Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury ol By, Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Shawn Salisbury, there to usc truth.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Shawn Salsbury Show.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Astros re engage with talks with their former third Basement
Alex Bregman, Astros and Cubs discussing the potential Ryan Presley trade,
Texans parting ways with their team president. Also, we got
the AFC and NFC Championship games on Sunday this weekend.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Sewn Tripley was happening. Good morning, good morning, what's up?
Good morning, good morning.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
I like that energy by Tripley gave us a good morning,
good morning, like it. How are we doing? Man, ain't
nothing about the rant dollars. Put my resume in for
the President of the Texans.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yeah, there you go. Yeah, it's kind of uh uh
shocking news resume resume, Uh you got you just does
the president.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
It felt like the President of the Texans was more
involved in community relations than judge judge by the way
they put the job title than it was. And like,
is is he making personnel decisions?

Speaker 6 (01:21):
You know?

Speaker 5 (01:22):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Doesn't seem like I don't know how how that is
these days. But uh had a good run, Greg Grissom. Yeah, yeah,
So it's.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
Kind of direction they're headed in and where he's good
luck to Greg, Houston Texas and things. Things have changed
in the front office there this this franchise has looked
at completely different over the last three years.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Amicably parting ways there you go. It was the official language,
good word amicable in their press release when it's amicable.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Yeah it you know, Hey, everybody's happy, everybody's everybody's good
with it, are they? But let's just you know, I mean,
good run and that they The reputation of this organization
has changed. It really has over the last three years,
and that's a good thing. So Greg did a good
job and we'll see what's next for the Texans and
what direction they go.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
He was with the organization for twenty five years, in
the last four were spent as the president. He said,
hell run, that's a really really good run, he said, quote.
Leading the Houston Texans business operations has been the opportunity
of a lifetime. After almost twenty five years with the Texans,
including the last four as president, I feel it's the
right time to embrace new challenges and opportunities. I want

(02:29):
to thank Janis McNair and Callan Hanna McNair for their
support and the opportunity to lead this organization. And then
he goes on to thank the fans so forth and
so on. So that's from Greg Grissom and then coming
from CEO Cal mcnaarry, he said, quote, we wanted to
thank Greg for his contributions to the organizations since he

(02:52):
became our team president in twenty twenty one. Greg helped
me implement numerous initiatives to help our organization feel to see,
evolve and grow in many ways, which we are very
thankful for. We wish Greg and his family all the
best in the future, and we will provide updates regarding
the team's next president in the coming days.

Speaker 7 (03:07):
End.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Quote could be Sean Salisbury, who knows.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
I haven't got my interview request. So I've got my
interview requests. You know, I've got a master's I've got
I've done the take of the steps sport management.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Mediation. Isn't it a mediation? I can negotiate?

Speaker 7 (03:25):
There?

Speaker 1 (03:25):
You go get in there, man, Wait on, you know,
certified mediator. But who's counting?

Speaker 4 (03:30):
You know what I'm saying, right, I heard they don't
like agagrads there though, so sorry.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
That's okay. I mean, listen, you got to be able
to compartmentalize a lot. Where you come from, where you
go to school has nothing to do with how I'm
gonna handle your business in the front office, masters.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Mediators, I can negotiate.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
I can and and did all the qualifications that's there
to be an a D or a GM or president.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Right, Yeah, there you go. So what do we do
put the resume? Yeah, Kirby's right down the road.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Can I still do the show? Thinks to right? Yeah,
I still do the show. A good pr for this, yeah, right?
Could be yeah, I don't know if they would or not.
I haven't heard from him though.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
You haven't.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
No, your bat phone hasn't gone on, that has not
gone off, has not gone off.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I don't know what what are they doing then?

Speaker 5 (04:14):
I don't know, but i'd take an interview for a
team president job. Yeah, it would be fun.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Yeah, it's like Bobby Slovak not taking a or taken
head coaching job.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Coach it out.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I wonder what direction really they're gonna go. Yeah, I'm
I'm curious, man. This is something I didn't see coming.
I don't think anybody did outside of Callan Hannah and
maybe a few others deep in the organization. But you know,
when you when you first see it, Ian Rappaport and
National NFL insider, he's the one to drop the news.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
When you see you think, oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
But then when you really kind of look into it,
it's like, all right, maybe he was more on the
business side of things rather than the player side of things.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
I don't think that he was doing I don't just
from my from vantage point how I read it and
read between the lines of a job title, it feels
to me like wasn't involved in a lot of the
football personnel decisions, but a lot of the business interests
and initiatives to you know, grow business and community relations

(05:10):
and all that. I almost feel like that was more involved. Yeah,
less of the Nick Cassario type stuff and the scouting department,
pro personnel in college and scouting and evaluating talent and
that kind of stuff. Be interested to see where they go.
And I'm sure that. I'm sure I'll get a call
today requesting an interview.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Aren't you you.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Still got your agent or you no, I've had him
for years. Hell Walter since nineteen ninety five named Walter, Steve,
Steve Steven you gotta go formal Stephen Mandel out of Chicago.
I've had him, honestly down nineteen ninety five. Soid Suburbs guys. Yeah,

(05:53):
smart Suburbs guy. Really good dude though, had him for
a long since, since I started in this career. Really yeah,
same guy, man, same guy friend, No, thirty years sorry,
the same guy. So yeah, I'm sure we'll get a
call the requests in an interview, and I may or
may not.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Do you want me to triple to come?

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I love you guys too, Yeah, I love you guys
to come you come on, come on, love you guys
to show up, show up. Yeah, I love you guys
to show that.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
But I'm sure by the end of the show they'll
probably be a request, don't you think.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
I would think? So, yeah, we'll man the phones. Don't worry.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
We'll check your email for you, because you know, maybe
they'll send it to your to your work email.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Well, don't send it there. I may not see it
for nine months. Okay, So that's.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Exactly.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
If you send me something to the company email, like
three months ago, I haven't seen. It's not not ignoring you.
I just did never see it. Okay, you just had
to send it to my personal email. But I I
just that that's where I get yeah, all my stuff. Sorry,
I'm sure. I mean you know, masters did I who's count?
It's like, what have I? I got a master's degree

(07:06):
of mediator certificate?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
You know. I guess I better put them to work
a little side stuff.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Yeah, you know yesterday, you remember when you asked me about, uh,
if you didn't have radio or coaching, what would you do?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
And we talked about like construction and yeah, like what
you want to do? Right?

Speaker 4 (07:21):
You know people asked me about that that specific part
of the conversation yesterday. It's so weird when people listen
to us, like the selective hearing things that they want
to hear. Yeah, yeah, I got asked it at the gym.
I got asked at baseball practice, and then there was
one other that asked me about it.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Well you still do you said? Would you end up
saying no? They were like, are you leaving?

Speaker 7 (07:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Going go? What was that called?

Speaker 5 (07:43):
What when nobody said anything about leaving? Yeah, it was
just simple if you weren't doing what you're doing. Now,
what else would you leave? Like we were talking about
hobbies or when you got downtime, Like is there a
book you read that enhances what you want to do
as an entrepreneur a business person. What I've just to
always believe that extra stream to income and other interests

(08:04):
could make you more valuable, create more valuable to you
in anywhere? Is that if well, for instance, Greg Grissom
then there twenty years, then a president for what three
or four years?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Twenty five years with the Texans for four.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Years as president, and here he is twenty five years
into his career of a great run here and he's
heading in a different direction. So what is it when
somebody had asked him five years ago, what is it
you want to do if you weren't here? I guess
we're going to find out. Yeah, so yeah, no, man,
It's just I'm always interested in these conversations of.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
If he got burned out or want to do some
all of us, what would you do? I mean?

Speaker 5 (08:40):
And truthfully I went to get them. I went and
got a master's degree for me. For I made a
promise to my parents when I was graduated. The day
I graduated from USC that I was going to get
it done and all the you know, and I developed
approach it until three years ago and got it done.
But I don't know what I'm going to use it for.

(09:00):
But I know that you never know as an athletic
director or a general manager or a president of an organization.
Having a master's degree and going through what I went
through and one of the best support management schools in
the country was hard work but also worth it and
whether I use it or don't. And then the mediator
thing was requested me by my uh one of my
professors who has been in the mediation business forever. We

(09:23):
had a class and you know when when you're going
and you're doing verbal part of class and you're in
front of him, and he said, you need to you
should go do this. This was halfway through my master's degree,
and I thought, okay. And so when I was done,
after I'd done a lot of the qualifications by getting
the master's degree, I took the extra steps to get
it because who knows, I don't know. You wake up
one day and I've I've dealt with mediators before in

(09:45):
in you know, in situations, and it's a good gig
because you work a couple of days a week. I mean,
it's a it's a good gig. You'll see a lot
of former like people that had law degrees or that
had been doing something else and get to that because
you know, well, they're making good money over a two
day stint and they can take the rest of the
month off. Though it's not a bad gig, and I

(10:06):
it was just a challenge for me. I wanted to
do it, and I'm glad I did both. But it
does at least give you the qualifications to walk in
an interview room and be qualified for one of those gigs,
especially with life experiences behind it as well. Yeah, maybe
if you were twenty five with the masters agree, you
still wouldn't be ready to be.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
A general manager president because life experiences.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
My advantages was all those life experiences and then finally
got a master's of all the years later, we know
we're not going anywhere. We like, we love our job.
But I'm sure that I'm sure I'll get that request
in it, don't you think?

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I think so? Yeah, man, you'll be there right, Yeah,
I'll be there, Okay, cool. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Like system, we've got to have a sports system like
step brothers have sports in the interview together. Yeah, and
then we'll probably probably in the off season schedule a
week at the Catalina wine mixer. Yeah you know what
I'm saying. I appreciate your support. Yeah, just I just
figured out, like we're tucks. Yeah maybe with tennis shoes.
That's who seems to be the look these days. Yeah,
you go Gray, I'll go black, Okay, advice versa, whatever

(11:00):
you whatever you think, will drive us there.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
So why can't you drive us? Because it's a team effort.
Why can't you Why can't you drive us? We got
to do the driver.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
I mean, why why don't you up there and you
drive and stomp the grapes and triple and I back
there will be drinking the wine. I'll drive. Yeah, you
guys get back there, let me drive. You know, we're
all right, you can do yeah. Right. You know he's
the youngest, so but he's a college age kid. They're
little irresponsible. That's true.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
That is that's a good point. You know, you can't
trust them town kids.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
That he's friends with. Sliced a low in the Tulsa
Kike A big deal.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
What's that guy? What's that dude you were talking about?
Yesterday on the shows, Who from Tropoyo.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Marco from Tripoil, Mark and Marco from That's Bobby Slovak
from Tripol. That's right, that's Slovak. That's right, Bobby Slowan,
got Bobby Slovak. Bobby Slowak is going to be a
guest of the next John Wick movie.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, Bobby Slovak. I'm just.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Bobby slow Yeah. Bel Air, Yeah, that makes that makes
way more sense. More of a basic white guy. You
a lot of bas white guys over in. Bel Air
kind of has the.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Look of, you know, maybe from the Dissey like like
the short hair.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
You know, did you say they like that?

Speaker 5 (12:11):
If he talked to you'd be like Russian mob. He's
from Albania. Yeah, there's no doubt.

Speaker 8 (12:18):
Man.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Oh yeah, Texans uh have part of ways they're a team. President.
That came yesterday and then man, it just seemed like
the news more and more reports out of nowhere, one
after another after another in regards to the Houston Astros.
Are we really about to discuss Jose Altuve playing left field?
What is the deal with that? That's next?

Speaker 6 (12:41):
Buckle up.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 9 (12:46):
Hell.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
So many reports yesterday that came out in regards to
the Houston Astros Alex Bregman man Where to start, Sean,
did you first of all, did you see all of
these different reports came out? Chandler Rome had one, John
Hayman had one, Bob Nightingale had one.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
YEP.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
I mean they just kept flowing left and right. So
the first one that came out what it was from,
I just want to double check it was from Bob
Nightingale and Bob Nightingale working for USA Today Sports. He
mentioned that Jose Altuve would potentially move to play left field.

(13:32):
He said, the Houston Astros are keeping the door a
jar for free agent third basement Alex Bregman to return,
but are not optimistic. Optimistic Bregman has serious offers from
at least two teams. If the Astros pulled it off,
Bregman would stay at third base, Estakpretis would move the
second and Jose al Tuve would move to left field.
So when you did your hit with Dan Patrick yesterday,
we triple and I just basically talked about the Astros

(13:54):
roster construction, what it might look like lineup wise, and
I said, if Bregman did come back, I could see
Jose al Tuvey playing left field. I kind of said
it tongue in cheek and then these this stuff comes
out and it's not just Bob Nightingale.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
There were others reporting it.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Well, then there's there's fire there, not just smoke. It's
more than one. This isn't just a standalone not the
that's like if three or four people are talking about
they're getting the same word. I guess it was always
in play. The question is how much in play was
it him coming back? And the longer it goes you
would think the more it's like, I'm headed back to Houston. Yeah,

(14:34):
because the market wasn't. It really comes down to simple
you can you can you know, split hairs here any
way you want, or if people's ego and their mind
are involved and it bothers them. The bottom line is
the market wasn't as right for him as he thought. Yeah,
and he's a good player, right, but the market wasn't
as right for him. They're not well, they viewed Willia

(14:56):
Domas as a better option. Some did at the price.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
You look how early he yeah, same with Chapman.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Right, So not that that he can't play, but I
think the market for Alex Bregman is a bit different
than he had in mind going into this offseason. I
think all of us thought it was going to be
a lot easier for him to get close to the
money he wanted. And after all that, maybe the Texans
offer wasn't a low ball or wasn't not that anybody

(15:22):
suggested it, but it wasn't anywhere near what he wanted.
If he has to, if he comes back, you may hear, oh,
he wanted to be an astro the whole time, you know,
the of course that and maybe deep down to maybe
deep down he did. But in truth, if two hundred
would have come, Alex Bregman wouldn't have We wouldn't have
in this conversation. No, we wouldn't have to.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Say we can, you can.

Speaker 5 (15:42):
You can spend it any way you want. And I
don't blame agents and all that for doing it. The
bottom line, and he may still have wanted to be
here a deep down he was going to take the
extra forty million bucks it would have been offered, and
I don't I doubt he turned down two hundred and
ten million dollars waiting for a bigger answer he didn't get.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
It feels like he didn't get anywhere near what he wanted.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
Yeah, so, and I may be wrong, but because it
just the longer it goes now and I made the chances,
it feels like, and judging from these articles, and you know,
the stuff would come out yesterday and the conversation we're
having that did. The percentage has gone up of him
coming back and moving people around. Now, I'm not sure
how good that makes the defense. I know it does

(16:25):
with him at third base, paradis a segment. How comfortable
is Hosey al Tuve and left field?

Speaker 4 (16:30):
And late last night there was another report that he
was the one that said I would move to left
field if it means bringing back Bregman. And you know
that he was very, very vocal at the end of
the season and talking about re signing Alex Bregman and
what he means to the organization and to the clubhouse.
So learn left field, I think al Tuove And that's
the whole thing. Like I was reading through so many

(16:51):
different threads last night and just I'm just gonna talk
fan reaction. People were so upset that al Tuve could
potentially move to left field, and I'm thinking, in my mind,
jord On Alvarez has knee injuries and bad knees, and
he plays left field fifty plus games every single year.
If if jord On Alvarez can play left field, you

(17:12):
mean to tell me that Hose al Tuove can't figure
it out out there. You put Hose al Tuove in
left field. It's better than Dubond being out there. It's
better than Jake Myers. It's better than Jaz McCormick. In
my opinion, Well, what I like it's a veteran or
not Jake Myers. Jake Myers is a really good outfielder defensively,
I take that back.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
It's also speaks to the here's a KG veteran in
a part of his career where it's like if he
doesn't want to move, they're not gonna move him.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Who's volunteered to move?

Speaker 5 (17:40):
To keep a good player in house and make adjustments
so all three of them can play, not just Okay,
Bregman's the one that's got to move. What are we
gonna do paratus there? But no, then it'd be pretty
I'll two. That's the that's a lot of moving parts.
But you need a veteran who's on board as a team.
But nobody's ever questioned if hose Altov is a good
team guy.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
So, I mean, listen, what maybe not maybe what is
the lack of a ripe market for Alex Bregman is
a benefit for the text, for the Astros.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
It just is.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
I mean having him back now, the question is how
much are you going to pay him? And what are
you going to get out of it? And will the
moves defensively be wise? You want to help, I'll two
V in the lineup every day. Pray this is going
to be every day player. And we also know that
Bregman's not. You know, if if he's here, it's going
to be an everyday player. Now, with that word that

(18:33):
he may come back, I wonder if somebody else out
there says, well, the Red Sox or the Tiger, so
let's hoping this back up. Let's let's pay an extra
you know, three million a year or two million, whatever
it is, and let's get him. It's worth it, and
maybe that speeds them up as well.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah. The longer it gets, the closer it.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Gets, I would imagine, the more it's more feasible that
he stays in an Astros uniform.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Yeah, I think so seven one, three, seven nine is
the number two joints talking to Michael, Mike, what's happening?

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Good morning guys. Yeah, I could not lay over with
the other when I heard that, but I would. I
would think surely that mister al Tuovey's in there behind
the scenes talk both pregnant and the and the team
about these possibilities. But I was thinking of another scenario

(19:23):
instead of moving mister l TV to west Field. Maybe
there's a possibility of I know nothing, that's nothing about paradis. Uh,
maybe there's possibility of trading him or maybe some minor
league double a stead dead picture up and coming something.

(19:44):
What do you think about that?

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Trading him for who? Though?

Speaker 7 (19:48):
Well, I mean, look look at the market and see,
uh he who has a you know, a double a
picture out there somewhere. Who needs an infielder?

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So then who plays left field for the Astros?

Speaker 7 (20:01):
Well we we go back to what we had before.
I mean, we got Albarez, we got we got the
three other out there. We still need another outfit. Yeah,
I agree, I agree with that al Tovey, you know,
he's certainly athletic enough to do that.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
But I.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
I just heard this theme is just like you guys did.
So I'm so I'm telling a little bit of shock
about it. So what I thought that?

Speaker 4 (20:24):
So, so just let me ask you, Mike, real quick.
So you if let's just say that the Astros, let's
just say that the Astros traded Esoch Preduce like you
just mentioned, Let's say they get him out of here,
you would rather have an outfield of Dubond, Jake Myers,
and Chas McCormick rather than having Paradus at second, Bregman
comes back place third and al twove and left.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
I don't know enough about I'm saying. I don't know
I know enough about Parati, you know, like I said,
I admitted that I know next to nothing about that
Al Tuvey, although I believe he's athletically gifted enough to
play it, you know, keep him where he's comfortable. We
do that. We still got this steat third basement we

(21:09):
got from the Cubs.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Correct, Yeah, Cam Smith, but he's he's probably a year
or two two away, year year.

