Speaker 2 (01:31):
Good Afternoon from Barry Alvarestfield at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison,
alongside Mark Tawsher, Patrick hurry By Keller, Dave McCann, our engineer,
and a Shad Jackson back in the network studio. This
is Matt Lapey. We welcome you to Wisconsin football on
a glorious fall day in Madison's seventy four degrees. The
sun is shining, a light wind out of the southwest

(01:53):
five to ten miles per hour, an absolutely beautiful day
for college football. As the Wisconsin Badgers, there's been talked
about ever since everybody knew this schedule, how daunting the
schedule would be. Big is a real daunting starting in
just a few minutes as the unbeaten and top ranked
Ohio State buck Guys are in town. The reigning national
champions and a team that some maybe many believe is

(02:16):
every bit is good and probably better than last year's
team that ran the d ran the table in the
College Football Playoff. We'll fight out together how good they
are today and what Wisconsin could do about it. And
with that, let us get to our construction business group
keys to the game was content Operating Engineers. Build your career,

(02:36):
Join one three nine dot com. Mark Telsher, what do
you have for Wisconsin's keys to give itself a chance
here today?

Speaker 8 (02:45):
I think there is no question when you have a
performance like we saw last week and there's a lot
of outside noise and you can say all the right things.
I just think today a fast start. We saw it
in what twenty ten and it feels like for Everrico.
But just getting something positive because right now what I'm
worried about is that you can kind of fall into

(03:06):
the oh, here we go again type of vibe and
fast start, and today it's easier said than done. Everybody
will tell you to play clean football. It's a lot
easier to play clean football when you're playing against lesser talent.
You're facing big boy talent today, So today it needs
to be as sound gap control on the one side
and then hold on to the football and just play.

(03:28):
You try to play as clean as you can. But
getting off to a start here and just getting something
positive going to uplift this group I think is going
to be critical.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Tamas, you want to ask you a question here that
we didn't go over in our pregame production meeting. By
the way, you guys, particularly in ninety nine. You had
several games where everybody expected you guys to win by
four touchdowns. I'm sure the question Ohio State fans have
for their team is how focused will they be? You
guys went through that. What was the challenge?

Speaker 8 (03:56):
It's when you hear Nick Sabit and you hear you know,
Mike McCarthy. One of the things that he would always
say is the hardest thing as a coach is to
handle success. And I really think that is the case
because it is really easy to practice hard and to
be focused when you have everybody telling you that you're
no good and everything else. When people start giving you
a little taste of the rat poison, as Saban says,

(04:17):
that's when you really have to make sure that you're
focusing in and that's where you find those little chips
on the shoulder to put on these players and the
great teams they don't fall for that, and I think
that's where you're going to see Ohio State. They have
been consistent all season and I'm sure today it's a
road game, they're going to tell them all the right

(04:38):
things and it's Wisconsin's job to put some doubt into
their head.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Oh, there are a number of Ohio natives, of course
in the Wisconsin program, beginning most notably with the head
coach who was a terrific player pull the Buck guys
back in the nineties. Well, there are Ohio guys on
the playing roster for Wisconsin. One of them we heard
from a little while ago in Darryl Peters, and he's
from ac In, Ohio. But there's more to the story
than what DP and I covered in six minutes. Athletes

(05:05):
kind of run in the family. As we send it
down and say hello to our sideline reporter, Patrick Kerr.

Speaker 9 (05:10):
Good after June Newon, Good afternoon, and gentlemen, and what
a beautiful day we've got for football today. And this
is the day I'm honored and grateful to be on
the sidelines. Those are their special days and where you're
not going to take it for granted. In mid October,
and another guy who doesn't take things for granted around
here is Darryl Peterson. He's a fifth year Badger, has
been through a lot in his five to ten years

(05:31):
a year tenure, obviously including a coaching change, but he's
a guy who is the ultimate representative of what this
program and what this university wants from its student athletes,
an academic All Big Ten selection, he graduated with a
business degree and now he's playing.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
His best football as a fifth year senior.

Speaker 9 (05:49):
In fact, the stats will belie exactly what his impact
has been.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
Through six games. He's got thirteen.

Speaker 9 (05:54):
Tackles, but he's got a team high five for loss
and according to Pro Football Focus, who does analytic judgments
on players all over the conference, he's rated as the
third best defensive grade among all Big Ten defenders, third
among all Big Ten defenders now notably, Ohio State has
two of the top five as well. But Darryl Peterson
playing his best ball, and he's been one of the

(06:15):
guys that's been singled out by Luke Fickel as a
guy who gets the most or more out.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
Of his God given ability.

Speaker 9 (06:22):
And I think that's a testament to him and how
hard he's worked. He's also put on weight and changed
the way he plays.

Speaker 7 (06:27):
A little bit this year.

Speaker 9 (06:28):
He's part outside backers, part defensive lineman. But in listening
to him yesterday, he met with the CBS talent and
they wanted to talk to him about this team and
what they're playing for and what the attitude is. And
he could have been a better representative for this group.
He said, I am so proud to wear the motion
W and I play every play like it's my last
because I care that much about this university, this school, and.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Where I am.

Speaker 9 (06:52):
And you mentioned the bloodlines. Yes, he's got a brother
who's pretty good at basketball. He's a freshman at Kansas
who his name is Darren Peterson and just might be
the one pick in the NBA Draft next year. But
we got a Peterson here and Darryl that we should
all be proud of his badgers.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, he's a terrific guy talas we've talked about him
a fair amount over dp's career. And as long as
you have a lot of guys like that, you're gonna
have a chance.

Speaker 10 (07:18):
You know.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We know this has been disappointing through the first half
and it's a daunting to say the least second half.
But the biggest picture, if you could keep bringing in
guys like him in the program, then that gives you
the best chance to getting things back to where you
want it to do.

Speaker 8 (07:32):
He's about all the right stuff, you can just tell.
And I know he had his kind of his crew
and a couple of those guys left. But you just
love his attitude. He works, you go to practice, He's
always one of the last guys off the field doing
extra stuff. I think he looks at this in a
big picture way. And as Patrick just mentioned, I think
there has been you know, there's been a lot of

(07:54):
downs obviously in doing this, you know, this season, but
every game there is at least one or two plays
and he has been asked to play inside. He's doing
all of the things. He makes one or two big
time plays. We asked for, tackles for loss, we asked for,
you know, big time plays on the defensive side. DP
is doing that and he's leading. He is everything that
you're looking for in a Wisconsin Badger.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Captains will be meeting momentarily for the coin toss. Darryl Peterson,
Ben Barton, Joe Brunner, and Vinnie Anthony and today's honorary
captain still looks like he's in play in shape. Our buddy,
your your close friend and teammate all number five Brooks Bollinger.

Speaker 8 (08:34):
I just I love Brooks. He is you talk about
epitomizing a Badger. Brooks Bollinger stepped in as a young
player led our football team continued to lead, and I
think he is the greatest Wisconsin Badger quarterback of all time.
That's my own opinion. Love to have that debate with anybody,
but he is everything that you're looking for as a leader,

(08:55):
and he's a real fun son of a gun.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I'll tell you all right now, you want to argue
with Tasha on that bring along, it's pay off because
it's going to take a while. I remember that ninety
nine his first start. He came in in relief late
in the Michigan game the previous week, led the team
on a touchdown drive, gave him a chance. Brooks took over.
Badgers never lost again. Captain's on the field for the
coin toss. It is the tail.

Speaker 8 (09:17):
If you won the toss, you.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Got microphone cut out. So Ohio State has won the toss.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
At a little less juice this week. On the coin toss.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Last week, Ohio State has deferred. So Wisconsin, Yeah, Wisconsin
will receive. Yeah. Both teams came out of their tunnels
without incident here today, so I didn't have any any
shenanigans before the opening kick. So the Badgers will be
receiving in Ohio State will be kicking off of the
thirty five as opposed to the Badgers last week when
they kicked off of their own twenty I was wondering.

Speaker 8 (09:53):
I assumed Ohio State would defer, and like I thought
Iowa would have deferred last week, and obviously we thought
little skirmish in the fifteen yards. Iowa ended up taking it.
So this is more standard protocol, and this gives Wisconsin's
offense and I like this for Wisconsin to set a tone.
And we saw that up in Ann Arbor. That was
I think, at this up to this point in the season,

(10:15):
the best, most impressive drive and to set a tone today,
you know, getting out to that fast start, put the
ball in your hands, go down, move the football, show
Ohio State that you can do some things up front.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Jaden Fielding handles the kicking duties for Ohio State. He's
kicked off thirty seven times, twenty six occasions. There have
been touchbacks. So you've got Vinnie Anthony and Kid Jacamelli
as the Badgers will receive. Go left to right as
we view it north to south here at Camp Randalls Stadium,
temperature in the mid seventies, light breeze, bright sunshine, perfect

(10:49):
day for football, we'll take it on October eighteenth here
in the States of Wisconsin. The Badgers in the All
Cardinal Unis Cardinal jerseys and the Cardinal pants, the White Helmets,
Ohio State Traveling White jerseys, and the gray pants the
Scarlett trim. As we are set to kick off, Ryan
Day the head coach. He has had a remarkable run

(11:12):
seventh year as a head coach, forty nine and five
of the Big Ten, seventy six and ten overall, and
he brings the reigning national champions here to town. Ranked
number one in the nation yet again. As we are
set to go, the Wisconsin Badgers and the number one
ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Fielding is ready. Anthony is ready,

(11:37):
the Ohio State kicker on the run up, and he'll
steer it away from Vinnie faircatch signaled by Kate Jacamelli.
He'll make it inside the ten and the Badgeries will
start at their twenty five yard line, and we are
underway in Madison.

Speaker 8 (11:50):
Really liked a lot of stuff last week. I know,
obviously you'd say, well, you're crazy, zero points. I love
the way Dylan Jones ran the football last week, and
after watching the game back again, I thought there were
some holes. They did some nice things. But what I
loved about last week Dylan Jones did what he was
supposed to and then when he got to that next level,
he found ways to make guys miss and get some more.

(12:12):
We're gonna need a lot of that this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
And Hunter Simmons is the starting quarterback. As we mentioned
a while ago, the Badgers will come out three receivers
to the left and that includes Dylan Jones, and now
Jones will motion into the backfield and the handoff goes
to Jones off the right side across the twenty five
yard line and he'll fall forward to about the twenty
seven on a gain of two. And you had Kayden
McDonald in there on the defensive line and linebacker Peyton

(12:36):
Pierce on the stop game two second down and eight, a.

Speaker 8 (12:39):
Unique way to get Dylan Jones the football. You don't
just line them up, you line them off of the
left side, and that kind of that triple formation and
basically a little Jets sweep trying to get an edge
off of the right tackle. Ohouse, they played that pretty well.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Picked up two tretch Keckahune in there. Motions left. Here's
the hand off the Jones trying to hit it off
the right side, and he gets smacked right away. He'll
drive up for a couple of yards up to the
twenty nine yard line. R Vel Reese very gifted linebacker
junior at of Cleveland, Ohio on the tackle. Third down
and six for the Badgers at their twenty nine yard line.

Speaker 8 (13:09):
Yeah, it's tough. The guys guys up front actually did
a pretty good job moving off of the right side. Unfortunately,
Jake Renfrow at center head his guy covered up Austin
was able to kind of slip off. Let that linebacker
come in. Set up a third and six.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Joe Brunner, Kerry kodonco or the guards Riley Malman Emerson
Mandel are the tackles. Jacamelli in the backfield down three
receivers left, one on the right, third and six Wisconsin
from its own twenty nine yard line. Snap the Hunter
Simmons looks throws over the middle and the catches made,
but short of the first down is Eugene Hilton at
the thirty four yard line needed the thirty five. The

(13:42):
freshman out of Indiana, Eugene Hilton, t Y's son makes
the catch, but the Badger's a yard short and we'll
send on the punt team and it will be Sean West,
the freshman, red shirt freshman out of Metkwan Homestead. He
will have his first punt as a Badger. There's an
all state punter in the state of Wisconsin, plates of

(14:05):
quarterback as well, and he is in there to punt
in place of Atticus Bertram's. Brandon Innis is back to
receive the punt for Ohio State. Line of scrimmage of
Wisconsin thirty four snapped a West steps up and the
kick is away, steering it away from Innis needs a bounce,
gets one inside the twenty, inside the fifteen, and it'll

(14:25):
dribble out of bounds near the ten yard line. Didn't
hit it great, but got a very favorable bounce of
fifty five yard punch and Ohio State will start at
its eleven yard line. Today's game brought to you by
Alliance Energy. Alliant Energy is building a strong, resilient energy
future today and for generations to come. We welcome today's
game sponsor, Alliance Energy.

Speaker 8 (14:47):
What do you mean he didn't hit it good? You're
gonna ask him in ten years. He's gonna say a
rocket five yards, but that was the case, a good
not a great punt, but ended up being a great
result by steering it towards a sideline, got a great
kick and now flip the field position here for the Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Badgers, guy's going south to north, right to left. His
review at Bo Jackson, the running back. Julian's saying the
quarterback takes a snap, reads, keeps, throws to the right,
caught by Jeremiah Smith, and he gets pulled down right
away by Ricardo o'hllman across the fifteen to the seventeen
yard line, a gain of six. As many say, the
nation's best receiver, if not the best player period. Jeremiah

(15:24):
Smith getting involved right away.

Speaker 8 (15:26):
And a great tackler by Rico. Gonna have a lot
of one on one opportunities today.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Second down and four for the Buckeye Shotgun snapped this
saying back to throw plenty of time, fires to the left,
wide open, Carnell Tape makes a catch across the thirty
yard line, driven out of bounds by Matt Young across
the thirty to the thirty two So saying with a
couple of early throws, first down Ohio State two and
a half minutes gone by.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
Yeah, a lot of tempo there, and he just found
a soft spot in Wisconsin zone and saying through it
exactly where you need, kind of found the spot. First
down Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Max Claire tied end, Brandon and his Carnelle take come
out to the rights, Jeremiah Smith to the left from
the thirty two yard line, Ohio State territory, first and
ten against, saying to throw left side to Smith makes
a catch across the thirty five and he is shoved
out of bounds over there by Emilio, a guard at
the thirty seven on a gain of five. Second down
and five for Ohio State three and it's gone by

(16:19):
no score. Buck guys with their first possession need a
little bit of pace here to the offense pistol formation
now on second down and five, as saying the playfake
rolling left, drops it off the Max Claire the tied
end across the forty made a man miss across the
forty five and he gets caught from behind by Parker
Peterson at the forty seven yard line and a first down.

