Beating hockey fans from Bob Johnson Rank inside the Cole
Center in Madison. After losing the season opener last night
four to two, the Badgers tried it even their record
and earn a split against the Lindenwood Lions. Jackson Lunsford
is our producer at our Learfield Studios in Jefferson City, Missouri.
(01:11):
To my right, former Badger's assistant coach and defenseman Ian
Parrin on Brian Posik, Well, Wisconsin did fall last night
to lynden Wood four to two. The Lions earned their
first ever victory against the nationally ranked team. They had
been ode twenty and two in their first three years
of Division One existence, and linden Wood also beat a
(01:31):
Big ten team for the first time in fifteen tries,
previously twelve and two. Ian give lynden Wood credit, they
outscore the Badgers in the opening period two to one,
then won nothing in the second. Badgers pulled within one
in the third period, but a goal by defenseman Artem
borscha Off at sixteen thirty seven basically put the final
(01:55):
nail in the coffin in that four to two victory,
and Mike Hastings upset afterwards as you might imagine, hoping
for a better effort tonight from his club.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
Well, that's going to be the key to their success
here in the second half. Pick up the intensity, be
more consistent, win every one on one battle, because, as
we talked about at the end of the first, end
of the second and at the end of the game,
one on one lyndon Wood was why far the better team,
never strayed from their objectives at any point in time,
(02:25):
and when they got their opportunities, they scored I can't
say that Bucky did that. When they had opportunities, they
didn't score, mainly because there was a five man defensive
wall standing in front of him pretty much all the time.
But you're right. I mean he had a right to
be upset, and I see he's made some lineup juggles,
so to speak. But I don't think that anything will
(02:46):
be changed significantly for Linden.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
With no In fact, their head coach, Bill mccolt wins
his first game as the Lions head coach. He thought
Wisconsin played well last night. You'll hear what Mike Hastings
has to think and we come back. Plus, we will
tell you before we get to our coaches interview. William Gramma,
the sophomore from Sweden, will starting goal tonight after Tommy
(03:09):
Scarfoni give up four goals on nineteen shots last evening.
I'll tell you what's going on in Big ten hockey
as well. The puck drops here just after six o'clock.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
To were at the Cole Center in Madison. Series finale
to start the season. It's Wisconsin and Lyndon Wood the
Lions last night a four to two victory and the
season opener here in Madison, joined by head coach Mike
Hastings and Mike, you know that was a tough one
to take. Last night, And you know, I'm just a
(06:50):
broadcaster and I couldn't fall asleep. I don't know what
it was like for the head coach.
Speaker 13 (06:54):
Yeah, those as I said in the pressure, it's those sticks.
They hurt, you know. And as a coach and a
coaching staff, and same thing you ask your players is
looking a mirror, identify what you did well and what
you didn't do well. And last night we didn't do enough.
And so as a group, we have to be a
lot better. And it really starts with we've got to
(07:17):
have our horses run. I really like some things that
I saw from some newbies and freshman Gavin Morrissey, I thought,
you know, really played well. I thought Logan Henst showed well,
We're going to need a little bit better effort between
the posts, but we have to give that individual a
little bit more support offensively also. So there's a lot
(07:39):
of things just in that comment. And so we get
a teed up tonight and get right back after it.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
What you want to.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Do, you pointed out Gavin last night along with Kyle
Kuchanin and Rylan Mosley, they played together, accounted for two
goals in four points. What did they do well that
maybe some others did.
Speaker 13 (07:55):
Not hungry hard second and third. So you look at
where you know the goal that I think ends up
being now given to gab and coach was standing right
in a paint on the power play. Then we have
Schultz get up and go to the post as one
of our defensemen on a rush. Seven makes a great
(08:17):
play back to Moseley and he buries it. I think
Mosley had eight shots on net. We had a line
that you know, we had some some veterans that between
all three of them we didn't have any and so
we need, you know, too many passengers last night. And
you know, hunger, I think is something that you know,
you get fed if you go out and hunt and
(08:38):
you do the work, you get fed. And if you don't,
you can starve a little bit. Last night we starved
with too many forwards.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
And again linden Wood came at you. They were pressuring
on the fore check, they pressured the puck and at
times it didn't seem like your club handled that very well.
Speaker 13 (08:52):
Yeah, a couple of turnovers, we had some unfore stairs
through the neutral zone. You know, two points made before
the game last night that obviously did not come to fruition.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
It was owned both fronts.
Speaker 13 (09:05):
Of the net. I thought they owned both fronts of
the net. You know, they defended real hard and on
their third one day, the guys standing on top of
the paint and grabs a rebone and tucks it in.
So learning experience and we have to move.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
On Badger's and the Lindenwood Lions more with Mike Hastings

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Series finale here in just a little Bit, Wisconson and
Lyndon Wood sophomore William Gramma is in goal tonight. Tommy Scarfoni,
the transfer from rit got the start last night. My casetings,
what did you think of Tommy's debut with the Badgers.
Speaker 13 (11:49):
Well, I think you know, Tommy's a guy and you've
met him and talked to him. He's a pretty realistic,
foundation based young man. I think he'd like to have better.
You know, you look at the first one. We leave
a guy wide open on the late from the ladies tease.
I don't blame him on that one. You know, we
had a break down from a penalty kill and they
(12:12):
throw it under the bar. So I don't blame Tommy
on that one. I think he'd like the third one back.
And you know, like I said, it's the learning experience
for him. He's coming from a different league playing at
this level and he didn't have the night that he wanted.
But it wasn't completely his fault. He had some others
that weren't quite pulling their part. And so we're gonna
(12:35):
have to get off to a better start and give
Grammy some support tonight.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
When we saw William last year in only four games
because Kyle McClelland was so good, William was good. And
actually his last start came against lynden Wood last January.
So he's a year older, you're wiser. I suppose he
still has that smile on his face all the time.
He loves playing this.
Speaker 13 (12:55):
Yeah, he's a guy you like running into the rink
every day. One just because of the foundation that him
and his parents have, you know, fostered back at home
and just work ethic and appreciation. And he's really dialed
in his nutrition to a point where he's at a
completely different level this year than he was last year.
I'm hoping that's going to serve him well throughout this season,
(13:18):
and we need him to step up because we need
somebody to step into that role and say, hey, you
know what this and that's mine.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
And finally you've shuffled your lines quite a bit. We're
going to see Sawyer Shoal in the lineup for the
first time this season. Adam piedl It will make his
Wisconsin debut. None of the lines you had on the
chart last night matchup tonight, and you're just trying to
find the right chemistry, right.
Speaker 13 (13:39):
Hey, You got to give opportunity. You know that's from
a coaching standpoint. You know our positions to try and
prepare him and then give him an opportunity. And you know,
Sawyer Shoal's a guy that works his tail off. I
thought Adam piedl I had a decent game when he
was in Omaha, and for what we did last night,
or I should say what we didn't get done to
give some others an opportunity be able to get in
(14:01):
there and show themselves. I think they've earned that to
what they've given up until this point.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Badgers hope to even their record against Lyndon Wood here tonight.
That's coach Mike Castings. More of our pregame show coming up.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Listen to Eric Hovedy well if you're.
Speaker 22 (15:27):

cutting Social Security, Medicare, and nursing home care, even veterans benefits.

There's an amazing supper club in Wisconsin Dells ish Nala,

Speaker 2 (17:14):
In the station, Wisconsin and Lyndenwood dropped the puckin about
fifteen minutes or so. The Lions were their most significant
win as a Division one program last night, beating the
Badgers first win and twenty three tries against a nationally
(17:35):
ranked opponent. Lyndenwood is in game two of a ten
game road trip to start the season as an independent.
Lindenwood does not play very often at the Saint Louis
Blues practice facility near Saint Louis. After this weekend, the
Lions go to Air Force for two games, go to
Miami of Ohio for a pair, go out to Pittsburgh
(17:55):
to play Robert Morris, and then play two at Denver.
Their first home series is November fifteenth and sixteenth against
the Ohio State Buckeyes. Badgers trying to get a series
splits while elsewhere last night in college hockey, fourth rank
Michigan State shut out at home by second ranked Boston
(18:16):
College three to nothing. In the finale today at mont Arena,
the former Badger Charlie Strable scored his first goal as
a Spartan, but Sparty trails BC two to one heading
into period number two. Michigan a four to one win
at Arizona State last night behind a hat trick from
Garrett Schifsky. The Wolverines and Sun Devil's meet in about
(18:36):
fifteen minutes or so. Minnesota thump there Force seven to one.
At the Icebreaker Invitational in Las Vegas. Connor Kirth had
a hat trick for the Gophers, who faced Omaha in
the championship game tonight. Zach Erdall, the former Badger, had
two goals, including the overtime game winner for the Mavericks,
who beat UMass last night. So it's Minnesota and Omaha
(18:58):
in the title game. Notre Dame beat Saint Lawrence last night.
The Irish visit Clarkson tonight, and after a three to
three overtime tie with American International last night, Ohio State
has a four to one lead in the third period. Heartland,
Wisconsin's Max Montes has his second goal of the weekend.
You know, whether it's Boston College Ian or it's Lindenwood,
(19:22):
every game matters. And when you're at home and you're
playing an independent team in Lindenwood that won only six
games a year ago, if you stumble, and we saw
that with a tie last year against Lindenwood and a
home loss to Alaska Anchorage, that costs you in the
pairwise rankings. The computer formula that determines the NCAA tournament
field and the seeding that bit the Badgers in the
(19:44):
backside last year and last night's loss could very well
do the same, even though the bids aren't handed out
until March exactly.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
And you know, for whatever reason, and I don't know,
I can't tell you what an eighteen or nineteen year
or twenty year old is thinking, but they look at
linden Wood and go they were got awful last year.
I don't care whether they're coming in here or bent
to go out after us or whatever it is. We
should be able to just put our skates on and
(20:13):
go out and do it. And just in talking with
coach Hastings a couple times this week, he said that's
been our biggest fear is we just kind of tried
to put lightning in a bottle again and get them
all fired up to play. But I don't really know
if any coach that can do that unless till the
(20:33):
game starts. Yeah, And the part that I liked about
it is the guys who didn't react to it and
didn't do very well with it last night are now
being substituted for because he has young men who have
worked really hard and have as their job as a coach.
That was the best line he had in the whole interview.
It's our job as a coach to give them the
(20:53):
opportunity to succeed. And I think that's the greatest thing.
It's also the hardest thing to do. As a coach.
Coach to tell a young man who has played for
you for two years, you're going to sit tonight so
I can give this kid who worked hard all week
in practice a shot that doesn't go over real big
with some of your veterans.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Sometimes you have to teach a lesson though, and that, yeah,
what he's doing exactly exactly. The Badgers and the Lindenwood Lions.
We'll set the line charts for you and have the
opening face off about ten minutes from now. This is
Bacheer Hockey for lear Field.
Speaker 26 (21:26):

UW Health Sports Medicine Treating the Badgers, treating you. Our
injury update brought to you by UW Health The Badgers
in good health. Simon Tassy, little banged up in the
third period last night, returned to action. He's in the
lineup tonight. Healthy scratches this evening freshman defestman Weston Knox
and Jack Phalen, freshman forward Luke Buss and softomore forward
(23:55):
Owen Mellenbacher, who is minus three last night. Taking a
look the quick trip starting lineup. So the lineups in
general is we talked about Ian Mike Hastings. His four
forward lines last night do not look at all the
same as they as tonight. The top line features freshman
Gavin Morrissey five to eleven hundred and eighty five. Powder
(24:16):
had a goal and an assist in his Badger's debut,
plus he won nine of thirteen face offs last night.
He was fun to watch, little left hander. Where's number seven? Heads?
He looking player? Doesn't it look that way?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Yeah, he's Uh, it's very unassuming. I guess that's the
thing that gets me. But as soon as he gets
inside the top of the circles, he starts to declare that, hey,
let's do some magic down here. And he's so good
with the puck. I was just so, I guess impressed
with when he's in tight in traffic and nine times
(24:51):
out of ten or forwards worried about how you're going
to get your head knocked off by some six foot
four defenseman. He's always figured out where our open guy
he is. You know, his hockey sense down low below
the top of the circles was second to none last night.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Yeah, Morris, he will center the top line as left wingers.
Ryland Moseley, the Michigan Tech transfer, stored of goal last night,
had eight shots on goal, and the right wing is
Simon Tassey, the junior from Montreal. He was on the
top line last night but didn't register a shot on goal.
Noted the left wing on the top line last night,
Quinn Finley, the sophomore from Swamaco is on the second
(25:25):
line tonight with team captain Owen Lindmark, who did not
have a shot on goal last night. Jack Horbach, the
junior and other Naperville, Illinois native. Second line right winger
Christian Fitzgerald moves down to the third line. The junior
from Coke Quitlam didn't have a shot on goal last night.
Kyle Kuchan, and the junior from Maple Grove had an
assist last night in his badger's debut. He's on the
right wing. Ryan Boarol, the freshman from Portage Le Prairie,
(25:49):
Manitoba on the left wing. He had five shots on
goal last night. And then we heard Sawyer Schohl left wing,
sophomore from Medford, Tyson Dick, junior from a Habitsburg BC,
centering the fourth line. Codyleskowski, he transferred from rit The
fifth fourth line right winger and the extra skater is
freshman forward Adam Piedla from Heartland, Michigan. Pienala. Last year
(26:11):
with Youngstown of the Usahl had twenty four goals and
forty eight points in sixty one games. Defensive pairs from
last night remained the same. Zach Scholz with Anthony Kerr,
Joe Pladachuck and bendx Sheimer, Daniel Lotch and freshman Logan Henzler,
who had an assist and four shots on goal in
his first goal as a Badger, first game as a
Badger and end goal. Is William gram a sixty four
(26:33):
to two hundred and thirteen pounds sophomore from Stockholm last
season played four games two to zero to one A,
won thirteen goals against a nine to fifty nine save percentage.
He posted a shutout in his Badger's debut. His last start, though,
was January thirteenth against Lyndon Wood Grandma. Gave up three
goals on twenty four shots and a three to three
(26:53):
overtime tie. Badgers ended up winning in a shootout. As
for Linden with their starting goaltender is Owen Bartes Skevitch,
the sophomore from Northville, Michigan, last night, stopped thirty four
of thirty six shots in his Lion's debut. The former
Minnesota Golden Gopher defensive pairs include Aiden Yakham Chuck and
Sean Ramsey. Ramsey out of Toronto with former Madison Capitol
(27:14):
Yakham Chuck from Saint Albert, Alberta. He had seven of
Lyndenwood's twenty block shots last night. You know, they just
clogged the middle and made one of the reasons that
Finley and Fitzgerald and Tassi didn't have a shot on
goals because they couldn't see the goal.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Yeah, half the time there was not two, but three,
but four defensive players. Did his back right in and
build a snow cone right around the top of the
crease in front of their goaltender. So yeah, it was
a great defensive effort and I think the only way
they're going to get around that is that it's going
to have to start moving the puck side to side
instead of taking a shot and trying to get a rebound,
(27:53):
because they're going to get beat up if they try
and get a rebound.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Lynn Wood's captain is David Ganyon from Halifax. He had
a couple of assists last night. He's the second line
left winger with Drew Cosma and Alex Lundman, who had
the game winning goal the former Bimigi State Beaver. Their
fourth line features sophomore Jaden Mercier, who scored twice for
the Lions. So the Badgers and the Lindenwood Lions. Let's

Samuel Schakowski and Chad Roethlisberger the linesman. The opening face
off brought to you by Odyssey Greek Yogurt. Start your

