Speaker 1 (00:08):
The lt N Hour.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Let's talk Nascar with your host Todd Bayling, co hosts
Brian Schmidt, PJ Newdleman, head producer Dangerous Dan Margetta call
the show anytime at four one, four four two one
seventy nine oh one, and now the creator and host
of the fastest hour in radio, Todd Bailing.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well, I'll tell you one thing for sure, not a
one of us four geniuses picked Austin freaking Dylan to
win last night. I guarantee you that much. Good morning, everybody,
Todd Bayling in beautiful Linden Station, Wisconsin. My three co
(00:55):
hosts are all chopping at the bit to join us.
Brian over on the eastern part of the state. How
you doing man, Good morning. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
And we should have probably have considered having Austin Dillon because,
I mean, he won the race last year, even though
he had to hammer his way through it. But it
kind of played out the same way. He had a
three second lead last year, had a late caution. This year,
no late caution, boom, he wins the race.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
PJ Noodleman on the opposite side of the state, over
by the old Mississippi River.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
Yeah, I was hoping Blainey would have pulled that one off.
But oh well, that's all right.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Stuff happens. He had a good race, Let's let's put it.
He was in the mix. Let's put it that way.
And of course our producer, longtime partner, Dan Margetta, who's
I guess in Saint Francis. Did you don't you don't
have to work tonight, do you?
Speaker 6 (01:41):
No?
Speaker 7 (01:42):
We're off for Slinger tonight. We worked last night on
the big slam Fest deal. But yeah, Austin Dillon and
I didn't think about him winning because he ran goodyear
last year, but then he didn't run good anywhere else
Since then I kind of forgot about him. And he
came back and you know, had a good night last night,
and like Brian said, didn't have to turn nobody this
time or move out of the way.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
With all the weather we had. Did you get that
slam Fest thing in last night?
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (02:06):
Yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
It was a little bit of a late start because
they had some big storms blown in and it looked
like one of them Blizard of Oz twisters coming in
that it wasn't it. It was super dark the latest going
up on our roof and getting everything ready, but everybody
came in. They waited in their car, so the rain left,
came in and got the whole show in.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
That's a different kind of a crowd. They certainly do
want to see their stuff get wrecked. Huh oh yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:30):
And a couple of years ago it was like a
mon soon. They all sat through it, so they'll sit
through anything.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I had gone back to Milwaukee to take care of
some flood damage, not terrible, but bad enough to where
we had to spend the week back in Greendale getting
everything cleaned up. And I was on my way back.
I had every intention of going to the Jerry Eckhart
Race in Jefferson, and when we all of a sudden,
(02:56):
that thing that rolled through I don't know what they
call it, is that a fro pa? I don't know
my meteorological expressions, but there was this big ass thing
coming through the air, and I went, oh my god,
I'm not going to Jefferson. I'm the smartest guy on
the freeway. I'm not going. And it was right at
the Jefferson exit. So I kept going and I told Al.
(03:17):
I called Al Show. I said, I'm not going. Sorry,
I'm just not going to do it. He says, well,
if I were you, I'd stop somewhere and let the
storm blow over. And I have a suggestion for you.
So we went to Chicken Lips. I think that's what
it's called in sun Prairie. Interesting place. Anyway, we made
it to the Dells in time for the feature. That
(03:40):
same thing rolled through up here a little bit earlier,
and they managed to get in the features. So that
was I mean, all of the race. I don't think
they ran heats, but we ran through it. So it
was quite the interesting run here last night, for sure,
and everybody had to deal with all the rain, all
(04:00):
the tracks in the area. In the meantime, we got
to watch the end of the Richmond Race and that
was a pretty good entertainment. I have to say. I
watched about the last one hundred and twenty five laps
after I got back from the Dell's racetrack. I thought
they might have been in a pit cycle because Austin
Dillon was leading the race. Although here he is racing
(04:23):
with the twelve car, and I'm thinking, you know what, Blainey,
he should be the guy here because after all, Austin Dylan,
he ain't gonna win anything. Well, the guy did a
really spectacular job. His team was good. Brian. I guess
what we all hoped for was that tires would play
into strategy, and it certainly did last night.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Yeah, absolutely, I mean till your degragation is something we've
always been wanting from these cars on a short track,
and the set of tires would last about forty five
laps before they were completely junk. So Austin Dillon's main
strategy was the first guy to pit last, so he
was the first one to get on the fresh tires
three laps before Blaney did at the end, which gave
(05:09):
him a big enough gap.
