Speaker 1 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
To usc Trout's longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Dan matthewscu.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:23):
Exavier Hutchinson puts the Texans on the board.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Stroud steps up.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
He's gonna run first down.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Shroud's got more.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Shroud's still going down the sideline that Stroud.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Looking for the pie line.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
Texans believe they got a touchdown. What he marks with
a key block and they're gonna mark him down just
shy of the goal line.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Eight straight completions for c. J. Stroud. They're knocking on
the door once again.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Shroud it zone touchdown Texans man. It is a run
to Nick Chow jump could go all the way in
times touchdown. Texans marks in the backfield, shotgut fake the pitch,
soft toss.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
It's handled.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
No is in for the touchdown too. With their third
touchdown of the day, that is four for CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
The officials get in between some Texans and Ravens along
the sideline.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
Is that not a sound for sore ears out there?
And with that we say away we go in good
morning here. It is a Sean Salisbury show on a
Monday Sports Talk seven ninety as. The Texans go to Baltimore,
a place they never won, and they take it forty
four to ten over the Ravens. Love to see it.
(01:49):
Love to see everything that the Texans were able to
do in that game. I mean, you wanted offense. You
just heard Iron Eagle tell you right there. You got offense.
You want a defense, Like you're saying to yourself, Hey,
this team hasn't really caused too many turnovers this year.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh you got that too.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
And then you wanted to stop Derrick Henry from being
able to beat you in this game.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, you did that too.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
At fifteen carries thirty three yards as long as carrying
the game was seven yards. So I mean, just every
single way and every single fashion imaginable. You just absolutely
took it to Baltimore yesterday. But I know that some
people out there are going to say, we'll look at
all the Baltimore injuries. Well, I mean, let's just go
(02:31):
back a few weeks ago with the Astros. You think
that the Mariners looked at him and said, oh, there's
no yord On Alvarez. So this is kind of cheapened.
I mean, Altwove is not really having a great year. No,
they didn't care. They came in here and they handled business.
And that's exactly what the Texans were able to do yesterday.
So you go into the bye week before next week
you take on Seattle in Seattle, and I mean, you know,
(02:53):
you just completely think about the way that the season.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Looks now and I mean sean know two and.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Three, you go into that and now probably I would
say about five and what a quarter of quarters this
offense has looked capable.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, and well people are going to say injuries an
injuries did play a factor, Make no mistake, they played
a factor. They're not beating the Baltimore Ravens like that
if they're healthy. But nobody feels sorry for him. Nobody cares. Correct,
it was impressive. So you look at the good things.
I mean, they didn't do anything poorly yesterday. I thought
the offensive line looked better than they've looked in a
year and a half. They still there's still some things
(03:37):
they got to get sorted out on. You know, who
was it when they when they there was a blitz
or just a simple pass rush and they both went
after the two guys came and the back I think
it was Marks. Maybe it might have been Chubb went
after the wrong, wrong alignment and they got to the quarterback.
But Stroud's feet moved a great job on the right. Unmanned,
(04:00):
covered people's backs are turning, you go and keep and
chase down their heels. I was just I was impressed
with most importantly aggressiveness early throwing the football and play
calling and a great mix, a great mix of play
calling in the run game the pass game. And what
you see with what he marks is a continued expansion
of those two he and Chubb of having your inside
(04:22):
outside guy who can expand the offense. They got a
lot of people involved and it looked like a football team.
I already know their defense is really good, but offensive
they look like a football team. Best rhythm they've had,
and when you can do that, injuries are not Put
it this way, If the Ravens were healthy and the
Texans operated like that, had that aggressiveness they would have,
(04:43):
that would have been a hell of a football game.
But they just mantled them early. Another way you go
about it, You go into their buildings, shut them up.
The crowd had nothing to do it. And they're they're
not good. They are that's as bad as a raven's
t hell. When you watch right now watching the Jets,
I know Lamar's not there offensively, but just the overall
you watch teams like the Jets Saints played good yesterday,
(05:04):
but the teams that just aren't good. If you didn't
know Baltimore's history, you would throw them in that category
with the way they've played this year, especially defense.
Speaker 7 (05:14):
But there's no physicality for that team.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
So but hey, listen, they show up on the schedule,
the injuries, it don't matter. There's attrition, there's all that,
but you still got to play. You line up with
you know, eleven guys on both sides. So I was impressive.
It was impressive for a lot of different reasons, and
the fact that you needed it because the team, you know,
the Colts are playing really good football. It's a it's
(05:36):
a pretty damn it is more competitive division than we thought.
Jacksonville's played good football too, So a big win and
people will make excuse, wow, they got to do this better.
You only play what's on the schedule, and the only
play you only play the eleven that are lined up opposite.
And they kicked their ass yesterday physically and it's a
long time running when I've said that offense is more
(05:57):
physical than somebody's defense, and they were.
Speaker 7 (06:02):
They absolutely were.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
You see physicality where you rear its head through Saturday
and Sunday. College football in the NFL, good quarterback play,
tackle on defense, and control the line of scrimmage win
a lot of games. And the Texans did that yesterday.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Well Texans did, But you know you mentioned college because
the Longhorns did not. That was anything but what you
wanted to see a lot of archbac mauled the Longhorns got. Well,
they are overrated. You can say what you want. I
love them. I say it's about my Trojans all the time.
They're just They'll make a couple of plays and missed
a coup plays. They got dominated them both sides of
(06:40):
the line scrimmage, which is not them. And their offensive
line's putrid and couldn't tackle no, and they couldn't tackle them,
but they got pushed around at the line of scrimmage.
Lagway played really good football. He made some great decisions.
And I know they hate to Clemson.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Still, they wont overrated my Trojans because they can't prove
their physical even though they didn't play overrated running re
at Penn State. Pennce. This is typical Penn State. This
is typical Penn State. James Franklin's a good coach, he's
not a great one because they don't know how to
win big games. They went on the road against UCLA
team that half that Rose Bull will not be filled up,
(07:14):
and they got boat raced at the Rose bulll against
a team who hasn't won that's looked like an FCS
school and a bad one, and they went in there
and they got their ass handed to them. Don't talk
to me about them being ooh, Penn State. You know,
I can roll through it, man, you can roll through it.
Speaker 7 (07:30):
Miami's really good.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
But I'm actually a little shocked by the way the
Longhorns of Plan I am and I going into that.
We have a little show where we're doing some little
betting and doing all that stuff, you know, where you're
picking games, and you knew Florida was going to hang around.
(07:53):
I just didn't know Florida was gonna The game was
not as close as the score. It wasn't. Arch made
some decent plays when it mattered, but they just don't
make enough of them. I can't believe how Florida man
handled them physically.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
I said with Texas on Saturday, get ready to learn
Texas Bowl, buddy, because I mean that's where they're going.
They're they're going to lose at least two more games
this year. You think that team goes to Athens and
beats Georgia, Hell this week against Oklahoma, I'll jo Matier
no jometyr do you think they beat Do you think
they beat Oklahoma?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Not playing like that, I can tell you Vanderbilts a possibility. Yeah,
Vanderbilt hung around for a minute, didn't they I'm going
to tell you, and had a chance. You start to
look around the teams that in the sec that losses
are still in front. You're LSU Tigers. You're going to
have a hell of a time the way they're playing,
They're going to have a hell of a time not
(08:46):
losing two more games their damn self. I mean, it
was it's it was a hard watch. I mean the
Texans played well, but U t again. It's just it's
just been and this is listen. I root for I
love Sark and I I want arch Manning to be
that guy. But right now there is just too much
pressure at the quarterback, too many mist easy throws, and
(09:08):
then when they make a big play, they don't sustain
constant drive after drive after drive against good teams. Now
you can do it against Louisiana Monroe or whoever you play,
I get it, but you don't play those guys in
the SEC. And there are some really really highly overrated
teams in college football. So the team we just saw
over in third Ward this weekend, Texas Tech, one of
(09:30):
the best teams in the country.
Speaker 7 (09:32):
Maybe underrated at the Olemmath rank.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Team.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
If they went to Austin and they play to they
would have won Saturday. But I'm saying, like I'm not
very good in terms of, like you know, the book
making and everything like that.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
But Texas Tech is a road favorite in that game. Yeah,
maybe reputation wouldn't allow the gamblers in Vegas, the line
setters to put it that way. But if those two
played on a neutral site right now, Texas Texas a
Texas Tech is a better football team. Say execute better
quarterback is better. They're they're they're I know, Longhard cringing.
(10:05):
This isn't listen. I root for the Longharm because even
as a guy who's got a master's degree from A
and M. And they're they're they're trying to do some
good things. I only reason I say that when you
say not that I got a master's degree.
Speaker 7 (10:16):
Pat me on the back. But that's where I got
it from.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
So you think, well, you got to be an Aggie
hater or a if you're not, like, if you're not
an Austin guy, you gotta be an Aggie hater, and
vice versa. I'm not. I'm I'm actually my kids live
there and I'm in Austin. I'm rooting for Sark to
do this thing. I just can't believe how much different
they look. It doesn't it go to show you how
when when you don't have an offensive take a look
(10:39):
at that offensive line, the penalties they're they're just not
good up front. Yes, Texas Tech is a better football team. No,
when's the last time you said that? I mean better
football team? Matter of fact, I let me take it
another step. Are you sure Texas Tech isn't the best
football team in Texas? Oh? I I'd go ahead.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
And the funny thing is, and I even thought about
this leaving TDECU on Saturday, they didn't even play that well,
they really didn't and drop passes penalties.
Speaker 7 (11:09):
What would the score have been if they would have.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
I probably forty four to eleven. Maybe you don't even
give up that touchdown. And Houston's a pretty good team.
They just mantled.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I'm just telling you that's that they spend anil money,
they make a commitment to recruiting, they get the right
coach in place, get the right quarterback in place. There
right now, I'll tell you nobody playing better in this
state than that football team that's problems that Yeah, that's
that's that's the accurate statement, right So, I don't know
if they you know, they're maximizing their ability, and unfortunately
(11:42):
the Longhorns did not. There's a lot of layers in
football to talk about throughout this week because it was
I guess, you know, Ohio State Miami the two best
teams in the country in my mouth, from what I've
seen consistently, they are clearly the two best. I'm going
to tell you what. Orgon Ate far behind so but
(12:03):
some struggles. But back to the Texans. They did their
thing this weekend. They were supposed to go in and win,
and they did, and they did it in big fashion,
quick start, dominant the line of scrimmage, and this was
Nick Cayley's best game.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
Definitely looked as much as Uh, you know, it's hard
to argue with putting up forty four points in the
effort and that's.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
When hit the ground much either with the quarterback that
it looked like j Stroud.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
I was gonna say it was nice to see that
out of him. Nice to see them be able to
put together a strong run efforts. And uh, as I
mentioned too defensively, I mean, it's safe to say that
Jalen Petries found himself a nice little home at the
star position because it seemed like it was almost every
single play you saw.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Number five mentioned he is a well we've known all along.
Like I said, that young secondary is really frigging good man. Uh,
you don't ever have to you don't have to worry
about this defense. They're gonna be hanging around. They're gonna
they put it this way. All the we were complaining
about well, mistackles and stuff going into this week. They
made sure they misstackle because they knew who the guy
running the football was. They they rendered him. They had
(13:05):
no chance.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
Like I said, fifteen carries thirty three yards out of
Derrick Henry yesterday. So not a good day for Baltimore,
a great day for the Texans. And the bye week
is here. But does that necessarily mean that the work
is done. We'll talk about it here as we're just
getting going on a Monday edition of the Sewan Salisbury Show.
You can weigh in two someone three two and two
(13:28):
five seven ninety against someone three two one two five
seven ninety. It is Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven
ninety noy.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
DNM Leasing just delivered a truck to a customer who
had listened to DNM for more than twenty five years.
Think about that, and he'd been hearing these commercials forever,
right for decades, he believed leasing was just renting a car.
I put in air quotes, something you only did if
you couldn't afford to buy. And who hasn't been there,
right guys. But DNM Leasing's here to change that. That
changed when the dealership offered him an eighty four month loan.
(13:57):
He knew he'd trade the truck in in a few
years and he he'd end up well upside down again
owing more than it was worth. Well, that's when he
remembered the DNM commercials ever seen a Texas title. UH,
and when you trade in a long finance contract, the
only thing you own is negative equity. Those quotes, so
he called DNM leasing showed him is that leasing isn't
(14:18):
about what you can afford. It's simply the smarter way
most people pay for their vehicles. Smarter. See what smarter
does for you, And DNM leasing is smart. Leasing isn't renting.
Let me say it again. Leasing isn't renting. It's smarter.
Who doesn't want smarter? Harder doesn't always work. Smarter does,
and especially when it puts money in your pocket and
(14:39):
makes it easier for you at the beginning, the middle,
and the end. Dial seven one three two nine zero
one thousand, seven one three two nine zero one thousand,
or visit us at DNM It's DNM Leasing, dmauto leasing
dot Com, dmauto leasing dot Com. They continue to win
awards and there's a reason why DNM It's dmauto leasing
(15:01):
dot Com.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Let the celebration start.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
War Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
They are, They're one of the more improved teams I've
seen all year long. And and UH Texas A and
M took care of their business. I like it.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
Yeah, the Aggies, I mean still a little bit of
struggles offensively, yea, But I mean defensively, that's where their
bread is buttered.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
But if that's where the team's at, if you can
win and you're not playing your best, you're hoping in
time the offense will click. But in truth, it's been
an A and M problem for a while, the consistent
dominant offense that you're looking for. But listen, if I
got a defense always travels. When you're a good defense,
you'll travel, and then you hope you continue to improve offensively.
But even then, anybody that overlooks that one that was
(15:48):
an important win over a team that will go into
somebody's building and upset them.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
This year before Mississippi State, before we get back into
the Texans. I don't know if I've told you that,
even though you know he coached at U c l A,
that I'm a massive Rick new Heidel guy, and I
think you are too. I mean, how can you past
He's He's one of the nicest people on the planet.
I mean, he seriously is, and even larger fan of
(16:14):
you know, one time I was listening to Jimmy Buffett Radio.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah. It See.
Speaker 6 (16:18):
I think when Brian was here, we would cover this
all the time that I'm very much a basic white guy.
And I just proved it right there with listening to
Jimmy Buffett Radio. But he was a guest DJ once on.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
There, and I said that tracks. But how about his
reaction to his son, Jerry getting his first one? And
then you hear Jerry in the postgame press conference and
I'm like, oh my god, he sounds and looks just
like his dad. So when I was when I was
my guy, Nolan Mazzoni was the offensive coordinator for UH
for More at U c l A. They invited me
(16:51):
to go out there and work with and speak to
their quarterbacks for a couple of days at training camp,
and new heisl was like you, Jerry was like a
He was like a third or fourth walk on type quarterback,
right just like his dad was. And you could tell
in the meeting he's a smart guy and he looks
just like his pop too, and so he talked just
(17:12):
like him, like he kind of had the same cadence
and everything, no doubt about it. And you get this
feeling when you're watching them play listen to meetings that
he may not ever get a chance to be a
great player because they had the UCLA at the time
was pretty good and Moro was good coach. And but
as it went on, and then all of a sudden,
you see, Okay, he gets a chance and he's not
going to get you beat mentally very often.
Speaker 8 (17:33):
Right.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Rick was the same way. Rick was cagey and really
really crafty. He really was like mad He's like eighty
mile an hour fastball, but it was always accurate, sure,
and he was really really good. And so when he
worked with him, I'm thinking his kids still somehow, some way,
he looked like the guy that when his college career
was over that he was immediately going to be a
(17:54):
grad assistant. And well he was, and now look at
what he's doing. And it doesn't surprise me one bit.
And I wish I didn't even think about that over
the summer, and when I went to Pebble Beach stuff.
I'm sitting at uh at Spy at the at A
at the spyglass the the end, right and getting ready
(18:15):
to have dinner with all of us, and who do
I walk by Rick's there? Rick? Rick is also like
you is a quarter zip guy, a big, big time
quarter zip guy. Yeah, great to see how you doing somebuddy,
we got to get back. We got to get on. Uh,
gotta get you on, said because anytime, you know how
he is just such a nice guy. He was, And
when I saw that on Saturday, I'm like, he's exactly right.
(18:39):
All the things you may do in your life, nothing
is better than your kid doing it as well and
better than you. And you're sitting there, bro, I would
have seen him say I would have had against Penn
State as much my kid was calling it. You know what, Yes,
I am standing up in chair and that's my son.
He was trying to win some games and and I'm
the I'm his pops. And not only that same Alma mater.
(19:01):
You know that, that's the one thing I'm talking about.
You know, you'd make say same almata. But he ends
up a lot of those guys end up coaching five
other places before they get their opportunity. And you're sitting
there thinking similar path Rick was just it was a
better player. But I don't I would. I don't know
how you finished the show because you could see he
was getting choked up, and it was just special moment
(19:24):
man special moment, and that's when Also there's always a
time in a player's life, no matter how good you
are or how much you've dominated when you're young, that
you still want to know, can I compete with these guys?
You always ask that right as a player and then
when when that or a golfer watch happen over the
week and this fist kid shoots twenty plus twenty under
(19:45):
and wins the tournament, take his first first PGA Tour win,
and you could tell his emotion. He said, you know what,
I knew I was going to come out and be
standing here today and it was his first win. He
was confident. But you don't know that you belong until
you belong and when you and it's the same thing
there you know good coach and you know you're a
good player, but that moment it kicks in where you
make we have a game you walk out of and say,
(20:06):
you know what I do belong. No matter where you recruited,
they're always that doubt until you belong. I remember my
first time as a guy getting recruited and then going
to as a freshman at USC. Dude, you walk on
campus and they're telling you how great you are, and
you're a highly recruited guy. You walk out, you're handing
the ball of Marcus Allen. You're watching Chip Banks and
you got Roy Foster and Bruce Matthews and you're going
(20:26):
around and you're like, do I belong all the de recruitment?
Speaker 9 (20:30):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (20:30):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Dude? It is? And then when you get there, they've
recruit you. But when you get there, you're no longer
the guy who's five stars. You're just another dudeo on campus.
Every single guy on this campus, at some point or
another was told how great they were. Now go prove it.
And I'm sitting here thinking we got third team running
backs that are starting for twenty fifty other schools on
this team. And I'm and I'm like, you just observing
(20:51):
and thinking and this is pretty not like cool. And
it's the same as coach. You coach and you call
players and you think I'm really good, or you're in
your mind and thinking, man, I can get I can
do this, but there's still that doubt of you call
a play to get stuffed. You're like, yeah, in practice,
I think I can do this. And then when Cardinal
that's exactly right. And then when you go do it.
There's something and it's that that it's it's important. But
(21:15):
of all that, nothing better than seeing a pops or
his mom. And I know Rick said she's there. I
hope you're enjoying it when he said that to his wife.
And there can be nothing better than watching your son
or daughter succeed, and especially just the path that his
son took to get where he's at now so similar
and impressive and awesome. And I love seeing that raw motion.
