The lt T Hour.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Let's talk Nascar with your host Todd Bayling, co hosts
Brian Schmidt, PJ Newdleman, and producer Dangerous Dan Margetta. Call
the show anytime at four one, four four two one
seventy nine oh one. And now the creator and host
of the Fastest Hour and Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Todd Bailing, and the regular season is over after the
big race at Daytona last night. Hello there, everybody, Todd
Bailing in beautiful Linden Station, Wisconsin, joined by my three
partners spread out over the state.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Let's start with PJ over on the on the left
coast there of the state of in Trempola, Wisconsin.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
Morning, PJ, good morning, love in the fall like temperatures.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, all of a sudden, didn't wasn't it? Just like
a week ago we were sweating ourt And here we
are and they, the other two members of this quad
are in the infield at the Milwaukee Mile where they're
getting ready for Indy cars today. Brian Schmidt and Dan Margett.
Speaker 6 (01:19):
Hi, guys, y, good morning, Yeah, great to be back
at the Milwaukee Mile for a race again. Just what
three four short years ago we thought this was something
we would never see and now it's become a regular
event and a beautiful day for a race today here
no excuses not to get on out here for the
snap on two fifty for the Indy Car Series here,
(01:40):
so it should be a great event. Twenty seven cars
are going to take the green flag that around one
twenty today and your champion, Alex Blow will lead the
field to green.
Speaker 7 (01:49):
Yeah, and the weather's nice, perfect day to come watch
a race and do what I'm doing. I'm gonna watch this,
I'm gonna get in my car and head right to Slinger.
Got a two for one today, full day of racing.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Busy day for you.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah. The Indy Cars at Milwaukee will be on Fox
six Milwaukee and Fox forty seven in Madison today. The
green flag is at one twenty this afternoon. Plenty of
time to see the Indie race and then, like Dan said,
head on up the Slinger Speedway for the Allen Coolwiki
Memorial Race tonight. Lots going on. We raced at Daytona.
(02:20):
We set the field for the playoffs. Ryan Blaney was
your winner. Now normally that PJ would have got that
pick right last week, but.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
I'm still happy for him.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Yeah, why not?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
I mean it was It certainly was an outstanding finish
to the race. Four wide at the line, they avoided
the big one at the end. Anyway, the big one
was really on lap thirty three. That included eleven cars,
several of them pretty good cars too. But overall, with
(02:55):
Daniel Suarez finishing second, Justin Haley he was third, and
Cole Custer was fourth, you're thinking, what the hell is that? Yes,
that's how crazy that race was. We had some outstanding
performances by drivers that you wouldn't normally expect. Let's say,
(03:15):
Cody Ware Did you realize he led the third most
amount of laps last night at Daytona and SVG. While
he's finally he's getting it a little better, he was
running up front for some time. He's learning that business
about blocking high, block and low and then being in
the wrong place and going back so far that you
can't recover. I ended up sixteenth, but still I had
(03:38):
a lot of fun. Well there you're going, that's that's
what you're That was the worst accent that anyone has
ever heard in your life for a guy from New Zealand.
But but anyway, over do.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
You think do you think NASCAR was happy that Ryan
Laney won and it wasn't somebody like like Custer the
other guy's coming back with a Knox and another car
of the playoffs that you know, we'll talk about who
deserves to be in a playoffs and who doesn't. I
mean just thinking like the forty one car would have
won last night out to send everybody crazy.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, a little bit like last year when Harrison Burton
snuck it, snuck into the playoffs. But you know, in
a way that Cinderella asterisk that we like to have,
it's so fun. Oh look, isn't that nice? Someone else
who worked haired all season and had a better season
(04:27):
is not going to make it because someone snuck in.
And Cole Custer's team has been a very underachieving team
this year, and yet he was right in it up
to the end of that thing. Those four cars went
side by side. They finished the race in less than
half a second. Can you imagine that? Forty nine thousands Actually,
(04:49):
that's just amazing, and that's less than a half a
tenth isness, And.
Speaker 8 (04:55):
It was interesting late in the race.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
At one point Kyle Larson was like running third and
there were like five cars around him. And every single
one of them were cars that had not won a race.
So they're on the radio with Larson saying, hey, you
got to get it done here. You can't let those
guys win because then Alex Bowman would have been knocked out.
And with two to go, Ryan Blaney was thirteenth, so
Larson was thinking, I got to figure out a way here.
(05:19):
He kind of gave Jones a bump, got him out
of the groove, and Jones went to the back. But
then all of a sudden, here comes Blaney trucking through
the field and got to win. That saved Alex Bowman
because his wreck early in the race kind of finished
his chances off.
Speaker 8 (05:32):
So he thought, so.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
The field is now set and it actually includes Alex Bowman.
