeah, are the
Panthers right, they're not very good? Right, Zach Wilson got benched by
(46:59):
the Jet. Well, listen ZachWilson, like I was saying yesterday on
a show, a pre game show, he makes the ordinary stuff look so
hard to do. And then he'llmake a throw that's the extraordinary stuff,
and you say you're not supposed tomake that throw. He yanks it into
the ground three or four times ina game. He's never going to be
(47:20):
accurate. He's just not. He'sjust not. Just like I could say,
Stroud's never going Now. There maybe games, but over the course
of time, Stroud's going to bean accurate thrower and Zack Wilson's going to
make a spectacular play once in awhile, but he is not going to
be an accurate thrower. Some ofthose things he can't teach, you can
improve a little bit. For themost part, Zach Wilson's a big play,
big arm guy who's not long fora starting quarterback with the Jets in
(47:44):
this league. He's just not AndI missed on him a little bit.
I thought he'd be better. Idid his enormous talent, but he didn't
sustain it long at BYU. Butwhen he did, and I wasn't enamored
with the throw. I mean,it's nice to see a guy like in
this shorts and T shirt when hedid his pro workout. But watching him,
I thought, Okay, there's adifferent swagger about him, and he's
probably swagger filled enough to go intoNew York and deal with it. But
(48:05):
he just makes too many careless mistakes. And his biggest strength is arm.
Has been something that's got him intothe worst trouble because he tries to fit
it to places You can't fit it. You just can't fit it. You
can't fit a forty pounds stone intoa hole the size of your eye you
know what I'm saying, You justcan't do it. And he tries to,
(48:29):
and then he does not know howto make the ordinary play consistently.
And it sounds so simple and itis it's supposed to be, but he
makes it look hard. And withhere the guy put it this way.
Think about this now. CJ.Stroud will be more accurate from fifteen to
twenty five yards. Then Zach Wilsonwill be zero to ten. And that's
(48:51):
when you run into teams it justcan't. If I'm a defense on that
team, that locker room, you'relike enough, I've had it. Yeah,
I've friggin had it. And herethis locker room's responding with great play
on offense when necessary and great playon defense when you got to come up
with some stops. And they timedtheir defensive backfield yesterday with some great plays,
(49:13):
and they really did a good jobof sticking to their receivers on broken
plays that Kyler Murray could scramble fromand didn't give up three or four big
huge home run chunk plays via theair on a broken play, and they
made some great plays on deep ballsthat were thrown up that were fun to
watch. Yeah, defense was flyingaround. I can't remember the time I
anticipated a game from literally doing allthe stuff yesterday morning, getting up early.
(49:36):
I can't remember the last time Iwas excited for a game to start,
even though it was Arizona, itwas the Texans, not to watch
the other opponent. It was theTexans, and hell, there's a different
buzz for people they weren't even buzzingfor a football season. Yeah, yesterday,
I was coaching all day yesterday andwe had a break and it was
literally perfect because we didn't play untilfour o'clock, so I was able to
(49:58):
watch the game when we went toeat lunch. It was the probably the
first time in a long time whereI made sure that where we went,
or I asked where we were going, that there was going to be a
TV on with the Texans game, because I wanted to watch CJ. Stroud
in this offense and also on thedefense, but more so, I just
wanted to watch CJ. Stroud andhow he played. First time in a
long time, And I'm sure alot of Texans fans are in agreemance with
me. First time viewer, longtimewatcher, let's first time, no long
(50:23):
time viewer, first time excitement.Okay, fair enough in a long time.
There you go. Yeah, we'regonna ride with that, okayod C
D. Shroud was standing on business? What'd you do study something? The
kids are saying, again and again, you want to go to our resident
Tripoli, our residence streets insider arethey say? They are we standing on
business square business, business, bigbusiness. That's what the kids are saying.
(50:45):
That's our residence streets insider. Manny, screw the kids. I'm with
you. F them kids, man, those kids. Man, Yeah,
I'm with you. Yeah, man, let's go to my favorite silver the
week old man. You know,I want to hear people call him an
older matters. Yeah, so whenyou were born determines whether I laugh when
people say that, Oh thanks, young guy. Yeah, you're from the
(51:06):
dumbest generation the history has ever had. If there's opposed to some seventy five
year old that's out there, Ijust laughed, and I think, guess
what you can't control? Probably fortunatelyyou cannot. I love it. But
yeah, listen, dude, that'swhat the kids are saying. Screw the
kids. Right. If I didn'tget in trouble by the FCC, I
(51:28):
would drop an F bomb and themkids. Yeah, damn right. I
know you guys have seen Michael JordanMemeth them kids. Yeah, yeah,
man, he loved the kids.Yeah, my kids, my players,
the kids that I coached. Ilove my kids, my actual kids,
for the kids of them. It'sfor the kids. Well yeah, hell
you What I don't know yesterday wasgrowing adult football, though, was it?
(51:49):
Oh? Yeah, did you everplay in the league. A couple
of minutes you did? Yeah, okay, I know that. Yeah,
a couple of for a couple ofminutes. Just tenure count it's counting ten
years. A couple of minutes, not that bad. You drink a couple
of couple of cups of coffee?Oh no, a couple uh, a
couple of pots yeah, times onehundred of spindle tap maybe coffee, maybe
(52:12):
a couple of beers. Yeah.I didn't drink much when I played pro
sports. Really. Oh yeah,no, I mean there was a time
I go three or four years.I mean, just focus on it that
I didn't. Yeah, a coupleof perks, Uh no, I didn't
take that unless you were hurt comingoff and but unless you know, the
man had one sitting next to me, had a long flight home, Say
I mean you're coming onto the plane, big win. You and the boys
(52:34):
are rasing it up. You knowit were easy to grab ass. Man,
We don't play, man, Igot a poll for you. Come
grab this pole man. No,man, Yeah, yeah, here's a
tall bay. Don't she just comecopp a field? Right? No,
they're too busy playing guys and cardson the plane. Just guys being dudes
on the plane. Man, Yeah, well part of being a dunts and
(52:57):
cup checks. I don't know whatyou got, guys got going on in
the well? Do you do that? Do you do that when you play
baseball? Soul ro state guys justcome up and check your package? Absolutely
not? Okay? Then why thehell would they do it in our sport?
I guess I didn't make it tothe professional ranks, you did?
You know bros are on a differentlevel up there. You ever heard of
Dwight Howard? Read about lately? You think about feels on it just saying
do big wins? You know, big guys? You know, just guys
(53:17):
being so guys being dudes. Areback to business as usual. Grab your
beer and get your ass to sleepon the play trip home. If it's
a big win, you're playing cardsyou're laughing your joke and telling stories and
listening to what somebody did in theiroff season stupidity. So there you go.
Yeah, but we had cop andfeels with each other on the plane.
Oh man, you're taking money though, because fast pay makes fast friends
(53:39):
on the plane, do they?Oh yeah, you come either come with
ket don't give me the I'll getyou tomorrow at during film like I you're
gonna pop in there, pop inthere with cash, or don't or don't
play the card game. You knowwhat, you better come, you better
come correct. That's what I heard. Guy. There you go, That's
what I heard. You don't comecorrect? Keep it. Get to stepping?
(53:59):
Okay? Are we still saying thatget to stepping? Our kids?
Still? Let's go back to getto step? Hold on, let's go
back ock to the streets? Manny, are they still saying get stepping?
That's kind of an older term.Yeah, it is right, that's what
I say. It's kind of uh, they've kind of put that on the
It's kind of like the cabbage patch. Okay, we're not dancing the cabbage
(54:19):
patch anymore. Touchdown. So Ithink get to stepping is probably about what
is about six five six years, seven years outdated, maybe maybe even a
decade. Maybe people slide it in. It's it's all, it's over,
it's it's it's played out, isit though? Yeah? I think so,
even though some still use it.I think get to step in.
(54:42):
It's simpler to say just get yourass out of here. I think keep
it moving, keep it moving right, yeah, yeah, moving, move
around? Yeah, go practice fallingdown. I'll be there in a minute.
What's wrong with you? What?Man? Kids aren't saying that.
No, they're not. They're definitelynot. Kids aren't saying that. No,
damn. Well you know what thekids are saying. Texans are a
game away from first place, withthe first place on the line in about
(55:06):
six days. You ready. Thekids indeed are saying that you ready?
Yeah, I'm ready. I don'tthink you are, dude, What do
you mean, moment's too big foryou? Oh? Here we go,
Here we go. Well, thekids are saying that the steakout is his
next segment. Well the kids aresmart, are they are they? Well
we're about to find out. Let'shead to the steakout next right here on