Morrissey Tassy left to right with defenceman pull outa chuck
(32:02):
and Dexheimer Gramma end goal. All wearing white uniforms with
red helmets, sleeves, hockey pants, numerals in Wisconsin diagonally down
the chest. Lindenwood black uniforms, gold lettering, numerals and striping,
and we're underway here in Madison. The Badgers won the
opening face off, but linden Wood picks up the puck
back in its own end. Lead feed by the defenseman
(32:23):
Jack Anderson up to center eyes. Good play by Joe
Prowdy to slow the progress of Ben Dexzheimer was at Prouty.
Actually that was Ty Hipkin, freshman left winger. He and
dex Sheimer exchanging pleasantries right in the front of the bench.
Puck popped over the dasher and out of play. So
seventeen seconds in they'll drop the puck at the center
circle once again.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
House chemistry at linden Wood, because it's really tough here,
And that's pretty much the conversation that usually goes on
on the ice.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
You mean chemistry the class, not team chemistry. Yes, okay,
Badgers dump it into our left played out to the
right point. Hensler will bounce it right back in Logan.
Hensler showed some offensive gifts last night and really carry
the puck. Here's Joe Proudy look out defense been banked
it up ahead past Hensler. Two on one for Linden
would to our right past to Adam's good stick by
(33:14):
Daniel lodch Oh. It was Southgate trying to get Evans'
right wing and Lotch who's six foot five, stuck his
stick in there and took it away. Hensler carries into
the offensive zone. Puck pop Frida Quinn Finley out high
shot blocks locked by Christoph Papp into the New York corner.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
It goes.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Lind Mar tried to protect, looking for some help. When
Finley slides over, lind Mark tried to jam it free,
Anderson pulls it free for Linda would skate try in
front of his net and ran into Kyle Kuchanan, who
forced a turnover out to care. He bounces one on
goal stop by Bartiskevitch on his knees. He made the
save and covers up a minute sixteen into the first
(33:53):
no score. Here in Madison, a little bit better crowd
filing in than last night when they announced seventy five
hundred for at attendance.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
Jack Anderson's a big boy six six to twenty five,
but I don't think he could keep up with the
speed when he got the pope check in front of
him as he tried to credit cross right in front
of his own net. I was like, yeah, I managed
the coaches saying, make sure the guy you can beat
the guy before you start doing that stuff again.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Badger's offensive zone, they win it. Fitzgerald right wing trying
to get the centering pass from below the goal line,
but he got hooked from behind by Ganion and so
Wisconsin will get an early cueness power play. Nice face
all play in the offensive zone.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
Yeah, I don't not one hundred percent where the actual
hook was, but when the puck came back to the slot,
it looked like the Badger player could not get a
clean shot off because his stick ended up at a
bad angle. So I'm assuming that's where the hooking was.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
One twenty three at the time of the penalty on
Ganyon centering pass went off the sticker skate of Ryland
Moseley in tight and just trickled wide. Badgers hold his own,
deck Ceimer off to his left. Fitzgerald looking backside right,
loose pucking' the slot, whacked at by Wisconsin's Moseley, who
again this time dives in one hands one to the
corner in Simon Tassey, but his pass up the near
(35:12):
side boards to Fitzgerald deflected and cleared by Ethan Zilke
on gold William Gramma. He and hands off to deck
Ceimer and the Badger's reload. On the power play. Two
minutes in no score, Quinn Finley comes across the line
low left and rises a shot too high and off
the glass and all the way out to center ice.
Fitzgerald fell down trying to hold his own He gets
(35:33):
it back rink white pass to Finley on the rush
three on three, Moseley pulls the trigger and missed the nets.
That one even sounded fast yep. Now Tassy keeps it
alive behind the cage. Gavin Morrissey to the right wing
in Finley. Finley back pedals towards the blue line. Morrissey's
got a half boards right. Morrissey patient, they're not pressuring
the puck carrier right now on this penalty killed now
(35:56):
they willed out high pap makes Finley pass. Here's Tassy
centering on to Mosley, who pushed it. Why Badgers have
forty five seconds left on the power play looking for
their first lead to the season. Tassy straight away fires
won too high over the outstretched club of Bartis s
Kevitch and then hammered out of the zone. And now
Lyndon Wood will change its penalty killers, the Badgers will
get their second power play unit on the.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Ice trying desperately to go cross ice with that pass.
Sometimes that's too long and Lindon Woods has time to
react to it after that.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Wisconsin one for five on the power play last night,
and we've got a whistle offside, offside called on the
land off side called yep so with face off coming
to neutralized with twenty seconds left on the power play.
You have ten shots on goal in nine minutes of
twenty five seconds in power play hockey last night for Wisconsin.
The power play goals scored by Gavin Morrissey. It was
actually a pass to the crease for Kyle kuchen In,
(36:50):
but it hit Jack John Evans, one of the penalty killers,
and one in the net. Morrissey got credit for the goal.
Base off all the way back into the Wisconsin zone
because of the non tag up. Ye have the laid
off side and the Badgers win the draw and Henzler's
got it. He's with Kuchen and Morrissey, Tyson, Dick and
Ryan Botteril Morrissey left wing to Dick hoked it past
(37:14):
Boreshaf down into the left corner. Yakim Chuck had the
puck pulled free. Morrissey banks it around to Dick. Linnenwood
back at full strength for the Badgeries have the puck
in the offensive zone, cooking in down low right. Morrissey
bobbled for a moment. Now behind the net, it's Tyson Dick.
Dick tried to wrap it around stop by Bartiskevitch twice
and then Bartiskevitch kept his ground and then covered. He
(37:34):
had a face off to come. Sixteen twenty nine to
go in the first Badgers get a power play chance
early failed to converts. It's no schooling interesting.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
I was just watching Bartiskevitch as he's down there on
the ice. He's pretty calm, cool and collective for a
quote unquote not legitimate freshman, but yeah, the first real
shot as the starter as a freshman. Pretty calm, cool,
collective young man.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
He played six game James at the University of Minnesota
in the twenty twenty two to twenty three season. He
got called up basically at the semester break from Youngstown
and then went back to junior hockey. He was not
in the plans as Justin Cloes came in for the
Gophers and did an excellent job for two seasons. He
returned to Youngstown, was very good last season. Oh oh,
(38:20):
is that not interference? Lyn Mark just got hammered in
the offensive zone after the puck had left the zone.
No penalty call, and now linden Wood's Ganyon had it
and lifting his stick with horback, he keeps it alive
in the attacking zone out there as Sawyer shoal his
first shift of the season, Daniel Lotch mucking it up
(38:41):
on the right wing wall of the offensive zone, trying
to bat it out towards the point that's where Jack
Horbach is couldn't get it deep. He's tied up now
by Cosma, and then Lotch pokes it free, but right
to the stick of the defenseman Thomas Jarman and back
out to center. So he went back to Youngstown did
bartis Kevitch and played well with Ryan Borel and Gavin
(39:01):
Morrissey to Wisconsin Badgers and he earns the first start
of the year last night at Lyndon Wood and beats
ninth ranked Wisconsin and earned that second start because of
the way he played on the first start. Bill mccolt
told me, I said, did you think about maybe putting
in your other goal tenor? He said no, no, not
at all. Why would I?
Speaker 5 (39:19):
And I was like, I just had I just had
to ask reward the young man who got you there,
Adam Piedla out there for the first time as a
Wisconsin Badger with Codyleskonski and Tyson Dick for the time being.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
Lynnon Wood wins the Pucket Center ice and it's sent
down in by Noah hoole h o u l e
from Montreal.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
When he is related to.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
You used to I like how you say it better
than I do.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Well, it's a pretty common name if you're a Montreal
Canadians fan, which I am not, so doesn't ring a
bell with me anymore.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Fucked out deep in the Wisconsin zone, William Gramma leaves
it off for Ben Deck Seimer calling for the puck.
Fitzgerald file pass turnover in the high slot of the
Wisconsin zone, but the bouncing puck eluded both mercy A
and Hipkin, so the Badgers will try to break out again.
Kuchanan tied up dex Sheimer shovels it near side. Botteril
(40:18):
he'll bank it ahead Fitzgerald can't reach it. Hipkin does
his pass at center ricocheted off a couple of skates,
and now dex Sheimer picks it up, back pedals towards
the bench across the way. Now comes through the center
circle and pitched it to the left corner. Kuchanin in
on the fore check. Ramsey the defenseman there first, Kucanan
strips him of the puck. Now he's in battle behind
the net. Botteril comes to help out to the point
(40:40):
he goes Henzler left side lodg. He lifts one towards
the net and that muffin into the catching glove of
Bartiskevitch and he hangs on a little pushing and shoving
afterwards between kuchen In and Aiden Yakum chuck.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
Hey, you know what's interesting about that? As at least
and I always refer to it from a coach's perspective.
Lotch took the shot, the goaltender was out in front.
At no point in time did a Badger forward ever
have any opportunity to get in front of the net
or in front of the goaltender because their defenseman just
kept pushing them off to the side, pushing them off
to the side. He's seeing pucks very clearly because there's
(41:20):
not a lot of.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Traffic, no bucket center ice. Mitch Allard with it third
line centerment. He'll throw on at the net from long range,
and Grandma scoops it up with his left glove hand
and hangs on. Wisconsin Badger Hockey brought to you all
season long by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, which reminds
you to always drive sober zero in Wisconsin. Together we
(41:41):
can save lives. Get the drive sober app today. No
score thirteen forty three left in the opening period here
in Madison, five two shots on goal in favor of
the Badgers, who outshot Lindenwood last night thirty six nineteen
but fell four to two. Wisconsin won the face off
(42:02):
Rylan Moseley's passed to center intended for launch the two
did not connects pushed out to neutral ice. Ooh and
Jacob Vockler one on one with Hensler. Hensler with a
pretty good stick to knock into the corner. Launch just
took a hit to the head. Nothing called. Here's Tassy now, redline.
He'll fire it in off the ground last and it
bounces towards the front of that at Bartaskevitch. The goaltender
(42:24):
reaches to his left and carouse it. Boy. Tassy dumped
that in and his intent immediately was to get to
the puck, and he won that race had it not
bounce free to Bartiskevitch.
Speaker 5 (42:35):
I would like to know what was being said in
French between Tassy and oul as they were battling one
on one down there. Nobody else in the rink would
have understood one word of it, but I'm sure they did.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Lynn Mark lost the face off. Linden Wood will escape
its own zone. Evans head Man's to southgate. Did he
get a piece of it? Yes, no, I think care
first of the puck deep in the Wisconsin zone to
our right, tried to force a pass out. Lynden worked
there able to lind Mark, They're able to scoop it
along past one of the defenders. Luck loose at neutral
ice again and then sent back Wisconsin's way. Seven minutes
(43:08):
gone by here in the first then Finley's got the
puck near sign. It pops high into the air, brought
down by the right hand of lynn Mark. He'll bring
it back to Zach Schulz, the sophomore defenseman. Two goals,
six points for shoals as a freshman a year ago,
paired with Anthony Kerr. Head manned to lynn Mark off
the back of his stick and almost misplayed by Charman
(43:31):
in front of his own net. Thomas Charman, former bu terrier.
Speaker 5 (43:37):
Interesting how he misses the puck and then in a
wild blind backhand pass it ends up right on their
guys stick like seriously.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Jarman sixty three to two hundred pounds from Pittsburgh pass
up the right wing wall, bounce free to Wisconsin's Leskowski
and now here's Tyson Dick redline, blue line deck Zheimer
slow Byakum Chuck try to feed it in front, No Luck,
Lestowsky applying pressure, but the puck comes free and Ganyon's
got it now Danyon left handed. Nice play by Wisconsin.
(44:08):
Sawyer's Shul to separate Ganyan from the puck in a whistle.
Are they going to take Shoal for head contact.
Speaker 5 (44:14):
Holding or a holding? I think it's going to be
against Uhoal Lindenwood.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
It's gonna Oh it's Kanyon again.
Speaker 5 (44:21):
Yeah, Ganyon again. As he went by, he tried to
get the advantage against Sawyer. Shoal reached in and grabbed him.
I don't know if it was his back arm or
the one that was facing him, but as soon as
he got there, it was just kind of a pull
down and I wouldn't have called it, but we'll take it.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Yeah, Shoal separated him from the puck going right through
his hands, and Danyan just grabbed him. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:48):
And then there was no how should they put it?
And slur disagreement by Ganyon by any stretch of the imagination.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Morsey shot blocked before it got to the net, bottle
of tied up near side by, Allard slides free, Kuchenon's
got it out high and left right side thin lay
heen wristled one that went high and wide and morrisy
can't hold on the near side boards. Badgers need to
touch up.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Where did it go high? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (45:14):
Yon holding at eight O eights.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
Oh inside jokes are the best.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
Morris he able to one hand the puck through neutral
ice and going to get it as kuchenin eleven fourteen
left here in the first Badgers eighty seconds left on
their second Cunis power play, Hensler head Man's to botterl
cut off by Borshaw, Buck sent back deep into the
corner because Hensler came crashing in, played around the board's
(45:41):
far side. Finley kept it alive for a moment in
the attacking zone, but then it's batted away from him
and all the way back towards Wisconsin's netminer William Gramma.
Speaker 5 (45:50):
Too much space between the backside and the front side
of the Badgers that Lindon would Once they get the puck,
they realize how much space they've got.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
Mosley tried to chip it in, but the line's been
out of the way. Badgers skate back and retrieved the puck.
Here's Simon Tassi now Tassie a year ago had twelve
goals and twenty eight points. Seven of those goals on
the power play. Here's Fitzgerald right wing, Finley, Finley stepping
in past to the slot mostly to get a stick
on it. Jackson tied him up. It's thrown out through
(46:20):
center ice and all the way down. Buck was just.
Speaker 5 (46:22):
Laying there free of charge, and the Lindenwood defenseman separated
the Badger defense or the Badger forward from the puck
and made a nice clear.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
No shots on goal on this power play so far,
just fourteen seconds left in it. Around to the right wing.
It's Fitzgerald. He'll snap one off. That hit Tassy right
in front of the net. In the cut. He tried
to leap out of the way and that hit him
in the mid section. Bartiskevitch located the biscuit and covered
it and with seven seconds left on the power play,
a face off inside the Lindenwood zone. Halfway through the
(46:54):
opening period. We are scoreless. I think the other term
you were looking for was not gut, but grow.
Speaker 5 (47:00):
It may have been the area that he has had
contact with the puck.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
He's bent over at his waist as he got to
the Badger's bench.
Speaker 5 (47:11):
This guy's from Montreal. Sure get hurt a lot they do.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Lyn Mark out there with Horch, Liskowski pu lot of
chuck and lotch. So let's see if lynn Mark and
with a face saw and he won ten of twelve.
Last night, Badgers won thirty four to fifty one draws.
They win this one. Latches shot blocked by Yakam Chuck
in between the circles, and the Badger's now zero for
two on the power Fileskowski with a steal down the
(47:36):
middle was Horback. He couldn't get at the puck to him.
Liskowsky carries it to the net and lost it. Now
Horbach swings it down low left p a lot of
chuck tapped it off for lynn. Mark now banks it
out to the right point and lotch refeeds deep. Horbock
now with it with a Liskoski steps around backhand and
eyed by Bartiskevitch, Horback and lind Mark again. Liskoski moving
(47:57):
his feet to the far corner. Horbock joins him in steel,
but it's taken away from him by Cozma and flung
out to center eyes where it's caught down by Plata
Chuck and he throws it right back in.
Speaker 5 (48:08):
That was good intense shift. Didn't get many shots on net,
but they had opportunities.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
That's the key. Here's Pap now skates into the offensive zone,
cuts to his left and fanned at a shot the
laid off side on lynden Wood. That's the case. Nine
five to go here in the first period. Still no
score from the Cole Center in Madison. Back in one minute.
This is Badger Hockey from.
Speaker 35 (48:27):