Speaker 9 (05:11):
We thought maybe Blaaney would.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Be able to catch him at the end, but by
the time Blaney worked through traffic and got you know,
within like a three second margin, that margin just stabilized
because the tires were the same kind of on both
of them.
Speaker 9 (05:22):
So I think you got to give good your props.
You know, you finally had.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
A good short track race with these cars at Richmond,
something we've been lacking.
Speaker 9 (05:29):
I mean, I know a lot of people, you know,
you didn't have a lot of recks.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
You had one bigger wreck, but you didn't have you know,
and the guy still won by three seconds. But overall,
I think the race from start to finish was pretty
good for a short track race with this.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Car, and the fact that we put tires into the
strategy was pretty damn good I think, I mean, certainly
made for an interesting set of circumstances to factor in.
And plus, speaking of factors, we find out that Austin
and Dylan had a broken rib. How exactly did he
(06:04):
break that, any of you guys? He said in the
post race press conference.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
He was doing something with his hunting blinds or something
and he fell off a ladder. So and this happened
before Iowa, so he kind of just kept an He
ran the road course to race last week at Watkins
Glenn with it.
Speaker 9 (06:20):
I mean, and anybody who had a broken rib.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
I have not, but I've heard how terrible it is.
There's nothing you can do about it. I mean, he's
a gladiator for for doing that and then having the
run he did. But when you have a really good
car it makes it a lot easier.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah, that broken rib thing is is a pretty big deal.
You can't laugh or cough, and you can't really wrap
it up either. You just have to deal with it
until it feels better and Oh my god. That means,
as I learned, that means sleeping in a recliner and
then having it prop you back up so you can
stand up. It's it's very painful, and to race that
(06:54):
way and to win that way is very impressive.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
Did you guys catch the post race interviewing press conference
when he had said that he has made some suggestions
to Richard Chillis about how the direction of that team's going,
and how Richard doesn't always agree with him, and he's
kind of got to, you know, work his way and
take some time to get him to come through, and
eventually they come around. I mean, it's interesting that that
car was that fast in that team in the eight
car really wasn't.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, speaking of the eight car, I mean there's there's
bad races and then there's you know, the car wasn't good,
and neither was the driver. And I'm not sure that
Rowdy was too proud of his whole performance there last Na.
How can one car and a team be that good
and the other one be that bad? Well, part of it,
(07:37):
I mean Rowdy caused it. See I saw a replay
of it a couple of times from a couple of
different angles. I'm not sure it was one hundred percent
his fault, but it did look ninety percent to me.
It took out a lot of good cars, including the
nine car. Everybody came and I say, the most popular
driver and Chase Ellie had got taken out in that
(07:58):
thing too.
Speaker 8 (07:58):
You got two chases in that.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah, And unfortunately I don't really understand how that can happen. Dan,
you came up with an interesting theory before we went
on about that.
Speaker 9 (08:16):
What I think I did.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
I thought that perhaps Kyle has urinated in someone's weedies
on the team, and therefore they could actually make him
have a very very miserable day with a terrible setup.
Not saying it was the crew chief for the car chief.
It just could be somebody on the crew who maybe
was a little irritated with Kyle because he can be
(08:40):
a little bitch when he's angry and has.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Not been very complimentary to that team publicly, which you know,
it seems to me that that's not the greatest strategy
to have. Keep it under your head.
Speaker 9 (08:53):
Now.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
It did work in the past for Kevin Harvick when
he would bead mouthus. Demon of course, he'd come back
the next week and they had all new guys there.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
But you know, Harvarick has a lot more finesse with
people skills than Kyle Busch does. And that's all that
really needs to be said on that.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
That is true, isn't it? Well it was a overall,
I thought, a good race. Nine ninth different single race winner.
That means that suddenly we're down to two non winners.
There's fourteen guys that have won races this year, believe
it or not. And Reddick right now it looks like
(09:34):
he's good. He's over two races ahead and he's gonna
make it. And fact, Alex Bowman is more than likely
going to make it too, because he is sixty points
a race and a half with one race to go.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Ahead unless we get a different winner at Daytona, which
is very likely.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Remember last year it is it's past.
Speaker 9 (09:53):
Year we had Burton with the walk off wind.
Speaker 3 (09:55):

Last week The ratings are in NASCAR was shown on
the USA Network. They had one point eight five million viewers,
which was up two point three percent. Another positive number.