(57:22):
He's pretty good, he's okay,and he'll do it a pitch. All
right, my steak out. Let'shead over to college football Cayleb Williams over
the weekend. Are you guys gonnacontinue to ride the Trojan pony? No?
I just I just this. Iknow called it a pony because we're
not winning instead of a horse horseright, Yeah, I just know how
You're gonna have some thoughts on thisone, so I want to hear it.
(57:43):
Cayleb Williams. Has they lost again? He has elected to not He
elected not to speak to the mediaafter the loss to UCLA. That's coming
from a USC spokesperson, Sean. This is the quarterback of the USC Trojans.
He is still most likely going togo number one in the draft.
(58:06):
If he ain't on one, heain't going third. I can tell you
that he is the leader of theteam. Some are questioning that because of
his approach and he elected not tospeak to the media. Am I making
him I'm making it a big deal. It's probably not that big a deal.
It's not going to be that biga deal. I don't think the
NFL team that drafts The'm gonna sayyou didn't speak to the media after UCLA
(58:28):
game. I can't pick y'all pickyou twenty eighth. That's not going to
be the case. Talent will alwayswent out in these case, and it
may not be the I mean,he was the unequivocal note questions asked first
pick. Now, all of asudden, you got two guys that you
think are equal talent, and youlike one guy's approach to leadership better,
you'll draft him. But you watchhim play on the field, even in
a loss, he's still spectacular.The guy's a great player. Yeap.
(58:50):
So let's that's first. Do Ilike some of the things I see or
hear about it? It bothers me, and it would bother me if I
was a front office guy. ButI'm not letting the fact that he's not
talking the media prevent me from draftinghim. I got to go face to
face with him and find out whatkind of sell himself leadership talk to the
guys around. Okay, So thatbeing said, here's the whole thing about
the media and it. We're init now and I've been on the other
(59:14):
side of it too as a player. Get I understand why you get pissed.
And there are times when somebody inthe media will ask a question that,
quite frankly, is stupid. Theyjust will stupid. I honestly think
one of the dumbest postgame celebration questionsI've ever heard, how do you feel?
Yeah, you know what that's called. I didn't prepare, but just
(59:34):
let me give you the oll.How do you feel? Well, I
feel terrible. We just won bytwo touchdowns. We won the national title.
I feel terrible. But by theway, thanks for asking. Of
course I'm elated. Give me someI need a little more substance at So
every now and again you'll get astupid question. So I understand the app
I've been there and we made theplayoffs. When you got beat in the
playoffs, and I've told you this, I think off the air, but
guy asked me maybe it was onthe air. Can you gather anything positive
(59:59):
from this football seat? Excuse me? Now, to me, that's a
dumb question. Now if you'd justsaid it didn't end the way you wanted
more positives or negatives, And however, you could have phrased it different where
he could have got his point acrosswithout can we gather anything? And right
then there I want to shut itout. I was like, I wanted
to reach out and say, isthat that's seriously your question after a playoff
run? But regardless, so Iget why the frustration of not wanting to
(01:00:20):
talk to him. But I cantell you this, all those guys that
don't want to talk to the mediaduring their career they all want to be
a broadcaster after Okay, for themost part, YEP, so I am
not. I don't subscribe, eventhough I love Caleb Williams game. I
don't subscribe to anybody that's a frontrunning media hound that when things are going
good you want them to pub youin your laughs and smiles and giving them
(01:00:43):
great quotes, or not even justCaleb Williams case, anybody's case that you're
riding high. Oh it's all good. The second adversity hits. So you've
lost five out of your last sixgames. Like them, you're not gonna
win the Heisman. People are questionedwhy you cried in your leadership and all
that. You got to when thingsare going good, you got to saddle
up, and when things are goingbad, matter of fact, you've got
(01:01:04):
to saddle up even more so.Your teammates see it easy to go in
front of the media being endorsement,do all this stuff. I guarantee you
film that Burger Team commercial because everybodytalks great about him, right, yeah,
everybody knows how great he is.Well, guess what when they're telling
you hmm, not sure if you'rehe's playing well, is he going to
be the first pick, s he'slost this many in a row. Wisey,
where's the leadership? Blah blah blahblah blah, and you disappear.
(01:01:25):
It makes me question your leadership,it really does. So I get the
frustration. Is it going to bethe difference whether he talks to media or
not if he gets drafted? Hyph, Absolutely not. But from this standpoint,
I prefer a guy who's willing tostand up there and say, you
know what, we got an arival game. We got to ask kick.
They were more physical than I gotto play better. We've all got
to play better. Hopefully we canget it fixed in a bowl game,
(01:01:50):
and blah blah. It was adisappointing season for us, and we're going
to I know, whether I'm hereor not, we're going to get better.
But whatever it is, you don'thave to you don't have to even
say it long. You just gotto show. I don't need any eloquent
comments. I just need you toshow up. Stroud showed up yesterday,
didn't have his best game. Iknow they won, but you've got to
be able to take the great stuff, which is easy to do the media
when you're kick an ass like lastyear, i'll see. I mean they
(01:02:14):
won't mean all year long, right, everything was great. They didn't get
to the final four because they gotbeat by Utah. But you get my
point. This year things aren't goingwell all the more reason if you want
people outside in NFL, people justlook at you even different. It's like
this guy steps up when it's atits worst. I'm judging you more from
that than you can be really happywhen it's winning. I just think part
(01:02:37):
of the accountability and responsibility as aleader of a team and your best player
and your supposed leader. I don'tthink you can run and hide when you're
getting your askicked. I mean,I can understand how you go up there
and say, guys, only tenminutes today, I'm hired, I'm beat.
At least show up. You don'thave to give them any big answers.
You just got to show up andto say you're not don't tell us,
just don't show up. That's thecase, let's pr handle it.
(01:02:58):
I just think that it's it's tooeasy to run and hide when things are
going bad, and it's way tooeasy to stand up there and beg for
pounding your chest and wanting people totalk to you when things are going good.
I'm not saying for him. Ithink it's a mistake. I don't
think it's that big a deal.I don't like it because it tells me
that when things are going bad,you disappear. And I think your teammates
(01:03:19):
are counting on you to step up. You're our spokesperson, Dude, step
up, Lincoln Riley, step up. You guys are the two guys you
get paid all this money, andyou get paid all this nil money,
all this paid money as a coach. You can't disappear like that. At
least show up and address it.And I think Caleb Williams made a mistake
by not talking well. So Iget to the phone line seven one three
two one two five seven NINEY.Let's start with John, John, what's
up? Hey, guys. Hey, I think that the story of the
(01:03:46):
day yesterday was the game that BlakeCashman had. But he had nineteen tackles,
thirteen solos. I think he hadtwo quarterback hits in a sack,
a big sack for eight yards. That was an incredible game that he played.
And I just wanted to mention thatbecause I mean, we've been talking
a lot about what strouded and everything. But I think that was the story
of the game. Boy did heever step up? And you know,
(01:04:10):
he was filling in I think forDenzel Perramid at that at that position.
I think yesterday and I think,what a what a what a story.
And then the other thing too,was I think was the second interception where
our offensive tackle fan chased down thatguy and tackled him and he's our offensive
tackle. I that boy that youknow, that just shows really by and
(01:04:30):
how everybody's just pulling for each otherand doing whatever it takes to win.
So it's the little things too yesterday, although the little things were big things,
and so I just wanted to pointthat out. You know, those
are some of the things that Ithink that really stood out to me yesterday.
Thank you, John ap Presient thecall. He played phenomenal football he
did. Is that what now?I don't know if you expect the nineteen
(01:04:54):
tackles, but isn't that what aguy who comes in and relieves a guy
who's been suspended supposed to do.Yeah, at least hold it down.
He didn't just hold it down.He made a strong case for saying I
need to see the field more, right, he was phenomenal yesterday. Yeah,
he was all. There was alot of hidden the quarterbacks always going
to get talked about. But thequarterback helped yesterday. But there was other
reasons why that team won, andhe was one of them. Yeap out,
(01:05:16):
hey, al, what's going on? We got about forty five seconds
for you. Yeah. I justwanted to shun to give me a little
insight on I watched the game yesterday. Great game, but I want to
come at a different angle. Ijust want to come call the coach and
I shun, no knock on him. But I think Barby Sloyd shunned.
You know, there's sometimes when youslow the game down and then compromise lipit,
(01:05:42):
it shortens the game. What Imean is getting conservative. I think
the last two games inside two minuteswere trying to throw it over the yard
opposed to taking a run play. You work in the clock. They got
to use the timeouts and we stealinside the twenty win in the red zone
in two weeks in a row.Slow and choose to throw it in the
ends ups and turnovers. I justthink he got a slow the game down
(01:06:02):
and nothing wrong with conservative when yougot to lead because you're putting them on
the heels, and the last twoweeks we choose to throw it and we
even Cincinnati and I just don't wantthis to be a habit charm and on
this teach all completely understand. Here'sthe way it would work. Though if
we ran it three times in arow, you know what everybody'd say,
why are we running it? Whyare we so conservative settling for three points
(01:06:25):
instead of going for six or seven? But I do get what you're talking
about the way too. Okay whenhe says short in the game by running
it, the clocks running and you'redoing all that. But here's my thought
on that. I think that ifyou're Bobby Sloan, you're trying in to
make arounds. You're trying to say, no matter what the situation, we
want to prove that we're not afraidto go attack when things aren't going well,
you just got to be smart withthe football. And those happened,
(01:06:47):
But I would in those situations,I still trust putting it in CJ.
Stroud's hands, and I think theydo too, which is a great sign
that says we turned it over. We're not backing off from this man.
This is who we are and insteadof playing for a field goals for it
ends up in one of those gamesthey're trying to separate the lead. So
I do get what you're saying,but I don't have any a couple of
(01:07:08):
calls, but over the course ofseventy plays, you're gonna miss a call
if you're Bob Bobby Sloker. DemikoRyans on defense to me, I like
aggressiveness. Quarterback has been very protectiveof the football. Just a couple of
weeks they've made some mistakes, butI assure you, if they got a
twenty point lead and there's eight minutesto go, they'll probably run it three
times and get out. But whenit's that, I mean, I don't
(01:07:30):
think they felt the game was outof reach and that the tech that they
three weren't going to be enough. You wanted to go get seven. I
get it right, I know whereelse coming from. But for me,
give me the aggressive approach, especiallythey're telling me they trust the quarterback,
and I do too. I'm allabout attacking and putting my foot on your
throat. Let's talk head coaches inthe NFL. You got a good one
(01:07:50):
right here with Demiko Ryans. Butwhat's what's going on with some of these
other head coaches in poor play calling. Let's talk about an next on Sports

Let's talk coaching in the NFL.Demico Ryans making a big case for Coach
of the Year. And then youlook across the NFL, there's some hot
seats starting to burn. Chargers probablythe Washington Commanders. You could even throw
when the Carolina Panthers, even thoughit will be only one year, that's
(01:11:04):
probably gonna be there at least goingto be discussions if this continues. I'm
wondering if Rabel leaves go somewhere else. You're not gonna fire Rabel, are
they? If this continues, couldit be a time for a change down
there? Maybe I don't. That'sit. New England one, Yeah,
New England. That's another one wherethey gonna do with Bill Belichick. Sean
(01:11:24):
McDermott. Even though they won yesterday. If they only get to the first
round of the playoffs and lose, what about them? How many times are
we going to keep saying, well, if they had this, well,
if they had that? Does firingKen Dorsey give Sean McDermott a hall pass
because he decided to get rid ofa coach he is? So? I
don't know Dermott's a good coach, but there are results and the playoffs st
(01:11:46):
aren't good enough for the Buffalo Billsright now in Buffalo. Who'd they beat?
Yes, Chicago is going to havea new coach more than Chicago.
There's another one. Yeah, Buffalobeat The Jets offense looked a little big.
Josh Allen twenty at thirty two twoseventy five yards, passing three touchdowns,
but yet he throws another pick.Yeah it was. They beat him
up pretty good. Yeah, Jetsare do you think rotten wall? I
(01:12:09):
mean, they're expecting Aaron Rodgers tobe there, but you know they are
really Aaron Rodgers is really saying thathe's going to come back and play this
year. He's not playing, dude, he can't play after you if you
shredded your achilles what? Because wesee him in joggers dropping back walking through
a three step drop. I'm justtalking about from what he actually said,
(01:12:29):
he's not playing. I don't thinkso either. I just know there's no
way. This dude says it everyweek on the Pat McAfee show that he's
going to play this year. Solet's see, they got in nine games,
eight games to go? Is thatwhat it is? So the Jets
who are going to end up beingout of the playoff picture, are going
to four weeks from now to side. Let's just play Aaron the final month
(01:12:53):
of the season. Even if hecan name me a time in history.
Now, well, Aaron's different,He's freaky great. You name me a
time I'm in his then then youknow what I'm telling you. That they
are bsing you about a torn Achilleimpossible. Yeah, I'm with you,
I'm with you. I just Ijust find an industry. This dude says
it week in week out, Liketold me it was Planner fascy it it
(01:13:13):
is. She told me he hadtorn ligaments in his ankle. Uh,
you tell me he had a fracturein his foot. One thing, listen,
I don't put anything past Aaron Rodgersin his ability to do what he
wants to do. But walking withouta limp into a stadium and playing catch
and pregame warm up without a booton or whatever. First off, why
(01:13:35):
would you risk the prized possession ona team that's not now if you had
Aaron Rodgers the whole year. Ifirmly believe they're in a division battle to
win the division against Miami and Buffalo. I believe that he is a big
Look just compare Rogers with that defense. Put Rogers is the quarterback there with
the way Breis Hall runs it andwith Wilson, and they've got some players,
(01:13:58):
man. But no, I gotan argument with JB over this.
He said the same thing. Hesaid, Look, Sean, he's warm
it With're like, dude, he'swarming up and jogger. Yeah, it's
fascinating that he's already doing that. The guy will not take a snap under
center. If he does, thenyou're not telling me it was a full

(01:14:21):
this, There's never been a manthat's recovered that I can remember in sports
recovered from an achilles into injury inthree months. Three months. Let's see
Cam Akers returned after let's see sixmonths. Okay, well that's the end
(01:14:43):
of the season. Season's over.Returned after six months. Heard it in
the offseason, but remember and thenthe off season. Alls you do is
train, right, yeah? Sixmonths? About six months Tayson wins Rogers
playing Mmm, last week of theseason. Do you get a little fired
up over this time? No?I just I'm just fascinated that as much
as Aaron first of all, hasbeen tugging on people's chain forever, Yeah,
(01:15:05):
no question about that, and heand this this alls it does is
keep people asking the same question.Well, I'm tired Aaron Rodgers tugging on
my chain. But I would ifyou're a doctor out there and you've done
achilles surgery or know somebody who is, come on and tell me how a
guy can tear his achilles in apreseason game, right? Was it the
(01:15:27):
no first game of the season, first game of the season. Oh yeah,
on that big night that every withall the hype, and then three
months later, tell me he's playingon a full torn achilles. There's way
and he's not twenty two, No, there's no. I just I mean
I know all the you know, whatever he did when he went to the
room by himself and three days away. That's fine and dandy, but there's
(01:15:49):
a retreat. Yeah, there's medicalI believe in medical miracles. That that
that's that. That that's the goodLord is right there carrying your achilles for
you, don't. I don't seeit. I'm not as much. I
love Aaron. I love the wayhe toys be. There's no way.
(01:16:10):
Now, if this team was tenand one, guess what else they wouldn't
do. They may go And hesaid, well, if we're ten and
one, we're playing well for areason, maybe we shouldn't worry about Aaron
will be back next year. Idon't see it. Have you ever watched
Robert Sala on the sidelands. I'venever seen a coach. Todd Bowles is
close because he didn't get anibated eitherman and I know when they're winning.
But watching Tod watching Robert Sala, who I love stand on the sidelands when
(01:16:33):
the camera goes to him, handsin the pocket, and it just he
does not change his face. It'salmost like he's like, this is watching
this offense. I can't even fathomit. Yeah, Lovey Smith the same
thing him and Todd Bowles were likeidentical, like they did not ever show
emotion anything. And I don't thinkfor me it's I don't know if it's
(01:16:53):
not that the solid because you've seenhim with the great emotion when they were
when they win, he gets firedup. I think sometimes he's sit back
with that big heavy jacket. I'mthinking, what are we doing offensively?
I think he's baffled the poor playon offense to the play like, what
do you say, Zach Wilson sevento fifteen eighty one yards? I told
this to They're horrible. One touchdown, one interception, Breeze Hall ten carries
(01:17:16):
twenty three yards. Can't win manygames like that. So I just I
do not see Aaron Rodgers tell meall you want. I fully expect to
be back, ready to roll, fully in spring, ready to go.
Oh and apparently they're going to tryto go get Devanta Adams. I right
over there. That doesn't shock meeither. There's a better chance they get
DeVonta Adams and Aaron Rodgers taking onesnap under centator in this fall. It's
(01:17:39):
not happening. I do. We'rethere, we're Thanksgiving meal than December.
He's going to play in the nextfive weeks. Huh, well, are
you running him out there? Noplayoffs? You're gonna play one game.
You're gonna throw him out there thelast two weeks the scene just for fun.
No, you do that with abackup rookie quarterback. You're trying to
get experience with not a kg veteran. You've got all this money invested in
you expect to win. Oh,sorry, it's not happening. He may
(01:18:01):
feel like it's good, one falsemovement, it's not fully one hundred percent
ready. Then his career is over. Then his career is over. He's
not playing this year. If hedoes, then then we all need whatever
he's taking. Yeah, send ithere. Yeah, let's take a couple
of those. Yeah, whatever itis. Let's look across the NFL.
(01:18:23):
After week eleven, what do welearn that's next? On Sportslock seven eighty,

