Pairent, the Big ten referees tonight, Fryan Hankus and Tom
Della Franco, the linesman, Riiley Bowles and Dan Cohen. The
opening faceoff brought to you by Odyssey Creek Yogurt. Start
your day with thick, creamy and all natural Greek yogurt
with real flavorful fruit Odyssey Greek Yogurt. Every game big
for the Badgers right now, three games under five hundred.
They need to get the five hundred to be eligible
(01:17):
for the NCAA Tournament unless they win the Big Ten Tournament.
Currently one point behind fourth place Michigan for the final
home playoff spot in the Big Ten Tournament, four pint
points behind Ohio State. The Badgers will be in Columbus
next weekend. Here they're taking on Penn State in Madison,
and we're underway. Penn State, the best face off team
in the country at fifty six percent, wins the opening
(01:40):
drop of the Badgers get it and dump it down
in and we'll pursue the puck. It's Kid Christiansen, the
big left handed defenseman, spins it around of the near side.
They break out Serrato to the middle of the ice,
Fitzgerald right on him. Serrado takes a bump from Fitzgerald
as he dumps it in. Scarfoni behind his net, breakout
far side deck Sheimer. Kuchanan couldn't handle the pass on
(02:00):
a second attempt, now and cooking it up the middle
of Morrissey white side busting in. Here's Wisconsin. S Luscoski
tries to get a back cander off, he got pulled
from behind, save made by Sergeyev. The Badgers get a
power play thirty eight seconds in boy that developed quickly
out of the Badger's zone.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Yeah, I did, because Benn State was in the midst
of a change in the left handed defenseman who jumped
up on the ice decided to come up to the center,
and Leskowsky, who had just come off the bench, was
ready to rumble. And of course, when you get that
pass and you get a breakaway like that, he tried
to go five hole on his backhand, but he never
(02:37):
even got any wood on the puck because of the
fact that he was being cooked by the Penn State player.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yep, that would be Aiden Fink, the sophomore forward, gets
two minutes for hooking at thirty eight seconds. So the
Badgers on a power play about twenty three percent this
season twenty five percent in league play. They'll rimming around
to the far side. Quinn Finley at the right half
wall now of deck. Seimer pressured and flips it to
the corner. Simon Tassey with Rylan Moseley and Gavin Morrissey.
(03:03):
Morrissey outside the left circle, takes a look, thought about
passing straight away, flubbed it. Now dex Sheimer's got it
back left wing to Morrissey to the goal line. Leskowski
our beggar pardon Tassi tries to set up Moseley that
was broken up by the forward Dane Doyak, and now
a bad pass by Arrasse intercepted by Penn State. Here
comes Peters down the right wing and then veers off
(03:23):
to his right with three Badgers hustling back. Penn State
has six short handed goals this season. Its penalty kill
is eighty percent, but sixty nine percent in league playing
not good at all. Gwinn Finley flies into the offensive zone,
taps it out to Leskowski, keeps it over the outstretched
hand of Finley down to the far corner, and Owen
lin Mark, the Badgers captain, spins it back around to
(03:44):
the left corner. Down the boards comes Finley, tried to
get it to Tyson Dick. He's met on the near
side by Christiansen. Penn State able to clear fifty five
seconds to go on the Badgers Cune's power play early
on here in Madison, no score.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Morrissey flubbed on the attempts. I think at that point
in time, I don't know if he's using somebody else's
stick or whether he better a justice contacts.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
When Lynn mark in is one hundred and sixty fifth game,
lets the puck roll around to the far side. Liskowsky
now Henzler backpedaling and fires fired it right off the
right pad of Sergia. Puck loose in the Penn State zone,
eventually gathered in by the Nitney Lions and brayden Ford
will skate it out and send it in and Penn
State will change its penalty killers one more time twenty
(04:28):
seconds to go in Wisconsin's man advantage. This will be
the most aggressive penalty killed that we have seen here
in the Big Ten. After the first passes made, day
kind of back off, but notice how deep they play
on the breakout. You know they've got one man on
the fore check and then three wide near the red
and blue line. Badger's dump it down in to the
power plays expired. Wisconsin tried to gain possession and the
(04:50):
offensive zone to our left. Knocked down to his knees
was Wisconsin's Jack Korback. He's double team behind the net
get some support from freshman Ryan bottlerol but Penn State
has the fucking breaks out. Aiden Fink now can't get
around Wisconsin's Polada Chuck slowed down to the corner, still
has possession with it. Thank now turns and sends it
back behind a net. It rolls to the far side
(05:10):
in Reese Lawback out to the point. Shot by Carter
Shade blocked, loosened the slot, picked up Fink. He shoots
one low. It's right between the pads of Scarfhony and
tucked in by a lawback. Won nothing. Midney Lions first
shot on goal.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
You're right, it went right between the pads and the
backside defenseman who I think was Piltachuck. Had the man
relatively tied up as he was going into the back
of this side. Noah as Dexheimer, excuse me, but when
the pucks laying there and you've got the inside track,
easy goal for Penn State.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Reese Lawback, who originally committed to Mike Hastings and Todd
Kannat at Minnesota State, gets his eleventh goal of the season.
Aiden Fink will get the primary assist his nineteenth, and
so Penn State on the board first. Here in Madison,
the Badgers had a power play and then think dangerous
in the slot put it on goal. Scarfoni try to
(06:08):
get his pads together just a tad too late and
it trickled right through the pillows and then knocked in
by a lawback. Yeah, just laying there like a big
old potato. Yep. And now the puck back out at center,
Gavin Morrissey will dump it in out of the reach
of the goaltender. Sergia bye his net. They try to
break out Steele Finley, He's got a right circle slot
(06:30):
more see back to Finley, say by sergi of Then
tight quick whistle blown by De la Franco the referee
at a stoppage and play bad turnover by Penn State,
and boy, the Badgers had a great chance to pull even.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
That's just like you draw it up on hockey playbook. Give, go,
give and shoot and have your leading scorer shoot on
his forehand right. That's uh golden opportunity missed.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Finley held scoreless last weekend at Minnesota. Only six games
out of twenty eight this season is Finley gone without
a point, Tied for fourth in the country in goals
with nineteen sixth in points. Here's a turnaround feed by
Tassi low right through the paint, cutting down from the
point is Henzler turns feed in front Tassie off the
(07:17):
heel of his stick, tied up a bit by the
defenseman Jared Crespo. Now pitch dart of arms way by
doiak and they turn and come to our right. It's
Tyler Puckett with it. They were right handed forward. A
grad student from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, set it in after a doeak.
He's to stick handling in the near side wall. Hensler
able to nudge it ahead to owen lin Mark. He'll
(07:38):
skate it out to the red line and then helped
by Bonerel who tried to get it deep, unable to
do so. Penn State with a pucket center Danny Shaniev
all five foot five of them had the puck at
neutral ice. Crawls across the badger's line. Now a battle
ensues right by the scorers table in front of us,
and the white and cardinal clad badgers cough it up
lead feed log back. He got his stick at it
(08:01):
behind dex Sheimer in pursuit and then diving lowback shot
was battled away by a Scarfoni didn't have a clean
lane to the net. Think with a buck though, bumps
it off the right wing right open in front. Shanee
of nobody on him from the hash marks down Ian
towards the goldtender. There was nobody defending Janie of and
had Fink seen him sooner? It beat two nothing and
(08:23):
now Fink fire is one that goes off a stick
out to the blue line. Shaniev shot blocked by Deckheimer
think hustling after it to his knees keeps it alive
in the attacking zone before it threw it to the
stick of Ben deck Seiner. The Badgers will settle it
down five point fifteen into the first Penn State with
a one nothing lead.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Wholesale changes for Bucky dex Sheimer behind the net not
a bad way they go with a one two to two.
You should be able to break that out of the
zone relatively easily.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Tyson Dick with Sawyer shol and Jack Horbach this forward
line for Wisconsin, although Adam Piedla, the extra skater filling
for horback now Zach Schulz, the sophomore defenseman, kicks the
puck to his forehand and taps it ahead Piedla in pursuit,
out of his reach and gathered in now by Penn
State's Brayden Ford. Ford will dump it in after it
(09:13):
Jack Falin for Wisconsin. The defenseman moves it back near
side to shoals up to center, dick fire to pass
that hit the buttocks of Matt Demarcico and then lomp
back Wisconsin's way. An icing called on Penn State one nothing.
Nitney lyons lawback at three ten is eleventh of the year.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
And again it's a it was a giveaway. Uh, it
was a giveaway. Save Yeah, and uh. But that line,
that top line of theirs have that ability to find
the open puck, find the open man, find the open space.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Rodgers winning the offensive zone. Face off Hensler behind the net.
Now Morrissey defended there by Charlie Serrado passed to the slot.
Finley defended, picked up I mostly turnaround shot. That's block.
Carims to the far side to Marcico after it Morrissey
right on him. Pucko's at the corner in Finley engaged
now with a defenseman Crespo, who's able to poke the
puck free to Serrato and up to the near side.
(10:10):
Wee bush and Serrato just got hit up near the chin,
went down on all fours, tried to draw a penalty.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
Nothing called he did it. That was about a nine
point nine on the acting scale in there that book.
Here's Morrissey now crossed the line, Badger's on side. Morrissey
tried to feed it to Finley, cutting to the net.
Good read by Christiansen to break that up. Pallata Chuck
from the red line try to get it back deep
knocked down by Simon mac their team captain, and sent
all the way back into the Wisconsin zone where plata
(10:38):
Chuck goes to get it. About seven minutes gone by
in the first one nothing Nitny lyons with a lead.
Badger's got a power play thirty eight seconds in but
failed to converts, and then Penn State scored just a
little less than a minute later. Wisconsin's had its issues
giving up goals early in a game.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Shaniev now shoots that went off a stick and over
the outstretched glove of Scarfrooni wide to the backboards. Here's
plata Chuck now turns to his left and scoops it
out through center, bounces on edge not strongly enough for icing.
Penn State's Christiansen BacT to get it Tyson Simon Tassi
meets him right along the side of the net. We
up the Nitney Lyons come right through the middle. Now
(11:16):
here's Peter snaps one off love save made by Scarfhoni.
He hangs on Keaton Peters with sucks. Sussex was conton
Native had a chance right down the middle and Scarfoni
with his best stop so far. Twelve twenty six into
the first one, nothing Penn State runs. Christensen beats Simon
Tassi along the boards. He got into a situation where
(11:36):
it became a three on two and it was uncomfortable
for the back checking forward because he didn't really know
which player from Penn State he should take. Is he
going to take to Christensen, who's probably going to hold up.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
I've got a feeling we're going to have a review. Well,
there was contact. Charlie Serrato was skating out of his
own zone. I didn't see the contact, but I look
back and saw him go down and he's grabbing his
face mask. He was on all fours looking at the referees.
(12:08):
Got nothing.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Guy Ganowski then spoke with Brian Hanks, one of the referees,
and so with a stoppage and play, they will take
a look at video replay to see if Wisconsin should
be penalized. For a five minute nature Wisconsin Hockey brought

We haven't seen video replay yet, so I'm not sure
what the referees exactly are looking at this island. Mosley
(12:53):
was the guilty party if it is just skated right
through him. Yeah, we just got a brief look where
Serrato goes down, but I'm not sure there was a
lot of contact there. The referees are in communication with
the folks up here at the scorers table, and we
(13:17):
wait for their determination. Here. Badgers and Penn State again
tomorrow night six o'clock face off five thirty pre game
on the Badgers Sports Network and the Varsity Network app
then off to Ohio State before the regular season ends
here on February twenty second and twenty third, Beg Your
Pardon twenty first and twenty second against Notre Dame Badgers
(13:40):
have to go five and one over the final six
games to finish the regular season above five hundred four
games at home through on the road against an Ohio
State team that's currently in third place and is given
Wisconsin fits over the last few years.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
I think that the higher priority is to get home
ice for the first onto the playoffs. Sure, I mean, now,
whether that's a four and two or three and three,
or whether Michigan stumbles, you know, all of those things
put in. But I did like to quote by Courch
Hastings and his annual or weekly press conference, it wasn't
it amazing that there's still three point games? But it
(14:17):
just gets magnified, no doubt as to the importance of
all these games.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Now Michigan and Michigan State tied at one halfway through
the second period in East Lansing, and now the referees
are about to step outside. Let us know what's going on.
Rylan Moseley gets a five minute major and a game
(14:44):
is conduct for head contact. Oh, that throws a wrinkle
into things. Mike Hastings now talking with whoa referee, Tom Delfranco,
and the Madgers leading second leadings Well, he and Morrisey
both have twenty nine, but their second leading goal scorer,
Ryland Moseley done for the night seven and a half
(15:07):
minutes in Wow.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Five minute major and game misconduct to Rylan Moseley at
the seven thirty four mark Wow contact to the head,
and I'll be honest with you, I didn't see it
on the replay. They have a lot better angles all
the rest of that kind of stuff. But the fact
of the matter is is the Badgers are down one
(15:30):
nothing and they now have to kill off a five
minute major power play.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Sisconsin's penalty kills been good of late twenty six and
twenty nine over the last eleven games eighty percent overall,
seventy seven percent in the league. Penn State. With a
pop back behind the Badgers net, Platochuck just crossed check
Dowiek out of the ice. We play on Ker tried
to dig it free off the end boards. It's chopped
out to the point in Mac. He's at the left side,
(15:55):
now to the left wing, and lawback out to Mac
right side. Fink catches, walks to the dot, bumps it
back out to Mac. Thirty seconds gone by in their
five minute power play, shot by Fink blocked by care
up into the air, knocked to the near side by
Wisconsin's pull outa chuck, and then it's heaved up off
the stick and over the glass, out of play for
(16:16):
twenty three left in the major penalty to Rylan Mosley Badgers.
