And Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Ryan Bex and our producer at our Learfield Studios at
Jefferson City, Missouri, Ian Parrin, the former Badgers defenseman and
assistant coach, my partner on Brian Posi Well. Last night
in the Big Ten opener here in this building, the
Badgers fell to the Buckeyes two to one in overtime. Hartland,
Wisconsin's Max Montes tied the game late in the first
period with a laser from the left circle, and then

(01:22):
he beat Tommy Scarfoni in overtime with just twelve seconds
left as the Buckeyes improved a two to zero to
one overall, the Badgers fell to one and two this season.
And Ian, We're only three games into a thirty four
game regular season, but the Badgers have scored only six
goals so far on one hundred and nineteen shots on goal.
Are you concerned about the ability to put the puck

(01:44):
away for the Cardlin White.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Damn straight, Yeah, I am concerned.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
I mean it's not like we're We're not going and saying, oh,
they only got fifteen shots, they only scored one goal.
We're talking every game thirty thirty five, forty and scoring
one goal, And yeah, that concerns me. I think that
percentage will go up as long as we increase the

(02:09):
production on the power play. That'll be the I think
the key to Wisconsin's success this year is if they
increase the production on the power play and get a
couple of those guys confident that they can shoot from
any place and score. That would be my impression of it.
But yeah, I'm concerned, even though it's only fourth game
of the season, I'm concerned that they don't have a.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Legitimate big time goal scorer.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
The Badgers went one for two on the power play
last night, actually had a five minute major called against
Thomas Wise and scored on its only shot during that
five minute span. The Badgers three for seventeen on the
man advantage so far this season. William Grandma, the softmore
from Stockholm, gets the start tonight opposite Christopher Everly for

(02:53):
Ohio State. Good news considering Logan Turnus, the senior for
the buck Eyes, has had was Cosin's number of late.
He's allowed three goals in his last three games of
the Coal Setter and beating the Badgers four straight times.
But Steve Rolick is going with every instead and again
William Gramma making just his second start in Big Ten competition.

(03:15):
Well here from head coach Mike Hasting. When we come
back the puck drops a little bit after six o'clock.
Glad you could join us. This is Badger hockey from

He thinks he's better than us. Derek Van Orden said,
I don't give up who you are. I'm a congressman
so it's no surprise Derek Van Orden supports letting health
insurance companies deny people coverage for pre existing conditions, that
Derek Van Orden wants to give massive text cuts to
corporations and the wealthy, Or that Derek Van Orden would

(03:47):
cut social Security and Medicare benefits, denying coverage for pre
existing conditions, tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, cuts
to Social Security and Medicare. Derek van ordon thinks he's
better than us, and Wisconsin families are paying the price.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
It's Game two of the first Big ten Hockey series
of the season. Wisconsin and Ohio State Buckeyes prevailed in
overtime last night two to one. Badger's coach Mike Castings
joined us here on the pregame show. And that was
Big ten hockey last night, wasn't it.

Speaker 14 (06:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (06:49):
You know what, It's always going to be close, bit
of a dog fight, and it was found a way
to get a lead. They get one late in the
first period. I thought we carried play the back half
of the second, had a couple of opportunities and over
time didn't finish and they found a way to get
it done.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
What changed from the first period of the second period.
He had five shots on goal in the first and boy,
then you really started kicking in indicators.

Speaker 15 (07:12):
I thought we started playing in our toes and premium
on physicality at getting there first, and their defenseman liked
to hop up into the play. And last night, I
thought it took us a little bit too long to
get into that and make sure that we're marking them
and getting a body on them. And then I thought
we started to possess bucks and we started to have

(07:33):
second and thirds. We had multiple good looks, you know, fits,
he had a couple. I thought we had a couple
of tu onoh's just got to find a way to finish.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
And get in front of the goaltender to take his
eyes away as key.

Speaker 15 (07:45):
Yeah, at this level, if they see it, they're going
to stop it, right, And so we addressed that a
little bit today, just on giving him an idea of
how many of the bucks that got to the net
he was able to see. And so that's that's been
a point of emphasis today in our meeting.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Nate Smith basketball Hall of Fame coach boll Ryan used
to say, when shots weren't falling, you can't yell shots
to go in right.

Speaker 16 (08:08):
Yeah, and you know what it's.

Speaker 15 (08:10):
We've talked about trying to lay brick by brick and
take a step every day, and you know, I just
we're there, We're just not you know, We've got to
find a way to either make a play or talk
one behind them and try and ride that momentum a
little bit more. You know, I think the guys gripped
the sticks a little bit last night. Relax, make a play.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
But the resumes of these young men show that they
can put the puck away. You've seen it before.

Speaker 15 (08:37):
Yeah, and you know, we make a play on the
power play and it's finlay to Moseley and Morrissey had
a little hand in that also. It was a bit
of a three on three and found a way to
make a play score a goal. And we just need
a little bit more depth scoring, right. We need it
to be sprinkled around a little bit. It seems like

(08:57):
the same suspects are doing the offense for us and
finishing for us, so we need to spread that around
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:04):

Wisconsin and Ohio state coming up.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
If you're coming out to the rink tonight, you can
walk around the rink the concourse of the Coal Center
and check out all the cool trophies that the Badgers
have won over the last fifty plus years or so.
My hastings with us Badgers trying to get us split.
We'll actually trying to get four out of six points
from Ohio State. You win tonight, you win a series.
If you do that every weekend, you're going to be

(11:40):
in really good shape.

Speaker 15 (11:41):
Yeah, we talk about that at the beginning of the year.
We've still got an opportunity to win the series. It's
paramount for us on a nightly basis to defend our
home ice and that's something that we've got to do
tonight to get those four points.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Tommy Scarfoni gave you a chance to win last night.
Good bounce back game from him and goals.

Speaker 16 (11:57):
Yeah, we needed that.

Speaker 15 (11:58):
He needed that. I think it played in new his
confidence a little bit. I think he feels better about
his performance even though he didn't get the W. And
you know, William Grammy is going to go tonight and
it's the batons in his hands right now.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
He played well in his first game last Saturday.

Speaker 15 (12:13):
Yep, he found a way to get it done. And
you know that's what we asked our whole tender to
do give us a chance to win a hockey game,
and Grammys needs to do that tonight.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
What improvement have you seen from William from his freshman
year where he only got to play a handful of
games to what you see.

Speaker 15 (12:27):
Right now, just a bit of a maturity from two
things won his ability to handle adversity. I think he's
almost a perfectionist when it comes to what he does
every day, and when something didn't go well for him,
he really stressed about it. And the second piece is
is he's remade his body, you know, from last year

(12:48):
to this year, this last summer, Tommy Ainkrott himself, you know, plan,
follow the plan, execute it. I think he's in the
best shape of his life. I think that allows him
to worry about other things. Because a nutrition was something
coming from junior hockey that he needed to get dialed
and he definitely did that. He's a specimen right now

(13:11):
and the kid that size it can do nothing but
help his mentality.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I will tell you from Stockholm, Sweden, a lot of
Swedish meatballs and cold cuts, so I'm sure he tried
to dial that out of his diet for sure. Virtually
the same lineup tonight, we're going to see Adam Piedla
in the lineup as the extra Ford. You know, he
showed in junior hockey he can put the puck away
and without Zach Schulz, who's out with an injury. I
thought Jack Falan showed pretty well in his big ten Dame.

Speaker 16 (13:36):
I did too.

Speaker 15 (13:37):
I thought Jack went in and he played some pretty
significant minutes for us, and after he settled down, I
think was after the second shift, he just he got
into his rhythm. We asked a lot of them last
night and asked him to play his offside as a freshman,
and that's something that he did last year and sous
falls he's comfortable with it. I thought he managed game one.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
That's head coach Mike Hastings. Wisconsin. Ohio State dropped the
puck a little bit after six o'clock. More of our
pregame show on the way.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
This is Badger Hockey from Miarfield.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Wisconsin and Ohio State Series finale tonight. You know Ian
the Buckeyes of one eleven of the last sixteen meetings
against the Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
And just talking with a couple of my friends last
night after the game, they said, well, if there's two
teams that play the same style and are only going
to win by one goal, come hell or high water,
it's going to be one of those these teams. Because
if anybody plays exactly the same type of style system
format as each other, it's Wisconsin and Ohio State. And

(17:51):
you know, every game that we've seen has been a
one goal game, or maybe an empty net goal game
or whatever. It is, but same principles pretty much all
of it, and the differences. Neither one of them has
a really gifted goal scorer. Yeah, that's the part that
gets me.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Wisconsin has Quinn Finley, who has two goals and four
points and three games, and Rylan Mosley, who has two
goals and three points in three games. Otherwise, the rest
of the skaters for the Badgers have combined for only
two goals, and the top goal scorer for Ohio State
is Heartland's Max Montez, who had two goals last night.
He has four goals in three games this season. Number sixteen.

(18:27):
He's listed as the fourth line center. He had over
sixty friends and family members here last night watching the Badgers. Yeah,
all bays of the game.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yep, walking around that was as large as I've seen
a mom and a dad with their chest.

Speaker 23 (18:43):
Puffed out like that's my boy.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, they were proud. They were proud Wisconsin and Ohio State.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten Tonight, Minnesota goes for a
sweep at Minnesota Duluth. The sixth ranked Gophers beat the
Bulldogs last night seven to three.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Matthew Wood had a goal and an assist.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Jimmy Clark three helpers for Minnesota, which is off to
a two and one start. Meanwhile, tenth rank Michigan shut
out thirteenth rank Saint Cloud State three to no thing.
They play again tonight in ann Arbor, and number eighteen
Notre Dame knocked off Alabama four to one, the Irish
three and Ozero and playing pretty well in Jeff Jackson's

(19:23):
last season as a collegiate head coach.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, I shouldn't say it surprises me, but then again,
I should never be surprised by anything that Jeff Jackson does.
And you know, every time when I saw that announcement,
I keep thinking of the coach of Virginia who just resigned,
Tony Bennett. Tony Bennett, and he said, you know, in
this day and age of the nil and the transfer

(19:48):
portal and everything, I just don't want to coach under
those circumstances.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
I wonder how long it'll take some of these older coaches.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
In Division one hockey to come with the same type
of mentality because he said there's no loyalty.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Anymore, and I agree wholeheartedly with him.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
It would be a real tough time for an old
guy like me to get back involved in coaching when
you have to worry about businesses and promotions and all
the rest of this kind of stuff. I'm sure that
Tony Bennett just wants to coach and that's all there
is to it. So, Yeah, it's going to be interesting
to see how the transfer portal in the NIA. What

(20:27):
we've seen, how the transfer portal is affected the programs.
But the nil stuff, the revenue sharings that is coming
to the big programs that get bigger and the smaller
ones disappear, don't know.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Steve Rolick fifty six years old, two time captain and
a nineteen ninety national champion with the Wisconsin Badgers, seeking
career win number two hundred at Ohio State tonight, facing

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Well, how about the top rank Wisconsin women's hockey team
opened a two game series at third ranked Minnesota last
night and shut out the Gophers five to nothing. And
today the Badgers fell behind three nothing at Ritter Arena
halfway through the hockey game when Layla Edwards scored a
power play goal to make it three to one. At

(23:28):
the end of two Lacy Eden scored a power play
goal a half minute into the third to cut the
deficit to one, and then freshman Hannah Halverson scored to
pull the Badgers even, and eventually co captain Casey O'Brien
scored the game winning goal with six minutes left. Caroline
Harvey had the primary assist on all four goals and

(23:49):
Avan McNaughton made twenty six saves. The Badgers come for
behind to beat Minnesota four to three to sweep the series.
Mark Johnson's club now eight to zero four and oh
in the WCCHA and home to play the Midgie State
next Thursday and Friday nights at Lebon Arena. Ironic, I
was listening to PB and Mark Greeney, Yeah Greeney, And.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
After the first goal it was the third goal at
Minnesota scored, and then the first and second goal that
the Badger had if I.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Could describe it.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Obviously the goaltenders aren't good at high shots, because Greenee
kept saying, well, I snuck another one right underneath the crossbar.
That one went off the crossbar, Da da da da da,
So got hired, go home? And the new mentality in
women talky.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
I guess always a treat listening to Paul Brown and
Mark Greenhol called the action in Madison on ten seventy
Wtso all right, let's get to the UW Health Injury report.
UW Health Sports Medicine treating the Badgers treating you. Wisconson
without sophomore defenseman Zach Schulz with an upper body injury,

(24:56):
he'll be out a while. Filling in for him last
night was freshman Jack Falin, the Detroit Red Wings draft
choice from Hinsdale, Illinois, and at six three, one eighty five,
it's hard not to see Falan.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
On the ice. He did pretty well, didn't he? Yeah,
he did, and you know, he didn't try to do
too much.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
That was the key for me is that he did
what he was capable of and didn't try and overextend
or do whatever just because it was his first shot
in the Big ten. He was as dependable and as
heads up as as as a good freshman.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Because should be.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
And that leads us to our quick trip lineups and
Falan paired with alternate captain fifty year defenseman Anthony Kerr,
Joe plata Chuck and junior Ben Dexheimer, and then Daniel
Latch will start tonight, the senior from Altoona, alongside freshman
Logan Henzler from Woodbury, Minnesota. The Badger's top line sophomore
Quinn Finley from Swamaco, Wisconsin. The right wing Ryland Moseley,

(25:51):
fifty year out of arm Pryor, Ontario, and in the
middle is freshman Gavin Morrissey from Rochester Hills, Michigan. Morrissey
has started his Wisconsin career with a three game point
scoring streak. Second line left to right from Coquitlam, British Columbia,
junior Christian Fitzgerald won assist in three games so far.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
But he was more active last night and physical too.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Yeah, he was, and I think that's the more representation
of that he was playing left wing than regular center
iceman that he's with now.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
The centerman on that second line is junior Tyson Dick
from Abbotsford, British Columbia, playing in his thirty third game
with the Badgers, still seeking his first goal as a Badger,
and from Maple Grove, Minnesota junior Kyle Kuchenan on the
right wing. The Anaheim Ducks draft choice from on the
third line, playing in his one hundred fortieth collegiate game
six years centerman Owen Lindmark from Naperville, still looking for

(26:43):
his first point this season, as is junior Jack Horbach
on his right and Codyleskowski on the left, the fifth
year forward from Camrose, Alberta. Fourteen goals for Rit last season,
only two shots on goals so far this year. The
fourth line centered by Owen Mellon, sophomore from Fort Erie.
He's six to about two hundred pounds. He played like

(27:04):
that last night. He was big and made an impact,
didn't he.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Yeah, he's he's just I mean, he's got to realize
what good positions to put himself in so he can
use that strength and size.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
On the left, it's Sawyer Shoalz speaking of strength and size,
six to ninety.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
He brought energy and beef to last night and still
looks like he's twelve years old, like he's the kid
on the candy box.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
And Simon Tassu, the top returning goal store for the Badgers.
Only three shots on goal micked that one shot on
goal in three games so far for Tassi, the junior
from Montreal. Extra skater tonight is freshman Adam Piedla from Heartland, Michigan.
As for Ohio, stating goal sophomore Christoker Everley six two hundred.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Eight pounds from Pinckney, Michigan.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
He's one to zero this season, but two to eight
goals against a nine to twenty nine save percentage. He
beat American International last Saturday five to two. Starting defenseman
Aden Hansen viewed Katta the transfer from r IT and
junior Damian Carfana from Woodridge, New Jersey, and the top
line for Steve Rolicks squad.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Gunner Wolf Fontaine, a Northeastern draft choice.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
He's on the left wing five ten one eighty the
centerman six four two hundred and fifteen pounds, Sophomore Wiley Thompson,
the former Seawolf from Anchorage, assisted on Max Montes game
winning goal last night, and junior Davis Burnside from Scottsdale,
Arizona the right wing for the buck Eyes who are
trying to start the Big ten season.

Speaker 3 (28:28):

The line's been the opening face off brought to you
by Odyssey Greek Yogurt. Start your day with thick, creamy
and all natural Greek yogurt with real flavorful fruit Odyssey
Greek Yogurt. Ohio State in scarlet and gray with white

(32:16):
numerals in the lettering will attack the gold to our
right and steal in front. And Riley Thompson shoots one
over the cage the puck bounces back behind the net
and then from the left wing Davis Burnside put it
on cage and William Gramma covering the far post able
to make this stop and cover.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Not a very good start for the Badgers.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
After the opening face off a bouncing puck that found
the stick of Riley Thompson, it was like.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
Two, I want to say, at least two bounce over
sticks and nobody taking the body and it's like, WHOA,
what just happened here?

