Speaker 1 (00:00):
Center and Madison alongside Brian Butch, your engineer, Dave McCann
and aishat Jackson. Back at our network studio. This is
Matt Lapay. We welcome you to Wisconsin basketball Big Ten action.
Here today on the home floor is the fifteen and
four Badgers, five and three in league play, taking on
the Nebraska Cornhuskers. They are twelve and seven overall, two

(00:20):
and six in conference play. They come to town having
dropped their last five outings. Before we get started, let's
pause ten seconds for station identification. Ten for an ID.
This is Badger basketball from their field. Talked about challenging schedules,
challenging stretches to a schedule. Everybody deals with it. The
Badgers are into that mode right now, a five game block,

(00:42):
four of which are on the road. They got a
split in LA. Later this week they'll be at Maryland
and then at Northwestern. Every game is important, but this
is one you talked about it, Butchie, this is one
you really need to get if your Wisconsin get back
on track, play the way you're capable of playing, and
they get to win number six and stay as high

(01:03):
in these Big Ten standings as you possibly can.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I think that's the most important thing when you look
at trying to stay in the top four of the league,
you have to win your whole games.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Well, this is a home game, This.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Is an opportunity for you against a team that is
extremely and I mean extremely desperate. Nebraska, like you said,
has lost five in a row. Here's the thing. They're
two and six. That means if the league was gonna
end today, they're not going to Indianapolis for the Big
Ten Tournament. This team's too good not to be at

(01:36):
the Big Ten Tournament. So there's a lot of desperation
there from Nebraska, and I think that's where Wisconsin has
to match that early and often in this game.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
This this thing with Nebraska, if you look at Fred
Hoiberg's record, it's not going to wow you at all,
But you have to consider what he entered into there,
just trying to get a program that's still looking for
its first NCAA tournament three they got in last year.
They're going to try to get in again this season.
But you know, they've had signature wins throughout his tenure,

(02:08):
and you know, you go to you go to Omahall
you beat Creighton, as this program did back in November.
That's gonna get attention. Beating UCLA is going to get attention.
They had one twenty straight to the home floor until
the last couple of games where they were unable to
win those. But what you you look at Nebraska, of
the of the five games they've lost, four have been gettable.

(02:30):
You look at the three conference losses Wisconsin's hack and
they've all been gettable. Right, they're right there.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I mean, and that's the thing when I look at
the Wisconsin team, Yes they have three conference losses, but
overall how it's happened, they've all been really close, they've
all been really gettable. And I think that's the biggest
thing that I look at with this team is, by
no means with those three conference losses, do you feel
like they're brought of the game. And I think that's

(02:56):
the identity of this team is even if it is
a big league, they're gonna find a way to compete.
They're going to find a way to get going. And
it all starts with John Blackwell. You saw that in
the UCLA game things weren't going right. What did John
Blackwell do? Grab the ball, went right to the front
of the rim and put pressure at the rim that's
when some threes opened up, and that's where they were
able to make the run.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
They just weren't able to get stops.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
And I think this afternoon, the most important thing is
they need to guard his five and be close, be tight.
It's not like this Nebraska team is a team full
of three point shooters. Yes, Connor Siegon's there. He'll come
off the bench. He's shooting it at forty one point
five percent from three.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
You have to know where he's at.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
But overall, stay tight, play as five on that defensive end.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
This Siegen comes off the bench, had some early games
this season where he was in the starting lineup, but
he's been a very valuable sixth man for Fred Hoiberg prevention.
He's shaking up his lineup a bit here. He had
Aaron Eulis, the Iowa transfer, starting in their last game
against USC. Now he's got Sam Hoiberg in his starting
five here today. Brian Dorsey, Larry Serado, Amy Bonner are

(04:02):
your officials for today's matchup.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
And I think one of the reasons that goes with
Sam Hoyburg is because he's consistent, you know exactly what
you're gonna get there.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Andrew Morgan the North Dakota State transfers with a good
addition to this Nebraska team. He'll jump center with Steven Krabb.
The Huskers and the traveling red unis the white trim
and the Badgers and their player designed uniforms with the
white jerseys and a little cardinal in black trim and
the Bucky Badger emblem on the shorts as well. The

(04:31):
coaching staff wearing the sneakers here today coaches versus cancer
based Greg and the show guard guarding against cancer is
sneakers designed by children here dealing with cancer, and they
did some great work getting those shoes ready to go.
Toss and tap belonged along as to Nebraska. Husker has
moved to our right and we are underway. Buketuon gel

(04:52):
right of the key goes into Andrew Morgan in the lane.
Back out to bear cup. Bukeetuon gel. It's the Sam Hoiberg.
They work it up top for Bryce Williams. He is
with Klesbant now Morgan right elbow versus crowd I hand off.
The Williams goes behind the back. Staggers gets control three
to shoot, two to shoot, butte tunjail leaning firing desperation
bricked it and that's a shock block violation.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
And we talked about Garden is five that possession should
happen every time, noh won't. But they guarded together. They
were tight, textbook defense.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And the Badgers with their first possession moving to our
left and it's John Blackwell against Bryce Williams. Blackwell at
the point angles off to the right side, flips the Klesbeant,
squares away, tries a three. It's around the ribbon out
no good Buke ting Jail the rebound four of the
Huskers and he'll bring it up the floor. Flips at
the Morgan at the top, takes a dribble to the
left side, hands off to Sam Hoiberg. Hoiberg left of

(05:47):
the lane, darted out to Butt and Jael left of
the circle, with Winter defending a toss to Williams. Are
hedging the screen from Winterard and I picked up by Blackwell,
bue king jail right side. I hand off to Juwan
Gary off the right wing and the legos up right
hand and it is off the rim and out no
good lebound Nolan Winter and at fifteen gone by no score.
Tanjay left side goes in to kraw left of the lane.

(06:07):
Morgan defending back up top for Blackwell, takes the three
at the top of the circle and he'll send it
to Masx Klesman high on the right, return past for Blackwell,
wraps at the crow left quarter feed Tonjay for three.
Good John Tanjay, who is six of seven from three
on Tuesday night. First flip is a three point hit
for Tanjay. Today, I'm in at forty in three nothing

(06:30):
Wisconsin Williams for the pass for Buke Tune Jael left
hand toss for Hoiberg bounces Morgan Williams. He'll try at
three and that's off the back of the rim. No
good to rebound. Nolan Winter one and out for the Huskers.
Blackwell up the floor full of the Badgers on the
right side, hits the brakes. He'll take the three and
he'll hit it. But we talk about how vulnerable Nebraska

(06:50):
has been to give it up to three, and they've
given up a couple of quick ones here.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah, and during that five game losing streak did give
it up ten plus threes. Right now, Wiscon's with two
and it's a great start for them.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Two minutes gone by six nothing Wisconsin is Bryce Williams
will bring it up everything eighteen and a half points
per game. It's seventeen against USC a few days ago.
Williams stop of the circle, works at right side Gary.
He'll try a three short and rebound. Gary had it
lost at klesban is there. Here comes Max Whips of
the Tanjay, run into the rim, catches low on the

(07:23):
left and he'll turn. He'll score Tonjay with five and
it's ey nothing Wisconsin. Two and a half minutes into
the game, Andrew Morgan left of the circle, hands off
the Williams being crowded by Blackwell. Williams left of the lane,
starting to back mid post, left turn, shoots from thirteen
feet away and that gets the brashlaw on the ball,
and that's what they want to get to.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
And Bryce Woods had a quiet first half against USC,
coming out a lot more aggressive in this game.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Eight to two, Wisconsin. Not quite three minutes in Plesbeth
throwing a Winter left of the circle, feats Tonjay opened
three left side nothing but net Tonjay with a couple
of three point hits, and it's eleven to two Wisconsin.
Three minutes gone by Andrew Morgan at the top of
the circle for the Huskers. Org of the right hand
hip eye dribble. He's a for Bukee Tunengel at the

(08:10):
top of the circle, Winter defending him. A pass for
Juwan Gary. He's with Tanjay in the lane. Kick out
Hoiberg open three right corner after him and out no
good rebound Winter for Wisconsin. Right here comes Blackwell on
the move for the Badger's right side to the front court.
I brought to the line, down the lane to the rim.
The laymup is good for John Blackwell and Fred Hoiberg

(08:31):
eats an early time out as the Badgers have come
out swinging thirteen to two Wisconsin. We're not quite three
and a half minutes into the game, so it's a
pretty good start. It is in a real tester now
for Nebraska, having lost five in a row mention, They've
been very, very competitive in four of those games, but
you get down like this early. This is a real

(08:53):
test to see how Nebraska responds well.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Especially come off for the heartbreak of that USC game,
and the reason I go back to it so much
is dirt. You can tell that that was going to
be a really important game in conference. They lose that,
How do you respond, I was expecting Nebraska to come
out here be desperate.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
We haven't seen that.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
It's a bad start for Nebraska. Now how do they respond?
You mentioned it? And if your Wisconsin, you just keep
making sure that everything on the defensive end is tough.
Why because then it takes them out of wanting to
play defense.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
It really has. They've scored two points, they don't want
to play.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
It's tough as a player when you're not scoring it
on that end, do then have the energy to guard
at an elite level?

Speaker 3 (09:35):
It's tough to do harder.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Gilmour in for Stephen kraw As play resumes. Bryce Williams
left side of the fore court, a pass for Hoiberg,
sending Buke june Gel. Right now it's Hoyburg again top
of the circle, kicks at the Gary open three left
wing short long rebound. Gilmore tackle it, but Morgan is
there knocked out of bounds by Blackwell. And to belong
to Nebraska.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
And right now, if you're Wisconsin, you can live with
Gary shooting at three only shooting it at twenty seven
and a half percent, Like that's the shots you want
to give up?