(16:41):
Claire in an otherwise really tough year for Purdue, he
had pretty good numbers last year fifty one receptions for
the Boilermakers, and he has sixteen catches now in his
first season at Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
Just a hard sell by the offensive line to the
right side, saying, does a nice job of bootlegging out
to the left, getting it in. Claire made a guy
miss and was able to pick up the first down.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
At the Ohio State forty seven yard line. Claire starts
the motion to the left, saying, reeds keeps flips caught
by Claire across the fifty yard line. Work on the
right side into badger territory. Recaller Ricardo'hllman first on the scene.
The gain of five more man, it's a second down
and five Ohio State at the Wisconsin forty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (17:21):
That's all hard, play action selling. Obviously Ohio State wanting
to kind of soften up Wisconsin's run defense. They're selling
it hard. Quick throws, bootlegs, move in the pocket, picking
up big chunks. On first down.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Three receivers to the left, Max Clair to the right,
bo Jackson, the running back, saying again play fake steps up,
looks throws over the middle, caught by Jackson at the
forty to the thirty five wrapped up by Matt Young
there for Wisconsin along with Christian Allegro to the thirty
two yard line of Wisconsin. Another first down for Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (17:54):
Ohio, said Philip Daniels. Their right tackle did a really
nice job on Ryger. Ruger I thought was gonna get there,
was able to push him back, and then saying was
able to step up find his checkdown, and there was
a little bit too much room there from our linebackers
on that little checkdown, and that allowed him to go
pick up the first down.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Two receivers to the left, one to the right, pistol
formation for the thirty two yard line Wisconsin territory, Wolcasmeric
to tight end motions left to right, first down hand
off to Jackson. He got hit. Ben Barton was first
there and then gets some help behind the line of scrimmage.
So finally a negative play here for Ohio State. They'll
mark at the thirty three yard line, loss of one.
They get second at eleven.

Speaker 8 (18:32):
You said, a Riyger came screaming off the edge to
really tighten it. And then Barton is right there. And
Ben Barton, you just love what he does. He holds gaps.
He is big, strong and you see a little bit
right there, Wyohio State is bootlagging and trying to do
things out because of that run defense.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Smith comes out to the right in a slot left
Carnell Taede wide left of the thirty three of Wisconsin.
Second down and eleven. Bo Jackson remains the running back
to the left of the quarterback. He hei snapped is saying,
looking past deflected Penn Marus fly they kill the play
movement up front. Should be a false start here against
Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
The right tackle moved. He flinched a little early prior
to the ball being snapped.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
False start offense number.

Speaker 11 (19:13):
Seventy seven, five yard penalty is still second out.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
That's the right guard tag rush both shabola and that's
the voice of referee Jeff Servinsky.

Speaker 8 (19:23):
Yeah, I was wondering he you can always kind of
tell it's a little disjointing. I'm looking at the line.
Juts throw the flag. Yeah, And it was a super late,
very late, super late flag on a false start. Second
back ended up taking a drill shot because of it.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Second out in sixteen Ohio State at the Badger's thirty
eight yard line, An Jackson, the running back. The motion
outlines up slot to the right empty backfield, saying, quick
throw caught by innis inside the forty left side to
the thirty five yard line, and he'll take it down
to the thirty two getting over there. For the Badgers,
he had Matt Young in their first hit from Sebastian Cheeks,

(19:57):
So that's to the original line of scrimmage if that
and actually it may be still a yard behind it
at the thirty three of the Badger's third down and
eleven for Ohio State eight thirty five and County left
to a store of this first quarter, and in the
Badger or the Buckey's receiver is now down and needs
some medical attention. He's in a seated position to the

(20:21):
right of where the Ohio State huddle would be. So
we have a stoppage in US Junior out of Hollywood, Florida,
and the athletic trainers for Ohio State out to take
a look at him, and I think we may take
a full time out here. With eight minutes and thirty
two seconds left in the opening quarter. Life's better with

State with a third and eleven at the Wisconsin twenty
or bike that the Wisconsin thirty three yard line.

Speaker 8 (23:15):
This is what we need to see today is to
get into this position where it is third and long
and if it's a penalty that helps get it, or
a TfL, whatever you need. You can't let Ohio State
just stay normal. Here's a third and eleven. You get
the crowd going here a little bit, make a big play.
This is when you have those opportunities to make a play.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Badgers have Austin Brown, Matt Young and Matt's trainer to
the end of the secondary third down and eleven. Ohio
State has converted fifty four percent of the time so
far this season. Ce J Donaldson is the running back.
Snap the sayand Badgers sending for saying pressure shuffled left.
He'll throw it deep over the middle to the end zone.

(23:54):
Car'll tap, We'll go up and get it a spectacular
catch in traffic, touchdown. Ohio state.

Speaker 8 (24:06):
That was a wail of a catch and a really
good job by saying Wisconsin brought a little pressure, was
able to make him move out of the pocket, roll
to his left, and then just throw it up right
at the end, his helmet comes off. I don't know
if the ball was moving around, but into double coverage.
Looks like he secured it. Helmet pops off. Just a

(24:26):
big time play right there, boy with.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Matt Young and Austin Brown. Right there, that's an NFL
caliber catch right there in Ohio States with the early
lead here at Camp Randall and for Julian saying that
is his sixteenth touchdown throw in the fifth touchdown catch
for Carnell Tait, the junior out of Chicago, fielding with

nine play, eighty nine yard drive for Ohio State Julian
Sam with a strike and a terrific catch from Carnell

(27:22):
Tate thirty three yards on the throw and catch, eight
twenty five left to the first quarter. It's seven to nothing.
Ohio State leads Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (27:29):
It's everything you drew up right. You want to get
to a third and law, you want to get the
crowd into a little bit your defense on the field,
and that's just a great play by great players. Rob
saying was able to avoid the rush to his left.
He rolls out, sets his feet, squares his shoulders, back up,
throws it where his guy can go make a play
in between two of our guys, goes high, points to

(27:51):
football and secure as it brings it down. That's one
of those where you say, hey, there, guys were better
than our guys on that play.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Jaden Fielding again said to kick opening kicks steered away
from Vinnie Anthony and in the direction of ka Yakamelli,
who took the fair catch. We'll see how the Buckeyes
play at this time around. Vinnie did have the ninety
five yard kick return of the game at Alabama a
few weeks ago. Man Fielding again keeps it away. Is
this one is a rocket that's gonna sale at the

(28:20):
back line of the end zone. Well, the touch back, well,
the end game adversity, and unfortunately the Badger's facing it
early today. So how do you handle it. Let's check
in with Patrick Hurr.

Speaker 9 (28:29):
That's the exact thing that's been preached really all season,
but in particular this week of how do you respond
when something negative happens. And we've seen that Wisconsin hasn't
handled it well last week against Iowa.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
They make early mistakes.

Speaker 9 (28:41):
And compound it and compound it and they're out of
the game before they even have a chance. In this
game today, Luke Fickle preached, they are gonna make plays.
They're good, They're gonna make plays, but we have to
go play by play and not get freaked out when
they do.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Shotgun formation for Hunter Simmons, Minne Anthony wide left, Simmons
back to throw for man Buckeye rush left side pass,
hangs in the air and that's pulled down across the
forty yard line. All right, nice catch, and that's Jackson McGowan,
one of those Ohio guys on the roster, going up
and getting it first down to the forty yard line

(29:14):
on a game of fifteen. Nice grab by mcgoing, redshirt
sophomore out of Miamisburg, Ohio.

Speaker 8 (29:19):
Had pretty good coverage, great protection up front. Let Simmons
kind of set his feet and then McGowan did a
great job of high point and going and getting.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
It I formation. Now is Simmons hands off to Dylan Jones,
hits it up the left Cash marks across the forty
and up near the forty four yard line, eing of
about four on the play. Caleb downs another one of
those players many think is on the short list of
best player period in America where safety makes the tackle
second and six.

Speaker 8 (29:45):
Yeah, he's a special player. He's somebody that Matt Patricia
loves to utilize put in different spots there. Wisconsin went
a little tempo there, trying to get something going round,
a little power play pulled. The right guard picked up
a quick four back of the shotgun.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Now as Hunter Simmons deal Jones, the running back will
motion out wide to the right empty backfield. Then the
Anthony slot of the right snap the Simmons more Man
rush and then thrower goes in and out of the
hands of Yachamelli and that's picked off Ohio, Ohio State.
The throw looked good, just wasn't handled and Sunny Styles,
a senior linebacker gobbles it up and his first intent

(30:21):
Ohio State at the Wisconsin forty three yard line. Kay
Yacamelli just could not gather it.

Speaker 8 (30:27):
Hutter threw. He threw it hard. It was a good
strike right to him and a cage Ohio State linebacker
right pine him, kind of ready to hit him. Ball
pop straight up in the air and it's a turnover
and it is not. Unfortunately, this is the start that
we saw last week.

Ohio State forcing an early turnover. They lead seven to nothing,
seven to ten left in the first quarter. Before we
move on, let's pause ten seconds for station identification, ten
for an ID. This is Badger football from Learfield. It
was a fastball from Hunter Simmons Kade Jacamelli unable to
gather at the coverage was from the safety Jalen McClain
with the deflected pass off the hands of Ecamelly was

(33:00):
gathered by Sonny Styles, the Ohio State linebackers or the
Bluckeys for the first of ten at the Wisconsin forty
three yard line.

Speaker 8 (33:07):
And I've been saying this the last couple of games
with Hunter Simmons. I think he's done some good things.
It always comes back to you. You have to not
every throw needs to be the same. That is not
his fault by any stretch of the imagination. There, hard
throw comes in, wall pops up in the air, and
great defenses that rally to the football house. State found
it there and now sets up a short.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Field and Julian saying will work from the shotgun. Bo
Jackson too was right saying looking to throw for him.
Man Rush drops it off screen to the left. Here's
Jackson at the forty left side and tripped up at
the thirty seven yard line. A legro on the tackle,
Like Christian felt that a little bit, but he gets
back up and is ready to go for second down.
That was a game of six.

Speaker 8 (33:46):
Nice design there by Ohio State to allow the rush
to come up and Allegro made. I don't know if
it would have been a touchdown saver, but a big flight.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Two receivers right went on the left, little pressure come
and saying, throws to the right side. That's caught by
Jeremiah Smith inside. That's twenty five down of the twenty
three yard lineup Wisconsin and Ohio State right back on
the attack with six and a half minutes left in
the first quarter.

Speaker 8 (34:07):
And you see why everybody loves him so much. That
ball a good throw by saying, but to get out
of that break that quickly, a lot of times widouts
have to actually stay in there catching. He's catching it
and moving forward, picked up a couple extra yards. They're
picked up the first down.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Smith wide left in his slot to the Left's Carnell
take to the right for the Wisconsin twenty three yard line,
saying back to throw. Four man rush again, saying, throw's
left side deep Jeremiah Smith. It's broken up by Riccardo
Hallman in the end zone and nearly picked off Paul.
That's big time coverage from Rico on Jeremiah Smith and
it's second down and ten.

Speaker 8 (34:40):
Jeremiah Smith ended up playing defensive back there. Rico gets
his head turned around and I think if he could
have maybe snapped his head half a second quicker, he
ends up getting there, doesn't quite pull it into his body.
Smith plays a good defensive back to knock that away.
Rico played that beautifully well.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Milio Aguard over there on Smith, who comes out wide
to the ranks slot left, slot right, saying back to
throw swings and left. Caught by Bo Jackson, He'll leave
his way down to the twenty yard line. JVR sugs
defensive lineman on the tackle, gain of three, and it's
third down and seven for the Buckeyes. Five point fifty
five left for the first quarter. Seven nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (35:21):
Just a little swing pass and Luke Fickel is down there.
He's really getting after the officially thought there was a
block in the back on the perimeter where Wisconsin was
funneling it back inside. Didn't get that call. Ohow State
picks up three or four, setting up a third and seven.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Cej Donaldson, the running back, two hundred and thirty two
pound freshman slot left, slot right now in his wide
right motions to the formation, saying to throw under some pressure,
weaves away from one of my Sebastian cheeks. We'll close
the gate, saying, taking down at the twenty yard line
on his fourth down and seven. Ohio State will send
on the field goal team.

Speaker 8 (35:56):
That was Mason Posa from his spot loops around four
is Saying out of the pocket, and what you do
as a rusher a lot of times you go all
the way up the field. Sebastian Chieks did a great
job of retracing his steps and is able to bring
Saying down or he would have picked up that first
down with his legs. Great great discipline there by getting

(36:17):
the pressure and then also sticking with it Cheeks pulling
back and getting him down to the ground forcing a
field goal attack.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Jayden Fielding is six of seven in field goal tries
this season. This is a thirty eight yard attempt at
a timeout now taken by Wisconsin first charge timeout full
of the Badgers with four forty four left of the
first quarter. We'll keep it here. Seven to nothing, Ohio State,
so off the turnover. The buck guys began at the

(36:43):
Badger's forty three yard line, but the defense keeping the
buck guys out of the end zone here.

Speaker 8 (36:49):
And that's what you're asking for. Obviously. The turnover is
an unfortunate deal. Ricochet ball and Ohio State makes a
play it. You know they're up seven that's what you're
looking for from this defense. Rico makes a great play
in the end zone on one of the best players
in college football, goes up, tries to make a high
point play, and then you get off the field. You're
forcing a field goal attempt on a very short field.

(37:10):
Those are the little things that you need to do
to stay in these type of games.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
So line up again. Thirty eight yard try from inside
the left hash marks Fielding a senior. Lines are set.
Here's the snap placement made. The kick is away and
it is good. Thirty eight yard poke for Jaden Fielding

for a field goal, and that's a win because Ohio
eight through the first half of the season, four st
eight turnovers, turn seven of those into touchdowns. They settle

(40:05):
for three here, ten to nothing. Buckeyes lead the Badgers
with four pin forty left in quarter number one.

Speaker 8 (40:11):
And you're always looking for little things to build off of.
And you know, we hear complimentary football all the time
and that that can mean a lot of different things.
But that was the case. There were the defense understood, Hey,
the offense made a turnover short field for a really
good offense, and Wisconsin found its way. It was able
to make enough place to force the stop and a
field will attempt and you know, keep this thing, keep

(40:32):
this thing within striking distance, and you give up a
touchdown there you start wondering things. So now that complimentary
piece goes back. All right, we kind of helped you out. Now, offense,
we need a little something. Give us a beat here
because we've been on the field a bunch this first quarter.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Well, the first two kickoffs, Ohio State has kept it
away for Vintie Anthony who was back there yet again
with kaid Yakammelli as Jayden fielding with the kick and
this will not be returned? Is this we'll hit again
the back line of the end zone and it's first
in ten the Badgers at their twenty five yard line.

