this morning, Darryl Erickson. He is the general manager of
the West Side Menard's location. Daryl, how you doing this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm doing great, Sean. Thank you for having me on.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
It's great to have you on again.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
And it's always great because every time we've had you
on the program talking about some really good stuff for
the community. And obviously, now that we're into the summer months,
most kids have summer summers off, which means a very
valuable lifeline for them when it comes to food.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Isn't there anymore schools?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Obviously breakfast, lunch and other things, and food and security
becomes a bigger issue during the summer months. And one
of the really cool things that's going on at all
the Minards locations here in the area. You guys are
doing a food drive, aren't you, Daryl.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yes, we are at this location in the Madison market.
We're doing food drive through the end of July.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
All fantastic. So that's west Side, you got the Monona,
You've got east Side just off the interstate sun Prairie
location as go ahead.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Was that yes, yep? So I'm pravery too.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
All the minards areas are doing that well.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
That is absolutely fantastic, and we talk about some of
the benefits. There are some food pantries. You guys work
closely with the area of food pantries, don't you, right.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
The one that the Madison West side here that we
are affiliated with for this food drive is the Society
of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Oh, fantastic organisms.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
They they work really yep, they work really well with us.
They actually provide bins that we set at the two
front entrances of our building where you cannot purchase non
perishable food items and drop them in there. And if
you just want to donate some that you have already
nonperishal items, you can drop those off too. We do
accept those also.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, I know a lot of folks wonder about that
is you know, if is there an opportunity I know,
and for folks that are regular shoppers like myself with minards. No,
you guys have have a great section there for food
items and other things that folks can also pick up
and donate. But you do say, folks kind if they've
got nonperishable stuff at home, they can they can bring
them in as well.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yep, that would be fine. Yep.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So with this as we're talking this morning with Darryl
Erickson with Minards, of course they've got their big food
drive running now through the end of July. A great
day to get on in and whether you want to
pick up some items in store or do a drop off,
and those benefits to the local food pantry. How long, Daryl,
do you know how many years now you guys have
been participating in doing this event.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
It has been several years, and I would like to say,
you know, the Madison market, it seems very generously. We
do have a good turnout on that. I really do
appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah, one of the.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Really interesting things. And it's a great point you bring
up there, Darryl, is Madison is a very generous community. Unfortunately,
I think a lot of times we forget because it's
also you know, you look around, you think everybody's doing
absolutely fantastic. There are those in need here and you
can't always tell outwardly of who those folks are. And
having a great event like this and a great opportunity
(02:50):
and a convenient opportunity as well, is a big thing.
And I think that's an important point is I think
a lot of us want to help out, and we
have all these great intentions. Sometimes just making it convenient
makes all the difference. I think that's kind of one
of the really cool things you guys are able to
do with Minards is having the very convenient locations, very
convenient hours. It makes it really easy for folks who
(03:11):
want to help out, really gives them a good avenue
to in a very convenient avenue to do just that.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah. Yeah, in our store hours Monday, Monday through Saturday,
we're open six am to ten pm, and on Sunday
we're opening eight a m To a pm. So that's
exactly it Seohn. It's very convenient. We're opening a lot
of hours and they stop in, just stop by the
grocery section and you can drop it off on the
way out when you go through the registers.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Convenience, Convenient, convenient locations, convenient Barrel's a great time of
year to do just that. Darryl Erickson with Menard's website,
Folks may want to go to to get more information.
You got something like that available.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
