Speaker 4 (01:02):
Good from the Cole Center, where we are one week
away from the official start of the twenty twenty four
twenty twenty five Badger's basketball season. Last year, Wisconsin ended
the year with a finish in the Great Eight of
the WNIT. Tonight, it's an exhibition tune up against Steven's
Point before the season starts for real next Tuesday, it's
(01:23):
time for Badger's basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Well coming up behind the pregame show, we'll hear.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
From assistant coach brow Jarrow talk about the off season
for the Badgers and what the team has looked like
at practice. We'll go spin around the Big Ten, get
you caught up with some offseason news in the Big
Ten Conference. Also a deeper look at this year's Badger's
team in the Badger Notebook.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
But when we come back, we'll hear.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
From Wisconsin head coach Marissa Mosley. This is Badger Basketball
from Learfield and welcome back to the Cole Center. It's
Badger women's basketball as the Badger's face. Steven's pointed an
(02:08):
exhibition here tonight, joined by Wisconsin head coach Marissa Mosley.
What was your off season like after the final horn
last year in the w n I T run.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
It was a lot of recuperating because it was probably
the longest that we've gone definitely since I've been here.
It was a lot of recruiting, and then it was
a lot of getting back into the swing of things
and kind of trying to I'm going to keep with ours,
regroup and reunite this new team that we have to
(02:40):
make sure that we're ready for tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
What excites you the most about this new team that
you have our depth?
Speaker 5 (02:47):
You know, I think we and our experience of our
older We finally have older players who have had experience
that we can rely on. And then we have depth
of some of our new players, some of our returners.
And there's just a hunger and the culture that we've
been buildings as I got here. I really feel like
it's starting to materialize and we're seeing kind of the
(03:09):
we're reaping the benefits of that so far.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Talking with Wisconsin head coach Marissa Mosley, the Badger's Face
Stevens point here tonight at the Cole Center. Now, a
couple of these new faces on the team, two transfers
specifically point out Carter McRae and Test Myers.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
What do you like the most about each of their games?
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Well, I think both of them are coming. They chose
Wisconsin because for Tests it's her one opportunity to play
at a much higher level for one year and for
her to take the winning ways and her kind of
skill set and be able to really enhance what we're doing,
and that we had a need and she's able to
(03:46):
build out immediately. And then for Carter, it's an opportunity
for her to play our last three years at the
highest level possible, knowing that she can capitalize on an
incredible freshman season. And we laughed at big ten mey days.
We called her kind of like a unicorn. And then
she's also a dog, so like a unicorn dog like
she gets after it, but she's kind of like you
(04:07):
don't see players like her. She's not that tall, but
what she can do and the way she rebounds and
how tenacious she is, are you just gonna have a phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Career here excided for both of them. Thanks for the time.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Yeah, absolutely, thank Sean, said.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Coach Marissa Mosley. Keep it right here more on the
pregame show. Next, this is Badger Basketball from their field.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Back Cole Center.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
As the pregame show continued, the Badgers playing in an
exhibition game hero this evening against w Stevens Point joined
by Wisconsin assistant coach fro Gerald.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
First of all, welcome to Madison.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Can you tell our listeners a little bit about how
you were able to join the Badgers?
Speaker 6 (04:45):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
First of all, happy to be here. Quite simply, a
position became open, I applied and went through the process
and coach mostly gave me this, this wonderful opportunity.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
And now you're here, first exhibition game of this season.
How exciting are exhibition games for coaches?
Speaker 7 (05:06):
You know, there's there's an excitement to it because it's
the first you finally get a chance to play against
someone else. You know, we've been playing against each other
since June now, so you're just kind of ready to
see all that you've been working on for you know,
for months, you know, see it against someone who doesn't
know what's coming, so to speak. So there's that level
of excitement because it's kind of in the case things
(05:26):
are getting started.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Is this kind of how you prepare for exhibition as
compared to a regular season game. It's more about you
than it necessarily is about them.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
And that was a lot about of what coach Mosey's
pregame talk was about, about us setting the tone and
not just for today before the season.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Finally, what us stood out to you the most about
this team through some of the preseason practices, our talent.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
And our depth.
Speaker 7 (05:49):
You know we we and our versatility. I think we
can play a lot of different styles, but the talent
and the depth is what sticks out the most.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Welcome to Madison, Thank you, happy to be here. All right,
there you go.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
That's assistant coach Froe Jarrow on the pregame show. Keep
it right here more after this. This is Badger basketball
from Learfield.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I've got a Colt side at the Coals Center, Tod.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
It's side for the Badger Notebook exhibition game for the Badgers. Tonight,
Wisconsin faces Stevens Point. Did you know that Stevens Point
leads the all time series. There's seven to three against
Wisconsin all time. Now, most of those matchups happened in
the seventies. The last time these two teams played was
another exhibition. It was a Badger's win in twenty thirteen,
eighty to fifty one. But Wisconsin's coming off a fifteen
(06:35):
win season last season. It was fifteen wins, mats the
team's entire total from the twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen campaign.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Of course, this is the tune up.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
The season starts a week from tonight against Wright State
here at the Cole Center. We'll take a break and
come back with a quick spinn around the Big Ten. Next,
this is Badger Basketball from Learfield.
Speaker 2 (07:00):

USC was also picked to finish first in the Big Ten,
followed by UCLA, Ohio.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
State, Maryland, and Indiana.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Keep it right here, we've got more on the pregame show. Next,
this is Badger of Basketball from theirfield back at the
Cole Center.
Speaker 2 (07:48):

Speaker 4 (07:49):

Speaker 2 (08:24):
And the lineup looks like this.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Tess Myers is a five to nine grad transfer from

Freshman six foot guard Jovanna Spehovski from Serbia we'll get
the start for the Badgers. Ronnie Porter the five to
four junior guard from Saint Paul, Minnesota, Big Ten Honorable
(08:47):
mentioned selection for Wisconsin last season. Natalie Leitzinger is a
grad student five foot eight out of Monroe, Wisconsin, scored
nearly eight per game for the Badgers. Sarah Williams six
foot four now at junior from Brooklyn, New York, seventeen
and a half points per game, fifth in the Big Ten,
second and rebounding at ten point seven and first in
blocks per game a season ago, and the opening tip
(09:08):
off is backtapped and controlled by Wisconsin Exhibition Basketball here
tonight at the Coal Center, Williams has it down deep
on the right.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
A whistle of travel travel call against Sarah Williams.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
To start off this game, it'll be Stevens point Basketball,
Badgers and Pointers meeting for the first time since the
twenty thirteen exhibition game between these two teams, Wisconsin won
by almost thirty. Steven's point runs a back door cut
right to the rim lay up. Good Bye Galita. That's
Gabby Galitta all wiac Honorabile mentioned a year ago. Galita
(09:42):
scores down loan the right for the Pointers to nothing
start for Stevens points. Just underway in the first quarter,
Porter has it left wing for the Badgers, gives it
up Myers top side drives in travel, try to kick
it out to the right to her teammates.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Best off. Ski walked with the.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Basketball second traveling turnover for Wisconsin to start things off
here tonight, Pointers Basketball, Myers defensive league guarding Curisa Smith,
who has it outside right. Smith looking to her left,
now bouncing at the free throw line. McIntyre turn around
(10:23):
shot no boxing out is Williams Batcher's ball.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Two nothing pointers have been gone by.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
In the first Porter runs all the way to the rim,
miss the layoup gets tipped into the air and who
has it?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Pointers?
Speaker 4 (10:33):
It was secure with two hands by Thompson, the five
to eight senior John Lowens pointers basketball left right, Steven's
point fifteen to ten. A year ago they went four
and ten in the WIAC Now out on top. It's
Kreeger hands off left side. This is Thompson. Thompson to
the right elbow, defended by Myers. Shot Cox under ten,
back to the basket. Thompson drops it off down low
(10:55):
on the right shot rejected. McIntyre's shot rejected by william
picked up by the pointers. Shot clocks down to one.