Speaker 27 (49:03):
This is where the magic happens, where the best players
lead with passion, fight with power, and win with exceptional performance.
And now it's time we add another house to our
Badger community. Meet Madison's newest powerhouse player, UW Health East
Park Medical Center, home of top doctors and advanced treatments,
all under one roof. So no matter the opponent, we're
(49:26):
the place to defeat it. UW Health remarkable.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Now score nine oh five left for the first period
of play. What do you think of the Badgers so
far here tonight compared to last night?
Speaker 5 (49:42):
You much more intense?
Speaker 4 (49:44):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (49:45):
And I think you know. One of the downfalls, obviously,
is that they don't mind shooting. It's what they do
after they shoot the puck again, Follow your puck, follow
your shot. Win those one on one battles. It's going
to be a topic of well thought out topic every
day this year.
Speaker 2 (50:04):
Linton Wood already with four block shots long range shot
left wing got through Grandma made the stop and then
went scrambling for the puck and it ricocheted off one
of his teammates and right back to him, and he
put the mit down and covered face off. Coming up
in the Lindenwood zone. They have not had much offensive
zone time, speaking of.
Speaker 5 (50:22):
Alliance, and every time that they dump the puck in,
as long as the Badger gets in full control of it,
they go to a one to two two one guy
kind of chases the puck and tries to get them
to go into a congested area that's loaded with Lindwood people.
But Badgers have been pretty good coming up the Neutrals
on it's after they dump it in that they haven't
had much success.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Ethan Zelkey will take the draw for Lindenwood, wins it
to the left point. The right point defenseman Noah Huhl
tried to dump it deep and it was deflected by
the Badgers back out at center. Now Zilkey with his
linemate's Jaden mercya right hand and right winger and Ty
Hipkin left handed left winger. But again the puff played
(51:02):
out to center by the Badgers and Wisconsin trying to
apply some pressure and Lindenwood just fired it all the
way down and iced it time art some Boreshaw panicked
a little bit misfired on a headman pass face off
back into the Lindenwood zone.
Speaker 5 (51:18):
I just got a text from one of my senior tenants. Yes, seriously,
your goaltender's name is Grandma. He could live here. Funny.
That was like, Okay, somebody's listening, and somebody's got to
send a humor that is funny.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
Morsey loses the draw it to Zelkey and it's played
out towards the blue line and then batted near side wall.
Pilata Chuck got hit hard by Zilkey, who then has
a mouthful to give pilata Chuck rubbing it in just
a little bit. But Joe's up on his skates. Badger's
lobbed ahead, hoping Tass he can get past the defender
and he was engaged with Boreshop and a penalty coming
(51:59):
up on Borshaw, who tried or no, they're going to
get Tassy instead. Boy, he was riding the back of
Borschaw trying to get to the puck. Tassy looking at
the referee and that looks to be uh. Jonathan Sitarski
did not like the call. He says Tassy for holding.
Speaker 5 (52:17):
Yeah, he kind of pulled him backwards and ended up
underneath of him. But the fact of the matter being is,
I guess you're going to call it by the books
that's exactly what it was.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
Because you can argue that Borschaw was interfering with Tassy
trying to get to the puck, but Tassy with a
little tug and at twelve twelve Badgers on the penalty
kill and.
Speaker 5 (52:38):
You know they hang around. They hang around, the hangaround,
and then you give him an opportunity like this late
in the period.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
And Mark won the face off on the penalty kill
then lost it. So now Lynnon would try to set
up on the power play they do. Pap then muffed
the puck. He was open right circle and looked like
he just didn't know what he was doing and he
mishandled the puck in the Backw's able to get to
it and clear Jack horback out there. He's in on
the fore check, not sure if the defenseman Ool knows
he's coming, and then Jack make sure he does because
(53:08):
he just clobbered him into the nboards. Power play for
lynden Wood for another ninety seconds. Ool with it. We'll
drop it back now to Ganyon out there with Southgate
Cosma and on the far side Southgate with it. They
move it around. Now it's Ool at the points Ganyan,
(53:29):
Southgate straightaway Ool near side of blast by Ganyon off
the mark and then off the glass and pass the
point man and all the way down.
Speaker 5 (53:38):
Yeah, very much a perimeter shot as long as the
Badgers are blocking people out, Yeap Grammar should have a
very easy time with situations like that.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
I'm not sure if I mention it, but Lyndon Wood
won for three on the power play last night mercyer.
One of his two goals came on the man advantage.
They dump it into the Badger's zone. The only one
there is Daniel Lotch and from two hundred feet he
fires at the length of the ice and then lind
Mark picked a pocket of the defenseman. Ramsey kept it
deep for a while. Ramsey coughed it up again. Liskowski
(54:06):
goes rinked wide to Lotch, who hammers it around the
left corner to right. Liskowski gets there puck free for
Morrissey twirls away from Ramsey in the offensive zone. Badgers
are on a penalty kill. You would think that linden
Wood was.
Speaker 5 (54:20):
This is obviously, this is going to be a situation
where the Badgers have changed their philosophy and it's working.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
Scoop it ahead now, Mercy. A good pope check by
Zach Schulz and offside called on Lindenwood. The fans here
appreciate what they see from the penalty killers. Eleven seconds
left in the Lindenwood power play, scoreless with five point
fifty nine to go in the opening period of play.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
Yeah, there was very little time for Lindenwood in the
offensive zone against the Badgers, and just as much time
or more time spent by the Badgers in Lindenwood's zone
just for checking feverishly.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
Face off one by Fitzgerald to Deck Simon, who pokes
it over to Palada Chuck and he'll clear. Wisconsin gets
the job done on the PK. No score. There's five
forty seven and counting down. Here in the opening period,
Tassi out of the box, pass ahead near side to
Alex Lundman, who had the game winning goal last night
for linden Wood. Pass back point shot, redirected. Zilky beats
(55:19):
Graandma one nothing linden Wood.
Speaker 5 (55:22):
I thought it went off the post. I really did
not think that that buck went in, but it could have.
I would like to see a replay of that, for say.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Well, Grandma's up out of his crouch taking a drink
of water. The goal lights are on, redirected in front
Ethan Zilkey, who had an assist last night seven goals
as a freshman a year ago, gets his first in
his sophomore season, and Lindenwood as the lead at the
fourteen twenty three.
Speaker 5 (55:52):
Mark, and again that was as innocent a play as
you could see, except for the fact that the Badgers
committed down low but didn't commit up.
Speaker 2 (56:02):
So Zilky from Jack Anderson and Ty Hipkin at twelve
fourteen twenty three. Fourth line comes through for the Lions.
Here's bottlel across the line Hill shoot one too high,
proud he may have gotten his stick on it. I
think he did. That's why the puck went up in
over the glass in an offensive zone. Face off coming
up for the Wisconsin Badgers. Not much that Grahmma can
(56:24):
do there. When you're passing left point and down the
middle comes Zilky and redirects. That's a tough one to stop.
Speaker 5 (56:30):
Yeah, and there's just so much motion in front of
you and you're supposed to concentrate on the puck, but
all of a sudden there's bodies going in front of
you and the puck is deflected to a different direction.
That's all reaction and he wasn't and it was just
inside the.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Post based off to the right of Bartiskevitch battling for it.
The Badgers Piedla and Shoal and now out to center
ice and then taken away by Shoal drops it off
mostly right side. Peda was ready to shoot at the
pass out of his reach, and then he back handed
(57:04):
around the boards. Lindenwood got there and threw it out
to neutral ice. Daniel Watch now pestered by Lundman as
he skates deep into the Wisconsin zone. Now Hensler will
skate ahead. He's mad as he passed the puck and
right to the stick of Lynnenwood's David Ganyon. Hensler battled
back to get it back out to center, and then
it's collected by Borschoff, who sends it back in. Watch
(57:27):
with Hensler. Morrissey's out there right now, Piedla for the
time being, but he'll come off, replaced by Kyle kuchen in.
It looks like Finley too. Vockler takes out Lotch in
the Wisconsin zone. Hensler tried to clear off the high glass.
Referee got in the way. Buckler now back behind the net.
They cycle it around to the right point in Ool
(57:47):
swings it far side now to Borschoff's slot. Shot by Allard,
blocked by Wisconsin Latch, then knocked down, but the puck
pulled free by Morrissey. And he pushed it deep into
the Lindenwood zone and the Lions it picked up their
play after scoring the first goal of the night.
Speaker 5 (58:02):
Yeah, a little jumping their step.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Finley steal behind the offensive nets. Finley looking slot care
shoots one oh I saved made by Barniskevitch who kicked
out his right leg. Good look by Finley. Morrissey now
with it, fakes right, comes down left towards the goal line.
Stick candling backhander, saved made, rebound, goes to the far wall.
What a move by Morrissey, who got knocked down back
on his skates, can't reach the buck behind the net.
(58:27):
Finley puts his shoulder into one of the Lions. Wisconsin's
Kouchenan does the same to Buckler, and now the Badger's
trying to stay on side. Shoals will dump it in
and change.
Speaker 5 (58:36):
Yeah, that's the one where you'd love to have back.
But Morrissey did all he could in tight conditions. Great
move to the net, and then to turn around and
not get the goal off of it, that's frustrating. Three
ten left here in the first period. Won nothing. Linden
Wood four to two winners. Last night, the Lions were
in the season opener. Buck slides out at center. Joe
(58:58):
Prowdy goes to get it.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
Wisconsin's Wisconsky knocked down at the Lindenwood blue line foot
race between Zilkey and Dexheimer. Lindenwood gets there first, long
range shot by Anderson, blocked high into the air, kicked
ahead by lynn Mark, poked a head by lynn Mark,
but too far for any of the Badgers, and Mercy
a feers back right and dumps it into the Badgers
(59:22):
zone to our right, and Lindenwood will change. Dex Sheimer
will stand behind his own net and survey Fitzgerald, Botterrel
and Piedla on the ice for Wisconsin. Here's Fitzgerald tries
to split two lions and fail to do so. Lost
the puck taken by Pap former Michigan state spartan, scoops
(59:44):
it in, watched there first. For the Badgers. Botteril pressured
near side Southgate and Notatch came in, but mishandled the puck.
Southgate took it to the net and had it whacked off.
Speaker 11 (59:53):
His stick.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
Watch now has it and he'll scoop it ahead, and
Fitzgerald with speed he'll track it down two on one
with Piedla. Here's Fitzgerald looking shooting up club side.
Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Missed the net.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Oh goodness, he fell down, but he's backup on his skates,
centering passed with a backhand off of skate, and Zack
Schulz shot from.
Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
Long range that went win.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Fitzgerald had a chance and tried to go back glove
side on Bartis Skevitch. And now here's another chance for
lynden Wood in a sliding blocked by Wisconsin shoals. That
man passed by Bottrel, too far for the Badger's defenseman
and out to center. Cosma stick candled into the offensive zone,
batted out of his out of mid air by Tyson Dick,
(01:00:35):
and then linden Wood picked it up at center and
went off side. Yeah, Fitzgerald, you can see, was.
Speaker 36 (01:00:40):
Coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Pack left, but he missed it high.
Speaker 5 (01:00:46):
Yeah, he missed it high. And there was a Badger
player on the far side on his forehand. But give
credit to Lyndon Mark's defenseman. They just kind of laid
down and made it impossible for him to make even
a good saucer pass across.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Dick's out there with Moseley Tassy Tassy fighting through the
physicality of Ganyon able to dump it in. Bartiskevitch out
of his net, flips it around the board's far side.
Caer pinches in to keep it alive. It goes off
the side of the net for Moseley knocks it down
behind the cage Ryland Moseley over skates. There is Tyson
Dick trying to help. Tassy slides over puck played towards
(01:01:19):
the point, but ticking by Ganyon slowed by Care could
have been interference. Nothing called Badger's retrieved the puck. Tassy
farside Care. He's met now by Lundman and back to
the Badger blue line. The biscuit comes with under a
minute to go on the period one nothing. Lindenwood shots
ten six in favor of the Badgers. Tyson Dick go
line left. His shot may have gone off the forehead
(01:01:40):
of the goal lead to the far glass deck. Sheimer
holds the zone, fights through the trek check of Zilkey,
can't get past Anderson, though there's Tyson Dick able to
win it. Free scooped it along the kickplate, but now
lifted out by Lindenwood. Thirty five seconds to go on
the period bad passed by Plata Chuck taken by Zilkey
into the offensive zone. Here's hip left handed freshman spins
(01:02:01):
away from pressure stick handling near the blue line and
lost it. Lindenwood's got a touch up, allowing the Badgers
to possess dex Sheimer. Head Man's to Morrissey scoots past
Hipken across the line three Lions back. He shoots one
into the chest of Partiskevitch, who batted it back behind
the net. Retrieved by Morrissey out to the point. Dex
Sheimer shoots one load didn't get through, came free to
(01:02:22):
Evans who coughed it up. Morrissey kept it alive, but
the Badgers would be delayed offside. Lindenwood picks up the
puck and that's it for the opening period. Lone goal
scored by the Lions Ethan Zilkey. At fourteen twenty three,
Lindenwood leads ninth. Frank Wisconsin won nothing after one. Badger

BO Wisconsin eleven Shots on Goal in the opening period,
Lynden would only six, but Ethan Zilkey on a redirect
beat William Gramma at fourteen twenty three, Jack Anderson and
Ty Hipkin the assists. Lindenwood has a one nothing lead
after one. The Badgers had two power play opportunities but
failed to convert. Linden would oh for one on its
(01:04:21):
man advantage. Badgers are better tonight than they were last night,
but have nothing to show up.
Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
For it, right exactly, And that's the real frustrating part,
especially if you're the coach. You're saying, hey, we played better,
but again we've got nothing to show for it. I
think the Badgers have just done a better job of
getting into the face of Lyndenwood again. Lindenwood is blocking
shots and deflicting shots to the side. But the fact
of the matter being is that the Badgers are using
(01:04:46):
their quickness getting multiple opportunities in the zone. And it's
a lot better performance than it was last night in
the first period by far.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Yeah, but the Badgers trail Lindenwood won to nothing. Stay tuned.