A big siege. If you callhim siege, We're done. If
that's the nickname, if anybody everuses that on air, like Drey gave

it, dude, that would takeyou want to take cheesy nicknames to a

J. Stroud played for the HoustonAstros, you know he would be
called siege. It's gonna be ajep fly ball to left field. It's
gonna hit the Crawford box. That'sanother long ball for se It's so wrong.
(01:20:02):
Funny though funny, and I knowyou beat it with affection, but
I can tell you this, don'tdo it. Say it again. How
would that happen? It hits agapper. Can give me a gapperpot to
one pitch on its way. That'sa deep fly bottle of center field.
It's gonna be off the wall. He's gonna have themselves stand up double how
(01:20:25):
two band scores on the hit.Don't do siege. Don't give you a
siege call? And then blood belike Sae yeah, I freaking love it,
Todds, What's just what happened? They're fantastic out there, Damn right.
They are one of the best inthe business. Two of the best
in the business, no question, one of the best teams. Correct,
(01:20:46):
Yeah, absolutely, I feel you, dog. It's great to be dogs,
man. It is, man,it is looking across the NFL this
past weekend. Obviously a massive matchuptonight Super Bowl rematch Eagles. So this
one will keep you up. Itwill Eagles and Chiefs. Thankfully it's on
Monday Night football. We get tohear a good broadcast crew. Speaking of
(01:21:09):
broadcast crews, and be Joe Buckand Troy Aikman. Troy Aikman, AYK
get that time for him to comeon the show. Well, Jimmy Johnson,
congratulations to Jimmy by the way,yes it is it is time Aikman
or Jerry Jones Troy Yeah, Ithink Troy. By the way, Jerry,
thank you. Finally, long overduetwo. Finally he's in the Hall
(01:21:32):
of Fame. To put Jimmy Johnson, who got his Hall of Fame NFL
Hall of Fame call well last year, right, I mean when they called
him up. I remember seeing theexcitement they scheduled. I mean when they
announced, I think Aikman was TroyAikman was in the booth watching Jimmy,
you know, an emotional time. And now finally Jerry Jones is putting him
(01:21:53):
in the Ring of Honor with theDallas Cowboys. About damn time. Yes,
and it is a phenomenal, phenomenalWhat's I think at the end of
December, late in the season, and oh h Jimmy Johnson was elected to
the Hall of Fame in twenty twenty. Has it been that long? Yeah?
So I thought I could have swornit was the last twenty twenty one
at the end of and then hewas last twenty two. Yeah, I
(01:22:14):
thought it was last year. Ithought his class was twenty. I mean
twenty twenty one they told him,or I guess because they tell you the
Super Bowl, right, So justafter twenty twenty one, the twenty twenty
one super Bowl, right for thetwenty twenty two coins, right, I
would have I had him a yearlater, all the time flying over the
year man, yep, ty,Yeah, you forget it seems like you
forget everything, right, Yeah,Well, it's about to be twenty twenty
four. I know it's crazy, but Jimmy deserved that, and finally Jerry's
(01:22:36):
got him in the Ring of Honor, and well deserved. Did they take
that long, Well, I don'tknow, but I think Jerry likes to
have the one up on p youknow what I'm saying. But they were
together yesterday and announced it, andI think this is awesome and it meant
a lot to Jimmy Johnson, andI think a lot. I meant a
lot to the Cowboy fans to seeand players to see that Jimmy finally got
(01:22:57):
in one of the best talent evaluatorsthat we've ever seen as a head coach.
So looking at some of these scoresfrom across the league, Ravens obviously
on Thursday Night Football took down theBengals. Joe Burrow leaves he's with that
wrist injury. Brown's scrappy win againstthe Steelers thirteen to ten. That Steelers
offense is terrible. It's as patheticas there is in a league. Poor
Mike Tomlin having to find a wayto get six wins like they do and
(01:23:20):
have on an offense that is suchan amateur our offense. It's hard to
believe Lions keep rolling. They beatthe Bears thirty one to twenty six.
It was an ugly win, butat the combatory was big yep. Packers
taking down the Chargers can't surprise youin a one score game. I think
since like nineteen seventy, nobody's lostmore one score games than the Chargers.
(01:23:41):
That's over the course of time. They just don't know how to close.
I think we as a sports societyare way too quick to blame head coaches.
But that's coaching for me. Idon't think they have buy in.
I don't think they do either.And it's he's a really smart x's and
o's guy. Some guys aren't cutout for maybe the second time around he
will be. But he's just nota I don't think he commands a locker
(01:24:04):
room. And they're such a talentedteam, but are we going to keep
saying this too? Man? Lookat all that talent, but I just
the Chargers baffle me every single week. Dolphins beat the Raiders twenty to thirteen.
They are now seven and three onthe season. Raiders hung in there,
man, with chances. They hadchances, and they just couldn't get
(01:24:25):
it in. And they had achance driving down at the end and couldn't
pull it out, you know, throwing the ball. I mean, and
Aidan O'Connell still learning the position. But they are sure playing a lot with
a lot more energy and smarts. With Antonio Pierce as their head coach,
I think he's going to get alook, a real look when the season's
over if they continue to play wellas the full time head coach. Commanders
(01:24:46):
beat the Giants, they I mean, I'm sorry, Giants beat the Commanders.
Samhow three interceptions. Yep. Well, see a team they're not very
good, and they've you know, they put up a lot of yards and
Eric b Enemy's got that offense.I mean, you know, they've put
up some good yards and numbers offensivelythis year. But bad teams or teams
that don't know how to close putthose yards. They throw three picks and
(01:25:10):
guess what happens. They get beatby a Giants team that's been pathetic and
Tommy DeVito actually outplayed Sam Howe yesterday. On the other side of it,
the difference is just compared to thisteam three picks, this team overcame it.
They can't. You will get anew coach there more than likely as
well Cowboy with a new ownership.Another another coach that could find himself on
(01:25:30):
the hot seat, Frank Reich fromthe for the Panthers. Cowboys demolish them
thirty three to ten, easy triplyRelax. Yeah, I ain't. I
ain't you know, ain't thing.It's too early. I ain't even gonna
get on y'all nerves with it thismorning. It's okay, super Bowl shine,
just no. Yeah, I'm feelyou, Doc, Just no,
I feel you. Remember at thebeginning of the year, I told you
to go bet money on Dak Prescottfor m v P. Let's still do
(01:25:53):
it. You may you may rememberthose odds you could have got. Not
a bad gig now because he's in, he's in the talk. He's in.
He is definitely in the talk, and he's playing good football. Do
you ever notice the Cowboys the onething they do do when they're when they
play ugly, it looks bad.But when they play teams they're supposed to
beat, they hammer them. They'recovering stress. I've made money on the
(01:26:15):
Cowboys against the Giants twice and yesterday. I just they find ways to hammer
the teams they're supposed to Yeah, most of the time, at least this
year, they score a lot ofpoints against bad teams. As we get
into the eight o'clock hour, let'slook at the AFC South and how it's
shaken up for a big time matchupbetween the Jaguars and Texans this coming Sunday.

one sixteen, Aaron Nola returning tothe Phillies on a seven year deal.
Let's look at the AFC South afterthe games this weekend. The Jaguars get
(01:29:30):
back in the win column. Theybeat down the Tennessee Titans thirty four to
fourteen. Trevor Lawrence had himself anice game, twenty four to thirty two,
two hundred and sixty two yards passing. They looked so much better.
(01:29:53):
I want you to think. Yeah, the week before they got also two
rushing touchdowns carved up by forty nineers who look pretty good too. Again,
don't they tell me again why peopledon't like rock Party. He had
a perfect passer rating yesterday. Mychance won't get me started. I went
off on that on the show yesterdaytoo. It's like, because he doesn't
look the part and he's not sixfour two twenty, we just can't give
if he was the third pick ofthe draft or the fifth pick of the
(01:30:15):
draft. Right now, people betalking about, Man, the forty nine
ers got their next Steve Young,That's what they'd be saying. Just not
because he's not is physically gifted asfar as throwing the ball down the field.
I thought the object was to playgreat football and win. He wins,
which leads me to next week, and with next week about with it,
it's never too early. Okay, great, they didn't play their best
(01:30:36):
football yesterday, they still found away to win. I'm okay. I
mean, listen, matter of fact, I love teams like that. Do
you realize that they'll be seven andfour with next week's win? Take yourself
back to June fifteenth, in Julytenth draft day, there's no way on
(01:31:01):
this green earth, anybody that's there, that's there, they've exceeded what you
thought their win total was going tobe all year. With a win next
week, right, and now it'snow it's getting real, legitimate, a
team that is first place. Thenext game they play will be in December,
and we're into one hell of arun, dude. So that would
(01:31:25):
be seven and four eleven games inwith six to go and a schedule that's
favorable, and you would have toplay five hundred for to give me the
games after Jacksonville again in order ifyou don't mind Broncos tough, tough,
the Broncos are playing. The Broncosare getting scary playoff vibe, aren't they.
They are getting a scary play AndRussell Wilson, we said we'd stand
(01:31:47):
up and put an arm up tosay last year he deserved every frigging ounce
of criticism he got, not justfrom the cheesy fun stuff. He was
awful last year and then and criticizehe's got a long way to go to
play great football. But if hesteps up with Sean Payton, we said,
if Sean Payton can't do it,I'm not sure anybody in the league's
going to be able to well.Russell Wilson feels to me like he is
(01:32:10):
focused more on football than being acelebrity. Realized there's in my mind,
there's no doubt that it's just myopinion that Sean Payton and him have had
private conversations of because Sean Payton canbe, can be right, smack dab
in your face, and has givehim the old I don't want to say
ultimatum, but I don't care howmuch money you make. You've got to
(01:32:31):
play better football. Number one.If you don't, we can't win.
Number two is I can't keep playinga guy two hundred million dollars or not.
That isn't that we can't rely onright, maybe in different terms the
way he said it, but SeanPayton's pretty transparent about that with his players,
and we've heard him before he doesn'tplay that. So but Russe Wilson
(01:32:53):
has answered the call to stand up. Listen. He is in the conversation
for comeback Player of the Year viaEx's and O'saway's played because he was all
all last year. He's been prettysolid most of this year. That's a
tough game. I'm gonna give theI'm going to give the Broncos the win
on that just for the hell ofit. So that'll take them to seven
and five. Then they got afterthe Jack k at the Jets. They're
(01:33:14):
beating the Jets. The Jets offensewon't move the ball at all against them.
Week following at the Titans. Theway the Titans are playing, I
don't see how how the quarterback positionsalvage does that win? Hell, even
with the quarterback position playing just blah. Yesterday, Dereck Henry had what ten
carries? I mean, they're beatingTennessee there, that gets them to nine
(01:33:40):
wins. Let's see yesterday they're oftennot good for the Titans. Yikes.
Will Loves thirteen to seventeen hundred andfifty eight yards, two touchdowns. Derrick
Henry ten carries for thirty eight yards. Why okay, so that's nine and
five right, and then they gotthe Browns. You still got two games
(01:34:03):
left after the Browns. I'll getno. Deshaun Watson dtr played pretty good
that games where that's at home.Give me, give me the Texans,
give me the Texans. That can'tbe eleven and five. Well, no,
there's after that. There's a tenand six though? Is that where
(01:34:26):
I got him at? Now?No, they'd be uh ten and five?
No, yeah, ten and five? Days after that, you got
two weeks get two weeks left, jack gets into seven and four, right,
So right now they are six andfour. Okay, so Jacksonville win.
I already said, let's say they'dbe Jacksonville seven and four. Now
you just gotta play five hundred footballto get in the plaoffs. Nine to
ten wins. So seven and fourgets you the next week, we said
(01:34:47):
Denver correct, seven and five,ok Jets eight and five, Titans nine
and five, Browns nine and six. I'm gonna say the Browns. Well
wait, now, I take thatback. Without Watson, I think they
can shut the Browns down ten andsix. Okay, Titans. That would
(01:35:09):
be the Titans again. They shouldeleven and six to ten and six.
Ten and seven are eleven and six, and then the Colts to finish up
the season. Well, that's eighteengames. So it's no, no,
you're you're ten and six is sixteenand you gave me two games? No,
you gave you said ten and five. What's our record right now?
Turst six and four? They beatJacksonville seven and four, correct, they
lose to Denver seven and five, yes, then the Jets that's eight and
(01:35:31):
five, Then the Titans that wouldbe nine and five. Then the Browns.
Ten and five is where we go. Okay, so we had one
extra losses, Yeah, ten andfive. So let's say then the Titans,
then the Colts. Let's say theylose one of them gets you to
eleven and six. I don't evethink they're gonna do that. I think
we're gonna twelve and five. Theirschedule, miule is favorable to go twelve
(01:35:51):
and five. If they go twelveand five, you have the executive of
the year, the coach of theyear, the rookie of the year,
and the most player in the league. Yeah, and I know it's gonna
sound like a trip, dude.If they go twelve and five, there's
(01:36:11):
a really good chance they're going tobe staring at a chance the last week
of the season for home field advantage. Now, I want you to fathom
that for one second. It's notlike we said in that schedule that Kansas
City, a great Baltimore team, and the forty nine ers are the last
three games. What tells you theTitans are capable of beating them right now?
(01:36:33):
Nothing? Okay, Jacksonville capable becauseyou know, split and they got
they got a good team. Denvercapable do good team and the Browns capable
with DTR but it's still a differentin they're here. If that game been
in Cleveland because of the just theinclement weather, I would have given the
Browns the win. Okay, thatstill gives you if you beat Jackson,
(01:36:54):
that still gets you to ten wins. But point is if they got to
twelve wins, come on, man, Okay, Baltimore has got what they're
were. They're eight and two.Let me pull up the standings. Baltimore
is eight and two, right,I believe so yes, I think Philly
beats camp ad E Houston, AH, Houston an iHeart radio station. This

