Speaker 10 (02:04):
We are here for game two of the two game
series between the number one Wisconsin Badgers and the number
four Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs.
Speaker 11 (02:11):
Quite a thrilling game.
Speaker 10 (02:13):
Yesterday seemed like all hope was lost when the Badgers
gave up a third goal against the Bulldogs. They were
down three to two with twenty seconds to go. The
game was tied courtesy of captain Caroline Harvey, who left
the game with an injury in the second period, came
back in the third, came back, scored that tying goal,
and then with eight seconds to go, Cassie Hall, with
(02:34):
her second goal of the day, got the win for
the Badgers. It was one of the most incredible scenes
that I've seen in this arena. All the fans were
going crazy, everybody on press row was going nuts. It
was a sight to see. Certainly today it's going to
be a similar story. It's going to be very physical,
as we were seeing in yesterday's game, an incredibly physical game,
(02:55):
a lot of body checking penalties. Of course, that elbowing
penalty that led to a five minute major to put
the Badgers on the power play to score those two goals,
the equalizing goal and the winning goal as well. So
we expect to see a pretty similar game today. No
changes for the Bulldogs. We talked about before yesterday's game.
The three centering players first line center, second line center,
(03:15):
third line center, Johansen, Kramer and Cold. Those were the
three players that scored in the four to nothing win
against Syracuse last weekend. Those were the three players that
scored for the Bulldogs yesterday, so we'll see what happens
with that. For the Badgers, just one change and that
is Leila Edwards, who left with an injury in the
second period, will not play today. She was playing on
defense with Caroline Harvey of course, will not play today.
(03:38):
Mackenzie Jones was the extra skater. She slots in with
Landy Potter, which moves Vivian Jungles up with Caroline Harvey.
Speaker 11 (03:44):
And then the extra skater today will.
Speaker 10 (03:47):
Be Grace Bikeett, who was scratched in yesterday's game. A
lot on the line, of course, the Bulldogs do not
want to leave Madison without getting at least a point.
They thought they were going to run away with the
win yesterday. They thought that maybe they were going to
at least go to overtime and get an extra point.
But instead, within twenty seconds they went from leading the
game to losing and going home disappointed. They would like
(04:08):
to at least get something done today. They brought that
physicality that the Badgers haven't seen this season against Amidgie
State or against Maine. And I don't want to say
it shocked them because the Badgers, I think, with a
better team even when they were trailing. It was forty
five says for Eve Gasco. She played incredibly yesterday. Of course,
gave up that one goal though to Kirsten Simms playing
with it behind the net, just lost at to Kurston.
(04:29):
She was able to score that goal that was the
time goal for the Badgers. It just kickstarted their performance yesterday.
But Gasco stays in net, and of course McNaughton, who
has her shutout streak ended, she of course still gets
the start.
Speaker 11 (04:41):
She is one of the best goaltenders in the league.
Speaker 10 (04:43):
It's an amazing goaltending matchup, physical matchup coming up, but
we will see Paul Brown had a chance to talk
to Mark Johnson ahead of today's game, so when we
come back, stay tuned for that. The Coaches Corner presented

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Old Park Plays.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Back in the pregame show, Paul Brown with threw women's
hockey coach Mark Johnson. Mark, I tell you the last
couple of minutes of that game, what are the more
exciting times they continue to come your way?
Speaker 19 (06:21):
Yeah, I was.
Speaker 20 (06:21):
You know, that's one reason the game sixty minutes. You
got to play it to full sixty minutes because you
never know what's going to happen. And you know, we're fortunate,
you know, to get the extended power play with the
last couple of minutes, and you know, we're able to
create a couple of chances, ended up getting the tying goal,
and I think everybody was thinking, you know, okay, overtime,
we got a four and three power play for a
few minutes here, maybe we can win the game. And
(06:42):
before you know it, you know, Cassie scores the winner
with eight sects that go so exciting finish. Hopefully today
we do maybe some things a little bit better in
some areas on the ice, than maybe we did yesterday.
Speaker 19 (06:56):
But they're a good team.
Speaker 20 (06:56):
They played hard, they played physical, and at the end
of the day, it was it was a good competition
for both teams and good college hockey.
Speaker 21 (07:04):
I tell you what, in eight seconds at a practice,
it's tough to.
Speaker 19 (07:07):
Score a goal.
Speaker 20 (07:08):
Well, it is, and so yeah, we actually Kelly had
a chance just before you know, Cassie was able to
put it in. So again, you know, when you're on
a power play, you have a little bit more space,
you have the extra player, and you know in a
short period of time, can you create an opportunity or
fortunate to do that at the end last.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Night, talk about the decision to pull a goaltender with
a couple of minutes left.
Speaker 20 (07:30):
Yeah, that's one of those areas where you know, sometimes
you might do it, other times you won't do it,
depending how your power play is going, who you're playing against.
It it's a risk reward and I just felt that,
you know, it was a good time, you know, being
down the goal and you know we're not much time
left in the.
Speaker 11 (07:46):
Game, and.
Speaker 20 (07:48):
You know, if they had five players on the ice,
we probably would have pulled our goalie and make it
six on five and if you can win the face
off when you're six on four and no goaltender, that helps.
Speaker 19 (07:57):
And then you just have to be hard on pucks.
Speaker 20 (07:58):
If there's rebounds, you have to be you know, able
to get there first and try to k K contain
uh them icing the puck, and KK twice kept the
puck in the zone, which was remarkable, and then we
were able to you know, capitalize on her tying goal.
Speaker 21 (08:13):
I tell you what, when you watch KK play, when
you get used to seeing what she's capable of mo
of doing, all of a sudden she does something else
that you just go wow.
Speaker 19 (08:22):
Yeah that Uh, she'll bring you out of her seats.
Speaker 20 (08:25):
You know, she went down and you know, with about
three minutes to go in the second period, she got
to puck off the stick right into her throat.
Speaker 19 (08:32):
Couldn't really talk much.
Speaker 20 (08:33):
I don't know how she's uh she's doing this morning,
but uh, she'll be able to play. I'm not her
sure she'll.
Speaker 19 (08:38):
Be able to talk too well, but uh, yeah she can.
She can do things that a.
Speaker 20 (08:42):
Lot of other players can't do. And and you know
she was able to do that jump on a rebound
late in the game, and you know, put in the
back of the net, which got everybody excited, and before
they could sit.
Speaker 19 (08:52):
Down, we got another one to end up winning the game.
Speaker 20 (08:55):
So good afternoon. Uh again, we're early in the process
there after five games. And the good thing about yesterday game,
you know, we got challenged. We didn't have the puck
as much as we had in our previous four games,
which is good. So we got an opportunity to play
without the puck, and that's one area we have to
do a better job today.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
You said at the beginning of the year in Minnesota
Duluth was going to be a good hockey club.
Speaker 21 (09:16):
They look like a good team.
Speaker 19 (09:18):
Yeah, they defended well.
Speaker 20 (09:20):
You know, they're fast through the neutral zone, and you
know when you get chances, boy, she makes a lot
of good saves. Adella had a couple of gold and
opportunities on the power play and she was able to
make saves on that. So if you defend well and
your goaltender is consistently good, you're in every game. And
then can I score a power play goal or can
I capitalize on the other team's mistakes and get a
(09:41):
couple of goals here and there, And they're capable of
doing that, and we saw that yesterday and hopefully playing
against that competition elevates us.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Also, I'll tell you what, gas Cole made five or
six unbelievable saves in that game.
Speaker 19 (09:55):
Yeah, she's been doing that for two years now, and
she'd be doing it this third year.
Speaker 20 (10:00):
So how do you find ways to score? And you know,
you start to emphasize about a bunch of these little things.
And if you can get traffic and you know, get
that middle drive person going hard to the net to
take some space away and create some havoc, those are
your best chances because if she sees the puck and
there's nobody in her way, she's probably going to stop it.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
In terms of physical that was a very physical game,
and I guess you would expect to lose to do
the same type of thing today.
Speaker 19 (10:23):
Wouldn't you.
Speaker 20 (10:24):
Well, the one thing you have to think about is,
you know, anybody that plays us, they're excited to play us.
Speaker 19 (10:29):
They had last weekend off. As we've talked about before,
they're a.
Speaker 20 (10:32):
Good, solid team and you know, coming into our building
early in the year, they were like energized, they were
excited to play. They wanted, you know, to beat us,
as every team does. So we generally face the other
team's best of what they're going to give us, and
so we have to be an understanding of that. And
you know, the first five minutes yesterday they were pretty
good and we couldn't catch up, and then we caught
(10:54):
up and we got pretty good. So again early in
the season, learning opportunity. You know, it's a big difference
when you play, you know, a top four or five
team compared to some of the other competitions.
Speaker 19 (11:05):
And the whole thing is how do we continue to
get better? And that's how I look at the big picture,
and you know, and do it in small increments.
Speaker 20 (11:13):
So as we get you know, through a today's game
and we come back tuesday, you know, how do we
continue to get better?
Speaker 21 (11:18):
One final one, Mark, I know it's early, but when
you're looking at your club, what are you seeing?
Speaker 19 (11:22):
What do you like just seeing?
Speaker 20 (11:24):
You know, kids trying to you know, play hard, and
our job is to try to give them to play
hard consistently, but smart too, And so some of the
breaksdowns that we have yesterday are very you.
Speaker 19 (11:37):
Know, easy to fix.
Speaker 20 (11:39):
It comes with reading situations and playing a little smarter,
so I don't need to work harder sometimes but I
just need to work smarter and get myself a position
and or opportunities yesterday, which we did created some turnovers,
was ends up giving you scoring opportunities. But you know,
it's like almost a feeling out process. We didn't practice
with a bunch of our team this past week, so
(12:01):
we lost out on that. So it was our first
game in that space, and you know, we did okay.
You know, like I said, I didn't like the first
four or five six minutes, but you know, we ended.
Speaker 19 (12:10):
Up moving to Buffalo better even at Funeral Beetta, which
makes the games easier to play.
Speaker 21 (12:15):
Thank you, Mark, good luck, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:19):

Speaker 22 (12:59):
It is going to be Jungles.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Vivian Jungles will open defensively with KK Harvey. Who's in
the lineup up front? It's Kirsten Simms on the left side,
Chapo Valley Bobo will open up at center, and Lacey
Eden will play the right wing on the opening line.