The reseeding has been done on Bowman is the sixteenth
seeded car. There's I don't really understand all that seating
thing and how it really affects anything at all. All
I know is I just smooth it out for me.
You gotta win and you're in the next round. How
(05:55):
easy is that? And then you got to finish in
the top of the points or you got to be eliminated.
If you're in the bottom of the point. So it's
very simple really, all that seating is.
Speaker 9 (06:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:07):
I was really surprised that he talked about Kyle Larson
being told he has to win to get Alex Bowman
and all like the teamwork that goes on. I really
shocked the Forge didn't work together to get a RASH
car in the playoffs. I kind of thought that we
would see that that maybe that the team Ford would
would kind of push one of the RASH cars up there,
and they were all running pretty good. I mean, Chris
Busher was up there and Ryan Priest, so it's kind
of surprising that when Blanty just went to the fronts
(06:28):
that I'm going to win.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, I was amazed for the you know everything is
turning around at raush right, Well, they don't have one
car in the playoffs. Are they really turning things around?
I can tell you that that six car guy, that
owner of the team guy, he really wanted to win.
And I have a reason to believe that he wanted
(06:51):
to win so he could come out and possibly have
a shot at a championship and then retire from driving.
But I don't know that he's going to want to
retire with out having a shot at a title one
more time, So I think we're going to see him
back in that car one more time. If you want
to weigh in with what you thought of last night's race,
you can do so, or any other subject in the
(07:12):
world you'd like to talk to us about.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Our number is.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Four to one four four two one seven nine zero one,
and we'd love to hear from you. Lots lots and
lots going on. They've been, They raced at Daytona, they
ran the Exfinity Series for one reason or another. I
can't even imagine Connor Zilich with his just had surgery
to fix his collar bone. He's got whether they say,
(07:37):
pins and screws and stuff in there holding everything together.
He climbs in the window and does a couple of
laps so he can get the points. In the meantime,
his car owner, Dale Junior, calls up Parker Kligerman, who's
packing to go to Europe. He's going to Italy, and
he says, I want you to drive to eighty eight
car and so he drops his plans, tells the wife, sorry,
(07:59):
we're not going to Italy, comes in, jumps in the car,
starts at the rear of the Field and wins the race.
I mean, that's a pretty cool story right now. Damn
Parker Kligerman. Now he has two wins, doesn't he.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
Well, he's got two wins that aren't in the record
books because he won the truck race in February, then
they got DQ and text that didn't count, and now
he won this race. But because the driver of record
is Connor Village, the record book says Connor Zillage won
that race.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
You know when the last time was that scenario happened
where a driver that started the race didn't win the race.
Speaker 10 (08:33):
Milwaukee Mile two thousand and nine.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
Yep, right here at the mile when the big Eric
al Moola Denny Hamlin dust up, remember that. Yeah, they
couldn't land the helicopter and a rock Line automotive insisted
on having Hamlin in the car, and yeah.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
Fite the story.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Things happen sometimes, And also so that that was a
pretty dan good show at Daytona on Friday night. And
then of course last night Ryan Blainey averaged one hundred
and thirty point nine zero nine and leads a pretty
good race. Today there is no NASCAR race on TV,
so there is absolutely no reason you can't. If not
(09:16):
attend the Milwaukee Mile, actually watch it on channel six
or forty seven, and that race gets underway at one
twenty this afternoon. Before I go any further, let's say
happy birthday to our fantastic engineer Matt Losi, who's celebrating today.
This is this is a kind of a big deal
from Matt. Matt, Are you fifty yet? I can't remember.
(09:39):
I love these young guys. You're thirty five, thirty five.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
There we go.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
That's what we'd like to hear. The ARCA series ran
at Madison Friday night. Brian, you were at that one
huh oh oh it is it's ten after already, it's
time for our first break. Never mind, we'll be back
right after these.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Well, there's lots of things going on. I think we'll
just save that ARCA stuff for a little later in
the program when we actually do that. I was just
gonna check in with Brian, But there's been lots of
things happening, and uh, well one of the things we're
kind of excited about around here. I am absolutely positive
that this was a complete coincidence. But the day after
(13:01):
Matt Crafton takes out his teammate for a shot at
a win, got into some oil and nobody blamed anybody.
He announced that he's going to retire at the end
of the season and that our own time at Jeski
is going to finally get himself a major deal with Minards,
(13:24):
a state sponsor on and he's going to take take
over the yellow number eighty eight truck next year. It's
a big deal for Tye and we're pretty excited for.
Speaker 10 (13:35):
Him, don't. I don't think Crafted announced that. I think announced, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
What you want to announce, you're retiring.
