digital tablet and I totally.

Forgot it at home today. I'll fill in the you'll
fill it in for me.

you and I don't have any work to do today
because we've got a special guest.

We go we always see too much for each other anyway.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
So now I brought Kayleie Kristowski today, and Kaylee is
one of our.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Rock Star agents. She's a second generation realtor.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
And and she's been in real estate a long time.
Although just in the past two years of actually being
licensed agent, she's done thirty six transactions.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Wow. Well, welcome to the show, Kally. Good to see you.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Thank you. I actually didn't even know that I've done
thirty six years. Thanks.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Thanks for me absolutely.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
One of the things that always amazes me about Matt
is is data is when it comes to like if
it's if it's like a hard number Matt's but names,
you know, I could also yeah, Chickatowski. Was that the
one that you get a lot on the on the phone.
So we're gonna, yeah, we're gona talk with Kallie a
little bit about about her her background or experience at

(01:45):
Rock Realty. As a matter of fact, also as we
talk about homes sold, also homes listed in Kaytlie, You've
got a great house here down in Janesville on Blaine Avenue.
And I am surprised by a number of things. One
that this house is for sale right now, because I
look at the price. I look at the details and
I'm going, Wow, this thing is going to fly off shelf.

(02:05):
Let's talk about this house at eight oh six Blaine
Avenue in Jansville, Kyley. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
I mean it's a gorgeous home. The wife she works
in insurance. The husband is a plumber, so really great sellers.
They've taken really great care of this property. They did
a new roof, air conditioning unit, front gutters, a garage door,
along with a ton of other updates. I mean, this
house is just gorgeous. Both bedrooms and bathroom are on
the upstairs level. It's a perfect, you know home for Yeah,

(02:30):
it's amazing it is.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
And Matt when you look at a house like this
as well, Cape Cod just it's got that really classic
look to it. As Caylie was kind of laying out
some of those details as well. This one isn't going
to be on the market long, is it.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
I wouldn't think so, I mean to be able to
find some maybe it's a listed two hundred and nineteen nine.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, it started with a two and it's the low
twos too.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, two bedroom, one bath and you know, pretty large.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Bedrooms actually pretty nice size it's just kind of perfect
for you know, first time home buyers. People wanted to downsize.
I mean, heck I would, I would consider it to
even rent out.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
I had a friend growing up. Her her dad was
a plumber, and the one thing I will tell you
about their house exquisite when it came to everything always
flushed properly, everything drained.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
From really hot water was like that. That's a selling
point as well. And as mentioned, we've got We've got
Kaylee Kristowski at Kristowski, How did I do?

Speaker 5 (03:28):
You did?

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Good?

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yes, joined us this morning from Rock Real Tea, and
let's talk a little bit about about you, Kaylee. I
I know your mom's been on the program. It's a
family a family thing, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I mean my parents have been in real estate for
god what, probably over a decade now, yeah, something like that.
I mean my parents bought their first rental when they
were nineteen, which is actually the home that I own now,
so I bought my childhood home. They you know, have
been in real estate with doing tolls and then my
mom got her broker's license not too long ago. My
dad's also an agent. My brother's girlfriend is an agent.

(04:06):
My PO was an agent for a while, so it
is a whole family affair and we all work for
Rock Realty.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Does mat ever feel like the odd man out here?
It feels like what.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I'm searching for things and I type in Christowski. There's
a lot of names that pop up.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Actually there are in oldest of seven.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Yeah, wow, youngest is three.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
That isn't busy, And so I'm guessing that you've probably
already put in the three year old to work somewhere
around me.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah, we're working remotely.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Earlier.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
And so as we talk Kelly a little bit about
kind of your area where you work. Obviously we talked
about Janesville, get into Dane County as well.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Oh god, I go all over. I mean I sold
the property in Choboygan a couple months ago. Yeah, Portage, Bearaboo.
I mean, wherever the paycheck will take me, I will go.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
So how does that work too with folks that are
and I know, one of the great things about Roy
Rock Realty is all the great resources and all the
great tools, and whether whether it's folks that are listing
their home and really getting a great reach for exposure
for that home, or people looking to buy how does
it work somebody coming to you and say, you know,
we've worked with Rock Realty in the past, we're looking
to move up to Sheboygan, for example. Do they come

(05:17):
to you and say, we really we trust what you do.
We'd like to maybe have you be our agent, even
if it's not an area that that traditionally people think,
oh Rock Realty, Dane Rock, Jefferson County. Is that is
that kind of how that establishes itself?

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Yeah, I mean, for instance, the property in Sheboygan was
my high school friend right now for a while, and
so you know, he moved up there from Janesville, wanted
to eventually purchase a property. So he had called me,
which I so appreciate, you know, because not being from
the area. I actually have a client yesterday who asked
me if I would be willing to go far up
north to buy him a property in the boondocks. Nice.

