Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon from the Galen Center in Los Angeles with
Brian Butch, our engineer, Dave McCann, and Aisha Jackson back
at the Network studio. This is matt Leapey. We welcome
you to Wisconsin basketball, a little two games swing in
Southern California. First up, Eric Musselman's USC Trojans SC eleven

(00:20):
and six overall, three up three down to the Big Ten.
The Badgers are fourteen and three overall, winners of six
straight and now four and two in Big Ten Conference play.
Before we start the game, let's first pause ten seconds
for station identification, ten for an ID. This is Badger
Basketball from lear Field Badgers and the Trojans here this

(00:41):
afternoon as Wisconsin as a Southern California swing. They've got
you Ucla coming up on Tuesday night. Sc here. Of course,
the Wisconsin traveling party that you know, very closely monitoring
what's been going on out here with the wildfires. They've
caught a little bit of a break with the weather.
The wins have calmed slowly, but surely things are improving

(01:05):
out here. So it's game on today. Game on Tuesday.
Matter of fact, Iowa played UCLA at Paul pavilion. There
was some talk that they might have to move that
they did not. So everything is on schedule here for
the Wisconsin Badgers and the USC Trojan. It's an important
swing Brian Buttsch for the next five starting today, for
the next five on the road for Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, life of the Big ten and we've seen it
with Big Ten teams going on the road and losing.
So you have to stay focused on each game, can't
focus on what do you have come ahead, and that's
tough on a trip that you stay on the road
for now that's the big Yes, you know it's new.
It's the La swing. You come out here, you play
two games. It's hard not to think about if we're
out here for seven days or six days. But you

(01:50):
have to be dialed in on this game right now,
this moment.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
And then the Badgers last road trip to the East
Coast went well, a win against Rutgers USC. We mentioned
playing better that win against Illinois opened a lot of
eyes last week in Champagne where they more than held
their own in the glass and teams don't do that
very often against the Aliani. But they're getting into some rhythm,

(02:15):
as we've talked about in the pregame show and almost
entirely new roster. But it looks like things are coming
together for Eric Mussels.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
It does, and you talked about the glass and that's
why I think it's such an important part of this.
I think Wisconsin can go ahead and find a way
to do what that does two things. One, it creates
the offensive opportunities, second chance opportunities, but most importantly, it
allows to be more physical. You have to match a
physicality and if you in your mind as a player
say I'm gonna go rebound, rebound, rebound, that increases the

(02:43):
physicality of your team throughout the game.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Or we've talked a little bit about Stephen Prow, we
probably haven't talked about him enough in this hour or
so we have been on. The run has been most
impressive and no coincidence, I guess, but either the Badgers
have won six in a row. Is Stephen Crows averages
sixteen points per in that stretch.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Well at six point five rebound? Yes, sir, And the
efficiency had no last game. We've talked about the efficiency,
but had you know seventy one percent as well? So
not only is he sworn at a high level, rebounding
at a high level. He's shooting from three, by the way,
six to fourteen for three to two. I'm just throw
that out there, and you just want to get that
out there.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
You had all kinds of stretches like that. They didn't
six fourteen at fourteen fourteen. What I'm saying, he was
half right sixth and there.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It was never six and fourteen.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
No, no, no, only when you had the man right.
It's all about the win, not about how many. Oh
we'll see how today's games go for the Badgers. When
you got Purdue and Oregon, that's a fun game. That's
also beginning right about now out in Eugene. Badgers of
the Traveling Cardinal Land the White trim Usc going with

(03:50):
the gold Unis in their USC Trojans version of Cardinal.
Michael Ree, Tim Comer, and Randy Richardson are your officials.
I would tell you that looks like a pretty good
turnout of Wisconsin Badgers fans, which is not a big
surprise with a lums living out here in southern California,
although given what has transpired out here for nearly the

(04:12):
last two weeks, I'm sure how many would be here
for the game. And it looks like they're a pretty
fair number. Otherwise there gonna lie. There are a fair
amount of empty seats here in this ten thy two
hundred seat over in a nice facility, but you could
hear some noise when the visiting team gets some buckets.
Abo and crowd jumping Center toss and tap bat it

(04:33):
around and it will be controlled by USC and Desmond
Claude in the left wing Trojans moving to our right
as we're underway here in southern California. Claude against Blackwell.
Ice scream from ABO gives off to Wesley Yates and
was a hot shooter against Iowa earlier this week. A
throw on the right side Abo, he's with John Tanjay
is it up to Alex Cohen and an inside feed

(04:55):
and that has batted around stold it away by Nolan Winzer. Turnover.
USC is we're trying to get Saint Thomas inside Badger's
to our left Blackwell with a pass I got deflected
by Cohen, gathered by Kraut, and then Stevie whistles one
over Blackwell and out of bounds where the teams exchange
turnovers here in the opening minute.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
And both of them were by Bigs, just trying to
create something there. Steve doesn't need to have that back
door pass. Just reverse it one more time and you're
all right.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
And what the floor comes usc Wesley Yates. They weave
it ob blo out between the circles. He's it for
Cohen flips the Desmond Claude high and the right. Good
tough assignment here for John Blackwell this afternoon. Cohen left
of the circle, hands off ab Bo. You'll try a
seventeen footer just off the left elbow and missed it. Rebound.
Max Plesman for Wisconsin bust it up the right sideline.

(05:42):
Teen's crowd quick pass Blackwell and the left wing. He's
against Claude.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
A throw to.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Nolan Winter see straight up defensively. Here's Tan Jay baseline
right and he throws one out of bounds and he's
trying to get Klesban at the left corner. Two possessions,
two turnovers full the Badgers and the thought's right.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
When you drive baseline like that, you do want to
look opposite corner. You just got to execute the pass.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
About a minute fifteen gone by, we have no score.
Claude on the right side, so they he's the defense
hardhead of the screen from Krow. He'll turn it back
to Blackwell left side Wesley Yates. Nolan Winter defended. They
were Saint Thomas rather against Nolan Winter. Now Cohen turns
left of the lane, shot up around it out no
good rebound Crowhead to Blackwell up the middle front court.

(06:25):
Now John driving left of the lanes against Claude stops
pivots left block needs help and he threw it away.
A pass is stolen by Wesley Yates. The eights off
the right wing. Reverse layup is good going right to left.
So the Badgers with three turnovers and as many possessions
to nothing USC.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
That's what USC wants to do. They're going to make
you uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Stephen Crowell out front throwing the max Pleas behind the
left high screen, crowd bounced past crow left wings crowd
against Alex Cohen or Josh Cohen Beger park backing his
crowd mid post left out the Winter shot Bake feats
Klesband high on the left, hesbanout the left wing, running
right hand or back rim once twice and through Pleasband
with a bucket. We're tired at two.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
It's amazing. We ashould get a shot on the rim.
What happens?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Give yourself a chance? Here Tied at two, about two
and a half minutes gone by, Yates hands off to
Saint Thomas, gets the screen from Josh Cohen pulled up
right boutline extended jumper is good for Saint Thomas, who
averages seven or bake that ten and a half points
of games four to USC early on here in La
here's Krow right of the lane, starts to back. Crowd

(07:33):
backing on Thomas, live block, double bike, Cohan turn shooting, listen, rebound,
slam dunk, Nolan Winter were tied at four.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Well the double team came off of Noel Winter? Where'd
he go? Front of the rim? I say it all
the time, Good things happen when you cut to the
front of the rim.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Three minutes in, tied at four as they work to
leave out high Thomas at the top, Thomas left hand ribble,
shovels at the Cohen mid post left backing on Winter
at dag for the pleasant one pump and walking with
a ball is Josh Cohen turnover USC. We'll Steve Kamari
McGee and Carter Gillmore check in for Wisconsin plesband and
crow will come out where shaan Ag is in for

(08:11):
Josh Cohen. Agy's been playing well of its well of
late six eighth grad student out of Chicago, Well traveled
most recently at Bowling Green put up big numbers for
the Falcons last year. Carter Gillmore outside left, throwing the
Blackwell between the circles Blackwell high screen winners. Looks at
the Nolan bobbled the pass. Who is able to get
it back? Why to the lane? Kicks to McGee, He

(08:33):
bobbles it. Hi am the right badgers, re said Gilmore.
Here's it up to Tanjay high on the left. Tanja
against Appo in the lane, which to McGee baseline right
out the Blackwell three shot right corner cook Well with
a triple at seven to four Wisconsin, three minutes forty
seconds into the game. That has been clawed out front

(08:54):
Kamariy McGee now checking Claude or the six to six
point here for USC The Yates at the top feeds
Ebo shot fake steps up right, elbow jump is good
Taboozzo Ebo. Most of the shots are threes, but he
hits a mid range there at seven six Wisconsin. Blackwell

(09:16):
drives off the left wing to the cup of the
layup is good. Nine six the Badgers. A little more
than four minutes in and there's Desmond Claude to the
front court outside right against Kamari McGee while behind the
back of the dribble, lost the handle, gut it back,
loops of the abo left side. He'll snap off of
three back rim, no good, rebound tip scramble tipped again,

(09:37):
loose right corner. Claude runs it down in a reset
for USC. Saint Thomas feeds a g he can shoot
the three. He wills straight away, bangs off the iron,
no good, and the rebound comes down to John Blackwell.
So if he's willing to shoot it, got a ton
a five h fourteen on the season. Is ag who
flects a past Gilbore runs it down in the back court.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
But in USC's doing a good job of getting hands
in passing. They really are.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Barry McGee throwing the nole in winter feats Blackwell open
for three Reich side good again, another three point hit
for Blackwell. He has eight early points for the Badgers.
Twelve six Wisconsin, five oh five gone by.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Tom Blackwell's just I mean, he's been different. He is different.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
With the balls Saint Thomas and a whistle off the
ball here they might get Tanjay. He was tagging to
Buzzo APO and we have the time out are under

