Speaker 1 (00:10):
Sometimes the vowels change up on the name Larsen, but
it's l A R S O N home Services dot com.
That's Larsenomeservices dot com. Telphone number six O eight five
three five forty three forty three. That's five three five
forty three forty three. And joining us this morning from
larsenome Services is Andrew Larson. Andrew, how you doing this week?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
You know, I'm always doing fantastic. I do know that,
and I like that. I don't even know what else
to say. It's a great day, it's fall. Yeah, the
Badgers one, the Packers one. You know, I loved it
when you said Larson with an oh yo, you got
you got very Wisconsin Aska on that one.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah, there's no mistaken, there's no mistaking.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
No, not at all. I was just up. I was
up in Canada to fishing a couple of weeks ago. Yeah.
And the lady is like, hey, where are you from?
I said Wisconsin. She's like, oh, little Canada. Yeah, we
like you guys. You sound just like us. We do.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
It's funny too, because you know, we all kind of
have this. In the further north, it gets a little thicker.
I know, my wife is from Spooner, you're from the
Baldwin area originally, and you start getting up that way,
it gets a little bit more and a little bit more,
and it's a very comfortable accent as well. And you know, Andrew,
we started this conversation off you mentioned of course you're
always always happy and always in a good mood. And
(01:33):
I think part of it has to do with what
we're going to talk about, which is really solving problems
and significant problems, which are gutters. And people don't always
realize this about all the different jobs that gutters do
for your home. But also people don't always think about
the safety concerns about about you know, climbing on ladders
and those things. These are real dangers and you are
(01:54):
able to each and every day at Larstom Services remove
that danger, remove that issue of gut problems, because you
guys do a lot of fantastic gutter specifically gutter shutter
as well with Larslom Services. Let's talk a little bit
about gutters this morning, Andrew.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
We do. We do a lot of them. Yes, you know,
gutters are one of my favorite things. I never thought
growing up that I would be like the gutter guy, right.
I think I told you the story about my daughters
and her friends being like, oh, we want to be
on your commercials. You can call us the gutter girl.
I'm not going to do that. But it was innocent, right,
But you know, and I don't like to scare people
(02:29):
about ladder safety ladder accidents, but you know, about three
years ago, I was in a pretty bad snowboarding accident.
I busted my leg up, real bad acl MCL broken
tibia all in one full swoop. I mean, this tree
jumped out of nowhere and when I hit it, it
didn't move. So yeah, but I'm at the doctor and
we're talking and he asked me what I do and
(02:51):
I tell him who I am, and he goes, oh,
my gosh, I listened to your radio show every week.
I was like, wow, people listen. That's cool. And we
started talking about it and he goes, you know what you
should do? He goes, you should have me on the show. Well.
He is an orthopedic surgeon. Specializing in obviously broken bones,
and he goes, he goes people cleaning their gutters. He goes,
(03:16):
specifically in the fall time. He goes, I am so
busy from ladder falls, from people cleaning their gutters, and
hunters falling out of tree stands. But he said, the
overwhelming majority of my surgeries in the fall and into
the winter are from people cleaning out their gutters. And
I said, for real, He just looks at me. He goes,
(03:38):
absolutely broken ankles, broken wrists, broken, show you name it.
He said, so many people take these ladders out. These
ladders aren't safe. They haven't used him in years. I mean,
I've seen people pull out wood ladders that were probably
whittled by somebody sitting on the porch in the nineteen twenties,
and I'm like, you're gonna get on that. But to them,
(03:58):
you know whatever, it's a ladder. I'm going to clean
the gut. So the safety. Listen, how good it is
for your home to have a great gutter system that's
maintenance free, that gets the water away, that protects your
foundation is extremely important. But to have a system like
gutter shutter that's never going to clog, it's never going
(04:18):
to overflow. Bottom line is you don't have to worry
about it. Now. It brings into a safety aspect. You're
not getting up on that ladder because here's the deal.
You can think you can do it, but if you're
sitting behind a desk most of the day, or let's
just say you're not doing contractor or construction work, working
(04:40):
on a ladder on a regular basis, there are very
specific safety things that we teach over and over and over.
How the ladder goes up, how far above the roofline
the ladder goes at, what angle those ladder legs are
down on the ground so the ladder doesn't fall backwards
from the top or slip out from the bottom. This
(05:00):
is what normally happens to people because they're not used
to doing it. This is literally something we train on
on a weekly basis is ladder safety, ladder safety, ladder safety.
Going through every single ladder in our inventory, which I
will tell you there's over three hundred ladders at Mushem Services,
going through those ladders on a weekly basis to see
(05:22):
if anything is cracked, broke, not working properly, because if
it is, we take it out, it's out of service. Immediately,
so homeowners aren't doing that. And even though they might
not use the ladder that much, over time, things happen,
things where things corrode, maybe you've dropped it something, and
now you're getting up there, you could be you could
(05:44):
only be five feet off the ground with your feet.