Speaker 8 (41:03):
Well, so far it's been a lot of passing. The
rushing yards. Ohio State is limited to negative one. That's
a really good start. Unfortunately Wisconsin and not enough plays yet,
but only eight and you feel like they're trying. They're
gonna continue to try. They're doing some up temple things
and they want to find some type of rhythm. You
get the first down catch early, make a play and

(41:25):
unfortunately it turn it over. Now you just need to
try and sustain something here.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Yeah, they're gonna go direct snap here to Kate Yakamell
on first down, hitting it off the right side across
the twenty five to the twenty seven yard line. Hunter
Simmons just took a step to his left. You had
Yakamelli and Giddeon Atuca in the backfield. It was Yakamelli
taking the snap and runs for a couple to the
twenty seven yard line of Wisconsin. Second down and eighth Yeah.

Speaker 8 (41:49):
That's kind of a funky looking deal. Hunter Simmons is
standing almost right next to him, and he faked like
put his hands up like he was gonna catch it.
The snap goes to Yacamela. Ohio State not fooled a
nice up with their gap integrity, limiting it to two
yard pick.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Up the linebacker Peyton Piers on that tackle and second down,
here's Dylan Jones up the right hash mark across a
thirty yard line and up to maybe the thirty one
Taiwan Maloone a defensive tackle with the first hit and
then had helped him three or four of his defensive
teammates third down and four for Wisconsin at its own
thirty one yard line.

Speaker 8 (42:21):
Really nice double team there by Kadonko and mandel Off
of that right side got great push. He is able
to move their guy backwards and that allowed them to
pick up four or five yards. And now you get
a real manageable third down situation.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Third and four, Gene Hilton tretch Kekahuna, Lance Mason to
the left. Mason motions to the formation, shotguns staff Simmons
hands off to Dylan Jones and he gets swallowed up
right away. Thirty one yard line is all he'll get,
as he had Peyton Piers waiting for him, and you
had a couple of dudes with the scarlet and gray

(42:56):
uniforms just there to make the play Piers. And it
was taiewe On Malone on the tackle. Fourth down and
four and the Badgers are punting again and it is
Seawan West once again handling the punt duties.

Speaker 8 (43:08):
Yeah, just not a good enough job there by the
left side of Wisconsin's offensive line. He had a little leakage,
no room there to run, and that's why we're punting
the football away.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
West gets the stamp, steps up and the kick is
away and he hit this well. It turns over Brandon
in his back pedaling fields at the sixteen across the
twenty five yard line In is up near the thirty
and a first down at for Ohio State ver Board
a lot of getting down there in punt coverage fifty
four yard punt thirteen on the return, two forty five
left to the first quarter. Ten nothing Ohio State, but

(43:38):
a Buckeye is taking over at their thirty yard line.

Speaker 8 (43:40):
Yeah, I love there and we I know you did
a feature on him or in the pregame show, Daryl
Peterson down there. Yeah, scrambling around and just competing and fighting.
And you know, now he's going back out on the
defensive side of the ball. He's been around a long
time and he's he's done a lot of really good things.
He's out there competing on special teams and unfortunately ask
for the defense, for the offense to give the defense

(44:02):
a little beat. Defenses back out through the quick three and.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Out Ben Barton, Charles Perkins making a part of that
defensive line as Julian Saying goes under center, pulls back
hand off Donalds and left side with the scene thirty
five to the forty yard line, up to the forty
three and again of thirteen yards coming up to make
the tackle is the cornerback of Millio Waguard. And you
got a guy like CJ. Donaldson with a head of steam,
you're asking for trouble. Thirteen yards on the run first

(44:26):
and ten buck Eyes at their forty three yard line.

Speaker 8 (44:28):
And it's worth noting that Christian alegro not out there.
Looks like it's Posa out there replacing it.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
They were escorting Christian back to the locker room, double
wide to the right shotgun snaps saying, rolls to his right,
looking still rolling, throws right sideline, going up and getting
it his carnal tait and he'll go out of bounds
to the thirty yard line of the far side in
Wisconsin territory. Oh, that young man has some soft hands.
First down for the Buckeyes, were right back on the move.

Speaker 8 (44:53):
Ben Rico is in that quarter of the zone, and
I think most teams take the under route three or
four yards. Not that time. Took the big shot and
they connected.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
Donaldson remains the running back, Saying, takes it to him,
looking to throw, and floats it over the middle. Donald's
in the catch twenty five to the twenty yard line
up the hash marks. He goes on the right side,
covered up at the sixteen yard line. Posa there for Wisconsin.
Another first down for Ohio State first and ten at
the Badgers sixteen.

Speaker 8 (45:19):
Now they ran Max clear their tight end on a
steam route down the middle, and what you're asking your
linebackers you have to cover part of that, and when
you do that, you give all kinds of space and
what you're seeing Ohio State. When that gets covered, they
take the little dank dunk and there's way too much
room for run after catch on that. That was way
too easy.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
Mbad Posa and Aaron Witt finally bringing him down. Smith
why to the right in a slot right receiver out
wide to the left as well. From the sixteen first
and ten, here's the handoff Bote Jackson straight ahead and
he hits it inside the fifteen down to the thirteen
yard line, and you had Mason Posa down there along
with fellow freshman linebacker Cooper Catalano. Game of three second

(46:01):
down and seven at the Wisconsin thirteen.

Speaker 8 (46:03):
Had great job there by posts of just finding his hole.
That's as a linebacker a lot of times you have
to look at it. As a running back. You need
to find which hole you can go to go make
a play. He does the read, goes the back door
and is able to bring him down for a three yard.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Game trips to the left. Jackson, the running back to
the right is saying in the shotguns. Second down and
seven at the Badgres thirteen yard line, Saying gets the stamp,
hands off to Jackson up the middle, pops his way
down to the ten yard line. Randon Lane, the defensive
lineman on the stop. Third down and four here for
the Buckeyes with twenty two seconds in counting left in

(46:39):
the first quarter. So we'll see whether Ohio State wants
to run a play here. Ohio State one out of
two on third down. They get back on the ball
game clock at ten seconds left in the first quarter
of all to ten yard line, snapped the saying looks left,
throws left end zone, tap, reaches up and makes the catch,
touchdown Ohio State. It was pride, but he was clearly

(47:01):
in first hey Connel table, the second touchdown pass, second
touchdown reception of the quarter, and it's now sixteen to
nothing the Buckeyes.

Speaker 8 (47:11):
A guard is over on coverage there, and that was
just a timing route that was really well executed. By saying,
he threw it out. And these wide receivers are special.
They are they are special, and it's going to take
special efforts to slow him down. And right now, Wisconsin's
having a hard time doing that.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
So a seventy yards scoring drive for Ohio State. Here's
the Buckeyes not messing around, taking control of this game.
As the pat is good, we'll keep it here. You
still have four seconds left of the first quarter. Ohio
State seventeen, Wisconsin nothing So yet again, the worst case

(47:52):
scenario is playing out here in the first period for
the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (47:56):
This is different, yes it is. I mean last week
we kind of gift drapped, and I know there was
the interception on a pick, a deflected ball or a
tipped up ball. This is Ohio State special. And they're
receiving corps quarterbacks. They're not even really trying to run
the football. They're lining up, they're going Temple and great

(48:16):
example there. I was sitting here thinking, are they gonna
run it out for it? You know, they end up
they could have ran the clock out. They're just looking
at it and saying, we're gonna go and we're gonna
continue to put pressure on you because we think our
guys have more talent and can do more things. And
right now their receiving corps some of the stuff that
they're doing and the throws have been really on point.
They are executing at a very high level.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Julian saying is fourteen of fifteen through the air of
those first quarter one hundred and sixty nine yards or
two touchdowns.

Speaker 8 (48:46):
It's like Mike Bobo back in the old outbow.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
Oooh boy. They got better after that following year. This
kick from Fielding is popped up. Jacamelli will field at
the nine left side, across the fifteen, kate across the
twenty yard line and he'll push the stack up across
the twenty five and up to about the twenty seven
yard lines. Was interested in making a fair catch there.
They'll mark at the twenty six and that'll do it

Speaker 36 (51:17):
In between the first and second quarter, it's seventeen to nothing.
Ohio State number one ranked in the country over the
Batcher's a couple of big ten scores going on right now.
Michigan State leads at Indiana ten to seven. Indiana's third
ranked in the country, likely going to be number two
in the country if they win today. They're trailing right
now early second quarter ten to seven. Northwestern leads Purdue

(51:41):
thirteen to nothing. Last night it was Minnesota over Nebraska
twenty four to six. Nebraska, what's twenty fifth ranked in
the country, won't be when the polls come out next week. Also,
Michigan won the early game over Washington twenty four to
seven was the final in that one.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Matt, Yeah, you're taught about the Indiana in a position
to move up because Miami lost to Louisville last night
on the Hurricane's home field. They win for Jeff Brahm
and the Cardinals. Is Miami a program many people thought
could easily be ranked number one? But that argument has
thrown out the window for the time being.

Speaker 8 (52:18):
Yeah, in Indiana, you know, yeah, you just never know, right,
that's the beauty of this this game, and we saw
who would have thought that Minnesota would throt on Nebraska.
That's it. You just there's so many things that you
just week to week. That's why you keep hanging in,
keep competing. You don't know what's going to end up happening.

Speaker 2 (52:36):
Kirk Signetti got himself a nice pay bump. They said

They went ahead and took away any speculation that old

Speaker 8 (52:50):
So, yeah, I saw his career trajectory on a salary standpoint,
he has done a whale of a job from twenty
fifteen to now.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
Credit jump.

Speaker 8 (53:01):
He's definitely kept up with inflation.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
Yeah, he's won the lottery. E Gene Hilton out why
to the right for the twenty six yard line was
concent territory first and ten Dylan Jones in motion. Here's
a jet suite to the left with Jones getting wrapped
up behind the line of scrimmage and driven back inside
the twenty five yard line. The linebacker Rvel Reese just
not having it. And it's second down and long for
the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (53:22):
Well, they did a good job of keeping it inside
and there's just too much speed. Ohio State. We've seen
this before where there's jet sweeps and things have worked
earlier in the season. Ohio State has a different level
of lateral quickness and speed side to side, and it
showed up right there.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
Wass of a yard second down and eleven the Badgers
at their twenty five yard line. Two receivers left, one
on the right, shotgun stamp Hunter Simmons. Buck Guy's sending
for Simmons, throws to the right and that sales well
over Vinianthon drag down though Devin Sanchez the corner. And
the question is was that a catchable pass? I'll take
any bringing get right now if you're Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (54:00):
I was hoping we'd see that. I did not think
of what that ball really sailed over his head. I
wonder if they do now we'll take it s.

Speaker 2 (54:10):
The fall first down, so a first down for Wisconsin
as that was a I think a pretty good sell
from Vinnie Anthony there. There was some contact there, but
Vinnie then he went down and Sanchez, a gifted corner
started last week against Illinois, they could do a little

(54:33):
shuffling in their secondary for the thirty five of Wisconsin
first and ten. Now Simmons well handed to Dylan Jones
up the middle across the thirty five yard line or
wrapped up and taken to the ground at about the
thirty eight. Kayden Curry is there. Kayden McDonald was involved
as well, and his helmet popped off, so he'll have
to come out for one play. Second down and seven

(54:53):
for the Badgers at their thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (54:55):
They started Riley Maulman over on the right side. They
shifted him back over to the left side. Kayden McDonald.
Anytime the helmet comes off, all these d linemen are
always looking like an offensive lineman at his hand up
and his head. No flag, let's keep it rolling.

Speaker 2 (55:08):
They just complain all the time. Here's a play fake.
Hunter Simmons rolling to his right looking throws a dark
caught by Lance Mason across the forty yard line and
he is sent flying and it looks like he'll get
the first down. Davis and igbinos and it cuts him low,
but Lance Mason able to fly up to the forty
five yard line of wisconcert a first down for the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (55:28):
Great job by Mason there. He's kind of arm hand
fighting his guy to show a little run fake and
he gets thrown to the ground, but he has the
wherewithal to get back up, make the catch and go
pick up that first down. Good sell love for him
to keep his feet. It's easy for me up here
to tell him.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
To do that. Minute and a half gone by second quarter,
seventeen to nothing, Ohio State to kel Crowdis in receiving
formation receiving rotation. The handoff goes to Dylan Jones. As
Crowdeds was motioning left, they tried to run Jones to
his right. There was nowhere to run down. He goes
at the line of scrimmage second and ten for Wisconsin.
That it's forty five yard line.

Speaker 8 (56:02):
I saw it from up here. At Kadankar right guard.
He it looked like he's been battling at the right
shoulder injury, and it looked something happened early in that play.
A lot of penetration from Ohio State. That's where it
ended up doing a great job of getting back to
the line of scrimmage coverly in for him. At right guard.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
The former buck Eye Jaden Ballard comes out wide to
the left slot, left slot right. Dylan Jones wide right,
motions to the left. They'll take the jet suite. Simmons
looks to throw, he'll check it down to Jones and
he gets wrapped up right away by Sonny Styles. Jones
would look like he was going down anyway, and Styles
was there to make sure at the forty three yard line,
a loss of two for the Badgers in their own territory.

(56:40):
Second down and twelve, Yeah, I hope.

Speaker 8 (56:43):
Dylan's all right there. Something looked a little off on that.
There's all kinds of space and really good protection by Wisconsin,
and normally you'd see Dylan be able to get up there.
We hope he's all right.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
Well, big your pardon. Third down and twelve, I should
say here for Wisconsin from its own forty three yard line.
Three receivers to the right, Lance Mason out tied to
the left. Now Vinie Anthony in motion. They'll line up
wide to the left, Kid Jacamella, here's the running back.
Lit'll move it up front. Free play coming. Here's Hunter
Simmons to throw, winds it up, fires over the middle,
and a rolling catch made by Mason inside the thirty

(57:15):
five down to the thirty four of Ohio State. While
the Buck guys had jumped off side, Hunter Simmons out
of free play and throws a dark to his tight end.

Speaker 8 (57:27):
I don't know if that was Jackson, it was the
left defensive end jumped. Wisconsin does a great.

Speaker 11 (57:31):
Job eaches on that to snap. That penalty has declined.
The results of the play is a first down.

Speaker 8 (57:39):
Yeah, and I love that because it's one thing you
can jump and then they let you get back snap
the football and then go make a play. And Hunter
Simmons saw it, understood it took a shot, completed it.
Beautiful play, big chunk play for the first time.