Down one nothing here first period in Madison. Yeah, thirty
seven seconds of complete control in the offensive zone by
Penn State. It's going to take a couple individual efforts
here to kill this one off. Penn State had scored
a power play goal at least won over a six
(16:38):
game stretch until Saturday, when it went oh for four
and losing at Michigan. About twenty one percent overall and
in league play is Penn State's power play percentage. Here's
a puck down a little right. They have Demarcco out
to the point in aman right handed defenseman to the
left handed to Maarsco shoots one low stick saved made
by Scarfoni directed it to the far corner. Jack Thalen
(16:59):
then jousting with JJ Whebush, a freshman forward for Penn State.
Puck is loose off the stick of Morrissey and character
right to Scarfhony in the crease. He had to cover
quickly and get a whistle. Three point fifty two left
in the power play for Penn State one nothing Ntney
lyons on top. Well about as boring as uninteresting as
(17:23):
you can talk about a hockey game. It's the scrums
along the end boards, but from the Badger's perspective, it's
a time killer. Yep. Penn State won the face off
Mac with it far wing. It's law back buck deflected
by one of the Badger's penalty killers, turned over by
Penn State, and care picks up the loose change and
(17:45):
sends it all the way down. Three and a half
minute's left in the power play for Penn State. Here
comes Simon Mack up the ice. Mac has put up
some points this season eighteen and twenty six games. Here's
number eighteen. Aden Faint hams off near side Dowey ac
bumps it out to Mac and then his past cross
ice broken up by Morrissey who wanted to bust free,
(18:05):
but the puck was bobbling and up in his sweater
and finally dropped out of the ice and he sent
it all the way down, but killing off time. On
this Penn State power play, Badgers have a couple of
short handed goals this season. Fitzgerald's out there right now
with Morrissey, Fhalen, and Shoals. Penn State spins it around
in the offensive celle to the point, coughed up by
(18:25):
Mac and cleared by Shoals. Less than three minutes to
go on the Penn State Power Play. Boys, Shoals and.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Palin are going to gather a lot of time on
this penalty kill. Sure are they've been successful. Oskowsky out
on the PK ride. Now he's got one of the
Badger's shorthanded goals, Lynn Mark the other. Those two team
together with Shoals and Falen, Penn State will whip it
in to Marsaco with it left corner, met there by
Falan slowed.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Just a bit. Demarscow tries to muscle it out to
the point, but right to the stick of Wisconsin's Lindmark
hitched it past the defenseman, tries to cut in left wing,
no there, but he takes it to the corner. Now
pins it against the kick play try to waste more
time before Demarcco finally pulls it free. Two fifteen to
go on the Penn State Power Play one nothing, Knitney Lions,
nine thirty five to go, on the first Scarfronia rimmed
(19:14):
it around but not out. Amen. Now back to the
near side point for Lugris. Good play by Lindmark to
force Ahman's hand quickly, and the puck came across the
blue line out to neutral Io. Penn State had to
touch up under two minutes to go in the Nidney
Lions power play with it now, Serrato, he'll fire it
in left corner to right, spins around to the near
side Dylan Lugris he couldn't control, and it comes all
(19:36):
the way through neutral back to the Penn State zone.
Doing a good job here, Ian.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
Yeah, And they're keeping the puck to the perimeter, and
Penn State's not winning those perimeter battles.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
That's along the boards. They have not been very good
on the power play. Here comes back up the middle
of the ice, drops back to think at the red line.
Blue line passed too far for Dowiak. After it shoals,
he's able to get enough of it to headman the
Morrissey who scoops it out, bounces over the stick of
back and all the way down. Eighty seconds left on
the Penn State power play. One nothing. Nitney lyons loose
(20:11):
bucket center. Fitzgerald picks it up and fired down by Falan.
Excellent work by the Wisconsin penalty kill. Yeah, a lot
of those turnovers have been in the neutral zone. There
haven't been turnovers down deep, which can really cause terror
to the Badger penalty killers. Penn State gains the line.
I hope they were delayed off side, and so the
puck is free to Leskowsky, who skates behind his own net,
(20:34):
finds care and he sends it the length of the
ice forty five seconds to go in that five minute
major power play for Penn States.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yeah, I use this descriptive term a lot anemic. That's
what Penn State's powerplay has been like here in the
first four and a half minutes of it.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
At least think right wing met by shoals, trailing dobe
act try to get it to the point unsuccessful, taken
away by Horbock one on two, Jack Horback one on three,
fans off to the near side wall and fires it
all the way back to open ice in Wisconsin zone,
which wastes more time. The only man to get to
it was Henzler, and he sends it two hundred feet
(21:10):
down The Badgers have ten seconds left to kill off
on Moseley's five minute major beautiful and the crowd appreciating
what they see, having the Cardinal and White Badgers kill
off that five minute power play for Penn steak Wisconsin
at full strength pass out et cetera intercepted by dex
Heiber Schol was already deep in the Penn State zone
(21:31):
as to touch up Badger's now on side, so the
PK comes through. Excellent job by Wisconsin's pedalty kill one nothing.
Nitney lyons seven to ten to go in the opening period,
and now we'll find out what we're gonna do with
that extra forward. Now is steal Tesssey with a chance.
Oh he never got to shut off as he walked
to the net. He took it away from Carter's shade.
(21:52):
Now here's a pass slot fanning off left, Finley can't control.
Now he does looking backside, Finley slot shot Oh shoal
shot stick to side by Sergiev, than misplayed by Wee
Bush to the corner. Tassi's got it. Finley taps it
out to the left point. Henzler fake right, came back
left trying to cut around the defenseman. He's got it.
Behind the net centering past or Shoul. He's swung and
(22:13):
miss Sawyer gets it back. Blast by Tassi off the
head of Sergiev to the point tech simer raiddirect Tassi
covered by Sergiev. A whistle stops play the penalty kill
inspire the crowd and the Badgers who started peppering Arsene
Sergiev but still trailing, Penn State won nothing with six
(22:33):
twenty nine left in the opening period. The Wisconsin Department

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Wisconson five six and three at home this season. Students
don't seem to care what the record is. They just
show up in droves. The rest of the crowd still
filing in rather light for a Friday night here in February.
For Wisconsin hockey, Leskasse with a pucket of the red
line dumps it into the zone to our left. Nice
redirect breakout pass to the stick of Tyler Puckett. Now
(24:19):
it's Peter's backside. Pucket feeds in front, intended for Peters,
canceled out by the stick of Plata Chuck. They're able
to hold Christians and fires it to the right point
in mac his pass were shot blocked by Fitzgerald. Lead
feed for Leskowski two on one with Kukan in, Leskowsky
left wing tangles, tried to go five hole and Serki
led to stop and tattle it to the near side
(24:39):
wall roofta Sskowsky had Kukan in, but the defender took
Kukan in and allowing Liskowski to walk in and sergiave
kim Hip with a big stop. Here's Anthony Kerr's center
point to is right. Tried to push it towards the neck,
got it again, chipped it right over the top of
the cage. Oh, Anthony ker trying to make something happen
offensively scoring feenom you get to score a goal this season,
(25:02):
but he's got ten helpers. Penn State tries to exit
it so and doweyak got a piece of it all
the way down. That's too strong though, I sing call
and the Nitney lyons. So the Badgers get an offensive
zone face off five point fifteen to go in the
first trailing one to nothing. The Badger's offense starting to
generate a few things.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Here Ian yeah they are, and then the last shift
before we went to a commercial break.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Was very instant.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Kind of reminded me of the way Badger hockey was
in the first semester where frustration.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
But just keep peppering them.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
I see that the line change has been made where
they're going to bump Simon Tassi up to the right
side with Kevin Morrissey and Quinn Finley. Yep, pretty natural transition.
I think they suited thirteen forwards, we'll see a little
bit more of Adam Pieddale. Here's Finley now right circle,
carries backhand towards then at knocked off his stick Ricochet's
near side. Puckett scoops it out to center. But Penn
(25:54):
State can only change one now two of its five skaters.
Finley at the center circle wheels back into his own zone.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Now up the left wing, got through three Nitney Lions
and gives chase and retrieve the bucket of corner. Mac
wiped out, lost his stick passed by Finley, too hard
to handle all the way down the ice. It comes,
and now Penn State will change and the Badgers will
mix things up too. With four and a half minutes
left of the first period, one nothing Nitney Lions Reese
Lawback scored it three ten after a Badger's defensive zone turnover.
(26:27):
Lynn Mark now red line, he'll dump it in, but no,
it hit the linesman getting in the way. The linesman
Dan Cohen. That feeds Penn State's offense two on two
the other way. Although Badgers do an ice job defensive
leaf a lot of chuck and dex Shimer with help
from Lynn Mark long range shot by Amen off the
end boards. Horback just got spun around with an elbow
up near the head. That from the body of Brayden Ford.
(26:50):
A delayed penalty coming up on Penn State and the
Badgers will get another power play. Ford went upstairs and
knocked Hornback, spun him around a little bit, and the
referees are gonna chat and we'll see if they're gonna
look at video replay if this should be a major pedally.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Interestingly enough, when you see Jack Horback get hit, it's
a lot of times it's an Academy Award winning performance.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Paul on the ice is a major penalty for head contact,
so they'll have to review it. I'm assuming they're going
to take a look at it and determine whether or
not it's it warrants a ten minute misconduct like what
happened with Rylan Mosley earlier in this period. So boy,
all of a sudden, things could change here again rather quickly.
Time of the pedalies sixteen minutes. Braden Ford, in his
(27:40):
Penn State debut, scored a goal in his very first
game at Alaska. He hasn't scored since. He's been in
and out of the lineup as Ford and here, one
way to get out of the lineup is to take pedals,
and this one may cost them a little bit more
than two minutes. Again and on the ice it was
(28:01):
called a five minute major. Hey, folks, For every goal
the Wisconsin men's and women's hockey team score this season,
oak Park Place and other select hockey radio sponsors are
pledging ten dollars for research conducted on campus by the
UW Initiative to end Alzheimer's at the School of Medicine
and Public Health. And you can assist us and try
(28:22):
to end Alzheimer's too. Visit Goals for a Cure dot
org to learn more and where you can sign up
to give for each Badger goal score this season. You
know right now there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease,
but groundbreaking research at UW Madison is improving lives and
working to slow and prevent the disease while providing outreach
(28:43):
and support for families. Again visit Goals for Acure dot org.
Well what do you think here? I is it going
to be a five minute while misconduct on four? They
called it a five minute major on the ice.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
They called it a five minute major on the ice.
I don't know if they can change their mind or not,
but they the head snapped back, but I didn't honestly
see that it was contact of the head. I thought
he just hit him by the shoulder and snapped his
head back, but not one hundred percent sure. We'll have
to now Riley Bowles, the.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Line's been and Tom delos Franco over to talk with
Badger's coach Mike Hastings and Brian Hankus will turn it
out of the scores table and try to tell us
what's going on. A major for head contact. He's done
(29:39):
for the night, and Guy Ganowski doesn't like the explanation
he's getting from the other referee, del Franco. So the
Badgers get a five minute major. It's the old marble theory.
Bill Howard is Carley. Bill's laughing all the way right now,
Yes he is.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yeah, Well, we got a lot of marbles here over
on the Penn State side. We better get some back
on Bucky's side.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
So Wisconsin gets its second Cuenis power play this one
for five minutes, and this will be the telltale sign
with Mosley being gone, dex Seimer, Finley one timer, glub
by the kneeling Sergiev, and another face off to come
in the Penn States. Oh, that took just seven seconds.
Something Mike Hastings had talked about during the week of
generating more offense, and you can do that with face
(30:25):
off plays. And that was a nice one right there. Yeah,
it works out for the while when when you come
out of the scrum, everybody's looking from both teams where
it is, and if you've got it, they're on the
reaction part of it. Face off again to the left
of Sergiev came free to Penn State. They lose it.
Finley t's one oh, locked by the defenseman Shade who
actually lost the puck originally, and Wisconsin Finley knocked down.
(30:48):
Liskoski tries to center, goes off the skate. Badgers hold
his own Ben deck Seimer left wing, now Finley outside
the circle, looking down to the goal line. Leskowsky tap
pass for Bottlerel didn't get through. We're trying to work
that small tri angle to the right of the cage.
Dex Seimer back out high, Finley put it in front,
went off the right knee of Sergeiyev Ronero Retreeves one
time blast by Finley, stopped by sergievn cleared by Penn State.
(31:12):
A few good looks for Wisconsin. Still four point fifteen
to go on this Cuna's power play. Badger's down one
nothing late first period. Hear in Madison, Penn State defenseman
Shade Boy. That's the shift he wants to forget.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
Get hit by Finley, lose your stick, get hit again
by Finley, Hey.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Tyson Dick dumps it in. Tassy played it to the corner.