Speaker 3 (10:06):
You're fine.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Bryce Williams would be their top three point thread on
the floor right down, then obviously a siege in off
the bench. Williams gets it inside of Morgan and it's
knocked away, taken away Tonjay has a turnover Nebraska four
minutes in thirteen to two Wisconsin was but outside left
buton jail defending a throwing at Gilmour. He's doubled out.
The max rotates to Winter, Feed's Blackwell for three, got

(10:30):
it John Blackwell his second three pointer. It's sixteen to
two Wisconsin. There's the Badger's four of five from distance.
It's the first of hit the next four. Williams at
the top dribbles right of the lane against John Blackwell.
Williams trying to back rips it back out though Hoyburg
turns to Gary. The's a Buketon jail. Three in the air,

(10:50):
left corner back rim, no good rebound windsor and now
here it comes Blackwell up the middle of the front
court for Wisconsin. Blackwell high on the rights, throwing to
Tanjay between the circles. Feeds. Winter Twick pass klesban outside
left as left of the lane against Hoybert, kills the dribble,
throws it out to Tonjay fifteen to shoot. Plenty of time.
Tonjay will send it over to black Wealth baseline right

(11:12):
probing retreats out the Nolan open three right of the circle.
Good again, they're not even hitting the rim. That's right,
I mean it is nothing but that nineteen to two
Wisconsin eleven oer run five oh five gone by Andrew Morgan.
Hands off the Hoiberg. You'll feed Buthtune Jail left of

(11:33):
the lane clubs but on the double. Reaching in is
called for the foul and that'll get us to our
first media time out. Well, the rather solid start I
would say for the Wisconsin Badgers here this afternoon with
that today's game sponsor, Gordon Flesh Company. When it comes
to keeping your business running smoothly, trust the Gordon Flesh Company,
your local experts in office technology, and the unexpected happens

(11:57):
every day when it does. Head to Coles and cooals
dot Com forever in your family needs Coles Where families
come first. Fourteen forty seven left to the first half,
Wisconsin nineteen Nebraska two. This is Badger basketball from lear Field.
Teen forty seven left to the first half, nineteen to two.
Wisconsin leads Nebraska Rollie Wooster in the lineup inbowning baseline

(12:19):
left of Bryce Williams jumper away back room, no good
reboun Kamari McGee darts it ahead to Max Klesman, kind
of resieging in the lineup. Now he's defending Klesman. I
throw at Gillmore, rotates right side for Tanjay and a
crowd light of the lanes starts to draw the double
retreats skips it to McGee left of the key against
the siege, and now you're gonna throw it to Tanjay
at the top Tonjay high on the right, long three

(12:42):
on the way. Nope. With the rebound of Buke Tune Jael,
I was about a twenty. I was gonna say that's
probably twenty fives it the way they've.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Been shooting, you might get a little bit of a pass.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
There's a siege of baseline left and the runner is short.
The rebound of Tanja outlet to McGee. About six minutes
in nineteen to two was hansin McGee left winging for
the Badgers. He's against Buke Kojela bounce into Krow left
of the paint. Stephen Crowe whips across court to Klesbant.
Jawan Gary is out on Max as Klesbant on the
right sideline in front of the Nebraska bench ten of

(13:14):
the Chakla Bax baseline right knocked away ball is loose
buked in general the floor trying to gather it and
he does. Klesman trying to tie him up and he does,
and the arrow is two. Wishunson YEP.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
That's kind of the way the game's gone so far
for Nebraska. Even a chance for you showed great hustle.
It results in a jump ball and that goes back
to Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Jack Janicki into the lineup, Exavier Amos, John Blackwell back
in there for Wisconsin. Thirteen forty four left in the half.
It's nineteen to two Wisconsin, leaving Nebraska in bounced past
to McGee. Camar gets high screen from Amos. He with
a throat at Janicki outside left. He'll toss to Amos
between the circles, rose ap to McGee on the right side,

(14:00):
sends at the crowd top of the circles. Shot clock
is down to five. Blackwell against the siege and spin
move rented out to Kamari for three right wing off
the iron no good rebound backtap by Crow and gathering
at his wooster four Nebraska sends it to a siege
and catching, releasing for three and it's good. Connor Is
Siegion forty one and a half percent. As we mentioned

(14:21):
from distance. It's his first points today. In a big
old smile on his face.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yeah, it's in transition, right, that's what you can't let
him get going.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
There's Janicki off the left wing and in the lane,
and the jumper is good for Jack Shanicki twenty one
to five Wisconsin, seven minutes into the game. Mister outside left,
he'll throw the Puchkin jail at the top of the circles.
Turn Jael he's off to Williams so Ho, it's it
back to Buket and jail. He'll try a three left

(14:48):
to the circle. Good. He's thirty two and a half
percent from distance coming into the game. Twenty one to
eighth Wisconsin, twelve thirty eight left in the first half,
Janicki left wing goes in to kraw left of the lane,
back out the Jeneck feeds. Jamis turns to Blackwell off
the right wing. Blackwell at the elbow now retreats above
the three point line. Wally Rooster defending Blackwell Rocks the

(15:09):
gribble inside the arc long two is short rebound Buketu
and Jael.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
That's the the best shot at time.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
There by job misterwan Gary throwing it to Wooster. Transfer
from Utah for a year at Utah State. The last
three at Utah uke du Jel right of the lane,
whist Sola and stepping in there was McGhee and Kamario
will be called the black. That will be his first
foul and the team second.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
And that's usually what happens when you take a bad
shot and now all of a sudden you're scrambling, you're
trying to find each other, you're out of position. When
Wisconsin has been set on the defensive end, they've been elked.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Yes, really they've been elked. I don't use that word
a whole lot o the.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Sticky only it's just one word you can use lead.
I like Elead better. Twelve oh eight left to the
half twenty one eight Wisconsin Rooster baseline right and bounced
to a siegent open shooting baseline right. No good rebound
it Xavier Amos going up there in traffic. Here's McGee
long feet of Winter low and the ride goes up,
got fouled and we've got to hack a couple of times,
once by Rooster than Butte two Gel got in there,

(16:10):
dol and Winter will be shooting free throws at Badger bench.
Wants a little review there, and then we'll have a
media time out. Foul on Wooster will be his first.

solusive content, Badger Fans, sweepstakes and more. Twelve minutes left
in the first half, twenty one to eight, Wisconsin leading
Nebraska here at the Cole Center. The Badgers eight of

(17:13):
twelve from the floor five of eight from the three
point line. Excuse us for a moment. They had some
children introduced during the media timeouts, some boys and girls

(17:35):
who have been fighting cancer. Here again, this is the
Suits of Sneakers Day. The next three games, the Badger
coaches will be in suits and sneakers. Sneakers and coaches
are wearing designed by some of the cancer patients here
in Madison. And that one got.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Us to say the least.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Jack Junicki at the top of the circle fifteena shoot Winster.
It feeds Blackwell high on the left. Now it's Amoss
out the Blackwell against Wooster left of the lane, driving beats,
Amos bobbled it and a turnover as Wooster gathers. I
think Xavier was thinking dunk right there. And here's Raleigh

(18:21):
Wooster to the front court eleven thirty four left in
the half, twenty one to eight. Wisconsin. We're going to
hands off to Gary to the line and the lane
shot blocked my winter loose ball Blackwell, Gary on the floor.
They get to tie up in the arrow. Now to Nebraska.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Well, that's right, Nolan uses his length there and again,
like Wisconsin is not known having shot blockers, but being
rim protectors is huge. Yeah, and you know, and it
could be different, you can both those things could be there,
but no one was just nice and big and he's
able to go and get that block without folly.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
It is huge as well.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
By the shot clock though, jostling going on right now.
Save you're Amos, and we've seen this with this team
that we like that fight. I really think it's so important.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
It bounced past the Hoiberg baseline right shovels to carry
low on the left field, floated up to the end
and his first two points twenty one to ten Wisconsin
eleven fifteen left in the first half. Good Mary McGee
going to Xavier Amos whips the blackwell outside left top
of the circle, gets at the winter a toss for
McGee on the right side feeds. Amos took a look

(19:35):
at the three, puts it on the deck and the
lane goes up in traffic. Back rim. No good. You
want Gary the rebound. I'll let the wooster up the
right side to the front court, rooster left hand ribble
to the free throw line, spins it out to a
siege and catching shooting for three bangs off the rim.
No good rebound Nolan Winter, k Connor has that very
quick release. There's Blackwell spinning in the lane up in

(19:58):
some traffic, missed it rebound is running it down Blackwell
and knocked out a bounds. It's last touch by Blackwell
to belong to Nebraska right now.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Offensively, Wisconsin is not playing the way they need to play.
They need to weather this. They need to, first of all,
understand the ball needs to move a little bit more.
Right now, there's been a lot of isolation, whether it's
been Xavier or John Blackwell moved that ball. When they've
moved it, they've got wide open shots. But when they've
gone isolation, they haven't. And that's given confidence to the
offensive end to Nebraska.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Don Jay Gilmore out there, klesmand Winter and Blackwell the
siege in with a ball for Nebraska. He'll bounce it
to Morgan, backing left of the lane on Nolan Winter
backing mid post left, still backing, turns, goes up and
in from inside the right block and work from Andrew Morgan.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Because Nebraska has been able to get some stops offensively,
they're feeling a little bit better about themselves.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Twenty one to twelve Wisconsin. Here's Klesman baseline right, brings
it back out to the wing. We're halfway through the
first half of play here at the Cole center. That's
right side. He's open shooting back rim. No good on
Juwan Gary is Matt's missing in a three point try.
There's a wooster off the Morgan screen to feed the Gary.
He's open, he'll try the three. He'll hit it this time,

(21:09):
Juwan Gary, And now the Huskers are back in at
twenty one fifteen Wisconsin, nine forty two left in the half.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Nebraskat a ten oh run.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Here's Winter finds Gilmore all alone, miss the dunk inside.
Gary lay close and here comes Gary up the floor.
Says to a Siegeon he'll try the three, and it's
off the left side. Eye are no good? Badger's dots
you one there. Here's plesband a head to Blackwell ack
Well outside rights as he'll set the floor. Feeds Gilmore

(21:37):
throwing the klesban against a Siegeon backing out the quarter
right hand tossed or Winter, he'll hand it to Tanjay.
Tanj opens steps back long three and that just flipped
the rim. No good and it goes out of bounds
for it belong to Nebraska twenty one fifteen Wisconsin neither
lay left in the hat.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Nebraskat a thirteen to two square on.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Wisconsin hasn't scored in almost four minute and it's why
the ball is not movie. It's becoming too much isolation.
We haven't said that a lot of with this Wisconsin team,
but offensively, that's why they haven't scored in almost four minutes.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Rollie Wooster sixty five senior brings the ball up the floor,
throwst of a siege in whistle and an illegal screen. Here.
We're gonna get Juwan Gary off ball foul. That'll be
his first and just the second on Nebraska. Both teams
with just the two fouls. Berka Buktunjel coming back in
for the Husker. He's replacing Juwan Garrett eight fifty nine

(22:31):
left in the half. Twenty one to fifteen Wisconsin leeds Nebraska.
Blackwell throwing a quarter Gilmore outside left, bounces it to
Klesbit between the circles. After Gilmore feats tan Jay left
corner three that got partially blocked.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
They got hit the day. Let it tell.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Here comes a siege and got by Klesband in the
lane runs it back out the Buketon jail off the
right wing and the paid up left ten missed it
rebound Klesban and now here's Max to the front court
ax Lisa for Gilmore at the top. Will More against
Bukee Kunjel, who's trying to get into him a little bit.
Now Gilmore sends to Kleasband on the right side. Frasco