Speaker 2 (57:53):
Yeah, it was a defensive end ken Yata Jackson and
now all the officials was a completed catch. That play
is under so they're going to take a look to
see whether Lance Mason in fact did secure it. Eleven
forty five left of the first half, seventeen to nothing,
Ohio State's leading Wisconsin, and Lance Mason secured it with

(58:14):
his knees went off, his hands went between his knees
and it was as he was rolling over. Was he
able to secure it without assistance from the turf? It
looks as though he did. But that's what they're going
to be eyeball in there as Mason, well, now it

(58:35):
did the ball did hit the turf, But now did
his knees did he they put the vice crimp on
the football using his knees. It's just been that kind
of Yeah, that kind of year, folks.

Speaker 8 (58:47):
I don't know, I know what the hands If your
hands give and it hits, and the does it move
if your knees squeeze it and then tip of the
ball moves, does that still count? We're gonna find out
right now after further review.

Speaker 11 (59:01):
The ruling on the field of the catches upheld boys Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Whatever it takes, whatever means necessary.

Speaker 8 (59:09):
I don't you got to make everything so hard you
get the free play and give him me the credit
there because he did make the catch, it would have
been a lot easier just to squeeze it. But let's
make it more difficult.

Speaker 2 (59:21):
Why not From the thirty three of Ohio State first
and ten for Wisconsin, you got Ballard, Keka Huna and
Vinning Anthony wide to the rights. Jacamelli is the running back.
Anthony goes in motion to the left on first and ten,
Simmons in the shotgun. You get the snap from Jake

(59:43):
Renfro back to throw Simmons looking pockets tied down, goes Simmons.
Harvil Reese the linebacker gitting free up the middle, and
that's a loss of seven yards second out in seventeen
for Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (59:55):
Good initial protection, Uh that it looked like Reese just
was kind of sitting. It wasn't a blitz. He was
just kind of sitting there, spying, looking to see what
the running back was going to be. Running back stayed
into block, and as the protection broke down, Abu Hunter
Simmons was going to go and there was nowhere to
move closed down on it quickly and we lost a.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Quick seven second out and seventeen from the Ohio State
forty yard line, Eugene Hilton wide to the right, Ran
Steck tied into the right side. Lance Mason on the
left snapped the Simmons hands off the Yachamelle and he
gets wrapped up right away by Caden McDonald, the three
hundred and twenty six pounds junior defensive tackle. It's third
and long. Let's get an update on Dylan Jones, who's

(01:00:32):
not been out there. Patrick, what do you have?

Speaker 9 (01:00:34):
Well, Kayi Jacamelli's a limping off the field as we speak,
and he's in there because Dylan Jones is on the
sidelines getting looked at by trainers right now. Keep in
mind their batterers are already down. Gary on Dupree, the
running back who didn't dress because of a lower bidery
injury from last week. So getting pretty thin in the backfield.
That means Gideon Atuca, the red shirt freshman, might be
pressed into some big duty today.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Yeah, he's out there right now. Is Atuka. Third down
seventeen Wisconsin at the Ohio State four yard line. Ballard
in motion, lines up wide to the left, penalty markers
fly a little movement up front. Ohio State was moving
and we'll see if that force Wisconsin. Maybe the Badgers
were induced here let's see, here's the call all.

Speaker 11 (01:01:16):
Starts offense number ten, five yard penalty, still third down, and.

Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Again maybe not so. Gideon Atukat guilty of that penalty,
so that'll make it third down in twenty two at
the Ohio State forty five yard line. Ten twelve left
to the first half, seventeen nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (01:01:34):
I saw our old offensive coordinator, one of the more
quotable coaches of all time, and Brad Childress last night,
and he would always tell us third and twenty plus.
We don't have a lot of plays in the playbook
for that one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
I have to check back how many Chilliism's he had
for you last night. Three receivers left, one on the
right and the two of the running back snapped the
Simmons penalty markers five free play again. Hunter spins off
to his left looking looking throw away and is incomplete
and he headed for Hilton Simmons rolling left and trying
to hit Hilton down the left sidelining, but osen on

(01:02:06):
the coverage. But that should be an off sides here
against Ohio State. Here comes the.

Speaker 11 (01:02:10):
Call offside defense number ninety seven, five yard penalty, still
third down.

Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
Ol Kenyatta Jackson he wants to get after the quarterback here.
He's had a couple of them in the last couple
of minutes.

Speaker 8 (01:02:23):
He's trying to make a little bit of cash today.
I think he's his guys all want to get sacks.
So when you get in a third and twenty, third
and seventeen, you get in these positions, you are chomping
to get off on that snapcom beating that offensive tackle
to his spot at that time. A couple of times now,
Wisconsin's gotten some free plays. A big play last time,
this time not so much.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Third and seventeen for the Ohio State forty yard line.
Anthony slot to the left, the twok of the running
back snapped the Simmons pressure coming up the middle, trying
to pick it up. Simmons gets hit as he tries
to throw it, and then see if that's a live ball.
They haven't blown it dead. It's scooped up by RVL
Reese thirty five to forty to the forty five yard
line of two bangs am out of bounds. You play
that through and then you'll look to replay to see

(01:03:05):
whether Simmons's hand was moving forward with control of the football.
It's on the field right now. A fumble and it
was Kenyatta Jackson forcing it. But I think that's gonna
be an incomplete pass.

Speaker 8 (01:03:19):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Time out on the field. Well, they're gonna probably we're
gonna go ahead and take a commercial break, and no
doubt they're gonna take a look at all of this.
We have nine minutes and forty three seconds left of
the first half. Will take a break. Ohio State seventeen,
Wisconsin nothing back in a moment. This is Badger football

After for the review, the quarterback had possession of the
football through the process.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Of the pass.

Speaker 11 (01:05:41):
It's an incomplete pass.

Speaker 7 (01:05:43):
So probably be placed back at the forty yard line,
or it'll be fourth down.

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Yes, I'll give Wisconsin a chance to punt because it
would be fourth and seventeen and Atticus Bertram's is now
in two punt. So it was Kenyada Jackson with the
pressure and force what was an incomplete pass. The officials
did what they're instructed to do. In an either or
play like that, you play it through and then you
let replay be your safety net. So we think from

(01:06:06):
an administrative standpoint, they handled it the way you're supposed
to and the Badgers after that overturn, we'll go ahead
and punch. With nine point forty three left in the
first half, seventeen nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (01:06:18):
At Kenyatta Jackson beat Riley Malman off of the edge
and was able to just get his hand up. And
I give Hunter Simmons a lot of credit there because
a lot of times Corey you just kind of play it.
You want to act like it wasn't. He sprinted to
go to try to make the tackle finish in that
play like you said, Matt, the refs did the right protocol.
Let it play out. Wisconsin's able to get the ball
back to punt it away.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
So Atticus bertrams for the first time today, will punch
on West has handled it, handled it in the first
quarter and the left footed bertrams with the kick away
end over end and as Will let it hit and
the Badgers, the gunners get down there and they touch
it up inside the five yard line. That was Vinnie
Anthony busting down there to keep it in play and

(01:06:59):
the team he's able to kill it. They'll market at
the three yard line in Ohio State territory with nine
thirty three left of the half.

Speaker 8 (01:07:06):
Well, you love that. I mentioned Darryl Peterson doing that
on special teams and now you're star wide receiver out
there on gunner going down making a play and trying
to put a house State pinned back at the three
yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
O good news. Patrick Kirby sent it to you. Christian Olegro,
who's like he's back out there as part of the
Badger's defense.

Speaker 9 (01:07:23):
So they took him into the locker room with an
arm injury, braced him up and he's back out there.
His left forearm is heavily braced, almost like a club
on it when he's out there playing in a linebacker.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
Also in that linebacking cords, the freshman Cooper Catalano shotgun
snapped Julian's saying, hands off, bo Jackson off the left side,
gets grapped by the hips spend Barton there on the stop.
Still a five yard run for bo Jackson to the
eight yard line of the Buckeyes. Shuck it down and
five nine to twenty left to the first half, seventeen
nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (01:07:52):
You know all Lego is going to do everything in
his power to get out there. I can assure you
when you're dealing with that stuff. I don't know if
that's a cast or a club or whatever he's got.
You know it's throbbing. But he is using that adrenaline
to say, I need to be out there with my guys,
trying to get out there and compete.

Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
CEEJ. Donaldson now at running back in a slot to
the right, snap to saying, stands at the goal line,
checks it down to the left. Donalds of the catch
up the side line of the far side across the
fifteen yard line, gets pumped out of bounds there and
at first down for Ohio State with a couple of
yards to spare. First example of the Buckeyes at their fifteen.

Speaker 8 (01:08:26):
Well, that was a great example there. We all have
seen Jeremiah Smith's explosiveness, you know, his hands, everything that
we've seen there. He did a fantastic job of blocking
and covering his man up and allowing Ohio State to
pick up that first down.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Cairo Skeins freshman corner working opposite of Ricardo Holman pistol formation.
James People's in a running back playfake saying, steps up
into the pocket, checks it down pass called by the
tight end Max Clayer across the twenty yard line and
he'll fight his way to the twenty two or twenty three.
Cooper Catalano on the tackle four Wisconsin, and then Claire

(01:09:02):
lost his hat, so he's gonna have to sit for
a play. Second down and two for the Buckeyes at
their twenty three yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:09:09):
Like the fourth or fifth helmet that's come off these guys, yeah,
chin straps, buckled, or whatever the case may be. But
they're all really nice job there. Gang tackling by Wisconsin.
They're a little bit better. We've seen a lot of
the checkdowns. There's been a lot of space. The guys
have been able to run and pick up first downs
that time a little bit better of chasing to the football.

Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Well the twenty three of Ohio State second down and
two seven fifty five left of the half, Miley Graham
slot to the lefts for Ohio State. People's the running
back lay fake Saying throws to the left and that's
ain'tcomplete intended for Jeremiah Smith. That may have been deflected
out of the hands of Saying the past falling short

(01:09:50):
at its third and two full the Buckeyes.

Speaker 8 (01:09:52):
I think Ben Barton got his hand up or Suggs
one of the two. The way Barton was running back
to the huddle throwing his hands up in the air,
I feel like he maybe he was able to tip
it a little bit. Yep, yeh think you're right tipped
it and does d line. I want to make sure
they know that you tip that football, making sure of it.
But that's what you do if you get stopped at
the line of scrimmage, get your hands up. Not given

(01:10:13):
clean alleys for the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
To make it. Throw A nice job by Ben Ohio
State two out of three on third down so far
today Donaldson the running back, the big freshman and saying
we'll feed it to him, and he gets stoned. And
that was Ben Barton down low leading the attack for Wisconsin,
loss of a yard of the twenty two of Ohio State.
And that's a pretty good work for the Wisconsin defense.

Speaker 8 (01:10:36):
Love it there from Barton, just not letting himself get
double team. He pushes through, beats his man across his
face and then is able to kind of from his knees,
almost get an arm wrapped up, and let the rest
of his crew come in great couple of great little
sequence there by. The young man from Stratford, Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Joel MacGuire, will punt for Ohio State. Jaden Ballard is
deep at the thirty six of Wisconsin and lightest scrimmage
the Ohio State twenty two. Snap back to McGuire, a
little pressure is on, the kick is away end over end.
Ballard signals for the fair catch and he'll gather at
the thirty six yard line in Wisconsin territory. So we'll
take a break after that forty two yard punt. Badger

I formation, Simmons under his center maybe checking off here.
Eugene Hilton ted left, Vinnie Anthony is out wide to
the right. Simmons hands it to Yakamelle up the left,
hash marks across the LINEUS scrimmage up to the thirty
eight yard line. Gain of a couple I mention Eugene Hilton.

(01:14:37):
We were visiting with Billy Edwards a couple of days ago,
and he suggested that you could see him more today
in the rotation, and that is in fact unfolding second
down and eight for the Badgers at their thirty eight
yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:14:50):
Now, Ohio State showed its speed there, especially in its
secondary kind of bringing guys down to the boxes. Actually
blocked up pretty well on the left side little cutback,
but he cut back two Ohio State defenders there in
the hole to stop him.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Shaden Ballard motions wide to the right, Hilton slot right
pistol formation as the handoff goes to Jacamell. He got
that handoff, by the way from Danny O'Neill and the
game it's a loss on the play to the thirty
eight yard line. So with O'Neill now in there at
quarterback for that play, now he comes out. Hunter Simmons
is back in. It's third down and eight four Wisconsin
at its own thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:15:24):
I saw there why Caleb downs. Their safety is so
highly regarded at the next level and obviously at the
collegiate level. He reads it and is able to just
completely come down the line and make a play.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
Two receivers tight rights at Hilton and Mason to the left, Jacamelli,
the running back five forty seven left in the half,
seventeen nothing Ohio State badgrews with a third and eight
at their own thirty eight yard line. Simmons back to throw, looks,
sets fires left seam and it's incomplete wanted. Mason downs
with step for step coverage and the Badgers again are

(01:15:54):
forced to punt.

Speaker 8 (01:15:56):
Yeah, good protection up front with you know, Wisconsin's then
a pretty good jother Yachamelli does a great job picking
up the blitzer and a lot of speed there again
down the middle of You're throwing that seam route to
your tight end and if he does catch it, he
was gonna get drilled by downs.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
So Sean West's back out there to punts. Bertram's handled
it the last time and did a great job of
penning Ohio State deep. Now they need a little more
thump here with the line of scrimmage the Badgers thirty
eight branded in his deep at the seventeen of Ohio
State snap, the West steps up, light pressure, kicks away,
and he hammers this. Well, this sails over in us

(01:16:33):
and this will hit into the end zone for the touchback. So,
ladies and gentleman for those who don't know you're a
Mekwan Homestead fan. You already know it. But Sean West
has a strong leg.

Speaker 8 (01:16:44):
Well, yeah, he bombed out and it's funny. The net
punt on the one he didn't bomb is still as
best of the day.

(01:18:41):
The buck guys getting the jump a Julian sayan thirty
three yard strike to Carnel Tait open the scoring. That
captain eighty nine yard drive and then off of a turnover,
the Badger defense kept Ohio State out of the en zone.
Jaden fielding pot through a thirty eight yard field goal,
and then another long time for the Buckeyes seventy yards

(01:19:01):
and once again it was saying to Tate, this time
from ten yards away. And that's where we are, seventeen
to to nothing, Ohio State leading Wisconsin, with the Buckeyes
back on offense, beginning at their twenty yard line, Mark
Tausher making his way down to the field. We've mentioned
at the top, it's a special weekend. Here is the
University of Wisconsin honors the rose Bolt championship teams of

(01:19:25):
nineteen ninety three, nineteen ninety eight, and nineteen ninety nine
at a just a terrific reception last night, and the
team will be recognized at halftime. Of course, Taush a
huge part of that in the ninety nine season when
he became the right tackle, and of course part of
that nineteen ninety eighteen as well. I believe Brooks Bollinger

(01:19:46):
is going to join us a little bit in the
second half, but still five thirty left in the first half,
Julian saying the quarterback, it's got people's the running back
to his left and the staff was saying play fake
Whibson over the middle. The catch across the twenty five
yard line up to the thirty and he is brought down,
chopped down by Rick card o'hollman. And that is exactly

(01:20:07):
a ten yard gain. Should be a first down. They
haven't signaled it yet. Now I believe they have first
and ten Ohio State. From the buck guys thirty and
the shotgun staff to Sam takes the hand off to
James Peoples. He'll throw it to the left, that's caught
by Smith again. Jamir Latimer will wrestle them out of
bounds at the thirty nine yard line of the far side.

