Speaker 1 (00:06):
Lad, you're on board with Ultimate Outdoors Radio, I want
a quest to bring the outdoors to you.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Once again.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Our resident guides to the outdoors, the Captain and the
Wall Dog.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Hey good Saturday morning. This is Wally the wall Doog
Banfi along with Captain Terry. Friday morning, Captain well Walldog.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Another Saturday morning.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
In the wintery woods of Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
I really beginning to like this no snow deal. Yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Yeah, we had some cold weather, but man, it's been
kind of a nice winter and probably pretty easy on
the heating and the wood piles and you don't have
to go plowing through snow and running in the ditch
and everything. So I guess we'll take it. But you
know what, we're still talking fishing. A lot of fish
and shows coming up. Our first guest this week is
(01:16):
going to be ishmun Roe, Ish professional bass fisherman. He
is going to be at the Wisconsin Fishing Expo show.
But Isshu has really competed everywhere. He's actually competed in
Lacrosse for a few of the bass Master events I
covered down there. So he's always a good interview, good
to talk to. Nice guy, and he'll be doing a
(01:37):
seminar at the expo. Then coming up Mike Beseret. Mike
is the owner of the Milwaukee Musky Expo, which is
going to be in West Bend, Wisconsin, February fourteen, fifteen sixteen.
I would say for any of this info just go
to the websites.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
I know.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
The neat thing about the Milwaukee Muskie Show. The grand
prize is a VA package to cave run Lake Tony Grant,
who we've interviewed, h pretty neat day of guided day
of muskie fishing and then about five days of lodging
or something like that. So might win that even if
you attend otherwise. Every week we get to talk about gear.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
Now, which time for the Ultimate gear Heads. This week's
gearhead segment is followed by Middleton four Middleton, Wisconsin.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Hey, before you start spending all your money on outdoor gear,
have the Ultimate Gearheads check it out.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
They will set you straight. Hey, folks, good time.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Take that vehicle over and get her detail, get her
smelling good, shined up. Check her out over at Middleton
Ford Wally. What are we talking about today?
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeap?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
This week's really cool piece of gear is a tip up.
It's the original beaver Dam tip up. In the nineteen thirties,
three ice fishermen in the beaver Dam area, Fred Kringeyon,
Albert tuck Kochowski and George Beers began assembling their own
classic tip up in a basement. They started selling them
for beer money. Little did they know that millions of
(03:05):
beers would be drink on the ice waiting for a
flag on a beaver Damn tip up still made by hand.
Beaver Damp tip ups are crafted on a custom finished
board with trouble free operation. They use freeze proof grease
and a super smooth spool to trick even the finnichyist
of game fish. A new beaver Damn tip up today's
sells for around sixty bucks. Captain.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Well, there's a lot of big words in that little segment,
but you know what, who'd have thought beer sales would
be up because of a tip up?
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Huh?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, it's great to watch boards, to send them out
for walleyes, and you know, you can have three per
person and up in our area and suck. That's why
people have so many kids, Captain, so they can put
more boards out.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Yeah, and you buy extra beer because you don't want
to run out anyway, Wally in news kind of interesting,
you know, the whole electric craze, the electric outboard craze
is coming. Minnesota reported that over fifty lakes combustle internal
combustion engines are banned. Wow, fifty lakes in Minnesota. So
(04:06):
what are people doing. They're buying electric boat motors, and
I see Mercury's jumping on board. This is interesting. It's
called the torqueedos. The batteries are pretty expensive, more expensive
than the motor, it says, But Mercury jumped into it
with a variety electric outboards. Yamaha just bought a German
(04:29):
manufacturer named Torketo, and Mercury's offering a variety of those,
some of them up to twenty five hords. So you know,
if you don't have to go far, maybe not a bad.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Deal makes sense, don't need gas, doesn't smell up the area,
and they've got a lot of torque. Now they're getting
better and better.
Speaker 7 (04:48):
Captain Loggy, I think, find the batteries.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
What do you got, Wally.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
We've got a couple of quick events. The twenty second
Annual Intermediate and Advanced Muskie School be held at Wannakee
High School Saturday, March twenty second. Get a hold of
Duffy Cup if you want to learn more. And also

signing up people as guides. We're gonna limit it to
(05:13):
eighty boats and there is a banquet afterwards. It's all
held at the Alliant Energy Center. Amazing event, Captain. Up
to date we've raised about eight hundred and twenty thousand dollars,
so let's get it up to a million.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
All right, One more quick one. Here is the This
is from a listener that sent me this payol I, Wisconsin.