(21:38):
We need more of that in sports.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
I mean, you'd probably think there's some guy in Harrisburg
that'd be like, you know, oh, he was rooting against us,
But I think they were probably more upset with James Franklin.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
For going out there and laying in Absolutely New Heis
was the last thing you were thinking about in the
game of your Penn State. You're like, what in the
world are you guys doing. But even if the Penn
State guys sitting in Swickley, Pennsylvania was mad at New
heisl the other show post game show, oh well, oh well,
(22:09):
what are you going to do? Take a scholarship? I
love seeing moments like that, And even though Rick's a bruin,
I give a lot of love and respect for seeing
his boy do that match.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
I think we're just got back to the Amish and
they just built another barn in protest, So you know.
Speaker 7 (22:26):
They ain't gonna go in there and build a statue
just yet.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I can tell you.
Speaker 6 (22:28):
I say, yeah, I think that James Franklin is probably
not going to be bestowed that honor anytime soon, especially.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Difficult week of practice in the media and on the
field this week for Penn State, and as it will
a few other places. I'm sure right here in Austin too,
that there's gonna be some some put it this way,
when you're in class, you know what you're thinking about
your eight o'clock class on a Monday or Tuesday.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
They coach Sark's probably not real happy with this either.
So I got a lot of.
Speaker 6 (22:56):
Focus into those cut ups in the meeting. They're not
going to not gonna be a ton of cutting up
with them, all right. So let's get back into Detexans because,
like I said, even though you think that the work
might be done well, now, I believe is the time
to really put it in. We'll discuss it is the
Sean Salisbury Show here on a Monday Sports talk seven
to ninety.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
All Right, guys, let's discuss doctor Jeff witzitt in vision. Okay,
he's been nothing but spectacular for me. I always say
when I want to know it. First off, how in
the world would somebody who's never used lasik or never
been to the eye doctor for something important, How in
the world would they be able to speak on somebody?
(23:37):
Talk to the people who've used it. Doctor Witz has
been with me every step of the way for the
last seven or eight years. Every step he's been phenomenal.
So talk to and friends I've sent him the same way.
Talk to those people, not the one who Well, I'm
thinking about getting it done, but here, let me tell
you about this company. How about talking about somebody who's
been there, done it. I'm seeing better than I've seen
the last thirty years, and if there's anything that needs adjusted,
(23:58):
he's doing it. You have the best doctor right here.
You don't have to travel out of state to go
get the last procedure. Guy that you want to get
it done right in eye care doctor, he's phenomenal. He'll
walk you through it. Take away your anxiety stress because
there always is when you're talking about your eyes. But
with the greatest equipment with his great eye and hands
to make sure that you get treated the way he'd
treat his own kid's eyes. Isn't that a nice nice
(24:20):
bonus we get? And then the recovery's quick, you're not
on the table long, and it's non invasive. All those things,
plus you can work out your payment plan. Get it
done right with doctor Jeff Witzett, because your eyes are important,
as you well know, and he's going to make sure
you understand just how comfortable you can be. And that's
a good thing. He's the best in the business, and
I'm grateful. I am a patient. It's seven one three
(24:43):
three sixty five nine seven nine seven one three three
six five nine seven ninety nine. You can get him
at wits it vision dot com. Go for your free
review wits it vision dot com. The Shawn Salisbury Show continues,
and normally during a bye week you will tear it
(25:04):
down a little bit.
Speaker 6 (25:05):
I mean today probably a day off. Tuesdays are always
the day off, and then they'll usually get a light
practice in on a Wednesday, and a lot of times,
Sean you'll have teams that decide to go ahead and
give the players off Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and then
maybe even get them back into the building Sunday evening,
and then you start to kind of get things going again.
(25:26):
I mean, it's gonna be interesting to see how they
handle the travel out to Seattle. Usually teams that have
to go out to the West Coast, they'll leave a
day earlier, so maybe it's a Friday travel day to
get out there, try to get acclimated and all that
kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
But here's what I do. If I'm CJ.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
Stroud and I'm Nick Kayley, any vacation plans, cancel them,
don't do it. Now is the time for you to
really start to buckle down with each other and say, hey,
you know what.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I'll bring.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
I'll bring the coffee and everything one day, you bring
it the next day. But this is when we need
to really get to know each other.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yeah, my experience, I've been both ways. Normally, when you're
West coast going east, you may like when we'd play
Cincinnati when I was in Seattle my rookie year, we
left the day early. But west going east, I would
think that they're gonna do everything they can to stay
on normal. I'll bet you they leave Saturday morning and
get there Saturday and say that's not that far a
flight and to get there because they're headed west as
(26:24):
opposed to the other way around, so maybe maybe they'll
do it. And then there's times when we were in
Minnesota was freezing out and Jerry Burns didn't want to
practice in the cold, so we'd go to Tampa, got
a little a little unfocused and took a beat down.
But you know, it kind of goes both ways. You
got to make sure it's a business trip. I would
hope with a bye week and yeah, you're gonna go
in and watch the tape from yesterday and you should
(26:45):
want to and then today and then you know, take
your normal Tuesday off and maybe a Wednesday or Thursday
if you need. If you need training, I mean like treatment,
that's part you got to get. You got to get
your treatment throughout the week. But I'm going to probably
say that Thursday or short one Thursday, and then they
get afternoon Thursday, Friday, Saturday off, maybe back Sunday, but
(27:10):
you know, to to run or just to loosen up
a little bit and just kind of walk through a
game planning. I would hope that the head coach doesn't
have to tell guys not to go on some vacation
far away. You know, if you listen c J. Strout,
if you want to go watch it. Don't they play
Illinois this week? Ohio State Illinois. If you want to,
you know, go watch your team play. And we see
that all the time. Get away from football. I think
(27:32):
early bye weeks, although this is it's fairly early. It
wasn't this weekend the first by a week weekend we've had,
and I think it was so Hey, you're one of
the early ones. I'd kind of like mine a little
later because you're now you're and especially them, they want
to in a row. You're starting to get in some
football mode. You're like, I don't want to step away
from this because we got some stuff going. We got
a little confidence bruin. But yeah, you hang around, go
(27:53):
get away from football for a couple of days. I
know coaches that have given full weeks off and expect
you to come back the next week ready to go,
but they're not there yet. But I would hope that CJ.
Stroud doesn't have to not c J Stroud, but Demiko
runs doesn't have to address the team and say, hey,
let's not go on any I would hope they're mature
enough that vacations like going where you're in Hawaii for
(28:15):
a week is probably not just save that vacation, but
get away two or three days. Go stay cation, or
get away to go watch your college team play, or
go fishing for a day, take a little two day,
whatever it is, go get away from it. I encourage that,
but the maturity of listen, I just don't believe in
players vacate. Take it a week long spring break vacation
(28:39):
in the fall. When you're playing football, and especially everybody's
a little banged up, make sure you're getting your treatment
so you're ready to go. Because there are great teams.
We were really good coming in at a bye week
with Danny Green. Andy Reid's really good at that. It's
because of the way your expectations, what you put on
your team, and you got a mature team that says
it's football season. You just get a couple of days off.
(29:00):
You know. It's the immature ones to think, oh man,
I get vague vacation time. They come back and you
lose that football edge and it can go away in
a week. Trust me, and I would hope that mature
enough because if you watch the way Seattle's playing if
it's not for Donald bouncing the ball off a guy's
helmet that he was trying to really throw away and
it gets picked and then Baker Mayfield does what Baker
(29:20):
Mayfield seems to do all the time is bring your
team back to a position to win. That was a
hell of a football game. You're getting a good Seattle team.
Now they'll play defense, and Donald's capable throwing for three
point fifty on your ass in a blink of an eye.
So that is going to be a huge one. So
keep football in mind, but it can be on the
back burner for a few days, but no longer vacations
(29:41):
when it comes to this, that's just immature, unfocused football
in my mind. Take a few days, but you don't
need a week in Hawaii, well, I mean, in your
five games in the seasons right at this point, shouldn't
be that war early buys. That's why it's a bummer.
You're like, well, I'm not even really that beat up yet.
I'm just starting to get rolling, and we haven't done
enough to actually warrant a week vacation in Cabo. You know,
you really haven't. So they beat the worst as bad
(30:05):
a team as there is in football, and they played
good offensively for one quarter and then they put four
quarters together yesterday against a team that's as beat up
as anybody, and that lost. Well, what's been two times
the best player in the league. And you could have
given it to him last year if it was for
Josh Allen and Lamarje. Actually you did win, and you
hammered him. You didn't beat him seventeen fourteen. You beat
him down. Feed off that. But don't get too carried
(30:27):
away because they have not arrived yet, but they're getting closer.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
Don't pull the Tony Romo and Jason Witten. Don't pull
the Odell Beckham. A bunch of dudes shirtless on a
boat in Miami.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
If you want to go on a boat and have
fun and lay out in the sun for a day
or two, great, I just don't, I think, And well,
does it matter, Dudees it matter? The optics actually do
matter to your teammates during the season. I don't care
what you're doing. You want to go and play golf
in February is not going to affect your game into October,
trust me. But just have just just get a feel
(31:01):
for what you're trying to accomplish because the optics to it,
because you don't want anybody to think that, oh, yeah
we had a good game, now and go vacation, get apart.
You just got out of summer. Take your time, and
I would go and I wouldn't go get on social
media two or three or four days. Whatever it is.
You stay away from it, but don't get so far
removed from it that you like the game plan. And
(31:21):
if you're a CJ. Stroud, you sure as hell want
to stay in touch with Nick Kaylee because you still
want to have a say in game planning and what
you're feeling good about. Because it seemed to me yesterday
they put people in positions to succeed on a regular basis,
and it looked like he didn't look like a rookie
play caller yesterday.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
No, and it was it was nice to see.
Speaker 6 (31:39):
I mean, you got a lot of different guys involved.
I mean even you know running the football too. You
know I talked about it thirty three times you run
the ball yesterday. I mean a couple of times British
Brooks were in that number forty four. I mean throw
it out there. So that's the ghost of Vante Leech
back there as the full back.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
A couple of fullback.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Dives and you an old school offense, you were like,
hell yeah, let's go.
Speaker 7 (32:01):
They had so much energy from the get go yesterday.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
And it was like I said, listen, when you're a player,
you're not going into a game thinking, huh, they got
their backup defensive tackle and this will be easy. You're
going in thinking that guy's getting paid too, and they're
not coming out of it and say, yeah, well they're not
gonna They're not gonna shrink themselves. Because the Baltimore Ravens
were beat down. How many teams go full seed. Most
(32:25):
teams that are playing that are good have backups that
go play and you're gonna have to count on them
during the year. Baltimore Ravens backups right now are very good, dude,
at many positions. I mean, they were bad, So you
take that. It's a win, man, it's a win. It
was an impressive one. And the thing that impressed me
the most, like I said, they kept their they kept
(32:45):
the gas pedal down and they didn't beat a team
thirteen to ten that you're supposed to hammer, even it's
in their ability and I know they were fit road favorites,
but nobody in this game going into this thought, well,
Baltimore is a better team on paper right now than
the Texans, no way. But the paper doesn't mean a
hill of beans unless you can go close it out
and play it like they did. And they beat them,
(33:06):
and they showed it was impressive because they beat him.
They choked them out, and it was a It was
a great watch. And now you got a feed off
because the guys you're playing after the buye are are
a little different and the schedule is not gonna get
any easier. And another thing with that is that it
is so easy to get out of competitive modude.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
I'm just telling you where you get. Think about it.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
How many times you going on vacation when you're working,
take a week vacation, you come back, and how long
does it take you to get back into the mix.
You're like, man a week, fella every three days? Sure
it does. And guess what you can't afford to do
take two or three days to get back into it
here because you will get hammered by Seattle in their building.
Don't want that to happen. It's a tough place to play.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
In the Texans trying to avoid being one of the
teams that make it even tougher on themselves out there.
All right, Might the right combination have been found yesterday?
We'll discuss that here as we continue here on the
Seawan Salisbury Show. You want to in someone three two
one two five seven ninety against someone three two one
two five seven and ninety as we continue here on
(34:07):
Sports Talk seven to ninety. But I talk to you
all the time about Kobe Stevens Apparel, Kobe Stevens dot Com,
and permission to brag on Kobe and the crew here
for just a second.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
A couple of quick stories and they're gonna be really quick.
Like one of them.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
I was just talking with Kobe over the weekend and
he was like, Hey, you know, I had this guy
out at one of our recent tournaments and he and
his group, you know, they're making the turn on the
car path. They see the tent right there, and the
guy said, oh, dance telling the truth. You guys really
are at these things. And Kobe and the crew were like, yeah, yeah,
pretty much. You got a golf tournament this time of
the year, we're gonna be out here like right now,
(34:40):
I'm sure Kobe and the crew they're loaded up. They're
heading south on the Golf Freeway right now down to
the Moody Gardens golf Course because the third Annual Galveston
up Firefighters Association Golf Tournament happening today out there, and
Kobe and the crew gonna be out there. If the
tent's gonna be set up, you're gonna have the shirts
on the mannequin, all of those things right there for
(35:01):
you if you're playing in that tournament and Kobe and
the crew are gonna be there to get you set up.
I've said it all the time and I'll continue to
say it. I'm talking polos, I'm talking t shirts, I'm
talking hats, shorts, ladies and youth options all available right
there when you see that tent or when you go
to Kobe Stevens dot com, and I talk about those
college football polos all the time, the purple and gold one. Well,
(35:24):
the Tiger's back on the field this week. So if
you're heading over to Death Valley Kobe Stevens dot com,
and we've talked about Mike Elco's team and how well
they're playing right now, you want a Maroon and white
one Kobe Stephens dot Com. What about a burn orange
and white one if you're heading up to Dallas this weekend?
Right there, Kobe Stevens dot Com. The red and white
for the Kougs. They're gonna get back on track and
you can look good when you see them get back
(35:45):
on track by heading over to Kobe Stevens dot com.
It's Kobe Stevens dot Com, Kobe Stephens dot Com, Coby
Stevens with a VS at the end, Cobe Stevens dot Com.
Kobe Stevens Apparel for.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
The Shawn Very Show continues.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
And you know, now you know like it was, it
was a good change up. And that's about what a
buck nine, buck ten or something of what one hundred
and seven and.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
Eight I saw one hundred and eight. I think it
was the fifth largest crowd they've ever had.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Impressive and uh they this is gonna be fun to
watch them throughout the rest of year because like I said,
they'll be in every game with that defense. Just got
to make sure the offense continues to elevate every week,
can get better.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
So agg swag, Now, uh what top five and both
coaches in the AP so five and oh on the year,
And I mean, if you're an Aggie fan, I think
the only thing is just trying to make sure you
don't have that trip up and then another trip up,
because I mean, it seems like it always compounds with them,
like if they lose one, then they lose two or
three of.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
The difference for me and watching them, and like I said,
you know, if you're going to have a battle of
Texas Tech and them are the two best teams in
the state right now. I agree the the past, they've
wilted physically as the season has gone on, Like since
I've been the SEC, they've had fast starts before remember
when someone was there, They've had some fast starts and
then eventually it wears them down. I just think this
(37:12):
team's a bit different. I do now. I don't know
what it's going to end up, what it's going to
translate to when the season's over. But in this conference,
you can't If you're finesse, you're you're gonna end up
getting found out. You just will. And if you're a
physical early but don't have the depth to be physical
as the season rolls along past Halloween in that group,
then you're gonna get found out. Too. But if you're
(37:32):
a physical and you've got depth and you're not beating
yourselves offensively, you know, by turning the ball over and
putting your defense in a mind like I said, it'll
travel and they'll be around. But I feel like this
team physically and and is a little different than we've
seen in the past. Now we'll see, we'll see what
that means when you're playing, continue to play a tough,
tough schedule. Casey concepts on Man, he's a difference maker
(37:56):
for him and Marcel Reid. I mean, you know it,
least the passing game is one that probably next year
you want to see that development out of him. But
I mean Le'Veon Moss the dynamic talent.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
And Ruben Owens, I mean a guy that I think
is kind of forgotten about there because everybody looks at Moss,
but ruben Owens is there saying, hey, dude, what about me?
Yep at six point eight yards per carry yep stayed
of course, man, they're doing some good things. Just don't
beat yourself and you'll be in all of them.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
There we go.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
So the aggs two and zero in sec play in
five and OHO over all. But I mentioned the right
combination for the Texans. And did you notice yesterday ju
just Scrugs getting a start over there at left guard.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
It seemed like it worked out.
Speaker 6 (38:38):
You got urst Rate at the left tackle, Scrugs there
at the left guard, Jake Andrews as the center, and
then the right side stays the same with Ed Ingram
and also Titus Howard over there at the right. I mean, Sean,
what have we asked for the offensive line and you
and again we can get back to it where it's
all right Baltimore a little banged up, fine, but again
(38:59):
that's not your problem.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Play good capable football and you give your chance, your
team a chance. All right, Well, this team's problem has
been it wouldn't matter who the players are being able
to decipher upfront, simple protections and blocking schemes, which they
haven't been able to do. But I will tell you,
and you've got to give it the credit and criticism
if you're being honest with them, They've deserved every ounce
of criticism they've got. But if you're not seeing strides,
(39:25):
then you're not watching them because they have gotten better.
Put it this way, some of the things that have
gone wrong have not just been offensive line let's put
it that way. So, and I saw them yesterday start
to it looks to me there's a little continuity starting
to form. Now, does that mean they're going to be
dominant when they play somebody else who's a Seattle is
going to come get you. Their coach is a defensive
(39:45):
guy who knows how to get after you. He just does.
So they'll will be. They'll have their tests, and they
get two weeks to prepare for that. But they have
made improvements a matter of fact, as far as just
whether you want to call them quantum leaps, I'm not
sure where quantum leap shit. But on this football team
over the last two and a half weeks, the truth
(40:06):
is the most improved unit, it's them now. Improved and
dominant are two different things. But at least for the
most part yesterday and the fourth quarter of the game before,
they blocked and protected the stuff that you're supposed to.
If you got five to block four, I should never
have a problem. Right now, it's still crept in. There
was one time, like I said, they gave up a
(40:28):
few you know, hits and sacks and you can't give
a clear path to the quarterback. You've got to be
able to decipher who to get and sometimes it happens.
But as long as it's not a continual thing, it's
going to happen in every game. Every offensive line goes
through it. Hell, I watched Cleveland's front. They've got two
like guys in Teller and Botonio, who have had Pro
(40:50):
Bowl stuff in their background. You know, they've been good
put and I watched them at one point like, what
are you guys thinking on this play? But it happens,
guys go the wrong way sometimes we've seen that happen.
But they're an improved group and it's a small sample size.
But once you find it and keep those five guys
in and they get better, that will be the key
in this division them moving forward. As long as that
(41:11):
they can control the line of scrims, and they did.
