is on the air.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
People have asked why Wisconsin what a save, and I said,
because it is Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Starve s hard. Six straight wins against nationally ranked opponent.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Yes, we want to hang banners in this building on
here Madison.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
On Wisconsin.

Now.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Here's the voice of Badger Hockey, Brian Posik.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
About twelve minutes away from the openings face off.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Here, we've had an extended.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Pregame show at the frozen confines of Brigley Field after
the top rank Wisconsin women played second ranked Ohio State
into overtime and then a shootout, the Buckeyes prevailing in
the shootout, taking the extra point in the WHA standings.
Wisconsin women. The record for Mark Johnson's club now twenty
(01:24):
one and one. That's still not too shabby. Ian Well, you.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Know if I would have known that we were going
to be late and it was cold like this, I
would have gone over and talked to Mark and say,
either win it or lose it in regulation so that
I can get out of these frozen confines. It was
a good game. It was a great game, actually, and
the fact that the Badger women took a penalty with
about a minute eighteen seconds left in the three on
(01:52):
three overtime play and we're able to kill that off
and make it to I think at the fifth or
sixth shooter in the shootout before they But that's a
good way to publicize the competitive nature of the game
between Ohio State and Wisconsin, in particular in women's hockey.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
One thing I noticed during that shootout, and it was
hard not to both the Badgers and the Buckeyes, but
more so the Badger women just could not handle the puck.
The puck is going to bounce a lot tonight because
the ice surface. Again, it's this is the fifth game
in five days. They've done a nice job to get
this surface ready to be played, and maybe the first
(02:30):
four or five minutes it'll be good ice, but then
it gets chippy and there are little holes it'll crop up,
it will not be the greatest ice surface to play on,
So connecting the dots tonight tape to tape passes might
be a challenge for both clubs.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, A good point made in a couple other broadcasts
that I was listening to is that those twenty five
foot saucer passes. Don't even think about them. How about
a ten footer on the ice right on the guy's stick. Now,
that seems to be common sense, I guess in this situation.
But as I mentioned, you know, during the women's game,
(03:05):
when I was looking at it, they came out and
they did patch a lot of chipped ice or holes
or whatever you want to call it. Right, with bigger,
stronger men playing more heavy on their skates, I would
venture to say that those chips and grooves that are
being cut up maybe more significant in this game. And again,
(03:27):
is that going to play a factor?
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Who knows Bucky Badger has just come out onto the
ice surface and the Michigan State fans respond with hardy booze, And.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
I'm surprised that how many Michigan State people here reacted
to it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Right, we don't see sparty, which I think.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Is all right. Maybe that's the reason that they are
disenchanted is that there is no Sparti here.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Well, you know, from Madison it's about a two to
two and a half hour drive to get to field.
For fans of Michigan State, it's about a three and
a half hour drive from East Lansing to Chicago. Why
not make the trek and come down and see experience
something that you may never get a chance to do again.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Well, the other party at a ballpark, it's actually two
hours to Irving Parkway and then it's a half hour
to go four miles right on Irving Parkway. That's my
description of my trip down here. It took me thirty
five minutes to get off of ninety and get to
the drink or get to the field.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
So again, Ian Parrin and I are positioned right along
the ice. In fact, as we look to our right,
besides seeing the strikingly handsome Rob Woodward from the Michigan
State Radio broadcast, the penalty boxes are to our right,
as well as the official scorers table. Ian and I
are positioned across from Michigan State's bench at about the
(05:01):
blue line. We are, I mean, the ice is right
in front of us, so we can pound on the
glass as you can hear, and so we will have
an up close and personal look at the hockey game
here tonight between Wisconsin and Michigan State. The referees are
out skating around getting warmed up. Sean Fernandez and Jonathan Starski,
(05:22):
Nick Huff and Jonathan Slatk are the linesmen here tonight.
This crew also worked the game in East Lansing on
Thursday night, where the Spartans prevailed four to three Wisconsin.
I tell you, I you look at the Badgers record.
They had a chance to get to five hundred for
the first time since the opening weekend, but let that
two goal lead slip away. Wisconsin has now lost eight
(05:45):
games by one goal this season. In overtime, they're two
five and one. They've been in virtually every single game
this season. And I know Mike Hasting's lamenting the fact
they haven't been able to consistently produce and win games
those tight games as regularly as he'd like.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Well, I think the common terminology for that is we've
gotten the lead, but we haven't been able to put
teams away. Sure, when you're when that's the the coach's terminology,
It just seems to be one of the overriding factors
this year, especially after the one two, three, three two games,
(06:25):
especially those ones in overtime. I have a quick question
for you. Do all linesmen have to be like six
foot six or above? He is one large man, Yes
he is.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
The Michigan State Spartans are taking the field. They're being
let out of the dugout by their starting goaltender, Luca Depascuo.
And then here come the Wisconsin Badgers as Tommy Scarfoni
leads the cardinal and white out of the first base dugout.
Wisconsin wearing some nifty uniforms here tonight, specialized uniforms put
(06:59):
together by Nate Lapointe and the players themselves red sweaters
with script badgers across the chest, much like Wisconsin's old
baseball uniforms used to look like, with white and black
and red striping right around the elbows and then at
the waistband and on the players socks as well, white
(07:19):
numerals highlighted in black white lettering on the back for
their names a Wisconsin a block W with Bucky on
one shoulder. The Frozen Confines logo is over the right
chest of the Badgers cool, sharp looking uniforms that the
Wisconsin Badgers are wearing tonight, while Michigan State going with
(07:43):
its classic white uniforms with the normal Michigan State and
scripted right around the chest.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
And Sparty has made it. He did make an appearance.
I was waiting. I just noticed that the probably three
quarters of the Spartan team came out wearing the skateguards. Yeah,
the little skateguards over and Sparti had him on too.
It was been my greatest thrill if he would have
forgotten to take them. I've seen it halfen in college
(08:11):
games before, but that would have been just great if
he would have took a header when he came out
on the ice because he had his skateguards on.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
UW Health Sports Medicine Injury Update brought to you by
UW Health Sports Medicine Treating the Badgers, treating you. Wisconsin's
at full strength. Other than not having freshman defenseman Logan
Henzler's playing for the United States of the World Junior
Championship Michigan State, Trey Augustine, their starting goaltender and one
of their top defenseman, Maxim Stirback, who was playing for
(08:41):
his native Slovenia, also their minus. Gavin O'Connell, is sophomore
forward who has a freshman a year ago, had fifteen
goals and twenty six points.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Quinn Finley's going, I got that already this year fifteen
goals for sure.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
The Wisconsin Badgers being introduced our Quick Trip lineups brought
to you by Quick Trip obviously, and starting a goal
for Wisconsin. Tommy Scarfoni, the senior from Montreal an eight
seven to one record of two sixteen goals against average
a nine to seventeen say percentage in three shutouts. Starting
defensive pairs senior Daniel Lotch from Altona and Anthony Kerr,
(09:19):
the fifth year defenseman from Winnipeg, playing in his one
hundred and fifty first collegiate game, and the starting forward
line for Mike Hastings squad. The centerman Gavin Morrissey, freshman
from Rochester Hills, Michigan, leads all freshmen in the country
with points in twenty three's got six goals seventeen assists.
Ryland Moseley, the right winger, fifth year from on Prior, Ontario,
(09:39):
ten goals and twenty points. He's one point shy of
one hundred for his career, and the left wing Quinn Finley,
the sophomore from Swamaco a nation's best fifteen goals, his
twenty seven points share of the national lead as well.
Michigan State will go with Luca de Pasco in goal,
their starting defenseman Patrick Geary and Matt Basgal the starting
(09:59):
f forward line left to right, Toby Manisto from Finland,
Tyran and Shouty from Marysville, Michigan, and Tanner Kelly from
San Diego. Now our national anthem from Brickley Field, h.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
H was so proudly.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
How why.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
As come back.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
My wa.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Pontaly w.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
To or so cat.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Me and the ride.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Is rad.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
In the.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Cup?
Speaker 3 (11:38):
No black?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
What was.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Tag tause t chang day? Where?
Speaker 4 (12:13):
And wow, a wonderful rendition of the national anthem As
fireworks are being shut off off the scoreboards, the jumbo
(12:37):
trons out in left center field and the right field
line were about set to go, and you could see
just we're standing right along the blue line where the
Michigan State spartans were standing and watching the national anthem,
and the boys are turning around look at each other
like wow, can you believe that? And the Badgers had
the same reaction across the way. This is a spec
(13:00):
to say the least. College hockey being played at Wrigley Field,
the home of the Chicago Cubs. Oh and Lynn Mark
and Read Savage the captain's meeting at center eyes for
a ceremonial puck drop, and then we're set for Wisconsin
and Michigan State. Here tonight, Well, it ought to be
(13:21):
a barnburner. I wish they would start the place on
fire so we could get warm. That on to be
one of the issues that we have to deal with.
But no, it's a spectacle.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
And I agree. I listened to some of the coaches
on their interviews and last night, and I agree wholeheartedly.
It's for a lot of kids, it's like a step
back in the past, right, reliving their youth that kind
of stuff. For us old people, it's like, oh, man,
I remember I used to have to go down to
(13:53):
the rink and get you guys. I was freezing just
watching you when I had the opportunity. But allowed to
be a good game, and it couldn't be against the
better team, I mean Wisconsin against Michigan State. The games
have been so close in previous action and the fact
that it's kind of a neutral site. I guess you
(14:14):
would call it two and a half versus three and
a half hours away. And I was very impressed with
how many Michigan State fans showed up for this game,
despite the fact that it's in a different state and
quite a distance away. There are a lot of people
in this building today.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
There certainly are great to see just a ballpark figure,
if you will, I'd say fifteen sixteen, seventeen thousand. Quite
a few fans up in the bleachers well as.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Well, That's what I was about to say. If you
add in the spattering of twelve to fifteen hundred that
are in the bleachers, you're looking at pretty much wall
to wall people.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Could be back, could be twenty thousand here watching Wisconsin
Michigan State. The opening face off brought to you by
Odyssey Greek Yogurt. Start your day with thick, creamy and
all natural Greek yogurt with real flavorful fruit, honesty Greek Yogurt,
and Anthony Cara starts the game off with a huge
check right in front of the Michigan State bench. Then
he pinches down the wall, but Manisto takes the puck
(15:18):
away flings an errand pass out through center ice and
the Badger's retreat to their zone to our right. Wisconsin
skating left to right, Beggar Pardon right to left. In
the opening period Here at Wrigley Field, Quinn Finley chasing
down the defenseman Matt Baskal, but Michigan State able to
exit its own zone. Then Easti puts a backhand between
the legs. Pass out at neutral ice. The Badgers canceled
(15:40):
out the Spartans there Who's puck again at neutral ice
and gobbling it up as Christian Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, the junior
from Coke Quitlam team with Cody Leskowski and Kyle Kuchanan.
Here tonight, the Badgers accidentally ice the puck face off
down to our right, where Tommy Scarfoni takes a drink
from his water bottle, and he's wearing a nifty large
(16:01):
knitted stocking camp done by Calli LaPoint, the equipment manager's wife.
Calli stitch that thing together. It is a huge knit
cap on the dome of Tommy Scarfoni. In Canada, we'd
call it a duke sure Fitzgerald to take the draw
against Charlie Strammel and the puck out of the blue line.
Michigan State will hold. Dylanngucciardi, the defenseman, had his shot
(16:24):
blocked by Wisconsin's Kuchenen. Michigan State he's one down deep.
Isaac Howard trying to get it below the goal line.
It goes off a stick and carry's up over the
glass and out of play. A minute two into the
opening period, the frozen confines of Wrigley Field, Wisconsin and
Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
No score. You would have to shoot it pretty hard
and pretty high to have it deflected into the stands
because there is a significant amount of bear space behind
each goal.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
You're saying, there's a lot of foul territory around this
hockey rink. Off the draw, Wisconsin blocks a shot. Ryan
bonnrel nice job blocking a shot of the defenseman Vladislaw
of Lukashevich. The Michigan State picks up the puck and
skates into the offensive zone. Pucked loose, now taken away
by Wisconsin Zach Schulz. Simon Tassey chips it ahead, not
(17:11):
far enough for icing, hoping Ryan Botterol can get to
the puck. Bottrell with Tassy and then Owen Linn Mark
the sixth year from nearby Naperville, a lifelong Cubs fan
skating for the Wisconsin Badgers. Linn Mark steals the pucket
Karen's to the corner. Tassy tried to dig it free,
taken away by Carson Dorwart second line centerment doorward from Sherwood, Oregon,
(17:33):
played it into the Wisconsin zone. The Badgers taken from there,
Jack Falen and Hinsdale, Illinois native up at center ice,
Jack Horback and Napervillain NATed got cut off by Basco
La Lake Forest, Illinois Products and now Wisconsin's Tyson Dick
Steeles hadn't gained the red line, didn't realize where he
was positioned on the ice, just a step beyond the
(17:55):
red line, and Dick accidentally iceed did a minute fifty
nine into the opening period face off down in the
Wisconsin zone to our right.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
We're only sitting about ten feet away, but I was
kind of thought that Shov may have touched that puck
as it went by him. But second time I've made
that mistake.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Badgers have Tyson, Dick, Sawyer Shoal and Jack Horback the
fourth line on the ice right now and Michigan State
shoots one that gets blocked off the stick of Dick
and bounced in front of the Badger gold Mouth and
Scarfoni at the paddle it to the corner Michigan State
along the near side wall. They've got their fourth line out,
centered by Mikey DiAngelo from Itasca, Illinois, a former Green
(18:38):
Bay gambler. Michigan State back in its own zone here
they come up the far wing. Van Sagi, big right
handed power forward, carries the puck deep into the Wisconsin zone,
cut off by Anthony care getting some support now from
Daniel Lotch who falls over the pile up and it's
taken by Michigan State's Shouty, who spins it to the
near corner. Badgers get to the puck first, try to
(19:00):
chip it up off the boards and out no luck
there in Michigan State able to hold his own and
play it deep again. Launch again. We'll try to rim
it around and did too strongly. That'll be icing on Wisconsin.
Third of the opening period. We're two fifty two in
no score.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Third defensive zone face off for Icing. Badger's making no
bones about the fact that if they're gonna get himmed
in their own zone like they were for that last
fifteen to twenty seconds. Get it out, even if we
have to take the icing.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Turn in shouting fifty four percent in the face off circle.
This season, we'll take the draw against Wisconsin Sawyer Schol,
who's at about break even in the face off circles.
Schol will step back in after twirling around a little bit.
He won the puck to the corner. The Badger's care
goes to get it, can't get it past the body
of Tanner Kelly. It's loose in the Wisconsin zone. Shoal
(19:51):
ducked underneath a Spartan and spun it around to the
near side wall. Badger's able to jam it out to center.
Bounces around a bit Tyson Dick slow by the defense
of Michigan State and put ross side. Yeah, Nicholas, Andrew's
gotten his way, and then Dick put himself offside in
the face off. Coming up at neutral ice worth three
minutes and nine seconds into the first period, you can
(20:13):
hear the fans here at Wrigley chanting, let's go Badgers.
Top line out for Michigan State Strammell with Howard and Russell.
The Badgers counter with their top forward line of Finley,
Morrissey and Moseley, and Morrissey won the face off so
strongly it karened all the way back to the Wisconsin zone.
It's loose at neutral ice and picked up by Russell.
(20:33):
Left hander fires one right into the chest of the
kneeling Gold Center's Scarfoni. He made the stop and hangs
on for a face off sixteen thirty seven to go
in the first no score.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
You know, previously we made the comment that the ice
will get more snowy as the game goes on, as
we talk about it. We're only three minutes and a
half minutes into the game and you can already see
that the snow is starting to build up. In neutral zone.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Gennyan and I are positioned right along the ice, right
next to the glass. We've got quite a view. Face
off shot that goes wide. Lukashevitch, the big left handed
defenseman Florida Panthers draft choice, pinches in and played it
deep at the Badgers take the puck. They can't exit
their zone, though Spartans hold it in and fire it
around right corner to left. Joe Plata Chuck gives Chase
(21:20):
unable to clear. Stramill had it on his stick, lost it,
dug it out far side. Lukashevitch tried to cycle back
to Strammel half boards left.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
He's got it.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
The big right hander spins away from Pulada, Chuck hands
off to Russell, walks low left, shoots one stop made
by Scarfon. He gave up no rebound. A little pushing
and shoving afterwards. Cooler heads will prevail their stram Will
got knocked off balance back behind the Badger's net. Daniel
Russell the right winger from Traverse City, Michigan. Russell with
eight goals and thirteen points. He had an assist in
(21:50):
five shots on goal and the win over Wisconsin Thursday
and East Lansing I.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Think four minutes in. The tone was set on the
initial shift. Phinny's cares big hit proved that it's gonna
be the way this way for the rest of the game.
There's gonna be lots of contact and there's gonna be
lots of uh scrums.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Let's put it that way. Wisconsin won the face off.
Here comes Quinn Finley up the middle of the ice,
right wing, pass to Morrissey, backhands it deep Badgers. Finally,
after the puck and the offensive zone and a tough
angled shot nearside by. Finley missed the net, rolls out
to the point. Falan deeps deep again. Finley fifteen goals
to leave the country. Trying to dig it out far corner.
(22:29):
Falan pinched in, puck came free. Here comes Michigan State's
Bascal with a stretch pass, trying to beat Joey Larson.
No lock there the puck Karen back off the stick
of Morrissey on goal. Scarfoni got his right pad down
and then Bascal out high right with a t shot.
His blast stop by Scarfhony. He hangs on for a
face off. Four and a half minutes into the first
three shots on goal for Michigan State. Nothing so far
(22:52):
for Wisconsin, we are scoreless.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Interesting when Bascal took that shot, you'll notice that the
Badgers did a great job of just trying to clear
people out of the way. Scarfoni saw that shot all
the way and it was a bullet.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Griffin Jireki, Mikey DiAngelo, and Shane Van Sagi fourth line
out for Michigan State. Badger's counter with Leskowski, Fitzgerald and
kuchenin waiting for the linesman. Nick Huff to drop the puck.
Actually that's Jonathan Slatick, all six foot twelve of them. Yes,
And the Badgers win the face off and they'll exit
(23:29):
their zone, cooking in with a scoop pass intended for Loscossai.
You didn't get much on it. Michigan State's Geary intercepted
and dumped it in. Dani'll Lotch quickly after it gets
there first for Wisconsin took a stick once or twice
up near the midsection, but no penalty called on Van Sagi.
Lotch still trying to win it free and it comes
out towards center ice, but Michigan States Andrews dumps it
(23:49):
right back down in.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Spartans have controlled the first five minutes here, they have,
and they've controlled it at the offensive blue line for them. Also,
Badger's having a tough time just even punching the puck
over the boards, up the boards to try and get
out of the defensive zone.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
On the attack, di'angelo he'll dump it in below the
Badger's goal line. It spins all the way out to
the left point and gucci Alardy feathers it back deep again.
Nisto over skates Lotch took the puck away Badger's patient
with it and banking ahead too far for Tyson Dick.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Will it call? I said, no take down on the
ford check.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Gucci already got there first for Michigan State outlet to
andrews up to center ice. Good stick by Pulata Chuck
popped it over towards the body of Shouty, who played
it left wing near the Badger bench across the way.
It's loose near the blue line. Badgers can't pull it free,
and it's back deep into the Wisconsin zone. Scarfoni drops
it back for Pulata Chuck, who turns to his left
(24:40):
and caught the puck up in front. Tyson Dick, diving
to clear it out of harm's way, got the job done.
Here's Tanner Kelly though left wing, his snapshot stopped by
Scarfoni on his knees and he hangs on. Oh, Pulata
Chuck ran into trouble there behind the net.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah he did, and it popped off a Michigan State
player and came out in front of the net and
Scarfoni makes the initial save. After that's all said and done,
and rightfully so. On his secondary save freeze the puck.
Let's start new. Get everybody back on the same page.
Badgers have yet to get a shot on goal. No score.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Here about six minutes into the opening period from the
frozen confines and.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
It's cold out high ohen West.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
The defenseman shoots one that goes off a body and
bounced wide to the left of Scarfhony. Badgers got it
to center, but lind Mark can't run it down. Stramle
on the attack left wing. Here's a quick shot by
Howard that was partially blocked by the Badgers. Lind Mark
now will skate it out to center, cut off by
Orbits the defenseman, loose puck gabbled up by Ryan botdrel
Botterill will skate it through center eyes and get it deep,
(25:43):
and now the Badgers will change up to the near side.
Here's Russell met at the blue line by Wisconsin's Quinn
Finley and the puck free now for Wisconsin's Anthony Kerr
with a head of scheme right by the benches up
to the red line. Carries it across at the blue line,
fumbled it in his skates and the Badgers put one
towards the front of the net, and there is the
pass well, the goaltender finally touching the puck, he covers
(26:05):
up the right handed catching goaltender and a face off
coming up in the Spartan zone. With thirteen twenty one
to go in the opening period Wisconsin and Michigan State.