Sounds like a pretty cool little place.
Speaker 4 (05:33):

(08:47):
Mike and his crew do an awesome job of bringing
the muskie community together each year for these two events
that attract muskie hunters from all over the United States
and Canada. Mike Vezrett, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 11 (08:58):
Hey, thank you very much. We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Mike.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
The Chicago Muskie Show took place recently and how did
that go?
Speaker 11 (09:05):
The show went off great. We had actually good weather
for a change. That's like a first in the last
ten years that I've seen where we didn't have an
ice storm, a snowstorm. We had some cold weather on Sunday,
but that didn't stop the crowds from coming out, So
it was It was a great show. It was absolutely great.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Awesome. What are the dates and location for the upcoming
Milwaukee Musky Expo?
Speaker 11 (09:26):
Yeah, we called it the Milwaukee Musky Expo just because
it's the actual oldest musky expo in existence. It started
in Milwaukee and now it's actually up in West Bend.
We're just south of West Bend, right off a Highway
forty five, and it's a great location. It's a two
building facility. One of the biggest reasons why we moved
up there is just you don't have ten dollars parking.
It's all free parking. It's a very clean venue, very
(09:50):
safe venue, just great people that actually run that facility.
They allow us to bring in our own food vendor.
We've got a great guy from the Barbecue Company come
this year. They actually do actually not gouch with six
dollars beers, which is unheard of in any of these
shows anymore. They're all ten twelve dollars even like the
park and being free is huge because a lot of
(10:11):
places are ten or twelve bucks for parking. So it's
a really nice, clean venue. We've got a great lineup
of vendors coming, perennial favorites like Suck, Musky Innovations, Musky Mayhem,
but then we also got classics like Suik and we
also have classics like Bobby Bates, just all sorts of
(10:32):
variety of baits. You'll see tackle, you'll see Rod's reels,
you name, it's all there.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
I've been to the event there in West End and
Terry is also really very clean building. And again free
parking is great. You can spend a little more money
on lures. There's every muskyleur you could ever imagine at
that show, and some new ones. And roughly how many
boots are there, Mike, and how many seminars are there?
Speaker 11 (10:56):
Well, the boot totals there's one hundred and twenty boots
in the show. But I mean we probably only have
like seventy vendors just because some of these guys like
Thorne Brothers shows up and puts an incredible spread of
product out. They take up they're they're our biggest vendor.
But you know, even Team Reinolds takes up a lot
of space too, so they bring everything under the sun.
So so that part of it's great. And then also
(11:18):
every day we do have speakers. We start off on
Friday with John Betty, great great tactical guy. Gus Manley Manny,
He's a he's a guy out of the North End,
north Woods, awesome talent. Saturday, we start with Steve Jensen,
We've got Jeff Vanner Mortal, and then we do have
a panel speaking at two o'clock. It's kind of a
(11:40):
broad based of questions and answer type people with with
some serious experience in these guys. And then of course
on Saturday, we close up with Musky Insiders Josh Barowski,
who's kind of landed on the scene in the Musky
world since the end of Muskie Hunter. Uh, the Musky
Insider has really kind of taken a place for disseminating
(12:00):
the information to the muskie world. So that's all on Saturday,
and then on Sunday we've got our very own veteran
guide Andrew Shira that, believe it or not, he's a
part time EMT guy too, and he actually saved one
of our vendors a couple of years ago at our
Chicago show. So it's it's nice to have a couple
of guys that are trained medically any shows.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
So awesome, awesome, what a great lineup of seminars. And
are there some family activities or things for kids at
the show.
Speaker 11 (12:29):
Well, you know, this is not really a kid centric thing.
I mean, we give away one hundred T shirts every
show to the little guys. But you know, to say
that we've got like a fishing pond or any of
that stuff. Now, I mean, Musky is Musky, I don't.
Musky is a fish at ten thousand casts, and it's
it's not for it's not for small children. I mean
(12:49):
they can do it, but throwing these bigger baits and
throwing these bigger things and then catching a forty inch fish,
I mean, it's it just it takes some strength. And
there's plenty of women in the sport too, and kids
do show ups, so it's not like it's terrible for kids.
It's just that's we're not a kid focused show.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeahteen the website, we're Mike where people can learn more
and see who some of the vendors are and stuff.
Speaker 11 (13:12):
Oh yeah, yeah, it's all on Muskyexpo dot com and
you just click on the Milwaukee page and everything is
on there. The speaker lineup, the vendor lineup, everything's right there.