Speaker 19 (13:44):
Well, they're actually wording it that he won't be running
full time any longer.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
So well that's how it is.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Okay, Well, He has been doing a lot of dirt
track racing over the last few years. He runs an
a mod over the state of Iowa and specials where
they run him and he is a very busy guy.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
But he's very into youth racing.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, yeah, easy either way, it's good for It's really
wonderful for a time with Jeske to finally hook up
with a sponsor that, you know, would be nice if
they just stayed together his whole career and on all
Wisconsin kind of a deal there, wouldn't you know.
Speaker 19 (14:20):
It's not out of the realm of possibility. Look at
how long Minards was with Matt crafton you know, I
mean this could be this could.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Be it good stuff over twenty years worth and amazingly enough,
so good stuff all the way around. Also announced this
with a lot of announcements. As we're getting towards the
end of the season, we're hearing things. O'Reilly Auto Parts
is going to be the new title sponsor of what
used to be the Bush Series and is now the
(14:49):
Exfinity Series. Are they gonna call it the O'Reilly Auto
Parts Series or just the O'Reilly Series?
Speaker 8 (14:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (14:57):
Officially right now, it's the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
But I can't imagine TV announcers having to say that
every time you mentioned the series, they're gonna have to
shorten it down someone.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah, you would think so, so I wish they would have.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
I wish they would have kept the word, you know,
Grand National, you know, said the NASCAR Grand National Series
presented by O'Reilly or something like that, you know, that
National series something, so that if you keep changing sponsors
like this, you can keep the name, you know, the
Cup Series finally did it. We had you know, Winston Cup,
Sprint Cup, you know, Next Cup, all that kind of stuff. Yeah,
(15:28):
and now they just went to the Cup Series and
then you have your associate sponsors. I was hoping that
they would do that to this and get the old
Grand National name back because that's what I remember as
a kid.
Speaker 8 (15:39):
But it doesn't sound like they want to do that.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
While all these things were being announced this week, NASCAR
hit a little announcement of their own. They finally announced
the schedules for all the series for next year, and
as was no surprise whatsoever, Phoenix is no longer the
championship race. We knew it was going back to southern Florida.
But this is going to be the earliest Phoenix Fall
(16:07):
race that they've ever had in the middle of October,
where it's kind of iffy sometimes it's still up in
the one hundred degrees area there in the at the
end of the month, it makes a big difference right there.
But Brian, were there any big surprises after all the
rumors that have been off the last few weeks?
Speaker 8 (16:26):
No, not really.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
I mean I was kind of surprised that they're going
to go ahead and do the All Star Race at Dover.
I don't quite understand what they're thinking is behind that.
You know, you don't have the lights, you don't have
all that. It's cool that North Wilkesboro as a points race.
I think that's big. Some just scheduling things on the calendar,
which kind of caught me off guard. Going to Watkins
Glen on Mother's Day May tenth is kind of a
(16:49):
head scratcher to me because New York weather is a
lot like weather here, and I mean, would we have
a major event here that early in May.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
Probably not, you know.
Speaker 6 (16:59):
Just for instance, the PGA Championship, which Whistling Straits has
hosted for years, has been moved to May, and basically
they took Whistling Straits off of the list forever because
the weather's to iffy. Well, now you're gonna go run
a race there at the time of year, So that's
kind of weird. I would have personally put that the
fourth of July weekend and then put North Wilkesboro there
(17:20):
and then had Chicago later in July, but that's not
the way they went with it.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
So what's with all of the road courses.
Speaker 19 (17:28):
I feel like we're just like really putting road courses
all over the place.
Speaker 6 (17:32):
Yeah, I mean it's it's the same amount we had
last year. They haven't really added any so that's gonna
be the same. You kind of swapped Mexico City for
the one in San Diego, and then you know, we
dropped the streets of Chicago, so we added Chicago Land
back and that is going to be the fourth of
July weekend. So Wisconsin fans, we have no NASCAR races
(17:53):
once again in the state of Wisconsin for the second year.
Interesting thing to look though, when you look at the
truck schedule. The trucks are going to.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
Run at Saint Petersburg with the IndyCar series.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
It's the IndyCar Opener, and it's going to be like
the second or third race of the year for the
truck series on that street circuit, and it's kind of
a tie in with Fox. So Wisconsin fans, this is
just me getting my crayon. You know, my crayon's out
in my coloring book right here where we sit now
at the Milwaukee Mile.
Speaker 8 (18:20):
We did host truck races for years.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
If the powers that bea can get their head together,
it looks like IndyCar and NASCAR are looking to run
together again. This would be the perfect place to have
a truck IndyCar doubleheader. I mean, it's not gonna happen
in twenty six, but hey, let's make that happen in
twenty seven. If you're going to do it on the
streets of Saint Petersburg.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
Why not here.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I agree with that based on recent television ratings, the
trucks are gonna outdraw the Indy cars anyway, isn't that interesting?