Fitzgerald tried to get it to the point but didn't
get a clean pass off. Good work at center by
Henzler to slow the progress of Think, but Think chased
it down on the Wisconsin zone. Hands off to Ree's
lawback and the right hander will skate it out to center.
Leaves it off for Christensen. You'll set it down and
(31:49):
the Badgers we'll get after the puck. Two and a
half minutes to go on the first period, three and
a half minutes left on the Badger's power play, Wisconsin
down one. Here's Tyson Dick. Now Dick across the line,
shoves it into the left corner. Fitzgerald after it rims
it around to the far side tass He takes it
off the wall, spins it back to the left corner.
(32:09):
The Badgers had already vacated that area. Easy clear for
Penn State.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
Time for a change for both squads. I think the
first power play unit, despite the fact that they're missing
Ryland Mosley YEP, was a lot more conscientious in the zone.
There's Henzler up to center and now of Finley gets
around Mac but didn't get the.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Puck deep enough. Serrato able to battle along with Mac
and the puck to flex up over the glass and
out of play. Badgers went zero for three on the
power play at Minnesota last weekend, when they took five
of six points from Penn State and State College. They
went two for seven and actually finished off the finale
by scoring two power play goals in the last six
minutes or so.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
The different being I don't remember either team having five
minute majors.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
At Penn State, Oh, there were nusses back to back yep,
and Penn State wins the face off and clears. Yeah again.
The Nitney Lions number one in the country and face
off percentage fifty six percent. The Badgers are number two.
Wisconsin has the top face off man in the country,
Owen Lynn market sixty one percent. Penn State has the second,
(33:16):
Charlie Serrato hit sixty. Finley dumps it in, chases it
down three Nitney Lions on Finley, they win the propck
and clear again.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
I think both the Badger teammates at that time, Morrissey
and Bryan Botterol are expecting Finley to win that one
on one battle.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Then when they don't Yep, Finley cross ice across the Lion.
Liskonski tried to chip it towards the net taken away
by Penn State. Fank fights through the stick check of Botterrel,
nudged it ahead to center protext and then gave it
away to Morrissey at neutral ice. Well a wait to
go here. In the first two O seven in the
power play YEP, Badgers trailing won nothing shots on goal
(33:54):
eight to six in favor of Wisconsin. Here's Deck Seimer
left wing, caught by Dick up the middle. Now Fitzgerald
right wing reaching for it, lynn Mark following up Tassy,
Fitzgerald tap past to the point Hensler. Fifty seconds to
go on the period, Tyson Dick down low left, Tassy
wheeling passed towards the slot and tenant for lynn Mark
broken up by Carson Dick, the senior from Lethbridge, Alberta,
(34:16):
and again Penn State clears. Nice set up, very nice
set up.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
This group has played together long enough that they understand
where everybody else is going to be.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Fitzgerald tried to force a pass cross ice and went
off the skate of his teammate, but Christian retrieved and
finds that teammate Simon Tassy right's eye. Hensler hits the
brakes to avoid Pucket. Now turns back right, has puckets
spinning around a little bit. Glen Mark straight on his shot,
buck by Christiansen Dick after it. Badger's habit go line right,
Fitzgerald out high Hensler. Eight seconds to go on the period.
(34:49):
Hensler spinning around out high five seconds left. Fitzgerald turn
around shot that one off a stick to the corner.
Penn states Christiansen after it protects himself and the puck
and the horn sounds and the opening period Badgers will
have one minute of power play hockey when the second
period begins to major penalties in the first one on
each team. The long goal scored by Penn State's race
(35:12):
lawback it's one nothing, Ntney lyons after one period of
play back in one minute. This is Badger hockey from Airfield.

That's Bryant dot com. Brian Partner of Wisconsin Athletics.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Or Wisconsin got a power play thirty eight seconds in
failed converts and then about seven minutes later, Rylan Mosley
took a five minute major penally for head contact was
kicked out of the game. Penn State got five minutes
of powerplay hockey, failed to converts, and then Brandon Ford
took a five minute major for head contact at the
sixteen minute mark. The Badgers had a five minute power play,
(36:49):
failed to score on the first four minutes sixty seconds
of man advantage hockey for the Badgers. When the second
period begins, Penn State six shots on goal. Tommy Scarfoni
with five saves, Arsenni Sergiev stopped all eight Badger bids
in the opening frame. The loan goal scored by Reese
lawback the San Jose Sharks draft choice a couple of
(37:11):
years ago. It came at three ten eight and Fink
the loan helper for lawbackers eleventh of the year. So
the Badgers had an early power play, got a couple
of chances, didn't convert, and then a mistake in the
defensive zone leads to their only goal. The Badger's penalty
killed did its job and got the crowd and the
team going a little bit. And now in this major
(37:32):
power play, though, it's kind of lulled a bit.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
I think what happens is that you have your third
and fourth line guys who are killing penalties, and you
get into a situation where they're going back to back.
You saw Korback and lin Mark and then you saw
Morrissey and whatever else, and all of a sudden, the
guys like Adam Pidla, Sawyer, shoal Tyson Dick, who aren't
(37:57):
out there killing penalties during that five minute span.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
As soon as the penalty's over, they get to play again.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
And we saw a minute and a half to two
minutes of really intense Badger for checking because those guys
are arrested, and they got shots on net and they
won loose puck battles. It's the mental part of it
that I've missed about seven shifts in a row. Here,
let me get going.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
So you get back to five on five hockey, and
your quote unquote third fourth liners turn around and do
a great job at the end of the period. All right,
the Badger's down one nothing after one period of play.
Stay tuned. The first intermission report brought to you by
American Family Insurance Insure Carefully, Dream Fearlessly. This is Badger
Hockey from Airfield.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Badger Hockey is brought to you by American Family Insurance Insure, Carefully,
Dream Fearlessly, and by Alliant Energy.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
Alliant Energy is.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Powering beyond for you. It's time to drop the puck
for the second period.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
By Posak and parent Here at the oh Center, Badgers
have one minute of power play hockey to start the
second period, trailing Penn State one a nothing and replacing
the ejected Ryland Moseley. Now on the number one power
play unit is Christian Fitzgerald. Here's Kevin Morrissey across the line,
Badgers on side. Morrissey works down the right wing wall
out to the point in dex Sheimer left wing. Now
(39:20):
Finley met by mac taps back. Dexheimer looks right wing Morrissey.
Morrisey skates outside the circle straight away, now left wing
Finley to the goal line. Liskowski redirected it in front,
but Fitzgerald was back near the hash marks. Badgers hold
the zone. Dexheimer retrieves out by the blue line, off balance,
past slot. Fitzgerald, with his back to the net, tapped
(39:40):
it out the Morrissey. He could turn and shoot. He
was right open. Here's Dexzheimer now working to his right.
Finley cuts off to his left, mack On him again
to the goal line behind the net. Finley. Ten seconds
to go on the Badger's power play of three sixty,
Finley out to dex Seimer, his shot blocked by Keaton
Peters and he clears, and that'll do it for the
Badger's power play. A hole for two tonight, seven minutes
(40:03):
of man advantage hockey, four shots on goal, Penn State
at full strength, a lot of good.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Territorial advantage, but no penetration to the net. Piedlo rims
it around to the far side. Shoal tied up there.
They moved the pump to Carter shade from Mars. You
know he's from Mars. Steels by Shoal puts it in front,
Oh Tyson Dick, ton I by Sergia. Every bed went
off the far post. I believe as Sergio had stacked
his pads.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
He made two point blank saves. Now piedl of center,
I Dick, Tyson Dick, tied up by a lawback fights
through it, passed back from Piela to Dick just out
of his reach, taken away by Jannia little left hander
flying into the Wisconsin zone but slowed by Anthony care
held up by the Badger's fifty year defenseman, and Wisconsin
plays it out to center. That's where their freshman defenseman
(40:51):
Jason Glucci dumps it down in and Henzler goes to
get it for Wisconsin. Tyson Dick turned twenty one yesterday.
He had a goal and an assist the Badger's five
point weekend in State College. Back in November. Oh And
lind Mark, throwing his body around Dick off the end boards,
try to drag it towards the front of the net.
It's to the right of the goaltender Sergiev, who's on
his knees, and then it's pitched up and out. Here's
(41:12):
Demarcco now wheeling, passed to Serrato too far in front
of him, though Charlie. Serrato after it in the corner,
and then he threw it away, and the Badger's on
the attack. To our right, Ryan Botterol with Jack Horbach.
Botterrol dumps it in horback first too at Bottrell tried
to draw it off the end boards, slowed by the defenseman.
Christiansen Galucci goes after it bumped away from the puck.
(41:33):
Here's Wisconsin Fitzgerald wrap around. Sergia made the stop. Oh
did Fitzgerald move quickly? And now Botterlerel fires one left
circle y. Fitzgerald's got in the corner tied up, but
fights through that contact, trying to support his Botterrel cooking
it out there as well. For the Badgers, Fitzgerald just
had his stick yanked out of his hands. Long range
(41:53):
shot by Dexzheimer wide to the stick side of Sergiev
and taken by Penn State ja Wee Bush to the
nearest side. Buckstill on the Penn State's own good for
checking by the Badgers before the Nitney Lions get it
out to center. Three minutes gone by second period one
nothing Penn State.
Speaker 5 (42:11):
That's the type of intensity and puck movement you'd love
to see every night.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Penn State dumps it in. Anthony Kerr after it for Wisconsin,
hounded by Dylan Lucris, but the Badgers now have the prokiers.
Gavin Morrissey nine goals, twenty nine points for the freshman
kukinin across the line, dumps it in behind the nets.
Morrissey didn't have an angle to the puck. Penn State did.
They'll come out of there with it. Nicholas de Graves,
freshman from Edmonton, with Carson Dick the senior alternate captain,
(42:39):
coughed it up. Leskowsky right wing. Morrissey doesn't look at
the net, stick candling outside the top of the right circle.
Here's ker now skates right goal line, back behind the net.
Anthony Kerer turns in, fires to the right of the goaltender.
Sergeief saved. It bounces back to Anthony Kerr, who takes
it off the left wing wall, cuts to the net,
try to pass to Morrissey instead of shooting, and it
went off of skate. Here's a chance for Morrisey. Tried
(43:02):
to wrap it around and Sergia, I've got his left
skate to the pipe and made the stop and covered.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
We had the best advantage of the angle that we
are at here in the press box, and as we
looked down on that sergiab was a little bit late
getting to the post, and that puck just laid there.
Morrissey trying desperately to chip it, hacket, chop it, whatever
he could do to get it over the outstretched pad.
But that was as good as scoring opportunity as the
Badgers have had here.
Speaker 3 (43:29):
Four minutes into the first period, Sergia stopped twenty one
of twenty five shots and of five to four. Lost
to Wisconsin back in State College earlier this season, and
then he got hurt in the finale, gave up two
goals on five shots, left four minutes into the game,
replaced by Noah granninate Germantown native fuck right in front
(43:52):
of the net, but paddled back below the goal line
by Sergia, and he missed eight games. Ben State went
oh and five in the Big Ten when Sergei have
got hurt. But he's back now and they're playing better,
three two and three in their last eight conference games.
Good hit by Wisconsin. Zach Schulz and now contact Boquette
knocked down Tyson Dick here the fans grumbling, but no
(44:14):
penalty call. About five minutes gone by. In the second
Badger's down won nothing. The Nitney Lions casey ahmen from Johnstown,
Pa with the puck. May you have heard the amen
name before? Jack Omen played at Colorado College back in
the mid portion of last decade. Penn State dumps it
in after it deck Sheimer, Hard rim around Finley with it.
(44:36):
The red line walks across the blue line to Nitney
Lions back Morris he now slot pass Polana Chuck got
a shot off circay Plana. Chuck got hooked as he
pulled the tricker. Another Cunis power play coming up for
Wisconsin and quin Finley is not happy.
Speaker 5 (44:50):
The Badgers had control of the pucket just tipped off
a stick of Penn State's defenseman. Defenseman, it was casey ahmen,
and they blew the whistle. The Badgers had full control
of the product and could have been on a technically
a man advantage had the goaltender got into the bench
(45:11):
on time.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
But that was a little weird. It is supposed to
be possession not just touching it with a stick or
your elbow or something. It's supposed to be possession, which
draws the whistle. That was not the case. That's why
Finley complained, but the penalty to Aman for hooking. At
five point sixteen, Badgers get a Cunis power play. Lind
Mark kicked out of the face off circle. Simon Tassi
(45:33):
will step in to the left of Sergiev and Tassi
won the draw from Serrato long range shot. Actually that
was Doiak who up then brought the shot. Hensler with
it the center point. Now lind Mark right circle back
to Hensler. Fanted a shot, boy, he wanted to fire
that thing through the Goldsteader in the net Hensler, though
able to hold his own. Badgers have the puck straight away.
(45:54):
It's Hensler shoots one, goes off the body of Doiak.
Lind Mark then Overskatee. Hensler pinched in to keep it alive.
It's loose to the blue line, juggled a little bit,
and then flies over the glass and reaching forty young
men right in the front row.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
Makes a nice catch, and I think Simon tasks he's
going to have to pay rent down there in front
of the crease. Heensler's just looking for him all the time.