Bryan Posig and tarn here at the Cole Center, Wisconsin,
Down one nothing as we entered period number two. William
Gramma faced only six shots on goal in the opening period.
The one that got passed him was a redirect in
front of the net really not tested much at all,
and Owen Barteskevitch credited with eleven saves. Badgers had some
(01:15:34):
quality opportunities in that they shot high in that opening period.
And I think of Christian Fitzgerald and Quin Finley to
name a pair.
Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
Yeah, quin Finley in particular, he's the pull a trigger
guy on that power play, and when he comes on
his forehand, you expect him to at least hit the goalie,
but instead he went high and wide. Three or four times.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Badgers won the opening face off, Linnen would retrieve the
puck in its own zone and out dumps it into
the Badger's end out to Anderson left point, swings at
right side to Prouty, the right handed defenseman shoots one wide,
may have gone off a body behind the net, cham
Dad in front by Zilkey, that goes to the far corner. Proudy,
stood up by Wisconsin's Moseley, feeds it back behind the
net to deck Sheimer and the Badgers will come ahead
(01:16:14):
with it. Moseley up the middle of the ice right wing,
passed to Tassie. He's crushed by a check by Anderson,
and the linesman also got hit pretty good Sam Schakowski,
who took a pretty big, big blow last night. He
gets hit again here tonight and now on the attack,
it's Lyndon Wood falling down pap back up on his
skates with John Evans and Jake Southgate his line mates.
(01:16:36):
Thenmark took the puck away, met by Southgate, who got
physical with the Badger's captain, knocked the puck free, and
now Daniel Watch will pitch fork it up and out
of play in a face off coming up inside the
Wisconsin zone. A minute five into the second period. We
have no score, and you can tell that Linnenwood's trying
to bump and hit anybody in cardle and white here tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:16:59):
Yeah, pretty much. So Oh, he's elevated his game unless
I guess one of those deals where if it moves,
hit it. Yeah, if it moves again, knock it down.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Right, Badgers. When the face off, Heenzler can't clear off
the glass, yak him Chuck holds the zone pressured by Tassie,
and that forced the Linnenwood defenseman to send it back
to his deep partner Ramsey too. Then the Badger steel
lind Mark looking for hornback back pressure though from Ganyon
knocked that pass free. Horbock was screaming coming down the
(01:17:33):
left wing and the pass just late getting there. Finley
able to take the puck back the Badger's shoals now
steps to his left into the offensive zone. He comes
left wing, he'll spin it around to the right wing wall.
Carras steps in. Ganyon meets him on the near side
boards one of the defensemen, Ramsey just blew a tire
and he falls down again. Something maybe wrong with his skate.
(01:17:54):
And still though the Lion's able to get the puck
out to center and Ramsey will head after it. Jean Ramsey,
freshman from Toronto, played for the Madison Capitals, also the
Philadelphia Rebels of the North American Hockey League, spend time
with a Chipwa Steel in twenty two twenty three season
as well.
Speaker 5 (01:18:13):
I saw him play there once, but I haven't did
not get the opportunity to see him when he was
with the Capitals for whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
Mentioned last night, he Ramsey played with the Philadelphia Rebels.
Their head coach is Justin Hale, a Stoton, Wisconsin native.
What weer uw Stevens point pointer oh long range shot
out high by Kouchen and kicked aside by Bartiskevitch. Boy,
he looks calm in between the pipes, moving side to side,
(01:18:43):
no wasted motion. Bartis Kevitch has been very solid for Lindenwood,
and now a breakout passed a Ganyon up towards Zilkey,
whacked at away from Paladachuck walks in left playing, finds
an open man and hammers at home. Little head and
shoulder fake by zild Key setting up Ganyon. No one
picked him up and from the Slotty beat Grammar. It's
(01:19:05):
too nothing linden Wood.
Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
That was as pretty a fake as you could see.
Both the Badger defenseman or the Badger backchecking forward and
the defenseman stood up on it. And I think Grammy
was even into a situation where he was going to
go down because he thought that the shot was going
to be taken from the side, and it was just
a sweet little pass so that Ganion could pop it
(01:19:27):
in the open net. That was as pretty a play
as you're going to see in a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
Ethan Zilke, who scored the first goal for lyndon Wood,
assists on the second. Captain David Ganyon likes the lamp
at two thirty one and it's two nothing Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
So technically a two on three.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
Yeah. The Badgers, who have been playing from behind all weekend,
face another two goal deficit, and the energy that was
in this building has dropped considerably. Yes, and you have
to hope that it doesn't happen on the Wisconsin bench
right now.
Speaker 5 (01:20:05):
No, I don't think so. I don't know how many
second guessers they have. There's too many new players for
me to see how their body language is gonna dictate
what they do.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Morrisey to take the face off, wins it back to
Lotch in the Wisconsin zone and the set play up
the wall to Moseley. The bouncing puck eventually picked up
by Morrissey. Morrissey, trying to make an escape move on
the left wing, now bumps it out to the point
and Lodch faked right, came back left, shot off a
stick and then the left leg of Barniskevitch. That was
a good play, good tip miss going over that left
(01:20:38):
pad by just a couple of inches. Badgers pass it
up near side, tassy, little scoop ahead by Lotch. Morrissey's
passed off the skate of Pappen back into the linen
Wood zone. Tassy then over skates, Paps got on an
Anthony Caer met him with a big time check, long
range shot on goal. Barniskevitch saved rebound, picked up Lindmark
(01:20:59):
and brought care. He's denied by the stick of Bardiskevitch.
Tooga looks tonight from Anthony.
Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
Kerr and a great hit lyn Mark.
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Now try to dump it in Schakowski. The linesman got
hit again, lookout and now a steel pap. Two on
three pap left wing shot, Grammar save repbound just wide
by Southgate. Shoals didn't tie him up. Southgate got his
stick on it but miss the nuts. Lind Mark gets
it center ice now caught on a backhand by Horbock.
Badgers on side down to nothing and a shot by
(01:21:29):
Horbock not much on it, easy glove saved by Bartiskevitch
and a face off to come. A little pushing and
shoving afterwards. Four oh two into the second period, lyndon
Wood leads Wisconsin by the score of two to nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:21:43):
That was a pretty good shift for that line in particular,
but on the turnover and the initial shot, I thought
for sure the Badgers were going to get that rebound
and score, but it happens fitz Gerald kouchin in, Botterrel
out there for the Badgers, Pa Lota, Chuck and dex
Sheimer face off to Bartis Skevitch's left. That play just
(01:22:04):
initiated by the big hit by Anthony kerr Man. He
rocked that kid.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
He did. Here's canyon across the line after Cozma had
won the draw from Fitzgerald for the Badgers get the
puck back in their own zone. Fitzgerald's pass off a
stick kept a lie by Platachuck patiently kooking in with
it and now deck Zheimer up the near side wall
will send it to the corner. Nobody there for the Badgers.
Proudy for Lindenwood immediately converged upon by Botterrel, but reverses
(01:22:30):
to Yakimchuk, who turned it over stick handling Henzler in
the slot. He got tripped up, fell down, run down
far corner by Bottrel, Freshman forward twenty nine goals for
Youngstown in the USHL a year ago. Behind the net,
Fitzgerald knocked down. Try to push it towards the net
instead behind the cage. It goes bottrel now slot kukin
and handcuffed by the pass tried to shoot, had nothing
on it, and it slowly slid to the goaltender. Bartas
(01:22:54):
Kevitch covered and then Fitzgerald knocked down and some whistles
there as the Badgers and Lions mixing it up a bit,
but no pedalties forthcoming. Fifteen twelve to go on the second,
still to nothing now linden Wood.
Speaker 5 (01:23:07):
On the street. That would have been called uh, mugging,
I'm in front. Yeah, They're not gonna back down from anybody.
Linden Wood seems to be very comfortable with the fact
that their job, especially in front of the net, is
to protect the net and their goaltender, and they do
a good job at it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
Badgers whin the offensive zone face off. Heenzler walks the wall,
shoots one blocks, ricocheted to Hipkin one on one with Lodge.
Hipkin left wing good stick by Lodge to knock get free,
but Hipkin able to get a deep shoal first there
for the Badgers. Dick tied up but hands off to
Hnsler with a head of steam across the line, he
comes Leskowsky on side. Here's shoal now Shoal stumbles but
(01:23:49):
maintains possession around behind the net to Leskowski. He's hog
tied by the defenseman cool and then it's taken away
by Zilky. Snaps off the pass Hipgen left wing across
the Badger line, met by Hensler. Zilky keeps it alive.
Puck then came free Tyson. Dick's got it for the Badgers,
looking left wing, and Shoal gained the red line, dumps
(01:24:10):
it in. He'll change Dick on the four check So's
less cosking, but Hipkin actually tried to clear and fail.
Bounces off the end boards towards the front of the net.
Bartis Skevitch covering the near posts. Hipkin's got it now
from behind, stripped by Moseley, Pope free, Anderson's got it
weaves passed a Badger or too, and dumps it in.
(01:24:32):
Fourteen minutes left here in the second, Badger's trailing two nothing.
Ethan Zilkey scored in the first, and then he set
up David Ganyon's goal. Early in the second. Bucket center
Anthony Kerr just ran into the arm of his teammate
Simon Tassi, whose stick appeared to be caught up in
the skates of Yakumchuk Ryland Moseley stick Candling sends it
(01:24:56):
to the corner in the Lindenwood zone, but the Lions
go there first. They rim it around. Now Raizler feeds ahead,
deflected by Vockler deep into the Wisconsin zone. They change
Badgers plenty of time in space. Dex Sheimer head Man's
off the stick of Morrissey and it slowly rolls to
the goal tender Bartiskevitch and he just covers with thirteen
(01:25:18):
twenty five to go here in this period. Only two
shots on goal for Lindenwood so far in this frame,
but they scored on one of them. The Badgers have
seven shots but have yet to solve Bartiskevitch here tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:25:30):
He's been the difference maker, There's no question about it.
The Badgers have here in the second period. I have
have gotten better quality shots, but again no rebounds, no
tip ends, no deflections.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
Face off to the left of the Lindenwood net, minor
Ow and Lindmark to take the draw. Badgers have won
nineteen of twenty six face offs so far tonight lind
Mark five out of seven in the circle. He lost
this one though wo man Lindenwood out of his zone
off the gate of pap it directs into the Wisconsin end.
(01:26:03):
He ties up the Badger's defenseman deck Sheimer. Puck kicked
free to Pullata Chuck and here's horback. Now Scoops had passed.
Yakumchuk takes a shoulder from southgate, but running down the
puck is Finley with speed, tries to feed back to
the point and it goes off the stick and bounces
out to center. Badgers after regroup, tough break. It was good.
Speaker 5 (01:26:21):
Play was set up well, everything except the final SHOT's.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
Dex Sheimer now able to send it in and eludes
the stick of Bartiskevitch behind the net, tracked down by
Linn Mark left wing and looking out high to the
blue line. Lynn Mark possessing the puck. Protecting the puck
hands off now to Hensler right hander on his backhand.
Now fourhand whistles won. That got blocked taken down in
front of the net was Wisconsin's finley by Ramsey hammered, yeah,
(01:26:48):
he went down on his side and back came up
and whacked Ramsey. The referee let him play on and
now a steel at center by Pap and he'll lift
it into the Wisconsin zone of the badger will give
Chase Pencler with it, lobs it ahead, bottl over his head.
Piedla can't reach it. Oneman now has it. Game winner
(01:27:09):
last night for Londmon came early in the second period
of puck that went rolling up the stick of Scarfhony
and into the air and off the body of London
and in Steele. Look out Pap setting up londonon and
he hit the far post. How did he get wide
open like that? Inside the hashmarks out to the point
(01:27:31):
Barshov's shot blocked by Piedla trying to run it down.
Lindonwood had a three on two for a moment, but
a bad pass taken away Piela scoop pass ahead and
tended for Fitzgerald. He slowed it and then sliding with
it Onkensman who and he grabbed it and he pulled
it into his body as he's sliding on the ice.
(01:27:51):
That should be a penalty.
Speaker 5 (01:27:52):
It is, Uh, the backside referee saw the entire thing, so.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
Yeah, yep, grabbed it and pulled it in good defensive play,
preventing Fitzgerald from getting clear possession of the puck, but
when he was sliding on his belly, he grabbed it
and then pulled it underneath him sliding on the ice.
So the Badgers get another cutest power play at the
eight to twenty eight mark. Again, I want to hear soon, right,
(01:28:21):
we need something, something good to happen. Wisconsin sends out Morrissey,
botteril kukin in Dick and Pulada Chuck running the point
right now Morrisey left wing out the Pulada. Chuck looks
right back left Morrissey top of the circle back klaudachuck
is blast partially blocked behind the nets, retrieved by kukan
(01:28:43):
in to the left wing in Morrissey. Wisconsin down two nothing.
Nearing the midway point of this game. Here in Madison,
Tyson Dick top of the right circle, cross ice.
Speaker 5 (01:28:50):
Nice catch.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
Morrissey stepping in toepoll shot didn't get it off, and
then he tried to pass backside to Dick and didn't
get through Badrews hold. Though Dick now finds Morrissey top
of the circle. Pull out of Chuck. Oh he hammers
want to hit the defenseman in front loose puck. Botter
looking looking delaying shooting off the glove of part of Skevitch.
He was sliding to the goal line looking for opening.
Here's plotachuck down his shot off his stick. It bounces
(01:29:12):
to the right of Bartiskevitch, cook it and knocked down.
He can't get the puck, but he able to poke
it over to Morrissey. Now pull outa chuck right wing dick.
His shot off of stick, slides the part of Skevitch
and he covers.
Speaker 5 (01:29:23):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
Excellent puck movement and chances for the Badger's second power
play unit. But Lindenwood keeps it out of the back
of its own net.
Speaker 5 (01:29:30):
Yeah, and uh, kind of stumble upon themselves. But I
really like the fact that they see that Lyndon Wood
is backing up with three men and only one guy
is up top. So they're playing catch and when they
get that initial shot, everybody else is running to the
net for rebounds. And they did a good job.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
It was a good job they saw off to the
left of bartiskevitche twenty one shots on goal for Wisconsin,
but down two. Notice in dex Sheimer off the face
off right wing Fitzgerald. If he eats it back to
Dexheimer straight away left wing. Finley sets and shoots and
that shot blocked. Defenseman broke his stick. Barshov gets the
stick of the forward on this pedalty kill Pap shot
(01:30:10):
by dex Sheimer off the leg of Pap. Now Tassi
able to run it down. Dexheimer with it forty five
seconds left in the man advantage. Badger's down a pair.
Tassy fires one and fend it off with a right
shoulder of Bartis Skevitch and into the protective netting based
off to come in the Lindenwood zone. Two nothing Lions
ten thirteen.
Speaker 5 (01:30:29):
To go on the period that power play unit that
was just out there, and they're being changed now for
the initial one. But we get into a situation where
a lot of perimeter shots but nothing in front of
the net that was doing anything. Nobody was getting anything
for rebounds, nobody was getting deflections. Pretty easy penalty powerplay
to kill.
Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
Badgers win to draw a lot of chucks. Shot blocked,
looked out, it's poked a head partial break now for
Jake Southgate. He comes in two Badgers trailaying hand of
stuff made by Grammy. He tried to beat him plub
side over the path, big stop by Granma, shorthanded breakaway
by Southgate and I by the Badgers sophomore Nutliner and
then Kuchin and just got clobbered near side by Anderson
(01:31:10):
as the puck was sent all.
Speaker 5 (01:31:11):
The way down but out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
Yep, out of play, out of bounds. I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
They saw down to the Lindenwood zone.
Speaker 5 (01:31:20):
It's kind of been football mentality out here, so out
of bounds is not that far sketching the truth that far. Yeah,
it has been some very vicious hits here.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
In tonight's game, Lynn Mark, Horback and Finley with Karen
Shoals on the ice for the Badgers. Here's Zilky now
to take the face off with Lynn. Mark and Zilke
want it back. No, Finley will go to get it
in the corner, looking out to the point and Shoals
quickly far side care back to Shoals center point, fans
off to his left right wing. Finley steps in shot
(01:31:53):
blocked by Yakamchuck behind the net. Horback dug it free,
Finley walking the line back behind the net. Finley with
it can no place to shoot, power plays expired. Finley
with it left wing. Now he rises one too high
over the right sholder of Bartiestriva out how of the
box comes cool ends off Silky, pressured by care who
shoves him away from the puck, but Silky able to
(01:32:14):
hold it for a moment before throwing it to the
stick of Wisconsin's Horbonck badrews zero for three on the
power play, still scoreless, down two nothing, nine to ten
to go. Second period.
Speaker 5 (01:32:25):
I was fearing for the life of number eight because
zac Shulez dumped it in and was on a mission.
He was going to put that guy through the end
of the rink.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
It's Jarman, Thomas Jarman up the near sign and hustling
back Leskowsky preventing John Adam of John Evans from getting it,
and then the bads Hensler just coughed it up in
the offensive zone. A whistling shot from the right wing
by Hipken missed the net. Now Evans thrown down by Shoals,
(01:32:55):
no penalties on his hands and knees Shoals helping that
Hensler can help out instead the puck take it away
by pap. He fans at a shot attempt from the
right half boards taken away by Ensler, long lead feed
for shol Good read that time by the defenseman Borschow
to intercep. Now he's tied up Byleskowski who had his
stick being held by Borschaw. And they're gonna call it
(01:33:16):
Onleskowsky or Borschov. They were doing it to one another
Borshoff and he's gonna go. Yes, another penalty on Linden
would another cuenest power play. When we come back, the
Badger's down two nothing, eight to eighteen to go in
the second. This is Badger hockey from Learfield.
Speaker 27 (01:33:33):
Badgers are born brave. They're not afraid to face a
tough opponent or take on the impossible. At UW Health
Carbone Cancer Center, our team of doctors take on cancer
with that same badger stamina. Where others step back, we
step up, researching, treating, and defeating even the most complex cancers,
making us the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in
(01:33:53):
the state. So now from stadium to hospital, you can
count on Wisconsin and UW Health to fight and win.
UW you Health Carbone Cancer Center remarkable.
Speaker 38 (01:34:04):