And then having them on the same weekend, well, we'll
be able to check how that goes.
Speaker 10 (18:54):
Especially if you let Cup guys run the truck races more.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Now, yeah, how about that?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Remember how great The rule was when they came up
and they said, everybody got sick of see and Kyle
Busch jump into a truck or jump into an Exfinity
Slash Bush Slash O'Reilly Carr and go out and kick
everybody's ass and then yeah, everything, Yeah, I'm really sick
of watching Kyle Busch win all these races. So they say, okay,
there's a new rule. The Cup drivers can only drive
(19:22):
in X amount of races per year, and then that's it.
We can't have you stinking up our developmental series show. Well,
in the meantime, the TV networks got together and said,
you know what if we had some more Cup drivers
in our races, in the trucks an Exfinity series, maybe
we'd have more viewers. Well, hello, it's all about the drivers.
(19:43):
That's what it's always been about. You need some stars,
you need some up and coming guys. It's a wonderful mix.
And NASCAR is quote open to more Cup drivers in
those series next year. Well isn't that a coincidence?
Speaker 6 (19:59):
And that's kind of because as you have separate networks
running them all now, you know, for years we had
the same network cover all three series. When you're at
a track for the weekend. Well, now, especially this time
of the year, you have the Truck Series, which is
specifically this Fox. You have the CW with exclusive rights
to Exfinity and right now we're running NBC, but you
have you know, uh Prime and all those other networks. Yeah,
(20:19):
so they're all fighting for those drivers to be on
their networks again.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Now that's what it is. It's all about the drivers.
We're glad you're tuned in. The boys are in the
infield at the Milwaukee Mile. And when I tell you
they're in the infield, you have no idea. We'll be
back right after.

This was a busy week Dan, and I thought we'd
get a little bit of an update.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
What's going on again?
Speaker 10 (23:56):
Yeah, we had some moving in both the lawsuits that
are out there.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
To start the first one that Legacy Motorsports lawsuit against
Rickware wasting. They were trying to prevent them from selling
their charters to that DJ Puocher.
Speaker 10 (24:07):
They got that injunction.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
They agreed the court agreed that they can't do it
until the trial.
Speaker 10 (24:13):
And that original suit is in January.
Speaker 7 (24:15):
So I remember that was the one where rick Ware
had the two charters he least one to the to
Rauish for the sixty car right now, and he ran
the other one. He was gonna flip that a round
and least the one he's running now to the sixty
and run the other one. In the meantime, somebody made
a deal with Legacy to sell one of the charters.
They couldn't figureut which one it was.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
That's the thing.
Speaker 10 (24:33):
The other one the big obviously the big lawsuit.
Speaker 7 (24:35):
With Michael Jordan's team at twenty three eleven and the
front Row Motorsports. NASCAR filed the emotion this week now
to things, they have buyers for the charters that are
in dispute, that people they will sell. They intend to
sell those charters if they win this lawsuit, and they
have people wind up to do it to buy it,
and they're gonna need some time if they're gonna run
(24:55):
in twenty twenty six, they're going to need to have
everything in place by October first and all they're doing that.
So they actually filed to say, hey, you know, we
get to make that injunction that said that they have
to run as they could run as charter teams, remember
they wanted originally then they lost it to Ano. They're
running as open teams. Well, they want to keep that.
They want to, you know, make that be for real
(25:17):
now and so we can they can sell their charters.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
They kind of go ahead.
Speaker 7 (25:22):
They accused them, Michael Jordan, of using the courts to
obtain a permanent charter that no one else has. They're
saying that he's only doing his lawsuits. So if he wins,
is he can have a charter that he can have
forever and nobody else can have. They also claim they
increase the payments to the team's twenty eight percent original charter,
dealing in another sixty two percent in the new agreement.
And they claim they pay more of their teams than
at one place pace their teams. It's funny they do
(25:44):
all this bath but they won't open up the books
to check it. So again, I think that's you know,
where it stands. I think if it goes to trial,
the side of the thing that NASCAR has to lose,
they haven't open up their books and they don't want
to do that, and then they may just you know, undo.
Speaker 10 (25:59):
The charters system altogether.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
I think Jordan wants to play it out to get
to that trial date, to force them to do that
and see if we can somehow settle and something come up. Otherwise,
if if if Jordan loses, they're going to lose their charters.
Speaker 10 (26:11):
NASCAR is going to sell them.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
The rick Ware thing, I mean, how can you put
a value on something that you don't know for sure
we are going to be using next year, right, I mean.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
That's all in flux right now if you look at it,
Look at the charters are in flex because of lawsuits.