We have no score here tonight. Let's take a one
minute break. This is badger hockey from Blairfield.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
All right, Mark and Saratosha.
Speaker 6 (26:24):

the drive sober app today. No score first period here
from the Friendly Confines thirteen twenty one. To play Michigan State.
Four shots on goal. Wisconsin hasn't been able to generate anything.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
No territorially, it's been all Michigan State, especially at the
blue line where they're keeping the fuck in. The Badgers
have not been able to make any clean asses and
walk out of the zone, or even to chip it
off the glass of the boards and get out without
turning it over and having to go back on their
heels again. Wisconsin will get an offensive zone, face off
(28:13):
and just see you know. Additional restrooms and concession stands
are available on the bleacher concord. Thank you very much.
I like to read the big scoreboard. It's in typed
It's big enough for me to read.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Borisy Moseley finlay out with care and launch face off
to the left of the goaltender to passco. But these
are two minute media timeouts three each periods. So we're
waiting for the Big ten network to resume its coverage
here at Wrigley. Now we're set to drop the buck.
(28:45):
Nik Kuff will do the honors. Orse about fifty six
percent of the face off circle this season, and it
bounces around the park corner, picks up by Mosley, snapshot
and glove by the passco and he hangs on. Moseley
found himself with a puck right in the right circle there, and.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Why not put it on net? Not as well? And
you don't know how cold the goaltender is, so he
could be giving him up. Yeah'll give you that. Glove's
frozen and it won't go in.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Who knows Mosly ten goals this season, He's got eight
in his last twelve games. Offensives own face off, Badgers
lose it, Michigan State with it. His Larsen, big right
handed forward, carries it into the zone, spins it around
to the far side, and Gavin Morrisey goes to get it,
revers his course to Daniel loadch outlet pass to Finley
(29:35):
one on one with basket wine Wright stops.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Now two Spartans on.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Him, finds the trailer, Mosely cuts it, shoots what oh,
he just missed me and gotten off to pass bo.
Here's a feat from a right wing that Morrissey tapped
on goal. The passo stood his ground then stopped that
one as well.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
That's exactly what then icing on Michigan State. Yes, and
that's exactly what the Badgers needed. A quick shift like
that where they get not one, not two, but three
golden are good opportunities, I should say, in order to
put it on net and in the hands of the
right people. Quinn, Finley, Moseley, Morrissey. Yeah, those are the
(30:11):
guys who are going to put the biscuits in the
basket for.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
You, Fitzgerald, Liskowski, Kukin and out right now for Wisconsin.
Christian digging in on the face off Kukon and trying
to get possession and he picks it up in the
slot and fires one and glove by the pascuo and
he hangs on. That was way better than that shot
he scored the goal end in Milwaukee.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Kyle Kuchanan, who's been on a nice little roll seven
goals last thirteen games for the Anaheim Ducks.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Draft choice defensive pairs that play it changes for the
Badgers too. We got Dexhammer and Polanachuck playing on a
regular shift together and two and twenty four back together.
That makes me happy. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
We saw Polana Chuck and dex Shiber most of last
season together. They like playing with one another, and they're
both finally healthy. Michigan State won the defensive's own face
off and carried it out through center. Is shot from
the right wing, easily bought off by Scarfhoning. Bader's trying
to dig it free Plata Chuck in deep puck back
behind the Badger net, wrap around attempt by Van Sagi,
(31:14):
stop by Scarfhoning.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
He's had to be sharp early on here.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
I a puck deflected past the Spartans point man and
all the way down, no icing Goolskoski on the port check.
But the gold center will go to the Defensemanducci Ardi
wild pass out to center. Van Sagi catches and comes
up the near wall for Russell, who's fresh off the bench.
Badger's taken away and now Jack horback with it estate
move left wing looking pass comes out to the point
(31:40):
and fail it go. Shot got through off the pad
of the pass Goo behind the net. Now Tyson Dick
stick handling and looking trying to set up Horbock on
the doorstep, didn't connect.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Failing again.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Long range shot off the pass Goo, loose puck still
Dick swings and missus taken away by Michigan State. Andrews
outlet pass Kelly up the middle of the ice from
minees do we gotten shoals but couldn't reach the pass,
but he still tracked it down below the Badger goal line.
Eleven eighteen to go on the first period, still no score.
The Badgers now with six shots on goal to Michigan
(32:11):
State's four. Balen tied up in the defensive zone by Tanner.
Kelly shouting wins it free and sends it around the
boards to the right half wall. Spartans hold his zone,
try to cycle to the corner door, work with it,
played it off to the near side, shouting out to
the point. Long range shot by Lukashavin Scott through Scarfoni
(32:31):
stopped it. Loose puck cleared out of Harm's way. The
Badgers will get a change. Ten forty five to go
in the opening period.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
No score.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Here's Daniel watch left wing pass at center to lynn Mark,
Lotch joins the rush linn Mark.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Hard in front. Watch to night by the passo good
look by lynn Mark. Blocks went right to the net
exactly and after you think that he gave the puck
up into neutrals, m to lind Mark that he would
just stop at the blue line and let his wingers
go through. Smart play, Daniel watch, if you got a
path to the net, go for it.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
Buck went out of play, face off to come inside
the Michigan state zone. No scar here at Grigley Field,
Lynn Mark with Tassi and Botrel loose right circle. Lind
Mark slow moving pass out to the point, take it
away by Stramble gets by care Straml saws pass in
front to the left handed Howard couldn't reach it. Now
a long range up by Bascal that went off traffic
(33:27):
painting to the near side corner. Badger's able to bank
it out the center and Borel chipped it ahead. Now
for Tassie, who just got crust fright in front of us.
We gotta get a penalty, No, we play on. Lynn
Mark now shoots one wide. Tassie's okay. He's back up
on his skates freeze the play steals behind, crap around,
backhand stuff by the pass bow and they kick it
out the center. Oh Tassy just got crushed right next
(33:50):
to where Ian and I are standing.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I saw the look on his face like, oh.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Wisconsin's got the fuck up at center, bouncing a little
bit on the has to retreat to the Badger blue Lyle.
Halfway through this period, no score. Both teams seven shots
on goal.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Michigan State with a steal, carrying it in tight, Spartans
with a chance.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Andrews no moves puck now Scarfony down and out, now
back up on his states trying to locate the puck.
It's still free and the Spartans track.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
It down holding the zone.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Andrews right wing shot and Larson that Karen threw this
low slot back to the left of Scarfony in the corner.
Larson throwing his big body around, bumping Thinley away from
the puck. One of the Badgers without a stick that
Deckheimer and now a steal mostly took the puck away
as Gucci already misplayed it out near the Wisconsin line,
and the Badgers will dump it down in nine.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Minutes to go in the first no score.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
Here's Michigan State on the attack, Red Savage the captain
cut off on the near side wall. Good defense by
Jack Falen. He's got possession of the puck and headman's
to Morrissey and looks left, goes right less Cowski off.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
The batch back hand now on the pass post stop
far back.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Miskoski came right wing, taped out.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
The goaltender got the backhander off and the pass bow
followed the play and dope back to stole the Badgers forward.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Yeah, he couldn't get any air underneath of it. There
was no way that he was going to get any
get it in the net with not getting any air
underneath of it because the gold excuse me, the goaltender
had stretched himself out to cover that low ice area
and actually played great pass and leskowsky shot actually hit
the near post and ricochet back into the goaltender.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
So the pass bow really didn't stop the shot by Leskowsky.
The post did, and then the pass bow on his
side just laid on top of the puck to get
the whistle.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
I like it the way replay makes the liar out
of me, right, and me too.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
I thought he had made a heck of a same
dive back, but he got some help from the post
eight forties Wisconsin and Michigan State and tonight's game from
Brigley Field, brought to you in part by Alliant Energy.
Visit a Lion Energy dot com to see how a
Lion Energy invests in diverse energy solutions for today and
the future.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I will say that as much of the delay as
it puts into the game, the coming out and the
scraping of the ice, you get into a situation where
it's done what three times in if you'reiod now instead
of the one at the regular ten minute, I think
it's for the better for the quality of the ice
and the quality of the play, especially in the defense zone. Sure,
(36:41):
just to hate to think that the fact that a
game may be decided or a goal made decided because
of some, for lack of a better word, crappy ice.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
I understand completely. Oh, Cody Liskowsky had a chance a
moment ago. Badger's up their play. Now they seem settled
down right. I don't know if they were nervous at first.
Michigan State came out, they were hitting, they were possessing
the pocket.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Then the Badgers turning around a little bit. Yeah, I
think there's a little more one on one contact number one,
number two. I think that they're anticipating where the play
is going to go, so they're on top of the
play faster than they were in the first five minutes
or six minutes.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
Wow, what a great crowd has turned out here tonight
at Wrigley Field. Boy, the lower bowl is virtually full
except down by the field ten to fifteen rows up.
Those seats are empty because of their lousy seats, you
can't really see the rink or the play itself. But boy,
(37:46):
beyond that, all the way around, I mean, there's twenty
thousand people here at least for this game here tonight
could be closer to thirty.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Explaining the difference. If you're at a baseball game, you
want to be down low so you're right at the
field for contact, and then you turn around. You come
to a hockey game, you want to be up high
so you can see all the action that are being
blocked out.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Padris lost the offensives own face off, and he still
carried into the Wisconsin's own He was knocked down by
Lotch steal by shouting too. Minees, though he was open
in front, couldn't handle the pass. Wisconsin's lotch now stick
candles away from two Spartans slobs the puck up at center.
Fitzgerald after it canceled out by Lukashevich tracked it down
(38:26):
in the corner, now getting support from Kuchenen and his left.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Winger Liskonsky below the goal line.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Orbits now played it far side, pinching in deck Sheimer,
the defenseman in on the attack.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Tied up behind the Michigan State net.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Cookanon takes a whack at it once or twice off
the side of the cage Padger's hole right point. Dick
shot blocked Carr him into midair, brought down by dick
snapshot off the stick and that goes up over.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
The glass and out of play.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Seven forty seven ago in the first period, no score
Wisconsin and top ranked Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Well, that was pleasing to you see Dickheimer get caught
down behind the net, and when the buck comes up
to his point, Hey, tyson, Dick is there. They're covering
up for each other very nicely. In the offensive zone.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Fourth line out Shoal, Dick and Horbach with Dexheimer and
Polada Chuck Strainer to take the draw from Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
He wins that face off.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
Howard got hooked from the side and the line's been
looked back at the referee for a penalty. Nothing called.
Michigan State exits its own zone, passive cross ice for
Stramel out of his reach. Sawyer's shoal picks it up
for Wisconsin and dumps it in and chases here.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
He there first from Michigan State. Perhaps it around the
near side.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Howard takes it from there, bump pass off the near wall,
intercepted by Wisconsin's Polada Chuck slides Street and Tyson Dick
stick handlink.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Through two Spartans and snapped off a shot.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
That went wide, and it carrond all the way out
to center Ize Pallada Chuck, pestered by Howard, fights through
it and got to pass off the shoals shoals Headman's
to horback up the middle. Now it's own Lin Mark,
Lin Mark. The Badgers captain skates into the attacking zone,
had it knocked off his stick from behind. Spartan's with
it and they'll bump it out the center. Chol's repeat
(40:08):
the Wisconsin zone. If he was a little bit more patient,
Wisconsin of maintained possession. Instead is Spartan's now with it
and another hit right in front of us as Andrews
and lind Mark connect right in the glass out Tassy
in on the poor chest Botterrell tried to knock the
defenseman down instead, Andrews fucked through the physicality. Lyn Mark holds,
turns and finds Tassi in the corner, pinned against the
(40:30):
wall by Andrews and stumbles down. Latch walks down the
wall near side, takes it to the corner back behind
the at the big palifis Tassie, his shot goes off.
Something rickocheted up off the high glass. Wisconsin's bottrel now
with it in the attacking zone. Steele, Tassie's got it,
and he tried to make a play and the Puffers
afflected out to center. Six p'h nine to go in
(40:53):
the first still no store. Lou's puck picked up by
a watch in a whistle. He had a hand passed
cold against the back Andrews and they'll drop the puck
back in the Wisconsin zone with six ozho four to
go in this scoreless first period, coming up during our
American Family Insurance first intermission, we'll report, we'll run down
other college hockey scores, and we'll hear from junior forward
(41:14):
Jack Harbach, the Naperville, Illinois native, excited to be playing
in his hometown Chicago.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Yeah, I'm pretty proud of that.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Morrissey with a face off against DiAngelo, Badgers win the draw.
Anthony Care angles a pass ahead to Finley, trying to
cut in on the defenseman. No Luck still carries the
puck into the corner. Now sandwich there, Moseley battling for it.
It's batted back to the corner, orbit head to center
and directe. He lets it bounce past him and out
to neutral ice. Planachuck, looking for options, played it off
(41:48):
the glass for Morrissey, tapped off the Moseley. Badgers again
in the attacking zone Moseley and on the fore check
puck came free. Finley had it, got chopped down to
the ice and then it goes waddling towards the Michigan
State net and the Pasco on his knees alects to
cover and get a face off. Five point thirty three
to go in the first period. Wisconsin and Michigan State.
(42:10):
We have no score back in one minute. This is
Badger Hockey from Airfield PW Health Sports Medicine, the healthcare
team for the Badgers and proud partner of UW Athletics.
Brian Posik and Ian Parrin at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Let's pause ten seconds for station identification tendems figl ID.
(42:30):
You're listening to his Coontson Badger Hockey along with our
producer Zach Hargrove, Ian Parrin on Brian Posick here at
Wrigley Field in Chicago. No score Wisconsin and top rank
Michigan State Badgers have an offensive zone face off coming
(42:53):
up to the left of their goaltender, Luca the passco boy.
The Passco's played well in play, so Trey Augustine and
maybe the best goaltender in college hockey.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Yeah, you're very well right. It's interesting for me when
you see a quote unquote backup get his chance. One
of two things is gonna happen. He's either gonna play
to the level he's expected to play at, or maybe
even better.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
He's played well here tonight shut out the Badgers on
eight fits so far. Offensive zone face off for Wisconsin
and Karen's all the way through neutral ice and the
Badgers have to go back to get it. Lead feed
Morrissey deflected back into the Michigan state zone, shouting out
there for the Spartans or as he cut off by Geary.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
After the lose puck, it rolls.
Speaker 4 (43:41):
Around to the far side, and now Ben Dexzheimer has
it for Wisconsin. Dex Sheimer lips it up off a
stick and out of play, right over the top of
the end parent and it rolls right down towards the
third base.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Dugout. Thankfully They've got eight foot class and I'm only
six feet tall, right, yep?
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Do you have a unique view standing right next to
the ring where basically in the same position as the
coaches across the way, except they don't have glass in
front of them.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
We do, and we're thankful for that. I can't tell
you what a different perspective this is. It's wonderful, isn't it.
I didn't believe how hard they hit, yeah, and how
big they are strain all with a steel lost the puck.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
Liskowsky's got it head man now to Kukanan had had
the puck taken right off the stick. By Gucci already
gave it right back. Fitzgerald's got it. Liskowsky with it
half forward's left down to the corner in Kuconon trying
to cycle with his line mate, came out to the point.
Now Fling back hands it deep. Fitzgerald reaches for it.
Spartan's got their first. Russell now has it for Michigan State.
(44:46):
Skates it up the center, hands it off to Howard,
darts around Fling and dumps it in. Gets chased, but
Latch nice work with his body to get positioned, can't
clear out high look a shape from one range.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
He scores. There a series of players wearing white and red.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
The defenseman Ladislav Lucas Savich with his first collegiate goal.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
The freshman from Russia gives Michigan State a one nothing lead. Well,
I can tell you this from our perspective, and this
is one of the advantages of being down here. The
only place that was open was Scarfhoni's glove top side
and make Norton bulls about it. That was the only
place that the Russian could shoot it, and.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
That's exactly where he put it fifteen thirty six at
the time of the goal. For Vladislav Lucas Savage the
Florida Panthers draft choice. It's won nothing. Michigan State Badricks
win the draw. Lots will pump it in around behind
in that shoal after it Sawyer's shoal back out to
the point, lodge off of skate, ricochet of the air
(45:54):
to the far boards. It goes taken by Red Savage,
cut off by the backchecking Horbaku Carey over the top
of the shelf into the badger bed out near the
blue line. Lots will dump it in shoal in on
the poor check. He's got the buck right wing shot
by Hornbock. He missed the net. He was open right circle.
Now Pulata Chuck banks it off the end boards, tried
to get it right in front of the cage. It
(46:16):
went off the side of the cage and ricochet to
the corner where Dick was tackled. Now Lindmark cut off
with a good strong checked by Lukashavig tassy in on
the foe jacket, bounces right in front of the Michigan
State nets, and that's where Lucas Savage picks it up
and flips it out to center. Kreen a half minutes
left in the first Michigan State leads Wisconsin one nothing.
(46:38):
Here's Tassy now gets a hit, jumps it into the corner.
The goaltender rims it around out no icing bott rolled
back to get it for the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
Won nothing.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
Smartness on Lucas Savage's first collegiate goal. Patrick Geary back
to get it now for Michigan State in its own zone.
Bascal near side, cut off by Wisconsin' Tassy, but out
the center. Here comes Michigan State on the rush and
Scarfoni stop the hard charging Van Sagi oh Shane Van
(47:08):
Sagi six two two fifteen. The freshman is huge and
he can fly, and.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
He just pretty much undressed Jack Falin because it was
a one on one battle became he and Jack Falen,
and he's when by him lifted his stick, ends up
not failing, not having any type of an angle or
an advantage, just looking at the back side of him
the whole time. Scarfroone, I don't think he got good
wood on that play. But the fact of the matter
(47:36):
being is that it's not even close. When Scarfhoni is.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
Right in the middle basaw to the right of the
Badger's netminers three to zero two to go in the
opening period, won nothing. Michigan states Bissy taking the face
off against Mikey DiAngelo, the former Green Bay Gambler who
had fifty two points and fifty eight games a year
ago as the Gambler's captain. Usahl Andrew's got the puff
(48:04):
to center. Then it's dumped in by Michigan State. Spartans
go d to d Gary bounces one through traffic, but
got blocked before it got to the Badger net. Pulled
away by DiAngelo, set back to the right corner. Now
the Spartan's riven around farside. Badgers in pursuits. Dan, you'll
latch a little time in space, snaps off the pass
(48:24):
that Mosley can't catch, intercept it, and Geary dumps it
back in.
Speaker 3 (48:30):
Badgers having a hard time getting it out. Finally they do.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
Morrissey left wing pass for Finley, cut off by Bascal.
He sent it back Wisconsin's way, icing waved off to
eighteen to go in the first one.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Nothing.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
Michigan states, Watch standing behind his net. Now he'll head
to the Badger bench. Joe Polata Chuck stands and waits.
Dex Sheimer out there as his deep partner Finley, Fitzgerald
and Kuchin and the forwards. Michigan State fans didn't like
the delay by the Badgers, and now Fitzgerald weak backhand
(49:04):
pass up through center, intercepted by Kelly, comes to cross
the line, fires a shot that's blockered away by Scarfhony
Liskowsky deep in the defensive cell and the Badger goes down.
Pull outa chuck, no penalty. Wisconson can't exit the zone.
Dexheimer now stick candles and looks up to Leskowski, who
lifts it out to center, bounces a bit, Andrews checks
(49:25):
it down, send it to the red line and shouting
sent back Wisconsin's way. Dexheimer whax it back to neutral
ice sent back into the Badger's zone. It's twenty to go, yeah,
minute twenty to go here. In the first one nothing,
Michigan State Plana Chuck playing keep away from the Spartans,
lift the puck out near the blue line, but not
out hell and long range shots stop by Scarfhony and
(49:47):
he covers with one eleven ago. In the opening period
one nothing Spartans Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
Last minute and fifteen seconds, two line changes for the Badgers.
One line change for the Spartans, but every time at
the buck got near the blue line the Badger Excuse me,
the Spartan defenseman are stepping in intercepting passes and not
getting great shots on net, but at least it's a
shot on net.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Spartan sent out their top line, Howard's Trammel and Russell
Owen Lindmark, the best face off man in the country
in sixty six percent, to take the draw on the
defensive zone and it's won.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
By Michigan State. Shot blocked.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
Follow up Champs Back got through Scarfhoni got a piece
of that, and then it's back to the far corner.
It's Tramel with a pass that's too hot to handle
for Lucas savag and all the way down to the
Michigan State zone it goes.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
You don't see the limpart.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
Get to be clean on face offs and the defensive
zone and Stray will beat him that time. Here's Horback
now stick handling looking right wing pass for Tyson dick Off,
his stick taken away by Michigan States. Russell skates to
center eyes cross the line. Snapshots blocked by the Badgers.
