few shower is a high f seventy six n cloudie
with showers a low fifty eight currently fifty nine with
clouds here at thirteen ten Wiba. You can't go wrong
with little Blondie in the morning. I can never never

(00:21):
had a It just sounds perfect for the morning. Speaking
of perfect things, it's always a you know, it's a
thing we love to do here in Wisconsin and across
the country stop by our local Minards store, even if
you don't have anything to necessarily on that list, it's
always fun to see what's going on at Minards. And
one of the cool things going on right now through
the end of the month is an opportunity to help

(00:42):
out folks with food insecurity, and we talk about all
the convenient locations of Minards. It's really a great, great
partnership to make it so convenient to help people out
here in the area. And joining us this morning from
the West Side location of Minards their general manager, Daryl Erickson. Daryl,

(01:03):
how are you doing this morning?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I'm doing great, John, thank you for having me on
good morning.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's great to talk with you again.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
And uh and yeah, I I what's interesting to me
always is as we think about this stuff, is we
tend to forget that that food insecurity is real. It's
it's much more prevalent, uh than than we realize. And
I think sometimes I think we're all obviously very generous
and very caring, but because I think a lot of
us just assume that it's not going on, uh, that

(01:32):
it's not there, we tend not to do it. And
one of the things I've loved in talking with you
over the years is it's a it's a it's a
simple reminder that it does exist, and you guys make
it at Minard's really easy for folks to donate nonperishable foods.
Let's talk a little bit about, uh, about the about
the food the food round up that you guys are
doing right now at Minard's.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yep, we do have a at the Minards stores. We
have a grocery section where you can get like cereals
and can goods. We're looking for non perishable items, and
we have convenient locations at the exits of the store.
We have bins that you can donate those items to
the local pantries.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
And you, guys, it's it's all been ours. Of course
you want to stop in and see Darryl. He's at
the West Side location right on Commerce Drive here in Madison,
And yeah, folks, it's you'll see him right as you
as you walk in the entryway and real convenient as
you exit out the store as well to drop those
items off. And we think about we think about spending
some time at Minards. And I've got to ask you this,

(02:30):
since since you're you're the you're there, you're the general manager,
you see it every day. Am I typical like that
where you're like, there's like people that just you know,
stop by my arts?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
What for? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Do you get a lot of people that are just
there because they're like, I just want to see what's see,
what's going on, what's new webinars?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Do you run into a lot of folks like that? Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Absolutely? And we have so many items, it's a one
stop shop. And currently we have a Halloween the Halloween
displays are oute and Christmas displays are starting to go up.
So we definitely do have a lot of people to
stop in here, and we definitely appreciate all the general
see of the people that do participate in the food drive.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
What's the the hot Halloween inflatable this year, Darryl.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Oh, there's there's so many. We have this really tall
skeleton and then they got kind of like a grim Reaper.
But the kids, kids love to come in and shop
that area with their folks and stuff. So it's it's
it's really fun to see that is eyes light up
as they walk through there.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, that is always super cool.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
And and uh and yeah, there's I know, there's always
kind of like one or two things that everyone's like, gosh,
that is the coolest thing in the world. That is
the uh you know, I I'd love to get like
four of those giant skeletons and put them them and
uh and yeah, it's it's always fun to do that stuff.
And as we talk about, uh, the the the opportunity
to to help the area of food pantries. I know

(03:43):
this is going on through the end of the month
collecting those non perishable food items and as we mentioned,
you make it really easy to do at minards and uh,
we we tend to forget because it's such a you know,
it's it's it's it's so ingrained and and who we
are Minars. We forget that that Minards is a it's
a wiscon and business. It's a local business. Obviously there's
locations across the country, but founded right here in Wisconsin.

(04:06):
It's really a true success story, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yes it is yep. Our headquarters is located in No Claire, Wisconsin,
So we are definitely Wisconsin company. And you know we're
here to supports community whichever way we can.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I love folks to get on into any one of
the area Minards stores. Again, they've got the convenient collection
boxes right there to make that donation. Again, they've got,
of course the food pantry right in the store as well.
You can pick up pick up items on nonperishable food
right from the store and again drop them off in
those bins or bring them in as well for you.
And as they've got these ongoing food drives, do you

(04:40):
guys accept things like I know in the past we've
talked about toy drives and pet supplies. Do you guys
are those are coming up soon too, aren't they?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
It's funny you should say that because we actually just
started the Toys for Tots programs. We do have those
boxes out too right now.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Oh perfect, So it's like it's a win win, yeah,
Well for folks that are in that are that are one.
You get to get into Minards and have and do
some great shopping and you can also help help with foods.
You can also make help make a kid's Christmas and
holiday season brighter as well. Darryl, it's always great chatting
with you, and look forward to seeing you real soon

(05:17):
at the store. And thanks for all the great work
that you guys do.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
All right, Sewan, I really appreciate thanks for having me
on again.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Take care.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Darryl Ericson, General manager of the West Side location of Minards.

of the month, through the end of October, so you
got some time.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
To get in.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I wouldn't hesitate though, get on and make that donation,
and while you're there, pick up some cool stuff for
the holidays at Minards.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Again.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
I always love those those you mentioned, those those giant
inflatable skeletons.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Those things are so darn cool.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
They are very very neat and they've got a little
bit of something for everyone at the Minards stores again.

Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