Fourteen forty six left, first half, Wisconsin, twelve usc six.
This is Patrick Basketball from lear Field, Wisconsin. Basketball brought

(11:04):
to you by Cleary Building. Court built with pride before
the shamrock is applied. Explore Clearybuilding dot Com. Today Saint
Thomas baseline left inbounds to age we resume play. Fourteen
forty three left, first half, twelve six, Wisconsin. It's Yates
with the ball out, curls around the left wing in
the lane, darts it out to Abo, fakes the three
dal steps to his left, takes the three. Just a

(11:26):
short rebound Saint Thomas and it was knocked out of bounds,
well say by John Blackwell when it remains USC bowl.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
And that's what this USC team does so well, as
they just play so hard those fifty fifty balls. Wisconsin
has to get him a couple more of those. Clean
up the offensive or defensive possessions.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Thomas baseline rival inbound, lobs it out to Wesley Yeats,
slips it through ag against Stephen crowd hoves it up
to Thomas Chase by Gilmore. Thomas left elbowl the most
shuffled there into Kevin Patton six eight, sophomore on the floor,
drives left the landing around Janicki and scooped it up.
Missed but a foul jack to Nicky who a check
into the lineup full of Badgers, the sixty five shirt freshman.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
That's his first and I'm shocked. We're six minutes in
this game. As the first free throw touched me. That
the two teams that gets the freely on for emphasis
on getting down hill.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
We talked about it. With Wisconsin sc twenty two attempts
per game, they'll foul a lot as well. Kevin Patton
transferred from San Diego eight of seventeen at the line
of this season, but he gets the first free throw.
Averages three point seven points per game. Played a handful
of minutes against Iowa a few days ago. Patton was

(12:40):
West Coast Conference All Freshman Team last year's second free
throw is good and is twelve eight Wisconsin fourteen fifteen
left to the first half. Kamari McGee at the left
side of the front court for Wisconsin around the cloud
screen post to Gilmore wraps at the Blackwell right side
inside feed caught by crowd, given go black out of
the rim lay. I'm good, it counts at a foul

(13:00):
and there it is again that given go has been
a bread and butter play here for the Badgers, every game, every.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Game, and I get that. I just don't understand how
they keep getting him, because you think at some point, hey,
you know, when the bull hits the post, what's gonna happen?
Just also, John Blackwell with a quick ten points here?

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Oh no kidding, Like here we go again, different exactly
exactly three throw for Blackwell is good. That's a three
point play. Fifteen to Waight, Wisconsin about six minutes in
does been clawed down in there up the floor, goes
off the yates around an ag screen, turns the lane.
Thirteen footer is good.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Pretty good individual play there that much defensively, Yeah, there's
gonna be plays like that throughout this game.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Fifteen to ten Wisconsin. The thirteen forty five left to
the first half, crowd throwing at Max Plesman back in
there for the Badger's Plesband, whips of the Jeniki three
shot left corner around it out, no good, We're shot
agy the rebound. I'll let the Saint Thomas ahead to
Claude drives by Jadicki to the rim and the layup
is no good. Off the left side iron or rebound
out the hands of crowd into the hands of Blackwell.

(14:08):
Blackwell up the floor, fans it out to the right
side for the matches. Thirteen twenty five left, first half,
fifteen to ten Wisconsin. So Vicky high on the left,
throwing to kill Moore in the left wing, ws to
the corner, brings it back out front, and Ikey turns
it high in the right for Blackwell thirteen to shoot.
Blackwell high screen from crowd. Blackwell, weaving in the lane,
lobbed it in the crowd he'll catch it, then went

(14:28):
up and fell down. He was fouled inside here, and
I think they're going to get Desmond clawed there. That
is his first and team found number two big time
sub here for Wisconsin. Xavier Amos, John Tanjay, Nolan Winter

(14:50):
back in there for Wisconsin, McKee and Klesbant rounding out
the file. The hockey seysen was line change in bounds
pass Nolan Winter near the left corner. He'll throw it.
The Klusman along the left sideline near half court. The
chibouzo Abo back in there for sc with the ball
a Speaki on the right side. A pass for Winter
turns at the Tanjay left side, looking to go baseline

(15:13):
while starting to back on Wesley with three to shoot,
with two fade away from Tanjay as an air ball
to shot clock violation fifteen to ten Wisconsin with twelve
forty seven left in the first half. Four turns now
for Wisconsin. Three of them came on the first three possessions.
Otherwise they're shooting six to nine for the field, two

(15:33):
out of three from distance.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
The mathematician, that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Here's Saint Thomas left of the circle. He'll throw at
Abo refeeds Thomas Thomas inside feed one and AG's deflected
away by Xavier Amos and then off a AG and
out of bounds. Good work defensively by Xavier Amos down low.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
It really wasn't because he stayed level with the ball,
understood where he needed to be in the kemp Fulton
backwards and backwards. When the lava was there was he
was able to get the deflection on it.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Twelve thirty left, first half, fifteen to ten Wisconsin. Leeds
usc Amos for the pass for Klesban around a screen
from Nolan Winter. Knows are back out though Nolan tries
a three hits a three from rid of the circle.
First hit from distance for Nolan Winter and it's eighteen
to ten Wisconsin. And he's been so good this year too,
thirty five percent from distance coming into this game for

(16:24):
Nolan Winter with the ball as Desmond Claude outside right
edge of the screen from Winter turns it back to McGee,
Claude at the free frill line, bounces into Ag and
he walked with the ball defense provided by Nolan Winter
and Ag lost his footing and we have the under
twelve media time out Hey, Badger fans, if you're looking

The slash story eighteen to ten was constantly to usc
with eleven fifty six lef to the first half. They
protect the ball. They're pretty good here, butch He's seven
out of ten are the Badgers for the.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Four well and average at one point three points in possession,
which is really good. The average now when I played
with Poe is about one. Now with the roof changes,
about one point two is where you want to be at.
They're at one point three. The ball's moving, they're understanding
making the right play. Defensively is where I've been impressed. Yes,
there's been some fifty to fifty balls that have gone
to USC, but overall Wiscoont's Defensively, they've been at gaps

(18:08):
and they've really forced USC to make extra passes and
challenged all the drives without following.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
On top of the him has been Claude has been
a hot hand, the hottest of the hot hands for
the USC have laid. He had twenty five points, eight rebounds,
nine has sished against Iowa, dropped thirty one points on
Illinois has yet to score here so far. But we're
just a bit more than eight minutes into the game.
Here's Kamary McGee if before being hassled by Yhue right sideline,

(18:36):
poked away by Yah. Kamori gets it back and we'll
give off the Klesbat high screen. Winter Max starts to
Amos open three left side nailed it, big savior Amos
at triple. It's twenty one ten Wisconsin. Claud in the
back court check five, Kamari McGee and Kamari knocked and
lew is trying to save it. It goes out of
bounds and belong to USC. Ryan Butch always tells me

(19:03):
nobody wants to play defense. I think Kamari McGee enjoys
playing defense. But you still couldn't shoot the ball at all.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
He doesn't, no question.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
There's Pat outside right, a little back guy. They want
to get Yates and it's stolen away, knocked away by
your head. Amos down there and Klesband as well. Here's
Max front court throwing Amos left pocket three and that's
what the rim. No good rebound to Abo of USC
eleven oh five left in the half, twenty one to
ten Wisconsin. Here's Desmond clawed against Kamari, knocked away by Clesbank,

(19:34):
got it back, got tied up, held ball and the
arrow two Wisconsin and there's Uni again inside. Figure that happened.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
You've talked about Gilbert, the way that they've guarded Desmond
Claud so far. Again, there's been bodies everywhere he's gone.
That's a great example of that.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Five on the floor. You got McGee, Amos, Winter, Tan,
Jay and Klesban. Here's Kamari starts to go now peels
the back right wing, feeds Amos quick flip over to
Max Plesman high screen. Winter, Max fakes the three, feats
McGee right corner, back out the Max where the shot
tag dribbles off the wing. Now into the lane, stops
mid post.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Left.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Guys try to bounce it in to Nolan Wincher couldn't
handle it. Turnover Wisconsin as Thomas came up with it,
and now here's Abo on the right side. Go into
Saint Thomas top of the circle. Refeeds abodes on Amos,
cut off by Klesbon right in the lane. Now he's
double pass deflected by Winter, goes out to Saint Thomas,
turns to Yates, shakes Bright lose left scoops into the lane. No,

(20:33):
but a foul is wes Lee Yeates trying to get
to the bucket drawing the contact. They'll get it on
Camarie McGhee. That'll be his first twenty one to ten
Wisconsin with ten eighteen left. In the first half, we'll
see John Blackwell and Steven Krow check back in as
wes Lee yeats to the free throw line. He at

(20:54):
twenty one against Iowa, going four to five from the
three point line, a fixture in that starting lineup since
Terrence Williams, the Michigan transfer, had a wrist injury. Hets
averaging ten and a half points per game, missing the
first free throw. The crow Blackwell will come in plesband

(21:15):
and Winter will sit down as we Claude will it
take a seat for the Trojans.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
And the only reason he gets the free throw lin
is there's a little bit of a scramble. Wisconsin gambles
a little bit, but defensively, man, they've been really.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Good, really have second free throws a byss he ain'ts
trying to run it down, could not, and two free
throws miss out of bounce. Clark Slackert is the player
who came in for Desmond Claude, slackered grad student they
transfer from Penn. Here comes McGee is off to Stephen
Krow on the right wing. It bounced to Tanjay trying