Both shoals and deck Szheimer in the vicinity, and now
(50:58):
the puck to flex at Scarfoni loves it and hangs on.
And then Howard was sniffing around. Shul took him down.
Strambles engaged with one of the Badgers, and then the
line'smen need to step in. Now Horbach with a little
whack on Bascal and some words for Strammel. Sholl chirping
a little bit too. This is the fourth meeting of
(51:19):
the season between Wisconsin and Michigan State. The Spartans with
a regulation win and an overtime win. The Badgers have
a regulation win. Spartans have won six a Begger pardon
five of the nine points so far.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
The Badgers have four.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
The winner of this game wins the season series. Hi
breaker long range shot got through Scarfhoni stopped it. It
ricocheted to was right still looking for it. It got
chopped at it came to the near corner. Scarfhoni back
up on his states. Michigan State pressing Wisconsin here in
the final minute. Now Mosley just got hooked as he
tried to release a pass. Heny caught up on Michigan State.
(51:57):
Badgers will get the cutest power play. Eleven point six
seconds to go here in the opening period, a penalty
on the Spartans. The Badgers will go on the man advantage.
Speaker 3 (52:07):
As he was about to make that pass, he got hooked,
and ironically it was a safe game saving hook if
you want to call it that, or play saving for
Michigan State because Morris he would have been off to
the races, right down the far side or right down
the near side by us. There was all of a
sudden there was a pass made, and he tried to
(52:27):
make that pass. He would have been wide open put
into the penalty box. We'll go number two for the
Spartan two minutes for hooking. Time of the penalty. With
eleven point six seconds.
Speaker 4 (52:38):
Left here in the first period, Yep, Geary takes the
penalty of the Buffalo Sabers Draft choice Tuna's power play
wisconsint twenty four percent this season eighteen to seventy five.
They win the face off deck Seimer quarterbacking left wing
Morrissey down all Wright set up in front Boseley stop
by the sliding the pass well, Oh, a beautiful setup.
(53:00):
It started with dex Sheimer and then worked down the
left wing.
Speaker 3 (53:02):
Wall as soon as Dexheimer gets the pucket starts to
walk to the middle. That shifts the whole Blox over.
But this guy over here, Morrisy, he doesn't even move.
He's now he's going to return pass.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
Viskowsky's setting up Moseley in the slot. Moseley stopped. Badgers
win the face off. Four seconds dex shimber rightly. Binley
Oh his hammer shot missed an hand. The horn sounds,
ending the opening period. Entertaining first period, Michigan State had
early control Ian and the Badgers found their game a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
Yeah, they did. And I think this power play could
be the shifter because we've had in eleven point six seconds,
we had two golden opportunities to score and if that
carries over into the second period, momentum will be on
our side.
Speaker 4 (53:47):
Michigan State scores to the lone goal of the opening period.
It came at fifteen thirty six, so after one period
from the frozen confines of Wrigley Field. Top rank, Michigan
State leads Wisconsin by the score of one to nothing.

(54:34):
The temperatures supposed to dip down to about ten degrees
here overnight. It's almost nine to thirty Central time. The
wind's blowing pretty well. The flag for the American flag
at half staff for the recent death of former President
Jimmy Carter at the age of one hundred.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
But you can see the wind blowing here at Wrigley Field.
Speaker 4 (54:55):
Not too too bad where we're standing here, Ian, but
we're so close to the ice and and it's so
cold that, yeah, I don't feel my toes on my
left foot right now.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
I don't feel him on either foot, but I don't
feel them in normal times either. But the fact of
the matter being is it's a unique situation. As we
mentioned this is I've never called a game from ringside
ever in my life, and I've gotten into a situation
now where I have much more of a sincere appreciation
for how hard people check and how fast they have
(55:27):
to skate. When you're fifty rolls up, you're kind of
looking at it thinking, Okay, this is easy, this is
non But when I saw Simon Tassi get hit from
behind and then drip down the glass right in front
of me, I went, yeah, it's still a physical contact game.
I'm pretty sure that it's a contact sport. Holy man,
there's been some good hits.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
There have been shots on goal in the opening period
seventeen to nine in favor of Michigan State. Tommy Scarfoni
stopped sixteen of those seventeen shots, while Luca Depascuo stopped
every Badger bid so far. Score phony. He was tested
quite often and he had to be sharp.
Speaker 3 (56:08):
Yeah, he was, And I guess I get into a
situation where maybe all that work isn't all that bad.
You know, a goaltender that the goaltender for Michigan State
did not see a shot until like the four and
a half or five minute mark of the first period,
you wonder why he's not down there doing calisthetics in
(56:30):
order to stay loose and stay whatever. But he's been good.
He's been very, very good. The Badgers haven't had as
many quality opportunities as Michigan State has, but they've done
well here in the last seven to eight minutes of
keeping the puck into the zone and even if they
don't get a shot on net, they're putting it in
an area where somebody can scramble for a rebound or
(56:51):
scramble for a loose puck.
Speaker 4 (56:53):
A low goal in that first period scored by freshman
defenseman Vladislav Lucas Savic. It's his first collegiate goal and
it was unassisted. Shot it from the right point. There
were bodies in front of Scarfoni and had found the
back of the net.
Speaker 3 (57:06):
Lots of bodies in front of the net, yes, right,
and again this is the unique perspective, but we were
pretty much at a perfect angle right behind him, and
the only opening that I could see was Carfoni's glove
side top shelf, and that's exactly where the young Russian
put it.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
Yes, seventeen shots on goal from Michigan State in that
opening period, and they had six players, make that seven
players with two shots on goal each, including Lukas Savich.
The Badgers only had nine shots on goal in the
opening period. Of player Ryland Moseley had three, including a
point plank Champs on the power play late in the
(57:46):
first period. Boy, they find that triangle where they have
Lesowsky on the goal line usually starts with Morrissey on
the left wing, and then Moseley finds that open space
in the bumper position.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Does a really nice job. That's the best attribute to
having him at the forward position. For some reason, he
just cames to get lost in the shuffle of people
and then he turns right around and the next thing
you know, he's wide open. And I think that his
teammates have realized that if he's not open now, he
will be in a couple seconds.
Speaker 4 (58:18):
Whin Finley, the nation's leading goal scorer, didn't have a
shot on goal.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
Well, he had one that was blocked. It was just
a blast from the off from his off side, and
I think if it had gotten through it probably would
have hurt somebody severely. But it got blocked by somebody
out in front. I can't remember who it was, but
that's the only really good scoring opportunity he's had.
Speaker 4 (58:39):
Yep, the Badgers lost fifteen of twenty six face offs.
Gavin Morrisy went six of eleven. Zeren Lindmark lost four
of the five draws that he took. Charlie Stramles six
for ten in the face off circle. Twenty seven attempted
shots for Michigan State five were blocked, five off target,
seventeen on goal. Meanwhile, the Badgers attempted seventeen shots. They
(59:02):
had one block, missed the net six times, and nine
shots on goal. A couple quality looks late. We'll see
what Wisconsin can do when the second period begins. The
Badgers will be out of power play for one forty
nine to start this second period of play. Michigan State leads.
Wisconsin won nothing here at Wrigley Field back in ninety seconds.
This is Badger hockey from their field. Eighteen minute intermissions
(59:25):
Here at the Friendly combines Wisconsin trails Michigan State one nothing.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
This is the American Family.
Speaker 4 (59:31):
Insurance first intermission report. It's kind of fun looking out
at left field. There's a mini ice rink and some
young kids are playing a little shinny hockey over there
with Bucky Badger and Sparty.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Kind of fun. Previous to that, I think what happened
was that they had these huge beach balls, and the
deal was you had to get it to the other
side without anybody intercepting the beach ball or whatever. I
could play that sport. That would be right up my
right there. But you know it is neat that they
put this auxiliary rink off to the side. Kids get
(01:00:06):
a chance to experience an outdoor game, Kids get exchange
to experience Wrigley Field.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
It's slick, it's pretty cool, pretty cool. Badgers have three
Chicago area natives on their roster, defenseman Jack Falin, team
captain Owen Lynn Mark, as well as junior forward Jack Horbach.
Had a chance to speak with Jack after practice. Yes,
I know what's going through your mind right now. You've
been to Wrigley so many times as a young boy.
Speaker 11 (01:00:30):
Yeah, just a lot of emotions. Come back home and play,
being able to play in front of friends and family,
I'm really excited, and I know a bunch of guys
on the team are too, So we're just ready to
get that going and have a blast out there.
Speaker 8 (01:00:41):
Do you remember your first memory of Wrigley Field.
Speaker 11 (01:00:43):
I wasn't a big Cubs fan growing up, so that
was more on the Sox side, But I remember just
rooting against my aunt and uncle because they're huge Cubs fans,
so me and my Dad would always go against my
aunt and uncle rooting for Socks and Cubs, so there's
always a blast doing that growing up. So it's just
exciting to be able to be back home and play
in front of.
Speaker 8 (01:01:00):
How many friends and family are gonna be here.
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:01:03):
I wasn't in charge of that. I tried to stay
out of that just to get away from the distractions.
But I'm sure a lot of coming and I'm excited
to see all of them after the game.
Speaker 8 (01:01:12):
You think about it, too, Wrigley Field is iconic.
Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
It's I mean, Kmiski Park was torn down a long
time ago where the Socks used to play. This is
one of the most iconic buildings in all the country,
and you're playing hockey in the baseball stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:01:23):
What do you think it'll be like? Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:01:25):
I think it's gonna be a sweet atmosphere. I mean,
all of us are super excited, and I mean Wrigley
Field is so historic, so I think we're all just
ready to play. I mean, I'm sure it's gonna be
weird with the fans being so far away, but I'm
sure we'll try to make do and have a lot
of Wisconsin fans out there, so it'll be fun.
Speaker 8 (01:01:41):
It's gonna be chilly and windy. You okay with that?
Speaker 11 (01:01:44):
Oh yeah, It's called the Wendy City for a reason.
I'm excited to get out there. I mean, I'm sure
it's gonna be freezing, but we'll play through it.
Speaker 8 (01:01:52):
Yeah, it was the last time you played outside.
Speaker 11 (01:01:54):
I actually played outside at Soldier Field when I played
for the Mission growing up. So we were supposed to
I forget who were supposed to play, but it ended
up being just a kids versus parents type of game.
So it was really fun when we got out there.
I'm sure we just.
Speaker 8 (01:02:08):
Tore up on the dads too well.
Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
Knowing your dad, I'm sure you skated right around, just
circles around, right.
Speaker 11 (01:02:15):
I'm sure you tried to line me up a couple
of times. I'm sure you got me once or twice.
But yeah, I remember that being a blast and it
was all good fun.
Speaker 4 (01:02:23):
Sure you What are your parents saying about this? I'm
sure they've been talking to you about it quite a bit.
Speaker 11 (01:02:28):
Oh yeah, they've been. They've been on me for a
long time, trying to get more tickets and everything. So
I've been trying to do my best to please them.
But I know a bunch of my families coming down
and pretty sure Lynn Mark's failing like all those guys.
So I'm sure we'll have a good crowd supporting us
in behind us. So I'm excited to get it going,
yeah for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
And then I know you'd like to get Michigan State
back for what happened on Thursday two.
Speaker 8 (01:02:50):
You guys had that game of your hands.
Speaker 11 (01:02:52):
Yeah, we left a bad taste in our mouth. So
I'm sure we're gonna come out big and hard and
just try to get all over them right away. So well,
we got some things so correct, and we're working on it.
Worked on it today, so we'll get after it. Hopefully
we can pull one out, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
That's Jack Krback, the Naperville, Illinois native. Had a chance
to speak with him at Fifth Third Bank Arena yesterday
the Chicago Blackhawks practice facility, and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Boy, that's a nice set up there for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
And so you go from playing at mont Arena in
East Lansing, you go and get to skate with the
Blackhawks practice, and then you come out.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Here to Wrigley Field where the Cubs play.
Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
It's a pretty neat weekend for these guys.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
I found it interesting that the most important part of
that whole conversation was he got to line up his
dad or her dad got to line him up, and
a father son scrimmage. Knowing his dad, I'm sure he
did take a couple of shots at him.
Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
I'm sure build in Yeah, tough of them off, Yeah,
Badger's trail. Michigan State won nothing. The American Family Insurance
first intermission report continues in a moment, this is Badger
Hockey from Airfield.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Badger Hockey is brought to you by American Family Insurance
Insure Carefully, Dream fearlessly, and by Alliant Energy. Alliant Energy
is powering beyond for you. It's time to drop the
park for the second period.
Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
Here at the frozen confines of Wrigley Field, the Badgers
and the Michigan State Spartans starting with a one nothing
lead on an unassisted goal by defenseman Vladislaw Lukashevich late
in the opening period of play. Elsewhere in college hockey,
minnesotaat Mercy hers five to two to complete a non
(01:04:41):
conference SUITEP. The Gophers are seventeen three and two. How
about Maine knocking off Denver tonight by the final score
of two to one.
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Two top five teams.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
Pioneers won last night up in Rono, and then the
black Bear is getting back by the same score today.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
And if you go seventy miles down the road, you'll
see the Colorad College got beat by.
Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
August thank you twice. Yes, they got swept by Augustanah
five to one yesterday, three to two today. Not bad
at all for August Stana. Garrett Rapoints done a nice
job getting that program started. Northeastern took it to Quinnipiac
today five to one. We saw Yukon at the quick
trip holiday face off. The Huskies blew out Harvard today
(01:05:24):
seven to three, and the United States beat Checkie of
four to one in Ottawa.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
So the US, the.
Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
Defending champs, will play Finland for the gold medal at
the World Junior Championship tomorrow night at six thirty Central
Time on the NHL Network. That's a pretty cool score,
a story for David Carl, Steve Miller and the entire
US staff and that squad.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
I have hats off to them. That played well enough,
and I think the previous game against Finland will give
them a lot of ammunition as to what to do
different in order to be successful.
Speaker 4 (01:05:59):
Yeah, the US lost in Binland in overtime during preliminary play.
Canada got knocked out by check Ya during the quarterfinals.
Chechia will play Sweden for the bronze medal tomorrow at
two thirty Central time. Badgers have a cunest power play
to start period number two one forty nine of power
play hockey. Wisconsin trailing Michigan State won to nothing as
(01:06:22):
we start the second period of play, and I'd love
to hear the organ in the background, the baseball organ. Oh,
it just makes you want to grab a bat and
take some hacks or the lions, some skates and the
hockey stick and take some strides around the rink. Here
(01:06:44):
all right, Wisconsin lost the centerized face off. The buck
was down in the Michigan State z owned. Spartan's able
to send it all the way down and Scarfoni. We'll
leave it all for dex Himer. Badgers have their top
power play unit out there, Leskowski, Finley, Morrissey, Mosley and Dexheimer.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
Morrissey skates through the center circle.
Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
Protects the puck and dumps it in left corner to
right down the wall comes Finley fuck out near the
blue line and dex Sheimer kept it alive, bounces in
the high slot. Gucciardi took it away and turns and
flings it out minute fifteen to go in the Badger's
power play down one early second period.
Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
You get so frustrated on plays like that. The puck
was supposed to go to the center and then go
back to the wall, and it just flops around and
Michigan State gets a wide open easy icing for the punk.
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
Finley skates it in the attacking zone. Badger's wanting it.
Morris Moseley in the high slot. Morrisey looking for him.
Now he gets in the puck at his back to
the net out to deck. Sheimer left playing it's Morrissey
down the wall, sends it back to deck. Sheimer thought
about shooting instead of Morrissey. Now at the half ports
left in the slot mostly pushots save made by the pass.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Both chopped at by one or two Badgers, still loose.
Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
Taken away by Michigan States door ward door wark three
on two shorthanded shift the puck ahead taken away by Deckheimer.
Then from behind the defenseman west stripped deck Sheimer of possession.
Now the Badgers have the pucking twenty five seconds left
on the power play, down one nothing to Michigan State.
Ninety seconds into period number two, up at center ice,
(01:08:12):
lind Mark catches. He's got a power play goal in
two of the three games against the Spartans this season.
Lyn Mark with a puck of the offensive zone. Kuchanan's
out there with him. Daniel Lodged the quarterback on this
power play unit, passed through the slot off of Dick's stick,
taken away by Michigan State. They chip it out of
Harm's way. Out of the box comes Geary Spartan's get
the job done on the penalty kill. Wisconsin overh won
(01:08:34):
on the man advantage, one nothing. Spartan's eighteen oh five
left here in the second period offside called on Michigan State,
no stavage.
Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
And play well as good as the eleven point six
seconds of power play that the Badgers enjoyed at the
end of the first period. They showed nothing on this
minute and fifty seconds face off outside the Wisconsin zone
and on Piedala seeing his shift tonight, the freshman forward
getting a look Piet look from heartland Michigan. I remember
(01:09:08):
last dame that he played. The announcer for the other
team goes, oh great, another pile leckey.
Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
At least he's not playing a tech true Dan. You'll
watch stick handling with a buck through traffic. Now peels
back away from pressure, ran into two Spartans, but outlets
up the far wall to Horpock between the lakes, passing
center to Shoal. Schul chicked it into the offensive zone,
but the Spartans first to it. It's back out of center.
Anthony kerriskates past Shouty across the line. Wisconsin on side
(01:09:37):
and care will dump it in and on the four
check of Simon Tassey freed the puck for Leskowski banks
it out to the point. Now Shoals shot missed a
net that off the end boards. Tassy shot that was
blocked off the stick of one of the Spartans. Michigan
State sends it to center. Manisto try to dig it
three by the Spartans bench. Instead, Wisconsin's mindmark with it.
(01:09:58):
Flan now lead the feed out near the Michigan State
blue line and Wisconsin puts it on net. I think
that was Simon Tassi. A kneeling saved made by the
pasquo and he hangs on.
Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
The Other advantage of being down here is that I
could hear Tassie yelling because he was wide open. I
could hear him yelling for about five seconds before the
puck actually got to him. And then he's got two
Michigan State players just pinned all over him.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Simon Tassy a goal four points this season, just returned
from a lower body injury based off to the left
of the goaltender for Michigan State. Badgers won the draw,
they move it to the left point. A lot of
chuck risks, one missed the net off the endports loosen
front of chat for Mosley, stop by to pass quo
Lola range shot by pull, lot of chuck too high,
(01:10:46):
goes to the corner puck played with a high stick
stoppage and play sixteen forty five to go On this
second one nothing Spartan Badgers had another good look.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
Yeah they did. It was the first uncontested look where
the guy you want to have the buck on his
stick in the slot like that is Raylan Moseley and
for whatever reason didn't get as much wood on it
as he hoped.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
Base off outside the Michigan States on after the Badgers
played the puck with a high stick. Yeah, the Pasco
got a nice right pad save on Moseley. In tight
Morrisey kicked out of the face off circle.
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
Moseley to do the honors.
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
Now he leans in against DiAngelo and Moseley won the
draw to Pullata Chuck left wing. Finley trying to duck
underneath Bascal, knocked down and lost possession. Taken away by
a Michigan State Jerreki dumps it in and gives Chase
shoves deck Sheimer up against the end boards. Morrissey, though
there for help versus to deck Sheimer. Farside. Finley tried
(01:11:47):
to scoop it ahead to center. Got the job done.
Moseley whacked it past the defense man Geary right wing.
Moseley cuts in towards the net, came off a stick
taken away by a Michigan State headman. Passed for Jareki,
too far for him. They wave while zing they did Dan,
you'll launch after a d to d in care headvanced
out of center in Leskowski cuts right through the middle
off to the left goes Leskowsky. He left the puck
(01:12:09):
where he skated from taken away by Michigan States and
then misplayed at center by D'Angelo.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
The Badgers have it back.
Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
Then they turn it over at center and Spartans sent
it right back in four to ten into the second
one nothing Michigan State shots on goals seventeen thirteen in
favor of the Spartans. Kuchen and working near signe. Spartans
take the puck Andrews head Man's to Howard de flex
it deep into the Wisconsin zone. Scarfhony paddles it around
(01:12:36):
all the way out.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
To the point. In orbits.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
He shot one rebound put in by Russell, all orbits
from the right point. It hit the right pad of Scarfoni,
and there was Daniel Russell able to pick up the
garbage and tuck it past Scarfonia to nothing. Michigan State
lead it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
All starts because the Badgers were kind of caught deep
in the zone. The wingers had to come back because
the was in the near corner and that rim around
the all the way out to the point was a
bullet shot by the defenseman from Michigan State. But again,
you can only ask Scarfoni to do so much. He
made the initial save. Nobody tied up the forward in
(01:13:17):
front and it's a quote unquote rebound goal, but it's
also the second one of the night.
Speaker 4 (01:13:23):
Daniel Russell gets his ninth goal of the season. It
comes at four twenty nine hour breakaway. Manisto goes five
hole and Starfhoni stopped.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Him and hung on.
Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
Oh Tommy Manisto, Well, Finn can fly and he got
behind the Badger's defense one on one with Scarfoni and
Tommy shut the door at the last moment.
Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
Kind of a weird situation how he got the puck
to go on a breakaway but tried that little dipsy
doodle and trying to go to the five hole and
Scarfhoni equal to the task and there wasn't any rebound either,
So good play.
Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
Yep again Russell with his ninth goal of the season.
He at thirteen as a sophomore a year ago. A
balanced attack for this Michigan State squad. Simon Tassi in
on the foe checked. The Badgers have been shut out
on fourteen shots on goal twenty five minutes into the game.
Deck Sheimer high slot on his backhand, Lindmark lost a handle,
(01:14:22):
now cycles back behind the net and Tassy fights through
the check from Lukashevich. Turnaround shot from the right wing
got through, it went off the stick of Lindmark put
it back in front, and it trickles through the low
slot and the Spartans taken away and then they knock
it out of play. Fourteen thirty seven ago. Here in
the second period, Spartan's lead Wisconsin two to nothing. American
(01:14:43):
Family Insurance is the official partner of insurance, partner of
UW Athletics, Visit andfam dot Com Slash Badgers all season
long for exclusive content, Badger fans, sweepstakes and more.
Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
Despite the fact that the Badgers have given up two
in the first period in the five minutes, the intensity
has still been there. Yep, I'm impressed.
Speaker 4 (01:15:08):
In Michigan State the second best defensive team in the country,
giving up one point eight goals per.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
Game only Minnesota States.
Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
Ben Benner Daniel Lodge took a hit from Kelly but
released a pass for care Morrissey Fires won all the
way down a foot race that Finley wins. No, they'll
call Wisconsin for icing or did they just blow the
play dead? It came off the end boards, the pass
quote gloved it and hung on so It was a
stretch passed by Morrissey trying to spring Finley, and Quinn
(01:15:37):
has such great speed he beat the defenseman to the
hash marks. But the puck ricochet in front of the
Michigan State net covered by the goalie. So now they'll
drop the buck to the right of the pass quote
face all four Wisconsin in the offensive zone. Won by Morrissey.
It's a lot walks down the left wing, takes a
goal line left now back behind the net, put.
Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
It in front.
Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
Chance for Finley got knocked down to the seat of
his pants. Michigan State takes it away and comes to
center ice with it with a head of steam. Their captain,
Red Savage now Larsen through traffic, fired one and on
his knees, scarfon. He made the stop and hangs on
to nothing. Michigan State fourteen oh one left in the
second period here at Wrigley.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
One thing I've been infested with with Michigan State is
that when they come out of the zone, they're coming
at one hundred and eighty miles an hour. There's if
there's an errand pass, they stop on a dime and
they're right back into the play. In the defensive zone.
There's been very few turnovers created by the Badgers. As
Michigan State comes.
Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
Out of the zone, defensive zone face off, Badgers battling
for control. Larson took it away, Horback couldn't deflect it
the center. Spartan sent it in deep shoal defending door
warp doorward possessing right wing fighting through a hole in
(01:16:55):
a stick check and taken away by the Badgers Tyson
Dick He overskates the puck, nears the Badger bench. Horback,
throwing his body around again in a whistle and a
hand pass, stops to play thirteen thirty four to go
in the second. Now Horback needs to be separated from Basco.
Savage comes over and starts jawing with Horbach, and al
Jack will turn to his right and head to the
Badger's bench.
Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
Just little things that I've noticed when you're on ice
level and you don't think about it. It is cold
in here. I have a pair of gloves underneath my mittens,
and I'm in a situation where I just looked out
and watched the linesmen and referees with their bare hands. Yeah,
they're not even wearing gloves, Like what you guys crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
There's a stoppage and play. With thirteen thirty four left
in the second period. Here from Rigley Field in Chicago,
Michigan State leads Wisconsin two to nothing. We'll take a
one minute break. This is Badger hockey from Airfield.

Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
Well earlier today?
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
Second ranked all Io State means a top rank Wisconsin
women in a shootouts on the frozen confines of Wrigley
Field here, the top ranked team in Division one men's
college hockey, Michigan State, leads Wisconsin to nothing, thirteen thirty
four to go in the second period of play. A
really nice crowd here at Wrigley Field on January fifth,
(01:19:20):
a fourth of twenty twenty five. I would say close
to twenty thousand people had made it out here to
watch college hockey here on a cold Saturday night on
the North side of Chicago.
Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
I'm trying to think if it's packed for a baseball game,
it's like forty yep, something like that, anything like that, yep.
Speaker 4 (01:19:40):
Waiting for the media timeout to expire, and it has,
and so face off coming up to the right of
Luca to Pascuo, who's thrown two shutouts and five starts
this season in place of number one goaltender Trey Augustine.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
He's been very good. He's a young man that.
Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
Played for the pet Tickton Bees in the BHL two
years ago. Through the long range shop by Wisconsin's Plata
Chuck missterevent held in by the Badgers finley along the
right wing wall, and the puck cleared over the glass
and out of play. Now the Pasco played for pent Tickton,
which won the British Columbia Hockey League Championship two years ago.
(01:20:20):
In the playoffs, he went sixteen and oh with a
one ninety nine goals against a nine to twenty four
save percentage. He had a thirty six to three and
one record in the regular season for Penn Tickton two
years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
As we used to say, if there's any place that
doesn't play defense, it's the BCJHL. Yeah, so you better
have a good goalie, and he was good, very very good.
Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
Based off to his left, the puck carams to the corner,
Michigan State has it, reverses it far side. Morrisy trying
to pull it free out near the blue line, got
past Polota Chuck hears. Isaac Howard won on one with
Deck Sheimer. Good stick by Dex Sheimer. The snap shot
out high goes off dex Sheimer's stick and out of
play nothing Michigan State thirteen or nine left in the
second period of play.
Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
Paul cappan Bianco wants to know whether I need foot
warmers or something that I can get warm with. Yeah,
he's always conscientious that way.
Speaker 4 (01:21:13):
Now he's gonna snap a picture of you and I
and he's gonna we stand here at Wrigley Field, and
Puck's gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Drop in just a moment, and he's gonna send it
to Long Island.
Speaker 4 (01:21:23):
Based off to the left of Scarfhoni, who's got the
beautifully knit cap on top of his hockey mask, based
off one by the Spartans. Although the two teams shousting
below the goal line, Puck's qurts out near the blue line.
Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
The Badgers now have it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Ryan Bottrel got enough of it to headman to Daniel
Lotch across the line.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
He'll dump it in.
Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
The poor check is Lynmark Michigan staying out there. First,
characterries the hole. He's down on his knees.
Speaker 4 (01:21:51):
Buck is across the line. Badgers have to touch up.
They have Michigan State now with possession, long lead feet
blocked by Wisconsin's Bottrel, at center back checking lynn Mark.
He's got it to Botterrel hands back to lynn Mark,
but it got chopped off his stick in back to
the Badger blue line. Anthony Kerr with it, angles a
pass to Fitzgerald, pumped it off the sideboards for himself,
(01:22:14):
comes in low.
Speaker 3 (01:22:15):
Left and then got spun down behind the net. No penalty.
Speaker 4 (01:22:19):
He wiped out behind the Michigan State cage.
Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
Yeah, I think he was just at an angle where
he couldn't keep his balance.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
Oh Tassy chipped one in front of the net. Badgers
couldn't get a stick on it. Now shoals with a
shot and the right handed catching goaltenders snags it and
hangs on. With twelve h six to go in the
second period to nothing, Michigan State leads Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Good offensive pressure, they got some good rebounds. They got
some average shots on net. I guess if you want
to want to call it that, But the fact that
when they took the shot and there was a rebound
they beat the Michigan State player to the puck is
a positive sign.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
Base off to the right of the goaltender to pass quo.
Fitzgerald stays with Liskowski and kuchanen. Fitzgerald kicked the puck
to the sidewall. Liskowsky then out to the point long
range shot by Failing, knocked down in front. It's loose
and gobbled up by Kelly skates it out to center
and he whips it down in around to the right side.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
The Badger's Failing got there first.
Speaker 4 (01:23:19):
The braces for a hit, released the past the Shoals
didn't have his head up as he moved it near
side to Kuchanan Spartan's plate. Take it deep and now
the Badgers will try again. Leskowski fails to clear, forcing
Schuls back deep in his own zone. Zach tied up
near side, taken away by Wisconsin's. Fitzgerald rolled it past
the Liskowsky couldn't catch it at the blue line and
(01:23:40):
the Spartan stumping right back in. Now Here's Shoals near side.
Fitzgerald got pressured and threw the buck back to neutral.
Now Fitzgerald throwing his body around, but he left his
skates and got hammered to the ice himself, as Gucci
already braced for that. Hits puck back in Wisconsin zone
(01:24:01):
taken by Falan. He fired it past one spartan, but
not past Gucciardi bucket center, spinning away from Pressure's savage.
He'll dump it in eleven minutes left in the second
Badgers have yet to score two nothing Michigan States Wisconsin
only five shots on goal. Here in the first nine
minutes of period number two. Gucciardi's got it flubbed to
(01:24:22):
pass the savage, chased it down to the red line
and pitchforked it deep into the Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
That's where shoals goes together.
Speaker 4 (01:24:29):
The slow moving reverse pass to Falan got it up
to the near side and chipped out by Wisconsin, taken
by Tyson Dick. Here comes Dick down the right wing side,
looking shooting low. Saint may by the pass quote Schol
will track it down and throw it back to the
right corner. Jack horback after at four Wisconsin protecting the puck,
cycled below the goal line, tick in front for Shol.
He pushed it wide Sawyer Schull eight career goals, four
(01:24:52):
have come against Michigan State. Tyson Dick, with it States
at right corner, puts his back towards the net looking
for reinforcements. Tried to sports a pass out to the point,
lost Dick got it back.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Tyson Dick in the.
Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
Slot still with possession down low, squeaking right through the
blue paints. He'll run it down on the right corner.
Tyson Dick. Show here for Wisconsin. Pass out to the
point off the stick of Dexheimer and it rolls back
Wisconsin's way. That's actually icing on Michigan State. Patris get
an offensive zone face off.
Speaker 3 (01:25:20):
Yeah, and those five guys better get ready to come
back out on the ice because they're trying to pull
a fast one. I think number twelve or sixteen were
the gentlemen who tried to jump off from Michigan State.
But as remember, when there's an icing against your team,
you have to stay on the ice for the defensive
zone face off opportunity for the Badgers with their top
(01:25:43):
line out against a quote unquote a little bit tired
second or third line for Michigan State, Badgers win the
face off.
Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
Anthony caertuff angles shot stop by the pass quot it's
loosen front. Now it's back behind the nets. Oh, the
pass wo couldn't locate the puck, and now.
Speaker 3 (01:25:59):
The Badgers Gavin Morrissey.
Speaker 4 (01:26:03):
Gavin Morrissey beats the pass quo the Badgers on the
board down to one.
Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
Well, I'll give a lot of credit to Anthony Kerr
number one. He made the initial shot that the goaltender
had no idea where it was. Then he went and
got his own rebound, and he comes behind the net
as a defenseman. He's behind their net and makes that
bad angle passed to Morrissey, and Morrissey only probably had
a foot to shoot at, but it was in the basket.
Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Gavin Morrissey his seventh goal of the season. Give Anthony
Kerr the primary assist to the Badgers have pulled within
one against Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (01:26:46):
That was a big time goal, a necessary goal, and
a much needed goal, to say the least. Anthony Kerr
down below the blue line or the goal line, where
he's not very accustomed to be with play by Cairen.
Speaker 4 (01:27:04):
So the Badger's on the board here at Rickley to
two to one game Morrissey from care at ten to seventeen.
Badgers looking for more. Lynn Mark out with Tassy and
Bottrel on the forward line. Buckets loose off the heel
of Vansagi stick and Daniel Lodge has it whips a
(01:27:24):
pass chin high. Tassy brought it off the wall. Now
Bottrell follows up his shot block it's losing front. Tassi
JEMs at it. The Pasquo stopped it and covers for
a face off. Nine oh eight to go on the
second Gavin Morrissey scores for Wisconsin Badgers down one against
Michigan State. Badger hockey brought to you by Cleary Building
(01:27:44):
Built with pride before the shamrock is applied Clearybuilding dot
Com back in a moment. This is badger hockey from
airfield Gavin Morrissey from Anthony Karen ten to seventeen cut
Michigan State's lead in half. Spartans two Badgers won nine
oh eight to go in the second period. That was
(01:28:06):
a huge momentum swing for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
Yeah, it was. And give all the credit to Anthony
Care number one. He got the initial shot, he followed
his rebound puck goes behind the net. He has the
wherewithal to come behind the net and give a pass
to a bad angle shot for Morrissey. But also give
credit to Morrissey because he never he stood his ground
the whole time as an open target and Care put
(01:28:34):
it right on the money and Morrissey put it right
in the basket.
Speaker 4 (01:28:37):
Anthony Kerr, playing in his one hundred and fifty first
career game, picks up his seventh assist of the season,
now plus nine to lead all Badger defense at plus minus. Morrissey, Moseley, Finley,
dex Sheimer, and Polanachuck.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
The Badgers five skaters. As we look down to our rights, Well,
I like this because the Badgers had the opportunity to
make a line change, and you get into a situation
where every offensive zone face off that they're gonna have,
you're gonna see line one or line two I think
(01:29:14):
will be put on the ice if they have the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
And if you have a two minute media timeout and
it usually extends longer than that for television purposes, why
not put that top line back out exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
Y didn't have a rest.
Speaker 4 (01:29:26):
Yeah, Morrissey won the draw, but too strongly. It bounced
over the stick of Kiladachuck, who has to hustle back
for the Wisconsin zone to prevent Russell.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
From getting there.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
And now plana Chuck was in time and space goes
d to d to Deckheimer up the middle of the
ice to Morrissey, skates passed one man off to his
left across the line. Moseley slot pass loose, Binley can't
reach it. Spartan sent it back Wisconsin's way, not strong
enough for icing, and fil Plata chuck after it hands
off to Dexheimer now looks ahead, flips it past to Moseley,
(01:29:57):
knocked it down, chipped it ahead now for Morrissey. Morrissey
fans off to his right, dumps it into the right
corner and pursues. And first to it though is Charlie
strangles from Michigan State up the middle of the ice
to Russell finds Howard passed near side to the cutting
to and Andrew's broken up by launch. Daniel left it
back behind the net. Anthony Kerr there to help out.
(01:30:18):
Wisconsin able to break out, Finley tapped.
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
It out to center.
Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
Now it's gobbled up by Wisconsin's care. Eight oh eight
to go in the period two to one, Michigan State
bouncing pass off the end boards in front of the net.
Fitzgerald tried to run it down. He was there, but
couldn't reach the puck, and then it's batted back to
the Michigan State net and the pass who covers in
a face off to come with eight o one to
go on the second period clock. Let's paut ten seconds
(01:30:43):
for station identification, ten seconds for a legal ID. You're
listening to his consin Badger hockey Brian Posik and Ian
Parrin standing inside Wrigley Field, right up against the glass
of this two hundred eighty five foot ice sheet. Michigan's
eight leads Wisconsin two to one and with possession lukashavits
down low left, Kelly trying to force one in front
(01:31:06):
of it, went off the body of Balin and then
paddled by Scarfoni to the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
Michigan state holds.
Speaker 4 (01:31:11):
Or misses, shot missed, an ol Kron's off the shelf
around to the near side. The Badger's trying to get
position to clear pianola cannon steal by Kelly. He skates
to the slott It's grist shot stop by Scarfoning, who
hangs on and then anist gun knocked to the ice
by Zach Shules and you can hear the Spartans fans
behind us not too pleased about it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
Well, if there's anybody I don't want to be in
front of the net with, it would be Zack Scholes,
because he can lay the lumber on anybody, I will guarantee.
Speaker 13 (01:31:41):
You that.
Speaker 4 (01:31:44):
Face off to the right of scarfhoning. Michigan State took
the lead late first period on Vladislav lukas Shaevich's first
collegiate goal on assistance, and then the Spartans made a
two nothing and could try to make a three nothing,
but Savage couldn't pick up a loose buck in front
of the net. Plata Chucks sweeps it behind the cage
for Deckzheimer. He'll backhand one that finds the skates of
(01:32:04):
poor back right wing past Shoal across the line. He's
cut off by Gary and carried to the corner shoulder.
Still with possession down below the goal line, Tyson Dick
can't reach it all the right wing wall. Shoal comes
off the wall, got tackled, no penalty. Pallana Chuck in
the left point sends it back deep. Shoal on his
skates and he got knocked down an time by Gary
(01:32:26):
the defenseman. Michigan State will skate up the center and
a pass the de flex out of play six point
fifty four to go here. In the second period two
to one, Spartan's lead the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (01:32:37):
And that last particular player reminded me of the one
who was just in front of us late in the
first period. I think the puck went up and off
the glass about three times, and the only person who
could have been hurt by it was the linesman. And
between ducking and warding off the play, they're in the
battles one those guys face.
Speaker 4 (01:32:55):
Off outside the Michigan State zone. Spartan's lead two to one.
Tassi will step in for lin Mark, who was kicked
out of the face off. Certain Tassy leans in, wins
to drawback to latch and he'll hammer it deep the
pasquaut of his net behind the cage, moves it far
side to Andrews chipped it along. Now for Van Sagi,
(01:33:16):
who got it to center and taken there by D'Angelo
cut through. A couple of badgers fell down trying to
draw a pedally. Nothing called lin Mark was back checking.
DeAngelo tried to draw a pedaly, but the referees elect
them to play on. Now here's lind Mark carrying it
in right wing, pushed a shot toward the pasco, knocked
it free.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Now Tassy with a backcan that didn't get through.
Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
Anthony Kerre able to hold his own comes down the
right wing boards care in the corner, fell to his knees, pucked,
taken away by Michigan State, lifted out towards center. Van
Sagi had it launched, though, chopped it back to neutral,
and then Michigan State came offside six' eleven to go
in the second period two to one. Spartans shots on
(01:33:57):
goal twenty two to eighteen in favor of him.
Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
You kind of a weird sound out of that linesman's
whistle when we were standing right and we could see
the off side, and so could he. He must have
tried to blow it three times before it actually came
out with any type of whistle. Maybe it's freezing up
a little bit, that could be. It's if it's like
my feet and hands.
Speaker 4 (01:34:20):
Yes, it's interesting looking at the Wisconsin bench, all the
coaches are in black coats and white ski caps, and
you look at Michigan States bench, they're all in black coats,
but the head coach and his top two assistants are.
Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
Not wearing ski caps.
Speaker 4 (01:34:34):
Adam Nightingale, Jared to Michael and Mike Towns are toughing
it out. Wisconsin won the face off and tex Sheimer
will hammer it in, making it a foot race between
Moseley and the Michigan State defenseman. The linesman, though, says
that the Spartans won that race. That's icing on Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (01:34:55):
That's okay. This line out there and the defense'son face off.
I don't have a problem with that. Yeah, it all
depends on who they get matched up against. It'll be
against Charlie Stramles line yep, and uh we know he's
good on the draw. He is good.
Speaker 4 (01:35:11):
One thirteen of twenty five on Thursday at East Lansing
also had the game winning goal and an assist of
set up the game tying goal. Moseley able to one
hand the puck out at center, Finley reaching for it,
got spun around and knocked to his knees. Michigan State
with a puck Russell couldn't handle the pass at center,
nor could Moseley, and then it's sent back to tex
(01:35:33):
Siland so what are they doing with quin Findley? How
can what is Michigan State doing to slow him up?
Keep him quiet?
Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
In his face? Every time he's in in his zone,
you're going to see somebody in his face. There's no
question about it. He's just got to be smart.
Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
Yep, here's dex Shimer right side, pull outa chuck looking
and shooting and it's loose on went out the passco
rebound Badgers score.
Speaker 10 (01:35:56):
Hey, hey, Quinn Finley with Finley the game time goal,
it's too too well, you asked, what.
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Are they doing to tie him up? Well, when they're
not in his face and he gets a wide open
net with a rebound, he'll put a top shelf and
there's no question why he's the leading goal scorer in
the nation because that was a goal scorers goal.
Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
Wantachuck shot Karen wide and then to pass Goo late
getting back to the right side that buck puck took
a beautiful bounce to Finley low left wide open, had
the net all to his lonesome. Finley scores at fourteen
thirty five and the Badgers has down to nothing have pulled.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
Even as we look at the replay, there's gonna be
some contention that Ryland Moseley may have interfered with the
goal goaltender on his way around the back of the net,
and you can hear the crowd not at all happy
about it.
Speaker 4 (01:36:55):
Captain Owen Lindmark will skate over to the scorers table
with the referees to continue the conversation started by head
coach Mike Hastings. But Sean Fernandez and Jonathan Tatarski are
going to take a look. Did you see a clean
replay to determine whether or not Moseley interference clearly or to.