And if if you look at the replay of that
when he fanned on that shot, Simon was parked right
in front. He goes off after the fan and then
he comes back in front, but amazingly enough, neither defenseman
from Penn State seems to be too concerned with him
(46:30):
standing there.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
That's a one that neutralized face off. Fitzgerald pass to
Finley off the stick shade after it gets there first,
bumps it back for Serato little time and Space skates
in front of the benches, continues to carry the puck.
Then Fitzgerald shoulders him down and frees the puck for Deck.
Sim up the middle, now to Fitzgerald, center circle, right wing,
packless Cosky back to Morrissey in the slot at his pocket,
(46:55):
picked from behind by Serato. Badgers regained possession of the puck. However,
Leskowsky with it left wing, ran into his teammate and
a Nitney Lyon. They're trying to pull it free, and
they do and cleared by Nicholas de Graves. Fifty seconds
left in the Wisconsin power play. Oh for two so
far tonight and again Penn State and league play. It's
penalty killed sixty nine percent. Gave up three power play
(47:19):
goals in the last eight chances against. Now Fitzgerald slot
past Deck, Seimer shooting one right pat safe Sergiyev. They
can't reach to clear good hold Fitzgerald. Dex Sheimer pass
in front got off the left knee of Sergiyev. Finley
now below the goal line. It's Liskowski twenty five left
of the power play. Sauce pass outside dex Sheimer, blast
(47:39):
by Finley blocked by Mac held in by Fitzgerald, wheels.
A pass to dex Sheimer walks right down Wisconsin Avenue
is shot blocked. Lou Slot shot by Fitzgerald too high.
Finley now defended by Christiansen below the goal line. Badger's
getting chances on this power play have yet to convert.
Penn State again tries to clear puck, ricochets in the
(48:01):
mid air. Gos at center. They've got a two on one.
Peter's right wing filling the lane, Amen left wing oh.
Peter's shot tonight by Scarfoni with a blocker. Loose puck
came to the near side. Amen couldn't get there for
an easy tap in welcomes Wisconsin on the rush. Lynn
Mark now right wing, passed care it handcuffed him, nudged
ahead by Penn State. Jania with it. Can he get
(48:22):
around Ensler? He's going to give it a try. Actually
fell down as Hensler and he made some body contact
along the wall, now taken back by Wisconsin. Tyson dick
through center, bad pass intercepted by the defenseman Galucci, and
then set all the way back Wisconsin's way and Hensler
has to hustle after it. One nothing, Penn State twelve
minutes to go. Second period, Badgers with sixteen shots on goal,
(48:44):
Penn State only two in this period. Here's Crespo with
a rocket from the blue line, miss the Nats. Kuchinan
settles it down and comes ahead with it at the
Penn State blue line stop, shoots one Sergei of off
his right shoulder rebound there, but Jania picks it up
for Penn State, throws it to the corner and then
kuchin And and Crespo battle for it. Glucci able to
(49:05):
come up and pitchfork it out to center and the
Badgers take it from there. Jack Phalen showing his stick
handling ability as he's double team then gave it away. SHANEA.
Schulsdale helps his deep partner and takes the puck away.
Good play by Zach Sholes. He snaps off a pass
to center too far for shol Serrato then placed it
to the near side in wee bush. His centering pass
(49:26):
intercepted by bonnrel right right wing feed to Shol lost
it trying to win it back to laid off side.
Called on Wisconsin. We paused ten seconds for station identification,
ten seconds for a legal idea. You're listening to Wisconsin
Badger Hockey. Wisconsin Badger Hockey brought to you by UW
Health Sports Medicine, the healthcare team for the Badgers and
proud partner of UW Athletics One Nothing Penn State. Brian
(49:50):
and Ian here at the Cole Center. In this series,
opener Deck Sheimer pull outa chuck Morrissey, Finley and Tassie
on the ice right now for Wiscyohnson. Finley gains the
line dumps it behind the net. Tassie, playing for the
right winger Rylan Moseley, who was ejected for a five
minute major for head contact, is moved up and the
(50:13):
puck out at center and chipped in by Carson. Dick
Lucas gives Chase Polada Chuck there first didn't recognize a
man all through his left of the centering pass goes
off Scarphony to the middle of the eyes. But the
Badgers get possession. There's more cu with the red line.
He'll dump it in and Sergiev will stop it behind
his net for Simon mack and stayed up to center.
(50:37):
Buck Caram's into mid air. Anthony ker tied up, gave
it away, look out, oh pocket. His shot was denied
by Scarphony. Now a passing fuck scarfone comes up huge
on the pinpoint, shot by Lawback and taken away by
Wisconsin's care. All right, badgers have got to figure out
who they've got if they're the forwards. Anthony Kerr let
(50:59):
a man get around him and got a quality shot.
It wasn't Christian Center or a bucket, but it was
Christiansen who got the original shot. And then Lawback from
the ash marks and Scarfunny with a big time save
to keep it a one nothing deficit. Yeah that was
labeled top right. Yeah. They rimming around and down and
then out to center it comes and Aiden Fink goes
(51:20):
to get it. Fink one point four to two point
per game, second best in the country. A young man
who originally committed to Tony Grenado and the Badgers, now
Wisconsin's Leskowski sends it to the near corner of the
attacking zone, but Crespo goes to get it for Penn State.
Big right handed defenseman outlet pass near side. The defenseman
Galucci fell down. Badgers have the puck. Piedla left wing.
(51:41):
Dick comes in all alone shots one too high, held
in by Falan rims it back around behind the net.
Here's Piedla with a turnaround shot left wing.
Speaker 12 (51:50):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
It may have hit the crossbar after crazing the goldtener
and then sent out to center by Penn States. Adam
Piedlo is not scared to shoot it from any place?
Is he up? Tice? Dick tries to dump it in.
It goes off the beveled glass in a whistleing offside
on Wisconsin. We'll take a break. Diamond is to go
on the second bad You're still trailing Penn State one nothing.
This is Badger hockey from their field.

I'll go to golf. And he wins the Celebrity Classic. Yes,
like sixteen under. He's crazy, crazy good at everything. To
Marcigo with a shop that's blocked by dex Sheimer. Dex
Shimer actually the Badgers leading shop blocker this season. Serado
out to the point shade. Shot that's blocked out to
the slot, ricochet off the stick or two that flash
by Serrato and then the past to the left point
(54:00):
in shade too hot to handle and it goes spinning
all the way down to the Penn State zone and
Sergiyev coughed it up in the corner to Horbach where
that was a nonchalan pass by the Penn State netminer
and the Badger's hal possession in the offensive zone bot
a roll tough angled shot sticks ain't made by Sergiyev.
Then near sight carr Te's one up that's kicked out
by Sergiev. It's pretty calm in there. The Russian goaltender
(54:23):
now Lindmark behind the net looking in front left wing.
He skates drops it off. Hensler cuts to the knot
his shot right into the bread basket of the kneeling
Sergiev and he hangs on. What made me the.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Most proud about Joe Povolski when he accepted the trophy.
He had all his teeth in, he had his plate in.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
At the bottom.
Speaker 5 (54:40):
I've seen so many interviews with Joe where that bottom
plate is not in, and he talks like a veteran
of the foreign wars. He's really he's really a classy
young man. And I will say this, he's got a
great set of hands.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
Holy cow, he could yeah, I mean anything he does,
he's good at buck is loose after an offensive zone
face off, Penn State's got it and we'll clank it
out to center. It's high in the air, reaching Ford.
Anthony Ker knocks it down for himself, almost coughed it
up at the Wisconsin blue line. Penn State picks it
up at neutral and dumps it down in Tommy Scarfoni.
(55:16):
The only goal score tonight was a shot from the
slot by Aiden Fink that went between the pads of Scarfhony.
Tommy got a piece of it, slowed it down, but
then Lawback came hustling in as it laid in the
paint and he tucked it in shot from a tough
angle stick safe made by Sergeiy of loose Finley his
shot bucked in front. Nice job by the Graves, the
(55:36):
freshman centerman getting in the way of Finley's shot attempt.
That's like the fifth shot that he's had blocked flow,
and he's got four or five on goal too. Finley's
been very active. Here's Christians in the defenseman walks down
the left wing wall, hands off down to Lubris, shoves
it back behind the net. Falan takes it from there,
breakout past Morrissey. He scoots their open ice right through
(55:57):
the center circle. Gavin Morrissey. Two on three. Morrisey now
shoots one from a tough angle, gloves saved by Sergiev
and he hangs on twenty one to ten shots on
goal in favor of Wisconsin. But Penn State still has
a one nothing advantage. Yeah, they do.
Speaker 5 (56:12):
And the Badgers have had good shots, not great shots,
but good shots. And I think that the lack of
power play shots is the difference in the game so
far tonight. Yeah, the Badgers three power plays tonight over
a nine minute span, had only four shots on goal.
Based off to Sergiev's right Chriszgerald with Liskowski and Kukinan.
Speaker 3 (56:37):
This was the original second line on Mike Hastings chart
and again Rylan Moseley kicked out of the game about
seven minutes into the first period because of a five
minute major for head contact. Joe Polata chuck back in
his own zone, turns away from pressure, still has possession,
then gave it away. Look out a blast by Doeyak
went wide. Wisconsin has coughed it up far too many
(56:59):
time times in its own zone and I lucky to
be down only one nothing. Scarfooni has made some nice
saves here this evening, cooking in near side wall battling Ford.
It's lifted out to center deck Szeimer brings it down
and sends it deep. Sergia, though looks over his left shoulder,
hands off to Crespow and the defenseman will break things
out for Penn State. Here's Keaton Peters, former Milwaukee junior admiral.
(57:24):
Mister Peters played for the Janesville Jets briefly back in
the twenty twenty two to twenty three season. He lost
possession of the puck the Badgers dumping in. Shoal gives
Chase got a stick on it and then it carry
him in the mid air and Jeneev, now for Penn State,
has outlet pass deflected and Shoal gobbles it up. Sawyer
will scoop it ahead. Hensler will watch it go to
(57:45):
the corner. Tyson Dick tries to retrieve it there and
then it's given away and Pat stains got at three
on one with Jania right wing down the middle Fink
Shaneev shoots one, saved by Scarfoni. There was a rebound there,
but Scarfoni poked it ahead. Now Wisconsin's deck one on one,
try to make a most step off a shot certain
with a stop and they break it out angling a
pass near side the Shania taps it off to the
(58:07):
defenseman on and his shot. Good recovery by shoals that
goes off the stick into the mesh, stopping play. Five
twenty eight to go in the second still won nothing.
Ntney lyons, I don't think either coach is very pleased
with that style of play. Loan breaks three on one's
near breakaways hail mary passes that are caught not really
(58:28):
in the coaching manual I don't think here for the
big ten no based off to the left of Tommy Scarfoni,
who's now stopped ten of eleven Penn State shots on goal.
This is a Ntney Lyons team that's five to two
and three in its last ten games, includes a home
sweep of Caniches with playing much better after an O
and a start to the conference campaign. Badgers break out
(58:51):
Care up the middle, Care wide right. Tassie. His shot
stung the defenseman Christiansen. Morrissey retrieves it far corner, now
cycles for Fit back behind the net. Quinn Finley nineteen
goals for nineteen. Care has it out by the blue line,
skates away from the pressure from Demarcico and flips it
back deep again. Tassi, now in the corner, protects the puck.
(59:13):
Finley in a battle with Serrato and then tied up
by Wee Bush. He gets a little bit of support
from Tassi before the Nitney Lions come out of there
with it. Bass Rice intercepted by Morrissey, pass intended for
Finley in the slot, went off of Skate and the
Badgeris will try again now Falin to Finley and Finley
will sweep it in four and a half minutes left
(59:33):
in the second, one nothing, Penn State lin Mark in
the offensive zone with Horbach, he just got squashed in
the n boards. Finley long ship for him out to
Falin straightaway, shoals his shot easy leaning left, saved by
Arseni Sergiev and he hangs on. Sergiev, a seventh round
draft pick of the Calgary Flames a few years ago,
(59:54):
started his collegiate career at Yukon, played there for a
couple of years, won nineteen games in two years, had
a nine to twelve save percentage. Its tenth straight start
since kissing seven straight games with an injury. And you
talk to the Penn State people and the reason they're
now playing well is because he's Harcetis Sergei of his
(01:00:17):
back in goal. Yeah, seems to be quite a consistent
trend for everybody in college hockey. You have a good goaltender,
you're going to play well in front of them. Yeah,
good things happened. Four fifteen to go in the second,
Badger's still scoreless. Wisconsin scored only one goal last Saturday
(01:00:39):
at Minnesota. That was with an extra attacker. Badger's had
two even strength goals at Minnesota scoring in the first period.
Both of them then went five consecutive periods without an
even strength goal, just a extra attacker, late golf and
offside call icing called on Wisconsin. It's going to be
a late icing call, Dan, and a little surprised by that,
(01:01:02):
but icing it is, and they'll drop the pup back
in the Wisconsin zone to our left with three point
fifty four to go here in the second period. But
you know, Mike Hastings had talked about it too. They
you know, on Friday, they were possessing the pup, playing
so well in the opening period, making Minnesota defend. Badgers
were up to nothing, and then things changed, giving up
(01:01:22):
odd man rushes far too many Badgers kind of on Saturday,
much better defensively. It's scoreless for fifteen minutes in that
hockey game before the Gophers broke it open long range
shot by Shade off the outstretched stick of Tommy Scarfoni.