Speaker 22 (14:46):
Well, guys in Minnesota. Duluth come into the game with
a record of four and one.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
The Badgers are five at aero and in this series,
wisconfit has won sixty six of the games, thirty seven
losses and four ties. And Greeny the Bulldogs have lost
the last eight games to the Wisconsin Badgers. They are
a much stronger team this year and we'll bring on
(15:11):
a strong challenge again today against the Badger.
Speaker 9 (15:15):
Yeah, you can count on that, Paul. The Bulldogs are
a really good team. And that historical record of games
where we've beaten them, They've all been close games typically,
and I think we're going to see another one today.
Yesterday was a classic example of it.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
And the only update we can give you is Leyley
Edwards is on crutches. She will not play in this
game today. KK Harvey is back in the lineup. She
took a puck near the throat in that game. Yeah, yesterday,
that was scary, a very physical game, and I guess
we're going to expect the same.
Speaker 9 (15:49):
Yeah, we'll see if what the officials do today as
far as if they're gonna ratchet it down at all
or let them play again.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
But I think Mark talked a little bit about that
on the play game and that kind of thing. There
was a lot of stuff that went on, a lot
of pushing and shoving that get control of it, and
if you're gonna call it, go ahead and call it exactly.
Speaker 9 (16:09):
After the whistle. It should be an automatic penalty of
some type. And that didn't happen yesterday. So we'll see.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
The Badgers will be skating from our right to our left,
the Bulldogs of Duluth from left to right. Saint Martin
will open on the left wing. Kramer at center Bergen
on the right side. Henderson back defensively on the left,
with Messia and gas Co in goal and we're underway.
D'looth will play it up the boards, driven down to
(16:36):
the Badger's zone, got past Aba McNaughton. The puck is
loose down on the corner of the right side of
the Wisconsin zone, picked up by KK Harvey around over
the Jungles and the Badgers will backhanded in over the
line by Lacey, banged around the boards before checking Wisconsin
trying to hold the zone. Puck comes to center, eyes
(16:57):
and control to get his Kirsten's ins off on the
far boards.
Speaker 22 (17:01):
On the right side.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
It's picked up by Jungles who carries it right out
in front. Tried to center the puck, Harvey with it
behind the goal. The pass to Gorbatanco doesn't work. Badgers
hold it in with it his Cassie Hall playing it
down to the corner. Badgers try to chase it down
on the far side. Scandal Hall in Gorbatanko out for Wisconsin.
(17:22):
Fuck loose down to the far corner. Badger's in the
attacking zone. Come back to the left point with a drive.
Oh it just got tipped. Why did the goal, just
missed the corner on the low side half. Minnesota Duluth
bangs it off the glass and it rolls back down
to the Badger's zone quickly. Venusio played it past O'Brien
(17:45):
of Minnesota Duluth. They give it to Gorbatanko on the
near side control to get his Aba Murphy sliding it
around over the Banusio played it off the back wall,
still in the Badger's zone nearboards, trying to clear it.
Wisconsin will play it up to the near side and
the neutral zone. We're just underway eighteen twenty six, remaining
(18:06):
in a scoreless first period and Wisconsin and Minnesota Duluth,
two of the top four teams ranked in the country,
matching it up here today. Coming out now for the
line of Halberson, Pericard and and right for the Badgers
back defensively, it's Jones and the Potter and Mackenzie Jones
(18:27):
in the lineup for Eva Leyley Edwards who's out of
the lineup and going back down over to set it up.
Coming out now, Duluth trying to bring it out with
Cosso Bud Cosso Buddy with a puck in the neutral zone.
Lost control of it. Badgers come in over the line.
Here's Eden with it. Tried to put a move. Eden
tried to center it, hit the side of the net.
(18:48):
Potter picks it up. She carries it around down on
the corner of the right side. Cellered it right out
in front, and the shot by Simms was deflected wider
than at right along the board's right side. Bulldogs back
in their own zone, turn and they try to clear
it out coming up ice controlling it coming in over
the line. Sidura's out with Kroc and Coal layed down
(19:12):
back in behind. Avia McNaughton watching the traffic from left
to right in gold As Wisconsin will turn and out.
They come through neutral ice near boards to KK Harvey
whistle in an offside.
Speaker 22 (19:24):
He'll be called.
Speaker 9 (19:26):
Harvey was frustrated with that, but we'll face her often.
Try it again.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Badgers have outscored their opponents twenty eight to five in
five games. Face off coming up at the blue line
near the blue line of Minnesota. Dulute Kramer in the
face off circle. Bergen is out in Saint Martin. That's
their number one line. They're playing against Tall, Scandal and
Gorbtenko in the match laid back in behind gas Cole
(19:56):
played it around the board's Messier tried to work it
out of the zone hat center ice. Harvey picks it
up and plays it on the lead to the pass stick.
Gorbatanko comes in over the line, fanned on the shot.
Minnesota Duluth trying to pick it up on the neutral zone.
Kramer hustling in the Badger's zone, but back his Vivian jungles.
(20:16):
Badgers transition out of their own zone. They come through
center Ice controlling this Hall all in over the blue line,
take it away. The Scandal tries to work the wing
on the near side. Badgers look to hold the zone
just inside the blue line of the Bulldogs. Back handed
around by Scandal behind the nap and in the corner.
(20:38):
Gorbatanco goes down. D'luth turns it out. They come leading
it up fist. They got Mayor in over the line.
Kramer with it and try to go back to Mayor.
Shot tip wide of the goal by O'Brien and Wisconsin
coming out of their own zone. This is McCarthy coming
up the left side. McCarthy pulls up above the circle
(20:59):
on the left, chase down in the corner, Pekinhagen trying
to hold it there for Wisconsin coming back controlling it.
Here's Mayor coming in over the line of Wisconsin played
it back behind Ava McNaughton in the corner. The Badgers
turned and and Murphy carries it out through the neutral zone.
Coming in over the line and trying to hold up
(21:21):
was McCarthy on the left wing.
Speaker 22 (21:23):
But an off side is going to be called.
Speaker 9 (21:25):
Yeah, we got to get the timing down pad and
are in the zone here, Paul. We got a couple
off sides already.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Fifteen thirty six remaining in a scoreless first period at Lebon,
and the Badgers are gonna change up.
Speaker 22 (21:39):
No penalties called in the game so far.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Wisconsin so far this season fourteen penalties for twenty eight minutes.
Their opponents have taken thirteen penalties for twenty nine minutes.
Shapeo valle Bova tried to win the draw for the Badgers.
It comes back over to Kirsten Simms that line of
Egan along with Spy Balohova, Sims and Eden up front
(22:03):
for the Badgers. Back defensively, it's Potter and Joanes Minnesota.
Duluth controls that they come up ice and they'll dump
it down to the Badger's zone. It came off the
stick of Cassubud loose on the far side in front
of the Badger bench.
Speaker 22 (22:18):
Picked up.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Here's shoppy Valevova went down, got up stick handling with
a puck, tried to get off a shot, and we
may have a penalty coming up here. It's gonna be
a hooking call and that's going to send the Wisconsin
Badgers on the power play, you know, Paul.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
Five minutes into the game and neither team has an
official shot on net yet. Attempts but either deflected or
gone wide. We'll see if we can put some stuff
on focks on net here during the power play, hopefully
convert for one.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Asso Bun goes to the penalty box. The Badgers on
the power player three of fifteen so far on the year,
and three different players, KK Harvey along with Cassie Hall
and Sims have scored power play goals. Sims with a drive,
oh and Shapo Valley Bova back over the Sims on
(23:12):
the far boards. Wisconsin with the power play situation, Harvey
with a drive, deflect it in and gas Gold took
the deflection and put it away in the glove.
Speaker 9 (23:23):
Yeah, Lacey Eden was right on top of the crease
here to get a piece of her stick on it
as amazing. Guess going could glove it cleanly.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Face off will come up to the right side back
in the zone of the Bulldogs coached in the second
year by Laura Schuler around the boards on the far side.
Sims could knock it down at the right point and
KK Harvey goes back clock shows one thirty five remaining
(23:53):
in the power play Casso blood in the bud or
in the box. Pardon me the potter with it around
moving it in Sims with a drive in front backhander
taken by Eden and it's glove by gas Cole.
Speaker 9 (24:08):
That's a nice little flurry there. Good shot on net
by Sims and Eden worked with the rebound. But Gas
go and stop that too.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Badger's very effective at passing the puck.
Speaker 9 (24:18):
Yeah, nice puck movement.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Shapo Valley Bova in the face off circle for the
Badgers trying to win the drawsh He moved it forward,
go loath along the back one on their own zone.
They find the gap and they'll drive it all the
way down to the Badger's zone and covering it up
is Ava McNaughton holding on shots on goal three for
the Badgers, none for Duluth, no score in the game.
(24:42):
Fourteen twelve remaining in the first period. In the faceoff circle,
it's Ray Mayer for the Bulldogs to the left side
of Ava McNaughton around on the far side. Wisconsin, still
a little over a minute left on the power play,
old dog shorthanded. Wisconsin tries to set it up and
(25:03):
break it out of their own zone. Whether it is
KK Harvey skating in coming in over the line, controls
it with a drive.
Speaker 9 (25:11):
Wow left manisc scores. Wow, what a shot by KK Harvey.
She's a left hander. She come down on the left wing,
got below the dot. I didn't know if she was
going to release that shot in bingo short side, right
(25:33):
in the corners.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
She didn't watch room to put that buck in there. No,
not at all.
Speaker 9 (25:38):
What a great hard wrist shot from the low left wing,
just on the short side. I guess going inside the pipe, say.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Fifty one the time of the goal. Wisconsin with a
one do nothing league KK Harvey on the power play.
Speaker 22 (25:53):
Eden gets the assists for the Badger.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
That was great and Wisconsin with the lead here in
the first period around on the far side, Gorbatanko over
to pick it up. Badgers come back over to try
and control it, and around of the Fiboards Ava Murphy
up Ice on the lead and in the neutral zone.
Speaker 22 (26:16):
Picked up by Gorbatanko. It's gonna be taken away.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Badgers will skate back in their own zone, hustling back
over to try and pick it up. McLeod centered it
in front of the Badger not cleared by the Badgers,
around on the far side and going back over to
set it up. Duluth comes out of their own zone
in a hurry on the lead. McLeod with it, fired
it in behind Ava McNaughton. A great pace here in
(26:40):
the first period.
Speaker 9 (26:41):
You're not kidding, Paul moving it.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Up Ice, controlling get played back down on the corner.
Twelve fifty one or remaining in the period, and ed
right is out for the Badgers along with Picard and
Halverson buck loose in the bulldog zone. Minnesota, Duluth turning
trying to clear it. They'll move it up Ice on
the brake and Creamer with it shot into the glove,
I tell you, and play is going to be stopped
(27:04):
at Kramer. She'll be playing in the Olympics for Team Canada.
Don't you think they're Paul oh.
Speaker 22 (27:08):
Without a doubt?
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Maybe a she is a quality player or Minnesota deliver
yep very complete six the sister of the Year for Eden,
matching her number and the Badger's with a one to
nothing lead on KK Harvey's goal for KK or third
goal of the year. She's already got seven points. She's
also got two power play goals so far this year.
Speaker 9 (27:32):
She makes it happen quickly.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Twelve thirty four remaining in the first period, Dluth's setting
it up around on the far side. Yo Hansen with it,
Jo Hanson with it in the circle with a drive
and it went off the glass and it rolls all
the way back to the blue line of the Bulldogs
on the far board. Person on the fore check is
McCarthy and Duluth moves that's to McCarthy, forcing him to
(27:57):
play it back in their own zone. Ice effort there by.
Number two of the Badgers, the sophomore out of Whitefish, Montana,
and setting it up is Caitlin Kramer back in over
the line. Dalut setting it up and that's Kramer moving
it around back door in the past to Dalot shot
and wide of the goal. Eleven fifty one remaining in
(28:18):
the period. Daloo's back at their own blue line, looking
to set it up. Framer comes through Santa Rii. She
works it in over the line, passes it over to
O'Brien who leaves it back over to Kramer.
Speaker 22 (28:29):
Kramer moving it in shot blocked in traffic.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Then play is going to be stopped here at lebon
Areno where the Badgers lead it one to nothing on
the goal by KK Harvey at six o seven of
the period.
Speaker 9 (28:43):
What exactly was the infraction by enright? Do you know
offhand that were on the penalty kill?
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Doesn't matter, they scored the power play goal.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
Yeah, you're right right.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
I'm just curious he didn't call it hooking. Yeah, okay,
hooking all around on the far side. I've been back
over to control it down in the corner. KK Harvey
with it and that it cleared from her stick. Badgers
come back over to center ice eleven twenty four reminting
in the period, moved back in over the line and
Aba McNaughton will cover it up and she'll make the save.
(29:17):
So we have the stoppage of play forty three seconds
reminting in the power play.
Speaker 9 (29:25):
Yep, let's kill this one off.
Speaker 22 (29:28):
Yep, and right is in the box for forty three
more seconds.
Speaker 9 (29:34):
Yeah. I didn't see her for hook actually, but obviously
the official did.
Speaker 22 (29:40):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Another penalty coming up against the Badger. Oh boy venusio,
Oh boy, Yeah, interference the call. So we've got Duluth
with a situation here where they got the Badgers shorthanded
right now, we've got a five on three situation that's
(30:05):
going to be up on the board for forty three
seconds and the Badgers getting a third defender out there
coming out as McCarthy, So a great opportunity for Minnesota.
Duluth with a five on three situation, and the Badgers
will dump it down the ice on the clearing paths if.
Speaker 9 (30:25):
Karthy wisely set it down there to kill some time.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Coming back out, Duluth comes back onto their own zone
thirty seconds before they'll get in right back, coming back
in over.
Speaker 22 (30:34):
The line and they're off side.
Speaker 9 (30:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 22 (30:36):
Oh that helps the Badgers a bit.
Speaker 9 (30:39):
Yup eating contested. Yeah, cause that off sides for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Eleven one remaining in the penalty or the period and
twenty seven seconds remaining in one penalty and one four
on the penalty called the venusio.
Speaker 9 (30:55):
And things happen quickly, don't they, Paul, They sure, do
you know? We score a goal next thing, you know,
we're with a five on three.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Here and Wisconsin gets the drawn. They'll dump it all
the way back down to the Bulldog zoned eighteen war
seconds and then coming out of the box will be
end right, but it'll still be the Bulldogs with the
power play five on three. They carry it in over
the line.
Speaker 22 (31:17):
Eden is out.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Also for the Badgers is KK Harvey on the penalty
kill back out on top. Duluth setting it up looking
for that perfect pass combination backhanded out of the zone.
Nicely done. Badgers get one defender back. That's now five
on four with one o eight remaining in the penalty time,
Bulldogs trailing the game one to nothing. The buck is
(31:41):
loose along the board's near side. They play it down
to the corner, Framer over to try and pick it up.
Speaker 22 (31:47):
Framer with it.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Badgers try to dump it out of the zone. The
Badgers will pick it up and Wisconsin has it. They
throw it up the right wing and Dluth blocks knocks
it down, pucked up by Harvey, come in over the line.
Here's a Chapel valle Vova out of the corner, one
against three, trying to control the fuck in the corner,
(32:08):
giving up a foot to it and had thirty four seconds.
We meant in Kramer working it back in over the line,
break into the natisbergen and it played around the board's
nice effort so far on the penalty kill.
Speaker 22 (32:20):
If you hear a cheer.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
By the crowd, here's a potential break moving it up
Ice coming in sim shot and the save is made
by gas Co. But a nice effort on the part
of the badger penalty killers down five on four.
Speaker 9 (32:37):
And Sheffy bumped it out of the zone. Then we
had a two on Oh go on the other way
and Sim's almost scored. A good glove saved by gas
going to keep it out of the net. We're doing
a great job of taking away the middle here, Paul
on the five on three and the five on four.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Boy, I'll tell you a nice penalty killing effort, as
you just mentioned. De Luke looking for the first gold
or down. Shots are five to four in the game,
Wisconsin at the point looking to hold his own. Cassie
Hall will drop it back and the Badgers are going
to be back at full strength. Venusio is out of
the penalty box. A five on three and a five
(33:12):
on four doesn't work for Minnesota. Duluth Badger's still leading
the game. They take it away Garbatanko with a drawn
in front of the net. What a nifty steel on
the part of Garbatanco. The slot, beautiful and wisconsinate center
ice playing with a tremendous amount of energy in this game.
(33:33):
Around over to set it up in control and the
Bulldogs will fire it back in behind.
Speaker 22 (33:39):
Avia McNaughton.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Badgers are up won nothing on the goal of powerplay
goal at six point fifty one, scored by KK Harvey.
A little scrum going on in front of the Badger
bench and the officials watching it. It's coming out of it.
It's Gorbatanco getting the path. Garbatanko will play it down
on the corner of the left side back the Bulldog zone.
(34:01):
Croc tried to clear it out from Minnesota Duluthe Goorbatenko
down in the corner and it's centered to deflecit if
a card put it out in front and it deflected
in on the goaltender who steered it away eight oh five.
Remitting in the period, Badgers look to hold the zone.
How nice would it be after killing off of five
(34:22):
on three and five on four to get a goal.
Speaker 9 (34:24):
Yeah, I'd take that.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Paul coming back in over the line. Wisconsin will work
it in over the line. They try to work it
ahead Bot Minnesota. Duluth skates through center ice, carries it
in over the Badger line and it's going to be
bumped back down the ice in Duluth has to go
back in their own zone to set it up. They
angle it off the boards, turn and they'll try to
(34:47):
play it back down to the corner and going back.
Wisconsin in their own zone in the corner trying to
set it up. Potter and Jones out defensively and Duluth
will dump it all the way back in the zone
coming over to pick it up. This is Bergen Bergen
playing it in over the line out with Kramer and
Saint Martin for delude. Wisconsin trying to get the fuck
(35:10):
out of their own zone and they do control it,
moving it up up the ice off the boards. Here's
Eden coming in off the wing, centered dead right out
in front, and it's going to be set up by
Wisconsin behind the net, and the pass goes back to
the point and Harvey's gidding back to pick it up.
Harvey wins the race to the puck, flips it out
(35:32):
over the center ice to the stick on the pass
to Chapel Valley, Boba taking back and controlled over the
line comes O'Brien. O'Brien off on the play as Duluth
looks to set it up, Cook along the boards. Now
Minnesota Duluth and the Badger's own six thirty three remitting
in the period Frock with it plated, rinklat on the paths.
(35:56):
It goes to parking in the blue line. Wisconsin at
their own line will set it up to k K Harvey.
There's Harvey with it, driving it out toward Eden and
eating and Cassie Hall. Eden and Hall try to work
it and coming over to try and hold his own
back out towards center ice. Vivian Jungles and Aba Murphy
(36:17):
defensively and with it. It's Vivian Jungles on the pass.
It comes back up a scandal. Here's scandal with a
drive right on and picked up by Kirsten Simms at
the top of the point on the right side, back
over and moving it around of Cassie Hall, I believe,
(36:37):
and they're going to be set up along the boards
trying to control it. Wisconsin gives it off over the gore,
but tangle with a drive of a rebound on the
far side, looking to control it behind the net.
Speaker 22 (36:49):
Cassie Hall with a drive.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Good pressure on the part of the Badgers here, looking
to set it up back out on top. There's a drive.
WHOA that player may be hurt.
Speaker 9 (37:00):
Yeah, she is hurt.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
That player may be hurt. That is O'Brien who took
the brunt of that shot. She still hold leaning over
her stick and Wisconsin, man, we're gonna take a break.
This is Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.
Speaker 25 (37:18):