(21:52):
to post on Thomas Tanjay out to Stevie. Han's off
to Tanjay. With ten minutes left and a half, Tanjay
took a look, turned it down, floats it back out,
the Amos bounces it in just even krow. Shot clock
down to five. Amos driving on Ibo to the line
and the lane runs it up. Miss but a foul.
That's a good take from Xavier Amos. Shot clock winding down,

(22:13):
got a little dribble penetration and he'll go to the
free throw line.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
I'll tell you about some good minutes again from Xavier,
just understanding, not trying to do too much, right like
when you come in in that moment, comes down. He
knocks down a three early on there does it force
the three understands? Shot clock. Cree is able to drive
and get to the line.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
First free throw, no good from x You get that
foul on Ag, by the way, which is his first foul.
Second free throw is good for Xavier Amos, who will
come out as Carter Gilmore is in twenty two to
ten Wisconsin, ninety eight left in the first half. Mark

(23:00):
slackerd numbers eighteen a game for pen last year, a
two time All IVY League selection. Here's the gates for
three straight away and that's a brick wide right went
off of Slacker, right in the hands of Ag and
his chip shot rolls off the rim. No good the rebound.
Carter Gilmore back to the front court. A pass fake
left he'll throw at Gilmour turns the right side for

(23:21):
john Tonjay Tonjay match up with Saint Thomas bounds past
Gilmore right wing. Carter starts to back still backing back
into the right block out the crow open three left
of the circle. Boocket inside out they go and Eric Busselman,
we'll use a timeout. Fifteen point lead now full of

(23:42):
the Wisconsin Badgers. We'll keep it here with nine to
ten left and a half twenty five to ten, Wisconsin
leading USC.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Offensively, Wisconsin sharing the ball. That's nothing new. We know
that's what they think. Like everyone's fit and ball now
John Black will come going early on. But now that
ball is fine in the open player Like it's been
really good offensively, But I can't emphasize enough defensively right now. Yes,
I mean they are. They're playing as five. There's no

(24:12):
driving gaps at all for any of USC's players, like
really dialed in and when you play as five. We've
seen him play as five a lot on the offensive end.
This might be the best that I've seen him play defensively.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
This has been been impressed and impressed the first ten
plus minutes. Wisconsin on a ten to nothing run right now.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
And I'll say Wisconsin has been getting better on the
defensive fens.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
This game goes by, like I know, it's one.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Of those things that doesn't get talked about when they're
scoring the ball and the shooting at the free throw
rate that they are, but defensively they are getting better
and better every single game.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Eric Musselman burning his first time out and Desmond Claude
back in there full. The Trojans met by Camarinie McGee
clawed out front, angles the dribble to the left wing.
Now Tan Jay will pick him up. Claude lee elbow out.
The slacker tries the three right of the circle, short
rebound of Saint Thomas. Second chance for usc so work

(25:08):
it out front Saint Thomas. Long two is good just
inside the yard.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
If you was kind of you can live with that.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Absolutely, it's all day except clean up the first you know, Misshote.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Twenty five twelve, Wisconsin. That bucket stopped the Badger run.
At ten eight and a half minutes left of the
first half. Blackwell loops it into crow ride of the lane,
Thomas defending single coverage. Stevie is backing and backing right.
Black turns a big money.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Get a big fellaw me get a big fella.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Let me had it.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
The reason I'm so excited, like you could see it developing.
You just like, when is he gonna turn? When's he
gonna turn? Tough?

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Check for Saint Thomas who stands at six seven twenty
seven to twelve Wisconsin. Thos By Claude throws it out
the Yates. Yates at the top of the circle, feeds
Thomas on the left wing starting to back Tan Jay
defense backing. Shot. Clock is at five and an L

(26:04):
three up top is good for slacker and he got foul.

Seven fifty five left to the first half, Wisconsin twenty
seven USC fifteen. This is badger basketball for lear few
Patrick fans. Today's game is brought to you by the
official products of Wisconsin Athletics. Roof up lots of lots

(26:46):
of pizza, old Dutch chips and PEPSI. Clark Slacker just
to his first three as a Trojan. He's one for
ten now. He was good at Penn last year. Forty
two percent. Now there's a chance to turn this into
a four point player. Stephen Krow foubu fifty five left
to the half, twenty seventy to fifteen Wisconsin, one of ten.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
That means he's ten percent this year.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
You're a genius.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
I'll tell you. Just throw that out there.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Two degrees from the University of.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Percent here this year. I didn't even have to get
a calculator up for that either. It's why it's a
right up here in the noggin.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
That's why it's a world class institution. Everybody free throw
from Slacker, no good, Abos spiked the rebound out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Are we having fun yet? We haven't fun yet?

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Gotta have fun, h gotta have fun. We're gonna be
together for a few more days here on this trip.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Right, You're gonna be so sick of me.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Daughter feel Moore with a hand off to Max Klesman
shaking on Slacker ribbles to the left side, starting to
back Max and the lane flap out by Slacker. That'll
be his first seven forty left to the first half
twenty seven to fifteen Wisconsin as team found number four.
Both teams with the four fouls Winchard, Gilmore, Blackwell, Tanjay

(28:02):
and Klesman out there if the Wisconsin Blackwell baseline left
flips it and bounds till Winter near the left corner,
and I bounced intended for Gilmore went off of him
and a turnover for the Badgers. Six turnovers aside here
in his first half, Desbond Claude now picked up by
Max Klesman. Here's the slacker he is with Tanja slaggered

(28:25):
sizing them up, goes it the left side Desmond Claude
claud dribbles off the left wing in the lane one
pump now scoops it up left hand, high off the
glass and out no good arena in Winter knocked away
ag of the Belongo Wisconsin. Seven oh eight s left
to the have twenty seven point fifteen the Badgers.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
In USC one of four on layups a lot of
it's been just because there's been bodies down there.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Pouter Gilmore hits the brakes, throws at the nol and
Winter between the circles, whips at the clesbmant left side
driving on Slacker picked up the foul max I don't
like in that matchup. He's been able to go to
work a little bit. He's picked up two thousand Slacker
as wes Lee Yates will now come in four Slacker
tider six fifty nine left of the break, twelve point

(29:14):
lead Wisconsin. John tanjays sideline left front court millinbound well.
A dangerous pass gets it in an old Winter being
bothered by a g I pass out. The Blackwell sends
it through Gilmore right hand toss for Klesman back to
quarter stops right block bounces it out. The Blackwell flips
a three straight away and it clipped the right side iron.

(29:34):
No good would rebound run down right corner by Gilmore,
throws it out to Nolan Winter second chance. Wisconsin would
hustle by Carter Gilmore tonj for three left side and
that's off the rim badly on the right side. No good,
here's ibo quickly the other way for usc stops right
on the lane, throws it back out the Saint Thomas.
Six twenty five left in the half, twenty seven to

(29:55):
fifteen Wisconsin. Thomas against Nolan Winter in the lane, fadeaway
ten foot back rim, no good, and over the back
is Rashaun ag that'll be his second foul. Ag an
emotional sort couple of fouls, very emotion. Hey, I'll let
you know how he feels. So he has two Slackard

(30:16):
has two slackered on the bench. Ag in there for
the moments both coaches will, but neither eager to play
a lot of minutes. With two thousand in the first half,
six oh eight left to the break, here's klesband for
three left side. That's off the rim, no good. Saint
Thomas the rebound and it goes to Desmond Claude on

(30:38):
the run, riving right. Laneline clows it up two strong,
no good rebound tip the blackwell here comes Wisconsin. Badgers
have a little three on two and throw the max
episode with three left side book it.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Kles been drilling of three and it's thirty to fifteen Wisconsin.
Five point forty two left till halftime. Saint Thomas sets
the floor for the Trojan Street. It's against Carter Gilmore
past three age Clesband went to the floor and Max
gets back up and plays d Here's Desmond Claude against
Gilmore Claude left hand dribble and the laying inside beat.

(31:11):
Ag goes up, got hammered. Fowl is called Nold and
Winter getting in there for the Badgers. It'll be his first.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
But again to talk about usc right now now one
of six for layups and a lot of it's just
been because Wisconsin's going vertical. Nolan does a great job
going vertical. Last possession. It leads to a transition three
for Max Klesban and maybe that final gets Max going.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
AG's first three throw is good eighty two percent and
limited opportunities. Gilmore and Winter check out. You've got kraal Amos, Tanja,
Blackwell and Klusband on the floor. That was the first
point for Rashaun Ag here today, nineteen of twenty three.
Now at the foul line, second attempt straight through to
say grads Dude thirty to seventeen wisconsint five point twenty

(32:04):
three left in the first half. Blackwell left side got
by Claude kicks a corner corner three Klesmant left side,
no good and the rebound comes down to USC. Here's
Wesley Yanks through the mid court, the logo to the
front court and the balls knocked away by Klesman, Max
diving AG diving AG gathers. Here's Desmond Claude into the paint,
cut off by Kraal and throw out through Saint Thomas

(32:26):
feeds Claude to the left wing. Claud sizes it up,
shake starts to go off, the wing stops left block
knocked away by Max and out of downs. Boy, those
hands are quick for the Badgers, and the feet are
moving as well.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
The feet, the hands, and i'd see most moore the bodies. Yes,
Claude drives in there. There's three guys that just are
all over him in that moment, like they're guarding really.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Well with em Blackwell out shot clock at eight Yates
running into Crow at the left block. He'll loop it
back out to Saint Thomas and the pass is knocked
away by Klesmant. Ma's trying to run it down, but
he's there should be a shot clock. It is yep.
Lesbian never good gain possession. As he went down to
the sideline and that's exactly what you want is Wisconsin

(33:09):
fan will get possession. Let that shot clock wind down. Yeah,
four forty four left in the first half. Now they
have this bling should have the shock. They have a
shot clock at twenty and.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
That's not that's not right. There'd be at thirty.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
There's Camari McGee out front, high screen, crow and throw
it a Max on the right side, a step back
three for Klesman. It's off the rim and out no good,
and they'll get Kraal over the back of a G
Steven with the foul and that's gonna be two on him.
So they'll get Nolan Winter back into the game.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
They've called that a lot in this game, the over
the back. Yeah, they have, they really have. And just
something be aware of. If you're big, you've got to
make that adjustment early on. Understand that that's going to
be get called.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Four point thirty left in the half, thirty to seventeen, Wisconsin.
It's been clawed. I on the right high screen from
abel as McGee works over. Now it's out the age.
You'll try a three and hit it from left to
the circle. There shawn ah E poles the Trojans within
ten thirty to twenty Wisconsin, four thirteen left in the half.
If you throwing a Klesman outside lefts Claude defending Max

(34:14):
a high screen from winter plesband Liza for Xavier Amis,
He'll send it to Tanjay Donjay baseline right and he
ran out a room, dribbled it out of ounds. Mentioned
Claude as a scored. Neither has John Tanjay as we
hit the four minute media timeout. Wisconsin basketball brought to

USC twenty. This is a Badger basketball from their field.