They're not going to get a shot away. Buzzer sounds,
shot clock violation from Stevens point. And there is the
Big Ten defensive player of the year, Sarah Williams, making
her presence felt earlier in this game. Two point eight
(11:16):
blocks per game a season ago. Let the Big Ten
conference for Williams gets a rejection here tonight, first quarter,
eight twenty five to play in the first Myers outside
right down Lawyers, Williams banging in the defenders, missing the shot,
but she hits the floor in a foul called against
Steven's point to Sarah Williams will now go to the
(11:37):
free throw line, where she was excellent last year's just
shade under eighty percent of the free throw line for
Williams preseason All Big Ten pick for Wisconsin in just
the cornerstone that Marissa.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Mosley is going to.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Lean on here over the next couple of seasons of
her college career, and with the addition of Carter McCrae also,
who's a sophomore transfer from Northern Kentucky. Free throw missed
by Williams. McCrae averaged over eleven rebounds per game a
year ago, so between Williams and McCrae, that's a lot
(12:15):
of rebounds if we gabbled up hopefully this year for
the Bachel's missed them both rebound grabbed by the pointers
two nothing Stevens point eight fifteen to play.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
In the first quarter.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Trushaan has it passed outside right now though, flip it
inside and Myers tying.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Up Galita underneath the rim.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Jump ball stays with the pointers almost.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Two minutes gone by.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Here in the first quarter, Stevens point two wiscon said
nothing just rut of the wheel at Smith throws it
over to her left driving Thompson. Thompson free throw line
kicking out left side. Now on the base line drive
stopping is Trushawan and she tries to pass it back
out to her teammate Kreeger, and was off the bar.
There is a bounces store the Badger's bench and out
(13:02):
of bounce turnover Stevens point sconsin still looking for its
first field goal tonight in this exhibition game, Myers out
on top three no missed it off the right side.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Of the rim.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Fighting for the rebound was Williams, and a whistle stops
play and a bowel be called against Steven's point. So
for the pointers that is their second team fowl and
this one's called against Galita that's her.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Second, so she's got both of them.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
So the leading score from a season to go for
the pointers. Now on the bench, Williams has it play
in line right, step through in the paint up left
hand good and it's the first field goal of this
season for Wisconsin. The courtesy of Sarah Williams down Nope,
finish with the left hand and we're tied at two.
Seven to twenty eight to play opening quarter Winers basketball.
(14:01):
Stevens point between the circles. It's Kreeger, five to five
junior out of Merril, Wisconsin, working on lightscrecies from Monroe.
Kicked out topside, trying to turn the corner. Smith so
pull up mid range jumpers. No good offensive rebound, put
up and in down low on the left by Thompson.
She led the pointers at six rebounds per game a
season ago. Offensive board there four to two Stevens point
(14:25):
base nine Williams to the ram Williams strong move, it's
gonna fall and a foul. Sarah Williams to the free
throw line to trying to complete her three point play.
Two field goals here in the first quarter from Sarah Williams.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
And now an opportunity morn and one.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Krieger comes out of the game for Stevens point and
coming in is number thirty two. Ava Loftus, a five
eight junior from Stoughton, Wisconsin. Williams free throw short tipped
into the air, offensive rebound Wisconsin Myers.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Let's a fly on the left side.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
No good on the three rebound Leitzinger underneath missed it
partially deflected by Trushawn picked up pointers fourth a piece,
six forty eight in the first quarter, Stevens point basketball
trying to turn the corner on a drive is Loftus,
loft Us all the way to the rim off the
backboard for two. Dave A Loftus, the junior transfer from
(15:21):
Minnesota State Warhead with two on the board, sixty four
pointers down low on the left now Warkin is william
spinning up no but a fowl tried to spin under
defender Aubrey Smith in a foul call against Smith. Right
now we see our first taste of Carter McCrae, who
enters the game for the Badgers, replacing Yovanna Spashofski. So McCray,
(15:45):
a sophomore transfer from Northern Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Into the game now for the Badgers.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Lily Krawn and Deanna Simenez also entered for Maurissimosley's team.
So Williams back at the free throw line where she
has struggle tonight oh three and that one falls six
to five pointers by one second one that one rips
(16:15):
out no good one of four from the free throw
line for Williams rebound. Stevens point up the right sideline
collecting the ball. Is Murphy to the left corn Pointers ball.
This is loftus over two or last three ball hoisted,
and it's screwed by Thompson all w I a c
ono ill mentioned a year ago. Thompson connects from Downtown
(16:37):
Pointers ninth Badger's five I post.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
It's Williams, Williams in the lane.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Williams up no but a file before that, and Wisconsin
is just getting into Sarah Williams, and Williams is just
drawing fowl after foul here in this first.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Quarter, and there's Matt Hackett, the third year.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
Coacher, Stevens point looking up at the video board, trying
to make a case for his defenders. That's against McIntyre first,
and it's already the pointers fifteen foul, so the batterers
are in the bonus and Williams missed another one. Well,
good thing these stats don't count for the regular season.
(17:18):
To Sarah, Williams is off to a pretty slow start
from the free throw on next one's again second free
throw make of the game for Williams, but he's two
of seven from the free throw line. Amazing to get
seven free throws through the first four minutes of the
first quarter. By fifty eight to play in the opening quarter,
(17:38):
nine to six, Stevens point lead is Stevens point ball
ally Douglas now into the game, got shoved down to
the four in the lane and a fowl called against
Stevens point once again Helle Wisconsin ball sixteen foul now
against the Pointers. Three point lead for Stevens point. They're
(18:05):
four of nine from the floor, Wisconsin two of six
from the field. Amenez gives it up to Myers right wing,
throws it over to Douglas, steers it inside. There's McCrae,
some contact up with the right hand. No fighting for
the offensive. Reba McCrae tied up jump ball. She and
Loftus were fighting for that one held ball. It'll be
(18:25):
Wisconsin's possession. Arrow favors the Badgers. Jimenez finds Douglas hanshback
off at the corner. Amenis drills to the top of
the key, finds Meyers right of center, back over to
Dee Jmenez the Fenedbye Loftus high post catch turning and
facing the basket is McCray kick out Jimenez open three.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
It's in Deianis.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Amenez drills the three pointer from just right of the wheel.
You could tell when it left her hands she was
bouncing up and down. Felt good about that one. We're
tied at nine. Five ten to play first order pointers basketball.
It's Murphy off to the right side. Paul fake by Mackie,
now kicking it off to the left wing, back out
(19:08):
on top Mackie again.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Shot clocks under ten.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Mackie spinning trying to look for someone to go find,
trying to find her teammate. It's off the hands of
Thompson and stolen by Myers. Myers push up ahead and
then it's down no all alone miss the layup. Tough
angle is the men is going a little bit too
deep underneath the rim. Didn't get a good look at it.
Pointers basketball after the and men is miss. Could have
(19:31):
been a turnover and some points off of that turnover instead.