Speaker 3 (01:37:12):
Take a look at it. I mean, he's on his shoulder,
but he's not interfering with him for the right to
go back into the crease. That's as timid of goaltender
interference as I could ever call, if I could ever recall.
But the fact of the matter being is that even
if there's contact, then he doesn't allow him to get
back into the crease the way he wants to. That
(01:37:33):
would be goaltender interference. I find it hard to believe
that that would be the call because of the timidness
or the lack of aggression that Rylan Moseley had. He
was just trying to skate around the back of the net,
so it's not that much of a big deal.
Speaker 4 (01:37:50):
He has the right to the puck too, correct right,
And the puck got shot back behind the net. The
pasquo went looking for it and Moseley and him were
kind of shoulder to shoulder, and it didn't look like
the Pascal was trying to relieve the contact, and it
didn't look like Mosley was doing anything out of the ordinary.
There was a little bit of contact, that's about it.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
I wasn't trying to initiate it, There's no question about
that in my mind. But I'm not wearing the stripes
of the red armband correct. So they'll take some time
review this properly. We'll take a long, hard look at it.
And I can tell you that's one of the emphasis
for NCAA hockey at Division one, two, three, whatever level
(01:38:35):
you're at, the fact of the matter being is that
if there's any kind of contact, it can be called
Michigan State I'm assuming initiated the call. Yeah, and we'll
see what happens. They could lose their time out.
Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
Mike Hastings used his time out to challenge a call
in East Lance and came back to bite him. It's
a good goal. Michigan State will lose its time I'm
out finley against. The goal is sixteenth of the season
at fourteen thirty five from Polada Chuck and Moseley for
(01:39:09):
Joe Polanachuck his first point this season after scoring eighteen
as a freshman, and for Moseley, career point number one
hundred the Michigan Tech Transfer scores is one hundredth collegiate point.
A two to two game here and Wrigley Field in
Chicago between Wisconsin and top rank Michigan State. Plan shoals
(01:39:31):
with Dick, schol and Horbach on the ice lead beat
by Dick too far for Horbach back to get a
Gucciarni in a good hit by Horbach trying to free
the puck for Tyson Dick Nolak Michigan State Outlets Shouty
got around shol There's care to help his teammate. Out
adres take the puck up to center. Dick can't reach it,
picked up by Kelly, turned it over to Carre at center.
(01:39:54):
He'll dump it in. After gaining the red line. The
PASCO can't stop it. It trickles to the far corner,
bounces his below the goal line, cooking it in on
the four check. Kelly got their first for Michigan State.
Taken away by the Sparks. They throw it through the
high slot and now try to settle things down to
their own zone. Badgers very persistent on the four check,
puck popped out of play and with four point thirty
(01:40:17):
six to go here in the second period, Wisconsin's erased
a two and nothing deficit. It's the Badgers two and
Michigan State two, and we'll take a break. This is
Badger hockey for Blairfield Bag at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Badgers have pulled even against Michigan State. Second period goals
(01:40:39):
from Gavin Morrissey at ten to seventeen Quinn Finley at
fourteen thirty five. We've got ourselves a hockey game here
at the Frozen Confines in.
Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
Yeah, And I don't think that's any surprise to anybody,
because if you see the results of every other game,
it's three two overtime. Yeah. One goal games are kind
of the mold that Wisconsin and Michigan State have set
for this year. But I'm very impressed with the fact
that the Badgers have not lost any of their zip
(01:41:11):
even when they were down. They haven't lost any of
their zip and they're sticking to the game plan. But
I'm also very impressed with how Michigan State can get
out of the zone so easily. Yeah, and yet as
soon as they get into the offense. That's all the
Badgers are doing a good job of corraling.
Speaker 4 (01:41:29):
Though Wisconsin has played thirteen one goal games this season,
four wins, a tie, and eight losses in those one
goal games, Michigan State has played far fewer one goal
games four and oh, make that five and oh in
one goal games. We're tied at two, four point thirty
six to go. Second period, Morrissey Moseley Finley back out
(01:41:53):
for the cardinal and White face off to the left
of the Michigan State cage. Morrissey to take the draws
use in the circle. Still lose, Moseley tries to pull
it free care decides to backpedal rather than pinch in,
and it's played down to the Wisconsin zone, but Moseley
able to click the puck out through center. Finley now
in a foot race to the corner. He gives chase
and runs it down, cuts to the net. Tried to
(01:42:14):
one hand one in there to passco may have gotten
a piece of it door Whard then can't clear.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
Badgers have it.
Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Slot pass intercepted by Michigan State and it's banked out
through center and back Wisconsin's way and Daniel lodge there
swoops in and gets the puck leap feed Finley drop
pass Forrest. He trying to refeed Finley low left man.
He put it in front and a round back. Can't
shut by Moseley stopped by the Passcoal We almost kicked
it in his own nets now door Ward got a
(01:42:41):
hit from Finley. Fuck out near the blue line. Plata
Chuck can't reach it. Taken away by Michigan States three
forty five left, second period, two two the score Michigan
State deflex it into the Wisconsin's own Badgers after it
he rimming around on the near side, kucon and chops
it out to neutral ice. Badgers live to play another
play up the center bounces away from Jireki Joe Plantachuck
(01:43:04):
quickly after it goes d Tod to Deckheimer moves its
feet up the middle of the ice. Here comes Wisconsin Fitzgerald,
cut off by a pair of Spartans over by the
badger's bench. Dex Sheimer now protect hands off to Fitzgerald,
who dumps it in and chases first man there of
the defenseman West oh In West up the right wing
wall near the benches. Again across the line, Van Sagi
(01:43:25):
he'll snap one off, fought off by Scarfhoni. It's loose
in the slot, trying to reach it as the Angelo
quick shot by Gary kicked out by Scarfoni. You stop
there for the Badger's netminder. Wisconsin loves it out to center.
Lynn Mark moved it into the corner, gives chase into
the Michigan State zone. Spartan's tried and jam it out
(01:43:46):
Badger's hole for a moment. Now out to neutral Ice
Leskotsky looking for it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:50):
Falen has it.
Speaker 4 (01:43:51):
He dumps it in two forty left in the second
two to two games. There comes to Michigan State's DiAngelo
One hands it pass to the near wing and Russell
deflected it into the Wisconsin zone. Badgers got their first
rim around not out long range shot off the stick
of Lindmark and wide. Michigan State comes right down the boards,
pinching in. They send it deep in the Badger's end
(01:44:12):
care off the near side boards. Lynn Mark gott knocked
down lose bucket Neutrice. Badger's Tassie picks it up. He's
got a right wing, tries to make a move on
one of the Spartans defenders and couldn't get around him.
Good play by Bascal back checking Botterrel slows the progress
of Howard. Fucking created Tassy. He back hands it into
the attacking zone. Borel tried to drop it back to Tassie,
(01:44:34):
he couldn't catch it. Taken away by Howard. Howard's slot passed.
Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
That goes off.
Speaker 4 (01:44:38):
The state of care came free to Botterrel leaves it
off for Shoal. He tries to get it deep and
that went off. The Spartan up the right wing. Now
Howard across the line, back pedaling near the boards to
the point he goes and Andrews to Gucciardi got around
Porbach a long range shot redirected by Russell. And why
now Howard flips a pass across Gucciardi. Oh, his shot
(01:44:58):
knocks down in front by Dan. You'll watch that hit
him right in the gut, I think, and there's no
protection in the belly button.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Here's Horboch throwing his body.
Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
Around against Gucciardi right in front of us. Chip it
a head now for Tyson Dick Dick trying to pull
it off the wall. The defenseman Andrews gets in his
way and makes the play. Now the Spartans angle to
pass out to center, pull out of Chuck first there,
redirected pass Horwawk to Dick, got spun around by Gucciardi.
No penalty passing front by Wisconsin. Chance for Dexheimer. He
(01:45:31):
couldn't get a stick on it. Back to the corner,
it goes Badger's trying to dig it off the wall.
A minute to go on the period, Morrissey shot that
was block ricochet the Moseley par side his shot from
a tough angle block. Michigan State exits its own zone.
Now Howard will scoop it in and get a change.
Bex Sheimer took a hit from Kelly, who took the puck. Kelly,
(01:45:55):
with possession, flips it across to Lukashevich, big left handed defenseman,
dumps it in. Benisto now cut off by Wisconsin's Morrissey,
Kelly and Deckzheimer engaged in the near corner. Twenty eight
seconds to go in the period, a two to two
game fuck off the near boards. Mosley takes a hit
from Anisto, but got it to center. Ryland reaches for
(01:46:15):
it and picks it up. Ducks around a hit, dumped
it to the corner. Shouty after it for Michigan State
tries to reverse back to the near wall. Ten seconds
to go in the period, Finley looking for it, reaching
for it, can't pull it free. Spartan's have it with
five seconds Badgers in the midst of a change, long
lead feet on goal in Scarfonia to stop it with
(01:46:35):
his right pad, and that's it for period number two.
Michigan State extended its lead with a goal early in
the second, but the Badgers scored twice in about four
minutes Morrissey and Finley, and after two periods of play
from Wrigley Field in Chicago, it's Wisconsin two and Michigan
State two. Badger Hockey brought to you by Culvers, and

One lucky winner will receive four game tickets, a Culvers

that's UW Badgers dot Com Backslash Samboni. Wisconsin and Michigan
(01:47:21):
State tied it too. What a second period and for
the Badgers to be down to nothing. You mentioned they
weren't backing down. The puck just wasn't going in the net.
And then they found ways to get some things done.
Speaker 3 (01:47:32):
Yeah, I think they went some one on one battles
in front and that was a big issue from there.
But the fact that the Badger defensemen have been able
to pinch and stay down and realize that hey, the
other forward that I've out side, that I pinched on
the forwards backing me up. They're doing it with a
lot more confidence dance any care situation. In the last
(01:47:53):
couple of years, you would have never seen him down
below the goal line unless there was an earthquake that
put him down there. That's all there will was to it.
But he's become more offensive minded and I think jumping
into the play has really helped.
Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
All Right, So the Badgers have pulled even with a
top ranked team in the country trying to win the
regular season series. Wisconsin to Michigan State two. And we
will take a break our first break of the second
intermission back in three minutes. This is Badger hockey from Learfield.
Speaker 3 (01:48:25):
Well.
Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
After two periods of play here at Wrigley Field, Wisconsin
and Michigan State are tied at two. Spartans had a
one nothing lead after the first When Vladislav Lukashevich scored
unassisted at fifteen thirty six, Spartans made it nothing four
to twenty nine into the second period, Daniel Russell a
rebound goal off a shot by the defenseman Austin Orbitz
(01:48:50):
that made it two to nothing, Russell's ninth of the year.
But then the Badgers scored Anthony Kers setting up Gavin
Morrissey at ten to seventeen, morris He's seventh goal that
made it a two to one game, and then Quinn
Finley got a nice bounce off the end boards and
found the back of the net wide open net for
Finley is sixteenth goal of the season to lead the country.
(01:49:13):
Joe Polanachuck and Ryland Moseley with assists at fourteen thirty
five and again for Polanachuck his first point of the
season and for Moseley the one hundredth of his career.
And that's quite a feather in the cap of the
Michigan Tech transfer.
Speaker 3 (01:49:28):
I wonder who they'll give the puck to Moseley for
his one hundred point or hey, Joe this is your
first one of the year. You can have this puck, right,
regardless of who does it. I think that they would
be more concerned if they didn't get if they win
this one. When they win this one, I'll take the
game puck. That would be the nice part of it
when it was there. It's just kind of a tradition.
(01:49:50):
But for sure, I think that each and every person,
you know, you'd say, oh, one hundred points, that's a
monumental thing. But you know what, Rylan Mosley would go, Yeah,
the other ninety nine were pretty good too, right, so I'll,
you know, give me some pucks from seventy four or
seventy five or whatever it is. But for Joe Poladichuk,
(01:50:12):
kind of the quote unquote monkey off your back type
situation where he has played well offensively, but I just
don't think that he's back to the level that he
was previous to his injury. Yeah, before his injury. It's
just one of those things where it may take time,
but he's enough of a good athlete that it won't
(01:50:34):
take as much time as it would for a normal person,
excuse me, to come back in that second period of play.
Speaker 4 (01:50:40):
Wisconsin credited with thirteen shots on goal, Michigan State only seven.
Tommy Scarfoni's six saves in that period he has twenty
two through two periods of play. Luca de Pasco eleven
saves in the second. He has twenty stops through two
periods of play. The Badgers and the Spartans are tied
(01:51:00):
at two. You know, Michigan State is, I mean again,
a very solid defensive team, but a very balanced offensive
team too. Wisconsin's defense ain't all bad either. In the
limit Michigan State to seven shots on goal in the
twenty minute period, that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Yeah, I'm not sure what the secret is to that,
To be honest with you, I don't know what coach
Hastings installed something different. I'm not one hundred percent sure.
But I noticed that the third forward is always back.
It's not taking any chances, and just the fact that
at the blue line and the offensive blue line, the
Badger defensemen are not scared to jump into the play
(01:51:37):
and create turnovers. And as a result, it resulted in
the first goal with Anthony Kerr being down below the
goal line. But more importantly, I think it's set a
precedent that Michigan State forwards were getting a little bit
too high when they were getting that breakout pass. Huh
So if they're there without their head unattached to their
shoulders after getting hit by a Badger defenseman who's pinching,
(01:52:00):
they'll be looking at second or third time before they
do that again.
Speaker 4 (01:52:04):
Sure, no penalties in that second period. There's only been
one penalty all game. That was against Michigan State. Badgers
had a good look at the end of the first
period on their power play but failed to score. Didn't
get much of a chance when the second period began
for a minute forty nine of power play hockey. The
Badgers scored twice in the second and poll even. It's
(01:52:25):
Wisconsin IO and Michigan State two back in a couple
of minutes. This is Badger hockey from Learfield.

Speaker 4 (01:52:54):
On in that second period, Michigan State attempted only eleven shots.
Three worth blog one shot off target, seven shots on goal.
Tommy Scarfoni stopped six of those seven. Badgers had twenty
attempted shots, one was blocked, six off the mark, thirteen
shots on goal to Pasco stopped eleven of them. Face
Offs of Michigan State with a slight edge twenty five
(01:53:16):
to twenty four. Gavin Morrissey is twelve of twenty two
in the face off circle. Michigan State's best face off man,
Charlie Strammel is nine of sixteen, six shots on goal
and an assist plus two so far for Rylan Moseley
to lead the Wisconsin attack. It's two to two the
Badgers and the Michigan State Spartans here at the frozen

Speaker 3 (01:54:48):
Got a few minutes before we do that.
Speaker 4 (01:54:50):
Wisconsin and Michigan State tied in two during the second intermission. Yeah,
it's cold. It's about the ten degrees right now. It's
a little windy. Badger's equipment manager Nate the Point made
sure that all the guys and coaches were outfitted properly
so they can handle the cold temperatures here at the
Frozen Confines. Had a chance to talk with the Badger's
long time equipment manager Nate la point after practice yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:55:13):
So how long has this been? Game been on your
mind here at Wrigley Field for.
Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
A pretty long time, since about the fall.
Speaker 7 (01:55:19):
Once we kind of got some more details on what
was happening, that's really when the planning started with a
lot of the things, just making sure we had what
we need for the guys as far as uniforms all
the way to bass layers, the warm stuff, extra packing,
all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
So it's been been coming for a while.
Speaker 3 (01:55:35):
So, yeah, what was your first priority?
Speaker 7 (01:55:36):
First priority was the jerseys. Obviously we got to get
those orders and done and figure it out. Then after
that it's all the details, so figuring out the sweatshirts
they're gonna wear, the bass layer stuff, the warm weather stuff,
and then the last minute details are things like handwarmers
and footwarmers and some of those smaller details for the
games and for the staff to keep them warm as well.
Speaker 4 (01:55:57):
So tell us about the jerseys, their cardinal read with
the script badgers and the black piping.
Speaker 8 (01:56:01):
I think it's pretty cool.
Speaker 7 (01:56:02):
Yeah, something different. We involved the players from the process
in the summertime, kind of getting their feedback and they're
on inspiration for the jerseys.
Speaker 5 (01:56:10):
We showed them a.
Speaker 7 (01:56:10):
Bunch of different mock ups and kind of asked what
they liked and didn't like from different jerseys, and they
kind of just pieced meal together. So a little bit
of a baseball feel, a little bit of a Chicago feel,
but still also a Badger feel as well too. And
you know, really changing up with the black pant covers,
something that we have never worn before. It's always been
red pant covers, So something a little different to kind
of add a little pizazz that, you know. And I've
obviously a little bit of inspiration from the Blackhawks two
(01:56:33):
and some of what they wear as well.
Speaker 8 (01:56:35):
So the sticks are kind of cool too.
Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
Sticks are really cool.
Speaker 7 (01:56:37):
That was something that CCM came up with just before
the Winter Classic and things like that for their endorseas
for those games, and then decided to roll it over
for us as well. I love the graphic because it
looks like an old school CCM stick that I grew
up playing with back in the day.
Speaker 5 (01:56:52):
It would stick, and the guys love it too. It's
a cool look for the for the players to have.
Speaker 4 (01:56:56):
Now, obviously the players are going to be skating and
able to move and keep themselves. You've got to keep
the coaches warm too, What have you done for them?
Speaker 7 (01:57:02):
Yeah, so our coaches, we're gonna be wearing some long underwear.
We're gonna be wearing some long tops and some sweatshirts
and hats and some big winter coats. We got gloves,
we got handwarmers, we got footwarmers. The coaches might be
the ones that need to be more warm than the
players will be, and some of the guys will probably
wear some cool weather tops.
Speaker 5 (01:57:18):
But it'll be hit and miss, depending on each guy's
feel for the game.
Speaker 7 (01:57:22):
But yeah, it'll be a cold, windy day, it sounds like,
so we'll see how we fare with that.
Speaker 8 (01:57:26):
Yeah, and you're gonna be the warmest one on the bench.
Speaker 7 (01:57:28):
I'll probably be one of the coldest ones, so I
probably wanted to get access to a heater. We'll make
sure everyone else is warm first before I am.
Speaker 5 (01:57:34):
But we'll be good.
Speaker 7 (01:57:35):
With the longer intermissions and things like that, we should
have plenty of time to warm up.
Speaker 8 (01:57:39):
And I know your wife has had a hand in
this too, hasn't she.
Speaker 7 (01:57:41):
Yeah, she did so, my wife, Cali. She knit some
hats for the players, for the goalies, to have on
their helmets. She did also for the game at Soldier
Field a few years back there too, So you just
need that oversized helmet for the goalies and a hat
for them that just doesn't quite work, So something custom
is always the way to go.
Speaker 5 (01:57:58):
So kind of cool.
Speaker 4 (01:57:59):
Yeah, I mean you were part of the Camp Randol
Hockey Classic, you were part of Soldier Field as well,
and now this, I mean this is exciting for you,
just as is for me and everybody else in them.
Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:58:07):
Absolutely, these games are such a blast, especially when you
get to the game part. All the lead up and
all the hard work that goes into it, all the
staff that we have helping out, all of our students
that are helping out move things around and getting things ready.
But once you get to the game, it's such a
cool experience.
Speaker 4 (01:58:20):
So yeah, that's a Nate li point, long time Wisconsin
equipment manager, making sure that the players and the coaches
are are warm or as warm as they can be
on a frigid night here at Wrigley Field.
Speaker 3 (01:58:34):
How you doing, Ian, I'm struggling. Yeah, I think my
hips have seized up, and I'm pretty sure I haven't
felt anything from my ankles down in the last oh period,
period and a half so to speak. But end all
be all, it's a two to two game, and I
don't have any reason to pack it in because well, no,
(01:58:56):
I love the excitement for sure. Now I should back up.
I've known Nate LaPoint longer than anybody at Badger Hockey has. Yeah,
he was a high school player, a first abandoned player,
then a high school player when I was a coach
at UW o'claire. And he has a brother named Derek.
Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
Yep, pretty good hockey player at North Dakota.
Speaker 3 (01:59:17):
Yes, he was tall, skinny, and every time I would
look at him, I go, there's no way you too
are brothers because Derek was always hanging out at the
far blue line waiting for a breakout pass to get away.
And if there was fur flying any place in the corner,
Nate was in the middle of it. That's just boy.
(01:59:37):
He was a hard nosed kid.
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Well, whoever wins this period wins the hockey game. It's
two two. Wisconsin and Michigan State Spartans have outscored their
opponents twenty three to eight in the third period this season.
The Badgers are at about five hundred If you will
about even with their opponents in third periods. Morrisy, fin Moseley,
(02:00:01):
Michigan State on the opening face off basgoal. Just ice
the puck, yeah, and we'll drop the puck back in
the Michigan State zone.