(23:10):
has tried to turn things up a little bit defensively.
Blackwell stepped on the left sideline of the catch and
he was looking to catch and go. And the badger's
guilty of turnover number three.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
And why are they turning it up defensively because the
ball hadn't stopped. Now they've built their confidence. Now they're
getting into Wisconsin a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Age seventeen left in the half, twenty one point fifteen.
Wisconsin ol Screws has scored the last ten points. Morgan
hands off the wooster outside left against Tanja around a
Morgan screen. Rooster eats the gribble alive right corner, picked
up by krow a bounce to Morgan, quick spin Low
on the left goes up, got found by Gilmore and

(23:51):
Andrew Morgan. We'll go to the free throw line as
we have the under eight media time out. Fs envisioncy

(24:32):
Seven fifty eight left in the first half. The Huskers
right back in this thing. Twenty one to fifteen Wisconsin.
Andrew Morgan is sixty two percent free throw shooter at
the line for two and he is too long with
the first throw, which is eight points a game. Every
good player at North Dakota State spor eight hundred and

(24:53):
sixty points with the Bison as he hits the second
free throw and a split for Morgan's twenty one six Wisconsin.
Here's John Blackwell up the floor for the Badgers. It's
Plesmand high on the right slash. Well's going a tan
jay left wing in the crowd going the double, skips
it and sales one nice grab. Plesban to go up
and get it, and then Max threw it away. Trying

(25:15):
to feed Nolan Winter is picked off by Rooster. He's
buketon Gel outside right. Son Over's even now at four.
Bryce Williams with a basketball gets a little bumped from
buttetune Gel picked up by Blackwell defensively. Sam Hoiberg with
a toss to Butte dune Jel up between the circles.
Man's off to Williams who lost his balance and the
ball it slides out of bounds. Turn over Nebraska. It'll

(25:37):
go back to Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Well, It'scott's done a really good job on Bryce Williams
averages eighteen and a half, only two points so far
in this game.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
They've made him very uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Under his SIGI back on the bench, Under has hit
at three. He is one of five here at one
of three from distance with the ball's Kraal out between
the arts. It's been a while since the Badgers have
scratched quite The dry spell in progress. Winter left of
the circle gets at the Blackwell shot clock is at twelve.
Blackwell at the left point beats kraw crowl with a

(26:12):
hand off the Klesbic seven is shoe Klesbant bounces the
crow five to shoe crowd rd of the lane out
the winter for three up top good and the drought
finally is over. The scoring run ends at eleven four Nebraska,
twenty four to sixteen Wisconsin, six forty three left till halftime.
Booster outside right feeds Andrew Morgan at the top of

(26:33):
the arc. We're going to hand off to Williams scrolling
around the screen now. Wooster drives off the right wing
in the lane against Tanja upright hand and in off
the window.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
That was an example of just the defense of getting
a little too wide.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Twenty four to eighteen Wisconsin. Here's Tanja baseline left, jumps
top of the paint, wild shot air ball caught by Blackwell,
low and left. He goes up, tied up, gets it back,
throws it up, missed it down. Hoiberg comes up with
it for Nebraska six point lead Wisconsin six oh five
left in the half. Sam Hoiberg off the Morgan screen

(27:08):
bounces Buke dune jail. If a look at the three
and now I hand off the wooster. It's disrupted and
he is able to gather right before the mid stright.
Now it's Andrew Morgan at the top. Moregan right side,
leaves it for Hoiberg snaps off at three. Good for
the right side. Sam Hoiberg bas it twenty four to
twenty one Wisconsin with five point forty three left in

(27:29):
the half. He's sixteen to three run Here for the Huskers.
The Badgers opened up leading nineteen to two. Here's Klesman
with the feet of Stephen Krowd wins a back cutting
time j Loewend. The ray goes a blocked out of
bounds by Williams and Nebraska will keep it.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Can you tell we're in Big ten play?

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Yes we can.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
The physicality I mean against UCLA now against the Bradley,
they are letting them be physical on both sides. This
isn't just the one sided physicality, but the physicality of
this game and the last couple of Big ten play
has really.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Elevated yeah, nice husband limping as he heads over to
the bench. Jack to Nicky is in. Carter Gilmore will
sub in for nol and winter Well up on the
shot block. Blackwell baseline right looking at inbound looking and
throws to Kraal right wing. Blackwell will come and get it,

(28:24):
drives off the wing in the lane lost those balance
lost the ball turnover. Williams has it is buke to
gel feeding Williams a buff. They play on Gary Lowe
on the left up miss Badley Crow the rebound outlet.
The Tanja up the right side of the front court,
moves to the middle right lane line now throws up
a wild shot. No wild shot because he knew he
was drawing the contact and John Tanjay will go to

(28:45):
the free throw line for two shots. Twenty four to
twenty one Wisconsin with five O eight left for the
first half.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
And as the fisicality that I've talked about both sides
the first place could have been they result in a
turnover for Wisconsin, a bad shot for Nebraska. Thankfully, Wisconsin's
able to get that ball. In transition, John tanj is
able to get the free throw line. But that's where
they have to play under control. You can't just feel
contact and throw that ball up.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Ton James, this is the first free throw. He is
a ninety three percent free throw shooter, averaging six point
seven attempts per game. Aaron Eulis checks in, as does
Connor as siege in Wooster and Morgan will sit down.
That was the first free throw attempts of the game,
by the way, for Wisconsin, Ton jabers short with its

(29:31):
second attempt coming up, and that rattles through twenty five
twenty one Wisconsin on Aaron Eulis, the former Iowa Hawkeye
word with uktune Gel between the circles. Now it's a
siege in dribbling right wing and his hand off to
Williams disrupted by Janicki Jack on the run down the
lane to the red how he sends it down, Oh, Janicki.

(29:55):
The steal and the dunk and his twenty seven twenty
one wisconsert.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
And maybe even the foul.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
What a finish that was grown man's work. A siege
in being hounded by Janicky between the circles now the
way going the legal screen on the handoff Bryce Williams.
That'll be his first A team found number four twenty
seven to twenty one Wisconsin four thirty six left in

(30:25):
the first half. Here's a Kamari McGee throwing to Carter
Gilmore at the center circle. Gilmore fIF thing left, leads
a for Tanjay Atossa. Kraw sends to McGee, Caamari up top.
He'll snap off of three and it's short, no good.
The rebounded Connor resign for Nebraska. Comes Bryce Williams to

(30:46):
the free throw line, brings it back out the beauty
and Jael hands off the Williams shadowed by Janicky now
Kraal on the switch Williams above the three point line.
He'll go ahead and take the three and it hits
the left side iron no good. Readoun Gee out let
the Janicki on the right side. Janiki feeds Gilmore, now
Tanjay left side on the wing. Tanjay hooks to Gilmore,

(31:08):
leads to McGee left corner. The siege of defense out
to the wing is Kamari. Now Gilmore has it, turns
the right side for Janicki out to Gilmore, feeds kraw
up top, whipster McGee for three left corner.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
Book it.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
It's just great basketball. Oh that ball is popping on
that possession. That's one that he as a coach to say,
clip it. We're gonna steal the positive.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Tomorrow, thirty to twenty one, Wisconsin, three twenty seven left
to the first half. Ulis with the past debuke dune
jail at the top of the circle, hand off to
Williams around his screen feeds. Ulis for three right side
off the iron rebound to Stephen Krow with three thirteen
left of the half. Thirty to twenty one Wisconsin, Conja

(31:51):
outside left, dribbles to the free throw line, right lane
line of the laying up and trap back and it
goes in for tanjay Man. A timeout hey can buy
Fred Hoiberg as the Badger is now on a run
of their own. The lead is eleven. This will be
a full time out. Badger Extra is the best website

about ten minutes remaining in Bloomington, Maryland leads Indiana sixty
to fifty three, three oh three left in the first
half year. Wisconsin on an eight point run, now leads

(32:59):
Nebraska thirty two to twenty one.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
And I asked you during the break, it's been a
game of runs. Wisconsin's been on the nineteen two run
to start the game. Nebraska was on an eleven zero run.
Now Wisconsin's on an eight oh run. That's what it's been.
And it's been a fun game, back and forth with
a lot of responses. I think a lot of the
reasons we've had some eighty runs is because on the
offensive end for both teams, they haven't run good offense

(33:23):
for long durations, which has led to the runs for
the other teams. But that's why we're sitting here twenty
one thirty two.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
Fred Hoiberg has burned two time outs of this first half.
Here's Raleigh Wooster against John Tonjay left for the circle.
If you for Hoiberg turns to few Jael reverse layup
is good going right to left. Good work from Bear
kruskinston Jail.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
We've had some really good finishes in this big week.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Have thirty two to twenty three Wisconsin two forty three
left in the half. Famari mc eagles set the floor
for Wisconsin for the up top leflipt to kraw left
with a circle. Stevie one drippled now bounces to Tonjay
an Joy against Wooster on the left wing, Boots kraw
rawls the double kills the dribble. Awis McGhee left corner,

(34:08):
Sabari with Ford to shoot, Gotta go to work. Here's
Tan j d three left of the circle. It's off
the rim. Milgad rebound Stephen kraw up. They're trying to
get around Buke tune Jel and he'll draw the foul
thig Stevie with a little offensive rebounding word.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Steve with a quiet afternoon.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
So far, only three rebounds, no shout attempts, no points.
That being said, it's not because he's not being aggressive.
Anytime he gets the ball in the pulse. The double
team is coming from Nebraska. It's a different double team.
It's coming from the baseline. He can't really be aggressive
and go make a move. He's got to pass out
of it.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
If Aul was on Connor's siegion and Stephen Krow missed
the first free throw he had made twenty four straight.
That's his first miss at the fad line since November
thirty second free throw for Kraw is good.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
And that's why I was talking so long, to make
sure that you didn't jink some right. That's I just
was trying to take care of you on that one, Matt, right,
I don't want to give you the jinx opportunity exactly.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
He took care of it by missing it all on
his own.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Every doesn't even be mentioned it.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Thirty three, twenty three, Wisconsin, Acija with the throat of
Raleigh Wooster rooster against Stephen Krowe. Now a feed for
Juwan Gary driving right of the lane, goes up off
the glass and rim nogo and rebound. Krow would a
minute fifty left of the half, Badgers up ten and
with the ball hef eats Kraw at the top the
way to Tanja high on the left. A pass for

(35:34):
Gilmore rotates Janicki, and he has provided a spark in
his first half as Jack Janicki. Dallas quarter Gilmore left
hand flip for Tanja shot lock at ten Tanjay right
of the lane. I cut off by Wooster and buston
Jael Gilmour wrapped at the McGee. Good look at a
three left side, Yes, sir, he came in fifty five
percent from long range at Kamari with two threes. Here