Steven's point now in control outside right. It's loftus. I'll
throw it around the outside. Now cutting to the rim
is Thompson shall drive strong around. McCray missed it. Thompson
gets it back. Shot clocks at six. Hasn't touched the rim.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Here's Murphy off to the left. Two seconds of the
shot clock.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Three rims off no good by loftus, Badger's ball, Myers
pushing Myers right of the lane, scoops it to McCray.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
It's loose and held.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Ball possession narrow to Stephens point it Stevens point basketball
after this timeout on the floor, four ten to go
first quarter, Wisconsin nine, Stevens point nine. And this is
Badger's basketball from rearfield, lay back, courts out and the
goal center. John Audius with you Wisconsin and Stevens point
(20:21):
in this exhibition game, even at nine a past four
ten to play in the first well Tonight's game bron
to you, part by Alliance Energy. Visit Alliance Energy.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Dot com to see how Alliant Energy invested in diverse
energy solutions first Today in the Future. Stevens point thirty
six percent from the floor. They're four for eleven. They've
knocked down one of two threes.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
The Badgers three of nine from the field and also
one of three shooting the three point shot.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Both three pointer tonight.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
It's come from sophomore Gianna Stevenez one area or the
Badgers have kind of tripped up early to the bree
throw line. All the freethrows tonight for Wisconsin on seven
of them came in the first four minutes.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Of the of the game, and all from Sarah Williams.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
She's two of seven from the free throw line, which
is very unlike her eighty percent shooter basically a season ago.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Just under eighty.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Pull up free throwing jumper is through by Loftus from
fifteen feet. Steven's point back on top by two under
four minutes to go, opening quarter light, Singer it's a
screen and throws.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
It to the corner. It's Porter.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
Porter slips screen, Myers. Porter has it now left her
the lane, run her up off the window. Mister wide
left ball being flocked for underneath. Williams comes out of
there with it, kicks it out to Myers open three
left side. No skips off the rim. Rebound gobbled up
by Steven's point. Then a fowl from Ronnie Porter falls.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
To the floor along with the pointers player who grabbed
the basketball still trying to get a number there. I
think that was Murphy, Maddie Murphy. You know that'll be
Stevens points basketball and Ronnie Porter will be called for
her first foul. Stevens point fifty nine points per game.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
A season ago in the WIAC they won four conference games.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Here's Loftus working on Myers left wing.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Lost the ball, regathered still with the dribble, tries to
throw it to the corner. It's tipped and stolen, picked
up by Wisconsin. Williams handling the rock across the timeline.
Soft touch of a porter. Ronnie now directing traffic for
the Badgers. Myers catch us, Myers out on top, Hard's
bounce high post rollings. Williams at the left album shot
(22:45):
clocks get close to ten. Now hands off to test
Myers hands off to porter left side shot clocks at
six Ronnie pull up long two missed it backeyron no good.
Three bounds Beshofski and a push called against the Spashovski
in an offensive fall call. Freshman out of Belgrade, Serbia,
(23:09):
Rissa posedly calls her a three level scorer.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
That time Sbezhovsky got called for an offensive.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Push right side pointers ball. This is Rice, Rice working
on light Singer kicked out right side two and a
half minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
In the first WoT Is driving right baseline, flips it
up over her head. In a wild shot ball being
flock horse, Bashovski comes out of there with it.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Here she is across the timeline, the freshman down the lane,
galloping to the rim, count it and one as she
tosses it up off the glass with the left hand.
Sbashovski a runaway freight train right to the rim, and
the freshman from Serbia to the free throw line.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
No hesitation. What she wanted to do was she got
the ball, and that was go right to the rim.
Nice finish with the left.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Hand too, Tyl a righty will shoot her hand one
and it's in. Spashowski twelve eleven Wisconsin now by a
point two fifteen to play. First quarter Here at the
Cole Center, Exhibition time Wisconsin and Steven's point pointers balls.
(24:25):
Murphy outside left, gives it up on top to Makie.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Knaki's passes intercepted, looking to a right. Porter comes away
at the.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Pick up ahead Spashowski back to Ronnie lay up in
look at that. Skashovski to Porter and the Badgers run
the fast break to a t fourteen to eleven Wisconsin.
Porter then pokes it away in a steel going the
other way. Ronnie lay up left hand hand the steal
and the finish by Porter time out. Stevens Points Pointers
(24:59):
taken time out with a minute thirty nine to go
in the first quarter. It's a seven nothing Wisconsin run.
Seven zip run over the last forty one seconds and
the Batchers have built themselves a five point lead Wisconsin
and Steven's point year in the opening quarter.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
So the Pointers had an eleven to nine lead.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Before Wisconsin has been able to score seven straight. It
was Svashowsky on a leap and a pre throw quorder
with the steal, and then Smashovsky got the assist back
to Ronnie and then another quarter steal in a finish
seven nothing run by Wisconsin. Pointers come out of their
(25:56):
time out top of the key Smith defended by Myers
of Wisconsin. Ninety seconds to play in the quarter, up
to Thompson on the left wing, defended by White sign.
Thompson picks up for dribble, Di spinds it to Trewshawn

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Second rejection of the.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
First quarter from Sarah Williams Buyers inside Williams. Williams down low, kickout,
spash off Ski for three, no good, Myers offensive.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Board quarter for three. That one's no good.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Haul then by McIntyre, loftus with the basketball bar half
of the court, quarter defense. Under a minute to play
in the first quarter, tru Shawn has it top of
the key, Tom's down the lane, loses it, picked up
McIntyre miss it, wrapped by Thompson. Shot clocks at seven.
(26:59):
Still hasn't touched her that baseline. Fifteenth quarter Trushawn, no
good and to the lap of Williams. Twenty five seconds
to play in the first quarter, sixteen to eleven Wisconsin.
The Badger's still on a seven to zing run and
they can hold for the final shot at the quarter
quarter has it standing up the motion w Fifteen seconds
to play.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
In the first.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Ronnie rating Scotshovski flip screen back over to Yovanna. We'll
find a path to the rim with the right hand.
Three seconds ago in the quarter rebound at Stephen's point
from beyond half court. It's a little late. It rolls
off the rim, missed by Smith. Wouldn't have counted anyway,
and the first quarter is done. With the Badger's ending
the quarter on a seven zip run over the last
(27:43):
two twenty of the first It's Wisconsin sixteen Stevens point eleven.
We'll be back with the second quarter next. This is
the Badger basketball from lear Field up Tonight's game run
by Rail Transit offering exceptional transportation services, truck driving jobs,
(28:04):
CDL training and so much more across Wisconsin orlare at
rail dot jobs.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
That's spelled r P e h L. John Audius with
did the Cole Center. It's exhibits a game tonight one.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
The Wisconsin Badgers facing Stevens point tw ends the first
quarter on a seven.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Nothing run over the last two minutes.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
And twenty seconds of the quarter, and they lead Stevens
point by five, sixteen to eleven Wisconsin after the first quarter.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Poiners had an eleven nine run obviously before that seven
zip run and Thatcher's hoping to continue that here to
start quarter number two.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Sarah Williams statt line for Wisconsin exceptional six points, three rebounds,
three blocks, could even have more points than that. She
was two of seven, however, from the free throw line
and Deannas Timenez down to the floor. I had looked
down at the stats, and I'm not sure if h
Men is collided with another Wayer.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
She's slow to get.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
Up right now, and now the Menez seems to be okay.
I'm sure if she just got.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Bumped a little bit, don't replay, okay.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
So here comes to Menez catching the inbound pass over
to Williams on the left wing, beats Spashovski, bopses down
low deep back out to Yovanna and it's stolen and
then Spashowsky knocks it for again. Now the ball's loose,
grabbed by Williams, throws over the porter, Porter lobs inside.
Spashawski missed the driving layup, Porter tracks down the mist
(29:52):
still Badger's ball. Still a seven to nothing run dating
back to the first corner. Skoshowski lost the ball, grabs
it one dribble, Advani ball bake drive flips it inside.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Here's Williams left finish good with the left hand down
low on the left.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Now a nine to nothing run dating back to the
first quarter for Wisconsin pointer. That ball just Underway's second
quarter right albo jumper is an airball challenged by Williams.
That was Goalita who missed him for the pointers and
it bounces out of bounds. Williams right there defending. Remember
Galita limited time in the first quarter for the pointers
(30:32):
after taking up two quick fouls. She was Steven's point.
Stephen points some beating scorer last year. Here's Porter trying
to get around a screen by Williams.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Can't do it.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Skip pass over to Crown, now to him in his
left wing, driving strong to the rim. Lost of basketball.