They have done even a better job in controlling the
line scrims in a run game. So the two different
I've seen plenty of teams that are really good against
pass protecting but can't control the line screams physically at
the line pushing the pile. They're doing a good job
of creating some lanes and then they're running the ball
pretty physical, right now it's the pass protection deciphering and
(41:34):
the mental smarts that go with it. They're doing a
better job of it, and it's impressive to see. Well.
Speaker 6 (41:39):
At times it seemed like the Texans could be part
of this group. But aren't you glad they are no
longer part of this group. We'll discuss that as we
get to the seven o'clock hour on a Monday edition
Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven to ninety.
Speaker 11 (41:51):
AB Houston at Houston, the Astros, the Rockets, roucketss befall
your home for your home to Meames, this is Sports
Talk seven ninety make Houston Sports the number one precpt
on your car radio and the new it improved iHeartRadio
app free never sounded so good.
Speaker 12 (42:15):
Saulsbury, Old very Salisbury, Houston.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
Southbury to usc Troup's longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
Dan, MATTHEWSCU Jesus, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (42:36):
Texas Tech beats you of eighth thirty five eleven. Texas
loses to Florida twenty nine to twenty one, A and
M taken out to Mississippi State thirty one to nine
and back to the NFL because we do have a
game of a note tonight because Jacksonville gonna host the Chiefs.
Is Kansas City trying to help out the Texans a
(42:56):
little bit, and that definitely would because Indianapolis does not lose.
That's a little bit of a problem, as I mean,
I get it the Raiders. See, it looked like after
the first week you were like, all right, here's Pete Carroll,
and then the next four weeks that's been oh yeah,
you're still the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Sorry they they Gino is not playing real good football
right now. I know that they put up some number
of stats that to be going into the last couple
of weeks, like yards, and but that tells me you're
playing from behind and piling them up because what was
the last week for you know, through four picks what
have you. He's a good player, but he's not playing
very well. I'll tell you what though, through all that,
(43:36):
think about the talk about the parts being better than
the sum Genti's a monster dude. He he is going
to be a great player in this league. Max Crosby
full grown man. They've got some players. The problem is
they just don't know how to win yet and you
can see the frustration starting to kick in. I think
we expected them to be better, but Indianapolis took it
(43:58):
to them. Indianapolis is if I missed on a thought
process going into a season, did not give them enough credit.
But I don't know how many people could have. You know,
you're trying to one that they've got. You know, Taylor's back.
I think he leads a league in rushing, or at
least going into the game yesterday did. And and the
way that you know you're gonna get Pittman and their
(44:20):
defense is really stout, and they're protecting the quarterback. I
think it comes down to any time we wonder what's
gonna happen at the quarterback position, you're you're you'll always
downgrade a team wonder, well, we don't know who Daniel
Jones is gonna be?
Speaker 8 (44:32):
Right?
Speaker 7 (44:33):
Well, I think we do now.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
He was well coached by cut Cliff in college, got
caught up in a bad situation with the Giants. They
didn't play well at times, and now he's got a
group of guys and that whatever reason. Sometimes a change
a venue and change a scenery can upgrade you. And
boy did they make the right right move by playing
him instead of the guy they drafted two years ago,
because he's more accurate, he's got really good feet. They're there,
(44:57):
They are good. I did not give them enough credit
going in, and I'm not sure a lot of people did.
But as you're watching them, fully missed because I'm thinking
maybe going in, I thought they were the second best
team of division, but by about two or three games,
and both of those teams, them in Jacksonville have responded
this year and they're playing good football. And this is
a good test for Jacksonville tonight, especially against the KANSASAE
(45:19):
Chiefs defense, which is usually the last couple of years
been the strength of their team. Because we're waiting for
Trevor Lawrence to elevate to the next level. I mean,
he shows you flashes of it, but consistently where you're saying,
now that guy's here, Now he's finally doing it every
single game. This is going to be an interesting game
tonight and see how they go. But the divisions also tougher,
sans the Tennessee Titans, tougher than we thought. The Texans
(45:42):
are going to be better than their start, but both
the Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars are far better than
many thought going into the season.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
If yesterday had not gone the way that the Texans
hoped it would, then they probably would have been part
of an article that Dean Zaksinski from or Zach Shesky
from out Kick put together, and the headline is there
are some very very bad teams in the NFL, A
ton of them. He points out the Jets, which, dude,
(46:12):
I got to be honest with you. I mean, I
don't think the Jets will do it because he's a
legacy guy there. But as bad as they look, you
almost have to wonder if it want and done for
Aaron Glenn is on the table because that's a football
team that looks like they're not going to win a
game this year.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
Have they got a turnover on defense?
Speaker 11 (46:28):
Yet?
Speaker 1 (46:28):
No, they haven't.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
I saw that stat yesterday once it went final that
they're the first team in NFL history to start off
zero to five and not have a single turnover.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Yeah, it's a It's not a good watch, dude, it isn't.
And I understand. And they've got some talented players on
their team. They do well. If it keeps up like this, yeah,
Aaron's gonna have a hard I mean, people move on,
and he is. He's been a well text A and
m guy who was a hell of a player here,
hell of an NFL player. I like him, But you
(46:59):
know this, we're so impatient. We're not gonna let a
guy get the guys he fully wants. Yet so impatient
with our coaches. But you can't keep going. We brought
him in to also dominate on defense. And if you're
not forcing turnovers five games in at least one, there's
a problem there. So we'll see how that turns out.
But they they are. They look really sluggish, unlike the
(47:21):
other team in the division, New England Patriots look pretty
damn good. Mike Brabel's impacts here. I think Aaron can coach,
But you don't get two or three years anymore to
get get your rear end.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
Handity and have that happen.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
So it's it's but I'm sure that article pointed out
the Titans and pointed out and it had the Texas
have got beat yesterday, he probably would have threw them
into that or I haven't read the article. So now
the Ravens are in there, there's more bad teams in
this league or playing bad football than there is good yeah,
in a major separation now.
Speaker 6 (47:54):
And it's funny too because there is a someone had
to win wing of this article.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Saints b the Giants.
Speaker 6 (48:00):
Nobody's thinking that the Saints are that much of a
threat to anyone. And then the Panthers beating the Dolphins.
I mean talking about guys that might be on borrowed time.
And we know that Stephen Ross is quick to be
able to pull the heavo on someone. You gotta be
sure he's not gonna get fired this week. You almost wonder,
I mean, especially after they had a lead.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
Yeah, they had a seventeen point lead. Yeah, and then
they lost it, which goes back to that they have
nothing physical about them. Mm hmm.
Speaker 7 (48:27):
They are finesse as it gets in this league.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
Uh. I was watching, you know, and watching it and
going through it. I'm thinking, and I'm gonna tell you what.
Bryce Young is gonna elevate into a good player in
the league. Dude. He's he's being coached well, which you
saw a little patience with him. He's he's doing some
good things. The Carolina is Carolina is a team that,
like you feel like they're a player or two away
from even elevating even more. But yeah, Miami, they're they're dude,
(48:52):
They're bad, and they are They're They're the number one
pillow fight team in the league. They just are they
And I will and maybe I'm wrong, but looking at
it and the way it's going and the way they
got beat yesterday, I think there will be some that
wonder if he's going to make it to Tuesday this week.
Speaker 6 (49:11):
Got out scored seventeen to seven in the final two
quarters of the game, so the second half not good
for them. We talked about the Raiders. They're not good.
I mean you mentioned the Ravens, the Browns. I mean,
they have that game, then you give up the game
winning touchdown.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
They're late.
Speaker 6 (49:27):
Although I mean, I will say this, I do think
that Gabriel looked pretty good.
Speaker 7 (49:33):
He is their quarterback.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Make zero mistake now, the mid range throws, like the
intermedy throws. He was inaccurate at times, and I know
some were throwaways. I'll tell you the most disappointing battle
I watched that whole game this day is Kevin Stefanski's
approached late calling plays.
Speaker 7 (49:48):
I was shocked.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
I don't know why they did what they did. They
got away from It was like they handed the Minnesota
Vikings a chance down the stretch. But Gabriel, you could
see the moment's not too big for him. He got hit,
took some hits, stood in there, made some really good
accurate throws. They gave him stuff to do, and he
missed some throws. But he also he's gonna have to
get a little better in that intermediate range, no doubt.
(50:11):
He wasn't real sharp there, but a couple of touchdowns.
For the most part, protect the football. Like I said,
he missed some that he'd like to add back. But
in the last half of this fourth quarter, I thought
Kevin Stefanski gave Minnesota every opportunity to win it. And
what a throw by Wentz down the stretch and what
I catch by Addison, I mean, just a beautiful throw
(50:33):
on the right and the right pylon and it was Minnesota.
But that's a good defense and dealing with Brian Floores
like you had to deal with him, and he got
to hit a few times. Gabriel, Stop all the talk
Dylan Gabriel starting next week. In the rest of Dylan
Gabriel for the most part, stepped in. Now you lost,
and that's you're supposed to win, but it's a rookie
(50:54):
face and a very difficult task and it's you know,
in London, I thought Dylan Gabriel showed that he at
least right now belongs with more opportunities. But they're going
to have to get better at some mid range throws.
And Kevin Stefanski did not put them in the best
position in the fourth quarter to win. He just didn't,
which surpride surprise. At least the offense showed some life.
(51:15):
They showed some life yesterday and in your Saints, they
made big plays yesterday which was a big part of
the reason they won, which they have not made this year. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (51:23):
I mean especially too for the Giants where last week
they're feeling good, they're like, oh hey, we've got our guy,
Jackson Dart and then this week.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
And he played well, but the problem is he laid
it on the ground, didn't he had well? The two rookies,
he and scattaball both fumbles on the ground. Laid it
on the ground, which gave the Saints hope. And then
the big play down with the big play on a
great pass call and a protection on a long route
that deep over come back to the corner and once
he had the ball in his hand, he was gone
(51:50):
and you are catching him. Big plays were a big
part of it. But Giants self destructed and laid that
ball on the ground and did not They don't secure
the football.
Speaker 6 (52:00):
Even bad teams beat you in this league. And you're
not the Bengals either. I mean, no Joe Burrow. That
obviously makes a huge difference, but I mean that's a bad.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Team's got to move some players at the deadline, buddy.
There's some teams that got to start to think about
moving some players. And if you're Hendrickson, you're like, uh,
you can trade me somewhere. I'd like to go play.
Almost when you're San Francisco or something. Jamar Chase is
getting to that point where he's laying a Teams are
going to move some because it's like we got to
one player when when you're five players away from being
(52:30):
five players away on about ten teams in this league,
you may have to cut some payroll and go get
some assets and let some of these veterans go because
there is some it's as bad if the bad.
Speaker 7 (52:40):
Teams are really really bad, really bad.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
And with that win yesterday and I even made mention
of it, of Dak Prescott. We showed how good we
can be.
Speaker 6 (52:49):
It's like you beat the Jets, buddy, You beat the Jets,
and you're talking about because Jerry is always one of
those guys that thinks he's one player away from being
one player away two to two and one. You know
that he's going to be tempted to ship off some
of those draft picks he got for Micah Parsons, and
that you know it's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
And the defense is still not that good, dude, No,
you can playing get Tredy Andrews said, it's not gonna
make a difference, and well help, but you're still you
still need a couple more over there. Yeah, well, Dak,
Dak's not lying offensively, they'll score nobody ever question. I
know they could score. But when you say show how
good we can be, that's like, that's like doing handstands
and crawling ten miles over broken glass. Because you beat
(53:28):
the Titans the week before meeting the Texans, there's other
tests along the way. Now, go beat Philly, go beat Washington,
go on a consistent BA go beat those teams defensively.
Win a thirteen to ten game and come see me.
But the Cowboys did. The Cowboys do look like something offensively,
which is nice to see. You got into a shootout
with Russell Wilson. What does that say about you? Well, well,
(53:52):
Russell's handing the hand in the other quarterback gatorade right now,
so that there's that. Okay, were through for what four
fifty five, but we're back to offensively. Cowboys got a
ways to go to, but they look offensively. They're going
to be hell to pay because when Prescott's going good
and they're running it, they're gonna be pretty good.
Speaker 6 (54:07):
Watch when the trade deadline comes up, you're going to
hear the rumors about the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
They're going to be out there whether they're Whether they're
out there or not, you're going to hear the rumors
about the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (54:15):
Hey, let's go get Roy Williams. Yeah, that's going to
really turn you into a Super Bowl contender. Good idea. Anyway,
that's their problem.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
All right.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
I saw this story and I was like, this is
actually true, Like this exists. We'll discuss here is it's
the steakout here on a Monday edition that Shawn Salisbury
show Sports SOX seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (54:35):
The Salisbury Steakout on seven ninety's brought to you by
Hellsburg Diamonds. Find the engagement ring worthy of your story
yet Helsburg visit at Hellsburg Store or Hellsburg dot Com.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 4 (54:54):
The Salisbury Stakeout, Salisbury Teakout on the.
Speaker 2 (54:58):
Sean Salisbury s Oh.
Speaker 6 (55:03):
That time in the morning here on the Sean Salisbury
Show Sports Talks seven ninety is the Texans win yesterday
forty four to ten over the Ravens in Baltimore. Texas
Tech beats you of h thirty five to eleven. Texas
loses to Florida on the road twenty nine to twenty one,
and A and m able to beat Mississippi State thirty
(55:24):
one to nine. Do get Monday night football, and so
we'll be watching it closely. He got the the Jaguars
hosting the Chiefs tonight, So we'll keep a close eye
see if Kansas City can help the Texans and do
them a solid. But Quicksand I never actually knew was
a real thing. I always just thought that was a
wives tale. I always thought that you know it was,
(55:47):
Wasn't it Like on Gilligan's Island once where Gilligan got
caught and you know he's sinking all the way up
to his bucket hat. And then finally, you know, Skipper
or Mariann or somebody got him out and that her
name Ginger or somebody iners the redhead Mary and.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
The the the dark haired one. Okay, then the skipper too, Skipper,
you got the professor, the professor the move eastar. You
know who does a great impersonation of of what's the
billion the millionaire and his wife? What's his name? Ash dang?
(56:24):
You did you know who I've talked? Well, the millionaire,
the older man, Jim Backus is his name real life.
Trey Wingo does a great impersonation of Lovey how he
calls her lovey.
Speaker 7 (56:36):
Trey Wingo's prior matter of factor.
Speaker 1 (56:37):
We get him on, we have to have him do
the professor, I mean the millionaire his wife, he's classic.
Speaker 6 (56:44):
Well, there was a guy named Matt Alexander who was
on a duck hunt in Maine. So going after their
trying the part of banger trying trying to go up
to is it banger man?
Speaker 1 (56:56):
I don't think it was. Banger was close close check,
but anyway on a duck hunt up there. So he
was going after the waterfowl, as as our buddy Doug
Pike would tell you, you know.
Speaker 7 (57:08):
And nothing wrong will gold after a little waterfowl.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
It's good eating too.
Speaker 6 (57:12):
But he was waist deep in thick mud before police
had to airboat to pull him free. So that's one
of those, you know, he gets stuck in there, guys,
I can't get out. All right, Well, let's go get
fish and wildlife for somebody, and then you know, got
the airboat right there. All right, Hey, we're gonna throw
you a line, all right, tell us when you're ready
(57:34):
on three, all right, one, two, and they pull you out,
you know, because the element of surprise has got to
be there.
Speaker 1 (57:41):
You didn't think you didn't think quicksand existed? I didn't thought,
was I did? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (57:49):
I really did, because like it's just on its merit,
it's like, should we test that theory? Well, I mean, wait,
is there anywhere like to find some I would imagine,
Well you could probably google and say where would we where.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
Could you find quicksand? Now I would imagine he found
he found a mud that he couldn't get out of.
Now that just makes me, wonder is it like so deep?
I don't know, man, I don't know where does it
just where?
Speaker 6 (58:12):
Is there quicksand quicksand occurs globally?
Speaker 1 (58:16):
This feels like the Rogan Show right here.
Speaker 6 (58:18):
See if you can find that Jamie quicksand globally in
any environment with saturated loose sand or soils, such as beaches,
river banks, marshes and coastal areas. So I mean probably
you could just go down to like Jamaica beach or
somewhere right here and find some.
Speaker 1 (58:33):
I would imagine there's some. Is there you think there's
some in Louisiana? Could be I could tell you where
else there should be San Louis Pass.
Speaker 6 (58:40):
You would you know where you can walk about a
mile out and still be about knee deep in water.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
It would seem to me like the rainforest. Uh, you
know it's one of the like in certain parts of
Hawaii where it's there, you know, in certain parts where
you get the rainforest where it's constantly you know, where
you're getting three hundred days of rain a year. I'd
imagine certain places you can find. Yeah, it was Uh.
Speaker 6 (59:01):
He was trudging the calm flats off Brunswick when he
stepped into thick, sticky mud and couldn't get out. See
this is a little misleading, so it's not really quicksand
he just got stuck in mud, that.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
Was what was it pilling him under. He just couldn't
get out. I mean, yeah, I think he just, like
you know, was was sinking, sinking, probably like thinking to himself,
like I got my waiters on him, all right, and
then sure enough it's just like, yeah, no, I'm not
getting out of this. So he talked to you Amazon
would probably wouldn't you think when that could be a
place so sure there's enough I mean every every two
(59:37):
steps or some critter there that's gonna you got no shot,
which reminds me I'll tell you a story that's got
big old this weekend.
Speaker 6 (59:44):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, would maybe even
like in the Saharan desert like some of those dudes,
maybe not like you know, so compacted.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
Yeah, I mean, and depending on the moisture you get
when it happens, right, depending on where you are.
Speaker 7 (59:57):
So I'm I'm playing golf Friday.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
And uh, playing by myself because I went a little
later in the day. So and then you could play
like eighteen dollars in three hours, so I'd go it
with the tea box, dude. And I felt something early
when I got up. I'm like, man, what is it
like on my leg? Like you feel like there's a
mosquito or something? Right, So I knock it off. So
I'm driving from one green to the next tea box
(01:00:22):
and all of a sudden, man, I feel it again.
It's inside because you know, I'm more in shorts that dude.
And it up near near my Nezutsky's, you know, up
there the groin area. Dude, I got, I started, I
started feeling. I said, what is that? And I went
after it and the things stung me so free, dude,
I usually like a beast. That stuff doesn't usually bother me. Dude,
(01:00:44):
it it felt like they too. Whatever stinger was went
like three inches into my and about about an inch
and a half from my you know, from your from
your stuff. Yeah, and if if at that, I would
have been Did you see where the miller's by that was? Dude.
I popped out of that golf cart and I saw
(01:01:04):
it fly away, big ass black bug. Now looked it up.
I guess the wasp probably. And then I'm sitting there waiting.
I say, okay, I'm not gonna start, and I'm by myself,
and then I take out of the chad the ice
that they put a water in the ice chest, you know,
in the golf cart. Dude, I got it. It looked
like I've said, there holding it because you know you
put ice on it.