(01:20:29):
Gain of nine second down and one for Ohio State.
You mentioned this first half is terrific as Jeremiah Smith is,
and there's no question if you focused too much on him,
and that gets Carnell Tate loose. And that was really
what happened a couple of weeks ago in Columbus when
the Gophers, naturally you're gonna focus so much attention on

(01:20:50):
Smith and then Tate went off with nine receptions. Tate
to the first half today with four catches eighty five yards,
two touchdown Smith with five catches good for forty four
from the thirty nine of Ohio State. Second one, Saying
takes the hand off the people's throws to the left,
Smith with catch number six and Cairo skeins wi Le
Escort Smith out of ounds at the forty seven yard
line of the far side. First and ten for Ohio State.

(01:21:12):
So a lot of short stuff. Saying continues to be
incredibly efficient here in this first half. Only a couple
of incompletions nineteen of twenty one for two hundred eleven
yards and the two touchdowns four oh eight left in
the first half, seventeen to nothing Ohio State first and
ten for the buck Eyes at their forty seven yard
line when see Porter is out wide to the left

(01:21:38):
and again taking the hand off is Saying throws to
the right this time and the catches made by Graham,
they'll give it to them. Latimer on the coverage Milon
Graham able to tight roll put another first down they
market at the forty three yard line of Wisconsin, and
the drive continues here for the buck Eyes, and the
incredible efficient play of Julian Sayan continues and now pre

(01:22:01):
snap movement here as penalty markers will fly. Jeff Servinski
the referee. Here's the call false start offense number one.

Speaker 5 (01:22:13):
It's five year penalty.

Speaker 8 (01:22:15):
First sound.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
That's Brandon Innis, the receiver. It will be the third
penalty against Ohio State. Twenty yards so far, beget first
and fifteen for the buck Eyes bought the Badger's forty
eight yard line with three forty one left in the
first half, saying, now, twenty of twenty two through the air,

(01:22:38):
and that's how they've gotten it done. Two hundred twenty
one yards compared to twenty two rushing yards. I just
haven't bothered with that so far. They're saying again, whips
it to the right, and that's called it the forty
yard line as you're thrown out of ounds by Cairo Skeines.
That's Quincy Porter, the freshman out of New Jersey and
just his second catch of this season for wine Day

(01:22:59):
and the offense supportinator Brian Hartline getting some more players
involved in the offense. Second down and seven for the
forty yard line of Wisconsin. They just keep cycling them
through with any number of positions, but including the receivers
room at Ohio State well documented the talent they have

(01:23:20):
had all those guys now shining in the NFL pistol formation.
Isaiah West is the running back and they'll give it
to him off the right side, has room inside the
thirty five inside the thirty and he plows his way
near the twenty five yard line. Well, he took on
Christian Allegro among others. Allegro with that club like look
there on the left hand, it was tough for him

(01:23:41):
to wrap up. And it's a first down of the
twenty six yard line of Wisconsin. West another one of
those freshmen running backs out of Philadelphia first and ten
Ohio State with two twenty five left in the hat's
Oio State, trying to get another long drive going. You
have Innocent Smith out to the left, two tight ends,

(01:24:01):
Claire to the left, willcas Merrick to the right. West
is the running back to the right of Julian saying.
Claire breaks out in motion to the left, saying back
to throw, steps up, whips it to the left. Claire
is there to make the catch and he gets thrown
out of bounds by the safety Matt Young to actually
progresses stopped inbounds and we'll get to the two minute timeout.
They'll place at the twenty five yard line of Wisconsin,

(01:24:23):
so at gain of one and we'll hold it here
as we are at the two minute timeout in Madison.
Listen to all things college sports, including live games and
talk on Sirius XM College Sports Radio Channel eighty four
and streaming on the Serious x M app. Seventeen to nothing,

(01:24:43):
Ohio State leads Wisconsin with two minutes left till halftime.
The Buck guys have two timeouts available, but they are
once again ripping it down the field and unfortunately, we
have another injury update. Maybe it's good news. Let's find
out together, Patrick, what do you have?

Speaker 9 (01:25:02):
I wish it were the EW Health Sports Medicine tent
is getting a workout today, unfortunately, and the latest is
Parker Peterson, defensive lineman, just went in there to get
a further evaluation. The defense is the one area that
Wisconsin maybe hasn't been hit by.

Speaker 7 (01:25:17):
As much as injury.

Speaker 9 (01:25:17):
So this is this is too bad, but this is
where developing the depth of defensive line should help, and
that was up priority the offseason. We've talked about it
a lot, getting bigger, getting deeper, allowing him to rotate
up to six or seven.

Speaker 7 (01:25:30):
I didn't mean that intentionally.

Speaker 9 (01:25:31):
Taush guys at the defensive line, and so that if
you have a Parker Peterson go down, you've got other
guys to rotate through there.

Speaker 7 (01:25:38):
But too much of a workout for that ew health tent.

Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
Yeah, no doubt, And that's just been an ongoing story
and it's really accelerating today. Before we move on, let's
pause ten seconds for station identification. Ten for an ID.
This is Patri football from lear Field. If you're just
check it in, you haven't heard Mark Tusher's voice for
the last couple of minutes. He's fine, just making his
way down on the field. Is his fellow teammates will

(01:26:02):
be recognized at halftime at Camp Randall the Rose Bowl
champions reunion. He tells us he behaved himself last night.
I'll go ahead and Jay, sure, sure you did things.
It was really interesting. We'll talk more about it in
the second half. How so many of those guys look great,
I mean, you know, talking thought about some guys were

(01:26:23):
thirty plus years ago part of the Rose Bowl champion
Chip teams, and so many of those coaches were back
in the touch bench of Brad Schilders, J P. John
Paleribo Jim Huber, so so many others.

Speaker 7 (01:26:38):
To layer into that too.

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Matt.

Speaker 9 (01:26:40):
At practice yesterday, we had a couple of the guys
come by, including Brooks Bollinger. He's the honoreary captain today
and you know a coach Pickle, got to come over
and spend a little time with him and kind of
connect eras in decades. And you know, there is a
there is a real brotherhood in this in this program
of past alumni that want to support And I'm looking
down here and Ron Daane is down here in the
bench right now hanging out, and you know he had

(01:27:02):
a little couple of words there that he was just
talking to Darien Dupree, who's out today. But there is
that lineage of former Badgers that want to help this
program and connect.

Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
Yeah, no doubt, very special place. James. People's the running
back second and nine at the Wisconsin twenty five yard
line corner, Blitz coming and saying pulls away from it,
rolling and left, throws it into traffic, gets caught by
Will kas Merrick who gets hit and dropped at the
twenty yard line, but saying, showing some mobility there and
a gain of five third down and four just inside

(01:27:31):
the twenty of Wisconsin with a minute forty left in
the first half. You have Brotherhood's a keyword that was
so evident last night at the reception. Those guys in
many cases maybe they hadn't seen each other in quite
a while, but it was like they picked up where
they left off as teammates. It was a ton of
fun to watch after the game. Third down in four
Ohio State at the Wisconsin twenty yard line. Nice player

(01:27:53):
of the tied end motions left in has sloped to
the right, Smith sloped to the left. CJ. Donaldson the
running back back to throw and for man rush saying,
ball's batter.

Speaker 4 (01:28:02):
In the air.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
It falls incomplete. Oh, the Badger is able to collapse
that pocket and get Prusser on the quarterback saying fortunate
that the ball fell harmlessly incomplete. Looked like Brandon Lane
getting in there for the Badgers. And with a minute
twelve left of the first half, a field goal coming up,
and that was Lane getting in there right in the

(01:28:23):
face of Julian saying, so Jaden feeling fielding, beggar pardoners
back out there. This will be a thirty eight yard
field goal. Try hit one from that distance. In the
first quarter a minute twelve left in the half, luck
guy's in command, there's no snap, placement is made, the
kick is away and it is no good, so the

(01:28:48):
Badgers keep him off the board with one oh seven
left in the first half. So a win for the
Wisconsin defense and the second miss this season from the
Ohio State kicker Jaden Fielding. So if you're wondering, the
Badgers have two timeouts available and you'll see how Luke

(01:29:09):
Fickel and offensive Jeff Grimes want to go about it.
A minute seven left and a half, it remains seventeen
to nothing Ohio State as the Badgers will take over
at their twenty yard line, Fielding missing to the rights,
and now here comes Hunter Simmons and the Wisconsin offense.

(01:29:32):
Aide Yakamelly lines up behind the Jackson Acre to the
right of the quarterback tretch Kekahuna slot left, Chris Brooks
wide lefts Badgers were showing heavy to the left and
now they go conventional mandel shifting left to right along
the offensive line. On first down, the hand off the
Yakamelly gets covered up by Taiwan malone gain of two

(01:29:55):
and the fans who wanted to see a little more
aggressive approach, not please. A timeout is taken with exactly
one minute left in the first half. Any timeout taken
by old by Ohio State. They were pointing there so
and that was the case. So one time out remaining
in the half for lyon day second down an eight

(01:30:18):
to four Wisconsin at its own twenty two yard line,
send it back downstairs to Patrick. I'll play the role
of Towsher here.

Speaker 9 (01:30:28):
When you see these two minute drives like this, he
talks about the importance of that first.

Speaker 7 (01:30:31):
Play, and it's a feeling out for both sides. Wisconsin
go's conservative.

Speaker 9 (01:30:35):
If they would have popped five six, gotten into second
and manageable, you might have seen Wisconsin go up tempo
or maybe use a timeout. Instead, they get down it
for two yard gain, Ohio State says, well, we can
get this ball back. Often you'll see a draw or
a screen here on a play like this, again feeling
it out. See if Wisconsin can get to a third
and manageable. If they don't, Ohio State's gonna use another

(01:30:55):
time out here and think we're gonna get the ball
back and try and score.

Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
Yeah, they will have a whole lot of time left,
But I think we've seen enough of that offense. They
don't need a whole lot of time. You got Brooks,
Anthony and Kekahuna trips to the left, Jacomelli the running back,
Kekahuna motions to the right. Here's the hand off the
Yacamelly running off the left side of the line across
the twenty five yard line to about the twenty seven
rvel Reese on the tackle, and we'll stop the clock

(01:31:19):
with fifty five seconds left in the half. As Ohio State,
we'll use its final time out all place at the
twenty six of Wisconsin. It's now third down and four,
so the Buck guys are out of timeouts. If the
Badgers can't convert on a run play that ends in bounds,

(01:31:40):
they could burn off most of the remaining time. Not
all of it, but most of it. We'll see how
they approach this on third and four at their own
twenty six. Hunter Simmons in his first half is five
out of eight for forty nine yards in an interception
off a deflected pass, and the Badgers today on third
down so far are one out of five sixty six

(01:32:02):
yards of offense for Wisconsin two hundred and seventy one
for Ohio States. So let's see what they roll with
fifty five seconds left of the break, seventeen to nothing
Ohio States. Benny Anthony's slot left tretch, Keeckohuna slot rights,

(01:32:24):
Yachamelly to the left of Hunter Simmons on third down,
Lance Mason in motion to the right man. They'll keep
it on the ground. Yakamelli trying to make something happen,
can't bump to the turf. Caleb Down's getting in there
at the twenty nine yard line. Black continues to run
forty five seconds left in the first half, game clock
at forty, play clock at thirty one. So if you're Wisconsin,

(01:32:47):
you could take it all the way down, maybe take
your too with one on the play clock, or take
the delay if you want to burn off that extra second.
Game clock sitting at twenty five o'clock at fifteen, So
there you go. They could snap it in right around
eleven seconds if that's what they want to do, and
if the Badgers are going to let the play clock

(01:33:10):
line down. Looked fickle standing by one of the officials.
Play clock is a two and one takes the time
out with ten seconds left in the half. So they'll
go ahead and punt with ten seconds left in the half,
so Ohio State might get a play depending on the
the result of this punt. Seventeen to to nothing, Ohio

(01:33:32):
State leading Wisconsert, all of the scoring coming in the
first quarter. Two touchdown passes from Julian Sayan to Carnell
Tait and in between a Jaden Fielding thirty eight yard
field goal, and all things considered, this Wisconsin defense is
doing everything it can on a day where the offense
again continues to struggle, but today it is facing a

(01:33:55):
defense that is as good as it gets in college football.
Sean West, who's hit a couple of rockets, could use
another one. Here mineus scrimmage. The twenty nine of Wisconsin
innis is deep. Now you see if Ohio State may
put on an all our rush, let's find out. Protector's
better be ready. Nick Levy handles the long snapping Sean West.

(01:34:23):
The red shirt freshman waits for it. Snap back the West.
The blush is on and the kick is away. Fair
catch signaled by Ennis, and he'll make it inside the
twenty yard line with four seconds left in the first half.
That was a fifty three yard punch. So Sean West
we mentioned all state puncher Aaron Wisconsin and getting his

(01:34:47):
first work and make and make it good of it
and making good of it.

Speaker 9 (01:34:51):
Patrick, what do you have just to give him even
more props on that heavy pressure? Wellhio State was trying
kind of in a last ditch here effort here in
the waning seconds to block that punt and get good
field position out of it.

Speaker 7 (01:35:02):
He had heavy pressures.

Speaker 9 (01:35:03):
You be able to stand in there and deliver that
bomb again, I think shows poised for a red cherd freshman.

Speaker 2 (01:35:08):
Yep, it does. Yeah, they went after it. So now
they'll go ahead and take a knee here it looks
like Ohio State from its eighteen yard line. Parson Hinsman
in the center snaps it back to saying, and that's
how the first half will end. So the buck guy's
doing their damage in the first quarter of play, a
stalemate in the second quarter, and we're at halftime at

(01:35:28):
Camp Randalls Stadium. Our score at the half Ohio State seventeen, Wisconsin.
Nothing coming up. Mike Keller has the halftime report presented
by American Family Insurance and sure carefully, dream fearlessly. This
is Badger football. From lear Field.