(35:00):
Let's get a US Banks scoreboarding update of the game
going on in the big ten. Five minutes left in
the first half and Eugene the Oregon Ducks leading for
New twenty five. Twenty three other scores in the top
twenty five Xavier Leeds Marquette forty five thirty one, more
than twelve and a half minutes left in that game,
Auburn top ranked Alvin Tigers slip past Georgia seventy to

(35:21):
sixty eight, and Alabama beat Kentucky one o two to
ninety seven four minutes left to the first half. Here
in LA In Wisconsin, thirty USC twenty eight teams with
seven turnovers. Otherwise, the Badgers are shooting fifty five percent
for the field, six to thirteen for three, USC just

(35:43):
seven and nineteen from the floor.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Ohlesky's A nine assists. I mean that balls finding where
you've got USC with only four.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
As we clawed outside left against Kamari McGee working over
an ag screen feeds, Ablo tries a three right side
off the rim and out no good. The rebound of
Wisconsin ears John Blackwell on the run to the line,
runs it out klesmen left corner and Abo gets out
on Max who will bring it back out front. High
screen from Amos Lesban throwing the winter rotates the right

(36:10):
side to Blackwell. A toss for Amos flips to McGee.
Here the left corner shot clock is at ten. Kamari
against Saint Thomas McGee left the lane got a round
him through the lane, throws the max three shot right
corner off the rim, short, no good offensive rebound. McGhee
like he got fouled too. That's good hustle from Camari McGee.
They're gonna get ibo on the foul That'll be his first.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
I think one of the most impressed with, more than anything,
is the energy that Wisconsin has played it. They're matching USC.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Yes they are.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
That's what they usc That's what you think energy. They're gonna, Oh,
hustle you. They're gonna work here. That hasn't been the case.
A couple of balls, but not I mean not a lot.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Camary McGee at the line, Badgers in the one in one.
Their front end for Kamarai is good. He's gonna fifteen
of eighteen at the foul line this season. He had
nine points on Tuesday against Ohio State. It's averaging a
bit more than twenty two minutes of playing time per game.
Talking to him this week, that is certainly been a

(37:14):
factor in if the increased confidence then shooting the lights
out from the three point line. HiT's plulled free throws
thirty two to twenty Wisconsin three fifteen remaining in the half.
That's all is illegal screen. Yeah, offensive foul is Jaday.
He just got wiped out. That's been clawed with his
second foul.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
I was just gonna and he's got two. But you
know what Scott's also done. They've taken him out of
the game. His by language right now is terrible.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
Well, a bad pass McGhee stolen away by Ag on
the Breakfallay and he'll spike it.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
With a right hand.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
That's the one way to get the energy right back.
Little pick six there thirty two to twenty two Wisconsin.
So he's don't see Kamara bigg No, he doesn't mean
just to fifty five left, first half, the geek kills
the dribble, he'll throw the black Well gribbles off the
right wing, goes to the goal, runs and one Sean
Blackwell with a grown man take and a three point

(38:08):
opportunity here for Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
And that's three on egys Well.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
Yeah, is Sean ag that's been a flawed coming out
of the game. Ag still in there at the moment
and also men sending no one else over the scores table.
Thirty four to twenty two. Now he will Harris and
Hornery will be coming in for USC, sixteen senior from Australia.

(38:37):
The only returning scholarship player of this roster from a
year ago, Andy Enfeld, now the coach AT's SMU first
year for Eric Musselman here at USC.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
That's the US up by forty against Miami, right, so
he's doing all right for himself.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
They're okay, yeah, a team here in the Elite eight
a few years ago. Free throw is good thirty five
twenty two Wisconsin to forty two left in the first half,
Thomas outside left match up with Carter Gilmore now Janicky
on the switch. It's past ol' Hornery at the top
hands the back that Thomas pull up right lane line
twelve foot or no good tipped up and yanked down
by Jack Janicky for Wisconsin. A lead fee to Blackwell.

(39:16):
To the front court is John Fans out to the
left wing as the Badgers will reset run some offense.
McGee right wing. Pamari gives it up to Nolan Winter
baseline right, shakeson Ornery puts it on the deck, pivots
upright hand sweet Land Winter with seven thirty seven twenty
two Wisconsin two o eight left and a half. Saint

(39:40):
Thomas to the front court for USC, I screened from
Kevin Patton. Let's throw out the hornery fakes the three kills,
the dribble near the free throw line, needs some help.
Gets a flashing Leslie yates to the rim and his
runner is short, but he has fouled on the play
and he'll earn free throws. That's Carter Gilmore, his first one,

(40:04):
fifty three left and a half fifteen point lead for
Wisconsin at thirty seven to twenty two. It was Lee
eight seventy eight percent free throw shooter coming into the game.
That he is zero for two so far today, two
shots here.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
And there. Wisconsin got a little bit out of position
because Kamara McBee tries to deny the ball handler and
then back to where that's where that happens. But you
can live with Kamari being aggressive there because because the
guards are not comfortable right now for USC we're talking
about how big they are, how strong they are, how
do you want to get downhill? They haven't been able

(40:40):
to do any of them. Known as you mentioned that.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
The frustration and it looks just interesting right now, right
like it really irustrated us. Leeate's transferred from Washington injured
did not play for the Huskies last season. Missed the
first free throw, good with the second. So it's thirty
seven to twenty three Wisconsin with a minute fifty left
in the half. Here's McGee working against Paton on the
right wing. Gamaari, we'll flip the Nolan Wins out front.

(41:06):
It was off the Blackwell Blackwell right lane line on
the take knocked the way Yates went off of Blackwell's
leg and out of bounds. So that's going to be
turnover number nine for Wisconsin here in this first half
st he's going to be a fourteen.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
Yeah, you know, like I mean to say nine first
half turnovers. Still have a lead man.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
There's Wesley Yeates turning down the screen from ornery left
lane line. Runs it up right hand good Yates would
have good take thirty seven to twenty five Wisconsin, one
twenty five left to the break. Blackwell a pass for Gilmore,
a flipper Jack Jicky High on the right. You'll feed
winsor rotates to Blackwell in the left lane. John will
get toss to Gilmore. McGee on the left side. Caamori's

(41:47):
left open STAPs off at three. Nailed it Comari McGee
fifty five and a half percent from three coming into
the game, and knew that right on the release. Forty
to twenty five Wisconsin, one minute up till halftime, Yates
off a high screen from Ornery, backing on McGee, turns
out the warner. He couldn't control the pass. Now he
does left to the circle, a pass for Saint Thomas.

(42:10):
Janiki defense, I'll take Saint Thomas out the corner. He
tend to shoot Thomas again, backing on Janicki backing left
of the lane. Man Janiki goes down, Thomas down, Winter down,
shot clock winding down, goes out of bounds and to
belong to Wisconsin. With thirty six point four seconds left
and a half, and.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
They are just collapsing. Anytime that ball gets anywhere near
that paint, they are just collapsing.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
Thirty six point four left and the half. Forty to
twenty five Wisconsin. Josh Cohen coming back in here for USC.
The Badgers have Gilmour, Blackwell, Winter, Tanjay and Plint Plusman
on the floor. Fifteen point lead Wisconsin, thirty six point

(42:59):
four left in the first half, and see we're going
to make Wisconsin work to bring it up the floor.
Here as Gilmore will throw it in. See hit the
Blackwell single coverage. Wesley Yeanks Blackwell left hand dribble up
the left sideline, gets it across the midstrive down the

(43:20):
twenty five seconds left and a half, and then Yates
with a little hip check there on Blackwell near the
center circle. That's his second foul and they let one go.
They did the second time. I didn't understand what you're
trying to get there. Badgers are in the double bonus.
John Blackwell with fourteen first half points, two of two

(43:40):
at the foul line. Badgers are five of six at
the line of the first half, twenty six point one
left and a half. First free throw Blackwell, He's good.
It's been plawed coming back in for Wesley Yeanks on
twenty five Wisconsin. Second free throw coming up with a sophomore.