Speaker 7 (21:15):
Or two away, right, So we still need an outfielder regardless. Ye,
So keep keep the status, keep the status quo as
it is, and see we can get karatas so we can.
You know, you know we're pitching. You always be pitching, right,
so you gotta have that. So I mean, it's just

(21:36):
a thought. I'm just throwing that out there.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Yeah, I got you, Mike. I'm just just just asking questions. Man,
that's all this. I just I find it interesting. You know,
You're not the only one. Like when people saw that
this could be a possibility without two vane left field, Uh,
the reaction was the same as you like, oh what
al two vane left field? No way type thing. So
I think a lot of people are kind of shocked
about it. But man, I would have no I would

(22:01):
I would wouldn't mind al too vane left field if
that meant bringing Bregman back.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
Well, And then it made you know, you need to
stud center fielder to help help less Feald out with
the with the funky thing that in the bigger in
the bigger ballpark. Uh out two days. And I know
left field doesn't require the strongest arms out there, but still,
I mean there's there's Altov. You know, second base arm
going to be strong enough to play play the outfield regard.

(22:27):
So I'm you know, guys, I'm just thinking that loud
h it's I'm pleased to hear that. You know, there
may be some popbillity like Seawn said, you know there's
fire here, got this smoke. So we'll just see what happened.
The guys. I appreciate your time.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
We'll talk the same awesome, Mike, thank you, Thank you, Mike,
appreciate it. Yeah, when that many people are saying it,
it's got to be real. And the truth is, you
even before those you know, those guys who cover it
so well and brought the news to you know, to
the public, is the longer it went, you had to
realize that. When I say dry up, it's just it's

(23:03):
not harvested right now. For him, it's just it's not
as it's just not as active as he expected it
to be. For whatever reason. If they think his offensive
productions go down, if it's too much money, if it's
too many years.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Hell, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Maybe there's some that hold twenty seventeen against him. It
could it could be. It could be any of it.
And at one point in time, if you remember Alex,
I mean you do, I mean I'm talking about Nash people.
Alex Bregman was the the swagger, he was the guy

(23:38):
walking in the dugout shrug, you know, the shoulder chimmy
and all that stuff and looking into the camera.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
That's right, he was.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
He was the he shifted that part of his personality.
We don't see as much of that from him at all.
It's uh and but people don't forget. And when you're
when you when you put up numbers and you're confident
and outwardly confident, which he is very confident player, people
take that heart.

Speaker 9 (24:04):
Now.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
I can't imagine why that would bother him, but you
kind of want that on your team. Yeah, maybe there's
some grudge holders from seventeen, or maybe they just don't
think his offensive production is what what we've expected.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
And the truth is it isn't.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
He's a great talent, and hell, whatever the reason is,
needs to get back to it because I think that
we are expecting more from him offensively and quite frankly,
considering the changes in Tucker Gunn, you're going to need
more if he ends up coming back here.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Yeah, you just are. Yeah, no doubt, man, No doubt.
Seven one three, seven ninety is the number to join.
Will continue to talk about the Houston Astros re engaging
with Alex Bregman.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Next The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Later on the show, we will also talk about the
Texans moving on from their team president. I got some
more audio from Joe Mixon to talk about Apparently it
took the offensive while to gel together.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
What's that about? That's later on in the show.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Three two one two is the number two joins phone
lines lighting up this morning about these Houston astros to
start with Ronnie, Ronnie, welcome in, Good morning.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Hey you morning guys.

Speaker 8 (25:09):
There's a question I have.

Speaker 10 (25:12):
Of course we can talk about this, but who starts
these rumors? I mean whether it's a rumor. Did Bredman started,
did his wife started? The crane started? I mean, how
who's initiating the acts of getting these conversations going.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
And and and as far as.

Speaker 10 (25:33):
Parades and all that, Why wouldn't I don't know what
parides is, like I mean obviously because you know, like
you I've told you guys before, I can't I'm blind.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
I can't see.

Speaker 10 (25:42):
Why wouldn't you put if he's got an arm to
play third, why wouldn't you put parties in right field?
And uh, you know, leave Altuve at second and put
I don't know who put put Brian in left field.
He's got to be better than Dubon.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Yes, dude, what so right? What what concerns you? And
as far as like the rumors like these are coming from.
I mean, you had two national writers, Ronnie, and then
you had Chandler Rome who was on the beat here
in the intergame.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
There's somebody's obviously told them who.

Speaker 8 (26:13):
Gives them to the writers where are.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Probably it could be it could be it could be
Scott Boris, it could be somebody within the astros, somebody
that knows that's very close to the situation is leaking
this information to these writers.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Ronnie.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
I can tell you this from being in situations with teams,
and it drives coaches crazy. If it's a player in
the locker room that says, hey, keep my name out
of it, just say sources. And there's a player that
didn't that refused they didn't want to be named, drives
coach is crazy because they want you to put your
name up, especially if they're talking about play calling or
something somebody's job or uh, all the things inside that

(26:52):
go on.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
You know, you want to keep that in house.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Well when it comes to this, That's how Adam Schefter
and that's how these guys, that's their sources, that's how
they make their living. Woj when he was doing it
before he became the gym. They have connections in a
building and it could be somebody sitting right next to
the head coach. It could be a coordinator, it could
be a hitting instructor. It could be the president of

(27:14):
the team that is in close that says all Fiji information,
but you keep my name out of it. Give you
a headstart. That's they're not built on the fact that
they read one hundred page book of knowledge. I mean
that they're not smart. Don't misunderstand me. They are, but
they know who to talk to. They know the guy
that they're not. The writer's not going to sell them out.
You're my source. Will keep it close. Just let me

(27:35):
know you're going to give me a breaking story before
anybody else, and do it there.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Most of one the good ones, they have a connection.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
I can remember when I was doing TV, not any
I'm not an insider, meaning I don't break like the
Wojes and the trade stories. I'm an analyst right on
TV at at ESPN. But I had coaches that I'd
call all the time because we talk about all thirty
two teams. So my job going on Sports Center and
NFL Live was to break down x's and o's, give
you insight or why they're going, why they're interested all

(28:04):
those things. I wasn't a newsbreaker, but you'd get insights saying,
here's how they're going to cover Jerry Rice this week,
here's how they're playing They're gonna play Tom Brady this week.
I'm telling you this is what's gonna happen, or here's
how they're going to approach him offensively. Why Because I'd
go on the phone and i'd be talking to the
very offensive coordinator who I have a relationship with, who

(28:26):
told me their game plan but just didn't want me
to be specific, or a defensive coordinator that they planned
on blitzing seventy percent of the time and they were
going after him because they didn't believe the quarterback could
handle the blitz. And it's like, well, where do you
get this information? And when people say, oh, that's just
you speaking no, no, no. If it's my opinion, I'll
let you know it's my opinion. But when I get
it from the horse's mouth, that's telling me his wide

(28:47):
receiver's not starting this week because he's lazy at practice.
And then you go on the air and say it,
they're like, what do you mean he's lazy? I heard
it from the wide receiver coach who told me that
these things have happened when I was on TV. You
do get those sources. Some guys that do it, they
have a guy inside the building or close to it
that's telling them here's where we are, and it's their source.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
So I don't think they're just throwing it to the win.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
They all have opinion, but when they're right in this,
they're getting it from a guy who's hearing it in
the same building that it's coming from.

Speaker 10 (29:19):
Okay, So when the guy or a person who leaks
it to the writer, what do they get out of it?
Is the writer or the paper or the network are
they paying this leaky?

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Well, let's put it this way. I'll tell you.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
In some cases, let's just say, Okay, let's just say
the offensive coordinator that gives me. Let's say I have
a relationship with the head coach on another team, and
the offensive coordinator is giving me information or an assistant
general manager, and I'm on TV on ESPN every day

(29:57):
and people are watching, So I got there's bandwidth. I'm
just on whether it's me or somebody else who's sitting
on myself or Golick or we're sitting on that set
every single day and people are watching. Coaches, watch players,
watch media, watches advertise, they watch, and all of a sudden,
you say, when the job comes up, after for two years,

(30:18):
the guy's been giving you information, the assistant general manager.
A job comes up and you're on TV and they say, well,
who would be the good person to replace the new
GM in Jacksonville? And guess what you say, Well, there's
a great assistant GM in Kansas City. There's a phenomenal
a guy who who is worthy of being a GM.
And have watched his been great with personnel. And before

(30:41):
you know it, and this has happened that team, that
guy gets an interview with them. That's how that happens.
It's relationships. Man, do you scratch my back?

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Off?

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Scratches not to lie to anybody, but okay, this guy
gives me information.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Man, he's been spot on.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Well, when a GM job or a offensive coordinator job
comes up, I'm going to call up my relationship with
the head coach there and say Mande. I've been dealing
with this guy for a while, interview him. He's got
he's you won't be sorry. That's that's how that happens.
So that that's what's in it for him. He's not
getting paid on the side any of those things, at

(31:17):
least I wouldn't think. But there it's called well, I
scratch your back, you scratch mine, and then I'll protect
your name. I'm not going to give away the source
that you told me because you're sitting next to the
head coach what your defense is going to be this week.
I'm not going to sell you out and give away
your plan. That's how that that's how those relationships work.
Somebody on the draft day, on the NBA draft, why

(31:38):
WOJ is breaking these beforehand? He has somebody in every
friggin building. Why Chefter's so good, He has a connection
in every building that's next to the decision maker that
that is going to tell him in ninety eight percent
of the time it happens.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
That's why they make ten million bucks a year to
do it.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
So with these astros that that I mean with chand
these guys have relationships, and these relationships guys are giving
them information and it's not illegal. Now if a coach
found out that you were leaking or front office and
why are you leaking who were drafting? But how else
would Chefter know or woj No five minutes before the
pick on thirty two teams the exact guy they're picking

(32:17):
before anybody else does. Why because somebody in that draft
room called him on a cell phone or undertake and
let him know or texted him, Hey, we're drafting this
guy with the fifth pick. If he's there, this is
the guy we're taking. And that's how.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
And then when it comes around, oh man, I'm looking
for a GM job.

Speaker 5 (32:35):
Can I count on you on TV to possibly make
a mention or make that call to your connection in Jacksonville.
That's how it works. It's exactly how it works.

Speaker 10 (32:44):
Well, just a couple of quick final questions. Is is
there any idea who we would get who they would
get from the Cubs if they trade Pressley? And also
is Hector Nares still? I know they claimed him off
waivers and he played for the rest season. Is he
under contract or did he sign with somebody else or what?

Speaker 4 (33:05):
As far as excuse me, I would believe that the
Astros would get prospects and maybe a salary. It would
be like a salary dump if Pressley was straight to
the Cubs. And as far as Orenaius, I don't think
he's under contract, and I don't.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
And I haven't seen it unless I missed it during
the freeze. I haven't seen him sign with anybody yet,
have you No, So I think that's still looms out there, Ronnie,
so we know you'll know.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
He is a free agent, hegronaerusis appreciate the call, RONI
we got to get a break.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
And and by the way, the change real quick before
we go to break, Ronnie, Thank you, buddy. I hope
I explain that that's just it's been built on I
still have. I mean, there's guys i'll call today that
you'll get information from it. You know, you'll use it
as your opinion, and they want you to use their opinion.
They don't want credit for it. They just want to
make sure that if something comes up and somebody asks that,
I've got a guy over here that's worthy of an interview, right, Yeah,

(33:53):
it's fair and it's he's honest. You just don't want
anybody on either side to make you look bad. Liam
Cohen is taking, yeah, the Jacksonville jack Wars head coaching job.
So that came down to one reason. It appears to
me that Trent Balki and Liam Cohn were not on
the same page, so they wanted Liam Cohen so bad
they fired the GM. And here's the key. Have they

(34:15):
even named a new GM yet, No, they're they're letting yeah,
think about that problem. They're letting him be involved. I
never Yes, he's here's a guy who's never been a
head coach and he's really highly regarded as a play caller.
But think about this, how you're hiring a head coach.
Before you hired the GM, the GM's job as you

(34:37):
there had attached the normally and it happens, but normally
you hired the head coach. The GM hires the head
coach with obviously the owner's approval and insight. Now Liam
Cohen's coming in, so like Kyle Shanahan and Lynch together, right,
aren't you thinking that Liam Cohen's going to lean towards
a guy he's got a relationship in the past, so
his job stays a little more secure. He's going to

(34:59):
lean lean on his lean on his source, lean on
his guys, it's been around him to say, oh, this
guy's got my back. Yeah, we'll sign both sign a
five year contract and we'll be hip to hip. Yeah happens.
But Liam Cohen, it's obvious he wanted to play. You
want to coach Trevor Lawrence, he just didn't want to
coach him with Trent Balky because he didn't trust him

(35:19):
in the building. That's the way I because he turned
it down and now he wants it. Yeah, there you go,
and I guarantee they said job, and you can have
say in some personnel and who we hire as a gym.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
He didn't even interview with them. He turned it.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
He turned down an interview because of Trent Balky still
being there.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
That's the type of gig you want when somebody wants
you so bad that you have enough power without interviewing
that they're willing to bring you in and get rid
of a GM that you did not want.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
To work for.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Crazy man, not kidding crazy seven five seven ninety Andrew
Paul Holly. We'll get to you guys next as we
continue to talk about these astros on the Port Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to continue.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Paul, you're up first, Good morning, Good morning, gentlemen. How
are you guys in to day? We're good, buddy, what's
on your mind?

Speaker 8 (36:05):
So?

Speaker 11 (36:05):
Yeah, just looking over what we were talking about, and
here are you guys talking about the whole home bredman situation.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Morning.

Speaker 11 (36:11):
I look at it like those guys. I mean, you know,
this is what what we've done with all two of
him going to left field. They actually did the same thing.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
With with Craig Brigio.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Jeff Kick came here, put.

Speaker 11 (36:19):
Him at second base, Kreg Brigio tik centerfield. You know
that's something that that I guess we have a history
of doing and pretty much trust, pretty much trust HOSL
two band left field. And I'm tired of hearing all
these guys say, oh, we could treat you suck, you
could treat guys. We he was a major part of
that Tucker trade. I'm sorry. Do these Astra fans not
know how many outs this guy had to three hundred

(36:40):
and twenty three and twenty five feet at Rayley Field.
I mean, come on, this guy's gonna be a masher.
He's gonna be like a thirty home run type guy. Okay,
he's he's a very big part. He's a young twenty
something year old guy. He's gonna be hitting a lot
of home runs. We're gonna have an all star infield, Okay,
it's it's gonna be Christian Walker, Eastart Furdis, I mean
possibly Bregmann. I mean, I mean, are are Hosey out two?
All these guys are all stars. So I mean, you

(37:03):
know we're we're We're pretty good. And I have no
problem with Posey all to be taking left field because
I want to preserve. I won't preserve you are on
Alvarez's knees. Okay, I mean that guy is gonna be
I mean, it's it's to me, it makes complete and
total sense. I mean, you know, and I'm sure growing
up in Venezuela, I guarantee you you know out to
it being the leader as he was, as Craig Bigiel
was the leader. I know he's taken his share of

(37:23):
stances out in the outfield before. So I mean something
that I'm pretty comfortable with. And no, you can't put
Eastar Pratis out in the outfield because he doesn't have
the legs for that. Al two they does, Okay, Eastart
Pradis's defense is not as on par as much as
everybody else is. We got him because of his bat,
so we're not we're not trading this guy's bad. Okay.
We've been after this guy for years, so I'm tired
of hearing about all these guys trade. No, we're not
gonn trade him. He was a viable part for that

(37:44):
toocker trade. I mean, so, I mean that's that's that's huge. Yes,
Cam Smith was the major guy.

Speaker 7 (37:48):
I got that.

Speaker 11 (37:49):
But you know, come on, we have Brayban comes back. Hey,
I'll take it. And if not, okay, fine, But that's
that's that's that's where we're at. I feel so thank you, gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Appreciate it, Paul. I have no agree more. Yeah, I agree, man.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
And one of the big things that I had here
in my notes is that they moved Craig Bigio to
centerfield when Jeff Kent came over here. Jeff Kent was
a a big part of getting the Astros back into
the NLCS back then, and then you saw that Craig
Bigio moved to centerfield.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
I have no issues that turned out well, yeah, I
have no.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
Issues if jose Al Tuvey goes leftfield and let me
put this in perspective, sewn.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Positions three times.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
He was a catcher, catcher, second base, from center field, Yeah,
all the way up the middle.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
So let me put it in perspective. I did some
digging last night. Do you know how many lineups different
lineups the Astros used last year in one hundred and
sixty two games in the regular.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
Season, Buck thirty more, Buck forty five.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Buck forty seven, one hundred and forty seven different starting lineups.
If it's Altuve and left to start the season. If
they bring back Bregman, you think he's gonna be there
every single game.

Speaker 5 (38:53):
No, it's not how it's gonna go. But I do
on the other side, if you even have any concerns, right,
I listen. I one thing people have to realize. While
gloves are defense is important. We know defense travels in
every sport. Gives you a chance. We said that before football.
If you play great defensive basketball, you be in every game.
Even if you don't shoot well, you'll hang around. If
you play great defense and pitch and baseball, you'll win

(39:16):
more than you'll lose. And if you play great defense
in football, you'll you'll get to the playoffs. And you
gotta have a quarterback. If you play makers and don't
turn it over to get to the next level. It's
really it's pretty simple that I know, travels. There's other
things that have to come into play, but those that
that that is in all those sports you'll be around.
Then you got to have some you know, quarterback and
a couple of great hitters all that. But when it

(39:39):
comes to baseball, most teams are not choosing. Let's line
up seven guys defensively who aren't as good as the
guys offensively, but we got to do that six and
one half dozen in the other you're always going to
take and play most of the time the bat first,
right exactly? You always are now that is I mean,

(40:00):
you're you're putting now. If you push defense aside, then
you'll be an embarrassment.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
You get my point.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
So you're gonna do whatever you can to maximize the
AL two ve Bregman parades thing with the bats first,
and then you're gonna say, okay, who gives us the
best chance in left field of the three AL two ve? Okay,
who cos versatile? Who gives us the best chance to
get a Gold Glove at third base? Bregman, Okay, then
I'll move paradoes to second base, which is a little
less taxing on a player. So yeah, that's how it works.

(40:29):
Two thirty hitter average glove, I mean two thirty hitter
gold glove, three to ten hitter, thirty home runs sometimes
a liability at his at his position third base. That
guy's starting first. Yeah, give me the thirty buds. He
may move to another position, but he's playing.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (40:47):
Now, if you get well, you got to play defense.
But my point is, I hate to tell you this,
thirty home runs is getting you paid more than five
gold gloves, right, it just works that way.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
That's how it is.

Speaker 5 (41:00):
Now, if you get both, then God bless you. Yeah
you're Mike Schmid's of the world. Great your health. But
the point is is you want to keep those bets
and parades. He may be a twenty five to thirty
home run guy here, great, then he's got to play.
I don't like one hundred and forty seven different lineups.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
That's just me.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
I don't versatility matters, But I need to cut that down,
you know, to half and half.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
I at least one.