Exfinity Series ran on CW. They were at one point
one percent, which was up forty one percent from the
(13:22):
year before. I don't know what happened last year. I
can't think about that. It jumped to one point five
in the closing laps when Zillish was it was quite
a ballot a battle there, as you might remember, and
Fox and their indie resuscitation program Good news it was
up eighty six percent from last year. The Bad News
(13:44):
they were a distant third with only seven hundred thousand viewers.
I suppose it's up that much because it was on
the big network and nobody had to really search for it.
I don't really know. I can't tell you what the
numbers mean. I just that doesn't make a whole lot
of sense to me. But this week we had some
(14:04):
some rumors get floated out there, and I'm trying, I'm
scratching my head trying to figure them out. One of
them is that Dover is going to get the All
Star Race next year. There are some issues with that,
as far as I can tell, Brian, and not so
much that the racing would be bad, but there are
some other issues there.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Well, Dover doesn't have lights, so I mean, the All
Star Race has been, you know, under the light since
the old one hot night thing when I was in
high school.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
Was that like nineteen ninety three when.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
They started that at the Charlotte. So now you're going
to move that race, possibly back to a daytime event.
And I mean, I don't see them putting lights at Dover.
I mean, does anybody think they're going to spend that
kind of money to do that.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
I don't want question what do you think that there
would be an additional date for Dover or do you
think it would cost them a cup race?
Speaker 4 (14:55):
I think it would cost them a cup race because
SMI owns Dover. If everybody remembers SI out Dover and
all their properties several years ago, you know which included
at the time the Memphis track that's now defunct and
the Nashville track. DOVER owned those tracks back in the day,
which is where SMI was able to get a race
at the new Nashville track and then move their races around.
(15:17):
They took the second Dover date and move that to
a different SMI property. I can't remember which one off
the top of the head, But so anyway, SMI owns Dover,
So yeah, I mean, if you're going to take Dover's
point state and move it to North Wilkesboro, so North
Wilkesboro has a point state, Dover's just going to get
the also race and that's going to be it. If
you connect the dots. I don't see them adding another
(15:39):
date somewhere else unless SMI takes one of the tracks
that has two dates away and those the only ones
I can think of our Charlotte, which everybody says the
rob is going to be back next year. Atlanta, there's
been no word that you're going to take a date
away from them, and Vegas. Vegas has two dates. I
don't see him taking a dat away from them, and
then Bristol would be the last one.
Speaker 9 (15:58):
And I don't know.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Maybe maybe they would take one away from Bristol, but
I have not heard anything about that.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
That real key there, I think is North Wilkesboro, which
has been you know, exhibition races since they brought it back.
I don't know that they worry so much about the
live gate like they used to. It's about TV and
ratings and who's watching and how what kind of show
do they put on, and the fact that we don't
have very many short as many short tracks as we
(16:24):
used to. That North Wilkesboro would would be a good
points race. Okay, So that part, it wouldn't be a
real surprise if they they took Dover's date and gave
it to North Wilkesboro. The problem though, is the Dover
getting an All Star race is like Brian said, that's
a that's a pretty hefty investment to add lights for
(16:48):
one exhibition race per year, which is what it would
come down to. Even with the spectacular history that Dover has.
There's just just I don't know who's floating the rumor.
It's not NASCAR like they like to do business. Is
it somebody connecting dots or is it the people from
sm I floating it themselves. It doesn't make a lot
(17:11):
of sense to me. Where is it coming from? Do
we have any theories?
Speaker 16 (17:15):
Well?
Speaker 7 (17:15):
I think it was Jordan Bianki right with the report
for at least the possibility of that, and he's been
pretty right so far. When you report and the schedule
I think is coming out pretty soon. I think they're
gonna sweet they want to out. I mean maybe it's
already setting somebody obviously on something like that. People start
talking the new whisper to people, Hey, you know what's
coming up? This could be it another one they people
have thought about. You know, last week we talked about Iowa.
(17:37):
We didn't know what their situation was, that they're on
it or not. That kind of was discussed a little
bit this week as well.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
So I think what's the latest rumor on Iowa? I
like it there. I think they they should keep a
race at Iowa. But but is it in flux right now?
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Well, there was talk it was in flux, but nobody
has come up with an alternative place for them to go.
People keep thinking they're going to go to Montreal. One
would think if they were going to be going to
Montreal and your schedule is going to be released next week,
that would have came out. But I haven't seen that anywhere.