The twenty three, the forty five, the thirty five, the four,
the thirty four to thirty eighth to sixty, and.
Speaker 10 (26:30):
The fifty one.
Speaker 7 (26:31):
That's eight charters that are up in the air as
far as what's going to happen with them, all depending
on lawsuits.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
And I'm a.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Little curious how NASCAR says they can sell those charters.
They took them back from Michael Jordan in Front Roll.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
Well, in the beginning they said, you didn't sign the agreement,
you don't have them. Then they filed and said, well,
until this thing is resolved, you have to let us
run as a chartered car. The team's won that originally
that was and then another judge appeals came and said, Nope.
Speaker 10 (27:01):
You can't. If you didn't sign agreement, you got to
run as an uncharted car.
Speaker 7 (27:05):
So NASCAR STA kind of got them back when they're like, well, okay,
well that's what's gonna be. We're gonna sell them now.
I mean, the teams are filing a motion to say no.
You know, they kind of appealed that ruling kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
I don't know about you, guys, PJ. It seems to
me that NASCAR seems like they would really love to
sell those things themselves, wouldn't they.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Oh my gosh, are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Yes?
Speaker 19 (27:28):
Hello, If there's an opportunity to make money, NASCAR's down
for it. And I don't think and I think they
really care what the optics look like. How they got
the opportunity to sell it.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
And as we have mentioned on this show in the past, Nascar,
I don't think anybody in the upper echelon of NASCAR
expected the charter system to go absolutely that crazy, and
as it has, we're talking about so many millions to
sell these things which were basically get given away by
(28:01):
NASCAR in the beginning. Think about that and how they're going,
what do you mean we just gave it to them
and they just sold it for fifty million dollars?
Speaker 1 (28:09):
How can this.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
Happen, and in the court rulings, the names of the
people that are interested are there, but they're all redacted.
So if you can get an unredacted copy of that
of that court filing, would be interesting to see who's
who's lined up as potential buyers.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
And they'll all say, we'll sign whatever agreements that we
have to sign. NASCAR, well, we think your your pay
system is really good. You gotta hand it to Michael
Jordan for being a savvy businessman and for trying to
hold NASCAR's finger to the flame. But I never ever
(28:43):
thought that it was going to actually work. And even
though we're getting as we inch closer to the date
than December, NASCAR will do anything as we have mentioned,
to not open their books. What's next out of the
court system? Stay tuned, it sure will be interesting. We're
(29:05):
really happy you tuned in. The boys are at the
Milwaukee Mile sitting in the infield as they're getting ready
to watch some indy car racing. We're gonna sneak away

Kick Welcome back to LTN. Glad you spent a little
time with us on a Sunday morning. Uh, there was
a Dale Junior download. That is important. I think this
week more important than usual. Our old friend Ted Musgrave,
who lived in Wisconsin for a long time. I didn't
(32:06):
even realized that they moved out of Northern Illinois when
Ted was still a kid and moved up to Adam's Friendship,
which I learned by watching that, which was pretty interesting.
But you might want to check that out. Lots of
interesting things and some stuff I hadn't known before.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Ted looked.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
He sounded a little nervous. I don't know. Maybe he
just doesn't he's not he works.
Speaker 8 (32:30):
If you don't, yeah.
Speaker 19 (32:31):
If you don't do those kinds of things all the time,
it might be a little nerve racking. And knowing that
that's probably arguably the most viewed and listened to podcast
for racing anyway, so it's probably a little nerve racking
for somebody.
Speaker 7 (32:47):
Plus it's been a while since he had the practice
with us, he was on all the time with us
and he raised.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Yeah no, kiddy. Hey.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Speaking of popular podcasts, if you haven't seen pj's Racing
Nuggets yet, you really should watch it. It's available everywhere.
And PJ this week Matt.
Speaker 19 (33:04):
Weaver, who just took a new role with motorsport dot Com.
So if you want to kind of hear a little
background story on Matt Weaver, check that out on either
YouTube or anywhere that you download your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Is arguably one of the more important journalists in the
world of the motor racing and it's I think it's
a coup that you got the guy and the fact
that he just got a new job to what's he
going to do.
Speaker 19 (33:31):
He's basically going to be doing a lot of writing
for Motorsport. It's kind of like kind of created the
position for him, and he's going to have freedom to
be able to continue to do his short track scene
thing that he started up as well too, So that's
what's really nice.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
And then don't forget if you want, you can alwayst
download the LTN podcast available on iHeart, iTunes or wherever
you download your favorite show. This has been the week
for announcements. As we mentioned, there was a few other ones,
but I think it's kind of a big deal that
they finally figured out who's going to be the Dodge team.
(34:12):
They talked to several guys, they talked to several teams.
