Speaker 4 (01:17):
It is time for Wisconsin Women's hockey. I'm Tim Scott
in our Badger Game Day Studios. The Badger Women make
their home debut tonight with a two game series against
the main Black Bears. We'll drop the pocket, We'll be
live in Lebon arena with Paul Brown coming up shortly now.
Tonight's game has a special twist as they will honor
last season's National championship Badger team with a pregame ceremony

(01:41):
featuring the National Championship banner unveiling and players from last
year's squad on hand as well. So a special night
coming up at Lebon. Let's begin though with last week
where the Badgers open their season with a sweep against
the Beavers of Bamigi State.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Harvey tried to center it and did right out front
Sea Girl, the first of the career for Chapa pull
Boba Happy.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Sheppy going to the net after the pass from Harvey.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Her first goal is a Wisconsin Badgers and they're going
to give her the fuck. That's awesome and controlling it McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
In front Cotta goal by Scannal.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Man Scannal gets her fourth goal already this year. Wow,
and Wisconsin takes a two to nothing laid on a
beautiful pass from the corner and the play Potter gets
it back and front, moving it in shot block.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Rebound Shota goal just determination by Potter and the Badgers
take three to nothing laid and they score with thirteen
point four seconds left in the period.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
's PB Paul Brown and Greeney Mark Greenhole on the
call in Bimidgi last week, the Badgers put up nine
goals in the nine to two victory in Game one.
Game two, they stayed red hot. It was a five
to nothing shut out, the first of the season for
goaltender Ava McNaughton. Badgers also collected their one hundredth program
win in that series. Now, the series sweep allowed the

(03:12):
Batchers to remain number one in the usch HL poll.
Following the Badgers this week in the poll or Ohio State, Minnesota, Cornell,
and Minnesota Duluth. Wisconsin, by the way, meads at home
at Lebon on October eleventh and twelfth. Well, let's focus
on tonight. Making its way to Lebon for the first
time ever are the main Black Bears. These two schools

(03:35):
have previously met some four times. Wisconsin in the series
history leads it for nothing and nothing. The Batchers last
faced the Bears during a two game series at Maine
back in November of last year. During that series, the
trio of Badgers each put up two goals during Game one.
Seniors Layla Edwards, Caroline Harvey, and Kirsten Simms led the

(03:57):
Badgers to a nine to nothing shut up that night
second game of the series. Equally good for the Badgers
is they went on to win six to one. There
is a Badger connection to the Main Black Bears, and
a big one. Main's head coach is former Badger and
recently inductee into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame this fall,
Molly Engstrom. Engstrom, as you may remember, is a two

(04:21):
times w All WCCHA first team member, a two thousand
and five Patty Casmier Top ten finalist, and a two
time Olympic medalist for Team USA. She played for the
Badgers from two thousand and one to two thousand and five,
during which she recorded twenty eight goals and some fifty
seven assists as a defender. We're about nine, maybe ten
minutes away from the drop of the puck tonight. When

(04:42):
we come back, well, head back live to Lebon Arena.
Paul brown sits down with the head coach, Mark Johnson.
That conversation is next. You are listening to Wisconsin Badger
Hockey presented by Oak Park Place on ten seventy the game.

All Welcome up to Wisconson Women's Hockey. Here on the game,
presented all season long by oak Park Place Independence. When
you wanted, assistance, when you need it. Time now for
the Coaches Corner. Earlier this week, the voice of Badger
women's hockey, Paul Brown, caught up with the head coach,
Mark Johnson. Their conversation is presented by Fields Medicine, your

(06:19):
premiere luxury auto group, serving customer since nineteen seventy one.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Mark, there's a lot going on. There's a two game
series with Maine, but tonight, just briefly recap what's going
to happen here.

Speaker 10 (06:32):
Well, we're going to put our banner up from the
national championship last year, and there'll be a ceremony prior
to the puck drop tonight, and so some of our
players that were with us last year will be back
that graduated and then obviously the players that were on
the team last year, they're still on the team, will
be introduced. And Casey O'Brien's still around, so she'll bring
the trophy out and it'll be a great celebration and.

Speaker 11 (06:54):
They'll bring the banner down and that'll be up.

Speaker 10 (06:57):
There till whoever with decides to take them down along
and some time from now.

Speaker 11 (07:01):
But yeah, it's a special night.

Speaker 10 (07:03):
Obviously doesn't happen very often, so you certainly want to
remember what we did last year. But at the same time,
when they dropped the puck to start this game, we've
got to be focused in in that.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Let's recap just a little bit your eighth championship as
coach of the Wisconsin Badgers. Are they different? I mean,
obviously the way last championship was won, but when you
think about all of that, there's got to be some
difference based on talent or whatever. How do you kind

(07:34):
of look at them?

Speaker 10 (07:35):
No, I think each one is different in their own
because you have a different group of players, and.

Speaker 11 (07:41):
How you got to the end and how you won.

Speaker 12 (07:43):
Is generally different too.

Speaker 10 (07:44):
So you know, the one we had a couple of
years ago up in Duluth, it was a lot different
than the one we just had up in Minneapolis.

Speaker 11 (07:52):
And of the eighth the one last year is probably the.

Speaker 10 (07:56):
Craziest finish as we all witnessed, you know, the last
eighteen seconds and then overtime. So the nice thing about
most of them is that, you know, we have good
fans support.

Speaker 11 (08:07):
So last year in Minneapolis we had a lot of
Badger fans.

Speaker 10 (08:10):
A couple of years ago into Luth, we had a
lot of Badger fans, And so we get to enjoy it,
but more importantly, our fans get to enjoy it too.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Also part of this weekend Molly Yngstrom, who played for
you and coached with you back two thousand and one.
In two thousand and five, I chatted with her a
little bit earlier. She's going to be on our broadcast tonight.
She was very complimentary of her experience here and the
knowledge she picked up from you in terms of what

(08:38):
she uses in her coaching philosophy.

Speaker 10 (08:41):
Yeah, she was one of the early pioneers. Had a
wonderful career herself. I mean, got a chance to play
in a couple Olympics and she was one of the
early players that we had.

Speaker 11 (08:51):
You know, Jackie was back in that group.

Speaker 10 (08:53):
And Carla McLeod and those are the individuals that laid
the foundation of why we've been successful because of the
work that they've with So she was a fantastic player.

Speaker 11 (09:02):
And she's also a very good coach.

Speaker 10 (09:05):
And the longer she stays that made them more of
a threat. They become not only into Hockey East, but
to everybody in the country.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
One final one, what'd you take away from last weekend
with the two wins, Well.

Speaker 11 (09:16):
We got our feet wet.

Speaker 10 (09:17):
Everybody got a chance to play, and so you know,
we have material now that the players showcased the coaching
staff and gives us an indication of some of the
things we need to work on.

Speaker 11 (09:28):
And so we had a good week of practice.

Speaker 10 (09:30):
I'm hoping the ceremony is enjoyable for everybody and then
get back to business and looking for some things tonight
that maybe we didn't do quite as well as we
want to. If we can do a better job tonight,
and the big thing is to try and create some
opportunities early on, see if we had a goal or.

Speaker 11 (09:45):
Two and get the crowd into it. Good luck, coach,
thank you.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
They've just lowered the matter for the eighth NCAA Women's
Championship before a sellout crowd here at Labon Arena on
the campus of the University of Wisconsin two thousand and six,
two thousand and seven, two thousand and nine, two thousand

(10:11):
and eleven, two thousand and nineteen, two thousand and twenty one,
two thousand and twenty three free seed the eighth national
title two thousand and twenty five. They had the presentation
here on the ice. They introduced all of the team members.

(10:32):
They took team pictures. They introduced the coaching staff, and
the gals are going to get their rings here tonight
for that national championship. And I have seen and was
given a ring, and they are unbelievable. I'm sure you're

(10:53):
going to see the ring on social media or in person.
It is a beautiful ring. It is very large, and
it opens up. You've got the big w on top
surrounded by diamonds, and you open up the ring and
it's got all of the championships inside and a picture

(11:16):
of an ice rink, and on the side of the
ring it lists your name and also the championship. It
is absolutely beautiful and everybody certainly is going to be
proud to have it. We have some and they're introducing

(11:43):
the starting lineups for the Badgers and the Black Bears
of Maine and for Maine the starting lineup. We got
Greenee coming up here now Greenee, yep. We're getting everybody
trying to get everybody in the press and get organized here.
How about that presentation.

Speaker 13 (12:03):
Wow, that was nice to see the old you know,
the graduates back and then Bucky dropping the banner real
quick right in the middle.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
I loved it.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
How about that ring. I can't. I can't hardly describe it.
You take a look at it, you take years out.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
I got one here.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
It's got a weigh at least two pounds.

Speaker 13 (12:19):
Well, oh yeah, I mean it's like a Weber grill.
You could cook a hamburger on there when you flip
up the top. And then they got the lebon arena
in there, and it's just unbelievable, unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
I've never seen anything like.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I know it is crazy, but I don't know how
you're gonna wear it.

Speaker 13 (12:37):
I know that's just yet. You can only wear it
to some oddball convention in Vegas or something.

Speaker 5 (12:43):
It's a little gaudy, but it's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
And the introduction of the Wisconsin Badgers will be coming
up here momentarily and we'll see what the starting lineup
is gonna be for Wisconsin. They will have that introduction
and then the playing and the singing of our national
anthem and will be underway. We can tell you that
Kirsten Zimms is on the left wing along with Schapo

(13:11):
Volet Voba at center, and on the right side is
lacing Eden Paired on that one forward line. Aba McNaughton
will be the goaltender. She is appearing in her sixty
seventh game for the Wisconsin Badgers. She gets the call.
She's fifty eight, four and two in her career. Back defensively,

(13:36):
it's Kk Harvey along with Vivian Jungles. They are paired defensively.
They're moving it around a little bit, still looking for
combination and opening up for the Wisconsin Badgers. After the
introduction of Vivian Jungles. Now they'll introduce the starting line

(13:58):
up front and it's gonna be the line of Chapel
bole Boba at center along with Sims, Kirst and Sims.
And boy did she get around of applause here early on,
and they showed the winning goal for the eighth championship.

(14:20):
And on the right side, it's gonna be Lacey Eden.
The Badgers are two to zero on the ear. The
main Black Bears are zero and two. They're coached by
Molly Engstrom, who's a former Badger, and we'll talk with
her during the first intermission. We're back with the opening
face off after this time out. This is Badger Women's

Badgers will be skating from our right to our left
here at Levon Arena in the first period, and the
Black Bears of Maine are gonna be skating from our
left to our right. Greeney. In terms of practice this
week and in terms of talking with the team, what
did they take away from that first weekend of competition.

Speaker 13 (16:26):
Well, one of the things that was emphasized this week
is it's about us, not I, you know, So that
was just something after last weekend. You know, everybody's competitive,
they want to a lot of time or I want
to be in the power player.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
I want to be this or that. It's like, hey,
we're doing the best for the team, and let's let's
all get in that, buy into that. And I think
they have This week was a good step toward that.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
And Wisconsin two and allo on the year.

Speaker 18 (16:52):
You know what it is.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I looked it up since we started broadcasting.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Yeah, you know what the record is.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
What would you take again?

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Boy, we have any since we started?

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Fifty five wins, three losses in two tiles fifty five
three and that that's not bad. Paul get used to
winning a little bit.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
Yeah, yeah, getting greedy here.

Speaker 12 (17:14):
You know.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Molly Angstrom the coach. She played for the Badgers back
in two thousand and one through two thousand and five.
She was an All American. She coached with Mark Johnson,
and she is now in her fourth year with the
Black Bears. They are forty one, fifty nine and seven
in her fourth year. The opening line of Border Podewell

(17:37):
and Jacob Fermine and we're ready to go here the
first game of the year from lebon Arena, and the
Badgers will set it up at their own blue line.
Jungles with it tries to advance the puck on the nearboards,
over the sims play back down in behind the goaltender
is latinen four the main Black Bears, Badgers hold it in.

(17:59):
They move it in in sims with a drive that's
deflected wide of the goal. The Badgers try to hold
it along the boards on the near side, back down
in the corner, eating with it. Eiden put it out
in front. There's a clearing pass away from the front
of the net and the Badgers. Harvey tried to backhand
and hold the zone, backhanded out by border whistle and

(18:21):
play is going to be stopped here in the opening period.

