Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thirteen ten WIBA and asked the experts brought you by
Rock Realty. This week, we're going to be talking about
opportunities at Rockrealty. Head on over to the website my
rockstar Job dot com. That's my rockstar job dot com.
Of course, we're talking about why work at Rock Realty
and what makes them different in joining us this morning
(00:20):
from Rockrealty, mister Matt Heyman, Matt, how you doing this week?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Doing good? Thanks, Sean, It's good to see you.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And we've got some really really cool things to talk
about about Rock Realty. And over the years we've had
some folks that have worked at Rock Realty. One of
the things I've always loved about getting a chance to
interview and meet with agencies. How happy they all seem
to be. And I know we're going to get into
culture a little bit later on in this segment, but
that is an important part. It's like, you guys, little
(00:46):
little disclosure, you do work hard at Rock Realty, but
you guys also play hard to us.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Well, they say, yet we've got very personal realtors. Yes,
and we definitely all enjoy being together, working together, kind
of working hard together, but all so, you know, having
a good.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Time and that's and that's it's so cool to see that.
And for folks that are in the you know, if
you're if you're that type of person, whether you've got
experience or maybe uh, maybe you're looking to get experience,
they've got opportunities for you. At Rockrealty. I mentioned that
website my rockstar job dot com. That's my rockstar job
dot com. You can learn about career opportunities right there.
You can also call Matt his telephone number six O
(01:22):
eight three four seven forty one ninety six at six
eight three four seven forty one ninety six. And Matt,
you're really looking for, you know, for some you know,
the really the right person. And when it comes to that,
let's talk about what you guys offer at Rock Realty
a little bit. We talked a little bit about the culture,
but let's talk about some of those other aspects as well.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Absolutely, So, you know, when we first started the firm,
we really didn't have a template right, kind of came
up with what we thought a real estate firm should
look like. And so when we're looking through the different
aspects that make up a real estate arokerage, we came
up with kind of culture, opportunity and support right culture,
(02:05):
making sure that we have the right agents with the
right mindset and a great group of people working together. Opportunity,
making sure that we had the opportunity for agents to
find success even if they happened to be new or
maybe their experienced already and just looking to grow their business.
And then support right that includes both training and having
(02:30):
you know, the right people on the back end to
answer questions to be able to be available and have
those answers, and that continuing kind of education throughout.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
You know. One of the things is we're kind of
are going to dig in a little bit to the
culture at Rock Realty. One of the things that you
mentioned there though, that I think is important is is
you're not like modeled after something. There wasn't like a
I think you use the term blueprint. There wasn't like a, well,
this is how this insurance agency or this insurance it's
real estate agency worked or insurance agency. It doesn't matter
what the agency. This is all this company works. We're
(03:01):
going to model ourselves after this. You guys really kind
of approached this with a fresh slate and really said,
let's find find some things that can make this a
unique and special place. Let's talk about that culture at
Rock Realty.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, we wanted to kind of take the best from
what we saw out there, right. You know, we saw
some amazing culture from different teams out there, and we
saw some really good opportunity in other areas, right as
far as as lead flow and such, and so we
we built it ourselves, you know, We you know, had
(03:33):
our bumps, our bruis as we learned, you know, and
we figured out, you know, what the best ROI was
on opportunity, and we figured out, you know, kind of
which agents really do well in our culture and which
which maybe not so much, right, And yeah, we we've
developed that over time. I think we've built something special culture.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Related, right. I think we have a collaborative kind.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Of supportive environment where agents lift each other up, right,
And when you have enough opportunity in a in a
real estate firm, it's not commission based as much it is.
It's you know, it's more of a team and more
of a family where everybody has the opportunity and everybody
wants to see all ships rise.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I know we're going to talk about about the support
that you guys offer at Rock Realty. But but that
does kind of go hand in hand with that culture
as well. Is when we think about opportunities, there's when
there's enough to go around, there's there's not that need
for a cutthroat is like, exactly, maybe I'm not the
perfect agent for this client. I I've got another agent
in the office that I could say, I I refer you.
(04:32):
I know somebody that's going to be perfect for you.
And and and that's not only great for folks and
as we're talking this morning about career opportunities at Rock Realty, uh,
it's also great for your clients as well as is
having having an agent that can be hey, you know what,
maybe maybe I'm not perfect. I know somebody though that
that would work really well for you.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, I mean everybody in real estate is such a
huge thing to know, and everybody is going to have
spots that they're just not as familiar with. So having
that team mentality of being able to communicate with everybody
else on the team saying have you seen this is important.