So I'm kind of thinking now that it's been quiet
all week, that that Iowa be back. Here's one to
think about. I mean, you know, here we are trying
(18:13):
to move races around, and Dover made me having the
ALS race. The question I think everybody should really talk
about is do we really need an All Star race?
I mean, what does the All Star race mean? And
all these other sports all stars mean you have all
these players from different teams coming together to play with
each other. In NASCAR, it's just another race with a
lot less cars that seems to be very, I don't know, unfulfilling.
(18:36):
I haven't seen a good All Star race. I mean
when they came back to Dover to North Wilkesboro a
couple of years ago, that was cool, but then they
raced and it was like, now this sucks, you know,
and I mean an All Star race right now. I
mean I'm looking forward to North Wilkesboro having you know,
thirty eight forty cars on the track instead of just twenty.
Now you go to a mile and you're only gonna
have twenty cars on it.
Speaker 9 (18:55):
I mean, is that any good?
Speaker 4 (18:57):
I think the only place where it's good to have
like twenty cars is where you have like drafting. So
maybe in Atlanta, I would be more for take two
points races away from Atlanta and run an All Star
Race there and I think maybe that would be more exciting.
Speaker 9 (19:10):
Plus you have the lights.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
Remember this all started with a sponsor. It was the Winston.
That's okay.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
They wanted a race and they had their name on
it and everything else, and that's kind of everything got
off and we kind of lost that kind of title
sponsor for the All Star Race, and they just kind
of kept it going.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
So it's the dad, though, don't you agree. I mean,
it's it's a it's a notch on the schedule and
it's a money making event for the promoter. And what
you're saying here is that Speedway Motorsports would have to
give up one of their dates. Are they going to
do that or are they going to go back to
court and start threatening again.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Well, no, I'm saying instead of having an Allstar, it's
just at another points event.
Speaker 9 (19:48):
Just make it one more.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
I mean, don't get rid of the weekend because then
you'd be losing money if you turn it into another
full on regular weekend. Everybody's got a schedule. Yeah, everybody's
got to go anyway. Because you have the Open and
you have the support events. Everybody is going to these races.
Back in the day when the All Star Race was
in Charlotte, it wasn't such a big deal because you know,
if you didn't make it through the Open, well then
(20:10):
you just went home at night. Now they're traveling anyway,
then they're not at home. So then just make it
a points race to make it worth your while.

It sounds as though like we're racing at Slinger Speedway tonight,
we are not that that is for next week. Okay,
there is no racing at Slinger tonight. They had the
slam Fest last night and this is a off week
for Sunday racing. So when you hear that commercial, that's
(24:06):
for next week for the Allen Kowiki Memorial. Just a reminder. Okay,
So there's some of the things going on last week
at Watkins Glenn. Oh my god. Shane Van Gisbergen is
absolutely spectacular. Is this a surprise, No, it's not. It's
(24:27):
why he got signed. And if you look at the
big picture, the whole thing is you want to make
the playoffs. That's what's really important, is to make the playoffs.
Sixteen guys make the playoffs, only one is champion. And
I think it's pretty much acknowledged that SVG doesn't have
(24:48):
the team or the oval track ability to win a
championship yet. But because he is so dominant on road courses,
and NASCAR seems to be hell bent on adding and
adding and adding road courses without adding road America, that
now everybody's bitching that we've got too many road courses.
(25:12):
The same guy wins them all. Well, take your hat
off to the guy. He's spectacular. You know, he's got
twenty two playoff points too. Four wins and twenty two
playoff points. That means, folks, that it's likely he's going
to make it through the first round of when there's
sixteen cars, they eliminate four. In the second round there's
(25:35):
a road course, so he might make it all the
way to the third round before he gets eliminated. And
if they redo the schedule and have road courses any
closer to the top, the guy would be in it.
That's how good he is. And I think everybody in
the sport looks at him and shakes their head and goes,
my god. Now, I had a very interesting conversation with
(25:58):
Mark Martin earlier this year and I said, boy, this
guy is really likable, isn't he And doesn't he have
the talent? As Ben Gizbergen and Mark Martin said two
things to me. One, you'll notice he's not as good
on road courses as he used to be. Now, this
was back in March when I saw Mark and he said,
I think it's because everyone else studies what he does
(26:19):
on their simulators and they've all kind of caught up
to them. And the second part of the Ben Gizberg
and puzzle is he's not learning oval tracks as quickly
as he needs to. Now that might still be the case,
but as far as the road courses go, guys, that
was one hell of a performance again.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
Yeah, Loo, can you say? I mean he's the guy
on the road courses now, and he you know, the
oval thing, he was like fourteenth last night.