(05:51):
So I told him, I was like, you know, for
the right property, I'll come up there.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
There are some great areas if you've got to spend
some time exploring northern Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
The boondocks of northern Wisconsin not a bit.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
That zip code.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
But yeah, I think I've mentioned my wife is from Spooner,
so I'm a little I get quite familiar with the men.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
I was, Oh, yeahle Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Y Oh, it's it's beautiful up there.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
So as we talk about and Katlee, one of the
things I've noticed right away about you is very much
a people person, very very friendly, and I've got to
guess that that that that it's a really good quality
to have.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
What do you like most about working at Rock Realty?

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Oh, gosh, I mean our culture. I feel like we're
a very close brokerage. We do a ton of events
and probably on like a monthly basis, we all get together.
We've got a group chat that blows up every single
so we are If I get any notifications, it's from
the Rock Realty group chat.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Yeah, it's busy, you know, whether it's questions or congratulations
or happy birthday, it's a it's a good time every day.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
And we've talked about and I know on a future
show we're gonna you're gonna revisit this topic as well. Uh,
if you are listening to the program right now, and
you are whether you're dissatisfied with your current current role
at an agency or maybe even thinking about becoming a
real estate agent or anything I have to do with
the real estate.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Matt.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
You guys are always always looking for new people, aren't you.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
We're looking to fill a few spots.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
I mean, ideally we're looking for people that are full
time or are really truly looking to get into full
time for this, because it is it is a lot
handling in a real estate and handling a pipeline.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
It takes a full time effort.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It is, and it's a great team too. Is Another
great thing is that you know, we think about obviously
as agents the front facing folks that are out there,
but there's also folks at the office and doing other things.
And you talk about a really good, really good area
to you know, a really good company to be working
for and having a lot of support. Of course, Rock
Realty definitely want to check the mic. You learn more
online the website Rock Wisconsin dot com. That's Rock ro

(07:48):
O c K Wisconsin dot com. You mentioned in some
of the notes Keley a fan of Door County, but
you also really want to.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Get to Greece. What's that? What's the story there?

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Oh man? I mean I feel like everybody wants to
go to Green Yeah, it's on everyone's populous. I've never
actually went out of the country.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Oh you've never No, No.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
I'm hoping to possibly next year. I haven't flown since
I was three, and I'm flying for the first time
next month.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Well there you go. Well we do have a rock
Realty incentive trip.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Yeah, Matt qualified for so let's hope that she can
make that.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Is it Mexico this year the Bahamas, We're going to
switch to Poota Kana PoTA Kana.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yes, mad Man, Man, I know a radio guy that
would love to just if you need any help down there,
you go the.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Room and yeah, happened to be available.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That's exactly talk this morning with Matt Heypman and Kaylee
Chaikowski Prestowski, you know for folks, little peak behind the
scenes before we came on the air this morning. I
got the name right, and then I said, if I
get it right on air, people are going to get suspicious.
People are gonna think something's up. We've got We've got

(08:59):
a mess that up a little bit here and there.
When we talked too about working in real estate. One
of the things I love is is hearing about challenges
and issues, you know, as much as what do they
always say the best laid plans of mice and men,
those type of things. There's going to be some challenges
in life. And we were talking earlier about the great
team at Rock Realty and the great support staff as well.

(09:21):
And as agents, you encounter things from time to time
as well when it comes to challenges, and there's always
great stories about kind of how that was overcome. And Kayleie,
I know you've got a story as well about a
challenge you had run into and how you really worked
through and really got got a successful outcome on that one.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Yeah. So you know, I'm a little bit younger. I'm
twenty four. I'll be twenty five here in a couple months.
So one of my biggest challenges that I think I
encounter from time to time is people seeing me pull
up and they're a little a little stunned when they
see me exit the car.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
But you know, contrary to my age, I feel like
I come with quite a bit of experience from my family.
You know, my parents are licensed contractors here in Wisconsin.
I've worked for the construction company. I bought a fix
your Upper three years ago, and I am doing all
the projects myself.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
She does amazing.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Things really look amazing. That's awesome.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
Yeah. I mean I've done a staircase demolition and rebuild.
I have done an inground fire pit, Florida ceiling, you know,
electric fireplace wall, I am new flooring. I mean the
list goes on and on.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Does that help to have I mean having that experience
and that now know how I think of, if you know,
working with you as an ancient as well help people
kind of identify things that that may need a little work.
I think of when I bought my first home. There
is a there is some truth to ignorance is bliss.
There's also something when you're making possibly most likely the
biggest purchase in your life, having as much information as possible.