It's Loose, who hasn't pointers due grabbed by Thompson. Outlets
to Krieger, crossing the timeline, spins it off to the
left wing, back to Krieger.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
S Freeger and off true Shawn Drew.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Shawn skips it to the near side, off the screen,
and this is Smith now Crawn defense Smith.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Twelve in the shot clock passes deflected.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
It's Loose on the sideline, saved by Smith and a
time out by Stevens.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Point timeout on the court.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
With eight twenty eight to go in the second quarter,
Pointers need a quick breather. Eighteen to eleven, Wisconsin back
after this.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
This is match of basketball from lear Field tam Nicole Center.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
John Audius Witviewman, Wisconsin leaves leads at UW Stevens point.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Eighteen to eleven.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Second quarter eight twenty eight to play nine on the
shot clock for Stevens point. When they break this huddle
with the timeout, Wisconsin is shooting thirty five percent from
the floor Stevens point twenty nine percent from the field.
All right, letspos ten seconds for station ID ten for
a station.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
You're listening to. Wisconsin women's basketball eighteen to eleven. The
Badgers leads.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
Sarah Williams Now up to eight points for Wisconsin leading scorers.
The scorer that is for Stevens point is Alexa Thompson.
It was second on the team in points per game
a season ago.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
About nine and a half. She's got five so far
in this opening half.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
Just underway and quarter number two on the floor for
the Badgers, Krawn Leitzinger, Quorter, McCray and Williams Now. This
is the tandem I'm excited to see. Is Carter McCray
and Sarah Williams on the floor together, both big presences
down low. And the wall gets knocked out of bounds
by Porter, it will remain Steven's point ball. Both can rebound.
(32:51):
I want to see what they can do for Wisconsin.
Baseline jumper on the right, skips off the rim, missed
Biloftus grabbed by McCray. Matcher's right to left, moving to
basketball right sideline quarter gives it up to Lightsinger now swinging.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Around to the left corner. Three crown, it's gonna pop
out after going halfway down and McCrae sign up one
of the Stevens Point players. That was loftiest held ball
Steven's point ball Matt Hockett for Steven's Point third year
(33:26):
as head coach. He was also check out his resume.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
By the way, here's a turnaround left of the lane
shot missed by the pointers.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
That was Goalita Matcher's ball Hockett. That name might sound
familiar to a lot of fans locally in the area.
Here's the three by light Singer.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
No go McCrae over the back trying to grab that
offensive rebound. Follow on Cardi McCray in Wisconsin, but Matt
Hockett was the Stoton High School boys basketball coach for
six seasons, went to Stevens Point three years as the
men's basketball coach assistant, then switched sports two years as
(34:04):
the women's tennis coach, and was wiac co coach of
the year. Now in his third season with the women's
basketball program at stevens.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Point leading the pointers.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
I'm pretty sure I've called a Matt Hockett coach women's
basketball throws basketball game in the past. Doing research for
tonight's game. Name Hockett sounded really familiar, and that's the
reason why. Now Porter picks the pocket of Gary the
other way, lay up in by Ronnie, another steal in
(34:39):
a finished for Porter. Two more on the board for
the Badgers. Now an eleven nothing run dating back to
the last couple of minutes of.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
The first quarter, twenty to eleven. Batcher's on top.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Smith throws it off to a rotatorround to the right side,
three hoisted, it's no good rebound Thompson up, no but
a foul download on the left three missed by Galita
Thompson right there for the offensive rebound. And now she'll
step to the bree throw line and try to stop
this run. Alexa Thompson last season ninety percent for the
(35:22):
breethrow line.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
And that's it.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
So it's stops and run. Four nothing run to start
eleven zero overall. Next one by Thompson, three two made
by Alexa Thompson and it's twenty to thirteen Wisconsin by seven,
(35:53):
six forty eight to play in the second twitter, Douglas
fires it inside. McCrae spinning right hand. It's up, it's in,
and there's a fowl and McCrae to the free throw line.
Carter McCrae one of the two transfers this season on
this Badger's team. McCray a transfer from Northern Kentucky, was
(36:14):
the Horizon League Freshman of the Year last season, when
she scored nearly sixteen points per game, grabbed eleven rebounds
per contest, shot it at fifty six percent from the
floor three throws short, she was sixty two percent from
the line. Twenty two to thirteen Wisconsin with the lead
turnover Steven's point passed by Mackie to.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
The near side, off the hands of Gary and out
of bounds on the near sideline. Twenty two to thirteen.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
The Badgers lead the pointers six thirty five to play
in the second quarter. Here's Giannis md Is gives it
up the Lightsinger outside right. Lightsinger turbles to the top
of the key. Fires had passed it.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Menace feats inside of a crane deep on the left corner.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Kickout Myers now baseline pass caught by Douglas kickout left
side and Meta's angles in tries to beat it inside
to Douglas on a no look and it's stolen and
it's picked up by the Pointers. Turnover Wisconsin, seventh turnover
of the first half by the Badgers.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Off this steers it over to the corner. Here's at three,
that's going to be whistled.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
No Good stepping on the sideline was Mackie five to
ten freshmen.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Steps out and bounds on that three point attempt. She
missed the shot, but.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
Who's out of.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Bounds on the sideline in the corner.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
By fifty nine to play, second quarter, twenty two to thirteen,
Wisconsin leading the ball my men is to Myers. Myers
between the circles, soft bounce caught by d left hand
toss over to light singer outside the Arcs brings it
over to.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
D in the corner and Mena skips it to the
far side.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Myers has it right in front of the Stephens point
bench a light Singer at three in the corner. No
Good skips off the rimp baseline rebound by the Pointers.
Stevens point ball Smith has it She's gonna slow things
down as she crosses the timeline, guides it over to
the right side and it's taught outside the arc by
Loftus defended by Jimenez. The Thompson out on top over
(38:27):
to the far side of the court. Whitzeger defending on
a three ball that hits nothing but net. Parrissa Smith
drains the three for Stevens point second three point make
of the half for the Pointers twenty two to sixteen Wisconsin.
Douglas tries to catch a pass in the lane off
(38:47):
her hands. She got shoved in the lower back and
a foul called against Steven's point. Second team fowl of
quarter number two, sixth point Wisconsin lead. That ball called
(39:12):
against Mackie for second in menace outside to Douglas. The
Badgers set up their offense stashofski to the left. He
Menaz bounce to the baseline and Craig catches ten in
the shot clock SIPs it back off to the right side.
At three by Myers is an air ball and it
goes out of bounce test Myers, who could definitely hit
(39:37):
the three pointer at Ducaine.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
She left Ducane as the all.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Time leader in career three pointers her final season of basketball,
though in Madison. Tough start here in the exhibition from
outside the ark. Here's a three on the right side
by Murphy. Note good for Stevens point. Track down Spashofski,
I'll be ahead him men is hev men is a
couple of steps in the layups in with the left
hand Spashovski.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Finding Jimenez for the easy land.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Twenty four to sixteen. Badgers have the lead for nineteen
to play. Second quarter outside left Mackie to the corner.
It's Murphy, defended by jim Ennez gives it up. Smith
(40:31):
throws to the far side corner, Murphy for three off
the rim. It's no good in a foul ball against Wisconsin,
trying to fight for that rebound. Badgers lead by eight points,
(40:55):
scored the first four points of this second quarter. Scored
the last seven of the first quarter pointers. Ball loft Us,
the junior from Stoughton, will be inbounding for Stevens point.
Leaven the game, Carissa Smith for the pointers, and Steven's
point turns it over off the hands of Mackie and
out of bounds. Wisconsin Basketball White singer across the.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Timeline for the Badger.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
Grad student white singer, playing her final season of basketball
here in Madison, spashofski, you runner left the lanes and
a rattle in stash offski puts Wisconsin on top by
ten Steven's point ball. Mackie defended by Myers top of
(41:52):
the key, spins to her right, caught by Rice Rice
pocket pick Douglas with the steel. Here comes Halle the
other way. Hallie got pushed on the driving layup, missed it,
and we'll go to the free throw line.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Fowl. Steven's point pointers thirteen fowl here of quarter number two,
and here's Hallie Douglas at the free throw line. She's
also enjoying her final season at Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
Grad student Douglas about four points per game last season,
sixty six percent from the free throw line, and.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
That one's short.