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Organized confusion. Buckeyes have scored ten goals in three games
so far. Long range shot blocked and then ricochet at
Gramma and he paddled it aside to the far wall.
Ohio State in the attacking zone range rister by Hanson
do you katta? Redirected into the back of the net
by Riley Thompson and twenty one seconds in Ohio State

(33:10):
leads won nothing.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Yeah, you win the draw, you get the initial shot
and then as puck goes from D to D and
all three of the forwards were pretty much left untouched
in front, except for the Thompson situation where he maybe
had a stick on him, but it was just a
good low shot and a good low tip in.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Riley Thompson, the sophomore from Ottawa, had an assist on
the game winning goal last night. He scores his second
goal of the season twenty one seconds into period number
one and a bad start for the Badgers. Here at
the Cole Center Joe platachuck out with then dex Sheimer
right now Tyson Dick, Kyle Kuchenan and Christian Fitzgerald. Buckeyes

(33:53):
win the draw, dump it in a shop on the
left point by William Smith, sophomore from Toronto, block the
Badger's panic with a puck and is it in a
face off down to the Badgers zone. Just the second
career Big ten start for Stockholm, Sweden native William Gramma,
and his career record is three to zero to one
this season. This season one to ohero one to eighty

(34:15):
five goals against, eight eighty two save percentage top fifteen
of seventeen shots. Last Saturday and the Badgers three to
two overtime win against Lyndon Wood.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Not any problem on that goal by him, No, I
mean left out there to dry.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Badgers win the defensive zone, face off, get it into
the attacking zone, but flipped around the boards by Nathan mcbraer,
sophomore from Doublin, Ohio, behind the net, kuchan In can't
catch the bouncing puck. Hustling after it, Tyson Dick whips
a pass out to the left point, Deck Seimer right
back to Dick high slot fires a pass that handcuffs
Kyle Kuchenen and banks back behind the nets. Along the
right wing wall of the Ohio State zone. To our

(34:52):
left right in front of the student section, the Buckeyes
pick up the puck. Chris Romain from Boston, Massachusetts whips
it around the boards and all the way down. Wisconsin's
way in icing has been called on Ohio State. I
should mention so William Gramma. His first Big ten start
came against Penn State last December ninth, when he stopped
twenty five of twenty six shots and a four to

(35:13):
one win over the Nitney Lions. His only other Big
ten action came last January sixth in South Bend, where
he replaced Kyle McClellan and stopped all twenty three shots
he faced in thirty plus minutes. The Badgers beat the
Irish seven to four, and I think listening to the
coaches comments after that game. They said, you know, you
put him in. He's got nothing to lose and everything

(35:35):
to win, and he.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Did what he had to do. He won. Buckeyes played
the puck out at center.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Badgers steel Cody Leskowski backs off as the buck was
sliding his way. Joe Dunlap picked it up for the Buckeyes.
Dunlap a grad student from Wyndham, New Hampshire, right wing
on the second line with sophomore sentiment Sam Deck Hutt
and freshman James Hong from Irvine, California. Hong moves up
from the fourth line to the second line, left wing.
The former Madison Capitol and now the Badger's Anthony Ker

(36:03):
flips it out to center.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
In the Buckeyees control. Oh Ohio State came to play tonight.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Hung uh deservedly so seemed like every time with it
there was a shot on net or a controversial play.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
He was in the middle of it.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Dunlap just leveled Jack Falin and gave him a few
words as he went skating by, with Felan laying on
his backside, and you'll lotch back behind the net for
the Badger's alternate captain standing in surveying, Gordon and Powell
out now for Ohio State. Gordon the Ryan Gordon, the
sophomore from Stone Mountain, Georgia Badgers, get the puck through

(36:38):
center ice and flip it down towards the Ohio State cage,
and Everley, on his knees, reaches down with his left
glove hand and covers a face off coming up for
the Badgers. Third line for Ohio State again Gordon in
the middle, and then Jake Dunlap, the younger brother of
Joe from Wyndham, New Hampshire, a former Madison Capitol and
Jamesville Jet, playing the left wing and the right winger,

(36:58):
is last year's leading goals in the USHL. Noah Powell
six to two hundred and ten pound freshman from Chicago,
A fifth round draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers, Powell
scored forty five goals in seventy two games for debut
last year.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
Interesting, that's who I was talking to after the game
last night, and the mother said, you don't even know
what number he is. I went, yeah, he's a big boy.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Buck is free Tassy Knox Gordon off balance, Mellenbacher able
to nudge it out to center, but gathered in by
Hanson bukatta and he dumps it into the Wisconsin zone.
Grandma plays it far side. Hensler took a pretty good
hit from Gordon. Badgers played up to center, but Shol
can't catch and the Buckeyes habit lead feed pinching was Hensler.

(37:43):
He's fortunate he got a piece of that, allowing Simon
Tassy back into the Wisconsin zone to play it. Two
Buckeyes pressuring the Badgeries defenseman Daniel launch Boy. They're for
checking like the Dickens right now.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Yeah, there's not a lot of open time or space.
There's no question about that. Badgers.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
As soon as they get the puck, they're going to
get hit. And if they try and make a move,
they're gonna hit it again too.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Wahlberg, big defenseman from Stockholm up to center, batted back
into the offensive zone by Joe Pallata Chuck and now
Romaine will try to exit the zone again, but the
Badgers again force a turnover. Now Wisconsin's Moseley just got
hit from behind by Thompson, goes down hard. No penalty called,
and now a battle at center between Moseley and Thompson.

(38:25):
Puck loose to the Wisconsin blue line. Picked up by
Mosley three on two to our left, Morrissey finds an
open man Tex Shimmer shots.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
One clubs saved, made by every right down the gut.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Dex Sheimer tried to go glove side high and the
six foot four inch net minor for Ohio State made
the stop. One nothing Buckeye sixteen to twelve left of.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
The first period.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
I think the baseball terminology was kenniicorn. He just kind
of done, Okay, pop fly's done.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
It was pretty easy saved, but a well played offensive
rush by the Badgers. I'm not sure if dex Sheimer
would have been better advised to try and make a
little dip pass over to Finley, but back to the
matter being as he got the shot on net and
the faceoffs down low.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Dex Shimer twenty eight points is a sophomore last season,
still looking for his first point this season. Buckeyes eventually
win the puck in the defensive zone, chip it ahead
to Patrick Guzo, one of the co captains from Marysville, Michigan.
Big left hander, carried it behind the nets, slowed by Pilatta,
chuck puck free to the Badgers. Jack Horback gains the
red line got knocked off balanced by Smith, was able
to hold his skates as he dangled a little bit

(39:31):
on one. Looked like a flamingo out there. And now
a big hit by Adam Piedla on Max Montes and
they're gonna tell him in Las for at least two
minutes maybe more. Piedla lay in the lumber on Max Montes,
and Piedle is gonna get the gates at four seventeen
for interference two minute minor on Piedle and a power

(39:54):
play coming up for the Buckeyes, who already lead won nothing.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
It was excuse me, it was a good hit. I
mean it was a hard hit.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
The fact that he got his elbow or his hands
up high in the neck and face area that seems
to be something you just don't.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Allow or don't want to have to do. But yeah,
it was a solid hit.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
I'm glad they call it interference and not contact of
the head or any other five minute major that they
can make up.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Fans here don't like the call buckeye'es on the power
play oh for eight this season, oh for one. Last night,
left wing shot by Montes missed the net. Following up
Gunner will Fontaine low right, he pushed it wide. Fontaine's
got it again outside the right circle straight away. Hansen
view Ketta good stick by Jack HORBACKI freeze the bucking
chips of the head.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Glynn Mark can't catch up to it, though.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Montes has good speed and he gathers it in and
slowly skates back behind his own net. As the Buckeyes
get a partial change on this pedal he kill up
the middle is Hansen viewed Kata, two time All Conference
player in the Atlantic Hockey for Rochester Institute of Technology.
G Montez whips it around the left wing, too far

(41:02):
for Thompson, Badgers, picking up short handed. Leskoski and Morrisy.
Leskoski shoots one may have gone off Beverly's glove and
back behind the nuts. Codylyskoski best defensive forward in Atlantic
Hockey two years ago. With rit playing against his former
mates and Hansen Bukata Buckey's game. The zone power play
continues for another minutes. Out high Carfania shot blocked by Leskoski,

(41:27):
chipped ahead and Cody's got a chance with a breakaway.
Carfani is gonna catch up to him, though he's running
out of gas, tries to get a backhand er off,
he did not much on it. Easy pad saved made
by every and here comes Ohio State again. Hong right wing,
Brent Johnson, former North Dakota fighting Hawk. Johnson wild passed
through the slot, picked off by Wisconsin's Lindmark, who gave
it away at centa to Carfagnya, and then he got

(41:50):
knocked off balance. Loose puck thrown around a little bit
by both squads, and here's Hong now flips a pass
left wing to the right handed. Dunlap tries to go
around behind his back and Anthony Ker beautifully couldn't clear
though good hustle by Carfania to hold his zone and
then muff by Hong cleared by care. Badgers have fifteen
seconds left to kill off on Piedle as two minute

(42:10):
minor for interference.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
Yeah, they haven't allowed Ohio State into the zone to
set up by any stretch of the imagination. And actually
better shots on net by Bucky than Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Ryan Gordon good poke shack by Fitzgerald against the rush.
The Badgers kill off Piedle is pedally and he comes
out of the box and gathers it in it sent
her eyes through a pass behind the intended receiver Fitzgerald,
but picked up by Pallada Chuck. He flips it into
the offensive zone. One shot on goal of piece, but
the Buckeye scored on there is leading one to nothing,
thirteen to twenty five remaining in period number one. Good

(42:44):
play by Jake dunlab to elude a Badger checker and
then hit along the Badger's bench. And then Ryan Gordon,
who got hit and knocked down, didn't get a pedally
called against Wisconsin, just cross check Dick and now Kuchindon
rises a shot over the right shoulder of ever Well.
He hit the glass behind the net. Ohio State plays
and a power play coming up for Wisconsin. Gordon was

(43:07):
the second man in that fray, The first one oftentimes
doesn't get caught. Gordon then took exception to the hit
that he received and crosschecked Dick in the back and
Wisconsin gets the cutest power play.

Speaker 4 (43:19):
Yeah it was again after the fact, you just you know,
there's no reason to do that. As a coach, you
keep telling your players the play's gone away, the puck
is in a different zone. Nothing you have to worry
about the other guy missed his check and instead you
lay the lumber to his back when he's only two
feet from the boards.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
What do you expect you're gonna get?

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Wisconsin three for seventeen so far on the power play,
gets two minutes sub man advantage hockey, but Ohio State
wins the face off and clears it all the way down. Dexheimer, Finley, Morrissey,
Kuchenen and Moseley on the ice for the Cardlin white
dex Sheimer dropped pass up the middle. Here comes Morrissey
with speed across the line, left wing pass kicked to

(44:01):
the forehand. Finley puts one in front for Kuchenin or
Morrissey didn't connect, and then Moseley keeps it alive. Here's
Dexzheimer fire's one wide glove side on Everley, chopped at
behind the net. Hansoonbuke Katta double team by Wisconsin's Finley
and Kukanin. Finley whips it out right point dex Sheimer,
left side, Morrissey straightaway, dex Shimer looking right wing, shot
by Finley, blocked by Carfania, back out to Dexzheimer badger's hole.

(44:25):
Morrissey to the left, dot looking cross ice. Nothing there,
good sticks by the Buckeyes. Mosley try to go glove
side and just pushed it wide off the glass far
side and out through center.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
From our vantage point, it was a perfect perspective of
he had about two feet to shoot at and I
think it may have gotten tipped, but it went high
and wide.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
One minute left on the Badger's power play. Trying to
pull even here, about eight minutes gone by in the
opening period. Smith nudged it along far side. Fitzgerald helps
it out to the point. Man in Hensler back pedaling
left wing. Is Liskowski now skates to the goal line
and stops, throws it back out to the point. Now
Hensler right wing. Fitzgerald catches and surveys. Fitzgerald back to Hensler.

(45:05):
He'll step in, looks for a shooting ang'll finds one
block shot.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Fitzgerald's bin low right that I'd buy.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
Every Christian battling far side getting support now from Lacosliskoski,
his Cosky jams at free to Tassi out to the
blue line. Hensler steps in, shoots one that ricocheted off
of Tassy into the belly of Everly, and he hangs on.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
I like Hensler's choice. He takes the shot.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
Yes, there was Tyson Dick was open on the fire side,
but not open enough to be a good shot. And
I like Hensler's shot because the other two forwards were
all coming out of the corner as hard as they
could go, and they had Ohio State people behind them,
so if there was going to be a rebound, it
was going to end up on bucky stick.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Twenty three seconds left in the two minute minor against
Ryan Gordon, Morrissey out there Dexheimer, Moseley, Finley, and Kuchenen
Morrisey to take the draw against Patrick Guzzo. They're tied
up in a circle and Dunlap comes to get it
and he'll flip it past deck.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Seimer tries to beat him in a foot race.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
The puck goes to the side of the cage and
Gramma flips it far side for Deckzheimer angles a pass
left wing to Kukonen, taps back and tended for Morrissey,
intercepted by McBrayer.

Speaker 3 (46:14):
Bouncing puck in the slot. Now Ohio States.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Kuzo able to release it to Dunlap and then he
turns and fires it down and that'll do it. For
Ohio States penalty. Both teams oh for one on the
power play. Buckeyes lead one nothing, eleven minutes remaining in
the opening period.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
Since that first two or three shifts, things have gotten
a little more balanced as to offensive attack and defensive coverage.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
Sawyer's shoal from the red line will dump it in.
Mellenbacher out there too. Here's Jack horback now should try
to force a turnover behind the net, whipped around to
the point, launched lofts a shot that goes over everybody
to the end boards. Anthony Kara pitching in. He's bouncing
off of Buckeyes left and right. Buck batted behind the
net to the New York corner. Now Burnside reverses farside McBrayer.

(47:00):
He'll scoop it out to center and Thompson kicks it
to his stick. The left hander then carries one of
the Badgers into the board's care. It's Hong who flipped
it back for Thompson, but he had fallen down and
the Badgers now have it across the line. Three on
three shoal forced wide, Horbock trailing blade it to the corner.
Now it spins to the far corner right side it's

(47:22):
Deck Czeimer braces for a hit, flipped it back behind
the net. The Badgers horback, hitting the defenseman Romaine, but
the Buckeyes come out of their own end left wing
across the line, It's Gordon slowed and knocked down by Deckzheimer.
Now burnside with a hit to the back on Joe Polatachuck.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
We play on.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
Joe maintains his balance, rolls it along for Tassi in
front of the bench's far side. Tassy turns on the jets.
He'll fire one and he lasered it over the top
of the cage out to center ice.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
Could have decapitated somebody there.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
Adam Piedla back out for the Badgers. Right now, up
to center, Tassi try to split a pair of Buckeyes's
no luck. Ohio State's Powell whips have passed. A Hong
wasn't ready for it and the Badgers Henzler goes to
get it d Tod to lotch up the middle of
the ice. Now here's Lynn Mark pressured by Hanson, but
Kata puck de flex down to the Ohio State zone.

(48:15):
Hanson Bukata rolls it far side after it is Carfania
outlet passed the Montes to the tape of Guzo, who
fans off to his right across the Badger line. Hard
charge to that at backhand shot, stopped by Grandma. Back
behind the net. Guzo with another bit and another try
and tight good stop by Grandma. Ohio State point pass
for Smith or Beggar pardon. Wahlberg couldn't handle it and

(48:37):
the Buckeyes have to touch up one nothing Ohio State
eight forty four remaining in the first Here's Fitzgerald giving
Chase he'll get to it, icing waved off back in
the Ohio State zone. Fitzgerald, looking for some help, got
it off to Liskowski out to the point. Falan pushed
a shot towards Dick. He tried to deflect it, may
have gotten a piece of it, but it went behind
the cage.

Speaker 23 (48:57):
Out.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
Fitzgerald threw one at the net, every closing on the
near side post on his knees, made the stop and
covered and a stoppage in play. Good pace to this game,
but the Buckeyes with a one nothing lead early on
the Wisconsin Badgers. Minard's a proud sponsor of Badger athletics

(50:15):
ears already. Core's Light. Choose chill, Celebrate responsibly. Twenty twenty four.
Cors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
Riley Thompson's deflection of handsome Vieucatta's point shot twenty one
seconds in has Ohio State on top one nothing. There's
eight twenty five to play here. In the first Badgers
win the offensive zone face off point pass to Palada Chuck.
He was immediately pressured and the Buckeyes take the puck away.
Montes tried to work around deck Sheimer, now get support
from Palada Chuck and the puck batted up over the

(50:53):
glass and out of play. One nothing, Ohio State three
to two shots on goal in favor of the Buckeyes. Hey,
a good crowd here tonight. They opened the upper deck.
You know, last season, Wisconsin average just over ten thousand
fans per game, second best in the country behind North Dakota,
and we had over nine thousand last night. Ten thousand
plus here tonight. Badger fans coming back. It's fun.

Speaker 23 (51:14):
Yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (51:15):
I mean, it puts it a little excitement in the building,
and I think the players and the coaching staff feed
off of that excitement. The thing that impresses me the
most is I see so many more young kids.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
Here steal dunlap with it. He shoots one good block
by deck Zeimer. Fuck drop right in front of him,
and he carries it out of the zone and then
flips it into the left corner of the Buckeyes zone.
Finley gives Chase morrisying, I'm a for check too able
to jam it away from Dunlap for a moment. Now
the buck guys find themselves with it and outlet to
center Ice and Dunlap. He'll scoop it in and the

(51:45):
Badgers will get there first. Yeah, a lot more kids,
that's fun to see.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
Yeah, it is like the other night when we had
a group of five or six, all wearing their team jerseys,
all excited to be here.

Speaker 3 (51:56):
I was impressed.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
Ohio states with the puck in its own zone. Here
comes Guzo weaves away from Cookon and off to his right,
passed to the wing, intended for Powell, intercepted by Tyson Dick.
An aerial feed to Kokan and who got spun around
with a nice stick, but nothing called of Skate Mellon. Yep,
here's Fitzgerald now passed the middle, intercepted by Powell, taken

(52:22):
back by Lotch. Lotch then gives it away to Powell,
and then Lodge takes it from Powell. I don't know,
there's something. It's like there's flubber on the puck. Tyson
Dick topole shot partially blocked by McBrayer to the far side,
lotch deep in the offensive zone over skates and Gordon
takes it away. You know, last night the Badgers took
an early lead, and Ohio State tied it late in

(52:45):
the first, and then Wisconsin really dominated for two periods.
Heres cooking and meaning right in the slot and his
shot hit the glove of Everly, who made the stop
and hung on for a face off.

Speaker 4 (52:55):
Nice play once he got the puck, and he beat
that one defenseman when he went backhand too forehand didn't
have much to shoot at.

Speaker 3 (53:02):
Knew he had to go high.

Speaker 4 (53:03):
The goaltender very wisely came out and played the angle significantly.
But why hit There wasn't a penalty called earlier.