But also just having the sport of people there's you know, hey,
you know, I'm really am deathly sick.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I'm not able to do these showings.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
And having all these agents willing to step up and
help those those other teammates out.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
It's just fantastic. I love seeing it.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
The cool thing. I know behind the scenes, you guys
do a lot of get togethers, And I was going
to say, you guys do a lot of meetings too,
but you guys also do like obviously there's there's informational
sharing ones, but you guys also have have fun as well,
don't you.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, we try to do an event once per month
at a minimum, right, So we may go up to
pin seekers and golf. We may go out to shoesters
farm and go pick some pumpkins. We may do some
acts throwing.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
We try to.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
We try to mix it up throughout the throughout the year,
and every month have something different going on. And you know,
it's a chance for you know, a lot of the
agents to get together, get to know each other and
build that culture even more.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
And you guys also collaborate as far as just our
regular contact about insights, information, those type of things. I
know you guys have like a great chat platform and
other things. And you guys are meeting together regularly as well,
aren't you.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah, Yeah, we definitely have weekly meetings and such. But
having that group chat for questions, concerns, help. It's been
been important. It's key to really staying connected with everybody.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Talking this morning with Matt Heytman of Rock Realty. Of course,
if you are looking for a career, they'd love to
talk with you. You can learn more s head on
over to the website my rockstar job dot com. That's
all one word, my rockstar job dot com. You can
also pick a phone call Matt six oh eight three
four seven forty one ninety six. That's three four seven
forty one ninety six. You mentioned the monthly get togethers
(06:40):
and events. You guys also do an annual thing which
is again, I will put this out there and every
time I talk with you on and off the air
about this, I put this out. If you ever need
somebody to tag along on your guys' annual adventure, I'm
your guy. Let's talk about your yearly your yearly excursions
you guys do.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, we do have an all inclusive trip for qualifying agents.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
We we make it very attainable.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You know, essentially, if you've if you've got a pretty
full time production, you can qualify for this thing, which
is fantastic. We wanted to make sure that it, uh
you know, everybody that's putting in the effort could could
make it on the trip.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
And it's it's really neat.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
We've we've been to uh, you know, kane Kun a
couple of times. We've been to Putakana a couple of times,
you know, include the flight and include the all inclusive resort,
and we just have a blast, whether or not we're
playing volleyball on the beach or we're just hanging out
and doing some salsa dancing.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
How much fun is that? Is great? A great opportunity,
I feel. And by the way, they'll teach you to
sell the dance.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah right, well that it is just wiggle the hips
a little and we call it good.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
It's good enough for sure. On that website, my rockstar
job dot com. That's my rockstar job dot com. Let's
talk then about you know, we've talked about the culture
and what a great environment it is to work, and
let's talk then about opportunity. And this is a big
thing in real estate, is really leads and other things.
This really are that these are really the things that
(08:07):
make the magic happen, aren't they?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Absolutely, I would say this above all else, even though
our culture is amazing, above all else, this is this
is what sets us apart, you know, we you know,
we learned early that the best way to help our
seller clients is to bring in the most buyer clients
that we can, right, and so we advertised online a lot. Well,
at this point we are one of the preferred firms
(08:31):
Indan County, Rock County, and Jefferson County for Realtor dot Com.
And we've got exclusive contracts with Realtor dot Com and
they send us over live clients.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
So our agents they have an app and they get
notified and it says, hey, I've got this client, Sean Preeble,
he's on the phone. He's looking at edutant between three
hundred thousand and four hundred thousand. Would you like to
would you like to assist? And they can either decide, hey,
I'm busy right now, I'm not gonna be able to
take that, or they can claim the lead. And so
this has been an amazing opportunity to fill agents plates
(09:03):
when you.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Know it might be slow.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Let's say they're they're newer. Let's say you know most
of their existing clients, you know, just bought and they're
ready to fill their plates.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
So it's good.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
For not only new agents, but it's good for agents
that are already productive that are looking to remain productive,
especially over like the winter months.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
And we're talking hundreds of buyer and sellar leads here.
We're talking about substantial not.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Yeah, I'd say three three to four hundred clients coming
in per month, whether or not those are live transfers
or just email inquiries, and our agents get to work
those and convert them into clients. And we've got great agents,
so you know, it's it's it's always neat to see
that that transition happen.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Talking this morning with Matt Heyman of Rock Realty. If
you are interested in a career at Rock Realty, like
start that conversation, head on over to the website my
rockstar job dot com. That's my rockstar job dot com.