But the offense, he said, became disconnected. They're so spread
(01:01:42):
out instead of working together in five man units from
the forwards on down to the defense and then back
the other way. Long passes, stretch passes, just not connecting,
no synergy, offensively and we saw that in Minnesota last Saturday,
and so far here tonight the same at least no
finish here. Badgers have had some quality looks, yeah they.
Speaker 5 (01:02:03):
Have, and uh not as golden as some of the
opportunities that I watched at Minnesota. There was some significant
scoring opportunities that goaltending was.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
A difference, harder shade with a good physical play deep
in the Penn stage zone to win the puck Anthony
Ker turns out Fitzgerald coughed it up look out Think
with it coming in low lap. Great recovery by Fitzgerald.
He dove to poke the puck off the stick of
Think before he could get a shot off, and that's
a nineteen goal scorer Aden Fink. Badgers have the puck.
(01:02:35):
Excellent effort by Fitzgerald, circles out near the slot and
almost coughed it up and dead and Wisconsin s Hensler
pulled down Carson Dick penalty on the Badger's freshman defenseman
after the mistake made by Fitzgerald. Christian recovered from an
original mistake and then made another there try to stick
handle through traffic. It would have been a bust out
(01:02:56):
otherwise yep.
Speaker 5 (01:02:57):
It would have been pretty much a clear break for
the Penn State player. But and again I'm not one
hundred percent sure how to say that. I looked at
Aiden Fink after that play. It was a great play
by Christian Fitzgerald to dive and just slash the fuck.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Out from underneath of him.
Speaker 5 (01:03:16):
There was no body contact, there was no and Aiden
Fink's looking at the referee like.
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Why isn't that a penalty? Well, because it's not.
Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
But then to turn around and make a second mistake
right here at the blue line, you put your freshman
defenseman in harm's way.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
That's a tough situation. So Henzler for hooking at seventeen
to nineteen to add, youw shorthanded for the second time tonight,
the first one they had to kill off a five
minute major to Ryland Mosley. Excellent work below the goal line,
middle of the ice breakout Morrissey shoal Gavin just taking
his time demanding the puck and then he scoops it
down to the corner and it's moving ever so slowly
(01:03:53):
and now Ahman will pick it up for Penn State.
Drew's down a goal two fifteen to go on the
second to Marcia across the line, double team on the
far wall, battling Ford shoals off the wall. Quick snapshot
that goes wide. That went off the stick of Matt Demarcico.
Now out to Serrato left point down a wee bush
the Verona native Serrato straightaway. Amen, now back to Serrado
(01:04:17):
left circle, looking here is we bush. He wanted to
backspin and carry it to the net. Actually Scarfoni took
himself out of the play, fell down, but we bush
mishandled the punk. Good work by lin Mark to poke
it away from Amen and Sergei have had to come
out of his net to move it around to the
near side. And then lynn Mark accidentally knocked down the
Penn State gold Center. We play on ninety seconds to
(01:04:38):
go until the second intermission. Won nothing Penn State. Kinney
lyons on a power play. Do we act with it right?
Hash marks out to the point in Mac and it's
te to law back and he fired it too high,
battling far side shoal against Fink. Jennie with it down
low pass could stick by care to deflect it to
(01:04:59):
the corner. Now he's working for it near side and
gets the puck and clears with a backhand. Twenty five
seconds left in the Penn State power play. I always get.
Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
Worried and situated. Too many near misses. Yeah for Penn State.
And one minute to go on the period. Here's Hiniev
now with it, hands off the law back and he'll
fire it in off the wall. Dowe act double team.
Badgers take it away Fitzgerald de Morrissey. Morrissey at the.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Red line, two nitny lions on him, try to get
a deep, failed to do so originally got it done
this second time, and the Badgers have killed off Penn
State second power play, so both teams at full strength.
Thirty five seconds to go in the second period, Wisconsin
still down one nothing. Scarfoni wax it to the far
side and Tassie head Man's to Shoal Finley almost a
(01:05:45):
nifty catch behind his back, taken away by Penn State.
Pucket then set it deep. Carson Dick beat Pilanachuck to
the ashmarks. We play on no icink. Fifteen seconds to
go on the period, Penn State in the Wisconsin zone.
Crespo shoots one hit in front, ricocheted below the goal
line to the far corner. Pullata chuck backhands for Care.
Seven seconds left. Finley, now with it pressured, got some
(01:06:08):
help from Care to get some open ice. One second
to go. Finley from the red line shoots it low,
easy save for Sergiev and that's it for period number two.
The Badgers held the Nitney Alliance to only six shots
on goal for the second straight period while peppering Sergiev
fourteen times. But our Sinni Sergiev is shutting out the Badgers.
(01:06:30):
It's Penn State one, Wisconsin nothing after two periods of play.

Nothing's Penn State leads Wisconsin after two periods of play.
The long goal, scored in the first period three minutes
and ten seconds in by Reese Lowback, is eleventh of
the year. Badgers have had three power plays tonight for
nine minutes, only four shots on goal in those nine
minutes of banded vantage hockey. Penn State oh for two
on the power play seven minutes of banded vantage hockey.
(01:08:21):
They haven't been able to muster much either. Tommy Scarfoni
has stopped eleven of twelve Penn State shots tonight, and
our Senni Sergia a perfect twenty two for twenty two
for Penn State.
Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
Yeah, he's been good, I mean, but I will honestly say,
I don't think that there have been a significant amount
of like pure scoring opportunities. Have been a couple they're
wishing Bob Luok a half the seventieth birthday if only
he knew, only they knew.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
His birthdays tomorrow. Look, sorry, twenty nine and counting long
time play. That's what he called that, sir. Here yep, yep.
But again, I get back to the to the game
situation where there haven't been a lot of point blank
scoring opportunities, and that's got to be frustrating for both
coaching staffs in the sense that they've had so many
(01:09:13):
power play minutes, right, I mean, it's not like.
Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
They didn't haven't had time to set it up or
get the opportunity to have powerplay shots, but for whatever reason,
very few if any are making.
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
It to the net. So the Badger's down one nothing
after two periods of play. We'll check the Big ten
scoreboard when we come back. This is Badger hockey from
their fields.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
Menager Hockey is proved to you by you, w helped
sports Medicine, treating the Badgers, treating you, and buy cee Geek.
Ce Geek is the official ticketing board BURO. The Wisconsin
Badgers find tickets to vaguer games and more. See d
each time to drop the punt for the third period.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
By at Hoosick and tarn here at the Polls Center.
Badg down one nothing as we start the third and
Mike Hastings continues to shuffle his forward lines. Now Tyson
Dick centering Cody Luskowski and Simon Tassi Again the Badgers
minus their second leading scorer, Ryland Moseley, kicked out of
the game in the opening period for head contact. Tyson Dick,
spinning at center ice, just got tripped up and lost
(01:10:19):
the pucket. Clear tripping in my opinion, nothing called. We
play on Tyson Dick up in the middle of the
ice and a nice pass ahead Here Isleskowski off Bluelins
fired one too high to could hustle far side, can't
hold his own. Badgers go to get it. Anthony Kerr
no look d to d pass for Hensler behind him.
And then Logan had to hustle after it and he
(01:10:41):
turned to play it up. The wallet went off of
sticking out of play thirty seven seconds into the third period.
Penn State with a one nothing lead. Defensively, and the
Badgers have done their job allowing only twelve shots on
goal through forty minutes tonight. Yeah it is.
Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
And if you take a look at the goal that
they gave up, call it a freak goal out of anomaly,
whatever you want to call it. But it wasn't a
great goal. And when the Badgers have had good scoring opportunities,
they haven't been able to result in goals.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Now they've allowed only one shot on goal now two
to aid and think they're leading goal scorer with nineteen
After a face off, think from the goal line right side.
Not much mustard on that shot, easy save for Scarfhony
face off to Scarf Phony's left. Badger's trailing one nothing
here in the third period of play, Morrissey out there
(01:11:30):
with Finley and Fitzgerald still battling for the face off,
and the Badgers win the draw. Plata chuck breaks out
far side wall, Finley will chase it down at center.
Morrissey following up able to get control. Finley to Morrisse
tries to snap a shot or pass in front of
Fitzgerald was cutting left wing towards the front of the
net that went off as sticking out of play. So
(01:11:52):
a face off inside the Penn state zone won nothing.
Nitney lyons fifty five seconds into the third one of
the things that well, I shouldn't say, we'll be detrimental.
There will be a downfall for this line. With Fitzgerald
out there instead of Rylan Mosley. You get into a
situation where those three guys just seem to know where
everybody was, no matter sure who they were playing against,
(01:12:16):
or what line they were playing against, or what the
situation of. Now you have to start to think a
little bit, or has he lost the offensive zone? Face off?
Puck is in the Penn stage, Zell and they'll go
d to d Amanda Shade left laying pass and tended
for Peters underneath his stick, and Finley had his head down,
otherwise he may have been able to pick up the
loose puck and race into the offensive zone. Now Finley
(01:12:38):
steals near the Badger's line, Fitzgerald slows the puck and
scoops it in ninety seconds gone by in the third
won nothing. Penn states Lynn mark In on the fore check,
puck out at center, reaching for it is Falan, after
it is Finley, Finley, try to whack it back deep.
No lock there, boy Quinn with a couple of really
(01:12:59):
long shifts in the latter part of the second period.
In here in period number three as well, he's got
the I think the stamina to to stay out there
a little longer than some others.
Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
Yeah, now you'll get a change because it's not anywhere
clear to an open break.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Yeah, Crespo gains the line and from the right half
boards fires one at scar Phony easy say for Tommy
and he hangs on. Only fourteen shots on goal for
Penn State. Here. You know you were talking about alumni.
There was another alumni you were excited about. My favorite,
Carson Mantle scored his first goal.
Speaker 5 (01:13:39):
As a Grand Rapids Griffin in the American Hockey League
and resulted in a brawl after the goal.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
It's like, seriously, that couldn't happen to anybody else. The
Fantle and the Griffins are at in Milwaukee playing the
Admirals this weekend. Buck Lucid the Badger's blue line. Pladachuk
has it, looked to his right, almost gave it away,
then lost control helping out linn Market's knocked off the glass.
Horback tries to pick it up over skating Kuchinin and
(01:14:09):
the puck just bouncing around out of control. And now
Charlie Serrado's got it for Penn State right wing. It's
wee Bush tried to force it in. Dex Seimer got
in his way centering pass broken up by Wisconsin. Dex
Sheimer now angles a pass head to Arbock, weaves his
way to center ice cross the Penn State line. One
on three to the corner top angled shot right through
(01:14:31):
the crease bit air bad pass, Henster taking away lawback.
Two on one lawback right wing looking looking shooting one
low saf mate Scarfhony rebound was there for the Marzcoeny
fan on it big stop for star Phony. Now it's
centering pass, bouncing around off the sticking body of Shoal
gathered in my Sawyer's Shoal. Three on two to our left.
(01:14:51):
Shoal will dump it in, hoping piano it can get
there first, but their defenseman Amen does and gets it
out the lawback who chops it off the boards and
out center and then falan and lost the puck in
his skates and whistle and off side called on Penn
State sixteen thirty seven to go on. The third still
won nothing, Penn State. Ouch Hey. Speaking of alumni Ryan Suitor, tomorrow,
(01:15:15):
we're playing his fifteen hundred career NHL game, only the
third player, third former NCAA player to play fifteen hundred
NHL games, currently with Saint Louis. They'll be playing the Blackhawks.
Can you name the other two players that played in
the NCAA that went on to play over fifteen hundred
NHL games, Kelley, you gotta be one of them. Kelly's
(01:15:37):
number one, sixteen fifty one. One other person just recently retired.
Penn State with a puck in the defensive zone, reaching
bad for Galucchi. Nope, now down right corner. Tassy looking in,
tried to force it to Dick. Oh. It went through
the bloo Peyton, then back it came in front of
Sergi eb and then back to his left Tyson. Dick
was right there, just couldn't pump the thing in.
Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
It's like about the fifth time that he's had that
opportunity down low.
Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Also, Scholz batted the puck hand pass now waved off
fling out at neutral ice after it packs away from
pressure from Penn State. But the buck on the stick
of Carson Dick. His shot was blocked and Wisconsin's Tyson
Dick now with it. No relation to Carson Dick from Lethidge, Alberta.
(01:16:23):
Tyson is from Abbotsford, British Columbia, and he steals the
puck centering pass behind Finley. He was cutting into the
net a lot of chuck now goal line left penaly
coming up. It's on Wisconsin Finley for interfering with the bucket.
Penn State will get a power play. He's seen thirty
seven left them a third.
Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
Just as Joe made his move to the outside, Finley
just stepped in front of the Penn State player and
had some contact with him. Interference call relatively intercinc.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
Interference on Finley at four twenty three.
Speaker 5 (01:16:53):
I think it's time for the horback Lindmark shorthanded show
to us dark that would be all right as innocent
as that play seen by comparison to some of the
other penalties that.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Were Adre's won the face off and they will clear
Horbock all the way down, pull out of chuck with care.
Lin Mark steels behind the Penn State net and then
Mac walls them off, allowing Aiden Fink to get the product.