(01:34:27):
dot com today to join those.
Speaker 5 (01:34:28):
Of this cup.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Touchdown Wisconsin arc to Forshaw holding the stick of Cody
Leskowski at eleven forty two. Baggers get their fourth power
play they've yet to score tonight, down to nothing to
the Lindenwood Lions, eight eighteen left in the second based
(01:34:51):
off of the offensive zone. Fitzgerald got his stick on it,
but not enough to get it to a teammate, and
Lindenwood plays it out to center ice. It's Deck Sheimer, Finley,
mostly Fitzgerald and Tassi Finley in the attacking zone left half.
Boards fell down played by Prouty, but not much on
that one headed pass. Tassy reverses to the right wing
(01:35:13):
now and Fitzgerald walks down towards the goal line, peels
away from pressure out to Dexzheimer. Now left wing Finley
looking backside open, Fitzgerald catches off his skate to his
stick and shut it off the side of the net.
Tried to go a short side high on Bartis Skevitch
and just missed.
Speaker 5 (01:35:30):
Yeah, if he would have caught that cleanly, it would
have been a no brainer. It was going to go
right up where it has been. But when because he bobbled,
it gave Bartiskevitch time to get across.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
It's a different look power play the Badgers have shown
here in the first couple of games. Spreading out in
an umbrella backside kookin and catches low right, no place
to shoot, no place to pass, stick candles and flips
it over to Dick out to Plata Chuck now straight
away refeeds Dick left wing, pressured by pap backside pass
intended for Morrissey, knocked free, but Dick retrieves forty eight
(01:36:00):
seconds to go on the power play. Badger's trailing by
a pair. Dick to the point and pull out of Chuck.
Looks right wing now to Morrissey, way out high. Now
he'll step towards the dot to the goal line. Kuchen
and tried to shovel one in front that got knocked
down and then knocked out the center, good hold by
polata Chuck. No, he walks the line. Pladachuck right wing.
Morrissey steps to the slot backside passed for Dick. Too
(01:36:22):
far for him. He's able to run it down far side.
Pulata Chuck right wing. Morrissey stick handling away from Pap
peels back to his left straight away pulata Chuck. No
place to shoot now, Dick with it. He sets in
fires that got blocked. It's up in the air, kook
and and looking for it. Bartiskevitch found it and then
grabbed it and rolled around in his crease and got
the whistle.
Speaker 33 (01:36:44):
That was good.
Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
About about a nine point five on the Academy Awards
saves as far as the theatrics was concerned, I guess.
But again the Badgers are getting perimeter shots, but nothing
after it's done.
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
Twelve seconds left on the power play, Badgers trailing two nothing,
six and a half minutes left in the second period.
Based off to Bartis, Skevitch is right. He's made twenty
three saves tonight. On twenty three Badger bids Linnenwood wins
the defensive zone face off and clears it all the
way down to the Badgers now zero for four on
the power play and one for nine this weekend. Back
(01:37:19):
to full strength our shot out of the box. He'll
skate across to the bench and he'll be replaced by
Alex Lindman. Oh what chance for care down the middle?
Waffled away by Bartis Skevitch. Anthony Kerres had three great
eight chances tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:37:34):
Yeah, he's been good and that one was a missed
backhand pass and the defenseman misread it and he allowed
him to walk right down the middle. But Bartashevitz, as
you would see, was right out at the top of
the crease. It's going to take more than Anthony Kerre's
little high risk shot to beat him from there.
Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Let's pause ten seconds for station identification, ten seconds for
a legal ID. You're listening to Wisconsin Badger hockey.
Speaker 30 (01:38:00):
Excuse me, sorry, I was enjoying the game, he sees
Badger hockey. I'm thirteen to ten wid a man, all
right now, I'm gonna keep listening.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Brian Posicky and Parrin here in Madison. The Badger's trail
Lindenwood to nothing after losing the season opener last night
four to two steal by Lindmark behind the net from
the left goal line. He shot it off the far post.
Latch indep, he wraps it around. Did he beat him?
Speaker 3 (01:38:25):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
He tried to go five hole off his pads to
the near wall. Thought Latch with that long reach might
be able to tuck it in there. Now Grandma on
a long range shot able to block it away. Bouncing
puck in front Evans. He got knocked down before he
could shoot it. The Badger's reverse and Piedle has now
got it. Pienala hands off to Hinsler. Up the middle
(01:38:46):
of the ice, comes Logan. Hnsler off to his right,
tries to get past Borchchaf He did, he got knocked down.
No penalty, trying to draw an interference. He's hurting too,
He's hurting a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:38:56):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
Borchoff now hit by Shoal as he releases a pass
far side. I intercepted by dex Sheimer, taken back by Henzler.
Piedla now will dump it in you on the fourth check,
goes Shoal. He got shoved down before he was anywhere
near the puck. No penalty, and Zilke's got it now,
Theskowsky on him Zilky skates with one hand on his
stick and lost possession of the badger's back the other way.
(01:39:18):
Now Yakum Chuck had a step on. Shol got to
the puck and played it back for his dep partner,
but then he turned it over dex Sheimer farside pull
out of Chuck. He's stick handling, stuters stepping, leaves it
off left wing for dex Sheimer. Dex Sheimer walks around
the defenseman back behind the net. Tried to feed it
in front. He does now in a chance for Piedla
and he fanned out it. No, that was Liskoski. Yes,
(01:39:40):
Shol Good hustle to keep it alive, and now it's
played back out to neutral ice and it's sent back
Wisconsin's way four twenty to go. It's not for a
lack of effort or chances here tonight for Wisconsin. But
Badgers have yet to score and in danger of getting
swept on home ice by linden Wood. Feed in front,
Coopkin and rake the wreck just why under the right
(01:40:01):
arm of bartis Kevitch Good look by Tyson Dick out
to neutral ice. It comes now pops into the air
and brought down by Proudy d to d to Anderson.
Headman's now to Cosma harder than that London, but to
pass by Cosma out of his reach. Now Botterrel pokes
it ahead one on two. Botterrel fights through a stick
(01:40:21):
check of Ganion, leaves it off kocon It puts it
under the stick of Ganyon had it stripped off his stick,
and then he got knocked down and snapped his stick
in hand. Three thirty five to go on the period,
Cosmo will skate out of his own end, but then
Morrissey got in his way. His pass blocked back into
the Badger's offensive zone. Borel Steel low right shoots one
right pad sad made by Bartiskevitch goodness and then flipped
(01:40:46):
back to neutral ice three point fifteen left Logan Henzler
to Anthony Kerr up to morris He tried to drag
it off the wall while back pedaling. No luck care
took it away at center to Finley. Finley's backhand past
taking away look out alert sets and five five hole
and Grandma put his pads together and made this stop
(01:41:09):
two and nothing linnon Wood three to zero two to
go a turnover at the defensive blue line and aler
a partial break that Grandma was able to close down.
Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
Yeah, that was a turnover and neutral ice you never
want to see, especially late in the period like this
with only three zho two left, you're down by two
and thank you, thank you, thank you, William Grandma face.
Speaker 2 (01:41:33):
Off to William's right, eleven saves, beg your pardon, nine
saves on eleven shots tonight for William, Gramma, Pap and
Morrissey to take the face off Badger's twenty four out
of thirty four tonight, but they lose this one offensive
zone Ramsey his blast club by Grandma and another face
off to come. William Grandma made his day ABU November
(01:42:02):
of twenty fifth of twenty twenty three against Anchorage and
he shut out the Sea Wolves, making twenty five saves
two to zero to one last year with a one
thirteen goals against in a nine to fifty nine save percentage,
but didn't see the ice much because of the play
of Kyle McClellan, the All American and Mike Richter Award winner. Yeah,
(01:42:24):
I did, okay, he was all right, yes, and Linnenwood
I think is just ice the puck that is the case. Yeah,
McClellan was was okay. Last year. He won twenty four games,
tied for fifth most in a single season by a
Badger goaltender. He had a one ninety four goals against average,
which was second best all time in a single season,
(01:42:45):
and his nine thirty one save percentage also was number
two all time by a Badger's goaltender.
Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
And all the rest of those records were held by
Dave McNabb. Yeah sure, John Lambe, Yeah yeah, John Levy,
Dave McNabb, Suir, Kip Pendleton.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
How about uh, mister Bryan Elliott.
Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Yeah he did, okay, okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
Yeah, four box steel offensive zone. Tried to place it
in front, went off of stick and then paddled away
by the goaltender. And then another icing, this time by Southgate.
And with two twenty two to go in the period,
the Badgers with an offensive zone face off and will
build a cult call a time out. The first year
head coach, former Michigan Wolverine National championship player and assistant
(01:43:29):
coach decides, Nope, we're gonna let the guys stay out there.
So boord Shaw's out there with Oohl. Defensively, Southgate is
skating with pap and Evans Veterans players try to win
the puck and clear, and they app did a nice
job beating lynn Mark and the face off circle. Southgate
skates to the red line, dumps it in and the
Lions get a full change although they had too many
(01:43:52):
men on the ice and they let them do it.
Ryland Mosley Headman's to deck Zeimer, who was forced back
behind the net and tried to refeed. Most had a
whistle and six men on the ice, yep, and they're
going to get linden Wood.
Speaker 5 (01:44:04):
Yeah, they did, because if it wouldn't have been for
the fact that the puck was on that side, I
don't think anybody would have realized that there were six
men on the ice. But he was in position to
play the puck before he got to the door, and
the other guy had already come out and was inside
the near Blue Lion. So I don't know who they'll
officially blame it on, but what it was one of them,
(01:44:29):
Excuse me, it was one of the forwards who came
off prematurely and the other former came off much later
than anticipated.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
Seventeen fifty five too many men on the ice against
linden Wood served by j Mercya. So the Badgers get
their fifth power play of the night, but Lindenwood wins
the face off and sends it all the way down.
Linnen Wood with kind of a one three structure in
their penalty kill as Wisconsin comes up through the neutral zone,
drop past more seat, skates ross Wisconsin on side, try
(01:45:01):
to get through three lions and fail, and Lindenwood clears
out the center. Badger's down a pair Tyson Dick slowed
by Prouty, stolen by Lindenwood, and the defenseman Anderson flings
it all the way down. The Badgers trying to stick
candle through traffic to get and get this zone, to
get his zone entry and set things up, and it's
(01:45:23):
not working.
Speaker 5 (01:45:24):
And when you're on the powerplay, it's two men on
the puck no matter what.
Speaker 2 (01:45:27):
Yep. Here's Tassy across the line, fans off left and
muffed it, turn it over and Lindenwood scoops it right
back down. So far no good with his power play.
A minute left in the man advantage, one five left
in period number two, Badgers down two zip Roseley across
the line flips it left wing Findley nice catch. Out
of mid air, back behind the net, Quinn Finley out
(01:45:49):
to the right circle. Fitzgerald Badgers finally set up shot,
got through save made by Barnis Skevitch and knocked free
by Lindenwood diving to try to hold his Fitzgerald, but
that freed the puck. Now here comes with a backhand
shot ty Hipkin, and he lifted it off the side
of the net. I mean a nice try by Fitzgerald,
but there was nobody behind to help him. Here's a
pass Moseley backside passy bouncing puck to the slot. Finley,
(01:46:11):
slow living shot, he scores.
Speaker 5 (01:46:14):
How did that go in?
Speaker 2 (01:46:21):
Fitzgerald found Moseley backside left Tassie. He found Finley right
through the middle and Quinn fumbled it, but then stuck
a little backhander between the pads of Bartes Scavitch, a
power play goal and the Badgers within one.
Speaker 5 (01:46:34):
It looked like Bartiskevitch went down to try and block
her with his stick, but the stick never made it
parallel to the ice, So between the knob of his
stick and uh maybe his right pad, that's where it
ends up sneaking in. Sometimes it's better to be lucky
than good.
Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
Finley from Simon Tassy and Rylan Moseley at nineteen twenty six.
Badgers get on the board late second period. It's a
two one game that after Ty Hipkin's Marshall breakaway hit
the side of the nets. I was saying that Fitzgerald
with excellent hustle, trying to hold his own, but he
(01:47:12):
had no reinforcement behind behind him, and Hipkin got a breakaway.
Horbock stick Candling had his stick slashed out of his hand.
Penalty on linden Wood four seconds to go on the period,
and then linden Wood's Genyon just crushed Hornbach at neutral ice,
and a couple of Hornbock's teammates come to his defense,
(01:47:32):
Lynn Mark and care. So the Badgers will at least
get a five on four power play when the third
period begins, but maybe Ganyon will get an extra could.
Speaker 5 (01:47:44):
Be a five on three. You're right, exactly the case,
because Horbach was trying to dump the puck in and
he just got buried by Ganyon. And I don't maybe
from last night's game, I saw the rong Ganyon. I'm
not sure, but he was kind of the playmaker and
the speech tonight he spends more time in the penalty
box than he does on his own bench.
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
Oh, the Badgers get a power play goal from Quinn Finley. Oh,
slow moving backhander that's split the pads. Cosman gets two
minutes for slashing. And we'll see if the referees take
a look at the hit from behind on Horbock. But
Finley from Tassie and Ryland Mosley at nineteen twenty six.
(01:48:24):
There's some life in the building, and there's some life
in the Wisconsin locker room. It's two to one linden
Wood after two periods of play back in a minute.
This is Badger hockey from the airfield.

After two periods of the Coal Center Wisconsin Trails, Linden
would two to one. It was one nothing Lions after
one and then David Ganyon beat William Gramma at two
thirty one, juststed by Ethan Zilkey, first go to the
year for Ganion, so it was two nothing. Lyndon, one
of the Badgers, kept mounting in an attack sixteen shots
on goal in the second period, three successive power plays.
(01:50:07):
They finally score on their last one Quinn Finley is
first of the year from Simon Tassy and Rylan Moseley
at nineteen twenty six. And then Drew Kuzma or Cosma
that is ku Zma took a slashing penalty at the
twenty minute mark of the second so the Badgers will
get their sixth power play it'll start off the second
(01:50:27):
period of full two minutes and their fourth in a row.
They will have six power play chances to lyndon Wood's
won so far. Badgers though down by one after two.
Speaker 5 (01:50:36):
And I would venture to say that the coach of
Lyndenwood is not unfamiliar with this. Was as physical as
they play and as tight man to man as they play,
and it's going to be kind of a chess match.
I guess if you want not a chess match, but
a rugby match in every situation one on one, so
(01:50:58):
you get into a position where you're going to expect
to take penalties. And that's probably why their penalty kill
has been so darn good.
Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
Yeah, the Badgers have only converted once in nine power
play once in ten power play tries so far. Again,
shots on goals second period sixteen to seven. Partiskevitch stopped fifteen.
He's made twenty six saves through two periods. William Gramma
six saves. In the second period. He stopped eleven of
thirteen Lions bids Badgers down to one, but get a
(01:51:26):
power play to start the third period. Second intermission is next.

Bryan Poseagan Perrin at the Cole Center. Third period underway.
The Badgers get a power play to start out, trailing
two to one, but struggling to get the puck in
the offensive zone. Now Finley with speed gets it to
the corner. He's met by yakumchuck and tumbles down back
up on his skates for the puck, slides free to
Christoph pap and he sends it all the way down
and the Badgers will change their power play unit. Wisconsin
(02:02:40):
won for five on the man advantage so far. The
cosma slashing penalty at the twenty minute mark gave the
Badgers this man advantage, but they've been struggling since they've
come out of the locker room. Morrisey just fell down
with the aid of Zilkey stick. But we play on
in the corner. Tyson Dick trying to knife it free,
getting some help from Kyle kup In. Prouty out muscles
(02:03:01):
Couchon in the puck, goes to the far corner and
once again linden Wood flings it all the way down.
Speaker 5 (02:03:07):
And you're in a situation where there's three men on
the buck, but there's also four linden Wood guys. They
just full time garage sale.
Speaker 2 (02:03:15):
Badger's long lead feeded. Tyson Dicky got his stick on
the puck, but the linden Wood goes back to get it.
Then the Badger's cooking in with a steal. Wisconsin's plata
chuck swings it left side, Morrissey outside the left circle.
Power play winding down a lot of chuck back to
the left circle, walking to the dot all alone forris
He shoots one. Oh, it went off. Something and wide.
I don't know if he hit a stick or one
(02:03:35):
of the Lindenwood players. Now botterlsit's one hid been their
post reapound a temp by Couconon pushed it through the
paint lead feed. Look out Badger's pack on the five
on five long range shot high slot by Ganyon, missed
the nets. Cosma throws it out to the point Anderson
walks the line. One timer by Ganyon. He fan it
bounces off the end boards to Grandma and he covers,
(02:03:59):
Oh goodness, Morrissey. All of a sudden, the seed just
parted and he walked down towards the net. And then
Bonrel got a chance wide open and his shot hit
the post.
Speaker 5 (02:04:11):
You could hear it all the way up here. We're
in the second concourse and it was a Kadan big time.
Speaker 2 (02:04:16):
Oh they're getting chances, yep. But Wisconsin failed to convert
on the power play. Now one for six into a
two to one linden Wood lead. Early third period. Here
at the Cole Center, Wisconsin face off Linn Mark Henzler
engaged with Hipken but comes free to Daniel Lodge, pressured
(02:04:38):
behind the net by Mercia and now Pensler will bank
it out the center. It bounces over the stick of Hipken.
Here's lind Mark his shot. Good stick by Anderson that
goes up over the glass and out of play. Based
off the Lindenwood Zone. Lions lead to one. Trying to
sweep the Badgers after beating a nationally ranked team for
the first time ever last night.
Speaker 5 (02:05:00):
Would be a large feather in a small cap. Yeah,
to say the least.
Speaker 2 (02:05:04):
It's the third year of Division one hockey for the
linen Wooden Lions. Here's Fitzgerald now with Moseley and peterla
Here is Mosley walking right dot His shot hit the
goalie in the head, went up ten feet in the air,
down behind the net. It's Joe Prouty now for the Lions.
Speaker 5 (02:05:26):
Knock some sense into the young man.
Speaker 2 (02:05:27):
Piedle Is stick snapped in half Badger Steele at center.
Moseley tried to hand off to Fitzgerald. He pushed it
to the corner Anderson beat him to the puck. Good
work by Anderson. He's so long at six foot five,
much like Daniel Lotch. He's played very well here this weekend.
Now Anthony Kerr slows the puck as it slides along
the Wisconsin kickplate now shoals one, hands it ahead for Moseley,
(02:05:52):
who whacks it out to neutral ice the angle. It
passed across the line right wing path cuts the slot,
shoots one off the glove of Grandma and it goes
behind the nets.
Speaker 5 (02:06:01):
It's a hard safe to make. The player's going one
way and he shoots back the other way.
Speaker 2 (02:06:06):
Zack Schulz now lobs it ahead, hoping that Piedlick can
handle the bouncing puck. It bounces around a little bit.
It's loose in the slot over skating Dick gathered in
by Ganyon. Ganyon across the line, drop pass right wing.
It's London. He'll shoot one low put in front. Grandma
out of position going down with Cosma. Couldn't get a
stick on the puck, and it's bank to head to
Simon Tassy one on one with the defenseman. Ramsey takes
(02:06:28):
a whack of his skates. Oh, here's Tassy centering one
to Tyson Dick, but he goes down with back pressure
from Ganyon and now linden Wood the other way will
fling it in and get a change.
Speaker 5 (02:06:40):
Not one sign of panic by Lyndon Wood. No, as
soon as they turned it over. Just get good going back.
Speaker 2 (02:06:45):
Here's Linn Mark in the attacking zone left wing, peels
back on his forehand, cycles off the wall for pull
out of Chuck, sends it to the corner. Now in Finley.
Finley takes a cross check in the back from Ramsey.
He leans back into Ramsey, trying to gain possession of
the puck. Finley needs break. You'll head to the Badger's bench.
Fifteen and a half minutes left in the hockey game.
Back after down two to one. Plata Chuck long range
(02:07:06):
shot too high, dex Sheimer pinches in, skates it back
behind the cage. Ben dex Sheimer with it low left,
now out high left, hands off to plata Chuck. Dex
Sheimer wants it back. Plata Chuck fans the pass, runs
it down, pitched it to the right wing in dex
Sheimer tried to set up his teammate Lindmark out of
his reach and eventually it trickles free to Mitch Allard.
(02:07:27):
Allard will send it into the Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 5 (02:07:30):
Wind it up.
Speaker 2 (02:07:31):
Brian yan botterrel ran into Hipkin, sent back Wisconsin's way.
Now Henzler with it up the middle, he goes almost
caught on a fly by Kouchin In it, trickled off
his stick all the way to the Lindenwood net and
Bardis Skevitch will cover in an offensive zone, face off
coming four. Wisconsin down two to one, fourteen fifty three
left here in period number three.
Speaker 5 (02:07:53):
I think that coach would be pleased with the amount
of energy and h opportunities that we've had here in
the first five minutes.
Speaker 2 (02:08:03):
Shots on goal thirty to fourteen in favor of Wisconsin.
Motterrel hit the cross of the near side post. A
little while ago, Gavin Morrissey had a grade A chance
that was stopped and went through the crease. Fuck one
of the offensive zone by Shoal with Horback and Morrissey.
(02:08:25):
Like casting's mixing things up here a little bit. It's
been effective with getting some opportunities. Horback kicks it free.
Great pass by Morrissey left point to latch, but immediately
defended by Mercia. Now Horbock stutter step moved behind the net,
can't get a lane to the cage. Good defense by
linden Wood. Horbock out h right shoots one low say
made by Bartis, Skevitch and.
Speaker 5 (02:08:46):
Jarmin nables to the far.
Speaker 2 (02:08:50):
No and now Hipken moves it to open ice in
the corner, flipped around by Anderson to the near side.
Launch pinned against the wall by Mercy a. Zilkey there
to help his teammate. So's Jarmin keeping Morrissey from the puck,
and now Horback applies a little pressure on Zilke and
(02:09:10):
eventually it squirts freed to Anderson. His pass to Hipken,
he muffed it, picked up by Morrissey. He mishandled it
taken by Jarmon, sausted over the stick of Horback ahead
now to mercyer he'll scoop it into the Wisconsin zone
and linden Wood gets a change. Now Rylan Moseley on
the ice for the Badgers, pressured from behind by Pap
sends it back into the Wisconsin zone to Shoals. Nice
(02:09:32):
angled pass to the stick of Mosley from Care. Here's
Moseley slot batcan shot stick saved made by Bartiskevitch. Nice
breakout pass to the stick of Southgate. Then Kerr used
his shoulder to wall him off and take the puck
away Care to the red line to the blue He's
knocked off balance be able to get it deep and
now for checking as well.
Speaker 5 (02:09:53):
Yeah, the defense when a're going to have to start
jumping up into the play as time winds down, it's
going to be more important for them to get in.
Speaker 2 (02:10:02):
Now, Southgate carries into the Wisconsin zone mashed against the
wall by Zach Schulz. Care Knife's it free. Leskowsky's passed
for shoals right in front of the badgery Neck goes
through the wickets, and now Finley picks up the loose
buck Quinn Finley can fly and he flies out of
his own zone to the red line to the Lindenwood
Blue line. Left wing, shoots one up high and miss
(02:10:23):
the nets. Every shot has gone up high and most
off target. A lot of chuck flings it back in. Dick.
Nice pass. Here's Finley his shot stick saved made by
Barnas Skevitch. What a pass by Dick blindly right circle,
Finley turn and fire one and Barness Skevitch with a huge, stopped.
Speaker 5 (02:10:41):
Kind of snake bit. Because if there's anybody on the
team you'd like to get those turnover passes, it would
be Finley. And he has not been able to find
the back of the twine. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:10:51):
Well, he did score power play goal on a very
soft moving backhanded shot. He'll take it. Here's Piedla. He
tries to shoot one that goes off the stick and
utters wide of the target. Tassie In trying to work
it free unsuccessfully, and now deck Seimer hands off the Lotch.