Speaker 3 (53:10):
On because Kukanan just got railed.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
Kyle Kuchanan thirteen shots on goal coming into tonight. He
had five last night, CCHA Rookie of the Year a
couple of years ago, and a rister by Sawyer Shoal
after a face off win by Mellenbacher off the webbing
of Everly's glove.

Speaker 3 (53:29):
And wide.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Piedela tries to keep it alive in the attacking zone.
It's down below the goal line.

Speaker 33 (53:37):
Now.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
Johnson reverses to Smith for the Buckeyes, who lops it
out to center. Nope, went off of Ohio State and
into the Buckeyes bench and a face off to come
in the OSU zone. Kuchanan eighteen goals as a freshman
at Michigan Tech a couple of years ago, than just
one goal. Last year, he played only twenty seven games.
He had an ankle injury that really slowed his play,

(54:01):
but former Madison Capital wanted to come to Wisconsin. Came
with his Michigan Tech teammate Ryland Mosley and the Badger
coaching staff, believing that Kukanan will light the lamp quite
often this season.

Speaker 3 (54:13):
Mosley already has two goals in three games. He's like
a mosquito. You know what bothers you, Yeah, on a
regular basis.

Speaker 2 (54:22):
On tes slow moving pass up to center and Johnson
fends off the stick check from Leskowsky and dumps it in.
But Wisconsin's Dexheimer goes to get it, bumps it off
the nd boards for Lynn Mark and he throws it
off the wall far side out to neutral ice. Nathan Lewis,
freshman from Shorewood, Illinois, pressured by Horback now Polata chuck,
but the six foot six inch Lewis dumps it in.

(54:44):
Dexheimer there first for the Badgers. Pallada Chuck patient d
to d below the goal line to dex Sheimer, pressured
by Lewis, who backs off. Needs a change and Dexheimer
has some ice to work with up to neutrack oh
and Lindmark couldn't catch the pass, directs it to the
far corner. Leskowski, with it defended by Carfani along the
wall out of the blue line. Moseley whips a past
nice catch backhand. Falan shoots one right into the midsection

(55:07):
of the kneeling Everly, who makes the stop and hangs
on one nothing Ohio State five and a half minutes
left in.

Speaker 4 (55:13):
The first and again not to be critical, but Jack Phalan,
the young freshman boy, he was surprised that he got
that buck because Moseley sent it from one side of
the ice to the other. But if Jack Phalen's got
a chance to walk in like that, realize where the
goaltender is. He was way out front instead of trying
to shoot it at him, shoot it at his pads,
get a deflection, or get some sort of a rebound,

(55:37):
because right now the Badgers have just been shooting at
the guy's glove.

Speaker 3 (55:40):
Yeah, the glove or the belly.

Speaker 28 (55:42):
Right.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Falan won goal in forty one games at Sue Falls
a year ago. Team captain Morrissey, after the face off
win keeps it alive with the help of Moseley, sweeps
it all the way to the right corner in Finley
looks left, looks right, cuts back left to the corner,
now cuts back right to the point. Man care stutter
step his shot blocked, but ker gets it back. Walking

(56:03):
down the wall, back behind the net. Anthony Kerr bangs
it to the left wing, out of the reach of Finley,
taken away by Dunlap, but he misplayed, and the Badgers
now possess five minutes left of the first one nothing
Ohio State pucket center with it now is long hands
off to deck Hut and then he was tied up
by Morrisy. Good defense by Falan and the Badgers win

(56:26):
the puck well after a sloppy start. He and the
Badgers have been good.

Speaker 3 (56:31):
Yeah, I mean they have again.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
It's from the top of the circles in they've had
no penetration and no significant scoring opportunities.

Speaker 3 (56:42):
Puck loos in the Ohio State zone.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
Tassy and on a steel by Tick, and it went
right under his skates as he played the puck with
his stick. Now he'll grab it at center and has
passed a lotch right between his wickets. Lodge battling back,
knocked it off the stick of Jake Dunlap. Now Hensler
up ahead for Dick. It bounced over his stick, no
icing though. Hensler in on the fore check, and it

(57:06):
bounces past Dick. And here comes Ohio State three on one,
but Noah Powell. The pass to him off the heel
of his stick. Powell centering pass, ricochet back to the
far corner. Hensler off the wall. It's sliding slowly out
of the Wisconsin blue line. Good pass Fitzgerald. Here's Tassy
three on two backside Fitzgerald. Good defense by Johnson covering

(57:27):
the slot area in front of the Ohio State bench.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Hars net that is.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
And then Dick picked one up and he rifled one
off everly in the glass. A lot of chuck shoots one.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
It's loose.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
It popped in the ear of baseball swing by Fitzgerald.
He missed down to the corner. It goes Fitzgerald right
wing pass gobbled up by Deck Sheimer, tries to step
around Jake Dunlappin does and then added PopEd off his
stick nicely by Johnson, freeing the puck for the Buckeyes
three twenty four to go in the first one.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
Nothing OSU. That was a good shift.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
Yep, dex Sheimer again, he'll backhand one towards the cage
and gloving it is every schol gave him some snow
as he hit the brakes in front of the Blue
paints face off to come in the Ohio state zone.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds you to always drive
sober zero in Wisconsin. Together we can save lives. Get

(58:15):
the drive sober app today. That's a part of Christian
Fitzgerald that I really like. He just turned on the
after burners, got into the zone. But when he made
that pass across to Tyson Dick, it was just a
rocket and Tyson was able.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
To freeze the defenseman. So six or one half dozen
of the other.

Speaker 4 (58:33):
When Christian Fitzgerald is in full flight, he's a hard
man to catch Christopher Everley, the starting goaltender for Ohio State,
having some issues with a strap on his mask, So
peel head over to the bench and have that attended
by the equipment manager.

Speaker 3 (58:51):
Tim Adams. Come on, play some old time hockey. Play
without it.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
Everly beat American International last Saturday, five two, stop twenty
six of tw eight shots. As a freshman last year,
he was three eight and one with a two ninety
eight goals against a nine to eleven save percentage. One
in one in three games played against the Badgers, stopping
seventy of seventy five shots, he faced a nine to
thirty three saved percentage. His last game against Wisconsin prior

(59:17):
to tonight, he gave up four goals on thirty seven
shots in Wisconsin's four to two win over Ohio State
in Game two of the best of three first round
Big Ten playoff series. The Buckeyes eventually won Game three
behind goalie Logan Turnus Every a former Green Bay Gambler,
won twenty five games for the Gamblers a couple of
years ago. Now All setting back in the crease in

(59:40):
a face off, coming up to his right, Badgers need
one to tie late first period. Then Mark wins the faceoff.
Good catch on a bouncing puck by deck Shimer. Shot
went off of Everly's blocker and maybe the near post
as well. It did and now burnside. On the attack,
he shoots one to low Saint may Gram a big
rebound lose. Here's a off bound shot by Hanson.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
Do you catta? Blocked by Linn Mark and out of
play at sales.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
Probably the most innocent shot that the Badgers have had
to shoot the words Annett was by Pilata Chuck and
he just kind of tossed it there, hoping wholeheartedly that
it would bounce down or fall into somebody or be
blocked and the Badgers would get a rebound. But it
went off the blocker and then the near post and

(01:00:25):
then out the other side. I was like, whoat you
get that cellophane off of there?

Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Ba saw off to the left of Grandma won by Wisconsin.
Mosley able to escape past Lewis, then lost the puck
trying to regain possession.

Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
Pop didn't he picked up by Romaine.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Romaine the freshman defenseman Colorado Ambalanche sixth round pick ahead
Guzo left wing shoots one club said by Gradma, he
dropped and right in front, but there to pick up
the garbage was Wisconsin Spinley and a buck guy went
hard into the end boards. That's Patrick Guzo who rifled
that shot from the left wing. Big glove saved by
Gramma and Guzo on all fours trying to get back

(01:01:06):
up on his skates.

Speaker 4 (01:01:07):
And I don't think there was a Badger involved in
any contact that had him go in. I think he
what do they call that, stumbled on his own accord,
did not have assistance going into the back of the
net or back of the boards.

Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
Jason Ruled the athletic trainer for Ohio State, talking with
Patrick Guzo, playing in his one hundred and thirty ninth
career game, the co captain from Marysville, Michigan.

Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Oh I was wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
He got hit Anthony Kerr turned him upside down and
shot him into the corner.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
Guzo appears to be fine. No penalty called on Wisconsin's
care good clean hit.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
The replay shows that it was a good clean hit.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Guzo's up skating to the bench got a nice round
of applause from the Badger fans and takes his seats
right in front of head coach Steve Rolick, and everybody
over there is going It was number twenty four. Carr
remains out there with Felan, Finley, Morrissey, and Moseley. Badger's
down one two and a half minutes left until the

(01:02:07):
first intermission. Buckeyes win the draw and it bounces off
a stanchion left corner, right in front of the Wisconsin net,
and Grandma pounced on it and covers for a face off.

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Now you know why Goalie's watch it go all the
way around. If he was gonna like it, most goaltenders
would have done. He would have tried to sprint to
the back of the net and try and catch it
on the way or by, But not that time.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Badgers won thirty two of fifty four face offs last night.
The Buckeyes have won ten of seventeen draws so far. Tonight,
Dick against Sam deck Hutt right now, and deck Hut
wins it snapshot. Dunlap didn't get it on, but the
puck came to the near side point in Hansom Buchanta's
shot from long range, easy kneeling sliding saved by Grandma.

Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
In another face off, this time to Grandma's left. The
pointed disappoints.

Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
Part that disappoints me is that when the Badgers lose
the draw, it's the second guy who is getting the
puck back, and he's not able to shoot the puck.
He's able to find a wide open defenseman or a
wide open winger. So the person who is supposed to
be cutting them off isn't doing his job.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Sam deck Hutt will take the draw. When a Clark
Cup at Sious City a few years ago with Luke Strand.

Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
As a head coach.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Or Badger's assistant, oh Claire Native Wisconsin wins the defensive
zone draw and here comes Hensler. Tries to cut past
Dunlap does passed towards the middle off the stick of
Kukanan and bounced in front of the net miner everly
and wide to the corner. Now a foot race down
to the Wisconsin zone and Dunlap puts his shoulder into Hensler,
who goes back first into the backboards, but he's back

(01:03:44):
up on his skates steal behind that at Hong throws
it out to the point it's Brent Johnson, right handed
defenseman flips it back left wing now to Hong, pressured
by a Lodge. Hong just fell down, deck out with
it now had it poked away by Lodge to the
stick of Hensler, set or breakout to Lindmark to the
left wing. Now kukanin up ahead, Fitzgerald, Johnson immediately on him.

(01:04:04):
Fitzgerald protects two Buckeyes on him. Wisconsin's Kuchen and Out
tried to fire a point pass that was knocked away
by Ohio State. Buckeyes have possession ninety seconds to go
on the first one nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Christian's got a bad skate.

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
Mellen Baker out there now Shol as well tassie for
the Badgers. Puck rolls all the way back behind the
Badger net. Whacked away from deck Szheimer by Thompson. Thompson
behind the cage with it. Big left handers spins away
from Schol. Took a stick up near the chin.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
We play on.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Both teams have had one two minute minor tonight. Both
teams zero for two on the oh for one on
the power play. One minute to play in the opening period,
one nothing Buckeyes, Schol and Thompson battling down low. Centering
pass comes to Thompson through it through the crease, and
it's flung to the far side wall but not out.
Buckeyes havebit Wahlberg. McBrayer his one time bid. He fanned

(01:04:55):
on it, and now Mellenbacher watched it slides out to
center ice and gathered in by Wallberg, Ottawa Senator's sixth
round pick and twenty twenty two big left handed defenseman
from Stockholm. Four blocks last night for Wahlberg. Ohio State
had twenty four block shots last night.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
Every team that we've played has significantly more block shots
than Bucky does.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Sixty eight block shots in three games for Wisconsin opponents.
Morrissey with it across the line, twenty seconds to play,
rubbed off the puck by McBrayer, Moseley tries to win
it back. Buckeyes have numbers behind their own net and
now Carfona begg your pardon. Hansome view Cata tied up
out to center, picked up by Moseley, snaps off a
left wing pass for Morrissey behind him. Lotch of the

(01:05:41):
red line throws it in off the end boards. It
hits the back of the net, and that's it for
the opening period of play. Tonight's game brought to you

Short Badgers trail, Ohio State won nothing after one period
of play. Sophomore Riley Thompson redirected a shot from point
man Aiden Hansen view Katta at twenty one second to
the opening period. Defenseman Damian Carfania got the secondary assist,
the lone goal scored in that period. Both teams had
a first period penalty, Both teams had a first period

(01:07:41):
power play.

Speaker 3 (01:07:41):
Both teams failed to convert.

Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Six shots on goal for Ohio State, William Gramma made
five saves for the Badgers, and Christopher Everley stopped all
five Badger bids in the opening period of play. After
a bad start, oh quite frankly by Wisconsin played better
but just not getting anything to the next No.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
They aren't.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
And it seems like every time that they make one
or two really good plays, all of a sudden there's
a meltdown and they just don't really get anything. And
I got to give it again, I'll give Ohio State
all the credit in the world because defensively and at.

Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Least in their own zone.

Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
They're keeping the Badgers to the outside, not allowing any
center ice shots or ice slot shots of any sex
of the imagination. And when the defenseman from the Wadgers
Badgers do get a shot, the forwards have got to
do a much better job of beating their defenseman.

Speaker 28 (01:14:29):
It's Matt Lapey, voice of the Badgers on the field.
The Badgers are always on the move. Off the field.
That's where Evans Transportation comes in. As Wisconsin's three pl
they move over thirty thousand shipments a year right here
in the Badger State. That's dedication to keep things moving
here in Scottie. Evans is excited to support Badger student
athletes and as a proud partner of Wisconsin Athletics, find

(01:14:51):
them at Evanstrans dot com. That's Evanstrans dot com. Go Badgers.

Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
Ssconsin down won nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
First intermission only five shots on goal for the Badgers
and the opening twenty minutes and only two shots on
goal from forwards, just like last night.

Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
Yeah, exactly the case, and again that's one hundred percent.
The result of the system that both teams seem to
be using is that there's nobody going to get an
initial shot unless it's a breakaway, and everybody else is
just tagging on to a man. So the only open
people are going to be defensemen, and they've got to
either hit the net and get a rebound or score

(01:15:36):
on their own because other than that, there's no forwards
get involved in the offensive play.

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Badgers trail won nothing. That's it for the MPAM. First
intermission reports. Second period is coming up in a couple
of minutes. This is Badger hockey from Airfield.

Speaker 5 (01:15:51):

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Brought to you Buy American Family Insurance is sure carefully,
fearlessly and by a Lion Energy. Alliant Energy is powering
beyond for you. It's time to drop the puck for
the second period.

Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
Bryan Posingki and parent here at the Coal Center.

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
Over ten thousand fans on and tonight, another strong students
section trying to urge their Badgers to put the puck
in the back of the net. Scoreless after one period,
just one goal in four periods against Ohio State to
start the Big Ten season. Badgers will attack the goal
to our right, where Christopher Everley is sliding from left

(01:18:36):
to right in his crease. William Grammont chatting with Colin Krompforce,
the referee, and he's.

Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
About ready to go to our left. Speaking of sliding again.

Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
My favorite part of the period break is watching the
visiting teams coaches shuffle their way along the boards on.

Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
The ice after it's still wet. It's amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
They're all such probably good skaters. The coaching staff are
relatively good skaters. Rawle was an average Rolick was an
average skater. Yeah, I don't remember what Bittner was like,
but Rolick was a very average skater.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
But he was so stable on his skates.

Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
And I watched those guys one hand on the ledge
and then they shuffle.

Speaker 3 (01:19:16):
Along like it's it's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
My Time from the Coal Center is out trying to
repair some ice around the far right post of the
goal that William Gramma is setting here in the second period.
Time loves FaceTime, and right now he looks like he
has some sort of trowel er.

Speaker 4 (01:19:41):
Just putting an ice into it so that it'll freeze.
Instead of just putting water on there and waiting four
hours for it to freeze. They'll put a little crushed
ice or soft ice, whatever you want to call it,
slush in there and hopefully it'll freeze. But I'm not
sure why that would have happened. I don't remember any
situations where the gold pegs would have been hit. No,

(01:20:06):
by Everley. There wasn't a lot of acts down in
front of there.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
This is a new ice surface two hundred by eighty
five at NHL sized sheet. It used to be two
hundred by ninety seven. And it has taken a little
while for this ice to take in the building after
it was redone. And then you add that seventy five
degree temperatures in Madison, humidity over ten thousand people, and

(01:20:32):
it's taken a while for the ice to get set.
But we seem to be set right now. For period
number two, Wisconsin Trails, Ohio State won to nothing. Face
off at center won by the Badgers. Morrissey, Moseley and
Finley out for the Cardinal in white. Morrissey able to
bat it deep into the Ohio state zone to our right,
giving chase on Carfania. They're two tied up. Buck spun

(01:20:54):
around to the far side. Burdenside tried to chop it out.
It goes flying through the low crease and taken by Quinn.
Finley hands off to Hnsler. He over skates, taken away
by Gunnar Wolf Fontaine three on two the other way
a trailer backside flip. La Fontaine had his pass in
the middle kicked out by Grandma. They tried to go
tic tac toe Fontaine at a wide open net. Instead

(01:21:17):
of shooting it, he tried to feed Burnside down the
middle and Grandma got his pat on it. Now Finley
dropped past Morrissey and he over skates taken back by
the Buckeyes burnside. Carfana tries to sauce a ad for
Burnside too far and paddled away by Grandma to the
far wall. Burnside turns and dumps it deep. Badgers down

(01:21:38):
one to nothing. They started the second period like they
started the first. Gave up a great a scoring chance.

Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
Yeah, they really did, and it was because of a
muffed pass or a muff shot and uh, same thing.
They don't react after the turnover is played. Long shit
for the top line of the Badgers. They've now changed Tyson.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Dick stick handles off the left wing wall right Kuchanan
pass in front intended for Dick, patted away by the defenseman.
Johnson comes to the stick of Montes. Montes left hander
left wing defended by Kuchanon. Escape moved back to the point,
he goes in William Smith. He tried to dump it deep,
a badger got in the way, Dick took it away,
snaps off a pass to the tape of Fitzgerald stick.

(01:22:18):
Kuchanon's got it top of the right circle. His shot good,
stick by Smith and out of play. Kyle Kuchanan was
looking at options. He could have just stepped in and
maybe shot right away, but Fitzgerald was cutting down the
right side of the slot and he elected to shoot eventually,
but it was blocked and a face off to come
in the Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (01:22:36):
Zone and you're exactly right when you slow down and
take the time to check out your options. It also
is giving time to Ohio State to lock on to
whatever option you thought you might have had.

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
Fase off to the left of Everley Lindmark to take
the draw. He won four of six face offs in
the opening period, and the Badgers win this one. Or
bock Low rights banks it out to the point and
Failan swings it for r side Care who was forced
to try to shoot it right away. His Dunlap pressure
and he shanked it. Dunlap takes it away right wing shot,
right shoulders saved by Grandma and out of play. Oh

(01:23:10):
William Gramma, the sophomore at six foot four, lifted up
his right shoulder and able to deflect that burnside bid
from the right dot.

Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
I'll tell you what, I did not realize how fast
that Ohio State player was, because it's been a long
time since I've seen Anthony Kerr get beat one.

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
On one in a foot race.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Dave Davis Burnside came in too tonight eleven shots on
Goalie had four last night, four goals against Wisconsin a
year ago, including two in the decisive Game three of
the first round playoff series the Badgers lost here in Madison.
Wisconsin wins the draw in the D zone, d to

(01:23:53):
d Lodge Tohnzler back to Launch, who carries into the
attacking zone, stops near the corner and pinned against the
wall by Wahlberg and then McBrayer tied up with Tassy.
They're still tied up and out to center ice. The
puck comes and Lotch picks it up there for Wisconsin.
Badrews down won nothing. Two and a half minutes into

(01:24:14):
period number two, Sawyer schul Owen mellen Baker Simon Tassy
on the ice for Wisconsin. Mellen Baker had it taken
away from behind by deck Hut, who leads the rush
the other way. The Badgers back though the shoals stopped
the progress of deck Hut, and then he meets McBrayer
with a shoulder and the Badres with all kinds of
time in their own end as the Buckeyes change dex

(01:24:36):
Sheimer to center. Good catch by Finley through the center
circle and had it knocked off his stick from behind
by Jake Dunlap up ahead and Ryan Gordon he'll scoop
it in, but dex Sheimer there first for Wisconsin hard
rim around. Mellen Bacher didn't come and meet the puck,
but now he's got it as it's batted off of
Dunlap stick and mellen Bacher up ahead running it down.

(01:24:58):
Is dex Sheimer loose pucking' slot. Dex Sheimer lost his
stick taken away by Ohio State. With it now is
Noah Pale off left wing, but Ohio State offside. Sixteen
forty three to go in the second period the Wisconsin
Badger's trail. Ohio State won nothing. We paused ten seconds
for station identification, ten seconds for a legal idea.

Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
You're listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey.

Speaker 6 (01:25:23):
You're listening to Badger Hockey on the only station that
gives up puck News Talk thirteen to ten Wida Madison.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Along with our producer Ryan Bexton, Ian Parrin on Brian Posik.
The Badger's trail Ohio State won to nothing, only five
shots on goal for Wisconsin in the first twenty three
plus minutes, and once again, Mike Tyne is out trying
to fix the ice around the goal that sits below
the Wisconsin students section to our left.

Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
Yeah, william Is, that's the second time he's complained about
the holes in the ice right by the posts. And
after the left side post, left post was repaired, now
all of a sudden, it's the right post again. And
he did him what two minutes ago? Yeah, three minutes ago.

(01:26:20):
Obviously we're going to have to be critical of the
quality of his work.

Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Looks like he could be laying bricks at any time.
My time, he'll walk out the zamboni door to our
lefts and we will resume action. UW Health Sports Medicine
is the healthcare team for the Badgers and proud partner
of UW Athletics.

Speaker 4 (01:26:45):
And the part that concerns me is that that was notified.
They notified the referee on an off side call. It's
not like there would have been a scramble in front
of the net or anything like that. It was an
off side call that he ends up notifying. I don't
know if he's just trying to buy time for us
or what's going on.

Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Good effort by Kyle Kuchanan to fight through a stick
check and a hold it center, allowing the Badgers to
dump the puck into the Ohio state zone to our right,
but it's taken away by Thompson, hard rim around by Johnson,
it elludes Falen and all the way down to the
Wisconsin zone, and Care this time beats Fontaine to the
hashmarks icing called on the Buckeyes. After tonight, Wisconsin will

(01:27:27):
hit the road for another non conference series out to
the Mile High City to take on the defending national
champion Denver Pioneers next Friday night at eight o'clock Central
Saturday at seven o'clock Central on the Badgers Sports Network
in the Varsity Network app. When the Badgers resumed Big
Ten play November first and second at Notre.

Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
Dame, Saskatchewan's Finance Boston buck Berger.

Speaker 2 (01:27:52):
Buckberger had two assists last night as the top ranked
Pioneers beating Northeastern five to two at Magnus Arena. Buckloosen
the offensive zone and then backhand shot stop by every
flipped out to the point, held in Hensler's slot past Dick.
He shoots one, and he shot it too high, Tyson.
Dick still looking for his first goal as a Badger.
Here's Fitzgerald pinned against the end boards. Dick sweeps it

(01:28:13):
between the legs of the defender, low left, centering for
kouchen In. He's tied up by Wahlberg. And now Fitzgerald
and Johnson come off the boards and Johnson lost his
helmet and a whistle stops play and they'll drop the
puck in the Ohio State zone. Four to oh six
into the second period, won nothing Ohio States.

Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
I'm not sure what uh Christian Fitzgerald is discussing with
the referee at this point in time. It didn't look
like Christian got his way by any stretch of the imagination.
Referee was pretty adamant about the discussion.

Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Lynn Mark to take the face off against montez Owen
won it. Hensler patient at the right point, put it
in front, got to traffic. I think every got a
piece of it with his breakout pass for Ohio State
off the stick of Montes, taken by Hensler. Watched then
head to Piedla, who redirects into the buckeye zone. Linn
Mark on the fore check didn't get his bump on

(01:29:11):
the defenseman. It slides out to center and here's Hong
with it. Whips a wild pass far side to Montes,
but picked up by Plata Chuck off the glass. The
Badgers skin transition. Lind Mark slowed and lost the puck.
They break out again in Hong speedy former Madison Capitol
right wing left hander Slot Boo shoots one love site,
just missed the net, and then the man goes tumbling

(01:29:34):
down behind the cage that was Lewis. The Badgers have
a three on two, potentially lind Mark out of gas.
Piedel has got it and never got a shot off.
Good stick work by.

Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Romayne, but from the far side deck.

Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
Sheimer put it on goal and Everley had to manage
the post far side and directed it behind the cage.

Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
Who's going where? Just because of the fact that both.

Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
Teams really need a change fourteen fifteen left here in
the second won nothing, Buckeyes tassy with it blue lines
and around to the left corner in Shoal lets it
go for Falan PopEd it along for Shoal in a
whistle and a hand passed cold against Wisconsin fourteen thirty
nine to go in the second one nothing Ohio State
fifteen shots on goal combined between these teams. Ohio State

(01:30:16):
has eight of them.

Speaker 4 (01:30:18):
Twenty five minutes and about as many scoring opportunities as
I have on my left hand.

Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
No, there's been no significant I mean like loan breaks
or right any of that kind of stuff where you're
just popping in the slot. The defensive coverage for both
teams has been pretty impressive.

Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
Badgers win the face off and sent it in misplayed
for a moment by Everley, but he had some time,
and then the Badgers try to keep it alive in
the attacking zone. You steal by Morrissey, taken by Hanson
to Yukatta, and then a pass attempt by deck Hut
denied by Morrissey on the back pressure and Wisconsin's got
up here to closely drop to Morrissey. He'll flip it

(01:31:03):
in around to the right corner. Finley goes to get
into the half wall, tries to cut underneath Hanson Buchata.
No luck there, taken away by Ohio State's Deck Hut
who headman's to. Jake Dunlap flings it all the way
down Wisconsin's way and they'll call icing on the Buckeyes.
His Dunlap was hustling after the puck, but Daniel Lotch
at six foot five, has a little bit longer strides

(01:31:25):
and got to the hash marks just in time.

Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
That's the.

Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
Cut off as a hash marks. It's a top hash
mark or the bottom Halsh mark.

Speaker 3 (01:31:34):
I can ever remember top hash mark. So Daniel Watch
is not slow. That means Dunlap is pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
He is a fast young fella Joe Dunlap and assists.
Last night, Badgers win the draw. It slides all the
way out to the right point. Latch goes to get
it and he fires one through traffic into the catching
glove of Everly. The Badgers had players in front, both
Fitzgerald and ten as he tried to take the goalie's
eyes away, but Everly saw that shot from Latch and

(01:32:05):
able to snag it as it sailed right over the
right shoulder.

Speaker 3 (01:32:08):
If Simon Tassi.

Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
Good net friend presence though, I mean even if you
just look at it, he gets a quick shot away.
Simon Tassy's right there. Fitzgerald is begging him for to
drop the puck or get a rebound, or get a
deflection or something.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
Face off to Everley's left, Dick and Fitzgerald and Tassi
out now shot off the draw, a flutter shot by
Lodge snagged by every again, and another face off to come.
Fitzgerald got knocked down after the whistle, but he's just fine.

Speaker 4 (01:32:41):
Yeah, face offs are gonna be important in a one
nothing game. If the Badgers keep winning him and keep
throwing him at the net. One of these times, somebody's
gonna get a lucky bounce.

Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
Somebody's gonna have to unlock the cage here pretty soon,
draws are even fourteen apiece. Buckeyes have the edge as
they win this defensive zone face off at Wisconsin Steeles
near center. A long range shot by Hensler knocked down
and the Buckeyes on the.

Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
Move make them a piece of the boards.

Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
Mister Hensler, here's Hong now with it had the puck
knife away from him by Hensler turning away from pressure. Lodge,
nice outlet pass to Dick, snaps one off ahead to Tassi,
too far for him. Wahlberg gets the hashmarks and icing
cold on. Wisconsin Badger hockey fans visit UW Badgers dot

and about twenty gorgeous young college girls came right down
to the glass and embarrassed them.

Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
All like you wouldn't believe.

Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
Steal at center Ohios date Thompson try to feed Fontaine
down the middle, but he was defended nicely by a launch.
Lodge now protects behind the net, flips into open eyes,
hoping Tassi and or Dick kanyad to it. Lotch again
battling Riley Thompson, the lone goal scorer tonight won nothing
Buckeyes twelve fifty to go, on the second Logan Henzler

(01:34:22):
from the red line will fire it in. Badgers get
a full change. Everley turns it over Tassy after it first,
but he's cut off and pinned against the wall by Smith,
where the Badgers get reinforcements. Horbock steel left circle slots
shot in and out of the glove of Everly, and
then he denies lin Mark in tight on the rebound.
Back to back big stops by Christopher Everley to keep

(01:34:43):
it a one nothing Ohio State lead buck flipped all
the way through centered dex Sheimer will beat burnside to
the puck and dex Shimer after it stick candles between
two Buckeyes, and here he comes right wing, pass horback
harder than that dex Seimer right the dex Sheimer he
rate the directed it and kicked a side by Everley.
All the Badgers three golden chances here and now a

(01:35:05):
longing shot by dex Sheimer's skipped to the right of
the net Miner Lindmark in front, hoping to hit Kuchin
in it goes off a stick to the corner. Badgers
trailing won nothing twelve minutes to go. Second period four,
Box stumbles down behind the net. It's flipped to the corner,
and after it there is Ohio State, and it's sauced
ahead and look out, and it goes into the penalty box,
stopping play. With eleven, forty six and forty five clock

(01:35:29):
was counting down a little bit after the puck went
into the penalty box.

Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
But well it did now it didn't hit the any
of the illustrious staff in the penalty box. That is,
you can remember we've had that happen before, Yes we have, Karen,
You remember what.

Speaker 3 (01:35:47):
It's like to get hitting the melon with.

Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
A puck face off to the left of every mellon
Boker's out there right now. Shoal piedla Buck wobbles towards
the cage and reaching with his right hand. Shol got
his stick on it, but lifted it too high. Shoal
behind the net, wrap around, stopped by every ripbound melon Backer.
It went off the heel of his stick to the corner.

(01:36:11):
Now Hong with it, spins around at center and sends
it down Wisconsin's way. Anthony Kerr leans in with his
hips to get position on deck Hut and won the puck.
Mellenbaker ahead now to fail. It flings a pass ahead
for Piedla too far no icing, though Wallberg able to
get to the puck first, and then he rimmed it
around it all the way down and quickly. Hensler able

(01:36:32):
to beat Hong to the puck behind the Badger net.
Eleven five left. In the second, Badger's still looking for
their first goal of the nights, trailing by one. Piedla
hammers it in every can't stop it cleanly behind the nets.
Mellenbacher shoveled it back to the right side. Piedla walls
off Dunlap. Wallberg there trying to knife it free Piel

(01:36:53):
and knocked it down out of mid air. Then it's
push past Hensler at center. Jake Dunlap tries to get
around him, but Hensler had position and whacked it ahead
to center. Moseley back out for the Badgers. Montees tries
to side step Henzler. He fell down over the right
leg of the Badgers freshman defenseman.

Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
No penalty.

Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
Only two penalties tonight called against these two teams, only
two last night too. Here's Leskowski on the drive to
the net. Good pope check by Wahlberg and then he
tried to throw it up the middle and he threw
it off the side of his own net that allowed
the Badgers to steal the puck.

Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
Liskowsky tied up. No penalty launched now with it out
high show up.

Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
Moving shot redirected by Moseley on goal in every able
to stick his left pad down to keep it out
of the nets. Badger's getting more shots now, some pretty
good quality shots too, But fourteen shots on goal, no
goals so far. Halfway through here in Madison won nothing
Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
I think if you listened to coaches talk and they
talk about getting goals in the dirty area, this is
what we're seeing now here in the second period. Badgers
are getting opportunities in the dirty area.

Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
Carfono with it out of his own end up a
head off the stick of Gordon, can't control. Fitzgerald takes it,
sweeps it deep. Will that be icing on Wisconsin? Yes,
icing on the Badgers. We'll keep it right here. One
nothing Buckeyes lead the lone goal scored by sophomore Riley
Thompson on a deflection twenty one seconds into the first Thompson,

(01:38:22):
a freshman at UAA.

Speaker 3 (01:38:24):

Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
At Anchorage, he had nine goals and twenty four points.
Had a big assist last night, did Thompson, and he
gets the Buckeyes on the board here tonight, early first period,
and that's been it.

Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:38:34):
I mean there's been scoring opportunities, but when the shots
are fourteen to eight halfway through the second period, it's
really not.

Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
Been a big scoring opportunity game. Lindmark lost the defensive's
own face off out to the point. Johnson shot blocked
by the Badgers, picked up by Plata Chuck sawst to
head of Fitzgerald took a whack from burnside and lost
the puck, but then burnside stick from behind by Dexzheimer
freed the biscuit for Dick and out. Fitzgerald took the
head as he passed to Dick. His pass to the

(01:39:05):
middle of the ice in finley broken up. Quinnstow got
it left wing, backhand pass point and Falan shot blocked
by James Holm, taken by Smith out to center. It
comes and Thompson picks it up for the Buckeyes and
he'll heap it into the right corner the Badger's zone
with nine minutes to go. Here in the second Anthony
Ker falls down, goes skates first in the far side wall.

(01:39:25):
But he's back up now. Badgers and Buckeyes battling here
in Madison. A two to one overtime win for Ohio
State last night. Badrews trying to come from behind here tonight,
long lead feed task. He kicks it to his forehand
right wing shot into the glove of everly, and then
he reaches around with his left arm behind him, not
knowing where the puck went under It actually dropped underneath him,

(01:39:47):
onto his pads and down to the blue paint, and
a whistle stops play.

Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
What's this theory? If it wasn't for bad luck, I
wouldn't have any at all.

Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Yeah, that's what we got right now. The Badger's scoreless,
eight thirty nine left in period. We at number two
one nothing Ohio State. This is Badger hockey from their field.

Speaker 26 (01:40:06):
The Cole Center, Camp Randall, the field House. This is
where the magic happens, where the best players lead with passion,
fight with power, and win with exceptional performance. And now
it's time we add another house to our Badger community.

(01:40:26):
home of top doctors and advanced treatments, all under one roof.
So no matter the opponent, we're the place to defeat it.
UW Health remarkable.

Speaker 38 (01:40:37):

Speaker 3 (01:41:02):
Of this Cup?

Speaker 23 (01:41:02):
Touchdown Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:41:13):
Well, the Badgers with ten shots on gold in this
second period, Ohio State with only two, but Wisconsin still
trailing one nothing eight thirty nine left until the second intermission.

Speaker 4 (01:41:23):
Well, every time I think that we have a problem
with scoring, I look at the out of town scoreboard
and I see that Army and holy Cross are still
tied at zero zero in the second period.

Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
Didn't score any goals last night. They haven't scored any
goals tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
Lynn Mark korback on the ice right now for the Badgers.
Simon Tassi as well. Offensive zone face off chipped by
Lindmark for himself to the corner. Tassy whips it around
left point. Lotch stumbled a bit, lost the puck, but
able to play it back deep to Tassi. Fights through
the check of Hanson. Viukata, still possessing out high, threw
it over to Lotch right side. He's able to backhand

(01:42:00):
the puck through Hong, but then got knocked down and
the Buckeye sent it to center. Good ruboff checked by
Horbach on Hong. That freed the puck for Logan Hensler.
Hensler redline dumps it across the line, but not deep
enough and taken away by the Buckeye's deck. Hut try
to backhand pass the dunlap. A good defense by Daniel
Lotch against the rush, and now Daniel will pick it

(01:42:20):
up behind the Wisconsin net. Eight minutes to go in
the second one, nothing Ohio states Latch Fan on a
breakout pass. He'll try again, slides it over to Hensler
and he just pitches it out to center and McBrayer intercepts.
Tassie's picked up his play here a little bit. Latch
now steals at the red line and we'll fire it

(01:42:41):
in off a stick towards the Netminer and every actually
had to move it away from the cage.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
I think that's why we see Cassie out there with
Lynn Mark and horback.

Speaker 2 (01:42:50):
Yeah, and now Plata Chuck from center ice throws it
on goal. Everley catches that. He drops it off from
McBrayer outlet pass behind Joe Dunlap and the Badgers have
it again, won nothing Buckeyes Pallata Chuck centerized deck Szeimer
cuts to his right, dumps it in right corner to left.

(01:43:12):
Down comes Shoal, runs into Romain puck behind the net,
Kuchenin banks it out to the point deck. Shimer quickly
left side pull out of chuck fake to his left,
cut back right, goes back left, Pallata Chuck low left
and then put it through the slot and Scholl trying
to get to the puck dot hook from behind or
held and the Badgers will get a cutest power play
and a chance to tie with six p fifty four

(01:43:34):
left in the second.

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
I'll give Sawyer Shoal a seven out of ten on
the dive scale because yes, his stick was tied up,
but he overaccented all the things that were actually going
to happen. So but regardless of the play. The referee
made the call and the Badgers will go on their
second power play of the night. And I think they

(01:43:57):
said interference are holding. I can't holder holding the stick.

Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
Yeah, second penalty of the night on Ryan Gordon, and
he's sophomore from Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
Does it. Seemed to do things in twos at Ohio
State Montez with two goals.

Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
Yeah, bouncing puck in the face off circle, Badgers trying
to win it. They do not, and Burnside backhands it
out through center ice. Same power playing in it for
the Badgers. Dex Sheimer, No, Morrissey, Finley and Moseley. But
actually Simon Tassy's out there now on this power play
for Wisconsin, replacing Kyle Kuchanan. Morrissey dumps it in, Tassy

(01:44:34):
in after it. There's Finley low too, puts it towards
the front of the norm and it slides through the
high crease and reaching for it Tass he couldn't get there.
Buckeye short handed Thompson beautiful pass hitting the crossbar. Davis
Burnside No. The referee says it was top shelf shorthanded
goal for Davis Burnside, who turns around the badger net

(01:44:54):
and then extends his arms and skates right in front
of the student section and he'll ahead of the Buck
Guys bench to celebrate. The referee called it a goal.
I think it hit the crossbar.

Speaker 3 (01:45:08):
I have a tendency to agree with you from that replay.

Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
And they're going to take a look at video replay.
I think it was Sean Fernandez who originally ruled a
shorthanded goal for the buck Eyes, but I think burnside
just rang the crossbar.

Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
And we're at that obtuse angle where you really can't tell.
I hopefully that the goal cam will dictate whether it
was a goal or not a goal.

Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
Well that's a quick review by Sean Fernandez. Let's hear
what he says.

Speaker 3 (01:45:42):
No goal, no goal. He called it a goal.

Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
He was below the goal line to the left of
William Gramma when it rang the crossbar, and so a
face off coming up in the Wisconsin town.

Speaker 3 (01:45:54):
That was a hard shot. Yeah, hit pipe. I wonder
if he's going to go back and apologize to.

Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
The student section now right now, he went to taunt
the students after what he thought was a short handed
goal in a too nothing Ohio State lead. But no
goal and so a face off inside the Wisconsin's own.
Badger's power play continues for another eighty five seconds.

Speaker 3 (01:46:18):
Dodge the bullet on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:46:19):
Let's see if the Badgers can finally get one past
Beverly scored only once last night in a two to
one overtime loss. Badgers had managed only six goals so
far in ten and a half periods plus this season.
Kukanen sweeps it in, Dick moves it back behind the net.

(01:46:41):
Fitzgerald in a battle want it free for Kukanin out
to the left point. A lot of chuck catches left wing.
Now Dick down low left. It's kukanon looking in the
slotless Cosky. Here's plot of chuck right wing, Fitzgerald looking
backside all Is Cosky redirect and Johnson put his stick
down just in time to intercept that shot, if you will,
and then he lifted it out through center.

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Good pass play on the power play, Yeah, a good
puck movement. It's just a if you have to pick
one out of the air, it's really not the best
power play.

Speaker 2 (01:47:11):
Paul Fitzgerald kicks it to his forehand and then couldn't
get around William Smith and Brent Johnson took the puck away.
Johnson hits the brakes near his side, flips it around
Buckeye's short handed Badgers in on the fore check, puck
high in the air, now down to the eyes. Smith
looks to his left and then it's played out through
center ice by Riley Thompson. Fifteen second left on the

(01:47:31):
Cuness power play. Badgers need one to tie. Five minutes
left second period, just three for eighteen on the man
advantage so far this season. Finley with a ton of
speed through center. Finley off to his left, banks it
for himself low left backside for Morrissey, good stick by
Carfona and the goaltender, Everly Gordon out of the box.
Badger's unable to convert the power play, but they possess

(01:47:54):
Lodch with it left wing lasers shot blocked down by Hansen,
viewed Katta push to head for his teammate Dunlap, but
taken away at center by the Badgers. Daniel latch to
Hensler chuckles the puck across the line, settles it down,
now turns to his right and try to dump it
in deep no luck and back out to neutral one nothing.

(01:48:15):
Ohio State with a lead. Buckeyes have only two shots
on goal in this period. They also hit the crossbar shorthanded,
but no goal doesn't count as a shot on net.

Speaker 39 (01:48:26):
I know.

Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
That's the one thing that just bothered me all the time.
I don't know why little things like that kicked me off. Well,
wasn't it If it hits the crossbar, isn't it a
shot on goal? Nope? Shouldn't it be? Why? You know
what I mean? Though? Wouldn't you just say shot on net?

Speaker 32 (01:48:40):
Then?

Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
I'm not sure?

Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
Yeah, because isn't the goal post part of the goal itself?
Buck into the offensive zone for the Badger. Tassie spins
away from the pressure of Wallberg, sweeps it down deep.
Lindmark tried to push it left corner to Horbock, not
much on it, and then good work by Ohio States
to play keep away from Horboch and here comes Wahlberg

(01:49:03):
looking ahead to Burnsider Montez. Instead, Wahlberg skates into the
attacking zone, back pressure from Horbock, walk whack the puck
off his stick, tacking back by Ohio State, centering, passed
by Fontaine, intercepted by the Badgers, and out to neutral ice.
Once again and that's where the Buckeyes dump it right
back down in.

Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
And they're very happy. Guys dump it in.

Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Yeah, Grandma turned it over behind the net and had
to scramble back to his cage. Buck played towards the
side of the net. Behind the net. Now it's Riley.
Thompson spins back to his left with Jack Falin on him.
Faling the freshman defenseman for Wisconsin out to McBrayer for
Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
He shoots one.

Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
It trickled through traffic, stopped by Gramma and then played
to Falen, who breaks out. Now to Sawyer. Shul tried
to scoop it ahead. I thought it went off a
Badger player in the bench. Yeah, but no call. Buck
is deep in the Buckeyes after it to forty five
to go. Here in the second Badgers down one. Nothing,
Liskowski just tripped up as he tried to make a

(01:49:59):
move in the offensive zone. Nothing called Leskowsky then lifts
the stick of dun Laft, but Gordon takes the puck
and sends it back deep to the far side in Smith.
Immediately pressured by Mellenbacher, he reverses his course to McBrayer
head Man's to center Gordon knocked down from behind, no
icing as the puck goes sliding down to the Wisconsin zone.

(01:50:20):
Steel behind the nets by Noah Powell. Powell shovels it
along the kickplate, now for deck Cut. Deck Cut wipes
out on the half boards. Left dex Sheimer engaged with Powell. Powell,
big strong, right handed freshman puck taken away from him
by Mellenbacher, and now dex Sheimer and Pladachuck settle things down.

(01:50:40):
Two minutes left in the second period, one nothing Ohio State.
Dex Sheimer angles it pass ahead to Kuchen and at center.
Can't get it around deck Cut, but deck Cut muffed
it and taken by koukon it slot pass, Dick shoots
oh A sliding knees saf by every reap bound to tempt,
denied by the the Ohio State goaltender again yikes. Won

(01:51:04):
forty three left in the second one nothing Buckeyes.

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
He has been equal to the task, and the Badgers
in this second period have had some not quality looks
but better than average looks, I guess would be the
best way to say it. And everybody's been equal to
the task.

Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
I think he's been lucky as good as he has
been good as well as he's been good.

Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
Because he has no idea where that puck is. After
that shot, he just falls down and crumples into a
pile and the pucks underneath of him.

Speaker 2 (01:51:32):
Tyson Dick with a great eight chance low left, but
everly made this stop and then found a way to cover.
Dick playing in his thirty third game with the Badgers.
Nine assists a year ago without a goal. He's got
one helper this year without a goal. The Ottawa Senators
draft choice couple of years ago, transferred from UMass, He's

(01:51:53):
played well and moved up Mike Hasting's lineup, second line center.
Ohio State just dice the puck with ninety four second
to go here in the second period of play.

Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Hey go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:52:04):
If you're going to describe him, you'd say, doesn't make
many mistakes, but may not be the difference maker because
he can't score. He just doesn't seem to be he
snake bit, whatever you want to call it. He's had
some good opportunities and he doesn't make very many mistakes defensively,
but if he could add that little ingredient of I
can score under pressure, he'd be heack of a hockey player.

Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
Moor is he to take the face off now, Tassi's
out there, so as Mosley Buckeyes win the draw and
they just iced the puck again won twenty eight to
go here in the second period. Hey get the latest
on the Badger men's and women's hockey programs from head
coaches Mike Hastings and Mark Johnson during the Wisconsin Hockey
Hour coming up Tuesday night at seven o five on

(01:52:49):
the Badgers' Sports Network and the Varsity Network app. Mark's
Badgers rallied from a three to nothing deficit to knockoff
Minnesota Today four to three and swept the series up
at Ritter Arena face off to the left of Everly
won nothing Ohio State Linn Mark against deck Cut in
the face off circle, Bucks drop, Badgers win the draw.

(01:53:12):
Hensler quickly left point launch stutter step now shoots one low.
It's loose, tassy backhand shot blocked by the Buckeyes. Tassi
tries to retrieve kennot taken by deck Hut outlet near
side Hong. He'll scoop it into the corner, giving Chase
deck Cut, but mostly they're able to one hand it
over to Hensler over skating lind Mark shuck on the
left wing didn't get through. Grandma was down on his knees.

(01:53:33):
Now back up on his skates. Linn Mark now shovels
it back deep and Hensler after it in his own end.
Got hit from behind, but released the puck to lodge
under a minute ago. Second period, Badger's down one here's
mostly tapped it ahead right circle.

Speaker 3 (01:53:47):
Good back check that.

Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
Time by Thompson and poke to puck free up to
center is its deck. Sheimer d to d goes and
pull outa chuck up the left wing wall and Linn
Mark able to chop it into the offensive zone, but
Ohio State quickly to the puck and the Buckeyes will
send it down Wisconsin's way. Thirty five seconds to go
on the period, Burnside put it towards the Badger's net.

(01:54:08):
Standing there protecting was Ben dex Sheimer. Morrissey now to
Fitzgerald right back to Morrissey two on two to our
right pass right wing. Horback tried to refeed Morrissey, who
got behind the defense, but the defense men McBrayer stole
the puck. Now burnside shot as he cut to his
right blocked by deck Seimer. Eleven seconds to go on

(01:54:28):
the period, dex Seimer battling behind his own nets. Seven seconds,
a lot of chuck ahead to Horbach, try to get
it out to center.

Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
No luck.

Speaker 2 (01:54:36):
Two seconds and that's it for the second period. The
Badgers sixteen shots on goal in all. They had eleven
here in this second period, but have yet to solve
Ohio State goaltender Christopher Everley. After forty minutes in Madison,
Ohio State still leads Wisconsin one to nothing a one
minute break.

Speaker 3 (01:54:55):
This is Badger hockey from Airfield.

Save big money. These they Wisconsin Badgers have allowed only
one goal tonight and only eight shots on goal, only
two shots on goal allowed in the second period to

(01:56:17):
Ohio State. The school record for fewest shots on goal
in a period in the modern era was won by
Michigan State back in March of twenty fifteen. But the
Buckeyes said, leading one nothing, they scored twenty one seconds
into the first period, Riley Thompson redirecting a point shot
by Aiden Hansen view Katta and that's all we've seen

(01:56:40):
so far. Wisconsin again, eleven shots on goal in the
second period, but Christopher Everley has stopped them all. He's
made sixteen saves, William Gramma just seven. We talked about
it at the outset of the broadcast. Are you concerned
about the badgers inability to score so far? So far
only six goals in eleven periods of hockey.

Speaker 3 (01:56:59):
Exactly for the.

Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
Case I was waiting for the public address announcement. Is
Joe Povolski or Danny Heatley in the building could.

Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Come and play here in the third period because this
is Joe Povalski type hockey.

Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
Don't have to skate that well. Everything's down down in
front of the net. Everything is a chip shot or
a tip in or everything like that. And this would
be Joe Pavolski hockey to a te Danny Heatley would
just take it and.

Speaker 3 (01:57:28):
Go coast to coast. That's how I was.

Speaker 4 (01:57:31):
Yeah, those were two fun players to watch, and you'll
be honest with the other The Badgers do not have
that type of a player and that can go coast
to coast. Ben deck Sheimer has tried his best, but
he's even been bottled up tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
Yeah, dex Sheimer has a shot on goal tonight. Quinn
Finley's that guy for Wisconsin who could go the length
of the ice. We saw it in overtime against Omaha
on the exhibition game a couple of weeks ago. But
Finley does not have a shot on goal tonight. At
the Badger's trail, Ohio State won nothing as we hit
intermission number two.

Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
We'll be back in just a bit. This is Badger

Speaker 2 (02:07:33):
Brian Posik and Perrin here at the Cole Center, Wisconsin
down one nothing as we had to period number three,
Buckeyes trying to get out of here with five points
in this six point series. Badgers garnered won last night
by getting to overtime. But Ohio State has had Wisconsin's
number eleven four and one in the last sixteen games

(02:07:57):
against the Badgers, and last year two of three in
this building to knock Wisconsin out of the Big Ten
tournament in the opening round. For seven seed in Big
Ten hockey history not that old in a dozen years,
but the first seven seed to win a first round series.
Both centerment have been kicked out of the face off circle.
Ryland Moseley will take the draw against Gunner Wolf Fontanea.

Speaker 3 (02:08:19):
The Badgers win the draw, ironically, not for anything that
they did. It was the Yahoo's on the wing who
stepped into the circle. Early.

Speaker 2 (02:08:27):
Finley falls down on the seat of his pants in
the Ohio State zone and the Buckeyes sent it past
Daniel Lotchin all the way down to the Wisconsin zone,
but no icing Logan Hensler has to hustle after it,
placed it in the far corner for Lotch, who tapped
it over to Moseley, then to Morrissey. Moseley protects and
now looks for open ice up the middle, gets around
one man across the line.

Speaker 3 (02:08:48):
Four Buckeyes form a wall of the blue line and.

Speaker 2 (02:08:51):
The shop by Finley blocked in Montese the other way,
slides it ahead, now to Nathan Lewis, big right hander,
off to his right, his shot blocked and gobbled up
by Tassy.

Speaker 3 (02:08:59):
You just came off the bench.

Speaker 2 (02:09:00):
Simon tried to cut left and then lost the puck
to his right and gave it away to Ohio State
and Montes now has it. Montes off to his right
drop pass tended for his teammate James Hong didn't get.

Speaker 3 (02:09:11):
Through in a redirect in front of the ard.

Speaker 2 (02:09:13):
Goodness, there's William Crama batting a shot attempt out of
midair with a stick, but the puck floated back near
side in Montes put it in the yawning met third
goal of the weekend for the Heartland, Wisconsin native.

Speaker 3 (02:09:27):
It's two nothing Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (02:09:30):
Well, whoever hits the bouncing ball last is going to
be the victor in this because it was a seemingly
innocent shot.

Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
There was a good play in front. You've got four
badgers back.

Speaker 4 (02:09:43):
Two of them happened to be on their knees, mind you,
But the fact of the matter being is that the
last person to touch the puck was Montes and he
had basically a wide open net to shoot.

Speaker 2 (02:09:53):
It into fifth goal in four games for sophomore Max Montes,
who a year ago as a freshman had nine goals
and eighteen points. Oh And William Smith just clobbered Jack
Horback into the Ohio State bench, and then he kept
helping him, trying to knock him on his head into

(02:10:13):
the bench, and Jack turned and yelled something at the Buckeyes.
Ohio State with a two to nothing lead. Montes from
McBrayer and Lewis at one oh one, So the Badgers
were down one to start the third, now down two
a minute into the third.

Speaker 4 (02:10:30):
I would imagine now that they're down two and it
is the third period, I'm gonna see a lot more
offensive punch out of the defenseman. They're going to be
pinching a lot more than usual.

Speaker 3 (02:10:39):
Leskowski tries to pope check Hong. No luck here comes.

Speaker 2 (02:10:42):
James Hong passed horback to center three Badgers at the
blue line. Across the line is hong backhand shot would
have gone wide, but Grandma snagged it with his glove
and hangs on for a face off again. Montes from
McBrayer and Lewis at one oh one, and the sixty
plus family and friends of Max Montes stood and screamed

(02:11:06):
as they watched him light the lamp for the third
time this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
Rolled up the sidewalks in Heartland because there's nobody left.