Speaker 4 (42:36):
Well, Wisconsin's having a tough time here at the free
throw line tonight. Three of ten, next one by Douglas
and that one goes through. So Hallie goes one of
two from the free throw line, and the Batcher's have
an eleven point lead, double digit lead for Wisconsin here
(43:02):
in this exhibition game tonight at the Coal Center Loft,
just hard bounce to the far side corner. That's Murphy
and a whistle, And I believe she stepped out of mounds,
stepped out of bounce. Here the Wisconsin bench, the opposite
side of the court. Here where I'm sitting courtside at
the Coal Center tonight, it's Wisconsin basketball. Porter moves into
(43:25):
the front court. Oh, it's the Douglas. Spashovski catches skips
at far side. Ronnie with the ball, spins to Hallie,
Allie inside pop by spashofskioth and it's up and d Svashofski.
Excuse me, Yovanna Spashofski with the land twenty nine to sixteen.
(43:49):
At thirteen point Bacher's lead. Porter knocks a pass.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Out of bounds. Here Wisconsin's bench.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
Sbashofski seven points now on three of six shooting, four
rebounds and two assists. A freshman making a big impact
on the court here in this exhibition game, loftus defended
by Porter, passed to the right, picked up by Smith.
Smith gives it up to Mortensen, who's in the game now.
(44:17):
Thompson outside right shot clocks at five. Thompson makes a move,
spash Offski with the block. Thompson gets it back with
one of the shot block missed the shot and it's
out of bounds on the baseline, and who touched it
last the pointers did?
Speaker 2 (44:29):
I was touched by Smith of Stevens point and it's Wisconsin's.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
Ball to twenty three to go before the half twenty
nine sixteen, the Badgers outscoring Steven's point thirteen to five
in the quarter on a seven to nothing run are
the Badgers now lights ander and a jumper in the lane.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Is deflected, but a foul so she grabbed the pass
right at the MG ten logo.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
A couple steps inside of the free throw line basically
and went up to the shot, got fouled, got halfed.
See if Leitzinger can find the bottom of the net
from the free throw line. She was an eighty one
percent free throw shooter for the Badgers last season.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
That's a good start. Then balls.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
Thirty to sixteen and eight nothing run thirty one to
sixteen after the next free throw nine to nothing run
now by the cardinal in white approaching two minutes to
go in the corner porter to flex another pass, ball
tipped into the air, who has it? Steven's point long
two straight on that one's missed by galit.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Up on a five from the floor. Now per Galita
Badger's ball.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
Porter in the corner, I toss Williams fadeaway on the baseline, airball,
Thompson has it.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
Steven's point ball Coiners move into the front court and.
Speaker 4 (45:56):
A minute forty four to go before halftime, it's Tompson
outside right, defended by Poor. I'll a dribble drive hand off.
Loftus has it. Porter switches Loftis left wing screen set,
Loftis runner left baseline.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
No Porter has it now. The rebounder was ripped down
by Williams. Got it out to Ronnie Sarah Trail in
the play catch us out on top.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
A couple of dribbles to Lights and Ger so let
it go from downtown and Natalie Lightsinger lights it up
from the outside. A three point hit and it's thirty
four sixteen, A twelve nothing run by Wisconsin. Approaching a minute,
here's a three by Steven's point from the corner, and
it's good by Morton Sen. It stops a twelve all
(46:46):
run download missing Porter rebound pointers out to the lefts
another three hoisted and another one drilled by Morton Sin.
The junior from Oregon Wisconsin back to back triples with
the pointers at a time out by Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
The Thatchers have had.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
A couple of big runs in this game, Stevens point
now on a six to nothing run and a quick
time out taken by head coach Marissa Mosley.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
So the Badgers led in twenty two.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
To sixteen before that twelve old run made it thirty
four to sixteen. But here comes Stevens Point. With two
to three pointers over the last twenty four seconds, it
it's down to a twelve point game. Oargest lead for
(47:55):
the Badgers has been that eighteen point margin, and now
following the time out, with forty one point eight seconds
to play in the half, it's Wisconsin's ball and men
is up the right sideline with the Badgers, gives it
up to light Singer, hands it back golf Dee has
a far corner right in front of the bench. Jimenez
(48:16):
trying to go somewhere, leaves it from mc cray back
to him Enez back to the corner, off the hands
of light Singer and out of bounds. I'll tell you
what what him Meantez is down on that the right
sideline in front of the Stevens point bench. Not only
is she dealing with her defender in front of her,
but head coach Matt Hackett is like a defender out
of bounds, just handspread wide to his side, just kind
(48:40):
of going back and forth, shuffling his feet because it's.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
Like he's guarding him. Menez out of bounce. Let's you know,
you see that out of the corner of your eyes,
and gotta see.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
That ten seconds ago in the corner loftus between the
circles for the pointers down to seven, Jimenez defense waiting,
still waiting, five seconds.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
Down to three, driving finally around him. Then is layoff
will roll off?
Speaker 4 (49:02):
No good to end the quarter from man, did she
take her sweet time and then attack the rim only
to come up just a little shy.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
And we've reached the half.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
Here at the Coal Center tonight, Wisconsin thirty four Stevens
point twenty two.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
The Badgers outscored the pointers in that quarter eighteen.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
To eleven, and they have the lead at halftime. All right,
coming up at the half, we'll run through some of
these numbers team an individual, and when we come back
our halftime interview with the Badgers, Halle Douglas, who returns
to Wisconsin for her final season of college basketball. Here
from Halle Douglas in our halftime interview. Next, this is
(49:48):
Badger basketball.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
From Alearfield halftime tonight from the Coal Center. John autis
with you, and the Badgers lead Stevens Boyd at this
exhibition game thirty four to twenty two. I'll score the
pointers eighteen to eleven in that last quarter.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
Well, tonight's half time interview is Wisconsin is Hallie Douglass.
I had a chance to speak with the Badgers six
to one guard earlier last week, and here's that interview
here at the half.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
So what is it like to be back at practice
and getting ready for another year?
Speaker 9 (50:25):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just grateful to be back for
another year. I mean I love playing here at Wisconsin
and I wanted to be a part of something special
for one more year.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
So I'm grateful to be back here.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
So what is that like then, to be able to
get that one final season of college basketball?
Speaker 9 (50:39):
Yeah, I mean it's such a blessing. Obviously, I'm sure
a lot of fifth years would say that, but just
also coming off of an injury and getting that year back.
I had it last year to kind of just get
back in the bastle mode and then this year just
finally get fully healthy and be back to myself. So
I'm excited to play this year and just be one
hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (50:54):
Let's talk about last season, because this team made some
really big strides WN run all the way to the
rate eight. What do you think it means for the
team entering this season to have the success that you
guys had last year.
Speaker 9 (51:05):
Yeah, I mean that was a huge momentum boost for
our team. You fell a little short of our goals
that year, and but that's nothing to say. We did
great and we made it to the wn IT which
was we want to play in the postseason however we can,
but our main goal is still making it to the
NCAA tournament. So just doing whatever we can to get
to the postseason, using the momentum we had from last year,
and just striving to be even better this year.
Speaker 4 (51:27):
Yeah. What do you think was the best part of
last year's team and what do you think needs to
maybe become a little bit more solidified entering this season.
Speaker 9 (51:37):
I think our team chemistry last year were just great,
and I think that's what helped us roll into the postseason.
But I think our depth is something that's really just
going to take us even farther this year. We're bringing
back most of our team. We've got younger girls in
and outperclassmen, and we have a lot of experience on
our team, along with bringing in some older transfers, which
really helps the experience. So I think just putting that
(51:58):
all together is really gonna bring us to be a
better team.
Speaker 4 (52:01):
Talking with Halle Douglass here at halftime, so what was
your off season like?
Speaker 2 (52:05):
Would you what were you up to?