Speaker 8 (26:49):
That that's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (26:50):
He's got enough playoff points he can get through the
you know, the rounds were using those and if he
run fourteenth on an oval every week and or better,
you can make it. You know, whether you be in
the final four, you're gonna get some luck in the
last ones. But one of those is Talladega. If you
can stay out of trouble there, maybe you can win
that one, you know, but it's.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
You have six road courses. I think I can't remember
something like that.
Speaker 9 (27:15):
So on the season.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, he did not win at he did not win
at Coda, but then he's won all the rest of
them since then, and then we have the robll to
finish in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
I think he thrives on people looking at him like
he's not going to be a contender.
Speaker 9 (27:31):
I think that just fuels him.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
The guy is pretty amazing. Now what gets me is
that he is a teammate with Connor Zillish, who is
a road course guy like Van Gizbergen is. If you
flip the coin, I would give it to Van giz
every time, a little bit better than Zillish. However, if
you watch him close this Connor Zillish kid at nineteen
(27:58):
and here Ben gizz is what thirty eight, he's half
of his age. Think of the talent that Zillish has
and what a teammate that is. It's the people from
his sponsor, bred Bull, that are really making the calls here.
They by the way, it was Red Bull's decision last
(28:20):
week to pull Connors Zillish from or not Zillish because
he wasn't gonna make the race, but to pull the
car out of the race at Watkins Glenn because they
don't want to be They just it wasn't important for
them to have a car out there with a driver
that they're not investing what they are in the future with.
(28:40):
They're gonna be with Zillish for a long time and
it seems like they're doing pretty good with Van gizberg
in too, And Zilich's.
Speaker 9 (28:47):
Proven it on every type of course.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
You know, he's win he wins on the ovals, he
wins on the road courses, he wins on the super speedways,
he wins everywhere he's been. He's just got to stay healthy,
that's his thing.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
You know.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
He had the wreck of Talladega, which he heard his back,
and then he had the fluke thing last week at
Watkins Glen. But it's still something that happened, so hopefully
there's not you know, long term.
Speaker 9 (29:07):
Effects to that.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Yeah, he's got the age that SPG doesn't have, you know,
Village is a lot younger. But but you put those
two together on the same team going forward, you know.
And and SPG says he listens to the guys that
are helping him learn the ovals. He just absorbs the knowledge.
He's not one of these guys that thinks he knows everything.
I mean, there's not a bit of arrogance in him.
Even when you hear him talk. He's as laid back
(29:29):
as they get. So I think I think in the
future you you're gonna see him running up front. I
mean last night too, fourteenth, first car, one lap down.
There's a lot of cars that are a lot worse
than him behind him. He's a kind of a likable
guy too, very much. So Yeah, everybody respects him and
likes him a lot. By the way, speaking to Connor Zillish,
he had surgery this week on his broken collar bone.
(29:51):
It's gonna take him a little while. I don't know
how collar bone surgery goes. They put some kind of
plate in there or something like that. But thanks a lot, dad.
His dad, Jim Zillish posts on X this week there
is a silver lining. Pooping himself is no longer his
most embarrassing moment now. I don't remember that. Thanks for
(30:14):
bringing that up, dad.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
I thought it was SVG that had the problem during
the race, and was that at Mexico City. I think
it was.
Speaker 9 (30:23):
Wasn't it not everybody to give that to themselves in there?
Yet everybody did?
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Oh god, hey ud to like the race. I don't
think we're coming back. I don't know. It seems to
me like, hey, the Truck Series, we'll tell you a
little bit about that race, Like like that's what the
Tie fans want to hear about when we come back.
Speaker 16 (30:44):

RedHawks of Miamians.

Got all away, watched out, Chris Consent.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Listen to the Batchers all season ninety seven the kick.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
I did say we were going to do a truck
recap here, but we're gonna wait a little bit because
we've been able to get a hold of the guy
that has made Super late model racing a national sport again,
Bob's sergeant, who's down in Springfield.
Speaker 9 (33:27):
I'm sorry we did not get him yet. He's not
We didn't know.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Oh, okay, we'll get We'll get back to him.
Speaker 15 (33:34):
Then.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
In that case, plan B the truck race, Yeah, Ti
ma Jeski, the clearly the fastest truck on the track,
clearly stunk it up, led one hundred and forty three laps.
