really great places to get ideas fordoing a remodel. But think about doing
some remodeling of course. Phone geta call at Edge Construction telephone number six
(00:46):
so eight six three six three threefour three that number six three six Edge
And joining us this morning and studiois Mike two Wing of Edge Construction.
Mike, how you doing this week? Rat Seohn, you got a little
color? Where the heck have youbeen? Well? I went to the
they call it the Internet Biller Show. It's in Vegas, So I went
to Vegas for a couple days lastweek. I did not know you get
(01:07):
so sore from walking. I feellike I walked one hundred miles you know,
on the concrete of the show. For it's a very big show.
I think I walked two days.I talked to fair amount of people.
I probably saw sixty percent of it. Just to give you some kind of
scale of what. Wow, you'reso you really have to almost pair down
and go to areas that really interestyou. Is that in the newer convention
(01:30):
center? I know they Last timeI was out there, they had been
building down by Circus Circus like anew convention center. Is that the other
one? No, I don't knowabout that one. This is the Las
Vegas Convention Center. It's kind ofon the fire end of town, big
silvery thing. Yeah, right, okay, several buildings both sides of the
road they actually built. They actuallybuilt like three houses in a parking lot.
(01:55):
Really. Yeah, you walk throughand see you know, companies probably
showing different things. You know whathappens uh next week when they have to
take this, Yeah, just donatethem to somebody or what. Oh,
that's a good question. You.You and I got a chance to talk
a little bit before the show aboutsome of the some of the interesting and
cool things that are maybe some ofthem not all ready to hit the mass
(02:20):
market, but are definitely on thehorizon. One of the things you were
talking to me about was a cellphone charging or not just cell phone,
but a charging option that's got areally cool integration. What did you what
did you see out there in Vegas, Mikey. Yeah. One of the
funnest things to do is go tothere's an area out there where they have
all of the newer products. AndI always say, like, you know,
are there really any new products orare they like ten percent, like
(02:44):
there's anything new. No, right, there's almost no new idea, so
charge is not new, but doingit this way, sure is. They
there's a little little booth that Iyou know, I saw the product in
the new area and actually judge themand give awards, and they give monetary
awards to Some of these companies arestartups and they're just they need funding,
(03:05):
you know, they need a lotof help, and this one really sounds
great. What they did was theycame up with a product. It's it's
sort of a pad that you mountto the underside of your court's countertop,
and I'm sure it works on granite. The trick is you've got a router
out a spot for it. Sothat's not something that the average person is
going to be able to do,you know, want to do that in
a shop, and so they're they'reshowing us the the end product, the
(03:30):
end users this product. But youmount this underneath your counter top and then
you can charge up to three thingsat once on each pad, so no
cords. Just lay your cell phonedown, lay your laptop down, lay
your earbuds down. Basically, anythingthat's rechargeable, it can charge it.
And it's smart too. It doesn'tovercharge like some of the some chargers that
(03:51):
you know aren't as good, willkeep charging even when things are full,
right, and that's really we knowthat's not really good for anything. Oh
that is very Did you mention toyou. I hear you right there that
it's light like when you initially setyour device down, it lets you know
that yes, indeed it's it's charging, and then the light fades or how
does that? Well, the trickwould be right if you didn't know where
this pad was exactly how do youget your phone in the right spot.
(04:14):
So they built it with an LEDbasically band of light that goes that will
shine through the stone. It's amazinghow much light comes through. So if
you have a cross conta top,put a st flashlight underneath it, you
can see it. I think youcan. It's got an app of course,
like everything else in this world, and you can pick up to like
nine different colors. If that turnsyou on, there you can. You
(04:36):
can set it so that it's it'snever visible, and then when you slide
your phone across your cond of top, then it shows up, so you
know where to put it, andthen it can be on a timer.
Okay, once you find it andput your phone on it, it'll it'll
the circle of light will disappear aftera certain amount of time. So I
thought it was super innovative. Wehave already talked to our cabinet, our
(04:56):
countertop suppliers because we're selling even topeople like us, they're selling to our
suppliers, the counttop suppliers because ofthe installation of it. So coming we
hope. Like I said, wetalked to our two main suppliers and they
seemed pretty open to it. Oneof them was already already kne about the
product. So we're really excited forthat one. That's going to be super
cool when when that's starts getting outthere and available, and of course your
(05:19):
next next remodeling projects. Speaking up, by the way, not only what's
on the horizon, you're also seeingwhat's what's very popular right now. And
you had mentioned some of the finishes. One in particular is definitely all the
bees knees these days. Let's talkabout the Goldie bronze. I didn't realize
(05:39):
it was this popular. Yeah,I know, I've talked before about going
to Actually one of the most funthings to do there is go to the
plumbing supply displays. You know,we've got Cohler right here in Wisconsin,
and that's kind of always been ourstarting point. And there are there are
others. I don't want to mentionnames because we don't use them all the
(06:01):
time. There are a few productswe can't get from Colder that that other
suppliers do provide, and if somebodyreally likes that, we don't have a
problem with that. It's just weknow that product so well. I think
we're in our comfort zone there. But yeah, the walls of fixtures and
every sink seemed to have that,uh, that bronze finish. But it's
(06:24):
it's a subdued bronze. It's abrushed brush type bron So it's not that
gold bronze from I'm just looking aroundthe studio anywhere to be here, it
seems like, yeah, but yeah, it's not the old ugly gold color.