Our hours are on there. Friday we do one to
one to seven, Saturday we do nine to five, and
then Sunday we do nine to two. So barring off
(13:33):
good good weather weekend, which I hope we looks like
we're going to have. With the forecast that we have
in front of us, I think we're gonna have another
awesome show.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
So, folks, we're visiting with Mike Vezzarette, promoter for the
Milwaukee Musky Expo, which would be held in West Bend, Wisconsin.
The dates are February fourteen, fifteen and sixteen. Free parking
and a ton to see Mike.
Speaker 11 (13:55):
Yeah. Absolutely, Thanks Wally.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Thanks for being our guests and good luck at the show.
Speaker 11 (14:01):
Appreciate it.

this year, check out exclusively Walleye Guide Service Mike. You
can get a gift certificate. Probably a good time to
book a trip right now and get ahead of the gang,
because obviously Green Bay will be good once again.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
Well join me dan.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Aultimate Outdoors Radio. We actually have a professional bass fisherman
who is going to be at the Wisconsin Fishing ex Bowl.
Most of you will recognize as name ishmun Roll. Good morning,
Ish Morning.
Speaker 15 (16:03):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (16:04):
We're doing great?
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Hey, really nice you to come back again. I know,
I think it was two years or something. Real A
lot of people excited to see you and come to
the seminar. So before we get into the seminar is so,
what are your goals and what are you fishing this
year for chasing bass?
Speaker 4 (16:23):
What tournament search?
Speaker 15 (16:25):
I'm fishing the bas Open Division one, which is that
central division that's going to slide basically from Texas all
the way up to Minnesota. I'm fishing the BAM Super sixty,
which is a new tour that's out here out West
sixty guys first place fifty dollars, and then they also
(16:46):
have a pro Am division. And then I'll be fishing
some team tournaments and some wan baths. So I got
a pretty full schedule next year, including doing a bunch
of seminars all over the country.
Speaker 7 (16:57):
So where did the BAM so called BAM tour come from?
Speaker 11 (17:01):
Ish?
Speaker 15 (17:03):
So we used to have a circuit called wild West
out here and it kind of went away. And so
Mark was saying Bass Angler Magazine decided that he wanted
to do something for the guys out west and make
a tour that you know, paid really well and highlighted
the best fishermen in the West.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
And then so that was an invite for sixty sixty guys.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Is that what it was?
Speaker 15 (17:30):
Yeah, So we had the We had the pro tour
last year, which was invitation, and then this year it
was invitation also qualification from his pro ams from last year.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Gotcha.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
Yeah, Just you know, I happened to be running through
your bio. I see you fished. I'll just run some
numbers for our listeners. Two hundred and sixty three tournament,
ten Classic appearances, twenty nine times, you were in the
money Man top thirty eighty seven times, twenty fifty eight.
But I have to ask you is do you get
(18:03):
the fish all over the US? Do you have favorites?
Would you rather fish the South or the North or
what's your thoughts?
Speaker 15 (18:11):
Oh man, I have to pick either the North or
the West. We have clear Lake out here, but I
heard you mentioned Green Bay and I am a huge
fan of Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Yeah, there's a couple big ones in there. Well, yes, yeah,
speaking of big bass, You're doing a seminar at Wisconsin
Fishing Expo February twenty one, twenty two, twenty three. For
our listeners, what are you going to be covering at
your two seminars one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
What are you going to be covering?
Speaker 15 (18:42):
Ish, Well, we're gonna be covering basically, some stories about
the tour, funny stories. I mean, you know, I've been
fishing tour for a long time, and so I've roomed
with Ike and John Cruise, and obviously, you know, with
the three of us, there's obviously going to be some
funny and some great stories. Ll and you know, we're
going to kind of get it. If you feel it,
(19:03):
you fish it, you know. And I think one of
the biggest mistakes most anglers make is if they don't
go with their gut feeling on things, and probably your
gut feeling is probably your first and best choice.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Yeah, And as any tournament fisherman knows, your gut feeling
change is an awful lot.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Should I stay? Should I go? What the heck should
I do?
Speaker 15 (19:26):
So?
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Ish? Any thoughts on the end. I know this is
a broad subject, but any thoughts on the forward facing
Most of the tournaments still running the forward facing gear.
Speaker 15 (19:39):
You know, I think that it's it's become a it's
very controversial. And you know, I'm a Lranz active target
guy and I used it to fish a tournament just
basically a couple of days ago, and it, I mean
I caught forty to fifty fish a day with it,
(20:00):
and you know, I didn't catch any big ones, but
I caught a lot of fish, and it helps me
to understand fish. I mean, having it and not having it.