Okay, so Jacksonville win. Ialready said, let's say they'd be

(01:44:01):
The next week, we said Denvercorrect, seven and five, Jets
eight and five, Titans nine andfive, Browns nine and six. I'm
gonna say the Browns. Well wait, now I take that back. Without
Watson, I think they can shutthe Browns down ten and six. Okay,
Titans, that would be the Titansagain, they should eleven and six
(01:44:26):
to ten and six. Ten andseven are eleven and six, and then
the Colts to finish up the season. Well, that's eighteen games. So
it's no, no, you're you'reten and six is sixteen and you gave

our record right now? Turst sixand four. They beat Jacksonville seven and
four, correct, they lose toDenver seven and five, Yes, then
the Jets that's eight and five, then the Titans that would be nine and
(01:44:47):
five, then the Browns ten andfive. This is where we go.
Okay, so we had one extralosses the yeah, ten and five.
So let's say then the Titans, then the Colts. Let's say they lose
one of them gets you to elevenand six. I don't even they're gonna
do that. Think they're going totwelve to five. Their schedule is favorable
to go twelve and five. Ifthey go twelve and five, you have

I would have given the Browns thewin. Okay, that still gives
you if you beat Jackson, thatstill gets you to ten wins. But
the point is if they got totwelve wins, come on, man,
Okay, Baltimore has got what they'rewhere. They're eight and two. Let
(01:46:18):
me pull up the standings. Baltimore'seight and two, right, I believe?
So? Yes. I think Phillybeats Kansas City tonight, so that
would be two losses for Kansas City. Baltimore's eight and three. Eight and
three, Okay, that's right.Didn't they have bye week this week?
No? They played. They playedon Thursday, gme, that's right.
So they're eight and three. SoKansas City, if they lose, will
they be eight and three as well? Yeah? No, they'll be seven
(01:46:38):
and three because they yes, becausethey had a buye. Okay, so
they're one game behind with the bye, correct, that's what it's their tenth
game, Uh, seven and three. If Kansas City has they'd have to
go one more loss to get tothirteen. Yeah, and then you got
the Dolphins at seven and three.Dolphins are losing again this year. Just
(01:46:58):
so you understand that they're gonna losea couple more. Let's see who do
they have left. They've got theJets, Commanders, Titans, Jets,
Cowboys, Ravens, Bills. Sotheir last three weeks are pretty tough.
I don't see any team in theAFC going fourteen and three, no thirteen,
So twelve keeps you in the hunt, is my point. And they
are winnable and they're gonna be it'sgonna be favorable. You're playing a rookie
(01:47:19):
quarterback twice more than likely in Levis, you're playing a backup quarterback in Indianapolis.
That's three of the games. Youare playing Denver at home here,
correct? Yep, you're playing abackup quarterback who was the third string guy
a couple of weeks ago in DTRand you're playing him at home. You're
(01:47:41):
gonna play who else? Would thatschedule named it all Jacksonville and then Russ
Wilson for the Broncos, And Isaid, and Russ Wilson and you're getting
them at home? Yeah, soJaguars out the Jets. Is the other
team Jets, which will be abackup quarterback. Yeah, because you want
to talk not Zach Wilson. It'llbe a third string quarterback. So what
point is is you're getting okay it, dude. If they take care of
(01:48:04):

I'm having a little bit issues overhere. Just caught him up. Pod
me up, Tim, what's up? How are y'all? Doing today,
I'll have a dead one. Yes, sir, we are. What about
(01:51:58):
you? What's on your mind?Well done? Well? I wanted to
talk about the best football game thatwas played this past weekend, took place
at the LA Coliseum with the greatteam. Does Sean have the words to
the Sons of Westwood keyed up sohe could sing it for me? You
(01:52:23):
know what, Tim, I triedto sing it for me with the song
and the colors are so putrid Ithrew up in my mouth while I was
singing it. Well, I'll tellyou what. They really did lubricate those
Trojans this past weekend, And I'lltell you what did what, Tim,
They lubricated the Trojans. Yes theydid, and we didn't play like a
magnum. We've played like extra small. That's for damn show, no excel.
(01:52:45):
We went extra small and our defensecouldn't stop a high school team.
So you're exactly right. Kudos tomy buddies from u c l A.
Kudos to you. And the sadthing about is I went in and expecting
that this was going to be typicalof what they do and it did not
shock me. U c l Ais a better team than we are better
team. Congratulations. Yeah, SChas had a horrible year. Their data
(01:53:09):
it's like you said, just doesn'texist. I actually have U c l
A colors on, don't I Alittle bit of my pants are tanned,
but they're not gold and blue shirtand blue hat. Yeah, much to
my chagrin, but I always alsoknow take the good with the bad in
U c l A and Washington andOregon and Utah and a bunch of others
(01:53:29):
are all better than us this year. And U c l A beat us
in arrival. Now we got tolive with that and notre dame all year
long. You're exactly right, right, So congratulations one. Thanks you went
c l A. They what'd yousay? We didn't use We didn't use
the magnum. We went extra small. Yeah, we decided to go extra
small Trojan to get some set ofdouble XL magnum on their ash. But
(01:53:53):
yeah, damn yeah, tough sledman A right, okay, really,
Lincoln right, is gonna go coachTexas A and M It's okay, whoa,
whoa. Let's go to George.George, good morning, Good morning,
guys. How are you doing today? We're fired up? Baby,
what's up? Man, we I'mfired up to well, I got a
(01:54:14):
bone to pick with you all alittle bit. You know. I called
before the season started and I gaveyou all my prop bets for the year
that the Texans will you know whenthey see South make it to the playoffs.
Oh you did, I remember,George? You're right? Yeah,
congratulation, I do remember, George. Well, they're not there yet,
but they're on They're on the rightpath. Is that what glove or what
I was calling? Boast a little. It's not done yet. It's not
(01:54:38):
yet. It's not it's not doneyet. But I want to get y'all
thoughts. But you never thought thequarterback was going to play this good?
None of us did. None ofus knew he was going to do this.
Yeah, he's doing great. He'sdoing a great he's doing a great
job. I'm so excited. I'mso optimistic about the season. But give
me your thoughts on how I'm lookingfor the rest of the season and what
we got to look for. ButI'll sit back and listen to y'all.
(01:54:58):
Thank y'all very much. Thanks.I think he almost dropped an f bam
a ball, he said there andhe stopped so thank you. They're freaking
good. Yeah, it is whathe wanted to say, and I think
that's what was almost cave out. What he meant to say was honey,
can you pass the sugar? Whatcame out? What you fat rear in?
You give me the sugar? No, that's an old joke that I'll
(01:55:18):
tell you one time. It wasfunny. Is uh, he's right,
And I remember his call and Iwas saying, let's slow down a little
bit, right, and he's righton and the quarterbacks validating everything that we
that a lot of people didn't thinkabout. I mean, he's validating the
other side that he was a greatplayer like he was in college. Here's
what I think. I think theyplay five hundred or better football and get
(01:55:42):
in. I think they're at thisstage of the game just judging if they
win next week. I think theywin ten games and will win the division
ten or eleven games. I don'tthink they're going to win twelve. So
I said they were going to goseven and ten. We said seven with
a chance at eight if things turnout right. And I think actually the
ceiling for me was nine and eight. Agree, I think they're gonna go
None of us got them to ten. Now, looking at the schedule and
(01:56:02):
how we are in the season andinjuries and things like that, there's no
question they should go at least elevenand six. Well, remember what happens
a lot of times last to firstin the NFL. Bad team turns around,
Bam, next thing you know,Old Jed's a millionaire and they're winning
the division. Jacksonville win play fivehundred ball after that, which won't be
(01:56:28):
enough for them. They want toplay better than five hundred ball. But
I gotta believe in the AFC becausenow you hold an incredible tiebreaker in the
division because the Colts and the Titansthey're not in this run, but the
Texans and Jaguars are. Now itonly may take one team. Hell,
who knows, maybe both of themplay well enough you actually do steal a
wild card from somebody. But you'regonna have to do it because Denver believes
(01:56:51):
they got a shot. Now.I mean, there's some teams. I
really like the way this team's playing, and he's spot on. I think
they're a playoff team now, Butwe still got there's still a lot of
football left to be played. Sevengames to be exact, Is that right?
And so this one this week, they're gonna have to play their best
football this week. Yeah. Yeah, because the Jacksonville Jaguars, even though
(01:57:13):
they got their ass kicked last weekyesterday, they come back and they take
care of business against Tennessee and it'sa divisional matchup, and they know that
the Texans own them when it comesto this division division matchup, regardless of
who's the quarterback or not. Soyou know they're gonna be coming with everything.
I mean, they're not slouches byany means. No, oh no,
they're more than capable, more thancapable. So you got to have
(01:57:35):
a and they'll be prepared because theyyou know, you beat them last time.
Yeah, they've against a good teamthis year, the forty nine ers.
They got beat down bad. Sothat was embarrassing. They played pretty
good football. But they should havebeat what Titans yesterday. Right with the
Titans, they should have beat them. They're supposed to. But there this
is a whole different look. Asidefrom the fact that Texans always seemed to
(01:57:56):
play good football against them, You'redealing with a different egg now team that
can throw it and run it andthey're flying around on defense. And it's
here Yeah, Jacksonville's got their handsfull to get to in a row next
week. Hey, real quick, before we get to break, ye Joel,
Jed's a millionaire? Who's Jed?Okay, before we go to break,
pull up the it's are you talkingabout Jed from like Beverly hill Billies?
(01:58:18):
Hey? Could you give me afavor? Triple E's google the theme
song for the Beverly Hillbillies. Yeah, it is Jed clamp It. Yeah,
Jed clamp It, just a validateWe got a second and there's no
cuss words in it. He discoversoil in his Arkansas Mountain home because of
a millionaire overnight. Yeah. Figure, I figured it was a jingle.
(01:58:40):

the Beverly Hillbillies are? Horse? He doesn't. He does know who Granny
is and Jed and Jeth row goodgroup. Yeah, find it, Manny,

California is a you ought to besold and yeah yeah swimming movie stars
(02:00:11):

(02:00:32):
that is you're right, tak collegefootball is Jed a millionaire and I will
apparently overnight. Man, there's somescenarios, dude, love a good scenario.
Can Georgia slide in to your dMS if they don't win the SEC
championship? Saw college game? Theytry to talk about scenarios. We have
(02:00:53):
ours, we do. What areour scenarios for the college football Playoff'll discuss