If it's first story, most likely your feet are probably
only five or six feet off the ground. That's where
we that's where people see the most falls, the most injuries,
because when it's first story, we're less careful. I'm not
that far up. But if you fall off a ladder
from six feet and your feet get tangled in the ladder,
(06:07):
or you hit the ground wrong, hit a rock, snap
your ankle, like, bad things happen. We don't hear about
a lot of injuries from people falling from second story
because they don't get injured. Unfortunately, they usually die. Yeah right,
and I don't even want to say that, but that's
usually what happens. If you're falling from fifteen feet and
you fall onto concrete or you fall onto your rocks
(06:29):
and your landscaping or something like, you usually don't make it.
And unfortunately, me being in this industry for yeah, like
twenty five years now. I know a handful of people
that had family members die from them cleaning their gutters,
So we talk about the safety aspect. It's extremely important
to think about the safety aspect. So when you're only
(06:51):
considering the cost, I mean, what's the cost of an injury,
a surgery being out like it's there's no cost you
can put on it. Now, you take the fact that
it makes your home look beautiful. Gutter shutter is a
full five and a half inch back on it, five
and a half yep. So if your FACI is old,
(07:11):
if your fac is dirty, if it's not looking the best,
if it's wood and maybe it's chipping a little, our
gutters are going to cover it. We're going to cover
ninety percent of your facial So it's going to give
your home a brand new, beautiful, clean look, all while
giving you a gutter system that takes the water from
the roof down the down spout away from the house
and you really never have to think about it ever again.
(07:33):
And that's why I love it when people get this
put on, and I love it when my sales reps
stop back at people's houses then have it, because it's
always great things that they have to say about what
they did.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
It's amazing to me too, is you know, we talk
about the benefits of gutter shutter and you know, not
having to maintain you know, don't have to worry about
cleaning gutters. You have to worry about clog, you have
to worry about all that stuff. And those are and
they look great as well. And those are obviously the
very tans. And you mentioned it here and I remember
it's probably about fifteen ten, fifteen years ago the first
time you had mentioned it, and it really sunk in
(08:07):
when you talked about injuries specifically where people are getting hurt,
which is the first story stuff. And you know, I've
got like a ranch home or a lot of us,
a lot of us guys go, oh, it's not that high,
and that's where the accidents happen. That's where the mistakes
are happening. That's where the injuries are happening. So for
folks that are are looking, you know, whether it's you
or maybe your significant other, you're going get them off
(08:28):
the ladder. What a great day to give them a
call at Larsenalal Services, have them come out, take a
look at your house, take a look at your gutters.
Help you with a resolution, something you'll never have to
worry about. Talk about the Packers, talk about the Badgers
off to great starts this season. You don't want to
miss a Packer Sunday. You don't want to miss another
Badger game. Up on the ladder. Get into a Larsenal Services.
Give them a call right now. Six oh eight five

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Learn or there.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Also follow them on Facebook, and Andrew, I know, just
real quick about your Facebook your YouTube channel as well.
You guys do put quite a lot of great content.
And you're pretty frequent about about updating stuff as well, there,
aren't you.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
It's a focus, yeah, right, we're always trying to update
with job videos, job site photos. You know there's some
there's some funny posts. Yes, the most recently one I
was like, oh man, but go check it out. But yeah.
I also one last thing I want to finish on
is that I talked last week about procrastinating and don't wait,
(09:34):
don't wait, and you know, typically there's one time a
year that we want we run free installation labor or
one hundred percent off installation labor, and that's during trade
shows in the winter because obviously we're less busy. We're
not less busy right now. But for people listening to
the show, I'm going to extend that free installation labor.
When you call in for an estimate, just say you
(09:55):
heard it on the show, and they'll make sure to
put that in the notes for the estimator when they come.
So if you're listening to the show, you're thinking about it, listen.
It doesn't hurt to get a free estimate. I mean,
obviously we want you to buy from us, and we
hope that you do. Yeah, but you know, if you
if we come out and give you an estimate and
you buy that day, great, If you buy it in
the week, great, If you don't buy at all, it
is what it is. At least you know now you've
(10:17):
seen it up close, you can feel it, touch it,
and you know exactly what it would cost to put
on your house.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And that's such a cool thing. You mentioned that free
installation labor, make sure you mention when you bring them
out from Lars Storm Services. A great day. It's not
going to cause anything to have them take a look
at your house, show you a little bit more, educate
you about gutter shutter and how they can help you
at larget Home Services. That tel for number six so