the third period, lead feed by Lotch didn't connect, but
no icing call now Racler catches near sidewall, flips it
(02:11:56):
ahead for Allard, but the Badgers have the angle to
the puck in that slogan.
Speaker 46 (02:11:59):
He kin.
Speaker 2 (02:12:02):
Penseler comes out of there with it, skates up to
neutral ice along the left wing wall. Tried to place
it ahead for Tassie, who ran into the defenseman ool
and then three badgers go tumbling over one another on
the near side boards and that freeze the biscuit for Lindenwood.
Bumper bowling. Now Tassy and Ool tied up near side
off balance, shot by Vogler, kicked out by Grandma, gathered
(02:12:25):
in by Wisconsin's shoals. Tried to skate past a pair
of lions. Pop came free, picked up by CocAnon Badgers
with a chance. Coconon slides right day. Yeah, but Morris,
he got spun around by Zilkey, couldn't get a stick down.
Badger still have it. Morrisey puts it in front off
couconon and then to the gold tender part of Skevitch
on his knees, made the stop and covered ten fifty
(02:12:46):
five remaining in the third two to one.
Speaker 5 (02:12:48):
Lindenwood no drop off in intensity even though they were
halfway through the second third period. Badgers are taking shorter
shifts and taking opportunity of some turnovers that have been
created by their intensity.
Speaker 2 (02:13:03):
Morrissey, Kuchanin and Sawyer shol on the ice Silky to
take the draw for linden Wood, and he wins this
face off and it's flipped out of Harm's way by Hipkin.
Hustling after it. Mercia Care on him deep in the
Wisconsin zone should trying to jam it free. Instead it's
(02:13:25):
Anthony Kerr with it. Got enough of it out to center.
Kuchanan can't reach it though, played back towards the benches,
knocked down by Care and he'll fire it into the
offensive zone. Kuchanin try to get there in the near corner,
backs into Jarmin for the puck pop free far side
Mercier between the legs. Breakout found its way to platastruck
Badger's hole backhand shot no look shot by Kuchanin block
(02:13:49):
dex Sheimer now flips it back behind the cage. Lindenwood's
prouty turns back to his right to get away from Kuchanin,
and he sends it to center. Dex Sheimer slows it
down there and the Badger's koochen and has it again.
Halfway through the third, still two to one, linden Wood
ri should Fitzgerald tried to headman to Horbock, but too far.
(02:14:10):
Puck back at neutral. Fitzgerald just sight stupp. The man
comes in slot, his shot high. Horbock just got wiped
out near his side by pap. Puck lifted out through
center and Dexzheimer with it. Evans in pursuit. Dex Sheimer
skates past him left wing. Moseley across the line, drop
past now, Horbock refeeds, Moseley centering pass, goes all the
(02:14:32):
way through the slot. Fitzgerald stumbles down right wing, puck
taken by linden Wood.
Speaker 5 (02:14:37):
It's about the eighth time tonight that Fitzgerald has been
in a situation where he stumbled down.
Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
Moseley steals angles have passed to Horbach. Badgers are they
on side? They are, but the puck bounce is free
to Borshaw, pass ahead to Cosma. Couldn't catch it. Horbock
will dump it in. Badgers will get a change. Two
to one, lions nine ozero five to go. On the third,
Lot pinches in keeps it alive in the attacking zone.
After it, Piedala puts his body into borche Off, who
(02:15:05):
goes down in a pedalty coming up. Oh no, that's terrible, Piela,
that's terrible your shop. We get him from the side
and he's favoring his left arm. The Badger's freshman Adam
Piedlo will take two minutes in the box checking from
behind Lynnon.
Speaker 5 (02:15:23):
We'll get a side. I want to see the replay

Yeah. If you see a replay of this, it was
right up in the face mask and we'll see whether
that can be designated as contact to the head or
what's gonna happen with it. Maybe they will question whether
it should be a five minute major but I doubt it. Yeah,
they're not. Neither coach seems to be too upset with
(02:18:34):
These are the calls.
Speaker 2 (02:18:35):
No elbowing on the defenseman Noah oohle at twelve oh one,
so four on four. For the next fifty nine seconds,
Fitzgerald face off and the offensive zone lost it to Zilkey.
And here comes Lyndon Wood Borschof cross the line, Zilky
on side right wing spot man was wide open. Finley
forgot all about ty Hipkin. Had he caught that pass,
(02:18:57):
he would add a gray age chance, but he didn't.
And now Finley, after the puck of the defensive zone,
tries to skate past Hipkin, knocks him down with the
right shoulder, able to get it deep, but then met
by Borschaw, who shoulders him into the glass. Seven and
a half minutes left, Badger's trailing two to one, four
on four. For another twenty five seconds, Jack Seimer throws
(02:19:18):
it deep off the stick of Fitzgerald, Tied up by
Yakam chuck. He dives to the eyes to keep it
alive and does so to Finley. Now pull outa chuck,
tries to refeed deep, intercepted by Borschaw and now Hipkin,
did he gain the red line? They say no, Well
they say yes, they say yes. Grandma came out of
his net to play it behind no icing, Badgers are
(02:19:39):
going to get a cunic power play right now. Out
of the box comes Piedla. He'll go across into the
offensive zone. Morrissey starts to his right, back behind the net.
Gavin Morrissey, the freshman left handed out to the point.
Henzler catches back left side, Morrissey looking down lowe left
off the skate of Dick, but Morrissey gets there, pitched
it behind the nets. Battling fur at. Kukan In banks

Hensler hit the outside of the right post. Another bar
shot by the Badgers here in this third period down
a goal. Dick's pass low right for kucan In, good
stick by Anderson. It goes up into the netting and
then drops behind the glass to a student in the
student section. She's all happy about that.
Speaker 5 (02:20:23):
Kukanin's got to be in a situation where yes, he
likes to hug the near post so that he can
get that pass. But if the defenseman steps in front,
just go a foot two feet three feet towards the
corner so you can at least get a full firm
pass on your stick and then look up and find
out where people are.
Speaker 2 (02:20:42):
Kucanan just one goal last season at Michigan Tech in
twenty seven games off the draw deck. Sheimer's shot blocked
by linden Wood. Shopped that by Wisconsin Finley. Try to
keep it alive. Partial break potential for Zilky a moment
ago shorthanded, but the puck never got.
Speaker 5 (02:21:00):
He's been a thorn and Bucky's side all night? Has
he not?
Speaker 2 (02:21:03):
Yes? Ethan Zilkey from Calgary, Alberta played for the Humboldt
Broncos last season. Did zilking Badger's game The zone power
play will expire now. Wisconsin now one for seven of
a man advantage, plenty of chances. Badger's hold. Good play
by Fitzgerald, left wing. Finley steps in, block shot, gray
(02:21:24):
bound chance for Mosley that's denied. Back to Finley left wing.
Badger's down one, five forty left in the third. Finley's
out there. He's got it. His shot got through. No
it hit Yakim Chuck the defenseman Tassy and him battling
in front of the nets, playing keep away right wing.
It's Fitzgerald turn around shot that hit Tassy, bat baseball style,
(02:21:45):
Quinn Finley to two. My goodness.
Speaker 5 (02:21:52):
Now there will be a review as to whether it
was hit with a high stick or not.
Speaker 2 (02:21:56):
Oh, Fitzgerald put it in front, actually hit his team
made Tassy. It popped into the air to the right
of the goaltender left wing for me and Ian and
Finley just batted it in left handed baseball swing and
in the open net. It's too too. It was up
near his shoulder. I'm not sure the referee one of them,
(02:22:19):
Samuel or Jonathan Starski went over to talk to Bill mccault.
The head got Lindenwood. Now they will take a look.
That's close. It's gonna be close, Finley from Tassy and Fitzgerald.
An unusual assist for Tassy because the puck went off
(02:22:40):
his body after he was hit by a shot from
his teammate Christoph Fitzgerald. But yard reads Finley from Tassy
and Fitzgerald at the fourteen twenty nine mark Wow referees
David Marcott and Jonathan Sitarski taking a look.
Speaker 5 (02:23:00):
So basically below the shoulders.
Speaker 2 (02:23:02):
Gotta be below the shoulders. Boy, he swung, I mean he.
It wasn't a tomahawk chop that you see sometimes in baseball,
right where you're swinging down or you go up above
your shoulders like Roberto Clemente used to do, or Vladimir
Guerrero senior. They would swing at balls above their head
(02:23:23):
and make contact. That one was about shoulder hype on
Quinn Finley, the six foot sophomore in New York Islanders

Speaker 5 (02:23:57):
Well, one thing about the Badgers this year is that
in in two games, they're keeping everybody in their seats
till the end of the game. Yeah, concession people are
loving them.
Speaker 2 (02:24:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:24:08):
No, it'll be a controversial goal. I said that as
soon as it happened.
Speaker 2 (02:24:12):
But here's David Marcott. Okay, it's a good goal. Yep.
Lindenwood used its time out for the review and Marcott
(02:24:34):
comes out. It took him a little while to formulate
his sentence, but the goal counted. Finley from Tassy and Fitzgerald.
At fourteen twenty nine, we have a tie Bowl game
with five point thirty one left here in the third.
Speaker 5 (02:24:46):
Not much of a public speaker, but a good referee.
Speaker 2 (02:24:51):
Wwinn Finley, who had a hat trick against lynden Wood
last January and the series opener of five nothing Badgers win,
has two against the Lions tonight. After not getting a
single shot on goal last night, Badgers won the face
off its center dumped it in. Now linden Wood sends
it back Wisconsin's way. Shot out shots on goal thirty
six fifteen in favor of Wisconsin too came turnover farside
(02:25:14):
Anderson fired one wide. Zach Schulz got hammered along the
farboards near the Badger bench and he is not doing well.
He heads to the bench and Andy Roadi, the team trainer,
will take a look at him. Lookout, puck is down low.
Speaker 5 (02:25:30):
In though, God, he did a wrapper around and all
the Badgers were standing there looking yep.
Speaker 2 (02:25:34):
Wrapped around. Grandma went down. He got a piece of it.
The puck laid in the paint for a while, but
the Badgers finally cleared it out to center. I was
looking at Zach Schultz. I hope he's okay. Here's proudy.
Now he'll dump it into the corner. It rims around
to the left side. Four and a half minutes left,
Badgers and Lions tied it to Wisconsin, trying to get
a series split to start this season. Pencler with it
(02:25:58):
in his own zone. That man to Morrissey made contact
of the red line. It rolls into the Lindenwood zone
to our left. Kuchin In on the fore check, able
to one hand the puck freeze, got it behind the net,
wants to wrap it around, cut off by Evans.
Speaker 5 (02:26:12):
Got it out the plata.
Speaker 2 (02:26:13):
Chuck spins away from a hit, gave the puck to
botterrel left circle pass for Morrissey out of his reach,
taking back by Lindenwood, intercepted by Kukanin. Kukanon keeps it alive,
shoots one through the low slot. Under four minutes left
Badgers two Lindenwood Lions two Botteril fighting through the hold
of the defenseman Ramsey, and now Evans has the puck,
(02:26:35):
tries to flip it ahead, Pedally got in his way.
The Badgers take it back. Dex Himer red line.
Speaker 5 (02:26:40):
He's got it.
Speaker 2 (02:26:41):
He'll fire it right corner to the left. It bounces
around and Piedla will get there first. Out to the point.
Pulata Chuck met there by Southgate the puck out at center,
hustling after it. Moseley diving for it. Pulata Chuck. It's
loose inside the offensive zone, kept alive by Piedla and
then Poladachuck watched it bounce past him. He reaches for
it and slips it over to deck Simon and here's Moseley.
(02:27:03):
His snapshot didn't get much on it, right off the
toe of the stick. Mosley his shot, Oh, we almost
snuck a short side hit the gold tender Bartis Stevitch
in the chest and he hangs on for a face off.
Speaker 5 (02:27:15):
I had thought it hit the defenseman in front and
then went into the goaltender's chest, but have to see
whoa boy zach.
Speaker 2 (02:27:25):
Zach Schulz headed to the Badger's bench favoring He looks
like a left shoulder. He has shoulder and Andy roading
the team trainer will escort him towards the training room.
Badger's off the face off Horbock with it stick handling
in the slot, thought about shooting and passing, didn't either,
and then he had turned his back to the net
and had to throw it to the corner. Good pinch
(02:27:46):
by Wisconsin's care bumped off balance, Stick's got the puck.
Badger still on side under three minutes, left Wisconsin trying
to unrase it to nothing deficit and pulled out a victory.
Here on home ice, centering passed by Horbock off his stick.
Here's Karsene firing safe made by part of sketch. Rebound
there for a moment, but he covers.
Speaker 5 (02:28:04):
Good job, Anthony Kerr. Not only did he hold the
zone and get into the offensive zone and would get
that puck, but put it upstairs where the goaltender had
to make our stave and possibly give a rebound, and
followed his shot right to the net.
Speaker 2 (02:28:20):
Last night, the Badger suited up seven defensemen. Jack Phalen,
the freshman, was in uniform. Tonight the Badger suited up
thirteen forward, so only six defenseman dressed and with Zack
Schulz out, the Badgers have five d but there's two
forty seven left. In the third, lynn Mark is out there,
Botteril Tassy. Lind Mark wins a draw bottlels one time
(02:28:41):
shot canceled out by the stick of Anderson, and another
face off to come as that crawled up over the glass.
Boy Jack Anderson's been impressed tonight and he's played thirty
plus minutes.
Speaker 5 (02:28:51):
Yeah, he has, and you get into a situation, at
least for us. It's one of those guys that just
seems like never runs out of gas by any stretch
of the imagination.
Speaker 2 (02:29:03):
Lind Mark take the face off again to the right
of Bartiskevitch against Christolph Papp, and he won the draw
to the slot. Tassy tried to put it to his forehand,
couldn't reach it, put it's run down by Linmark. Go
line right. Two thirty five to go. In the third,
Badgers and the Lions tied. Botteril nice play to free
the puck. Plachuck throws it into the corner back behind
(02:29:26):
that at Tassi tries to draw it in front of
the net, but Anderson got in his way. Now Linn
Mark in the left corner, bumped it out towards the
blue line, but intercepted by Southgate, weaves to his left
and flings it in two fifteen to go. Linnenwood changes
the Badgers will do the same now. Polada Chuck bumped
into his teammate look out blast time by Lundman, kicked
out by Gramma, loose piking Gramma back took Gramma and
(02:29:48):
he covers Oh decks eate all of last season together
and have started that way this season. Just miscommunicated and
Poladachuck bumped into Deckzheimer and the puck came free and
London could have given Linden with the lead with two
minutes left, but Grandma with a big stop.
Speaker 5 (02:30:04):
Yeah, And ironically it's like, why would you go brain
dead with two minutes left? I don't know. Done the
same play a thousand times before.
Speaker 2 (02:30:15):
Face off to the left of the Badger's netminder one
by Wisconsin logged out to center, Moseley looking for it,
slides far aside the Badger's habit kukin it, flings it
into the left corner, hoping Moseley can get there. He
engages with Jarman. Took a hit from Cosma goes to
the far wall and kicked away from Kukanin and it's
gathered in by Linden Woods. They try to exit their zone,
(02:30:37):
they will. Cosma at center took a good hit from Kukanin,
got it ahead to London, though, who's met by care
Latch trying to fend off Genyon behind the Wisconsin net.
Care lost the puck and his stick, but Latch had
the puck and then lost it. And then a bouncing
puck out near the Wisconsin blue line taken by Anderson,
(02:30:57):
but it had crawled across he'd dumped it in offside
called on the Lions one twenty seven left in the third.
A two to two game Quinn Finley power play goal
late second period got the Badgers within one, and then
he scores a baseball bat, a swing and a line
drive into the back of the net for the game
time goal at fourteen twenty nine.
Speaker 5 (02:31:19):
This used to be the time of the game in
this situation where my coach used to say, now you
find out the mentality of your players. Yeah, ones that
don't want to make a mistake are the ones that
want to win.
Speaker 2 (02:31:32):
It for you. At center ice, Horbock knocked down right
in front of the ban chastings up on his pals.
Speaker 5 (02:31:38):
One of the penalty.
Speaker 2 (02:31:39):
He's going to get one. Wow, and now they'll give
the puck. No, they're just going to let Hipkins stand
over the top of it. Now the whistle blows. I'm
not sure that was a pedalty. I think Jack Horback
drew the pedalty with a little acting of his own.
They're going to call boarding on Jaden Mercya. There wasn't
a ton of contact, but Horback felt it at least
(02:31:59):
in my opinion, went down along the boards, and that
gives Wisconsin a cunest power play with one oh one
to go in the third in a tie game.
Speaker 5 (02:32:10):
Well, they had relatively good offense of his own pressure
at least a lot of territorial advantage. It'd be nice
in the last minute if they did it again.
Speaker 2 (02:32:22):
Morrissey, Morel Kuchanon, Plada Chuck, and Finley on this power play.
Badgers lost the draw, but Pladachuck able to hold at
the left point. Morrissey banks it off the wall to
the freshman Botterrel Morrissey, the rookie himself down to the
dock goal line. Now Kucanon looking in the slot, but
Botterrel covered Kucanon back left wing to Morrissey. Forty three
(02:32:43):
seconds left in the third period, two to two game, backside,
Finley kicked it towards the back of the net. Coucanan
with a blind pass. Finley coming down the right wing,
but it was behind him now a snap shot blocked
off the stick of Botterrel rocochets back to Finley. Twenty
seven seconds left. Three first pivot by Botteril right goal line,
couldn't shovel it on goal. Pallata Chuck holds down to
(02:33:05):
the corner. Power play continues. Twenty seconds left. Morrissey with
it outside the left circle, looking backside right, Morrissey stick
handling setting up. Botterrell sets and fires block shot. Finley
one timer that's blocked out to pall outa chuck nine.
Finley again, one timer too high, Pallata Chuck holds five seconds,
four seconds, Finley again right win two seconds shot blocked