Speaker 3 (02:00:08):
He was expecting the left winger to do a curl
and then go forward and tip it into the zone,
and the curl was much later than anticipated, so it'll
bring the face off back into Michigan State zone. With
Wisconsin's top line.
Speaker 4 (02:00:23):
On the face off draw, Morrissey with some instructions for Findley,
Moseley launch and care. The puck goes to the corner, though,
and Michigan State wins the draw. Held in with a
stick of Quinn, Finley mostly cycles down to the corner.
Morrissey can't reach it, Shouty does. He can't clear, pinching
in care to keep it alive in the attacking zone.
Michigan State revers his course. They'll try again to clear
(02:00:44):
and Kelly got it out to center ice pass behind
Shouty taken by Wisconsin's Mosely and he fires it down
in the passco stops it turned it over left circle.
Mosley tried to shoot one or pass one Morrissey was
in front.
Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
Neither worked.
Speaker 4 (02:00:59):
Here's dex Shimer. Backhand shot went off a sticking back
behind the net. Morrissey tried to dig it free, it
got knocked free off the glass, stays in the offensive zone.
Bonrel tries to center. Now turnover Morrissey, dex Sheimer. He
tried to shoot. Manisto gout of the way. Wisconsin's Mosley
just got clobbered and no penalty called to Pasco was
knocked down too.
Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
I think it was a double penalty if it was
going to come, because it would have been goaltender interference
or contact with the goaltender and a checking from behind.
Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
Now here's Russell with the puck right wing pass Howard
out high shot by Gucciardi, blocked by Wisconsin, and that
Karen's out of play. Eighteen forty six to go in
the third, a two to two game. Had a Nightingale
not happy with Sean Fernandez after his goaltender got knocked down.
Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
Well, he doesn't have a challenge, No, he doesn't, and
if I'm correct, if they do challenge, yeah, it has
to be a five minute major.
Speaker 4 (02:01:57):
Actually, what happened Mosley made contact with the pass go
after the defenseman Gary Cross checked mostly.
Speaker 3 (02:02:03):
In the back. Exactly what I said before is that
the initial contact was made by the Michigan State defenseman.
Speaker 4 (02:02:10):
Yep face off to the left of Wisconsin miner Tommy Scarfoni.
He stopped twenty two of twenty four shots. Andrews will
fire it deep after at Horbach he tries to chip
it out, No luck there. Gucciardi sends it back deep.
Russell tied up by Care able to jam the puck
to the far corner. Howard now cycles back to Russell,
(02:02:31):
back to Howard out higher right. Andrews just placed it
in the corner. Latch fends off stravel free the puck
for Care. He's able to get it out to center
with some assistance from Tyson Dick. Puck is batted into
mid air and looks like Wisconsin's offside. It was and
the whistle blew and Tyson Dick shot the puck anyway,
it was off target. The Spartans take exception to that, however,
(02:02:55):
and now the referee is in there to separate the
two teams.
Speaker 3 (02:03:00):
I think the micro second of time between release of
the puck by Tyson Dick and then the actual blowing
of the whistle was so insignificant. Yeah that I don't
know if that would be justifiable anything. They did call
it offside. I thought they were gonna call high stick
or hand passed, but yeah, the play was offside.
Speaker 4 (02:03:21):
And then the whistle blew when Tyson Dick picked up
the puck in the offensive zone offside, many shot it,
and then the Spartans took exception, but nothing really came
of it. And now Michigan State sends it down Wisconsin's
way and just ice the puck, and then Kyle Kuchenen
and Vladyslav Lukashevich were john a little bit after the whistle,
(02:03:45):
and back comes Finley, Moseley, and Morrissey yep, with Falen
and Shoals. A lot of the players wearing eye black
under their eyes, kind of like a baseball players would
try to prevent some the glare from the big white standards.
Here on the white ice, here's Shoals. Now Finley shoots
(02:04:07):
one going gloves side onto Pasco, easy stop for de
Pasco hangs on another face off to come a two
to two game about two minutes gone by. Here in
the third period of play, Badgers trying to get their
tenth Quinn of the season and move back within a
game of five hundred. Michigan State trying to get win
number seventeen. Only two losses this season for the Spartans.
(02:04:30):
Won it home against Boston College, the other on the
road at Wisconsin in December. Morrissey to take the face
off with shouting, and he won it so strongly it
split the wickets of Finley and slides all the way
down to the Wisconsin zone. Joe Platachuck after it there,
rimmed it around to the near side. Finley defended but
able to get it out of the zone, throws it
(02:04:51):
through neutral ice. Michigan State picks it up, Gary to Kelly,
Kelly dumps it in. Morrisey after it for Wisconsin, turned
it over to Kelly, charges back behind the net, wrap
around backhand stop, buy Scarfhony Buck the flex all the
way down to the Michigan State's own and the pasco
behind his net. He'll just feather it off the dasher
to the near corner and the Spartans fling it out
(02:05:13):
to center and the Badger's pick it up there. Rodge
to Morrissey, gabbing across the line for Finley. Finley puts
one back door, trying to hit his teammate Kuching and
fresh off the bench. Then it trickled in front of
the net, knocked out a harms way by the Spartans.
Wisconsin's Lodge holds his own skates down the left wing
wall fights through the physicality of Shouty and then Basco
(02:05:36):
Badgers hold on the right side. Finley had it knocked
off his stick from behind and it goes wabbling back
Wisconsin's way. Spartans will get a change, the Badgers will
complete their line change. Lead Feed launched the Flex into
the attacking zone and the Badgers in on the fore chet.
Two to two game turnover. Fitzgerald steeles skates it to
the left boards, loose Pleskowsky turn around shot that got blocked.
(02:06:00):
With it out high, he bumps it off the end
boards in front chip shot by Wisconsin. Fitzgerald denied by
to Passo Pasco backup on his skates. Rister from the
right wing. Flan missed the mark Leskowski over skates in
the corner, centering pass Fitzgerald and tended for Kuchenin batted
back towards Fitzgerald. Christian has it behind the net wrap
around to tempt and at the flex to the far
(02:06:21):
corner there's Leskowski. Oh, the Badger's really all over the
Spartans right now, passed Byleskowsky out of the reach of
Fitzgerald and gathered in by Van Sagi, skates by kukonin
comes across the Badger line and dumps it in to
two games, sixteen oh seven to go in the third,
Badgers trying to win the regular season series from the
(02:06:41):
defending Big Ten champions.
Speaker 3 (02:06:44):
Great to hear the crowding gauge.
Speaker 4 (02:06:46):
Still a lot of folks here watching this college hockey game,
and it's been a good one. And now all whistle
and a stoppage and play fifteen fifty one to go
in the third.
Speaker 3 (02:06:57):
It's Wisconsin two and Michigan State two. I wonder how
much legal andy freeze they have in their system more
than we do. That was the uh one of the
best lines I ever heard. Well, there's a lot of
people here dressed as courage because they got a lot
of that legal anti freeze in their system.
Speaker 4 (02:07:18):
Well, Thenmark to take the face off, and the defensive
zone won the draw deck. Sheimer reverses D to D
to pull lot of chuck up the center, helped along
by Tassy and Deep. Lind Mark in on the fore check,
but the Pasco moved into the far side. They can't
clear Motto roll bouncing shot in front, blocked down by
Michigan State and then they throw it out the center.
A lot of chuck picks up the loose puck and
(02:07:39):
dumps it right back in the Badger's on side. Here's
Gucciardi up ahead the center intended for Russell too hot
to handle. Icing on Michigan States and Chiardi the Capital's
draft choice. Just ice it and the Badgers get an
offensive zone face off.
Speaker 3 (02:07:54):
It's amazing. The forward from Michigan State was tied up
with Daniel Watch. Both went to lift each other sticks
and the buck went by, and it's like, hey, nobody
touched it. It's gonna be a nicing.
Speaker 4 (02:08:05):
Karen Lotch out with Shoal Dick and Horback Sawyer shual
to take the face off against Stramold to the right
of the Michigan State cage and shul wins it back
to care cross Ice. Lotch flutter shot in front, it
hits shall hit the goaltender. The goaltender fell to the
seat of his pants. Now back up on his skates,
and then Strammell took a hit from Shoal after releasing a.
Speaker 3 (02:08:27):
Pass out to neutral ice.
Speaker 4 (02:08:29):
Lotch got knocked down to one knee and Michigan State
picked up the fucking dumped it in, but the Badgers
rimming around and ounce up ahead. Now Jack horback in
on the fore check, got his stick on the clearing
attent by Geary for the second try by the Spartan
sent it back out to center five minutes gone by,
and the third Wisconsin Io Michigan State two, and the
Badgers just whistled for icing. Minards is a proud sponsor
(02:08:52):
with Badger Athletics and reminds everyone to save big money
on all your home improvement needs at Minard's.
Speaker 3 (02:09:00):
Well. Would be interested to see how much of a
tic tac toe game this becomes with icings and flipping
it out of the zone, flipping it out of play,
whatever you want to call it, and you just get
into a situation where a stall tactic might not work
for everybody.
Speaker 4 (02:09:15):
Carson Door Whart to take the draw up from Michigan
State and it's won by the Spartans. Turnaround shot by
Savage stop by Scarfoni. Here comes Tyson Dick out of
his own zone. He'll fire it down deep off the
glass behind the Michigan State net.
Speaker 3 (02:09:27):
He needs a change.
Speaker 4 (02:09:28):
Morrissey's out there now for Wisconsin with Mosley and Finley.
Mosley over skates in the high slot. Savage now has it,
Finley on him, trying to lift his stick. He finds
Patrick Geary, the defenseman. Fires a pass ahead to door
wart deflected by Wisconsin, no icing two to two, Game
fourteen to twenty to play. Mosley Mishandles bucked back into
(02:09:49):
the Wisconsin zone, pull out of chuck around a dex Sheimer.
Speaker 3 (02:09:52):
He lets it go.
Speaker 4 (02:09:54):
Lukashevich picked it up and tried to get it back deep.
Dexheimer intercepted, flipped it ahead to Moseley. Now Finley in
on the attack. Finley can't reach the puckets Orbits cuts
him off, and then it's called out to center. That's
where Daniel Latch picked it up and he snaps it
right back in.
Speaker 3 (02:10:11):
Yeah, we're playing Nirs alone a lot more than we
play on ours if we keep dumping it.
Speaker 4 (02:10:15):
They had manned the tyrney now at the red line,
backhand shot all the way on goal easily steered aside
by scarfony Christian Fitzgerald now had the puck crawl off
his stick. Finley tried to flip it ahead to him,
didn't get anything on it. Upset with himself, the Spartan's
trying to get to the puck and the offensive soone,
but the Badger's open centering pass went off the stick
(02:10:37):
of Wisconsin's lotch still bouncing around.
Speaker 3 (02:10:40):
Badgers take a whack at it.
Speaker 4 (02:10:42):
Now Finley's got it and he'll backhand it out to
center and big hit over by the benches, and now
here's Michigan.
Speaker 3 (02:10:51):
State on the attack. Andrews shot that ricocheted off of
Badger and then cleared out of harm's way by Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (02:10:58):
Steal its center task Leskowsky over skates, tied up bascals.
Now got it from Michigan State up the middle of
the ice, off to his right, bumps it off the
boards and whistle it off side. Called twelve fifty five
to go here in the third, it's Wisconsin two and
Michigan State two. Yeah, Finley was stick candling, flipped the
(02:11:19):
puck up and then got hit from behind, and Andrews
crushed Findley into the badger's bench. He actually went over
the shelf, teetered over the shelf, his head went down
and his teets went high into the air. He was
ready for a change in, but he didn't plan to
go headfirst into the badger's bench.
Speaker 3 (02:11:38):
I've seen that happen numerous times. There was one end
today's NHL game between the Rangers and the Capitols where
he went into the bench and two things usually happened.
One of two things usually happened. Either while he's down there,
somebody's given him about four right hands to the face,
or they push him back out on the ice and say,
(02:11:59):
don't know this, your bet go to the other bends.
It depends on what mood they're in, right, yes, yes,
it also depends on the score right at that point
in time.
Speaker 4 (02:12:09):
Well, it's been fun here at Wrigley's two to two
game with twelve fifty five to play.
Speaker 3 (02:12:14):
The Badgers are idle.
Speaker 4 (02:12:16):
Next weekend and then open a four game homestand they'll
host Long Island University January seventeenth and eighteenth. The Sharks
are about a five hundred ball club, so they're no slouch.
And then Michigan comes to town January twenty fourth and
twenty fifth love to see at the Coal Center later
this month. Go tow Badgers dot com or call one
(02:12:37):
eight hundred Go Badgers for ticket information. And Michigan State
will return to action next weekend at Penn State, then
a home and home series with Michigan before hosting Minnesota
at the end of the month. Which team do you
think is the best team of the Big Ten? Is
it Minnesota or is it this Michigan State squad?
Speaker 3 (02:12:58):
Ah's so sure. I think that Minnesota has the scoring
power more so than Michigan State does. And you know,
I guess if you took Snugger Root out of their lineup,
that might be a big difference. Sure, But the fact
of the matter being is that Minnesota's got their record
for a reason. They've had quality goaltending, their defensemen are
(02:13:23):
really offensive minded, and their special teams are second to
none and so, and of course Snugger Root is pretty
much the key to that second or their power play
in particular.
Speaker 4 (02:13:37):
Well, we had a short break here and the ice
crew was out patching some holes and chips in the
ice surface here at Wrigley Field face off to come
at center ice just outside the Michigan State, so Lyndmark, Tassi,
Botteril Pallata, Chuck and Dex Sheimer for the Cardinal and
White stramble with Russell, Howard, Geary and Basketball for the
(02:14:00):
Green and White, and the puck comes trickling over the
blue line and golfed out over center into the Wisconsin
zone deck. Sheimer finally locates it, threw it to the
far wall, and then the Badger's able to jam it
through center. Now a foot race between Bottlerell and Bascal
Botterrell's got there first with a stick Lyndmark. Then Olk
skates taken away by Michigan State. Three on two to
(02:14:22):
our right. Russell in the middle of the ice left wing.
Now Howard, they're on side.
Speaker 3 (02:14:25):
He elects to shoot any scars.
Speaker 4 (02:14:28):
Isaac Howard beats Scarfhony, Michigan State regains the lead. It's
three to two.
Speaker 3 (02:14:34):
I feel bad for the defenseman on that play. That
was a good play by Howard. Don't get me wrong.
It was a three on two. Simon Tassey worked hard
to get back into the play, but it was just
a little bit too late, so the defenseman couldn't stump up,
step up and play the shooter. He had to kind
of play the angles, if you want to call it that,
(02:14:55):
and Howard just top shelf. No questions.
Speaker 4 (02:15:00):
They're leading score Hudson, Wisconsinatum Isaac Coward his thirteenth goal
of the season. It comes at seven point thirty two,
and so the Spartans, who led to nothing, now regain
the lead at three to two. It beats Scarfhony stick
side Isaac Coward, the Tampa Bay Lightning first round draft choice.
(02:15:21):
So now Wisconsin we'll have to rally again. Lodging his
own zone off the body of Horback, It goes to
the corner, lodged, slowed, flipped over to the far side.
Horback picks it up and skates ahead with it. Jack
Horback middle of the ice, left wing. Tyson Dick cuts
of the slot he's on his backhand, drops it off
down the shoals.
Speaker 3 (02:15:40):
There's traffic in front.
Speaker 4 (02:15:41):
Shot by shoal stop by to pass one following up
shoals back behind the net. It's loose and Zach will
run it down near side, turns and fires it around
the board to the right wing. Down the wall comes
failing shot right through the low slot, ricocheted back out
to the point in Shoals, He's pressured by a Larsen
and the puck trickles across center and the Badgers have
to touch up eleven thirty five to.
Speaker 3 (02:16:02):
Go on the third three to two.
Speaker 4 (02:16:04):
Michigan State Howard scores at seven thirty two to give
the Spartans the lead. Finley throws his body around right
in front of us and Michigan State back behind the
Wisconsin net. Scarfoni looks over his right shoulder min he's though,
trying to get some support. Instead, the puck slides free
and Wisconsin now has it again. Shoals headman pass got intercepted.
Here comes Kelly down the wall, cuts towards back behind
(02:16:27):
the net, turn around shot.
Speaker 3 (02:16:28):
It's loose to the right up.
Speaker 4 (02:16:29):
Scarfoni on his hands and knees eventually covers it up,
stopage and play eleven zero six left. In the third,
Spartans lead the Badgers three to two.
Speaker 3 (02:16:38):
Smart move, Tommy, you uh bucks free. Put that big
mitten of yours out there and grab it. When they're
scrambles in front of the net like that, I think
a goaltender must lose their mind. Yeah, not knowing who's
gonna get it, Who's gonna poke at it. Who's gonna
do whatever. But Badgers did a good job of keeping
(02:16:59):
people to the perim and allowing Scarfolony to.
Speaker 4 (02:17:01):
Make that, says Daniel Russell, the only assist on Howard's
goal at seven point thirty two of three to two
Michigan State lead. Badgers were playing so well, limiting Michigan
State's chances and then they score.
Speaker 3 (02:17:18):
From long range.
Speaker 4 (02:17:20):
Spartans try to force it towards the middle of the ice,
went off of Badger, still loosing to Wisconsin's zone. Deckheimer
after it reverses it back to Paladachuck moved it along
the kickplate and run down by Wisconsin's Fitzgerald. Sidesteps of
Spartan up to center, try to flip it deep and
bouncing puck. He's able to deflect it down, got interfered
with trying to get to the puck. He got wiped
(02:17:41):
out by a pair of Spartans, and then he gets
physical himself. Daniel Lot's coming in left true one right
through the low slot. Oh he walked right to the
net and instead of shooting, he tried to pass and
Wisconsin's I'm not sure if it was Wasskoski who was
covered if someone was covered right in front. Bouncing puck
again loose in front of the Michigan State net. Here's Botterrel.
(02:18:03):
Now he'll cycle back behind the cage for Linn Park
tried to draw it back to his backhand. Now he's
got it on his forehand. Pass slot Bottrel snapshot said
made the pass. Quo oh, good look by lind Mark
that time Bryan Botterrel out near center looked out, misplayed
the puck, almost copped it up. Lind Mark drops it
back to Bottrel in traffic, shoots one low that skipped
off the knee of the goldtender to the far side
(02:18:25):
wall and Piedla met thereby. D'Angelo Pietla fights through it.
It trickles off the kick plate and Falan sends it
back deep off the skate of Piedla out of D'Angelo
the Michigan State centerman. He flung it ahead and it's
rolling on edge but not strongly enough for icing, and
the Badgers set it back to neutral ice nine to
twenty left in the third three to two Michigan State.
(02:18:49):
Here's Faling now to Tyson. Dick batted off his stick
and Karen's right in the vicinity of scarfony and the
Badger's netminer gloves it and hangs on for a face off.
Very wisely, Isaac Coward, go ahead goal. It's seven thirty two.
Michigan State leads Wisconsin three to two. We'll take a
one minute break. This is Badger Hockey from Airfield. Badger
(02:19:14):
Hockey brought to you by rail Transport, off Bering, Exceptional
Transportation Services, truck driving jobs, CDL training, and so much
more across Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:19:23):
Learn more at rail dot Jobs.
Speaker 4 (02:19:26):
Let's pause ten seconds for station identification, ten seconds for
a legal ID. You're listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey along
with our producer Zach Hargrove Ian Perrin dancing trying to
stay warm here alongside the ice rank at Wrigley Field.
I'm Brian Posik, Michigan State with a three to two
lead on Wisconsin in nine ten left in the third.
Speaker 3 (02:19:49):
Well, it's been pretty even I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
Not.
Speaker 3 (02:19:53):
He emphasized the fact that they just gave up a
goal and make it three to two. Yeah, but it's
been pretty evenly played as far as scoring opportunity or
concerned shots are concerned. But it just seems to go
in waves yeah, you know, five minutes, Badgers are a
dominant and then next five minutes Michigan State is. It's
a little weird.
Speaker 4 (02:20:15):
Yeah, Michigan State was awfully quiet for a long stretch,
and then all of a sudden, Russell leads a three
on two and Howard finishes from the left wing exactly
their top line back out against Wisconsin's top line. Stram
will get a little anxious and will be kicked out
of the face off circle or no, yes he will.
(02:20:37):
Russell will step in for him, face off to the
right of Scarfhony. Thirty twenty seven shots on goal in
favor of Michigan State and they've got a three to
two lead. Spartans were up to nothing. Badgers rallied to
tie it on goals from Morrissey and Finley and then
Howard with the go ahead goal. Badgers come out of
their own zone. Finley will back handed ahead. Didn't get
(02:20:58):
much Mustard on that for Moseley. Finley will try again.
Moseley able to poke it past Gucciardi, but quickly back
Howard together from Michigan State, Pad managed to stramle at
the red line.