(10:47):
I've got a guess having that experience and that knowledge
goes a real long way working with working with clients
and finding that that perfect home for them.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Oh yeah, I mean A great example is just two
days ago, I was at a showing a property we
actually got under contract yesterday or a but the it
was a quick flip and they had used grout and
instead of silicon cock where it should be used, so
you know, educated my buyers. Hey, this is the first
thing I want you guys to do. As soon as
you close, I will even come over and help you.
You know, there's just there's a lot of very small

(11:16):
things that can lead to bigger issues in a home
that need to be addressed.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Are you able also to help for folks that may
be looking maybe there's somebody who's who's handy, is maybe saying,
you know what, I want that fixer upper. I've got
to guess your experience as well, having done it yourself.
That's got to go a long way as well, doesn't it.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Yeah, I mean I can give them estimated prices of
what things are going to cost because I've done them myself.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Well, that is very very cool. Also sold fixer.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Uppers, yep, that work, and so she's able to kind
of explain different things.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
That is absolutely amazing.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
As we talked this morning with the team from Rock Realty,
of course you can learn more online Rock Wisconsin dot com.
That's our o c K Wisconsin dot com. Continue our
conversation with man Kaylee. We'll talk a little bit more
about working at Rockrealty, what that's like. Well, so get
some more information on this week's feature listening. We'll do
all of that so much more in just a moment
in the Metif you having a chance to check out
the website Rock Wisconsin dot com. That's our ock Wisconsin

(12:12):
dot com. That's rock Wisconsin dot com. More of ask
the experts with Rockrealteam. Next right here on thirteen ten
double UiB I eight forty eight thirteen ten w i
b A talking with Matt Heidman and Kaylie Kristowski of
Rockrealty online Rockwisconsin dot com. That's Rock r Ock Wisconsin
dot com. Talking a little bit about Kelly getting to

(12:33):
know her mention the feature listing this week, it's right
in James Filt's a really really nice house at eight
oh six Blaine Avenue. Telephone number to call if you
want to set up a listing a six oh eight
three two two ninety eight fifty five. That's six oh
eight three two two ninety eight fifty five. And as
we've talked about Kylee, of course a second generation real

(12:54):
estate agent at Rockrealteam. Matt, obviously not every agent comes
through those channels. Let's talk about kind of what you
guys at at Rock Realty when it comes to finding
the right agent.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
How do you guys go about that?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, I mean it's a tough thing to do.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
I mean, just like any business when when you hire people,
you know they tend to say the right thing, Yes
they do, but you know, whether or not they have
the work ethic to do it, it's a different thing.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
And you know, you have to be able to connect
with people. You have to just kind of keep pushing forward.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Even if they're struggles, you know, because it is a
commission based situation, right, so you have to have the
right people with the right opportunity. And I think that
we try to blend that opportunity in there so that
everybody has that. I mean, Kaylee started working a full
time job and was already doing full time production.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
And since then she's she's left that, so, I mean,
the opportunity.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Is there to become successful. And she had eighteen closings
her first year.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
One of the things I find interesting, and I think
we've probably all known somebody in our life it's like,
I want to do real estate and they kind of
jump in, and I think a lot of folks think, like,
it's got to be easier, it's got to be It
really takes a special person to be successful in real estate,
doesn't it.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Yeah, it does, especially if you're not going to go
all in, right, if you're not going to just jump
in full time and say, you know what, I'm going
to make this work.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
You know, it's pretty difficult.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
And we've only had a handful of people that have
successfully transitioned from a full time job into real estate
by slowly getting there. You kind of have to have
a full pipeline in order to be able to get
paid as a full time agent. Absolutely, so we do
our best to fill everybody's pipeline, but whether or not
they're able to put in enough effort in time is
a whole different thing.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
And it's a fantastic you know, we talk about working
with working with the folks at Rock Realty, and you know,
we've had a chance to get to know some of
the agents over the years, and of course get to
meet with Matt each and every week. It's a really
really great company and they really do great stuff for
their clients and again great stuff as well for their employees.
For somebody that's looking to make that commitment, and Kaylee,
I want to ask a little bit about that commitment

(14:54):
and kind of what a day in the life of
a real estate agent is like and I've got to
guess what's to be one of the great features of
being a real estate agent. So there's probably not a
quote unquote typical date. They're all kind of unique, aren't they.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Yeah, I mean every single day is different. You will
be meeting with contractors, some days doing seven showings, another
day no showings. The following day, sure, I mean Saturday,
for example, seven showings. Sunday I got I think three showings,
wrote two offers which both got accepted. Yesterday, God, yesterday
I met with a contractor showings. Today after this I'm

(15:29):
going to showings. So, I mean, it's amazing though, and
I really appreciate being busy. I appreciate all my clients,
so I wouldn't want it any other way.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
What is an open house? What goes into doing an
open house for a listing?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Yeah, depends on the agent. I will pronounce all of
my lm LAS sheets, my real estate condition reports, you know,
any additional information on the property. Some people will bake
cookies them, bring the open houses, bring waters, you know.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
But Kaylee tends to do a lot of video to
which I really, oh really, she's really good on social media,
little fun shorts, and I mean she's had ones. Where
wasn't it buyer clients jumping through your sun roof on the.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
That's great, really good stuff. What about it?