Speaker 7 (01:01:25):
Right away.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
Two dudes walk by it. I'm like holding it. I
look at him. I say, uh, I'm just holding this
because I just got stung bad. And they're they're they say, okay, okay,
I said, I think so, I said, but if you
come back around and you see me laying on the
pavement and if I'm going to to anaphlactic shot, yeah,
and I seriously, then you start to create stuff like okay,
(01:01:47):
is this heat?
Speaker 7 (01:01:48):
And it was hot?
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
But you're like, all right, am I am? I am?
I starting to see blurry? Why am I starting to
get hallucination? But my stupidity, you know what I do.
Instead of going I keep the thing there and go
to the tea box and start playing again. And I'm
all of a sudden thinking, okay, if you start to
your your breathing starts to become deep, and I'm like damn,
but it it was fine. I went home and you know,
(01:02:11):
put a little stuff on it and iced it down.
But it was you know, one of those it shocks
you so bad. You're like, what in the hell was
that I expected to find? Like a three inch stinger?
And I'm like, man, but the funny thing, right when
I had ice on it, I'm like standing there on
the back of my cart, like leaning over, like like
you're putting, like like you just had surgery and you're
growing right, And the guy's buck. They look at me
(01:02:32):
and go, okay, oh yeah, I'm just sorry. This is
just this is just a bottle of water that's been
in the ice. I'm trying to I got bit, are
you okay?
Speaker 7 (01:02:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
Just make sure you keep an eye if I'm here
when you come back around you so I don't die.
Speaker 6 (01:02:46):
Hey is that the same guy? Why is he face
down in the ground but with his driver in his head?
Oh my god, he passed out. The medics now because
we start talk about it, Amazon a quick sut of thinking
about every two steps. Probably got to worry about that
if you go to the rainforest, because of all the
creatures and stuff there. But it got me man, and
then it flew away, and I say, you little you know, Yeah,
(01:03:07):
I was gonna say, why don't you stick around for
the battle? Yeah, let's go, you gotta do it. Let's
sit there, let's let's let's square up after any buddy
can't run. Yeah, you wandered into my neighborhood. It wasn't
the other way around, dude.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
Two more inches to the side of the neighborhood and
I'm sprinting around trying.
Speaker 7 (01:03:22):
You don't have what you're You're still running around like.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Oh man, It's like, you know, I didn't need elephant
Titus at the time, so I didn't know what was
going on.
Speaker 6 (01:03:30):
It's like you know when when there's a shark attack
and then somebody will say, like on the news, Oh,
it's a there's a shark problem.
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
No, you're the problem. You're in their home.
Speaker 6 (01:03:40):
You know, the shark pulls up to you know, to
to seven eleven or something nobody here. Well, then yeah,
you got a shark problem. But as long as you're
in their home, no, you're the problem. Yeah, and they're
just throwing you out of their home. So whose home
is on the golf course? The wasp for mine?
Speaker 13 (01:03:55):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
I would probably say, since it was built up, we've
was battling for space.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
We be enacted it.
Speaker 7 (01:04:01):
Yeah, so it's on it's on us.
Speaker 6 (01:04:03):
Well no, no, no, I think you know it's it's it's
also to the wasp. I mean it's probably like you know,
a fly that gets into a house, or if you
ever had a bird in your house and you're trying
to whisk them out the door. Yeah, and then you know,
I mean you can't necessarily just tell the bird all right, hey, hey,
just like about a foot lower and then you're out.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
You're you're gone, and don't fly into the windows that
we're just washed.
Speaker 7 (01:04:23):
See that too.
Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
But yeah, dude, I it was like, I mean, it
was one of those shots and it hurt like hell,
and like and when it's that close to your business,
it's on the arm or something different. Story that was
that was Amazon rainforests.
Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
That's that's one of those like if you're watching the
Astros and you know there's a foul tip and it
gets the catcher, Blummer will always oh, oh that's where
Oh yeah, yeah, I got it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Now, man, that had to hurt George Castanza in the theater.
That's gotta hurt. That's a hard one. Hey, put some
dirt on it. Yeah, that's a hard one to Ruskin say, Yeah,
that that one's a little bit unintended. Now it's it's
it's definitely a tough proposition, no doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
But let's get back into the Texans. If you want
to jump in someone three two one two five seven ninety.
Is this guy finally found a home? We'll discuss as
we continue along here. Seven o'clock hour, Sean Salisbury Show
on Monday Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Well, you know what.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
When you put a comedian on, you got to be
prepared for it all but oh you do, no, no, no,
you're speaking of which college game day?
Speaker 9 (01:05:31):
Do you?
Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:05:32):
Give me him all day? That guy is. He's priceless.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
Man. I love theo Von. He could have talked the
whole time and I'd have been good with it. Man,
that guy is so funny. The pub they're my right home.
I got a pick Vanderbill. No really, they're my right home.
Speaker 14 (01:05:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Hey, they're they're getting me back to Nashville. Man, I
gotta pick them.
Speaker 7 (01:05:51):
I like that dude, Yes, just he just he's kind
of just one of the dudes.
Speaker 15 (01:05:55):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:05:55):
He he recently had an Amish kid on his show,
and then about a week or so later, he had
Pete Davidson on and they were playing back to like
what the Amish kids says, like like they're rebellion, you know,
being rebellious is uh, you know, getting out of the
I don't know if you call it a compound or whatever,
(01:06:16):
to like go like into the secular world. And he
was like, yeah, you know, we listened to a little
bit of this how the kid talks. We listened to
a little bit of def Leppard, you know, Ghana too,
And he said that he really likes.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
Weird Al's homage Paradise.
Speaker 6 (01:06:30):
And as soon as he said that, Pete Davidson lost
his mind laughing because like, I think it's that weird
dal Yankovic.
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
Yeah, that's that's how he said it. Yeah, imagine Davidson
and Vaughn together. We're pretty trippy.
Speaker 9 (01:06:44):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
Him with Louis c K too.
Speaker 7 (01:06:48):
I think the classic it was great.
Speaker 6 (01:06:50):
On College Game, Louis talked about he had a recent
com like a recent set.
Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
He saw that somebody was so bothered this set and goes, oh,
did I did I offend you? Like you know, well,
you're a comedian, and I'm prepared to be offended every
time I go in. There is which is a good thing.
I was gonna say.
Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
There's certain comics that, like, you know, if you're going
to see them, if you're easily offended, don't.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
Well why would anybody go see a comedy show that
you're you're you're pissed if you get offended, Like.
Speaker 6 (01:07:21):
Tony Hinchcliffe is a prime example. If you're going to
see Tony Hinchcliff and you're easily offended, you're going to
be offended.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
Well, I don't if you're if you're easily offended by
any comment by by comedy period, just then stay home.
Speaker 6 (01:07:33):
Dave Chappelle, It's like it's like everybody was so upset
with him after his Netflix special.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
I'm like, he's a comedian. That's what they do. I
don't get it. I don't. Well they can't do Yeah,
they actually can. They got a hall passed pretty much.
Now back back to it's about time we're getting back
to comedians offending people. I love it and it should
they should offend us all. That's like, if you're offended
by somebody, I mean, if they're getting after you or
your class or your your your where you went to school,
(01:07:59):
or yeah, that's called comedy and you're supposed to be
there and laugh. I just don't get it. Craig Shoemaker,
the love Master.
Speaker 6 (01:08:05):
I remember once I went to see him and he
told a terrorist joke and it got a feel ooz
and he stops and goes, that's.
Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
What got you off side? Right, terrorist joke? Right, that's
why you're bothered? Are you really all? I just to me,
if you go to a comedy show, you're prepared for
anything and everything. If you're not, take two weeks off
and quit going to comedy shows. I just I don't
get and then complain, well that guy was dirty, really
yeah he offended race and religion and everything. Really what
(01:08:35):
a shot surprise Hence comedian we need more. George Carlin,
Eddie Murphy, Richard pryor, Dave Chappelle offending us all. You
know what, spent two hours of just an Aaron forty
five minutes of just tying into all of us and
let us laugh and joke and walk out saying damn,
(01:08:56):
he got us today.
Speaker 7 (01:08:57):
That's his job as a comedian.
Speaker 6 (01:08:59):
And look, you want to have your sensibilities soothed, then
go see how he mandel.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
Yeah, if you're if you're right, If you're somebody who's
offended by cuss words or that, then what did what
did Richard Pryor tell Eddie Murphy to tell Bill Cosby, Hey,
have a coke and a smile and shut the blank up?
And if you wanted clean comedy, well you didn't get
that with him. In other ways, a life, did you?
So to deal with the fun comedy? That's a two
hour get away from everything type things like a movie?
(01:09:25):
Are you offended? They? Well that movie will? The headline
alone tells you what they're gonna do. It's John Wick.
He's got cut heads off and beat people up and
break bones and shoot people in the skull. Well, I
don't like violence really well the interesting okay, then maybe
I don't like war. But you're gonna go see Band
of Brothers. Okay, you know what I'm saying. It's just
(01:09:46):
a bridge over the river. Kwai?
Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
Just stop? Okay? How was Saving Private Ryan? It was
really violent? Yeah, it's a movie about a war. Yeah,
what hell you I think happens in a war?
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
I'd be more pissed if they dumbed it down to
the point where this they told the stuff didn't tell
us what happened? Ye, hey, hey, what what happened to
the boys there at the Battle of the Bulge? A
lot of them passed from dysentery, like, no, they were
in the middle of a European forest. Of course, there
was some that took mortar fire and everything else. I
just I've never understood it. Hey, you go to comedy show.
(01:10:17):
I was offended. Let's so that's a U problem, not
a him problem.
Speaker 6 (01:10:22):
That's like a realization that I had to have with
the next ones about mafia movies. And she was like, yeah,
I got really sad at the end. I go, of course,
it got sad. That's the mob. There's no happy endings.
Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
You either go to prison or you die, right, and
people that are in your way along the way get
get dead. There you go. Yeah, and a guy that
you thought was your buddy you crossed. He's not your buddy. Well,
it's like that was the weird thing about Tony Soprano too.
It's like everybody, oh, you know, he's so likable. I'm like,
he's really a bad guy that you should not like.
But Mafia movies, we do at times find ourselves rooting
(01:10:55):
for the bad gun. Yeah, we root for the bad guy.
The bad guy makes a living stealing for people and
killing people. It's just because hey, women and kids are
off limits. Well great thumbs up, Yeah exactly. But the
guy who walked across the street wrong and cheety, you
had a five bucks that you were stealing from him
because he had to take his buddy out of his
register and give eighty percent of it to you, and
you and you shot him in the back of the
(01:11:15):
head and beat him with with with a with a
sledgehammer or a shovel. Yeah, well in casino, Yeah, very
that happens in these guys, right. The best thing to
do is don't get in because you ain't ever getting out,
and don't go watch the movie if you don't like it.
Frank Vincent turning on him.
Speaker 6 (01:11:29):
That guy was always a snake, even when he was Phillyotarto,
he was always a snake.
Speaker 7 (01:11:35):
Love Mafia movie.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
He ends up getting Nickki Santoro and his brother that
look at him, he's still breathing. Yeah, I mean that
was bad man. What about that was harsh? Well, that
was a harsh watch. Wow, that one was. But you
know it's also too like with Carlo. You know, don't
lie to me, Carlo. It insults my intelligence. They're all gone,
Moe Green, Cuneo Astracci. I've always wondered too, why guys
(01:11:57):
would get into the vehicle with four the the the
the underbosses are there in Vegas. Oh yeah, sure it's
a different Vegas. But you took that turn down of
dirt road. Do you think they're going out there to party.
Speaker 6 (01:12:08):
With Well, I mean usually if there's somebody sitting behind
you and in the car, it's usually not.
Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
Good for you. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:12:13):
Well, you're just trying to WinCE it when it's coming.
You mean, yeah, no.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Doubt, where are you going? You're dizzy? Yeah, that was
trying to let the car warm. Got a better shotow
letting him drive.
Speaker 7 (01:12:22):
That part of casino was bad, dude, that was bad.
Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
Everybody got it? Yeah, boy did they ever? I mean,
you know you.
Speaker 6 (01:12:30):
Heard what the Kansas city boss said. He was why
take a chance? Yeah, right there in the courtroom, he's
just like, hey, the way I look at it, why
take a chance? And and somehow Ace was able. As
he's leaving Tony Romas old Tony Romas.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Great rib place. Yeah, I grew up eating Tony Romas
in California.
Speaker 6 (01:12:48):
Man, dude, was that was the place in the nineties
right there. You want to be seen, you went to
Tony Romas and you.
Speaker 7 (01:12:53):
Wanted good ribs back then. That's the place.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
That's it. So there you go, little little little uh mafia,
a little lesson. Don't go to comedy shows if you're
if you're easily offended, start at all somehow. Yeah, yeah,
it's Sean. We're not offended by the play, though. I'll
tell you Baltimore Ravens fans are offended by their team's play.
Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
Right discussA say whatever Baltimore sports leader is today. I'm
sure that probably it's it's it's not feeling good.
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
I'll tell you this, I love the way they played.
If you're a rookie wide receiver and you're going to
be a good player, just be careful about your mockery
a celebrations over a guy that building, because they will
play you again. They don't forget. Kind of like the
group we're just talking, but it's only on the field.
Celebrations are great, but when you're a rookie, they'd like
(01:13:37):
you to have like eight or ten years of experience
before you do it. Even then it bothers them. That
is one that maybe that that we'll come back and
they'll remember, well, here's hoping not yeah, exit exactly because
they don't. They don't need any retribution. They got enough
things to worry about it. And they played good football yesterday.
Yes they did. One guy in particular, he might have
a home.
Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
We'll discuss as we continue here on a Monday edition
in Shawn Salisbury show Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Dn M Auto Leasing. Guys, I'm heavy in now and
it's not renting. It is absolutely not renting. You know.
We talk about well, when you're looking for a vehicle,
what are you looking for? Well, one would be not
to take out a ninety you know, an eighty four
ninety six month loan from a bank like you're taking
(01:14:26):
out a mortgage. That's a good place to start. Another
good place to start as well, Well, I want to
keep my down payment. I don't want to spend all
that money down payt Well. DNM Leasing has those options
as well, and they've been in business almost fifty years
and have over fifty thousand happy clients on the roads.
So when you're talking about leasing, we think in the
(01:14:48):
you know, where's the option? Where am I winning?
Speaker 9 (01:14:51):
Well?
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
DNM leasing you're winning. Do you want to be tied
into something that after about a year and a half
you're ready to trade in anyway? Is that what you want?
Or when you buy a vehicle and you're saying, well,
I need something else, or this isn't working out, can't
make the payments, and then you're upside down? What about
DNM Audel leasing again with keeping your money in your
pocket and making sure that high payments aren't part of
(01:15:15):
the equation, because high payments will destroy you on a
monthly basis. But when you find somebody who delivers the
vehicle to your house and gets an uber home, now,
is that not customer service? We know that. But when
you're one of the foremost and award winning DNM Leasing
and been in business almost fifty years, I believe everybody
(01:15:35):
knows who withstood the test of time. And I'm so
grateful not only to be a part of that family,
but the vehicle that I am driving around now. And
I didn't realize how good these tahoes were until this
one was delivered. And it's the least vehicle. It's not rented,
and you're not in a ninety six month to your
bank loan where you're like, oh man, I'm in it
(01:15:57):
that long. Yeah, think about what banks are doing when
you're in at that long and how much money you
are actually losing. Why not go to an award winner. Why
not go to somebody who has been in business fifty years?
Leasing's not renting. What a great option. It's DNM auto Leasing,
dmauto leasing dot com, dmauto leasing dot com. How about
(01:16:19):
keeping more money in your wallet there?
Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
But the Sean Salisbury Show continued, We'll get into Jalen
Peatrie here in just a little bit because, I mean,
you know, mentioned it at the beginning of the show today, Sean.
I mean, it really does seem like that star position
for young Jalen Petrie. It is working out and working
out then some I mean, he's got the interception yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Didn't you have a fumble too? He had two interceptions
in the game, and then I was trying to remember
if he recovered any fumbles. He did not, So it
was just the two picks along with Kamari Lassiter picking
one off in the game.
Speaker 7 (01:16:54):
On the spot. Man, nice guy. I'll hit you.
Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
He did anything moving. He's a good football player and
he can cut too, so he's got it all. He's
got it all. They've they've designed a defense that seems
to put eleven dudes in their strengths for the most part,
and it's it's it's fun to watch. We knew they
were top five defense going in and they're not proving
us anything, but hell, we might have cheated him by
the time the seasons.
Speaker 7 (01:17:16):
As long as the offense.
Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
Doesn't keep them on the field and they continue to progress,
it'll be a fun watch. It's still an uphill battle.
But what are they now? Two and three sure looks
a lot better. That's far from insurmountable, that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:17:28):
Yeah, you win the turnover battle yes day three to
nothing with those two picks by Petrie and then also
the one by Lassiter also tied for third combined tackles yesterday,
and you know able to have those two passes defended
with the interceptions. So I mean, finding guys places to
play because safety seemed like at times it was a
little bit of a challenge for him. But you put
(01:17:50):
them in a little bit of this hybrid role where
it's hey, when they run, you go downhill and get them.
Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Every once in a specialty.
Speaker 6 (01:17:56):
Yeah, have you out there and coverage and the ball
skills are good enough that he can be able to
put some hands on some footballs and and be able
to haul them in.
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
For he's not a box safety per se, because he
can cover a lot of times you get a box safety.
You're putting him there because he's not. You don't want
to put him on some slot guy they can't cover.
But now you don't want to put Petrie on pukin
Nakua because you're you're that that's a that's a mismatch.
Speaker 7 (01:18:17):
Let alone.
Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
A good corner is a mismatch. So you he but
he's playing. They play to his strengths. And you've got
a good ballhawk and bullock in the back, you know
at the back end there and their corners are really
good and they're deep and getting better, and you can
you can do a lot of shutdown passing attacks when
you got guys on the back end and then pressure
with four sometimes you can you know, you blitz. But
(01:18:40):
when you can get pressure with four in your interiors
getting more physical, they're head in the right direction defensively
and to the point where if you're not game planning
properly for them, you're going to be in trouble. Well,
and you know Derek Stemley has been dealing with that
op leak and played a little bit yesterday. Didn't show
up much on the stat sheet, But I mean, Kamari
Laster is a guy that I mean, I remember the
night he got drafted. People are like, oh, look at
(01:19:01):
the lack of interceptions, and it hasn't been the issue
in the NFL. No, And well, here's what I don't
get when fans say that most guys, look at some
of your best corners on the planet, don't lead the
world in interceptions. Why because you don't go there. Now,
sometimes you're in the right place at the right time,
but a lot of times you're gonna lean towards staying
(01:19:22):
away from your best player. So now, if there throws
there that he keeps dropping the ball and laying it
on the ground, you say, just can't catch corner. I
treat corners like receivers when I tell him, I say,
you got to be able to catch like a receiver
because there's balls up there that are going to change
the whole thing around. So those numbers all is a guy,
a great player. Yeah, he was a really good player
in college too, and he's even getting better now. But
when you don't see interception stats, that should not be
(01:19:44):
a demeanor. I mean a down a downgrade unless you
watch tape and say, you know what, he had eight
other interceptions that he dropped that hit him in the hands. Now,
that would be bothersome.