Speaker 3 (02:21:08):
He'll dump it in fighting through Rylan Moseley and.
Speaker 4 (02:21:13):
The puck back out at center ice and then Gucciardi
will dump it in again.
Speaker 8 (02:21:19):
Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (02:21:20):
After the talk, Finley turned it over look out Russell
his shot covered by Scarphoni after he made the stop.
Padris turn it over. Now Howard and Finley need to
be separated. Wisconsin's Hornback is getting after it with Charlie Stramwell,
two former teammates. Finley with a bad turnover in the
Wisconsin zone, Russell had a chance to extend Michigan State's lead.
Speaker 3 (02:21:43):
Yeah, that was kind of a weird bounce, but I
think Finley thought there was more there than there was.
Ye skate on it. He shot that left Pad out
in a hurry base off.
Speaker 4 (02:22:00):
The team still battling for it. Johnson can't clear the zone.
They'll try again as Shul send it behind the net.
Speaker 3 (02:22:08):
Care can't reach it.
Speaker 4 (02:22:10):
Spartans have it doorwards cycles they throw it out to
the point. Geary long range shot knocked down in front
of the badger's cage. Now Wisconsin able to get it
out to center, picked up by Jack Krback. He'll dump
and chase, but Geary will get there first. From Michigan
State rebursed it far side to give to a Basco
up to center, good back check by shoulder steel and
(02:22:30):
dump it deep again. Badgers get a change seven fifty
five to go. In the third, it's three two Michigan
States shoals will bank it out to center, intercept it
there by the Spartans and there's no offside. According to
that Red Savage carried it to the Badger net and
Scarfoni just protected the post. Buck comes up into the
(02:22:52):
State zone now Kuchen and leans in on Lukashevich, kicks
it free to his forehand, looks for someone to release it.
Pass comes out to the point, long range shot Plata
chuck it hits something in front into the lap of
Uh the pass quo and then knocked to the corner
and a whistle stopped play.
Speaker 3 (02:23:08):
Yeah, that one was going right into his glove and
it hit something. I think it was a Badger forward
who was in front had hit him and ended up
deflecting into the belly of the Michigan State goaltender and
to no avail. But the Badgers have had good when
they have been offensive pressure. It's been sustained for longer
than it was in the first and second period.
Speaker 4 (02:23:30):
Lynn Mark Bottle old Tassi out there for Wisconsin. Badgers
win the draw. Pilata Chuck bumps it off the end boards.
After it is Lynn Bark on his backhand cycles to
the corner in bottlerel returns the favor back to the
near side corner. Tassy gives Chase but Kelly there from
Michigan State loose puck Bottlerel after it. Tassy got his
stick down, but Orbits takes it away for the Spartans
(02:23:51):
at Man's to Manisto and he'll scoop it in under
seven minutes to go in regulation three to two. Michigan
State Badgers had played thirteen to one goal games this
season and lost eight of them. They've been in every
game and they're in this one here. Can they make
a player too and pull this thing out? Here at
Wrigley Field a lot of chuck at center, Tassy and
(02:24:13):
Lindmark don't communicate. Tassy eventually decides, h and I'll take
it myself and dumps it down in the Michigan State
easy breakout here they come. D'Angelo right side. Took a
hit from Moseley as he dumps it into the Wisconsin
zone and taken back by the Badgers. Morrissey after it
in the left corner of the attacking zone. Morrissey lifts
the puck for himself, now cycles off the boards for Latch,
(02:24:34):
who stumbles a bit. Morrisey picks it up. His shot
got through and the PASCO saw it through traffic and
gloved it and hung on Moseley right there in vicinity,
trying to take the goalie's eyes away and look for.
Speaker 3 (02:24:47):
Any rebound that there is. If you added up all
the goals that Ryan Moseley has scored as a Badger,
I would say that ninety percent of them are either
great passes to him when he's opening the slot, or
re bound garbage stuff that he's in the right place,
excuse me, right place at the right time.
Speaker 4 (02:25:05):
Horsey against Strammell in the face off circle and Morrissey
won the draw. Here's Daniel Lonch setting up Finley immediately
double teamed and shot one through traffic. May have gotten
through off the right knee of the pass. Quo twirling
passed by Lodge to Morrissey.
Speaker 3 (02:25:18):
His shot block down.
Speaker 4 (02:25:20):
The boards, comes care kicked it back behind the nets.
Anthony Kerr hustling after it farside. Michigan State tried to
clear intercept it. Badgers hold Morrissey's shot that got knocked
down and then golfed out to centerized by Bascal. Russell
picks up the loose change across the Badger line, hit
the brakes and fell down. Five forty left in the
(02:25:41):
third Badgers need one to tie. Twinn Finley leaves it
off for care up to center. Now here's Horback waddles
his way into the attacking zone. Cross eyes pass for
Finley deflected by the Spartans out to center a lot
of chuck. Picks it up, gains the line and dumps
it in. There is the defenseman orbits near sign plenty
(02:26:03):
of room for Michigan State, but Wes coughed it up.
Tyson dick with it, trying to stick Hndle around Larson,
no luck to Pasco comes well out of his net,
fires it off the high glass. Palatachuk held his own,
and then Larson kicked it out the center. He then
runs into the linesman, who wants to get the heck
out of there. And I don't blame it, and now
Michigan stayed up to center. They hand off the door
work off his stick. Dexzheimer for Wisconsin. He and door
(02:26:27):
Work go into the end boards under five minutes to go.
In regulation, Spartan's lead by a one backhand shot blocked
by the Badgers Goosbucks still Badger's battling for it near
the front of the Badger's cage. Slow moving outlet pass
deflected back deep into the Wisconsin zone. Now Wisconsin will
(02:26:47):
take it away a little beneaset to it. The red
line sends it right back Wisconsin's way, and then a
headman passed by Dexheimer two strong icing called on Wisconsin
three to two, Michigan State four to twenty eight to
go here in the third.
Speaker 3 (02:27:01):
Unfortunately, Tyson Dick is going to be the only person
that has to come back out that was on the
original five that came out. He's had about a minute
fifteen second shift and he gets caught on this icing
without being able to make a change, So he might
be the only fatigued player out there.
Speaker 4 (02:27:19):
Christian Fitzgerald against Tiern in shouty face off to the
right of Scarfoni. Starfhoni has stopped twenty nine of thirty
two shots. Tonight, Badgers win the face off. Kuchanin protects
backhands to center. That's where Andrews has it. He banks
it off the glass to Kukanin. Then he lost the
puck and it's sent back into the Wisconsin zone and
(02:27:39):
Scarfoni leaves it off for dex Heimen. Four to ten left.
Who's gonna get the game time goal for the Cardinal
and White.
Speaker 3 (02:27:47):
I'd put my money on twelve if I was a
betting man.
Speaker 4 (02:27:51):
Fitzgerald over skates at center, bouncing puck back towards Loskowski,
who leans into an eaves dough to protect the puck
in the Badger's care, has it, fires a pass ahead
to kuchin In, who banks it off the glass and
deep into the Michigan state zone. They move it to
the nearest side and lind Mark, in on the fore check,
steals the puck.
Speaker 3 (02:28:11):
Good play.
Speaker 4 (02:28:12):
Couchanon out to launch, not sure what to do with it,
lost the buck and Eskates had it poked pasted it
by Kelly, but lind Mark hustles back to.
Speaker 3 (02:28:19):
Save his teammate.
Speaker 4 (02:28:22):
Watch was a little indecisive when he got that puck
out here at the right point. Now Daniel will dump
it in.
Speaker 3 (02:28:27):
Yeah, do I shoot or do I pass?
Speaker 4 (02:28:29):
And indecision hurts three nineteen lefts van Saggi de flex
towards the badger bench. Wisconsin's deck Sheimer got there first.
Morrissey dumps it in, passing in on the foe check.
Michigan State got to it first and clear Badger's back
at center. They've touched up Bottrel across the line. Weak
(02:28:50):
shot partially blocked by Stramel. West then ran into traffic.
Botterrel with it in the corner, double team by a
pair of Spartans trying to jam it free from Morrissey,
who pulls it off the wall sends it back to
the corner top angle chop by bottrel, deflected by the
passco goes to the far side in bottrel to forty
five to go. On the third, Badgers need one to
(02:29:10):
tie Morsey with it. Left Wing stops and looks lifts
a pass to the far corner mostly after it, but
he's cut off by Lukashevich and Michigan State skates out
through center. Now Stramle his shot low of the ice,
easy sticks saved for Scarfohony to twenty five to go.
In the third, Wisconsin's pulanachuck Headman's now to Finley with
(02:29:32):
speed Finley splits a pair of Spartans. He's on sign
right side. He dumps it into the corner, gives chase,
cuts back to his right puck crawls off his stick,
lift it out to center by Andrews and Daniel loatchwill
hustle after it. Now his pass deflex Shoal will chase
it down at center, send it back to the Michigan
state zone and the Spartans pick it up doorward. Now
(02:29:54):
little Gibb and Go didn't connect. Badgers back in their
own zone. Care spun around, lost the puck to Savage
in the corner. Savage tried to center it, it went
off the stick. Now left angled shot that was blocked
door Wart able to play a deep right down the
middle comes Savage.
Speaker 3 (02:30:11):
Chance to win it, and oh he got stoned by Scarfhony.
Speaker 4 (02:30:14):
He could have extended that lead to tube, but Scarfoni
closed the door with his right bad all right, so
Scarfoni comes up big. Can the Badger's offense do something here?
With ninety seconds to play, Here comes Lindmark with a
head of steam. He cuts off his Spartan, steals the
puck for Tyson Dick. Scarfhoni out of his net for
(02:30:34):
an extra attacker. Puck pumped out to center. Badgers have
an extra skater, they need one to tie. Seventy seconds
left in regulation, Morrissey darts past one Spartan and then
coughed it up. It bounces around near the blue line
in Michigan State's Larsen whacked it all the way down
and ice the puck. Now Findleyam and Easto going at it.
Those two combatants in the World Junior Championship last year,
(02:30:56):
Vanisto with Finland and Finley with the gold many medal
winning Americans. Badgers have a time out one to two
to play. Here in regulation, it's three two Michigan State. Yeah,
I'm not sure you've got momentum on your side. I'm
not one hundred percent sure that.
Speaker 3 (02:31:13):
This would be Well, maybe they are going to take
their time out because the first line was just out there.
Now the they pulled the goaltender, the first line's coming
back again. Give them a little bit of a breather,
see what they can do. And I would assume that
the extra attacker will be lind Mark in case there's
a draw situation. That would be my guestimate. If I
(02:31:37):
guess you want to call it that. Yep, he's out there.
Speaker 4 (02:31:40):
Looks like it'll be the power play unit dex Seimer, Finley, Morrissey, Moseley, Liskonsky,
and then lind Mark will be the extra attacker. Well.
Michigan State had a one nothing lead after one on
defenseman Vladyslav Lukashevich's first career goal. Spartan six extended their
(02:32:00):
lead to two to nothing on Daniel Russell's goal at
four to twenty nine. Badgers got within one on Gavin
Morrissey's goal from Anthony Ker at ten to seventeen to
seventh goal of the year for Morrissey, and then Quinn
Finley is nation's best sixteenth goal at fourteen thirty five
of the second from Poladachuck and Moseley made it a
two to two game, but then a three on two.
(02:32:23):
Badgers had not given up many odd man rushes tonight,
and there was a three on two and Russell found
Howard on the left wing, and their top goal scorer,
their top point producer, came through and he got the
go ahead goal, did Howard at seven thirty two, and
that's where we are. Three to two, Michigan State one
oh two to play is that his second was the
(02:32:45):
name Howard's no just a first first Yep. Russell scored
lukashevish Russell and Howard yep. And Howard's a guy that
you know. He scored a He scored a goal now
in four straight games as Isaac Howard. He had the
game winning goal in overtime in Madison back in December,
(02:33:06):
and then he scored the game tying goal on Thursday
in East Lansing. And here he gets the go ahead
goal in the third. Well, there's some ice repair going
on right in the neutral zone, and so that's why
there's a bit of a delay. This game started forty
five minutes later than originally scheduled for eight o'clock. It's
(02:33:29):
eleven sixteen Central time. The winds are still blowing off
of Lake Michigan. Yeah, you can feel it.
Speaker 3 (02:33:37):
This is the first time that I can say that
I have honestly felt the breeze. And I didn't realize
it until all my papers blew off the table. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:33:46):
Still a lot of fans still here tonight watching a
pretty good college hockey game in Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:33:52):
In Michigan State, Well, they treated to a dandy. They've
both teams have scraped like you wouldn't believe.
Speaker 4 (02:34:00):
Let's see if they can get a goal. Here's Lynn
Mark to take the face off against dor Wartz to
the left of the Passuo, who stopped twenty nine of
thirty one. Badger bids here tonight and Mark Win's to draw.
They bounce it out to the point in Dexzheimer to
left wing. Finley back to Dezheimer, swings at left side Morrissey,
(02:34:21):
Morrisey looking straightaway now dex Sheimer. Fifty four seconds to
go in the hockey game. Here's Finley now right wing,
shoots one low backside. Mosey stores hay rilin Mosey.
Speaker 3 (02:34:33):
From Quinn Finley. The Badgers pull even. It's tied to three. Yes,
that was about as well executed a play in college
hockey as you're gonna see. Ryan Moseley never left the
side of the net. All that stuff that went on
(02:34:54):
at the top of the circles between Dexheimer and back
over here here to Moseley and out of nowhere, Ryan
Moseley just seems to disappear in the crowd and he
is wide open.
Speaker 4 (02:35:08):
Rylan Moseley. He gets his eleventh goal of the season.
It comes at nineteen twelve of the third period and
Wisconsin and Michigan State are even at three. Finley Moseley, Morrissey,
Karen Lotch on the ice now for Wisconsin, Scarfoni back
between the pipes. They lob one all the way down
(02:35:30):
to the Wisconsin z own launch after it picks it
up and skates ahead with it. Banks a pass ahead
to Moseley. He backhanded one deep, no icing Finley with speed,
trying to run it down.
Speaker 3 (02:35:39):
Back behind the net.
Speaker 4 (02:35:40):
Oh he gets roughed up by Andrews with a pretty
good check. Morrison a near Steele left wing. Michigan State
throws it out to center dex Sheimer picks it up
and dumps it right back down in fourteen seconds to
go in regulation, three to three game. Here's Andrews head
man pass cut off at the blue line by Pulana
Chuck Luke whose bucket center three seconds, two seconds, picked
(02:36:03):
up by Morrisey one second, looks at the clock, can't
get a shot off and we are ahead of the
overtime and Ray Field Rylan Moseley from Quinn Finley at
nineteen twelve an extra attacker goal.
Speaker 3 (02:36:18):
It's a three to three game. I'm gonna have to
be judgmental on the Badgers. I'm freezing to death here
and not taking it to overtime. But the fact that
you were down three to two with four minutes left
and you came back to tie it, I'll give him
credit for that one. That was a beautiful play.
Speaker 4 (02:36:37):
That was beautiful Zach Hargrove. Do we have a one
minute commercial break to take third period play by play?
Speaker 3 (02:36:43):
We do.
Speaker 4 (02:36:43):
Let's take a one minute break, well, one minute network timeout.
It's a three to three game here at Wrigley Field.
This is Badger hockey from Airfield Fife. Well, like the
first game, today, we're headed to overtime. The top rank
Wisconsin women lost in a shootout to say ranked Ohio
State this afternoon. Here the Wisconsin men fource overtime against
(02:37:05):
top rank Michigan State on Ryland Moseley's goal at nineteen
twelve from Quinn Finley and Ben Deckzheimer that followed Isaac
Howard's go ahead goal at seven point thirty two is
thirteenth of the year. From Daniel Russell. Shots on goal
in the third period eleven to ten in favor of
Michigan State. Tommy Scarfoni ten saves in the third, thirty
(02:37:27):
two saves for the game. Luca the pass quotes stopped
nine shots in the third, twenty nine saves for the
passco through sixty minutes of play three on three sudden
victory overtime. Wisconsin comes out with Morrissey, Finley and deck Sheimer.
Michigan State has Stramel Howard and the defenseman Nicholas Andrews.
(02:37:52):
Badgers will skate left to right here in this three
on three overtime Warrissey against Finley to take the draw
and the Badgers win the face off to the stick
of Ben deck Szeimer.
Speaker 3 (02:38:01):
Possession so key in three on three over time. Yeah,
and watch your changes. He's the big issue for me.
Speaker 4 (02:38:09):
Morsey right wing, dex Sheimer across the line. Morrisey in
front of the net, receives the pass from deck Szeimer,
cut off behind the cage. Strainer ties him up. Now
it's a battle for the loose puck. Finley comes in
to support his teammate. Two on two below the goal line,
Finley still trying to work it free. Morrissey can't reach it,
Andrew's able to get it up the wall with the
Badger's steel. Here's dex Shimer puts a shot on he
(02:38:31):
got blocked, then a chance down low right by Morrissey,
kicked out by the pasquo, and now Michigan State controls.
The Badgers send out Linn Mark, Moseley and the defenseman
Daniel Latch. Michigan State has changed, although Howard remains on
a long shift. To start overtime, there's door Ward out
(02:38:51):
there with Andrews, who's been out there for quite some time.
Daniel Latch wins the battle on the near side from
Howard stick candling and drops it off the Linn Mark
center ice the captain across the line. Oh when lind
Mark right wing shoots one stop made by the passo,
it goes to the corner and Lotch trying to win
it free for the Badgers. Lind Mark behind the net
he got knocked down. Back up on his skates, still
(02:39:12):
battling for the loose pocket, throws a wild pass out
through the high slot all the way back Wisconsin's way.
What it does though it Scarfoni plays it. Daniel Latch
was the only one on the ice and so he
picks up the puck and the Badgers half possession three
and a half minutes left in overtime.
Speaker 3 (02:39:28):
Lots needs a change.
Speaker 4 (02:39:30):
Here come Fitzgerald, with speed across the line, takes it
right wing, ran into traffic, gave the puck. Now the
Pullata Chuck puts it in front, stick to side, by
the passco to the corner. Finley out there again for
the Badgers. Now Michigan State takes the puck three ten
to go. Russell's got it for the Spartans, drops it
for Bascal Bascal, right handed defenseman across the line looking
(02:39:54):
drops it back. Russell steps in his shot blocked off
the stick of Finley regathered by Russell, and he'll skate
back to center as the Spartans will change two thirds
of their skaters. Now a full the change here and
across the line.
Speaker 3 (02:40:07):
Joey Larson hard of.
Speaker 4 (02:40:08):
The net look out in tight Scarfoni stopped the bid
by shouty and then Polanachuck went into his netminder and
the cage, knocking it off its moorings and a stoppage
and play with two forty six left and overtime three
to three. Game oh Morrissey had a chance down low right.
The Pascal had his pads together made the stop and
(02:40:29):
then a nice give and go a moment ago where
Shouty went hard and then at for Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (02:40:33):
Did gosh hard to the net. But I'll give Joe
Polanichuck all the credit in the world. He stayed with
him as long as he could. And uh, it ends
up that the face off will be in the Badger
zone simply because of the fact that Joe Polanichuk was
the guy who knocked the net off its tourings.
Speaker 4 (02:40:50):
We've got a one minute time out. We'll keep it here.
Actually one minute time out here and overtime. It's a
three to three hockey game Wrigley Field in Chicago, and
actually they're attending to some ice issues.
Speaker 3 (02:41:05):
Yeah, I think they can't get the marsh peg back
into the hole. So this gentleman from the ice drink
is gonna come out here and fish all that garbage
out of the hole itself, U huh and put the
peg back in. And you watch he'll do it in
about fifteen seconds. And the referee stood there for a
minute figure out how to do it.
Speaker 4 (02:41:26):
Although here comes someone sprinting out with a drill. Oh lord,
now this is bike fine type stuff. The young man
that does a lot of stuff at the Coal Center
in Labon Arena with power tools to try to get
the pegs of the cages back down properly or cleaned
out properly.
Speaker 3 (02:41:47):
And I've said this a thousand times on every broadcast
I've ever made. Thank Goodness for the marsh pegs that
under pressure do come off, and the old when they
were a steel pipe, that would have been somebody's head
hanging there off the end of that pipe.
Speaker 4 (02:42:07):
Badgers have Linn Mark and Morrissey defensive zone face off
with Dexzheimer three on three overtime. Lin Mark won the
draw and he dex Sheimer sends it back to Morrissey.
Now Ben's got it and he'll take a look. As
he skates out of his own zone. Ben dex Sheimer
flips a pass across Morrissey, will run it down over skates.
Now controls two and a half minutes left and overtime.
(02:42:28):
Gary is on him. Immediately, he'll pump it off the
end boards back to Lynn, Mark and Owen. Now we'll
leave it off for Morrissey and sprint up the middle.
He gets a breakaway pass from Morrissey, although the Spartans recover.