They had to work out all the particulars and it
took a while, but they finally ended up with Colleague Racing,
which is a Chevrolet team. So you're gonna have Cheves
in the Cup garage, Chevyes in the Exfinity Slash O'Reilly garage,
(34:36):
and Dodges in the truck garage. Now, this is the
same team that does the ten and sixteen car, Almendinger
and Dylan for the for the Cup Series and the
ten and eleven teams Exfinity. They've been changing drivers over there,
haven't they in the Exfinity car? I thought they did.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
They they haven't.
Speaker 7 (34:56):
Yeah, and they just replaced Josh Williams and the eleven
that was the change of me. They're interesting to hear
that the five teams in the trucks and it may
be all self funded by RAM so kind of like
when Everham had the Dodge deal number the nine to
nineteen responsored by Dodge. Now it could be self funded
by Ram, but up to five trucks. Interesting, who's gonna
drive them?
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Five?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Yes, And there it might open the door for some
people that you know, are all in h in very
good cahoots with the colleague, say for instance from Stratford, Wisconsin.
But we'll just keep a close eye on things and
see see how that turns out. The other announcement, first
(35:35):
of all, it was kind of a not a surprise.
We didn't really know where they were going to end up.
There were rumors but calling you know, as the one
that survived.
Speaker 8 (35:43):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
We did know that Connor Zillish, who is the hottest
young property to come up the system in some time. Uh,
and we knew he was going to end up with
track House Racing. He's under contract for him right now.
But anyway, he was announced officially, but they did not
announce what car number it's going to be. Now it's
(36:06):
assumed it's going to be number ninety nine because that's
the car that right now swore As is driving and
he's going to be replacing. However, we don't really know
exactly what Red Bull is going to want to do
with their marketing so on, Dan, I guess there's a
couple of possibilities out there, right.
Speaker 7 (36:25):
Yeah, there could be all depends back right now, he's
he's the eighty seven in the Cup series?
Speaker 10 (36:29):
Did they have like die cast and all that kind
of stuff going on? He's winning in the eighty eight
and the Expinity Series?
Speaker 7 (36:34):
You know what do they consider him as as associated
with that number more? I know, I Van Gisbergen's won
four races in the eighty eight and the Cup side,
I think as a come down to who sells more merchandise,
Zilli's or Ben Gizbergen, and how what the sponsors want
to do as far as the car number and putting
all that together so that it could be eighty seven
and they have a ninety nine goal somewhere else or
(36:55):
we moved to the ninety nine.
Speaker 10 (36:56):
It depends on what the sponsors want, which is what
red Bull and I think some weather tech.
Speaker 6 (36:59):
Maybe whether tech, Yeah weather tech is on there quite
a bit as well, but whether weather tech has been
pretty much you know a lot with Van Gisbergen because.
Speaker 8 (37:06):
You know, whether tech the road racing ties there.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
So yeah, it'll be very interesting to see, I mean
and Shane van Visitor. I mean last night ran really
well too, So you know, it's not a lot that
here you're gonna have Zillich come in there and he's
gonna up perform Shane just like that. I don't know
that that could be the case. You could be seeing Shane,
you know, running up there next year and and he
could give Connor a run for his money as to
(37:28):
who's the top guy over.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
There, Isn't it?
Speaker 7 (37:31):
Isn't it weird that you're normally the veteran driver comes
into perrove and driver and kind of ups the rookie
up this game, and it's kind of up.
Speaker 10 (37:38):
So the rookie is coming in here and kind of
up with the veterans game.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yeah, with all the talent supposedly that SVG has, he's
he's gonna feel the pressure, I think from a young
guy he probably already does. You know what, though they
compliment each other very well, they're learning from each other,
and I really believe that this is going to be
a powerhouse. Who would have thought, but getting this Zillish
(38:03):
kid is a major thing. And whether it's ninety nine
or eighty seven or whatever, they end up with good
for tracks.
Speaker 10 (38:11):
You just gotta stop getting hurt.
Speaker 19 (38:12):
Yeah, I was just gonna say that Dan as I say,
you gotta be careful. I don't know if anyone else
is like me anytime you see anybody at any level
of race and getting out and standing on the window
like that anymore.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
Now, I just panic a little bit, like.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Don't fall, no kidding, and don't forget.
Speaker 6 (38:28):
You still have Ross chest stay in there, and if anything,
this might up his entire game as well. You know,
he's kind of been sitting there knowing he always performs
better than Surez all the time. Now, now you're gonna
have two guys, you know, one zillach or you're gonna
expect to see win right away.
Speaker 8 (38:41):
But then Shane, who's running much better.
Speaker 6 (38:43):
Now, Ross is gonna have to get on it and
show that he's worth his spot all the time now, and.