Speaker 6 (01:19:53):
Oh, I mean, it's just like guy that played football
right over here at Lamar played for Texas. My guy,
Rod Babers famously said when he was on the other
side of Quinton Jammer, nobody catches the ball on my
side of the field, not even me.
Speaker 7 (01:20:05):
Right there, there you go, there, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
So and Jammer was pretty good too, really great college player,
and so I don't, I don't. You got to look
deeper into it. And sometimes when it got well, he
didn't lead the league in Saxson College. That's okay. There's
a reason sometimes those guys get double teamed and somebody
else does. If you're still high motor, I you got
to you got to see the forest of the trees
and look how they're getting to them. And right now,
(01:20:29):
who you're gonna challenge more Lasser Stingley, You're gonna challenge
last Yer a little more right now because he's he's
still rolling into it. But you're getting to a point
where you're gonna say, I don't want to I don't
want to go after either guy. That's the real thing.
When you got two of those cats on the perimeter
that are difficult to deal with. Now, you got to
work all the way around. But when the opportunity does
come yourself, you gotta catch it. And this team's doing
(01:20:49):
a hell of a job at doing that. And te
Tree with two more yesterday, no question about it. So
enjoyable Sunday for the Texans. John on the Northwest side
work in you want to join them someone three two
one two five seven ninety against seven one three two
one two five seven ninety. So we continue to talk
about a really enjoyable forty four ten at Texans win
yesterday in Baltimore. As we get into the eight o'clock
(01:21:11):
hour right here on Shawn Salisbury Show Sports Talk seven ninety, hebm.
Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
E Houston ATVZHD two Houston, the.
Speaker 11 (01:21:19):
Astross the Rockets, Rockets Basketball, your home for your home teams.
Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:21:28):
You make Houston Sports then number one precent on your
car radio and the new it improved iHeartRadio app three
never sounded so good.
Speaker 12 (01:21:40):
Saulsbury, ol Salisbury, Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:21:45):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Salisbury to usc Troves, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (01:21:52):
Dan, matthewscuse jesus, this is the Sewan Salisbury show, the
Jags and cheats for that one.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
So we'll be watching that close, especially with Texans here
on the bye week.
Speaker 6 (01:22:08):
And how about some of my Rockets preseason action tonight.
Huh huh, that time already, little rocket ball, So I'm
sure Matt Thomas when he comes into this room in
a couple of hours gonna have that crisp new Rockets
Polo on ready to go for the season. But six
thirty tonight preseason action against the Atlanta Hawks. So you
can listen to it all right here on Sports Talk
(01:22:30):
seven ninety seven, three two and two five seven ninety
number to get in. Let's get it fired up this
morning with John on the Northwest Side.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
Good morning, John, Hey John, Dan, listen here. Man.
Speaker 16 (01:22:42):
You know Lamar Man, I've been watching him a long time.
Speaker 17 (01:22:45):
When Lamar winging, Oh man, he happened around on the
field like the Rangers used to do the ash throws
in the nineties. But when he lose, he's got the
most miserable look on his face. And there's been a
time ode too when he didn't shake the quarter back
hand and he ran up in his dressing room. No,
(01:23:05):
I'm gonna tell you what Jay we know did yesterday.
I'm sure it wasn't his intent, but I took it
as payback because I ain't forgot two seasons ago when
Lamar ran thirty five Party yards and kept running and
scored that touchdown and ran up our tunnel, I never forgot.
Speaker 16 (01:23:22):
So I took it as payback yesterday.
Speaker 17 (01:23:25):
And when they've been beating nuss O thirty five and
Party some points, they didn't have any mercy for us
or I left it. I enjoyed it, man, I enjoyed
to beat down and I love Ray Lewis too. But
I tell you what, I'm still taking it as payback
we owe Jim Matt brother. It's all in fun anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
I don't have a problem with it. I just just
sometimes you're like, they keep scoring. You know that you
just admitted they kept score here, and they keep scoring there.
So just keep being a good player. And I tell
you what, I like his guts. I like his guts.
But you know, I'm sure Ray was looking at probably
Ray Price pretty good impersonation. But you know Rokwan Smith
gets a looks at that, they'll say, oh, man, Well,
(01:24:05):
and we're not in any danger of the Baltimore Ravens
meeting anybody in the playoffs, so you don't have to
worry about that either.
Speaker 6 (01:24:09):
Well, I mean, then there's a couple of things here
in play I mean you mentioned Rokwan Smith. I'm sure
probably he's not banged up. He might be pulling an
Aaron Donald on that Seahawks offensive lineman, remember that a
few years ago. Hey, that's weird. The game's over. Why
is Aaron Donald putting his helmet back? Oh that's why
he is? Okay, probably not a guy you want to know.
You want to be on the good side of him.
He looks like the Juggernaut when he's on the field,
(01:24:31):
and as soon as he puts his helmet back on,
he even looks even more like him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
For the x X men fans out there, But celebrations
are awesome. I love the energy. I just you just
you know, got to know where you're celebrating. That's okay.
Speaker 6 (01:24:46):
But for CJ and some of the guys, I mean,
I get it because it was his first NFL start
and then it ended his first season. These guys, and
I mean last year at Christmas, these guys, the playoffs
in twenty eleven, these guys, So, I mean, there's a
lot of history against Baltimore. That great comeback you had
on Monday Night and then Matt Shop throws a pick
(01:25:06):
six in two thousand, I think it was ten.
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Yeah, it was ten. That happened points last year in
the in the in the playoffs. Was it thirty one
to two or something? Was it? Are you talking about
Christmas Day? Yeah? It was. It was to Christmas Day?
And I got plassed, right, it was the last Cheers
guy the playoffs last year, Right, that's exactly right. It
was it thirty to two, thirty one to two thirty three.
It was a blood leg. Yeah, So it was quite
(01:25:30):
macabre in the way that they you know, when when
you haven't beat somebody, period, and in their building it
was it was an impressive victory. So I don't have
a problem with celebration. Alls I'm saying it is just
remember where he celebrated. Be prepared, because that's the NFL
keeps scoring. Some guys keep a longer page of it.
That's all.
Speaker 6 (01:25:48):
Although Arian Foster could probably run interference there because Arian
and Ray were really really close. So if Arian wants,
you know, step in and say, hey, right, right, right,
come on, yeah, you guy may not be Ray have
to worry about. Right, Maybe the dudes are incurrent uniform,
but right, hey, it's good. I like Gamesman shipping in truth.
It is all in fun if you take it that serious.
But I have been around players that do take it
(01:26:11):
that serious. So those guys trust me, I would know
there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
So but hey, big wins, celebrations galore, and they earned
it with a complete beatdown of the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.
I didn't expect it to be that big a beatdown,
and they put it on him and did not back
off for four quarters, no.
Speaker 6 (01:26:28):
Doubt about it. Someone three two and two five seven
ninety keep it going. Biscuit wants to get in. Biscuit,
good morning.
Speaker 15 (01:26:34):
Hey, top of the morning, my brothers.
Speaker 16 (01:26:36):
What's up Sean?
Speaker 15 (01:26:39):
Now we see while Lamar is the MVP, it's a
whole different ball game.
Speaker 16 (01:26:47):
Man, it's a whole different ball game. Let me let
me say it is man. P three and none are
both guys into the involvement, and they bring it coming
up with Petrie's dad over here. One thing about Petrie, Shine,
he's smart, and he's a hard worker. And you're gonna
(01:27:07):
you know, you're talking about the best of the best
when you're talking about Petrie. Man, This dude is when
I say a good kid, that's not even doing it
a good certains, you know, and so he's gonna be,
you know, his main thing shine. And I think looking
at Dak Prescott too, I'm thinking of this, it's health, man.
It's one Sean, you know how he is shine when
you're playing nicked up or he got something because Petrie
(01:27:29):
they had some issue with his shoulder or whatever previous
years or whatever. It's something about when you're healthy and
you just can play freely and they ain't afraid, you know,
I think, and back is the same way you get
the best out of him. And and I think that's
what's happening with Petrie and the and the defense in general.
They're healthy and they playing the way to me go
(01:27:52):
on and to play and and Dan, you can check
it out. I think they're on pace to set a
record defensive wise of Lion points were gay through five games.
I think it's like the top one at top two
and least points allowed.
Speaker 8 (01:28:07):
So it's the offense can just.
Speaker 16 (01:28:09):
Send do a little bit. They gonna man a good team, Sean.
I can see him running off and.
Speaker 1 (01:28:14):
Rate and the roll as long as the offense stays
it because the defense will be in position to run
off seven or eight in row. Hell, they're really good.
And this get real quick. You and I talked about
Petriots rookie year and and what we saw in him,
and I love the guy, then love him now, and
he's just getting better. I there's a reason he's he's
smart high football IQ as blatant disregard for his body,
(01:28:35):
and I mean that is positive. A lot of those
players do. If you're going to hit anything that's there.
And he's doing a good job, and he's and he's
more he's got as he gets older and more veteran.
He's got that controlled aggressiveness that you need as a
defensive player because it's one thing to go all out
but miss what you hit. But he's really doing a
good job of being smart since his rookiear and getting better.
I I think he's a special player. I've always felt
(01:28:57):
that he was a Pro Bowl type player, and I
think you're going to see more of.
Speaker 7 (01:29:00):
That with him.
Speaker 15 (01:29:01):
I think that's some of the conversations we've had, me
and his dad, head or whatever it's, you know, because
you know, you kind of he's kind of a smaller guy.
Speaker 16 (01:29:08):
Hey man. You just take him flying up in there,
going hitting these Derrick Henry's and uh, you know tailors
from Indianapolis. You got to be a little smarter about how,
you you know, approach him and use your body, no doubt.
I think that's what he's at.
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Definite great stuff. And yes, you're right when you talk
about guys. When you're healthy, Biscuit, thanks for the call.
When you're healthy and you can play freer, it doesn't
matter whether it's him or whether it's anybody, and you're
not worried about that part of it, and you really
get to let it rip. It's a fun thing to see.
And I'm so impressed with the way that the Texans
(01:29:40):
played defense. But this is no shock to us. As
a matter of fact, they're even better, I think than
we thought they were going to be going in. They
keep tackling. Well, look out, tim, what's going on?
Speaker 8 (01:29:48):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:29:48):
Welcome in, I'll punch him. Good morning morning.
Speaker 18 (01:29:55):
Yeah, sorry about that, man, I didn't know if you
guys could hear me. And now listen, it's always a
place you speak to Sean especially, want to get a
chance I ask you what I want to ask you
today about quarterback play. And prior to that though, I
got to I got to speak real quick. I know
Texans are kind of ruling to talk this morning, but
I just hoped that as a fan base, we don't
all of a sudden things we're back. Look, defense is stout.
I know it's stout, but I still worry that the offense.
(01:30:17):
We played two mediocre teams, well, as a matter of fact,
one mediocre team and one horrible team yesterday. So you know,
let's not put the cart before the horse here on
the Texans man, That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
Just slow your roll.
Speaker 10 (01:30:28):
And let's just be cautus. You know.
Speaker 1 (01:30:30):
Yeah, we've seen enough body of work with the defense
to tell you that they're real. We got to see
more of the play caller that it's the offense that
put it this way. There's potential there getting the young
guys involved, but we got to see a bigger body
of work offensively with all this new stuff before you
start crowning them champions, no doubt.
Speaker 18 (01:30:48):
I'm glad to hear you said that. But listen, I
got a question for you. You've been there, done that
on the TV play at multiple levels, and I wanted
to ask you about mediocre maning out there in Austin. Man. Now, listen,
I love the Horns. Both of my kids went through system.
But as a QB, we heard all preseason, you know
he's going to be one and done at Texas, He's
going to be the number one overall draft. And then
(01:31:09):
we heard the flip side of that, which is from
the mating camps. Not bother me. It doesn't affect me.
I can handle the pressure.
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 18 (01:31:17):
What are your thoughts, man, Because it's looking really really
close to a dumpster fire out there at the forty
acres and I wanted to get your take on it
as someone who's been there, done that. What do you
think's up with many man?
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Yeah? I appreciate it, Tim. I'll answer your message here
real quick. Number one is I got to put my
affinity for the Manning family aside, because you know, I
love him. I do all of them, and I've been
good friends, and his dad and I are friends, and
I do. I got to see him during this offseason.
We had a good conversation, did Cooper and I Kappa
(01:31:50):
as they like to call it, right. Yeah, So it's
always hard. But if we're doing our job right, you
compliment your criticize. First off, Arch Manning is nowhere near
being ready to play on Sunday. He's having enough trouble
being ready to play on Saturday. Now, what you're going
to see is a lot of people being and I
don't know anybody that I've ever since my time. I
remember when I was coming out, Elway two years ahead
(01:32:11):
of me, the hype around John Elway and Andrew Luck
had it. But we've never had a guy expectations placed
on a guy that walked out of high school. I mean,
we've seen guys expectations, but even as good as Elway
was when he went to Stanford, he didn't have that.
If John Granada Hill's everything, but he's still it wasn't Manny.
Once the season started, you know they're playing this guy's
(01:32:34):
had had it placed on for obvious reasons Grandpa, uncle, uncle,
It's just listen. Even if he played really good, people
would say it's not good enough because they want him
to be Peyton, They wanted to be Eli. It's unfair.
Yet the hype machine that's part what part and parcel
that goes this. I think the failure is affecting him.
(01:32:54):
I think the struggles are affecting him all right. You
can just see it. The labor he's got to carry
around these late bring there's no doubt he is. He
is inconsistent mechanically, which is shocking because of the of
the family, which tells you and he's going to be
David Cutcliffe believes in him. If Cutcliffe likes you, at
some point, Dome, I think you're going to be a player.
(01:33:15):
But you can't sugarcoat it. Arch Manning right now is
just a guy. Now when you see some of the
throws he makes that are like, okay, that's why he's
the guy. But there's an inconsistency with simple stuff and
mechanically that right now he can't sustain throughout the four quarters. Now.
I don't know many guys that can overcome all those
lost and get your brains being We say it about C. J.
Stroud here, look getting hit. He is getting hit. Part
(01:33:37):
of it's on him, part of it's on the offensive line.
So if we're being honest, all the stuff that goes on,
arch Manning's not ready. There is no way right now
that guy can go play on Sundays. He can't. Now
he could, but you'd only take him in the first
couple rounds with the performance because of his name right now,
(01:33:57):
and you see potential, but he hasn't taken the expectations
and not only not lived up to him right now
the offense. If there's a lot of reasons and he's
part of a part of the problem, that doesn't mean
the key problem can't get fixed. He's coached. And here's
another thing, he's coached by one of the great play
callers on the planet, and he's still struggling.
Speaker 7 (01:34:17):
So it's not just him.
Speaker 1 (01:34:18):
When you play eleven men, I'm just telling you off
and I'm not making an excuse for him. Offensive line
can be a problem. What happens, just like we saw
with Straut, you start to speed things up in your
mind and you start seeing ghosts and it affects your play.
But you can see the difference in Laays know Lagways
struggle with injuries. Right now, who was a better player
on Saturday? You saw that it was no brainer. So
(01:34:38):
right now, if they were drafting both for the NFL,
it would even be closer. You'd take first. Now with that,
do I believe that they can get this fixed at
some point in time? I don't know about this year,
but yes, he needs another year of starting college football.
They are not a playoff team the way they're playing now.
Defense can be, but they got moved around a little bit.
They got controlled the line of scrimmage too, because Florida
ran the football well as well. So Tim, I love
(01:35:00):
the Mannings and I love Arch, but I would lose
credibility if I stood up here and just said he's
a really good player right now because I'm a friend
of the families, or I love the family and they've
been good to me, and I love the way Peyton played,
eli I can't. He is a very average player right
now that has potential to make some great throws, but
also as a potential where mechanically you're saying, dude, where
are you throwing that? And miss stuff that you're like
(01:35:22):
like a dig route that goes six feet over the
guy's head. So and you can see he's laboring right now.
There's a lot that needs to be fixed. So the
bottom line is it's not just the other guys that
are the reason. Arch Manning is part of the problem.
But it's much tougher when your offensive line can't block
me and you and they're they're they're very average offense
at best right now, and he is playing average football
(01:35:45):
quite frankly at times, at best right now against good competition.
There's a lot that needs to be done. He ain't
ready for Sundays. We crowned that way too soon because
of his name, not because of his performance. And then
somebody else pointed out that he continued the Manning family
tradition of folding in the swamp as the swamp was
never kind to Uncle Peyton either. I don't know about
Eli Florida put it on him. Man Florida got a
(01:36:06):
three phases they can. Like I said, he made some
good throws, but you can see there's there's nothing smooth
about his game right now. Everything's rigid. And when I
see that, and then you see him on the side.
You can tell he's laboring. So do I trust they
can get it fixed? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:36:21):
Do I trust they get it fixed overnight?
Speaker 1 (01:36:23):
No, mechanical problems aren't getting fixed overnight, and they're usually
not getting fixed during the season. That's an off season.
Speaker 6 (01:36:29):
You're gonna see him working with David Kutkliff for somebody
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:36:32):
You're gonna see the videos. It's we we all know
how this goes. But we can.
Speaker 6 (01:36:35):
Continue the Texans conversation also too. I mean, I know
some Longhorn fans want to get in, so feel free.
Seven one three two one two five, seven ninety. In addition,
it was the story of the weekend, and it wasn't
for a reason that I think this guy wanted it
to get out.
Speaker 1 (01:36:50):
We'll discuss right here.
Speaker 6 (01:36:52):
Sean Salisbury show Sports Talk seven ninety, we gotta hit
you with. Today is Kruger Minute, and it's brought to.
Speaker 1 (01:36:57):
You by Wrangler.
Speaker 6 (01:36:58):
And it was a rough on Saturday inside TDECU Stadium
for the Kougs has Texas Tech splits down with a
thirty five eleven win and hands Willie Fritz his first
loss of the season. Fritz after the game, calling it
a quote poor performance, end quote, and that was fueled
by quarterback Connor Wegman leaving in the second quarter with
(01:37:19):
an upper body injury, and he did not return to action. Cougar's, though,
don't have much time to stew on the loss, as
they're gonna have a quick turnaround this week on the
road against Oklahoma State. They're gonna kick that one off
Saturday morning at eleven in Stillwater, and you can listen
to the game over on a KPRC nine fifty. That's
today's Kruger Minute, brought to you by Wrangler.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
We're gonna have to turn this matter over to Sean.
Speaker 4 (01:37:44):
Oh no more, Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (01:37:50):
We want to get in on the Texans, like our
guy Adrian wants to wigh and youo Adrian, Good morning.
Speaker 8 (01:37:57):
Lauren Brellas, Moyan, moryn Aggie.
Speaker 16 (01:38:02):
I hear you, Aggie, Doug.
Speaker 8 (01:38:04):
That's all I can say, is I hear you.
Speaker 14 (01:38:06):
Mister Manning. Starting to think you adopted bro. All this
preseason height, all.