Speaker 13 (18:25):
You know, Paul, I thought maybe that the banner dropping
sometimes that can be a distraction, But I just think
it really added energy to the building or team.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
I really do. And I like that good feeling right.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Now in here crowned at Lebon Arena, where the Badgers
have been extremely effective over the years. Last year nine
years they won one hundred and forty games and lost
twelve and eight games have ended in a time. Base
off will come up for the Wisconsin Badgers and Maine

(18:56):
and they'll play it just outside the blue line of
the Black Bear trying to win the draw will be
fetch and Wisconsin countering with the line of Gorbatanko, Haul
and Scanneal. Scanner's already got four goals on the year.
Badger's in front of the black Bear bench, try to
pick it up. Maine with it. They work it around
on the near side, trying to get something going in

(19:18):
the neutral zone, laid back in behind, worked around the boards,
Sandal trying to clear it man. Maine picks it up
and they'll move it through center rise and the puck
is going to be played along the boards in the
neutral zone. Badgers go back over to regroup in their
own zone and they'll come up ice on the break,
fucking the neutral zone. Badgers carry it through with it

(19:41):
as Potter. Potter turned and fired a drive wat of
the goal. Potter is paired with Edwards defensively, Wisconsin backing
a wrap around in Front's going to be cleared down
in the corner on the play at the point and
Maine turns it out. They come. Shay is out with
Ryan and Worm. Badger's trying to pick it up. Wisconsin

(20:02):
out on a forward line, trying to get it toward
the n right Percard and Halverson. Wisconsin for checking with two.
The Bears work it back out over the center ice
in the neutral zone. N Right had it picked off
her stick back in the line and Maine with it.
The pass went off on the left side and out

(20:23):
his powle along with Border and Jacob back bows McNaughton
and works it around the boards around of the playoff on.
Wisconsin carries it through center eyes per card between the dots,
fired it and it was kicked wide of the goal
there and Wisconsin trying to hold the zone near board
seventeen thirty remaining in her first scoreless period. Brit with it,

(20:46):
plays it in and covering up Isabel McNaughton swept it
around on the break, Badger's McCarthy with it, moving it
up Ice. McCarthy on the line with a zillish and
pekin' hoggin and the play comes back and Maine turns
up the ice. They come fetch comes in over the line,
Fetch off in the pass, tried to get it away

(21:07):
from Michaud and it's going to be the Black Bears
working a behind the net of Wisconsin hustling overs mishowed it.
Harvey will break it out on the play. It comes
through center Rice and teaking housing with it. Worked it
around the boards on the far side, and Maine works
it back out over the center ice. No score in

(21:29):
the game. We're at sixteen forty one remaining in the
first period. Badgers have scored four goals in the first
period and not giving up. In Vivian jungles Onovydyna, Minnesota
played for the Hornets and works it up Ice on
the break over the sims. Sims with it, rink wat
in the past Badgers at center Rice over to Harvey,

(21:49):
tried to give it to Egans. She was tied up
and went down. It's played in the corner and back
goes Harvey to set it up for Wisconsin. She shuffles
it around over picking it up. Coming back into the
play is Lacey Eden. She's gonna come out of the
zone up the near boards at center eyes. She controls it,
comes in over the line, plays it back down in

(22:09):
the corner, worked it behind the nets. Still control the
puck and it's going to be played out as sims
along with Schapevole Goba and then Wisconsin's Eden with it.
Little given go moving it in shot that's deflected away.
They shot and their goaltender according to Molly, Ingram is

(22:30):
one of their strengths on the team. It's going to
be set up and controlled, tipped through center eyes Leyley Edwards,
number ten of the Badgers on the break coming in
over the line. It's Cassie Hall working it around the
boards on the far side, playing and trying to go
to the point. No score in the game, fifteen twenty

(22:50):
remaining in the period, and it's going to be down
in the corner on the nearboards. Wisconsin's Edwards with it.
We'll turn and bring it out on the break. They
play it down in the corner on the left side,
chasing it as Gorbitenko also trying to get there. As
Britt Britt and Gormtanco Scannon comes over to help out.
Maine turns and up ice. They come out of their

(23:11):
own zone working the wing. As Stevenson get over the
Wisconsin line. Hall tries to take it away. Badgers in
their own zone work it behind the net. They'll come
out of the break on the near side, coming through
neutral ice with a puck. Wisconsin scandal with it and
she works it around the boards down in the corner

(23:31):
of its Gorbatanco that's turned away by Michaud. Michaud on
the brake, moving it up, Ice over the worm, played
it back in behind McNaughton, who turned and flipped it
around the boards. Wisconsin with it. It's Gorbatanco. Garbatanco comes up.
Ice fired it on the brake, coming in over the
line on the far side.

Speaker 11 (23:51):
Was ed.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
That's played to the wing on the near board. So
the Badger's looking to try and hold the zone out
is per Card. Maine comes back back of the line.
They had a potential break, but it was turned away
from Hanson. Wisconsin back in over the line, controlling it.
They play it to the point. Nobody home for the
Badgers at the point. Harvey held it in off of

(24:13):
those air per Card with the drive. Nice shot and
that's going to be turned away. Good action here, Yeah,
there was a nice shot from the slot. Harvey Oyce
moves the puck quickly. There is some good, good activity
going on and jungles with it, moving it up. Ice
angled it off the boards. Badgers come in over the line.
They try to work it in the circle, trying to
skate it down as jungles in the corner on the

(24:35):
far boards. It's going to be set up and controlled
coming out on the right side and the break on
the lead. Wisconsin goes back in their own zone. Thirteen
twenty five, remaining puck loose, back in behind the Badger
net around the boards. It's Jacob with it. Jacob along
with her line mates of Podel and Border, try to

(24:55):
set something up. Saves in the game are three to
one and it's back to the boards on the far side.
Wisconsin trying to clear it out of their own zone.
It's going to be held in there. Nice play by Border.
Border down in the corner looking for help from Pudewell.
Pudewell backdoor center pass hopped over the stick there. Otherwise

(25:19):
they'd had a golden opportunity and a shot in front
of the damp and coming up Ice controlling it. Badger's
trying to get a control of the puck in the
neutral zone and they'll drive it down to the corner
by enright. Badgers and the main scoreless in the first
period twelve thirty four. Remaining in the period. Wisconsin at
the point with it is Potter round of the far side,

(25:42):
over the layley Edwards moving it in shot that's blocked
in traffic. It's going to be cleared and Maine will
set it up to come out of their own zone,
controlling the puck as me, Show Me, Show comes in
over the line rust shot blocked by McNaughton, covered up
and made the say.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (26:01):
If the early part here is any indication, I would
agree with Molly Angstrom's analysis of their goaltender being a strength.
She's played every shot very well, always in a good position, quick,
good lateral movement, real sound.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Both teams at full strength and shots are three a side,
no score in the game, and we're at the twelve
oh five mark of the period. This period has brought
to you by Oak Park Place and it's going to
be set up. Leylan Edwards had a tipped off her
stick covering back is Lacey Eden. Eden with it worked

(26:35):
it up the far side, Badgers in their own zone control.
They work it up on the near boards, coming to
the blue line and play at center eyes. Little action
going on there in the neutral zone. Wisconsin trying to
control it as the Badgers. Edwards will back end it
down in the corner, skating back of it to pick

(26:55):
it up. BET's Jacob around of the break on the
far wing that come back on the near side in
over the Wisconsin line and the play loose down in
the corner. Both teams at full strength back over to
try and control it. Is Eden Aiden with it. She
flipped it up in front of the Badger bench and
neutral Ice. Badger's gotta go back and Banusio will cover

(27:16):
for the Badgers. Bonusio with it slides it out of
the brake and coming through center Ice is Sims. Sims
cuts in over the line. Sims try to go to
the slot and it was turned away. There Scandal trying
to help out, laid back down in the corner, back
in the Wisconsin zone. We're gonna take a break. This
is Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Yeah. Ten of minutes and fifty seconds remaining here in
the first period of play. No store and Maine, who's
zero and two, But they're giving them a pretty good effort.

Speaker 13 (28:22):
At Yeah, they don't make many mistakes, if any, they're
playing smart hockey.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Badgers look to set it up and it comes back
out of the zone and it comes about of the
play controlling it coming back into the line as Murphy
Murphy trying to control the puck. Heer Screba Tankle with
a backcender and covering up and the save is made.
We have five up on the board against three for

(28:48):
the home team, Maine out shooting the Badgers at this point.
And we'll have the face off coming up to the
right side of their goaltender, and that is Latin, and
it's going to be played up toward the main bench,
in fact, up into the bench area, and we'll have
a stoppage. Employer.

Speaker 13 (29:11):
Yeah, it's shots are pretty close here. We got five
to their three, I believe, but you know, we've had
puck possession, but just like to get some more shots
on that.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
What do you see Maine doing to Wisconsin so far?

Speaker 13 (29:26):
At this point, they're contesting us, they're not letting us
skate with the puck freely. You know, in any zone
there's always somebody on you.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
And the number one line out for the Badgers. This
is sims in front and Lacy Eden was right there,
but the basque got deflected. Badgers looked to hold his
zone down to the corner on the near side. Sims
Is bumped and played it back to the point over
the jungle. Shot tipped in front. Man that went off
the stick I believe of Chapo. Yeah, and but she

(29:59):
reacted well and made the safe yeah a lot, and
then stayed right on it. And she ended up gloving
it while she's in the butterfly to have a face off.
Here to her right and in the face off circle
is Shapovolo Beva and it goes back over to sims
back out on top. Here's Harvey with a shot and
it's covered up in the slot. She fired it right on. Yeah,

(30:21):
from the blue line.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Another saved through traffic. She stays on it, doesn't she Yeah,
she does.

Speaker 13 (30:27):
You know, we're trying to take her eyes away with
good net front presence, but she's seen it all the way.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
And the drug is going to be played by Harvey
at the point tried to drive it down to the
corner of the right side. Harvey's got it back out
to neutral, plays it back quickly, coming in over the line,
moving it in Eden shouting whoa. And there's a collision
in front of the net between Fetch Yeah and Chapeau

(30:56):
Bolet Bova, but quickly separated. Nothing serious there.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
You know. Another thing I'm noticing is the pops.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
We've got to take a time out here. Greene, my bad.

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by oak Park Place.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Back with Mark green Hall. I'm Paul Brown, nine fifty four.
We're meting in the first period we have no score
here at Labon Arena. We're in the US nine years.
The Wisconsin Badgers have won a total of one hundred
and forty games here at home, with twelve losses and
eight ties. And at Lebond the record is even better.

(32:12):
Of course, the history is longer than nine years. They
are one hundred and ninety three, twenty one and twelve.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
Not bad, not a bad percentage.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Shapovole a Boba will try to win the base off
for the Badgers, whoop, They take her out and put Sims.
Simms is going for it and played back down on
the corner on the far side and going back Maine
setting it up. They'll turn to come out of their
own zone on the break, coming up ice with it
Ni show when rink watt in the pass to the

(32:45):
far side over to Stevenson, banked around the boards, Wisconsin
down to the corner and with it as Kirsten Simms
on the rush, she comes out of her own zone,
comes back on the near side. On the play, Potter
carries it over the line down in the corner, goes
behind the net, Eden's in front of the goal and back.

(33:06):
The Badgers look to try and control it on the
near wing where scoreless here in the first period, nine
to thirteen remaining. The two teams will play tomorrow afternoon
at Lebon Arena. Face off time. Badger's two and zero
on the year. The scrum going on in the corner.
The officials let them play. Dug out and fired right

(33:28):
on heavy traffic in front of the net. Good pressure
there by Wisconsin Alberson almost worked their way loose. Badgers
hold his own and they'll play it deep down in
the corner on the near boards, and right is out
along with per card. That's a good line. Lot of
energy in that line.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Yeah, there's some good stuff.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Aba Murphy carries it in and Ava fired it deflected.
She chased it down in the corner on the near side.
Ab but a defensive person for the Badger paired with
Venusio along the boards on the nearer wing. Badgers back
to the point. They get it to Venusio around on
the far side. They throw it toward the slot. It's

(34:11):
loose in the corner. The Badgers play it to the
point over the Abra Murphy. They work the wing on
the near side. Badgers Elverson with it. Her pass is
intercepted and coming up Ice with it as worm a
collision in the neutral zone. Play continues. Murphy comes in
over the line left side. Tried to center it, but
it's going to be turned back and the movie get

(34:33):
off Ice controlling it. The black Bear Maine with a drive.
They see with the blocker around on the far side.
That Podewell is out with Border and Jacob their number
one unit Badgers pick it up. Man whist here comes U.
I thought I heard a whistle.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Yeah, Gorbel thought she had to break it away.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
She's looking like did it blow or didn't it? There?