Clearly he was going to win his first race of
the year. And he's racing with his teammate, quote quote
(33:58):
teammate Matt Kraft and who slipped supposedly in some oil
and just took Tye out. I cannot imagine the naughty
words that Ty said in that truck when his teammate
took him out yesterday. Apparently it was oil on the
racetrack and Corey Heim, Oh there's a guy that needed
(34:20):
another win Corey Heim wanted again. Ty really didn't say
anything terrible about Matt crafton. I would assume PJ that
it's because they're such close teammates and friends.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Hi does not crap where he wants to eat, and
that's all I'm gonna say on that.
Speaker 9 (34:41):
Oh we have okay, we have.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
We have a take a look at the the I
am here, Bob is grading the track, so we have
Adam Mackie with us now instead.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
I know, Adam Mackie, how you doing, man.
Speaker 17 (34:52):
Hey, I'm doing well.
Speaker 10 (34:53):
You know.
Speaker 17 (34:53):
The sun is now out in Springfield. But we had
a great forecast all week long for this weekend. Somehow,
some way pop up showers this morning and two of
them came through the State Fair here in Springfield and
dumped rain on the track and it definitely dampened the
surface to the point where Bob had to get out
the greater. He is currently on the track grading the
(35:15):
top layer off because if we didn't we wouldn't be racing.
That's the point we're at. So he said, hey, can
you do the phone call because I'm a little busy
right now. I'm trying to make sure we can race
ourket today.
Speaker 9 (35:28):
He is a man that keeps working.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
How about after you're done with the Springfield race, we
moved to Madison for the ARCA Series. Now, the last
couple of years, ARKA has been at the Milwaukee Mile,
but they have a history of being at Madison. Talk
about the excitement of having ARKA back on the half
mile in Madison.
Speaker 17 (35:43):
Yeah, it is definitely exciting.
Speaker 18 (35:45):
You know, short track racing is really good with ARCA.
We love seeing the ARCA cars on the short track,
you know, a mile long track today with the dirt,
and then next week we go to the half mile
and it's gonna be fun for ARCA making a return.
I think they're gonna have a good race. We were
up there for Midwest Toward There a couple of weeks ago.
We've been there for Star Series, you know, earlier this season.
(36:07):
Now we'll be there for for ARCA and hopefully a
good field. They've had good fields this year. The kind
of the resurgence of the ark of an arts series
this year and we're one of our better fields here
at Springfield today.
Speaker 9 (36:18):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
So we're at the We're at the race at I
RP a couple of weeks ago, and I mean, really
good race between you know, Butterbean Queen running whoever is
in the.
Speaker 9 (36:27):
Gibbs car for the particular week.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
I think Max Reeves is going to be in the
car at Madison. But a good rivalry between those two.
And then you got the Ventureini cars that you can't
sleep on them either.
Speaker 18 (36:36):
Yeah, there's a there's a good, you know, solid field.
The eighteen Gifts car is usually the favorite just because
of their abilities and they're driving. The last couple of
years with the Wallace he was outstanding obviously, and now
Reeves is a young kid and doing a great job
when he gets a chance on some of the shorter
tracks of the ARCIS series. So it's gonna be uh,
it's gonna be up for drafts the winning that race
(36:59):
next week. And I think the fans would be excited
to see a really good show on Friday night.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
Yeah, I think you see a pretty good event at Madison.
It's a fast half mile track and they've had runner
before and at some good, good events. The I RP
race like Brianton was pretty good and Madison's pretty much
the same thing, probably a little quicker.
Speaker 8 (37:15):
I think you have to put on pretty and show on.
Speaker 18 (37:18):
Yeah, you know these guys. We've had Alcove Steeedway is
one of the short tracks that we've put on for
several years with Marca and and that's one of the
best shows and best turnouts and fans we get every year.
The deal with Elko that we have, and we hope.
Speaker 17 (37:36):
We can make Madison the same way. It's gonna be
our first time doing the Madison race from Track Enterprises.
You know, Greg and his staff at Madison do a
great job with everything, and they've run the ARCA races
in the past, and now we're kind of joining teams
here with Greg to do the one next week at Madison,
and we're kind of pumped up about it. ARCA, like
(37:57):
I said, is kind of bit of resurgence right now.
The car uncer up everywhere they go and that makes
for great racing. Obviously, more guys as a handful of
guys as you mentioned, that are going to be capable
of winning, and then you throw in the Madison. Late
Model is going to be at Action next week too,
so that'd be a lot of fun.