Speaker 5 (41:25):
Like I'm a big believer in coming to the ballpark
every day for the most part and no one who's
in a lineup right. I know situational baseball and analytics
have changed out a little bit. One hundred and forty
seven out of a buck sixty two is too many.
That tells me you got problems as opposed. Versatility is
one thing, but that tells me your starters or injuries
are not going the way you want it to, and
that's got to change. One hundred and forty seven different

(41:46):
lineups ain't the right thing. No, with the other eight
guys not named pitching staff and I think you need
more consistency. And we've talked about that numerous times. No,
that's what two different managers too. Yep, Dusty had tons
of different lineups and so did Joe A spot us.
So it's something to watch.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
Let's get into the seven o'clock walk hour seven one three, two,
one two five seven ninety Uh.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
The Astros could be looking to move Ryan Presley. What's
that about?

Speaker 7 (42:06):
Next?

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Kd E Houston, k t V HD two Houston, an
iHeart radio station.

Speaker 6 (42:14):
As a rocket.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Is Sports Talk seven your home for your home team.

Speaker 12 (42:24):
Salisbury, Oldbury, Salisbury, Houston.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Okay, let's do this sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
To usc truth longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
Rockets with the night off. They're gonna play the Cavaliers tomorrow.
You got the AFC and NFC title games on Sunday.
It's the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs, and also
the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
We've been talking about the Astros.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
A lot of reports coming out yesterday in regards to
Alex Bregman and some talks being re engaged between him
and the team. Also, there's some trade rumors out there
that the Astros are looking to move Ryan Pressey to
the Chicago Cubs. And also hose Al Tuve. Could he
be playing left field if the Astros bring back Alex Bregman.
A lot to get into as we get into this

(43:21):
seven o'clock hour. Later on in the show, we will
discuss the Texans moving on from their team President seven
one three two point two five seven ninety uh is
the number to join talking about the Astros. Just get
out to Andrew, Andrew, appreciate you holding buddy.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Good morning, Good morning guys. How you doing, good man?
What's up well?

Speaker 13 (43:41):
I think guy along with everybody else thought the we
had giving up on Bregman. Now we're kind of back
at it again.

Speaker 11 (43:48):
Is he coming back?

Speaker 7 (43:49):
Is he not?

Speaker 13 (43:50):
I mean, one thing I would hate to see happens.
I could totally see Scott Boris being the one throwing
out these rumors, none of it being true. That's what
I would hate for to happen. But I wouldn't put
it back past for us to do that just to
try to get the market going for him a little bit.

(44:11):
But I mean, I gotta give a tove credit if
it's true. I mean, talk about a team player, I
mean putting the team, putting team's needs first. I mean,
and if Vigio can move, I mean, why why not?

Speaker 3 (44:26):
On TV?

Speaker 13 (44:29):
As far as the Presley situation goes, I hope it
doesn't turn into an Aeronaudo situation where they have a
deal ready to go and then Presley nix is it?
I mean to me, you've got to get the person,
the guy's approval first before you can make any kind
of deal.

Speaker 3 (44:49):
Or even look for a deal. But anyway, y'all have
a good day.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Andrew.

Speaker 4 (44:54):
Yeah, when it comes to Ryan Presley, he has a
full no trade clause, he would have to waive that
for certain teams. From what I understand, he would like
to go to Chicago. There are some things that he
has to get figured out on his end, and obviously
the two teams have to come to an agreement on
what would be moved from the Cubs to Houston for

(45:18):
Ryan Presley. But I mean, Sean, it's like we talked about,
and you even asked Dana Brown last year about Ryan
Presley being quote unquote demoted or if he saw it
as a demotion, and Dana Brown himself said, yeah, you
could probably look at it as a demotion from the
ninth inning guy to the eighth inning guy. And Ryan
Presley was so up and down inconsistent last year. It
just seems to me that he needs to be closing

(45:38):
games rather than pitching in the eighth inning. If you
can trade him and get rid of his salary or
have some sort of salary bump dump and get some
prospects back, and if that helps you add a couple
maybe a million or two to the Alex Bregman offer,
then do it. You still got a lot of good
options in the back end of this bullpen. If you
move Ryan Presley.

Speaker 14 (45:58):
One.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
This was when the season ended.

Speaker 5 (46:02):
We've had the discussion of you know, you expected him
to move and you just brought it up with Dana
Brown and talk to us about and when I'd asked
him it wouldn't you feel the same way?

Speaker 1 (46:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (46:13):
I would too. Yeah that doesn't mean you still don't.
You're getting paid to do a job. Whether it's in
the six inn and fourth inning, ninth inning, eighth inning,
doesn't matter. But it's still Nobody knew the emotional effect
it would have on him. Now he may not admit
that it would, but it sure looked like he did.
And I would think that anybody that gets demoted. If
you had a third hitter that's been in the lineup
on a regular base and all of a sudden you
woke up one day and put him at eight, eventually he'd.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
Say, well, what do I got to get back third?

Speaker 5 (46:36):
Of course, basically, I'm telling you I can't win with
you in the three hole, so we got somebody better.
What do I always tell you did as a coach
and a manager. I love you and we're friends, but
guess what, I'm always trying to replace you with somebody better?

Speaker 7 (46:51):
Right?

Speaker 5 (46:52):
Not a negative way, I just am and the guy
that's better, I don't care if he's twenty five or forty.
If he's better for our team right now, then I
got to make the decision. Yeah, and they thought that
felt that Josh Hater was a better closer. It's pretty
simple whether Bryan Presley feels that way, and I'm sure
he doesn't a lot of respect for Hater, I'm sure,
but I would think that he'd like to get back
in that role. And I would imagine that when he
goes to Chicago, if that happens, that Ryan Pressley is

(47:13):
going to be at the back end of the bullpen.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Yeah. So whatever that is.

Speaker 5 (47:17):
And if you can go get some assets for him
and get him back, I'm sure he loves his teammates here,
but going back to where he's most comfortable and did
a good job that then you have to do it.
Loyalty is great until it doesn't make your team better. Yeah,
that's pro sports, and it is brutal. Great, it's a

(47:37):
great career, tough job.

Speaker 4 (47:39):
Yeah, And with this trade rumor with Ryan Presley also
trying to get into the mix, would be take a guess,
what team do you think is now interested in Ryan Presley.

Speaker 1 (47:52):
Somebody in the division, No team that's been Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (47:55):
No team that's been rumored to, every single free agent
or trade possibility. Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Blue Jays. What
a shock, What a shock? Goodness, man, it's the Blue
Jays and it's apparently the Cubs. And again Presley has
to wave his no trade clause. He has not done
that yet, but there is definitely some things heating up

(48:17):
when it comes to moving Ryan Presley. Whether they do
it or not, that's to be seen because we are,
like I said yesterday, three weeks away from astro or
from pitchers and catchers reporting. But this one coming out,
this one from John Hayman. He said the Chicago Cubs
quote and many other teams have inquired about reliever Ryan Presley.

(48:39):
The veteran has a no trade clause, however, meaning any
team that wants to deal with him would need his
approval first.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
So I don't know.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
Bob Nightingale reported at one point yesterday that the Chicago
Cubs are on the verge of acquiring Ryan Presley from Houston,
but he did not wave his no trade clause. So
just a lot of different reports coming out yesterday. I mean,
you saw the team president news from the Texans. Then
you saw Bob Knight and Gial talk about Jose al
Tuova moving to the left field. Then you saw Bob

(49:07):
Knight and Gil talk about Bregman potentially re engaging with talks.
Then you saw John Hayman's report about the Cubs looking
to get Ryan Presley. Then Bob Knight and Gale reported
that they're on the verge of it, and then Chandler
Rome came in and said, nope, no deal is imminent.
It's like dude, One after another after another after another,
Texans astros astros astros, and then you saw the stuff

(49:27):
about the Jaguars who were right here in the division.
There's so many of these things happened yesterday afternoon, one
after another.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
Man, good God.

Speaker 5 (49:35):
And those guys are on their phone on a regular
basis trying to figure out what is going to happen
because you want to make sure on top of it.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
So who knows.

Speaker 5 (49:42):
We may be chasing a ghost here, not a ghost
that wasn't out there, but a ghost that you that
is the Locknest monster. You know how people say they've
seen it, but have they same thing here? If somebody's
telling them that's it. But will you still got to
pull the trigger on him. You still got to pull
the trigger on Presley, You still got to pull the
trigger on is Bregman gonna stay here and you move him.

(50:03):
I believe wholeheartedly that what you're reading is true, but
being true on specula on whether it's gonna that. There's
talks of it, talks If it doesn't, mean it's done.
So listen, feel the best eight and a pitching staff,
and however you can put him in the lineup. I listen.
When it comes to people always say well, can you

(50:23):
have too many receivers? No, because you know what I'll
If that's the case, then I'll have five of them
on the field. The running back will stand on the sideline.
Whatever I gotta do and pass whatever it is I need.
I need eleven my eleven best.

Speaker 8 (50:34):
There.

Speaker 5 (50:34):
It's same thing here. I need my eight best. And
the eight best means Altove's got to play left field.
Then he needs to make the sacrifice.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
And you got to pay. That's part of it.

Speaker 4 (50:42):
Give it's I think you'd be on the same page
with this. Give me the deepest hitting order you can
and figure out the defense.

Speaker 1 (50:49):
Later and adjust from there.

Speaker 5 (50:51):
Yes, agreed, exactly, because if you've made it to major
league baseball, at least you can field the ground ball, right.
You'd like to hope you can catch a pop fly.
If Manny Ramirez relied on defense, Manny Ramirez would have
been out of the league in two years. Manny Ramirez
was born to hit. Yep, and at some point in time,
I'm sure it's going to be a Hall of Famer

(51:12):
with that bat, but they're not going to look at.
One thing you're never going to see next to Manny's name,
or at least maybe early in his career, good arm
and the rest of it. One thing you're never going
to see next to many Muir's name is made it
to the Hall of Fame. Yeah, because of his glove, right,
but I can tell you this, he clutch rake the
rest of it. Many Ramirez was in the lineup every
day his whole life. Why because the dude could smoke it,

(51:35):
because he could mash. That's exactly right. Figure out the
defense later, man, it's he It's a if you hate
to say it, but you really do. And that's why
you hope you're pitching staff hits a bunch of balls
at players. And if you if you don't have the
most astute, you know that you're great on defense, you
can make up for a lot of woes mashing on offense.

Speaker 4 (51:54):
Well, that'll always trump the other one. What was the
detriment to the Astros lifelast year? Was it defense or
was it lack of production offensive?

Speaker 5 (52:03):
I think it was a bad offense in clutch moments,
runners in score positions. I've not seen that they That's
not the way they've won in the past, and that
was to me, you know, their strengths and weakness at
the time, but I've done at the overall inconsistency was
at times a bit shocking offensively for me. To me,

(52:25):
it's the easiest thing. Yeah, that they did not They
warn't his clutch in late inning moments or with people
with a chance to score clutch moments that they've been
in the past.

Speaker 4 (52:36):
They were very average at best, been doing that last
year they were and it cost them. So give me
the deepest offensive lineup, figure out the defense later. Yep,
pretty simple, man. Let's get to the stakeout next. In
sports Stock seven to eighty.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
The Sean Salisbury Show put ours smart ass on your
smart speaker.

Speaker 6 (52:55):
Google play Seawan Salisbury on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 1 (53:02):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 2 (53:05):
The Salisbury's takeout, Salisbury Takeout on the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (53:13):
It's time for the steakout here on the Sewn Salisbury Show,
Sean Brown and Tripoli rockets with the night off. They
take on the Cavaliers tomorrow, this time in Cleveland, AFC
and NFC title games this Sunday, Buffalo and Kansas City,
Washington and Philadelphia. All right, Sean for the steakout. We

(53:35):
talked about it a couple of days ago. You had
the Hall of Fame in Major League Baseball. You had
some new members get inducted or get approved for Billy
Wagner being one of them. They haven't had the induction yet.
Billy Wagner was one of them. C Sees Abati another,
and Ichiro Suzuki was the third one. He missed a
unanimous vote by one vote. Well, he was asked yesterday

(53:59):
about it and he said, quote, there's one writer that
I wasn't able to get a vote from. I would
like to invite him over to my house and we'll
have a drink together and we'll have a good chat.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
End quote.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
Again, I ask you, this is probably their second or
third time we've done this, but it rears its head
every year. Does Major League Baseball the Hall of Fame
process need an overhaul when it comes to voting?

Speaker 1 (54:23):
Well, i'd like to know how are they vetting their voters?

Speaker 8 (54:26):
Do you know.

Speaker 5 (54:28):
How do they vet the voters? What's the criteria to
get a Hall of Fame vote?

Speaker 8 (54:33):
Do we know?

Speaker 1 (54:34):
I'm about to lie.

Speaker 5 (54:35):
Well, I've asked this a bunch and you get it.
I mean, if there's certain criteria and they're fulfilling it,
but I mean you can't. It's your vote, so you
can do what you want with it. I just need
to know, and maybe we never will the reasons. Why
is it personal? Then I can't have you vote. If
you got snubbed as an interview at some point in

(54:56):
time by a guy like Ichi Row, then then I
can't have you vote. Then you lose the privilege because
the Hall of Fame's not voted on by how you
felt about a guy because he was your buddy and
had a beer with you and granted you every interview
you ever wanted. I'm not saying this happened with Eachie Roe.
But what is the reason if you can if you're

(55:17):
selling me on the fact that his numbers didn't align
with Hall of Fame comps, then you're lying. It's so
to me, it can be nothing but personal right or
arrogance or ego.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
Just say I'm not doing it.

Speaker 5 (55:32):
Maybe in the past he had a guy that he
wanted to give one hundred percent of the vote to,
and then somebody else snubbed that guy, and so he's
going to say, if that guy didn't get one hundred
percent of the vote, then I'm.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Not giving each you row one hundred percent of the vote.

Speaker 5 (55:45):
There's that that plays into it as well, whatever it
is wherever their allegiance is. So I don't know, we
vet players and judge them all the time to get
him into the Hall of Fame. Who the hell's vetting
and judging the people that are voting, or we just
hand him to a vote because they've been doing it
for a long time.

Speaker 1 (56:00):
What do you got to do to pine for a vote?
I want to vote.

Speaker 5 (56:03):
I watch a lot of baseball, I buy the Baseball
Packers I watch I want a Hall of Fame vote,
I want a Heisman Trophy vote. I want an NFL
MVP vote. Oh, how are you getting them? Oh you
got to be a pro football writer. Okay, so that
eliminates that. But what what is the baseball writers? I
know what their jobs are, but I'd like to know.
Don't you have to vote in an interview them? Can

(56:24):
you just keep sending out a vote every year? And hey,
it's their opinion. They can do what they want, right.
You can't force them to vote the way you want,
but I can at least find out why they voted
that way. Yeah, so I would require that you make
that Every vote should.

Speaker 4 (56:38):
Have to be public, so you have to be voting
for let's see, So getting a BBWA a card.

Speaker 5 (56:44):
Baseball Writers Association of America, Baseball Writers of America, or
Baseball Writers Association of America.

Speaker 4 (56:49):
Yeah, as writers, they must cover a team for a
specific length of time of time, be decidedly impartial to
receive a Hall of Fame vote. Once given that power,
it comes with great responsibility.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
Blah blah blah. It's all ethics and morals and values
once you get it.

Speaker 4 (57:09):
It says, only active and honorary members of the Baseball
Writers Association of America who have been active baseball writers
for at least ten years shall be eligible to vote.
Why are we Why are writers the be all sale
when it comes to the Hall of Fame? I don't
know Why are former players on involved?

Speaker 5 (57:25):
Why is it former he didn't get a vote for
the Hall of Fame? Yeah, because he wasn't a writer, right,
that's my point rhetorical, My point I know is that
you just you want knowledgeable baseball people that actually watch.
Just because you covered that team doesn't mean you are
watching other teams on a regular basis. But the agenda
part of it. Listen, I'm sure most of them do

(57:46):
it the right way. But what if you had a
guy that punished your team. Let's say you were covering
a team, you're a writer for a team in a division,
and that guy punishes you every time and costs you
a trip to the World Series. Is that a reason
you wouldn't vote for him. That's the reason you should
vote for him, right, because of his performance on the field.
So when they say you know you to be not

(58:08):
to have favorite, you know to play favorite. Everybody has
their favorite player for the reasons on the field. But
to me, if your reasons are off the field that
you didn't vote for God, then you should not have
the privilege voting.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
We vet the player every week every year.

Speaker 5 (58:20):
What was his numbers like this? What do you do
in the playoffs? How was he in the postseason? Why
in the world are we not doing that for the
writers to me every two years or something, shouldn't they
have to requalify and go down, sit down with an
interview and somebody and why they get their Hall of
Fame vote? How are they doing just kind of just
kind of go over like you would a player. Let's
look at your body of work. Okay, you voted for

(58:41):
who you did this?

Speaker 9 (58:42):
Why?

Speaker 5 (58:43):
Reasons? Just kind of an interview process to make sure
you're staying along with the rules and regulations and the
mandates put down to you in the contract you agreed
to when you became a Hall of Fame voter. Just
because you watch baseball doesn't qualify yet, sorry to tell you,
it just doesn't. So for some and it's always this one,
so ego, pride, whatever it is the reason why that

(59:03):
guy did the Ichy Row or anybody else doesn't get
all the votes. I can't tell you how to vote,
but you also can't you can't vote based on something
personal or something that bothered you. Kurt Shillings the perfect
example as well. Not for he's not going to ever
get all the votes. Kurt Shillings numbers were better than ce.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
Cs about this. Yeah, yeah, I read him. See the
other day, I went.

Speaker 5 (59:26):
Back, I went back and looked and and you know,
as they had the matchup, going going through again what
you talked about. I've been pining for Shilling and aping
Kurt Shillings and not in the Hall of Fame for
one reason. Yeah, it's politics off the field, which is
bs who cares? So to me, those people who are
keeping him out the comps obviously say Shilling belongs overwhelmingly.

Speaker 1 (59:49):
Yeah, so it's your personal in the fact that people
don't lie. And it's not right now.

Speaker 5 (59:54):
It's not just one, it's a lot of them that
has disdained for him because of his politics, is voteoting,
or his opinion on TV or how he goes on
social media. Because if you're just doing it the right
way and you're saying, is that guy's numbers worthy of
the Hall of Fame, Kurt Shillings overdue getting in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Yeah, screw the personality part of it here.

Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
I like he's been good to me, but I get
there's no question who cares about the altimate right, and
like I said, good to be I don't judge it
by how he treats now.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
I judge people by how they.

Speaker 5 (01:00:24):
Treat people that can't do something for himata And everybody
has their opinion personal that's that's their business. I don't
I'm not judging them for liking him or not, like
I don't care. But as a player, there is no
way you can say Kurt Shillings not a Hall of
Famer Yah exactly. And there's no way that if you're
a voter that's doing this the right way, that you
can say ichi Ro Suzuki did not deserve your vote.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
See here, here's another problem I have with these writers.
Bob Nightingale, I'm gona use him as a as an example.
He's one of the guys that has a vote. He
posts his vote every year. You get ten votes, meaning
you can vote for up to ten players on your ballot.

Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
He only voted for six.

Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
I have a problem with that. Use all ten of
your votes. Why are you leaving votes off the table.
Use your damn votes? If you have ten, it should
be management. He used ten, you got five, you gotta
use five, you have six.

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
It's got to be said.

Speaker 5 (01:01:19):
But if they have him and they don't think the
guy's worthy of being the Hall of Fame, let's say
he thinks the numbers aren't worthy of it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
Should he have to vote?

Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
There are plenty of players on this line. I would agree,
but that this should be Hall of fa Andy Pettitt
should get votes. Yeah, but Alex Rodriguez should get votes.
I don't give a damn about the steroid stuff, so
but at that part of it he does. That's that's
the problem to me, right right, sure it is.

Speaker 5 (01:01:42):
Hell's Al two is not going to get a perfect
vote because irony, what we've talked about this before, he's
going to be people from twenty seventeen are going to
say he was part of it. He was under the umbrella,
so he was part of it. Yeah, and didn't do
anything to stop it. And they'll say somehow, some way,
but hey, the guy in front of him was enhanced
by it, so he got a double which enable jose

(01:02:02):
Altov to drive in an ext run. They'll they'll manipulate
anyway they want to so he'll never get close to
the full vote. Yeah, he just won't, no matter how
much we like him, just because there are people that
just won't do it. So the Alex Rodriguez thing, Alex
rod Reve is gonna have a hard time getting in
his numbers right because he was wrapped up in right.
But Eachi Row wasn't. And you just got to end

(01:02:23):
of six to ten votes. I don't know, it's hard.
It's hard for me. Also, if I have ten votes,
I believe comps, I can go through the comps and
realize that there's ten of them that are worthy of
being in the Hall of Fame. Yes, I always say,
now hall of Fame needs to be exclusive and it
needs to be special. But are we going the whole time?

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Are you?

Speaker 5 (01:02:43):
Are you really, ten years from now going to say
Kurt Schilling wasn't worthy of the Hall of Fame as
a player.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
That's that's the whole thing is.

Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
It's borderline embarrassing. And we'll use it as an example
because put the numbers up Shilling should have, you can
make an easy argument, and Sabathia belongs in.

Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
He does Kurt Shilling. Sabathia is a first ballot first
famous about the Shilling has better numbers, numbers, more rings.

Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
There's every one or two categories that sabbath and Shilling,
Sammathia pitched longer, more any I mean you start to
look at it and say, it's pretty alarming what Schilling
did and he was a postseason magician.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Yeah, better, let's not. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
They don't like his personality and who he votes for
or his political drive. Yeah, this isn't it's personal and
Shilling it has nothing to matters a problem with on
the field, of course it does. That's a problem, and
it should be six to ten voters. I would try
to find ten. Put it this way. If they're on
the ballot and they've been up there and they're a finalist,

(01:03:44):
don't they pretty aren't they? Hall of Fame numbers for
the most part.

Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
There were twenty eight on this year's ballot, and Bob
Nightingale decided to use just six.

Speaker 5 (01:03:54):
Yeah, so if there's twenty eight, then who are the
twenty If we were through the twenty two names he
didn't put on the ballot, I would imagine we can
find a Hall of Famer, I.

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
Would think so. I would think so seven, one, three, many. Ramirez,
by the way, is on this ballot as well. Seven
one three, two one two five seven ninety is the
number to join. Jeremy Pania was out at the Astros
caravan yesterday. He was asked about losing Kyle Tucker and
the potential of Altuve being in the left field.

Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
What does that mean? Or excuse me? What did he
say about what that could potentially mean? That's next?

Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Why goozar again?

Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
Oh?

Speaker 14 (01:04:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:04:31):
Who?

Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
Johnny guitar? Johnny guitar? Huh. Not to to be confused
with Johnny good times.

Speaker 15 (01:04:40):
Not to be confused with Johnny be good last would
his last name is Watson? Johnny Watson, Johnny Watson, Yes, yeah,
Not to be confused with Johnny Johnny Walker black or
Randale Watson.

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
Not to be confused with him, okadad whats.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Or not to be confused with Johnny two tones yeah
or Johnny two toes? There you go, all right? Kenny?
Two gloves yeah, Teddy two gloves Teddy?

Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
Or two gloves yeah, some two gloves. There's a guy
on tour PGA tour right now, A couple of them,
but one and he's really good. Player, and I don't
know why I can't remember his name out, but he
wears he's a double glove guy. He's a two he's
he he's Teddy two gloves.

Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
You know what I'm saying. Teddy two Gloves got in
the game the other day for yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05:31):
Winn a state championship in Florida's a head coach at
high school. And then boom, pop on in there and
take a few snaps for your football game for Detroit.
That's right, Yeah, yep, good for Teddy two gloves. He
threw a pass too many, ted two gloves ripped one
in there, man, yep, seven one three. Brian, good morning, Hey.

Speaker 7 (01:05:51):
You're morning guys.

Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
Bet with me.

Speaker 16 (01:05:52):
I'm coming over a sid a inceestion anyway, Hey, I
wanted to get your take on something I haven't heard
did come out yet and be discussed. It's simply this,
how much of this situation is possibly perception is reality,
the reality being Bregman was offered what it was at

(01:06:16):
six for one fifty six turns it down because you
know he's betting on himself. He goes out, gets nothing
in return as far as over that, and the reality
is he has to come back home because he couldn't
make it on his own. I'm not saying I feel
like that is how it looks, but I'm just asking

(01:06:37):
you how much of this looks like that? If if
the Astros end up bringing Bregman back for let's just
say four to one twenty, you know, four years, one twenty,
how much of this looks like that. I really wanted
to get your take on it because I hadn't, you know,
I hadn't read about it or heard about it or

(01:06:59):
anybody talked to about it.

Speaker 5 (01:07:00):
So, Brian, thank you for the call. I think one
hundred percent that's what's happening. It's not I think that
it's and I'm with you. I mean I when it
first started that there's no way Bregmant's coming back. Somebody's
gonna go out there. This is a hell of a defender.
He's got the potential to be a twenty four to
twenty five home run, one hundred RBI guy because he's

(01:07:21):
got so selected all the stuff we always talk about, leadership,
hell of a player, worker, you know, he doesn't back off,
he's not lazy, all those things, and he knows how
to He's been clutching postseason at you know, he checks boxes,
but his production offensively has fallen off. I think it's
a simple case of this. You work all your career

(01:07:42):
to get to free agency, to hit the big one,
and he thought his value in Boris's value, thought they
thought it was higher. And then all of a sudden,
people start getting plucked and nobody wants to spend two
hundred and ten million for six years, and the value
and then the Chapmans and those guys in theos sped.
The Machados and Devors are on a different level right

(01:08:05):
now at third base, and then there's the twenty seven
million guys and twenty eight dollar guys. I think I
don't want it's not fair to say overplayed his hand.
I think they thought the market would be more right
for Bregman at forty more million dollars over the course
of his deal. I don't think it's a matter of this.
Put it this way, There's no way in hell this
has been Boris and Bregman's plan. No way, There's no

(01:08:26):
way if it was, it had been done the first
week because the big dogs. You try to go get
the big dogs that are going to get the big
money early. Then Santandero sneak in and get good money,
waited his time and got it, and the team needed
it and were able to stay in the negotiations. But
I don't think there's any question he went out there.

(01:08:47):
It's not turned out so far to be the money
the years that he wanted. That people don't hold him
in this same regard money what he wants that they
don't think he's worth that much money. That's I mean,
weaken slice. I don't want to say it. It's not
I don't mean it mean. It's just a isn't that
the cold heart facts? And so he's going to come

(01:09:08):
back here if if he does, If he does come
back here, nothing appeases him or pleases him more on
a contract and for the price I'm sure around what
they offered him in the first place. Maybe they'll make
some adjustments. Who the hell knows. But this this is
not the game plan they set out for. You are
one hundred percent correct, Ryan, that they set out for

(01:09:28):
one season. When the offseason started free agency kicked in,
they thought it would be different and this was going
to be a foregone conclusion. Whether it was come back
to the Astros at the right price, or coming back
to going to Boston for two hundred and ten million.
That market isn't as ripe as they thought it would be.
And if he ends up back here, there'll be one
reason for two reasons.

Speaker 8 (01:09:47):
He likes it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
Here's familiar and he didn't get what he wanted somewhere else. Yeah,
and it has nothing to do with Bregman personally. It
has everything to do with just the business side of it.
You start to check boxes. The box is that has
and checked. And two of the managers are guys that
have managed him before. Did we're interested? Detroit and Boston
have managed him or been on the have been in

(01:10:08):
the dugout with another manager while he was here, Cora
and Tinch, And they're not able to convince their owners
for the two hundred plus million. And that's relationships and
seeing the results. Yeah, there is no other reason other
than the years in The money hasn't matched what Bregman
and Boris thought they were going to get. And that's
a Houston Astros plus. If it turns out that way

(01:10:31):
and he comes back, appreciate the call. You know we
have another are Brian our guitarist. Remember we have heard
from a long time in a long time. So if
he's out there and listened to, maybe job change, because
you know he's on the road a lot. Yeah, Brian,
if you're out there, we think about you running a
long time. It's been over a year. Yeah, I haven't
been able to, you know, talking guitar. And Brian was

(01:10:51):
our our our music guy. Yeah, you know, and he'd
call in and he either be calling from his vehicle
from the house after work or in the morning. And Brian,
if you're out there listening, we think about your brother.
We love it and hopefull he's okay. And if he
changed jobs, great, maybe he still get the chance. The
listener is in a position where he can't call in.
I hope that's the reason that that nothing else happened.

(01:11:12):
We miss him, We miss out. Yeah, I was gonna
say we obviously miss miss Carroll, but that's for obvious reasons.
And we sure miss her heading into the baseball season
and hopefully, you know she she'll be missed every single
day that goes on. God bless her and rest her
in peace. And but I was just thinking about Brian.
We can talk whenever we need. The music got to

(01:11:33):
come in and talk about uh, you know, the frontman
and all that, and lead guitarist Brian was there.

Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
So Brian, thank you for calling. Wherever Brian is? Where
are you at?

Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
Brother?

Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
Where's Terrence tea money? Been a while? I think he
got scared, probably probably probably got the that's on? Yeah,
where's Terrence at?

Speaker 7 (01:11:52):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:11:54):
They're not obligated to call every day, no, I know that,
but well maybe that maybe we should make.

Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
Them a couple months in. Yeah, you were said to Fayetteville. Yeah,
we're just get people go back to rookie ball to
think that everybody had that.

Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
People don't change jobs at hours and stuff like get
your ass up at five o'clock and start listing it.

Speaker 7 (01:12:12):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
We just it's all. We always like to just recognize
our peeps. Man, We've got a lot of great ones. Yeah,
there is no doubt.

Speaker 7 (01:12:17):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:12:18):
We're always concerned about Hell, you never know if somebody moved,
we just get the biggest one.

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
I always worry about.

Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
Yeah, people that you know, you never know what's going on, right,
So yeah, especially out there, we think about you, and
we don't just think about you when you.

Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Call, especially when we you know, find out about missus
Carroll like that got wrenching. Yeah, terrible, absolutely gut wrenching.
You know, are other callers that we love on this show.
So seven one, three, five, seven nineties to number joint
will continue to roll along talking about these astros.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
We got to hear from Jeremy Pana as well.

Speaker 5 (01:12:46):

Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
Talk to John John, Good morning, Good morning guys.

Speaker 14 (01:13:31):
Hey, I just wanted to see if yousaur the Houston
mayor sent his barbecue sent the barbecue to the Kansas
City mayor. That was the vet, but he had a
note on there if the stipulation says you should share
plate with the refs, the people that made it all
possible for you.

Speaker 11 (01:13:48):
I don't know if you saw that.

Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
I thought that was pretty cool, fantastic John Whitmeyer doog.

Speaker 6 (01:13:57):
No.

Speaker 14 (01:13:57):
I love that he share with the dude that made
it all possible for you. So yeah, I I you know,
regarding the bragman talk, I know people are kind of excited,
but I would rather see the asters to keep focusing
on getting that bat, getting somebody in the outfield with
a big bat, you know. I know, Santander maybe is
beyond what we can afford, although I'd love to have

(01:14:19):
him in the lineup.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
Just signed this week with Blue.

Speaker 5 (01:14:25):
Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Speaker 14 (01:14:27):
But there are still some people that are still available
that we can get. But I'm very mixed on it.
I guess I I don't know. I mean, his leadership,
I guess there is something to be spoken for. But
you know, he's a good he's a good fielding third
basement that sometimes gets his hips.

Speaker 11 (01:14:44):
You know, But uh, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
I just I just hope the assers are you.

Speaker 14 (01:14:50):
Know, spend their money wisely on this and and not
get too carried away with it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Mic was off.

Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
I didn't even to blow my nose in your ear.
I got this to good. I was blowing my nose
at your opinion, John, No, yeah, yeah, no.

Speaker 9 (01:15:04):
My bad.

Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
I've said here, like looking at the Brian's laughing, I'm
like what I've said here, blowing my nose. And when
Mike is on, boy, they really don't like my comments.
Yeah no, yeah, yeah, that's what thanks, John, like I'd
like to say here here, John, here, listen, here's Georgia.
Here's what I got to tell you about your bregman thoughts.
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
It wasn't on purpose.

Speaker 5 (01:15:27):
I thought I hit my mic and I didn't hit it,
and I looked down a red buttons on Brian's laugh
and I'm saying, oh, how's that for either that or
hawk tua, whatever one you want?

Speaker 8 (01:15:36):
So my bad?

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
How's that for?

Speaker 9 (01:15:38):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:15:39):
And now we'll just blow our nose every time we
disagree with the take, right there you go? Maybe in true,
So sorry about that, my man. I thought I thought
my mic was off. Hey, even thirty years into the business,
you screw it up when it comes to turn your
mic on that being said, do you believe John I'm
being serious about this now? Do you think Alex Bregman's
best offensive season is behind him?

Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
You do?

Speaker 8 (01:16:02):
Well?

Speaker 5 (01:16:03):
Yeah, I mean you know I've called on this before.

Speaker 14 (01:16:06):
I mean, you know, like we let Korea go in spring,
but none of those guys came back to haunt us.

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
I mean there we got their best years and it
is that's a fact to date. That is a fact
so far.

Speaker 14 (01:16:18):
Yeah, I mean, and that is a formula that has
worked for the Astros. And you know, I think they
need to focus more on building the uh building the
farm system and uh doing what they've been doing, you know,
just uh using the metrics and things like that, and
you know, they need to get back to basics that
got them to where they were. But uh, you know

(01:16:40):
Bregman's best years are behind them. And I you know,
does that does that warrant what a five increase?

Speaker 5 (01:16:47):
It?

Speaker 14 (01:16:47):
No, it's not that much.

Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
Butt, I mean you know that.

Speaker 14 (01:16:50):
I don't think it warrants a big increase in pay
like that.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
I just don't.

Speaker 7 (01:16:54):
You know.

Speaker 14 (01:16:54):
I'm sorry, you know you got to be but you
got to think coldally about it and Uh, I just
think we've seen his best.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Years and uh, and they've been good years, don't get
me wrong. But I just don't want to.

Speaker 14 (01:17:07):
See them get tied up with another bad contract, that's all.
And uh, you know again, I think there's other areas
of weakness they need to focus on or you know,
I know they have some good prospects as well, but uh,
that's my thinking, to be honest.

Speaker 5 (01:17:24):
Great point, and I promise we're not losing using nose
blowing as a way to tell people we can't stand
what they said. Okay, but it's not a bad idea.
It's not a bad ideas. I've said, my bike's off,
I'm trying to blow it. And you notice I also
turned over here.

Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
I wish I wish I could have had a could
have recorded your action when you saw that. I was
laughing and you look down and you saw your.

Speaker 5 (01:17:51):
Guys hearing me blow my nose so it doesn't run
and I got to keep and there's nothing more your
taking where you're sittinground somebody they're doing this too. Yeah,
so you blow and I thought it's glad, But you
know what, maybe that needs to be part of the sound.

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
Oh, give it a take right right. Yeah, that was.

Speaker 5 (01:18:09):
Hard and I have my part of my insides ended
up in Yeah, as far as John's is still rolling
with hell?

Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
Is that background noise or Sean must really not like
what I'm saying? Yeah? Accident, Thanks buddy, Oh every now
and then us up. Great this of live radio. It's
for the best, unfiltered, right, what we do? What are
you gonna do?

Speaker 6 (01:18:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
What are you gonna do? Life?

Speaker 10 (01:18:33):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
Crap? Opp and sake your scholars. I should have just
blamed it on technology, so I turned it off to micro.

Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
I was supposed to do. I confess transparency. I confess
I did it. Okay, let's get in the eight o'clock hour.

that mean on a grander scale? That's next right here
on Sports Talk seven ninety Specs, Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods.

Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Pick of the Week and Drink of the Week. AMC Championship,
NFC Championship. This Sunday in the NFL, Well, Washington Commanders
at the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly's favored by six, So we're
gonna take the Commanders plus those points.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
I think they can at least cover.

Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
I think Philadelphia might be able to contain Jaden Daniels,
but we'll roll with the Commanders plus six to cover.
And then when you are drinking and watching those games
at your watch party or whatever you're gonna be doing
this weekend, the drink of the week it's called the

rim of your glass with some tahen. You combine all
of that together, shake it all up, you know, stir it.
It's great. It's an easy drink to make, and it
is so damn good. Red Zone Margarita found at Spex
online dot com and they that is all with Spex, Winespears,

(01:19:49):

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):

Speaker 12 (01:20:39):
Saulisbury, Oby Houston.

Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Sewan Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
To Usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
Bryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.

Speaker 4 (01:20:59):
Awesome texts, news and notes. They parted ways with their
team president, Greg Grissom. He was with the organization for
twenty five years, the last four spent as the team president.
The Houston Texans have amically parted ways with team president

(01:21:21):
Greg Grissom, the club announced on Thursday. This is an
official press release from the Houston Texans quote. We want
to thank Greg for his contributions to the organization since
he became our team president in twenty twenty one. Greg
helped me implement numerous initiatives to help our organization feelerssly,
evolve and grow in many ways, which we are very
thankful for. We wish Greg and his family all the
best in the future. We will provide updates regarding the

(01:21:44):
team's next president the coming days end quote that coming
from Chair and CEO Cal McNair, and then the official
statement from Greg Grissom quote, leading the Houston Texans business
operations has been the opportunity of a lifetime. After almost
twenty five years with the Texans, including the last year
four as president, I feel it's the right time to
embrace new challenges and opportunities. I want to thank Janis

(01:22:06):
McNair Callan Hanna McNair for their support and the opportunity
to help lead this organization. Goes on to talk about
building stuff with his teammates and thanking the fans, so
forth and so on. Again, this was more on the
business side, probably not the most on the roster construction
from what I understand. So obviously it's a big deal

(01:22:28):
anytime you hear a team president is let go. But
I wouldn't I wouldn't assume that this is gonna affect
anything personnel wise with Nick Caserio.