(35:57):
were the first half this afternoon, maybe six twenty three Wisconsin.
One fifteen left in the half. Here's a siege in
and he got clipped by Stephen Kraut. That'll be the
first on Stevie and number four on Wisconsin. Crow will
sit down, Molden Winter is in, Andrew Morgan will come
into replace Barri cup Uton. Jeff subs Blackwell will enter

(36:20):
for Jenny. One fourteen left in the half, thirty six
twenty three, Wisconsin. The Euster sideline left the bounds to
his Siegon build it up by Blackwell, hands to Morgan,
back to Connor, right ballot extended in a Siegeon throws
one away, trying to whistle one back to Morgan and
that goes out of bounds turnover Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
Good response by Wisconsin. Nebraska had their run.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Now Wisconsin's on a twelve two run and the ball's
move and it's finally the right player.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
Whs Carter Bill Morgan. He's a pertanja on the right
side baseline right turns it back out that Gilmore to
pass from McGee wraps with the black well four three.
All that buds off the rim. No good, Riley Wooster
the rebound the middle of the front court is Wooster
now driving left lane line to the cup, lay up,
no rebound. Gilmore quick out and let to McGee. Imari
with a burst at the top of the circle. Fans

(37:16):
out right side for each Tanjay open three right pocket.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Yes, had one shoan Tanja with a.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
Four point opportunity and the lead. There's sixteen for the Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
This team is so good offensively. I didn't think they
were gonna continue to play that bad during the stretch. Obviously,
now we're seeing them move the ball. When you move
the ball, he creates close outs and now has wide
open shots.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
And then John.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Tanjay buries the three and one opportunity as well. It's
amazing when the ball moves for this team. Right in
any team in the game, good things happen, but especially
this one because they're loaded with three point shooters.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Drew Morgan, the foul Tanjay connects on the free throw
and it's a four point play. Fourteen bucks for the Badgers.
Nine assists to your point, mister Butch. Forty to twenty
three Wisconsin. Badgers have matched their longest lead of today
down to thirty six seconds left in the half. Williams
right lad line tries to throw one up and Nolan
Winners says, get it out of here. He rejects it

(38:17):
out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Bryce Williams just trying to find and we've said there
a lot the Scotts has been really good at stopping
the opponent's.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Best player during this stretch.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Here in big ten play, Williams baseline right near the
corner will end down thirty three and a half seconds
left and half inbounds past the siege and flips of
three good from the right corner, very quick release. Forty
to twenty six Wisconsin. Twenty five seconds left in the
half shot clock is dark blackwell standing dribble at the
mid court logo. There's left of the center circu out

(38:49):
of fifteen seconds left in the half with a one
four flat look right now Blackwell pounding left hand out
of ten seconds high screen, tanjay picking pop, tanjay catching,
shooting for three, back room noga long rebound, Bryce Williams
with four with three Williams driving to the rim and
the layup is good and the first half will come
to an end. So a little CounterPunch from Nebraska getting

(39:11):
the final five points of.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
The first half and maybe went a little early with
depths guarded guard screen to finish that. Because you go
so early, it gives a chance for that long rebound
and transition up tree. Now what Scots just needs to
get back in transition two? You need to have that
outlet back.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
We've had halftime. At the Cole Center, Badger fans, I'm
looking for the perfect in game meal. Cheers A brup
pup pizza loaded with quality meat and veggie toppings, then
bombarded with over half a pound of award winning was
consin mozzarella cheese.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Group up.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Lots of lots of pizzas are a proud partner of
Badger Athletics and are available in your grocer's freezer at
the half Wisconsint forty, Nebraska twenty eight. We're back with
a half time report presented by Culver's This is Badger
Basketball from lear Field. A couple times with the first half,
the Badger's led by as many as seventeen points, wondering
whether Nebraska would get blown out of the gym. Well,

(39:58):
they answered one of those runs and they got the
last five points of the first half. It's forty to
twenty eight Wisconsin, leaving the Huskers. We start the second
half here at the Kroll Center in Madison, and.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
I think it's one of those things that early on
you look at exactly what Bryce Williams has done.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Two points. It reminds me a lot of the Ohio
State game.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Bruce Thorton, only two points he's come out to get
and Bruce Thornton gave you nineteen points in the second.
So you've got to make sure you know where Bryce
Williams is. Don't let him get going in this second half.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Andrews will have the first possession. We'll be moving to
our rights, Plesbents, Blackwell, Tanja Crow and Winter. It's Williams,
Morgan along with Juwan, Gary Berika bugtn Jel and Sam Hoiberg.
So the original starting fives both sides. That's how they'll

(40:49):
start here in the second half. Up next for Wisconsin
a Wednesday night date with Maryland in College Park, six
o'clock tip, and then Saturday afternoon Badgers are at Northwestern.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
I was gonna say they're in a tight one right now.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
They are Indiana leading the turf seventy five seventy two.
They guy seventy five seventy four in the final minute.
Your phones ahead of min It's good. Hey, you know,
I mean I got that high speed. You know, yeah,
I got you probably.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
I don't think I'm on the Cole Center Wi FI
at the honest I think that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
That might help too.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
Here's John Blackwell. Second second half is underway. We spared
no one here, we don't. Here's Max Klesman at the
free throw live. He will retreat out between the circles.
Now winter there is it out the Blackwell at toss
for crowd. He feeds Blackwell high on the left. You
know we're checking Blackwell now Toanja right side baseline, driving

(41:40):
low on the left out the Max six to shoot
klesmid left of the lane banks it. Yes, first points
today for Max Klesmand forty two, twenty eight Wisconsin, good drive,
opening minute of the second half, Huskers moving two hour left.
Rice Williams throwing the bukee tune jail rut of the circle.
He's a for Holyburg's lashes off the right wing, jump

(42:01):
past Peek to jail right side. Three on the way
is off the rim. Rebound tip from Blackwell to Kraw
looked a head to Tanjay busting up the floor. John
got fouled by Morgan as the Badgers again getn't get
up there in a hurry and transition.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Well, it's that first initial wave of offense that they
can get probe, see if there's anything there, try to
get up a cheap bound.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
It's exactly what he did.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
It's the second on Andrew Morgan, first of the half
on the Huskers. Fifty seconds gone by second half, fourteen
point lead Wisconsin. Blackwell baseline right, counts past Kraw while
draws the double and then throws one away. This will
be retrieved by Klesband, but it will be a backcoord
violation and the Huskers get it off the turnover. That's

(42:45):
one of thanks Stevie. Just he's tapping his chest here.
That one's on me. He's a very We've talked about
a lot in his career, very good passer.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
And again a lot of it's that double team. Every
time he touched it, they're gonna bring it.

Speaker 1 (42:56):
It's just what Nebraska does when bounced past. Hoyberg feeds Williams.
He'll try a three right side off the rim. No
good the rebound at Gary offensive rebound second chance Huskers.
Hoiberg slashing left to right now tosses the Buketon gel
backing on Blackwell right of the lane. A throw out
the Hoiberg high in the right Tanjay defense a feed
for Bryce Williams of the right wing. They'll send it inside.

(43:17):
Bukedon jail catches, turns right block flipped it, missed it rebound.
Kraw tips klesban will gather bit and a half gone
second half forty two, twenty eight Wisconsin. Weisber the passer.
Steven crowd between the circles, refeeds Batch, rotates right corner
for Blackwell. Chehn dribbles after the wing out of the
right point. A toss for Krow rotates Tanjay Toanjay baseline

(43:38):
left and stops pops missed rebound. Nebraska and Andrew Morgan
now led to Williams racing up the right side of
the front court to throw a Gary refeeds. Williams tosses
the Morgan top of the circle, bounces to a curling
Sam Hoiberg in the lane. Winner cut them off. Now
it's Morgan again left point bounce past Buketon jail left
in the lane, posting on klesband size it vantaged buttune.

(44:00):
Jail turns left the lane, feeds Morgan low on the right.
Shot blocked by Crow and it's tapped out the blackwell.
Here's blackwell ahead the klusman of three on the way
is a brick wide left. Morgan the rebound said that
on the ice yesterday, who his little chili in? Here
a breeze. Here's Morgan backing on Krow in the lane. Steve,

(44:23):
you be holding his ground and he send it back
well worked over. Williams driving to the cup of the lamp.
Around it out, No tipped up, No, Morgan has it
low on the left up, got it? It counts in
a foul. Andrew Morgan stayed with that. He's rewarded with
an A one.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
And there just hasn't really been a flow to this game.
You've had big runs, three big runs throughout. You know,
Wisconsin started with the nineteen two, and you had eleven
oz by Nebraska, and then you have Wisconsin closed with
a twelve to two, and.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
How they're kind of going back and forth. It hasn't
been that consistent flow throughout a offense. But that's why
you have to stay dialed.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
In second foul on Stephen Crowe, he comes out. You
got Amos and Gilmore in there. Now Oregon at the
free throw line, the attempt is around the rim and out,
no good Tan Jay. The rebound forty two to thirty.
Wisconsin was seventeen fifteen remaining black Well out high Gilmore,
the scream black little the right wing, he'll throw the
Klesban wraps it. The Amis Xavier kicks at the max open,

(45:20):
three straight on short and the rebound Abuket in jail.
For Nebraska, those were hot from three in the first half,
with a couple of misses here early in the second
from long range Orgon hands off to Bryce Williams puts
it on the deck with the left hand stops here.
The free throw line jumper away is off the rim,
no good rebound Blackwell, John up the middle, fans out

(45:42):
to the left side. He's it for Carter. Gilmore takes
the three. Gilmore brings it back, ends it back out,
throwing to klesban As with a pass for Blackwell right
of the circuit, goes to Amos, turns it through Klesbant
high on the left. Plesband slips it into Amos low
on the left for the first lamp is good going
left to right.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
They finally got that side pick and roll, and then
because Nebraska's weak side was engaged, it was wide open.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
First points for Xavier Amos today forty four to thirty Wisconsin,
sixteen to fifteen remaining. Williams feeds Morgan left in the lane,
single coverage quarter. Gilmore backing his Morgan back into the
left block, turns, pades, clips miss badly. When it comes
down to Gary didn't hit the iron shot. Clock is
down a six. Williams off the Morgan screen three on

(46:28):
the way for Williams is good.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
It's you gotta clean up the possessions.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
You can't keep giving up offensive rebounding had and one opportunity.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Then you just gave up a three forty four to
thirty three Wisconsin, fifteen forty five to play Kleisman left
wings as with the past to Gilmore, will toss the
Blackwell sends to Amos Whipton in'sie Gilmore Low on the
left clipped it up and it cats. He was fouled.
What a past woo that was pretty whistled. One inside

(46:57):
that Gilly flipped it in for the end one. You
have a break in the action at the Cole Center.
Wisconsin Basketball brought to you by UW Health Sports Medicine,
the Healthcare for healthcare team for the Badgers and proud
sponsors of UW Athletics. Fifteen thirty nine remaining Wisconsin forty six,
Nebraska thirty three. This is Badger basketball from their fields.