Speaker 8 (38:14):
And is there any place, Yeah, can you get tickets?
Places like Minards?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Absolutely.
Speaker 17 (38:20):
A great place to get tickets is Minard. I know
we've sold quite a few already. Local Minard stores in
the Madison area. You can go out and stop by
at the customer service desk and purchase a ticket for
just twenty bucks and that's going to save you ten
or fifteen bucks off your race day price. I mean,
that's the way to go. It's a cheap ticket, be
a good show and a great place to spend on
(38:41):
a Friday night.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
And looking at the time frame, you have practice later
in the afternoon, you have qualifying I believe at five
o'clock correct, the Late Model race at six autograph session
following the Late Model race, and then the ARCA race
is going to take the green flag at a little
after eight o'clock and it's on FS one.
Speaker 9 (38:58):
If you can't make it to Madison, correct.
Speaker 17 (39:00):
Yeah, the place to be is in the grand stands
at Madison on Friday night. But if you can't make it,
they'll have live coverage of course, with all of the
Archest Series races, and I just love short track racing.
I think a lot of the fans of ARCA like
short track racing. I think they're the place to watch
him is on a short track like Madison or Elco
and a little better than watching a mile and a
(39:21):
half race. So they put on some good shows there too.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Adam Mackie, thanks so much for taking a little time
and talking with us. I know it's a busy time.
How about that Bob Sergeant out there doing the work himself.
Now there's a promoter. You guys are great, thanks for
being on.
Speaker 17 (39:37):
Yeah, you know, yeah, Bob's definitely out there working right now.
It seems like every few years would get rain in
the morning over here and then you've got to go
out on the track and scrape the top layer of
mud down to the bottom so that they can roll
it in and get on there, because it would take
hours and hours to drive if we would have just
left it sit. So it's hopefully going to be a
(39:58):
solid race at Springfield today and we'll be back at
it on appho next week and you won't have to
do any track brap.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Thanks Adam, we'll see us soon. Appreciate you. Being on
the program and we're going to sneak away to a break.
We'll be back right after these.

and fifty thousand dollars to win, and Jonathan Davenpork took
home the big prize.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
There.
Speaker 4 (46:22):
One other news note for those that didn't see this
week big news in the world of sprint car racing,
Donnie Shots was released from his ride with Tony Stewart
Motorsports this week.
Speaker 9 (46:32):
Didn't take him long.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Two days later he picked up a ride and he's
joining David Gravell in a second car to finish out
the next three weeks of World of Old Law sprint
car racing.
Speaker 9 (46:42):
He ran Friday night, flipped the car, wrecked it.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
They didn't have another car for him to get in,
so he joined yet a different team to race last
night in Jackson, and I believe he even got a
top ten finish in that car. So they're going to
fix it, get his Gravel Teammate Motorsports car back together,
and he'll be joining back up.
Speaker 9 (47:00):
With them next week. But big news for Tony to
release Donny Shots like that in.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
The middle of the week.
Speaker 7 (47:05):
And if you see an interview with Shots, I don't
think he's very pleased with it. It seems kind of
a crazy wa Yeah, you've been together like eighteen years.
Speaker 4 (47:12):
Eighteen years and multiple championships and they put Kerry Madison
in that car. I did not see where he finished
last night, but I don't know he wasn't in the
top ten.
Speaker 9 (47:20):
I don't believe no.
Speaker 5 (47:21):
Speculation on what happened between the two of them.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
It's just according to Tony, he's been so frustrated. I
didn't hear David's side of it. What did David have
to say, I mean Donnie's side of.
Speaker 7 (47:30):
It, Well, he pretty much said he hadn't been around
for a while and didn't really know what's going on.
Kind of the same scenario when the cup side, when
that team kind of.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
Are you saying he was sandbagging?
Speaker 5 (48:04):
Actually, I do believe he was sandbag And if you
looked at his practice times I'm talking about Hosts of
R If you look at his practice times, the first
lap was well over a second faster than any of
his practice times, and his second lap was still two
tents off of his best practice time. He hit the
invert right, he hit the invert. Yeah, that is kind
(48:26):
of his home track. But it was sad then that
he only finished sixteenth. We wiped these tears off my face.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (48:35):

Speaker 3 (54:22):
I just wanted to mention real quickly Grant Greasebach winning
the Red, White, and Blue points up at Cocanna. He's
having a year this year. We've watched the kid grow
up in a race card. Basically, he won his first
Slinger B race at Slinger when he was ten years old.