Welcome back to the Seawan Southbury Showhere on Sports Talk seven ninety. Sean,
Brian and Triplely here with you thismorning. Rockets and Warriors nine pm,
the tip off eight o'clock launch padright here on Sports Talk seven on
your home for Rockets Basketball, Texansbeat the Cardinals twenty one sixteen, Aaron
(02:02:05):
Nola returning to the Phillies on aseven year deal. So some news out
of Major League Baseball. It's talkcollege football. There's some scenario Sean after
some things have happened. Jordan Travis, the quarterback for Florida State, it's
gonna be out for the rest ofthe season with a broken bone and his
leg. Ohio State won Georgia one, Michigan one. Florida State did win,
(02:02:32):
but however they lost their quarterback.Washington with a gritty win and some
horrible conditions against Oregon State and Oregonwins in Oregon wins and Texas Texas wins.
Okay, here's some scenarios. I'mnot choosing one. I'm just telling
you what they're gonna face now. When on predictions, Jerry Palm, who
(02:02:55):
does for CBS, does a lotof college hoops in NFL predicting his predictions
are as it rolls through, FloridaState's still getting in. I don't think
Florida State's gonna beat Louisville. Ithink Louisville's the best team in the country.
Nobody talks about I'm talking about it. Underrated deserves a lot more love.
He's got Georgia going the undefeated, which means they're gonna beat Alabama.
(02:03:16):
In his mind, he's got Oregongoing, and he's got the win of
the Big Ten going. He doesn'tthink Texas has a shot now because the
win the win was at Jumping Organ. If Oregon goes and wins a Pac
twelve championship, there is a legitimateshot. See to me, let's just
forget, forget what I'm talking about. That's from the committee standpoint, what
(02:03:39):
Jerry Palm thinks will happen. Right, we still got to play him out.
Hell, who knows Washington may beatOrgan, which will eliminate Organ in
Washington. He's got Washington play inAlabama. I think of the Cotton Bowl,
all right, but you still gotto play a game on a field.
Here's a deal. In College GameDay was doing some of these numbers,
and it's amazing how different they were. And there's a part of me
(02:03:59):
that believes this too. Yet tryingto get into the Committee's head about a
three peak because we haven't seen athree peat. I can't remember when.
So I want you to think aboutthis. Let's start with Georgia first.
Let's just focus on them as thenumber one team in the country. If
they win, it's a no brainer. The SEC champion is going to the
playoff. Yes, if it's Alabamaand they beat Georgia there not only are
(02:04:21):
they going, they deserve to go, beating the number one team in the
country. When the number one teamin the country is playing about Carson Beck's
a sneaky Heisman Trophy guy, They'replaying about as good as you can play.
Right now, Alabama is and Georgiaand I don't know if Alabama can
even beat Georgia. But if Georgiawins, no brainer, undefeated, it'll
(02:04:41):
go in as the number one seed. Now let's go back if Georgia loses.
McAfee made a pretty decent point collegefootball. You know, the committee
does not want Georgia out of this. They do not. I'm not saying
they're going to, my opinion, just we're just giving different scenarios. Tell
you who I think the four bestteams in the country are. And I
(02:05:02):
got news for you, Florida Stateain't one of them. I'm talking about
if they all played in a roundrow. Now, people say, well
they've earned it. Thirteen. Well, the ACC a little shaky. I'm
not saying they haven't earned it accordingto the way the rules are set,
or when I say rules the waynormally we think undefeated. If they're able
to go on and go undefeated anda conference champion, I still think there's
a chance as a conference champion, they don't get in if they undefeated.
(02:05:27):
You tell me if Georgia played FloridaState right now without that quarterback at Florida
State, boat race them. Ithink they boat race them. Even with
Jordan Travis. I think they're gonnabe three. I think they'd be like
almost three touchdown favorites, seventeen anda half points. I was gonna say
or more, but yeah, ormore, that was my guess. Was
gonna be eighteen points? I don'tsee, and there was on that set.
There's maybe it was either Herb Streetor and I there's a part of
(02:05:49):
me that tends to agree with him. Unless Georgia gets curb stopped by Alabama
thirty seven to three. Are youreally do you really look me in the
face time me? You don't thinkGeorge's one of the four best teams in
America. Georgia is the best, one of the best teams in the country
and they're the best team. Yeah, that they just are until somebody proves
otherwise. So I think there's stilla shot that two teams from the SEC
(02:06:11):
go. If Alabama wins, Ithink there's a shot, and I think
the committee's going to mullet over bigtime because in truth, you want the
four best and you hope it alllines up with the way conference champions win.
But we really, when they sayit, we want to take conference
champions and in a bigger team playoff, you would take the five Power five
conferences and and then a wild cardand however else you do in the other
six. Right, but with FloridaState, there's nothing says you absolutely have
(02:06:34):
to all Right, Texas plays FloridaState. Who you're picking. I'm going
to Texas. Oregon plays Florida State. Who you're picking Oregon? Washington places
Florida State. Who you're picking Washington, Alabama, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia,
Ohio State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan, Florida State. In
true and now that they're quarterbacks out, I'm not sure that the committee can
(02:06:54):
automatically say you're going to the finals. I think there's a legitimate shot.
Now they may go. I don'tthink they're gonna be undefeated. I think
Louisville's gonna beat them, But Ithink Louisville is gonna beat him. Georgia,
you're gonna have a hard time forcingthem out no matter what. Two
teams to win conference champions championships couldget left out because Georgia's better Chexast sorry
(02:07:16):
to tell you all, Washington, sorry to Tay Orgon, stry to Tay
in that game, there's no game, maybe the Alabama game, because they're
competitive. There's gonna be no gamethat Georgia is gonna play that they won't
a touchdown favorite. I wouldn't thinkof all those teams we just named.
Yeah, all right, So withthat, Georgia undefeated and lose one game
(02:07:39):
still a possibility, correct, Yeah, I think so. Florida State.
To me, they have to go. I don't care if they mean they
have got to I think that.I don't think they're getting in because I
don't think they're gonna win the conferencechampionship. If they don't go undefeated,
they're not getting in. Obviously.I think there's a chance, and I
think there's a legitimate chance that thecommittee may say, are they better in
(02:08:01):
Texas? Are they better not?No, can't put him in. I
think that chance and you know what, they're out's going to be lost your
quarterback. Sadly, it's a bummerbecause he's had a hell of a season.
He lost your quarterback. I thinkthey're out. And think the Herb
Street Nonchalanta. I mean, Idon't mean it was almost to him is
that the other teams are better thanFlorida State, And I agree with him.
(02:08:22):
Now here's where the real thing comesin. The Big Ten winners in
they'll be undefeated therein. I don'tcare what most think. I believe the
Pac twelve winner of Oregon or Washingtonis in regardless. Washington's in if they're
un defeated. And I think thatOregon's in because right now, aside from
jayde Namias leading Canadon for the HeismanTrophy as bo Nicks, I think they're
(02:08:43):
in the winner of the Pac troff. So let's assume that that the winner
of the SEC, the winner ofthe Big Ten, and the winner of
the Pac twelve are all in fairenough no matter who it is. Alabama
with one loss, Michigan, ohiuseState undefeated, Washington undefeated, Oregon with
one loss. Fair enough, weredown to one, and you've got Florida
State, Texas and that's the aone loss Big Ten team out. Yep,
(02:09:09):
Washington loses to Oregon, Washington's gonnabe out. The one loss conference
champion you'll get in. So you'redown to this. You're down to a
Georgia team with one loss. IfAlabama wins, you're down to Florida State
and you're down to Texas. FloridaState, Texas. Give me Texas all
(02:09:30):
day. They win the Confence Championship. One loss. There better than Florida
State without their quarterback and undefeated.Let's eliminate Florida State. I personally think
it's gonna come if Georgia loses toAlabama. If Georgia beats Alabama, it's
going to be Georgia. If Georgiabeats Alabama, you're probably in. And
Florida State goes undefeated, you're probablygonna put him in. Although Texas is
(02:09:52):
better. But when it comes tothis, Georgia, Texas, Florida State,
just think from a committee standpoint, you're taking not who we want with
Texas. Who are you taking Georgiagets beat by Alabama thirty one to twenty
eight. Okay, so it's aclose game, walk off fashion then a
(02:10:16):
one loss Georgia an undefeated Florida State. What's gonna settle that? I personally
think it's gonna come down to this. Florida State gets beat by Louisville.
Yep. If Georgia gets beat byAlabama and Oregon beats Washington or Washington pack
to ten said, I don't carePac twelve, it's gonna be Washington and
(02:10:37):
organ They're going Big ten's going conferencechampion in the SEC is going. Let's
say it's not Georgia. I thinkyou're gonna Louisville's gonna eliminate Florida State and
it's gonna come down to Texas. And if they do lose a one lost
Georgia team, I would think froma committee standpoint, they should take Texas.
They should, but I don't knowif they will. They should they
(02:11:00):
should any man, did you hearwhat? Did you hear what they were
saying on game day? As well? You probably didnt because you're coaching baseball.
Is They also made the comment thecommittee is going to take into a
play and it's sad because a win'sa win. When who's gonna win the
Heisman Trophy? Whoever shines this ofthe great player right now, of bow
Knicks or Jayden? Jayden with threelosses isn't gonna get that spotlight game.
(02:11:22):
If bow Knicks goes off again inthe next few next week against Oregon State,
guess who's winning the Heisman? Probablyhim right over Penix. You think
it's over Pennis. Oh, Penixhas had a couple of games. I
think it's Penix, bow Knicks andJade Daniels your final threeka the winner of
that game is going to jump tothe forefront, is my point, because
of the of the end of thegame and if they play in the Pac
twelve champions that type of thing.Right, So either and Jade and Daniels
(02:11:46):
has played as good as any quarterbackall year long on a three loss team.
But that's the problem. But realquick, before we go to break
and we can discuss this, weget to a point, then you're gonna
ask yourself, Okay, Alabama, you beat Alabama, they're building by two
touchdowns. Texas deserves that. Look, the question is would they beat him
like that? Now? And I'mnot talking about from our stample. I'm
talking about the Committee's gonna say, well, who is their quarterback? They
(02:12:09):
were trying to find him. Regardless, you can't shrink the win, but
they're going to try to. Youwatch, Oh yeah, they're going to
try to shrink Texas win, whichthey should not do. I am not
convinced that a Big twelve champion anda one lost Georgia team if they get
beat by Alabama, I am notconvinced that that george is not the four
seed and still in Yeah, let'skeep talking about this college football playoff,
all these scenarios. Let's look atsome strength to schedules. That's next on
(02:12:33):
the Sean Salisbury Show. Oh ohhave we waited? Ba Hey, it's
Jeff Blum. You've got more.Sean Salisbury. Peck cup by leftof on
Spokes Talk seven to ninety Home ofYour Stros. I'm the fucking man downgated
(02:13:09):
Day type of money he by thehey talking to college football. Here on
the Shawn Salisbury Show, Sean Brynand TRIPOLEI discussing some of these scenarios.
So where to strike the schedule?Come in with these College Football Committee members.
So if Georgia loses in the SECChampionship to Alabama. That would shift
(02:13:33):
some things. So I was lookingat some of these wins for Georgia.
They beat number twenty Kentucky fifty oneto thirteen. They beat number twelve Missouri
thirty to twenty one. They beatnumber nine Ole, miss fifty two to
seventeen, and they beat number eighteenTennessee thirty eight to ten. So pretty
much all of their ranked all thoseranked wins, they dominated teams. Yeah,
(02:14:00):
you think so, you can makea case of the committee could possibly
put them in with one loss ifit comes down to this, Oh,
it's going to be you can makea major case and they are going to
mull it over whether Hey, we'rein Texas Country, so we think long
horns, long horns, long horns. I'm just telling you, if you're
in Tallahassee, or you're in Austin, or you're a Texas Longhorn fan,
(02:14:22):
a one lost Georgia team, ifthey get beaten a close one against Alabama,
they are going to be highly considered. They're going to do everything they
can to make a case. AndGeorge is the fourth seed you watch,
I don't know if they're going todo it and they'll get in, but
somebody's going to make a case anda lowed one for that, and there's
gonna be a lot of people thatbuy into the fact that with a one
loss they'll still be favor I'll tellyou this, give me a national title
(02:14:46):
game. Who let's say you gotGeorgia gets in with one loss and the
the four seed and they're playing Michigan. Who's a favorite Georgia. Who's the
favorite if they play Alabama in aplay in the playoff Georgia, Georgia.
Yeah, there's nobody that will bethe favorite over even with one loss if
they get into the four. AndI don't think they're going to lose in
(02:15:07):
the SEC Championship. They're going tobeat Alabama too. I believe that as
well. But if the if factor, that's what we do now at this
stage, you well, if it'slike I had one of our guys uh
tweet about the Heisman Trophy, well, you know, bow Knicks is thirty
and he's on an elite team, got all those weapons. He's not thirty,
but he's older. He's been incollege football a long time that it's
(02:15:28):
a it's not even debatable now,if I had a vote. Jade Daniels
would get my vote right now.Now. If Pennix goes thirteen and know
even though he's had a couple ofyardage games down, they'll probably give it
to him on an undefeated Top fourteam that's in the playoff and he's been
there stud the whole year. Ithink I can see how you would give
it to him. But to me, the best kind consistently, the best
football player all year, longer quarterbackhas been Jayden Daniels. But the three
(02:15:52):
losses will affect him whether we wantit to or not with Heisman voters because
out of side, out of mind, they're not playing in a significant game
right now when it to Heisman Trophyvoters. So just like you're talking about,
there people who take it into account, it is debatable. And here's
why I give you Chris Winky,I give you Brandon Wheden, right,
I give you guys that were inthat that we had been in college football
(02:16:15):
for a long time, and Winkywon the Heisman Trophy in what twenty six,
twenty seven years old. The committeedoes not care how old you are,
So that's not going to work againstbow Knicks, and neither as a
talented team. I don't know whywe were, why we're why we take
like this, like Brock Purty,we take away we diminish their skill set
(02:16:37):
by saying they're on a good team. Joe Montana, without Rice and Roger
Craig and John Taylor in that group, he wouldn't have been Joe Montana.
He'd been good, but he wouldn'thave been as good. I mean,
if you don't have Kelsey and TyreekHill at one point in time on your
team as Mahomes, if Mahomes wasin Carolina, you think they're six games
better right now? Absolutely not notthis year, not with that talent.
(02:16:58):
Now two years from now, theymay be back in the play out for
a super Bowl. But it's thesame thing here with this that George is
going to get a lot of runand Jaden Daniels probably should win the Heisman.
Don't know if he is. Withthree losses, however they do it,
but I can tell you now thata one lost Georgia team's going to
be in this mix talking about age. I'm concerned Texas is going to get
left out talking about age with thesequarterbacks in college, Cam Rising quarterback for
(02:17:24):
Utah, he announces he's coming backfor his seventh season. Yeah, but
you know what, if the rulesallow him to do it, milk it
for all you can, why wouldn'tyou give you and you're loving it,
having fun. He's a hell ofa football player. I don't hate him
for it. The rules tell himhe can, then have at it.
(02:17:45):
You know what. You know whatif you're Texas, you know what,
You're ironically rooting for the only thingyou care about right now, taking care
of your business, making sure Georgiabts Alabama, because if Georgia b's Alabama,
your final four will be Stan patPack twelve winner, Big twelve winner,
(02:18:05):
Big ten winner, SEC champion.I think Florida State gets left out
in that point. I do.Texas is a better team, and without
your quarterback you can't. Yeah,I think, Well, obviously a conference
champion is getting host here. IfGeorgia wins and they go and Alabama will
not go with the second leaf,it's especially when Texas beat them, Texas
(02:18:26):
has got a beg. Well iftech here's what happens. Georgia beats Alabama
in the SEC championship game and LouisvilleHandles handles Florida State, Stone cold lock.
You take care of bus you're in. That's what they need. It's
legitimate that it can happen with FloridaState, Louis Louisville's better without without that
quarterback at Florida State and sad thathe got hurt. But and then you
(02:18:46):
take a look at Texas and takecare of their business. Most think Georgia
is gonna beat Alabama, and ifthey do, that's the best pass for
Texas, hoping that Georgia takes careof their undefeated Seas because you don't want
two teams from the SEC that wouldscrew up Texas because the PAC twelve winners.
Going, Yeah, let's get toMike Foroe, gets to the nine
o'clock hour, Mike, good morning. Going, guys, say, real
(02:19:09):
quick, why would you take Texasif you're your first narrow Georgia over Texas.
Georgia is a two time defending nationalchampion. It's lost one time in
what thirty two tries? Thirty fourtries? And the real question I want
to ask is why would Michigan orOhio State drop out of the top four.
Let's say Ohio State goes ahead andbeach Michigan. So now Michigan's a
one loss team who has a betterloss than losing to the number two team
(02:19:33):
in the country. Well, ifMichigan Michigan, and you hope, if
you're Michigan and you beat Ohio State, Ohio State becomes a one loss team
who has a better law than abetter loss than losing to the number three
team. Well, here's the deal. Teams fall out. Here's the deal
that two teams wouldn't one would though, because first off, well would one
of them? Well, I'm goingto tell you why, because they're not.
Because if you're Texas and you gotone loss and you're the Pac twelve.
(02:19:56):
Let's say it's Oregon and you gotone loss and George's undefeated, a
one loss conference champion is going togo over a one loss Big Ten runner
up since it's not Georgia who's beenthe number one team. I get what
you're saying. If you're saying,if Florida State played at Ohio State and
they had one loss, who wouldyou pick? Of course you're taking Ohio
(02:20:16):
State. Unfortunately, somebody good's gonnaget left out. And why if it
was a flip flopped, think aboutwhat Michigan's here's why it would be Michigan
would get left out if they gotbeat. Are they still one of the
four best teams in the country.Probably, But people are going to that
this is all from a committee standpoint. Mike, you understand, just look
at the history of how they haveto go. I know there isn't That's
(02:20:37):
my point. I said that earlierabout Florida State. I don't think an
undefeated Florida State team's one of thefour best teams in the country. I
just don't, especially without their quarterback. Yet they've had a hell of a
season for me. The reason whyMichigan wouldn't go if they lost once one
is they're going to take the Committee'sgoing to say, yeah, but are
we sure they didn't cheat? That'swhat they're gonna say. And then the
other part is Michigan's schedule has beenputrid. It's it's been as easy as
(02:21:03):
it gets for the most part. Now, now lose SEC chance, I
mean Big Ten game against Ohio State. That's a big win or loss.
But that's what they'll use that againsthim. The runner up in the Big
Ten, regardless of how we feelabout how good they are, Mike,
the runner up in the Big tenis not going, and less of course
and less of course Washington loses, but then that PAC twelve goes. If
(02:21:24):
Florida State loses, Louisville's not going, If Texas loses, Big twelve will
get snubbed. And then you wouldtake possibly two SEC or two or one
Big ten team or two Big tenteams one SEC team. If Georgia beats
Alabama, that's where it comes intoplay. Other than that the runner up
in the Big ten of the Powerfive conferences, when you say the Big
(02:21:45):
twelve is probably the least strong ofthe Power five eight, I would say
that this year, I'm just goingby this year, this year packed,
this year, PAC ten, SEC, Big ten or your three best and
I think it's a debate for Bigtwelve and and uh acc I would take
(02:22:05):
the Big twelve over the ACC thisyear. I would I think that I
think of that. But you're rightabout Georgia. You're right about Georgia.
No, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just thinking from a committee standpoint.
Hell, if we're playing the fourbest teams, it doesn't matter if
Georgia gets beat by Alabama or not. And some people on the set of
college game. They said it doesn'tmatter what Georgia does, they're in,
(02:22:28):
which I'm not sure I agree with. But if they get boat raced by
Alabama, they may not be in. But do I think Georgia, no
matter what happens, is one ofthe four best teams in America and would
be favored against all the other teams. Still with one loss, I do
without a doubt, no doubt. Thanks man, Appreciate appreciating. Yeah,
it's going to be easier to keepMichigan like that out if they lose,
because they're going to say schedule yeah, and they're going to say and they're
(02:22:48):
going to say the cheating thing. It'll be easy for them to make that
excuse. Yeah, let's get tothe top of the ar keep talking college
football. That's next on Sports Talkseven ninety KB Houston, Houston, My
Heart Radios. They the Astross, the Rockets, Rockets, thaske befall your