Speaker 5 (02:33:34):
Now, correct me if I'm wrong? How does it work?
Speaker 2 (02:33:38):
Badgers will start the power play overtime with a four

Twin Finley game time goal at fourteen twenty nine of
the third period from Simon Tassi and Christian Fitzgerald. It's
two to two Badgers. Eleven shots on goal in the third,
just four for Lyndon Wood, Wisconsin thirty eight shots on
(02:35:23):
goal to the Lions, seventeen. William Gramma fifteen saves so far,
Owen Bartis Skeevitch has made thirty six saves. We're headed
to overtime three on three for five minutes sudden victory
over time. But it's a four on three power play
for Wisconsin to start this OT session because of the
(02:35:44):
boarding penalty to Mercy A at the eighteen to fifty
nine mark of regulation, So a four on three power play.
It's Fitzgerald, Finley, Moseley and Deckzheimer. Finley from the center circle,
left wing, tries to cut in on Prouty, no angle
to get to the net. He'll bank it out to Dexheimer.
Dexheimer back left wing Finley looking shooting save, made rebound
(02:36:05):
mostly once twice, part of Skevitch stuff both as well
as Finley's initial shot, and now Dexheimer right point back
to Finley thirty eight seconds on the power play, Rister
missed the nets and Lyndon woods Anderson wax it all
the way down.
Speaker 5 (02:36:21):
Well, we'll see what happens here. But they're just letting
Finley shoot. I don't understand how that's a per progressive
penalty killed by any stretch of the imagination.
Speaker 2 (02:36:31):
But dex Sheimer right wing. Fitzgerald walks and shoots one
save my Bartiskevitch rebound back to Fitzgerald after the point,
now Finley twelve seconds to go on the man advantage,
wisconsint looking for the overtime winner. One timer by Fitzgerald,
blocked by Anderson. Fitzgerald again right wing four seconds on
the power play. Fitzgerald shoots oh. He hit the far post,
oh up near the crossbar. He wrung it clean. The
(02:36:55):
Badgers with three posts in the third period in overtime
with a full strength Fitzgerald shot too high off the
glass and a steel dex Sheimer low left. He shoots
one off the Noggin a part of Skevitch. He's made
three saves with his head tonight three point forty left
and over time. We're skating four on four two two game.
(02:37:15):
Here's Ganyon across the line. Slot lost it and then
flipped back into the air. He grabbed it, knocked it down,
Poke free by Morrissey all the way back to the
Lindenwood zone. Jakam Chuck hustles after it reverses to Ganyon,
spins away from the four, checking horbox steal By Lotch
tapped it right barseed to Horbock, but couldn't reach him.
And now it's Jackamchuck. Three fifteen to go in ot
(02:37:36):
skating four on four, Yakam Chuck. He dumps and chases
against Daniel Lonch. Lotch ties him up. Puck is free
Lundman to the left handed. Yakam Chuck cycles it back
behind the net. Anthony kererr walls off Lundman. Three minutes
to go in overtime a two to two game, Badger's
trying to get a series split Prouty with it out
(02:37:58):
by the blue line, and a pass goes off a
skater two and Ricochet's to Gavin Morrissey. Here's Wisconsin with
a puck. He had a head of steam. It's hens
Leaves to his left across the line, cuts to the slot,
pushed a shot. It was directed off a stick towards
the net. Miner and Barniskevitch had to play it into
(02:38:19):
the corner. Hensler a solo rush.
Speaker 5 (02:38:22):
That time.
Speaker 2 (02:38:24):
Bobby or esque and now it's ool for Lindenwood. Pressured
by lynn Mark to twenty to go in overtime at
two to two game they will do an exhibition shootout
should this game end in an overtime time, but it.
Speaker 5 (02:38:41):
Will be declared a tie.
Speaker 2 (02:38:43):
Correct in the record books. Wisconsin. Hensler gets it off
to Kuchenen, he avoids, Anderson runs into ool trailer. Lind
Mark has the puck and it whacked off his stick
by Oohl who was on his belly on the ice.
And now Andrew since got it. One fifty to go
in OT two. Two games, still skating four on four.
Speaker 5 (02:39:04):
Yeah, until the next stop is you play when then
they'll go to three on three. Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:39:09):
Evans left wing akam chuck across the red line. The
Badger Blue dumps it in can plot of chuck beat
him to the puck. He did, but Yakam chuck steals,
puts it in front, cleared out of the bums way
by Rylan Moseley, who was standing in the paint. Fuck
out to center. Fitzgerald tries to jam at free No
luck there, Hipkin with it good pope check by Fitzgerald
tapped along now by Moseley to Fitzgerald.
Speaker 5 (02:39:29):
Three on two.
Speaker 2 (02:39:30):
Dex Shimer across the line back to Fitzgerald, had a
sticklifted by the back checking Yakam chuck and now Fitzgerald,
wheeling passed pull out of chuck, puts it down low left.
Dex Sheimer looking looking walking in, tries to tuck it,
can up hope. Part of scavage was down but kept
sliding with dex Sheimer. The net was partially a lookout.
Fitzgerald fans on a shot. Now Hipkin one on one
the other way. Fitzgerald's back looking the sauce across canyon.
(02:39:53):
It jumped over his stick. Fifty eight seconds left in overtime.
It's two two, okay, Anthony cost to buddy. Here comes
Anthony Kaerer skates to the red line. Now the Blue
gets by one lion can't get by the second Prouty
who takes the puck away Prowdy up to center four
Badgers back, Proudy able to push it deep forty seconds
(02:40:14):
left in overtime, two to two.
Speaker 5 (02:40:16):
Well, the Badgers have had their fair share of opportunities
here in this overtime.
Speaker 2 (02:40:20):
Forty four to seventeen shots on goal. But it's a
two to two game. Launch Headman's Finley able to tap
it past, Proudy, runs it down two on one with
Morrisse's on side. He catches great feet Finley and he
had no chance.
Speaker 48 (02:40:34):
Bit from the left wing wall, the Badger's floor, the
Badger's score and you lah partest Skeviche spun around on
the one time past Morrissey back to Finley.
Speaker 2 (02:40:46):
He was down and out nowhere near the net, and
Launch picked it up left wing and flung it in
a rally for the Badgers, a three to two overtime
victory and a series to start the season.
Speaker 5 (02:41:03):
Oh boy, and that was probably the worst scoring opportunity
that the Badgers have had. Was lot shooting from the boards.
Speaker 2 (02:41:15):
Wow, it was a two to on one Finley and
Morrissey and Morrissey instead of shooting, he was open, tried
to refeed Finley for a layup and missed it, went
off the far corner wall and rimmed around to the
left hash marks and Daniel Lotch and again Bartiskevitch had
spun himself out of position and Lotch put it in
(02:41:36):
the open net and Wisconsin wins three to two.
Speaker 5 (02:41:41):
Wow. Yeah, and time was winding down, I mean clock
was not in either team's favor.

and they pull out a three to two overtime victory.
Daniel launched the game winning goal at four forty two
of the five minutes sudden death overtime. The Badger's one
in one Linenwood heads home one in one. But they
(02:46:14):
should not hang their head.
Speaker 5 (02:46:15):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (02:46:15):
They are a better program than they were the last
couple of years, and they're going to give some people
some fits. They have air Force, Miami, Robert Morris, Denver,
Ohio State, and Michigan State Notre Dame all on their
upcoming schedule. They were tough to play against.
Speaker 5 (02:46:32):
Oh yeah, they're I don't know how to put it,
but don't have a what is it a finley? Yeah,
you know, somebody that's hot cold, whatever can change the
complexion of the game. Sure, But as a composite, they're good. Yeah,
I mean they're they're good. I was very impressed.
Speaker 2 (02:46:56):
Yep. And Owen Bartiskevitch had a heck of a series two.
He made forty two saves tonight and took the loss.
He made thirty four saves last night and got the win.
Let's name our three stars of the game. Tonight the
Badgers win in overtime. Our stars of the game brought
to you by ever Light Solars, Save money, Save the planet,
(02:47:17):
Start with Everlight Solo. Who do you have there in?
Speaker 5 (02:47:19):
Actually this one was pretty easy. Want I guess if
you're Quinn Finlay and you get two goals and one
assists in a three to two hockey game, there's a
very good chance that you might be the first star.
The games when we're here and the style that he
scored his goals in are a little bit different. Also,
Number two star went with Morrissey and Moseley. Even those
(02:47:41):
two guys off the line. They look alike, they play alike,
they play hard, they do everything really good. And number
three star, congratulations to our sophomore goaltender. I had to
look to see how what William was William Grammy in
his first win of the season, and I hope he
(02:48:01):
continues to improve the way he showed tonight, never read it,
even though he only saw ten or eleven shots, never
really ever gave up anything that was what I would
consider to be an easy goal by any stretch of
the imagination, And say what you want. When you're a
goaltender and you only get ten shots, it's your biggest recognition.
And if you didn't fall asleep during the game. That's
(02:48:23):
how it works.
Speaker 2 (02:48:23):
He stopped to break away in the second exactly, and
then after deck, Sheimer and Poladachuk collided in the defensive zone,
he made his biggest save of the game against I
think it was Lundman to keep it a two to
one hockey game at the time. Badgers were allowed to
rally and eventually tie the game. So again our three
stars of the game, brought to you by ever Light Solar.
Wisconsin wins three too and overtime, our energizing performance of

How about our energizing performance of the game brought to

Speaker 5 (02:52:16):
I'll tell you what I think, in my personal opinion,
what really tipped the scales back into Wisconsin's favor was
in the third period the power play. Was it a
power play? Yeah, Finley taking a fungo and knocking it
out of the air and into the net, And you know,
(02:52:38):
you look at the people who are on the score
sheet and you're thinking, okay, so we've got Tassie and Fitzgerald.
I don't even remember them being in the play. And
yet it's a wide open net and he bats it
out of the air from twenty feet away and goes in,
and it just seemed like The reason I call it
an energizing player of the game is that it was
(02:53:01):
such a unique goal that everybody in the Badger bench
was kind of in awe and really fired up. But
it also turned around and just seemed to sink linden
Wood's bench at that point in time. So it was
a play that put Lindenwood down and put us up.
I'm very impressed with how it all worked out, and
(02:53:21):
if I was an ESPN, I'd be giving it a
did it.
Speaker 2 (02:53:25):
No doubt, no doubt. And you know I remember Ryan
mcdonoughh did that in this building a number of years ago.