Camp Randall Stadium. At the break, it is seventeen nothing.
Ohio State Buckeyes raced out to a seventeen nothing lead
in the first quarter on an eighty nine yard drive
on nine plays six plays, twenty three yards and a
field goal after a Wisconsin interception turnover, and then Ohio

(01:38:40):
State went six plays and seventy yards for a touchdown,
scoring with four seconds left in the first quarter.

Speaker 36 (01:38:45):
Nobody scored in the second. The Badger's possessions in the
first half punt interception and then four more punts to
get you to the break, Julian saying for Ohio State
has been very impressive. Twenty three of twenty six, two
hundred and thirty five yards and a couple of touchdowns.

Speaker 20 (01:39:03):
And to further illustrate the statistical gap.

Speaker 2 (01:39:06):
In this game.

Speaker 36 (01:39:07):
Right now, Ohio State has two hundred and seventy yards
of total offense to Wisconsin sixty nine two thirty five
in the air to forty nine four Wisconsin and just
thirty five rushing yards for Ohio State but only twenty
four Wisconsin on sixteen attempts, just twenty yards rushing in
the first half, So at the break it is a

(01:39:28):
no contest game.

Speaker 20 (01:39:29):
So far seventeen nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 36 (01:39:32):
It is not the gap that it could have been,
certainly statistically, but the number one ranked team in the country.
Ohio State gives up just six point eight points per game,
and they have been.

Speaker 20 (01:39:43):
True to that in the first half.

Speaker 36 (01:47:25):
You two hundred and seventy yards to sixty nine yards of,
offense And julian, saying is everything that you could have
imagined twenty three of twenty, six two thirty, Five and
so are the receivers he throws, to which is just
kind of.

Speaker 52 (01:47:39):
Ridiculous there's a lot Of sunday players on that, sideline
especially the wide. Receivers Jeremiah smith's one of the best

Speaker 8 (01:47:52):
Long but seventeen.

Speaker 52 (01:47:54):
Nothing After mark And matt talked about ninety nine being
down seventeen nothing To Ohio, state your boy went back
and got. EDUCATED i learned about that team that went
on in score forty second. Points it was a very
very shu at the. Shoe, OH i went back and
watched all the. HIGHLIGHTS i don't know how you can
put together those kind of highlights for this. Runback but their,

(01:48:15):
start it started with physicality. There and, Today, mike as
much as the skill positions on the outside have done
a phenomenal, job saying has been able to be in
the pocket remarkably, comfortable and he's gotten to throw the ball.

Speaker 8 (01:48:30):
Across the field from far hash to far.

Speaker 52 (01:48:32):
Sideline they've gotten to do whatever they've wanted outside of
the red, zone where The badgers defenses has.

Speaker 36 (01:48:37):
Stiffened, yeah, well let's talk About wisconsin's. Offense, well when
we do, that we're talking About Ohio states. Defense this,
is by all statistical, measures the top defense in the.
Country they give up less than a touchdown and an
extra point per, game six point eight points per. Game
they give up. Nothing is there any? Daylight is there
something you see That wisconsin can find some? Offense, Well, MIKE.

Speaker 52 (01:48:59):
I think initially, no like as much as it sounds
like there's not a lot right, away but you have
to be able to manufacture some of. That and, AGAIN
i think that starts with being able to own your
one on one matchups and it's difficult up. Front there's
a lot of moving, parts a lot of. Injuries we've
talked about in a lot of. Youth but you got
to be able to win a couple of those one
on one matchups to Allow Dylan jones to not only

(01:49:21):
catch the ball in the outside in the, alleyway, yeah
but be able to get his ground and his foot
underneath him before he has a buckeye standing right in his.

Speaker 8 (01:49:30):
Face So i've asked.

Speaker 20 (01:49:31):
You this on other.

Speaker 36 (01:49:32):
OCCASIONS i don't know what the message can be at the.
HALF i, mean seventeen nothing doesn't look as bad as
what it could.

Speaker 20 (01:49:40):
Be that's a defeatist.

Speaker 36 (01:49:42):
MINDSET i don't know what do you think the message
might be as they come back out of that, tunnel.

Speaker 52 (01:49:46):
You, Know, MIKE i, think, sadly this might be the
most resigned the message has been to the. Result seventeen
nothing was not an unforeseen result at the end of
the first half, here but the process has been everything
as demoralizing as it could. Be you have been unable
to have four first, downs, RIGHT i, mean you have
four first, downs and in all, reality you've held the

(01:50:08):
ball just as much As Ohio state has in the
same time they put up over two hundred yards more
and ten more first. Downs you have to be able
to establish some. Rhythm but you've got a lot of
young players out, There. Mike this is one of the
best opportunities to get better and to put something on
tape that there's a lot OF nfl scouts in the
level just above us that they're watching everything going on,

(01:50:29):
here including how you.

Speaker 20 (01:50:31):
Finish, also running pretty deep into the running back.

Speaker 36 (01:50:33):
Room Kai yakamelli is your only healthy traditional running back right.
Now they might have to go deeper To Gideon aituca and.

Speaker 52 (01:50:40):
Others, yeah it's a tough scene right, There, mike but
we've talked about it a lot of different, times being
able to get opportunity as a young. Player there's no
better opportunity to play than against the number one team
in the, country and you're gonna see a lot of young.
Players you saw a very very youthful linebacking. CORPS i
assume you see a lot more of that into the second.

Speaker 20 (01:50:58):
Half all, Right, Billy i'll handle post game for you.

Speaker 9 (01:55:38):
Caught up with the coach fickle at. Halftime a couple
of notes from. Him defensively thought the guys settled in
a little bit, better found their foot in gut stops
on each of the last two. Drives that's Progress. Offensively
is there one thing that you want to see happen
this half was the question posed to, him and he,
said need to move people up front so in the,
offensively need to get, pushed need to get separation and

(01:55:58):
move the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 7 (01:55:59):
Over his message is consistent with what it's been all.

Speaker 9 (01:56:01):
Week Though wisconsin can't get seventeen points on the first,
play in, fact they're gonna be on defense to. Start
they have to take this play by play and forget
about the score and go piece by piece and try
to just win the next.

Speaker 2 (01:56:13):
Snap, yeah first order of business is to get your
kick cover unit organized and then see if you can
get a stop and get something a anything going. Here,
offensively it's a team that has just had an inability
to get explosive plays again this season today again at
the risk of going crazy with the, repetitiveness but The

(01:56:36):
Ohio states defense is the real. Deal and we've talked
about how a lot of folks think This Ohio state
team is better than last. YEAR i think the running
game isn't as. Good Traveon, Henderson Quinn Shawn. Jenkins, today
they haven't bothered with it in the first. Half we'll
see how they play it here in the second. Half

(01:56:57):

a couple of iced tea's and that's WHAT i.

Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
Heard yeahs' trip to the library and it was good. Good,
YEAH i. Understand we'll visit with dav. Here as we move,
Forward ohio state of first and ten at his own
twenty five yard, Lines julian saying at a Quarterback Bo
jackson is the running, Back Carneal tate slot to the,
right first down hand Offf jackson off the left, side
across at twenty five up to the thirty yard line
of MILLION e guard the. Corner we'll make the. Stuff

(01:57:52):
so You're california these, days, right.

Speaker 10 (01:57:54):
Yep, Yep i'm still about sixty miles south of The Rose,
ball so you, KNOW i can't get over.

Speaker 2 (01:57:59):
It it's a nice, place nipe place to. Be so
you and twas you guys have stayed in touch over the, years,
Right i'll really have to pick up on that second
down at, five saying quick shot right Side Jeremiah smith
the catch in to the thirty five yard. Line he,
goes that's what he needed for the first. Down Ricardo
hallman on the. Tackle so the stories you guys were
telling last, night what was the truth? Percentage how much

(01:58:22):
embellishment do you think was going?

Speaker 8 (01:58:23):
ON i would say the truth percentage is probably in
the low. Sixties you, Know and as this thing keeps spilling,
out you get to twenty five years and then, thirty you,
know it's like the old fishing. Tails you're gonna it's
just gonna continue to, grow and it'll probably if you
get to fifty to, fifty you feel.

Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
Pretty good about first and ten for the buck guys
at their own thirty five yard, line just, underway third,
quarter seventeen Nothing Ohio state say and play fake pressure By,
ryder steps, up dropped it, Off jackson catches forwenty forty
five yard line of Bo jackson brought to the ground
By Cooper. Catalano first and. Ten, well there was the
ninety eight ninety nine, season but a lot of that
was set up by money in nineteen ninety seven with

(01:58:59):
back to back game winning field goals here Against. INDIANA
a week later At, NORTHWESTERN i want to pick up
on that after this play first and ten for The
buckeyes at The wisconsin forty nine yard, line and he
talked about one of the all time clutch. Kickers he's
in the booth with us right now With Matt davenport
knee high shotgun, snaps saying under pressure gets away and

(01:59:22):
he'll stumble up to maybe a. Yard it looked Like
Mason reiger getting in there to. Disrupt but those back
to back field goals for the, win just you made
it seem like you've been doing your entire life no
pressure at.

Speaker 5 (01:59:34):
All, noah you know it's a lot of, pressure you.

Speaker 10 (01:59:36):
Know alvrez did a good job of us absorbing a
ton of pressure during, practice which made it easier in the,
game that's for.

Speaker 8 (01:59:43):
Sure And i'll say this that, year we all knew
it was going to be a little bit of a, struggle,
yeah because we had a whole new o line and
finding ways to win those games when you made those,
kicks to get that confidence to stay in it is huge.

Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
Year it was with second down to Nine Ohio state
at the forty eight Of, wisconsin sand under center takes a,
stamp hands it off the west to the young running
back and he gets stoned at the line of. Scrimmage
good work, Defensively Corey walker getting. Involved first hit though
from the Ground ohio Native Darryl. Peterson and it's third
down and nine here For Ohio.

Speaker 8 (02:00:15):
State and we've talked a lot About Darryl. Peterson and
what you love seeing is, that you, know in this run,
game continue to keep the gap integrity and you See
allegro with you, know basically playing with one, arm just
throwing his. Shoulder you see he is emptying the bucket
out here on.

Speaker 2 (02:00:29):
The field, today third down to Nine Ohio state at
The wisconsin forty eight yard, line twelve ten, left third,
quarter seventeen to. Nothing The Buckeys Brandon innis slot, Left
Jeremiah smith slot. Right donald's in the running back shuffles
in motion and left saying under pressure. Throw it was
pulled down By donaldson And Matt trainor will blast him
at the forty three yard. Line that'll be about four

(02:00:52):
yards short of the first. Down so we know it's
a struggle. Here we got a penalty marker here on the,
play so let's check the. Call orvinsky the.

Speaker 8 (02:01:01):
Referee, yeah either a little motion or a little illegal, formation.

Speaker 7 (02:01:05):
Illegal, formation five players in the.

Speaker 11 (02:01:07):
Backfield that penalty is, declined it's going to be fourth
down and they'll.

Speaker 2 (02:01:11):
Take the play if You're. Wisconsin SO i know it's
a struggle right. Now but do you keep close? Tabs
do you watch these guys when you can?

Speaker 22 (02:01:19):
Dead?

Speaker 10 (02:01:19):
Oh, YEAH i MEAN i think once you're a, badger
you're a badger, forever and so you, KNOW i have
a different perspective being In. California but it's it's awesome
And i'm happy to say we're winning the punting.

Speaker 5 (02:01:29):
GAME i, mean our punter's getting a, great a phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (02:01:31):
Jocket special rockets where you out of, that we'll pick
it up. Here it's like The Hio state's going to
keep the offense out. There four down and four at
The wisconsin forty three yard. Line donald's in the running,
back two receivers right and one on the, left saying
back to Throw fyres to the left at it is
pulled down By carnel take inside the twenty five yard.
Line Bustin brown on The Coverts tate again with those

(02:01:54):
excellent hands with the catch at the twenty four Of
wisconsin first and Ten Ohio state.

Speaker 8 (02:02:01):
And that is just so, Good, tate so smooth out
of the, route And Austin brown is there in. Coverage
you're asking your guy on a fourth and four to
make a perfect throw and a, catch And Ohio state
was up to the task there to do.

Speaker 2 (02:02:13):
It. Yes so the drive continues For Ohio. State eleven
thirteen left of the third, quarter seventeen nothing The, buckeyes
and the incredibly efficient day continues for Quarterback julian Saying
Boe jackson back in there at running back and saying
we'll take the. Handoff whips it to the left and
another catch By. Ted he's catching. Everything Familio agard on

(02:02:34):
the coverage Is tate goes out of bounds with the
seventeen to the far side on a gain of. Seven
it is second down and three For Ohio. State we're
visiting With Matt davenport on the great kickers In wisconsin football.
History will continue our conversation. Here Maybe Ohio state will
cooperate and make a. Mistake here's the handoff To Jackson

(02:02:54):
hill behind the line of scrimmage and then finally taken
down By christian And. Legro that's a big play for

Out AND i don't know who said, it maybe it
was As Jason eck was. There he, said it's not
going to come. OUT i wouldn't worry about. It, well
they used to put like a bulletin board at our
seminary and post the, articles and one of the coaches
put that, up AND i remember coming down for breakfast and,

five yard field goals from the middle and both, hashes
And i've never hit three better field goals in my,
life so it was pretty awesome.

Speaker 5 (02:14:42):
That then it stuck from. THERE i had to make.

Speaker 10 (02:14:43):
Someone in the real game, too but that's it was
me going out on a, limb but pretty.

Speaker 2 (02:14:48):
Innocent so after, that The Indiana northwestern game winners, like,
Yeah i've got a brassure like that first and tap
of the. Buck guys that their seventeen yard line is,
saying we'll hand it off To Bo jackson trying to
right side, again being banged around behind the line of
scrimmage and finally driven to the turf by the Safety Matt.
Young This wisconsin defense doing what it. Can that's a
loss of a yard second down at eleven for the Buck.

Speaker 8 (02:15:10):
Eyes, well they spilled tech And curtis spilled, it and
then you just what you're trying to do there is
just keep getting it to, bounce, bounce, bounce and then
have gang tackle mentality And wisconsin their. Effort You Matt
young just flying down, there getting him down after doing
everything right fundamentally, upfront.

Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
Shake it down at eleven for the Buck eyes at
their sixteen yard line of seven minutes left in the third,
quarter twenty to Nothing Ohio state in this sentake to
the right now in this will motion to the, left shotgun.
Stabbed Julian say And badger's sending for including the Safety
Emilio hegg guard who gets to the. Quarterback they're a
red shirt.

Speaker 5 (02:15:45):
Freshman out Of.

Speaker 2 (02:15:45):
Philadelphia Emiliole guard coming out the, corner spills The Ohio
state quarterback at the twelve yard, line.