Speaker 15 (01:38:13):
This number one and tax us his back, Heve Paul
fine baumb Pick your head up, sir, It'll be all right,
Just pick your head up.
Speaker 8 (01:38:21):
You should have did your homework before you open your mouth.
And now on to the show.
Speaker 14 (01:38:27):
Now, these rookies, I don't understand what's going on, but
I love it.
Speaker 8 (01:38:34):
Putch mister X himself. That's how you get down baby.
You come out your.
Speaker 14 (01:38:39):
Bus two and you tell them once is nice, but
let's go twice.
Speaker 8 (01:38:44):
Mister Marx, we found your spot.
Speaker 16 (01:38:47):
You're good for downhill and cutting Chubb.
Speaker 8 (01:38:51):
We know you can steal run the chub baby, and.
Speaker 14 (01:38:56):
All this well, they played the Raymond, they played a
depleted team. What would have been said this morning if
they would have lost to that depleted team.
Speaker 8 (01:39:07):
So I'm trying to steal my big three Monday, Fellas,
My big three is good. My mobile pharmacy has me moving.
So he had a long day because he a Broncos fan.
Speaker 16 (01:39:17):
He got just a little bit too drunk last night.
Speaker 8 (01:39:20):
So other than that, it's a good Monday. Be good
way to fellas.
Speaker 6 (01:39:24):
Appreciate Adrian. I mean, look, it was a nice Sunday
for the Broncos too. We were talking about the Patriots earlier,
going on the road Philadelphia, picking up a nice little
win there that made me some coin there I had
Denver and and by the way, speaking of Denver, you
get them too. I regret to inform you.
Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
Well, that defense when they're going good, looks a lot
like this defense. I mean, they're they're pretty freaking good.
Speaker 19 (01:39:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:39:46):
They got some good offensive production yesterday and you know,
getting down and getting back after it. And the question
you're gonna have about Philly is if you get into
where they can take away certain you know, if they
they take away certain parts of the offense, you're going
to get people that have asked the question, can Jalen
Hurts get into a shootout at some point along and
beat you? Well, we've seen it in the Super Bowl
(01:40:08):
where he did it. We talked last week. There's and
he just wins man the guy that went. You just
ran into a team that Sean Payton called a good game,
and they made enough plays and put yourself in position
to hang in there, and they went and played. Anybody
that thought that was going to be a blowout in
Philadelphia is wrong. Sean Payton knows how to coach and
bow Knicks can play. He's still you know, he's still
(01:40:30):
trying to sharpen his tools as well. But you knew
that was going to be a bit of a fistfight.
And Philadelphia is going to be fine. I'd love Jalen
Hurts poise, but you know their key is when they
keep that game close, they normally win him. They ran
into a team that took care of their business in
a game that was close all the way through.
Speaker 6 (01:40:47):
And back to the Texans to us talking about this
defense this morning. Through five games there were a whole
nine points better than they were defensively last year, the
average giving up twenty one point four points per game
last year through five this year, twelve point two and
nine in the last three games that the Texans have played.
And what problem is, they're two and one in those games.
(01:41:09):
So the one against Jacksonville was the one that right
now is probably of the first two weeks losses because
Tampa hurts. I mean all of them hurt because you
were right there and it's like, if you just get
just a little bit offensively out of you, just a
little bit, one of those fair barren Field goals is
a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:41:27):
I mean, then we're talking about a three and two
team right now. Right well, if you can convert in
the red zone late in the game in a couple
of where, even though it was ugly, you're looking at
are you're looking at a completely different record. So this
is who they're supposed to look like. I don't care
who they did it against. I'm I'm with Adrian as well. Now,
(01:41:49):
obviously the test would have been more difficult if you
had the full arsenal, but we can say that about
the Apsles. The test would have been difficult if they'd
had their full different if they had their full arsenal.
They didn't, but we're not just them on the full arsenal.
They didn't make the playoffs, and it'll be the same
with Baltimore. But the offense I didn't I thought was
a long ways away three weeks ago, and they were.
(01:42:11):
They got better in the fourth quarter, but you think, okay, Tennessee.
But it was the conceit. I don't care who they
did it against. It was the consistency and play calling,
and the aggressiveness was calculated aggressiveness and smart play. See
and see how simple the plays were. Hitting the ball
the flat, getting it getting it out, now letting a
guy go and Dalton Schultz. Now this is who. This
is who the tid end position is supposed to be.
(01:42:33):
Do you see how much they featured the position, not
just Schultz yesterday. It's such a great crutch to lean
on for a quarterback. Usually it's closer to the line
of scrim as they're operating, and you know they're physical
enough to bang off people in man and and and
operate and zone. That looked like they went in with
a plan and executed it damn near to perfection yesterday.
(01:42:54):
Like I said, the ball did not hit the ground
and it was It was really really good to see
and that it's going to be the expansion young guys
contributing offensively, young rookie wide receivers and the tight end
continuing to elevate the position. And I'm going to tell
you right now what he marks hate fake buddy the guy.
(01:43:14):
You've got to continue to expand his game on the perimeter.
Speaker 7 (01:43:18):
You just have to.
Speaker 1 (01:43:19):
Ten different guys were targeted yesterday, eight of them catching
at least one ball in the game yesterday. And that
doesn't just help in this one. Seattle's going to look
at the tape and say, Okay, they're increasing their bandwidth
as well. They're starting to get to and and you're
not gonna hang forty on their defense. You're just not.
So if you're in one of those, you got to
protect the ball and you start to tighten up a
(01:43:41):
little bit. Right now, the Texans know the Texans. I
hate saying this because I don't want it to happen,
but they're good enough right now to turn the ball
over and their defense still to get a stop and
go play, which should make you play even more freer offensively.
When you know you have that that, you know that
bouncer behind you that can clear out the room. That's
who the Texans defense is. And when you got that,
(01:44:02):
your offense should play freer. It looked yesterday and going
in you had to feel like men, they're not really
capable of hanging that many points. So you're gonna call
plays freer. You're going to execute with a clearer mind
and no clutter. Now, when you play good teams like
Seattle and moving forth, you have to approach it the
same way. My defense is going to be good enough
to bail us out if we need to, So don't
(01:44:24):
play scared. And yesterday they didn't play scared because you
know what I think, deep down, they knew Baltimore couldn't
score much on them. They knew Baltimore without Lamar Jackson
and limited and they were going to do one thing yesterday.
We are the twenty two's not beating us. As we
said going last week, don't let your best player. If
Derek Henry would have rushed for one sixty, we said
it last week coming out of this, shame on you.
(01:44:45):
He didn't rush for squat And you know what, nobody
else on that team offensively was capable of beating that defense.
You should always call plays more open and bandwidth and
all that when you know that your defense can bail
you out of trouble even if you make a mistake.
And when you play knowing that if you make a
mistake you still got a chance, you'll probably end up
making fewer mistakes because you're playing free and easy. Yesterday
(01:45:08):
looked like spring practice to them, you know, like in college,
you know, when you're dominating the twos. That's what it
looked like. Get in, get out now, cheer on the
other fellows, and let's go. That's what that team looked
like yesterday. Now build on it. And confidence is an
amazing thing, and the coordinator should have a lot of
it coming out of that game. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:45:25):
CJ only stacked twice yesterday, so it's a good day
if he's able to put the ear piece in. And
he was able to do that, all right, it was
not a good weekend for not only this guy, but
also for someone else. We'll discuss that here as we
continue along on a Monday edition Sean Salisbury Show Sports
Talk seven to ninety and.
Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
The Seawan Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 7 (01:45:48):
The Yankees are so overmatched in this right now.
Speaker 1 (01:45:51):
Twelve nothing at one point, twelve to nothing.
Speaker 7 (01:45:54):
They've been hammered in both games.
Speaker 6 (01:45:56):
I thought Maxwell Freed was like supposed to be mister
playoff stopper.
Speaker 1 (01:46:00):
It is they are.
Speaker 6 (01:46:02):
He was last week against your socks and then a
couple of years ago against the Astros.
Speaker 1 (01:46:06):
But you think Toronto's you think Toronto's got a little
golden mind, right, that's all this, This series is done.
I think Schlitler is going to go tomorrow though, well,
well if now it'll extend a game if he pitches
like he did against the Red Sox, but that's hard
to do. He looked like Garrett Cole. I mean they
are they are Rake and varshow and they're getting after it.
Speaker 16 (01:46:26):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:46:26):
It's a pretty impressive watch, but it's it's headshaking to
how bad they're getting their ass handed to them, and
was not good.
Speaker 6 (01:46:33):
I mean, they put together a nice, little decent effort
to try to get back into it.
Speaker 1 (01:46:38):
But at that point in time, you would have needed
eighteen in the way they were playing it wasn't wasn't
good enough.
Speaker 6 (01:46:45):
What was also not good over the weekend is the
report in two parts Mark Sanchez. So we get the
initial report man was stabbed in Indianapolis, and you're like,
oh my god, how what happened? Well, that's where you
get the initial is. People are now after Adam Schefter
for initially reporting that he was stabbed during a robbery
(01:47:07):
early Saturday morning, to which he has since taken down.
Speaker 7 (01:47:11):
But I think he is he going to stand up
and be counted for it.
Speaker 6 (01:47:15):
I think he has to, like you have to say,
I ran on bad information and it's my job to
be accurate.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
So that's on. Well, when you're an eight to ten
million dollars insider, and he's very good at his job.
Here's my biggest problem with this. We are in such
a hurry for those guys to want to be first
that you don't get it right. And when it comes
to stabbing or that kind of stuff. I would suggest
you that being first isn't the most important thing, but
getting it right is. Because, now, for a guy who's
so good at his job, and you know that in
(01:47:46):
that world, just check once, check twice, check with three
sources to make sure, especially when it comes to that
type of journalism and investigative journalism and the stuff you're
trying to cover. You can't just all I got it first,
because you need the credit to tea because well, you
got it first. Now guess what's the credit you guess?
Guess what you're credited with being a little bit too
over zealous with this, and he is so good at
(01:48:07):
what he does, people are going to make mistakes, but
he's just got to be careful. That's one of my
biggest problems in society now. Everybody wants to be first,
and getting it right doesn't seem to be the thing
with him. He's ninety eight percent of time he's right,
But on something like this, those are the ones you'd hey, listen,
I'd rather have him be wrong on a player trade
than I would on a stabbing in a robbery. And
as it turned out, Sanchez cost this. Apparently somebody's gonna
(01:48:31):
get to this truck driver.
Speaker 6 (01:48:32):
There's gonna be an attorney out there that gets to
him and says, hey, you could probably look into going
after that guy legally, both of them. So, I mean
that's another like I think ESPN is going to make
him because that's one of those that you want to
try to head this thing off the pass where it's like, brother,
this wasn't a robbery.
Speaker 1 (01:48:52):
I was defending myself.
Speaker 6 (01:48:53):
And that's at least the way that the Marion County
Prosecutor's office there in Indianapolis, that's the way that they
saw because Sanchez got arrested and booked for battery resulting
in injury, public intoxication, and unlawful injury of a motor vehicle.
Speaker 1 (01:49:12):
Well, two things that seemed did the baffle me. You're
on a you're on you're getting ready to broadcast the game.
This was on Friday night, correct or was it Saturday? Saturday?
So like late overnight, yeah, Saturday, Okay, Well you got
a job to do. Win the very next day. You're right,
you're you're you're getting prepared to go broadcast a game.
Work clink right, You're you're on the word. You're on them,
(01:49:35):
and we're all, oh my gosh, man, I hope Mark's okay,
and you do hope he's okay regardless who did it.
But here's a sixth I So one thing is are
you for for being for uh having a little I
would imagine didn't they say he was slurring? Or said
did I did? I read that as well from somebody
public in toxicxication? So I mean, so what they said?
(01:49:55):
So I don't know what the the the actual amount
of alcohol he had, but that never ends well and
once after midnight and I just and you're on a job.
One two is who goes to fight a sixty nine
year old? That's he's there, but he's thirty years younger
older than you. And once again, man, I'm getting it's
crushed me this morning. You've got to criticize arch Manning
(01:50:16):
because he's played his best football and now another Trojan
gets himself in trouble. The bottom line is Mark Sanchez
has got to know better and it could have ended
over that in somebody dying. It really could have sixty
nine years Come on, man, stop, we would what would
make you get to that point? Well?
Speaker 7 (01:50:36):
Probably being intoxicated.
Speaker 1 (01:50:38):
Right, A lot of bad decisions and we've all made
stupid decisions in our life. But taking a knife to
the what the chest? Is that what they said two
or three times. Yeah, he's lucky, he's lucky it didn't
hit the wrong artery or the wrong spot. I just
don't get it. I just don't get it at some
point in time where you say, you know what, I
think best to walk from this. And if he was
by himself with nobody wroung with to by, what are
(01:51:00):
you doing now? What are you doing? Said early reporting?
Like I said, we're always seemed like we want to
protect the celebrity first. Let's let's protect who's supposed to
be protected first, the innocent side of it. And it's
just it's a bad look for Mark. And I can
assure you when he woke up the next day right now,
he's not feeling real good about what the future may hold.
(01:51:23):
And when foxes is it Fox, it's Fox, Fox, his decision.
What's what they're gonna a decision they're gonna make. Now
you've got to get into the apologizing world and and
you made stupid mistakes or you're going to battle it.
But come on, man, what thirty some year old is
going to battle a sixty nine year old after midnight
outside bar or wherever they were.
Speaker 7 (01:51:42):
It just it makes no sense to me.
Speaker 1 (01:51:44):
At some point you got to grow up and what
the reporting wasn't real good on this and Mark Sanchez
made a decision that's going to have a long time
effect on his career, long term, no doubt about.
Speaker 6 (01:51:55):
It's some other odd details too that we can share
with you as we close out the o'clock hour here
on a Monday edition of The Shawn Salisbury Show, Sports
Talk seven to ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:52:06):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (01:52:11):
The age difference between Sanchez, which it's funny to your
your buddy over at the Dan Patrick Show. They put
out a poll and it had four choices of who
had a worst weekend? Amar Demarcado, the Yankees, James Franklin,
and then they misspelled Longhorns but the Texas Longhorns.
Speaker 1 (01:52:31):
They accidentally wrote it as Texas lorn Horns. But worst
week name.
Speaker 6 (01:52:36):
Again, you had a choice between Amri Demrcado.
Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
Yeah first, or the coach who Yeah it was Gannon,
right nothing Gannon, Yeah, that wasn't that was a bad look.
But de Marcado what happened cost him a game and
literally cast them again when you're watching it and you're
watching you like going through and watching it like, oh,
of course Arizona was winning this one, and good good
on Tennessee to keep battling. Dude, they good on them
(01:53:03):
because they they literally stole a victory.
Speaker 6 (01:53:05):
Yes, hey, if if they weren't, you know, if they're
still keeping it a buck they weren't asked.
Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
Yeah they weren't. Well they walk out, I'll guarantee to
celebrate that locker room was because it would have been
easy after you've been getting beat down every week to
like like, I don't know if we can go through
this again. Well, the poor guy, I feel bad for him,
but you just can't do it because it did cost
them a football game.
Speaker 6 (01:53:26):
I almost feel like that somebody in that locker room
in Tennessee has to start the chant.
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
We're not asked, Yeah we're not. I would make for
a lot of good laughs. Yeah maybe maybe maybe it.
Cam wardould be the one that started, but just uh,
because I was wised you're going through so that one's over.
Arizona's obviously waiting and dude for that to happen. They
were at the time. Yep, And who are the other
two choices.
Speaker 6 (01:53:49):
Yeah, the Sanchez James Franklin, who there was some audio
I was gonna play fro him a few weeks ago,
and I thought about tweeting this out, but I didn't
think anybody would get the context of it. He had
talked about how his postgame, his postgame routine is to
go down into his basement and the way he termed
it sitting in his boxers in a T shirt, which
(01:54:10):
is just like, that's weird, man, and saying that other
people can join if they want to. It's like, dude,
just just say I throw on some athletic shorts and
a T shirt.
Speaker 7 (01:54:19):
I just say, I'm down in my basement. We don't
need to your dressing go.
Speaker 1 (01:54:21):
Yes, being it's kind of an awkward you think, yeah,
just a little. Well, I'm gonna put Sanchez at the
top of the list because when you get stabbed, that's
a bad weekend. Okay, it's a little more important. It's
your stabbed, right, So that's one too, James Franklin, because
you just got curb stomped.
Speaker 7 (01:54:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
And I know they came back and U c l
a staved them off and good on them. But you're
supposed to be a national title contender. Not only are
you're not winning big games, you're you're losing games you're
supposed to win by fifty. And by the way, you
still got to believe they still have Michigan in Ohio State. Well,
guess what, they're not beating Ohio State, so I can
tell you that. And I have trouble beating Michigan too.
But regardless, they bad weekend and I almost feel worse
(01:55:03):
for the kid to play at the foot Marcott. I do,
because you know what things happen. I mean, you can't
do you can you can't make those mistakes. I get it,
but he did. But there's no doubt. See, it's got
to be Franklin, because I know you lost to a
bad Tennessee team if you're Arizona, but it's got to
be Franklin. Second, and Sanchez versus a knife. You go
(01:55:25):
on the road and get beaten the roads, I mean
hammered by them and unfortunate circumstances. Put it this way,
one's feeling miserable this morning because it was a football game,
air that he costs his team of victory, and you
hope they hopefully he'll make a big play at some
point to the other you're about playing your way out
of a national championship opportunity, and they're they're not that
(01:55:45):
good as far as national target. And the other one
you're saying and thinking, I'm not only I'm going to
have three or four scars on me, and it could
have been I could have been a far worse, let
alone dead. And then I'm going to get dogs for
going after a sixty nine year old when I am
healthy and I may be doing it without a coat
and tie on and a job to broadcast. You can't
put him back on TV. That's Brady Quinn's job. Now, Sorry,
(01:56:06):
I mean, I just so I'm gonna go. Sanchez should
win that one because a knife was plunged to him
and it was his.
Speaker 6 (01:56:12):
Fault, and that's what The first response to that tweet
was notable omission Mark Sanchez because Marion County Prosecutor Ryan
Meers had a statement out on Sunday that said what
began as a disagreement between a thirty eight year old
former professional athlete and a sixty nine year old man
should not have been escalated into violence or anyone seriously injured.
(01:56:35):
As with any case, we will follow the facts in
the law wherever they lead. According to the probable cause
appidavit that was obtained by CBS News, Sanchez and the
sixty nine year old man began fighting over a parking
situation which you're drunk. Why are you getting involved in
a parking situation? You're hammered like no.
Speaker 1 (01:56:55):
Yes, stop like no yes, which began into which turned
into an argument and then turned violent. Sanchez was stabbed
in the upper torso around twelve am Saturday in Detroit
downtown Indianapolis, near a pub in eatery before he was
transported to the hospital in critical condition. The incident escalated
(01:57:16):
near a loading dock, where the sixty nine year old,
identified as a truck driver said he believed he was
in danger.