It has long lasting body pain reliefs, so you can
forget those body pains and make some happy memories instead.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
With just one pill.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Welcome back to Wisconsin women's hockey presented by Oak Park Place.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Back in lebon Arena here on a Sunday afternoon. A
very exciting first period so far, five eleven remaining in
the period, Badger's lading at one to nothing six oh seven,
and they scored a power play goal off the stick
of KK Harvey, with the assist going.
Speaker 22 (38:44):
To Eden and Greeney.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
You took a look at the what's happened in this
game so far? What did you say?
Speaker 9 (38:50):
A couple things We're doing much better than yesterday. We're
taking away the middle of the ice a lot better today,
and we're keeping a third forward high, not yielding an
odd man rush for the Bulldogs, and that's been effective
so far.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Based off coming up to the left side of Gasco
with a drive right on and the fuck came loose.
Speaker 22 (39:07):
Badgers holding the zone.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Shots are nine to four in the game and it's
only one to nothing though hustling back trying to take
it away, Wisconsin to move it out of their own zone.
Speaker 22 (39:19):
They get it to center.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
Ice, broken up by Messier, cross iceing the play over
to Henderson Aba Murphy along the back wall on the
Badger's zone trying to bring it out on the near
side behind the net. Wisconsin harassed there by Messier, but
they clear it. I head on the plate to McCarthy.
McCarthy moves it in over the line through the skates
(39:42):
on the pass there. They tried to pick it up
in front of the goal, peeking Hogen in front of
the net. Then whistle and play is going to be stopped.
Speaker 9 (39:50):
I really like the look of peaking Hogen right there
in the front of the crease about six foot tall,
you know, goes to the net hard. That's very very
good play.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
She's out of Saint Catherine's Ontario five ten freshmen right winger.
She looks taller than that even you know, yeah she does,
and it's going to be set up. She also was
involved in rowing. Yeah, so would you doubt her conditioning,
I wouldn't know.
Speaker 9 (40:19):
And the way she goes to the net hard every
time as indicative of good conditioning as well.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
And Kirsten Simms taking down no penalty call there, Sims
popped up quickly.
Speaker 22 (40:30):
Look out Duluth coming in over the.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Line, backhanded, centering, pass cleared behind the net. Now we've
got a penalty call and that's gonna come up, and
the Badgers are going to be on the power play
because Ava's gone extra attack her out and with its
Eden behind the net and Eden works it around the boards.
Can the Badgers maintain possession of the puck and the
(40:53):
power play? Yeah, around on the far side. They'll set
it up on the wing to the point of the
pass over the hurst and sim sim stick handed with
the puck behind the nets center that.
Speaker 8 (41:04):
Wow, the chapel valley Boba in front of the net.
Speaker 22 (41:08):
Couldn't poke it in man.
Speaker 9 (41:10):
Sim's his waltz behind the net, backhand passed a low slot.
I thought Shappy was gonna put it away. What do
we got here? Now we have a Badger going to
the box too. We got Shappie going to the box
for the Badgers obviously, and we've got a Bulldog going
(41:36):
to the box as well. Match up those penalties. Yeah,
so Johansson's going to the box for the Bulldogs, Shappy
for the Badgers. It's going to be four on four.
It looks like Paul Yeah, with three point thirty two
left to go in the period. Wow, that's too bad.
(41:57):
I was hoping we go on the power play. I
think there was a little bit of a post whistle
activity and.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
We'll take a thirty second break. This is Wisconsin Badger
women's hockey.
Speaker 26 (42:07):
Experience, knowledge, results, That's what really matters. When you need
help after a serious truck accident, You'll need a lawyer,
experience in fighting and winning for people just like you.
Ruber Offices has the resources, strong track record of success,
and a team of experienced lawyers to take care of
your needs. We've successfully held people injured in big truck
(42:30):
accidents for more than thirty five years. Ruber offices.
Speaker 22 (42:35):
One call.
Speaker 24 (42:36):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
We've got matching minors. A couple of minutes up on
the board for both teams. Oh wait a minute, here
they called another one off de loud. Yeah, they assessed
one to uh Carlson. Okay, Carlson's head into the box. Yeah,
Or did they have the wrong player in?
Speaker 9 (42:58):
No, they've they've got to be sitting Carlson and Johansson.
Speaker 4 (43:01):
So it's gonna be four on five on three. Now
they didn't take.
Speaker 9 (43:06):
Five on four, we still have them. Yeah, and uh, yep,
they've got two, so it's five on four.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
They got the penalties are not listed on the scoreboard,
and we have three minutes and thirty two seconds remitting.
Speaker 9 (43:23):
Oh man, anything can happen.
Speaker 4 (43:25):
Hupall five on four and we'll have so I'm not
sure the exact time of the five on four.
Speaker 22 (43:32):
There's nothing up on the scoreboard.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Now they put it up two minutes on the penalty.
There there we go. So we have three thirty two
left in the period. Badgers leaded one to nothing, nine
to four in shots. Power play for the Badgers here
and down back eaton in the corner over to try
and pick it up, and the Wisconsin holding get into
(43:55):
Eden with it, try to move it around in the slot,
around over to Kirsten Sims, Sims with it.
Speaker 22 (44:00):
Sims pulls up around over to KK Harvey.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
Harvey with a drive that went up over the glass
and netting and drops back into the rink. And we'll
have a face off coming up. Bulldogs are going to
change up on their penalty killed. Badgers are going to
change up. A couple of players coming out in the
power play. Kirsten Sims said something to potter.
Speaker 22 (44:22):
KK.
Speaker 4 (44:22):
Harvey will be out playing the point along with Sims,
face off to the left side of gas go. The
draw comes back over to KK Harvey. Harvey with it,
slid it through traffic, deflected wide over to Kirsten Sims.
Speaker 22 (44:36):
Sims works it behind the net. She's tied up.
Speaker 4 (44:39):
Potter comes over to pick it up and work it
back to the point and Harvey with it played it
down deep in the zone. Little Gibven go in the corner.
Badgers try to free the puck. Potter comes over to
work and loose around over to Eden. Eden's setting it
up behind the net, comes around on the pass out
on top over to Harvey. Quickly around over to Sims,
(45:00):
Sims back over the Harvey out on top. Here's Harvey
with it moving the puck, kick over the potter with
a drive in front. They keep it out. Puff came
lows the goaltender getting back. Wow hit the pipe by Harvey.
Gas Cole was on her back and Harvey hit the pipe.
Harvey with another drive and gasco.
Speaker 22 (45:21):
With the sage.
Speaker 9 (45:22):
Jiscoing didn't even have a stick the last last five
to ten seconds since she still made a lace glove safe.
Speaker 4 (45:28):
You imagine that feeling you're laying there no stick and
KK Harvey's walk.
Speaker 9 (45:32):
The puck rips one from about two feet away and
somehow it hits the pipe and stays out. Man oh Man.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Face of six seconds remitting in the power play coming
to the left side of gas co of the Bulldogs
behind the nap working around over to set it up.
Wisconsin hit the fit that hit the official as they
tried to work it around on the far board. Thirty
four second. It's remitting here before the Bulldogs will be
(46:02):
back at full strength.
Speaker 22 (46:03):
Two minutes remaining in the period.
Speaker 4 (46:06):
The Oath comes out of the zone. They got a
potential break. They come in over the line. Kramer took
kutsa break with a shot nicely done as Messier was
turned away and Wisconsin comes back into the line with scannal.
Scannal pulls up slides it back door. Gorbatenko was at
(46:26):
the crease area, but the pass comes all the way
back out of the zone, trying to skate it down.
A lot of hustle by Sidura one twenty nine remeding
in the first period, still one nothing, Wisconsin buckloose along
the boards down in the corner, back over to try
and pick it up, and they let him play in
(46:48):
the corner on the near side and at the point
comes back out of the zone and Wisconsin regroups they'll
come out of their own zone on the brake, kip
down in the corner and trying to chase it down
per card. They worked the wing on the near side
one minute remitting in the period and the fuck is
loosened the neutral zone picked up in control. Casabad lays
(47:11):
it back down in the corner and Venusio goes down,
gets up along the back wall, controls the puck, leads
it out on the tip and it went off the
stick of Hannah Elverson. Poor checking trying to hold the
zone back at the point on the right side, controlling
and moving it up ICE's mayor Mayor and they center
(47:34):
the pass. It went through the crease. Ye Badgers turn
and come out of their own zone with it. Maybe
one more rush here on the period and the Venusio
down in the corner centered it right out and top.
Kirsten Sims down in the corner, pulls up and controls it.
Kirsten Simms stick handing with a pucker round over to
Weeden comes back.
Speaker 22 (47:55):
Of the sim between the circles.
Speaker 4 (47:57):
Shot as one by cast Go, but a nice move
by Kirsten sim.
Speaker 9 (48:03):
She was determined to get that shot off on the
one she as she wound through the slot, the high
slot in the mid slot and let.
Speaker 22 (48:09):
Her I want to get my sixth goal of the year.
But she did get it.
Speaker 9 (48:13):
She ain't afraid to shoot the puck. Oh boy, well,
about almost six seconds left to see if Eden can
win the draw and get a shot on net here and.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
We'll have that face off coming up Fan to draw
the Badger's maybe one more shot. Harvey with a shot,
Dan Gasco plays it in the corner. What an exciting
first period.
Speaker 9 (48:34):
Yes, it was some great puck movements, some opportunities other
than that one odd man rush that we allowed near
the end of the period. Here we played pretty well.
Take in the middle of the rink away. I like
it with a one old lead after the first So.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
The Badgers escaped to the locker room and we'll be
back with our intermission covering right after this time out.
This is Badger Women's Hockey, brought to you by Oak Park.
Plays independence when you wanted, assistance when you need it,
and we're under way. The Loos will play it up
(49:09):
the boards driven down to the Badgers zone. God pans
David McNaughton. The buck is loose down on the corner
of the right side of the Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 22 (49:18):
With it is KK.
Speaker 4 (49:19):
Harvey skating in coming in over the line, controls it
with a drive.
Speaker 27 (49:23):
Wow Man Wisconsin. Schorge the air over to Potter with
a drive in front the.
Speaker 4 (49:39):
K blas the goaltender getting back, Wow hit the pipe
by Harvey gas Cohen's on her back and Harvey hit
the pipe. Harvey with another drive and gas go.
Speaker 9 (49:50):
With the sage just going. Didn't even have a stick.
Speaker 28 (49:53):

I'm great now.

It pumped me up like that.
Speaker 4 (52:16):
That's that's awesome.
Speaker 12 (52:16):
Thank you. It's good to be here.
Speaker 11 (52:18):
Yeah, good to have you. What did you make in
the first period. Well, it's these two teams.
Speaker 30 (52:21):
Right, they when they go at it, it's it's usually
something pretty good. So yesterday I was here yesterday, but
I watched the replay and I mean, it just feels
like there's there's some bite to this game. D luth
Is wanting to be in their face, in Wisconsin's face,
and and push that. And we saw after the whistle
(52:41):
that ends up with a couple of penalties. There's some
some nerves are frayed. It's uh, it's pretty good hockey
this weekend.
Speaker 11 (52:48):
Absolutely. I mean it was very physically yesterday.
Speaker 10 (52:50):
Perhaps some unfinished business obviously Shappy going to the box
and then they're being a two roughing penalties offsetting with
that Wisconsin power play. But it's a lot of after
the whistle stuff going on. I know that's something that
the referees want to stop. But when it's two teams
like this, number four, number one, You can't really get
out of that, can you.
Speaker 30 (53:07):
The referees don't want to be a part of it
as much as you know, as they probably could be
today and yesterday.
Speaker 4 (53:14):
They don't want to make this into.
Speaker 11 (53:16):
A special teams festival.
Speaker 30 (53:18):
But at some point you do have to call a
little bit of something, just assert that we're not gonna
let this go on.
Speaker 12 (53:27):
That's the end of it.
Speaker 30 (53:28):
Play the games between the whistles and and let's go
at it cleanly that way.
Speaker 10 (53:34):
Yeah, and special teams has sort of been an issue
for the Badgers. They score two power play goals yesterday. Those,
of course, were the last two, the equalizing goal and
then the winner with eight seconds left.
Speaker 11 (53:43):
Why do you think they are struggling so much?
Speaker 10 (53:45):
We know how much star power they have on the
power play, but they haven't really been able to click.
Speaker 30 (53:49):
Yeah, this is I mean, we're getting into a point
in hockey where the block shot is king, and it's
just so many more players are just willing to throw
an arm or a leg and out and.
Speaker 22 (54:01):
Get in the way.
Speaker 30 (54:02):
And you look at you know that there's there's video
on everyone now everyone knows what teams are trying to do,
and so positioning is is so much more important than
it has been.
Speaker 11 (54:13):
So I think we're starting to.
Speaker 30 (54:14):
See that now that that you know, it's a chess game.
You know, you have to play a little bit a
couple of steps ahead, and Wisconsin maybe has to reassess
where their best options are and then starting to try
to open things up a little bit more that way.
But you also don't want to, you know, take away
the passing lanes that they develop their passing some of
(54:35):
the best parts.
Speaker 22 (54:35):
Of their game.
Speaker 30 (54:36):
They need to keep working that to have it to
open up and make sure that the chances still get there.
Speaker 11 (54:44):
Yeah, and it's interesting mention the block shots.
Speaker 10 (54:46):
It's like teams will come to Madison and almost stat
pad they'll finish the games or the series with career
highs and block shots, or the goaltenders often get their
career highs and saves. It's just when you play Wisconsin,
you're you have to accept that you're gonna be, if
you're a goaltender, facing forty five fifty shots, and if
you're a player, you're gonna be having to throw your
body in front of all these.
Speaker 30 (55:06):
It's just a function of the puck possession of Wisconsin generally.
I mean this is, you know, you know, a pretty
general statement, but they usually get.
Speaker 4 (55:15):
Sixty percent or more of the shot attempts.
Speaker 30 (55:18):
It's it's usually less than that when you get into
the games against teams like d luth and Minnesota and
Awaio State. But they're still getting more chances with the
punk and that's the way they like to like building
out of the defensive zone.
Speaker 4 (55:31):
And you know, when they're able to skate like.
Speaker 30 (55:34):
KK Harvey did on that that the goal that she scored.
She's able to have that lane up the whole left
of the ice and look what she can do with
the puck. That's it was a pretty amazing shot. And
it's those kinds of things that open up so much more.
Speaker 4 (55:47):
For everyone else.
Speaker 30 (55:47):
When you let someone have that kind of ice, the
defenses have to adjust, and you know, sometimes they do
it better than not this.
Speaker 11 (55:54):
I guess that's very true. And now I want to
ask about the men's hockey season.
Speaker 10 (55:58):
Obviously it's coming about what can we expect from those
guys obviously finding themselves in the polls.
Speaker 11 (56:03):
What can we expect?
Speaker 30 (56:03):
Yeah, it's a pretty good start here, winning a couple
of games that linden Wood, which normally you'd say, yeah,
they should win those games, but they didn't last year.
They lost the first one, they had to go to
overtime in the second one to win that one. But
they got a couple of wins down there, look pretty
good doing it. Defense looks like it's a little bit
more solid. We saw that an exhibition game against under
(56:24):
eighteen team on Thursday really locked that down. Maybe a
little bit of a dip in the second period, but.
Speaker 4 (56:31):
I think there.
Speaker 11 (56:32):
We're gonna know a lot more in the next.
Speaker 22 (56:33):
Couple of weeks.
Speaker 30 (56:35):
Home series against Minnesota State this week, which is a
pretty good team and has a lot of connections Wisconsin
on both sides. That's where Mike Casings and Todd Canna
from the coaching staff were before Wisconsin. A couple of
players are former Minnesota State players, and the Minnesota State
coaches are former Wisconsin assistant coaches, so there's a lot
(56:57):
of crossover on that. So we're gonna know a lot
more after that series, and.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
Then in a couple of weeks opening Big Ten.
Speaker 30 (57:03):
Against Minnesota at the Goal Center is another one of
those measuring six where you're gonna see, well, you know,
this is there enough change from last season to be
able to think. This is gonna be a team that's

This is Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Oak Park Place.