Lookout for this kid Nashville Predators draft choice a couple
of years ago. Aiden Fink sweeps it around in the
left wing wall. Linn Mark able to cancel out the
(01:17:30):
stick of lawback cocin and a d tod pass Mac
near side. Think good stick by Horback to deflect that
allows the Badgers to get fresh penalty killers. After Linn
Mark had lost his broken stick. Now horback in his
own zone, tried to clear off the skate stays in
the Wisconsin in over five minutes gone by. In the
(01:17:53):
third Penn State leading one nothing and on a power play,
Mac now walks the line. The right handed defenseman far side.
Law can't get a shot off pass to Fink behind him.
Think that'll try to get a little cute, but the
backhand passed to the point and broken up by Morrissey,
taken back by Fink, drop Pashania. He skates right over
the puck. Now down to the corner. It's dooeak far
(01:18:14):
side lawback point man On and his shot got through
and gloving it with Scarfoni and he hangs on. Fifty
one seconds to go in the power play for Penn
State Nitney Lions lead. The Badgers won nothing still relatively
early here in the third period. The other NCAA player
to play over fifteen hundred games, Matt Cullen, Oh yeah,
Sat Cloud's st Cloud. Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:18:37):
The Culen name was pretty much synonymous with Minnesota hockey
James this time sure face off to the right of Scarfoni,
Horbach and Linn Mark back out there.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Badgers have won only twelve of twenty six face offs. Tonight,
the Badgers Pullata Chuck. They were running a face off
play after lind Mark won to drop a lot of
truck trying to much passed to Porbock off the wall,
but Penn State read the play here comes to Marcico.
Now we push back to Themarcico that can't shot stop
(01:19:08):
by Scarfhony. Just lift it over the left pad of
the Badger's netminer. Good given go that time though by Penn.
Speaker 5 (01:19:15):
State, and Penn State ended up icing the puck on
behalf of the Badgers YEP. Twenty seconds to go on
the Nitney Lions power play. Still one nothing, Penn State
Serado will dump it in. Scarfhoni stops it up off
the high glass, bounces to Morrissey, he'll gather come ahead
with it, peels back, hands off, shoals d to d
the Falan Finley ready to come out of the box.
(01:19:37):
And two one the Badgers back at full strength. Three
for three on a penalty kill. Wisconsin down one nothing
and now Falen.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Just ie the puck a freshman mistake as the Badgers
just got back to full strength, and I'm not sure
Jack recognized that, and so Penn State it's an offensive
zone face off leading one nothing, thirteen thirty one left in.
Speaker 5 (01:19:59):
The third must have had his hearing he turned down
because mister look announced that quite proficiently. Badger's now at
full strength.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Yes, based off the Scarfhony's left or a scene against
Peters and the Badgers want to draw up bad breakout
and there's Dick that picked it up for Penn State.
Easy sticks a for Scarfhony now from the near wall.
Pucket his shot directed to the corner by Scarfhony model
then blocks the shot of the defenseman shade, but Penn
(01:20:29):
State dumps it back in. Padgers need to settle down
here a little bit. People playing with people that are
not used to playing with Sometimes it takes a little time.
So Henzler behind the net. Pair defensively right now with
deck Seimer. You're Sawyer Shoal up to center. He'll scoop
it in. Piet In on the fore check makes contact
(01:20:52):
with lawbacks centering pass intercepted by Janiev and look out
Penn State flying the other way. Think middle of the ice,
left wing. Now it's macked. Get a back canter off
canceled out by deck Shimer. Loose puck up ahead of Piela,
hands off the bottle l He moves to his left
across the Penn State line, hard of the Necho's Piela
shot off the side of the net. Bottlerel tries to
retree behind the cage. Tyson Dick down the wall, chipped
(01:21:15):
it over for himself, trying to ticket to the net.
Now he's open. It's just one. Sergi've made the stop.
Speaker 5 (01:21:19):
It's like the ninth point blank shot that Tyson Dick
has had tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
He's gonna get one. Here is Janiev now and he
fires one as he gains the line, and he whistled
it wide think now long range stop by Scarfoni, and
the puck ricocheted off him, off of skate and back
to the Badgers netminer, who covers with twelve thirteen to go.
Here in the third one nothing, Penn State Reese lawback
scored three minutes and ten seconds into the game. That's
(01:21:44):
been it tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:21:46):
Yeah, it's been kind of a tic tac toetha in
the third period. Except for the power play that Penn
State had, it's been pretty much guarded hockey. I don't
think there's been a lot of over excitement on either
team to try and break this deadlock.
Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
Penn State wins the face off. Crespo shot through the
legs of his teammate Dick went off his stick and
then wide Pullata Chuck behind the net, can't find it,
look out pass to the slot, kick free by Kukon
and he gathers it in and moves ahead with it.
To our left comes Kyle Kuchenen. A little backhand passed
towards the net, got all the way through, Sergia moved
it to the corner. Warbock tied up far side by
(01:22:25):
Glucci and now it squirts free into Graves hasard for
Penn State up to Lucas and he'll scoop it in
eleven forty five left in the third, Badger's down to
one ice worked far side by Kuchan in to free
the putt for horback with Linn Mark two on four.
Jack needs a break, he'll send it to the corner.
Linn Mark had it for a moment and then turned
(01:22:46):
into trouble and lost possession. And now Demarcico tries to clear.
Played by a high stick from Finley. We play on
his Penn State now controls it's aman deep into Wisconsin zone.
Tried to hand off to Serrato book hope free Kuchenan's
got it for Wisconsin. Veers to his right and then
carried towards the Badger's bench by Demarcico. Steal by Finley
(01:23:07):
out near the blue line, sweeps it right winging Morrissey,
nice catch, backside pass Henzler, tough angle. He'll throw it fine.
Then at Finley wants it, Morrissey can't get it to him.
He'll try again slot pass. Here's suls his shot never
got off good stick by Rebush that time the Verona
native to cancel out Shoals' bid. Now Finley across the
line looking for help. Finley's stick candling fires it down
(01:23:30):
to the corner. Christiansen able to beat Fitzgerald of the puck.
Lawback now tied up by Fitzgerald, that frees the biscuit
for Morrissey. His centering pass brought by Christiansen outlet the
fank too far and Shoals back in his own zone
with a little bit of time and space. Although Fink
applying pressure ten twenty eight left in the third one
nothing Penn states bad pass Fitzgerald to Finley as the
(01:23:53):
Badgers attempted to break out. Finn took the buck away.
It's out at s and now Dowiak mishandles and the
Badgers gave it right back. Here's Dane Doiak left Header
across the line, tries to walk in on Shoals, got
him down. Stop made by Scarfhoni, who then covers ac
was on his heels. Doiak took him to the rim
(01:24:15):
if you will, and got a weak shot off of Scarfhony.
Speaker 5 (01:24:18):
Able to stop and we definitely needed that. Whistles Actuals
tried to pass it to two people that weren't there. Yeah,
on that initial breakout right at the blue line, and
it's when it's right on the blue line like that,
that's a dangerous, dangerous place to turn over the puck.
Quinn Finley just keeps getting more frustrated every shift. He
just seemed to be able to make that pinpoint pass
(01:24:38):
or get that pinpoint shot.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
Badgers have been out shot ten to two in the
third period, still down one nothing based off win for
the Badgers. Pull out of truck, thanks it out to
center defenseman mishandles it. Tassy comes in low let back,
can't shot, fought off with the right shoulder by Sergei.
Out of the Tassi got clattered into the inn boards.
Penalty coming up on Penn States Jason Galucci and was Johnson.
(01:25:00):
We'll get a cutest power play with a chance to
tie when we come back. Penn State leads want nothing.
Missus Bacher hockey from airfield.

It is a proud sponsor at Badger Athletics and reminds

needs at BNAR. Badger's get a Cutest power play Trailing
one nothing nine to fifty four to go in the third.
This is a big one here in.
Speaker 5 (01:26:33):
Yeah, it is, And it's an opportunity that I didn't
think was going to happen because both teams were playing
so evenly and not taking any chances and uh just
kind of I don't know. Simon stepped on his stick
or stepped on the puck or whatever it is, but
it caused him to go down.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
Ben State's done a nice job on the penalty kill though,
three for three so far, having killed off nine minutes
of power play hockey, and they win the draw. Send
it all the way down the ice on goals and
Scarfhoni had to face a bouncing puck on in. He
juggled it a bit and then had to grab it
to secure it. And a face off coming up inside
(01:27:12):
the Wisconsin zone Alucci for tripping at ten o six.
Speaker 5 (01:27:16):
By the way, that was a Cellios type yeah esque
type shot down for when you're shorthanded face off to
the right of Scarfhony Gavin Morrissey about fifty seven percent
of the face off circle this season preached lawback about
fifty The Badgers win this draw again, Top two face
(01:27:37):
off teams in the country. Here tonight, here's Morrissey now
moves his way into the offensive zone.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
Looked like Finley was off side, and then that passed
back to the point and Fitzgerald unable to play it
because of the defensive pucket, and so the Badgers have
to regroup at center. Passed far side dex Sheimer intended
for Finley. That was a bouncing pass that Finley couldn't handle.
And Penn State clears. Almost looks like they're getting ahead
of themselves a little bit, yes, rushing things almost no,
(01:28:06):
Ryan Mosley, Rylan Mosley makes a difference, Yep. Hensler waits
behind his net. Minute tend to go on the power play.
He's been standing there for a few seconds now, and
I'll pass up the middle to Tyson Dick. Dick across
the line Wisconsin on side. Dick Waiting throws a pass
out to the point. Nice catch by Hensler. Back pass
intended for kucanin left wing. Good stick by Pucket to
(01:28:27):
prevent that pass from getting through, and it's all the
way back into the Wisconsin zone. And Ian Parent's getting
a little frustrated with the team and Cardinal and White now.
Ryan Borel at center. Eight thirty five to go on
the third Badger's trailing won nothing. Only thirty eight seconds
left in the power play. They've yet to get a
shot on goal in this man advantage. Fuck is loose
(01:28:49):
below the Penn State goal line. Dick down to his knees.
Kukanin good work along the end boards battling Cresbow. Cresbow
won that battle and then muscled it past Tensler and
all the way down eighteen seconds to go on the
power play. Pensler picks it up and skates ahead with it,
although he fans off to his right. Fresh off the bench,
(01:29:10):
Gavin Morrissey right wing passed behind Finley. He'll take it,
skate back out to center five seconds, darts off to
his right past two Nitney lions across the lion looking
left side, Plada Chuck tried to put it in front
block by mac pen State kills off the power play,
both teams at full strength seven to forty five left.
Piladachuck tried to fire one from the blue line on
(01:29:31):
a one timer, fan on it and then he dives
and takes down we Bush on a potential breakaway penalty
on Pldachuck, who throws his stick in disgusts broken also
because he has to. But Polada Chuck fanned a shot,
may have broken his stick in the process, and then
we Bush busted out and plada Chuck tripped him and
(01:29:53):
no penalty shot. We Bush wanted one, there is none
to come. Instead, Penn state, We'll get a power play
twelve nineteen. The time of the penalty to.
Speaker 5 (01:30:00):
Plata Chuck Yes, an unfortunate time to take it and h.
Regardless of what the outcome of tonight's game is, both
teams power plays have looked relatively anemic.
Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Penn State long range shot off the stick and carams
midair down to the right wing wall. Aid in genea
no pedalty called Car goes diving trying to get the
puck out of the zeone and eventually it came free
to Horbach, who lifts it all the way down. That's
the nicest saucer pass I've seen in a long time.
Plata Chuck for tripping at twelve nineteen. Penn State shaneev
(01:30:39):
Wawback zips it around to the right wing wall, Dowie
Act to the corner in Fink tried to feed Shaniev
instead Felan had an angle to the puck. Who'll get
to the far corner. Dowie Act falls down, the puck
is still loose and then jammed all the way down
and the Badgers get fresh penalty killers a minute ten
(01:30:59):
to go on the Penn State power play twenty two
and eighteen, yep Lyn Mark. They're looking for some magic
now when Lynn Mark out there had a heck of
a career short handed with Jack horback the last few years.
They pump it out to Lucas straightaway, long range shot
got through. It's Ru's all Scarfrony, excellent stop at s
Lou's in front of Scarfhoni. Is he gotten knocked down
(01:31:21):
by two of his teammates. He made two excellent saves.
Scarfroni backup on his skates. Here's Demarciico hit shot blocked
by Karen Cleared. Ooh, Penn State was knocking on the
door and Scarfrooni wouldn't let him in.
Speaker 5 (01:31:33):
Yep, and he had to make some acrobatic saves too.
It wasn't like he was just playing the angle. And
they cough it up at center ice and Falan sends
it down. Maybe this will get the Badgers going offensively
if they can find a way to kill this off
under six minutes to go, fifteen seconds left in the
(01:31:54):
Penn State power play. They skate into the Wisconsin zone
and turn it over and the Badger's clear. Eight seconds
to go on the man advantage. When you're down one
nothing and you've got Jack Valen and he does a
great job of intercepting the pass and then turns around
and just fires it down the ice. It's one of
those times where I wish they'd just unleash them a.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Lot of chucks. Penalty is over. Here's Crespow long range
shot that hit traffic. Carer then goes shoulder to shoulder
with Pucket and the puck comes free to Gavin Morrissey.