Speaker 2 (02:11:17):
Played his youth hockey with the Milwaukee Junior Admirals, did
Max Montes and went to Ohio State after a junior
career with Dubuque in the ushl Ohio State out of
its own zone. They'll flip it out to center. Take
it away by Sawyer Schull left wing pass. Mellenbaker tried

(02:11:37):
to refeed Shual, but he was slowed as he came
down the middle by mcbraer. Koking In takes a hit
in the far corner. Melon Baker able to get there
and backhanded around near side. Lotnch pinches down. Tried to
feed back to Shole top of the left circle.

Speaker 3 (02:11:50):
A battle. Eventually the puck came free to Burnside at
the motion.

Speaker 2 (02:11:54):
W cuts to the slot out of the right wing,
shoots one off the heel of Grandma's glove and then
Burnside tracked it down right corner threw it off the
side of the nets to nothing. Ohio State seventeen fifteen.
Left here in the third Badgers are going to need
another two goal comeback like they did against Lyndenwood last

(02:12:14):
Saturday night. Long range shot wide by Carfaga out to
the near side, Kockin and can't clear. Gordon sweeps it
down right side and Ohio State's got a little extra
juice right now. Here's Shoal with it up towards the
red line, able to battle through a couple of Buckeyes.
Badgers send it in on goal, and Everley just snags
it on his knees and leaves it off for Hanson Bukatta.

(02:12:38):
The rit transfer up ahead deck Hut to the corner.
It goes to the Wisconsin zone to our right. Noah
Powell tied up by Moseley. He'll lift it out towards
the blue line and past McBrayer. It's still in the zone, however,
and look out, here's Powell. Shifty move, shoots one off
of Grandma's right shoulder. Noah Powell, forty five goals in

(02:13:00):
the USHL last year, number one in the league, almost
beat Gramma on his first shot attempt. And now the
defenseman Romaine whistles one wide. They're moving the bock Boy
Ohio state. After gaining that too, nothing lead has had
its way with Wisconsin. Four minutes gone by third period. Powell,

(02:13:22):
with a nice stick candling effort hear his own blue line,
sends it back Wisconsin's way, and that's where Gavin Morrissey
goes to get it. It is awfully quiet here in
the Coal Center, despite more than ten thousand fans on hand.
Centering past Tassi redirected it, Everley on his belly. Where's
the puck in the corner? Came to the near side, Wow,

(02:13:43):
Anthony Caro. Now Morrissey will send it in Beverly behind
his net. Rims it around to the far side to
an open man done lap, but he turned it over.
Here's a chance by Dick, and he shut it off
the stick of Everly, oh Tyson. Dick has had a
three four chance, says here this weekend and just can't
find the back of the nets, and tonight not a

(02:14:04):
single badger can't. Fifteen to fifty left in the third
to nothing, Ohio State. Fitzgerald wild pass intercepted at center.
Montes has to touch up and get a new twig.
He's just going to head to the bench for a change.
Thompson rink wide near the blue line. Fontaine taps it

(02:14:25):
back to Thompson. Fitzgerald slows his progress care steals the
puck in the corner, gave it away to Thompson out
to the point it's Wahlberg. Now Smith shoots one and
kneeling and gloving the puck William Gramma and he hangs
on to nothing. Ohio State fourteen forty six to go.
In the third Grandma couldn't stop but redirect on the

(02:14:46):
first period. And then Montes on a puck that was
originally stopped by Grandma, picked up the rebound and scored
a lot.

Speaker 3 (02:14:54):
Of traffic in front of him.

Speaker 4 (02:14:55):
Didn't have the opportunity to see where the rebound went,
and there was a lot open net that Montez I
might even been able to score.

Speaker 3 (02:15:04):
That uh In apparently known goal scorer.

Speaker 2 (02:15:08):
Yeah, three in his one hundred and twenty nine game
Wisconsin career.

Speaker 3 (02:15:12):
It was actually four, but they took to it one
away from me. But well, we won't let it. We'll
just let it in the record book it says three.
That's true. Yes, I never trusted Capo anyway. So Padris
ice to put face off to the right of William Gramma.

Speaker 2 (02:15:31):
Well, this has been difficult to watch. The effort has
been there, the finish is not.

Speaker 3 (02:15:39):
Lack of production is coming back to haunt them.

Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
The old wise man Bill Howard once said, if you
don't score, you can't win. Profound, isn't it. Wisconsin wins
the defensive zone face off, Leskowski will chip it out
to center. Poorbach picked up by Latch on the attack
right wing stop slot shot, and I think Everley may
have gotten his waffler on it may have gone off

(02:16:06):
the stick of the defenseman. Lotch again steps in looking
to shoot. Get a man all balanced and shut. One
bet went off of Beverly stick behind the nets. Daniel
Latch trying to light the lamp and picking it up
and very active in the offensive zone as the senior defenseman.
Here's Wahlberg cuts to the side of the net. Headman's

(02:16:28):
now for Hong, off his stick. Dex Sheimer back in
his own end with speed, trying to get away from
Dunlap and now stops for a moment, goes d to data.
Pladachuck pressured by Hong, bouncing Puck Piedla. You're the blue
line mellenbacker now, but Carfania has got the pucket center.
Deck Hut pass across Dunlap steps in right circle backside

(02:16:48):
passed for Hong. He was defended by Piladachuck nicely, very
well along the near side handsome u Kata takes a
knee but passes out to deck Hut. His shot low
redirected in front Gramma somehow out of the nets. Oh
Long in front got spun around a little bit. Grandma
was down and then reached back behind him. Wisconsin the
other way down two. Melenbacher shoots on goal reapount Oh,

(02:17:11):
he fans at it, and here's Carfania the other way.

Speaker 3 (02:17:13):
Three on two for the Buckeyes.

Speaker 2 (02:17:15):
Lewis with it head down right wing comes in and
he shot it off the forehead of Gramma to the
far side. Collected now by Montez, but he had it
poked off his stick by Piedla. Thirteen minutes left in
the third two nothing Ohio states shol just knocked a
man down of the line.

Speaker 3 (02:17:33):
We play on Romaine now with it.

Speaker 2 (02:17:37):
Chris Romain, freshman defenseman, did not play last night. Steve
Rolick has been shuffling three or four new guys in
each night. In game four of the season, long range
shot off the end boards and backside. Powell was trying
to get to it.

Speaker 3 (02:17:53):
He was tied up.

Speaker 2 (02:17:55):
Noah Powell tied up now by Morrissey takes it tumble,
no penalty call. Morrisey up on his skates and he
comes out of there with a puck. Morrissey leads the
charge the other way to our left finley. Now can
he get around to the defenseman Romayne. No good defensive
play by Romayne to slow Finley's progress. And now Findley
and Romayne tied up behind the nets. Both are acting

(02:18:16):
trying to get a call on the charge. Here's Hong
He fans at a shot left wing or right wing,
the left hander off balance, Badgers tap it out Morrissey.
Now here's Moseley. Back and forth we go here, Ian, Yeah,
this is breakneck pace. Oh Morsey, beautiful move around. Johnson
slides the puck towards the slot, but it was deflected.
Moseley's got it. Now pull out a chuck out to

(02:18:38):
the point deck. Shimer catches with a backhand, off balance shot,
got through eperly rebound. Finley scores. They score, They finally
scored quin Finley thatchers down one here in the third.

Speaker 3 (02:18:54):
Oh, I hope that's a straw that broke the camel's back.
That's gonna be one of those goals where Finley was
wide open.

Speaker 4 (02:19:03):
I mean there was no but it must have come
from a ninety degree angle. Every made the initial stop.
There's five guys in front of the net. Three guys
from Ohio state, two guys from Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (02:19:17):
Every makes the initial save. It goes Oh, it went
between his legs and he actually kicked it over with
his back pad over to Finley, so thank goodness.

Speaker 2 (02:19:28):
Quinn Finley third goal of the season, Ben dex Sheimer
and Joe Pullatachuck with helpers at eight seventeen.

Speaker 3 (02:19:34):
Now here's Ohio state.

Speaker 23 (02:19:36):
The other way.

Speaker 2 (02:19:36):
Waffler say by Grandma, it's loosing the painting, dives back
to his left and keeps it out. Hanson Buketta around
behind the nets. Fonteyne can't reach it. Dex Sheimer spins
away from his pressure. Anthony caronw lost it behind the nets.
Centering pass broken up by Dick, taken back by Fonteyne
out to the left point. Carfunja shot that went off

(02:19:56):
Gramma behind the net and then off the end boards.
Thompson a right to stuff it in and Gramma kept
it out. Flipped out the center by Tassie and the
Badgers man on the fore check. Quinn Finley is third
of the year at eight seventeen, again from dex Sheimer
and plata Chuck. Let's see if the Badgers can add

(02:20:17):
to it. Still down to one, plenty of time left.
Lynn Mark on the charge back, can't pass it. Tassy
wide open right wing. He picks it off the wall
and shut it off the side of the nets. Lynn
Mark goes to get it, looking looking outside the left circle.
Lind Mark turns it's blocked down in front. Tassy tied
up no pedally and Linn Mark will gather in the
pucket center the Badgers have to touch up. Here's Henzler

(02:20:38):
now gets around one buck Eye, gets around another puck
crawls off his stick, but he retrieves only to lose
it and then back out to center. It comes and
Kyle kuchen And takes it for Wisconsin and he'll fire
it in the key. In the last five shifts is
the Badgers have been able to penetrate the zone. They're
not turning it over at the blue line, and if
they're going in there's usually one man right on it

(02:21:00):
back in his own zone. Ohio States changes dex Sheimer
first point of the year. On that finlay goal. He
weaves through the butt guys and carried it towards the nette.
Came off his stick, everly slides on his knees to cover.
Dex Sheimer goes into the cage, knocking it off its
pegs and a stoppage with ten oh four to go
in the third, Badgers down two to one. Boy Dexzheimer

(02:21:22):
is playing with a lot of confidence.

Speaker 4 (02:21:24):
Yeah he is, and I'm not sure that he shouldn't
have passed that off as soon as he got into
blue line. But at the speed that he was going,
everybody else had to stand up. Of course, excuse me,
slow up before they came into the blue line to
avoid the off side.

Speaker 3 (02:21:38):
So we've got ahead of steam. Let her go, Alan.

Speaker 2 (02:21:43):
Walker to take the draw instead. It's won by Max
Montes for Ohio State. Lobbed out to center, batted down
by Pilata Chuck taken by Montes. The Ohio State was
whistled for offside nine to fifty six left in the third,
the Badgers down two to one to the buck. Guys,
we'll take a one minute break. This is Badger hockey
from Yer Fields.

Speaker 26 (02:22:05):

Speaker 45 (02:22:06):

Wisconsin Badger Hockey brought to you by Cleary Building. We
protect what you value. Visit Clearybuilding dot com to see
the Cleary difference. I would think he and the Badgers
kind of we're able to breathe a little bit. When
Finley tucked in that puck that was laying in the
yawning or the crease of the yawning net just to
get on the board. It's been such a struggle putting

(02:23:33):
the puck in the net. But the Badgers are very
much alive in this game. Two to one, nine fifty
five left as Ohio State wins the center ized face
off and dumps it in.

Speaker 3 (02:23:46):
Were you relieved? Yes? I was, I could and there
was about ten thousand people that just had there was
a flood of oxygen. Oh centering past.

Speaker 2 (02:23:55):
Monteze kicked it wine, Jake Dunlap out of the Carfania
banks it off the end boards, hoping Lewis can do
something with it. He's able to hip off Pilata, chuck
pass out to the point, passed Handsome Bukata with speed.
Here comes Findley cleplan So what oh? We tried to
go five hole in every closed it.

Speaker 4 (02:24:14):
He had to get the shot off quick because he
was getting closed in on Reo and didn't have much
time to get rid.

Speaker 3 (02:24:20):
Of that shot.

Speaker 2 (02:24:21):
Damian Carfania can skate too. That's a pretty good defensive
pair there, Handsome Buketta and Carfanya and now Ohio State
dumped it in and a foot race between Karen Deck
cut the puck ricocheted off the end boards and Grandma
put his glove down and covered so a face off
to come into Wisconsin's own I hate that call.

Speaker 3 (02:24:40):
I hate that call.

Speaker 4 (02:24:42):
Why there should have been icing. It was a very
easy icing to call. Yeah, because the goaltender touched it,
but he touched it on this side of the goal line,
not the backside of the goal line.

Speaker 3 (02:24:53):
I just I disagree with the call. Every year it's called.

Speaker 2 (02:24:57):
They're kicking Tyson Dick out of the face off cir. Instead,
Christian Fitzgerald will take the draw against deck Hut. Wisconsin's
won twenty six of forty six, and they win this one.
Dick on the rush two on two with Tassy weaves
to his left, hands off, Tassy stops, looks backside an
aerial feed that Care can't get his stick on, leaping

(02:25:17):
to keep the puck alive. Fitzgerald Dick now with it
in the corner, cuts towards the goal line, and then
had it batted off his stick and shoveled up and
out through center ice. It rolls on end and Jack
Falen back to get it for Wisconsin two to one.
Ohio State Carro just over skates but knocks down Deck
cut and just took the puck from him, and now
Falan's got it with eight thirty nine to go in

(02:25:38):
the third. Buckeye scored twenty one seconds into the first
for a one to nothing lead. They scored a minute
one into the third for a two to nothing advantage
before Quinn Finley tucked in a puck to cut the
lead or deficit in half.

Speaker 3 (02:25:54):
Lynn Mark.

Speaker 2 (02:25:57):
To the corner near side in deep down annual Lodge
puck out towards the left side and Simon Tassey tries
to fight through the physicality of Fontaine. Lynn Mark there
for support. Dassy got knocked down, He's able to win
the puck behind the net. Fi Gerald turn around shot
saved by Everley Reapount oh It kicked out with the
right skate of the Ohio State goldtender. Two good chances

(02:26:19):
for Christian Fitzgerald. Lodge hits the brakes at center, tripled
team to neutralized Burnside, then met with a hip check
by Linn Mark, but the puck came free to Brent Johnson,
who backhands it deep and Burnside struggling as he heads
back to the Ohio State bench. Look Out, Badger's turn
it over pass out to the high slot mcbraer left
circle shot by Thompson, save by Grandma, rebound backhand fan

(02:26:41):
dat Now Romaine shoots one low Grandma with a safe
reapount in tight Montez No, that's Dunlap who had a
chance and Gradma kept it out. Steele by Lewis took
it away from Lodge, shoveled it off to the near side.
Jake Dunlap off the wall, dangles one man down Hansler.

Speaker 3 (02:26:55):
And rifled it wide. Hosey quick.

Speaker 2 (02:26:58):
Now Lodge try to rimming around and out, no luck.
Romaine keeps it alive. Montez can't get his stick on it.
The Badger's lotch with it slows things down a little bit.
Seven h five left in the third Badgers need one
to tie. Horbach taps back to the red line kukin
and he's forced to pass it back to the Badger's
zone and pull out of Chuck. Here's Deckheimer. Now Deckheimer
ahead to Mellenbacker toll pull shot goes off the stick

(02:27:22):
and wobbles over the outstretched glove of Everley behind the nets,
and then clanked out to center by Ohio State two
to one. Buckeye six forty four to go in the
third shifts are getting pretty short. Yep, mellen Baker, here's
Sawyer shoal on the ford check. Pallada Chuck able to
keep it alive in the attacking zone. Leskowsky picks it up.

(02:27:42):
His shot knocks Plata Chuck down. He got hit by
friendly fire and he is limping as he heads back
into the play. Ohio State across the offensive blue line,
do our right deck cut sweeps it in for hung
Hung tied up by care and now Mellenbaker lifts it
out through center and back to get it. Now his
car former wildcat in New Hampshire, Damian Carfania, second year

(02:28:05):
with the Buckeyes, played one year with New Hampshire, scored
sixteen points as a defenseman. Ohio State sends it in
care after it didn't notice a man was coming to
his right and took the puck away. Hanson dukettan now
long range shot missed the net off the end boards.
Thompson wheeling pass in front broke it up by Mellenbacher.
Leskowsky throws it to open ice and Care goes to
get it. Badgers need a change badly, Go and puck

(02:28:28):
swept towards center. Mellenbacker's got nothing left in his tank
and the Badger's Jack Falen back to get the wobbling
puck with five forty to go here in the third
two to one Ohio State schol Now Moseley shoots one
off the glove of Everley and wide. It was gonna
go wide anyway, and then the Buckeyes pitch it out
to center ice played by Henzler to get it to Moseley,

(02:28:49):
he had it poked off his stick by Smith Morris.
He gets it back for the Badgers and launch Daniel
off to Finley. Finley can't get it past the defenseman
back out of the blue line, Launch spins and throws
it towards the net. Didn't connect with a teammate puck
bat it out to center or deflect it out to
center off Dunlap, but the Badgers go to get at.
Finley now try to scoop for himself ahead past Wahlberg,

(02:29:10):
but no luck. Now Dunlap with it, his shot canceled
out by Pilatachuck with a stick inside the Wisconsin zone,
puck is loose, Moseley battling for it. Dexheimer as well
shots on goal twenty six twenty in favor of Wisconsin,
but the Buckeyes lead two to one under five minutes
left in regulation. We went to overtime last night, and

(02:29:30):
the Badger's force overtime tonight. Fuck out at neutralize it's plata.
Chuck turns and spins it back to Finley cross ice.
Tassy takes it off the wall and dumps it in.
Beverly stops it. Badgers change for their five skaters, long
lead feed at center Powell. He sweeps it deep Ramaus
care bac d for Falan your side wall. Fitzgerald tried

(02:29:55):
to headman to Dick or able to kick it out
to center Tass. He protecting right in front of the
score or table and the puck slides back into the
Buckeye zone, no icing. For ten left in regulation, Dick
on the fore check Man goes down. No penalty called
on Dick, who got away with a trip. Badger's still
battling in the offensive zone for the puck. Falan had it.