Speaker 13 (34:56):
Off to the races air, but the official thought otherwise.
I don't know if it's it off sides or what
we got here.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Molly Angstrom will be our guest between intermission one and two.
Molly is originally from Wisconsin, up in the Northern Pirate
of the state. Played here in two thousand and one
through two thousand and five, and she was an assistant
coach under Mark Johnson. She won a gold medal for
Team USA in two thousand and five, and another interesting

(35:28):
sat on her she went and lived in Russia. Wow,
and she got her master's degree really over in Russia,
you know. On sports administration and they were talking about
the gap in women's hockey throughout the world.

Speaker 21 (35:42):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Heck of an experience for Mallie.

Speaker 5 (35:44):
Yeah, she was an Olympian when Mark coached the team
in two ten and.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Played back down on the corner on the far side.
She's also in the Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame. She
went in there two years ago, and Greeney went in
there two weeks ago.

Speaker 5 (35:58):
Oh at the Wisconsin yea coming.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Up ice controller get hear scannal scandal between the Dots.
Four goals on the year already, but she couldn't get
off a drive there. Coming back up ice controller get
border comes in over the line, lost control of the puck.
Nice deed Badgers two to one in shots on the lead,
but no score in the game. With six fifty four
remaining in the first period and coming through neutral ice

(36:23):
with it is fetch Batch in over the line. Badger's
on the near side controlling and they try to move
it up ice. McCarthy drops it back. Wisconsin will regroup
at center, take it away by Maine. Maine down in
the corner. Maine with it on the play on the
near boards, Wisconsin turning coming up ice. They work it

(36:44):
through the neutral zone, trying to skate it down back
in a centering path from Pekinhogen plot with McCarthy and
Zelish around over to Edwards. Edwards control to get just
inside the blue line around over the potter with drive
right on and the save is made.

Speaker 13 (37:03):
Paul I was going to comment earlier there we had
a time out, but uh, their goaltender, if you notice
every shot is is ended up right in her center,
you know, right nor sternum so which tells me she's
never out of position no matter where the SHOT's taken from.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
Uh, she's always squared up perfectly so far.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Based off coming up to the right side of the
goaltender and it's banged around the boards by Rusinski trying
to clear it, held in and controlled. Shay had it
shaves out with Worm and Ryan on that forward line
for Maine and the buck along the boards on the
near side. Sims is out with Eden and Chapel Bowle

(37:44):
a Boba and at center Ice trying to control it
back in over the line. Here's Chapevole a Boba around
the far boards. They backhanded down to the corner back
over to Sims, Sims and Eden moving out front and
it was tipped off the stick of Murphy as she
tried to move into the slot down in the corner
with its Eden aiden between the Dots and Wisconsin. Ava

(38:08):
Murphy had tried to hold the zone. Man will change
up the Badgers with Venusio back in her own zone.
She's on the solo rush. She carries it through center
Ice comes in between the Dots, Polk checked away from
her stick. Badgers go back in Halverson. Alverson controlling the
puck looking to play it to Pricard in front of

(38:30):
the Badger bench. Center Ice turned back by Podewell. Badgers
will flush it down to the corner on the far side.
It comes around of the play over to Ava Murphy
who played it off the back wall into Wisconsin zone
four fifty, remitting in the scoreless first period. Badgers come
out of their own zone. The puck is going to

(38:50):
be tipped up into the board or in the bench
area and we'll have play stop.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
Well, I tell you, it looks like could be a
low scoring game.

Speaker 13 (39:01):
I don't know, there's a lot of just thinking the
same running a lot of game left, but just by
that style that I'm seeing from both teams right.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Now, Garbtenko, Hall and scandal Out Scannal with four goals
this year already, including a hat trick last weekend.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Yeah, she plays hard, doesn't She sure does.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
She was on the fourth line as a center. Tonight
she's playing in the right wing on the second line.
They make some changes, looking for the combinations long season ahead,
controlling it. Here comes scandal up Ice around in the
neutral zone. The puck is going to be played away,
jungle skating back over. Got to give credit to Maine here.

(39:43):
They've played pretty good hockey against the Badgers in the
first period, and it's going to be played right on.
McNaughton who blocked it, knocked it down. Four h five
aremitting in the period. Wisconsin coming up ice Kk Harvey
and over the line between the dots. Garbatanco with the
drive and a glove save as Garbo Tanko went low.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
Yeah, she picked it right out of.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
The air with that glove save.

Speaker 5 (40:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (40:11):
She came through the slot and kind of went across
the grain a little bit, but the goaltender wasn't fooled
and stayed in position and gloved it.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Kelly Gorbatanco one of three Gorbatancos on this hockey club.
Two other ones came in this year, two of six
recruits for the Badgers. Edward's with it comes around on
the play over the Potter with a drive went in
behind the Depp. It's gonna be played. Badgers try to
control it. Eden down on the corner from the near side,

(40:39):
tried to play it to the near point. Badgers with
pressure try to hold the zone. And we're down now
to three point thirty five. Remitting. We had a check
from behind on Sims. The officials took a look, no
call on that, and it comes back to the point
around over the Potter slides it across on the right,
over to Edwards. Shot block. Wow, off the body. There

(41:01):
are the goaltender h Latinen and play continues just inside
the line. Maine trying to bring it out. Sim's with it,
back to Edwards, back to Sims, shot block. Oh, and
the backhander just why by Chapo Vollet Bob And there's
a drive right on by Potter and the save as man.

(41:23):
But what a nice setup.

Speaker 13 (41:25):
Yeah, a good sequence of passes there and the offensive
zone through the slot and then the Chapel almost had
a rebound goal there.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
Chapel to go the full name there, buddy.

Speaker 5 (41:37):
I told I was instructed just call her chape or yeah, apparently.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
That's what the teammates are be getting to call her.
She said they used to call her that.

Speaker 13 (41:46):
Well, after having her name butchered as much as she has,
probably I don't blame her.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
And I'm one of those that Butcher did last weekend.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
You got it down better than most, to tell you,
and coming up.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Ice controlling it coming back intut of the line is
pode Well with a backhand and Ava mcnontin popped it
up into the glove to make this say, two forty
three remaining in the scoreless first period, Badgers put up
fourteen on the board. Last weekend they only allowed two
Badger's averaging forty shots a game. But here in the

(42:19):
first period they got about thirteen to seven so far,
but no score in the game, no penalties. Call back
over to try and set it up. The puck coming
out of the neutral zone, Badgers carry it in over
the line, break into the net is in right shot
block and there's another collision and Halverson not very happy

(42:42):
as one of the Badgers got checked and went into
the boards. But okay, yeah, don't get hurt.

Speaker 5 (42:48):
Yep, yep. Don't want to getting hurt.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Two twenty eight remaining in this scoreless first period.

Speaker 13 (42:56):
Well, Maine is well positioned on the ice and they
don't do anything foolish with the puck. Their goaltender is
very solid, so they're gonna make us earn it.

Speaker 2 (43:05):
And the play down in the corner going back over
that is long. With it around the boards on the
near side, Badgers look to hold it in just inside
the line. That's Aba Murphy trying to work it between
the dots along the boards. On the far side. Badger's
at the point will work the wing. It goes to
the stick of Gorbatanco down on the corner on the

(43:28):
pass over to Halverson or scandal pardon me and the
movie get back up Ice Maine in front of their
own bench trying to control it, sneaking in was fetch
and they'll turn and play it back down in behind.
One fifty two remitting in the period. No score in
the game here at Lebon, sellout crowd on hand. Game

(43:48):
two tomorrow comes in over the line, Gorbatanco, We're gonna
get a penalty out of this when it sun's a
collision in front of the net. Maybe a slashing call.
The Badgers are going to go on the power play.

Speaker 5 (44:02):
Yeah, we'll see what we can do with this.

Speaker 13 (44:03):
With one thirty nine left to go on the period,
Gorbo got taken down there. She went toward the net hard,
slid into the net and knocked the goalie in the
net and everything off.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
But yeah, eighteen twenty one the time of the penalty,
and it's gonna be called on britt yep. So the
Badgers go on the power play. They were one for
two last weekend and in the face off circle it's

(44:34):
shapovol a Bova and the play comes all the way
back down to the Badger zone. One thirty five remaining
in the period. Here comes Harvey on a hurry, comes
in over the line, shuffles it off on the play
back over to Harvey in front. They got Schapo bol
a Bova back around over to Edwards. Edwards crowd getting

(44:54):
into it now, Channing, let's go right. Here's Sims round
on the play. Shot beautiful. He saved there, kicked off
the path, left Harvey with it moving it in. Here's
Sims shot block and it's clear to the boards on
the near side. Badger's really setting it up nicely back
over the Sims. Sim's getting it back. Wow, the opportunities.

(45:16):
They slide it around over to Harvey. Harvey head up,
passes it around over the wedwards, back over the Sims.
Little in front wall man, but a kick save is
made there. Boy there goaltender is holding her him in
the game. It comes around over to Harvey. Harvey with
a drive that's block looking for the puck in the circle.
It's going to be backhanded, but knocked down in hell.

(45:39):
Then here's Sims with it. Here's Sims moving it around
over to Harvey. Harvey with it around on the playover
the edwards. She's got a cannon.

Speaker 5 (45:48):
They tip it in front end of the cloud.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
Wow, what a save there.

Speaker 13 (45:54):
We are getting some really high percentedge shots. Paul all
around the next wall shot just outside the lou Paynton
Latinin is right there to answer the bell, and boy,
she's keeping them in it. To put it mildly, because
that was some great opportunities there that we created on
that power play.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
Eighteen shots on the board for the Badgers, seven for
Main but it's a scoreless game. Comes around over to Jungles.
Jungles back on the play Badgers look to set it up.
They're still in the power play in front down on
the corner on the near side. It comes to the
point on the path of it at Jungles are out

(46:31):
of the far side. There's a shot Gorbatanco down to
the corner trying to control. It's going to be turned
and brought out of the zone by Jacob. And we
come to the end of the first period. No score
and what an effort in goals.

Speaker 13 (46:47):
For her main Yes, indeed, Latin then gets if you
were going to give out the stars of the game,
she'd get the first star after the first period. Anyway, man,
what a performance. Eighteen saves and a lot of them,
Like I said, high percentage shots.

Speaker 2 (47:01):

Welcome Back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Oak Park Plays.

Speaker 6 (49:37):
Welcome back to Game number one of the home Arena
at Lebon Arena Badger women's hockey facing off against the
Main Bears. This is Bradburg live in the ten seventy
studio in between periods one and two. What a defensive
battle for this first game at home. Of course, you
had the ceremonial banner dropping at the beginning of the game. Everybody,

(50:00):
including our favorite play by playing color guys Paul Brown
and Mark Greenhall, both got their rings tonight, including former players,
current players. The entire team celebrated that eighth national championship.
So here we are not it at zero at the
end of the first period. Again, it's been a very
defensive battle, some great flurry of shots and attacks towards

(50:23):
the end of that first period. During that power play
again the Badgers are leading in shots on goal by
eighteen to seven against scorers zero zero. One penalty play,
one power play for those Badgers towards the end of
that period, which amounted to us some great saves by
the Bears goal but no goals to account for. So

(50:46):
here we are intermission number one. We are between periods.
We are at zero zero. Paul Brown caught up with
former Badgers player and current Main Bears head coach Molly Ingstrom,
a coach and former player. Profile is brought to you
by Goodman Jewelers. We're here to help you with that
memorable moment. The best is at Goodman Jewelers. Here's that

(51:10):
interview with coach Inkstrom that Paul Brown caught up with earlier.

Speaker 2 (51:15):
We're with Molly Engstrom, who played for the Badgers in
two thousand and one through two thousand and five. Molly
was an All American here, she was a captain. She's
also been honored by the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame
a couple of years ago, and tonight she's going to
be honored here at Lebont Arena. Let's go down memory

(51:35):
lane and just reflect a little bit on all those experiences. Wow, I.

Speaker 21 (51:43):
Every time I come back here, it's just a lot
of memories for me, just being in this arena that
I didn't actually play in and just seeing how far
this team and this program has come. Remembering that we
were part of our classes, part of the season, I believe. Yeah,

(52:03):
having Mark Johnson three out of my four years was
obviously a privilege. And the place or you know, the
mark that this place left on my life and Mark
Johnson as well, is long lasting.

Speaker 5 (52:20):
You know.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
And when you look at all of this that's available
now here, not asking it to compare a book, what
do you see from someone that loves the game of
women's college hockey and coaching it.