Show. Here on a Monday morning, Shawn Salisbury, Brian A Lima,
Emmanuel Elmore Rockets and Warriors tonight nineo'clock tip off, eight o'clock to launch
(02:23:56):
pad right here on seven one ofyour home for Rockets basketball. Texans beat
the Cardinals twenty one sixteen. AaronNola returning to the Phillies on a seven
year deal for a lot of money. Good for them, dude's pretty damn
good. YEP. I got ascenario, okay, dookie that if this
happens, going to piss the worldoff other than if you're in the big
ten of the SEC. And that'sfeasible in a couple ways. I believe
(02:24:24):
Louisville is going to beat Florida State. Agree or disagree? I agree,
the acc is done. Yes,out of there, see you later.
I'm talking about for the playoff.Yes. Thinking from a committee standpoint,
Oregon plays Oregon State this week. What do we call that the Civil War.
YEP. Oregon State's capable. Yousaw how they hung in. They're
capable of beating Oregon. You doknow this. If that's the case and
(02:24:50):
they beat Oregon, Oregon obviously eliminated. Washington has what Washington State and then
the PAC twelve Championship correct? Correct? If Washington gets beat in either one
of those games and Oregon loses toOregon State, packed twelve out one loss
conference champion unless one loss conference champion. If it's Oregon and they beat Washington,
(02:25:13):
goes a one loss conference champion inWashington. If they get beat by
Washington State and or in the PACtwelve Championship, they're not going acc Pack
twelve out after all that's gone onthis year in the PAC twelve with all
those and everybody leave w out.If Texas were to get beat can't I
can't fathom it. But if theyget beat by Texas Tech or or in
(02:25:37):
the pack or in the Big twelvechampionship game, guess so that says about
the Big twelve out done. They'redone to Mike scenario. You know when
Georgia, Alabama, Michigan and OhioState go. If that scenario, I
just presented to you a one lostBig Ten team. And let's just say
Alabama wins. Now. If ifGeorgia beats Alabama, that brings one of
(02:25:58):
those other conferences back in play.I'm talking about it. Georgia beats Alabama,
then it's different. Then we're talkingthere'll be a different fourth team if
Alabama beats Georgia and Washington gets beatbetween now and then, and Oregon gets
beat by Oregon State and Louisville, which is and these are very realistic.
(02:26:20):
This is hey, they're playing.Washington is playing a two win team in
their own Billy, these are veryOregon States a hell of a team.
Washington State's quarterback and the way theyplay, they can throw for four hundred
yards on you in the blink ofan eye, and the police they bring
out some crazy stuff. And Louisville'sbetter than Florida State without the quarterback.
(02:26:41):
In my opinion, they're playing greatfootball. Brom's the Coach of the Year
candidate. And if Texas got beatin one of these games, you're going
to get the loser of the BigTen championship game. Both are in Ohio
State and Michigan. And if Alabamabeat Georgia, Alabama and Georgia go that
(02:27:01):
scenario, you would have two conferencesrepresented by four teams and three conferences would
be left out. And that isa fact, and that's a real scenario
that could happen. It's not well, every team. I'm not so sure.
Louisvill's not. I think Louisville's goingto be favored this week. If
not, it's going to be apick them. You're talking about the inside
of the field goal. Yeah, but it has to be. Jordan Travis
is out, no question. AndLouisville's playing damn good football right now,
(02:27:24):
the number nine in the nation.I'm just telling they found they're in the
a SEC Championship. They're not gettingin. No, and Washington can lose
to Washington State or in the PACtwelve championship game. And Oregon very very
simply could be beat by Oregon State. And again the Oregon State's given everybody
hell yeah. Now, while Idon't think Texas Tech's going to beat Texas,
you never know on a crazy day. And then now when it gets
(02:27:46):
to the Big twelve championship game, anything's alive and well, right, yeah,
that's a scenario and it does exist. And it is big the hell.
The toughest task may beat Alabama, beat in Georgia. But if Alabama
beats Georgia, and of the scenarioI just presented, you're going to have
two conferences represent four teams. AndI guarantee that happens if that's the case.
(02:28:07):
So the easiest scenario is Georgia beatsAlabama, They're in for who Texas?
Yeah, for Texas. Georgia beatsAlabama, they're in. Washington wins,
Washington wins, They're in whoever winsOhio State, Michigan, they're in.
It could and then that that wouldbump Texas up and you and all
you ought to do is hope thatLouisville beats Florida State. Right. If
Louisville beats Florida State, Texas isautomatic in if they go and win.
(02:28:30):
Yeah, right, I'm not sosure. I'd keep if both Texas And
here's the problem with the Texas FloridaState thing, though, if Washington runs
the table, here's the problem withTexas Florida State. If Florida State does
win without their quarterback and beats Louisvilleand Texas beats what's a bigger win Florida
(02:28:52):
State beating the ninth rank team ina country without their quarterback, or Texas
beating Texas Tech. Oh, it'sFlorida State without their quarterback. So guess
what the Committee is gonna say. They will give Florida State that fourth nod.
They you know this right, eventhough Florida State ain't beaten Texas,
(02:29:16):
so they would they would still giveit to Florida State undefeated, undefeated conference
champion. The Committee would lean there, and Palm thinks that's the case.
You think Florida State's going regardless.I just don't think Florida State. I
mean, if they beat Louisville,Louisville is gonna win that game, and
then Texas all they got to dois take care of their business, arrest
the way, and hope Washington andGeorgia win. Because I think the Committee
(02:29:39):
if Oregon, if it gets allthese scenarios, if Oregon beats wins in
the PAC twelve champion gets there andwins the Pac twelve championship, I think
that Oregon's gonna go Washington. Texaswants Washington to go undefeated, if that
makes sense, and then Florida Stateto get beat by Louisville and they're in
Wow, I think, unless,of course they love Georgia to the point
(02:30:01):
of got to put them in.But even then Michigan Alabama. No,
yeah, Georgia is still the wildcard in this with one loss. If
it happens things that could get chaotic. Yeah, well I don't see how
they're not gonna be chaotic. Andthe worst scenario for everybody would be the
one I presented. That's real thatfour teams from two conferences go Big ten
(02:30:24):
and SEC. You don't want tosee that, No, they know you
don't want to see that. Absolutelynot right. No, I don't want
to see that. But yet,in a world where we have seen Oregon
State give people fits, the damnear took down Washington this past weekend and
it was an ugly, ugly environment. Or does that game played next week
(02:30:45):
Washington State? I mean Oregon,Oregon State, Washington and Washington State.
What venues are they being played? So Oregon, let me get this one
real quick. Oregon and Oregon State? Is this we can and I believe
you just up in Eugene. Yeah, it's in Eugene, Oregon favorite and
(02:31:07):
now in Washington Washington State. Letme pull that up Washington State. Let's
see. Of course, two secondsthey're at Washington. Okay, so both
Washington and Washington and Oregon will havean advantage in their building. It would
(02:31:28):
take a hell of an effort byboth those teams to win on the road
against two really good teams. Yeah, crazy scenario, but could happen.
Yeah, could happen. Can't wait? Can't wait till they expand to a
bigger team playoffs? Yep'd be great. Let's keep talking football. Who's leading
(02:31:50):
the Heisman? Is it Jayden Daniels, is it Bo Nicks? Michael Pennix?