Speaker 9 (52:07):
I mean, it was just playing basketball. It was very
great to just be playing basketball this offseason because last year,
obviously I was rehabbing, so I was able to actually
play the spring and summer and fall, which was great
for me just with my development and.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
Stuff like that. Yeah, so what areas are you trying
to improve?
Speaker 4 (52:23):
I mean, obviously, I think most athletes are probably trying
to get better every single year, whether you're college, pro,
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
But what we're you focusing on?
Speaker 9 (52:31):
I was only just focusing on getting my body right
and back and just playing defense and trusting my knee again.
But then also I've been working on shooting and just
getting my shot off quicker and making better decisions.
Speaker 6 (52:41):
Off the bounce.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
And we talked about this being your fifth year, do
you you well, how do you view your role? Number one?
Speaker 4 (52:47):
And as part of that, maybe as a mentor for
some of the newcomers to the Big Ten and then
also for some of the freshmen five freshmen on this
year's team.
Speaker 9 (52:53):
Yeah, obviously, being my fifth year, I've had a lot
of experience. But I just think my role in this
team is to do whatever our team needs me. If
I need to score that game and hit a few threes,
if that's if I need to go get an offensive rebound,
or play defense or box out, I'll just do whatever
our team needs. And with that, like my team needs
a leader, needs someone to look to or go to.
I hope that's I'm someone that can do that. Thanks
(53:16):
for the time, Yes, of course, thank you.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
That's Hallie Douglass here at the break back with more
after this. This is Badger basketball from Learfield back court
sided the coal Center. John Audis with you halftime here
at thirty four twenty two. Wisconsin leedsnoint in this exhibition
tune up before the regular season starts a week from tonight.
(53:40):
Let's take a look at the team numbers at the half.
The Badgers are shooting forty one percent from the floor
thirteen out of thirty two eight of thirty from the
field for Stevens point. That's twenty seven percent from outside
the three point line.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
The pointers have hit.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Four eight fifty percent the Badger's two or eleven that's
eighteen percent free throw nine pointers two of two the
Badgers six of thirteen forty six percent rebounding plus three
for the pointers twenty three to twenty. Team assists seven

a significant lead in points off turnovers thirteen to four.
Second chance points. The Batchers lead seven to four off

Stevens points, and the Badgers have led by as many
as eighteen. They've led for twelve minutes in the first half.
Right now, it's thirty four to twenty two at twelve

Speaker 2 (54:58):
Lead for Wisconsin. Great can come back and look at
the individual numbers. Next. This is Badger basketball from Learfield.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
He's not continuing at the goal center.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
John Audius with you.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
It's a thirty four to twenty two Wisconsin lead in
this exhibition game against Steven's point. Let's look at the
numbers individually at the half. Alexa Thompson leads the pointers
with seven seven points and eleven rebounds in fifteen minutes.
In that first half, Morton's in a couple of threes
six points. Those two threes were part of a six
to nothing run by.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Mortenson and Steven's point.
Speaker 4 (55:34):
Loftus has four points and two assists. Three points from
Smith with two boards. Golita, who was Stevens points leading
scorer last season, two points one in five shootings.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
She did pick up two quick fouls in this game.
The Badger's leading scorer the half the Sarah Williams lead points.
Six of those in the first four rebounds for Williams,
and let's just make sure she still had the three.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
She is three blocks per Williams, the Badger's leading scorer
at the break, seven from Veshovski. There's three of six
from the floor with four rebounds and two assists at
thirteen minutes, then at six points from Ronnie Porter, three
rebounds and an assist, five points from Hennetz on two
of three shooting an eight minutes, Leiziger has five points
(56:21):
as well as she's two of two from the free
throw line. Carter McCray two points, four rebounds, Myers test
Meyers transfer from Jaccain oh A four from the four,
Lily kron O one from the field. All right, we'll
take our final break of the half and come back
with the third quarter with Wisconsin leading by twelve. This
is Badger basketball from Deerfield.
Speaker 10 (56:40):

Speaker 4 (57:44):
Have time winding down at the Goal Center tonight thirty
four to twenty two. The Badger's lead Steven's pointed by
twelve points, says we're getting in ready.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
For quarter number three coming up. Remember coming up.
Speaker 4 (57:57):
The Badger's regular season opener fifth here at the Coal
Center at six point thirty against Right State. Badgers play
a couple at home before are heading to South Dakota State.
Speaker 2 (58:10):
It's right state on the fifth. Five days later on
the tenth, it's.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
Georgetown, and the Badgers will return back to the Coal
Center in November for three in a row. So we
want to go check out the women's basketball team. November seventeenth, Milwaukee,
November twenty first, u C. And November twenty third here
in Madison on.
Speaker 2 (58:30):
A Sunday. I believe that is against Omaha. So the
Madgers will be here six of.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
Their first seven if you count tonight's exhibition game. Our
two teams on the flour. Great start for the freshman
Yovanna Spashofsky seven points in that first half with four rebounds.
Third quarters underway, with Wisconsin going left to right, White
(59:00):
singer with the rock, gives it up to Porter Firesi
a free throw line. Spashofski kick out to the corner.
Myers near side left tangible drifting to her left, looks inside,
caught spash Offski off the window, two points, an easy
lay in there by the freshman nine and now to
lead the way to lead all scorers tonight, Ylvana Sbashofski pointers, ball,
(59:25):
challenging Porter on a drive is Kreaker and then Ronnie
just reached in and tried to rip the basketball away.
Jump ball is the call. Possession arrowed to Stevens points
just underway in the third quarter, pointers ball Thompson on
the left, reads midposts on the left. Here's a hook shot,
(59:47):
no good over Sarah Williams missed by McIntyre. McIntyre tries
to kick it out and is stolen. Wisconsin Spash offski
to her left, driving in from the left side, colliding
to the rim and scoring this light Singer thirty eight
to twenty two Wisconsin. Thatcher's with the first four points
of the third quarter. Now they filed it up to
(01:00:09):
a sixteen point advantage mid post on the right turn around.
Galita comes up short on the jumper into the lamp
of porter. Here's Ronnie and Wisconsin left to right. Throws
it to spashofsky kicks it to the corner. Myers is
open for three. It rims out, no good Lightsinger fighting
with two pointers players for the ball. Jump ball possession
arrow Wisconsin Tess Meyers now zero of five from the field.
(01:00:35):
All three point shots by Myers hasn't connected yet in
bounds play caught kicks it up to quarter to the right.
Lightsinger inside Williams Rooking fall not free, it's loose who
has it Steven's point, Galida has it and Leitzinger tried
to knock it away before the pointers control. Krieger front
(01:00:59):
court quarter picks her up top of the key to
the left wing. Now Myers defense Smith screen set for Thompson.
Thompson right of the wheel, bouncing mid post, right working,
working back and tire up. Nope, out of bounds rejected
by Williams. Think Williams got a piece of that. We'll
(01:01:27):
see if the up club to four blocks down seven
on the shot clock for Steven's point to the corner.
True Shawn now driving looking for somewhere to go is
Smith and a whistle as Smith? Oh, actually, true Shawn
got knocked over. Smith put up a shot.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Test. Myers will be called for the foul.
Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
Thirty eight to twenty two Wisconsin lead. It'll be pointers ball,
not a shooting foul. Fouled number one or Wisconsin. To
start this third quarter, Loftus to the left. Smith catches
Smith to Thompson driving stumbling forward, leaves it off to
Loftus full up near the right elbow is no good.
(01:02:14):
Holding by Thompson around three badgers, leaves it off and
clipping it off the backboard for two.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
Is Smith just right of the lane.
Speaker 4 (01:02:23):
Thirty eight to twenty four first field goal the second
half for Steven's point. I screen Williams sets for light
Sinker on the left wing, who can roll back over
to Williams and she'll just walk to the rim and
score down low on the left to finish good from
(01:02:48):
Sarah Williams. She's reached double figures with ten four rebounds
tonight for Williams, and there's another block on a shot
down low by McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
I remember double doubles were.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Sarah Williams thing last season, twenty of them total. Williams
set a Big Ten record with seventeen consecutive double doubles.