They'll back handed around to care As the Badgers look
to exit their zone. They do a nice tape to
tape pass to Finley, but then he juggled it a
bit from behind. Peters may have knocked it free. Here's
(01:32:35):
Keaton Peters, the Sussex, Wisconsin native, up to center. Think
now with it ran into Wisconsin's Fitzgerald, who takes the
puck away. Five minutes left in regulation. Badger's down won nothing.
It's been like this all season, folks, Tight games every
single game. Tassy passed behind Finley too far in front
(01:32:56):
of dex Sheimer. Finley picks it up, his shot blocked
by Christiansen. Now dex Shimer range shot not down in
front Fitzgerald. The Tessie swings and missus on a pass
in tight from Fitzgerald. Oh, that was the golden goose
right there. Now clear it out. Here's Janie. Have two
on two for Penn State. Make it three on two,
make it four on two. Here's lawback now back behind
(01:33:16):
the net. Right hander throws it out to the point
too far. His Penn State will need a change here.
Eventually they'll get one. Four and a half minutes left
one nothing. Nitney lyons goodness, golden opportunity. Yep. They had
a couple of chances. Long range shot that Fitzgerald knocked
down shoulder high with his stick, and then he whiffed
at the bouncing puck. But then on the next attempt
(01:33:38):
he pushed it right to Tassie on the doorstep and
just didn't make contact with a puck. Four minutes left,
bottle at center. Penn State content with just having four
guys wide at their own blue line. Yep. And now
it's nudged out to center. Hustling after it on and right.
He had a defenseman right wing, passed to wee Bush
out of his reach. Wisconsin shoals now with it to
(01:34:00):
Marcaco on him wee Bush as well. Three forty five
left on the third the Badgers early this season had
a hard time putting the puck away. Now here's a
turnover at center. Ice koking in with it across the line,
looking looking what's he gonna do? Puts it down behind
the net to bottle, tied up by Christensen Tyson. Dick
moves in to take the puck away. Referee in his way. Dick,
(01:34:22):
now tied up from behind by the Graves three twenty
five left in the third, scounts him down one nothing.
Badgers hold his own deck. Seimer walks the line a
little bit, backpedaling and looking, calling for the puck. Here's Piedla.
His shot block by Mac didn't get through. Christiansen tries
to chip it out. Piedla tackles a man. We play
on deck. Sheimer racing for the who's puck? He's got it?
(01:34:44):
Pass intended for Horbock off, The stick went mid air
and we Bush had it, and then from behind Horbock
picked his pocket took the puck. Here comes Horbock with
speed across the line, trying to get around Christiansen and
does behind the net centering pass off a stick or
two and gathered in by Doweak on the back check
hornbock a to win the puck free for the Badgers.
Can they get it deep No, bouncing around to the
(01:35:04):
Penn State line and now Pucket's got it gains the
red line. Ran into two badgers, one being Horback who
knocked him down. Here's Polta chuck now to thirty five
to go in the third badgers need one to tie.
Plada chuck harder than net, trying to sweep it in front.
Dead No one home for the Badgers. Here's Finley turn
around shot from the right point. That's Brock Plada chuck
after it. Can't get to it. Pucket tries to clear cannot.
(01:35:26):
Finley holds looking looking, shooting off a stick and ricochets
in the near corner. Now Shade will lip that up
off the glass and out to Neutrarice. Badgers get after
it Nitney Lions in the midst of a change oryci
two ten to go gets round one man and another
tries to go shark side and Sergiev where the pads
saved cleared all the way down. Scarf Phony out of
his net for an extra attacker. Penn State missed the
(01:35:48):
net by a few feet anice the puck coach two
two to go in the third one nothing Nitney Lions
offensive zone face off coming up for the Wisconsin Badgers. Well,
we'll see whether he uses his time out to set
up some sort of a sequence, but I doubt if
that will be the case because they've kind of got
him on the ropes right now. Yeah, and when you've
(01:36:09):
got momentum on your side, don't play with it. Keep
it running. I was wondering a tense statement called time out,
but I think Mike Hastings is going to Yeah, I'm
pretty sure time out Wisconsin two two to go in regulation.
Badger's down a goal with an extra attacker back in

Speaker 5 (01:38:33):
At least in hockey we play right. I thought it
was interesting that that was his perspective.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
You know, we were talking before about how the Badgers
got out of the gate so slowly this season and
just struggled putting the puck away. That was the case
at Minnesota last week. And in fact, the Badgers when
they scored two goals or less this season are one
twelve and two, one twelve and two, so fifteen times,
and he's had a twenty eight games they scored two
(01:39:01):
goals or less. Yeah, there's not a lot of biscuit
bangers here, no, all right, Lynn Mark, Tassy, Fitzgerald, Finley,
Dexheimer and Morrissey extra attacker. Badgers need one to tie
offensive zone face off one by Wisconsin. Finley out to
the point, dex Sheimer now left wing. It's Morrissey back
straight away, dex Seimer right wing. Finley looking shot blocked
(01:39:24):
right back to his stick. Dex Sheimer center point, left wing.
Morrissey now surveys down to the goal line. Fitzgerald Tassy
working for room in front Fitzgerald right wing Finley. A
minute forty to go on the third, Badger's down a goal.
Here's dex Seimer passed to Finley out of his reach
and comes out through center ice and the fans frustrated
as is my yes partner. Here Dexheimer at the red
(01:39:47):
line heaves it in Christiansen after it. Badgers had numbers
on the far wall. Linn Mark then lifted the stick
of Dyak and Penn State gets to the puck and
clears and iced it. With one fifteen team to go
in the third period, let's pause ten seconds for station identification,
ten seconds for legal ID. You're listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey.
(01:40:08):
Nothing Penn State one fifteen left in the third Here
in Madison, extra attacker for the Badgers try to pull even.
Penn State wins the face off rims and around and
out again. The Nitney Lions the number one face off
team in the country at fifty six percent. Here's Hensler.
Now for the Badgers. The freshman dumps it in in
pursuit is Dick. Christensen gets there able to move it
(01:40:29):
to the near side wall. The Badgers try to dig
it out from there. Pensler Pullata Chuck Kuchenan out there
with Botterrel and Dick and Liskowski. Penn State takes the problem,
clears it all the way down. It's gonna hit the
empty net, Aiden think with an empty net goal with
forty five seconds left. That was just crawling to the
(01:40:50):
Badger's cage and eventually crossed Pet State with a two
to nothing lead.
Speaker 5 (01:40:57):
That's the icing on the cake for the Penn State. Lyons,
you can guarantee yourself that. And it was a good
rugby scrum down in the far corner. You remember when
the Badgers played Michigan and we were down in that
far corner and they ended up eating ten twelve fourteen
seconds left on the clock.
Speaker 3 (01:41:18):
Ayden Fink, it's the empty net goal at nineteen fifteen.
That's his twentieth goal of the season. And Penn State
with a two to nothing lead lead fed the Badgers
hustling after it. Piedlo trying to reach rimmed the round
of the near side, Shoals able to hold for a second. Now,
let's flip back towards the Penn State net, taking thereby
(01:41:38):
Crespo outlet to wee bush and they'll just rag the
puck in their own zone fifteen seconds to go. Well,
the Badgers were down one point to Michigan for fourth

Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
The paron Ryan Posik here at the Coal Center. Out
of the last four games, Penn State starting goal center
are Seni Sergiev had given up eighteen goals and had
an eight sixty nine save percentage. But tonight Sergiev stopped
all twenty six shots he faced for his fourth shutout
of the year, and the Badgers were shut out for
the first time this season. Penn State prevails two to nothing.
(01:47:09):
Wisconsin now one five and one in its last seven
Big Ten games and falls to six twelve and one
in the league, eleven fifteen and three overall. Penn State
improves to thirteen eleven and three, four ten and three
in league play, and with the three points here tonight,
Penn State now with seventeen points, still seven points behind
(01:47:31):
Wisconsin for fifth place, but two games in hand. The
Badgers now dropped four points behind Michigan for fourth place
in the Big Ten. You know it's again, We've we've
seen this at times this season. Badgeris have having issues
putting the puck in the back of the net. You
credit our Senny Sergeiev here tonight, but I know they're
(01:47:51):
going to be lamenting their power play all night. Yeah
they are.
Speaker 5 (01:47:54):
And and you also get in a situation where the
temperament of the game changed.
Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
For one.
Speaker 5 (01:48:00):
I mean, if you take a look at the shots
on goal in the second period, the Badgers rip off
fourteen and hold Penn State to six. Then you turn
around in the third period and I hate to tell you,
but the Badger's only got three official shots on net
in the third period, if my numbers are correct. But
the fact of the matter being is that fourteen of
(01:48:22):
them went to Penn State. So when you're trying to
come from behind, you're down one nothing and you can
only generate three shots, none of them on your one
power play, that's when you get frustrated. I was thinking too,
even even strength. I mean, was Penn State doing something
that was preventing Wisconsin from getting pucks to the net.
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
It just seemed like every time that and my Wisconsin
star every time that we turned around, you got into
a situation where, at no point in time did you
ever get a second shot. First shots were from the perimeter.
Second shots were nonexistent. Even if you stick handled in
and try I had to chip one towards the net.
(01:49:02):
You were not going to get a rebound. You were
not going to get anything else. There was not a
lot of conscientious play or very good solid effort in
front of the net, even though there were several rebounds
that were available, and the Badger shut out for the
first time this season. Falling to Penn State two and
to out Let's name, our three Stars of the Game,
brought to you by ever Light Solar, Save Money, Save
(01:49:23):
the Planet. Start with ever Light Solar.
Speaker 5 (01:49:25):
Well, interestingly enough, my number one star goes to the goaltender.
I mean, he was very very good in the sense
that sergiev yep Is has been battling just like our
goaltender has been battling. But for him to come out
here and face twenty six shots or twenty five shots
(01:49:48):
and not give up anything.
Speaker 3 (01:49:50):
He made the big save.
Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
When he had to, and that was the key to
their success, I think tonight. So number one star goes
Togiev Number two star Ghosts Tyson Dick. Not only did
Tyson have a good game, but he was also the
shot leader with four shots on net, and for whatever reason,
he got the initial shot but could never score on
(01:50:12):
the rebound. I don't know how many times he tried
to tuck it in down low beside the goaltenders pad
or on the one time he was on his backhand
couldn't elevate it. Next time he's on his knees and
he couldn't elevate it. He had more pure scoring opportunities
as a forward for Wisconsin than any of the other
players did. Thus, the number two Star of the game.
(01:50:34):
Number three Stars of the Game, Aiden Fink of Penn
State Penn State number eighteen. One goal and one assist,
despite the fact that the goal was what I would
consider a lucky goal. Is he just tried to throw
it down the ice and it was an empty net goal.
But his assist on the first goal was why he's
(01:50:55):
one of the top scorers.
Speaker 3 (01:50:56):
In the Big ten YEP. Fink almost score and then
the low back picked it up and scored, and then
Fink gets the empty net goal. So those are the
three stars of the game. Brought to you by ever
Light Solar Badger's fall to Penn State to nothing energizing performance. Next,
this is Badger Hockey from Airfield.

Big Ten contests and drop four games under five hundred
this season. Let's get to our energizing performance, brought to
you by a Lion Energy, powering beyond for you.
Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
Well, I think it was kind of a team situation.
I think when my energizing performance, the thing that changed
the energy of the team is when Ryland Moseley took
a five minute major for contact to the head and
a game misconduct about eight minutes in. I guess whatever
Badgers did an amazing job of killing it, and it
(01:55:05):
just seemed like it uplifted everything and they.
Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Turned around and.
Speaker 5 (01:55:11):
Really did in a really good job defensively, not so
much offensively, but did such a good job defensively. And
to be honest with said, there were two or three
good scoring opportunities during that five minute major, And give
credit to horbach Linmark Morrissey, those guys. I don't know
(01:55:32):
if they just worked harder or thought harder or what
they did. But the fact of the matter being is
that during that five minute major, the Badgers were the
more dominant team then Penn State was, and I think
that carried over into the second period and things went
a little bit better for them.
Speaker 3 (01:55:49):
Wisconsin, by the way, allowed only one shot on goal
during that five minute penalty kill. After Rylan Moseley was
ejected for head contact, Wisconsin falls to nothing. Again. Our
energizing performance of the game brought to you by Alliant Energy,
Powering Beyond for you, we go downstairs. I believe head
coach Mike Hastings is standing by and Mike, I know
(01:56:09):
that was a tough one to take, and really the
game kind of turned in the opening seven and a
half minutes or so. You lose your top right wing
Ryland Moseley, to a five minute major, your penalty kill
came through, there was energy in the building. You almost
put one in, but I guess unfortunately just couldn't get
the offense going in the third period to try to
get even and maybe pull one out here. No, No,
(01:56:32):
that one's a dud. That one.
Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Hard to figure out.
Speaker 4 (01:56:36):
We've got a little adjustment that you do have adversity
kick you in the teeth when Mose goes out. You know,
I thought the guys stood up the penalty kill. Did
I thought after the first one Scarfee really settled in.
I know he probably wanted that first one back. But
we've got to take a zero off the board. That's
(01:56:57):
two straight games where you know, well, we've got to
find a way to make a play, find a way
a little bit harder in front of the net. Are
a lot harder in front of the net if we're
going to find a way to get pucks by guys
at this level.