Rockets basketball. Texans beat the Cardinalstwenty one sixteen. Aaron Nola returning the
Phillies on a seven year deal.Well, you're getting crunk over here.
No, I'm just two chains andnothing wrong with getting crunkda oh yeah,
oh yeah, you're picking up overBut our people are we still calling it
getting crunked? The still kids stillsaying that. You know what, it's
the third time this morning. Let'sgo to our resident streets insider triple E.
(02:34:28):
Manny, are they still saying gettingcrunkd We do not say that anymore.
I think that's I think that's Ithink that's just played out as honestly,
I think that's lit. I thinkit's just played out as uh,
what better recognized, not recognized? What's the other one we said recognized?
No, remember we said, isthat played out? So they say it
anymore? I'll get to step in, Yeah, get to step in.
All right, Well, let metell you what. We had a caller.
(02:34:52):
Okay, we're gonna get crunked fora second. All right, let's
get lit. We had a callerthey didn't want to come on, just
wanted to say, Okay, hewants to know about the Michigan Ohio State
scenario. How they get in.Well, here's how Florida State loses to
Louisville, Alabama beats Georgia. Okay, that means Alabama is a guarantee in.
Nobody from the ACC is going. If Louisville beats Florida State, eliminate
(02:35:16):
the ACC. If Washington loses thisweek or in the Pac twelve Championship,
they're out. If Oregon gets beatthis week, they're out. If Oregon
goes to the Pack twelve Championship andplays Washington and Washington beats them, well,
then guess what Washington's in. IfOregon has two losses, which they
(02:35:39):
play Oregon State, could happen. If Washington gets beat by either Washington State
or in the PAC twelve Championship game, the PAC twelve is out. If
Texas were to get beat by TexasTech or in the Big twelve Championship game,
they're out and no Big twelve teamsgoing to me. The only scenario
(02:36:01):
that you can get to both Michiganand Ohio State in playing each other in
the next week or this coming week, and then in the playoff is if
Alabama beach Georgia and Texas Pac twelveand acc all lose, lose right between
now and then we're Washington, We'reOregon in Washington lose another game, Yeah,
(02:36:26):
Washington one game, Oregon another one. If Texas gets beats in either
one of these next two games, and if now there's other scenarios that may
keep the Florida State out, ifthey even go undefeated, Florida State gets
beat by Louisville, then you wouldhave Michigan Ohio State and a one lost
Georgia team would still go, anda one loss Ohio State team, assuming
it was Michigan and beat him, they'd still go, or vice versa.
That's how you get four teams fromtwo conferences and all four of these all
(02:36:52):
three of those other conference. Louisvilleover Florida State's a bitch for Florida State.
No quarterback Washington play in Washington State. That so that Apple Cups always
all over the map, The CivilWars always all over the map, with
Oregon State and Oregon because they're good. Both of those are at home for
those two teams, and hell, who knows what if Texa Texas were thrown
at sixty times could or what if? In I mean, we're not going
(02:37:15):
to shake a stick at the packat the Big twelve Championship game. There's
possibilities in that one, too far. I mean, is it far fetched?
Not far fetch, But it's along shot because I don't think Alabama
of all that it's beating Georgia. If Texas takes care of their business and
the PAC twelve and the ACC don't, Texas is in, Georgia'd be in,
(02:37:35):
Alabama'd be in, and the Bigten winner would be in. Does
that make sense? There's still thatchance that Georgia's still got a full blown,
legitimate chance if they lose. Yeah, And that Texas Tech Texas game
is in Austin, so I wouldsay it could be a tricky game if
they were playing in Lubbock. Oregon, Washington and Texas all home, and
so that's a major advantage for allthree programs. But for Texas, you're
(02:37:58):
hoping that that Washington beats Oregon orWashington goes undefeated and wins the PAC twelve.
Yep, and you're hoping that Georgiabeats Alabama and Louisville takes on.
If Louisville beats Florida State, there'sa legitimate dent. Texas is probably gonna
walk in. Then they get in. But Georgia and they take care,
they're Georgia. If they don't takecare of their business and get be by
(02:38:18):
field goal against Alaberta, there's stillthat talk that they're in. I'm just
telling I think Georgia win's by ten, right, and they may be favored
by double digits. Who knows, hard to believe, but they may be.
Yeah. Let's go to the phoneline seven, one, three,
two and two five seven. Istart with q Q, good morning,
good morning Sells. How y'all doing? Good? Man? Hey, I
have a scenario. I mean,I understand the colleges having mid turns and
(02:38:43):
finals and all that in the bowlsystem. How vable that is, But
would it be plausible to have likewhen they go instead of going to twelve,
go to sixteen teams and have twobrackets of eight, you know,
like one in sixteen and then twoand five brackets and go all the way
(02:39:05):
down and just you know, aslack in basketball. Once the committee gives
you the sixteen teams and they putthem in those brackets and those rankings,
then you know we're going to geta true national championship, you know,
because they're going to have to playeach other. And how many times have
we seen bowl games where we seea team, you know, that might
(02:39:26):
not have made it to the finalfour, but they were playing at the
top of their game at the endof the year and they possibly could have
beat the national championship. But mywhole point is if they would make it
sixteen and just put two brackets ofeight and one play sixteen, and three
played fourteen, and vice versus allacross the board, then you would get
(02:39:48):
a true national championship. And oncethe committee gave you the rankings, every
man for theselfant guard for us allafter that. Yep, great point,
a lot of pius. Yeah,Q, I think that's a great point.
On No, I think that someare going to feel and I'm with
you, it's pretty sick. Itseems simple to me, right it seems
like that should be pretty damn simple. But here's the problem is I think
(02:40:09):
that right now that some would feeland I know some of my friends in
the college football world think that's toowatered down that the sixteenth ranked team in
college football be equivalent of like aten seed in college basketball winning the title.
It's not just one game because thesixteen seed could beat the one seed
in one game. We've seen it, what once or twice in the history
(02:40:31):
in college basketball in the tournament wheresixteen's beaten one a couple times less than
five I think three times, whateverit's been that in this case, the
sixteenth ranked team, Okay, youbeat one, then you got to go
win again, then you got Eventually, the sixteenth team is not going to
beat the one seed, the fourseed three I mean most likely, right,
you'd have to go on one hellof a run because of the physicality
(02:40:54):
that comes with the depth of afootball team. I get what you're saying,
but sixteen, the chances are you'reprobably some would think that's water down,
that there's no way the sixteenth rankedteam is going to go win four
games or whatever it takes to winit. All. Right, Okay,
so that's one. But I doagree with you, like, hey,
one through sixteen two versus I getit seems like that would be simple because
(02:41:15):
I think the top eight teams, top ten teams, There is a legitimate
chance. I think when you getto sixteenth, depth becomes a little bit
of a problem. Like if myteam at SC was sixteenth, theme running
through it because their defense isn't goodenough, or any of those teams.
So but it can it could happen. We just don't see ten seeds in
college basketball winning tournaments very often, right, I'm talking about winning six to
(02:41:37):
be the national champion. Could happen, but I think the watered down part
has something to do with it.But I'm with you, Q. You'd
find a true national champion because you'dhave to, and don't worry about the
academic part of it. Here's whyyou'd start sometime like the in like the
teams or the twenties for starting thetournament, right, they're out of school
and they don't go Most of thoseschools don't go back till mid to late
(02:41:58):
change, I mean teenth of January. We do it in college basketball,
Why the hell can't we do itin football. I don't think it's that
big a deal that they can.Well, the kids in their school,
well guess what kids give kids morecredit than that they know what to adjust
to it. Matter of fact,a lot of them do better when they're
busier. And the truth is forthat twenty five days or whatever, you're
for the most part, you're outof school anyway. Yeah, so to
(02:42:22):
me that that can no longer bethe excuse you want to say and don't
tell me, well, it's healthrelated, because you really don't care that
much about the health of the player, or you wouldn't be playing four hundred
thousand games and in the NFL youwouldn't be playing on a Sunday then on
a Thursday again. So I thinkthey care, but money is where it
all comes from. Yeah, sixteenand one would be fun to watch,
but I don't know if we're goingto get to sixteen we may some will
(02:42:43):
think it's watered down. Yeah,I believe it would be a little bit
watered down. Let's look at theHeisman race. Is Jayden Daniels got a
chance, even with three losses totalk about an exce on Sportstock seven to
aety my pillow, get a goodnight's rest, that'll help, and then
when you get a shower, ifyou'd like some really cool time and really
that they're really absorbent, you'll lovethis. Hey, it's Sean here,
(02:43:05):
and you know that I love themy Pillow products and their pillows, they're
sheets, their slippers, and they'vecreated the best now and most luxurious and