Speaker 19 (38:49):
Ross is gonna have to be a little more cautiously
aggressive instead of just aggressive, yep.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
Instead of doing his best earnier. Let's all remember, it's
not a slam dunk. The village is gonna come in
here and win right away, like we assume. We all
thought Ty Gibbs was going to do the same, and
here we sit now two full years later, and Ty
still doesn't want to race. So let's let's see what
Zillage does here. Because you know, I think.
Speaker 19 (39:15):
It's a little bit different though, Brian, because it's kind
of the people around you and whether we like it
or not. I think that a lot of people, even
though it was the Joe Gibbs team, I still think
that the silver spoon syndrome was kind of a bit
of a undercurrent, that entitledness that maybe kind of was
a pervasive thing through that pit.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
For the Gibbs team.
Speaker 19 (39:33):
I don't think you see that with Connor Zilich, and
I think he's very respectful of all the people on
the team.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Very true.
Speaker 8 (39:39):
Yeah, I agree with that, yep.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
And Gibbs, you know, as we all thought, was going
to do a lot better than he has. And now
the networks are picking up on the discord over there
and you're hearing little things. I love it when they
tune in and hear him bitching at his kerchief. It's yeah,
that's great stuff. We're glad you're tuned in. We're gonna
come back with some results. After we sneak away for
(40:02):
a break. LTN returns right after these.

Noah Gregson was there, he finished twenty third. Thursday night
up at the Wisconsin International Raceway, your super Late Model
feature winner was Riley's Steenjem with Chase Motorsports. In his

(47:17):
Norway got rained out, so the super late Model champion
was crowned and that was Joey Pontbriand in his Toby
Car Arkha Menard series was that Madison International Speedway. The
winner was Max Reeves. He led all two hundred laps.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
Ran was there.
Speaker 8 (47:33):
Yes, that was a dominant performance.
Speaker 6 (47:35):
There's one point in time after the lap seventy five
break where Butterbeane McQueen got underneath him once and I
thought maybe there's gonna be a race that came upon
lap traffic and Max got through it better and it
was game over after that.
Speaker 19 (47:49):
All Star Challenge Series winner at that same event was
Zach Riddle in his Toby Car. Grundy County Speedway Late
Model Feature winner Michael Builder back in Atoby Car and
then onto yesterday and last night the Jay SIRA All
Star Tour at Jennerstown Speedway for the Motor Mountain Masters,
Your winner was Evan Shotgo Marshfield Super Marshville Motor Speedway
(48:09):
Super Late Model winner was Jared Bohrer. Jefferson Speedway Big
Doings last night for the Orange Blossoms Special in honor
of Jerry Eckhart twin sixty one lap features. The first
one went to Paul Schaefer, the second went to Billy
Brawn while he crossed the line first but ended up
being deemed eight pounds too light in tech. That handed
the win over to Will Reese, who drives a Toby Car.
(48:32):
It was a tie for the overall between Casey Johnson
and Jason Rickson, which is amazing Johnson in a super
late model Ericson in a limited late model. The tiebreaker
was qualifying because Johnson set fast time, so he gets
the overall title for the Orange Blossoms Special the six.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Casey Johnson won fifty four hundred dollars for his being
overall winner, and there were five different drivers other than
case that won over three thousand bucks.
Speaker 5 (49:02):
That's pretty awesome for short track racing. For Suore.
Speaker 19 (49:06):
Six of two late Models were in action last night,
two at Jefferson. Brian Johnson Senior was the winner there.
Dell's Raceway Park had the Wallback Classic going on double
late Model features. First one went to Nick Noden, the
second to Mike Litchfield. The CWRA was there running as
well with twin features. Mark mckasee the winner of the first,
Dylan mackasee the winner of the second, with the overall
(49:28):
winner being Mark mckasee. And then of course today we
will be running at Slinger Speedway, the Wall of Fame,
the Miss Slinger Reunion and Alumni Night, super Lates, Legends, Bandoleros,
super Bees and Sportsmen all going to be in action.
Speaker 3 (49:43):

Weekend with fireworks and all that stuff, is the last one.
So you want to get out to see the super
Lates at Slinger, you got two weeks left tonight and
next week. And and congratulations to everybody going on the
Wall of Fame, Todd and Elizabeth Thielen, Bob Schneider Junior,
(50:07):
and Cindy Bladel Peterson Nickerson the only female to ever
win a Super late Model race at Slinger Speedway. All
going on the Wall of Fame tonight to join Dan
and myself. So that's pretty pretty cool stuff. And see
you out there for the Allen Twicki Memorial thirty seven
hundred and seventy seven dollars to win. We'll be back
after these.