't's pick up pone, Get mad at call six oh
eight three four seven forty one ninety six. That's six
oh eight three four seven forty one ninety six. Speaking
(10:01):
of some numbers and leads the website. That's no slouch. Yeah,
get a lot of action on the website as well,
don't you.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Yeah, we've been doing it for you know, over seventeen
years now, and so as you know, clients will come
back and you know, let's say every five to seven years,
they're looking for a house again. Right, So we've got
just a number of leads in the system. I think
we have over forty thousand different leads in a system
that are that are you know, actively looking on our website.
(10:28):
You know, even when you're you're not shopping for a home,
you know, you're still browsing. So it's neat to have
all of these people returning to our website and to
our system and just you know, feeling comfortable and choosing
Rock Realty as kind of their brokerage moving forward.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
So really we talk about you know, the culture, which
is amazing, and part of what makes that culture so
amazing is everybody's got opportunities. Everybody that's working hard is
getting getting rewarded for that hard work. And speaking of
rewards for hard work, I know, as you're in starts
to roll around, we look towards the holidays and a
little extra thank you, a little extra something oftentimes isn't there.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Yeah, we wanted to set something up because you know,
especially with you know, November December being a little slower
for real estate because most people are concentrating on the holidays. Yeah,
years ago, we decided we would do a kind of
a holiday bonus too, so we offer that to our agents,
you know, in December, so that they can they can
buy some gifts.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
That's fantastic and again you can get more details. Been
looking to start a career with Rockrealty. All I got
to do is head on over the website my rockstar
job dot com. That's my rockstar job dot com. Maybe
you're saying, got the right personality. I've got the right drive,
but I don't know how to sell real estate. I
don't know how to help folks buy in real estate. Well,
they've got training for you. We'll talk a little bit
(11:42):
about that, as well as the other support that they
offer at Rock Realty. We'll do all of that and
so much more as asked the experts with the Rock
Realty continues here on thirteen ten. WIBA, don't forget about
that website my rockstar job dot com. Telephone number from
at six oh eight three four seven forty one ninety six.
That's three four seven forty one ninety six. More have
asked the experts with Rock Realty next right here on
(12:03):
thirteen ten double U IBI thirteen ten double u I
b A and asked the experts with Rock Realty talking
this week about some great opportunities to work at Rockrealty.
If you are looking to start a career, head on
over to the website my rockstar job dot com. That's
my rockstar job dot com. You can also give Matt
Heyman a phone call six so eight three four seven
(12:25):
forty one ninety six. That's six so eight three four
seven forty one ninety six. So we talked about how
great the culture is at Rockrealty. We talked about all
the different opportunities that folks experience working at Rockrealty, things
like leads and other opportunities as far as bonuses and things.
What about you know, not everybody you know, there's people
that have, you know, really good, really good skills, but
(12:49):
maybe they haven't learned how to do real estate. I
think one of the great things about about Rock Realty,
Matt is for the right person, you guys offer training
and it doesn't stop after like the first couple of months.
There's there's continuing education and you really work to empower
your agents, don't you.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Yeah, yeah, it's important to make sure that you know
how to do your job.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yes, So yeah, uh.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
You know, for the first six months that an agent
is with the firm, they are partnered with a mentor.
We have I think seven or eight now licensed brokers
within the firm and we will partner with them mentor
so that they can either you know, understand a little
bit more on how to transact in real estate, or
if they're already experienced, just understand the systems, right because
there's a lot of new, new fangled systems out there, right.
(13:31):
And you know, we also do other items, you know,
throughout a month and throughout the week, like, for instance,
on Wednesday's Mike Collins, my business partner, he'll he'll go
over compliance items, he'll go over maybe things I have
to do with the MLS. He's a previous president of
the board on the MLS, and so a lot of
(13:52):
times we're you know, quite far ahead of different changes
that are coming down the road.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I didn't know that about, Mike.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yeah, that's that's that's kind of a big deal.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
That is that is really really very cool. The other
thing too, Matt, and I know you very much and
I always consider myself to be a techie. You are
a light years ahead of me when it comes to
embracing technology. And one of the great benefits of that
is developing tools and other things, online tools and web
based stuff that help folks that are learning real estate
(14:22):
and understanding how to better serve their clients. You guys
have some great tools for that as well, don't you.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, we do have an online kind of onboarding system
to kind of walk through the different systems, the CRM
and how to claim live leads right, things like that,
and it's nice to just kind of get a basic
start there and then after that the mentor or Mike
and I can fill in the blanks as they go
through the day to day of actually being a realtor.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
What's that like?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
And I think there's probably two separate and before we
get to that support there's I think there's probably two
separate groups of people. There are those who have worked
real estate before and those that are completely new. What's
that path like? I've got to guess. Even for folks
who have worked real estate in the past, whether they
worked for an agency or maybe they were working part
time or for themselves, and some other I've got to
(15:08):
guess that it's probably pretty eye opening when they start
working with Rock Realty just about all these different tools
and all these all these you know this, a lot
of this stuff is exclusive to Rock Realty and hugely
beneficial not just to the to your clients, but to
your agents as well. I've got a guess for even
folks that have experience in real estate, it's probably it's
pretty amazing when they when they start at Rock Realty,
(15:31):
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, I would say even when you have experience, you know,
obviously there's new systems, there's you know, the ability to
pretty much do anything on the go now. But you know,
beyond that, you know, there's there's things that could be
buttoned up, you know, as far as properly doing the offers,
properly doing amendments, properly doing counteroffers.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
You know, maybe custom addendums.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
You know that Rock Realty has that we've come up
with over the years.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
It's pretty it's it's very very cool. And then also
for new agents, and we've kind of talked a little
bit about that as well as for folks that got
that drive. You guys, you guys definitely have have opportunities
for them. Let's talk then about about the support uh
that that you guys, that you guys provide at uh
at Rock Realty as we kind of work our way
through these different aspects of of what you guys do.