Speaker 1 (16:12):
And Matt we talked about that when it comes to
like open houses and deciding that how what what Matt
works then for? Like which houses do those or is
that something you work with the with the homeowner?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
How does that? How does that stuff happen?

Speaker 4 (16:23):
I mean, it all depends on the house, depends on
the market, depends on the location. You know, there are
some places that just naturally won't do well with an
open house because they're out in the country. It takes
a drive to get there, right, there's other places there
and such busy roads. The open house can can you know,
the signs themselves can pull in people, but otherwise you're
kind of relying on the MLS and the internet sites

(16:46):
to tell people about the open house. We do, we
do run paid ads for our open houses to try
to you know, procure as many visitors as you can.
But yeah, it all depends on timeframe too. Sometimes we'll
do it Thursday night. Other times it'll be just Sunday afternoon,
like normal schedule that around the packer game, of course.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Yeah, and Katlee, it's got to be a benefit too
for you as a as a younger agent, as we've
you know, as even in my lifetime, I've seen just
as as an observer, kind of a different approach to
real estate. It used to be very much like people
would drive around and they go to see these homes.
So much is done online. And I think of people
in their in their twenties and thirties that that's really

(17:27):
the online world is really second nature to them. I've
got to guess having that, you know, your age, has
got to be a great benefit to really marketing online
some of these houses.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
Yeah, And I mean that kind of goes back to
my videos as well. My demographic is more on social media.
I'm not on TikTok. I might eventually be talk. My
siblings are on it, so I kind of refuse to
do that.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah, that's like the old Facebook for us. Yeah, now
we're on Facebook, I hear.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
I remember when Facebook was like new and hip and
like it and people. When Facebook first became a thing,
you needed an invite, like you.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Need somebody meeting.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
It was a big deal.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
You need to know somebody.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Mark Zuckerberg's.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Wife and kids, Mark said thank you for joining.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yes, remember Tom on my space what he's up to
you my space at all I.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Know of it, but.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yes, at this point it is yes, it is yes.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
It is talking this morning with Kley and Matt of
course of Rock Realty online Rock Wisconsin dot com.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
That's our o c K Wisconsin dot com.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Talking a little bit about getting to know Keley, a
little bit about being an agent at Rock Realty. Don't
forgets we mentioned uh Rock Roca Wisconsin dot com. Not
like if you approve things, if you are if you're
looking to list as well, you can start that start
that conversation there as well. And uh we talked earlier
about northern Wisconsin and and uh selling and looking to
buy houses up there. Specifically, you mentioned Greece as Kelly

(18:57):
as a place you'd like to visit. How about here
in Wisconsin do you have like a favorite getaway kind
of place that like a little an area They say,
you know what, if anybody's looking to buy a second home,
this is the part of the state or the part
of the area that you want to be looking at.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
I love Dora County. I was just there in July.
I try to go once a year at least kind
of just my nice little sanctuary away from the busyness.
I usually don't have phone service when I'm up there,
and I actually I really love that.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
I have anxiety. Yeah, it's gonna say. Matt's like, No, I.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
Usually coordinate with my clients and I let them know
them on ahead of schedule. Hey, you know I'm going
to have no service to the hotel room. Yes at night,
but no, I mean us realtors, we are constantly on
our phones. That's where the hub is for our work.
So sometimes it's nice to detach a little bit and
get a reset.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Is that one of the things?

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Just one final thing too, before we get back to
this week's feature listening, I do want to ask you
about is. Obviously, phones are everywhere and they're great tools
and other things.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
It has changed.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
All works, work, walks of life when it comes to
to work being in a real estate agent. I've got
to guess one of the things. And I don't know
if this is a plus a minus, but I think
for some people they love it is you never know
what what your schedule is going to look like any
given week. Got this is We're not talking nine to
five Monday through Friday, are we.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
No, No, not at all. I mean you can start
your morning thinking there's going to be no showings that day. Yeah,
and all of a sudden, you have four clients. Your
entire day is filled up.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Do you get like ever get like random clients just
calling saying we just saw a house. We were just
you know, over the weekend, we were visiting a friend
and we saw this house with a sign out front.