Hampshire tonight. I haven't seen a score on that one.
So those are the non conference games. I have also
a non conference game. U Mass beat air Force four
to one. Actually that's in the third period UMass four
to one in the consolation game of the Icebreaker Invitational
(02:58:16):
in Las Vegas. Waiting to hear from head coach Mike Castings.
There are a few people that are downstairs right there,
and I've got my glasses on, but I can't tell
that's not Mike. Now, hopefully he'll be coming here shortly.
Hopefully he'll be walking down the way here shortly. Let's
see here in Big ten hockey, Ohio state of five
to two win over American International five to two Buckeyes
(02:58:38):
win over AI You Christopher every twenty six saves OSU
is one zero to one to start the season. The
Buckeyes will be here in Madison to play the Badgers
to open Big ten play next weekend. Head coach Mike
ca Stings is downstairs right now joining us. In the
postgame show, the Badgers rally for a three to two
overtime victory. In my thanks for coming out. Better effort
(02:59:01):
tonight certainly a better result as well. Congratulations.
Speaker 5 (02:59:04):
Yeah, climbing the mountain.
Speaker 13 (02:59:06):
Climbing the mountain. We made it difficult on ourselves again,
but I do like to stick with it. We had
to find a way to get back into that game.
Quinn Finley, he's a really good hockey player and he
could be a difference maker and he was tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:59:23):
You know, there were four little young men sitting in
front of us, and the one guy said, I wish
they'd score so it'd be over because I got to
go to the bathroom really bad. I don't want to
miss anything.
Speaker 13 (02:59:34):
Yeah, you know what, again, we're obviously, oh powerplay's gonna
have to be a little more productive. But I did
like the way the guys stuck with it and the
attitude on the bench and finding a way to get
it one tied up and then two to win it
in overtime. It's a good feeling for the guys. They
need a little bit of sunshine in their life and
(02:59:55):
they got that. They'll get a day off tomorrow and
then we'll get right back to work on Monday.
Speaker 2 (02:59:58):
Yeah. You know you talk last night when you after
a disappointing loss, you went right to the positives, and
which is always a good thing. And there's there were
a lot of positives here tonight and different individuals. We
saw how good Gavin Morrissey could be as a freshman
last night and again tonight, and the line combination seemed
to work. But then you started juggling those two and
we saw some plays from Kukon and and Botrelo who
(03:00:20):
rang the post over here. And you know, Adam Piedle
is out there at crunch time and your defenseman you
lose Zac Scholz. Five guys step up and did a
job for you tonight. You know what.
Speaker 13 (03:00:30):
The two guys that I think just have been a
rock for us, and you know this being around us,
Anthony Kerr and our goal scorer Daniel Latch are just
they're they're just so consistent.
Speaker 2 (03:00:44):
And hard and.
Speaker 13 (03:00:49):
There are men and then I thought, you know what,
fourteen and four. There are two guys that you know,
one being a junior and four has really stepped his
game up. I think he's become a difference maker in
his own right, And you know, Logan Hanzler's gonna you know,
peak and valleys. That's what happens when you're seventeen eighteen
years of age. And he came in and he wrung
(03:01:10):
one off the post. And he's a guy that plays
with a lot of confidence, and we're going to have
to rely upon that back end until we get some
forwards and get some production out of some lines or individuals.
I do like again, the way that we rallied back
and found a way to get it done.
Speaker 2 (03:01:27):
Yeah, and while you were one for eight on the
power play, I think it was there were a lot
of chances that the way that power play was breaking
them down. You're going to score some goals if you
keep moving the puck like that.
Speaker 13 (03:01:37):
Yeah, just a little bit cleaner, you know what I mean.
I think we had twelve shots tonight. We had the
ten shots last night. I thought tonight we were more
threatening and had some looks and some second and thirds
that we didn't have last night. And we'll continue to
grind on that. I'm just like I said, I think
we can become a puck possession team. We've just got
(03:01:59):
to get a little greasier and find a way to
make a few more plays so we can extend leads.
If we were to get one, that's two in a row, guy,
or two out of the last three that we spotted
the other team two goals, right, and twice we've been
able to find a way to come back. Now we
just need to get out.
Speaker 2 (03:02:15):
To a lead.
Speaker 5 (03:02:16):
Which of your coaches is going to take credit for
teaching Finley how to bat it out of mid air
from twenty feet away from the net.
Speaker 13 (03:02:24):
You know what, Actually, I don't think anybody'd step.
Speaker 5 (03:02:28):
Up to the table other than Finn that play.
Speaker 13 (03:02:31):
Yeah, you know what, Like I said, his skating ability,
and you and I have talked about him. He's a
young guy that's learning to play a man's game. And
you know tonight he's a difference maker and when he skates,
he's a difference maker more often than not. And so
I'm glad he's in the red and white, and now
we need to get some guys to continue to contribute
(03:02:54):
just like he has.
Speaker 2 (03:02:54):
Yeah, and did you see the final play and what
exactly happened? Because all of a sudden, Bartiskevitch is spinning
around in his paint and the puck goes in the
back of the net from Latch on that left wing.
Did you see it?
Speaker 5 (03:03:05):
Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 13 (03:03:05):
Finn came in, makes a nice chip play on the
wall to create the two on one, and I thought
Finn did a phenomenal job at freezing the goaltender. He
dropped his shoulder and the goalie kind of got on
his heedge just stayed there and he threw it over
to Mow and Mo one time was off his front foot.
And as you're watching through the neutral zone, and here's
(03:03:26):
again one reason I think Daniel Latch when he's done
playing here this next at the end of this year,
he'll have an opportunity to go play pro hockey. He
just beats his guy up the rink and continues to
come in and support, and that puck goes wide when
Moe tried to throw it back to Finny, and two
just gets up and their goaltenders spun around and he
(03:03:47):
just snaps it in the empty net. So you're rewarded
when you The hockey guys have a tendency to reward
you when you do the right things, and Two does
the right things almost all the.
Speaker 2 (03:03:56):
Time, all right, So they'll feel better about things after
tonight I'm sure you do too. And now all of
a sudden, Big Ten play starts next weekend, and that's
going to be a tough league, as you've come to learn. Right.
Speaker 13 (03:04:06):
Yeah, we've got a long ways to go, as you
guys know. And the thing that I talk to the
guys about is we need to get some rest and recovery.
It's the first time that we played back to back.
I do think Tommy and Kruk gives is deserve it
of a tip of the hat because I thought as
that game went on, we continued to be able to play,
and you know, now they need to get some rest
(03:04:29):
recovery on Sunday and then right back at it on Monday.
Speaker 2 (03:04:32):
All right, Mike, thanks for your time. Enjoy your Sunday. Thanks, guys,
You're welcome. Mike Hastings, head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers.
A three to two overtime win over Lindenwood here tonight.
Also back to the Big Ten, so I mentioned Ohio State.
One tonight, Notre Dame rally to beat Clarkson five to two,
four goals in the third period for the Irish. So
they win two out East Minnesota and Omaha. They'll be
(03:04:55):
facing off in about an hour or so. In the
championship game of the Tie Break or the Ice Break Invitational,
last I saw Michigan and Arizona State tied at one
in the second period. Wolverine's going for a split. Aiden
Fink had a couple of helpers tonight, but Penn State
lost at Quinnipiac three to two, and then Michigan State
(03:05:15):
beat Boston College for to three to split that series
between top five opponents. Charlie Stramle scored two goals for
the Spartans, Trey Augustine thirty two saves as MSU improved
to three and one.
Speaker 5 (03:05:28):
I believe we have mayor of Altona.
Speaker 2 (03:05:32):
Yeah, the man who scored the game winning goal tonight
is downstairs right now, senior defenseman Daniel Lotche. Daniel, congratulations.
That must have felt good for you.
Speaker 5 (03:05:41):
Thank you. Yeah, it was definitely a good feeling.
Speaker 46 (03:05:44):
I wasn't even sure if it went in at first,
but I saw it trickle and then yeah, I felt
pretty good.
Speaker 5 (03:05:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:05:49):
Brian Posik and Ian parent upstairs with Daniel lotchwell and
just for the team itself. Daniel, you know, last night
was tough, There's no question about it. You played better tonight,
wouldn't you agree? And when you play like that, good
things generally happened, don't they.
Speaker 46 (03:06:04):
Yeah, they're goalie played lights out both games. We It
took us a little bit to try and find the
back of the net, but we stuck with it and
ended up sneaking out a win, which is good. So
hopefully we can continue that into next weekend.
Speaker 2 (03:06:18):
Yeah, and you got to overtime because of a couple
of plays by Quinn Finley, including that baseball batted in
third period? Goald, have you ever seen anything like that
before him?
Speaker 46 (03:06:30):
Nothing in person like that. It's pretty pretty crazy, but
it felt felt pretty good once it went in.
Speaker 2 (03:06:36):
Yeah, So describe what happened in over. I mean, you
guys were buzzing in overtime. You know, you start with
a power play and then they kill it off, but
it's still four on four and things are going crazy.
Kind of take us through that final play and how
you you got it in the back of the net.
Speaker 5 (03:06:50):
Yeah, I kind of.
Speaker 46 (03:06:51):
I saw to start out the play, saw Finner curling
and he's got pretty good speed, so I gave it
to him hoping he could burn around a guy, and
you kind of chipped it or around, and then they
created a two on one and just they just missed
the connection on the two on one and kind of
the puck kind of trickled into the corner by the boards,
and I saw the goalie kind of sprawling around a
(03:07:12):
little bit, so I just thought I'd throw it towards
the net and hope something happened and worked out.
Speaker 2 (03:07:17):
As it did work out. And finally, for you, what
do you think you and your teammates learned about yourselves
here this weekend? It's a long season, you got Big
ten play coming up next weekend, then you go to Denver.
What do you think you learned this weekend?
Speaker 5 (03:07:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 46 (03:07:32):
I think we learned a little bit that every everyone
is hard to get and you got to earn them all,
and so we can't take any teams lighter than other teams.
So we just got to keep working hard in practice
and try and find the back and then at a
little bit more in practice, just to continue that into
the next few weekends and moving forward.
Speaker 54 (03:07:52):
Okay, Ian, you don't have anything for Daniel, Well, I
was gonna say, what any thing you should have learned
is Wayne Gretzky's theory every shot you don't take on
net doesn't score, not for you.
Speaker 5 (03:08:03):
You just shoot it from the corner and they go in.
It doesn't make any different.
Speaker 2 (03:08:07):
Oh it doesn't.
Speaker 5 (03:08:08):
Yeh, it's good.
Speaker 2 (03:08:09):
It's not how it's how many right exactly? Yeah? Hey, Daniel, thanks,
enjoy the rest of your weekend. Yeah, thank you too.
You're welcome. That's Daniel Lotch who scored the game. Win.
You're here tonight the Badgers in overtime knockoff linden Wood

Privited disappointing night last night for the ninth rank Wisconsin
Badgers as they started the season with a four to
two loss at home to independent linden Wood, first win
over a nationally ranked team ever for the Lions at
(03:10:45):
the Division I level. Then tonight, lynden Wood made it
tough on the Badgers once again and built a two
nothing lead before Wisconsin came from behind. Here are the
plays of the game and now breakout. Passed to Ganyon
up towards Zilkey, whackedat away from Paladachuck walks in left wing,
(03:11:05):
finds an open man Dan and hammers at home. Little
head and shoulder fake by Zilkey setting up Ganyon. No
one picked him up and from the Slotty beat Gramma.
It's two nothing. Lynden Wood pass ahead near side to
Alex Lundman, who had the game winning goal last night
for linden Wood. Pass back points, shot rate directed, Zilkey
beats Grandma one nothing. Linden Wood. Badger's down one, five
(03:11:30):
forty left in the third. Finley's out there. He's got it.
His shot got through, No it hit yak him chuck
to defenseman Tassy and him battling in front of the nets,
playing keep away right wing. It's Fitzgerald turn around shot
that hit Tassy.
Speaker 48 (03:11:41):
Bash baseball style quin Philly to two.
Speaker 2 (03:11:46):
My goodness, I mean a nice try by Fitzgerald, but
there was nobody behind to help him. Here's a pass
Moseley backside Passy bouncing puck to the slot. Finley, slow moving.
Speaker 11 (03:11:56):
Shot, he scores. How did that going?
Speaker 2 (03:12:01):
Launched? Headman's Finley able to tap it past Proudy runs
it down too. On one with Morrisse's on side, he
catches great feet Finley and he had no chance.
Speaker 36 (03:12:10):
Then from the left wing wall the.
Speaker 48 (03:12:12):
Badger's floor, the Badger's score and you Loah Fardest Skevitche
spun around on the one time pass Morrissey back to Finley.
Speaker 2 (03:12:22):
He was down and out, nowhere nearer than net, and
Launch picked it up left wing and flung it in
a rally for the Badgers, a three two overtime victory
and a series split to start the season, and those
are the plays of the game right there. As Wisconsin
(03:12:43):
down two nothing after Ethan Zilkey and David Ganyon had
scored late first and early second, Badgers pulled within one
on Quinn Finley's first goal of the season, a power
play goal at nineteen twenty six of the second Finley
assisted by Simon Tazzy and Rylan Moseley. Finley scored again
to I had at fourteen twenty nine, Batting the puck
out of mid air. He went off of Tassi's body.
(03:13:05):
After a shot from Christian Fitzgerald hit his teammate and
came to the right of the goaltender, and Finley batted
it in his second of the game, made it too too.
Badgers kept pushing and pushing. Eventually it went overtime, and
then with eighteen seconds left, Lotch, after a shot or
a pass missed by Moseley or Morrissey, ricochet off the
(03:13:26):
corner wall left wing. Lotch just threw it on net
and Bartis Skevitch didn't see it go in for Daniel
his first goal the season at four forty two. Morrissey
and Finley with helpers and the Badgers win in overtime
three to two shots on goal in favor of Wisconsin.
They had seven in the overtime session. Linnenwood had none
forty five for the game, just seventeen for the Lions.
(03:13:48):
William Gramma stopped fifteen shots. He got the win. He's
one to no Owen Bartis Skevitch stopped forty two tonight.
Tough luck loss for him. He drops his record to
one in one, two penalties four minutes for Wisconsin. Linden
would had eight pedalties for sixteen minutes tonight the Badgers
while only one for eight on the power play, And
I know Mike would like to see more production there.
Speaker 28 (03:14:08):
Ian.
Speaker 2 (03:14:09):
You can gain a tunnel momentum if you can move
the puck like that and control play like the Badgers
did with all those power plays in the second and
third period.
Speaker 5 (03:14:18):
Yeah, and there were no real uh gimmes. I guess
I'm just trying to think about the turnovers on the
power play that kind of haunted them on Friday night.
All of a sudden tonight when there was a turnover,
there was a Badger there to retrieve it, and uh
never really got caught in an unmanned situation. Man down
anything like that. So yeah, as long as they can
(03:14:40):
continue to dominate in the territorial advantage in the offensive zone,
and one of these days they're going to figure out
when that cross ice pass is made to shoot off
the pass. Just I think the chemistry has to get better,
the timing has to get better. But it's pointed in
the right direction. Yep, certainly.
Speaker 2 (03:14:59):
So let's see. The Badgers won thirty eight of what
was in thirty eight out of fifty seven face offs tonight.
Gavin Morrissey eleven out of seventeen, Owen Lindmark twelve out
of eighteen, Christian Fitzgerald won nine out of fourteen. Twenty
four block shots for Lindenwood this evening, And unfortunately I
(03:15:21):
don't have the final summary to tell me how many
block shots their young defenseman Yakim Chuck had, Aiden, Yakimchuck,
he had seven last night. I bet you had at
least seven tonight as well. He's gonna need lots of
bags of ice. Eight block shots for the Badgers. And
(03:15:41):
then individually again, Quin Finley two goals and an assist tonight.
Simon Tassi had two helpers this evening. Gavin Morrissey played
well once again as Wisconsin evans its record at one
to one. And I don't know what the final attendance
is either, which would be nice to know, but unfortunately
we don't have that information right now. It was a
better crowd tonight than last night when seventy five hundred
(03:16:04):
were announced as Wisconsin knocks off Lindenwood in overtime three
to two. And we'll wrap things up in a moment.
This is bad your hockey from Lairfield.

Speaker 2 (03:18:14):
Wiva Well again, tip of the cap to the Lindenwooden
Lions for coming here and you know, beating Wisconsin last
night forcing overtime or taking Wisconsin overtime tonight. And to
(03:18:37):
be honest with you, I don't think well I didn't
and I'm not sure how many people that follow Badger
hockey expected to see what we saw this weekend. I'm
sure the young men and coaching staff in the locker
room probably didn't expect it either. But it's a lesson
to be learned. You better be ready to play every night.
And the Badgeries were better tonight and a lot of
a room for improvement here as the season moves along
(03:18:58):
one hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (03:18:59):
I mean at work today in particular, people are going,
who the hell is Lynden would, where are they from?
How did they get good so fast? But again, we
talked about this what twelve years ago when Penn State
came into the league. Sure, you don't go in there
with twelve freshmen or twenty freshmen or whatever you're going
(03:19:20):
to do. You've got a new team, and you've gone
over and you get senior veteran transfers, and you get
older junior hockey players to come into your program. And
he's got a really nice mix of all of those
situations combined or all of those symptoms combined, and you
just get a really good feeling for him. It seems
like the kids believe in what he's teaching them, and
(03:19:44):
they've got nothing but positives looking ahead of them.
Speaker 2 (03:19:46):
Yeah, but again, Lindenwood will hit the road, continue its
road trip, going to air Force next weekend, then Miami,
then Robert Morris, then Denver. The Badgers meanwhile back here
at the Coal Center at next weekend Friday night at
seven O'clockaturday at six o'clock against the Ohio State Buckeyes,
and the Badgers have a little payback again. Ohio State
(03:20:08):
put a dent in the badgers chances of winning the
Big Ten regular season championship a year ago by sweeping
Wisconsin in Columbus near the end of the year, and
then OSU came to Madison and knocked the Badgers out
of the Big Ten tournament, winning two out of three games.
So again, we'll be on the air Friday night at
six thirty, Saturday at five thirty, and we also have
the Wisconsin Hockey Hour with head coaches Mike Castings and
(03:20:30):
Mark Johnson Tuesday night at seven oh five on the
Badger Sports Network in the Varsity Network. App Ian, thanks
for your time, nice job this weekend, and we'll see
you against the Buckeyes next weekend. All right, all right,
we'll give it a best shot. Jackson Lunsford, thank you
for your work at our Learfield Studios in Jefferson City, Missouri.
I'm Brian Posik, saying so long everybody. Once again, the