Speaker 8 (02:15:51):
And Darryl peterson set that. Up But i'm beating his
man inside and you'd try to get him move. In
Give agard a ton of credit for coming from where
he did and getting him down on the ground and
setting up another long third. Down you can say a
lot of Stuff this defense is playing very hard and fundamentally.

Speaker 2 (02:16:09):
Sound this after, that that was a blow by His
aggar just wheeled around the running Back James people's third
down in Fifteen Ohio state from its own twelve saying
back to throw for. Man Wisconsin rush, saying with time,
right let's it roll and it's a pass complete. Too Jeremiah.
Smith the ball popped out right at the, stick which
is the twenty seven yard, line and still no signal

(02:16:34):
from the. Officials smith had. It it was probably. Loose
this is the thing that happens when you're. Struggling you
just don't get the, bounce and that is what happened.
Here smith had. It it looked Like Austin brown knocked it.
Out you Had posta there as, Well But Jeremiah smith
was able to. Recover and those are the kind of

(02:16:55):
things that happened when you're. Struggling the Way wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:16:58):
Is if you, Look austin does a great job of
getting that ball out and they're going to take a
look at. IT i don't know how he recovered. It
if he, did there's four red shirts around it.

Speaker 20 (02:17:08):
And only one.

Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
Great well see if they rule whether it was a.
Catch even, so it'd be a few things will take
a look at with five point thirty eight left in
the third, quarter twenty to Nothing Ohio. State, well it
certainly looked like a catch and name, yeah you're, right
that may be the main issue that which would affect

(02:17:30):
the spot here a little.

Speaker 8 (02:17:31):
BIT i don't know how he if THEY i don't
know if he did recover that fund obviously did they
called it that, Way but great hustle to the, football
and it looks like he did catch, it and it
does look like his knee is, down and then you
wonder if the spot if if that's, accurate and they
have the first, down but you get him in perfect,
position you're unable to get off the, field and then
when you do get the ball to hopefully pop, out

(02:17:53):
it still falls back Into Ohio state's.

Speaker 2 (02:17:55):
Hands we're taking a look at the television. Monitor the
first down markers are, unofficial but it looked like it
was about right where he needed to be to get
to get the first. Down as they continue to review.
It dad have always, thought when you guys get, together
there's the moments on the, field the game winning, kicks

(02:18:16):
but probably all the other, stuff all those memories to
have come back for you and everybody else this. Weekend.

Speaker 5 (02:18:21):
Yeah, well sometimes you get asked like do you miss?

Speaker 4 (02:18:24):
It you?

Speaker 5 (02:18:24):
Know AND i like to, SAY i don't miss the,
circus BUT i miss the. Clowns you, know.

Speaker 20 (02:18:30):
That's A chili.

Speaker 10 (02:18:30):
IS i feel, like you, Know chili may have to
trademark that before he uses, it but it's right out
of his. Playbook but, yeah, NO i honestly you missed
the locker, Room you missed the goofy, jokes all the
things that come with.

Speaker 5 (02:18:41):
That but it's man amazing. EXPERIENCE i was.

Speaker 2 (02:18:44):
Gonna ask you did Did chili breakout any chilisms last
night of your?

Speaker 8 (02:18:48):
Conversation chili's brother was with, him AND i got a
Little chili brother some. Anecdotes But chili has so many
quotes that we still go. To clowns are funny now
and all of the great things he's.

Speaker 11 (02:19:01):
Got here's the call Through the ruling on the field
has changed the runners knee was down with possession of
the football at the twenty six and a half yard,
line fourth down and a half yard at the twenty
six and a half and the offense stays out there
For Ohio. State that's how Confident Ryan day is they're
in their own territory, inside they're, thirty they're in control

(02:19:23):
of the.

Speaker 2 (02:19:23):
Game they're gonna go for it on fourth and a
half a.

Speaker 20 (02:19:26):
Yard, yeah that.

Speaker 8 (02:19:27):
Is you, know you wonder if they're GONNA a lot
of Times i'd be sitting up here, thinking, well they're
gonna run hard count and not do. It you feel
Like Ohio state feels like you just, Said, matt they're
gonna be able to get it done.

Speaker 2 (02:19:37):
Physically up, front, Right robbert's wanting to get the Fullback,
donaldson the two hundred thirty pound. Tailback let's see if
they run the play play clock is at twenty and
Now roberts will shift wing on the left, Side they'll
sneak for it and Saying i'll get it with a
little bit of room to. Spare so made that look relatively.

Speaker 8 (02:19:53):
Easy not even a toush, push, no just saying. Push
he just went and Said i'm gonna Say i'm gonna
go get. It and there's you're always looking for little
wedges and little gaps to figure out where your apex.
Is and it was over the right guard and he
didn't need, much didn't get, much but got enough to
get the first.

Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
Down you guys stay in touch on you, guys obviously
do you in tellig a lot of other. Teammates you
stay in touch not.

Speaker 5 (02:20:14):

Games oh. Yeah but the twenty eight yard, line first
Intent Ohio, State Bo jackson back at it running, backs,
saying reads, it keeps it and throws it. Wide a rare.
Incompletion it was intended For Carnell tate across the thirty
yard line of the far, side, saying now thirty of
thirty four through the air for three hundred nine yards

(02:20:38):
and two. Touchdowns pretty.

Speaker 8 (02:20:39):
GOOD i made A MIKE i already made One Mike

Speaker 2 (02:20:57):
Right So philliston, again well we'll get this play here
on the twenty eight yard line Of Ohio. State second
down and ten play fake saying pressure By ryger steps,
up checks it. Down jackson catches outside the numbers thirty
five to the forty and he is thrown down by
Tack At curtis at the forty three or forty four yard.
Line but they got their athleticism from, you.

Speaker 5 (02:21:17):

Speaker 2 (02:21:32):
Box on the forty four Of Ohio, state first and,
Ten jackson remains the running back and saying we'll feed
it to them up the, middle across the forty, five
across midfield Into wisconsin. Territory Austin brown on the tackle
at the forty nine Of. WISCONSIN a game of, seven
four minutes left to the third, quarter twenty each and.
Nothing Ohio.

Speaker 8 (02:21:52):
State the play right before you saw. Everything rayger beats his,
guy saying steps up in the, pocket another check, down
a lot of space.

Speaker 2 (02:22:00):
Shotguns stamp playing with tempo back to, throw saying winds
it up throws a deep right side a rainbow For Jeremiah.
Smith that is a deflected a way in complete and
that is excellent coverage From. Ricardo hollman a big moment for.
Him it's been a struggle of a season for. Him
at an interception last week and he's broken up a
couple of shot plays With Jeremiah. Smith the intended.

Speaker 8 (02:22:23):
Receiver Jeremiah smith, uses he kind of pulls and tugs On.
Rico that's a case where if you're a house, state
you'll take that all, day one on. One throw a
a fifty to fifty ball In. Rico what you love
seeing him. Today he's getting his head turned around and he's,
making you, know the receiver come back into, him kept his,
head no pass. Interference really well done By.

Speaker 2 (02:22:42):
Ricardo third down in Three Ohio state at The wisconsin
forty nine saying gets the, Snap badgers rush three quick
toss left side caught forty, five forty thirty five to
the thirty and out of hounds inside the thirty of
the far. Side who's the freshman? Receiver Quincy porter had
another third down conversion here For Ohio state with three
and a, half but it's left of the third, quarter
they'll mark at the twenty seven Of wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:23:04):
Just feels like. Waves you, think, okay we have to Stop, Smith,
oh we have to Stop.

Speaker 2 (02:23:09):
Tate.

Speaker 8 (02:23:09):
Oh at some point there's gonna be you, know you
can only put your thumb on the old spot so
many times before the water keeps. COMING a house state
just keeps plugging.

Speaker 2 (02:23:17):
Away barnel tad wide to the, left quarter to the,
right and they thinking the hand off the, left saying
it'll keep it twenty five to the twenty and he'll
dive to the turf inside the twenty yard. Line so
reading it and pulling it is the, Quarterback julian's. Saying
and they'll mark out a twenty yard line of a
game of seven.

Speaker 8 (02:23:38):
Dual threat there and you're saying is thirty two to thirty,
seven three hundred and forty seven. Yards, he's you, know
making the right reads that time, There wisconsin crashes down
to stop the. Run he pulls it and is able
to go pick up eight yards on first.

Speaker 2 (02:23:51):
Down you, know is Jay Oh west the running back
in the Pistol smith wide, Right tate slot, right saying
we'll feed. It The west has room up the middle
to the fifteenth move to the left inside the, ten
inside the five bell mark at the four yard, line
first and. Goal Ohio state.

Speaker 8 (02:24:08):
Had a nice job up. Front there just was way
too much in a good patient. Run and then when
he saw the hale go and get to that next,
Level wisconsin fortunate to get him. DOWN i thought he
was gonna end up scoring not a ton of, room
but enough to get through down to Where young And
Austin brown we are able to get him.

Speaker 2 (02:24:22):
Down so two o eight left in the third, quarter
first and, Goal Ohio state at the, four looking to
extend what is a twenty point. Lead right, Now west

Ten AND i Remember alvarez saying this team isn't good.
Enough that was the year before the next, year going
into our senior, year somebody shouted the same thing and he,
goes this team's good, enough and that was enough belief for.

Has, done double wide to the rights and sad we'll
hand it off To jackson up the left hash marks
and you'll get down to the forty six Of wisconsin

it's been tough with different. Quarterbacks if you're coaching this,
team what do you? Like what are the things that
you're trying to get done?

Speaker 24 (02:52:47):
WELL i think you try and find an, identity try
and find something you can lean on and hang your hat.
On and then from there you're just trying to find a,
spark Right LIKE i think where we're at last couple of,
weeks it's like you just need a. Spark somebody make a,
play maybe even off, schedule and you, know momentum is
a crazy.

Speaker 44 (02:53:07):

Speaker 2 (02:54:11):
Tell about getting the. Reps first down for the buck,
eyes they're going into their depth right, now but not a.
Quarterback is the handoff into the line inside the thirty
five down of the thirty yard line Goes Isaiah. West
the one thing that they do say About Ohio state
they have very, explosive home run hitting type of running

(02:54:32):
backs last, year and they're not sure necessarily Maybe Bo
jackson is that. Guy but you're really getting into nitpicking
mode when you start to get into. That as good
as they seem to be everywhere, else but that's what
you do when you that's what they did with, you,
Guys Brooks dave like ninety, nine you're rolling over. Everybody,
yeah but how it works? Right, yeah button, man you
learn all you, know bro the thirty yard. Line segon

(02:54:56):
down and forced saying back to, throw looking under some,

it right side end. Zone smith got his hands on,
it couldn't pull it. Down good. Work look at that
was a guard down there battling for, it and he
helps break up the.

Speaker 8 (02:55:12):
Pass love what saying did there to avoid that? Rush
roll out and then, again, man he just sees his
guys fifty to. Fifty he thinks that ratios even better than,
that throws it up And agard does a great job
of not getting there. Early didn't turn his, head but
what he did he watched his hands and when his
hands went, up he put his hand up and was

(02:55:33):
able to shovel that ball out of.

Speaker 2 (02:55:34):
There fun guy to talk. To Emilio waguard got A
PHILADELPHIA pa on third down and, four saying we'll check
it down To. James people's cutting leftus the first down
trip up inside the twenty five yard line to the twenty,
four a first down with a couple of yards to
spare with seven fifty five. Remaining you, know El.

Speaker 10 (02:55:53):
Masian's getting a lot of run. Today BUT i want to, say,
like he's an intense, guy right. YUP i think he
won a national championship THE lsu After. Wisconsin BUT i
remember him coming into a half game halftime in a
game and he, said you guys think you have it.

Speaker 5 (02:56:05):
Hard we used to scrimmage at.

Speaker 2 (02:56:07):
Halftime on first, down here's the hand Off Isaiah west
off the left hash marks inside the twenty yard line
down to the nine.

Speaker 8 (02:56:20):
To speaking of fake, news doesn't that go back to
the fifty that has you, know almost older than. Us
he's probably at that seventy percent bs right to thirty.
Percent i'm sure in ten years we'll be at the same.
Ratio AND i was impressed. THOUGH i, thought, man that's a,
tough tough guy right. There nobody can prove him.

Speaker 44 (02:56:37):
Wrong he's lived in fifty. CENTS i nobody really.

Speaker 2 (02:56:42):
Knows from the nineteen yard line Of, wisconsin second down
at five under seven minutes, Remaining Ohio state back on the,
move saying we'll feed at The west hutting off the

ONE i think he made my kids scared at the tailgate.

Speaker 2 (02:57:33):
From the thirteen yard line first to, ten the hand
off the west and he gets popped at the line of.

Speaker 10 (02:57:38):
Scrimmage you, know WHEN i first got To, wisconsin you
have to introduce, yourself go across the, stage and there
was Like Josh jakobowski And grebowski AND i was right
in the, middle and you announce your position, right AND i,
said Uh Mad davenport defensive, line AND i walked off
AND i got like three seconds of pause and then everybody,
laughed and Then palermo.

Speaker 5 (02:57:58):
Threw me up against a wall after the. Meeting is
THAT i wish you right?

Speaker 2 (02:58:02):
Way?

Speaker 5 (02:58:02):
Oh very, nice very, nice but as a wow.

Speaker 2 (02:58:06):
Called the thirteen Of wisconsin's second and tent saying the
throw rolls to his right cheeks in pursuit a throw
to the end, zone right, corner and that is caught
By Brandon ennis And Ohio state is in, again making
all the, throws all the, catches saying through it where
he needed to and has pulled it down right corner
of the end. Zone Matt young doing what he, could

(02:58:29):
But Ohio state's just too.

Speaker 8 (02:58:30):
GOOD i don't think he ca'd say it any. BETTER
i mean his, coverage he's, competing BUT i don't. Know
ball looks like it was a little jiggle on. That
we'll see if they're gonna review. It but put it
right Where ennis could get, it and again rolling off
to his. Right his receiving corps is really good in their.
Quarterback i'm a believer after watching.

Speaker 2 (02:58:49):
Today, yeah there is there is no. Doubt they can
nitpick all they want about what they're not great at or.

Speaker 8 (02:59:00):
Those are what we call champagne, problems.

Speaker 2 (02:59:02):
Right, uh huh, YEP d did what's that?

that was just like a caveat and like a fun.
Weekend but, unfortunately you, know this is one of those
that think you come into, it you think it's going

from the best of he said, it you, know coming

There Hile state to kick off, Again Jayden fielding said
to kick, Off julian's, saying just having one of those
dream games. Here he's gotten so. Bad our stat screen
has called. Out.