Speaker 3 (01:57:08):
Yeah, trying to do too many things individually as opposed
to a team. Mike, what would you say it was
the kind of the disorientation of your offense here tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
Yeah, you know what again, I just thought when we
did get to the net, we wouldn't deliver it, and
when we did deliver it, there wasn't anybody at the hole.
I thought we also had some opportunities to take pucks
off walls and make some hockey plays on our entries,
And to me, that's playing offense. We've got to have
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Of swagger to us.
Speaker 4 (01:57:36):
And if you're not gonna have a swagger, we got
to have a little crustiness to us to get pucks
and get second and thirds, and I just thought they
went into the guts of the ice defended, especially in
the third period, and we didn't get through.
Speaker 3 (01:57:46):
Yeah, surprised by that too. I mean, your team has
had the resilience and gone to work each and every week,
but for some reason, there's that little confidence piece that's
missing right now, right Yeah, And.
Speaker 4 (01:57:57):
You've got to go out and find that. You know what,
it goes from top to bottom, and we've got to
find a way to whether somebody like Mosley goes out
of the lineup or doesn't. And you saw in the
third period we hadn't scored, so we shuffled the deck
and I thought that would make a little bit of
(01:58:17):
a difference. But right now we've got to look in
the mirror and own what we did not do. And
we can't feel sorry for ourselves because they're going to
be coming tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
Coach.
Speaker 5 (01:58:27):
When Tyson Dick going at the net, what three or
four times he was right in front and he I
was going to go down and buy him.
Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
A school scoop shovel. Yeah, he couldn't get it up,
he couldn't get it down. He kept hitting the polls,
he kept hitting the pad. He played away all of
a game tonight. You know what, he's he's starting to
put some back to backs together.
Speaker 4 (01:58:46):
And Tyson, if you noticed, we moved him all over
the rink because I was trying to get him his
minutes over the third period. And he's he's starting to
play a bit better for us offensively, and now we
just need to get some people to support him.
Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
All right, Mike, thanks for your timing to you. Thanks guys, sure.
Head coach Mike Hastings, obviously disappointed after a two nothing

Badger's fall here tonight to Penn State two to nothing.
We'll go through the final stats here in just a bit.
Let's check some scores from around the country. First, want
to let you know the top rank Wisconsin women's hockey
team hosts third ranked Minnesota tomorrow at two and Sunday
at noon. If Mark Johnson's club gets a win, whether
(02:01:43):
it be in regulation, overtime, or a shootout, Badgers need
two points to clinch the WCCHA regular season title. Outright,
it would be the tenth regular season championship for Mark
Johnson's program. So again, the Wisconsin women at lebron tomorrow
at Sunday at noon against Minnesota non conference men's college
(02:02:04):
hockey Tonight, Long Island beat lynden Wood three to two.
Did you watch any of the bean Pot semis on Monday,
two blowouts?
Speaker 5 (02:02:12):
Yeah, I just saw highlights. I didn't see anything of
any particular length.
Speaker 3 (02:02:17):
You beat Harvard seven to one, BC over Northeastern eight two.
So the Terriers and the Eagles meet for the bean
Pot Championship on Monday. That's going to be on the
NHL network. That's kind of whole surprise. Yeah. Hockey East tonight,
Boston College opened up a six point lead on second
place BU. The Eagles doubled New Hampshire four to two.
Boston University lost in overtime to Merrimac two to one.
(02:02:40):
You Mass beat Yukon five to four, Maine in Providence
at three to three overtime time. Vermont knocked off Loll
five to three. Boll. You look at the national rankings
and you see BC number one. You see Maine fifth,
Providence seventh, Boston University eighth, Loll is tenth. I mean,
it's you know, and then you I wanted to look
(02:03:01):
at Lowell's also in the pairwise, New Hampshire's fifteenth in
the pair. I mean, that's a tough league hockey. Yeah,
it is.
Speaker 5 (02:03:06):
In it's top to bottom. I mean, it's not that
there's any weak sisters whatsoever. Can I throw in a
little comment about the UMass Lowell. My nephew is an
alumni from there, and they had their alumni game today,
and so he took his eight year old son on
his birthday and got him to skate in the alumni game.
(02:03:27):
So Thomas on Afred Chach happy eighth birthday. Good, that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (02:03:32):
ECAC tonight, Quinnipiac over Saint Lawrence six to one, Colgate
and Union a two to two overtime tie. Quinnipiac now
with a three point lead on Colgate for the regular
season lead. Cornell doubled RPI four to two, Dartmouth over
Harvard three to two. Clarkson beat Princeton four to one.
NC eight seed tonight. Do you get an update on
(02:03:53):
the Arizona State Denver game? By chance it was looking
to read to Denver eight. I can't, honestly, Yeah, three
two Denver halfway through the second period, gotcha. Cruz Lucius,
the former Badger scored his first goal as a Sun
Devil today. He missed the first half plus of the
season following elbow surgery. Former Badger Cameron Road twenty four saves.
(02:04:16):
Western Michigan shut out Saint Cloud State Ford to nothing.
Former Badger Zach Erdall scored Olmaha leads to luth now
four to one with about a half minute to play
in Omaha. Actually Ardall just scored another one, so it
was he got an even strength goal to give him
a two to one lead, and then he gets the
empty netter as well. So earn all two goals for
(02:04:39):
Uno tonight. And what do you have for North Dakota
and Colorado College?
Speaker 5 (02:04:43):
I have in the third period with seven minutes remaining,
Colorado College four, North Dakota two.
Speaker 3 (02:04:49):
Wow, they must have scored two quick ones. It was
two to two a little while ago. CCHA Minnesota State
has a three to one lead on August Stana. That
is in the third period of play. We'll see if
we can get a final on that one. The Mavericks
currently lead the CCHA actually four to one. The final
score so man Cato wins over August Stanta. Bowling Green
(02:05:12):
in second place a four to one win over Saint Thomas.
So the Mavericks still lead Bowling Green by four points
in the CCHA. Lake Superior State edged Northern Michigan three
to two, and the surprise in the CCHA how about
those Beavers five to three winners at Michigan Tech. But
Migie State getting a job done on the road. Yeah,
and it.
Speaker 5 (02:05:34):
You know, first half of the season. I look at
Bmigie State, they win one, they lose three, they win
another one, they lose two.
Speaker 3 (02:05:41):
Da da da da da.
Speaker 5 (02:05:42):
But to go walk into Michigan Tech and beat them
five to three on their home ices E. That's a
big accomplishment.
Speaker 3 (02:05:48):
Atlantic Hockey League leading Sacred Heart at two to two
overtime tie with Army Air Force beat Kenisha's five to three,
American International shutout, Mercyhurst five nothing, Bentley A one nothing
went over, Robert Moore Holy Cross had its way with
rit nine to two the final and in the Big
ten Minnesota IDOL this weekend, Ohio State beat Notre Dame
(02:06:09):
in South Bend five to one. Ryan Gordon two goals
for the Buckeyes, Logan turnus twenty seven saves, and Michigan
a big win at Michigan State two to one, Garrett
Schifsky the game winning goal with fifty six seconds left.
Cameron Corpie thirty eight saves for the Wolverines, who are
in fourth place in the Big Ten. They've opened up
a four point lead on fifth place Wisconsin, three points
(02:06:30):
behind Ohio State. Michigan State leads the league with forty points,
Minnesota has thirty eight. So those two teams duking it
out for the regular season titles. So actually Michigan did
Minnesota a favor tonight while Michigan did not do Wisconsin
a favorite. Correct. Yeah, So that's where we stand heading
into tomorrow night's series finale. Back in a moment, this

to one, just the second and third regulation losses for
the Badgers over the last twenty games or so. Here
tonight taking on a Penn State team that Wisconsin took
five of six point from in state college back in November.
(02:09:25):
But tonight, for whatever reason, there was like a fence
around the Penn State for in that row. Yes, yeah,
and one goal three minutes in really was all that mattered.
The Badgers got an early power play tonight after Penn
State was whistled for a two minute minor thirty eight
seconds in against Aiden Fink. The Badgers unable to convert
(02:09:48):
on their power play, and once that expired, about thirty
seconds later, a defensive zone turnover by the Badgers put
the puck on the stick of Aiden Fink. His shot
from the slot went between the pads of Tommy Scarfoni.
Scarfhoni closed the door and got a piece of the puck,
but it scored it between his pads and Rees's lawback
(02:10:10):
went to the blue paint and tapped it in and
it was one nothing, three ten in. Yeah, and it
was again. Call it a cheap goal, call it a
easy goal, whatever you want to call it, but all
the hard work that was done previously by Penn State
to get that puck to the net and then to
have it defenseman draped all over you as you're just
(02:10:33):
knocking into the empty net. Yeah, yeah, one nothing Penn
State at that point. And then the game turned even
more when the Badger's second leading scorer, Ryland Moseley was
ejected for a five minute major for head contact. The Badgers, though,
killed off that five minute major power play, and the
crowd came to life. It seemed to give the Badgers
some energy Offensively, they were unable to convert even strength
(02:10:58):
and then got a five minute power play of their
own when brayden Ford took a five minute major for
head contact at the sixteen minute mark. But again the
Badgers unable to score in the four minutes at the
end of the first period and the additional minute to
start the second, so Wisconsin was zero for two on
the power play, down one nothing. In the second, got
(02:11:18):
another power play, failed to convert, so oh for three,
still down one nothing. Penn Stak got a power play
late in the second period, the Badgers killed that off,
still won nothing after two periods of play, and then
the Badgers actually Quinn Finley took a penalty. Penn State
got its third power play, Badgers killed it off. Wisconsin
got another power play halfway through the third, Penn State
(02:11:41):
killed it off. Joe Pilatichuck took a late penalty. Penn
State back on the power play, the Badgers killed it off.
The two teams tonight both oh for four on the
power play, both had eleven minutes of power play hockey.
Penn State had five shots on goal and eleven minutes
of power play hockey. The Badgers had only six, but
it was still one nothing. Lawbacks goal early in the
(02:12:03):
first was holding up. Holding up, Badgers emptied their net
for an extra attacker, took a time out with about
two minutes left to set up an offensive zone face off.
Had a couple of looks, but eventually Aiden Fink picked
up a loose puck in the Badger's zone and sent
it the length of the ice for an empty net goal,
his twentieth goal of the season, unassisted at nineteen fifteen,
(02:12:23):
and that was all the scoring here tonight. Both teams
five penalties for twenty one minutes. Both teams zero for
four on the power play. Wisconsin won twenty two of
forty two face offs, Gavin Morrissey twelve of twenty in
the faceoff circle, Wisconsin with seventeen beggar pardon penn State
with seventeen rock shots tonight, five by Caid Christiansen, the
(02:12:44):
freshman defenseman. The Badgers had fourteen block shots, three apiece
for Anthony Kerr and for Ben deck Seimer. Our Senni Sergia,
the starting goaltender the transfer from Yu Khan. He gets
his fourth shut out of the season, stopped twenty five shots,
only had to face three shots on goal in the
third period, and that's what I guess is most surprising
(02:13:06):
to me. Yeah, Penn State had four minutes of power
play hockey but only three shots on goal in the
third period for Wisconsin. But again, just refer back to
two weeks into Goo when we were playing Michigan. Third
period the Badgers could do no wrong, you know, two
goals come from behind, and then to tie it up
in the third period on Saturday night. And then it
(02:13:27):
was very a knee mic effort here in the third period,
not allowed to get up and go. Yeah, Sergei again,
twenty five saves, he gets the win. He's ten seven
and three aiden think a goal, two points, four shots
on goal plus two. His linemate Rees Lawback gets the
game winning goal. Four shots on goal plus two. Nitney
Lyons now thirteen eleven and three, four to ten and
(02:13:48):
three in the Big Ten. Four shots on goal apiece
for Tyson Dick and Quinn Finley, but the Badgers shut
out for the first time this season. Tommy Scarfoni twenty
four saves, but he takes the loss. His record now
nine eleven and three. The Badgers are eleven fifteen and
three six twelve and one in league play. It took
two hours and three minutes to play a game in
(02:14:10):
front of ten thousand and seventy one fans, Penn State
shuts out Wisconsin by the final score of two to nothing.
All right. To get to five hundred, or to get
over five hundred before the playoffs, the Badgers will have
to run off five straight. But right now, it's just
playing better, you know, and if you win, great, But
you got to play better than they did here, and
they certainly in the second and third periods night. As
(02:14:33):
I used to say, don't look to the future, look
to the next game. Yeah, that's all there is to it,
all right, that's what they've got to do. So my
thanks to Adam Morris and our producer, Ian Parron, my partner,
and to all of you listening around the state of
Wisconsin or on your Varsity Network app on Brian Posik
saying so long everybody. Again. The final score here from
the Coles Center in Madison, Penn State two Wisconsin nothing. Again,

Are you up to speak?
Speaker 27 (02:15:00):
With the new beneficial ownership reporting requirements?
Speaker 3 (02:15:02):
Sort of?
Speaker 2 (02:15:03):
What's it about?
Speaker 27 (02:15:04):
It's a new initiative to help fight crimes like money laundering, fraud,
and drug trafficking. A lot of small businesses like ours
just have to report some basic info to the federal
government about the real people behind them.
Speaker 14 (02:15:16):
Reporting your company's beneficial ownership information is quick, secure and free,
and it helps protect you as national security.

This doesn't seem like a drug deal, but it definitely is.