(44:04):
John Blackwell guys the rem sence it HiT's it give
him sixteen of the first half. Jedaiky is in for
Nolan Winter. Shot clock is off, twenty six seconds left
in the half, forty two to twenty five Wisconsin. He's
Desmond Claude up the left sideline front court for usc

(44:26):
Blackwell defense. Claude walks the dribble near half court down
the fourteen seconds left in the half. Claude high on
the left, still rocks the dribble. Ten seconds left, claud
to the free throw line. It's at the abo against
Tanjay left elbow jumper away, it's off the rim, notes
Saint Thomas, the rebound and the putback, and that's how

(44:47):
the first half will ends. So a put back from
Saint Thomas. But the Badgers go into the locker room
with a fifteen point lead here in Los Angeles. When
they're not turning it over, they're off fully dangerous. The
Badgers fourteen to twenty four from the field at seven
to fifteen from three at the half. Wisconsin forty two,

(45:09):
USC twenty seven. We're back with a halftime report presented
by Culvers. This is Badger basketball from their field each
USC we get ready for the second half was Tuesday night.
The Badgers work seemingly in command of seventeen at the
breakover Ohio State, and then that game got way too interesting,
so which we will see how sc comes out here

(45:30):
starts second out. Their hottest player, Desmond Claude, did not score,
but nor did John.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Tan Jet In the first half well, and the thing
with Desmond Claude did score correct, only took three shots.
Uh huh, So you know early here he's going to
look to get involved and really try to put pressure
on the rim. And I think that's the biggest thing.
See if you gets some foul called if not, but
Wisconsin's done a good job of guarding without having the

(45:56):
file it really has. Again, I think there's part of that,
but you have to make sure early and often know
where you're at, don't lose him so he gets comfortable
and gets going. We sell that a little bit with
Bruce Thornton against Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (46:08):
Will see the Trojans have the ball first. USC will
move to our left. We're in the second half forty
two to twenty seven. Wisconsin gets at four. The second
half of play. This road swing will continue Tuesday night
at eight thirty tip off Central Time, as the Badgers

(46:29):
take on UCLA at Paul Pavilion. Tibouzalapo will be in
bounding up there with Thomas Age along with Wesley Yates
and Desmond Claude. Badgers with their usual starting five, Blackwell, Klesman,
Tanjay Winter and Stephen Crowell.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
Now match the energy to start the second half.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
Badgers had plenty others, you know, the eleven assists of
the fourteen bucket's really a fussi Quolisconsin through the first
twenty of the second half is underway. Saint Thomas will
get it started, throwing the Yates outside lefts Yates throwing
to Desmond. Claude now at the top, gets a screen
from Abo driving right lane to the cup of the

(47:16):
layup is good and won and boy, you can see
that would coming. They want to try to get Claude going.
They run a play for him and he has a
three point chance to begin the second half well, and it.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Was just a simple down screen into a bull screen.
Because of that, the screen came. Clark Gilmour was a
little slow to get there. John Blackwell was the one
that got screened. Ye call him an ato normally after
the timeouts. Well, that's just your first play coming out
of the half, knowing need they needed to get him going.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
Where you throw is good. The foul is on tan
j forty two to thirty Wisconsin hopingy minutes second half,
Badger's moving to our rights. Nolan Winston against Abo. If
he did Tanjay on the left plane now it's past
left of the lane. It's crowd posted gun Claud backing
his crowd backing, still backing well, have shoulder turn up
right hand, good boy. He had the advantage there and

(48:07):
Stevie took advantage well, and.

Speaker 2 (48:09):
He took his time, had the advantage, but didn't rush
any point.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
Forty four to thirty wisconsint. We're forty five seconds into
the second half. Thomas throwing high on the left for Yates,
feeds Claude top of the circle, a screen from Abo.
There's Claude operates against Tanjay shot bake ducks in shoot
scores off the glass, so Errigett Claude the ball, getting
him in some positions to operate. Forty four to thirty
two Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
It's the same play though, pund scream ball.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
Screen ton Jay outside lefts We're throwing the nole in
the winter out between the circles, a hand off the
Klesman as against Ablo at pasto winter. He's free low
on the riot. He'll catch, turn and finish.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
And if USC's gonna switch that ball screen actual, they're
gonna continue to get the ball in the post.

Speaker 1 (48:51):
Forty six thirty two Wisconsin. And then at twenty five
gone by second half. Laud on the ag high screen,
Clad Low on the left, spins on Crow up right hand,
tough shot back of the rim, no good and the
rebound of Nolan Winter. Here it comes Blackwell pushing for
Wisconsin to the line, down the lane to the rim,
runs it up and end Blackwell with eighteen forty eight

(49:13):
thirty two Wisconsin a minute forty five into the second half,
bad against Blackwell a handoff the Yates and again in
that dhow that foul is called on Desmond Claude and
that's gonna be his third dribble handoff. By the way,
if it's at DHO, that's dribble handoff.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
And what happened is when you don't play off two
feet yep, that's when you get your files.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
Watch days in there with the ball as Nolan Winter
a pass for Klesman brings it out front, is to
tan Jay High on the right. Three feeds Max. Let's
apply three if it goes, and it does from the
left side, second head from distance for Klesband fifty one
thirty two Wisconsert to ten gone by second half. Thomas
throwing to a g at the top of the circle

(50:03):
left hand, hippie dribble, gives it up to Saint Thomas.
He'll try a three, and it's a right back at
you from the left of the wheels. Fifty one to
thirty five. Wisconsin. It's going to a half of this
end of the second half. Blackwell in the front court
for Wisconsin. Blackwell, light of the lane, turns it back
out to Stephen Crowd refeeds Blackwell, he'll try a three

(50:24):
right side rattles out no good Babo the rebound for USC.
A boos the Loabo to the front court to flip
to Saint Thomas, feeds ag gets it back to Thomas
outside left to the free throw line, out the abo
for three on the left side. Good first three for Abos,
a thirty nine percent shooter from distance coming in fifty

(50:45):
one thirty eight. Wisconsin was seventeen minutes remaining. If you're
a Wisconsin, runs some good offense here Blackwell the right
side dribbles off the wings Blackwell and the lane lost
his balance and walk to the ball, and.

Speaker 2 (50:57):
That's where right right there, like just know you got
run some good offense and energy and the billy's starting
to kind of favor USC. They just hit a couple
of good you know, big time threes. Run it right there.
John just tries to overpenetrate, and you get in trouble
when you over penetrate there.

Speaker 1 (51:12):
I just go to their bench. They got McGee out
there with Potter, gill More, Tan j Blackwell and Winter
rounding out the five. Kevin Patton back in for the Trojans.
Theres when Claude coming out, picked up that third foul
a moment ago fifty one thirty eight Wisconsin with sixteen
fifty three remaining, and Wesley Yates will bring it up

(51:35):
full of the Trojans. Seven points for him so far today.
Ibo outside right, he'll hook at the patent at the
top of the circle high screen. Agent Patton gives it
to Thomas up top inside feed Ag catches turns up
right hand short got his own rebound one pop up
good off the window. Shan Ag earned it.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
He has nine and I'm gonna say it again. Get
a good offense possession.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
There's Blackwell, pull up jump the lane. No good in
the rebound ABO fifty one to forty Wisconsin, sixteen twenty
remaining off the floor is Saint Thomas. He'll let it
fly for three it's off the rim and in shooters
bounce for Saint Thomas. The Trojans are within eight.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
You could have seen, yeah, move the ball side to side.
They're forcing those quick shots. Move its side to side.

Speaker 1 (52:23):
Here's a three for Tanjay off the rim. No good,
Trojans clear the rebound. Here comes Abo fifty one forty
three Wisconsin. Abo spinning out the Ag bakes the three
covered up by Nolan Winter. Ag gives off the Thomas
Thomas dribbling right Falin extendedd which to Ag He'll try
a three nook rebound. Nolan Winter fifteen thirty eight to play.

(52:46):
Fifty one forty three Wisconsin. There's Blackwell outside right rose
A Nolan Winter turns to McGhee. Kamari curls off the
left wing. Lisa for Kilnore top of the arm. Tarder
one dribble pops at the Winter left with a circle
reaching in eight. It's your group's possession. Now it's Blackwell
ten to shoot Tonjay high on the left. Tanj was

(53:08):
six to shoot Tonjay finds Blackwell three to shoot DP
three Flackwell too long. No Good yates the rebound for
the Trojans.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
That didn't get multiple sides, right, they all got the ball.
You know.

Speaker 1 (53:18):

Speaker 2 (54:30):
Talk about you're offensively here, multiple sides of the floor right,
get usc to shift. They're gonna try to camp, but
they're gonna try to make those quick shots happen. That's
why the runs happened. Defensively yet given up thirteen points
in the last three minutes, but offensively make us work
this time.

Speaker 1 (54:47):
Max Pleusman, honded by Desmond laud acts at the top,

A fee to claud five points for Claude all in
the second half. They're getting him involved, Rocks. The dribble
between the Arcs against McGee is it the Yates wide
of the circle. Yates looks to Abo to the free

he is off to Gilmore for three and it's off
the rim. No good for the left wing west of
the Yates the rebound thirteen and a half to play

Way stolen by Klesman and Max with a defensive play
again for the Badgers. Here's McGee high on the left.
Four Wisconsin. A toss for Gilmore the More one ripple
flips to Tan Jay High and the right sends it
back to Gilmore. Road J's left wing to McGee inside
feed caught by crowd midpost, left out the Kamari left corner. Three,
it is off the rim and it comes down to Labo.