And welcome back to the intermission show. My name's Aden Michaels.
Speaker 10 (59:36):
This is presented to you by Field Madison, your premier
luxury auto group, serving customers since nineteen seventy one. That
was Todd Maleski before the break. Always nice to see him,
Always nice to have a chat with him. Glad he
could make it on the show for the intermission. Badger's
lead one nothing after the first period. Caroline Harvey, with
quite the spectacular goal, went coast to coast, did it
(59:56):
all herself and absolutely roofed it by Gasco. And I
was ending next to a few Minnesota Duluth fans as
this goal went in and they were dumbfounded as to
how Gasco let that goal up because she is such
an incredible goaltender. You never see her let up goals
from tight angles like that. But Caroline Harvey just roofed
by her got the Badgers on the score sheet. Just
(01:00:18):
four shots on goal for the Bulldog It's not too
dissimilar to what we saw yesterday for the Bulldogs. I
think they had five or six after the first period.
The Badgers were, i think also at fifteen, which they
have now, so very similar. It's of course a physical
game as we expected as well a lot of penalties.
Speaker 11 (01:00:37):
So the first penalty was just a hooking call.
Speaker 10 (01:00:39):
That's what led to Caroline Harvey's power play goal when
she went coast to coast. Then another penalty for Wisconsin
which resulted then in a five on three for the Bulldogs,
which the Badgers killed. In fact, on that five on three,
and then that second penalty or the second power player
for the Bulldogs, they didn't have a single shot on goal.
The Badgers had the only shot on goal on that
(01:01:01):
second penalty, and their defense was incredible. Badgers or the
Bulldogs were really struggling with zone entries on that power play,
and that's a big chance. When you're down a goal
in a game like this against the Badgers where you
need to get back in it. It's hard to come
from behind and you have a five on three, you'd
think that they would get one. But the Badgers were
doing incredibly on that front. And then we saw some
(01:01:22):
physicality that we were talking about. Shappy got called for
roughing penalty. The referees disgusted. Was it just gonna be
because there was already a penalty coming up on the Bulldogs.
It was gonna be a tripping call going against Minnesota
Duluth and the Badgers were gonna get on the power play,
and then after the whistle, Shapa Valevova with a little
roughing penalty, and then the referees discussed it realized that
(01:01:43):
there should be two roughing penalties, so they were offsetting.
Speaker 11 (01:01:46):
Badgers went on the power play. They weren't able to score, but.
Speaker 10 (01:01:52):
It's certainly something to look out for in the second
period is can the Badgers stay out of the box
not take the in I'm not talking about a tripping
penalty here, a hooking penalty. Can you limit the extracurricular
stuff after the whistle. That's something that we saw yesterday.
Didn't really get called much. Yesterday the referees were letting
it go, but today it seems like the referees are
(01:02:14):
putting something on and Paul, if you want to jump
in here, I mean, we were talking about this before
the game, about physical it's been what do we see
in the first period with those after the whistle shots.
Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
Mark was concerned about that and apparently talked to the
officials last night, maybe called sheep, I don't know, but
they were calling and saying, hey, look there's a lot
of stuff going on that doesn't need to be this way.
Get it under control and that kind of thing. And
you saw a little bit of it in the first period,
(01:02:47):
but I didn't think as much as we saw in
the game last night.
Speaker 10 (01:02:51):
Definitely not. And now that the referees are calling it,
the players know that. Yeah, they go, you know, take
a shot after the whistle, you're gonna sit two minutes
in the box.
Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
So I'll tell you what though, that was a fun
period to watch and broadcast. And you talk about up
and down action by both teams. These are two quality
hockey teams.
Speaker 22 (01:03:09):
Or both of them.
Speaker 10 (01:03:10):
Oh yeah, most definitely. And I know we were saying
yesterday even though they're the number four ranked team in
the nation. D Luth has kind of looked at as
an underdog team because of Wisconsin and Ohio State and
Minnesota for example.
Speaker 11 (01:03:21):
But these Bulldogs are a team to look out for.
Speaker 10 (01:03:23):
They are a really good team and the first big
test of the Badger season this year, and so far.
Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
They're passing it that test. And yeah, you look at
the look at the rankings, and it's no surprise you
got Ohio State, Minnesota, Minnesota, d Luke, and Wisconsin being
the top four. The Gophers for an example, they swept
Saint Cloud over the weekend. Ohio State beat but Meggie
State twice. Minnesota State and Saint Thomas split their series.
(01:03:53):
But when you to the end of the season, it'll
be interesting though, with the Olympics and taking players and
seeing what's gonna happen. Maybe the Championships is wide open. Yeah,
in terms of teams that could potentially win it. But
I wouldn't be surprised to see these four.
Speaker 10 (01:04:11):
Teams up near the top most definitely. All right, well,
I'm gonna hand it off to Greenie. You guys have
a great call. Second period in a few seconds.
Speaker 22 (01:04:19):
All right, we're ready to go.
Speaker 10 (01:04:21):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
Badgers will be skitting from our left through our right
here in the second period at Lebon Arena, Mark Greenhall
is back from the locker room, goes down there after
each period, goaltending coach. How many years in Wisconsin, nineteen
or twenty?
Speaker 9 (01:04:40):
Yeah, this is my nineteenth season with the program. Yep,
gone fast, and we began.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
The period with both teams at full strength and the
Bulldogs will play it up the boards on the far side.
KK Harvey's out with Jungles. Badgers counter with Sims and
Shapeo Valley, Boba and Eden on the forward line. Jungles
will drive it back over to uh KK Harvey, who
(01:05:07):
leads it through on the plate of Eden. It goes
to Sims, give and go. Chappyvlobova with the puck down
of the corner, banged it off the back wall around
over to Eden. Eden with it plays it along the
boards on the near side. Badgers try to hold the zone.
Duluth comes out of the break. They work through center
ice messy a lost at Kirsten Sims where the puck
(01:05:31):
breaks to the head. On the pass KK Harvey hop
the left wing stick hand of the puck dropped it
to the point Shapo Valley Bova around the boards and
the plate of Jungles, who'll drive it low in the zone.
Eden on the fore check. Minnesota, Duluth, Kathy Hall and
Eden on the fore check. They hold the zone. We'll
be get in shot deflected. The rebound is clear to
(01:05:54):
the wing on the near side. That's a temple Hall
and Wisconsin comes in over of the line. Here's scam
moving it in. Scandal in the low slot, fast intercepted
and Deluth will turn and back. They come through neutral ice,
playing it over the Wisconsin line. Aba Murphy with it
out on the break. Badgers pick it up in the
(01:06:15):
neutral zone. Scandal is tied up looking for the outlet
in the pass comes around over to Gorbatanco carried it
in and wristed a shot toward the goal into the
glove of gas Co, who made the save. She at
fourteen in the first twenty minutes of play.
Speaker 9 (01:06:33):
That Gorbeo had a couple of defenders hanging on her,
but she still got that shot off. It got muffled,
but good attempt.
Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
Yelly Gorbitanco out of Barrington, Illinois, five eleven junior left
handed shot for the Badgers. Two younger sisters on this roster.
There's a shot driven wide of the net on the
far side over to pick it up. The Bulldogs come
through center ice, center of the Wisconsin line. They drive
(01:06:59):
it around the boards off the stick of Sidura. Sadura
tries to skate it down in the corner. Badgers will
work it up the boards, but Minnesota Duluth dumps it
back in going over to pick it up that four
Wisconsin is Jones around of the far side. It's played
to the blue line of Minnesota Duluth near boards, and
(01:07:21):
the Bulldogs work it out of their own zone. They'll
drive it up ice Heres Kramer wow kicked out by
Ava McNaughton on the Kramer drive boy, and it goes
all the way back in on the Bulldogs. Play is
gonna be stopped. Kramer is a good looking player for
the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth out of Waterloo, Ontario.
Speaker 9 (01:07:44):
You're not kidding, Paul. She's a fast skater with good
hands and a hard shot, and she put a point
blank shot on Ava right there.
Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
Seventeen thirty five remaining in the second period. Here's kk
Harvey pass comes out of the zone. The Badger's got
a clear it out jungles in the neutral zone waiting.
Speaker 22 (01:08:03):
For everybody to get back on side.
Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
She'll skate in behind the net of Wisconsin and angle
the pass intended for McCarthy in front of the Badger
bench trying to pick it up, and the peking Hogen
on the fore check trying to control it in the
neutral zone around over the jungles in over the line.
Pekin Hogen break into the nat peekon Hogen around the
(01:08:25):
boards on the far side. Jungles over to help out.
Duluth turns and they come out of their own zone.
Work it in over the Wisconsin line, fire it wide.
O'Brien on the rebound shot and Wisconsin moving it up.
Ice controlling it coming in over the line. McCarthy with
it swept offer stick. Duluth turns in a collision. O'Brien
(01:08:48):
collides with Cassie Hall and down goes Aba Murphy along
with one of the Bulldogs on the back wall, and
Wisconsin controls. They come out of their own zone and
they'll play at Cassie Hall over to Eden back door.
Kirst and Sims shot it high and wide and the
Minnesota Duluth looks to bring it out over to center.
(01:09:11):
Ice Badgers in the neutral zone pick it up. Kirsten,
Sims and Sheppie go back in over the line. Here's
Kirsten Simms pulling it up at the point of the
path over the Venusio try to go low on the
right side. That's intercepted. Col with it comes out, so
Dura and Kroc on that forward line. They played around
(01:09:31):
the boards of the Venusio down on the wing. It's
going to be set up. Minnesota Duluth where a shot
Aba casually steered it aside four checking deep in the
Zona's McLeod trying to hold it in the Badger's zone.
Wisconsin will angle it to the right side, skating it
down Chapel Valley. Bobah comes right on front back Header
(01:09:54):
Sims had an open net, couldn't get off the solid
drown Oh boy, nice moved by Shappeo Valley Vova breaking
to the net and going back down in the corner
and controlling it. As Jones of Wisconsin, she'll bring it
out of the zone trying to pick it out. Kramer
whistle play stopped at the blue line of Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (01:10:16):
Got it off sides there by the Bulldogs. It's glad
to see Jones attempt to clear the zone with it wisely.
Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
Mackenzie Jones in the lineup for Leila Edwards, who's out
for the Badgers. Only report on her potential knee situation.
She was on crutches and going back down back in
behind KK Harvey on the far boards over the Jungles
Jungles with it moving it up Ice Jungles comes in
(01:10:44):
over the line, controlling the puck down in the corner.
Badgers try to skate it down over to pick it up.
Andeluth works it out of their own zone. They try
to lead it up the far side. Kk Harvey belong
the back wall, trying to control it. The minutes Soda
Duluth has control of the puck as they bring it
around with Mayor Johansson and O'Brien, and it was kick
(01:11:08):
loose by Hall trying to go to Gorbatanco. Badgers look
to set it up shot and went high and wide
by a cream and Wisconsin works it in the neutral zone.
One nothing to score. Gorbatanco down in the corner. Barbitanco
with it kind of one arming the puck on the
far side, goes around back in behind the net. Wisconsin
(01:11:30):
to the point, we've got a penalty coming up against
the Bulldogs.
Speaker 9 (01:11:34):
Delayed penalty.
Speaker 4 (01:11:35):
Yeah, yeah, it's going to be a hooking call, sending
the Badgers on the powerplayer.
Speaker 9 (01:11:42):
Well, that's good here, we've converted on one of those today, Paul,
maybe we can get another one on the power play.
Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
Time of the penalty, uh by forty four and going
to the penalty box for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 9 (01:12:01):
Camden Davis, I think or extra forward or was it
ray Mere yeah, ray Meire No, it's number it's David yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
And then Badgers with the power play opportunity. They were
one of two on their power play situation. They now
have four power play goals in seventeen attempts on the year.
KK Harvey has two sims, says one and Cassie Hall
has one SIMS and KK Harvey playing the points on
(01:12:34):
the power play. Here's Harvey moving it in with a
shot around over to Weedon comes back out on top,
over to KK Harvey. Harvey moving it in with a
drive and that's block.
Speaker 9 (01:12:46):
I'll take the puck coming off for stick anytime, Paul.
It's a nice shot.
Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
And we'll have another face off coming up with the
power play on for the Badgers.
Speaker 22 (01:12:58):
One remaining on the penalty.
Speaker 4 (01:13:01):
Time to Davis face off coming to the right side
of Gas Cove back in the Bulldogs zone. Chapel Valley,
Goova in the face off circle and the draw comes loose.
Badgers hold it. KK Harvey with it around on the
far side, moving it in shot clock o game Lou
Sims in front. They go on the right side back
(01:13:23):
over to Sims, Sims controlling it, Sims behind the net
looking for the outlet. In the past shot in front,
o handerscramble and the Bulldogs cover as gas code down
in the crease. Somewhere in there lies the puck but
not in the net.
Speaker 9 (01:13:41):
Yeah, several attempts there, some a lot of congestion people
right in the blue paint there.
Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
And Wisconsin, we'll try to win another face off coming up,
this one to the left side of gas co Eden
in the face off circle.
Speaker 22 (01:14:00):
Badger.
Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
Power play stays the same here around over the Sims
back out on top, over to Harvey.
Speaker 22 (01:14:07):
Harvey with it.
Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
There's a drive and it's going to be played around
on the far side, dump to the point. Held in
comes on the play over to Kirsten Simms, back to Harvey.
Shot picked out of the air. Oh nice gloves saved, guys,
gas go.
Speaker 9 (01:14:22):
Harvey really releases that puck really quick. It was from
the high slot almost out to the point straight away.
But love saved by Glasgow and.
Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
Well la unit was out there for fifty seven seconds.
So the power play Wisconsin will change up, brings out
all new legs, so to speak.
Speaker 22 (01:14:41):
Fresh attackers here.
Speaker 9 (01:14:43):
Yeah, let's keep the pressure on.
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
Jungles and Murphy are back at the point. McCarthy is
up front along with Scannell and Cassie Hall, and the
play down in the corner on the right side, goes around.
The Bulldogs look to bring it out of their own
zone and they'll dump it down. That's Johansson who dumped
it the length of the ice. The Badgers go back
(01:15:06):
in their own zone the McCarthy and Jungles. O'Brien has
it tied up along the boards, coming over to try
and help out. O'Brien did a good job there. Now
Duluth gets Johansson in on the play as well. Finally,
Wisconsin will clear it out of their own zone over
to Scannal. Scannal stick handles with a puck, comes in
(01:15:26):
over the line, pulls up on the far wing, play
to the point, over to Murphy to Vivian. Jungles comes
on the play, moving it in haul with a shot
that the deflected wide of the goal and it comes
along the boards on the near side of the Bulldogs
clear it center eyes, Jungles retrieves, gives it to Murphy.
(01:15:47):
Murphy flips it from left to right. It rolls down
in the corner of the near wing. Badgers force it,
but it comes back out over the center eyes. They
angle it off the board and Bulldogs back it fullst
so Wisconsin won for three on their power play opportunities.
Back at full strength fo Minnesota, Duluth Badgers come back
(01:16:10):
into the Bulldog line leading one to nothing in the
game and right with.
Speaker 22 (01:16:14):
A drive right on and the save as made.
Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
Yeah, a nice shot on her off wing here coming
down the right wall at Gascoin was there to answer
the bell, basing it off here to her left. Picard
will take the.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
Draw and coming up for the Badgers, Mary Ann Pricard
out of Quebec back to the point on the playoff,
the Jones back in behind the at both teams at
full strength. Only one goal in the game, that by
KK Harvey at six oh seven of the first period.
A Badger power player and Wisconsin will work it up
(01:16:54):
the ice on the near side. They controlled it and
with its per Card along with Halverson, move it in
stick save worked away from in front of the net.
Back in the Bulldog zone. Wisconsin trying to hold it
in down in the corner, trying to skate it down.
Speaker 22 (01:17:10):
Deluth turns to come out of their own zone.
Speaker 4 (01:17:13):
Fuck in front of the Badger bench and her eyes
deflected around and controlled by Burr who's out with Pukola
and McLeod. Badgers take it away. Here's Shappy vale Ova
off on the play. There's a drive and the wrap
around Shoppy Valevova and it's stuck.
Speaker 22 (01:17:32):
Oh on the near side. She almost snuck it through.
Speaker 9 (01:17:36):
But yeah, on her forehand near coming around behind the net,
almost tucked it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
In the spider size, you can see where she can
pass the puck.
Speaker 9 (01:17:47):
She can shook the puck and she doesn't doesn't matter
about traffic around her. She goes right in the thick
of it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:54):
Eleven oh one remaining in the second period. Sims with
it back and the venusio back in behind the net.
Wisconsin loved to have a little cushion here of a
couple of gold lead around on the far side over
the Kirsten simms down in the corner. Sims comes back
on the wing on the near side, trying to control
(01:18:15):
it and the play comes out of the zone and
working it up ice.
Speaker 22 (01:18:19):
It's going to be played back down in the corner.
Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
The Bulldogs are They're at full strength along the back
wall in the Badger's zone, O'Brien trying to control it. O'Brien,
Johanson and May are out and Wisconsin.
Speaker 22 (01:18:33):
Clear's skating up Ice.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
Eden tried to pick it up for the Badgers for
checking now trying to hold it in the zone. Kirsten
Simms took it away. They got shappy in front of
the net. They couldn't get her the puck and Beck
comes the Bulldogs and down Venusio back to cover. Vanusio
tied up, taken away and bettered in front of the net.
(01:18:55):
The Badgers angle it off the boards and McCarthy's skating
after it picks it up. Break into the NAT Bottom
dolls Bnusio down on the wing. It'splayed behind to that
of Minnesota Duluthe Badgers try to work it to set
it up for the drive. Poor checking with two players
here now trying to hold the zone and coming up.
(01:19:17):
Ice controlling it. Here's Puckala comes in over the line,
Buckalo moving to get in. The Badgers will stop the play.
Bad whistle and action's going to be stopped here. Yeah,
we're going to have a penalty, are we You're going

Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
Plays McCarthy in the penalty box for the Badgers, giving
the Pulldogs a powerplay situation here with nine four remitting
in the second period, the Bulldogs zero of two and
the power play so far in this game, and it
goes up over the glass and out of play. This
second period is brought to you by Fields of Madison,
(01:21:15):
your premier luxury auto group serving customers since nineteen seventy one.
Based off coming to the right side of Ava McNaughton,
Badger's shorthanded on the penalty kill, working the wing on
the near side, Wisconsin will clear it back to center
ice right is out jungles Harvey and Eden on the
(01:21:37):
penalty killed for Wisconsin Bulldogs looking for the first goal
of the game. Wisconsin's got won up by Harvey, leading
by that score of one to nothing. The Bulldogs along
the near wing in the Badger's zone will set it up.
Framer is out on the wing on the pass, they
come back out on top. Framer's got the puck, slides
(01:21:59):
it on the near side. It comes back over the
Kramer on the pass. Kramer going around up on top
there's a drive kick a Harvey with it turned and
banged it off the glass at her out and it
comes loose. Aiden trying to skate it down, but back
goes Kramer to cover Eden against Kramer on the fore check.
The Bulldogs back in behind their own net. They'll work
(01:22:22):
it up Ice coming out of the zone. Badger's on
the penalty kill. Fifty two seconds remaining in the penalty time.
They'll work it around in front. Kramer holds his zone
four Minnesota dulute. There's Kramer with a drive and Ava
McNaughton put it away on the glove and stops the action.
Speaker 9 (01:22:42):
They saved there. We're seeing some good pressure by her
forwards on the penalty kill to kind of help the
other defenseman popping it out of the zone now and
then nice job Abe.
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
In her seventieth game as a Badger goaltender, she's won
sixty one, four games she has lost, and two have
ended in a tie. Her career save percentage is better
than ninety four percent, and whistle and play.
Speaker 22 (01:23:10):
Is going to be stopped.
Speaker 11 (01:23:10):
What have we got here? I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:23:13):
They're gonna had a.
Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
Couple of players down. They're gonna call any penalties. Yeah,
I think they're gonna call one on the Bulldogs.
Speaker 9 (01:23:18):
Yeah, there are they taking one or two? Are they
matching them? I'm hard to tell here.
Speaker 22 (01:23:25):
They're distant to the penalty box, is messier.
Speaker 9 (01:23:28):
Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
So that'll equal up and thirty five seconds. The Badgers
will have a powerplay situation on. But right now both
teams are shorthanded one person playing four on four plus goaltender. Yeah,
then the Badgers will get that power play in thirty
five seconds around on the far side, control to get
(01:23:56):
the Bulldogs come out of their own zone. Carlson and
Wisconsin down in the corner of the Minnesota Duluth zone.
You've got Sims out along with Chapel Valle Boba around
over to Harvey.
Speaker 22 (01:24:10):
With a shot.
Speaker 9 (01:24:11):
But she's gonna get at her beat at her beach.
Speaker 4 (01:24:13):
You did, couldn't get the solid shot away. Gas Cole
was down ad in six seconds. The Badgers are going
to have a power play situation on. Bulldogs are angling
it up the board. They play it to the Badger blueline.
Badger's on a power play. Here's Potter with it, moving
it right out in front, shot block and Sims comes
(01:24:35):
over to help out. Wisconsin's Harvey holds it at the point,
controlling it just inside the line. Here's Sims back door
to heating, fanned on the drive. She had a good
opportunity there, Chapel valley, Boba around over to Sims and
a little given goal. Here's Sims back to Harvey with
a shot. Harvey's got a lot of shots on in
(01:24:59):
this game. Quick releases and it's played back in behind
the net. Wisconsin over trying to cover six fifty eight
remaining and controlling it. Here's Harvey with it off on
the wing. The Badgers hold his own. Harvey with it,
moving it in back out on top to Sims, shot
block and gasco looking for the puck and Badgers set
(01:25:23):
it up over the Sims over the Harvey shot it.
Speaker 22 (01:25:25):
High and wide. Around on the far side.
Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
It comes to Sims, stick handing with a puck back
over the Harvey again, take it one more time and
moving it in. Doesn't She goes behind.
Speaker 22 (01:25:38):
The net, sim slamming her stick on the ice.
Speaker 4 (01:25:41):
Shot and that went high and wide of the goal.
Badgers hold it in like a shooting gallery. Here, put
it up one more time. You got it on the
far side controlling it. They scores the goals for the Racers.
(01:26:02):
Your third go there and Wisconsin lage it pute to nothing.
Speaker 9 (01:26:08):
Man, what a great goal on a great pass from
I think Shabby through the slot with Potter on the
back door, banged it home. Hoh Man, what a nice goal.
Nothing that guessco could do about that, Paul, No, this
is a great puck movement man, right on the back door.
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
Thirteen fifty four the time of the goal for Wisconsin.
Speaker 22 (01:26:37):
Potter does get the goal.
Speaker 4 (01:26:39):
The assist to Chapel valle Boba yep, and Kirsten Sims
on the goal. I like that, Paul. And for Chapo
valle Boba it's her third assist of the air. For
Kirsten Sims it's her sixth of the year, and for
(01:27:04):
Potter her third goal of the year.
Speaker 9 (01:27:08):
Yeah, she's getting in the offensive production a little bit,
isn't she. Yes, nice save there off the blocker by
Eva on a shot from the high slot.
Speaker 4 (01:27:22):
Comes around on the far side of the Badgers. We'll
try to get it out of their own zone and
there's a drive covering it up. Mcnon. It's bumped out
and there's another shot blocked in traffic Wisconsin along the
boards on the near side, coming up ice, controlling it,
laid back down in the corner over to try and
(01:27:42):
control it. Down to five thirty one remaining in the
second period, chant of one two, we want more. If
they could get one more, you'd kind of get the
feel that Duluth is not going.
Speaker 22 (01:27:54):
To score three against his team.
Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
They could.
Speaker 22 (01:27:57):
Yep, whoa, there was a check by girl.
Speaker 4 (01:28:02):
And they're gonna let him play five ten reminute shots
are thirty three to nine in the game. The Badgers
out shot him forty nine to seventeen yesterday. Wisconsin is
averaging over forty shots a game.
Speaker 22 (01:28:18):
Of course, they did that all of the last year. Yeah,
for the season.
Speaker 9 (01:28:23):
Yep, they just count the ones that go in there.
Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Unfortunately, around on the far side, coming up ice, controlling
get Both teams are back at full strength, laid back
down on the corner and Wisconsin controlling the puck coming
up ice and with it. That's Sodura who bumped it
down in the corner and along the back wall trying
to control it. There Minnesota, Duluth's coal Abra Murphy is there.
(01:28:51):
They come out of the break. That's his n right
or pardon me Picard moving it up Rice to n right,
comes in over the.
Speaker 22 (01:28:59):
Line back down on the corner.
Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
Halverson centered at nice nice pass from behind the back
and back comes Minnesota Duluth. They'll angle it off the boards,
chasing it quickly. Is a mayor mayor with it looking
for help, to try and help, but the Badgers will
go back in their own zone and Abra Murphy picks
(01:29:21):
it up after the save from McNaughton and controlling it.
Wisconsin's Mackenzie Jones up Ice on the brakeside over to Halverson.
That's turned back. Here's Johansson coming in off the wing
back enders out of the the buck came loose, covering
up in front. Three four badgers there. Ava on her back, yeah,
(01:29:45):
and they're covering up for helping her out a little
bit that was too close for comfort.
Speaker 9 (01:29:50):
Paul Ava makes the initial stay with the right pad
and then they slides through the crease and he's able
to find it and cover it up. Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
A couple of people in the crowd are making the
motion of bowing to the bathroom, you know, around on
the far side controlling it. Another sellout crowd here in
Lebon and the moving it up ice in the neutral zone,
controlling it. Wisconsin back over to set it up. They'll
come back on the play over the KK Harvey. They
(01:30:24):
work the wing on the near side, gonna be dumped
back down in the corner, going back over as Harvey
to pick it up. Harvey controls the puck, slides it
out on the brake, Wisconsin comes through neutral eyes.
Speaker 22 (01:30:37):
They'll dump it down in behind.
Speaker 4 (01:30:39):
Gas Coo whips it to her left side, trying to
get help to break it out of the zone. Eat
to the point Eden is checked from behind, they're gonna
go on the power plant.
Speaker 22 (01:30:52):
Yep, they are.
Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
They're calling a penalty against they checked Eden from behind,
so d Lute's gonna get another penalty and the Badgers
are going to go back on the power player.
Speaker 9 (01:31:03):
Yeah. I think there was some discussion amongst the officials
to keep the game under control. You're seeing a lot
more penalties call today, but that's probably a good thing
and that you know, nobody's gonna get hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:31:16):
And we'll have the face off coming up. Let's see
Harvey's going to be out. I would suspect it's pretty
much the unit you would expect out there. That number
one potter is going to be on the left side
along with Chapel Valley, Bova, Eden, Simms and Harvey and
the draw Wisconsin trying to win it back of the
(01:31:37):
Bulldogs zone. Three minutes and four seconds remaining it it
slides all the way back down KK Harvey going back
up to pick it up.
Speaker 22 (01:31:45):
KK with it behind the.
Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
Net, lookout in front, shot block man. WHOA the badger's
on a turnover there. See if they can get organized
and come out of the zone.
Speaker 22 (01:31:56):
I assure you they will.
Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
And there's Harvey that backing over the line to Eden,
eating with the puck Eating down on the corner on
the near side, over to set it up back in
the point. On the play over to Kirsten Sim out
to Harvey. Harvey with it shot and that was pushed
wide of the goal to the near side at the
point Sims holds it in around over to Eden. They
(01:32:21):
go back over to Sims, Sims moving it in shot
block and Sim's upset there, but gas Cole skated over
to cut down the angle.
Speaker 9 (01:32:32):
Yeah, Sims did a nice job. A little toe dragged
there to get some clearance to get that shot on net.
Didn't want to get it blocked on the way.
Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
End two minutes in eighteen seconds remitting in the second period,
Tutor nothing Wisconsin thirty five to twelve and shots Badgers
with the lead on the scoreboard and Cassie Hall trying
to win the draft for the Badgers, and Scandal is
out along with Corbett Tanco on the power play. That's
(01:33:01):
got one minute two seconds remaining, play it down in
the corner. Garba Tanco's like right down, yeah, and two
Badgers collide with one Bulldog back in the zone and
Minnesota Duluth shoots.
Speaker 22 (01:33:15):
It all the way up the ice, but back to cover.
Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Here's Vivian Jungles out to be Dina Minnesota coming up
i ice on the playover to Cassie Hall. Hall works
it around, decides to pull up at the right point.
Comes on the playover, the jungles around on the far
side in front Scandal with the tip waddling up his
gasco and play will be stopped in front of the
(01:33:38):
night of Minnesota.
Speaker 22 (01:33:39):
Delude.
Speaker 4 (01:33:40):
Yeah, you got the goalie and six other players in
the blue paint there, all of them inside that blue Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:33:45):
Kind of a town hall meeting right there in the crease.
But good job of getting the puck on net. Man, oh, man,
I bet your guests going sleeps well at night.
Speaker 22 (01:33:57):
Ay, I tell you what, well. Her career is very impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
Yeah, ninety four save percentage goals against Savage at one
point seven to seven per and Ava McNaught. Yeah, obviously
the top two goaltenders in the league. There's a drive shot.
Speaker 14 (01:34:13):
Yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (01:34:18):
Don't know if you might be.
Speaker 4 (01:34:23):
Will Wage and say on the official call.
Speaker 9 (01:34:26):
I think it was tipped by Shappy perhaps on Harvey
shot from uh right about the top of the right circle.
Speaker 4 (01:34:34):
Yep, man, I think it's gonna go to Chapeau Valley Bova.
Speaker 9 (01:34:39):
Man, Paul, what a great I'm glad to see Harvey
just putting the puck on net like that. Wow, Shappy
tip that shot by Harvey from the upper right circle.
Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
And and it has not been officially put up on
the board yet. That's a big goal because it gives
Badgers a little yeah, three goal cushion here.
Speaker 22 (01:35:02):
They're probably looking at that one right now.
Speaker 9 (01:35:05):
Yeah it could be.
Speaker 8 (01:35:09):
Wow.
Speaker 9 (01:35:17):
Yep, boy, that was nice, good puck possession, good puck movement.
And then it ends up with a.
Speaker 4 (01:35:26):
Goal on that power play, and Wisconsin gets the third
goal and it's going to be played back in behind
that with one fifteen remaining in the period, coming up
by Minnesota Duluth through the blue line or over it
and back behind the net of Wisconsin over here, you know,
but going post to posts looking for the puck, Where
(01:35:49):
is it? Where is the traffic? Minnesota Dlupe digging for
it down in the corner. One a minute remaining in
the period.
Speaker 9 (01:35:56):
Great play by h Picard.
Speaker 4 (01:35:58):
They're aggressive and coming up ice controlling it and there's
a drive and it's going to be played behind the net,
Wisconsin right out in front and Minnesota duluthe they have
the goal listed for Lannie Potter assist of Harvey.
Speaker 22 (01:36:19):
We'll see.
Speaker 9 (01:36:20):
I thought the announced it as spid S's what.
Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
I thought too.
Speaker 22 (01:36:24):
We'll wait and see.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
That's what they've got on the official scoring here. Down
to twenty seven seconds remaining in the period. That would
be Potter's second consecutive goal if that stand. And there's
a shop deflected and play is going to be stopped,
(01:36:46):
the officials separate him. They've got it to Potter with
the assist by Caroline Harvey at eighteen twenty eight.
Speaker 9 (01:36:59):
So we got about ten ten seconds left is all here, Paul, Oh,
and you're taking somebody of the box. It looks like
Pickenhagen is gonna go sit down for two minutes for Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (01:37:11):
Huh yep, that'll give the Bulldogs a power play for
the remaining ten seconds in this period.
Speaker 11 (01:37:18):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:37:19):
Yeah, of course it would carry over to the next

Speaker 9 (01:38:14):
Yeah, Harvey was just discussing with the officials there to

Speaker 22 (01:38:27):
They match them up, they must have matched or they
give them two.
Speaker 9 (01:38:32):
I think we're sitting down two people.
Speaker 22 (01:38:34):
Yeah, they got two in the box.
Speaker 9 (01:38:36):
So they got Murphy in there too, So it's going
to be five on three.
Speaker 4 (01:38:43):
Huh wow, second time in a game this has happened
to the Badgers down three to nothing. They're going to
get back into it. This is their opportunity right here. Yeah,
man and Mark Johnson is trying to get an explanation
from the official.
Speaker 9 (01:39:00):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
So we've got three Badger defenders out against five Bulldogs.
Let's see what the crowd does. You're eating against Kramer
in the face off circle around over to KK Harvey
and they'll jump it down the outs. That's gonna take
care of the second period. But Minnesota Duluth will start
the third period with a five on three situation and
(01:39:27):
an opportunity to get back in this game because they
trail freed and up and your thoughts.
Speaker 9 (01:39:31):
On the CIA, I'll tell you, well, we created good
chances on our power plays and as a result, we're up.
But you know, we're fending off five on three for
a minute and fifty seconds. That's gonna be a challenge
here to start the third.
Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
We'll be back after this time out. This is Wisconsin
Badger's Women's hockey. M's behind the net looking for the outlet.
In the past shot hand front a canders travel and