Speaker 21 (52:34):
Yeah, these this place, it's grown a lot since I've
been here, and the landscape events in UAA hockey women's
hockey is changing a lot. But I think the biggest
thing is the growth. The facilities are getting better, there's
more teams, more teams are having better facilities as well. Yeah,
so I would say all around that the sport, the

(52:57):
pace of play has grown.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
It was on the ice, and you don't mean it
in a demeaning way. You look at them now and
the quickness, the ability to move the puck, past the puck,
shoot the putt, it's tremendously different.

Speaker 21 (53:09):
Yeah, it is, and I think that happens everywhere, right
when you look at the first NHL ers and the
type of equipment you know, and the pace of that place.

Speaker 11 (53:18):
So it's very natural.

Speaker 21 (53:20):
But yeah, the athletes now that are being produced in
women's ice hockey, the PWHL, these are true professional athletes.
And I mean tonight you're probably going to see you
guys see it every weekend. What five you know, Olympians,
future potential Olympians on the ice. I mean that's a
big deal.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
Mark Johnson, you mentioned his name, and from all of
your coaching experiences throughout the year, how did it influence
you and how does it impacted you as a coach.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
Yeah, it's it's.

Speaker 21 (53:51):
Changed the way I laid the foundation for the way
that I approach coaching, no doubt, the way that I
played the game. You know that my game changed. I
think as a direct result of coming here. I was
surrounded by great players, and I think all of us
players former players would say Mark just created this environment

(54:12):
for us to be able to explore, you know, ourselves,
our creativity, our talent. I think he has a quote
way back when I was first making the national team,
maybe my first Olympic team, Like you know, maybe maybe
nobody really saw that coming, but I had an environment
here that allowed me to become an elite athlete.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
And the coaching philosophy that you've taken now to Maine
with your team, what is it?

Speaker 21 (54:38):
Basically, I mean we call it guardrails. I think it's,
you know, based off a lot of some of the
way you know that Mark coaches it's you know, the
players that he has here. You know, you really can
really open up the ice. I would say right now,
we're we're a hard working team, but working toward and

(55:01):
providing that environment for the athletes to be able to
play and be themselves and like I said, explore their
own talents and their teammates.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
You're in your fourth year, now, how's the development of
the program going? In your mind? Where are you at?

Speaker 5 (55:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (55:14):
I like where we're at.

Speaker 21 (55:15):
We were in our fourth season last year we started.
We always open up with Quinnipiac. You know, they've been
ranked since we've been here. Last year, I think we
lost seven zero and five one, maybe took them into
overtime this year and lost by a goal. So I
like how we've started this seasons. It's something that you

(55:36):
can know until you go through it, you know, taking
over a program, you have your first year and then
you start to make some changes in your roster. Culture
is one thing that we talk a lot about and
have really embraced. So I like our group. It's a
great group of kids.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
Talk about a couple of the individuals we'll be watching
tonight and basically what kind of style will we see potentially.

Speaker 21 (55:57):
Yeah, I mean I have thinks I would start with
our goaltender to a lot, and then she's only a sophomore.
She came from Finland, she had a long way to
go her freshman year, and now she's on the bubble
for the finish national team, which is very respectable. I mean,
Kendall Sunday's on d she's a sophomore, she's from Wisconsin.
She's a little burner out there. Louis Rutsinski is also

(56:20):
a freshman d who got a young decor. And then
our returners on forward, sophomore number thirteen Mikaela Border and
twenty three Jacob They just bring a lot of speed
and a lot of the They're very difficult to play against,
so looking for some more scoring and some playmaking, but

(56:41):
we stress playing as a unit.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Give me just a quicktionopsis on your thoughts of Wisconsin.

Speaker 21 (56:49):
I mean, aside from the fact that you know they
have elite athletes, they just what we're looking to do
this weekend is to compete and take as much as
we can out of this weekend. And honestly, I tell
the girls, like you know, we want to emulate a
lot of things that they do you know, they pass

(57:10):
the puck hard, they know where each other are. You know,
their transition and change of possession is very fast, so
we know what we'll see a lot of that, a
lot of nifty plays and hard plays as well.

Speaker 2 (57:23):
Molly, congratulations on all you've done being honored here tonight's
and nice to see you. Thanks for the interview, Thank
you appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (57:30):
After one period at Lavon Arena, it is still scoreless,

Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey, presented by fall Hard Plays.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
We are back at Lebron Arena. Paul Brown here with
the time coming down on the countdown before the second
period gets underway. The Badgers are coming back out onto
the ice right now. We have a scoreless game after
one period of play. Taking a look at the official stats,
shots on gold Badgers eighteen, Maine with seven saves, main

(01:00:42):
goaltender with eighteen and Ava mcnott with a total of
seven saves. Face off Badgers one eleven. Maine won nine
on the power play. The Badgers oh for one on
the man advantage. Maine did not get an opportunity on
the power play. One penalty for two minutes for the

(01:01:02):
Black Bears of Maine. No scoring plays of course in
that first period of play, and we're getting running here
in the second period. Wisconsin will be going from our
left to our right and Maine will be going from
our right to our left. And Greeney thoughts down in

(01:01:22):
the locker.

Speaker 13 (01:01:23):
Room, well, just we got to compete hard and make
sure we come up with the pucks on the fifty
to fifty battles along the wall, because it's a tight
game and that's a difference maker, and.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Kemnap ice with it. As Leyley Edwards comes in over
the line, Layley Edwards right out in front with a backhander.
She cut through the crease. Harvey around on the near side.
The Badger's control it with Kirsten sim they still have
a power play opportunity, but that's going to expire in
fact right now, So officially the Badger's zho of one,

(01:01:55):
Wisconsin trying to center it toward the slot and Maine
looks to clear it out and they'll slide it back
down to the Badger's zone. But we'll have an icing
called on Maine.

Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
I like that drive to the net by Lela Edwardson.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Yeah, she took it right at the point and worked
it all the way through.

Speaker 5 (01:02:14):
Good to see her do that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Face off is coming to the left side of Latinen,
the goaltender for Main who you heard may have heard
their coach say, is definitely one of their strengths. Molly
very impressed with the progress that she has made. She's
from Friendland, five eight sophomore. Her career record is six

(01:02:40):
seventeen and one, but her say percentage better than ninety
and her goals against average at two point eight, got
a couple of shutouts in her career so far. And
the Badger's at full strength Maine at full strength Wisconsin
with pressure down to the black Bear zone nineteen twelve
remaining in the second period, no score yet up on

(01:03:02):
the board by Maine and Wisconsin tucking the neutral zone,
playing back down in the corner. Ava McNaughton cutting it off,
worked it around on the far side. Badger's turn. Gorbatanco
tries to bring it out, that's taken away and then
reintercepted by Aba Murphy. Aba Murphy coming up ice. She

(01:03:23):
stick handling with a buck, comes out of the zone,
carries it through neutral ice in over the blue line
of Maine. Aba with it, moved it toward the slot
and tended for Scandal picked it up, who played it back.
Over comes to the point on the near side, over
to Leyley Edwards trying to play it in the high
slot and with it as Cassie Hall Gorbitanco trying to

(01:03:45):
work her way loose in front of the goal. Badger's
at the point on the far side, working around over
the potter. Potter goes around on the wrap around and
it's going to be blocked by the near side by
the goaltender. Lodginon.

Speaker 13 (01:04:00):
I thought Rushinsky was going to block that shot their defenseman,
but no, the puck got to the net, but the
goaltender was there. Hey, they've got the Britta Curl's sister
on their team. There a defenseman Brennet Curl number twenty
two for mean.

Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Hopefully we'll talk with the former Badger Curl tomorrow night.
Comes around to the point on the right side over
the Layley Edwards played back of the net, Wisconsin over
to try and pick it up in righters out with
Picard and Halverson and the puck loose along the boards
on the far side, Wisconsin looking to set it up,
but jammed against the wall in the corner by Brett

(01:04:38):
tying up the Badger's percard down there coming over to
help out. Back to the point on the play over
the Potter with a shot that's blocked, and Potter took
a check and Plotter went down, and we've got two
players who had gone on the ice, and let's see
what we got here. Maybe nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
I'm not sure if they're going to assess Potter with
a penalty or now.

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
I don't think no, I don't either think so. So
we'll have both teams changing up lines, checking to make
sure how that line change happens. Face off will come
up to the right side of Latinen back in the
main zone twenty one to seven in shots Badgers with
the lead but no score in the game. Seventeen forty

(01:05:22):
remitting in the second period, Black Bears come through center ice,
committing in over the line shot by Stevenson went wine
and all the way around out of the zone. Badgers
pick it up, trying to control it. Sim's trying to
skate it down along with Lacy and Whistle and icing.
We'll be called and that'll draw the face off back
in the zone of Wisconsin and Maine will change up

(01:05:48):
Badgers or they're going to do it actually in centerize.

Speaker 5 (01:05:52):
Yeah, it was always offside, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Seventeen twenty four remaining Lacey Eden stays out in the
shapovole a Boba try to win the draw. She did
around of the play over the Harvey. Harvey comes in
over the line and the play they set it up
a little give and go chapezvole a Boba went tried
to go in front of the net. Badger's down deep

(01:06:16):
in the zone. Sims behind the net and they try
to get Eden to help out. In shappie her Chapo
to help out, and play comes all the way back
to the blue line of the Badgers, picked up by
Jungles jungle circles just inside the blue line of Wisconsin.
Badgers back it out over to sim Sims on the pass.

(01:06:37):
Wisconsin's Harvey gets the break who leads it over to Jungles.
Jungles moving it in nice pass through trafficked and Eden
fired it high and wide. Yeah, Mayne tried to get
a breakaway going the other way. Buck is loose. Badgers
control it in the neutral zone over to try and
set it up. Turning with it is zillish to play.

(01:07:00):
Laid it down on the corner on the far sides.
Lilly shout with McCarthy and Pekin Hoggin. Badgers try to
control it. Venusio lost control of the puck coming in
over the line. Little given go there that's broken up
off the play from border of Maine. Badgers work it
out over the center ice in the neutral zone. Wisconsin

(01:07:22):
trying to pick it up, flay along the boards and
Maine will set it up at their own blue line.
Sixteen minutes remaining in the second period, still no score
in this hockey game. Badgers work it up ice, they
come in over the line, control to get it. Saba
Murphy able with it down on the corner on the
right boards. Backhanded pass, went around all the way to

(01:07:43):
the far side, and Maine comes out of their own zone.
They carry it in over the Wisconsin line, try to
go left side over the fetch, take it away and
back comes Venusio trying to pick up her own pass,
chasing it down in the corner. Fifteen twenty nine remaining
in the period, and Maine works it back in the
neutral zone, picked up hand controlled. Here's Leila Edwards with

(01:08:06):
Corbettenko moving it in. Layla with the drive and that
went all the way around the boards and out of
the zone. Badgers at center eyes. Potter carries it back
in oto the line. Potter on the far circle trying
to get off a drive, helping out his Scandal. Back
over to Potter. Potter off to Edwards. Well drive and
that was wide of the goal. Hard shot and Hall

(01:08:28):
holds the zone. Badger's with it between the dots with it.
Scannal Scandal fires it right on and that's blocked and
covering up puck came loose. There's another shot still behind
the goal. Badgers with it. They come back over to Edwards.
Here's Edwards moving it in. Shut it down for the

(01:08:51):
Wisconsin Badgers and Wisconsin Lads it one to nothing.

Speaker 13 (01:08:58):
You know, paul shit Edwards is playing d but I
like to see her get her nose in the offensive
play because she's so effective and difficult to stop. She
had a couple of hard shots there. Fucking good stuff
by Leila Edwards to give us our first goal of
the night.

Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Second goal of the year for Leila Edwards and Wisconsin
now with a one to nothing lead, twenty five to
seven and shots and they have so far not added
any assist on that goal Edwards. We'll pick it up
and see if they do. Comes back into the line.

(01:09:34):
Here's Halberson moving it in, tried to center the puck,
played back down in the corner. Leila Edwards led the
country in goal scoring for women last year with five goals.
Now they're working her at defense. A long word last year,
that's set up on the near side, comes out of
the zone whistle and let's see what we.

Speaker 13 (01:09:54):
Think might get called for a cross check perhaps or yeah,
he's going to the box for two minutes, so we're
on the penalty kill. They'll face it off to the
left of Ava.