(16:15):
That support is huge, and it's it's an investment as
well and in time and and quite frankly a financial
investment as well in the success of your agents at
Rock Realty.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
I think something else that sets us apart is just, uh,
you know, how readily available the owners are. So Mike
and I, uh, you know, we're available to chat with
any questions, concerns. Hey, maybe you have a suggestion I'm
making things better. We're very open to hearing that and
maybe incorporating some of those those ideas.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
So, yeah, that's important. You know.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
We also have admin staff that you know, gets things
posted on social media, helps with the you know, closing
transaction coordination, uh such and such. You know, so you know,
we try to have everything on the back end to
support agents.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
I also hear a lot of spots that that they
say it now I'm using industry jargon. I hear a
lot of talk on the on the app and other
things on air iHeartRadio and on the radio stations, you
guys promote listings as well, which is which is really
a big deal to get those get those listings exposure,
don't you.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Yeah, it's something I think that's unique to maybe Wisconsin
and maybe even the country. I don't know many real
estate firms that are advertising every single listing on the radio,
but we do that. Right when someone lists with Rock Crealty,
one of our agents gets a new listing, we have
this amazing guy, Sean Preple record, yeah, record an ad
(17:36):
for the radio, and that gets broadcast on podcasts or
gets broadcast on streaming music. It gets broadcast on WIBA
am Z one O four one oh one, five ninety six,
three ninety two to one. We are reaching currently over
three hundred and fifty thousand people in the Madison and
Janesville area per month.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
That is absolutely amazing. And you talk about what that
obviously that's for for Rock Realty. We talk about that's
an investment on your part. The returns all It really
helps helps your agents move houses and really helps your
folks listing and other things get their get the top
dollar for their home as well. One thing too, I
want to ask you about Matt is we talk about
some of the great benefits of working for Rock Realty
(18:18):
and working at Rock Realty is the folks in the background.
And I for folks that don't know, Matt speaks very
highly of the team around him at Rock Realty and
and those those folks and maybe not necessarily agents, but
some of the admin and other folks, really amazing support
staff behind the scenes, isn't there.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, so, you know, having having the proper
admin staff on the back end to quickly get open
houses out there and you know, get advertising those and
and the right partners whether it be lender or title
or insurance. You know, over the years we've we've siphoned
down to the best right and so it's important to
have that team of support.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
One of the things I love about Rock Realty is
is how nimble things as you think about when it
comes to business transactions real estate transactions, having like a
team of folks around you that can really get the
job done. It not only makes things move smoother, but
you know, we talk about competitive markets and other things.
Being those people that are able to kind of get
(19:17):
that job done really really results in success, not just
for agents, but for clients as well.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah, it's important to have streamline processes, but being able
to kind of dodge and weave when necessary, right, so
we have that flexibility you don't have. The corporate overlords
are just a boutique brokers that we've built out the
way we wanted to, and I think our agents do
like the way we built it.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Great culture and amazingly nimble. You can learn more about
career opportunities at rock Realty. Just head on over the
website my rockstar job dot com. That's my rockstar job
dot com. I'd love to talk with you at Rockrealty
again that website my rockstar job dot com. Let's pick
up phone. Give Mat a call six SO eight three
four seven forty one ninety six at six SO eight
(20:01):
three four seven forty one ninety six. Matt, it's always great, Sandy,
enjoy this great day.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yeah, thanks for having me, Sean.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
He comes your way next here on thirteen ten wuib