He got ten and four tonight points and rebounds, but
adds another block now is five pasted oling Douglas galloping
the other way.
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
It's gonna count in.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
A foul reaching in from behind. I think they're gonna
get true Sean with that foul. Hallie Douglas hasn't had
one opportunity upcoming.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Back to Williams statline. Yes, he's up to five blocks now.
Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
With those ten points and four boards. So here's Douglas
and Hallie will miss the free throw. Short rebound robbed
by the Pointers. Chase down on the sideline. That follow
(01:03:57):
what's called against true Shawn. Here's Thompson left baseline Leisinger
defense as it download the lapt still has nowhere to go, however,
decides to flip up a shot. It's missed from eight
feet out and fighting for the rebound is Stevens. Stephens
points ema Loftus.
Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
And a foul called against the Badgers. Ronnie Porter with
her third foul, team fouled number two against the Badger
six forty two to play. Third quarter, Wisconsin forty two.
Stevens points twenty four. Thompson outside right, fables to the
free throw line, has it at the left elbow, Lightsinger
(01:04:42):
tightly on her, gives it up. McIntyre running shot, No
good check it. That was loftus. Rebound.
Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Wisconsin up ahead to pour it Porter front court, Ronnie
on the right. Ronnie skips it to the left. Hallie
throws it inside. Mccraig gathers up off the window, now
tries to get her on rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
It is going to be a.
Speaker 4 (01:04:59):
Whistle and it is going to be a bowel against
Idok Stephen's point. But the way Marissa Mosley just reacted
to that call, no, she's good. It is a fouel
against Steven's point. Second team Bowel Wisconsin ball light sinker
(01:05:28):
a face line bounces inside. Douglas lost a grip on
the basketball, grabbed by the pointers. Steven's point right to left.
It's loftus top of the key, drives to a right
dribble drive, hand off to Mackie. Mackie kick out left wing.
Burton sit up her threes in the first half for her.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Porter on her tightening.
Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
Al Meyer switches now back to quarter, flips it deep
on the left, the lid up working on a Cray
tries to pull her way to the basket and a
fall called against McCray missed the show and now to
the free throw line will be Goalita Koshowski comes in,
(01:06:17):
Myers leaves light Singer leaves and also now coming in
is Dianna Simenez. So here's Galita at the line from Franklin,
Wisconsin seventy seven percent free throw shooter last year. Hers
free throw is going to rim Ount No Good Wisconsin
(01:06:43):
forty five percent from the floor so far in this game,
holding Stevens point to twenty four percent from the field.
Rodgers have led by as many as eighteen here in
the quarter, and the free throw is in so.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
One of two at the line by Galita. It's forty
two to twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
Wisconsin has a lead with the basketball by forty two
to play in the third quarter. Spash Offski or Wisconsin
defended by Thompson, bounces to her right to Douglas inside
the McCrae and an easy.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Layup deep on the right for Carter McCrae.
Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
McCray and the Badgers now lead it forty four to
twenty five, five twenty five to play in the third
Crawn nearly came away with the steel, trying to pick
the pocket of Mortensen, who regathers to the left.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Thompson driving on Spashofski kick out over a loft, just
driving in now to the top of the key Makia three.
It comes up short and it's going to be Stevens
point basketball. I believe what hell they're gonna say, Wisconsin.
I thought that came down off the back of Krawn,
who was standing out of mounds with an avenue.
Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
Apparently rather touched out of mounds first before touching the
back of Krawn Wisconsin ball forty four twenty five the Badgers.
It's nearly a twenty point lead and an offensive foul
(01:08:10):
against him Menez as she crosses the timeline into the
front court push off called against Ti Menez. Stevens point
ball pointers haven't scored in the last two and a
half minutes. They're over the last four. From the four,
there's Tompson along two. It's gonna roll in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Was it a two or three?
Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
I think it's a two, and then a bowel called
down low away from the basketball. So I think they're
gonna count the basket and it should be forty four
to twenty seven, and it'll be the Badger's fourteen Bowl,
and I believe it's gonna be Steven's point ball after
this time out now on the flour, well, straight it
out out for you when we come back four fifty
(01:08:56):
five to plaint in the third Wisconsin forty four Stevens
point twenty five is what the scoreboard says. We'll get
the score right next. This is Badger basketball from lyric
third quarter here at the Coal Center.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
John odiis with you.
Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
It's the exhibition opener for the Badgers, forty four to
twenty eight is the score on the scoreboard. The officials
taking a look at the monitor during this last media timeout,
they're going to give the three to the pointers to
make it forty four twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Leading scorer tonight for Wisconsin is Sarah Williams ten points,
four rebounds, and Yovanna Spashovski, the freshman course seven from
the field right behind Williams with nine.
Speaker 4 (01:09:50):
Points, and it'll be Stevens point basketball. The last fall
was called against him. Men is four get the fifteenth
fowel against Wisconsin. Okay, so now the pointers are in
the bonus, so they'll be at the free throw line.
So not only do they get the three pointer good
by Thompson after the review and now the foul called
(01:10:14):
against him, Menez will lead the two free throws, and
the first free throws up and in by Galita seventy
seven percent pre throw shooter a season ago for Stevens point.
See if the pointers can get another one on the board.
They do so, essentially a five point play for Stevens point,
and it's down to a forty four point thirty score.
(01:10:37):
Wisconsin's ball and the lead. Douglas. The double team hands
off the porter to the corner. Krawn lifts and rises
and connects with three.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
Lilly.
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
Krawn from the right corner, drills the triple and Wisconsin's
on top by seventeen the right baseline. Galda trying to
pass traffic to get it to Mortonson. It's poked away
and stolen by the Badgers. Four twenty to play in
the third. Now the Badgers toss it away.
Speaker 6 (01:11:08):
Who has it?
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Jump ball?
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
It was Maggie getting her paws on it for Stephen's point.
But the possession arrow we'll head in the direction of
the pointers. So here comes Stevens point again at forty
seven to thirty. Wisconsin leeds Thompson right, the line extended
(01:11:34):
on the right, lost the ball, Retrieves puts it on
the floor again, pretended.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
By smash off. Steve spins it to her right. Mortenson
catches and a quick whistle.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
And a fowl call, trying to get the number on
that one from Steven's point fall against the pointers, here's
Porter up the left side line to Douglas.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
Douglas down the left to kick out spashofski for three. No,
it's no good.
Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
McCray gets a deep on the left offensive rebound on
the pook back end for McCrae.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Forty nine Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
Loftis got called for the last fall that should be
a travel against the pointer. The don't call it thrown
away by Loftus, stolen by Wisconsin. Fast break time Spashawski
good Dom lowing the right off the feed from Douglas
time out Stevens point three, twenty eight to play in
(01:12:35):
this quarter, fifty one point thirty Wisconsin and the Badgers
are on the seven zip run, largest lead of the game.
Now for the UW twenty one points, eleven points now
for the freshman in Spashovski with four rebounds and three
(01:12:55):
assists in nineteen minutes. Great exhibitions start off Ski here
against Steven's point. Badger's regular season opener a week from
tonight against Right State here at the Cole Center. Check
it out, go get some tickets at UW Badgers dot com.
(01:13:21):
And I think they they called it thirty second time out,
but I think they've moved it to a full time out.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Producer Dave Gasper, how many breaks do we have left?
Let's keep three. Let's take a break as a Badger
of basketball for player Field County to play in order.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Number threech on Audius win, New Wisconsin leads Stevens point,
fifty one thirty pointers ball and a quick whistle and
Steven's point moves into the front court and a fowl
called against the Badgers. He's gonna put the pointers back
at free throw line to shoot a pair, and is
it Ronnie Porter?
Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
It is?
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
And it's her fourth foul.