(02:30:16):
He falls down Tyson Dick now Fitzgerald holding the point
and he shut it off of Palell. Here he comes
one on one care back. Poll tried a toe pull,
but he mishandled the puck, never got a shot off
and turn it over Tyson Dick now throws a wild
pass that found its way to Wisconsin's kokanin his shot blocked,
gathered in by William Smith who's pressured, and throws it
out to center. Three thirty eight to go. On the

(02:30:36):
third tap pass ahead Lynn Mark, he kind of wavered
a little bit on his skates, throws his shoulder into Fontaine,
freed the puck for Kukan in launch.

Speaker 3 (02:30:46):
Now with it one.

Speaker 2 (02:30:47):
Timer fitz Gerald gloved by the sliding evererly to his
left and a face off to come. Three twenty five
left in the third Badger's trail Ohio State two.

Speaker 3 (02:30:58):
To one.

Speaker 4 (02:31:00):
And a null sign of panic from Ohio State even
though they gave up the goal. It's right back to
the same system, the same calling for the puck, same
knowing who your responsibility is. It's going to have to
take an individual effort one on one against a Badger
hockey player who is better offensively than that other person

(02:31:23):
guarding him as going to be defensively or a freak.

Speaker 3 (02:31:26):
Bounce as face off man.

Speaker 2 (02:31:29):
The Badgers have oh and lind Mark to take the
offensive zone face off and Sam deck Hutt will take
the draw. Lin Mark lost it to the corner. Thompson
turns to his left and lobs it out through center.
It bounces on edge and going towards William Gramma, but
Ben deck Sheimer gets there first. Wisconsin down two to one,
three fourteen left. Thompson in on the fore check able

(02:31:49):
to get the puck behind the net and chase it down.
Cuts to his right, now protects the puck, spins it
around for Burnside under his stick, held in by Hansen
View Kata than all the glass and Joe Platachuck now
has it for the Badgers. Off the glass. Bad bounce
for the Badgers taken away by the Buckeyes. Pladachuck slides
over into flex it off of long stick and Wisconsin

(02:32:10):
hemmed in a little bit here. With time winding down
to forty five left, lind Mark gets out of his
own Horbock across the line, cuts towards the slot, looks
backside and Kukin was defended nicely by Burnside steel by
Horbock right back behind it that Jack Hornback turns tries
to go up high, almost beat Everly's shorter side. He
came up out of his crouch, made the save and

(02:32:33):
then able to hug it to his body and get
a face off.

Speaker 4 (02:32:36):
Yeah, that was a good play because there was a
massive humanity in front of the net. I think that's
I love that term, a massive humanity in front of
the net. Yeah, you just get in a situation.

Speaker 3 (02:32:47):
Where as soon as Horbock saw that the goaltender was
down and the only opening was on the short side
up high, Jack did a good job of getting it,
but just on the blocker or the shoulder.

Speaker 2 (02:33:00):

Speaker 2 (02:33:14):
So Mike Castings and his staff take a time out
to draw up an offensive zone face off play, and
I would assume they'd empty their net for an extra attacker.

Speaker 4 (02:33:23):
There's already six guys out on the ice, and uh yeah,
and William Grammy is kind of sitting by the door.
He's isn't not like, okay, I'm all sit over here
for the last couple of minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:33:38):
Yeah, let's pause ten seconds for station identification ten seconds
for a legal ID.

Speaker 3 (02:33:43):
You're listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey.

Speaker 1 (02:33:47):
Badgers play here.

Speaker 6 (02:33:48):
This is your All Badger's Sports Station thirteen ten WIBA, Madison.

Speaker 2 (02:33:59):
Brian and Parrin here at the Coal Center, Wisconsin trailing
two to one, two thirty three left. Badgers likely will
empty their net for a sixth skater to try to
get the game tying goal against the Ohio State Buckeyes
and sophomore goaltender Christopher Everley.

Speaker 4 (02:34:20):
Not one hundred percent sure that from my perspective, I
would do it this early, but it's better now than never.
You're relatively rested after the timeout. Yeah, got a good
guy taking the draw. Kevin Morrissey will do the honors.
Finley's out there, Tassy, Moseley and Morrissey won the draw

(02:34:41):
and it went on goals slowly. Every in position stopped
it and covered. Dex Shimer and Pladachuck are the defenseman
with those four forwards I just mentioned a moment ago
and Morrissey the freshman taking the draw against Sam Deckhut,
the sophomore from San Diego, Floris. He again tries to

(02:35:02):
win it ahead. Instead it's pitched past Ben Dexzheimer, and
he hustles after it.

Speaker 3 (02:35:07):
Nathan Lewis on him again.

Speaker 2 (02:35:09):
The Badgers with an empty net, an extra attacker, needing
one to tie, two twenty to play.

Speaker 3 (02:35:14):
Oh you want to see a five man wall, take
a look at this one.

Speaker 46 (02:35:17):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (02:35:17):
Finley dumped it in and took a pop to the
face by Nathan Lewis.

Speaker 3 (02:35:22):
No penalty.

Speaker 2 (02:35:22):
Buck loose in the buckeye zone, Tassy can't reach it.
Platachuck skates down to try to keep it alive. Here's
some support from Moseley, whips it around and hustling after it.
Morrisy on the right wing snaps off a past left
side to Pulatachuck, looks go line left, Tassy back to
Plateachuck his shot off the stick of Lewis.

Speaker 3 (02:35:41):
Tassy's got it back to plada Chuck.

Speaker 2 (02:35:43):
Dexheimer's got it one forty five left in the third
Badger's down one. Poldachuck's shot blocked by Hanson. Buketta now
back out to Pladachuck as the Badgers hold his owne.
Dex Sheimer fakes a shot. Now Finley out high pushed
low reed, directed up over the cage. Tassy retrieves out
to Poladachuck left point. Finley wants it again. Tex Himer's
got it. His pass to Finley goes all the way

(02:36:04):
to the corner. Morrissey spins it around to the left wing.
Now pull out of Chuck, who refeeds below the goal line.
But the Buckeyes get there in Carfona hard rim around
off the dasher and it rolls back into the Wisconsin zone,
nowhere near the net. One fifteen to go in the third,
Badgers with an extra attacker trying to get the game
time goal here in Madison.

Speaker 3 (02:36:24):
I fell sorry for Molesley. He just took a beating
down there in front of the net.

Speaker 2 (02:36:29):
Sconsin just changed fresh skaters out there. Daniel Lodge left
right now to his left, gets around the Buckeyes and
tries to dump it in. His attempt went off the
stick of a Buckeye and over the glass into the mesh.
So an offensive zone face off coming up four Wisconsin
and fifty four point eight seconds left here in the third,

(02:36:50):
Ohio State leads two to one, and.

Speaker 3 (02:36:52):
This is where you print.

Speaker 4 (02:36:53):
Linn mark out and hopefully he can win this draw
with fifty four seconds left. Even if you get win
the drug, don't have firm possession. You're in a situation
where at least you can go and get the puck
with the extra.

Speaker 2 (02:37:06):
Man as the attacker. Actually Fitzgerald to take the draw
and he'll go against Ryan Gordon. They have Lynn Mark
out there if necessary, Isaac Dick as well.

Speaker 3 (02:37:16):
Low right there you go. Yep, there's where he's going.

Speaker 2 (02:37:19):
Ohio State won the face off, though out near his side.
Burnside able to shovel it out to set her Kuchen
and will beat Joe Dunlap to the puck, but he
has to fend him off and is forced way deep
into the Wisconsin's own forty seconds to play. Badger's down
one lodged with it slowly ahead to Hensler. Now logan
Hensler across the line freshman defenseman to the slot, lost

(02:37:39):
the puck and banked all the way down by the Buckeyes.
It will not be on net. It will be icing
on Ohio State. With twenty six point one seconds left
on the clock, Mike Hastings upset. He's pointing to the clock.
The official timekeeper let a few tenths of a second
go off the clock, and Mike was not at all happy.
About it, and I think the referees are going to

(02:38:01):
go take a look at video replay to put the
right time on the clock. And the fans that are
here tonight ten thousand plus come to their feet as
the events management staff tries to get them fired up
and encourage this Wisconsin squad even more.

Speaker 3 (02:38:21):
Well, I'm assuming that Ohio State's going to take a
time out. No, I guess they won't because why would
they if the referee is uh yeah in the penalty box.
Got your rest now? Right now?

Speaker 2 (02:38:37):
The clock says twenty six point one seconds left in
the third Buckeyes lead two to one.

Speaker 3 (02:38:43):
Are they putting time on the clock? Don't see it?

Speaker 2 (02:38:47):
They're going to change it twenty seven point three, so
one point two second difference. Face off to the right
of Christopher Every Badger's trail by one. Morrissey to take
the face off against deck Hutt leans in, but deck
Hut wins it and a hard rim round and a
bad bounce. It's gonna slide all the way down to
the Wisconsin zone that should be icing, it's not cold,

(02:39:08):
and now here's Finley with it. Fifteen seconds he gains
the red line one on two. Can't get a past
Deck Hut. He'll throw it towards the empty net, but missed.
Dex Sheimer hustles after it icing seven point nine seconds left.

Speaker 3 (02:39:22):
Plenty of time, face off again to the right of
every Yeah, it's not.

Speaker 4 (02:39:29):
Quick shots, it's not quick passes in a confined area.
It's one man from Ohio State is being assigned to
just chase the puck and everybody else is locking on
to somebody and they've been successful two times.

Speaker 3 (02:39:43):
To get it.

Speaker 2 (02:39:46):
All right, Morrissey to take the draw, Thinley leaning in Palada,
chuck their Tassy top of the left circle, mostly in
the slot, and Morrissey wins it back to deck Shimer.

Speaker 3 (02:39:55):
Five seconds here's.

Speaker 2 (02:39:56):
A blast by Tassy, went off Hanson view Kata down
by Thompson.

Speaker 3 (02:40:01):
Tenth of a second left. That's it.

Speaker 2 (02:40:03):
The Ohio State Buckeyes, like last year, come to Madison
and beat the Badgers twice, an overtime winner last night
for OSU a regulation two to one win. Here tonight,
the Buckeyes take five of six points from Wisconsin to
start this Big Ten hockey season.

Speaker 4 (02:40:26):
Yeah, it's frustrating, but I can't say that the Badgers
played poorly. They just played the same style as Ohio
State does, and then you get into a situation where
unfortunately they didn't score as many goals. I mean, it's
just a simple process. But the fact of the matter
being is that I like the intensity both nights. It's

(02:40:48):
unfortunate that they had to lose both goals or both games.

Speaker 2 (02:40:51):
Badgers still have twenty two conference games remaining there next
in the Big Ten will be November first and second
at Notre Dame. The Ohio State buck Guys improved a
three oho to one two and oh in the league.
The Badgers fall to one in three to start this
season in oh and two in conference play two to one,
Ohio State knocks off Wisconsin back in one minute. This

Speaker 2 (02:42:24):
Once again the Badgers with a lot of effort but
a rough start to the game, giving up a goal
twenty one seconds in. The Buckeyes then score early in
the third for a two nothing advantage. Quinn Finley finally
took the lid off the cage with a tap in
goal to cut the deficit to one at eight seventeen
of the third, but the Badgers could not get the

(02:42:46):
equalizer in full to Ohio State two to one. Back
to back two to one victories for the Buckeyes and
the Badgers scoring woes continue, only seven goals in four
games so far for Wisconsin. So Wisconsin falls to zero
to two in the league and despite out shooting the

On with I Parn Bryan Posik here at the Cole
Center in Madison. Ohio State comes to Madison and takes
five of six points to start the Big Ten season.
Let's name our three stars of the game, brought to
you every night by Everlight Solar.

Speaker 23 (02:46:52):
Who do you have you?

Speaker 4 (02:46:53):
Well, this is kind of the hardest one that I've
had in quite some time. And I looked at it
and I thought, well, you know, if anybody's going to
get a star, it should be the Ohio State defensive
corps because those six defensemen or seven if you if
you take a look at their rotation of the seventh
man in really bottled up and really man handled Wisconsin

(02:47:16):
Badger forwards in particular down low, and for whatever reason,
they were able to make breakout passes that we haven't
seen anybody do against Wisconsin, you know, quite some time.
So I gave the entire offensive or defensive corps for
Ohio State the number three star. Number two star I
gave to Finley just for his goal, but he was

(02:47:38):
electrifying anytime that he got to Poka. I was pleased
to see he played with that much emotion. And the
number one star I gave to two defensemen, Loatch and Dexheimer.
It seems like the only time the Badgers got into
the zone clear was when either Latch carried it in
or Dexheimer carried it in. And Dexheimer did something tonight

(02:47:58):
that I haven't seen in a while. He had more
block shots than any other defenseman, so blocking shots, playing
well in his defensive zone in particular. But when he
lugs the puck, they don't get it away from him,
and it's great. He's the He was the one tool defensively.
He and Lotch were able to carry through the neutral zone.
People would stand them up and they were able to

(02:48:20):
chip it in or at least get a shot on net.
So the third star would go to Deckheimer Lotch, the
pair defensive pair that provided most of the offense.

Speaker 3 (02:48:29):
For the night.

to one to three and zero to two in the league.
Our energizing performance brought to you by a Lion Energy

Speaker 3 (02:52:18):
Well?

Speaker 4 (02:52:19):
Actually, I mean I think it energized everybody with even
though there was only seven minutes left in the third period.
But when Quinn Finley scored the goal, it really it
just like as you mentioned, there was just a huge
sigh of relief that yes, we have beaten him, but secondly,
we know how to do it now, you know, just
get dirty in front of the net, take some shots,

(02:52:40):
all the rest of that kind of stuff. And for
about the next seven or eight shifts, the Badgers were
all over Ohio State. So he put the energy in it.
Even though he was an easy tap in open that goal.
It was the one play of the game where the
Badgers just mentally went from what the heck do we
have to do to solve this to oh, okay, that's

(02:53:01):
how we do it.

Speaker 3 (02:53:02):

Speaker 2 (02:55:32):
Right, Karen Madison, Wisconsin falls to Ohio State by the
final score of two to one, and we'll check scores
from around the country here as we wait to hear
from head coach Mike Hastings after this difficult weekend against
the Ohio State Buckeyes. And let's run down some of
the scores that we have here. Ian non conference play.

(02:55:55):
Alaska Anchorage beat Dave Shayak's Northern Michigan Wildcats five to three.
Of course, Shayak used to coach the Sea Wolves. UMass
Lowell swept Colgate with a two to one win. August Stana,
which beat Omaha last night two to one. In Omaha,
has a three nothing lead on the Mavericks tonight. I
believe that's still in the second period of play. That's

(02:56:17):
a pretty impressive stone Hill, which knocked off Lake Superior
State last night and sue Saint Marie while the Lakers
lead three to nothing right now, that might be a final,
but I have not yet seen that.

Speaker 3 (02:56:29):
I haven't seen it.

Speaker 2 (02:56:30):
Yeah, three nothing. I know Lake Superior State was on top. Hey,
let's go downstairs. We'll get to some more scores here
in just a bit. Junior defense been Ben deck Sheimer
kind enough to join us here on the postgame show, Ben,
Bryan Posik and Ian parent upstairs.

Speaker 3 (02:56:43):
And I know this is a tough weekend, but on
a positive side of things.

Speaker 2 (02:56:48):
What can you build off here as we move along
your four games into a thirty four game regular season.

Speaker 46 (02:56:53):
I think our second halfs have been good. Our starts
are something we need to get a lot better at.
But looking at the positives or shoot the puck, we're
just not getting it in the net. And I think
it's early and we just got to keep building on
the good where it flushed the bat every weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:57:07):
Yeah, it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:57:08):
I mean the shots they come from everywhere, but it's
missing by a hair or hitting a goal post or
you know what I mean. I mean, if you you
probably you playing up hockey, You're going to go through
times like this, right for sure.

Speaker 46 (02:57:20):
I mean every team gets a little snake bitting every
once in a while, and I think it's how we
respond afterwards and eventually they'll go in.

Speaker 2 (02:57:28):
You know, you were carrying the puck, rushing the puck,
that's what you do, and you do it well. Daniel
Lotch is doing it a little bit more too.

Speaker 3 (02:57:34):
The defenseman.

Speaker 2 (02:57:35):
If the forwards aren't going to score, the defenseman need
to chip in. And you guys are trying, aren't you.

Speaker 46 (02:57:40):
Yeah, we're just trying to funnel pucks to the net
and hope they can hit something or just go straight in.

Speaker 4 (02:57:45):
My impression of it is is that if if you
were a lotch er didn't have it, you weren't going
to get out of the zone. That this kind of
the way it worked. You went coast to coast two
or three times. But let me honestly say this the
best part about your game tonight. You have more block
shots than you did have shots.

Speaker 23 (02:58:02):
Well I'm trying.

Speaker 3 (02:58:06):
I was like, seriously, we had three block shots, but
he only had two shots on net. Something's right right.

Speaker 2 (02:58:11):
Here, right, I know this is tough, and I appreciate
you coming out here. This is a long season, right,
so you know. And Mike Castings, your coach, it said
it prior to the game. You know, maybe guys are
squeezing sticks and what have you. But stick with it,
I suppose was his message here tonight. Right, Good things
will happen.

Speaker 46 (02:58:30):
Yep, we just got like I said, stick with the
good and flush the bad. Come back to work on Monday.

Speaker 2 (02:58:36):
All right, Then you get to go to Denver to
play the defending national champs. If you don't get up
for that, you got a serious trouble.

Speaker 46 (02:58:42):
Right seriously, Yeah, We're really excited for that one, and
hopefully we can get six points.

