talk about our wonderful fair. We have a jam pack
schedule plan and it's going to be awesome.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Taking any better with the pronunciation of your last name
this year, Terry.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Sure, you did great?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I always ali got it?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Oh, perfect, perfect. You know, it's it's a really cool event.
And for people that maybe are new to Madison or
Dane County, or this may be their first year planning
to go to the to the horse fair, let's talk
about what makes it so special and what makes it
so unique? You bet so.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Twenty twenty five, this is going to be our forty
fourth fair and we are proud to host the largest
three day horse fair and really, you know, Madison, Wisconsin
becomes the epicenter for the equine community for the weekend
and so we you know, a host over this year,
we'll have about eight hundred horses at the fair, and
(01:13):
we'll have over thirty seven different breeds and disciplines we have.
Last year we launched a new initiative to host rare
and critical breeds, So we're going to have some breeds
that there's only five hundred of them around the world.
And so you know, it's about sixty thousand folks join
us across the weekend and there's tons to talk about.
(01:34):
I'm sure we're going to get into that.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
We are for sure, and as we as we talked
this morning with Terry, we'll cover a lot, but doesn't
mean we're going to cover close to everything. And that's
why it's so important to head on over to the
website Midwest Horsefair dot com. That's Midwest Horsefair dot com.
You can get tickets online. You can learn more about
the event as well. Again that website Midwest Horsefair dot com.
(01:56):
And again that's gonna be running the eleventh through the
thirteenth at the Alliance and Center right here in Madison.
You can buy tickets online. Obviously, the the the horses
are the stars of the weekend and for folks that
that maybe they have horses or are or are hoping
to have a horse someday. There's really cool as well.
(02:17):
I know there's shopping opportunities for folks that want the gear,
want to want to have those those really neat things.
You guys actually have a whole area, I should say,
areas areas devoted just to that, don't you.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
You're right so, and I would say people who have horses,
people who maybe want to have horses there, people who
just love horses, you know, they can come to our
fair and really get to experience the special bond between
horse and rider and just the special animal that the
horse is. But you are right. So we have almost
four hundred exhibitors who provide everything for horse and rider
(02:51):
from head to toe, and so the shopping is amazing,
and we also have really wonderful food vendors, so there's
great things to eat, and you know, it's jampacked. Folks
really probably need to come all three days to experience
all that we've got going on.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
It should be, it should be fine. And I know
you always bring some some specially get touched on some
of them. I know there's always some special shows as well.
Tell us about this, uh this, uh uh. I know
that there's an appy black apple Lousa that you guys
have featured this year. Let's can we talk a little
bit about some of those some of those horses and
some of the other things that you're that you you're
(03:26):
going to see this year at the at the horse Fair.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Sure. So some of those the rare breeds that we have.
One of them is ak Caltechi. They kind of have
they're known for their kind of golden shimmery coat and
so really amazing to see them in person. We also
are going to have Dale's Ponies. There's less than five
hundred of them in the world. They're native to Great Britain.
(03:50):
And then we have the Dakota, who's also a critical
breed and their ancestors kind of ran wild in the
Missouri bad Lands. In addition to all the other amazing
beautiful breeds of horses and stallions.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
That we'll have, and I know, Friday and Saturday night
a huge highlight for a lot of folks is the rodeo.
And this year you guys will have the bulls, the
bronx and the barrels as well, won't you.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
We are we are privileged to host the largest attended
PRCA rodeo in Wisconsin. So we have the seven standard events.
The Rodeo will kick off at actually at seven forty
five this year because we're starting our evening shows with
an International Liberty Horse Association competition, So we've got ten
competitors coming from across the country who will be demonstrating
(04:37):
liberty set to music and performing and so that's a
special that's going to be starting at six forty five
pm this year, So our evening shows are starting a
little earlier, but we've kind of got this special act
one that folks will get to enjoy.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
What is Stallion Avenue.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
So Stallion Avenue is a part of our fair where
stallion owners bring their stagns. So I think we we
have over thirty almost thirty five different stallions that folks
will get a chance to meet and learn more about,
and so they demonstrate throughout the weekend and it's really
a great feature at the fair. In addition, in that area,
we happen to have a special drawing that goes on
(05:16):
throughout the weekend, so it's folks all. A lot of
our exhibitors give special baskets and different types of things,
so that's kind of just a fun area of the
fair to go and get a chance to win something to.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Talking this morning with Terry from the Midwest horse Fair.
The website Midwest Horsefair dot com. That's Midwest Horsefair dot
com all one word. You can buy tickets online. You
can buy the three pack of tickets as well, so
you can get out for the entire weekend. They've also
got great tools for trip planning and other things for
the event. And let's talk about kind of the logistics
(05:48):
of this all. Terry, I know you work very hard.
You and your team work very hard year round to
put this event together. Let's talk about a Lin Energy Center.
The grounds that you guys have there a really good
venue for what you guys do, isn't.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
It it is? The Alliant Energy Center is really perfect
for our event. And you know, there's got a lot
of parking. We still encourage folks to get their early
parkings included in our admission tickets, so I want to
get there early each day. But then you know, they've
got two amazing barns. I think we'll have over seven
hundred and fifty stalls in their barns with them. We
(06:24):
have four arenas, and then we have the Coliseum, which
is a special venue that's where we host our rodeos
and also lots of our different clinics and demonstrations that
happen all throughout the weekend.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
For folks that are looking to get tax You got
you got a tax shop out there.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, we've got a lot of tax sellers on this
so we also we get to host the four h
Tax Sale, which is very popular and it's their largest
fund rage fundraiser of the year, and so we host
that at the fair. We have several different tax sellers.
Teer's Tax a favorite of folks. They have a large
up at the fair, so tons tons of that opportunity.
Speaker 1 (07:03):

Midwest Horsefair online Midwest Horsefair dot com. That's Midwest Horsefair

already or something we haven't had a chance to talk about,
something that you're really looking forward to this for this
(07:46):

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, thanks for asking, because we actually we have a
very special famous equestrian who is planning to visit the
horse Fair this year. Her name is Amber Marshall. Folks
may also know her as Amy Fleming on the eighteen
year TV series Heartland, so she is a native to Canada.
She'll be joining us during the day at the fair
and then our evening shows. And she's also going to
(08:10):
be joined by a special equestrian, a famous in the
equestrian world, Dan James, who's her real world trainer on Heartland,
and he's bringing five of his Heartland famous horses, so
folks will get a chance to see them do a
demonstration during the day on Saturday and Sunday. But we're
super excited to have her join us in Wisconsin and
(08:32):
the United States, and folks have been very excited for
the chance to see her in person.