Lind Mark tries to lean in on Gucciardi and he
lost possession, taken away by the Spartan's Joey Larson, big
right hander off to his right, across the line shot.
Speaker 3 (02:42:49):
He goes to the net.
Speaker 4 (02:42:49):
Larson can't feed him the puck because he was cut
off by Finley, who then lifts the stick of Larson
and forced the puck back to neutral ice. Two minutes
left in overtime, it's three to three. Watch cuts off Howard.
There's Moseley to pick up the loose pock, slides it
across underneath the stick of Finley, although he'll hustle after
it and gather it in and skate it back behind
(02:43:10):
his dead Finley, the nation's leading goal scorer in one
of the fastest skaters in college hockey. Here comes Anthony
Kerr for his first shift of overtime. He's out there
with Moseley and Finley.
Speaker 3 (02:43:23):
Quinn.
Speaker 4 (02:43:24):
Finley right by the benches, pushed it to the corner,
gets around Bascal and we'll run it down. Finley behind
the net, slowed with a hip check. Puck sports free
and Howard goes to get it. Stramer will fly up
a right wing wall and catch us. Here he comes
across the line mostly on him Stramlell's finning pass.
Speaker 3 (02:43:40):
Here's Howard's shot blocked by Care. Oh goodness.
Speaker 4 (02:43:43):
Now back behind the nets, Moseley protects from Strammeel, fights
through the stick seck and hands off to Care One
to oh, five to go in overtime, three to three game,
Care taking his time, Fitzgerald and horback. Now out in
the ice, comes Christian Fitzgerald with speed across the red line,
(02:44:04):
across the Michigan State line, slowed along the boards, wiped out,
puck taken away by the Spartans. Forty five seconds left
and overtime long lead feet played with a high stick
by Andrews. He plays the puck, whistle stop play face
off coming up with forty seconds left and overtime, and.
Speaker 3 (02:44:22):
The face off will be down in the Michigan State
zone because of the high stick by a Michigan State player. Yeah,
who played it in the offensive zone. The face off
comes down. So with thirty oh what are they running
the well?
Speaker 4 (02:44:36):
Yeah, the clock was at forty seconds exactly, and now
a timeout called by Michigan State. You get a time
out in overtime and Adam Nightingale elects to take his
Here in ot the clock should read forty seconds. Right now,
the overtime clock says thirty seven point five seconds.
Speaker 3 (02:44:58):
Yeah, because it was at forty and they ran it
down to thirty seven point five.
Speaker 4 (02:45:03):
I'm not sure if there was a review what now
they're putting one minute up just as a time out
the length of the timeout. So it looks like Wisconsin's
going to go with Morrissey Dick and Deckzheimer and Michigan
State will go with Kelly Monisto and Andrews. A three
(02:45:24):
to three game, Rylan Moseley game time goal with forty
eight seconds left in regulation on a feed from Quinn Finley.
Eleventh goal of the year from Moseley made it a
three to three game.
Speaker 3 (02:45:36):
Well, regardless of the outcome here in the last forty
seconds or whatever it is, there's about thirty twenty or
thirty thousand people who have seen everything that there is
to offer as far as college hockey is concerned. And
again to review, I think we've only had one penalty.
One penalty all game.
Speaker 4 (02:45:55):
Yeah, that was came with ten seconds left in the
first period.
Speaker 3 (02:45:58):
That's it. Yeah, eleven point seven second left and since
that time, it's been clean, fast paced, hard hitting college hockey.
Speaker 4 (02:46:09):
Actually, they'll bring lynn Mark out with Morrissey and Dexheimer
for this offensive zone face off. Morrissey will stand between
the circles, Dexheimer at the right point. Three on three overtime,
forty seconds left, lynn Mark lost the draw out of shouting,
and Andrews has it back behind his own net. Lynn
(02:46:32):
Mark will stay on him. Manda Man shouting, skates past Andrews,
who takes the puck himself, flips a pass ahead of
right wing shouting across the line. Lin Mark catches up
and almost took the fuck away. Now he bats it
off the wall, but Andrews goes to get it. Twenty
seconds to play. Russell in the attacking zone. Pass out
to the near side. It's Howard catches at the blue line,
(02:46:52):
lind Mark on him. Quick shot save made by Scarfoni
batted to the wall. Lind Mark shipped ahead, Morrissey can't
reach it. Seven seconds to go. Look out, Russell just undressed.
Speaker 3 (02:47:01):
Lind Mark looking.
Speaker 4 (02:47:02):
Backside sliding block shot Texheimer b They score in rick
ischete off.
Speaker 3 (02:47:08):
Of Badger and underneath scar Phony.
Speaker 4 (02:47:12):
Michigan State wins with one point four left on the
overtime clock.
Speaker 3 (02:47:19):
Holy moly, that is one of the most dynamic overtime
wins and losses that the Badgers have ever been involved with.
It was just a mad scramble with one point four
seconds left and shovel it at the net that things
(02:47:39):
are going to happen for Michigan State the overtime winner
with one point four seconds left.
Speaker 4 (02:47:46):
In overtime, green and white fireworks being fired off Here
at Wrigley Field, the top ranked team of the country
let their third period leads slip away, but then score
one point four seconds left on the clock.
Speaker 3 (02:48:03):
The Spartans walk out.
Speaker 4 (02:48:05):
Of here with a four to three win at the
Frozen Confines in Chicago.
Speaker 3 (02:48:13):
H that's a hard pill to swallow.
Speaker 4 (02:48:17):
It wasn't It wasn't a pretty goal.
Speaker 3 (02:48:19):
You got back so hard, And if it would have
been an error by someone in a one on one
play or whatever, it would be a lot easier to
follow than if you turned around. Then you know, I'm
glad it was a scramble goal and not one of
those ones where somebody fell down and made a bad
(02:48:42):
play whatever. At least in a scrambled goal you have
a fifty to fifty shot of getting it out of
there or whatever you'd like to say.
Speaker 4 (02:48:51):
And after seeing the video replay, dex Sheimer had blocked
the shot. It trickled underneath Ben and Russell was right
on the doorstep and actually a little backhand shot short
side on Scarfony and that's the game winning goal. Daniel
Russell two goals today, including the game winner with one
point four seconds left, and Michigan State knocks off Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:49:14):
Four to three. Tough pill to swallow because the Badgers
did everything to stay in it, to make it a
three to three tie, and then all of a sudden,
that one little chip play ends up being one a
loss instead of a tie, or a win instead of
a tie.
Speaker 4 (02:49:34):
The Badger's now two six and one in overtime, they
suffer their ninth one goal loss of the season. Michigan
State four Wisconsin three. Our postgame show is coming up.
This is Badger Hockey from Miirfield.
Speaker 1 (02:49:48):
Badger Hockey has been brought to you by a Liont Energy.
Alliant Energy is powering Beyond for you and by American
Family Insurance Insure Carefully Dream Tearless League. Welcome for the
Venger postgame show.
Speaker 4 (02:50:05):
Parn Bryant Posik tough loss for the Wisconsin Badgers. They
were down two to nothing, tied it down three two
in the final minute of regulation. Tie it had a
couple of chances in overtime, and then Michigan State scores.
With one point four seconds left on the clock. Daniel
Russell picks up a loose puck and back hands it
(02:50:26):
short side on Scarfoni to win it, and so Michigan
State improves to seventeen to two and one eight one
and one in the Big Ten, best start for the
Spartans since the two thousand and two thousand and one season.
The Badgers falled in nine to twelve and one, five
and nine in league play, and they lose the season
series to the top ranked team.
Speaker 3 (02:50:45):
Of the country. Yeah, and it's it's a tough pill
to swallow, especially for the fact that they came from behind.
They came from behind. They came from behind every time.
And you think that, okay, if we can run the
clock out, at least we've got the tie. Everything's in
good shape. But you played till the end of the game,
and that's one point four seconds or twenty four point
(02:51:08):
four seconds. It's still an overtime loss.
Speaker 4 (02:51:11):
Yeap a tough one to take for the Badgers, their
ninth one goal loss this season, their sixth overtime loss
this season as well. Again, they've been in pretty much
every game, but their record at nine to twelve and
one not indicative really of a type of hockey they
played at times this season. Let's name our three Stars
(02:51:32):
of the game, brought to you by Everlight Solars Saved Money,
Save the Planet. Start with Everlight Solar. Who do you
have in well, the first star of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:51:41):
For the first time in my career, I'm going to
give it to a Michigan State players. Some guy named
Russell came up with two goals and one is the
winner in overtime. There's not much you can say about
his game that's incomplete, and he was always around the buck.
He was around the net at all times, and for
whatever reason, he seems to have that I call it
(02:52:02):
the Rylan Molesley effect around the net. He's able to
chip him in, kick him in, do whatever he wants.
Two goals in a four to three overtime victory, Russell
gets the first Star of the game. Second Star of
the game I gave to Morrissey of Wisconsin, simply because
of the fact that he had double shifted several times
(02:52:26):
in overtime, and I was really impressed with how he
had good puck control and he came up with that
one big assist that was I would consider one of
the prettiest goals that the Badgers have scored all year.
And the third one I gave to Rylan Moseley just
for the expression when he came running over to us
(02:52:47):
when he scored that goal. He was so happy. I thought,
good for you, young man. But we're getting used to
that Rylan Moseley scoring a goal in a tight game
with an as Morrissey. Yeah, it's kind of the way
it is.
Speaker 4 (02:53:02):
So we go Russell Morrissey, Lan Mosley, and Moseley scored
his ninth goal in thirteen. In the last thirteen games,
he had a two point day and now over one
hundred points for his collegiate career. So again, our three
stars of the game brought to you by everlight solar
energizing performance of the game. Up next, Badger's falling overtime
to Michigan State here at Wrigley Field for three. This
(02:53:25):
is Badger hockey from their field well, it was a
nice thought that your daughter bought you a battery operated
heated vest, but should nearly more than a three hour
life limit for the heated best. Yes, Yes, let's get
(02:53:46):
to our energizing performance of the game, brought to you
by a lie and energy powering beyond for you.
Speaker 3 (02:53:51):
Ian, Well, I'll tell you what the second goal that
the Badger scored. I was so impressed with the play
of Anthony Kerr. Not only did he leave the blue
line and go goal line extended in the offensive zone,
got his own rebound, dished it out of the corner
and with Mosley in front, kind of obstructing the goaltender,
(02:54:11):
if you will, he comes around the net and puts
a perfect pass onto Quinn Finley's stick. And it was
a beautiful goal. But all the offense that the defenseman,
the offensive play, the offensive play of the defenseman was
kind of spearheaded by that play. And it's the last
(02:54:33):
person on the team that I would have thought would
have been the offensive minded. It would have been Anthony Kererr.
But he just after they got that goal, they just
seemed to be on a total different planet.
Speaker 4 (02:54:44):
That's the energizing performance of the game. Badger's fallen over
time to Michigan State here at Wrigley Field for three
scores from around the country. Up next, this is Badger
hockey from Airfield back here at the Frozen Confines, a
Wrigley Field Michigan State of three overtime win over the
Wisconsin Badgers. Earlier today on this very same surface, the
(02:55:07):
top rank Wisconsin Women and second ranked Ohio State went
at it went to overtime, Kelly Gorbtenko scored the game
time goal for the Wisconsin women late in regulation, scoreless overtime,
and then Ohio State won in a shootout. So Mark
Johnson's club is twenty one and one this season and
returns to action next weekend at home against Minnesota State.
(02:55:32):
As far as Division one men's college hockey, let's get
to the Desert Hockey Classic in Arizona.
Speaker 3 (02:55:37):
That would have been a.
Speaker 4 (02:55:38):
Nice place to be, don't you think been a lot
more fun than here. The consolation game, Massachusetts shut out
Robert Morris eight nothing, and Arizona State won its own
tournament by beating Cornell a four zip. At the Coachella
Valley Cactus Cup in California, Michigan Tech won the Consolation
(02:55:58):
beat Holy Cross and overtime four to three, and in
the championship game, UMass Lowell a three to one win.
A three to one lead on Omaha. That's in the
third period of play Atlantic Hockey. Tonight's Air Force shutout
Sacred Heart three nothing. Niagara beat Bentley four to two
in the ECAC. This evening, RPI a four to three
(02:56:19):
win over Brown and Union beat Yale four to three.
One game in the CCHA, Bowling Green knocked off Lake
Superior State three to one. Bowling Green swept that two
game series. Non conference action, Northeastern a five to one
win over Quinnipiac, Connecticut outscored Harvard seven to three. Vermont
(02:56:40):
blew out Saint Lawrence eight to one. New Hampshire a
four to three win over Princeton. Saint Thomas doubled up
Lyndenwood four to two. Alaska a two to one overtime
win at Minnesota Duluth August Stana completed a sweep in Colorado.
Springs beat the c C Tigers three to two. Today,
Michigan of five to win over Alaska, Anchorage and Maine
(02:57:03):
two Denver one top five teams split that series in Orono, Maine.
Both teams winning by two to one counts.
Speaker 3 (02:57:14):
Well, it's it's kind of a surprise think about it.
But then again, if you look at the fact that
Denver lost to UNLV the weekend before, you kind of
wonder if the sales are a little bit empty of
wind out there. But then you realize that they're head
coaches at the World Juniors, and yeah, things change when
(02:57:35):
the main guy isn't calling sho, I bet, I bet.
Speaker 4 (02:57:38):
Also in non conference action, Minnesota beat Mercy Hurst five
to two at Mariuchi Arena. Jimmy Snuggerut and Ryan Chesley
both had a goal and an assist as the Gophers
improved to seventeen to three and two. And at the
World Junior Championships, the United States beat checky A four
to one and Finland knocked off sweet in overtime four
(02:58:01):
to three. So the United States will play Finland for
the gold medal tomorrow night at six thirty Central on
the NHL Network. Wisconsin freshman defenseman Logan Henzler with a
chance to win a gold medal. The United States the
defending champs, and.
Speaker 3 (02:58:16):
Rightfully so, I mean, it's one of those deals where
I don't think anybody realized how good Finland wash and
then when they had their overtime win against Canada and
blah blah blah blah blah. You just get into a
situation where I think the tides have changed. North American
U eighteens, if you want to call it n or
(02:58:37):
juniors are getting caught up to by Finland, Sweden, Czechoslovakia
or wherever you want to talk about.
Speaker 4 (02:58:47):
Sure, So here Wisconsin falls in overtime to Michigan State
four to three the final. We'll have highlights coming up
in a moment. This is Badger hockey from Leirfields Jacka
Wrigley Field in Chicago. Game of the Big Ten Hockey
series of the Frozen Confines Wisconsin and top rank Michigan State.
These teams had met Thursday at mon Arena. Badgers had
(02:59:09):
a two goal lead but lost in regulation four to three.
Here tonight, Michigan State built a two goal lead, but
the Badgers rallied. It was a fun game, especially down
the stretch. Here are the calls of the game. Gets
chase but Latch nice work with his body to get positioned,
can't clear out high lukashava from one Ranchy scores through
(02:59:33):
a series of players wearing white and red. The defenseman
Vladislaw Luclas Savich with his first collegiate goal. The freshman
from Russia gives Michigan statea.
Speaker 3 (02:59:48):
Won nothing league.
Speaker 4 (02:59:49):
Head Man's to Howard to flex it deep into the
Wisconsin z oone. Scarfoni paddles it around all the way
out to the point and orbits He's shot one rebound
put in by Russell. I'll org from the right point
and hit the right pad of Scarfoni, And there was
Daniel Russell able to pick up the garbage and tucket
past Scarfonia to nothing. Michigan State lead. Badgers win the
(03:00:12):
face off. Anthony Kertuf angles shot stop by the passbo.
It's loose in front, bounce back behind the nets. Oh
the passcot couldn't look hate the puck and now.
Speaker 3 (03:00:20):
The Badger's score. Gavin Morrissey.
Speaker 4 (03:00:24):
Gavin Morrissey beats the passbo the Badgers on the board.
Speaker 3 (03:00:28):
Down to one.
Speaker 4 (03:00:29):
Here's dex Seimer right side, Palata Chuck looking and shooting,
and it's loose went out to pass.
Speaker 3 (03:00:34):
Goal rebound Badger's score.
Speaker 10 (03:00:36):
Hey hey frin finley qrint Finley. The game tigle it's two.
Speaker 4 (03:00:43):
Two, then marked then alert skates taken away by Michigan State.
Three on two to our right. Russell in the middle
of the ice, left wing. Now Howard, they're on side.
He elects to shoot any scars Isaac Howard beater pony.
Michigan State regains the lead. It's three to two and

Speaker 4 (03:01:47):
Of the game here tonight from Wrigley Field as Michigan
State prevails. The Spartans took a one nothing lead after
one period as vladislawv Lukashevich scored unassisted at fifteen thirty six,
first goal of his collegiate career. In the second period,
after Badgers actually were out shot seventeen to nine in
the opening period but only down one nothing. In the
(03:02:10):
second period of play, Michigan State extended its lead to
two as Daniel Russell scored from the defenseman Austin Orbitz
at four to twenty nine, ninth goal of the year
for Russell that made it to nothing. Badgers get on
the board as Anthony Kerr set up Gavin Morrissey at
ten to seventeen. Morrissey's seventh goal of the season made
it two to one. Badgers then tied it as Quinn
(03:02:32):
Finley found the back of the net at fourteen thirty
five from Joe Polatachuck and Ryland Moseley for Finley his
nation's best sixteenth goal of the year. Michigan State then
took the lead back in the third period of play
as Daniel Russell set up Isaac Howard at seven point
thirty two. Howard's thirteenth goal of the season made it
three to two. Michigan State Badgers emptied their net for
(03:02:55):
an extra attacker and would score to pull even as
Ryland Moseley finished off pass play from Quinn Finley and
Ben Dexheimer at nineteen twelve for Mosley as eleventh goal
of the season. That made it three to three. And
then we went to overtime and Michigan State had three
shots on goal, Wisconsin had two. The last shot went
in from Daniel Russell, they say unassisted at four fifty nine,
(03:03:19):
tenth goal of the year for Russell. He gets the
game winner here tonight from Michigan State. Wisconsin didn't commit
a penalty tonight. Michigan State just won. Padgers zero for
one on the power play, face offs about ease even
block shots as well. In goal tonight, Luca to Pascual
made thirty one saves. The sophomore netminder gets the win.
(03:03:40):
His record now six and oh Michigan State improves to
seventeen to two and one eight one and one in
the Big Ten. Meanwhile, Tommy Scarfoni stopped thirty four shots tonight.
He suffers the loss his record now eight eight and one.
The Badgers fall to nine to twelve and one five
and nine in the Big Ten. They are four to
(03:04:01):
nine and one in one goal games this season and
two six and one in overtime. We didn't get a
final attendance here, but I would say there were twenty
thousand plus right, and it was for a January evening
at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Speaker 3 (03:04:17):
This was a blast.
Speaker 4 (03:04:18):
And I know you want to get warm, and I'd
like to get warm, but I'd like to find my car. Yeah,
I just want to take it in one more time.
We're standing in the middle of Wrigley Field, just watched
a hockey game. Yep, you know, good times. Here come
the final stats. Here come the final box scorer, and
the attendance. Twenty four thousand, seven hundred eighty eight.
Speaker 3 (03:04:36):
So we were only off by five grand.
Speaker 4 (03:04:38):
Yeah, we thought it was close to twenty thousand, and
for sure, twenty four thousand, seven hundred eighty eight. The
game only took in in three hours and thirty four
minutes to.
Speaker 3 (03:04:48):
Complete, except at it started an hour late. It did.
Speaker 4 (03:04:52):
So there's your final score. Tonight in Michigan State four
and Wisconsin three, we'll wrap up our broadcast in a moment.
This is bad your hockey from Learfield.
Speaker 3 (03:05:05):
Pauly In.
Speaker 4 (03:05:05):
Despite the result, it was fun playing hockey here at
Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Speaker 3 (03:05:09):
For the players and the coaches, yes, probably for the
color commentators not so much, especially with the end result.
I mean, that's the one thing. It's a very tough
pill to swallow when you see such an evenly matched
game and it's just that one little chip shot, that
one little tip in, that one little whatever that makes
a difference in the game. But as far as I
(03:05:30):
can see, the number one team in the nation had
their hands full when they played the Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 4 (03:05:35):
Yep, Hey, thanks a lot for coming down here. This
was a lot of fun. This is a lot I
find my car. If I don't, I'll be calling you
to get a right home. And about Jake Hargrove, thanks
for your work at our Learfield Studios in Jefferson City, Missouri.
My thanks to Ian Parrin, and thanks to all of
you for listening and for those that may have made
it down here to Wrigley Field of the beautiful friendly confines,
(03:05:57):
where once again the final score of Michigan State knocks
off Wisconsin in overtime four three. I'm Brian Posek saying
so long everybody, thanks for listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey
from Wearfield.