Speaker 8 (01:22:39):
Doubt it.

Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:22:40):
I mean, I'm sure they enjoyed working together, but I
don't think under this these this regime, that the president
is involved heavily in personnel decisions on the field, those
types of who they're drafting the rest. I would think
that's a Nick Cassario, Demiko Ryan's approval by the McNair family,

(01:23:02):
you know, whether it's NFL free agent draft trade. But
I would think that Nick and Demiko or handle that.
And in truth, remember both the Greg's been here. Well,
Greg was here when Demiko was a player, right, So
with this now those two can go shoulder to shoulder
and maybe assist in the McNair's in finding somebody did also,

(01:23:24):
not saying that Greg didn't, but that it stands in
line with what they're thinking as well. Right, whether it's
an out of the box somebody outside the organization that
supports everything they're doing, but brings in a little bit
of different perspective, which is not bad. If everybody's agreeing
on everything sitting in those meetings, that's not a good thing.
Opposition's a good thing one time, as long as it's
respectful opposition.

Speaker 1 (01:23:46):
Support.

Speaker 5 (01:23:47):
Supportive opposition is a good thing, and so maybe they'll
go find somebody to say okay, and maybe the next
person has a little more you know that they want
more involved in football stuff. But I'm assuming that the
community relations and the fans and business acquisitions and you know,
whatever vertical that falls under is something that the president
will be you know, then they'll search for the right

(01:24:08):
one and do that, do their due diligence. I don't
think it's gonna affect what you I don't think it's
gonnaffect performance on the field, no on no one way
or another.

Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
But it is kind of, excuse me, kind of interesting
timing of it after the season, and again it goes
back into well maybe they're evaluating everything business side, on
the field side. Everything is being evaluated as the season
came to a close.

Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
Well, man, you know how I feel.

Speaker 5 (01:24:29):
Yeah, I would evaluate every I evaluate every person in
the building every year.

Speaker 1 (01:24:36):
Why wouldn't you. It's it's a job.

Speaker 5 (01:24:39):
Performance reviews that happen all the time. And I well,
you know how teams get stale and Greg's may just
been Greg was ready. It says it's amicable, right, And
I know, was it mutual as well. Amicable means they
were in good city, in good natured and in good standing.
Everything's fine, whether it was fired, replaced, moved on, went
in there and said, yeah, I'm ready to move on

(01:24:59):
for a new challenge.

Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
Whatever it is. If they're moving on, you know whatever
reason I I to me, it is evaluations.

Speaker 5 (01:25:10):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
What when you get stale in an organization.

Speaker 5 (01:25:14):
Is when somebody, like in government, when somebody can stay
there for one hundred years and they and they don't
have it, They have no way to switch their thought
process and they just keep doing the same thing over
and over, fresh new.

Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
And it doesn't mean you have to go get a
thirty year old. It can be a seventy year old.

Speaker 5 (01:25:30):
But something fresh, an outside thinker that's supportive inside.

Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
You got to you gotta have.

Speaker 5 (01:25:35):
You got to challenge the system, meaning to push the envelope.
If you're going to get better, if everybody thinks the same,
forget it. And if you if you're evaluating saying oh yeah,
that part's been here for twenty years, we'll just leave
them alone. Well is it stale or are they still
doing their Still they still elevate in the building. So
you're that that's the next stage and finding a president
will be important for a lot of different reasons that

(01:25:56):
they're all in, you know, in stride.

Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
With Yeah, yeah, time he was pretty interesting, man.

Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
And again like it's thet during the season, right oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (01:26:07):
And uh, I was respectful. You don't want to disrupt
stuff while the season is going on.

Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
Man, dude, what a long run for him, man, twelve
five years with the organization. You don't see that much
in sports.

Speaker 4 (01:26:17):
Oh you don't, man, I mean unless you're trend Balki
you figure franchise long.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
I know that.

Speaker 4 (01:26:24):
But I'm saying he he could everything you ever hear
about that guy, or at least over the last couple
of days, that he's just not good at his job
wherever he's gone, and yet he continues to get jobs
in the NFL. That's more so what I'm talking about,
just the longevity of him being in the NFL finding
big time jobs.

Speaker 5 (01:26:39):
Every everybody, everybody needs a a break like that, right
where you can just kind of go from one organization
to the next and and keep a gig when you
may not be great at it.

Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
Yeah, it's good to know people it is, man, it
is excuse me.

Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
And then as we get into you know, closer to
the Super Bowl again, it's like I said a couple
of days ago, Dimiko Ryans, I would assume is going
to start. Maybe we'll start to hear something on Monday
in regards to him evaluating his staff. I'm just curious, man,
will Bobby Slowog be back?

Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
Are you talking about be back because he's fired or
be back because he went and took a job. I'll
be back because he's let go.

Speaker 5 (01:27:25):
I guys, think about in a year, the narrative that
shifted here about how they feel, not not the Texans,
but how certain fans feel about play caller. At this
time last year, everybody was pleased, don't let him go.
He's head coach in waiting. Let's we keep him as
long as we can. It's amazing how it shifted all

(01:27:46):
of a sudden, and maybe they approached a little more conservative,
They didn't attack as much. Whatever reason it is, he'll
be evaluated. I would actually be shocked, in the right word,
a little surprised that they moved on from him. Yeah,
this year, I'm talking about what I say, moved on,
meaning you just fire you're replacing him, I'll be a
little surprised. The continuity is going well, and I think,

(01:28:06):
you know, after three years, like a player, I get
a pretty good idea unless the guy's just a hack,
and Bobby Sloak has not been a hack here. So
I'm gonna say that they're gonna I'm gonna say they're
going to live with this one more year. And if
I'm wrong, then there's something going on behind it that
we that we don't know about when it comes to
philosophical differences, because by all accounts, everybody gets along fine, right,

(01:28:27):
but you got to perform. And I'm sure that he's
at it and judging his staff now, I don't think
everybody there is going to be there. If Bobby slok
and they sit down, I think that there's still strides
to be made, and I think that you can afford
one more year with him to see if this is
the right coordinator for your team. Yeah, running back for
the third year, get him healthy. Yeah, and at the
end of the third year, if you've taken a step

(01:28:47):
back again, he'll.

Speaker 1 (01:28:48):
Be time to move on. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
I think with the off season, Nicosario and Dimko Ryans
will come together and I think they're going to make
some some moves that are that are definitely needed, because
I feel like they know what type of team they have.
Defensive you've got the defense you need, You got the
quarterback you need, you got the running back, figure out
the offensive line, and then add another playmaker, whether that's

(01:29:11):
bringing back Stefon Diggs or going to get in t Higgins,
whatever the case is.

Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
I want them both. Yeah, greedy, Yeah, yeah, it's like pictures, man.
I want to give them all. I want them both.

Speaker 5 (01:29:21):
Find a way to work and then get that sound
that capologist to his brilliance with numbers, and find a
way to work the salary capt where you can more playmakers.

Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Listen the great teams unless.

Speaker 5 (01:29:32):
You've got some outlier that's just a quarterback so good,
he doesn't need great players around him, which don't happen
very often in this league to win, and you go
get all the players you can that make your team better.
And if that means a guy who's been here eight
years can't stay, I it's it's business. It's that that
mean we can't still have a beer together, But it
is business, and the business of this is they fell

(01:29:53):
short for more than one reason, and it's got to
get fixed, right.

Speaker 1 (01:29:58):
I know it's gonna sound crazy. I'm also evaluating fairbarn.
Oh yeah, you have to. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:30:05):
Why did all the guy go from making a fifty
five yard to look like an extra point to making
an extra point look like a seventy yarder?

Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
Yeah happened?

Speaker 8 (01:30:14):
What happened?

Speaker 5 (01:30:15):
On the simple stuff is there is there a concentration
issue when it's a when it's an easy kick for him?

Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
Did there was something going on? What happened that turned
him into.

Speaker 5 (01:30:23):
Damn as opposed to damn when he's you know, when
he's pumping in three from fifty yards beyond in the
same game.

Speaker 1 (01:30:30):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (01:30:30):
Yeah, So I'm evaluating them all, and that means every
coach player because as a head coach, if the people
you have on your roster or in toe with you,
that are standing toe to toe with you or shouldered
shoulder in the building to put a game plan in
are not matching your expectations and they're falling short, guess
who the first to go when all of it happens
is or the big one to go if it happens

(01:30:51):
three or four years in a row and you've done
nothing about it.

Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
As a head coach. Coach is your responsibility, you will
get fired. Yeah, head coach gone.

Speaker 5 (01:30:57):
Yeah, so you got to You got to make sure
that this staff is the one, not the staff, that
can win a division. Not the staff then get you
the playoffs. All those can only happen, not the division,
but getting to the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
Division.

Speaker 5 (01:31:09):
You can win the division, get your ass kicked every
year in the playoff. But the only way you get
to the super Bowl is by making sure that the
guys you evaluate, you think give you the best chance
to get to February. If they don't, you must make
a change at any position or any coaching staff.

Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
And then when you go into the offseason, man, shoot
for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land amongst
the stars.

Speaker 1 (01:31:31):
Yeah yeah, you may never get perfection, but excellence is attainable.
Damn right, strife for greatness?

Speaker 5 (01:31:36):
Yeah yeah, Ready to go work out, ready to run
through a wall.

Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 9 (01:31:42):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:31:43):
Oh, I mean, could you imagine shooting for the moon
but you miss and you still land amongst the stars?

Speaker 5 (01:31:48):
Come on? Oh yeah, buddy, the cow jumped over the
moon at one point. Whatever you want to say, cou
jumped over the moon. To my knowledge, I saw it.

Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
Saw it. Check that out, man, unbelievable. Wow, that's versatile.

Speaker 5 (01:32:01):
That's way better. Athletic athletic ability. Really a combine freak. Yeah,
lucky man.

Speaker 1 (01:32:10):
She was amazing. I mean the town was amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:32:14):
PhDa right with a pH Yeah exactly. Hey, let's continue
to talk about these Houston Texans. Joe Mixon had an
interesting sound. Body talked about the offense and how it
struggled to gel at times.

Speaker 1 (01:32:25):
That's next.

Speaker 6 (01:32:27):
Let the celebration start war.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Sean Salisbury a Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (01:32:34):

don't do that. So she's a German shepherd. Why don't

Speaker 2 (01:33:27):

Speaker 1 (01:33:27):
Oh no, Lassie, No, don't call her last Brandon. Why
don't you call her? Well, never mind, don't call her
eight for dinner? You call her that? Just call her? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:33:41):

Speaker 1 (01:33:44):
We should? We should? Brandy? Do you have any ideas
for a name yet?

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
I bought her name for her?

Speaker 1 (01:33:52):
And is she a puppy? Is she a puppy?

Speaker 5 (01:33:55):
She is? Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
No, she got hit bike?

Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Uh, she got hit by Uh? I think she found her.

Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
You found her on the side of the road. Oh,
I took a turn. Man. Is she okay?

Speaker 6 (01:34:16):
She's fine?

Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Oh you can't say she got hit by a car
and then be like, oh, yeah, she's fine. You're scared
us over here?

Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Man, the old dog got hit by a car.

Speaker 5 (01:34:25):
Who your old dog got hit by a car. How's
your new German shepherd? Is your new German shepherd pump
here to get hit by a car?

Speaker 1 (01:34:32):
Is it both?

Speaker 5 (01:34:33):
Or maybe it's a dog? Tell me about Tell me
about where you found this German shepherd?

Speaker 3 (01:34:39):
My mom found uh this way, she was fostering.

Speaker 1 (01:34:47):
The she's fostering the dog.

Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
Okay, so this this, this German shepherd you have currently,
Brandon did not get hit by a car.

Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
No, your previous dog got hit by a car. Is
that correct?

Speaker 16 (01:34:59):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
I took a turn. All right. Well I'm glad.

Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
I'm sorry about your previous dog, and I'm glad this
one's okay. So maybe Brian and I will start to
come up, maybe tomorrow when you call, or Monday when
you call. I'm sure we'll hear from you on Monday.
Maybe we'll have a couple of names or suggestions if
you guys haven't found one yet.

Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
Any thoughts for or any pots for the Super Bowl?

Speaker 5 (01:35:21):
Name or Zena, any thoughts about the Super Bowl? What
are your thoughts about what who's going to be there?

Speaker 18 (01:35:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
Name her chee chee. How about uh cheach chee chee. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:35:33):
I think a lot of people think it's gonna be Philadelphia,
Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (01:35:35):
I'm gonna go opposite. I'm going Buffalo and Washington. There
you go, I think Buffalo. How's that? Just for the
hell of it, name or Flow.

Speaker 5 (01:35:45):
Don't name her Flow, especially if she's a female. You
don't want to name her that guy. Name her Raven yeah.
Oh I like Raven. Yeah, well all right, Brandon, we
appreciate it. Good luck with that dog. We'll give you
some names on Monday. Thanks Brandon and Joyan.

Speaker 1 (01:35:58):
I got puppies, I got car everyone. What the hell
just happened? What cut me deep?

Speaker 9 (01:36:05):
I know?

Speaker 4 (01:36:05):
Man Hart started to drop man. Well, she's a puppy,
but she was sit by a car. No, my old
dog got hit?

Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
But what yeh?

Speaker 1 (01:36:12):
Come on, dog man? All right, name our ivy? Where
are you coming up with these names?

Speaker 6 (01:36:18):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:36:19):
Top one hundred female dog names. Okay, name heer, Luna,
that's played out.

Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
No, not Polly. These are terrible names. Ella, Tina, Tara, Luna.

Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
Pudding.

Speaker 5 (01:36:37):
Calling a dog pudding unless you're a redneck pud from
like Viter, you ain't calling her pudding pudding.

Speaker 6 (01:36:46):
Pudding?

Speaker 8 (01:36:48):
No, no, God.

Speaker 4 (01:36:50):
Could you imagine Cody Johnson getting on stage and talking
about a dog?

Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Oh god, I would. I would jump off the stage
with him. Who are dog lovers? Dedicate my song paint
the dogs too? Support our dogs?

Speaker 5 (01:37:11):
Why are you on, Cody john Why are you all on?

Speaker 1 (01:37:13):
I got some audio.

Speaker 5 (01:37:15):
I was a little nervous about Brandon when he said
dog got hit.

Speaker 6 (01:37:17):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:37:19):
Yeah, what is going on? It is okay? I think
god the dog's okay. Got great news. He did it.
Then he talked about his dog. They told me dog
got hit by a car. I'm like, what's not great news?

Speaker 5 (01:37:29):
Brandon man Brando, I'm glad they I'm glad they went
rescue the dog. Oh Man.

Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
I forgot to ask him if he was going to
be a fan fest tomorrow Ashra's Fan Fast eleven to
four tomorrow, Sean and I are on the broadcast two
to four at min and May Park.

Speaker 1 (01:37:41):
Come say hello, stuck to Andy.

Speaker 5 (01:37:45):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (01:37:45):
Andy?

Speaker 16 (01:37:47):
Hey, guys, uh, you know we always oh by the way, Uh,
you don't pay Breakman no more. You make him take
what they offered him.

Speaker 1 (01:37:56):
Yep, I'm with you on that one. Oh agreed, Yep,
that's right.

Speaker 16 (01:38:01):
And the guy who made a stab at Dubon, I
you know i'd ask earlier in the broadcast. I'd ask
him to go look at the third outfielders for the
Yankees and the Dodgers, and Dubon is better than those
guys that were playing in the outfields. People don't understand
you're not going to have great players playing at every position.

(01:38:22):
Dubon would be a good third third outfielder for your team.
All right, So I was looking at a site that
graded the offensive line last year.

Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
Where do you think it was a Pro Football focus?

Speaker 16 (01:38:40):
You know, I don't know what it was, okaff it
was it was another site that I found. But where
do you think they had the Texans offensive line?

Speaker 7 (01:38:50):
And this is the problem.

Speaker 16 (01:38:51):
Eight is the problem?

Speaker 1 (01:38:52):
Twenty eight? Oh no, thirty seconds?

Speaker 16 (01:38:56):
Huh thirty first?

Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
Thirty first, that's tough. There's only one place to go.
You still got one slot down, but a bunch up.

Speaker 16 (01:39:04):
Yeah, and eleven of the top thirteen or playoff teams.
Imagine that.

Speaker 1 (01:39:11):
Who is the worst thing?

Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
Andy?

Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
Who they have last?

Speaker 5 (01:39:15):
You know what?

Speaker 16 (01:39:15):
I don't even know about it?

Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
Okay, that's okay, don't worry about it, man, no big deal.

Speaker 16 (01:39:21):
Well here the Steelers are at twenty four and the
Chargers were at eighteen. Those are the three outliners. What
do we know about the Chargers, Steelers in Texas? Texas?
They all had great, really really good defenses. So well,
the Chargers didn't have that greater defense, but the Steelers
in Texans did. So that right there tells you if

(01:39:44):
you don't get you know who number one they had
Dinver Broncos. And that's that's how you know how bo
Nicks did so well as a rookie.

Speaker 7 (01:39:56):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 16 (01:39:59):
We pray he's Casario and I do too. But where
he's where he's swung and missed and it's hurting us
is the offensive line. Because first rounder, you got Green,
he's been a thud. Shaq Mason, my goodness, the extension

(01:40:19):
he gave him. Do you know Shaq Mason is paid
like the the fifteenth highest guard. No, you know what
he graded out as this year? Are you ready for this?
This is pff sixty fifth. He was worse than a
backup guard. Howard Howard is paid as the fourteenth best tackle.

(01:40:48):
He graded out forty first. Tunzel third highest paid tackle.
He graded out twenty third. There's and the problem is
you've got you got Howard and Tunzel to next year
and then their contracts up. You got Mason until twenty six.

(01:41:08):
When he gave him that extension.

Speaker 1 (01:41:11):
That was a bad, bad deal, no doubt.

Speaker 9 (01:41:15):
Man.

Speaker 16 (01:41:15):
He gave up eight sacks last year.

Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
Jeez, not good man.

Speaker 4 (01:41:21):
Yeah, they're gonna have to do something about those those players,
this offense line. We got to get to break, Andy,
we appreciate the call.

Speaker 3 (01:41:25):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:41:27):
Are you saying one last thing?

Speaker 6 (01:41:29):
Before I played this?

Speaker 1 (01:41:29):
I'll say, keep standing up, thank you, Andy, Keep standing
up for real country music too. When I want to
hear pop, I want to hear pop. Here he is,
I want to hear rock. When I want to listen
to Rappert Honald, That's what I listened to. But my god,
when I turn on the punches music, I want it
to sound like country music. This straight got good.

Speaker 14 (01:41:51):
God?

Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Why are you so down on what would happen to you? Man?
He's like, if you guys, don't mind before I play
this song.

Speaker 2 (01:41:59):
You know what, Cody?

Speaker 5 (01:42:00):
We do mine, dude, we do.