Speaker 8 (03:02:29):
Yeah actually it says the final up here good twenty.

Speaker 2 (03:02:31):
Seven, no let's call it gout that last? Touchdown did?
That Juan julian's saying is, like Showy otani good here?
Today he, says he's hitting on. Everything so here we.
Go fielding to kick, off and this will Again we'll
sail to the back of the end zone to touch
back With wisconsin started at it's twenty five yard. Line

(03:02:55):
it's one of the THINGS i was wondering about just
watching all of you guys last, night you, know visiting with.
Guys BUT i JUST i took a look around and
in today's, environment it is what it is at college,
football nil the, portal but you guys you know here
start to finish As Wisconsin, badgers and the word brotherhood
gets thrown around a, lot BUT i think it was
totally in effect last. NIGHT i don't, know ten fifteen,

(03:03:17):
years are you're going to be able to have reunions
like this like some guys at their third school for.
SCHOOL i, mean you could have made a lot of
money in your time and through nil and all, that
and then first down they do a little jet Sweep
Vinnie anthony across a thirty thirty five yard, line wrestled
out of the bunds by the Linebacker Peyton. Pierce but you,
guys it seems like you developed a bond that money can't.

(03:03:38):
Buy that is that? Fair fair To?

Speaker 24 (03:03:40):
SEY i think it's one of the fascinating things of
where we're sitting at in college, athletics right IS i,
mean we got so lucky to be together at such
a special time with what it meant to the, state
what have meant to the, school and have the right
guys in the right. Place it's different, now and what's
gonna look like in ten Years we don't. Know we

(03:04:02):
know it will never stay the. Same it's always going to.
Change you have to roll the. Punches BUT i do
think the programs and the teams that can create that,
environment even if guys are here for a year or,
two are going to be the ones that succeed over
the next you, know kind of this chapter of college football.

Speaker 2 (03:04:19):
To a strong run From gideon A tuca nine yard
game to the forty five Of, wisconsin the redshirt freshman
out Of, Gatrisburg. Maryland, yeah that's the. Trick you've got
the you, know the roster retention challenge with with. Nil
but then if you can keep guys together and still
bring in the guys either high school guys or through
the portal to understand what this place is all. About

(03:04:41):
it's easy to, say but that's the challenge that lies.
Ahead second out and oneful The badgers of their own
forty five yard. Line danny O'Neill continues in a quarterback
crowdess motions to the right hand off A tuc off
the left, side first down across the fifty to forty,
five stumbling inside the forty down of the thirty eight yard.
Line so getting Into, tuca getting an opportunity here and
trying to make something. Happen and the first down full

(03:05:03):
The badgers as they move Into Ohio state. Territory the
stop Was Leroy, roker red of the secondary.

Speaker 8 (03:05:09):
And you'd love to see. THAT i know it's you,
know this game has gotten away from The Wisconsin, badgers
but you want to continue to see that. Fight AND
i think it's important here to go try to get some.
Points you get shut out last, WEEK i think probably
in the grand scheme of, things nobody's all. That but
from a psyche, standpoint go down and find some.

Speaker 2 (03:05:26):
Points here's the hand off the, Kid yakamelly over the left,
side inside the thirty, five inside the thirty down league
twenty nine yard. Line yakamelly with a gain of nine.

Speaker 10 (03:05:37):
YARDS i think on the brotherhood comment too is it's it's,
like you, know brotherhood to me comes out of doing hard.

Speaker 5 (03:05:43):
Stuff.

Speaker 10 (03:05:43):
Yep and hard, stuff you, know is a great. Foundation
and so there's there is and Rock bottom is a great,
foundation you, know and SO i think there's a brotherhood
ahead of.

Speaker 8 (03:05:52):
Us just may take a.

Speaker 2 (03:05:54):
While i'm second. Down here's the hand off To yakamelly
and he'll get the first down out of the twenty.
Five oh the other thing that was impossible not to,
notice and this was with all the, coaches but you,
guys you made a. Point you, Know barry's sitting at
one of the one of the tables and everybody coming
up and you, know giving him a, hug and he
put into words what he means to you guys to this.

(03:06:14):
Day whoever wants to.

Speaker 8 (03:06:16):
Go, first, back go.

Speaker 10 (03:06:17):
AHEAD i JUST i, mean he's one of The Mount
rushmore leaders in my. LIFE i mean he just the
way he, led the, standard he, set what he drew
out of me THAT i didn't know was, There it's just.

Speaker 5 (03:06:27):
UNBELIEVABLE a first and.

Speaker 2 (03:06:29):
Tent for The badgers of The Ohio state twenty five
yard line to give goes To yakamelly off the left
side and he was wrapped up of the twenty three
a short game. There what about, You?

Speaker 24 (03:06:38):
Brooks, YEAH i always say, LIKE i don't, KNOW i
don't know how you measure, it BUT i know that
guy could put his arm.

Speaker 8 (03:06:44):
Around me and make me believe THAT i could do.

Speaker 24 (03:06:46):
Anything and he just had that special ability to make
people believe that that they could come together and accomplish.

As Ohio state quite simply took care of business here
today Defeating wisconsin thirty. Four AND i think got to
the point of the scat the status screen went. Blank
uh so final, Stats well we'll wait for that because
we don't have them on the stats. Screen IT i

(03:17:32):
guess it doesn't really matter for. Nothing it, was it,
was and it. Was we tried to lighten it up
here in the in the second. Half we kind of
knew the direction this game was was going to, take
and in fact it take and it. Was it's a
real kick to visit With Matt davenport and you really
one of the great clutch kickers we've ever seen here
And Brooks. Bollinger what you were saying at the beginning

(03:17:54):
About brooksy, Too taus is if you had to pick one,
quarterback that's the guy in the history of the. Program
and And i'm inclined to, AGREE i only go back
to nineteen eighty eight here obviously in the day there
Was Ron, vanderkellen and SO i can only go back
to WHAT i saw, directly and there were a lot
of really good quarterbacks. Here BUT i just think the
kind of, Guy i'll just from my outside you looking,

(03:18:16):
in the kind of guy you want representing your, team your,
school your, state your fan, base and an incredibly tough dude,
too and just the kind of guy that everybody rallied.
Around you lived. It i'm rambling you lived.

Speaker 8 (03:18:29):
IT i just and we go back to That Ohio
state game and we can relive that. Season and he
obviously played three more years AFTER i, left but to
come in AND i mean we were a veteran offensive
line and he was a, leader and he had taken
that and just was mobile and could throw the football
and ended up having a nice pro career. Too AND i,
know you, Know Russell wilson was here IN bev And

(03:18:52):
darryl obviously had a great career here, Too but just
from start to, Finish Brooks bollinger he was a winner
and he found whatever it took to find that to
get it.

Speaker 20 (03:19:02):
Done he found a way to do.

Speaker 2 (03:19:04):
It and the thing, too and it was noticeable last
night has been, noticeable you, know to me ever Since
i've been, here how emotionally invested the former players. Are
you want to see. Success and you, know the guys
That i've gotten to know who played here in the,
eighties the, seventies it's the same. Thing it's not Like

(03:19:24):
i've done my. Time i'm moving. On maybe, some BUT
i would a very very very low. Percentage these guys.
Care you guys cared at the time and you still do.

Speaker 8 (03:19:33):
Now and that's what makes this play. Special and obviously
we've hit some tough times and now is we have a,
loyal great fan, Base we have a great former player,
group and we all care a. Lot and you, know
unfortunately this thing is just kind of, unwinding and we
saw it last, week we saw it this. Week, Offensively

(03:19:55):
i'm not Even i'm glad the stat things, broke to
be honest with, You, yeah because it was ugly and
we just we don't have anything To brooks said this
in the. Broadcast we just don't have a ton to
hang our hat. On and when you don't have, that
it just makes it incredibly. Difficult and there's a lot
of reasons for. That you can go quarterback and go
young oh. Line but the bottom line is nobody. Cares
it does come down to going out and. Executing and

(03:20:17):
right now we're just we're just really struggling on offense
in a big.

Speaker 4 (03:20:21):

Too they have kind of figured things. Out they you,
know both defensive line, wise pro pro pro. RECEIVERS i
mean you just take a look at the red zone

It Ryan day has done a fantastic. Job and you

It they always have and they've utilized, it and they've
utilized it in a really strong, way and they just
completely outclassed us.

Speaker 2 (03:25:48):
Today there's no other way to put. It, yeah the
money alone doesn't guarantee. It we have seen that in
college Football. WISCONSIN i think it's also fair to say
has a lot of work to do in that, area
because it does not in terms of in THE revs.
Share they fully intend to use or spend what you're
allowed to and that's twenty and a half million, dollars
the majority of which goes to. Football but in today's

(03:26:11):
college athletics, landscape that's your, baseline that's like your, floor
and they're not where they want to be in terms
of nil unto that third. Party so you got to
you got to get. That but in the, meantime you
got to do the best you can with what you.
Have and that's the challenge that this current coaching staff.
Faces and for these, PLAYERS i, mean you said it

(03:26:33):
touch nobody, cares but it's at some, point you, know
those guys that they they kept a strong front this
week talking to a number of Guys i've visited With Daryl,
peterson carry kadonco and you know guys like that. There but,
man you talk about getting, tested this is this is?

Anthony Darryl, Peterson, rico guys that have been here For,
riley been here a long, time and there's been a
lot of. Change there's been a lot of, stuff and
then you, know this season is obviously not gone the
way that they have and there's a lot of character

(03:27:15):
that is built out of. That and for these you,
know those veteran, players they're still out there. COMPETING i
know it's not gone the way they. Want but all
you can keep doing is keep swinging and keep battling
until you don't battle.

there but zero. Points IT'S i, mean today's game is
just you, know there's no way you're going to be,
successful and so we got to we gotta find some.

Speaker 36 (03:31:58):
Ways one of them is how hard your guys. PLAY
a guy Like Christian allegro who is hurt and goes
back out. THERE i, mean you got guys that aren't gonna.

Speaker 65 (03:32:07):
Stop christian broke his, arm went, in GOT x, rays
they said he broke his. OWNER i don't know something
in his arm and cast it up and said we'll
let him see if he can. Play and he played
the rest of the first, half came, in casted it
up a little bit more and went out and played
the rest of the. Half you, know Guy Mason posta
went down and practice and they didn't let him practice

(03:32:27):
on On, wednesday and he didn't miss a beat and
filled in.

Speaker 4 (03:32:31):
There you.

Speaker 65 (03:32:32):
Know, SO i mean there's there's some guys You cooper kind,
out there's some guys, that, YEAH i mean that that
are what you want and.

Speaker 36 (03:32:40):
Need that just there's not enough of them yet offensively
you referred to it just not enough there with the
five punts in an interception in the first half and
just not able to keep your defense off the.

Speaker 65 (03:32:52):
Field, YEAH i, MEAN i mean it's like deja vous
with the with the second. SERIES i think it was
where he throw a ball and it's right in a guy's.
Handing you, know what do you say To, Hunter it's
hard to be, Aggressive it's hard to keep confidence when
when things like that, happen and they happen in games
and tips and overthrows are something we always talk, about
but it just seems to, be you, know happening to.

Speaker 6 (03:33:13):
Us and so that was one of those ones.

Speaker 65 (03:33:15):
WHERE i am proud of those guys that you know
that there was a look, that, oh you, know we've
seen this, before but they kept badly kept playing and you,
know in particular the defensive.

Speaker 36 (03:33:25):
Guys, yeah and after that, interception you kept them to
a field goal on that drive to that point that
your defense stood up on.

Speaker 20 (03:33:30):
That and we talk about your team and what you
guys are.

Speaker 36 (03:33:34):
Doing we all knew that's one hell of a team
on the other, sideline and they, were, WELL i mean it.

Speaker 6 (03:33:39):
Is that is probably as good as team As i've
seen That i've coached.

Speaker 65 (03:33:45):
Against AND i just mean in preparing just all the way,
around you, know from from defense and, offense.

Speaker 6 (03:33:52):
Skill, level talent, level and then the way they're.

Speaker 65 (03:33:54):
PLAYING i, MEAN i think that their ability, offensively you,
know to if they need to go in twelve and thirteen,
personnel but also you, know put those wide outs out
there and and, uh really take advantage of a lot
of different. Things AND i know going into it this
that was probably as good a team THAT i had
seen on film SINCE i can.

Speaker 36 (03:34:11):
Remember and then coach these a little bit of rinse and.
Repeat but how do you manage this now going on
the road To. Oregon that's what you've got to. Do
but you don't get to do anything else other than
go do.

Speaker 65 (03:34:22):
It, nope and we have to come back in here
tomorrow and find out who we got who's, available, uh
and go back to work and. PRACTICE i, mean it's you,
know it's going to be a different type of, game
but another team that's going to be incredibly talented with
skill levels that you know that that are you, know
unmatched across the.

Speaker 6 (03:34:38):
Board that we're going to have to do a really good.

Speaker 65 (03:34:41):
Job and you know there's things on both sides Of
paul THAT i mean that we need to do to get,
better you, know and and we're gonna have to find
a way to do it with some different guys because you,
know we lost a few more today that that'll make,
it you, know another challenge for.

Speaker 36 (03:34:55):
Us, luke thank, you back to, You, matt.

Speaker 2 (03:34:58):
All, Right Mike, luke thank you very. Much and that
real with other potential storylines swirling in the, chatter and
that's real, too we get. That but first order of
business for those guys is who's available to play and
that that is a real issue right now with this.

Speaker 8 (03:35:13):
Team you look at the running back spot and you,
know obviously a, legro he's going to be coming, down
he's probably gonna be probably in a lot of, pain
and trying to figure that part of it out, there
there's you just keep losing guys and the quarterback position
you don't have that kind of figured, out and it
makes it really. Tough And luke gets. IT i, mean

(03:35:34):
there's there's there's, reality and there's, excuses and there's them in.
Between and you, know, unfortunately y're we knew this schedule
is going to get, daunting and it is and it has,
been and we have not responded in the way THAT
i think everybody hoped we would be able. To and
the test now is going to be out there that.
Stadium that football. Team, uh they're not GONNA i promise you,

(03:35:58):
This they're not going to care who's out. There they're
going to go play as hard as they. Can wisconsin's
gonna have to piece things together and try to find
a way to go out there and be. Competitive and That.

Speaker 2 (03:36:05):
Oregon team playing right, now they're in the first quarter At.
Rutgers The ducks are driving and leading The Scarlet knights
seven to. Three Ohio state's a winner here, today thirty four.
Nothing we'll have more of our Local wisconsin forty others
postgame show coming up in a couple of. Minutes this
is Bad your football from liar field

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