This is Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Oak Park Plakes.
Speaker 10 (01:43:00):
How everyone aiden Michael's here on ten seventy of the game.
I'm here with Mariannelicart Marion Horritt.
Speaker 7 (01:43:05):
I'm good.
Speaker 11 (01:43:05):
How are you fantastic?
Speaker 10 (01:43:07):
So obviously you've had a pretty great start to the season.
Four assists in four game four games and three assists
in the main series alone. What's been the key to
your success so far?
Speaker 35 (01:43:16):
Honestly, I'm just excited to be here is my last year,
so I feel like I'm kind of going to the
season without any pressure on my shoulder. I'm just trying
to enjoy my last few games at Lebon and enjoying
the time with the girls.
Speaker 7 (01:43:27):
And obviously it was nice to play with I.
Speaker 35 (01:43:29):
Mean, obviously we got like five goals right away, so
it was nice.
Speaker 7 (01:43:31):
To play with different players. And I feel like that's
how I got my assists, is just by letting loose
on the ice.
Speaker 10 (01:43:38):
Yeah, And besides playing hockey, what are you going to
be missing most about leaving? Obviously you've got a whole
season ahead of you. We don't have to think that
far ahead. But you've been here a while. What are
you gonna miss Most?
Speaker 7 (01:43:48):
Oh, I'm really gonna miss the girls.
Speaker 35 (01:43:49):
Well, I plan on saying in Madison next year just
to kind of get my feununder myself.
Speaker 7 (01:43:54):
And like get a big goal job.
Speaker 35 (01:43:55):
And I'm gonna miss the girls of Most and the
team here is just like phenomenal.
Speaker 7 (01:43:59):
We're best friends.
Speaker 35 (01:44:00):
You guys don't see it, but all the eyes were
always attached by the hip together. And I'm mostly gonna
miss And also Madison the atmosphere, it's the best college
chunt in the country, and I'm gonna miss the fans. Obviously,
after every game I go up there and I love
to talk. I'm a big chatter, so I.
Speaker 7 (01:44:13):
Love to talk to all the fans that I'm really
gonna miss this.
Speaker 10 (01:44:15):
Yeah, I was gonna say, obviously, I agree with you
about the best atmosphere I think in college hockey, maybe
even in hockey, even in the NHL and the PWHL.
I don't think anything compares to Lebon. So what was
it like coming back after winning that national championship? The
banner raising night at Night one, and then obviously getting
a couple of five nothing wins is pretty special too.
Speaker 7 (01:44:32):
Oh my god, it was kind of crazy.
Speaker 35 (01:44:33):
I was getting goose bumps the whole time the banner ceremony,
watching the recap of the national championship game. Obviously, maybe
that's why I asked such a good weekend. I was emotional,
I was cheering up before the game. So that was
a pretty special moment. And Lebon is just unmatched. You
don't get this anywhere else.
Speaker 10 (01:44:50):
Absolutely, And tell me about the ring. I haven't seen it,
but I've heard that it opens up and it's like,
tell me about that.
Speaker 7 (01:44:56):
Oh, my god. It took us months to design. No
one was agreeing, but it's basically it opens up and
then you.
Speaker 35 (01:45:02):
Have the eight banners from the national championships we want,
and then it's engraved.
Speaker 7 (01:45:05):
It's lebon area like engraved in the ring. When you
open it up, it's it's spectacular and the diamonds on it.
Speaker 10 (01:45:13):
Yeah, that sounds amazing. I can't wait to see it
in person. I've seen photos, but I haven't seen it
open up, so that seems really cool. So I want
to talk about you're getting You got the A on
your jersey, becoming one of the alternative captains.
Speaker 9 (01:45:23):
What does that feel like?
Speaker 10 (01:45:23):
Also to assume that leadership role because you've always had
a leadership role, but now you've got the A to
show for it.
Speaker 7 (01:45:29):
It was an honor. Obviously.
Speaker 35 (01:45:30):
I'm happy that the girls kind of saw me as
their leader. And I'm a pretty loud leader. I love
to talk and out if it's here, even though I'm
not I might not be like a star player.
Speaker 7 (01:45:39):
Where like I put a bunch of goals and.
Speaker 35 (01:45:40):
Or like Patty Casmaier nominee, but I love to My
goal is to bring the energy and I think I
do a pretty good job at it. I think I'm
also a pre balanced player off and off the ice.
I kind of have a I care about school, not
just hockey, So I think I kind of bring that
into my leadership role for sure.
Speaker 10 (01:45:57):
Yeah, I was gonna say, you definitely care about school.
You've won, You've been named in All Academic for the
Big Ten three years in a row.
Speaker 11 (01:46:04):
Telling me about that.
Speaker 35 (01:46:05):
I love school, obviously. I always saw hockey as a
vessel for my schooling. And I'm doing my master's in
biomedical engineering right now, in a specialty in tissue engineering.
So I don't know if you know, but I tore
my ACL twice and I watched the surgery, like I
watched and perform.
Speaker 7 (01:46:19):
Surgery on me.
Speaker 35 (01:46:20):
And that's when my love for biomedical engineering started. And
now I'm like fascinated by fake organs and ligaments, and
that's what I'm going to be pursuing after college.
Speaker 11 (01:46:29):
Did they ask if you wanted to watch or did
they just Yeah?
Speaker 35 (01:46:32):
So basically, they put a scope in your knee and
there's a camera, and they asked me if I wanted
to be a sleep for it or watch it, and
I watched it.
Speaker 24 (01:46:39):
Yeah, that's insane.
Speaker 10 (01:46:40):
I tore my a cl back in the day too,
but that was not an option for me. I'd throw
up on the surgeon if that happened. So that's that's
what started sort of your interest in that.
Speaker 35 (01:46:49):
And I also volunteer a Meracle league and it's basically
playing baseball with kids with disabilities, and they have a
bunch of prosthetics, and so seeing all the prosthetics and
how it helped them be able to like play a sport,
it was kind of like my life changing for me,
and so I wanted to help do that in my career.
Speaker 24 (01:47:07):
Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 10 (01:47:08):
What do you think is harder playing for the National
championship or doing your first surgery?
Speaker 7 (01:47:15):
The National Championship game?
Speaker 35 (01:47:19):
The National Championship game that it feels like an outer
body experience and the adrenaline is so high the whole game,
it's kind of like you blackout and you can't even
feel your body.
Speaker 7 (01:47:29):
It's like out of this world. I can't even explain it.
Speaker 24 (01:47:33):
That's amazing.
Speaker 10 (01:47:33):
And then my last question, obviously, big tests this weekend
staying at Lebon, Minnesota, Duluth. They're really good this year.
Obviously we know how good they are. What's that test
going to be.
Speaker 7 (01:47:42):
Like, oh, we're all very very excited.
Speaker 35 (01:47:44):
Obviously, Vimgia Maine was kind of a good way to
get our season started.
Speaker 7 (01:47:48):
But Dulude's gonna be a big I mean, we're gonna.
Speaker 35 (01:47:50):
Have to play defense, probably, which we haven't played a
lot in the past four games. So it's gonna be
a real test to see how our team is this
year and if we have a chance to win the Natty,
which I think we have a chance for the Natty.
Speaker 7 (01:48:00):
But they have a good goalie, good defense, and they're
very very deep. They have three good lines, so I'm
really really excited.
Speaker 10 (01:48:07):
Yeah, all right, well, thank you very much.
Speaker 7 (01:48:08):
I appreciate it, Thank you.
Speaker 11 (01:48:09):
All right.
Speaker 10 (01:48:09):
That was Mary m Picard, how everyone aid? And Michael's
here on ten seventy of the game. I'm joined here
by Charlotte Peakin Hagen.
Speaker 6 (01:48:16):
How are you?
Speaker 11 (01:48:17):
I'm good?
Speaker 10 (01:48:17):
How are you wonderful? So I want to talk about
last year he is. Obviously it was your home debut,
playing in front of some pretty great fans, always a
great atmosphere.
Speaker 36 (01:48:25):
How was that, Well, it was pretty incredible stepping out
for the first time and seeing like twenty five hundred
fans sharing us on it's pretty incredible to represent the
Badgers and to do it for the first time at home.
Speaker 7 (01:48:37):
It was very special.
Speaker 10 (01:48:38):
And then go on a step further back at Bemijie
State your debut, you get on the score sheheet, What
was that moment like for You're not only scoring a
goal on your debut, but just playing your first game
as a Badger.
Speaker 7 (01:48:47):
That was pretty exciting.
Speaker 36 (01:48:48):
Zilly kind of said to me before the game started,
kind of welcome to the NCAA and it's a pretty
cool moment. And then obviously scoring a goal and then
getting on the score sheet, that was pretty fun. It's
always nice to get the first goal out of the way.
So I'm glad I did it in the first game.
Speaker 10 (01:49:03):
And you're one of the many Canadians on this team
and you represented team Canada.
Speaker 19 (01:49:06):
At a few levels.
Speaker 10 (01:49:07):
Tell me about your experience with playing for your national team.
Speaker 36 (01:49:10):
It's always great to represent Canada and it's definitely a
core memory you keep with you. I was very fortunate
to play with Emma Venusio and she was a great
friend coming into Wisconsin and Ava Murphy, so I knew
a few people coming in so getting their leadership, especially
at the Canada level and then coming here was definitely
a great stepping stone and then hopefully more experience will
(01:49:32):
come in the future.
Speaker 10 (01:49:33):
Yeah, and has that made your integration to this team,
into this league easier knowing a few players coming in here?
Speaker 7 (01:49:39):
Definitely for sure.
Speaker 36 (01:49:41):
My roommate this summer was Riah Stewart, and I was
very fortunate to play with her in Switzerland, so to
have familiarity to come and hear it made it a
little easier to get to know somebody in the dressing
room before you kind of reach out and talk to
new people.
Speaker 7 (01:49:55):
It's nice to have a familiar face to always talk to.
Speaker 10 (01:49:58):
Have any of your family members been able to come
out either Epa, Midge or here in Madison last weekend?
Speaker 7 (01:50:04):
No, not yet, but my dad and.
Speaker 36 (01:50:06):
My grandma are actually driving up to New York in
two weeks, so I'm really excited to see them, and
then they'll be headed to Minnesota after and they'll be
here for a Minnesota series cheer us on.
Speaker 7 (01:50:17):
So I'm excited for them to come up.
Speaker 11 (01:50:18):
How long is that drive?
Speaker 10 (01:50:19):
I know it's upstate New York, so it can't be
too far.
Speaker 36 (01:50:22):
No, it's probably about seven hour six hours for them
and then they'll go and see my brother after. But
it's a little closer than driving here, so definitely excited
for them.
Speaker 10 (01:50:31):
But they like a little road trip, so they're in
a fourteen hour road a round trip. That's that's pretty incredible.
So this weekend, first big test if you will, playing
against Minnesota to louve that home, missing a couple of players.
Obviously everyone's gonna be needing to step up.
Speaker 11 (01:50:45):
What is gonna what is that going to be like
for you?
Speaker 36 (01:50:48):
Well, it's a very great chance to show everybody what
we are this year. Minnesota to lose a great team
and we're super pumped to play them. Get to run
into Kramer, who I played with for a few years,
so excited to.
Speaker 7 (01:51:00):
Play her again.
Speaker 36 (01:51:01):
And just as a team, we're really excited. We're ready
to play Minnesota Duluth and I know my game. Everybody's
line is going to have to step off into some
big roles this weekend and help the girls who've been missing,
and then they get to also teach us to get
to come back for an important role at USA Camp
and show us kind of what they've learned, and then
we can learn off them and put that into.
Speaker 24 (01:51:21):
Our game, all right, Thank you very much.
Speaker 11 (01:51:23):
Charlotte appreciate it. Thank you, all right. That was Charlotte.
Speaker 10 (01:51:26):
Pegenhagen on ten seventy the game, all right.
Speaker 11 (01:51:30):
That was the player profile. Brought to you by Goodman's Jewelers.
Speaker 10 (01:51:33):
Welcome back to the intermission report, brought to you by
Fields Madison, your premier luxury auto group, serving customers since
nineteen seventy one.
Speaker 11 (01:51:40):
My name's Aiden Michaels. We're here inside Labon Arena.
Speaker 10 (01:51:43):
After two periods at Lebon, the Badgers lead three to
nothing against the Minnesota the Loop Bulldogs. Just thirteen shots
on goal for the Bulldogs, thirty nine for the Badgers,
and it's penalties galore. So far, there have been twelve
penalty minutes for each team, and when we come into
the third period, there's gonna be a minute fifty seconds
left on a five on three for Minnesota Duluth. It
(01:52:06):
was Charlotte Peak and Hagen who we just heard from,
with the hooking penalty, and then after the whistle, Badgers
get another penalty Ava Murphy with a cross check. And
as we mentioned, the referees are really not calling are
they really are calling? The extra activity after the whistle
so this is gonna be a big test. It's gonna
be the second five on three power play of the
night or of the evening. No, not even let me
(01:52:26):
try that.
Speaker 11 (01:52:27):
A third time of the afternoon for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 10 (01:52:30):
Badgers were able to kill the first one, and as
I mentioned in the last intermission report, they were able
to even get a shot on goal where the Bulldogs
did not on their own power play that second penalty
of those two, so another five on three coming from Minnesota, dilute,
they are zero for five on the power play today.
The Badgers are two for five on the power play,
so much better than what we've seen in previous games.
(01:52:51):
Power play goal to start things off for Caroline Harvey
in the first period, and then Shappie getting on the
board with a power play goal of her own to
make it three to nothing. Before that, it was Lady
Potter technically not a power play goal, but it was
about a second and a half after the penalty expired,
so it's on the stat shee'd not.
Speaker 11 (01:53:10):
Listed as a power play goal.
Speaker 10 (01:53:11):
But realistically, out of those five power plays as the
Badgers have had, they've scored on two of those, and
essentially they've scored on the third one as well. So
very good from the power play as far, very good
from the Badgers as far as the power play goes,
and special teams obviously, like I said, their penalty kill
has been perfect. And I'll tell you what Shappie's been
getting under the skin of a lot of the Bulldogs
(01:53:32):
players today, and obviously had that roughing penalty in the
second period or in the first period, but then drawn
some penalties as well, and then of course scoring that
third goal in the power play, which I'm sure angered
a lot of the Bulldogs. But she's just been doing
a great job on all fronts of the game, and
we hope to see more of that from her and
more of that from the Badgers. Is a little bit
(01:53:53):
of a different story than what we saw yesterday. The Badgers,
even though they are dominating the Bulldogs as far as
shots go, like they did yesterday, of course, the score
line is not as close. It was very very close
up until the very end yesterday morning. But in today's game,
of course, the Badger's three to nothing heading into the third,
they've got a bit of a cushion, but they must
kill these penalties. A five on three obviously is the
(01:54:15):
most dangerous position you can be on the penalty kill,
So we'll have to see what happens. Like I said,
a minute fifty in both of those penalties, so nearly
a full five on three to go to kill for
the Badgers will see what they can do. Thank you
for tuning in to the intermission report I made Michael's.
When we come back, PB and Granny back on the
call for period number three will be right back on

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey presented by Bold Park Plays.
Speaker 4 (01:56:47):
Minnesota daluthe on a five on three power play just
underway here in the third period, back in the Wisconsin zone.
Minnesota dalute over to set it up and they controlled
it back on top. Looking for their first opportunity to score.
They try to go back door on the shot that
was partially deflected just inside the blue line. Wis counting
(01:57:10):
three people out on the penalty kill, and they're gonna
have it for one more minute. On a five on three,
little given gold, they try to go back door, intend
it for Kramer and it's gonna come out of the
zone like that, backing it out, coming over to pick
it up and in over the line.
Speaker 22 (01:57:27):
Is Kramer.
Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
Kramer goes through traffic, gets bumped away from the play
and the jungles over to try and clear it out.
Henderson holds it in. Henderson, with the puck between the dots,
gets the return shot and that deflected off the glass
and Kramer picks it up down on the corner. Down
to twenty seven seconds remaining. They got O'Brien in front
(01:57:50):
of the goal or that is Mayor back to the
point on the play and the moving it in. There's
a shot by Kramer just went waut of the goal.
Badger get the play and go back along the back
wall and ram it around the boards trying to bring
it out. Five seconds before the Badgers are back at
full strength, Greas Coonson clears it to the corner. They
(01:58:13):
kill off the five on three. They're back at full
strength and that's three nothing. Wisconsin in the third period
coming in over the line. Here's enright with it and
Reich carries it all the way around to the right
side and right trying to work it up the wing.
Minnesota Duluth will turn and back they come. Kramer lifts
(01:58:35):
it high in on Ava McNaughton, who turned it away
and Wisconsin continues to lead and they're back at full strength.
Speaker 9 (01:58:44):
Greene boy, I tell you, I'm glad we were able
to kill off that minute and fifty seconds worth of
five on three. Great job of penalty killing by those
players out there at that time.
Speaker 4 (01:58:55):
What was the discussion down in the locker room after two?
Speaker 9 (01:58:58):
Just a big challenge with that penalty kill obviously, and
this let's answer the bell and take it on and
do it. Execute it go.
Speaker 4 (01:59:05):
That they did and Wisconsin setting it up to play
it back down to the bulldog zone and play comes
through cent our eyes and chasing it down is Venusio
and she worked it along the back wall where Batanko
comes on the near side looking for help to clear
the past Paul intended for Scannal in front of the
(01:59:28):
bulldog bench. Minnesota Duluth will drive it in on Ava
McNaughton and Wisconsin will work it up Ice and they
controlled it and with it it's driven up Ice Potter
on the tip from the play to Scannel who flipped
it down to the bulldog zone. The Minnesota Duluth back.
They come out of their own zone up the far wing,
(01:59:50):
coming through center eyes. Cramer with a solo rush man
and she slides into the cage and knocks it loose.
Speaker 9 (01:59:58):
She went in the zone, so Paul driving right through
the slot that she, like you said, knocked the net
right off its pegs. There, we're gonna have a face
Off's going pretty fast.
Speaker 4 (02:00:09):
And the face off will come up back in the
zone of Wisconsin here in the third period. Badger's got one.
In the first period, it was scored by KK Harvey,
or third of the year. In the second period, Potter
got her third goal of the year, and late in
the period a Chapel Valley Boba got her third goal
(02:00:31):
of the year, and Wisconsin leading by three coming over
to try and pick it up. It's gonna be dumped
back in behind Ava McNaughton, who flipped it with that
big stick around the boards, and Wisconsin will try to
chase it down. Sims is out Egan and Schapo Valley
Boba and the play along the far side. Wisconsin will
(02:00:53):
turn and bring it out coming up byce on the
lead in the neutral zone. Sims with it rink one
on the pass over the Wagan Egan trying to play
it past Henderson. The Badgers are going to change up
a couple of players and they'll work it up Ice
controlling it coming back in over the line, trying to
get off a shot there by Cole turned back by
(02:01:16):
Wisconsin up on the break coming through center Ice in
over the line, Kirsten Sims, Sims with it, pulls up
and tried to center it to Pericard around over to
KK Harvey who played it deep in the zone, turned
back by Sidura on the breakup Ice coming in over
the line with it is coal into the glove of
(02:01:38):
Ava McNaughton and whistle and action will be stopped in
the zone of Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (02:01:44):
That was kind of a knuckleball shot from the point there,
and I'm glad Eva could keep an eye on it
and pin it to her chest there and hours a
face off here.
Speaker 4 (02:01:52):
Ava McNaughton for the Wisconsin Badgers this year is five
and zero. Her save percentage is ninety four percent. Her
goals against one point zero four face off coming up.
The Badgers will go on the road next weekend to
a tournament in Schenectady, New York. Face off coming up
(02:02:15):
to the left side of Abe McNaughton and non conference
play the Badgers next weekend. WCCHA doing very well against
non Conference opponents. After three weeks in the season, they
were twenty five and one, laid around the boards around
on the far side over trying to control it. The
(02:02:35):
four top teams in the country, Duluth, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio State.
Here's a break kirst and Sam's moving it in. Shot
kick saved, oh, rebound, loosen the slot man and it's
going to be cleared along the boards.
Speaker 22 (02:02:50):
Coming over to.
Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
Try and pick it up first and put it into
the pads of Casco on that breakaway there.
Speaker 9 (02:02:58):
Oh, that would have been nice to see her that one,
and going.
Speaker 4 (02:03:02):
Back Wisconsin over to set it up. Here comes kk
Harvey on the solo rush and over the line to
Kirsten Simms. Sims controlling the puck, a little given going
then Ava McNaughton going off.
Speaker 22 (02:03:16):
What do we got here?
Speaker 4 (02:03:18):
We're gonna have another penalty cut up and that's gonna
be against Mayor of De Luce and the Badgers. It's
a hooking call that's gonna send Wisconsin on the power play,
where they are two of five on the power play
advantage in this game. So far in the season, they
now have five power play goals in twenty attempts. Kirsten
(02:03:46):
Simms is out, Shapo, Valley Bova is out, KK Harvey
Eden and Potter. You normally you'd say say or see
Leyley Edwards there, but she's injured and not in the game.
Speaker 34 (02:04:01):
Man.
Speaker 22 (02:04:01):
It comes back out over to Sims.
Speaker 4 (02:04:04):
Sims moving to get around shot block, covering up his
gasco as Eden right in front of the net, and
we'll have a face off coming up.
Speaker 9 (02:04:14):
I like that net front presence. We had like two
or three players right there.
Speaker 4 (02:04:18):
Well, when you've got a great goaltender like that, you
gotta get eyes right, you gotta kind of you're right
scramble in front of the net. You gotta move around exactly, Paul.
You try to get her off so she can't see it.
There's a lot of pressure on her.
Speaker 9 (02:04:32):
Yeah, if she sees it, she's gonna stop it more
times than.
Speaker 4 (02:04:35):
Not and coming back up ice controlling it's going to
be played back down on the corner and going back
quickly to pick it up behind the That that is
MESSI whoa oh, And there's another penalty and another that was.
Speaker 9 (02:04:49):
A dangerous one there. In fact, the player is asking
her if she's all right, Wow, yeah, it was that.
Speaker 4 (02:04:56):
Should be checking from behind. In fact, that might be
a fard boarding. I think that could be a five.
Let's see if they even.
Speaker 9 (02:05:06):
I think you're I don't see the player going to
the box though, do you.
Speaker 4 (02:05:10):
Oh, they're gonna have a discussion. Yeah, along the board,
so I think they're gonna they're gonna talk about it.
Speaker 9 (02:05:16):
Yeah, yeah, that was dangerous.
Speaker 4 (02:05:19):
If ever, there was that Johansson and let's see what
they're gonna call here? Five minute major Yeah, five minute major.
Speaker 14 (02:05:33):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (02:05:34):
There was no question about that.
Speaker 22 (02:05:36):
That was no question.
Speaker 4 (02:05:39):
We're gonna take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.
Speaker 32 (02:05:44):