(57:18):
And here it comes Saint Thomas for a USC off
the right wing and the lane flipped up left hand
miss with a foul that'll be assessed to Stephen Krow
and has three on Steve.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
And offensively for Wisconsin. The reason USC is getting these
offensive looks is because the offensive end for Wisconsin. Right now,
the ball's not moving multiple times. I've said that a lot.
But the cur of Gilmore three, the ball only moved
one time. The Kamari McGee corner three, the ball only
got reversed one time through the middle. So when I
talk about ball reversals, you have to cut the floor

(57:50):
in half, all right, It's got to go side to
side like that. That way you're getting multiple reversals. When
it doesn't, the defense can stay loaded up. And that's
what us He's been able to do. If you get
them moving side to side, they're not gonna stay loaded up.
They're not not a great defensive principal team. Right.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
First free throw is good for Thomas fifty three, forty six, Wisconsin,
with twelve fifty five to play. Second free throw for
Saints and Thomas it is good. Next two, here's a
Northern Colorado, a couple of years of loyal in Chicago,
fifty three forty seven Wisconsin. Thege along with Plesman, Nolan Winter,

(58:31):
John Blackwell, and Carter Gilmour of the five of the floor.
Here's Wegee baseline right. It goes through the lane fines

turn up right hand Joe Sean ag is. We're playing
good ball in these last few games with the Trojans.
Fifty five forty nine, Wisconsin. Twelve minutes to play. Gil

(59:20):

for klesmanol right wing, that's out high up the inside.
A toss for Gilmore, rotates, Blackwell flips a three. It's
off the rim. No good, Hobo the rebound here it
comes Thomas. We'll lay up the right side, left hand ribble,
top of the keith. He's abo open three left side

(59:40):
off the right side iron. No good. They'll get Ag
over the back, I believe. And then Ag went to

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Wiscon's one of eight from three to the second half,
and obviously that's shooting on top of not having enough
ball reversals and kind of getting the USC to move
side to side defensively has allowed USC to get back
in this ballgame. Wisconsin still a by six and feels
a little bit like they've weathered the storm here but
now offensively do what you need to do and defensively,

(01:01:03):
make sure you stay tight at times there they got
spread out a little too much.

He was good, he had Here's Kamar McGhee up the

right in the lane, goes to the bucket up left
hand of the reverse. No good. Kevin Patton the remount
and here comes Saint Thomas for USC.

Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
That's why Kamari missed layup.

Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
Okay, and Kamari steels a pass inside. There's a Desmond
Claude trying to go inside and Camari stepped in front
and picked it off. There's Winter finds McGee on the
left wing. Six point lead Wisconsin, eleven minutes remaining. Save
you're amos in there for the Badgers. He'll throw it
to Winter, a toss for McGee out to X. He
tried to shake and go and instead he shuffled turnover Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Even though I was gonna say, even though there's a
turnover there, Matt, what happened? The ball was moving at
least right. You could see that they're trend in the
right direction there. Now defensively, stay loaded up, don't let
us get to the bucket.

Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
Eleven turnovers for Wisconsin, twelve for USC. Thomas out front
throwing the Claude high on the left against McGee. Claude
driving in the lane up lowing the left in hand
won Desmond Claude. He was shut out of the first half,
doing some work in the second that his team is
now within four.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
What did I just say, don't let him get to
the bucket? What happens right there? They spread out as
much as they were gapped in together in this first half.
They're starting to spread out a little too much.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Rowland Winter, with his second foul, the team's fourth caught
a little better than seventy seven percent at the free
throw line this year.

Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
This is a USC team that only makes about six
and a half threes a game, right, don't get you.
It's okay if they sprayed out and their shoots them threes,
the rethrow is good.

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
It's a three point game now, fifty five to fifty two,
as close as it's been since the early minutes. Ten
thirty seven remaining. Nolan Winter gets at the Klesman. Here's
Max to the line down the lane to the rim

Rebound Winter off Wisconsin, and here comes John Blackwell for
the batchers. Blackwell barely down, laying to the rim.

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
High off the glass. Got it?

Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
That counts of the foul? Oh want to move by
John Blackwell? He hasn't n one.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
You could say that would have moved, move, would have
finished all the above.

Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
If the foul and Yates that's his third ag back
in Patton is out. Remember ag has four fouls fifty
nine fifty two Wisconsin, with ten oh six remaining.

in airball and pulling it away is Saint Thomas for USC.

(01:05:25):
Badger's up by five Thomas off the AG screen inside
feed nine It stolen away and there was Nolan Winter
getting this feel. Here's McGee finds Amos back to Kamari rotates,
Winter eats klesban High on the right, Max left and
Ribble blows off the right wing in the lanes. Pivot's
gotta throw one up. He doesn't hits it in the paint.

(01:05:45):
Max Klesman with a bucket seven point lead for the Badgers.

Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
And they're letting him play. It's physical on both sides here.
You got to finish through the context.

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Eight fifty five to play sixty one fifty four Wisconsin
Desben Claude sets the floor for USC, turned down the
AG screen, dribling at the top of the circle. Bigee
trying to get into him. Plot gives it up. Not
to wait by Winter, but the fowl that's three on
Nolan Winter and five on Wisconsin winch. You thought he

(01:06:14):
had a steal and a breakaway.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
I thought he did too.

Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
Amos comes out as well. So it's Plesband, McGee, Gilmour, Blackwell,
and Crow. Five teen founds for Wisconsin, three for USC,
sixty one fifty four of the Badgers, eight forty three remaining.
Saint Thomas in bounds to AG gets it back to
Thomas right of the circle. High screen AG Thomas picked
up by crowd out. Thomas moving in the lane, leans

(01:06:43):
all away left of the lane, Miss Badley, rebound, Crow
good d there and here comes Jean Blackwell for Wisconsin.
The left sideline of the front court. Max Klesband outside right,
bounces the Crow right of the lane. Steve back again
turns away, went up, got mugged. I had Yates there,

(01:07:04):
Thomas over the top, and they're gonna get Yates for
the foul. And that's four on Wesley Yates. Steven Crow
will go to the free throw line for the first
time today. He's eighty four percent from him to strike
sixty one fifty four Wisconsin, with eight minutes and fourteen
seconds to play.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
I've done a good job of weathering that run by
usc and how's kind of going just back and forth,
back and forth a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
First free throw is good for Krow JANICKI will check
in for Klesman Crow with eight points here this afternoon.
Second free throw rolls in and leeks Stevie over his last.
Now just the eighth game of the run is twenty
one of twenty one. At the foul line, sixty three

(01:07:54):
to fifty four, Wisconsin, eight oh seven to play. Thomas
lines up back cutting Claude went up. He lost it,
but a foul is called. They're gonna say Jarred loose.
They'll get John Blackwell with his first foul and Desmond
Claude will go to the free throw line. Is definite

(01:08:18):
contact there from Blackwell. Claude with eight points here in
the game, all in the second half. First free throw
is in the air in good brings in the transfer

improved player last year. Average better than sixteen points for
Sean Miller's Club sixty three fifty five Wisconsin eight oh three.

(01:08:42):
Remaining second free throw for the six to sixth junior
out of New Haven, Connecticut, Desmond Claude. It rattles out
doing good rebound. Tipton Obo had it but ran out
a room as he stepped on the right baseline. Wisconsin.
Ball up by a.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
And as much as you say up by eight, it's
a game that feels like this is like a two
point continue to add to the lead.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
A little bit right harder. Gilmore throwing to Blackwell high
on the rights. Blackwell flips to Gilmore, rotates to Janicki
inside feed and Coral bobbled it. Threw his brows it
back out the Blackwell He's left up and tries at
three and it's off the rim. No good Abo the
rebound for usc Ull see dodge one. Here's Claude left

(01:09:28):

on Gilmore in the lane, he'll pivot stoops it up
left hand wild shot, no good rebound tapped and gathered
by Kamori McGhee along the sideline. Now McGee up the
middle of the front course to the line down the
lane to the rim, lay up good Magee just taking
it to the cup. Sixty five fifty five Wisconsin, seven

sweet spot for Kamari McGhee that left corner.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
He drills it.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Sixty eight fifty seven, Wisconsin, six and a half minutes
to play.

Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
You don't want to give Kamara McGee that that look
from the quarner.

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
AG at the top goes off to the Yates driving
on Blackwell reverse layup at the bottom of the rim
rebound kraw Here comes Blackwell pushing for a Wisconsin Blackwell
left lane line pull up thirteen foot or good John
Blackwell little pull up mid range Time out USC as
the Badgers now lead by thirteen and this will be

(01:11:50):
In the meantime, the officials are over looking at the monitor.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
I don't know what they're looking at it.

Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Gret Garden was talking to one of the officials as
let's see, had took a time out.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I will say this though, when Kamara McKee drilled that
corner three, he definitely looked over at Caleb Williams in
the group that was over their heads a few choice words.
So I am if you don't love Kamara McGee, you
will have that one helps play on the photo.

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Nothing that warrant a play un foul.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
So there you go.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
They were checking for a possible playground and you just
heard there is no player. I thought Blackwell was talking.
So they you know, damn game understands game, you know,
just thought, you know, there's a packer fans.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Out there, whiches. I like to know that Kamar mcget
let the Bear's quarterback have it a little bit. I
think that's a good thing.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
It is, you know, it's still a little work to
do yet, but yeah, they.

Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Have a little fun. I have a little fun. That's always. Yeah.
I loved it, but that's what that's what Kamar brit
just energy constant. Paul is Paul take a break even
he hit that three, but then running down the floor
with the wind to play it just that's what he
always brings, no matter what.

Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
If he's out there with Blackwell, Klesbett, Bill Moore and Crowell.
Both teams have two timeouts available. Asconton has the possession
era a long way to go before we let you know.
Here's Desmond Claude, front court of the right side high screen.
Abbo hal Klesman picks up Claude driving the right lane line,

(01:13:33):
lots the handle, got it back fans out to the
right wing. It's at the Saint Thomas in the lane lane,
throws it up miss but crow guilty of the foul
and that's going to be number four on Stephen Crowell.
So I get Nolan Winzer back into the game for Stevie.