Speaker 6 (01:57:23):
Oh and by the way too, not only did he
get stabbed Sanchez, that is, he got pepper sprayed by
the guy.
Speaker 7 (01:57:29):
Yeah, not a good night for him.
Speaker 1 (01:57:31):
And I can just assure you you know how when
all this stuff settles, you're like, not only sore and hurting,
you're probably thinking your lucky stars the knife thatch in
the spot that you are alive, but also that you're like, oh,
now I gotta go face what I'm about to face.
Yeah tomorrow morning. Yeah, yeah, not good. OK, he's going
to be there.
Speaker 6 (01:57:49):
Sanchez allegedly still advanced towards the man that the guy
thought that quote, this guy is trying to kill me.
That's when he pulled the knife out, stabbed him two
or three times. The driver and then allegedly said he
was thrown against a dumpster and believe this was a
life or death situation. So he says a look of
shock came over Sanchez before Sanchez took off.
Speaker 7 (01:58:10):
I don't know how you can.
Speaker 1 (01:58:12):
I don't know how if you're Sanchez, well, yeah, I
think a look of shock you've been stabbed probably a
wise idea to take off. Yeah, I would think if
you're that guy too, you have a right to defend yourself.
I do, so, you know, I don't know where we
think that. I don't know if celebrity thinks that you
can take liberties and stuff, you can't. And if I'm
the sixty nine year old man noose situations, I'm I
(01:58:34):
would have protected myself as well. You just hate to
see it, you know, go through that. But you know
what he rob Peter, you pay Paul meant and now
you got to suffer the consequences of a stupid decision
that all started with booze, stupid games, stupid prizes, tales
at this time, what do they say f around a
fine out and all those guys. And you know, if
you're a trucker, you got to carry aund those stuff.
(01:58:54):
You do't want to put the steal in from you. I mean,
no protecting yourself. I get it if you easily get.
Speaker 6 (01:58:58):
It, which somehow my I out rhythm on social media
has gotten two truckers, and one of them is like
a guy like has to put like seat belts through
like doors and everything like that where he's like, no,
people will break into your cap.
Speaker 1 (01:59:10):
They don't. When it comes to that, they will, and
they know what the load is if you're if they're
a professional, yeah, because I know somebody pretty close. It's
in the cargo theft business. And you would be amazed
at what they do in certain parts of the world.
And they like in the movies pull up Somebody. They
got people stopping on the side of the road to
get you before you know what, they're taking you dry.
(01:59:32):
And even on those trains. Now you realize now people
are trying to get the top. They pay for the
top part of a train for their cargo because the
lower ones easier to get to, right, So, I mean,
you know what I'm saying. So I mean, I'm telling
you this cargo business, dude is nuts. That's where you
can and I get why those guys they should protect themselves,
probably with more than a knife.
Speaker 7 (01:59:51):
Be honest with you.
Speaker 6 (01:59:52):
That's where, if you're lucky, you run into Jimmy Conway
de Nero's character. You may not know who we are,
but we know who you are. Then he puts a
C note in the guy's wallet, hands him back his wallet.
Speaker 1 (02:00:02):
They know exactly who you are and what you're what
you're carrying, and how much of that.
Speaker 7 (02:00:07):
Yeah, nuts, man, nuts, I always.
Speaker 1 (02:00:09):
Love that know who we are, but we know who
you are. Be grateful.
Speaker 7 (02:00:13):
In the Sanchez saying that neither one of them did it.
Speaker 1 (02:00:17):
Ended up worse.
Speaker 7 (02:00:17):
Yeah, stabs tough enough.
Speaker 1 (02:00:19):
It's the lost job is pretty much the worst thing
that comes out of this for him, And and and
getting yourself right that that you know, Uh, that's the
only way he's got to approach you. But this is
not gonna be a good week for him, not at all. Horay,
we see you want to get in on some Texans.
We want you to get in on some Texans. So
seven one three two one two five seven ninety will
give you that chance. Get back in the CJ and
(02:00:40):
the guys have they pull off a huge win yesterday.

Speaker 9 (02:01:34):
Okay, let's do this, Sean Salisbury, Salisbury to usc true
longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury, Dan Matthew, excuse, this is the
Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (02:01:51):
Rockets back on the floor tonight six point thirty preseason
action against the Hawks. So the season getting underway in
the regular season gonna get underway here in just a
few weeks and UH loses to Texas Tech thirty five eleven.
Speaker 1 (02:02:04):
Texas.
Speaker 6 (02:02:04):
We've been talking a little bit about them. They lose
to the Gators in the swamp put twenty nine, twenty one.
But the Aggie's Mike Alcoast program thirty one nine win
over Mississippi State. They're five and oh to start up
their season. A lot of you want to get in
on some Texans conversations. Let's do that right now. Someone
three two and two, five seven ninety the number to
get in. Ray wants to get into Miami. Y, good morning, how.
Speaker 10 (02:02:28):
Are you doing.
Speaker 20 (02:02:28):
It's very somber here, but I'm happy. First before Texans talk,
Mike McDaniels, we let him go. We had his brother
on the staff also, and I don't know if his
brother is still on our staff, but I know we
let him go, and I think Miami is going to
let this guy go. He gave the ball back with
a chance to win, so the other team can ice
the game and win the game. He's done now. CJ
(02:02:54):
looked good, but I didn't. What I didn't like because
all coaches look at taping everything. One thing I didn't
like is that Pierce isn't that good? You know, we
up already about thirty some points. I don't come dominate,
but slipping and sliding like Aaron Foster after two yards Pierce,
isn't that good? David Mills. The guy missed the first
(02:03:16):
down catch, so that wasn't Neil's fault. Mells did okay,
but Damian Pierce needs to go to We have this
young kid coming in, juking and jaking, making yardists, running downhill,
and we have Chubb and why don't they use in Texans,
tell us an update on the start and running back?
Why can't we get an update on the running back?
Speaker 1 (02:03:36):
That's all I got, right, appreciate it, Ray, Yeah, the
mixing stuff is strange. I mean it's extremely odd and weird,
which tells you don't expect him back anytime.
Speaker 6 (02:03:46):
So it doesn't seem like it because I mean the
fact that they've been very cagy about this, and I
mean that also kind of makes you wonder too, like
what was the non football related injury? I know it
was workout, is what they say, but it's like kind
of like when you're evasive about this, then it starts
to make you wonder, like what's up here?
Speaker 1 (02:04:04):
Well, the more evasive you are, the more we question
if it was something that shouldn't have been done. Andre
Joe would be great to have with this depth. But
they're doing a good job with the two, mixing them
and getting them in their strength, meaning Chubb and Marks.
But yeah, that is a very odd situation. I don't know,
but I would think that right now you're probably going
(02:04:26):
forward to you hope Joe's back, but I would think
you're going forward thinking that he's not going to be.
Speaker 9 (02:04:30):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:04:31):
I think that's one hundred percent the mindset you have
to have, because there's nothing to lead you to believe
that he is going to be back this year exactly,
and there's an updates or anything. There's nothing. So I mean,
I don't see it happen anytime soon. That's just me.
Speaker 6 (02:04:43):
I mean, as far as I know, like not even
off to the side running, not a hey he's in
the building. I have no idea, I mean, any of
those things.
Speaker 1 (02:04:50):
Then. Yeah, but there's a reason why we don't know
very much. Let's put it that way. I don't know
if you know, for whatever reason I got how he
got hurt, that's not the point. The point is, uh,
if if we're counting on him coming back. Although it
would be great, I think you'd probably be chasing a
ghost right now. It's not gonna have anytime soon.
Speaker 6 (02:05:07):
Well, as you said, it'd be nice to have him back,
but Texan's able to put up forty four points yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:05:12):
That's something they hadn't been able to say in quite
a bet.
Speaker 6 (02:05:14):
Someone three two one two five seven ninety Willis wants
to weigh in.
Speaker 1 (02:05:18):
Good morning, Willis, morning, ding sewn Sean.
Speaker 19 (02:05:23):
I'm good, good, good brother, I'm good doing good.
Speaker 1 (02:05:26):
Thanks.
Speaker 19 (02:05:27):
Got a question for you. They went down there yesterday
and he punished.
Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
The Ravens Lamar didn't play.
Speaker 19 (02:05:34):
They they what they were supposed to do yesterday as
a football team would have depleted Ravens roster. I know
it's a little early, but the trade deadline is the
way do you do you see them making a move
of the trade deadline? And if they were to make
a move, we need to be.
Speaker 1 (02:05:49):
Looking for now.
Speaker 7 (02:05:51):
Will it's a great question. It's great to hear from me. Brother.
Speaker 1 (02:05:53):
One of my favorite people in the in the world
is Willis, and he's a phenomenally human being and uh
and knows how to handle a good battle when it
comes to making sure that people around him are better
and always he makes everybody better. Willis, I think they
have to be active. The one thing about the Ravens
that's always been consistent, that is as consistent and his
(02:06:15):
sound organization as we've seen the last fifteen twenty years.
And Ozzy helped build that thing. Ozzie k Newson was
great and it's just been it's been a well oiled machine.
We've always wondered when they're going to get a big
play well, you know where they dominate at the Praier
and Lamar's never had four guys that are great on
the you know what I'm saying, Mark Andrews good, He's
(02:06:35):
always a Hollywood. He's always had a few players. So
you could use more playmakers on there. There's no doubt
because you're putting too much onus on really the guy
under center and the guy that sits behind him.
Speaker 7 (02:06:44):
That's one.
Speaker 1 (02:06:45):
But for me, Willis, they've got to get and even
when they're healthy, they've got to get back to being
dominant defense. Now, when you don't have Rokwan Smith and
you don't have your safety, I mean, but there is
still something that of you.
Speaker 7 (02:06:59):
There's no doubt. I mean, we can go on and on.
Speaker 1 (02:07:01):
So for me, another playmaker and I'm never but what
are you going to give up to get him?
Speaker 13 (02:07:07):
Too?
Speaker 1 (02:07:08):
One and two is a dominant defense because even when
they were healthy, they were getting pushed around a little bit.
Something's missing from there, and you know you want to
get Ronnie Stanley back, I mean the whole thing. They're
just depleted, but maybe even more than one move Willi's
the question is what are you going to have to
give up to go get them? But in my trust
(02:07:29):
of that organization, they do a lot right, But there
comes a point in time when you can't continue to
place the burden on Lamar and say you got to
go win. It's always on you, always on you. He
does enough of that already and you saw what happens
when is just his energy's not on the field. Both sides,
the all suffer. So I think that there's some stuff
that needs to be done there right now. And you
(02:07:49):
know this willis being from that neck of the woods,
in that area of the country that they never like
it when the team, the other team in town I
mean meaning the Commanders is playing better than that, So
that that that's something they'll take into account.
Speaker 19 (02:08:02):
You know that very true. I wanted to say to
work before I get over here. Dan, I've been listening
to you for a while. Also, like with Ryan, he's.
Speaker 10 (02:08:10):
Doing a great job.
Speaker 13 (02:08:10):
Brother, keep doing what you're doing.
Speaker 19 (02:08:12):
And I got like, Sean knows this well anybody.
Speaker 10 (02:08:15):
I'm gonad he support you also as Sean, I'm gonna
get off.
Speaker 19 (02:08:17):
Of here, appreciate you support me like you've done over
the years.
Speaker 10 (02:08:21):
Take care of yourself.
Speaker 19 (02:08:22):
Keep doing what you're doing, brother, and I will talk to.
Speaker 1 (02:08:24):
You so him look forward to willis nobody better than you,
my man? Thank you, appreciate it. The guy is a
there's You'll be hard pressed to find a better human
being than that guy. I'm being said. He cares about
people more than that. I mean, he's you know that
that feeling of just that if he had something going
negative in his life, he's not worried about what's going
on in his life or without you. It's not about
(02:08:45):
him always always when he says he supports you and
has been listening to you, that's not hyperbolic. No, I
appreciate that. He's a good man. Who he's the guy
that if you had had something to do six months
from now, he'll know the day you had to do
it and send you a message that's a not a reminder.
That's how good he is.
Speaker 7 (02:09:03):
I were fortunate to have great callers and listeners on
this show.
Speaker 9 (02:09:06):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:09:06):
I never lose sight of sports and all. That's fine,
but guys like him and our callers and listeners that
make this job worth coming to every day.
Speaker 6 (02:09:13):
No, it's it's it's always awesome to have people that
genuinely care about you, right, that's yeah, And you hope
to be able to, you know, to.
Speaker 1 (02:09:23):
Have that go well, yeah, send it on boomerang, send
it back to him, give him someone the love he
sends out right. But he's right about Baltimore is I
can't remember the last time I looked at Baltimore and said,
they're they're there. There's some weakness injuries, of course, now
they're they're going to come back frenzied when they come
back healthy.
Speaker 7 (02:09:41):
They just are.
Speaker 1 (02:09:42):
But there the Ravens. In order to they've got to
keep staying. When you put too much onus on one player,
eventually it's going to get you. And you can see
what one player actually does offensively because they were what
the top scoring team in the league going in yesterday,
Texans put a stop to that. And especially, you can
do a lot of things when you know you don't
(02:10:02):
have to defend the full field, when Lamar's not playing.
Speaker 6 (02:10:04):
Worst defense in the league in terms of points giving
up per game, and it's not even close. Thirty five
point four the next closest there are full four points
ahead of them, and that's the Jets.
Speaker 1 (02:10:15):
And I gave you the stat of Jets turn the
ball over. I'm not forced to turnover one time. Awful.
Speaker 6 (02:10:20):
Cincinnati is in front of them, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, Do
I need to keep going?
Speaker 1 (02:10:26):
That shows you how bad they've been. But even when
they were healthy, they were not The metrics were not
the same. For Baltimore. They have to make some moves
here because they're pretty What are they wont for? Yeah,
the chances and then you know, the Steelers had a
bye week. They're getting better. We obviously know that the
Browns defense is better. They had a chance yesterday, but
(02:10:48):
that that division, the division's weaker than we thought it
was going to be. Cincinnati and nobody else. What's that? No,
I'm sorry, Pittsburgh and nobody rites. That's exactly what nobody
else is making. The Helloufs and that vision exactly. And
we're going in if all their quarterbacks, everybody's healthy, you
think they're gonna be better. Sam's Cleveland, But you talk
about the defense, like, can we please get some help?
(02:11:09):
Maybe Dylan Gabriel elevates a little bit, But it was
supposed to be a three horse race. But Burrow gone.
They they're awful now and they're and the Steelers are
getting better and Baltimore's getting worse. You got to get
people healthy or you're gonna put Lamar and Harm's way,
and that's gonna be a problem. Pittsburgh can now just
think about can we get the number ones, get the
ten wins and you win the you win the division,
get the twelve wins and you're in the hunt for
(02:11:30):
the After Buffalo's lost in England, you're going to be
in that twelve to thirteen sows up home field advantage throughout.
Speaker 6 (02:11:38):
Now, that's that's their charge now. But something though that
it just happened upon right there as our conversation went,
because I mean, it's something that I think kind of
compares the Texans City Astros this year and at least
in the Texans case, it's a good thing. We'll discuss
that here as we continue along. Here Sean Salisbury's show
in the nine o'clock hour on a Monday Sports Talks
seven to ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:11:57):
Hey, guys, Halloween costumes are supposed to be scary, but
your retirement isn't.
Speaker 19 (02:12:02):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:12:03):
I know it's a little cheesy when I say that,
but it's true. This is a great month. All the
great decorations at the home and the costumes you're looking for.
Love it, but if you're preparing for retirement, don't don't
let it be scary. I can't think of anything worse now.
I'm not in retirement, and I know people out there
that are, and I know when my family was pushing
towards retirement, my mother and father. And you get to
(02:12:24):
a point where you're like, okay, have you done everything
in your power to give yourself the best opportunity to
where it's not trick, it's treat in your retirement and tration.
Speaker 7 (02:12:36):
Wealth can help with that.
Speaker 1 (02:12:36):
Trja and local trusted financial fiduciary that wants to help
you achieve your goals. Right, And it's also a football season.
How many times have you seen a friend of yours
or even you making mistakes we all have along the
way to retirement. If you're in retirement thinking about it
or planning for it, fumble away an investment or something
you did, or frivolous mistake that if you'd had somebody
(02:12:59):
there to help you and guide you and stand shoulder
to shoulder with you wouldn't make, which puts you behind
and now you're chasing when it comes to retirement. Don't
fumble that away either it's football season. Let somebody else
on the field do that. Retirement's important, and I think
peace of mind when you're talking about stress and anxiety
and all the things that go with jobs in four
oh one k roll over and risk tolerance, and do
I have enough to stay retired? Well, if you have
(02:13:21):
somebody standing shoulder to shoulder with you, that's an expert
that knows this and has helped literally thousands of people
in their plans for this, would you want to be
around that. I would, because listen, once you get into retirement,
having to go back to the workforce cannot be fun,
especially when it's not your.
Speaker 7 (02:13:40):
Option, it's theirs, meaning the people.
Speaker 1 (02:13:43):
Hey man, you need more money, gotta go back, So

it and Trasion wealth that expertise, that's where it lives on.

And his name is sure seaw Really we.
Speaker 2 (02:15:01):
Find Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (02:15:04):
But Jay wants to chime in sevene three two one
two five seven ninety Jacob morning.
Speaker 13 (02:15:10):
Hey, what's up buddy? Uh before I get to my
text in question that the defensive coordinator for the Ravens
get fired last night.
Speaker 6 (02:15:20):
I think I saw that it was asked about. But Harball,
I think is still going to stick with them.
Speaker 1 (02:15:27):
I think so. I think that's what I saw.
Speaker 13 (02:15:30):
Okay, my text and Nixon or Mixon why they're so secretive?
How come they just can't tell us? You know, he
didn't get hurt on the football field, so he got
hurt outside.
Speaker 21 (02:15:48):
Is is Hannah still paying this guy?
Speaker 6 (02:15:52):
I mean, yeah, he's still under contract, still with the team.
It's just the details of it, or you know as
much as we do, Jay, And that's not my no.
Speaker 21 (02:16:01):
Now I hear through the WEEKI leaks. It could be
a mental issue, it could be uh, it could be
uh something. He may have shot himself in m but uh, yeah,
I haven't heard.
Speaker 1 (02:16:14):
I haven't heard it.
Speaker 6 (02:16:15):
We we haven't heard any of those things, Jay, So, yeah,
that's that's not gonna come from us.
Speaker 13 (02:16:21):
Okay, man, I thought he I thought under his contract,
if you're not playing football, you don't get paid.
Speaker 1 (02:16:28):
No, you do get Now, if it was cond now
in this situation, I'm not saying it was, but if
it was conduct detrimental, you can battle with the n
f l p A and say, you know, like we
see in the past, guys like say somebody got hurt
riding a motorcycle in their contracts that don't ride motorcycles
something like that, then uh, then then then you can.