Hey, you want to hear some great news broadcasting live
from the Angelhardmotorsports studio, your local Polaris off Road headquarters.
This is WTSO Madison ten seventy the game. This is
Wisconsin Women's Hockey Present my Oak Park Place.
Speaker 4 (02:07:01):
We are back in Lebon Arena along with Mark Greenhaw
Paul Brown. Fourteen eighteen remaining in the third period of play.
Made your break here for the Badgers. They already have
a penalty up at one twenty seven remaining on that time,
and if we are correct, they called a five minute
penalty and that would mean the Badgers would be five
(02:07:24):
on three here in the third period, leading three to
nothing in the game. They're looking at it down below.
They had originally called it five and now they're taking
a look at it down below. That's the reason for
the delay here. Badger's goal KK Harvey is third of
(02:07:45):
the year in the first period. In the second period,
Laney Potter got her third goal of the year, and
also in the second period, they gave her a.
Speaker 22 (02:08:00):
Five minute yep.
Speaker 9 (02:08:02):
Verified she's out of the game and gone, wow, she's
a good player. That's gonna hurt them obviously, but I'm
just glad that Chapo didn't get hurt.
Speaker 22 (02:08:15):
Yeah, that was scary. Yep.
Speaker 4 (02:08:20):
So we'll have the face off coming up with the
five on three for the Badgers out as KK Harvey
she's out on the ice, Sims is out on the ice,
Chapel Valley Boba is out on the ice, Eden is out,
and Potter is out. That's a pretty strong group against
(02:08:41):
five against three Bulldogs.
Speaker 9 (02:08:45):
That's a potent unit right there, Paul.
Speaker 22 (02:08:48):
Yeah, we'll have that face off coming up.
Speaker 9 (02:08:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:08:54):
Yeah, we got somebody else to serve that five minute penalty,
So Duluth sends another person into the penalty.
Speaker 9 (02:09:00):
Box as Joe Hansson had to leave them leave the ice.
Speaker 4 (02:09:04):
So a five on three and a great opportunity for
the Badgers. Wisconsin holding it in, comes around over to
KK Harvey. Harvey back out on top over the Sims.
Sim's controlling the puck. Sim's low on the near side.
It goes to Harvey. Harvey with a drive, I shot
and right behind the net. Delute turns and they'll bang
(02:09:24):
it out and Wisconsin has to go back.
Speaker 22 (02:09:27):
In their own zone.
Speaker 4 (02:09:28):
Minnesota Dilute had two five on threes in the game.
They didn't convert. Badger's got a five on three fifty
six seconds remaining before one of those penalties will expire.
They carry it back in over the line and with
its potter. Here's Potter with it back door. They come
out on top over the Sims, Sims around over to
(02:09:50):
KK Harvey. They work it in close. Sims in show
their third goal of the area board.
Speaker 9 (02:10:05):
Nothing man, what a great shot on a wonderful pass
from Sims, quick release, one timer by eating right in
the slot for a goal. Just a beautiful, beautiful goal by.
Speaker 4 (02:10:17):
Eating sixteen six thirty the time of the goal.
Speaker 9 (02:10:23):
Great goal.
Speaker 4 (02:10:25):
Good But Lacy Eden with the goal or third of
the year, and it's still with four minutes and eleven
seconds now remaining on a five on four power player
and coming over to try and pick it up. The
Badgers control it, moving it in. Here's scandal around on
(02:10:45):
the far side, and we're tipped right out in front
whistle and play is going to be stopped here.
Speaker 9 (02:10:52):
Well, I tell you, Paul, I'm glad to see another goal,
because for whatever reason, this this team is always in
the game, you know, in with a three goal coush
and I felt like that wasn't enough somehow, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:11:05):
Kake Harvey has two assists and now six on the year.
Sims has two assists and now seven on the year.
Badgers go back in behind the net. Four different players
have scored goals for the Badgers in this fort and
nothing game. Five on four man the person advantages for
(02:11:26):
the Badgers. They play at rink wide into the glove
of Aba McNaughton, chant of one, two, three, four, We
want more.
Speaker 9 (02:11:37):
Yeah, give me five. Let's stay alive right.
Speaker 4 (02:11:43):
Oh well fifty five remaining Badgers undefeated in the WCCHJ
with a record of three and zero and coming over
to pick it up. Minnesota Duluth is playing in their
first league competition. They had four non conference victories to
open their season all of those games on the road
(02:12:06):
and played back down in the corner, going back over
to pick it up and control. Duluth setting it up
to come out of the zone. They play it through
center eyes Creamer with it one against two. She managed
to flip it down on the zone of Wisconsin Badgers
will go back. They have three minutes remaitting on the
five minute call. Akerley Harvey with the puck, slides it
(02:12:29):
out on the break Wisconsin. Simms comes through center ice,
Sims pulls up in the far circle, off on the
wing to Shapel Valley Boba and it comes from Sims
around over to Murphy with a drive in front, trying
to get it off, and it comes to Sims, who
controls it. Chill skated back to the top of the point,
(02:12:50):
back over to Murphy, back over to Sims on the
far side, now lowing the circle on the right. Sims
with a puck, goes behind then at looking for the
outlet on the pass. Currys it all the way around
to the left point and in between the dots comes
off of the play Potter shot of wide in the
back door right. There was a shappy Valovova, but the
(02:13:12):
shot went wide, Potter with it. Potter goes behind the
det around on the far side, Badger's back out on top.
This looks like a passing clinic or stick handling with
a puck clinic. There's a drive in front, Potter trying
to pick it up and finally it's going to be
dumped down the ice and Wisconsin now with one fifty
(02:13:34):
six remaining on the power play four to nothing in
the game. They lead it coming in over the line
or round over to En right behind the net. Here's
Peking Hoggen with it. Pekon Hogen controlling the puck along
the boards to the point they drop it off over
to Murphy just inside the line. That's Venusio. Vanusio pulls
up at the far point, comes across on the play,
(02:13:56):
down over to En, right back out on top over
to Ava Murphy. Shot saved off the pads of Gascow
to the left point. Murphy holds it in and the
Bulldogs desperately trying to get it out of their own zone.
Ten thirty five remaining in the period, back gave a
Murphy just outside the line.
Speaker 22 (02:14:16):
Whoops.
Speaker 4 (02:14:17):
There was a check against Mayor by Murphy Badgers controlled
it at their own blue line.
Speaker 22 (02:14:24):
One minute remaining in the power play.
Speaker 4 (02:14:26):
Badgers already have picked up one on this power play
opportunity and peeking hogging around the boards on the far side,
back to the point. The pass comes out of the
zone and it'll go all the way back as we
have ten oh five remaining in the period around on
the far boards, coming over to pick it up. Wisconsin
(02:14:47):
looking to bring it out of the zone on the
play this is scandal comes in over the line drive
why to the goal. Gorbatanko picked it up off the
back wall. She's in the left wing corner with the puck.
Hall coming over to try and help out. They work
it along the boards. Who's going to come out of
the scrum with it at Scorbatanco behind the net trying
(02:15:09):
to control its Scandal sneaks in from behind centers the
buck somebody playing without a stick. There's a drive by
Venusio right on. Venusio gets the pass back at the point.
Venusio within another shot and that goes into the glove
of Gasco.
Speaker 22 (02:15:26):
And she made the save.
Speaker 9 (02:15:28):
Yeah, Venuzio is getting hungry for goals. Yeah, yeah, you
kind of see that.
Speaker 4 (02:15:34):
Ama Venusio, sophomore out of Toronto, had one gold and
fifteen assists in her freshman year. And we'll have the
face off coming up to the right side of Gasco.
Badger's still with the power play opportunity, but that ends
right now. Here's KK Harvey moving it in. There's the
(02:15:55):
drive trying to go back door on the playoff and
covering back Harvey RV and the Badger's zone is gonna
circle and the fore check by Sodura RV passes it around.
On the break. Wisconsin, we'll play it down in the
corner back in behind the nap per card over to
try and help out. Alberson is there as well. Badger's
(02:16:18):
in the neutral zone. They go to Harvey RVY comes
in over the line whistle and we're gonna have play
stop at the blue line of Delude and we'll have
a break coming up here. This is Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey.

Speaker 23 (02:16:59):