Speaker 3 (02:58:48):
All right, would be nice. Ben, thanks for coming out.
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (02:58:51):
Yep, thanks, guys, You're welcome. Ben dex Sheimer downstairs. Obviously
short on words, not a lot to talk about and
talk much anyway. He's actually a very quiet kid. Yeah,
but yeah, difficult obviously for the Badgers who fall to
zero to two in the league and one and three
in conference play. We'll get to head coach Mike Castings

(02:59:12):
in just a bit when he gets out here. But
let's see, let's go back to you know, last night,
Minnesota State blew a two to nothing lead in the
third period and lost to North Dakota three to two. Tonight,
the Mavericks beat the Fighting Hawks three nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:59:27):
Yeah, and it doesn't surprise me, I guess because if
you want to talk about style, North Dakota Minnesota State
very much similar in style, and I would venture to
say that there are a lot of bruised and beat
up bodies in that game, because that's two very very
physical hockey programs.

Speaker 2 (02:59:49):
Also Lyndon Wood and air Force. I do not see
a score on that one. It was last night to
to two at one point. I didn't see the final
score of that one. I know Sacred Heart and U
mass were playing, and Massachusetts up six to one. That's
in the third period of play of the Mini Men
lost by a goal. Last night, Providence completed a sweep

(03:00:10):
of Arizona State with a two to one victory. Union
swept Mercy Hurst, winning three to two. Ferris State won
at Saint Lawrence last night one nothing. Tonight the Bulldog's
getting beat by the Saints eight zip.

Speaker 3 (03:00:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:00:23):
Also Maine in Quinnipiac. Do you see an update on
that one? Last night the Black Bears beat the Bobcats
two to one in the third.

Speaker 3 (03:00:32):
What do you got? That's exactly what I have for
four in the third period. All right.

Speaker 2 (03:00:36):
Two nationally ranked top ten teams Niagara five to four
overtime went over RPI. Also top rank Denver a two
to nothing lead against Northeastern. The Pioneers won last night
five to two. A Boston buck Berger had a couple
of assists for the Pioneers last night. You know, they
lost seven of their top ten scores, but they still

(03:00:58):
are loaded and Wisconsin. We'll face the defending national champs
next weekend in Denver downstairs head coach Mike Hastings kind
enough to join us here after a tough loss and
a tough weekend against Ohio State last night, similar to tonight, Mike,
just not finding a way to finish, Is that correct?

Speaker 29 (03:01:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 23 (03:01:17):
Not good enough.

Speaker 15 (03:01:18):
There's really no excuse, as fellaws. That's just and I'm
that's not on the players. I mean, we're all in
this together, you know. We just we've we've got a
lot of work to do and we don't have a
lot of time to do it. We're gonna be going
on the road to a place that's difficult to play.
And you know, one thing I talked about with the
guys before I came to see you guys and chat

(03:01:39):
with you is we have to stick together. Yeah, that's
the only way that this thing gets done. And we've
got to build it brick by brick. This week, we've
got four practices before we go back and get judged again.
And as I just said, Homestown was not productive, not
productive enough, and we've just got to continue.

Speaker 2 (03:01:59):
To get better. Yeah, I mean, so much positivity and
excitement leading up to the season four games into a
season shouldn't change the good vibes that your team had
in the chemistry that you built, dating all the way
back to June, right.

Speaker 15 (03:02:12):
Yeah, I mean, and that's I just grabbed decks after
he was done talking to you. And again, the only
way that this is going to get done is together,
you know. And it's a commitment level that has to
be raised, that bar, and that's something that we have
to start on Monday.

Speaker 33 (03:02:27):
We're gonna get him Sunday.

Speaker 15 (03:02:28):
Off because we have to and get back to work
Monday morning.

Speaker 3 (03:02:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:02:33):
Again, quality chances, were you seeing more NetFront presence trying
to take the goalie's eyes away a little bit? Yeah?

Speaker 15 (03:02:39):
But I mean, guys, whether it's finding a rebound or
you know, to me, it's making a play and being
connected our group, you know, going all the way back
to last year and the style of play that you
want to play. It's connected from your end through the
neutral zone into the offensive zone. And right now we're
not connected as a group of five. You know, we're

(03:03:00):
getting opportunities, but they're one and done's and you've got
to combine a mentality that's going to be extremely hard,
but it's got to be one where you know where
your teammates are and then.

Speaker 16 (03:03:11):
You got to go let it hang out and go play.

Speaker 15 (03:03:15):
And and right now we're just we're not connected enough,
whether it's offensively, and we start pushing a little bit,
you know, start we you know, we make a young mistake,
we get beat back to the net and it's one
nothing before some people are done getting their popcorn. And
and that's something that just can't be. That can't be
something that's a d in our DNA. And so we'll

(03:03:39):
own it and learn from it and move on because
that's what you have to do.

Speaker 3 (03:03:43):
You could use a little luck too.

Speaker 15 (03:03:46):
Yeah, you know what I'm I know you're probably the
same as me. Poh, I think you create your own luck.
And again, uh, you know when you get when you
get punched in the gut, as this has been for
us for for four games. You've you had a look
in the mirror, and I told the guys, I said,
one of the biggest things we have to do is
we can't point fingers.

Speaker 3 (03:04:06):
We have to point thumbs.

Speaker 15 (03:04:07):
And that starts with myself, for staff, and go back
to work on Monday and make sure we take some
steps to becoming a better hockey team.

Speaker 3 (03:04:14):
All right, Mike, thanks for your time. We'll see on Monday.

Speaker 15 (03:04:17):
Okay, all right, I take you sure.

Speaker 2 (03:04:18):
That's head coach Mike Hastings coming out after the Badgers
two one loss to Ohio State. Buckeyes take five of
six points, so Ohio State in first place in the
Big Ten. This is the only conference series that has been.

Speaker 3 (03:04:30):
Played so far. Badgers are in last.

Speaker 2 (03:04:33):
Yeah, right, that doesn't mean it's going to end that
way for sure. But other games that tonight involving Big
Ten teams six rank Minnesota swept Minnesota Duluth with a
five to one victory tonight. Twelve goals on the weekend
for the Golden Gophers. Jimmy Clark, who had three assists
last night, had a goal and an assist tonight. Jimmy
Snuggerud also scored for Minnesota, so the Gophers off to

(03:04:56):
a three and one start. Michigan would shut out thirt
team thrankes Saint Cloud State last night got shut out
tonight for nothing, so the Huskies earned a split against
tenth thranked Wolverines, and Notre Dame was handed its first
loss of the season after a three and zero start,
losing it home to Alaska one to nothing. The Nanooks
win for the first time in six games this season.

(03:05:19):
So Michigan State idle this weekend, so is Penn State.
So the Badgers are one and three overall, Minnesota three
and one, Notre Dame three and one, Ohio State three
to zero to one, Penn State two and one, Michigan three,
two and one in Michigan State three and one so far.
And you know, the Big Ten had the best non

(03:05:41):
conference record of any league a year ago, something like
seventy percent winning percentage.

Speaker 3 (03:05:47):
So far this year, it hasn't been the case. A
lot of really good players left this league.

Speaker 2 (03:05:52):
Yeah, a lot of good players return, and a lot
of good players have joined this league, but yeah, not everybody.
You know, everybody's taking a bump so far, except for
Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (03:06:01):
Well, you get into a situation where in talking with
some of my pro scout friends, they say, the one
thing that's so different about the Big Ten this year
is that goal scoring is going to be at a
premium and that's why you're going to see two one
games and one nothing games and three two games and all.

Speaker 3 (03:06:19):
The rest of that stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:06:20):
Because you're right, there was such a significant loss of
offensive talent from the Big Ten that it's a situation
where it's really, really tough to replace those people, and
they said the only thing that can save some programs
will be the transfer portal. Because you're not expecting a

(03:06:41):
young player like Hensler to come in and score twenty goals. Well,
your legitimate freshmen are not going to come in and
score twenty goals the way one of your seniors did
or one of your kids who signed pro did.

Speaker 2 (03:06:53):
So the Badgers fall here to Ohio State by the
final score of two to one. We've got highlights after
this two minute break. This is bad your hockey from.

UW Health remarkable.

Speaker 22 (03:09:12):
Well.

Speaker 2 (03:09:12):
It started out as a good day for Wisconsin athletics.
The football team won at Northwestern twenty three to three
for its third straight win. Badger's now five and two,
three and one in the Big Ten and host third
ranked Penn State next Saturday night at six thirty. Do
you think this place will be hopping next Saturday?

Speaker 23 (03:09:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:09:29):
I got a feeling that you get into a situation
where there were a lot of people after the Alabama
fiasco that jumped off the bandwagon. But you know, you
win two in a row, both on the road, both
in against Big Ten schools. Yeah, the bandwagon's going to
fill up again.

Speaker 3 (03:09:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:09:49):
Top rank Wisconsin women's hockey team, after a sweep at
third ranked Minnesota, fell behind three nothing today and then
rallied to win four to three. Casey O'Brien the game
winning goal with about six minutes left. Badgers scored three
unanswered goals in the third to improve to eight to
OH four to oh in the WCCHA. Caroline Harvey the

(03:10:09):
primary assist on all four goals for the Badgers, who
will play host to Bimigi State Thursday and Friday nights
next week at Lebon Arena. Here the Wisconsin men's hockey
team hoping to earn a split if you will, against
Ohio State to start the Big Ten season. Badgers fell
in overtime last night, two to one. Here are the

(03:10:30):
plays of the game on the Badgers Sports Network. Ohio
State in the attacking zone, long range rister by Hanson
Bukata redirected into the back of the net by Riley
Thompson and twenty one seconds in Ohio State leads won nothing.

Speaker 3 (03:10:49):
Mosley's got it now, pull outa chuck out to the point.

Speaker 2 (03:10:52):
Dex Shimer catches with a backhand off ballan shot got
through beverly reboundily scores.

Speaker 8 (03:10:58):
They score.

Speaker 3 (03:11:00):
They finally scored Quin Finley, Badgers down one. Here in
the third.

Speaker 2 (03:11:07):
Quinn Finley third goal of the season. Ben Deck Sheimer
and Joe polatachuck with helpers at eight seventeen. Now here's
Ohio State the other way Waffler State by Grandma, it's
loosing the painting, dives back to his left and keeps
it out all right. Morrissey to take the draw, Finley
leaning in Polada Chuck there, Tassy top of the left circle,
mostly in the slot, and Morrissey wins it back to

(03:11:30):
deck Sheimmer five seconds. Here's a blast by Tassy, went
off Hanson View Katta, rundown by Thompson.

Speaker 3 (03:11:37):
Tenths of a second left. That's it.

Speaker 2 (03:11:39):
The Ohio State buck Eyes, like last year, come to
Madison and beat the Badgers twice.

Speaker 3 (03:11:49):
Those are your plays of the game.

Speaker 2 (03:11:50):
Wisconsin got off to a rough start, gave up a
goal twenty one seconds in Riley, Thompson scored his first
of the season from Aiden Hanson View Ukata, and Damian
Carfania won nothing. Buckeyes only eleven total shots on goal
in the opening period, six for Ohio State against William Gramma,
Christopher Everley and goal for OSU, and Everly stopped all

(03:12:14):
eleven shots he faced in the second period, while the
Badgers gave up only two shots on goal, but after
two it was still one nothing Ohio State and then
the teams had twenty three shots on goal in the
third Ohio State took a two nothing lead on Max
Montees goal at one oh one, a rebound goal, his

(03:12:35):
third of the weekend, his fifth and four games this season.
The Heartland, Wisconsin native, assisted by defenseman Nathan McBrayer and
freshman forward Nathan Lewis, so one oh one into the
third Ohio State at a two nothing lead. Ian they
were really playing well. At that point. You could tell
that the air was coming out of the tires of
the Wisconsin Badgers. The juice wasn't there. But finally Wisconsin

(03:12:58):
got on the board as Quinn Finley tapped in a
puck that was laying in the crease and dex Sheimer
shot that one that was hit the goaltender and laid there.
Joe Polotachuck also with an assist at eight to seventeen.
Finley's third goal in four games made it two to one.
Badgers kept trying and kept trying, emptied their net for
an extra attacker with two forty five left, lost a

(03:13:20):
couple of face offs in the offensive zone. Buckey's iced
it three or four times, but the Badgers just couldn't
solve Everley but once and they fall here tonight two
to one.

Speaker 4 (03:13:29):
I'll tell you that shows the confidence that coach Rollick
and his staff have in their defensive coverage, whether there's
a goaltender pulled and Wisconsin has an extra attacker or not. Yeah,
you know you're told to try and dump it to
open space, but you know, don't get too aggressive. They
didn't care. They just shot it down the ice. We'll
take a face off, we don't care. It's going to

(03:13:51):
take five seconds for that defense when to get back
to the hash marks. That's five seconds off the clock.
They are so good defensively, especially on faceoffs tonight that yeah,
I agree with their confidence level.

Speaker 2 (03:14:06):
As far as Ohio State's concern, they have finished the
game with twenty shots on goal. They had only forty
three shots on goal all weekend. Buckeyes only scored four,
but the Badgers only scored two this weekend. The Badgers
with twenty nine shots on goal this evening. One penalty
two minutes against Wisconsin. Two penalties for four minutes for

(03:14:28):
the Buckeyes, but the Badgers went oh for two on
the power play, now three of nineteen on the man advantage.
Ohio State went oh for one. The Buckeyes oh for
nine on the power play. So far this season, Wisconsin
won twenty nine of fifty three face offs. Owen Lynmark
ten out of fourteen in the face off circle. He's
been dynamite in the draws this season and also block shots.

(03:14:49):
The Badgers had nine, Ohio State had sixteen for a
two game total of forty. The Badgers have had eighty
four shots blocked in four games so far this season. Yeah,
as the goal scorer you were in college, Yeah, how
do you get shots through?

Speaker 3 (03:15:06):
I mean, you've got to move the puck side to side.
That's the biggest issue.

Speaker 4 (03:15:10):
And when you have a good defensive system like Ohio
State does, you come down, you fake the shot and
all of a sudden you look up and everybody else
is covered, so you might as well try and throw
it on net. But nine times out of ten, those
big bodies from Ohio State were standing right there and
it either went off their stick, off their shin pad,
off their belly, off their head, whatever the case may be.

(03:15:32):
And you get into a situation where that becomes frustrating, sure,
and whether coach likes to admit it or not, when
frustration sets in, it's a hard variable to get out
of the minds of anybody from Badger hockey, and I
would sum it up by this weekend with the very
few goals that were scored, I can't even remember the

(03:15:53):
last pretty goal, you know where it was a great
individual effort, you beat the goaltender or whatever. Every goal
that was scored this weekend was a hard work, muck tip, deflection,
whatever the.

Speaker 3 (03:16:06):
Case may be.

Speaker 2 (03:16:08):
As far as individually is concerned. You look at Hanson Buketta.
He's blocked three of the sixteen shots the Buckeyes block tonight,
the most shots on goal for anybody. There were a
handful that had two For Ohio, Stating and Thompson and
Montes both lit the lamp well. Every stopped twenty eight shots, everly,

(03:16:28):
improves his record to two to zero this season. Meanwhile,
for the Badgers, Christian Fitzgerald, Jack Horbach and Daniel Lotch
all had three shots on goal. Ben dex Sheimer block
three shots. Quinn Finley the only one to hit the
back of the net. William Gramma made eighteen saves in
fifty seven minutes and twenty three seconds. He gave up

(03:16:48):
only two goals, but Grandma suffers his first collegiate loss
His record this season is one to one. E seven
hundred and eighty two fans came to watch this game tonight.
Ohio State improves to three zero to one. The Badger's
fall to one in three two to one. The Buckeyes
victorious tonight, and we'll wrap up our broadcast in a moment.

Speaker 3 (03:17:11):
This is Badger Hockey from Learfield.

redirect In front of the goodness, there's William Crama batting
a shot attempt out of midair with a stick, but
the punk floated back near side in Montez put it
in the yawning met third goal of the weekend for
the Heartland, Wisconsin native.

Born hockey players Rob Andrenga, Joe Pavelski, Adam Burrish.

Speaker 3 (03:19:52):
We can go on and on, but I'm kind of
tired of Max Montes. Rikaa has that sandpaper attitude to
kind of wear on me. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:20:01):
You might be right, Yeah, but I've also been in
a situation where like when I was a player, the
closest thing to home was me when we played at
North Dakota, and Bob Johnson used to say, how come
you play so well at North Dakota. Well, it was
the only time my parents ever got to see me.

Speaker 3 (03:20:18):
That's the reason why. But you know, it's right and
for him to have success in his home state yea sweetness.

Speaker 2 (03:20:26):
Yeah, there were for him sixty plus family and friends
here to watch Max Montes.

Speaker 3 (03:20:30):
And why I didn't have that many in my hometown?
Would I have that many? Yeah?

Speaker 23 (03:20:35):
All right.

Speaker 2 (03:20:36):
So Wisconsin will hit the road for non conference series
against the best team in the country a year ago,
the Denver Pioneers, who you know, they lost seven of
their top ten scores, but they bring back their top
returning scorer in Jack Divine. They've got one of the
best defenseman, if not the best offensive defenseman in the country,
and Zebe Bullyam. Also, Matt Davis won four games in

the NCAA Tournament last year, allowed only three goals. The
goaltender back for Denver and the Badgers we'll see you know.
It's a reciprocal of a two year deal that actually
started here in Madison back in twenty nineteen. So the
Badgers finally going back to Denver to play an old
WCCHA rival at Magnus Arena, and I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (03:21:19):
I love going out. It is it's a cultural experience.
I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 4 (03:21:24):
When we first made our trips, and I was a
snot and old seventeen year old freshman and we go
to Colorado College and go to Denver.

Speaker 3 (03:21:32):
I'll be honest with you, my eyes were huge and
I was in awe of all the stuff that went
on there.

Speaker 2 (03:21:38):
Hey, thanks for your work this weekend, and we will
see you again in a few weeks. Yeah, after the
Badgers go to Denver and then Notre Dame. Ian will
be back on the air with us when a team
called Minnesota comes to town November eighth.