(47:20):
US Bank is a brown partner of Wisconsin Athletics. Together,
There's nothing as powerful as the power of US US Bank.
Equal Housing Lender Member FDIC Sam Hoiberg was called for
that foul of the Carter Gilmore Buckett. You'll have a
free throw momentarily. Fifteen thirty nine, remaining Wisconsin forty six,
Nebraska thirty three. The officials over at the monitor right now,

(47:44):
I'm sure exactly what they are looking for. But by
the way, the Maryland Terrapins it knocked off Indiana seventy
nine seventy eight of Bloomington Robby Rice with the three
with seven seconds left, and you could not answer.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
A buzzer beater in Bloomington. Sounds good. I mean, I
don't know anything about that.

Speaker 1 (48:04):
But I mean maybe Rodney didn't need to go glass
on his.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
Man shot. We didn't need to bring that up again,
didn't we. I mean, yeah, of course we didn't.

Speaker 1 (48:15):
You want to remember about being in addition to to that,
your your shot, how loud it was in that building,
because that's when stuff was really starting to bubble up.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
That was Helvin sand.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
It was, but the place was kind of it was
it was rocking Assembly Hall and then you go class
and then they had a look.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
They did have a lot of just like in this
last game Maryland they had Uh, Indiana had a look
after Maryland made it as well. But uh yeah, I
mean this is Big ten basketball, like every day you
have to bring it. And I think that's that's Maryland.
They're a really good team. Obviously, that's Wisconsin's next one.
I'm still up by thirteen right now. Wisconsin is now
and the officials are looking at something. But like there

(48:56):
are no nights off, there are no after just this
league is too good.

Speaker 1 (49:01):
Whatever they're looking at, everything is okay. I guess so
that the free throw line will be Carter Gilmot. We
don't go to Bloomington this year, but if you'll go
there next year, we'll have to recreate that.

Speaker 3 (49:13):
I think Selton, there's no question, no question, that.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
Was a miss on our part last year. We didn't
do that. I know Carter Gilmore hits the free throw.
It's a three point play forty seven thirty three Wisconsin,
fifteen thirty five to play. We'll educate Eric Rowley about that, correct.

Speaker 3 (49:29):
Yeah, he needs all the education he can get. Yeah,
I know.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
Here's Juwan Gary three shot right corner off the iron,
Todjay the rebound to be like us, like providing a
history lesson week.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
They very much Selt We do this. Yes, it's there
to help. You'll have to put in black and white.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
When he video takes it, Matt's open three right side
splashing and he looks up to the sky and says,
thank you. Take the lid off that bad boy and
Klesman just got blown up on an illegal screen. Ryce
Williams Rock and Klesmer's World Max with a big old smile.
He's fine with that. And it's a Nebraska turnover fifty

(50:05):
to thirty three Wisconsin with fifteen oh seven remaining.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Man, do you know why Greg Guard has had so
much success Because it's the teaching that still happens and
you don't see it all the time of college sports,
but just the way they handle the dribble handoffs, yes,
and get so many of those calls, like teaching is happening,
happening every day in practice.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
Save your Amos throwing at john Ton Jay out between
the Yarks left hand dribble left of the lane against
Raleigh wooster Tonjay's still pounding left corner. He'll let it
fly and that's off the back of the rim. No good,
Morgan the reb dow and he got popped by Xavier
Amos and that'll be the first on XT. So you're
right though about that point. I mean you will see
them work on that.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
It is.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
I mean I did it. I I mean I tried to.
I should say, do it left better.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
But like it's something that's drilled and drilled and drilled
that when you do get into the game, you get
those calls because you're staying attack step person's setting that screen.

Speaker 1 (51:02):
And there is sieging back in there for the Huskers.
Andrew Morian as the ball. Right now they throw to
Sam Hoiberg outside left. Hoy Berg driving left lane line
Man is past knocked away by McGee and out of bounds.
The quick hands and quick feet from Kamari McGee getting
in there in the passing lane. Shot clock is at six.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
How does his team go from good to great? There's
fourteen to twenty two left. They've only given up thirty
three points. Stay locked in fligs next fourteen to twenty two.
Put together a great defensive performance.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
There's a siege and left of the lane covered up
by Klesbond and name as a thrown to Gary. He'll
try a three left corner, rattles out no good and
a rebound of Gilmore. Here comes Tanjay on the run,
finds McGee back to Tanjay, rumbles off the left wing, goes.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
To the god sends it down with the right.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
Hand and another time out taken by Nebraska. This will
be a full time out as the lead is nineteen
for Whisco Hanson as John Tanjay fly under the bucket
for the punch and we'll take a break fourteen oh
four remaining Wisconsin fifty two Nebraska thirty three. This is

Wisconsin with fourteen oh four left in the game.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
And I talked briefly about it.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
I'm going to bring it up yet again because I
do you know you've held Nebraska thirty three. When you've
been in the half court, you've been eleaked. Defensively, stay
locked in for all fourteen. That's the challenge on nineteen. Offense,
you're rolling, you're sharing the ball, but stay locked in
on that defensive end because that's where you can win
a Big Ten championship is on that end. I know

(53:08):
offensively they're scoring a lot more, but they're gonna have
to get stops, so they need to.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
Up the floor. Is Raleigh Rooster for the Huskers, moving
over I left in the second half. Rooster outside right
gives the dribble to flip to a siege and should
play blackwell inside feed you can tell catches low on
the left of the layup is good. The Raptors just
flying by the fifty two to thirty five Wisconsin thirteen
forty five remaining. He out front for Wisconsin all right

(53:37):
right in the circle, looks to Amos deep three left
of a circle and bound that out no good or
rebound knocked out of bounds. Last touch by Carter Gilbot.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
Carasket probably has one more one more run in them.
Stay locked in.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
John tom Jay is being worked on there briefly as right,
and he appears to be just fine. Brenton Newhart, the
athletic trainer.

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Rumor has it that's what happens when you slammed dunk.
Put you in your dunk like a chance that might happen.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
But explain that to the rest of us who because only.

Speaker 3 (54:07):
I can't explain it either.

Speaker 1 (54:08):
Sote Gel throwing that Juwan Gary left of a lane
up left right hand no good Gilmore of the rebound.

Speaker 3 (54:15):
At least that's what I've heard, that you can hurt
your hand out.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
I don't know how it works. He's caught her Gilbour
throwing to Blackwell, then Nolan Winter jam his hand on
the rim at Rutgers a couple of weeks ago. Can't
relate pleasant baseline left throwing out to Exavier Amos and
he just got to erase by you tube gel Xavier
goes down Barrick of buth Tune jail with the foul.

(54:39):
It'll be his first.

Speaker 3 (54:43):
He did uld a race.

Speaker 1 (54:44):
Though it was clean to start, it was, and it
was the foul through this it was clean until it
wasn't exactly. It bounds past Blackwell to Amos, gets it
back to John against Sam Hoiberg outside right now. Amos
turns to Gilmour, host to McGee on the left side.
He'll pitch it to Amos wraps the right wing for
Max Klusman. I tossed at Gilmore five to shoot the

(55:08):
carter left in the lane, fades flips and it's short.
No good to jail the rebound twelve thirty five to

and it's off the iron. No good rebound. Tip Klesband
gathers four wisconsints twelve twelve to play seventeen point lead
four of the Badgers. John Blackwell outside left throwing the
Gilmour at the top, Fines McGee baseline ride, riise On
Hoiberg in the lane, wrap around layup is good come
Marie McGhee going right to left and he has eight

(55:52):

gold in winter. Jack Janicki will check in next. Wis
Hoiberg throw it a Buketon jail at the top of
the circle and he'll hand it to a siege and
plesbend defending two buddies going at each other. There's Buketon
Jael driving Donal lane to the rim, runs it up
and it somehow stayed out. No good and the rebounds saved.

(56:14):
By Gilmour with a pass to Blackwell. Blackwell left of
the lane kicks the Klesband three shot left corner in
and out, no good wooster the rebound. There comes Raleigh
Wooster for Nebraska ahead to Hoiberg off the left lay
against pass toll it away by McGee. Here comes Camaros
and the numbers not quite there for him. He'll throw
it back out. The Gilmour Badgers will run their offense.

(56:36):
He'll live out the Blackwell open three right wing, nailed

After Buketon Jail tries a three straight away nope rebound
of Wisconsin and Max Klesmer ten thirty five to play
fifty seven to thirty five the Badgers Gilbore throwing to
Camari McGee on the right side. Robes retreats three shot

(57:20):
yep Comarry McGee's third from downtown. Sixty to thirty five Wisconsin.
Here's Wooster up the floor, turns it back out. The
Williams outside right hands off the Hoiberg disrupted by McGee.
Hoiberg gathers now Wooster for three left corner is good.
Wally Wooster with five sixty to thirty eight Wisconsintino five remaining.

(57:45):
Blackwell pull up three good from left of the circle.
I everybody hits.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
Yeah, I don't think you want to leave John Blackwell open.
That's back to back wide open threes for John Blackwell.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
Sixty three thirty eight Wisconsin. Here's Hoyberg try of three
right side and he knocks it down. Hoiberg was six
sixty three forty one. The Badger's nine to forty remaining
Wisconsin is thirteen of twenty eight from the three point line.

(59:04):
Wisconsin here this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
Man.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
And what they've done is such a good job of defense.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
And yes they've given up forty one points, but this
is a team in Nebraska that averages twenty one point
six free throw attempts per game.

Speaker 3 (59:17):
Nebraska has three.

Speaker 2 (59:18):
So not only have they guarded well, they've guarded without following,
which is really tough to do. And when you look
at a Nebraska team that twenty some percent of their
points come from the free throw line, that's a huge
part of this game. And again, especially after the UCLA game,
people say, oh, wiscon to the defense.

Speaker 3 (59:35):
No, like they've been trending in the right direction here
for about a month.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
I would say the UCLA game was more of an
outlier than where they've been trending.