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
I missed the call on who got the assists face off,
coming up to the left side over the Ava McNaughton.
They watched the action on the power play, the family
kill moving it up Ice, the Badgers try to chase
it down. They had five opportunities on the power play.
The Badgers turned them all away. Their opponents on the

(01:10:41):
five Badgers perfect on the power play so far this season.
Around on the far side over to try and control it.
Wisconsin looking to try and bring it out of the zone.
They're on the penalty goal that was scored by Leila Edwards.
So we have the one to nothing lead. Badgers with
the goal. Maine with the power play with fifty seven

(01:11:03):
seconds remaining before the Badgers will be back at full
strength here in the second period. Badgers have now scored
seven goals in the second period and an allowed two
so far on the year. Ronald the far side, Wisconsin
playing it up Ice, the Badgers two to zero in
the year, picking up a couple of wins up at

(01:11:24):
Bumigi State last weekend, moving it in, shot blocked in traffic,
Big series next weekend here at Lebon Minnesota. Duluth will
be here. They're talking about them being one of the
premier teams in the league. Along with Ohio State and
Minnesota controlling the puck and the neutral zone. Badger's still

(01:11:46):
shorthanded for the next twenty three seconds. They try to
lift it ahead at center ice, Maine back in their
own zone. Seventeen seconds remaining and the Badgers will be
back at full strength. Shots are twenty five to in
the game, and they dumped the buck and ice it
and that'll draw face off back in the zone of Wisconsin.

Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
Eleven more seconds to kill on this penalty here yet, how.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Paul, Badgers one may not be enough in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:12:16):
I tell you what, all at all could.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Be a low scoring game though, maybe like three to
two something like that.

Speaker 5 (01:12:22):
Yep, it's going to be a tight contest, I think.

Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Because of the goaltending. Latinon of Maine really made some
very nice saves in the first period, five to six
of them.

Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
Yeah, she got tested, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
And Harvey's back out on the ice. As the Badgers
scandal comes out. Harvey hustles over to the bench, both
teams full strength. Badgers try to hold it in. Back
down on the corners, back over to Scannal out on
top over the potter with a draw. Oh love save
by latinon.

Speaker 13 (01:12:59):
Nice rish By Potter from the right point. But again
Latin then sees the puck well through traffic and she
gloves it clean.

Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
What do you like about her as a goaltender?

Speaker 13 (01:13:09):
She always knows where the puck is and as a result,
and then she's got the physical ability. She always has
herself in position for the next shot. Pretty impressive.

Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Shapo vole at Boba in the base off circle trying
to win the draft for the Badgers. Man it's played
back down in the corner around on the far side
and Shapo, by the way, that's vole at Boba we're
talking about. She has been potentially picked as the top

(01:13:42):
prospect for Rookie of the Year in the WHA this
year they talk about the Badgers. Sims and Harvey were
picked on the first team potential Lelea, Edwards and McNaughton
didn't even make the first team. Really figure that one out, huh.
By the preseason polls, which means absolutely nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
You're correct, I agree with you there, But the two.

Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Hockey polls have the Badgers unanimously listed as the number
one team in the country. That's a USA Hockey and
US College Hockey Online picking the Badger's unanimous choice. Play
along the boards on the near side. Maine over on
the farest boards over to pick it up. Played back
down in the corner. We're nearing the halfway market a period.

(01:14:28):
There's a shot lock nicely done by Cassie Hall.

Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
Yeah, around the far side.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
It goes over to Kirsten Simms who plays it up
ice and All comes in over the line on the
far boards, pulls the trigger shot. Yell ripped it into
the upper corner of the next and Wisconsin lads, it's
two and nothing.

Speaker 13 (01:14:53):
Boy, what a shot, and it takes a great shot
to beat Lot and then no doubt about it, but
Hall well delivered on that one.

Speaker 5 (01:15:02):
Mister rocket up on the upper net.

Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
Nine for one the time of the goal in the
second period, their second consecutives five on five goal and.

Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
Just a great shot by Hall. The right hander ripped
it hard.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
And they may give a couple of assists. Sims gets one,
I believe for sure, and to moving it in there's
a shot went high and wide of the goal around
on the far side. We're nearing the halfway mark. Badger's
down in the corner over to try and pick it up.
Going around far on the far boards over the control
of his fetch. It's two to nothing, Wisconsin man. Twenty

(01:15:46):
seven shots up on the board so far and we're
not even not quite Yeah, now we're wow. There's a
check on Cassie Hall. Yeah, and a big check there.
The shot went high and wide of the.

Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
Goal or is that a card that went She went
on hard.

Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
And coming up ice controlling gain mains a physical team. Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:16:06):
Mark predicted that they would be He didn't say they'd
be dirty, but they'll be ready for some physical action.

Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
And we just saw some of it there.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Kirsten Sims picks up an assist on the goal, her
second of the year, and it's a two to nothing
lead for the Badgers. We're going to take a break.
This is Wisconsin Badger women's hockey.

They're up in Michigan eleven am.

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Yeah, eleven o'clock. Wow. And the Badger men's team's playing tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:18:45):
Yep, they're down at okay? Are they up? Good?

Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
Rating one to nothing over Lyndenwood nine to thirty. Remenning
in the period, coming up Ice controlling it comes back
in over the line, play down on the corner on
the left side, KK Harvey, we'll give it to Edwards.
Edwards with it slides it up Ice on them nearboards
and tried to hit Sims coming through.

Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
Nice pass.

Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
Sims pulls up at the right point, stick Handy with
the puck, goes between the dots, back out over to
Harvey with a shot right on man and the save
is made. So far we've got fifteen face sauce for
Maine ten shots on goal. We've got nineteen face offs
for the Badgers and twenty eight shots on goal.

Speaker 5 (01:19:34):
There's some good puck movement, dear Paul on the power play.

Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
Yeah, they are. The Badgers are a very effective and
great team passing the puck. Donnie Instro was talking about
that when I talked to her down by the locker
room before the game. She goes. She told their team
she said, you're gonna see elite players, and you will
see good examples of what elite players can do. That's

(01:19:58):
what she told. Part of it over to Sims, little
give and go back out on top Sims with a
drive and it's blocked and cleared out of the zone.
Coming all the way back KK Harvey just casually skating.
She's fun to watch when she gets it moving, You're
not kidding. She moves it through center ice, whips a

(01:20:21):
pass over in the right side over to Edwards who
fired it on the wing, but Maine will turn and
dump it back down to the Badger's zone. Eight minutes
and twenty seconds are minting Harvey and Edwards in the
check down on the corner trying to get the puck.
Eden coming over to help out and they try to
work it pass border Badgers come out of their own zone.

(01:20:42):
They leave it there for Harvey. Harvey on the break,
goes to Sims. Sims comes in over the line on
the far wing. She skates between the dots, stick handing
with a puck, goes all the way around down on
the corner on the right. Badger's moving around to set
it up back out on top over the jungles. It's
laid Edwards pulling it up between the circle, fired it

(01:21:04):
back and they go on the wing over the Sims.
Sims looking for the outlets. Back to Edwards, who drove
it high and wide. That cannon shot went high and wid.

Speaker 5 (01:21:14):
Yeah, I think somebody blocked it on the way in
to deflect it up an eye.

Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
A little pushing and shoving going on behind the net,
but nothing serious.

Speaker 13 (01:21:26):
We'll post whistle activity. The competitive juices are flowing out there.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Scandal out for the Badgers along with Ava Murphy out
on the ice. Gorbitanco is out haul is out. Venusio

(01:21:54):
pop check clear coming back in is Fetch Fetch moving
it Gorbitanco trying to top up, Betch back to the point.
There's a draw. Oh nice saves Ava with another save
two of them. One one popped loose, but she put
away the second in the glove and stopped the action.

Speaker 13 (01:22:11):
That was some that was being ready there. Man, there
were two good shots there, two good saves.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Down to seven twelve, reminting in the second period. Bill
Brofi will join us. During the second intermission, Grofe involved
with the WCHA always good to hear Brove played back
down in the corner around on the far side. Wisconsin
trying to bring it out of the zone. Badgers work

(01:22:38):
it up ice and controlled comes in over the line,
Abam Murphy with it, played it back down in behind.
Murphy tot up along the boards. Enwright tried to kick
it loose in front.

Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Oh good idea.

Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
They try to give the pass off to Halverson, but
it's turned away. Six forty eight, reminting Wisconsin at their
own blue line, trying to get control of the puck.
Polp check clear by Murphy on the play. It goes
to per Card looking for some help. Abe Murphy comes
back over trying to bring it out of the zone.
Maine with a three person four check and they forced

(01:23:14):
the Badgers at center ice Vanusi over to pick it up.
Bonusio turned and drove it wide of the goal six
point twenty three, remedting. In the period. Leylea Edwards with
it around over to Venusio with a shot right on.
On the rebound, it came in behind the net, Badgers
looking to control it. Venusio's drive was blocked and with

(01:23:34):
it Layla Edwards at the point on the right shuffles
it around over to Halverson behind the net. Gorbatanko comes
over to try and help out and the puck comes
back out over to center eyes Potter with it for Wisconsin.
Potter skates in over the line, comes in on the wing,
picks up her own pass off the boards, centered it.
Nobody home but black Bears and with it Wisconsin holding

(01:23:58):
it in. Here's Leila wrist shot and that was fired
down and tipped away from in front yep like fire
shooting five point thirty eight reminting in the second period
and back goes Potter of Wisconsin. Potter slides it out
of the brake coming in over the line, Haul with
it haul on the brake with a shot deflected away.

(01:24:19):
Badger's behind their own net, try to control it and
Cassie Hall goes back along with Scandal. Tutor nothing Wisconsin
in the second period with five fifteen remaining. I don't
know how that stayed out and Gorbatanco in front of
the slot was tied up, coming over to help out
with Scandal and Leylea Edwards at the point and Wisconsin

(01:24:41):
Gorbatanco down on the corner, off on the plate to
haul with a drive. That's block. Shots are twenty nine
to twelve in the game. Wisconsin controlling it and they
move it around, moving it in Haul with a drive
and it went wide and Wisconsin with a two to
up laid here all got our third goal of the year.

(01:25:02):
Earlier Leyla Edwards her second goal of the year, the
chant Let's go red crowd trying to bring it alive
a little bit. Wisconsin in the neutral zone over to
pick it up and skidding back goes Harvey. Harvey with
it ahead on the brake and over the line, controlling.

Speaker 25 (01:25:20):
Gets sims moving it in little given go oh not
behind wrap around shot bluff Shapov Leava had the wrap
around yep and controlling it, coming over to try and
pick it up.

Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
Maine comes back potential two on one. Badger's backchecking trying
to get into play. Oh ad, somebody back door opened
with the pass didn't connect. No back the other way.
Sims cuts in over the line, working through traffic. Three
point fifty two, remitting in the second period two to nothing.

(01:25:55):
Wisconsin here and the fuck around to the far side.
Badgers looked at Bryan pick it up in the neutral zone.
Control to get its played to the blulldine of Wisconsin.
Whether it is Harvey, Harvey with it. Harvey slides it
around that pass, interceptd moving it in shot block nice
diving out is McNaughton to make the safe. Well take

(01:26:16):
a thirty second break. This is Wisconsin Badgers Women's Hockey League.

Speaker 24 (01:26:21):
It's here.

Speaker 1 (01:26:22):

Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Back Jose but Murphy to set it up with the
hoards on the near side. Three minutes and four seconds
remitting in the period and coming in over the line.
That's McCarthy trying to work away from the check there
in the corner. Badgers try to skate it down as
McCarthy out with Peakin Hagen and coming back in over

(01:27:18):
the line of Wisconsin. They'll dump it along the boards.
Badgers turn and try to pick it up. Nusio with
it off on the play, coming up Ice controlling it
backhanded through center ice off the stick of Aber Murphy
and Pekin Hoggin tried to hold his zone. They turn
it back and in over the line as border. It's
going to be played back by Percard for card moving

(01:27:41):
up Ice with Halverson on her right for card moving
behind the net trailing was Murphy in front Oolverson with
a backhand or almost two sixteen remaining in the period
and it's still too nothing Wisconsin here and with it
here's Picard, nice move sit over the line, control of
the puck. Badgers they got in right around on the

(01:28:04):
right side controlling it. There's a shot in traffic. Oh boy,
block Badger's control back to the point. On the play
over the layley edwards around on the pass there's Or
trying to pick it up on the boards controlling it.
Banged around the boards by per Card and it comes
all the way out of the zone. With one forty
four remaining. Potter goes back up it to pick it up.