But if I'm assuming they're paying him, we haven't heard
(02:16:51):
much about that, And it is one of those situations, right,
it's very secret, and I don't get it. Joe would
be great for this team, and he's been a great
leader since he's been there, but I haven't heard anything.
And maybe that's part of the secrets. I haven't heard
anything about what you were saying. Has been shot. I mean,
you've shot himself and none of that. I don't know
any of that. And the fact of the matter is
that I'm not sure many people do right now. But
(02:17:14):
the secretive part of it tells you that whatever they're
working through, they're working through it. But boy, we could
sure use him as a leader and a football player
on the field. And I don't know the reason why
I'm assuming he's getting paid still because these insiders will
do their due diligence trying to figure it out. But
nobody right now seems to know the extent of this
injury or how it exactly happened, at least I don't.
Speaker 6 (02:17:36):
And if he wasn't, I appreciate the call, by the way, Jay,
If he wasn't, then you'd beginning Aaron Wilson or somebody
reporting their's a grievance.
Speaker 1 (02:17:44):
Of course, that's what I'm saying. Those guys, that's what
their job is to find out those things. And it's
just I just all indications say don't count on him soon.
But I have no idea the depth of what it
is or how it happened. But if it was a
non football related injury, well then they're they're the ones
who are doing their due diligence to figure out when
(02:18:07):
he's coming back, if he is, or how serious it
is or And I don't know anything about the mental
side of any.
Speaker 6 (02:18:12):
I mean, when it first happened too, and we knew
that it was more than likely he wasn't gonna play.
I mean, remember, Demiko, Ryan's being asked about it. Oh,
you know, ask about the guy. And it's just like, Demiko, look,
I understand what you're trying to do there, but that's
not really our job. Like our job is Joe Mixon
the football player. Now you want to make sure that
health wise he's fine, He's okay. I get all of that,
(02:18:32):
and yeah, I mean that's a valid concern, but like,
don't don't put it back on us like it's an injury.
Speaker 1 (02:18:37):
There was a report, you follow up on the report.
That's how this job goes. Yeah, that they The fact is,
even in baseball, you've seen it, they're always going to
err on the side of protecting the player whatever. That
injury is, right, but it's awfully secretive. And I don't
know the depth of the injury or how is this
is this one that's going to last into next year?
(02:18:58):
I don't know, and I don't think any of us do.
And if the if the team does and players on
the team do well, then they're awfully they're they're they're
going to be closed mouth about it because they're protecting
their buddy, and rightfully, so I get it. I just
say it's just odd that it's so secret.
Speaker 6 (02:19:11):
Teams want to control the narrative as much as possible,
and I'm not saying that's the case here in this situation,
but there's sometimes where you can't. I mean, like I said,
the reports get out there, you can't be upset because
we want clarification on it if that's the case, Because
I mean, Jonathan Alexander, I mean, you know, djb Enemy,
anybody that covers the team, What the hell are you
doing there if if you're not asking for clarification on
(02:19:33):
reports that are coming from not only outside the building
but outside the local media.
Speaker 1 (02:19:38):
One thing we do know, Joe Mixon loves to play football. Yeah,
so it's obviously severe enough to keep him away from
playing football, whatever that is. And I'm not going to
speculate on what it is because I have a zero idea.
I don't want that coming back at either of us.
Speaker 6 (02:19:52):
All Right, So a Texans opportunity yesterday that was capitalized on.
Speaker 1 (02:19:57):
But what if? Just what if?
Speaker 6 (02:19:59):
And also to to get into a little bit more
college football before we kick it over to the Matt
Toms Show with Ross at ten am. All that right here,
Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven to ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:20:09):
Now, DNM Leasing just delivered a truck to a customer
who had listened to DNM for more than twenty five years.
(02:20:31):
He knew he'd trade the truck in in a few years,
and he knew he'd end up well upside down again,
owing more than it was worth. Well, that's when he
remembered the dn M commercials. Ever seen a Texas title?
And when you trade in a long finance contract, the
only thing you own is negative equity. Those quotes, so
he called DNM leasing showed him is that leasing isn't
(02:20:53):
about what you can afford. It's simply the smarter way
most people pay for their vehicles. Smarter. See what smarter
does for you? And DNM leasing is smart. Leasing isn't renting.
Let me say it again, Leasing isn't renting. It's smarter.
Who doesn't want smarter? Harder doesn't always work. Smarter does,
and especially when it puts money in your pocket and
(02:21:14):
makes it easier for you at the beginning, the middle,
and the end. Dial seven one three two nine zero
one thousand seven one three two nine zero one thousand,
or visit us at dn M. It's DNM leasing, dmauto
leasing dot com, dmauto leasing dot com. They continue to
win awards and there's a reason why dn M it's
(02:21:35):
dmauto leasing dot Com.
Speaker 2 (02:21:37):
And we the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 1 (02:21:40):
Continues that that's why I'm thinking Matt Fitzpatrick, who goes
the key is cross handed shipping. Now mm hm he
started cross handed shipping, and I'm like, that takes rist
action out of it. So just working on a nice
little one piece takeaway, you know what I'm saying, on
the full swing and just you know' making sure that
I you don't decelerate on the downswing. Just the little things.
(02:22:03):
I'm just constantly reminding myself. I'm trying to remember commercial breaks.
Who was he in Ghostbusters? He was his name I
don't remember. Yeah, I've only seen the movie four hundred
times and I don't remember his name. Is I still
call him Bill Murray? He was, Yeah, it was Vincman.
There you go.
Speaker 6 (02:22:18):
Yeah, cats with dogs, you know, all all of the
other things he said, And then I can't remember the
one guy that was the bad guy. But anyway, Texans
take care of business. U of H loses to Texas
Tech thirty five to eleven. But the Rockets back on
the floor tonight. Some preseason action real quick here before
we get back to the phone calls, So I said,
(02:22:39):
the Astros and Texans comparison, Let's just say that yesterday
the Texans get out of there seventeen points less than
they scored twenty seven to ten win. Are we talking
as glowingly about this offense and his team this morning?
Speaker 1 (02:22:51):
He fixed this, Mike Dan. It would depend on me
how they got to the twenty seven points. The Smorgesborg
they went about yesterday. Sometimes you can score less but
have more impressive win. Listen, they poured it on. It
was the Ravens are not a we're not even a
formidable competitor yesterday. But yeah, of course, when we look
at say forty four, you had to look. I'll guarantee
(02:23:12):
you there's still things they missed that they want to
get straightened out. Sure, and that's the sign of a
good team when you score forty four and think, you
know what, we probably should have hung sixty three on
their ash yesterday. So but you start to look run
game solid interior. You saw how they use what he
marks in the passing game and getting him on the perimeter.
You saw Stroud stand in the pocket. The ball was
delivered precisely and on time. And from the opening dude,
(02:23:34):
when they went down and boom boom boom right off
the bat, you knew that he was in rhythm. And
then all of a sudden, the coordinator called his best game.
The defense did what they did, got after it. Matter
of fact, they limited their plays. They didn't even give
them any play. I mean, they just dominated, and the
offensive line got better. Now you're going to be tested
more as you move along when you play in better teams,
(02:23:54):
but including the Yeah, right, you can only play who
you play, and Seattle tests him because their head coach
is a defense guy. I mean, but listen, they're on
a schedule. They didn't beat now thirteen to ten. We're
having a different conversation today, no doubt. We're calling it
fools gold now while we're still wondering. I just know this,
when you hang forty four on anybody in the NFL,
(02:24:14):
you did some things right. But as any good team does,
even defensively, they're gonna go back to the tape and said,
you know, we can't miss that tackle, or can't jump
off sides, or can't let that guy get that catch.
Of course, that's why they're good. But my favorite thing
was how they implemented it. From the get going. We're aggressive,
and the tight ends continued, the elevation of targets to
(02:24:35):
tight ends, and you saw when you're if you never
know what a quarterback's doing in a game, let's say
you're new to it, just look at the number of
people that are involved in the offense when he's spreading
the ball around, which tells me he's not one player friendly,
and that's important. It's easy to be one player friendly
when you got number twelve running routes for him. So
there was an advancement in the game all around, and
(02:24:56):
it looked like Nick Cayley said, I got a cater
to what we're doing great, and you see what a
tight end position does and what a versatile running back
does to the bandwidth your offense. It was impressive, and
you know you can play freer when you know the defense,
even if you make a mistake and you have to
punt or they flip the field on you, that the
(02:25:17):
defense can stop the score, force a field goal, and
give you a chance to go score again. Yesterday was
their most complete game of the year. And I understand
is Baldemborg, you're still on the road. You're still with
the team that had some pride, but it didn't look
like a lot of pride was in the building because
you know what the Texas did.
Speaker 7 (02:25:31):
Took it out of them immediately.
Speaker 1 (02:25:33):
They stole their soul yesterday and they humiliated them in
front of their own crowd. Regardless you think the backup says, well,
I'm a backup. We're supposed to get our ass kicked. No,
he's embarrassed today because they got mauled yesterday. The fourth
quarter looked like a preseason game in August, It's sure,
and the whole game looked like the number ones versus
the twos or threes in a spring game when Ohio
State's playing their number three, and they go out there
(02:25:54):
and the ones, you know, and then they get off
and they're worried about where the fraternity and sorority party
is going to because they beat him down so bad. Yeah,
I think I think the.
Speaker 6 (02:26:01):
Bars there in Baltimore were more packed than that stadium
was in the second half.
Speaker 1 (02:26:04):
They got them, they got some, They got some some
pontificating to do in Baltimore right now.
Speaker 6 (02:26:10):
The crab cakes did not taste as good, that's for sure.
Someone three two one, two five seven ninety the number
to get in. We called for them. Larry and Stafford.
Good morning, Larry.
Speaker 2 (02:26:20):
What going on?
Speaker 18 (02:26:20):
Bull dogs?
Speaker 10 (02:26:21):
Huh? Y'all know it's a glorious Monday for your boy man.
So I figured i'd had to get in here and
let y'all have a little bit this Larryus Stafford Son.
You remember on Friday, I think it was last week,
I told you if they scored twenty four points that
this thing was gonna be something that we could.
Speaker 1 (02:26:36):
All be proud of, right yep.
Speaker 10 (02:26:39):
So So here here's where I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:26:40):
At on it.
Speaker 10 (02:26:41):
The fact that they finally got to win in Baltimore
and got that that elephant off their back man, because
they were owing eight up there. Man, that's gonna be
a huge psychological advantage for this team moving forward, because
I don't give a damn about Baltimore having eighty one
hundred million dollar men on the bench over there injured.
It's football, man, Everybody gets injured. So if you think
(02:27:03):
I'm gonna sit here and feel sorry for your ass
after what y'all did to us and that Beyonce Bowl
last on Christmas Day where I had to go home
and open up presence of coal while y'all was laughing,
I'd be damn. I'm laughing all week long at them
raving some because here's the thing I saw you, Nick Cayley.
You can't go back now. Now we see that you
(02:27:26):
understand how to call plays and do what you're supposed
to do because on that first drive, you got the ball.
See they got the ball into six or seven different
dudes hands. That's how you call plays, and that's what
we've been wanting to see since the season started.
Speaker 9 (02:27:40):
Now.
Speaker 10 (02:27:40):
I understand that y'all came out of camp and may
not have been right up to speed, but some of
that stuff you was calling in them first games didn't
look like what I saw yesterday. So when I lit
up that cion after the game yesterday, I go ain't
no way Nick Cayley can go back. Now. He's gonna
have to unleash the hounds on these boys now, because
everybody in the league knows when you put a party
(02:28:02):
berger on somebody, you dangerous. And we got a lot
of folks that looked good yesterday. Seej Son, You remember
these folks was out here talking about CJ wasn't a
good quarterback and he had all this. I don't know
what these foods was thinking, but CJ. Stroud is an
elite quarterback and the fact that they allowed him to
get into rhythm and to be able to distribute that
(02:28:24):
ball to everybody on the field yesterday just makes me
excited moving forwards. And it couldn't have happened at a
better time, because anytime you could go into the bar
we putting foot to add somebody. That makes going to
Cowboy a little bit easy. Bulldog, I might brink me
another one in them thanks later on this evening, because
I got a whole humor door sticks in all hollers.
Speaker 6 (02:28:44):
I appreciate it. Larry the Coffee tastes better on a
victory Monday. And the cigars do taste the sticks when
you fire them up on the back patio, they they're
even better.
Speaker 1 (02:28:55):
They're smoking smells. That's one of those you fire up
in the house even when you're not supposed to because
you don't have time, because you're impatient. They walk out
the back door. Okay. It's also it's not even just
a backpattyo where all the TVs are. It's one of
those you step out onto the front porch and sit
on that front porch where people drive by the street
and they could see the smoker and you're doing it
real slow as everybody said their Halloween stuff out. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:29:17):
Oh they trick or treated on their ass last night, yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:29:20):
That's the one time the one neighbor gets home, sees
Larry and he's envious. He's like, I want that life. Yeah,
see I want it's a Monday, like I should add
that life. You just get ground down, you know, and
just you know, today was a work day, all of
that kind of stuff, you know. Yeah, make him envious, Larry,
it was. And he's so right about dude, I there's
(02:29:42):
nothing worse in foot. Well, there's a lot worse, but
a little bit hyperbolic for me. But when I'm talking it,
they were going into a bye week and getting your
ass kicked is awful, Yeah, dude, and you can't do
anything about even if you're trying to get away for
three days. You know what you're thinking, We embarrassed ourselves.
(02:30:04):
Now the opposite is true. Going into the bye week
with a win, You clear all the clutter out of
your mind, no matter what's happening before. You don't even
think about game one. You now, if game one cost
you in the end of the season, then it'll piss
you off, but you don't even think about it. You're like, oh,
we're going on to the bye week now, this is
who we're supposed to be. It's just a piece of
homes a little better, the food tastes a little better,
(02:30:25):
the cold beers a little bit better, sleeps a little
bit better. Yeah, it's it's all better. So and now
the whole key is staying focused enough to come out
of it and know what you're about to face, but
staying relaxed enough to know you deserve a little time off,
no doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (02:30:41):
Brandon and Ryan squeeze you in here continuing the Texans conversation.
Seven one three, two one two five seven ninety is
the number to get in here on the Sean Salisbury Show.
And speaking of everything is better, that's my life right now.
I'm not kidding because a lot of people talk about
the Sunday scaries, and you know, of course this time
of the year, they're not as scary because we got football.
(02:31:03):
But then you get to Monday and you're like, oh,
it's the work week, it's all of that nae. For me,
I mean, that's absolutely not the case, because Monday it's
my favorite day of the week because that means I
get to go see Michelle and the crew over there
at Centergenics the Galleria office, and I'm going to be
there in about twenty minutes or so for Centergenics in
the Low T Center, and I talk about it all
the time. They are the not just MVP MVP, They're
(02:31:26):
the original MVP. So testosterone replacement therapy change the lives

(02:31:46):
approach to restoring your quality of life.
Speaker 1 (02:31:49):
And I say it all the time. I mean I
was one of these people.
Speaker 6 (02:31:52):
I noticed that I was getting tired more often, I
was experiencing a lack of motivation. And I, you know,
through Michell and everybody there at Centergenics, I came to learn.
They learned me something. It's not just a physical and
mental change to the body. It's not just aging. It
is all of those things in testosterone can sure help.
Speaker 1 (02:32:09):
Don't just take my word for it.
Speaker 6 (02:32:11):
If you know anybody that's gone through the hallways there
at Centergenics, they are going to tell you after they've
been going through the treatments, my energy levels are up,
the mood is better, killing it at work, and I
actually want to go to the gym, and then I
want to go back to the gym and back to
the gym and keep eating healthy and doing all of
those things.
Speaker 1 (02:32:27):
And the lady well can't argue with those results either.
Speaker 6 (02:32:30):

Speaker 1 (02:33:23):
Ninety, Well, I feel bad because the play he's gonna
you never let that go right and get chewed out
by the coach. But I just don't get young. I'm
trying to hold my water as they say, when are
we gonna stop doing this? When are you gonna stop
making it about yourself and another selfish athlete saying, look
(02:33:43):
at me and decide I'm gonna do this to look cool,
finish the play. See I would guys like that, I'd cut.
I know it's not because that's that's a self inflicted
problem and that's selfish to fifty two other guys. But
I'll leave it at that guy getting stabbed at a
rougher day and self inflicted. There no pun Well, there's
no there's no better teacher than you lose a game.
(02:34:03):
So if you're any coach, well, how do you show
that her teammates the next day and look around and say, hey, man,
am I bad? Yeah? Oh we know you know we
lost a game because of it? Yeah, so thanks, we
know what you're bad. You need to point to yourself
like I said about Nico Collins when he was patting
himself on the chest about oh that's my bad. It's like, yeah,
we know, we know. You put the ball on the ground.
Speaker 6 (02:34:21):

Good morning, Ryan, Good.
Speaker 22 (02:35:10):
Morning fellas man, Larry and Stafford took the words right
out of my mouth. That was a good little slumpbuster.
Speaker 8 (02:35:15):
It's like that take.
Speaker 22 (02:35:15):
Everybody knew in college that was a battie, but you
found her after college. Everybody's gonna remember that you did it,
not what you looked like when you did do it.
Just remember that if you're hitting around the green Shawn,
remember just keep those risks locked to be fine, don't decelerate,
don't ever underestimate the power of a good bump and run,
and prayers for Matt. I know he's hurting today after
that U of H and P down, so hopefully he's
doing all right.
Speaker 8 (02:35:36):
Do you boys have a go and enjoy that weekend?
Go Texans, baby.
Speaker 1 (02:35:39):
There you got pretty stiff with the wrist. But I
deceleration is always a problem, man, that is always. I'm
a big bumping run guy. I play with an eight
I come old school. Oh, I don't have a problem.
If I got a chance, I'll a little pitch. I'll
put an eight iron from a little distance, get it
up and get the quicker. I can get it on
the green, and most people running now far better than
(02:35:59):
those you're trying to fly to the flagsticks. So yeah,
been working endlessly on it. That's it. Al real quick, man,
you got a great.
Speaker 23 (02:36:09):
Show, say Sean. I'm gonna take away this real quick.
The game of the deal is the rest of the season,
Go chicks. Is the way he ran the fall, Sewan.
You've got to run the ball and you leave even
when they know you're running it. And I think Desh
was really Friday his land cheap running the fall. It
opens up so much of the stiff. You gotta trust
(02:36:30):
the one.
Speaker 1 (02:36:30):
There you go, there you go appreciate it. Thank you.
Quick right to it. Yep, thirty three runs to twenty
seven passes yesterday. I want to go look at the
stat around the league. How many teams won because they
ran the ball more attempts than the other team. I'll
tell you that, I'll take it every single Monday out.
Give me more attempts than the other team in about
eighty five percent time.
Speaker 7 (02:36:48):
You're winning that football game.
Speaker 6 (02:36:49):
Winning philosophy, and the Texans found it yesterday. He's sean triple,
Emmanuel Elmore, John. We'll get to you tomorrow if you
give us a shout. And uh, I'm Dan Matthews the