Speaker 1 (59:45):
No, I think it's a fair point, and I don't
have a lot.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
Of fair points a lot, so I mean that's good.
I mean, if you play with.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
Them, that's a smart thing. So I thought I would
point that out. No, they have been you know, they're
never you know, you you've played for a coach was
never satisfied there. But there they've been encouraged with the
direction they've been going in and that it's because you're
gonna have blips now and they're absolutely defensively. On Tuesday
at Paul Pavilion, Marcus Silver in the lineup now for Wisconsin,

(01:00:13):
Jamiki and McGee and Winter out there in John Tanjay
aeron ULI's back in there for the Huskers. As we
play on, Bryce Williams kills the dribble outside left feeds
Butte and Jail rotates Roley Wooster high on the right
and the left him open and now they'll cover him
up and inside feed Buken Jail catches backing right, block,
turns baseline, pivots, leads Wooster eight to shoot. Rooster on

(01:00:35):
the right side, probing the baseline, picked up the dribble,
finds the cutter. That's a siege into the rim and
the layup is good. Good movement from kind of resigion.
He has eight and here's todj quickly the other way,
and you do a double team right of the lane.
Now he'll pull it back of the short jumper right
of the paint. Short rebound button Jail sixty three forty
three Wisconsin eight forty eight to play Rooster up the

(01:00:56):
floor for Nebraska outside left, John to defense and to
Bryce Williams at the top of the circle. He's with
Ilver Williams left of the lane. The runner is off
the right side, iron and out cowl and winter the rebound.
Here it comes John Tonjay up the left sideline for
the matchers. Booster defended. Ton Jay picks up the dribble,

(01:01:18):
throws to Ilver. Marcus turns it to Jennicki outside right,
and they'll get a foul called on Marcus. Ilver Ille
will scream. That'll be the first on Ilver. So Ilver
a little bit in the first half of the UCLA.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Game, and it was at foul. Yes, it was when
you come off that playoff with two feet. Again, we
say we teach there. Wisconsin teaches it a lot on
how to get on the defensive end, Heylso teach the
playoff two feet so you don't get that call in
the offensive end.

Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
Rooster out front against Tonjay beute to jail the screen.
Wooster pull ups left elbow jump is good, olly Ooster
with seven sixty three forty five Wisconsin with eight minutes
remain the beat of the front court high screen. Winter,
he was working over it to throw to Ilver, turns
it left side of the wing for Jack Jenicki Shaniki

(01:02:09):
drifting out front. Took a look at the three, turned
it down, finds Winter, it's it the Tanjay curls off
the right side. Now Ilver for three left of the circle.
That's short and the readout of a siege in for Nebraska.
Here comes Raleigh Rooster left side line of the front court,
hands off to a siege and let's apply for three
left of the circle. That's off the rim. No good rebound.
Bryce Williams second chance for Nebraska. Rooster on the right side,

(01:02:32):
lost the handle, got it back, got tied up by Janicki,
regains control. Rooster finds the siege and he'll try another
three and miss it up the left side of the rim.
Win to the rebound out let the jack Janicki up
the left side line to the front court for Wisconsin
to throw to Ilver High on the rights. Wover. We'll
hand off to McGee a pass for Nolan Winter driving
goes to the rim. Wanted to duck and it's disrupted.

(01:02:53):
Buket and Jel getting in there, and here comes Bryce
Williams or Nebraska in a hurry, and buzz is one

(01:04:00):
the klusman of the right side, quick toss Tanja, let's
it go for three? Yes, Sir John Tanjay. We're twenty
here today and at sixty six forty five Wisconsin six

Feeds Wooster out between the arcs, turns down the screen
from Jael Drives flipped up right hand miss Badley rebound,

(01:04:21):
krawd out led past the klusban and Max on the move.
Feeds Tanja driving baseline right that hung up in the air.
I think he stepped on the baseline. He did out
of bounds. Turnover number eight for Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Bryce Williams, Juwan Gary averaged thirty one between the two
of them, twelve points so far. This yeah, just again
knowing what you need to do, follow this Couver report,
making their two best players uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
That's what they've done.

Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
The siegon outside left, throwing to Wooster, buge and jail
the screen and a reach in foul here on Kraal.
That'll be his third.

Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
And you anticipated defensive performance like this obviously against UCLA.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
You don't guard the way you want to guard. You
talked about showing a film.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
You get the plane ride back, then you get another
day where you're preparing, another day that you're reminded of it.
You just want to play. It's okay, coach, we're better
than what we put out there.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
And so far, so good. Here's Butte and Gel at
the free throw line. I just lost a handle in
a sloppy hand off the CG can't control turnover. Taj
has it. Here's John. Here's the Blackwell on the right side,
and Blackwell dribble to the top against Bryce Williams. I'll
flip the Gilmore the top of the circle. He feeds
Blackwell high on the left. He and Gilmore play catch

(01:05:38):
and Carter gives it up to Tanjay on the right side.
He'll let it go for three good john Tonjay again,
there's fifth three of the game, sixty nine five. Wisconsert
might not want to go under that screen, just just
to suggest, just throw it out there. Five and a
half minutes remaining. Rooster on the left wing against Tanjay.

(01:06:00):
Rooster right Andrew to the free throw line, looking against
Blackwell to the right block back to the basket. Rooster shakes, fades,
flips airball caught by Klesband, and here comes Max four
Wisconsin Badrew's up by twenty four five oh eight. Remaining
Blackwell against a Siegeon. You'll find Gilmore one pumplo in

(01:06:21):
the right layup no in the rebound of but tune Gel.
Here comes Connor Resiegent crossing over left lane line scoops
at the Williams fakes the three. Now takes the three
good from left of the circle. Williams with ten sixty
ninety eight Wisconsin four forty five to play. Blackwell throwing

(01:06:43):
to Gilmour, a pass to Klesband high the rights, plesbond
against a Siegeon. Max feeds Stephen Krawe back to Klesband.
Max steps back and here's the three try good Max
plesband little pull back action snapped off the three seventy
two forty eight wisconcert four minutes and twenty seconds remaining.

(01:07:05):
Here's Williams left of the lane now on the paint
goes up, knocked the way. Oh, Tanjay got ball and
Larry Sarado says somebody as well, that'll be the first
on Tanja.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Yeah, I think that might have been one that more
optics than what it was, but you live with that.

Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
Where the Hoiberg about to send Gavin Griffiths into the
game for the first time the transfer from Rutgers.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
This will be the fourth and fifth free throw attempt.
Yeah for Nebraska, a team that averages twenty one point six.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
A game, and the first attempt for Williams, who alone
averages about six attempts at the line. Xavier Amis coming
in for Carter Gilmour should mention Nebraska and will continue
to be without one of its key pieces. They've known
this throughout the course of the season. Second free throw

(01:07:58):
is miss rink mass covering from a knee surgery over
the spring and summer and with the team but sit
this year out. That is a key piece to this
program Senior from the Netherlands, transfer from Bradley. Here's Klesbit
for three left side that's off the rim, no good
and rebound Tanja in the lame ten footer is good, Tanjay?

(01:08:21):
What the follow? Seventy four to forty nine wisconstant? With
three fifty to play, Here's Andrew Morgan. He'll step into
a three from up top that's off the rim and
out no good rebound Kraw for the Badgers ree forty
remaining loops at the John Blackwell Mike Well le's it
for Kraw. Kraw scoops to Tanjay on the right side.

(01:08:42):
John going to work on griffisk got buy him up
left hand, no but a foul and John Tanjay will
go to the free throw line when play continues first
the under four media timeout three minutes thirty seconds to play.
Wisconstantly seventy four Nebraska forty nine. This is Badger basket
from lear Field. Try to pick today's Old Dominion best

(01:09:04):
of the game. Brought to you by Old Dominion Freightline.
Old Dominion Freightline works hard to be the best of
the game. It was proud to be the official freight
carrier of Wisconsin Athletics.

Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
I think there's a lot of people that fit that ball.

Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
But John Tanjay twenty five points, five of eleven from three.

Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
That was going to be a big part of this game.

Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
With this Nebraska team giving out ten plus threes a
game in their five game losing streak, the three point
line is going to be important.

Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
Wisconsin's done that.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
I was a Kim Morning McGee with eleven points three
three pointers for him as well, so eight total three
pointers between those two.

Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
It's been They've been really good. And obviously you know
John Blackwell's done what John Blackwell's done. He's four of.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Six, so sixteen may threes for Wisconsin. Remember that one
game where Tanjay didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Score, I briefly did and they still won, right Like,
that's the team. The team is, right like, Yeah, ka's
a usc team that beat this Nebraska team.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
So it is.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
They're fun to watch his group.

Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
They share ball, they play the right way, and the
way that they've guarded defensively this afternoon is where they
were trending.

Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Yes, party throw is good for Tanjay, Kale Jacobson, soft
border Ashlyn Nebraska coming in. Riccardo Greppy on the floor
for Wisconsin. He said, race on the right leg, right knees.
Second free throw is good for Tanjay is a. Ricardo
was banged up right around Christmas time and he was

(01:10:28):
on the cusp of getting some run. John comes out.
Tanjay comes out, gets a very nice ovation as well.
He should seventy six forty nine Wisconsin. Morgan against Grepy,
a hand off to Jacobson left of the circle, he'll
feed Gavin Griffiths at the top of the arc against
Janicki right of the key. Turns it out to Jacobson,

(01:10:49):
he'll drive it scooped the right hand. No but a
foul Ricardo, Grepy getting in there, try to fill the gap,
and then you know the thing about going back to
Grepy and Butcher. We knew this for the Butler game.
He was getting more reps in practice, kind of rotating in,
and Greg at that time said, I don't know if
it's today, but soon he's in a position where he

(01:11:11):
might be able to get a little bit of time,
and then, as luck would have it, he gets hurt.
But he's worked himself back in there, getting some minutes here.

Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
Now there's some of that and then there's some of
this during that time frame, who wasn't playing real good?

Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
Uh huh Big State ole number twenty two.

Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
He as a player and as a coach.

Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
One of the ways he kind of can get through
players by the way, you know the guy behind you,
he's playing really good, he might start getting some minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
And they were seeing that in practice and going and
then he got banged up. And here's Marcus Silver with
a ball left in the lane, pushed it up left
hand and it rattled out. No good, Joe, want to
parry the rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
The biggest voice you can have as a coach, his
minutes played and saying, you know what, your minutes might
drink a little bit here if you don't start playing better.

Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Juwan, Gary runs it up left hand. O good, Marcus
Silver the rebound. It was kind of it was that
very game in Indianapolis. We're close enough to Bloomington as
Blackwell for three left side off the heel of the rim,
No good, Gary the rebound. We were reciting a famous
Bob Knight rant, which he was known to have one
or two of those in the day, about the bench

(01:12:18):
and what a great motivator it is. Look it up, kids.
Exactly two eighteen to play. Seventy six to fifty Wisconsin.
Hoiberg left lane line feeds Gavin Griffiths. He'll try a
three right of the circle, short Marcus Silver the rebound.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
They might be having other quotes in Bloomington tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Uh yeah, Mariland a one point win at Indiana today.
Hoosiers had a final possession and it put in mild lee.

Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
It did not go well.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Here's Exavier Amus feeds Jenicky, He'll try a three right side.
He'll hit it, Jack Jenicky for three. Greg garg will
take a time out to sub. He'll get Jack Robinson
in there for Blackwell, Aaron Ulis and Jeffrey Grace coming
in for the Huskers Seventy nine to fifty Wisconsin with
a minute fifty three to play.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Yeah, I'll say this, even after the UCLA game, mat
I did not feel like this team.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Wasn't a bad position.

Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
No, right, you know, like and again, now you come out,
you have a twenty nine point lead in Big Ten
play hold.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Nebraska to fifty points. They've answered it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
They certainly have Isaac guard of the floor for Wisconsin.
Right now, Jacobs and hands off the same Hoiberg left
lane line a throw to Griffiths light of the key
or to whip it inside. It's the flight that it
gets out to Uless. You'll try a three and that's
way short. Exavier Amos the rebound. Here it comes Isaac
Guard with a minute and a half left guard to
the front court. You'll throw to Amos. Turns at the

(01:13:46):
repe right corner. Cardo with a past the guard, Isaac
high and the rights sends it to Amos and the
grepe slim dunk. Riconope failing good about it his first
field goal as it's a badger eighty one to fifty
Wisconsin and Xavier Amos will come out as Chris Hodges

(01:14:10):
is in a thirty one point lead for Wisconsin. Here
comes Sam Heiberg for Nebraska. Hands off to Aaron Eulis.
He'll scoop at the Griffiths high on the left, feeds
Hoiberg at the top. Hoiberg right foul on extended cuts
in the lane to pass to Griffiths off the left wing.

(01:14:31):
About a one minute to play. Jacobson out at Griffiths,
drive it baseline right, kick out Euless. He'll try a
three and he'll hit it from the left side. First
points for Aaron Eulis eighty one fifty three Wisconsin, fifty
seconds remaining. Ricardo GREPI out between the circus. One dribble

(01:14:53):
a pass to Marcus Ilver. Olver feats Chris Hodges high
on the lefts Dodges talk Toppee at the top. Shot
clock is at ten. Repe feats guard guard high on
the right. Seven the shoe guard darts at the Hodges.
He'll let him fly for three and it is sure
Greppy trying to keep it alive, and it goes out

(01:15:13):
of bounds to Wisconsin with six tenths of a second
on the shot clock.

Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
I get shut off. Point, I get shot off. I
can't have eternal.

Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Jack Robinson baseline rifle in boun into Ilver and he'll
catch in score easy money as they do. Beat the
shot clock. Eighty three fifty three baseline right drive around
Greppy is Jeffrey Grace up and in it's an an
one for Grace sixty three junior out of elm Hurst
Steel and all seventeen point six remaining eighty three fifty

(01:15:45):
five Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
Now Gpy is gonna get in the locker room. They're
gonna call him a hack.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Hey, you know I gotta play harm that's all spots points,
two fouls.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Threethrow for grace off the rim, no good, Isaac Gard
the rebound. Now the Badgers can burn off the remaining time.
Eighty three fifty five Wisconsin as Isaac Gard on the
dribble to the front court. He'll dribble this one out
as the Wisconsin Badgers will get win number sixteen overall
as they improved to six and three in Big Ten play.

(01:16:23):
An outstanding performance for the Badgers here this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
It was and the way again.

Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Nineteen to two start, they came out, Nebraska had that
run in Wisconsin answered and they kept answering the entire afternoon.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Final scorer Wisconsin eighty three, Nebraska fifty five. We're back
with the Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show in a couple
of minutes. This is Badger basketball from their field. Terrific
performance for the home team today as the Badgers blow
out in Nebraska eighty three to fifty five. Wisconsin never
tray and Nebraska answered one of the couple of those

(01:17:03):
early runs. Wisconstantly jumped out to a nineteen to two lead.
The Huskers fought back. Badgers got it back to seventeen.
Nebraska got it to within twelve at the half. Second
half though, which you just no contest, is Wisconsin both
ends of the floor really terrific here today.

Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Yeah, I mean my thing, I use the word to
lead as far as how they guarded fifty five points
and they guarded as five like that, and that's what
you need to see wiscons give back to because that's
what they've done.

Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
They've trended that way.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
We've talked about them, and that's where I think this
team when you look at kind of the rest of
the league, they're gonna have to guard.

Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
You took it, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
You look at the next matchup against Maryland, they're gonna
have to guard to be in those like to beat
the top tier teams in this league. But they're trending
there and that's what you want to see. And that's
where you could see the coaching really starting to kind
of set in with these guys and they're starting to
play together and it's just it's it is.

Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
It's it's fun basketball. I can't emphasize that enough.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
It's a heck of a test in store. They'll enjoy
this one for a bit of a Maryland team that
makes a living off of turning you over and doing
some work on the glass. A big win for the
Turps in Bloomington here today put a big win for
the Badgers as well, as they are now six and
three in league play, sixteen and four overall. Wisconsin eighty
three Nebraska fifty five. We'll have more of our Wisconsin

(01:18:25):
Ford Dealers postgame show, including but She's breakdown coming up
in a couple of minutes. This is Badger Basketball from
Learfield Ours concin Ford Dealers. Postgame show continues as the
Badgers take care of business emphatically here today eighty three
fifty five over the Huskers. Time for Butch's breakdown.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
First thing we talked about sub game off was fast
break points. Don't give Nebraska easy baskets.

Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
They didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
They hold held Nebraska to seven total fast breakpoints. It
was crucial in what they needed to do kind of
get off, you know, get them going early.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
It didn't do that. And then next we talk about
points in the paint.

Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
I thought Wisconsin, even though it was only twenty to
twenty six, they found a way to kind of control that,
especially because Nebraska fifty percent of their points come from
two points, so to hold them to twenty theres was
really really good, and I thought limiting their turnovers, I think,
if this Wisconsin team is going to take the step
to become elite contend for a big Den championship, which

(01:19:26):
they're trending that way, they really are limiting their turnovers
only eight of those. And then the last thing is
at three point line, they shot forty five percent from
three just I mean again, when they shoot at that clip,
I don't know how you guard them. And the last thing,
you know, that's the free thom line eight times, which
again they're a team that gets there twenty one point

(01:19:49):
four times. Yeah, and they still by this much, right,
you know what I mean. So to be able to
not do the things that you normally do but still
dominate the game. You did everything you need to do,
You did everything that was on the scout report, and
then you just kept your foot down.

Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
I thought it was really impressive. Wine.

Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
If you're wondering why the game was so fast, that's
a big part of it. A total of sixteen free
throws in this game, eight aside here for Wisconsin, and.

Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
You look at it, I mean, combined, they average get
into line forty three times. Twenty one point six twenty
one point four. If I do that math right is
at forty three times before.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
It is that it's probably close enough. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
I want you to do so, I putting you on there.
I'm putting you on the spot. You gotta do math. Yeah,
that's because I think I did it right.

Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
That very cohon calculator just is phone.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
It died, it died.

Speaker 2 (01:20:40):
But I think twenty one point six and twenty one
point four to carry. I think it's forty three.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
I think, man, it's a genius. I thought so, Yes,
two degrees here at this world class institution. But you're
your point is accurate. And you know, I was glancing
at the other game to the indie in a Maryland game.
There were a lot of free throws in that game too.
So we get to the point where we're letting them
there's boys play a little bit. Huh.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Yes, that is for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
And I brought it up right, I said, the physicality
levels increased, yes, And now how do you play through that?

Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
How do you what this team does really well? And
they did it in their in non conference.

Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
They've done it so far through throughout this you know,
Big ten play so far they haven't seeked and worried
about where the contexts coming through. They've played through the
contact right, and that means by playing off a two
feet when you do have contact, worry about finishing the
shot versus saying, oh I got fouled and missing your layups. Like,

(01:21:43):
that's not what this team has done. They've played through
the contact. They put pressure in different ways knowing that
the contact.

Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Is gonna come.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
It just is the more and longer you play, whether
it's the longer you play in Big Ten Conference, the
longer you play in the tournament, like there's gonna be
more contact.

Speaker 1 (01:22:00):
Sign of a mature team. And that includes a sophomore
with the name of John Blackwell, who is a very
mature guy. He's also pretty big and strong too, and
knows how to play through that contact. Batman contact begger pardon.
Badgers winning today eighty three to fifty five, and we continue.
We'll take a glance at the Nissan out of town scoreboard.
This is Badger basketball from lear Field. Post game coverage continues.

(01:22:24):
Wisconsin defeats Nebraska eighty three to fifty five at checking
then Isson out of town scoreboard. Maryland gets a Rodney
Rice three with seven seconds left. Indiana did not have
the answer, as the Turps got out of Bloomington with
a seventy nine to seventy eight win, tipping off shortly
Northwestern en up playing Illinois down in Champagne. So with

(01:22:47):
today's result, the Badgers remained in fourth in the Big
Ten with the six and three record. You got Michigan
State at eight and o, Perdue eight and two, Michigan
six and two, and then the Badgers at six and three,
the Urps with the win six and four. So that
sets up a big game on Wednesday night in College Park, Ucla,
Illinois and Oregon all at five and four. Before we

(01:23:09):
move on, let's pause ten seconds for station identification ten
for an ID. This is Badger basketball from Deerfield and
the individual scoring here john Tonjay with twenty seven points
for Wisconsin, nine of nineteen from the floor, five of
eleven from the three point line, John Blackwell with fourteen points.
Kamari McGhee with eleven eight for Max Klusban. He also

(01:23:31):
had seven rebounds and three assists today. Jack Janicki with
seven points, really doing some work in the first half
on a steal and a dunk that got the crowd
going nol in winter with six points and seven rebounds.
Let's go down the line here. Carter Gilmore three points
and four boards. Marcus Silver a couple of points for
Cardo Greppi getting his first bucket as a badgery. Had

(01:23:54):
four free throws earlier this season, but got back on
the floor late in the game, got himself a dunk
Exavi you're amos with two points today. Stephen Crowe with
the one point no field goal attempts officially for him,
got his one point at the free throw line, had
seven rebounds and three assists in the game. Bryce Williams
with eleven pacing Nebraska here today. Connor a Siegen ends

(01:24:17):
up with eight points, three of ten from the field,
two of seven from the three point line. Bearka Buchtinjel
with seven for the Huskers, Roleigh Wooster with seven, Sam
Hoiberg with six, Andrew Morgan with five. Aaron Ulis ends
up with three. Jeffrey grace Full of the Huskers gets

(01:24:38):
a couple of points late, Kale Jacobson with one, Juwan
Gary with but five points in this game, Gary averaging
twelve and a half per so. As we mentioned during
the game from the top scorer is really held in
check today by this Wisconsin defense, Badgers winning at eighty
three to fifty five over the Huskers. More to kom
is our Wisconsin Ford Dealers post game show continue. This

(01:25:00):
is Badger of basketball from Layer Field. Badgers hit the road.
A couple of games coming up this week six o'clock
tips Central Time on Wednesday at Maryland and then Saturday
afternoon in Evanston against Northwestern. That game will start at
one o'clock. Badger's defeating Nebraska here today eighty three to
fifty five. As we are joining courtside by head coach

(01:25:23):
Greg Guard, Do I guess I've known long enough Butch
like his predecessor, Yeah, they scored eighty three points. But
when I guess you want to talk about your defense.