I kind of like and missed the old ways of fishing.
But I also am embracing the fact that active target
is definitely a tool that everybody needs to have.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
Yeah, I think you use a good word embracing it. Yes,
you got a little lesson a minute. I have to
ask you, looking back at your career, is there one
thing that pops out that always stays in your mind?
Whatever it may be. You fished a lot of areas.
Speaker 15 (20:36):
I'd have to say Sturgeon Bay, missing the Classic bracket
format stands out to me because that was a really,
really bad deal where I was in the Classic one day,
out of the Classic, in the Classic, and then out
of the Classic again and probably one of the most
emotional times I've ever had. But a great tahery.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Yeah, well, I can say I think every tournament has
fishermen as went through that, So yes, we look forward
to seeing it to Wisconsin Fishing Expo twenty one twenty three.
I would say to listeners go to the website. ISH
has two seminar Saturday and Sunday. Yes, you have a
great day and thanks for taking time to do this
(21:22):
like that.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
You bet see you.

On this week's UDA, we are traveling out to uh
Out west of Colorado, where there was a all state
football player. Actually did a little NFL time there, but
he he got arrested.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
He decided he.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Was going to try and pull off a one point
two million cash heist. Interesting thing here was Wally. He
basically followed the van and decided to win the van
pulled over that he was going to rob this van,
so the van idea. The van driver had no idea
(24:57):
that someone was following her. She was carrying one point
a little over one point two million dollars. So the
cash was in two large black plastic crash bags, and
so that when the fellow the robber decided that he
was going to grab the bags and take off, he
(25:20):
couldn't carry the money because it was too heavy.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Wally, he didn't.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Realize that one point two million dollars was really heavy.
So the driver called nine one one and they found
the trash bags about seven hundred yards from where the
robbery took place. So that wasn't that wasn't planned out
real well.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
That guy must have been out of shape. He should
have been lifting some more weights to handle that money.
Speaker 7 (25:47):
I don't know, I don't know what two bags.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
I don't know how much that would weigh.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
But yeah, one point two million I suppose, depending on
the size of the bills, could be a lot of weight.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
So AnyWho kind of funny? What else you got, Wally?
Speaker 3 (26:03):
It's time now for our Spring Valley Kennel field Report.

DNR released a primary results of a Southwest Wisconsin CWD
deer end predator study. I would advise just go to
their website just right off the top of my hat.
There was twelve hundred animals in this study, seven hundred
and sixty GPS collars and tracking collars.
Speaker 7 (26:42):
What they found out the annual.
Speaker 5 (26:44):
Survival rate, probability So if for a female deer, if
it was uninfected, it at eighty three percent chance of surviving.
If it was CWD infected, it only had forty one
percent chance of surviving. That's like losing half your door.
Heard the males uninfected, they had a chance of sixty
nine percent of living if they were infected, seventeen percent
(27:09):
if they were CWD infected. So boy, losing like half
the dos and a third of the bucks. But I
would go to get all the details d in our website.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
But I don't know. Kind of interesting A lot.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
Of people can play they're not seeing any deer. I
don't know, Wally.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Wow, Hey, on a bright note, the area of fisheries,
I've been really well attended. We've got excellent ice this
year in our area here anywhere from twelve to fifteen
inches of good ice. So the Crystal Lake event hell
last weekend was very popular. Some really nice fish caught,
nice cropies, a few other ten pound catfish, someone caught
(27:47):
a carp a variety of stuff. Mirror Lakes Fishery went
very well, and also the one on Lake Kiganza, the
sixty second annual one the Stone Conservation Club holes each
year that went off really well.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
Also, okay, hey, before we get out, you know, Wally,
we haven't had any nineteen forties law. I thought we
might throw some humor in here before we get out
of here. So out in this These are all nineteen
forty laws incorporated by states. In Pennsylvania, Wally, all fire
hydrants must be checked one hour before all fires. Now
(28:20):
listen close. You may not catch a fish by any
body part except the mouth. That was another law. Okay,
jumping over to Rhode Island and Providence. Rhode Island, it
is illegal to sell toothpaste and a toothbrush to the
same customer on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Huh.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
And then South Carolina, every adult male must bring a
rifle to church on Sunday in order to ward off
Indian attacks. Wow, and there's there's if you ever want
to look these up, there's a ton of them in
each state. Pretty funny, Wally's that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Yeah, well, we used to bring guns to school years
ago and it was not even frowned on. You know,
you had them in your case. That was tight up.
And I heard it in the old days they bring
him even for show and tell. The Aio times have
sure changed all one squirrel.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