Speaker 1 (01:42:02):
This is your eighth time doing this, So you.

Speaker 4 (01:42:05):
Are down, keep keep keep heading on for country music.
When I want to hear pop, I want to hear pop.
We want to hear you sing. Cody, shut up, man,
you're so.

Speaker 1 (01:42:15):
Down not for country music. You're so down on code
dog hell is?

Speaker 4 (01:42:19):
Who the hell is not standing up for country music? Cody,
you're singing out in front of a sold out crowd.

Speaker 5 (01:42:25):
When he wants country music. Don't you understand that he
wants it like this? That that's that's code dog man.

Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
You guys don't mind for us sing this song.

Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
You guys don't mind.

Speaker 1 (01:42:35):
I mean, I know I've done this nine times already tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:42:39):
Because I treat this as a sermon too, y'all come
see me at church tomorrow, Cowboy church up there, Montgomery.

Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
I want you to tell the people that you got
a new do Tell him he said you got a
new dog and you named it? Uh, hey, don't mind
if I do this real quick and tell him it's
biblical too. Before before I get to my next song,
call dance her home.

Speaker 4 (01:43:01):
I just got me a new dog. I named him
Isaiah had Isaiah twenty thirty three, and then the Bible
because we are God.

Speaker 5 (01:43:09):
Fair man here in Texas?

Speaker 12 (01:43:10):
Can I get a name?

Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
You're a friggid idiot.

Speaker 12 (01:43:16):
Can I get to name?

Speaker 1 (01:43:16):
Where are my first responders? Let's give it up? Where
my dog lovers? You cannot do? Cody Johnson, like, where.

Speaker 6 (01:43:26):
Are my dog lovers?

Speaker 12 (01:43:27):
Who's the name of its driver?

Speaker 16 (01:43:29):
Here?

Speaker 1 (01:43:30):
I know you guys want to dance her home. Let's
get to it.

Speaker 14 (01:43:33):
Throwing two three.

Speaker 1 (01:43:35):
You are a freaking idiot.

Speaker 5 (01:43:38):
I can't believe this dog's name is Anthony Why are
you so down on a code? Dog man?

Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
That hurts James as well? They're all biblical names.

Speaker 8 (01:43:46):
Can I get another?

Speaker 12 (01:43:46):

Speaker 1 (01:43:48):

Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 1 (01:44:15):
How would that freedom sound? How would Cody say it?

Speaker 5 (01:44:17):
Call? Call your dog? Got yeah, let him know, let
him go. Cody's going, He's out of problem me.

Speaker 1 (01:44:24):
Where's the dog at?

Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
He'd be right outside?

Speaker 6 (01:44:28):
Damn it? Freedom?

Speaker 1 (01:44:30):
Hi, Freedom, America, dinner time, Freedom, Freedom, Come on, get
out over here. Yeah, come on Freedom. Hey babe, I
got freedom back in the in the house.

Speaker 4 (01:44:43):
Don't you ever forget We live in America and it's
the free country, Home of the Home of the Free.

Speaker 1 (01:44:48):
And land of the brave. You know he calls her
baby too. Oh yeah, hi, baby, baby.

Speaker 9 (01:44:55):
Baby.

Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
Where's the freedom?

Speaker 5 (01:44:56):

Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
Man, I love him.

Speaker 4 (01:45:14):
I'll tell you what if I wanted to hear a sermon,
I just go to church, all right. I'm not paying
for you to talk to me about life, Cody Johnson,
You're not, are you?

Speaker 6 (01:45:23):
No?

Speaker 7 (01:45:23):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (01:45:24):
Just I want you to sing? Maybe you maybe you
should tell me, maybe you need more of that. You
need more Jesus Jesus.

Speaker 19 (01:45:28):
I know that.

Speaker 1 (01:45:29):
Yeah, I think you need a lot more Jesus. You
want Cody Johnson preaching it to you? Yeah, oh you do.
I sure do.

Speaker 5 (01:45:35):
I absolutely do. A matter of fact, hopefully he's gonna
give us give a talk at church. I'm gonna go
listen to it. If it's at church, yeah, yeah, I'm
more concert. No, not the World's Pavilion.

Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
Listen. You know what the stage is.

Speaker 5 (01:45:46):
It's the World's his oyster.

Speaker 1 (01:45:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:45:48):
True, And you need to put some respect on the
damn thing. Hurts really actually cuts me kind of deep.

Speaker 4 (01:45:55):
I know Ryan Montgomery, he's a big, big Cody Johnson guy.
He's probably see him perform up in Huntsville.

Speaker 1 (01:46:01):
Didn't you Ryan.

Speaker 16 (01:46:03):
Before I talk?

Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
If you don't mind, you need to put some respect
on Kojo right here.

Speaker 7 (01:46:11):
Bro, Damn, you're laying in my boy.

Speaker 5 (01:46:14):
I love Cody Johnson's music, but dude, yeah, that's what
I love the nickname.

Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
Just some respect on Kojo. That's what everybody used to
call him. Man, Man, you gotta you gotta respect Kojo,
him and him and Joel hosting about the same.

Speaker 5 (01:46:26):
You know.

Speaker 9 (01:46:27):
What what what what? They're not that's real that one him.

Speaker 1 (01:46:31):
Yeah, No, they're actually not they're not respect.

Speaker 18 (01:46:34):
I remember. I remember for five dollars for five dollars
at Shenanigans when I went to say them for five dollars,
U see Cod Cod, Cody Johnson and Aaron Watson Watkins.
Five dollars was what it was, wild man. But no,
the bills they need they need to They got it.
It's gonna be chiefs are out, man. It's bills have

(01:46:58):
got it. Josh Allen's gonna have a game. Marham was
gonna be taking taking people out.

Speaker 7 (01:47:04):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:47:04):
It's gonna be good.

Speaker 18 (01:47:05):
But also, uh, Brandon, if you're listening, am your dog Ava?

Speaker 9 (01:47:10):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
That's what usuld name Ava. It's my cousin's name. I
have an av my my nieces daughter. Okay, there you go, yeah, yeah, huh.

Speaker 18 (01:47:27):
Well do anyways? I wanted to call in and say hi,
it's been a minute. Yeah man, it's working on my
way to tombol right now, there you go. But no, Hey,
the Montgomery Church, the Montgomery Cowboy Church. Man, it's pretty nice.

Speaker 8 (01:47:42):
Do you go? I have?

Speaker 1 (01:47:45):
Okay, I should, I should do well. You guys both
need more.

Speaker 6 (01:47:52):
Jesus, it's literally a barn dud.

Speaker 1 (01:47:55):
Yeah, go figure.

Speaker 5 (01:47:57):
Jesus. All right, appreciate I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:48:00):
Hear from you.

Speaker 7 (01:48:01):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:48:01):
Let's let's talk to Scott. I gotta know Scott. We
got a note here. Are you known as the terminator?

Speaker 7 (01:48:08):
That's called the determinator?

Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
Okay, what's happening man?

Speaker 7 (01:48:14):
Well, I gotta get my two sents. In this AFC
NFC Championship game for the Eagles, they almost got to
play a perfect game to beat Washington because their defense,
the way they played the trait, I can see the tree,
I mean, Washington taking out Billy. As for the Bills,
Kansas City is cooked. Josh's gonna walk all over and

(01:48:35):
curb stop him.

Speaker 16 (01:48:35):
So that's happens.

Speaker 7 (01:48:39):
Fresh alle fresh hot the Houston marathon and fired up.

Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
Oh you ran the marathon. How you feeling today?

Speaker 9 (01:48:44):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:48:44):
You a little sore in congression? Or did that that
heal up for you over the week?

Speaker 13 (01:48:49):
Oh?

Speaker 16 (01:48:49):
It heeled up.

Speaker 11 (01:48:50):
I ran for little over four miles this morning.

Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
Good god, you run? Do you run every day? I'm
assuming you run every day?

Speaker 13 (01:48:57):
That every day every other day runs forward to six
miles today.

Speaker 4 (01:49:00):
So my goodness. Man, hey, I gotta I got an
honest question. I gotta ask you what what what shoes
do you use when you run?

Speaker 7 (01:49:08):
I wear between the zunos and uh?

Speaker 4 (01:49:13):
Okay, good for you man, congrats on running that marathon.
That's a big accomplishment, Scott. We appreciate the call.

Speaker 1 (01:49:20):
Man, sure do. Congrats brother, Yeah, that's Scott Man did
he's a determinator or the terminator? I think he said determined? Yeah,
determination determinator. When are you running a marathon? Sean?

Speaker 5 (01:49:32):
Uh, I'm preparing for the Boston Marathon? Oh okay, okay
in New York City, Boston. I was gonna knock him out.
I probably still won't stop there. I'll probably excuse it
to the uh triathlon too, you know, really, what are
you Jim Thorpe, Probably head out to Juaikona, knock that
one out. Yeah, a couple of days training, okay, yeah, yeah,
probably probably focus on that.

Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
Yeah, why go small? Yeah exactly. It's because I could
go back to what I said about the Texans Man.

Speaker 4 (01:49:58):
You gotta you gotta shoot for them, know, shoot for
the moon and if you miss, then you land amongst
the stars.

Speaker 1 (01:50:03):
There you go. It's it's it's incredible. That should be
the mantra for just for us in life, shoot for
the moon. Yeah. Yeah, Why would you want to end
up short? You don't. You never want to be short anywhere? No,
and you just don't.

Speaker 5 (01:50:18):
You don't want to be short unless you're putting right.
It's a layup short to tap in for the wind.
Other than that, there's no other there, there's no other
place you really want to be short. You know what
they say about driving short the stock right? You know
what they say about driving No, what do they say?
Do you drive for show? And you put for you're
talking about on the golf course, Yeah, what do you think?
But if you've got a two putt for wind, you

(01:50:38):
don't want to blow it fifty feet by right, and
then have to three putt to lose the turns. So
you just you know, lag it up there a little
short below the hole. It's the only place you want
to be below the hole is right there, so you
can tap it in for for for a par or
a birdie in the outright lead right. I love the
when they say it's just for a birdie in the
outright lad right sole possession of first place? Do you say,

(01:51:02):
short of the what of the hole? Okay, yeah, short
of the hole. We'll make sure you can just tap
go up in there, just just a little tap in,
just a little.

Speaker 4 (01:51:12):
But if you're short, then you're going to struggle anyways,
been reading the put Oh yeah, sometimes.

Speaker 5 (01:51:19):
Well, if you're short, you know, never up, never in right.
That applies to life too well. I think you know
if you're short, you better be up yeah, never up.

Speaker 1 (01:51:27):
Never in Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:51:28):
But there are places where being shorts okay, amuseable parks.
Then you don't have to ride the wild, you don't
have to ride too short, can't get on if you
you know how, buddies will take you today. Some guys
are afraid and they know we're all going on. If
you're happy to shoot, if you're short. You don't have
to you know, maybe you don't pass that test, you
get the easy excuse out of it. But the only

(01:51:50):
place you want to be short is below the hole
for a tap in putt to win on the golf course.
On the golf course, right, yeah, that's the place. Yeah,
always on the golf course. There'll be an amateur. Okay,
don't try to make a birdie when you'll eat a
par Just tap it in, okay, just tap it.

Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
Poop Poopta get more. Two is gonna be coming out
here pretty quick too. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
Well, it's not gonna come out anytime quick. It's going
to take a minute. They just started to tape filming
it this summer, in this fall. Yeah, they'll be they'll
be coming out pretty quick. No, no, yeah, the post production.
They don't have it ready in two months. It's not
what I heard.

Speaker 10 (01:52:24):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:52:24):
Adam told me that to be ready like late this year.

Speaker 5 (01:52:27):
Well, late this year means you mean you mean like
December of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (01:52:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:52:31):
Yeah, I'm going to say it's going to be more see,
no real talk.

Speaker 1 (01:52:35):
It'll be in like four months. It'll be four months.
When's the release date? Sorry? June twenty twenty five. So
there you go. Five months.

Speaker 5 (01:52:44):
Pretty quick means like in the next six months. Yeah,
in the calendar year. Right, that's fair enough. Yeah, yeah,
that's fair enough.

Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
Yeah. I love our guy Ryan, but I'm not naming
my dog Ava.

Speaker 5 (01:52:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:52:55):
You don't want to name a dog after what?

Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
For me?

Speaker 1 (01:52:57):
After what if there's somebody in the family with the
same name. Yeah, I got a cousin named Eva. Yeah
it ain't happening, but I get a cute name, great
name for for a little girl. Yeah for right. Well

you can say you got kilo's you got a brick man,
Oh yeah, he's a brick mans he's a monster now
in a good ways. He's the sweetest guy in the world.
No man, Yeah, yeah, just don't try to, you know,
hop that fence in the middle of the night in
the back.

Speaker 6 (01:53:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:53:59):

and women got something here man.

Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
You know.

Speaker 9 (01:57:05):
What, me and the fellows went to the pistons and
the rockets that happy hour tomorrow with the ladies and
the couples and.

Speaker 16 (01:57:15):
And with the grand keys and the keys.

Speaker 9 (01:57:16):
On the sun, and then me and brown Shitar with
a candlelight.

Speaker 6 (01:57:20):
Then on Mondays.

Speaker 1 (01:57:21):
You know what, I'm with you, man. First off, happy
birthday week to you.

Speaker 5 (01:57:25):
Since we're going with the way the ladies are doing
it now or have been forever, we're just finally catch on.
I think I'm gonna try that with you my birthdays
in March, Brian, I know yours is too. I think
I'm gonna add I think I'm gonna add that to
my repertoire. I'm going to celebrate a birthday month like
every day. It's just yeah, I start gifting myself stuff,

(01:57:45):
go places. Yeah, it's gonna be like forty It's like
it's me like on twenty five days after, I'll still
be saying, oh, it's my birthday.

Speaker 1 (01:57:52):
Yeah, I'm in dude. That's that's the greatest greatest racket in.

Speaker 5 (01:57:56):
Women's history, because that is a woman's thing now, is
There's no question.

Speaker 9 (01:58:01):
Yes, it's it's It's a racket. Man.

Speaker 11 (01:58:04):
If you can't beat them.

Speaker 6 (01:58:05):
Joining them, I am.

Speaker 1 (01:58:06):
I am with you one hundred percent. Most of the time.

Speaker 5 (01:58:09):
They're gonna win anyway, so you might as well join
them in it, brother, anyway, instead of something for just
enjoy the thrill of victory.

Speaker 1 (01:58:16):
Man, I love it.

Speaker 9 (01:58:21):
I love My grandfather used to always say, Man, we're
dealing with women. Shine, always get the last word in,
and the last word is.

Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
Yes, ma'am, that's exactly right. But me up exactly right.

Speaker 6 (01:58:34):
Let me say this, Shine.

Speaker 9 (01:58:35):
You had a call earlier to say that you think
that the Eagles had to play a perfect game to win.
I think it's exact opposite. I think Washington has to
play a perfect game to win. I think the Eagles
with the run and the defense, Washington can't turn the
ball over. They defense gotta be stout against the run.
They they they're gonna have to play above their heads
and they gonna, you know, win this week.

Speaker 5 (01:58:56):
And they're going on the road to a team. Yeah,
tough place us to play too, right, Just get hard place, man, right.

Speaker 9 (01:59:04):
And then the Eagles have seen Jaydon Daniels on a
couple of cages, so it ain't gonna be nothing new
to them. So Uh, it's gonna it's gonna be tough
for the Uh, there's the commanders to get out of
the Eagles, unless you know, like I say, if they
help them out with you know, fumbles or turnovers or
something of that nature. But I just I just can't
see Washington winning the Eagles winning that game.

Speaker 6 (01:59:28):
And then the second game. I want to say, I
want to, I want.

Speaker 9 (01:59:32):
To say, Buffalo Shinpa.

Speaker 19 (01:59:33):
I just can't do it.

Speaker 9 (01:59:34):
I just can't do it.

Speaker 11 (01:59:35):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:59:36):
Yeah, I think both the road teams I want. Yeah,
I'd love both road teams to go in and do
their business. But it's gonna be very difficult, and by
both the road teams forget that they're on the road.

Speaker 1 (01:59:45):
But it does matter. They're gonna have to play.

Speaker 5 (01:59:48):
You know, we know what Buffalo Allen's gonna have to
dress in the phone booth and in Washington against Philly.
The one thing about Philly is they can beat you.
You got to take away Barkley, which is hard to ask.
Everybody wants to and nobody has been able to. So
if you're fortunate enough to do that, eliminate him or
at least he doesn't dominate. Now, you got the problem

(02:00:08):
if you're gonna take him out of the game. Guess
what you gotta do, Biskey. You know you've got to
come up and put a bunch of guys to the
line of scrimmage, which then says you're gonna play man
coverage on the outside, and DeVante Smith and aj Brown
are both capable of annihilating you if you don't get
to the quarterback. Now, the weakness is they don't throw
the ball real well. I think he had eighteen touchdown passes.

(02:00:28):
He's here through for twenty some hundred, just under three
thousand yards. He's a solid player and a good leader.
But I'm gonna take my chances with making him beat
me down the field throwing at Jalen Hurts than I
am playing too deep zone against Barkley and let him
run crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:00:42):
So you're right, you're gonna it's gonna.

Speaker 5 (02:00:44):
Take a lot and I don't want to say out
of body experience, but it's gonna take a lot of
execution to stop that. And the Eagles defense on the
other side is one of the best in the league.
So you're facing a tough task. Now, I love Jayden Daniels,
but it's gonna They're gonna have to play their best
game to win.

Speaker 1 (02:01:01):
I would agree.

Speaker 9 (02:01:05):
That guy Jalen Carter for the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (02:01:07):
Roun he's a freaky yeah. Yeah, he's a different level of.

Speaker 9 (02:01:15):
Just hopefully entertaining game. That's all I asked. So I
don't have no dog in the fight, So hey, man,
just just entertain us.

Speaker 5 (02:01:21):
Sit back, enjoy the birthday month, keep it rolling, brother,
and happy birthday to you.

Speaker 1 (02:01:26):
And I also enjoy it and enjoy these games.

Speaker 8 (02:01:29):
I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (02:01:29):
It's just I just want to see good football this weekend.
Other than that, I don't really care because neither one
of us have a dog in a fight.

Speaker 1 (02:01:35):
So good to go.

Speaker 5 (02:01:36):
Appreciate you, my man, Thank you, and birthday. He's He's honest.
I'm gonna try that this year.

Speaker 1 (02:01:40):
Are you? Racket is the first? Is the perfect is
the perfect way to describe it.

Speaker 5 (02:01:45):
Just racking around, Okay, and and you we are you
gonna say you can't do well? Tell you deal with it? Yeah? There,
it's birthday week, birthday month. Imagine Pisce season. Dog is
right around the corner. Celebrate all month. Baby, let's go,
let's go triple. When's your birthday is in May?

Speaker 1 (02:02:03):
The fourth?

Speaker 7 (02:02:05):
Be with you.

Speaker 5 (02:02:06):
Yes, I was, yes, yes, a little chewy.