get paid for a pro tip fromHouston's official Listen while scrubbing your butt morning
sports show Talking college football, gota bunch of different scenarios that we've been
(02:44:37):
going through and there's one that quitefrankly, we haven't looked at just yet.
Sean, Yeah, our call arealso in that Big Ten aside from
Michigan, Ohio state. He wantedto know listen, watching iowall play football
offensively is about as is that they'reawful offensively, but their win it's just
(02:45:00):
there's such a bad watch when itcomes to offense. They play good physical
defense and they are keep the scorelow. His question was, what if
Iowa wins the Big Ten championship, meaning the winner of this game. Iowa
goes and wins this week, andthen Iowa they played Nebraska, they should
beat Nebraska. Iowa's playing Michigan OhioState. It doesn't matter what Iowa does.
(02:45:24):
They've got two losses already, Atwo loss team that can't score twenty
points. You'd be more app totake the team that I know it's not
gonna happen. I'd be more apptto take the team that got beat by
Iowa in the Big Ten Championship gamebefore I'd take Iowa. The committee,
(02:45:45):
there is no way on God's greenearth put it this way. If Georgia
loses to Alabama and Iowa wins theBig Ten Championship game, george is going
before Iowa goes. Yeah. Absolutely, regardless of the other three powerful conferences.
The only representative, the only waythe Big Ten's got a representative in
(02:46:05):
this, and rightfully so is ifMichigan or Ohio State win and go to
the Big Twelve, go to thewin the Big Ten Championship game. A
two loss Iowa team that beat well, they beat Michigan or House. It
won't matter. No two loss teamsgetting in this year. None, There's
no two loss team getting in thefinal four this year, it's not gonna
happen. At this stage of thegame, Iowa has no shot to get
(02:46:30):
in. Yeah, I was leadingthe West Division in the Big Ten.
They're six and two. Uh,they're gonna get the Big Ten championsh game,
but then they're not getting in atten. They go to ten and
two, and then they go elevenand two. With the winning the Big
Ten championship game, you're going tobe more Listen, I'd take Louisville over
Iowa. If Louisville wins, andwe say nobody from the Big TWI from
(02:46:50):
the ACC is going I'll take theACC winner of Louisville before I'll take the
Big Ten winner. If it's Iowa, I just will not because Louisville would
have an argument too. Right,Well, we beat Florida State, their
top four team, and Iowa beatMichigan or Ohio State in the Big Ten
championship game. There, I justcan't looking from it. I can't do
(02:47:11):
it. Two lost teams too,I cannot do it. Can't do it.
So Iowa's got no shot to getinto the Big Ten chain unless they
win fifty six to three over theBig Ten other side with the Eastern,
the east side of the East. That's not happening. The truth is a
Big ten, and all these conferencesin truth at some point need to do
(02:47:31):
this. Your two best play getrid of the divisions and the sec now
because of the depth of one sideor the other. But in the Big
Ten right now, you would ratherhave Michigan Ohio State repeating after this week,
You'd rather have both of those playingback in the Big Ten championship game.
Like the PAC two just finally saidno, we can't go south north.
Let's just the two best teams inthe PAC twelve are going. And
(02:47:54):
I think that the Big Ten wouldbe better served to do that because Iowa
was not even in this argument. You can't stand up and vote for Iowa
at nine and two. Watching whatthey do this year is much respect I
have for Kirk Farns and Iowa's programand great fan base, what a great
place to go watch a game. But this year nine and two doesn't matter
if they win, they're not going. Yeah, two lost teams not getting
in. Let's keep talking to someof these scenarios with our listeners. Seven
(02:48:16):
one, three, two and twofive seven os go to Bill, Bill
appreciate you holding on what's going on? Man, I would rather run my
shin into a trailer hitch than watchIowa play football, especially offensive football.
You are one correct brother, yeah, man, and we all know running
your shin into a trailer hitch isnot not fun. It's not fun at
(02:48:37):
all. No, Seana got awhat if for you? Okay, it's
not cops. It can't happen ifLouisville doesn't stub its toe after clobber and
Notre Dame and then losing the pitpit Yes, next week. What would
you do with an unbeaten Louisville teamthat ends by beating Florida State and would
(02:48:58):
be end up in an unbeaten teamthey would be in. They would be
in if Louisville hammers Florida State andwould not and they would have taken care
of their business against Pitt. Yeah, Louisville would be in as an undefeated
team in the ACC. Hell, plus, we're already talking that Florida State's
going to be in the Only strikeagainst Louisville right now if they had taken
(02:49:20):
care of their business against Pitt isthe fact that you beat Florida State without
their starting quarterback, that would bethe gripe and the complaint. But if
Louisville would have hammered Pitt and yougo in there, let's say, even
without their quarterback, you beat FloridaState thirty seven seventeen, Louisville would have
a legitimate gripe. The problem is, Louisville, you realize in the conference
(02:49:43):
are in and what's going on,and you probably need to go undefeated in
the ACC this year. Getting beatby Pitt, They're going to go back
and look at this after they probablydo beat Florida State, I would think,
and you're gonna say, that couldhave been us, and that put
that puts Brahm and j Fish, who's at Arizona as the top two candidates
for the national Coach of the Yearin college football? Arizona has no business?
(02:50:05):
Yeah, And then and would haveput Louisville in a great position.
They got themselves to blame by lettingPitt beat him. What was that?
Bill? Just say, well, doesn't that put Tech? Wouldn't that have
wouldn't that have put Texas and orOregon Washington winner in peril? Then?
Oh? Yeah, if if Louisville, Yeah, if Louisville because you'd get
the Big ten winner. Let's sayit's Michigan the SEC champion, if it's
(02:50:28):
Georgia, and then you would getIf Louisville were to do what you said,
which is impossible now because they alreadylost a pitt that would put then
you'd go back into the PAC twelveBig twelve champion to get in. But
you'd also have to deal with ifGeorgia lost to Alabama. I can't emphasize
(02:50:48):
enough. If Alabama loo beats Georgiain a close game, how how much
in play Georgia still is. Yes, you're exactly right. So Texas is
grateful because in truth, they're they'recounting on Louisville to go beat Florida State,
take care of their business, andif they do that in Alabama gets
beat by Georgia, Texas is inbecause Alabama will not go with two losses.
(02:51:09):
That's exactly right. Good stuff, guys, Thank you, Bill,
appreciate it. Let's get out toMost City. Talk to Renfro. Renfro,
good morning, Good morning, gentlemen. Look you let me switch the
subject and go to cj uh andSean. I just want you to tell
me your opinion on this watching thegame yesterday and when the Texas was in
(02:51:33):
position to at least put three onthe board. Several times they was in
position to put three on the board. Is this way you think coaching comes
in and CJ has to be coacheddown to the point of you're not in
college now. You don't have togo for the home run. The only
thing you can do now is wecan make it a two point three point
game. Just preserve protecting the footballand not trying to you know, just
(02:51:58):
try and just go for the homerun. So what your opinion on what
we saw from that yesterday? Renfro, great point. We had to ride
up earlier in the show about asimilar circumstance. I think it was al
right. I want to know aboutbeing less aggressive. You know, you
can't wait and redfrobicks a good point, But you can't really win for losing
or lose for win or whatever itis, win for losing, because had
they had just played for field goal. What do we always say in the
(02:52:18):
past year, why are we playingit so safe? We got a quarterback,
put the ball in his hand,he's our best play. Let's go
attack. But Renfro, I thinkyour point is yes, you know how
good CJ. Stroud is. Butif it's not unequivocally open, just don't
force it. Throw the ball outof the back of the end zone and
let us go kick a field goaland take points. Yes, now,
(02:52:39):
I don't have a problem sending aloud message to your foot. It's not
even for the other team. Ihave never had a problem sending a loud
message to my football team. Itrust you. We are going for this
on fourth and one at the thirtytwo yard line because we got a great
quarterback and we are going to movethis pile regardless of the play call.
I'd rather err on the side ofaggressiveness and the air on the side of
(02:53:03):
being passive every day because then ittells me you do trust your quarterback is
going to make the right decision. And I missed a couple yesterday and now
afterwards. It's easy for all ofus, and you're right ren for to
say let's just get that three. That's incumbent. Yes. On coaching to
instill in his quarterback, you don'thave to be hero syndrome every time we're
in the red zone. We dohave to come away. You can't turn
(02:53:24):
it over a sex three points isthe worst we can do once we get
down in that area, no doubt, And that just comes from growing as
a quarterback, being aggressive but judiciouswith it. So I can't fit it
in there, Boom throw it outsometimes the best playing football throwing out of
the back of the end zone andlest then we'll tee it up. Now
on fourth down, you're trying tomake a play. I get that.
(02:53:45):
I think there's a message with Stroudand slow I mean with slow akan Demiko.
They do not want other teams tothink they're just going to play it
safe. Safe is different than scared, and I think they're playing aggressive.
But if it came down to it, if that was is that you're down
by two, of course they're kickinga field goal. I think you're trying
to put teams away and send amessage. And it also tells me that
(02:54:05):
he trusted his defense is going toget off the field. So there's a
message here that I like. Now, you just your quarterback and Bobby Slowe
have to have that conversation of dude, if it's not there, it's okay,
we're going to get another shot. You're a great player. You can't
hit the bank post every time. You don't have to be a hero within
your natural ability. We will score, but I am always aggressive first,
(02:54:28):
then save second. Just don't playscared, but don't play stupid. That's
what you can't do, especially nextweek and against good teams in January.
If you get there. CJ.Stroud and Steph Curry? What do they
have in common? That's next?On Sports Talk seven ninety. Why isn't
the rat race more racy? Strutching? Completely shutting down to Southwest streetway back
(02:54:50):
anyway? Enjoy your time and crawlingthrough Houston Road construction with more shown.
Salzburg on Sports Talk seven ninety Alittle bit, yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeahyeah yeah yeah. How much you know
(02:55:22):
about this, don't you? Howmuch? Sean? How much money you
gosh? How much money I doknow about it? Yeah? A lot?
How many got you know who thisis? How many products you got?
A lot? A lot? Idon't know who it is? Who
is it? Twenty one Savage?Yeah that correct, that's right, trivile
in it? Yep, that iscorrect? Yeah great, I do now
(02:55:43):
I don't know who the cut is. I know, I know the song
I didn't know, so yeah,what do c J. Stroud and Steph
Curry have in common. Take theshot, shoot or shoot shooter, Shoot
in the veins. CJ. Shroudafter the game, saying, Steph Curry,
don't ever stop shoot. I'm gonnakeep letting it ride. Keep what
(02:56:03):
good players do. Don't get scared. Shoot baby by dog man. He
ain't scared. I have a questionfor you. It's here's an interesting question.
It's really not that interesting. Doyou want to talk Heisman the U
T I tease twice, yes,and my question is in theory, Jaden
Daniels is leading the way for theHeisman. However, he's been the best
(02:56:26):
football player week in and week outall year long, but three losses hide
him down the stretch. So thatwas However, However, the three losses,
it's gonna work against him sadly.Right now, right now, November
twentieth, twenty twenty three, whois your Heisman winner? You're asking me
(02:56:48):
who i'd vote for today? Correct, Jadan Daniels. It's been a best
player. I didn't know what theaward said, best player on best team.
If Jade Daniels had Michigan's defense,he this conversation would be over.
He's played phenomenal football. Now,Pennix has had a couple of Gotti,
a couple of games where his statshaven't been gotti. If they go undefeated
(02:57:11):
and he throws a party on WashingtonState and they're undefeated in the final four,
he's got still legitimate. I thinkit's a three horse race. Now.
I know that there's some defensive players, and I know that you think,
well, this will be a goodyear to mix in a Marvin Harrison.
There's some other guys deserving, butit's become a quarterback award unless the
running back runs for twenty two hundredyards right I to me, it's down
(02:57:37):
to three, regardless of age orhow long they've been in school. It's
Pennix and Bo Nixon Pac twelve andit's Jade Daniels. Daniel's strike against him
is going to be they got threelosses and they're not going to be playing
in that significant moment that like OhioState and Michigan are going to be playing
in. I think it's sneaky whenCarson Beck's played frigging great football this year,
(02:57:58):
but enough pub on the Heisman train. That'll be his next year going
in He'll be a top five candidateyou watch top three candidate who shines.
Bo Nicks and Pennicks are going toget a bigger chance to shine on a
bigger stage than Jade Daniels. Butif we're just talking who the best football
(02:58:18):
player's been week in and week outall year long, Jade Daniels at LSU
has been the best player. Iwould vote for him today, But the
Heisman does it end today. Soif Pennix goes and throws for three forty
and they win, be Washington Stateand they're they're the Pac twelve champions and
undefeated, then he is has beenthe best player or one of them on
(02:58:41):
the best team in the country, whether we think that should come into player
or not. Some Heisman voters rightnow, there are some Heisman voters,
I guarantee you, and I thinkit's shameful because if you have a vote,
you should be watching these candidates threeand four and five and six times
on tape. When the seed beforeyou cast your vote say well, I
didn't get to see him on theWest coast because I'm on the East coast,
then you need to take tape andgo watch, because that's a respa.
(02:59:03):
If not, then maybe we shouldgive your vote to somebody else.
Yeah, I think I hate whenpeople say that about West Coast players.
Oh he's not on the in thespotlights, then get what you're a voter
as the tape. Go get thetape and watch him, and go watch
the see if I had a votebet out, I'd go take the top
five candidates and watch them all fouror five big games and see how they
(02:59:24):
played in big moments and do itand cast my vote for the best player
in the best moments. But thereality is three, Well, he's the
odds on favorite now Jayden Daniels win. I think Vegas has him. The
problem is you're going to get somevoter who says, well, they have
three losses that they can't he can'twin the Heisman, which is not fair
to him because he doesn't make tackleson defense. He's been the best player
(02:59:46):
the entire season. He just has. But I think we're all waiting for
one more Heisman moment and those othertwo guys are going to get a bigger
chance to flash it. Unfortunately, but now if they both play average,
Daniels can steal this with three losses, and I don't even think it's stealing
on his part, he's been great. But I'm talking about in the voter's
minds because there are some people Iguarantee you this year have not watched Pennick
(03:00:09):
or jade Daniels play twice. That'scrazy. Which they should vote, That's
exactly right. They should have avote. If they say, well,
you're in the he's in the business, he's a broadcaster. Great, then
here's what you need to do.Take the tape when you're flying to your
next game at home. Do whatyou do. It's a responsibility. It
matters to these guys, Heisman Trophywinner forever, just like a Hall of
Fame winner. They could take whateverthey want. They don't get that,
(03:00:31):
for that moment in time, youwere the best player on the planet in
your sport, at your in whetherit's college or the NFL. Take it
serious. And I think they allshould because in truth, Jadeen Daniels has
been the best player. I stillthink even though the odds favor him,
I think that Pennis and bow Knicksare going to get a better chance to
have a Heisman moment. If thatmakes sense. Now, what if Michigan
(03:00:54):
comes up. Let's say jade Danielshas a decent game in his final one,
and Pennix and bow Knicks both playedpretty good. But Marvin Harrison has
twelve catches for one hundred and ninetyseven yards against Michigan in two Touchdownsol,
this is the chance when you couldactually give it to somebody else. Yeah,
wow, oh there you go.You know what bo Nix's completion percentages
(03:01:15):
this year, it's like pushing eightyseventy eight. Yeah. You know what
Jayden Daniels is, it's close seventythree. Yeah. Look at Jade Daniel's
feet. Dude too. What he'sdone doing well, I don't know what
it is, but I'll tell youwhat he's playing like your size fifty.
Yeah, I mean those are bigshoes to fill. The guy has been
and every from last year to thisyear, and his deep ball throwing has
gotten so much better. You're gonnahave a hard time not he'll be there.
(03:01:39):
I'll tell you who's gonna be there. Probably man, probably like a
Marvin here if he steps up againstMichigan. I'm just telling you Harrison,
Nix, Pennix, and probably andJade Daniels are going to be in New
York. These numbers that I'm aboutto read to you are pretty crazy.
Jayden Daniels thirty six touchdowns, fourinterceptions. He's been sacked twenty times.
(03:02:03):
Us but how many rushing yards?I'm just doing total total touchdowns, I
said rushing. I'm sorry rushing,so I'm not okay. These are passing
yards, yes, and passing statistics. He's thrown thirty six touchdowns, picked
off four times, sacked twenty boNicks thirty five touchdowns, two interceptions.
He's been sacked just five times.Let's go to h rushing for Jade and
(03:02:26):
Daniels. Let's see so that's hangon. So Jade Daniels thirty six touchdowns
throwing the football, dude, thesenumbers are are are pretty gaudy, and
of course I'm let's see statistics.Come on now, love doing this live
on air. By the way,it's good stuff. Rushing the football.
(03:02:54):
He has ten touchdowns for how manyyards? One and fourteen rushing? Yes,
find me somebody who's played better.I could argue that him being on
a lesser team makes him even morevaluable because that defense has been an amateur
hour most of the year. Whenhe runs the football, he's averaging eight
(03:03:15):
yards of carry. We haven't hada better player in the country this year.
Whether he wins it or not,we'll see. Wow, three losses
will unfortunately come into play. ButI haven't seen him, and I've watched
him play a lot this year.I haven't seen a better player in America
with both his legs and in hisarm. I just haven't. Yeah,
I think that three losses, man, that's could keep him from winning that
(03:03:39):
Heisman, even though those numbers arepretty friggin specially he posted, he's posted
his score. Yeah, no question, no question about it. That's gonna
do it. For the Seawan SalisburyShow, he is Seawan Salisbury. Our
producer Emmanuel Elmore. I am Brianli Lima. Thank you for listening.