But it's it's got a brush look. It's a very nice look.
And I know that that is clearlygoing to be more popular just based on
(06:46):
you know, if the displays looklike that, it means people want it.
It must be selling. So thatthat's a that's a pretty cool thing.
Doug this morning with Mike two eggof Edge Constructions, we're gonna get
to kitchens and just a moment kitchenremodeling. But right now though we're reviewing.
Mike was out in Las Vegas atthe International Builders Show and saw some
great stuff. Learns more about somenew projects products as well. Out there.
(07:06):
Speaking of projects though, think aboutdoing some modeling. My team love
to talk to you. I getwho's head on over to the website to
learn more or pick up phone.Gimme call six so eight six three six
three three four three that number sixthree six Edge the website Edge Construction Company
dot com. That's Edge construction companydot com and uh, I feel like
there's never enough space in the kitchensink and uh and it sounds like like
(07:30):
they're they're responding to that, aren'tthey. Yeah. So I started seeing
stuff on this maybe six months agothat a coming trend was going to be
bigger kitchen sinks and kind of nicerkitchen sinks, more options, let's say,
for for so long, and evennow, there's nothing wrong with the
stainless steel kitchen sink. We doa lot of those. It's probably half
(07:54):
of what we do. The restare are are anything anything above that.
You know, there's just a tonof options. But now we're seeing bigger
sinks. So instead of an averagesink base in Dane County is thirty six
inches wide, and usually your sinkis three inches less, right, So
(08:15):
if you got a thirty six basecabinet wide, then you're gonna use a
thirty three inch sink. And wewere seeing quite a few sinks out there
that are forty two thirty nine withtwo You have those bigger ones. A
lot of times you have two faucetson them. And not only that,
there's a lot of organization that's happeninga think like most of these sinks now,
(08:39):
the upgraded ones, you can buya cutting board that fits right in
on the top, doesn't move around. Super handy place for that. By
the way, I'm assuming there's alot of things for little doodads to do
work in that sink, to cookin that sink, and prep food in
that sink. Have you. Youprobably haven't seen this, but uh,
there is there's a I think that'sthat one smaller, kind of lightly known
(09:03):
manufacturer came out with. That's Thisthing is like a computer with a sink
attached. It's really Yeah. Youcan you can pick the temperature of your
water coming out. You can insteadof just water coming out in the in
the in the traditional faucet, it'sgot a it's got a spot where maybe
an eight inch wide by by inchdeep thick stream of water come out to
(09:26):
fill a big pot fast or maybelike washing your hands that way, you
can wave your hand underneath it.It shuts off. Wave your hand underneath
it. It turns on bumping,It turns on bumping, it turns off.
There's there's a lot, so I'mexpecting to see more of that because
just gauging the crowds, uh,reaction to it. There are a lot
(09:46):
of people standing around watching that onewith are they going deeper as well?
Not just wider, you know,a little deeper, but I think they're
they've kind of probably reached a logicalpoint on that in the last bunch of
years. So you get to nineor ten inches, that's that's it's pretty
deep. Yeah, you know, without going to like utilities sink. So
I just loved all the innovation onthe sinks. It's always something you wouldn't
(10:09):
think of, you know, howcan we sink? Yeah, we've been
at it all these years, butall of a sudden, boom, boom,
boom. There's just a whole bunchof new stuff, a lot of
great innovation. Talking this week, like twoing of Edge Construction were talking about
kitchen remodels and a little bit aboutkind of mapping out your kitchen remodel,
and you mentioned different size sinks. They think of so much things for so
long being very standard your sink size, your dishwasher size, or refrigerator or
(10:33):
your range, those type of thingsall at standard sizes. If we've talked
in the past about really when youguys at Edge Construction do a kitchen remodel
or any remodel. But I thinkwe'll obviously stick the kitchens this week,
getting to know the homeowner and abouttheir lifestyle, and we start talking about
different different dimensions and different types ofsinks, even something like that definitely wants
(10:56):
to you want to make sure earlyon you're kind of identifying that this is
something that the homeowner wants to doand making sure that the design works around
it correct. Yeah, And Ithink a good designer will at least make
you know, help you find outwhat the options are. You know,
there's a lot of people that aren'tgoing to shows and aren't maybe staying up
(11:16):
to data on the latest plumbing fixture, right, I get that, but
your designer should be helping in thatprocess a little bit saying, hey,
you know, just so you know, we can go bigger on that SYNC
if that's really something that you're interestedin. There's just a lot of options
there to pick from, really coolstuff. So we talked this week with
Mike two Way of Edge Constructions. We're gonna get into the process of kitchen
(11:37):
remodeling a little bit about of courseas well scope of work and kind of
mapping out that remodel gets that injust a moment. In the meantime,