Speaker 1 (02:02:12):
But you gotta get like you gotta get like a.

Speaker 5 (02:02:17):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (02:02:18):
We had I got it.

Speaker 5 (02:02:19):
If I ever told him, if I real quick, Have
I ever told you we're on a plane, my guy
Jim McMahon and I have seat mates.

Speaker 1 (02:02:26):
Dude.

Speaker 5 (02:02:27):
Yeah, we had a flight attendant on that he thought
looked a little like chewy.

Speaker 1 (02:02:31):
Oh no.

Speaker 5 (02:02:33):
And he didn't tell her this, didn't say oh yeah,
yeah female. He thought it kind of reminds you. So
when he she'd walk down the hallway sometimes the ighway,
Mac would and he can do a great chewy. You know,
I can't get it because my throat's not you know
that little yeah, but he would not do with his
tongue you do with throaty.

Speaker 1 (02:02:55):
And then I'd say that I was frigging crying. He's
walking on.

Speaker 2 (02:02:58):
All of a sudden he.

Speaker 5 (02:03:01):
You know, oh two, he does it, and I would cry.
But he never called her cheering. He went to bury,
nothing like that. But every time she walked out, he
just out of nowhere. I think he's sleep and all
of a sudden he blurts out the chewies out. I'm like, dude,
you are purt you are. I like how you priceless.

Speaker 4 (02:03:15):
I like how you led this story by not saying
it was a male or female ad. The slight attendant
looked like, uh, look like she looked like, wait a minute,
what man?

Speaker 5 (02:03:23):
Man? Many Yeah, and he chewed it up and it
if on a five hour flight.

Speaker 1 (02:03:29):
You could imagine what that was like. Oh my god,
I'd be in tears. I was, dude.

Speaker 5 (02:03:33):
I was freaking crying, crying, sight ache crying. By the
time the trup was over. As an idiot in a
good way, I love him.

Speaker 4 (02:03:40):
Oh my gosh, I was getting the nine o'clock hour.
Oh boy, the Dallas Cowboys are trending on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (02:03:46):

Speaker 5 (02:03:48):

or what comes running see.

Speaker 1 (02:07:54):
May not just be a dog that'll come running at you. Bill,
Good luck out there.

Speaker 8 (02:07:57):
That's what I'm afraid of. Hey, I was wondering if
you if you've seen anything on the on the news lines,
did the Astros have any other players that the Cubs
might want to poach here while we're in a role here,
how about vier Garcia? Anybody?

Speaker 9 (02:08:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (02:08:12):
What do you got to take?

Speaker 1 (02:08:13):
Presley? Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it. That's all you got.

Speaker 8 (02:08:18):
We'll take. We'll take anything you got. Man, right now,
what what what are.

Speaker 1 (02:08:22):
You gonna give me? What are you giving us a return?

Speaker 8 (02:08:24):
I will We'll give you dancey sponsor.

Speaker 1 (02:08:27):
How about that, I'll take him. I'll take it. Yeah,
I'll take that.

Speaker 8 (02:08:31):
And you could put him in the left field.

Speaker 1 (02:08:33):
That's fair. I worked out.

Speaker 8 (02:08:34):
That's that.

Speaker 9 (02:08:35):
That give me?

Speaker 5 (02:08:35):
He gave me what twenty five a year? Won't he
give me twenty plus on runs a year?

Speaker 8 (02:08:39):
You have to power yeah with a short porch, Yeah
for sure he can bang off that there's no wind
and wind blowing in over the over the over the walls. Hey,
uh just quick thought, I like uh uh, I like
buffalo on the road.

Speaker 1 (02:08:53):
I don't know why, I just do.

Speaker 7 (02:08:56):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (02:08:56):
I like the way they played run defense last week,
and I like the Eagles. I don't want the Eagles.
I'd love to see the Commanders win just for giggles.
But Sean, they're thinking this morning, you realize after it's
all said and on, we got the final four teams.
Look at the four quarterbacks are all either running tight

(02:09:16):
quarterbacks or quarterbacks who can run.

Speaker 5 (02:09:19):
Bill I made that point. I was on the show yesterday.
We were talking. I said, the thing in common. I mean,
the Chiefs defense is good. Buffalo defense has had their moments,
Josh Allen, but they mix in the run. The pass
is an extension of the run. All the teams or
they run it well with the quarterback or the running game,
but all four quarterbacks. Mahomes does it different. He's not

(02:09:42):
the pure runner, but he kills you with his feet
on off schedule plays. The other three dudes can take
over a game literally with their legs.

Speaker 8 (02:09:51):
You have.

Speaker 5 (02:09:52):
Every single team that's left has two dimensional quarterbacks. They
can destroy you on schedule or off schedule. The biggest
weakness of the four is the pure drop back. Throw
it thirty five times from the pocket passing that maybe
Philadelphia is not the I mean they're numbers that they're good,
but they're not. I mean they're solid. They can beat

(02:10:13):
you there if they get hot. That's not what they
lean on the whole game and haven't this year, although
Hurts is quite capable, hence why he got the new contract.
But what happens is they're receivers. If you think about it,
who's got the best combo of two receivers in the
playoffs left? It's Philadelphia, DeVante Smith and AJ Brown. Whenever
you know what I'm saying when you just talk about
not counting the tight ends, I'm just talking about the

(02:10:34):
two lineup wide receivers that you're gonna run out there
the Philadelphia Eagles. So maybe offset that. The quarterback doesn't
throw it like Allan or Mahomes or Daniels, but he's
got great feet and so you're exactly right. This could
be one of those where quarterback's legs and the extension
of the play ends up beating good defenses in a game.

(02:10:55):
It is true and we all want that now. And
all four of these guys got off schedulability running ability
to destroy a defense tough to prepare.

Speaker 8 (02:11:03):
For and then Washington may actually have the second best group.
I think Terry McLaurin is special NFL. He's he's the
most He's the most unheard of wide receiver or maybe
player in football. That guy is fabulous. But because he
played has played for a uh you know, an ass
team until.

Speaker 5 (02:11:22):
This year he got a quarterback down, I can get
it to him. Yeah, I think he's the most. Yeah,
I think he's the most underrated. If there's anybody more
underrated at his position in the league, I don't think
we've seen him.

Speaker 1 (02:11:31):
I would agree. I think he's special. He's a great player.
Guys agreed.

Speaker 8 (02:11:35):
Guys, have a great weekend, Brian.

Speaker 1 (02:11:37):
Tonight there there we'll screen putting together. Can't wait to
see it. Pudding, see you, dude.

Speaker 5 (02:11:45):
That's because do you ever call your significant other along
your life pudding?

Speaker 1 (02:11:49):
We're gonna have We've we've gone, we've gone over this
show nothing. We but we never said pudding. We didn't.

Speaker 5 (02:11:54):
That's that's when we all that stuff. Yeah, don't call Yeah,
it's snuggle bunny, you know all those things. Don't call
your significant other pudding, pudding, snooks, snook, thems and fringe
worth Yeah, they are. That's that's what's the word that
you hate the most? Starts with the don't you hate
that words?

Speaker 1 (02:12:14):
Voice? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:12:15):
Oh it's brutal. You hate that one, right, I do?
Who doesn't?

Speaker 1 (02:12:18):
Pudding is up there for me? Yeah, like talking about
an individual its fingernails on a chalkboard? Who does that? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:12:27):
I know?

Speaker 5 (02:12:28):
Well, p plenty of people their pet nicknames for somebody.
Some of them are just atrocious and I can't listen
to it. Make you throw up in your.

Speaker 6 (02:12:34):
Mind, I know.

Speaker 5 (02:12:34):
That's what I want to do right now. It's terrible, man,
That's that is deal break comes, deal break this. I
want to call you, No, you don't know, you don't.
I'd rather you cuss at me. Hey, Bunny, I want to.

Speaker 1 (02:12:50):
That's terrible.

Speaker 5 (02:12:50):
I'd rather have you call me a bastard.

Speaker 1 (02:12:54):
I know, dude, you can.

Speaker 5 (02:12:55):
I mean between pudding, bunny, snook 'em's, yeah, bloo bear,
don't I mean all those? Just don't call me late
for dinner. Okay, just don't call me late for dinner,
you know. Yeah, for you to cuss that. If you're
gonna call me anything, call me a jackass again.

Speaker 1 (02:13:15):
You been called that? If you calls it.

Speaker 5 (02:13:17):
We've all been called some some some brutal names, and
I imagine.

Speaker 1 (02:13:19):
Yeah, man, yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (02:13:22):
I've earned every one of them, earned every single one.
Oh good god. But I'll tell you what't Ain't nobody
gonna gonna be calling me a pudding?

Speaker 1 (02:13:31):
Maybe they never know?

Speaker 9 (02:13:33):
What do you?

Speaker 1 (02:13:34):
What if you love her?

Speaker 5 (02:13:35):
What if you love her, I'll call her babe? What
if she loves you? I mean, you guys are love
she calls you pudding and she does, that's just who
she is. Then we're not and she's got and it's
in the form of Lady Wilson's country accent.

Speaker 1 (02:13:49):
Hey, pudding, dinner ready? Yeah? Exactly?

Speaker 5 (02:13:51):
You got the Triangle? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're out here,
you're outside yeah yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:14:00):
Oh dude, honey, Triple, where are you waiting on this?
You calling any of the Zoid's baby baby?

Speaker 1 (02:14:07):

Speaker 11 (02:14:10):

Speaker 1 (02:14:10):

Speaker 4 (02:14:13):
Well, I'll tell you what, man, Triple is in there

Speaker 1 (02:14:37):

Speaker 7 (02:14:40):

Speaker 1 (02:14:40):

Speaker 5 (02:14:54):
And you want if we're working on Valentine's I'm just
making sure. Man, it's a big people holiday.

Speaker 1 (02:14:58):
Some people like to call it Valentine Day? Was it
t I M e. S. Valentine's Day? Is there really
a Saint Valentine? Or is that just a myth? We
make up a bunch of stuff in nowadays. So maybe
there's a Saint Valentine? Is there going to be My Valentine?

Speaker 7 (02:15:15):
Man?

Speaker 5 (02:15:18):
Been there a movie called My Bloody Valentine?

Speaker 1 (02:15:20):
Was that old school like uh sci fi?

Speaker 5 (02:15:22):
Thrillered uh b list the type of movie My Bloody
Valentine Salentine's Day.

Speaker 4 (02:15:28):
Yeah, Saint Valentine was a third century Roman saint. He
can also be known as San Valentino.

Speaker 5 (02:15:35):
Studied some tape on him and then also San Valentinas
studied some tape. He did his strengths.

Speaker 1 (02:15:41):
Dude, he brings it poland.

Speaker 5 (02:15:44):
Oh he brings it, does he yet don't end up
short When he's trying to He's trying to put it in.

Speaker 1 (02:15:49):
He pulls the simple name alone will get him. Saint Valentine.
Oh yeah, that's the man. Man, you got the first name.

Speaker 4 (02:15:54):
Saint you're in Hey, San Valentino, Man, No, no, it's

as say Valentino Valentino.

Speaker 1 (02:16:04):
Hey, man, that's Valentino. Man, that's Saint v Dogs. I
was the Hey man, you.

Speaker 5 (02:16:09):
Brought a priest with you?

Speaker 1 (02:16:10):
Yeah? Once again? Flannel? Yeah, get him a flannel.

Speaker 5 (02:16:14):
Yea, yeah those are you can't continue to dress down
my peeps.

Speaker 1 (02:16:21):
I'm dressing them up. You love my peeps.

Speaker 4 (02:16:23):
Yeah, it's actually kind of offensive that you haven't won
a flannel this season yet.

Speaker 1 (02:16:26):
Oh it's coming when in June.

Speaker 5 (02:16:29):
You know, I guess I should have broken I have
really like, like, what do they call a shirt and
a jacket, A shacket, shacket, A couple of shackets, the
corduroy shack.

Speaker 1 (02:16:38):
That's really cool. I got some Yeah, I love them.

Speaker 5 (02:16:42):
A little flannel underneath, Yeah, yeah, I got I got
all the flannels are coming. I'm a big flannel guy.
Yeah yeah, I'll bust him out here. I'll bust him.

Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
I am a modeling career.

Speaker 5 (02:16:52):
Starts to kick off. Yeah, I got you, I got you,
got you.

Speaker 1 (02:16:58):
You're ready to You're ready to see? Why?

Speaker 7 (02:17:00):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
Triple Eye's Stephen Jones and Dallas Cowboys are trending. I
have a pretty decent idea, but I love to Yes,
why are they trending on Twitter?

Speaker 1 (02:17:09):
That's next?

Speaker 6 (02:17:13):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 4 (02:17:16):
Hey, real quick, I tease it twice. I'm gonna get
to it. John, hang on, don't go anywhere and get
you in a minute.

Speaker 6 (02:17:21):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:17:22):
The Dallas Cowboys look like they're on the finish line,
getting close to the finish line with with hiring Brian
Schottenheimer is their next head coach, Brian Schottenheimer. He is
the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys currently and he does
not call plays because Mike McCarthy called place.

Speaker 5 (02:17:40):
Hey a month ago, a month ago about when would
the Cowboys season?

Speaker 1 (02:17:46):
And a month ago, yeah, yes, about right. Uh huh,
you brought up the well, Mike McCarthy, what are they
going to look for to coach? What did I tell you?
What did I tell you?

Speaker 5 (02:17:59):
They're gonna find a fairly nondescript guy with football background.

Speaker 7 (02:18:05):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (02:18:06):
He won't be a hot shot coordinator like Ben Johnson,
because Ben Johnson will want control. And you can see
Ben Jon Saturday. He already said I love beating Matt
Lafleur twice a year. Yeah, I mean, Ben Johnson's going
all in. It won't be Dion familiar. All of it
seems good. They'll toy with it for the pub and
all that, but Dion will get a you know, he'll

(02:18:26):
get him a pay raise and he'll stay there.

Speaker 1 (02:18:28):
It'll be.

Speaker 5 (02:18:31):
It'll be somebody who is not getting offered a head
coaching job by anybody else. Good football guy. Brian Schottenheimer's dad,
I love Marty. Here's Ben Brian Schottenheimer. It'll be somebody
like that Kellen Moore. It'll be a guy who Jerry
can control that he knows the guy wants a head
coaching job. But it won't be anybody that is a
Bill Belichick powerful type guy or.

Speaker 1 (02:18:53):
An up and comer with power.

Speaker 5 (02:18:54):
It'll be a tweener that's either done it before and
he isn't getting an other head coaching opportunities. But it's
a solid assistant, but isn't going to require it, doesn't
want any say or power. Wants to Jerry, you can
have it all it has. It'll be a non descript
guy that doesn't need to be the face of the
franchise or the voice. Brian Schottenheimer perfect in house. It's

(02:19:21):
he already knows how Jerry goes about the business. It's
not like he's an outsider.

Speaker 8 (02:19:25):
Now.

Speaker 5 (02:19:25):
He was there with McCarthy just gonna boom, go right
in and he did and the master of doing this
and Jerry Jones will continue the same thing. He damn
well and Brian Schottenheimer is a good football man. He
dan well knows there's other guys.

Speaker 4 (02:19:41):
He could have gotten the fact that they wasted that
week and didn't even take the time to interview Ben
Johnson or Aaron Glenn, just the two top candidates or
other top candidates.

Speaker 1 (02:19:52):
He wasn't gonna do that. But why why, I'm just
as as an organization, they don't do it. They haven't
done I know that.

Speaker 5 (02:19:59):
Whatever there, It was just it's agreed you this son
and Jerry when we say, oh, it's the opportunity to
interview coaches.

Speaker 1 (02:20:06):
That wasn't a deadline for him.

Speaker 5 (02:20:08):
No, he already had in mind it's going to be
one of these two or three guys, and not a
one of them is going to be a guy that
anybody else was going to hire this offseason. The Dion
stuff was the Dion stuff was pomping circumstance. Because Deon
comes in, he automatically knows the second Deon signed Sanders
walks in the building that he's automatically the voice and
face of the organization. That's not And Jerry and Dion

(02:20:30):
are tight hugging their buddies cowboys. I'm sure Michael Irvtt,
everybody want.

Speaker 8 (02:20:33):
To sell it.

Speaker 1 (02:20:34):
Deon's gonna get more from Colorado. You knew exactly what
it was going to be.

Speaker 5 (02:20:39):
It was going to be a good, solid football assistant
that Jerry still runs the show, and there is no doubt.

Speaker 1 (02:20:47):
He didn't need a timeframe.

Speaker 5 (02:20:48):
Dude, he wasn't in a hurry to hire Brian shot
I remember, nobody else was going to interview him the
head coaching job for anywhere, not that Brian can't coach.
Brian will be in the league since listen, he's a
good football guy. But if you were looking for this
sexy higher or the up and comer, or the KG
veteran with three Super Bowl rings, that Mike Rabel who's
been on winning Super Bowl teams that everybody kind of coveted,

(02:21:09):
you weren't getting that guy. You were never getting that guy.

Speaker 1 (02:21:14):
All the pompit circumstance was just that too. Jerry was
able to steal.

Speaker 5 (02:21:18):
Attention during coaching hires and playoffs when his team got
their ass kicked and they weren't interested in a big
time coach.

Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
That's who he is.

Speaker 4 (02:21:26):
This is the same organization that could have gotten Derrick Henry.
Darick Henry basically said he wanted to play for the
Dallas Cowboys, want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. Instead,
they don't bring him in, don't talk to him, and
they sign Ezekiel Elliott.

Speaker 1 (02:21:42):
That was their answer to that.

Speaker 5 (02:21:44):
Football personnel decisions are not Jerry's strength. No, no, they
are not marketing and making money. Yes, yes, but let
me put it to you this way. He's a better
actor yeah than he is a GM.

Speaker 1 (02:21:58):
Yeah. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5 (02:22:00):
Give me more of that Landman with Jerry Jones. I mean,
I thought it was awesome, Yeah, but don't give me
more of the GM stuff I told on Dan Patrick
Show yesterday.

Speaker 1 (02:22:08):
I've said it here.

Speaker 5 (02:22:09):
Jerry Jones the owner would have fired Jerry Jones the
general manager fifteen times in the last twenty years. Fifteen times, unless,
of course, Jerry Jones the owner could control Jerry Jones
the GM.

Speaker 1 (02:22:20):
Which he can because he's both. And I got news
for you.

Speaker 5 (02:22:24):
If Jerry Jones go to Brian Schottenheimer the morning of
a game and tells him who he wants to play
and says, I want you to throw the ball forty
times today.

Speaker 1 (02:22:30):
If you don't, he will throw forty times.

Speaker 5 (02:22:33):
And I'm not disrespecting Brian Schottenheimer at all, but Jerry
hired a guy. He knows that when he walks in
the building, he still has to answer to me out loud,
so everybody knows. And he's going to tell you in
his press conference that Brian Schottenheimer great candidate gets it
great football jeans, and he does. I were you ready

(02:22:55):
for him to be the head coach and he made listen,
and he may go in there and win three divisions
and they may go to the super Bowl. I'm not
saying he can't be successful. I'm just telling you I
could have.