Speaker 4 (02:17:04):
Eight minutes and fifty seconds remaining here in the third
period of play, the Badgers with four up on the board,
KK Harvey her third, Potter her third, Chapel Valley, Bova
with her third, and Eden with her third.
Speaker 9 (02:17:25):
Three.
Speaker 4 (02:17:26):
I never threatened it out, yeah, a little bit, and
we'll have that face off coming up back in the
zone of uh just outside the blue line of Duluth, yep.
Badgers on the road. Next weekend they go to Schenectady,
New York for a tournament and face off will come
(02:17:47):
up just at the blue line of Minnesota. D'lut burrs
in that face off circle. The card wins it and
on her knee picking it up. There was Jones for
the Badgers. I like it when they're on their knees
and they still play the.
Speaker 9 (02:18:03):
Pump they maintain possession.
Speaker 22 (02:18:05):
They just maintained.
Speaker 4 (02:18:06):
Possession of go Okay, I'll pass it while I'm down
here on my knees. That's keeping your cool and coming up.
Speaker 22 (02:18:11):
Ice trying to control it.
Speaker 4 (02:18:12):
Minnesota Duluth comes through, working it in shot save raybound
follows Badgers cover big say, and there's no goal light on,
no goal light on.
Speaker 9 (02:18:24):
Boy, nice drive from the left dot.
Speaker 4 (02:18:26):
Again, there's about seven eight players inside increase.
Speaker 22 (02:18:29):
Yeah, there's not enough room for that many in there
eating down.
Speaker 9 (02:18:33):
Yeah, she's stuck with it and fall in the buck
and cover it up. Laid right on it actually, and
the Badgers have.
Speaker 4 (02:18:47):
The Bulldogs both teams at full strength forty eight to
twenty in shots.
Speaker 11 (02:18:52):
My goodness.
Speaker 33 (02:18:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:18:54):
And the officials over by the Duluth bench there, and
I think they're talking to the coach about something.
Speaker 22 (02:19:01):
I'm not exactly sure.
Speaker 9 (02:19:02):
I don't know what Coach Schuler is asking there. Something
she's got a question for the official.
Speaker 4 (02:19:07):
Maybe something that happened near the crease area. Yeah, possibly, Yep,
they're going to take a look. Okay, they think maybe
it was they think it's a goal maybe huh. Maybe
gonna take a look at that to see if it's
a goal. What's your thoughts on Wisconsin this weekend after
(02:19:32):
watching him play?
Speaker 9 (02:19:33):
Well, I think there was a real progression today from yesterday,
and by that, I think we took the middle of
the rink away better, you know, covered the house. Yeah,
that kind of thing kept them out on the perimeter
much better today most of the time. Not always as
you saw. That was kind of an odd man rush there,
but we were keeping our four f three or third
(02:19:58):
forward higher, you know, to prevent those man rushes from occurring.
I liked what I saw on the power play. Yeah,
you know, that was some improvement solo. There's some areas
we've developed, and that all comes in the wake of
not having five players with us for practice all week
last week as they were training with the US Olympics.
Speaker 22 (02:20:15):
Yeah, they were gone.
Speaker 4 (02:20:16):
It's hard, yeah, and that's going to continue throughout the season.
That happens once per month up until about January. It's
no goal, yep. They wanted to challenge it, and they got.
Speaker 9 (02:20:28):
The call of no goal and firm no goal. So
they should have just asked Ava Paul. They should have
told them now man that had that all the way
under that melee of people. The puck was underneath her.
Speaker 4 (02:20:42):
Mark Greenhall, a former goaltender in his day, elected to
the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame this past well about
a month ago. Now up the Neagle River.
Speaker 9 (02:20:55):
Yeah, quite a humbling honor, I tell you.
Speaker 4 (02:20:58):
Faced off, coming up and just inside the blue line Minnesota.
Duluth trying to set it up along the boards on
the near side, coming over to try and control it.
Eight fourteen, remaining in the third period, back in behind
the head of Wisconsin around on the boards. That's Mayor
with it. Mayors stick handed with the puck. Tried to
(02:21:19):
move it toward the net able, watching the traffic as
it goes to the near corner and back in behind her.
Jungles is there. Jungles will get help from KK Harvey.
Harvey's tried to slide it out on the break. That
one hit the skate there. Oh boy a burr. So
Duluth holds it in. There's a drive and cover up
(02:21:40):
on the McLeod drive.
Speaker 9 (02:21:42):
Eva gloved it there. That's not like Harvey to cough
the puck up a couple times there.
Speaker 4 (02:21:46):
Yeah, what's the matter with her? She made a mistake there.
Speaker 9 (02:21:49):
Mark's gonna have to venture you know, man, I guess
she is human.
Speaker 4 (02:21:53):
That's a second mistake in her career.
Speaker 9 (02:21:56):
Yah, I guess she is human.
Speaker 4 (02:21:58):
After all, seven forty six remaining in the third period,
just inside the line, there's a drive and it's cleared out.
Badger's done a nice job in this game, and in
front of their own nest.
Speaker 24 (02:22:10):
Yeah, yep.
Speaker 4 (02:22:12):
And the puck is in the neutral zone over to
try and pick it up around on the far side,
over the aver Murphy.
Speaker 22 (02:22:19):
Murphy carries it in over the line. Badgers look to
set it up. Scandal.
Speaker 4 (02:22:23):
Oh and there's a penalty that's coming up.
Speaker 9 (02:22:26):
That's odd man, just a blatant right in front of
the official, just decking the person from behind.
Speaker 22 (02:22:32):
You know what, I don't like the way Delo's playing this.
Speaker 9 (02:22:34):
I don't either, because they puts players at risk and
I don't want anybody getting hurt, whether it's our team
or the other team.
Speaker 4 (02:22:40):
Is that frustration, I.
Speaker 9 (02:22:42):
Think a lot of it.
Speaker 33 (02:22:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (02:22:43):
I think you're exactly right, Paul. They're a good team
and they're they're you know, they're getting it.
Speaker 4 (02:22:49):
They don't need to do this, No, they don't need it.
Speaker 9 (02:22:51):
Totally unnecessary and uncalled for.
Speaker 4 (02:22:54):
But I would think that if you're an opposing team
of Wisconsin, you look at it and go one of
the few ways we can beat that team is to
be physical.
Speaker 9 (02:23:06):
Yeah, but I think you can play physical and play clean. Yeah,
you know, you got to be good at it, but
I think it can be done.
Speaker 4 (02:23:14):
And played along the boards on the near side, coming
over to try and pick it up if it comes
back out over the center eyes Wisconsin now controlling it.
Here's Jungles moving through the neutral zone. Jungles with the puck,
comes around and controls it behind the net, setting it
up back on the point. On the pass over to
try and control it just inside the blue line. There's
(02:23:36):
Aba Murphy's show advice scannal Nice almost directed it in
moving it in shot block in front Gorbatanko Poknada. Six
minutes and fifty seconds remaining in the third period, it's
four nothing Wisconsin, fifty to twenty one in shots and
the lead for Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (02:23:58):
Good pressure getting fucks to the net there with players
right on the goal mouth there to hammer in any
rebounds to be.
Speaker 4 (02:24:05):
Had one twenty seven or remitting in the penalty times
framer in the penalty box and the face off coming
up Badgers with another power play opportunity. Scandal is out,
Cassie Hall is out, Gorbatanco is out, Jungles is out,
and Ava Murphy is out. Face off to the left
(02:24:29):
side of Gasco and the drag goes back down in
the corner. Gorbatanko looking for help back to the point
on the play. Ava Murphy over the Jungles and Jungles
plays it in behind the net Gorbatanco slides it out
on top. Murphy holds his own on the wing. Gorbitanco
(02:24:50):
one touch on the pass. There's a drive. Jungles fires
it that goes up over the glass into the netting,
and we'll have another face off coming up. Badgers are
going to change up and outcomes Sims along with Eden
out on the ice. Shapo.
Speaker 22 (02:25:06):
Valevova is out in the ice Potter and Harvey.
Speaker 9 (02:25:10):
Be fun to watch this unit get another power play.
Speaker 4 (02:25:13):
Yeah, Woods and Chapel. Valevova wins the draw back to
the point of the play over the Harvey around over
the Sims.
Speaker 22 (02:25:21):
Sims drive kicked out.
Speaker 4 (02:25:23):
Nice play by Gasco and here's Potter with it angled
it off the boards around on the far side Wisconsin
to the point of the pass over the Sims. Sims
with a play over to Harvey, one touch on the
pass to Potter on the left wing. They come back
to Harvey, Harvey back over to Potter on the near
boards at the point Harvey drive, Oh, she just missed
(02:25:46):
the Nat drove it through a lot of traffic there.
Here's Sims picking it up down in the corner and
a little give and gold. They've got Potter there, shot block, rebound.
That towering up is gas go and play is going
to be stopped.
Speaker 9 (02:26:03):
Quick shot there, save and then a rebound on the
opposite side, but another seed.
Speaker 22 (02:26:09):
There's no love loss between these two.
Speaker 9 (02:26:11):
No, no, that's uh. You can feel it building now,
you can, You really can.
Speaker 4 (02:26:18):
Face off coming up for card in the face off
circle against Gasco and the play along the board's far
side over to pick it up and control it Wisconsin.
This would be the ninth straight win by Wisconsin over Minnesota.
Duluth around over to Murphy trying to set it up
to come back on the wing, over to enright n
(02:26:41):
right passed behind the back intended for Murphy. Comes out
of the zone five point twenty five remaining in the
third period, laid back down on the corner and back
at full strength. As Kramer is out of the penalty
box and Minnesota Duluth loses control of the puck, moving
it in down in the corner on the pass to
(02:27:01):
the point it comes around over to Ava Murphy down
deep in the zone, gonna be chased down by Halverson.
Alverson with a puck, lost it off her stick, per
Card trailing, picks it up, tried to center it will
partially block, but it comes to Halverson on the far
side and per Card they try to hold his zone
and right in front of the Badger bench in the
(02:27:23):
Badger's Venusio gets help and she'll work it up the
far boards and kind of one arm it down on
the zone of Minnesota Dulu on the wing hfore checking
there Halverson trying to hold his zone. It's going to
be turned back by Cole Cole trying to lead it
to Sidura. Sadura with the puck just that center Eyes
(02:27:44):
plays it back. Deluke drives it down to the Badger's zone.
Ava McNaught and cut it off. Murphy behind the at
looking for help. Badger's regroup and Cassie Hall out on
the break coming up ice scandal with it and McCarthy's
scannel with a drive. Then Gasco covers up and makes
the say there's Henderson with two pushes behind.
Speaker 9 (02:28:09):
Yeah, well after the whistle and she just continued to
push Scandal from behind. It's like there's no need for that.
Knock it off. You know, in men's hockey, she'd be
getting her ears boxed off for doing that.
Speaker 14 (02:28:23):
You know.
Speaker 9 (02:28:23):
I mean, you don't have that option here, which is good.
That's not the answer, but you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (02:28:30):
Yeah, I do base off coming up and played back
around on the far side over trying to control it.
We're down to four to oh three are remaining in
the period and coming up ice in the neutral zone,
back over to try and control it. Goes back over
and coming up ice in the puck in the neutral zone,
and we're down to three point fifty remaining.
Speaker 9 (02:28:53):
Good hustle by Scandal down the right wall.
Speaker 22 (02:28:56):
And back around in behind the net trying to control it.
Speaker 4 (02:28:59):
They'll come out of the zone and it's going to
be played up ice controlling it and whistle and play
is going to be stopped off sides.
Speaker 9 (02:29:09):
I believe in Wisconsin, Yeah, or was it a huh?
Must spend a hand passer bringing all the way back
in our offensive zone, facing it off to the right
(02:29:29):
of Gas going here and Chaffie's in the circle.
Speaker 4 (02:29:32):
And we'll have that face off coming up along the
boards on the near side, over to try and pick
it up. Three point thirty remitting in the period. Minnesota
Duluth coming up Ice. They'll come through neutral, coming in
over the line, controlling it and Wisconsin breaks it up
and Wisconsin trying to control it the play back down
(02:29:53):
in the corner, going back over to set it up
and control and the play down to three ten remitting
in the.
Speaker 22 (02:29:59):
Period and come it up Ice.
Speaker 4 (02:30:01):
There's a drive in front of the badger net over
to try and pick it up and control it on
the wing and back in behind it's venusio or pardon me,
Jungles two fifty five remitting in the third period. They'll
play it off the boards along back in behind the net,
back over KK Harvey with it around on the far side,
(02:30:24):
coming up Ice controlling it in the neutral zone. Jungles
flips it down in the corner.
Speaker 9 (02:30:29):
Smooth skaters.
Speaker 4 (02:30:30):
Yeah boy, that is nice around the boards on the
far side, over trying to control it back in of
the line. And they're trying to move it toward the
net and the shot is wide of the goal around
controlling it over to pick it up, and it slides
out In Minnesota Duluth inside the line with two twenty
remenning off on the wing on the far boards, over
(02:30:53):
to set it up and come it up Ice controlling it.
Here's Gorbatenko comes in over the line and they'll dump
it back down in the corner whistle and action's.
Speaker 22 (02:31:01):
Going to be stopped with two o eight remaining in
the third period.
Speaker 9 (02:31:06):
Wow, the game's disappearing here, winding down.
Speaker 4 (02:31:12):
And Wisconsin will change up and the face off will
come up to the left side of Gascou for card
with it.
Speaker 9 (02:31:23):
Yeah, she wins a draw.
Speaker 4 (02:31:26):
And they'll set it up and try to control it.
With two seven are remitting in the period.
Speaker 9 (02:31:33):
Going to reface off. Somebody must have moved prematurely there.
Speaker 4 (02:31:39):
And the draw comes around on the play over the
wave of Murphy. Ah, but with it centered it right
out in front ice play around the boards on the
far side, coming up Ice controlling it comes back in
over the line and the puck is going to be
played by Venusio and they move it right out in front.
Badgers look to get it out in front of their
own zone, but Dluth holds it in and a shot blocked.
(02:32:01):
Ava's down. Puck game loose, and a scrap going on
down there. Lookout, and now we've got some players that
are gonna be uh.
Speaker 9 (02:32:10):
They're doing a Dutch pile on Ava there, and that
will stop the action student body and decrease everybody and
anybody's in there. Well, Paul, minute forty three to go,
four O lead. I don't think they're gonna call anything. No,
I don't think. Keep our heads and let's let them finish. Oh,
they're gonna march somebody of the box.
Speaker 22 (02:32:30):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (02:32:31):
They got the sims going in.
Speaker 22 (02:32:34):
And they're also going to put in a bulldog.
Speaker 9 (02:32:37):
Oh okay, they're matching them. Okay, yes, I guess.
Speaker 4 (02:32:41):
So, yep, so they'll match them up there. Yeah, they
got this maybe one of the more physical series I've
ever seen in Badger women's hockey.
Speaker 9 (02:32:51):
Yeah, yep, it really is uh, and you know it
doesn't have to be that way. I I hope the
officials learned something from this as well.
Speaker 4 (02:33:02):
We all can, you know, but well, the supervisor or
the officials director of officials is Jeff Shepherd. Yep, shep
been around college hockey and high school hockey pro a
long long time. Yeah, official himself many years ago, and
(02:33:22):
coming back over to set it up just inside the
blue line. You've got four on four plus goaltenders and
the playback. We've got one thirty four reminting it regulation time,
Wisconsin out in front by a score of Ford to
nothing and going back fifth and coming over to pick
it up is O'Brien. O'Brien back of the nat around
(02:33:44):
on the far side one eighteen, remaining here moving it
up ice, controlling it. They'll come through neutral, laid back
into the line, chase back down to the corner over
trying to control it, moving it in. There's a shot
traffic block of Minnesota. Duloup setting it up one oh three,
remainting in the period and went out on the cop
(02:34:05):
to shot off the glass that was fired by Casto Bud.
Casto Bud trying to pick it up and it's controlled
by O'Brien. O'Brien pulled the trigger and shot it Wi
forty eight seconds remain again controlling it down to the corner,
going back over to pick it up and trying to
work it loose on the boards on the near side.
Speaker 22 (02:34:26):
Here's Kramer with it.
Speaker 4 (02:34:28):
Framer, one of their better players, controlling it along the
board's far side, little give and go. Thirty seconds remaining
and Kramer circling trying to work her way loose, maybe
get off a drive. Oh and it.
Speaker 9 (02:34:41):
Comes off her stick. Scandal poked it off her stick.
Speaker 4 (02:34:44):
And Kramer goes down along the boards on the near side,
played back down on the corner. Sixteen seconds remaining around
on the far side, Wisconsin moving.
Speaker 22 (02:34:53):
It up by ice Harvey.
Speaker 4 (02:34:54):
They move it in over the line. Here's kk trying
to move it out in front of Eden with a
gob and the Wisconsin Badgers are gonna sweep the series
and Ava McNaughton has sixteen shutouts in her career. As
the Badgers defeat the Bulldogs of Minnesota Dluth by.
Speaker 9 (02:35:15):
A store of Ford and I think I'll tell you, Paul,
pretty productive weekend. Two conference victories over what I consider
a very good opponent. The Luth went in ranked four.
Speaker 4 (02:35:26):
It well, all right, mister Greeney, thank you for your comments.
We appreciate it very much.
Speaker 9 (02:35:32):
Great great to having this weekend with you again, Paul
on Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (02:35:36):
You bet you and the Badgers get tolls and we
hope to have Dan Cook on in just a minute. Here,
Mark Johnson is talking to the coach of Minnesota, dalut As.
The two teams will extage handshakes.
Speaker 22 (02:35:52):
Down on the ice.
Speaker 4 (02:35:54):
And the coaching staff there. Wisconsin got doles is the
game from KK Harvey for KK or third of the year,
from Pontter her third of the year, from Shapel valle
Bova her third of the year, and from Eden her
third of the year. And Wisconsin now is six and
(02:36:19):
zero on the season and they are in the wha
off to his start of four and zero. The handshake,
the traditional handshake among the coaches and the players taking
place here and the Bulldogs will be at home for
the first time next weekend, and I think we're gonna
(02:36:45):
have Dan Cook with us here momentarily.
Speaker 9 (02:36:48):
All right, Dan, are.
Speaker 4 (02:36:50):
You available downstairs?
Speaker 40 (02:36:51):
I can't hear him very well.
Speaker 4 (02:36:55):
We're gonna turn you up, Dan. Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Speaker 7 (02:36:59):
Dan?
Speaker 11 (02:36:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:37:01):
Well, congratulations on the suite for the Bulldogs of Minnesota.
Speaker 11 (02:37:04):
The little overall.
Speaker 4 (02:37:06):
What did you like that you saw on the Badger
just weight down?
Speaker 9 (02:37:10):
You know, we made some changes.
Speaker 40 (02:37:12):
The girls, you know, gave an effort and tried to
execute the things that we wanted to work on and
improve on from yesterday, and we were able to see that.
I thought our power play and especially our penalty kill
gave us a lot of momentum.
Speaker 4 (02:37:28):
Dan, this was one of the more physical series I
think I've ever seen in women's hockey.
Speaker 22 (02:37:33):
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 19 (02:37:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 40 (02:37:35):
We had players that are in the PWHL that came
down here and they were like, that's the roughest they
have ever seen a game. So I don't know what
needs to change or what things they can do, but
we just have to play our style game. We can't
get concerned about that. We got to go out and compete.
We got to get bucksed in deep and let our
(02:37:55):
power play go to work. We feel like we can
create a lot of opportunities and change the momentum with
our power play.
Speaker 4 (02:38:02):
Dah. When you mentioned this style for the Badgers, what
would you describe the style as?
Speaker 40 (02:38:07):
Oh, you know, we want to be fast, we want
to get north as quick as possible, we want to
get pucks on net, create second opportunities, get chaos in
front of their goalie, and I thought, you know, five
on five and we had stretches, we were able to
do that, and they definitely thought our power play was able.
Speaker 4 (02:38:22):
To do that. Did I see it correctly? Did you
do things in this game that were different? It seemed
like you took away part of the ice from them.
Is that correctly?
Speaker 9 (02:38:32):
Yeah, we were a little better on our fore check.
Speaker 40 (02:38:33):
We thought yesterday we got three forwards down low and
so that gave up some odd number of rushes. We
talked about committing some more to our d zone and
stronger on our one on ones, and I thought we
were able to use more players yesterday, So I thought
we were a little fresher, you know, coming into today.
Speaker 4 (02:38:52):
Aba McNaught now with sixteen shutouts, the right in our careers,
I'll tell you what, that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 40 (02:39:00):
Yeah, yeah, you know, it's a credit to her. She
had a you know, a strong week and a rough
week you know as far as workload being gone with USA,
and so for her to bounce back and recover not
only physically but mentally, she accepted that challenge and did well.
Speaker 4 (02:39:18):
And one final one. You know, you watch KK Harvey
and all of a sudden you see something that you
can't believe, but it happened so many times. He's start
a Cooker level, isn't it.
Speaker 14 (02:39:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 40 (02:39:30):
You know I thought, you know, you watched yesterday. The
way she kept that pucking, you know, late in the
game when we had our goalie polled, was unbelievable. And
then for her to score that shot, you know, to
get the first goal of the day, you know that
goes on in the very good goalie and to beat
her like she did. You know, she continues to surprise us,
but we shouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 4 (02:39:52):
Dan Cook, thanks for joining us. Dan, if you go,
thanks be that's Dan Cook upstairs or downstairs here. And
Wisconsin Badgers completing the sweep of the Bulldogs of Minnesota.
Speaker 22 (02:40:04):
Delude and joining us.
Speaker 4 (02:40:06):
Now is Aiden Michaels and Aiden, Yes, sir. Kind of
a fun weekend, huh.
Speaker 10 (02:40:11):
Absolutely, what a fun exciting game yesterday. This one in
a little bit low stress compared to yesterday's game, big four,
nothing win.
Speaker 11 (02:40:18):
They finally got it going on the power play. How
about that?
Speaker 22 (02:40:21):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (02:40:21):
And they are now six and zero on the ear
And by the way, the post game is presented by
Smart Motors, Madison's Toyota destination shop at Smartmotorstoyota.
Speaker 10 (02:40:32):
Dot com And welcome to the postgame show. As you
heard from PB, another big victory four Wisconsin for nothing.
The final score, lots and lots of penalties. We saw
a lot of them on the ice, and then of
course after the whistle there were a lot of pushing
and shoving resulting in some power plays. Minnesota Duluth had
another five on three. They had two five on threes
(02:40:53):
in the game. They could not capitalize. The Badger penalty
kill was absolutely perfect for the Badgers. They've struggled on
the power play in recent games. They got it done today.
Three of the four goals came on the power play,
and then the fourth goal not in order, but the
non power play goal was about a second and a
half after the power play ended, so there were still
(02:41:14):
four skaters on the ice technically when the Badgers put
that in, When Landy Potter slotted that one in, and
they're announcing the three stars here and no surprise, one
of them. Aba mcnonton getting another shutout. She broke her
shutout streak against Minnesota Duluth yesterday, got back in the
shutout calumn again today, big big performance from her. The
(02:41:34):
Badgers did it all. They made this number four Minnesota
Duluth team look like well, I don't want to say
an unranked team, but certainly not the number four team
in the country. The Badgers absolutely ran through them after
this scare that they had in yesterday's game. It was
great that the Badgers were able to come back and
win this game for nothing and get another shutout. And
(02:41:58):
of course Shappy one of the stars of the game
coming out now she I mentioned in the intermission is
getting under players skins, and then she took that huge
boarding or drew that huge boarding call in the corner.
Speaker 11 (02:42:10):
Resulting in a five minute power play.
Speaker 10 (02:42:12):
The Badgers did not score on that five minute power play,
but they did score on the initial penalty. It was
a five on three for a bit. And then the
number one star captain KK Harvey skating onto the ice
started things off with the Badgers in the first period
with that power play goal. Unbelievable solo effort from her,
and that just started things off the Badgers with a big,
(02:42:34):
big win. They will go to New York for a
tournament this weekend and all been in New York up state.
They'll have two games The first game is going to
be an eleven am start eleven oh seven to be specific,
against the University of Vermont. I will be on the
call for that game. It's going to be a fun
one to go on the road and head to New York.
So the final stats presented by a Jay and K Security.
(02:42:56):
Protect everyone in your life with the security system for
your home and business at jnksecurity dot com. So many
penalty minutes more than any other game in this season
so far for both teams. Badgers at the end of
the day with fifty four shots on goal to the
Minnesota Loose Bulldogs, twenty two no goals for the Bulldogs,
four for the Badgers. From our Greenhall and Paul Brown,
(02:43:19):
my name is Aiden Michaels. This was the postgame show,
saying so long from lebon Arena in Madison, Wisconsin. The
Badgers with another big win. We will see you next
weekend in New York.
Speaker 4 (02:43:33):
Under Way Delos. Will play it up the boards, driven
down to the Badgers zone. Got your stave already gotten
the puckers loose down to the corner of the right
shot of the Wisconsin joan. Whether it is KK Harvey
skating in coming in over the line, controls it with
a drive.
Speaker 27 (02:43:49):
Wow, man cord there over the potter with a drive
in front.
Speaker 4 (02:44:03):
The golf cap loads, the goaltender getting back. Wow, hit
the pipe by Harvey. Gas Cohen's on her back and
Harvey hit the pipe. Harvey with another drive and gas
go with the sage just going.
Speaker 9 (02:44:18):
Didn't even have a stick.
Speaker 4 (02:44:19):
Sims controlling it. Syms behind the desk looking for the
outlet on the path. Shots in front, Bartenders scramble, and
the Bulldogs cover as gas code down in the creek.
Somewhere in there lies the puck Badgers holding in like
a shooting gallery.
Speaker 22 (02:44:38):
Here, hold up one more time.
Speaker 9 (02:44:41):
You got it on the far.
Speaker 4 (02:44:42):
Side controlling it. The moh.
Speaker 8 (02:44:50):
Scores the goals for the Badger, your third and Wisconsin
late just sting.
Speaker 4 (02:44:57):
Nothing. There's a drive shot.
Speaker 11 (02:44:59):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 14 (02:45:03):
Not sure.
Speaker 4 (02:45:04):
I don't know if you might be king. We'll wait
and see on the official call.
Speaker 9 (02:45:12):
I think it was tipped by Shabby perhaps on Harvey
shot from uh right about the top of the right circle.
Speaker 4 (02:45:20):
Five seconds before the Badgers are back at full strength,
Wisconson clears it to the corner. They kill off the
five on three. They're back at full strength. Then that's
three nothing Wisconsin. In the third period, Sims are on
over to Kk Harvey. They work it in close, Sims
eating shot gipson for the Wiscottson.
Speaker 8 (02:45:46):
Badgers or third goal of the air and Wisconson Ridge.
Speaker 4 (02:45:50):
Has four do nothing and coming up ice trying to
control it. Minnesota Kalooth comes through working it in shot
save raybound follows Badger covered eigsy and there's no goal
light on, no goal light on, and the Wisconsin Badgers
are gonna sweep the series. And Ava McNaughton has sixteen
(02:46:13):
shutouts in her career as the Badgers defeat the Bulldogs
of Minnesota deluthe by a store of four to nothing.