Speaker 4 (01:25:29):
Maybe much better today? It wasn't it, guys, It was
much better.

Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
We were talking during the but you brought up the
point though I know Tuesday was what Tuesday was. But
you guys have been on a pretty good path.

Speaker 4 (01:25:40):
At the end of the floor.

Speaker 6 (01:25:41):
Yeah, we have been, and I think that comes with
time and repetition and work and guys taking ownership in it.
And today they took complete ownership in it, and it
really it was the challenge before the game. And you know,
because we're I mean, we're top ten in the country offensively,
and so that makes us really good.

Speaker 4 (01:25:59):
We want to be lea.

Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
We got to get to be in top twenty five. Defensively,
we're not. We're in the fifties somewhere. So that was
the challenge of where we need to get to where
we want this program to be. And you know, we
we had a preseason target of top ten in offense
and we are. We think we were hovering at nine
after yesterday and or on yesterday, and now defensively can
we some of it's how you know, we don't have

(01:26:20):
a legit shot blocker. We don't Brian butch back. They're
protecting the rim and you know sport sports. Yeah, he
wasn't allowed to block shot chest up right right to
take a to I was allowed, it wouldn't happen. But
I thought we thought defensively we made life pretty hard
for the most part. A little flurry there at the

(01:26:40):
end of the first half that we shot, you know,
too quickly at the end of the half to give
him another another possession, But all all in all, a
really good team effort.

Speaker 2 (01:26:51):
Did you think you were elite, because that's actually the
word I used. I used it during the game first half.
I said, right now, this team defensively is playing elite defense,
and that's that's the step thing.

Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
And I thought you were.

Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
I thought you guys guarded as five, you sprayed out
when you needed to, You filed the scout of report.
Guys that were shooters. You got to guys that weren't.
There was a little bit of a space.

Speaker 6 (01:27:11):
John Tanjay in October didn't understand what gap help was.
Today he was plugging gaps. Yeah, it was great and
in the right spot. I mean it's just like I said,
it's credit to him and it's credit to others. I mean,
whether you're in your sixth year, your first six months,
you have to continue to learn and get better. And
and uh, you know he was he was obvious because
he was right in front of me in that first
half with plugging up dribble drive stuff and knowing he could,

(01:27:35):
you know, didn't have to get immediately back to a shooter.
And it changes from game to game or some games
you you can't do that as frequently. And but no,
I thought, really a tremendous defensive effort.

Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
There's a lot of other guys I could point out,
but it seemed like Jack Janiki did some work for you,
especially in the in the first time.

Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:27:54):
Klaus kind of tweaked his ankle there, and I just
you know, Jack got in and you know, he gets going.
You know, I think it just his minutes have been
so inconsistent, and that's part my fault, part just competition
of him to get into rhythm. And it's hard when
you're a freshman and you're inconsistently playing.

Speaker 4 (01:28:11):
But I thought he really locked in. Defensively, He's a
terrific athlete.

Speaker 6 (01:28:15):
He really moves, he's got some toughness to him, and
and it was good to see him, you know, knock
down that three because he's been been working a lot
on it and he's had some good looks and he's
probably a better shoot than what his numbers to indicate.

Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
And uh, it was, like I said, even Big Rep
gave us some good minutes there.

Speaker 2 (01:28:30):
Sure, Steve only gives you one point, but in the
way that Nebraska I mean that that's and I brought
that up. I said, even though it's one point, you
look at seven rebounds. Yeah, because the way Nebraska guards
it with the double team right away, like that was
actually the starting point exactly.

Speaker 6 (01:28:48):
And then we'll play absolutely four on three everywhere else.
And you know, he only has three assists, but if
we if this was hockey hockey, it was just because
he'd have a lot more, absolutely, and so that was
all point.

Speaker 4 (01:28:59):
Throw it to him.

Speaker 6 (01:29:00):
Yeah, I'm coming, double team, and let's make good decisions.
We can't throw the hail Mary's to the other side
of the floor. Let's let's, you know, take the shorter route.
Don't have to throw at sixty yards when you can
throw the ten yard out and make better decisions out
of it. And you know, obviously he really helped facilitate that.

Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
John, you mentioned Max a couple of minutes ago about you.
They tweaked an ankle and he's had some tough luck,
you know, with the with the health stuff in the
last couple of weeks and getting that confidence he makes
a three and then he's looking up into the heavens.
If I'm an opponent, he scares me to death right
now because he could get on these rolls right where
we've seen these heaters before. It just seems like with him,

(01:29:37):
it's a matter of time.

Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
Yeah, and it's it's a matter of you know, it's contagious.
It's confidence.

Speaker 6 (01:29:42):
It's you know, you see one or two going, or
you see a teammate make one or two, and all
of a sudden that like we started the game, you know,
it just it's a barrage. So yeah, I mean his
you know, I think him defensively really set the tone.
He's he's vocal, he's physical, and we know he'll he'll

(01:30:02):
make shots and take the right ones and those type
of things. So yeah, I mean it's and the nice
part about this team is that we're not dependent on
we can we can spread it around and have a
lot of versatility and nobody cares.

Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Now, that's beautiful.

Speaker 6 (01:30:15):
Eighteen assists on thirty eighteen assists, eight turnovers. You know,
you know it was a very unselfish effort.

Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
Last thing I got for you, you got a pair
of shoes on.

Speaker 4 (01:30:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:30:25):
They brought a bunch of kids out during the during.

Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
The game of the media. Twelve minute media, Yeah, twelve
minute media.

Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
You had a great you know that was up on
the Jumbo Talk Jumbo tron and Kirk was talking you
had two guys over here that were in tears trying
to trying to call a game which couldn't get a
lot of words out.

Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
You do have a platform, and what you guys have done.

Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
You guys went to the children's hospital and had them
color and drawing the shoes. As a dad that's going
through some stuff myself, first of all, thank you because
it means more than what people know. And then obviously
recognizing the kids it was awesome. But with your play
form and what you're doing, what did that mean to

(01:31:02):
your players? Because I remember doing the stuff with Baul
right right with you guys, and like we just did
it because we did it right, and then it hits
right personally and you just like.

Speaker 3 (01:31:12):
Yeah, it was a lot, you know. I think.

Speaker 6 (01:31:13):
I think what I've tried to do, Brian, is you
know I've gone you know, I went through it. You
went through with your mom. She was able to battle
it when you were here and beat it. I went
through it with my dad and didn't have as good
an outcome. So what I've tried to do is use
my personal experiences to help educate our team, meaning I
tell them my story or I tell them other people's
story and just try to give them real life perspective.

Speaker 4 (01:31:35):
And I said, every time you have a hard day,
just come with me.

Speaker 6 (01:31:38):
We'll go sit at the valet at the hospital, children's hospital,
VA doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
Let's just watch. And you think you're having it hard, No, No,
this is really easy.

Speaker 6 (01:31:47):
To fly around, play basketball and eat food and all
that stuff, go to school and we're.

Speaker 4 (01:31:51):
Paying for all of it and you're getting paid.

Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:31:54):
It's it's just perspective and our it's a credit to
our players because we coach Krabanoff has a great saying
that in the recruiting process, we do really well with
good people. I mean they turn into really good players,
they're great community members, they have great success here on
and off the court, and really good people have that

(01:32:16):
perspective of this is bigger than yourself.

Speaker 3 (01:32:19):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:32:19):
The last thing you need to have here is an ego.
The things that you are the center focus. Now, this
is all bigger than us. And I think that experience
taking the kids to our guys to the children's hospital,
they knew, but.

Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
They dove right in.

Speaker 6 (01:32:33):
Man, they're sitting in bedside with those kids. Same thing
when we went to LA last week and we were
doing the food bank stuff. It's just we have really
good people and our fans all see them or listen
to you guys call and they run around in the
jerseys and they think they're just kids. They're young adults,
and but they're on the right track in life, and
it's our job to, you know, help them through the

(01:32:55):
good and show them some bad too, like hey, you
might be a parent, you know, in a situation.

Speaker 4 (01:33:00):
Or you might have somebody.

Speaker 6 (01:33:03):
I think it's just our obligation to be able to
help lift other people up.

Speaker 1 (01:33:07):
That was a it was a powerful moment. I'll say
that on a lighter note. Butches neither of us could
talk there for a couple of minutes. I think some
would view that as peak broadcasting on our part. Again,
congratulations on this, and you know, for for everything that
you and Michelle do for guarding against cancer. And give
yourself a couple of hours to enjoy this one, and
we'll see you in Maryland.

Speaker 6 (01:33:27):
We got eagles or commanders or chiefs or bills, what
do we Our packers aren't in it.

Speaker 1 (01:33:33):
I've got you know there there at our station. There's
a couple of like chiefs haters. So therefore go Chiefs
and UH and Eagles. I think I saw Bo Allen,
the former Eagle, former couple different teams. He had a
great post. He's at the game today. So because of
Bo's connection there, he wanted to ring there a few
years ago. So give me Eagles Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
I mean he also did have Aaron Andrews and UH
Thompson around both arms.

Speaker 6 (01:33:57):
So he's living a good life. What do you well,
I'm sure I checked my phone and I'll tell I
got him fly Eagles Fly text like a week ago.

Speaker 1 (01:34:08):
That's true.

Speaker 6 (01:34:09):
Yeah, I haven't, Uh, I haven't checked with him lately.
I'm sure I left him alone after the after the
Eagles dunked the Packers.

Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
Yeah, that was a smart choice. And he didn't rub
it in. He didn't throw any salt in the moon.

Speaker 1 (01:34:20):
I was gonna say it kept him off the golf course.
But he's probably already played as well. Yeah he's he's
already played. Yeah, he's already played. He'll be tuned in. Yeah,
we'll go go relax and enjoy those We will enjoy
the game rights for the Terrabins. There you go to
coach Badger, said coach Greg Guard joining US Wisconsin eighty