Speaker 1 (02:23:06):
I would have.

Speaker 5 (02:23:06):
Well I did, I should. If there was a futures bet,
we should have bet it and we would have made money. Yeah,
I could tell you it was going to be a
non descript, more than likely nondescript white boy coaching your
football team. That's coached wide receivers or quarterbacks or running backs,
who's had good jobs in the league.

Speaker 1 (02:23:21):
But isn't a.

Speaker 5 (02:23:23):
Oh my gosh. Right, and I say white boy joking
around like we say slot receivers. And I don't think
it has anything to do with it at all. Jerry
just has him on staff, right, It's it's it's Jason Garrett,
it's Dave Campo, it's and if you ever notice a
lot of them have cowboy connections from the past, like
shot in him on because he's here. When's the last
time Jerry went out and got a needle mover outside

(02:23:44):
the building that was coveted by fifty five other teams.

Speaker 1 (02:23:49):
Jimmy Johnson, say, Jimmy Johnson, right.

Speaker 5 (02:23:57):
When I say this, dude, you know I love Jerry
I do. I don't love Jerry the GM and I
don't love Jerry the team build that building a team.
But you want marketing and you want some laughs. You
want a good guy who knows business and is as
successful as hell, and quite frankly, he's a hell of
a lot of fun. I'm all about Jerry Jones, but
I can compartmentalize Jerry Jones the football personnel guy needs
to find somebody else to run that or the Cowboys.

(02:24:18):
We'll have the same conversation three years from now. And
if you're Brian Schottenheimer, do you really think you have
autonomy to.

Speaker 1 (02:24:24):
Do what you want? No, you know you don't.

Speaker 5 (02:24:26):
That's on this side from a good X's and this
guy and got a good football background in the family
because that Marty was great. Marty was a grinder and
everybody else was practicing two hours. Marty would practice two
hours and forty five or three. The guys who play
with mart Marty put you to work. Brian Schottenheimer's a
smart football guy. We'll gonna find out just what kind
of leader he is and if you can get the
Cowboys to another level that somebody else hasn't been able

(02:24:48):
to do since the nineties, and that's play him in.

Speaker 1 (02:24:51):
February, right, get to February. Could have told this was January.

Speaker 5 (02:24:55):
This was the easiest off season, no brainer. Who's Jerry
going to hire? Not the name, but the type of
guy you were gonna hire. Yeah, temperament easy.

Speaker 1 (02:25:07):
Yeah, it was so cool.

Speaker 3 (02:25:08):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:25:09):
Good for Brian Scheinenheimer if he gets the game.

Speaker 4 (02:25:11):
If he gets it, Yeah, number one eighty is number
to join. It's gonna break right here on seven ninety
were the Shawn Salisbury Show continued, John, what's happening?

Speaker 8 (02:25:25):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (02:25:25):
Man's what you doing?

Speaker 19 (02:25:26):
Pardner?

Speaker 1 (02:25:27):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (02:25:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 19 (02:25:29):
Nothing man, not a thing with chicken wing on a string.
Hey man, look this all going along since y'all came on.
You know we've been hearing about this rumor, right whoever
said it? And you know the guy that called earlier
asking the questions or who started it and what they
get out of and all that was. That was good

(02:25:49):
take there, but a lot of people aren't remembering.

Speaker 1 (02:25:54):
One thing.

Speaker 19 (02:25:57):
For the time is undefeated and our tuv ain't no
young chicken.

Speaker 5 (02:26:03):
And now Tuve has had a history of amstring issues, And.

Speaker 19 (02:26:12):
Why are you gonna mess with this man? When did
the organize? When did the Astros become the ass clowns
of MLD of some stupid rook. I mean, I just
don't get it, man, it ain't gonna work. You tell
Bregman mad you had your shot, set your ass on
somewhere else.

Speaker 9 (02:26:32):
We're done with you.

Speaker 2 (02:26:34):
I mean, you're You're not.

Speaker 3 (02:26:35):
That's not gonna make your outfeel better.

Speaker 19 (02:26:37):
With the hoo they out there, It's not he's thirty five,
he's five foot nothing. He don't have an arm, he
don't have the speed he used to have. It's just
I think it's a ridiculous rumor that we're talking about.

(02:26:57):
You know, they they dug theirselves in the whole and
it is what it is. But you know, and as
far as what Sean, y'all were just talking about what
the cow babies up there, to the cow baby crowd babies,
you know, Jerry was you know, I've said it all along.

Speaker 6 (02:27:17):
Jerry's and marketing genius.

Speaker 19 (02:27:19):
He had people talking about them when all the coaching
hires were done, because who did they throw out there?

Speaker 6 (02:27:24):
Dion?

Speaker 5 (02:27:25):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:27:25):
He wasn't eon people. Come on, did you honestly true?

Speaker 16 (02:27:30):
Think grown?

Speaker 19 (02:27:31):
Ask men are gonna listen to what Dion's got to
say versus college kids. No, he ain't gonna happen. Man,
I don't care how many rings he had in Hall
of Fame and all that. They're grown, ask me, and
they're not gonna let them be talk to you like
that from Dion and all this.

Speaker 7 (02:27:47):
It was a marketing genius and it did.

Speaker 9 (02:27:50):
It went well.

Speaker 19 (02:27:51):
But if Schottenheimer, he may get the job eventually, but
he's got to follow the Rooney rule first.

Speaker 4 (02:27:58):
Hey, John, let me ask you a question on the
Jose al Tuov thing. Sure you mentioned his hamstring issues.
He had a hamstring issue that kept him out for
ten days back in twenty twenty two, and then he
had another hamstring issue back in twenty nineteen that kept
him out a little over a month. You have Jordan
Alvarez paying playing fifty plus games in left field with
knees of like a sixty five year old, and he

(02:28:20):
does just fine. You mean to do you really think
that Josel Tuove cannot play left field?

Speaker 7 (02:28:26):
No?

Speaker 19 (02:28:27):
Really, No, well, let me look wait wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,
let me retrack my Okay, he can't, I'm not he can't.
It's not a good idea. He does not have the
cannon or the better arm that Jordan has.

Speaker 1 (02:28:42):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 19 (02:28:42):
Jordon can cover a lot more damn ground than what
a five footer can, and he and Jordan's younger and factor.

Speaker 1 (02:28:48):
I understand Jordan's knees.

Speaker 19 (02:28:50):
I've been saying.

Speaker 16 (02:28:51):
It all along too.

Speaker 19 (02:28:52):
He needs to go to DH and be a big
poppy for the Ashtros. Ose, though, has got the one
thing that is against him father time.

Speaker 8 (02:29:02):
He is not a spring chicken.

Speaker 19 (02:29:03):
Look, we don't know how many more years we have
with Jose. You really don't. You have to, You have to,
You really need to think about we don't. He's thirty five.

Speaker 4 (02:29:13):
So then who play? If they bring back Alex Bregman
who plays left field? Who plays left field.

Speaker 19 (02:29:17):
Be honest with they may just they they put this
out there, they whom I'm with you, Brian, the outfield sucks.

Speaker 2 (02:29:27):
I'm with you, doog, I.

Speaker 19 (02:29:28):
Am one hundred percent with you. The Astros caused this problem.
They caused this problem. Jim Crane has caused his problem.
Because he does not want to pay the luxury tax.
We all knew going into this year and are saying
last year, going into this year and the next year,
with with uh Tucker's contracts, with Bregnan's contracts, this what's

(02:29:50):
going to be a problem.

Speaker 1 (02:29:53):
And guess what here we are now?

Speaker 8 (02:29:55):
Well they fix it.

Speaker 7 (02:29:56):
Who knows.

Speaker 19 (02:29:57):
We still got some time. But I'm sorry, dog, I
just I think you you shortened his career putting him
in the outfield. Look, man, it didn't work that good
with hired the guy earlier with the Bigio thing. It
didn't work that good with Bigio out there. It wasn't

(02:30:18):
that good out there neither, brother.

Speaker 7 (02:30:20):
I just I don't know.

Speaker 11 (02:30:21):
Man's they put themselves in this boat.

Speaker 1 (02:30:24):
They really did.

Speaker 6 (02:30:25):
And one last time because I'm about to lose service heading.

Speaker 19 (02:30:28):
Down the sergeant. Yeah, Texas, they need to get rid
of that damn field goal kicker. I don't give a
damn how many fifty plus yarders he kicks. He can't
hit an extra point. Everybody and their mother kicks fifty
eight yarders.

Speaker 1 (02:30:45):
Now, get rid of that idiot. Appreciate it, John, Hey,
enjoy your weekend down there. Man, Be safe.

Speaker 4 (02:30:53):
On the Craig Bizio thing. He moved to the outfield
when he was thirty seven years old. He played center
field left field, play there for one two play there
for five seasons, had a nine to ninety seven field
and percentage nine ninety seven ninety sixty six nine thirty.
He did okay out in center field. And this whole

(02:31:15):
thing about Jose al Tuve being rumored to move to
left field coming from these national writers like John Hayman
and like Bob Nightingale. Reportedly also with these is that
Jose al Tuve himself is the one that said that
if it meant bringing Alex Bregman back, he would move
to left field. We are talking about left field, Sean.

(02:31:36):
We are not talking about creating rockets. We are talking
about left field. Playing major League Baseball is probably one
of the hardest things to do, but playing the outfield
is not would not be hard for Jose al Tuove.
I don't I mean I get with John saying father time.
We've talked about father time in every sport. We're talking

(02:31:57):
about playing left field. If Jordan Alvahez could play left
field field ffty plus games soaking josel.

Speaker 5 (02:32:01):
TV, I'm not I'm not saying left field eazy, no,
no positions by any stretch to the imagination. Let's just
put it in baseball terms a lot of times if
you want to. I'm not saying hosel TV. But if
you were going to hide a weak glove and a
week arm, that's where you put it.

Speaker 1 (02:32:15):
You put in left field. Yes, that that is exactly
where you put it if the bats alive.

Speaker 5 (02:32:20):
And I'm not saying and Jose may be good out there,
I'm not I'm just saying, it doesn't matter to go
to any team win in doubt if they lose a
step and they are willing to be versa and their
bats still alive, and well, you move them to left
field unless you're a quarterback, unless you're a catcher, and
you move them to first base. But the throwaway position
for a versatile player that they don't look at it

(02:32:44):
like that. But I'm just using it, and that's so
it's so it's a little hyperbolic. But see you get
the clear picture. Yeah, left field is where you people go.
If you're not mean you want a gold glovery. You'd
love to have Carl Ustrempsky out there. Back back in
the day, or anybody like the Bonds when he Yeah,
but guess what Manny Ramirez for his bat and many

(02:33:05):
but he probably left, that's right, So you didn't know
if he was gonna catch it. I mean when Koseko
was out, I mean late in his grip ball. That's
where you put the player. You need the bat, can't
it's willing to go somewhere else because somebody else is
coming in to play that other position?

Speaker 1 (02:33:21):
Is that that's where you go to.

Speaker 5 (02:33:23):
I don't want to say hide, but if you're gonna
put anywhere those other eight pers, that's where you put them.
I do believe he can survive it and be fine
at this point, especial, but be fine and all the
dolls you're asking him to is be efficient.

Speaker 1 (02:33:38):
And survive it. Yeah, you know, what what did we
see last year?

Speaker 5 (02:33:41):
If you're asking him to do it at all? Right,
that's what you're asking. What did we see last year
with jord On Alpharez.

Speaker 4 (02:33:46):
He played majority of the outfield here at Minime Park
because of the way that the field is set up
with the short pores, big wall, and then when they
went on the road, he DHD and you moved guys around.
I would assume it's going to be the same thing.
Jord On Alvarez coming up this season, will play in
left field, how much we don't know he's gonna play
out there? And if Bregnan's playing third base, it'll be Altuve,

(02:34:06):
your don Chaz Dubond who knows who.

Speaker 5 (02:34:10):
Else will also play second game play left field, right
like it's gonna be Praide to play third base on
the days that Bregman has to d h R is
playing someone us If Bregman comes back, Uh, Raiders hire
Pete Carroll.

Speaker 1 (02:34:22):
As their head coach? Did they really? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:34:26):
Man, Raiders. I knew that they were going through the process.
I had read about a week and a half ago
that Pete was in play, and then in talking to
a friend of mine, Pete was in play. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:34:41):
And remember when.

Speaker 5 (02:34:41):
Pete Carroll left Seattle, people thought, I'll preach, retire and
want to go. Pete didn't want lead. P didn't want
to retire. Pete want to coach football. The Seattle thing
had run dry. They were quite frankly, they were ready
to move on from him, and he was ready to
move on from them. And now he's landed as the
Raiders job and Peter Carroll was not done coaching, and
Pete Carroll, while in his seventies, Pig Carroll still has

(02:35:04):
the energy of about a thirty year old.

Speaker 7 (02:35:06):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (02:35:07):
So there you go, Harbor and Carroll will be back
at it again like Stanford, Stanford, usc uh, Seattle, San Francisco. Yeah, Raiders,
Chargers love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (02:35:19):
That's a regardless. Ay, that's an upgrade to the AFC West. Yeah,
love it man, Yeah, good, take down those bastard chiefs.
There you go, So the Raiders, the Raiders are serious
about their head coaching. You'd like to hire as a Raiders?

Speaker 5 (02:35:33):
I do, and I would imagine that Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (02:35:35):
Had something to do with no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (02:35:38):
Let's get to the final segment seven one, three, five seven,
and he got two final calls for this Friday edition
of the Sewn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 2 (02:35:48):
This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (02:35:51):
Two calls left here on a Friday. Oh yeah, give
it to me. Snookes stop it, yeah, putting stop, give
it to me. Robert Woods. Hey, how's it going?

Speaker 8 (02:36:02):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:36:03):
Hey man, we're chilling dog. What's happening.

Speaker 20 (02:36:06):
I'm just going from cypressman, and I'm just calling can't
you recorded a game I recorded last year?

Speaker 1 (02:36:13):
On the games?

Speaker 20 (02:36:14):
I couldn't do one game recorded this year because it
was horrible.

Speaker 1 (02:36:17):
Man, I don't know why they put in Mason.

Speaker 3 (02:36:20):
That's my question.

Speaker 20 (02:36:21):
On the right guard, left guard is another question mark.
And it's like what Titus Howard on the right tackle?
I mean, what's going on? I mean, what's so hard
am I making the decision on putting the right offensive line?
Recruiting or free agent? So I just want to know
what what do you guys think of what's possibly my

(02:36:43):
gonna happen? Because and then Patterson being the center, I mean,
is he good enough to be a starting center or
you bring in a free agent or as somebody.

Speaker 1 (02:36:52):
That's my question.

Speaker 20 (02:36:53):
What's the I guess it looks like the only position
is going to probably keep his tunnel.

Speaker 5 (02:36:59):
Yeah, well he's got he got some issues himself, Okay,
with pre snap penalties and the way he's been ranked
the last few years and evaluating pro football focus. He's gone,
He's he's gone south, uh with from where he was,
He's got to get better. I can just tell you
this real quick. We'll get to Tony so we can
finish Robert. There will be changes on that offensive line.

(02:37:21):
What you see today you will not see starting every
day next year in the fall. They are going to
have to make changes and put people in the right spot.
If they're not doing their gig, you got to move
on from him. I don't care where they were drafted.

Speaker 1 (02:37:33):
Talk to Tony. Tony finished up the show.

Speaker 17 (02:37:35):
What's happening, hey, guys, al Tube playing left field not
going to happen. Man, he needs to DH about twenty
twenty twenty five times a year this year to play
duball in at second when he's DHN, play al Alvarez
and left field. No matter what the pitching matchup is,
our pitching is going to be.

Speaker 1 (02:37:55):
Our strength this year.

Speaker 8 (02:37:56):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (02:37:56):
We we're gonna be okay.

Speaker 17 (02:37:58):
Our pitching is gonna be once again, and you're gonna be.

Speaker 1 (02:38:01):
Surprised with our pitching this year. We're gonna be a
lot better than you think.

Speaker 5 (02:38:06):
I think they're good. I already think it's the strength
of the team, so I ain't gonna be surprised.

Speaker 17 (02:38:10):
It is the strength of the team, and it's going
to be and you'll see it's if we can just
if we we just got to hit enough, man, because
we're gonna pitch yea, the Texans listen to that offensive line.
I watched Damiko Ryan's face on the sidelines and I
know what he's thinking. Man, He's like, I'm not this
is not happening again. That we're not gonna Sewan. You

(02:38:30):
played professional football, you know what I'm talking about. They're
not gonna get whipped at.

Speaker 1 (02:38:35):
They're not.

Speaker 9 (02:38:35):
This is gonna end.

Speaker 1 (02:38:38):
Or he's gonna be out of a job.

Speaker 6 (02:38:40):
You know.

Speaker 17 (02:38:42):
Got to get the offensive line fixed for sure. And
once again, guys that that invitation is open tonight. I'll
be down at out Riggers.

Speaker 5 (02:38:48):
Tonightday any Friday night.

Speaker 1 (02:38:51):
You guys are you guys are welcome. Appreciate it, Tony
Joy We man.

Speaker 5 (02:38:56):
Oh, that offensive line is gonna change and they're gonna
have to hit probably a little bit better than average.
But their pitching staff, Yeah, was the strength last year.
It is the strength going into this year.

Speaker 4 (02:39:06):
And again with the jose Al two van left field thing.
That would only be a potential if Bregman came back
and not. He's your second base, right and.

Speaker 5 (02:39:14):
I think he can be serviceable enough if that is
the decision. That's art all this is all hinges on yea,
if Bregman's back or if he's gone. The bottom line
is Bregman's market is not as valuable as he or
as ripe as he thought it was. Yep, and and
then not against him. But I think a lot of
people thought it was going to be more ripe and
it hasn't been.

Speaker 1 (02:39:30):
It has not been plain and simple. Yeah, who you
got this weekend?

Speaker 4 (02:39:33):
Oh damn, I forgot to make our picks. Give me
I want. I want the Buffalo Bills and the and
the Commanders.

Speaker 5 (02:39:39):
You're more than likely going to see Philadelphia Eagles play
the Kansas City Chiefs probably, but I'm.

Speaker 1 (02:39:44):
I won't Washington and Buffalo. Yeah, that's my picks. That's
the super Bowl that America deserves. Damn it.

Speaker 4 (02:39:49):
Hey, Astros fan Fest tomorrow, Sean and I are going
to be out there broadcasting from two to four Section
one oh six, right out there on the Concourse level
by the Astros team store. We'll be broadcasting all all
day there eleven to four. Ross Wex and Dan Matthews
will have the coverage from eleven to two, and then
we're gonna take over from two to four. So Shaan,
I'll see you tomorrow you really have a good weekend man.

(02:40:10):
Thank you guys very much, and we'll be back Monday
morning at six am. The Matt Thomas Show with Ross