(01:28:26):
Potter looking to come out of the zone and on
the play ahead Badgers had it taken away off their
stick down in the corner on the far side. They
try to move it back door, moving it in shot
Obo reflected high and wide by Fetch back to the
point on the near side over the sunbeam played it
in the corner one a minute twenty seconds remitting in

(01:28:48):
the period back in behind the net worm with it
around the boards on the far side. Then it's going
to be played back down in the corner. We have
one aweight remedting in the periods with two in the
second Leayley Edwards got her second of the year, Cassie
Hall got her third of the year, and whistle and
play stop with about a minute left in the second period.

Speaker 13 (01:29:14):
Man, there's some action going on here. Yeah, there really
is a lot of good puck movement by both teams.
Good sieves by both goaltenders at each end.

Speaker 2 (01:29:24):
Face off, coming up at center ice in this tuning
up in game shots thirty two to fourteen and coming over,
Harvey with it. Harvey controlling the puck in front of
the main bench on the lead pass to Gorbatanko, who
turns and played it in over the line, tipped down
in the right wing corner, waffed the stick of Cassie
Hall on the back wall. The Badgers try to control

(01:29:48):
it and they play it up the boards, but Maine
comes out of the zone with a puck. They move
it in over the line, Russinsky with it. Rusinski pulls up,
comes back over. There's a shot tipped in front by Sandlin,
deflected yep, and it's going to be played back down
in behind the net of Wisconsin. Twenty two seconds. Remitic

(01:30:09):
in the period jungles around on the far side over
to Gorbitanco and we'll have an icing called against the Badgers.
Your thoughts on the second period here.

Speaker 13 (01:30:18):
Well, there's some good puck movement, that's for sure. We've
created some chances. That was a scary one there. They
had a player redirect one but it went wide. But yeah,
some good backchecking going on when they do get opportunities.

Speaker 5 (01:30:31):
We're coming back. Our forwards are I.

Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
Like that based off and it goes behind the net
ten seconds remedic in the period and coming up ice
controlling it. Badgers will go back in their own zone.
They're going to go to the locker room with a
two or uping lead. Here at the end of two
periods of play, Wisconsin with thirty two shots on goal
fourteen for the clock bearers of Maine, and we'll be

(01:30:58):
back with our intermission after this time out. This is
Wisconsin Badgers women's hockey on ten seventy the game. Badger's
with it. They come back over to Edwards. Here's Edwards
moving it in. Shut it up for the Wisconsin bat

(01:31:22):
there and Wisconsin lads it round the far sign. It
goes over to Kirsten Sims who plays it up ice
and Paul comes in over the line on the bar boards,
pulls the triggers shot, rip it into the upper corner
of the net and Wisconsin lates it two and nothing. OK,

(01:31:45):
check clear coming back in is betch betch moving it?
Gorba Tanco trying to tie up match back to the
point there's a draw. Nice saved Ava with another say
two of them one good, one PLoP loose. But she
put away the second end of glove and shop the
action that was some that.

Speaker 5 (01:32:04):
Was being ready there, man, there were two good shots there.

Speaker 6 (01:32:07):
No doubt Greenee, they were ready. And this game after
two periods Badger's two main zero. Two goals came in
the second period, Edwards with her the first goal, and
Haul with the second. So it's not as though this
game is lopsided in any means. The as you just heard,

(01:32:29):
Abban McNaughton has been put to work. She's had a
couple of great saves in this period, almost like this
game is still zero zero. So here we are at
the end of two periods Badger's two main zero. This
intermission report is sponsored by Fields Madison, your premier luxury

We're back in Lebon Arena and we're after JW. Beriod's
a player that we're leading to Black Bearers of Maine
two or nothing and joining me is Bill Brophy who's
been around college hockey for how many years broke forty
plus or what.

Speaker 5 (01:35:15):
Yeah, we're a couple of guys here, Yeah we are.

Speaker 2 (01:35:19):
I remember you way back at Duluth. Wow, that's I
started to.

Speaker 27 (01:35:24):
Lose in seventy three and I've been covering the league
since seventy five, so we go way back. It's been
a lot of fun, and we've seen a lot of
great hockey players in some great moments.

Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
And I'll tell you what, let's talk about some good teams.
You mentioned it last year, Bill, early in the season
up here in Lebon you said that team, meaning the
Badgers potentially could run the table.

Speaker 28 (01:35:45):
Well, they came awfully close. It was a very talented team,
and I think it was Mark's best team. I mean,
he's never going to compare teams, but they were awfully good.
And yeah, it was a fun team to I mean,
I hope people realize how lucky already get the opportunity
to watch Carolyn Harvey play.

Speaker 27 (01:36:02):
I mean, she's really one of the best skaters you're
ever going to see, and men's are the women's game.
She just does everything perfectly, and she controls the women's game,
to be sure, but she's a delight to watch and
certainly a spectacular player. And I think Edward's is going
to be become a household name in this country in
February when the Olympics are on TV every night.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 27 (01:36:24):
Layla's a dominant player. I mean Eaton's a world class player.
So you've got three really talented players on this Badger
team right now, and as long as they're going to
be around, they're going to be in the chase for
another national chance.

Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
And you'll be other Badgers on other teams too. Right,
we got Sims who could be playing.

Speaker 27 (01:36:43):
Well, I don't think Sims from what I'm told, I
don't think Sims is gonna make the Olympic team. Well,
I don't mean to throw cold water on her chances
because they're they're going to gather and blame this week
and uh, you know, and then they're not going to
announce the team until early January. But I again, he's
got a chance. And who might have sit here and
say she doesn't. But I think Eden and Harvey and

(01:37:04):
Edwards in mcnonton probably is going to be the third goaltender.
But anyway, my point is you want to see some
of the best players in the world. You got a
chance to do so if you can get a ticket
to Levon, because that's tough to do these days.

Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
Yeah, it really is. And you mentioned the name that
sometimes I just don't think people appreciate what Mark Johnson
has done. Six hundred and sixty nine wins, is the
all time winningest coach on this campus. He's won eight
national championships. Isn't that crazy? It is? And you and

(01:37:35):
I remember won an elite college hockey player.

Speaker 27 (01:37:38):
Yeah, scored forty goals as freshman year and back a
long time ago in seventy eight or seventy seven to
seventy eight. But yeah, I mean at every level he's
he's been a real figure in the sport. Anyone playing
twelve years in the National Hockey League, made the All
Star team one year, So I mean, whatever he's done,
he's excelled at. And you know, well, Tony Granada said

(01:37:58):
it to me the year they return Mark Jersey that
they got to consider a statue to Mark outside of
lebon And I thought he was kidding, but ever but
he wasn't, And ever since then, I can't get that
out of my head. I mean, the local kid, it's
not a Badger Bob. Again, he's the all time winning
is coaching women's college hockey. Maybe that Marco standalone tact,
that depending on how all he wants to coach, But no,

(01:38:21):
he's he's the best there is at this sport. And
he's such a humble, gracious, elite superstar.

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
I don't think he'd like that statue, do you No?

Speaker 27 (01:38:29):
But I mean I think it's I think it's deserving. Frankly, yeah,
I mean, you know, it's easy again to sit here
and not have to raise the money to do it.
But I think it's such a great story. Local kid,
the son of the guy who's you know, whose name
appears in a great Day for hockey banners all.

Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
Over North America.

Speaker 27 (01:38:47):
And again it's been a real credit for the sport
at every level, whether he's been a player or a coach,
and and he certainly is excelled here and Bill.

Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Enough talk about last year's championship day obviously put up
the banner here and at lebon to. I what do
you think of this current Badger women's team.

Speaker 27 (01:39:03):
Well, it's gonna be such a funky year, but they're
so good. And then the fact that players are gonna
be coming and going for the Olympics. I mean, it's
gonna be an unconventional year. I mean again, you know,
they had a jackie the schedule around for next weekend
to allow players to play, because again Harvey and Eden
and Sims and Edwards and McNaught and are all going

(01:39:24):
to be in playing trying out for the Olympic team.
That's just the first time they'll leave. They'll leave again
in November, they'll leave again in January for good. So
again it's gonna test their depth.

Speaker 12 (01:39:36):
But I think they have it.

Speaker 27 (01:39:37):
I think Scannal will take a step up and become
a big time player in this league. Cassie Halls and
Glorbatanco are good players, so they have the depth to
fill in. But it's tough to forecast what's gonna happen.
I mean, Dalute's gonna lose two players. Gasco it's the goaltender.
She's gonna play in the Olympics. Caitln Kramer's got a
chance to make Canada. She's another good player for dalut

(01:39:59):
Ohio State. It's gonna lose players, and UH and Minnesota
lose Abbey Murphy. So how those teams can make up
for the loss and really their stars means it's tough
to forecasts what the league's gonna be like, but I
think it's safe to say Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio State will
probably three of the four teams in the Twin Cities
next March when they play the final faceoff.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
And the final face off will be in a brand
new building on the campus of Saint Thomas, not Ritter
Arena where the Gophers, and that building's not quite condone,
but I understand it's gonna be an impressive place when
it's dunk.

Speaker 27 (01:40:33):
Yeah, as a proud of them, And no, I have
not contributed to the building with you to.

Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
Say, are you the big bucks behind them?

Speaker 27 (01:40:39):
No, I think some gentleman named Anderson couldttribute it close
to seventy five million from bout a year. But anyway,
it's supposed to be a spectActor dual purpose facility. The
basketball team is gonna play there as well as a
two there's two sheets of hockey, and yeah, you'll get
a chance to see it both when the Badgers play
there later in the season, and then it'd be a
really nice home for the for the tournament come March.

Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
But yeah, and they got a former Wisconsin guy running
that building up there.

Speaker 27 (01:41:04):
Right, Tom Nelson, who ye who ran the Coal Center
and this building for a number of years, is now
in charge up there, and.

Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
It's gonna be interesting. And you mentioned Dluth, the Ohio State, Wisconsin, Minnesota,
Duluth maybe is a four times Oh well, yeah, Kalou,
I think may surprise a lot of people. If you
talk to the coaches, they think they're going to be
better than what people think.

Speaker 27 (01:41:26):
Well, yeah, and they got the goaltender gas Gullwan's you know,
she was All Leaguer, All American around here, and you
think mcgonnont was the best goaltender in colle hockey last year.
And gas gun got the vote of the coaches, so
she's back again. She'll go to the Olympics, so she'll
miss three weeks.

Speaker 5 (01:41:42):
Keylan Klamer.

Speaker 27 (01:41:42):
Kramer's a really nice player, and they got more depth
than Laura Schulers a good coach. I mean, she's been
around a long time coach the Canadian Olympic team at
one time. So I agree with you. I mean, I
think those are the four that'll be there. Muzzy, you know,
is gonna have Ohio State there. They'd beat Colgate today
Colgate's one of the better teams out east, and the
Gophers their dog going good. I mean, they beat Boston

(01:42:04):
College eleven nothing in seven to one last week and
at home they went out to Boston to beat BU
five nothing today. So how impressive are they? And again
an Ambi Murphy and City Moral, they got two of
the better players in the league, and they got a
lot of transfers. So I think the Gophers, if they slipped,
they're certainly back.

Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
Bill And you look at the WCCHA and you're involved
with it and that kind of thing, if you would
think every other league in women's college hockey's getting a
little tirle, a little tired of all of the championships
because every year it seems like somebody is in there.

Speaker 27 (01:42:38):
Well, yeah, only Clarkson from outside the WCCHA has ever
won a national champions that got something. Yeah, And this
is the twenty seventh year and there's only been three
years when the WCHA didn't win. So there's no question
it's the best league in college hockey. And when you
go to that postseason tournament, you see the best team.
I mean they get dimmied up by the NCAA pairings

(01:42:59):
and the next couple of weeks after the final faceoff.
But they're the best. They got the best coaches, they
got the best players, and they got the most trophies
to back it up claim that they're the best conference.

Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
What would concern you for the sake of women's hockey?
What do you see in the your crystal ball looking ahead?

Speaker 27 (01:43:21):
Yeah, there's so much uncertainty. It's kind of silly to say,
you know, I mean I do fear for Olympic sports
in general about funding for them in this day of
nil and can programs continue to exist? And certainly in
this league when you got the three Big ten powers
and then the other five or Division two schools, are

(01:43:42):
they going to be able to compete? And And to
your point what you're saying, it's usually those teams in
the final face off. I kind of fear that you've
got a Tier one and a Tier two. I mean,
you got Dluth competing to be the fourth team with
the three Big ten schools, and then you've got the others.
But con Saint Cloud, who's in trouble financially at the

(01:44:05):
institution itself. The Midgie again is a smaller school man.
Cato's a bigger school and successful with the D two
level on every other sport. But they can they well,
they get the resources to compete as we go forward
in this nil era and it's real tough to really
predict rus stopping me. Maybe it's always nice to see it.
Congratulations again. The championship ring, that's nice in your figure.

Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
Man, No that's too big. I'll tell you.

Speaker 27 (01:44:30):
Yeah, you agree to You're gonna need security guards to
get out of here without puting those rings at your fingure.

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
We'll be back. This is Badger Women's hockey on ten
seventy of the game.

Speaker 6 (01:44:41):
Thanks Paul. Great interview with Bill Brophy. Always good to
hear from him and his insights on the college hockey game,
where it stands today and where it once was. Quick
recap of the stats as we lean in towards the
third period. Badger's lead shots on goal almost twice as
many as Main thirty two to fourteen. In terms of
power plays, both teams are over on the power play

(01:45:02):
Maine for one, Wisconsin for two. Face offs one, the
Badgers have the slight edge at twenty two to nineteen.
And the stat that really sticks out to me as
we get prepared for this third period is block shots.

back in the main zone, out in front back on
my boy, oh man, second goal of the year. What
a beautiful goal going to the backhander and was catching
out in front three or nothing? Boy, She just.

Speaker 5 (01:47:36):
Outweighed latin In on that one.

Speaker 13 (01:47:38):
And then that back hole backhander right to the five
hole for a great goal by Schapo. Man oh man
Mark said, let's go get one within the first five
or six minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
So I muscle.

Speaker 5 (01:47:48):
They took it to heart and they're getting after it here.

Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Boy, what a move by Chapo on that goal.

Speaker 5 (01:47:54):
You're not kidding. That was beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
And the face off and the drag goes back down
to the main zone and whistle and action's gotta be stopped.

Speaker 5 (01:48:03):
Just a great piece of stick work thereby.

Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
Shappele Eden and Sims get assists on the goal, for
Sims her third of the year second tonight, and for
Lacey Eden on the season that is assists number three.
So the Badgers with a three to nothing laid here

(01:48:25):
and they'll set it up. Wisconsin comes in over the
line with it, dumps it back down in the corner.

Speaker 5 (01:48:30):
Of the zone. Good pressure down load.

Speaker 2 (01:48:34):
She almost nailed me at practice the other day. Puck
went right over my head. I felt it go by.

Speaker 5 (01:48:42):
Oh yeah, I felt it go by right close for comfort, Paul,
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
Lacy said it scared the hell out of a man.
She saw it coming out.

Speaker 5 (01:48:50):
She can fire the puck, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
Eighteen fifty six remaining.

Speaker 5 (01:48:56):
Start wearing a helmet to practice the whole season.

Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
I felt it over the top of my head.

Speaker 5 (01:49:02):
Oh that would have oh oh gives me shivers thinking
about it.

Speaker 2 (01:49:08):
Face off coming up to the left side, back in
the main zone and it's tipped in right out in
front by Scandal. It's got four goals already this year
and Gorbatanco. Yeah, there's two, Nelly, she doesn't back down
to anybody.

Speaker 13 (01:49:21):
No, no, there's like two basically six footers right there
at the doorstep on the goal.

Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
And we'll have the face off coming up. So we
have tonight edwards with her second goal of the year,
third per haul and the second goal of the year
by Chapoy her chapel, Yeah yeah, and in front the
Scannel making the save against.

Speaker 12 (01:49:47):
Her band.

Speaker 13 (01:49:50):
Garbel gave her a great pass from below the goal
line up almost at the end wall, and she was
right there to bang it home, but letting and makes
the save.

Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Maggie Scandal looks like she's got a whole nother step
this year.

Speaker 13 (01:50:04):
Yeah, she's played up, yeah, yeah, getting she's gaining competence,
you know, she just she can do some good things,
and she's gaining.

Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
Confidence around on the far side over to try and
control it. In front of the Badger bench. Wisconsin turns
back in over the line, they come, dumping it down
in the corner. Go over, tank, go over to try
and control it centered, but it's cleared from in front
of that main two on two in over the Wisconsin line.
They dump it down in the corner. Worm trying to

(01:50:35):
chase it down, play it along the boards near a
wing coming up ice, and it's gonna be Wisconsin's Gorba
tankle back handing it down to the corner. Eighteen minutes
and ten seconds for Manning in the third period and
setting it up on the play is Podewell the center
on the number one line. Badger's move it in shot

(01:50:56):
kick save there man and moving it up ice. Boy,
the Badgers have had a lot of good scoring opportunities tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:51:04):
Yeah, we have. We're creating some good chances.

Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Seventeen fifty remening here and the puck in the neutral
zone coming back in over the line, and there's a
drive and it's going to be blocked down in the
corner on the far side, moving it around, turning, trying
to come out of the zone, working it up through
center ice. It's going to be driven back down in
the corner and going back over to set it up,

(01:51:27):
and we're down to seventeen twenty seven. Are remenning in
the third period Game two tomorrow at two o'clock here
at Lebon and skating back over to set it up,
and we'll have an icing called against Maine.

Speaker 13 (01:51:42):
You know, Paul, you mentioned are commented on a number
of high percented shots we've got on net today, and
I think with any other goaltender in net the score
would be much different.

Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
I do too, I really do.

Speaker 5 (01:51:53):
She's really a rock solid goaltender. I'm very impressed with.

Speaker 2 (01:51:56):
Her face off coming up to the left side of
latinen or right side, pardon me. In the face off circle,
it's chapeau volea boba and the drop picked up and controlled,
moving it up ice, coming out of the zone with
it as Rusinski, and they lead it to neutral ice,

(01:52:19):
turning and trying to play it ahead on the pass.
That's Podewell Bodwell with it around down in the corner,
trying to work it away as Jungles, and Jungles is
so steady you.

Speaker 5 (01:52:32):
Never makes a mistake, no smooth player.

Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
And coming back in Wisconsin on the wrap around, they
go on the wing and the centering pass comes out
of the zone back over to try and set it
up with it as Harvey. Harvey on the wing on
the near side, coming in over the line and they
give it off on the pass over to Edon try
the little given goal down in the corner, chasing it down.

(01:52:57):
Wisconsin trying to hold the zone, but it's going to
be turned away by Maine. Comes back into the line
on the right side with it is fetch back in
behind sixteen twenty remaining in the third period, Wisconsin working
it up ice they control it. They come in over
the line and jungles with it on the wing near
boards over to try and control it. Badger's back and

(01:53:19):
with it. McCarthy gives it off over the Potter. Potter
will work up ice on the near wing, fires it
on the break, puts it on the stick of Scandal,
moving it in trying to get herself free in the slot.
Show up by Potter, block rebound Gorbatanco when it swept
to the wing on the near side and Potter with

(01:53:40):
it down in the corner, trying to work it loose
on the play. McCarthy with it comes off the boards
with a puck little give and gold gorbatankle behind the
death trying to skate it down. Badger's out, Scandal, Potter
and McCarthy and Wisconsin in the corner. It's Scandal controlling
it back. Then it comes around over the Potter at

(01:54:01):
the point they work it around over the Gorbatanko back
over the scandal with a backhander I and wide of
the goal Leyla Edwards holds it in, comes back around
over the Potter at the point it's gonna be took
out of the zone and played ahead. Worm took it away.
Badger's regrouped, though they come back in over the line.

(01:54:22):
McCarthy with it. She played it through the scale there
of borders, tried to pick it up in front of
the Badger bench. Wisconsin with it in the neutral zone,
comes back over the wave of Murphy. Wisconsin in their
own zone, back behind the pass and coming up Ice
is Aba Murphy who got it from Edwards around the

(01:54:43):
port and it comes back to the point on the
play and they drive it toward the NAT fourteen thirty six,
remitting in the third period for around on the far side.
Wisconsin over trying to control it down in the corner
along the boards, over to try and set it up.
Pekin Hoggen with it Pek and Hoggen plays it around

(01:55:05):
in the play over to Sappi back just inside the line.
Badger's with a shot. Why in turn, Picard turned and
drove it to the nap and Pericard with it back
out on top and there's Aba Murphy with a drive.
Badgers go behind the nap, Percard with it, per Card
controlling the part. There's Picard just inside the line on

(01:55:29):
the play. The nou coo high and wide of the
goal come in and she got all of that one.
She drove it off the glass. President go through the
end wall, coming back over to set it up. We're
down to thirteen forty six for Menegan the period. Badgers
lead it three to nothing in the third period. They
scored two in the second and one here seventeen seconds

(01:55:50):
into the third and Wisconsin's Aba McNaughton flips it around
on the far side over trying to control it. Wisconsin
looking to bring it out of their own zone. They'll
cup of ice on the break. Harvey gets it through,
but an offside it's going to be called wow.

Speaker 5 (01:56:08):
Eden was going to the net hard there too bad
it was whistled off sides. They're gonna face it off
here in the neutral.

Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
Zone thirty eight to sixteen and shots on gold in
the game so far, face offs Maine with twenty two
one in the Badgers with twenty six to one based
off just outside the blue line. Fetch of Maine trying
to win the draw comes back to the blue line

(01:56:37):
and with it was Curl Curl with it, played it
back down in. We're talking about Brenda Curl.

Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
Yeah, bree is.

Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
The sister of Britta Curl, who will be here tomorrow night.
We understand.

Speaker 13 (01:56:50):
Oh, Britta is great. She's got a nice pro career
going on. She did a heck of a job for us,
and just a talented young lady. You ever heard her sing,
Paul No, Oh, she can write her own songs and
then sing them and they're just beautiful.

Speaker 5 (01:57:04):
Really Yeah, like you did.

Speaker 13 (01:57:06):
Yeah, you'd think she was on the like America's got
talent or something. Yeah, she's really good.

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
Well, we're gonna try and get her on the air
tomorrow night, yall to get in maybe if she can
sing a song. There you go off the pipe that yeah,
fired it back out on top.

Speaker 5 (01:57:22):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
Wow, her first show into the net and the Badgers
laid it forward and nothing.

Speaker 13 (01:57:34):
Just a great goal by Jungles from the hard wrister
beats Latin and up high for her fourth goal of
the night.

Speaker 2 (01:57:42):
Here and.

Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
Great goal by Vivian Jungles, heck of a shot from
the point Man oh Man.

Speaker 2 (01:57:54):
Seven, Wisconsin with the lead now of four goals up
on the and there's a drive and it's going to
be blocked. Twelve minutes forty two seconds remaining, and well,
the goal was scored by Vivian Jungles, with an assist
going to Lacy. Eaton gets another one, her second of

(01:58:23):
the night, her fourth of the year, and shapovole Bova
picked up and assist as well.

Speaker 13 (01:58:33):
Yeah, you know, Eden never stops moving her feet, so
she's gonna get to the puck or get it to somebody.

Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
So we have a ford to nothing lead. The Badger's
out in front. Four different players have scored goals tonight,
and that one was a nice effort on the part
of Vivian Jungle, Yes it was. And Wisconsin setting get
up going back in behind the net twelve oh five

(01:59:03):
or many in the period. If you get a chance, folks,
and you have not seen a Badger women's hockey game.
Get into yourself a favor. If you are a hockey fan,
come and watch them play. You won't believe how good
they are and how talented they are, how quick they

(01:59:25):
are around, how they passed the puck. It's absolutely incredible.
And covering up in front of the net. Next weekend,
by the way, would be a good week and may
be sold out. I don't know. Because Minnesota Duluton there
is a very good team and goaltending is their strength

(01:59:47):
in a way. As Brokie said when we talk to
him between periods, they had the All American Garzonia.

Speaker 5 (01:59:55):
I think Garzona is her name, a Canadian gal. She's
she's really good.

Speaker 2 (02:00:00):
Yep twenty nine remaining in the period forty to twenty
two to one in shots. Again in the game, the
Badgers played backer than that around on the far side.
It's over to Vivian Jungles. Jungles with it. I'm over
to McCarthy. McCarthy with the puck, comes back out of
the zone, controlling it with eleven zho seven remenning in

(02:00:22):
the period Badger's period through center right comes around and
with it on the play is McCarthy back to the
point of the pass over to Venusio shot tip off
the stick of Pigan Hoggen.

Speaker 13 (02:00:36):
You know, Paul, it's nice to see McCarthy out here.
She can play with different people and she usually does
some good things with the puck. It's nice to see
her out here. She's gonna take the face off here.

Speaker 2 (02:00:47):
She's from Whitefish, Montana. Yeah, we got players on this
team from Montana from cheching him.

Speaker 5 (02:00:55):
We're covering the whole globe here.

Speaker 17 (02:01:00):
Already.

Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Six are many in the third period. Four nothing badgers
around on the far side. Wisconsin back yep. Chapo is
the first player from Europe. Yeah, to be on the program,
unlike a lot of these other programs. Yeah, we usually
don't go out of the continent, you know. For players

(02:01:22):
we're talking about Chapo, Boulet, Boban comings back in over
the line control to get here is Aba Murphy with
a drive and she's a pretty good player. Chapeo is Yeah.

Speaker 13 (02:01:37):
I'd say not that big though, No, but she doesn't
play more no, no way, and that's in heels. I
think she's really never tall. Yeah, I think she's padding
the tab on her height in the program.

Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
And it comes around on the far side over to
pick it up and control. Going back. This is Jacob
over to try and set it up. Jacob is out
with a border and bodwell and the play in the
neutral zone over to try and control it, and Maine
tipping it toward the Badger goal off the stick of
Jacob for under ten minutes remaining in the third period.

(02:02:13):
Four up on the board, not in the first, two
in the second, so far two in the third and
controlling it. They come to center ice on the play,
fucking the neutral zone over to try and pick it up,
and it's going to be back handed out towards center
ice in front of the Badger bench. Around on the

(02:02:35):
far side. Wisconsin turns and back they come. Scannal come
over the line over the Sims. Sims shot and that's
deflected away around the boards on the near side, coming
over to try and pick it up. There's Jungles with
a drive played down in the corner on the near side.
Back over to try and control it. Back to Scandal.

(02:02:56):
Scandal out in front with Sims and chapeau Vaux label
and coming back over controlling it coming through center rise
and there's a drive in its block. Badger's nice job,
wo there man rebound fired by Stevenson, Wisconsin, trying to
clear it from in front of their own net.

Speaker 5 (02:03:16):
That was a good block and a good defensive job.
Is that Bickett?

Speaker 2 (02:03:19):
Yeah, that's Bickett and coming back in over the line.
She's the extra player.

Speaker 5 (02:03:23):
Yeah, she played it well.

Speaker 2 (02:03:25):

Speaker 5 (02:05:38):
That's true, and he's rare to me.

Speaker 2 (02:05:41):
Is gonna shine in the Olympics. Oh yeah, around on
the far side, over to control it seven minutes and
nineteen seconds or made look at that and moving it
in Gorgia tankle with the shot went high and why.

Speaker 5 (02:05:53):
Go to keep it in the building near gorble what
And there's.

Speaker 2 (02:05:56):
Another drive and lay down on the corner on the
near side and back at the point it's Harvey with
a shot covering up in the save is made. If
you didn't know who we're talking about when we talk
about KK Harvey, and you didn't know her number, and
you came and you sat in the crowd, you might

(02:06:17):
even pick it up in warm ups, but once the
game started, after about five minutes, you would look and go, oh, yeah,
that must be hern over there.

Speaker 5 (02:06:25):
Yeah, he's different.

Speaker 2 (02:06:28):
Around over to Eton eating with a drive played back
down in the corner. We have six fifty four remitting
in the period trying to control it. But she's not
the only one on this team that's pretty talented.

Speaker 5 (02:06:41):
No, there's there's a lot of gals that can play
the game.

Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
Man. Yeah, a lot of skill and coming back over
to try and control it, coming back on the play
Wisconsin with a ford to nothing lead forty four shots
to twenty one in the game, Molly Inkstrom said, we
looked at this series as a learning experience and show

(02:07:04):
you what a good solid effort and playing to the
best of your ability. You will see how talented players
can perform.

Speaker 5 (02:07:15):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 13 (02:07:16):
She's brought this program already quite a ways from when
she first arrived. And I can see that in their
team's play, their goaltender being rock solid.

Speaker 5 (02:07:24):
That's only a sophomore.

Speaker 8 (02:07:26):
You know.

Speaker 13 (02:07:27):
They don't make mistakes, they don't do foolish things with
a puck, and they position themselves well.

Speaker 5 (02:07:32):
They don't give you much of the ice.

Speaker 2 (02:07:35):
And another face off coming up back in the zone
of Wisconsin. She was an All American. She was here
in the early stages. Yeah, back in two thousand and
one through two thousand and five, was an All American.
Her senior year assistant coach with Mark an assistant coach
at Saint Cloud. Got an opportunity to coach. Yep, that

(02:07:58):
loves it. Man moving it in. Here's Leila pulling the trigger.
Should hey, I've gotten her second door of the game
and Wisconsin. Lad's at five to nothing.

Speaker 13 (02:08:16):
You know, Edwards just kept going to the net, just
kept going to the net with it and pushed it
through there. And she's deceptively strong and it got through there,
through the traffic and passed the goaltender right on the
ice five hole for another goal by Laylah Edwards tonight.

Speaker 5 (02:08:35):
That's a couple of them for her man.

Speaker 2 (02:08:39):
Her card and Sims get assists on there. That's Sims's
third assist of the night, in her fourth of the year,
and going over to set it up and controlling it,
coming up ice with it. KK Harvey comes in over
the line, there's a drive and the save is made.
We'll take a break. This iss Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey.

are up by a score of five to nothing here
in the third period over the Black Bears of Maine.
Both teams will be playing back here at Lebon tomorrow
afternoon at two o'clock. Man, it's the Badgers with a
win here. Of course, they'd be starting the year with

(02:09:59):
a record three and zero and setting it up van
Maine would fall to h and three five minutes remaining
in the period and going back Wisconsin trying to go
back to their own blue line to cover in. Ava
McNaughton makes Abon holds on to stop the mean is
going to be finding some victories, Paul, Yep.

Speaker 5 (02:10:20):
They're just doing too many things correctly to not end
up in wins. At some point.

Speaker 2 (02:10:27):
Just under five minutes remitting, also scoring was Cassie Hall
or third of the year, so got two goals for
the Badgers and it was a two to three and
here in the third period, the Badgers have put up
three goals, all goals five on five as a chap
Per second goal of the year with the assist going

(02:10:48):
to Eden or third Sims into the night, third of
the year, and then Vivian Jungles scored her first goal
of the year for the Badgers. Eden got another assist,
second of the night, fourth of the year, and Chepe
bob a Boba picked up an assist on the goal,
her second of the year. And now Leila Edwards with

(02:11:10):
her second, fanning on the drive there as per Card
got an assist. Sim's got her third assist of the
night and her fourth of the year. That's the scoring
so far here tonight. Badger's up five to nothing. Now
with four minutes remitting in the third period of player,
it's gonna be dumped back down in the corner and

(02:11:32):
we'll have a nic icing yep.

Speaker 5 (02:11:37):
Well, this scheme's clipping along here. With only four minutes
to go.

Speaker 2 (02:11:41):
Face offs both teams have won thirty one face off
Badger's got forty six shots on goal twenty four for
Maine and the face off coming back and control to
get in the neutral zone.

Speaker 5 (02:12:00):
With it.

Speaker 2 (02:12:00):
Vivian Jungles on the play ahead, Sim's little given go
shot by n right cleared to the wing on the airboards.
Three forty five aremitting in the period and puck loose.
As the Badgers go back, Vivian jungles around on the
far side over trying to control it as Wisconsin trying

(02:12:23):
to pick it up and with it and right in
the slot. Sim's there around the boards on the far side,
played back down in the corner, Wisconsin trying to hold
his zone with three minutes and twenty seconds remitting.

Speaker 13 (02:12:37):
By one of the main players, and Sims thought she'd
come by and straighten it out here.

Speaker 2 (02:12:43):
Both Number twenty six is taking a jab at one
another sun be taking a jab against Shap. Yeah, she
didn't back down either.

Speaker 5 (02:12:53):
No, she is not timid at all, which I'm impressed
with her grit.

Speaker 2 (02:12:59):
Coming along the boards on the far side. Can you
imagine coming to a new country in college, Yeah, playing hockey,
moving it in shot by peaking Hogen. She's another freshman
for the Badgers out of Ontario. There's a drive by
per card. But what an adjustment for you, lad?

Speaker 6 (02:13:18):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (02:13:19):
I know it laid back down to the corner on
the far side, two point fifty remitting in the period
and Wisconsin coming up ice controlling it through neutral zone
and over the line, peking Hogen off in the play.
Picard with a backhander back in behind Wisconsin trying to
hold it along the back wall in the main zone.

(02:13:39):
Whistle and action's going to be stopped.

Speaker 5 (02:13:44):
Yeah, the goalie didn't never glove on here. I don't
know what she.

Speaker 2 (02:13:48):
Yeah, well, last week one of us mentioned if something
may happen.

Speaker 24 (02:13:57):
With that.

Speaker 2 (02:13:58):
Did happen if we didn't jinx it?

Speaker 21 (02:14:01):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:14:02):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (02:14:02):
Yeah, me going now? Yeah, yeah, I don't just stop
that kind of talk.

Speaker 2 (02:14:07):
With that Soups mentioning something yep coming up ice controlling.

Speaker 5 (02:14:12):
Just leave that alone.

Speaker 2 (02:14:14):
I got you with fire yet a little bit.

Speaker 5 (02:14:17):
Yep, you know how to get me.

Speaker 2 (02:14:20):
But we haven't talked with draw moving it up ice
control to get Badgers in the neutral zone. Harvey collides
with Eden. Yeah, you're supposed to check the other player,
not your own.

Speaker 5 (02:14:31):
Color blind that's going on there. I think I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (02:14:35):
If I'm nothing and controlling it hers Venusio on a
solo rush from one side of the rink to the
other down in the corner on the past to Halverson
and it's moved out over the center ride remaining And
if this event happens, it would be the second straight

(02:14:55):
week that it happened, and the second straight game that
had happened. Controlling the fuck keeps moving it. Then her
eyes played backer over to dry and control it here.
Sim she really cram up that way.

Speaker 5 (02:15:07):
Yeah, she's on her off wing near as from the
right point, and.

Speaker 2 (02:15:10):
She's coming in on the right side this time. She's strong.

Speaker 5 (02:15:14):
Yeah, she has hard. She's a lot stronger this year
than she was last year.

Speaker 2 (02:15:17):
Hard to get the puck away from her.

Speaker 5 (02:15:19):
Paul does a good job working on the strength and
conditioning with these young ladies.

Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
With it on the wing, Badgers look to hold it in.
Buck is loose forty five seconds, Rymantagers lead it in
the game by a score of five to nothing, and
there's a drive into the glove of Ava McNaughton. Make
the save.

Speaker 5 (02:15:39):
Yeah, thirty eight seconds to go. At thirty eight and a.

Speaker 2 (02:15:43):
Half, Ava has appeared in sixty seven games for the Badgers.
She is fifty eight to four and two coming into
this game. She has a saved percentage of better than
ninety four percent. Her goals against averages one point three
to zero. Man coming in, here's the potential two on

(02:16:04):
one moving it in shot block, rebound, peaking Hogen right
there but couldn't lift it.

Speaker 13 (02:16:12):
I thought peking Hogen was going to get a goal
on that rebound there off the pad of Latin and
oh Man, nice play. Haul came to the net driving
down the right wing with a lot of speed, got
an initial shot off I thought, peaking hogging and bang.

Speaker 5 (02:16:28):
Home a rebound not to be.

Speaker 2 (02:16:36):
Face off coming up. Been a very clean game.

Speaker 5 (02:16:39):
Not a lot of three penalties in total, I believe.

Speaker 2 (02:16:44):
And Chapo in the face off circle for the Badgers,
and Chapo tries to win the draft down to twenty
seconds for Manning laid back down to the corner over
to try and control it. Badgers look to try and
hold it in play along the boards around on the

(02:17:07):
far side. And that number we were talking about there
it is another shutout Ava McNaught and her fifteenth shutout
of her career. I love it. Second consecutive game. Pitch
the shutout.

Speaker 13 (02:17:26):
Boy, you had to start teasing me. You had to
start teasing me with about two and a half minutes
to go, Oh you know how.

Speaker 12 (02:17:33):
To get me.

Speaker 2 (02:17:35):
Pretty good effort though overall.

Speaker 13 (02:17:36):
Yeah, both teams in this game, Yeah, yep, I think
so good. Good clean games, some good opportunities by both teams.
Great goaltending on both ends, and we'll see what the
contest brings.

Speaker 2 (02:17:47):
Tomorrow and you'll be back to one more time. You're
gonna do.

Speaker 5 (02:17:50):
I'm gonna try this again tomorrow, see if i can
get it right.

Speaker 2 (02:17:54):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (02:17:54):
Thanksmart Greenie, Thanks a lot on Wisconsin, and.

Speaker 2 (02:17:57):
We've completed the broadcast of the game from Lebond Arena.
The Badgers put up five on the board and Leila
Edwards leading the way with a couple of goals here,