(01:13:54):
Nine points so far today for Crowd three throws coming
up for Saint Thomas, He's two of two at the line,
sixteen points and Mega's seventeen. It's the first free throw

Trojans and for Patent five point forty four remaining seventy

dribbling right on the lane, finds Dovin Winsor down the lane,
slam dunk Dolan Winter, Oh, a little drive, a little dish,
and a little dunk.

Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Six for six on that afternoon here for Nolan is superficient.

Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Seventy two fifty eights Wisconsin, five p. Twenty five remaining
Abo bil line jump is good, It'll catch easy. Jay
makes it. Seventy two to sixty Wisconsin, five point fifteen
remaining Enter throwing the McGee outside left Kamari picked up
the dribble. They'll toss at the quarter. Gilmore bounces the

Klesman high in the right. Max fifteen out high near
the center circle ten in the shock clock now plesbmant
left lane line pivots goes up and it'll roll in
for Max. Klesman seventy four to sixty Wisconsin. Cluad the
other way for usc AG the high screen quad brings

(01:16:05):

Thomas steps left, three in the air straight away off
the left side eye are no good rebound. Kamari McGee
ripped it away from Ag. There and here's Caamari to
the front court. Gee high and the right four twenty
five or many seventy four to sixty Wisconsin. Lesbit outside

(01:16:28):
left curls around a high screen for Winter. Here's Max
right lean line stops inside. AG cut him off down
to knowl It takes the three side steps left, takes
the three back rim no good rebound tip Ag out
of bounds. Last touch by ag He and Gilmour. We're going,
we're battling for it. AG tipped it out of bounds
seventy four to sixty, Wisconsin, four to ten to play

(01:16:50):
the eight's out. Patten in for the Trojans just overall.

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
Here his last possession, offensively moving the ball, sharing the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
Here's Max right Laneline pull up jumper is good? Oh,
Max Klesman doing the bulk of his work inside the
ark here today Seventy six to sixty, Wisconsin, three point
fifty five to play. Claude out front against McGee, throws
to Patton in the right wing, whips it inside, ag
catches single coverage Nolden Winter and I got the patent.

(01:17:21):
He's with Blackwell Goadden lets it go for three, and
it's good. Kevin's Patten his first bucket of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
It's the gamble there. Wow, it gets their defense out
of sorts.

Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
Seventy six sixty three Wisconsin, three point thirty remaining Kamarie
McGee pivots, throws to Gilmore, a pass for Klesman out
between the arcs. It's got a screen from Gilmore if
he wants it long three Klesman back rim no good
and the rebound of Kevin Patton probably not the best
shot though. Here's Yates outside right or check that patent.

(01:17:55):
At the top end of ag up over Winter rockets
one up. No good rebound is tossed out of bounds
at what belonged to Wisconsin. As we have the under
four media time out thirteen point lead now for Greg
Guard's Badgers three to zero six to play Wisconsin seventy
six USC's sixty three back in the moment. This is

old Dominion freight line, Old Dominion freight line, where it's
hard to be the best of the game. It is
proud to be the official freight carrier of Wisconsin Athletics. Well,
John Blackwell got him started. But once you talked during
the break that combo and Nolan Winter and Kamari McGee

(01:18:37):
they combined for twenty three points, thirteen of those coming
from Nolan. That both really efficient out there today, well.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Super efficient in the way that they've played offensively. But
the energy by Kamari defensively kind of creating some stuff
and then he hits that big corner three Nolan Winter
six of seven, He's done what he's needed to do.
Off like it's just been those two have just been
so solid and hasn't been sexy with what they've done it,

(01:19:06):
but it's just been solid this and when the run
from USC happened, then all of a sudden they weathered
it and then the solid took open like it just
felt like they were just constantly jipping away, chipping away,
and then you look at it. They've built it. They've
built the thirteen point leave themselves.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Now look at it. Closed the deal three to zero,
six to play seventy six sixty three. Wisconsant brons past McGhee.
A little backcourt resistance from Kevin Patton was to the
cross half court for Gilmore. A toss for Blackwell. You
see with five team fouls Wisconsant with seven Gilmour between
the circles left side for McGee. Famari he's with Abo

(01:19:44):
sends it back out the Blackwell. The shot clock at
ten Blackwell against Wesley Yates. Blackwell rocks the dribble, going
to work light of the lane, goes to.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
The cup and runs it in and guard play has
been really good to Joe Bugel Ammax doesn't. They've been
able to turn the corners and get to the buccaneer
a second.

Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Half Seventy eight sixty three Wisconsin, two thirty remaining. The
ATE's at the left point. He's with Bigie Yates right
and Ribble hooks it out Thomas and try to get
it to the left corner, but it's knocked out of
bounds by Klesbant. They were trying to get patent over
there in the left corner, but Klesman having none of it.
Eighteen to shoot two twenty four to play Seventy eight
sixty three Wisconsin, and now Desmond Claude ready to come

(01:20:24):
back in for usc. He's in for Yates, Thomas sideline left,
will inbount it into Ag left of the circle. Thomas
is it out to Thomas into AG and he'll send
it in for Sean Ag with the dunk. Seventy eight

(01:20:45):
sixty five Wisconsin, two ten to play.

Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
Yeah, just by the way that Wiscoons's chocks the free
throws here, that's what you want to find and that's
what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
They have Klesman trying to dribble across half court and
split two defenders and he got bumped by both of them.
They'll get the foul on Claude that is his fourth
and the team's sixth. Two oh six remaining. Seventy eight
sixty five Wisconsin. John Blackwell front court, sideline right, will

(01:21:16):
end bound. Blackwell looks and looks, finds Klesman near the
mid stright and he's with Thomas. Max with a pass
for Gilmour feeding Blackwell off the left wing, cut off
of the block out through crowd badgers, burning time here
ten on the shock clock. Now Max light of the lane,
backing in the pain contested shot.

Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
It is off the rim.

Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
No but a foul and Max Klesbant will go to
the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
And I hate to say it like this, but Wisconsin
with a ten point lead with two minutes left, the
way that they shoot from the free throw line, the
way they get to the free throw line feel good.

Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
Yep, they feel great. They're nine of a level today.
Saint Thomas with a foul his first seventy eight to
sixty five Wisconsin, a minute fifty to play. First free
throw for Klesmant is good. Seventeen for Max Klesmant this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Still only two of eight from three. But when it's
not there, then take advantage of one.

Speaker 1 (01:22:23):
Is and he has that's exactly what he's done. Both
free throws are good. Give him eighteen eighty to sixty five,
whis constant. With a minute forty eight to play. Claude
to the front court for the Trojans, high screen aging
Claude now against Crow. Claude low on the right, takes
it left and throws it away. Paton tried to save,
cannot out of bounds to Wisconsin. Caught in no man's

(01:22:45):
land there and a turnover for USC.

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
Fifteen of them at and there's been a lot of
USC possessions that they've been caught in no man's language.

Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
John Blackwell right wing for Wisconsin. Down to ninety seconds
to play at a fifteen point lead for the Badgers,
and a bump as Abo bumping with Blackwell beyond the
free point line on the right side of the Trojans.
Fans now heading for the exits Blackwell to the free

(01:23:16):
throw line. This will be a one to one, eighteen
fouls on USC eighty to sixty five Wisconsin with a
minute twenty seven remaining. John Blackwell twenty four points here today,

(01:23:36):
and the free throw is good.

Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
It's just a really good I'll say it. With one
third one twenty seven left win by Wisconsin. Mis usc
team's been playing some really really good basketball with wins
at Illinois and then you know they put up ninety
nine against Iowa win nine eighty nine.

Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
I mean it's second free throw is good. Eighty two
sixty five Wisconsin. A minute twenty to play, here's the
Yates left lane. Life flipped it up, no good rebound,
bat it in the air, pulled down by Klesman. Four Wisconsin.
We're gonna see Marcus Ilver at the next whistle is
Max to the front court with a basketball. Eighty two
sixty five Wisconsin. Blackwell right of the center circle again, Klesman,

(01:24:20):
play catch near half court. One minute remaining, Pleasman directing
a little traffic with the shot block at ten. Pleasman
holds a ball off his right hip. Shot clock is
at seven high screen Blackwell. Klesman behind the back, flipped
a D three and it's off the back of the rim.
No good ag the rebound. With forty five seconds to play,
seventeen point leave Wisconsin to pass toll it away by Blackwell.

(01:24:41):
He'll glide to the cold send it in with the
right hand. Time out Wisconsin for a sub as the
Badgers now lead at eighty four to sixty five. There's
your extamation point. A lot of performers for the Badgers,

(01:25:02):
as the Wisconsin fans here at the Galen Center are
loving it. Chris Hodges, Marcus Silver, Jack Robinson, Isaac Gard
and Jack Janicki on the floor for Wisconsin. Thirty eight
point six seconds remaining.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
Say pretty good afternoon for mister John Blackwell. Twenty eight
points ten of sixteen. Daniel free tag will come in
for Jack Janicky.

Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
So here we go. The inbounds pass to Wesley Yeates.
Trojans got to it in three at fifty five fifty
two all Wisconsin. After that, Yeates low on the left
throws it up to the end of the left hand.
Eighty four to sixty seven Wisconsin. A seat putting on
backcourt pressure retag against Yates. Free tag now with Patton

(01:25:56):
doubling and retreat drivell A high pass pulled down by Hodges.
Out of twenty seconds to play. Chris Hodges that it
poked away. Ag comes up with it. Here's Kevin Patton.
He'll bounce at the Thomas and he'll punk it. Eighty
four sixty nine Wisconsin, eleven seconds left free tag USC
continues to press the head. It goes to Jack Robinson

(01:26:20):
left side to the front court, gets it to Isaac
Gard and he'll hold it. Time runs out and the
winning streak is at seven for the Wisconsin Badgers. What
work turned in by Greg Guard's team in La this afternoon,
Just some.