He's I think he's like twenty three now and never
(54:45):
has had a year anywhere close to this one. He
is leading the points at Slinger, he is leading the
Kocanna Weekly points up there. He is leading the Tundra points,
and he's leading the Midwest Truck Series points and all
of those series are getting towards the end of the
year and it's gonna come come. It's been pretty soon.
Speaker 1 (55:10):
Work.
Speaker 5 (55:10):
He's been working with Casey Johnson quite extensively, and I
think that that shows kind of that he's helping to
up his game. Other note is he's going to be
a guest in the upcoming weeks on the Racy Nuggets podcast,
and then I'm also going to have Matt Weaver on
on Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
Oh my, nice lineup you got going there, kid, Well,
we'll have to watch that. A couple of things. The
Exfinity Series, as we may have remembered, is losing their sponsor.
It's not going to be the Exfinity Series. The contract
is up, and NASCAR has been looking for another title sponsor,
(55:47):
and it looks like it's going to be O'Reilly Auto Parts,
the O'Reilly Series that's coming, I guess as soon as
next year, right.
Speaker 7 (55:56):
I really hope they put a name with it, and
it's not just like the NASCAR O'Reilly Series that doesn't
come up.
Speaker 8 (56:00):
Call it the o'riiley Grand National Series or something like that.
Speaker 9 (56:03):
Just to have some there, you go, get the.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
Cool, great idea, let's let's all agree on it and
send in our suggestions and see what NASCAR says thanks
for those suggestions. This week, you may have seen this.
The rumor is that Dodge and Colleague Racing might be
hooking up and then you know they talk to somebody
from Colleague Racing. He says, he confirmed that he spoke
(56:29):
to Dodge. Listen to me, Dodge has talked to everybody.
It isn't just Colleague. Now, there are some people that
have put two and two together and think that Colleague
would be a good landing spot for them. But kind
of remember here, Dodge is only going to come in
in the Truck Series next year. Colleague is in bed
(56:50):
with chevro Let chevro Let, So in other words, they
would have a Chevy Cup team, a Chevy Infinity team,
and a DoD truck team. Does anybody see a potential
problem with that?
Speaker 10 (57:05):
I just.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
Don't. I just don't see that as happening. All right,
all right, we're running.
Speaker 4 (57:12):
If anything, GMS would be the one I would think,
look for them to make me come back in the
Truck Series for Dodge.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
That makes that makes some sense. Brian, they're still negotiating
prices with people. I can tell you that for a fact.
Brian picked the winner last week at Watkins Glenn as SVG,
which you know it's I picked him the last time,
so it makes us look smart. I guess not a
one of us. Like I started the show by saying,
(57:40):
picked Austin Dylan to win at Richmond, but we've got
a firecracker coming this coming Saturday night at Daytona. I
had already written down Denny Hamlin to win, but I
changed it. I think we're gonna have our fifteenth different
winner this coming week, and I'm taking Brads Lawski to
(58:01):
win at Daytona Saturday. All right, let's move along, Brian,
go ahead, you can pick next.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
All we forgot to mention that William Byron already clinched
the regular season points standings.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
YEAHO, who does that matter? I guess it does.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
Oh yeah, that's a lot of extra points. And I
think he's gonna get to add more to that, and
he's gonna win at Daytona and make it.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Two for two. All right, we wrote her down. Uh,
let's see. Uh, PJ, why don't you go next?
Speaker 5 (58:24):
I was actually leaning toward Keselowski, so instead I'll go
with Chris Buscher.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
A teammates. All right, very good, and Daniel.
Speaker 8 (58:31):
Well, you guys took my two picks.
Speaker 7 (58:33):
I agree with you, Toad and Keselowski, and agree with
PJ and Busher I don't think rf Kathlyn gets shot
out of the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Maybe maybe it wud be Ryan Priest.
Speaker 9 (58:42):
Who knows you're gonna take Priest?
Speaker 8 (58:43):
Then yeah, yeah, I'll take Price. We just take a
Ralphs car.
Speaker 9 (58:46):
You gonna go for once?
Speaker 6 (58:48):
Right?
Speaker 4 (58:48):
That would be the key because his last two races
at Daytona have been nothing but wicked flips.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
We're so happy you tuned into this program. It it
makes our whole day.
Speaker 7 (58:58):
And uh, next week we'll be coming to you from
the Milwaukee, miisle of the IndyCar Races. They're coming to

through the windows. Our engineers, Matt Loci, thanks for tuning