Speaker 3 (53:58):
We are one step closer to having every single person
in the playoffs having won a race. Fourteen out of
sixteen drivers won a race. Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman
are the two non winners. And you know it would
be hard to think either one of them doesn't have
(54:19):
a shot at this thing, because they're both great drivers
and both very capable, and they just haven't won a
race yet. So that being said, next week they go
to Darlington, of all places on you know, that's pretty
great that they're there on Labor Day weekend next week,
that's the traditional date and they're back there and it's
(54:40):
it's all cool, that's for sure, but especially.
Speaker 5 (54:42):
With Cookout as their sponsor.
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Yeah, yeah, no, kiddie Brian.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
Speaking of Cookout, I had asked you what this kid
that won at the Ark Race in max Reeves, Max
Reeves and he's got some ties there. I guess, huh.
Speaker 8 (54:59):
His family owns go Out.
Speaker 6 (55:00):
So that's a big, big money influence he got there
with that money coming in. I mean that kid, that
kid's talented and he's fairly down to earth. I heard
him talk a couple different times, you know, well well rehearsed.
Speaker 8 (55:11):
He doesn't seem flat.
Speaker 4 (55:12):
You know, how old is a young guy?
Speaker 8 (55:15):
Yeah? I think he's like eighteen maybe, okay, something like that.
Speaker 6 (55:18):
He hasn't able to run the big races yet, so
he's been running just the short track races and I
believe he might be on the dirt at to Coin
next week as well. Cookout again is what It's a
restaurant down in the South.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
It's a restaurant, a.
Speaker 10 (55:34):
Chance, it's like a chain.
Speaker 7 (55:36):
Interesting about that ARCA series, Brian and they got to
go to Portland, don't they.
Speaker 10 (55:39):
It's a little bit of a logistics issue there.
Speaker 6 (55:41):
Yeah, it's talking with Matt Mallarder drives the truck for
the Gibbs team and the ARCO West Series is the
companion with Portland for the Infinity Series next weekend. This
is the last appearance by the Infinity Series of Portland.
They're not on the schedule there next year, so Gibbs
is sending their West Coast ARCA car out with them.
I think maybe Brett Cruse might be driving it next week,
either Brett Cruise or conor Mosak one or the other
(56:03):
next week out there, and then the actual regular ARCA
team has to go to the coin to raise the
coin on Sunday night at the Illinois State Fairgnes on
the dirt, so a lot of moving parts there with
some of those ARCA teams.
Speaker 3 (56:16):
Unbelievable. We have to start thinking about who's not going
to make it through the first round. Well, we've got
like a week to get this thing figured out.
Speaker 4 (56:24):
But you know this is going to happen.
Speaker 19 (56:30):
I was I was going to throw in earlier, but
I just wasn't able to chime in that. Max Reeves
actually came and ran that Midwest Tour how he let
out classic if you recall, so it's not like that
was his first time ever being to the track. Deliberately
ran that race for the Midwest Tour in order to
get some track time.
Speaker 5 (56:46):
And finished eleventh.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
So some talent by the way, Brian, what was the
car count for the for the ARCA Series twenty two?
Speaker 6 (56:54):
They had twenty two cars there, so pretty good field.
It's it's up over the last couple of years.
Speaker 18 (56:58):
Now.
Speaker 6 (56:58):
They just got to get a couple more competitive vehicles
out there, you know. Right now it's just a handful
of cars that are so much better than everybody else.
But you know, the struggle is real for some of
those teams, and you see the haves and the have nots.
You go to ARCA and you could definitely see it.
But I think it's improving. Car counts are a thing.
There are there are some strong ones. We had a
(57:19):
nice field of cars last night that Jefferson. And yet
they ran at Marshfield with seven super lates last night
and that's Oh, that's scary when you think about it.
And yet you know there's they continue to try and
put on a show for the fans, and we hope
that everybody can support these short tracks so that they
(57:40):
can do what they do. And it's a it's a
funny business to be and you know, you got some
tracks are very successful. Some are right on the borderline,
and those are the ones we have to keep an
eye out for and.
Speaker 10 (57:54):
They might see I feel extra hitt slayer for the
colloquy memorial.
Speaker 3 (57:59):
Oh that's that's pretty cool. Anyone we can mention offhand?
Speaker 10 (58:04):
I heard maybe Jeff storm is one of them.
Speaker 7 (58:07):
There are a couple of the ones i'd seen that
had put on that they were going to come. So
hopefully leave on Levon Vanity looks like you should be there.
Speaker 19 (58:13):
I would bet he'll be there, especially with it being
the Kowiki memorial.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Ah, yes, yes, but that's that's cool to have Jeff storming.
He's actually coming a sling of speedway. He doesn't race
there very often, and it's appreciate should.
Speaker 19 (58:25):
Be there, because didn't he He's the one that named
the trouble and turned four bar.
Speaker 3 (58:30):