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Really solid performance again. I go back to it and
it all started the first half, only allowing USC to
have twenty seven points. It gave you a little bit
of that buffer when USC was gonna make a run.
They made a run to get it within three, and
then Wisconsin had the answer.

Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
Did they ever? Fifty six percent shooting for the Badgers,
he put on a hard charge as you might expect.
The Badgers led forty two to twenty seven at the half.
The Trojans got it to a one possession game, and
then for there the Badgers took command. Your final score
this afternoon Wisconsin eighty four, USC sixty nine. We're back

(01:27:19):
with a Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show. This is Badger
basketball from lear Field. Badgers let USC by fifteen at
the half, they won by fifteen. Got little well squirrely
there for a while. At fifty five to fifty two,
and then the Badgers went on a big run in
route to an eighty four to sixty nine victory over
the Trojans Wisconsin. Now with seven straight wins, five and

(01:27:41):
two of the Big Ten, fifteen and three overall, come
out here on the road. You turn it over the
first three possessions and going h oh. Once they settled down,
they were big time in really only three turnovers, but
you in the second half really just two they had.
They cleared the bench in the final minute, se was pressing,
but they were much cleaner, say with a basketball in

(01:28:02):
the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
Yeah, and I thought they just calmed down a little bit,
and then you saw what they were able to do offensively, defensively,
what they did in that first half. That gave you
the room because you knew us he was gonna make
a run at some point. With the way that they've
been playing. They weren't a team that was just gonna,
you know, cave or quits, not in their DNA, but
the response, the way they guarded that first half, it

(01:28:25):
just this team has so much balance. By the way
they go ahead and they win by fifteen. John Tanjak, Yeah,
zero point score. You tell me which Big Ten team
their leading score doesn't score, and you still win by
fifteen points. I don't know if there's a Big ten
team that could do that on the road, right, Like,

(01:28:46):
I mean all of that together, the depth of this team.
I've been asking a lot how good is this team?
How good is this team? And over the last two weeks,
I finally have said, this team is really good, not
because they have a superstar, but because they're a team.
You don't know who you can stop, you don't know
who you can take away, and there's always somebody willing

(01:29:07):
to step up and able to step up. And it's
that's why this team is so good. It doesn't matter
the environment, the situation, whatever it is. When you've go
on the road and you win out Rutgers and now
you've won at USC, which is different, you haven't ever
experienced it as a group an LA swing the pack.
You know this is now Pack twelve, but Pig ten
teams and you're a spawn like this with your leading

(01:29:28):
scorer having zero, this team good luck, yeah, good luck.
It's really good and it's really.

Speaker 1 (01:29:34):
Fun to watch. Wisconsin eighty four, USC sixty nine. We'll
I have more of our Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show
coming up. This is Badger Basketball from their field, Wisconsin
Ford Dealers postgame show as the Badgers defeat USC this
afternoon eighty four to sixty nine. We mentioned at the
half the Badgers led forty two to twenty seven at

(01:29:55):
nine turnovers, three of them coming on their first three possessions.
But when they weren't turning it over, they shot at
fifty eight percent for the floor and hit seven of
fifteen from the three point line. But USC made it charge.
Desmond Claude got going. He did not score in the
first half, he had nine in the second, including five
quick ones. It got to the point where USC got

(01:30:17):
it down to three at fifty five point fifty two
with ten forty four to play, and then Wisconsin got
back to back layups from Max Klesman and John Blackwell.
Rareshwan Age had a layup of his own to make
it fifty nine fifty four, but that was as close
as it would get for USC. Klesman got in the
paint for a jumper, Stephen Krale a couple of free

(01:30:38):
throws He's now twenty one of twenty one at the
foul line over his last eight games, and eventually a
corner pocket three from Kamari McGee gave Wisconsin a ten
point lead with seven to twenty three to play, and
it was double digits the rest of the way for
Wisconsin as the Badgers extend their winning streak to evan games.

(01:31:01):
Individual scoring John Blackwell with twenty eight points leading the way,
Max Klesmid with eighteen. He was two of nine from
the Yark did a lot of work in inside, either
getting to the bucket or a couple of mid range shots.
Thirteen points for Nolan Winter on six of seven shooting.
Kamari McGee with ten points, four assists, just one turnover.

(01:31:23):
Two of three from long range for Kamari as he
continues that blistering pace from the three point line. He
came in better than fifty five percent from three and
certainly didn't hurt that percentage today. Stephen Krow with nine points,
four for Xavier Amis and two for Carter Gilmour. If
you're just checking us out. Noticeable in the absence of

(01:31:44):
individual scoring was John Tanzie. He didn't score, took three
shots today in twenty two minutes, but his Ryan Buch
mentioned it's such as a measure of how good this
team is when your leading scorer doesn't scratch and you
go on the road and win by fifteen. And that's
exactly what the Badgers did today. Saint Thomas paced USC.

(01:32:05):
He had nineteen points fifteen to four. Rashawn ag Wesley
Yates ended up with eleven. Desmond Claude a quiet game
by his standards. He ends up with nine. He also
had five turnovers, all of his points coming in the
second half. Kevin Patton ends up with five and the
Clark slackerd has three points. Here today for USC Wisconsin

(01:32:27):
eighty four, USC sixty nine. We continue, We'll check out
that Yson out of town scoreboard. This is Badger basketball
from lear Field sixty nine. Could checking that Yon out
of town scoreboard. During the final minute In Eugene, Purdue
leeds Oregon sixty one to fifty six. Checking out some
games other games in the top twenty five, Vanderbilt leads

(01:32:50):
Tennessee sixty eight to fifty seven, about nine and a
half minutes remaining there through at the half. Number five
Florida thirty seven, Texas thirty Auburn got by a number
TWEO three Georgia loose pearls.

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Top ranked Alburn.

Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
Tiger's winner seventy to sixty eight. It was Alabama one
oh two Kentucky ninety seven. That was a top ten matchup.
Marquette falls at home to Xavier. The Musketeers beat the
seventh ranth Golden Eagles fifty nine to fifty seven. Houston
got by Central Florida sixty nine to sixty eight. Creighton
defeated number fourteen Yukon sixty eight to sixty three. Badgers

(01:33:28):
a winner this afternoon, eighty four to sixty nine. Bryan
Butch Sandyby with head coach Greig Dard will check out
that interview coming up as our Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame
show continues. This is Badger Basketball from lear Field by
Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show continues as the Badgers defeat
USC eighty four to sixty nine. Let us pause, albeit belatedly,

(01:33:52):
ten seconds for station identification ten for a ninet. This
is Badger basketball from lear Field. Fifteen point win for
the Badgers here at USA to see this afternoon. A
few minutes ago, Brian Bunch caught up with it coach
Greg guard coach.

Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
Will start here. USC got within three? What worked so well?
When they you know to answer their run.

Speaker 1 (01:34:09):
Well, we just kept playing and I think that's the
mark of a good team.

Speaker 3 (01:34:12):
And we talked about what happened at the start of
the second half to let them back in. It is
exactly what we talked about not letting happen in the
in the locker room at halftime.

Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
So you know, I thought we got a little not
as aggressive and.

Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
We didn't have the same bite to us defensively at
the start of the second half, but we got it
back and I think that was the key to get
our defensive pressure back, or we got into the ball
a little bit better and then anybody to make some
shots too, which we were able to clusem. It really
stepped up there in the second half for us to
get separation.

Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
You guys held USC to twenty seven points in the
first half. Defensive you really guarded as five. What did
work so well for you guys there?

Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
I thought we did a good job of making Abo
and Claude's life difficult and even Yates, you know, we
were into the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
We were able to keep the ball out of the
paint for the most part, and other than our turnovers and.

Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
Some offensive rebounds that we did, and I thought we
played a pretty complete half.

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
You guys, look at your leading scorer, John tonjas zero
points and you guys still win by fifteen. On the
road to talk, Explain why that's capable and why you
guys are able to do that with this group, because
it seems like everybody steps up when the time when
their numbers called.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Yeah, I think the depth of this team and the
versatility of this team, and the depth is still growing,
you know, McGee, gilmour Ilver even though he didn't play
much to Amus off the bench. You know, we've just
got a really, really deep team. And that's the mark
of a good team when you have, as I told
the team with John, if.

Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
You have a night where your leading scorer doesn't score
and you still win going away, he's carried as many
a night, right, So there's a night.

Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
I guess we'll give him today off and he'll he'll
step back in, but it's other guys stepped up and
carried the load.

Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
You guys are now seven straight wins. Obviously the locker
room is feeling good. We're hearing that right now. But
how do you focus knowing you guys have two days
in LA and then you've got UCLA coming up. You
still have to enjoy this, but this is part of
this LA trip that you know a lot of people
want to know. How do big ten teams coming out.

Speaker 1 (01:36:04):
Deal with it?

Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Well, your rest the rest of today, and it won't
take them too long a watching film to understand. We're
going to see a UCLA team that guards like we
do and and I think they're playing a little better. Obviously,
teams at home are always a little stronger. And they've
made it with a East coast trip twice. And you know, well,
I'll be excited to be in poly Pavilion. That's been

(01:36:27):
a bucket list.

Speaker 2 (01:36:27):
For me as a as a coach.

Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
But you know we'll have two days here to prepare
on Sunday and Monday, get ready for Tuesday night. All right,
thanks coach, congrats like great win. All right, thanks Brian,
all right, guys, thank you very much. Wisconsin, Wednesday, eighty four,
sixty nine,