Speaker 9 (01:14:05):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Porter seemed to upset right after that whistle. Not really upset,
more shocked, more kind of confused.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Better way to put it.
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
Free throw in for Kalida, so Porter heads to the bench.
Four Wisconsin. Here's Goalita's second free throw. That one's gonna
bounce around the rim and drop three Wisconsa with the
lead and the ball, three fourteen to play in the third,
(01:14:37):
it's fifty one thirty two.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
And pointers player.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
Mackie almost came away with the steals, lost it out
of bounce in your sideline.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
Fashofski will invot.
Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
Hard counts caught by Jimenez between the circles, guides it
over to Crown open three right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Side right rim. No good Craig offensive rebound are honest?
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Plethora of pointers missed the shot as she went back
up in a whistle falls to the floor, and who's
the call going against?
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
To the point always it against McCray. It is.
Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
Cardi McCray seems a little confused. It's like Ronnie Porter
was not too long ago. Foul McCray and the Badgers.
And back to the free throw.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
Line we go.
Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
Cray is gonna go talk to Wisconsin coach Larrissa Mosley
and head of the bench with Cray six points, eight rebounds,
leads Wisconsin in boards tonight in twelve minutes. All right,
So Alexa Thompson, we'll have a couple of attempts here.
First one's no good. Second in scoring last year for
Stevens point nine pre throw shooter, so that's pretty rare.
(01:16:01):
Next one up coming for Thompson, and it's through. Thompson
makes it fifty one thirty three. Badgers are in control
over the Stevens point pointers to fifty eight in county
to play in the third. Prawn catches outside left for
(01:16:21):
the Badgers. O Himn is top of the key, the men.
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Is high screen, a Menace throws to her left. Josh
Offski dribbles free throw line jumper, short offensive rebound.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Williams down deep on the left they're on a double team,
and she'll put it up off the window. It's gonna
count at a foul. Sarah Williams in a free throw
line for an and one. Williams the offensive rebound, and
now two more on the board. Twelve points, five boards
for Williams, and now she'll go to the free throw line,
(01:16:54):
where it's kind of been her only hickup of the
game so far. Two of seven from the free throw line, free.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
Throw, no good.
Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
Two of eight rebound pointers to thirty five to play
in the third quarter. Left wing, it's Smith defended by Lightsinger.
That's twenty four versus twenty four.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
To the corner. Murphy back out on top.
Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
Smith tries to three, Nope, falls into the lap of
Hallie Douglas. Douglas rebound outlets left sideline. He Manas races
up the floor to the corner like tiger for three.
It's no good, long rebound. Who hasn't kicked out by
the pointers picked up Stephen's point. It's Murphy throwing out
to the left baseline. Now working down low as Mackie.
Mackie on Vashofski, no but to follow Kashafsky, hands on
(01:17:47):
her head, cannot believe the call to a four to
play and more.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Free throws for Steven's point.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
Stephen's point has gotten to the free line eight times
in this quarter ten times in the game. Spashovski, with
her second foul, heads toward the bench. Tess Myers comes
in and the free throwers miss by Kira Macki freshman
(01:18:19):
out of the state of Michigan for the pointers. Next
one is short rebound into the lap of Myers in
a foul called against Stevens point. Twenty point Badgers lead,
and that is team foul number four. Although there is
(01:18:43):
a discrepancy between the ribbon on the on the coal
center here and the statistics they have Stevens pointed five fouls.
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
The board just moved in to four, so now we
have a little bit of a stopping to play.
Speaker 4 (01:18:58):
And I think they're trying to figure that out.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
And it'll be the fifteenth foul.
Speaker 4 (01:19:10):
So what that means is Tess Myers will get her
first chance to get in the points column on the
box score. Myers to the free throw line for Wisconsin
transfer from Ducaine free throw no Good. Wisconsin is six
of sixteen from the free throw line tonight. Myers is
(01:19:33):
an eighty six percent free throw shooter. This next one's
in pointers into the front court. Trailing fifty four to
thirty three, under two minutes to play. In quarter number three,
Murphy steers it to her left. Brab By McIntyre back
(01:19:53):
to Murphy down the lane, tied up by Douglas, el
ball possession arrow to Wisconsin. Stephen's points no field goals.
In the last three minutes, the Badgers have tied their
(01:20:14):
largest lead of the game. It's at twenty one. Heymen
Is left hand guides it off to the left, caught
by light, center skips it to the near side. This
isdeed hind A screened by Douglas, changes direction, now goes
down the lane and gets tripped up in a foul.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
So now the Badger's back at the bree throw line.
This third corner is slowed down thanks to free throws.
Speaker 4 (01:20:40):
Steven's point has gotten there ten times. This is the
Badger's fifth and sixth tries from the line. Tonight's in
this quarter. So the men Is gets tripped up, file
called against. Galita her third and here's deed to shoot
a pair, and that first one is going to roll through.
(01:21:00):
Giannis and Menez scored in double figures nine times last
season for the Batchers, scored about seven.
Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
Per game in her first year. Next one is up
and through. I really like Dianis's game though.
Speaker 4 (01:21:20):
Now Ellie Bisball into the game six ' four freshmen
freshman from Lake City, Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
The first action for Bisball pointers ball a minute twenty
to go in the quarter fifty six thirty three Wisconsin.
Mortenson out on top and throws to a ride off.
Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
This with the basketball lights and Ger tightens up the
screws defensively bounce inside, working on Williams shot up missed
by McIntyre in the follow fall. Now Kindsire, the senior
from Waukeshaw, Wisconsin, will now go to the free throw
line called against Sarah Williams as sister first Williams claiming, Hey,
(01:22:03):
I was just just standing here with my hands up
a bove in my head. But here's MacIntyre. Now played
in twenty five games last season. For Steven's point, free
throw drops through first point of the night for McIntyre,
(01:22:27):
she does have six rebounds. Second one misss rebound Williams
outlet right sideline, hemenis front.
Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
Court d left hand dribbled out on top. Now she's
gonna run the offense.
Speaker 4 (01:22:39):
Amendez brings it back out to the motion w for
a minute to play in the third quarter, guides it
over to the right, his ball with the ball all
Jamyer's out on top, drift team to a left, Beads
inside double team on Williams deep on the left in
a fall called against Steven's point and more free throws.
(01:23:00):
Williams will step to the free throw line. Well points,
six rebounds for Sarah Williams, first team All Big Ten.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
Pick for Wisconsin last year. Here is Williams. This is
that freethrow.
Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
There's a lid on the basket for Williams tonight, specifically
from the free throw line. Make this and she's thirty percent.
She got it three of ten tonight off shooting night
from the charity strike. But still thirteen points. And there's
(01:23:41):
the leading scorer in this game. And the pointers throw
it away, it'll be Badger's ball. With forty two seconds
in the third corner, Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Needs somebody to inbound.
Speaker 4 (01:23:54):
Sarah Williams says, oh, I'll go do that near sideline.
Forty on the game clock, twenty eight on the shot clock.
Here's a man is racing to the ram, bumps into
Loftis in a blocking fall against Loftus on the baseline.
Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Amenez got super aggressive on that drive.
Speaker 4 (01:24:13):
And Loftus was left behind on the play fall called
per second. That is the eighth Stevens point foul. Seventeen
fouls total in this quarter between the two teams.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Amen Is free throw is.
Speaker 4 (01:24:32):
Going to bounce off the front ram, then drop through
Ssconsin has scored the most points of any quarter tonight.
Here in the third, they're up to twenty four as
a team in the quarter, doubling up Stephens point. It's
for the twenty fifth point of the quarter, and it's
no good. Tipped off the back floor by Williams and
gobbled up by the pointers. Thirty seconds to go in
(01:24:55):
the third Stevens point ball thirty four, Wisconsin driving to
the rim, layup, Gonna sneak in for Loftus.
Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
Williams just a hair too late.
Speaker 4 (01:25:08):
Coming over from the week side, trying to reject that
into the stands. Ten seconds ago in the quarter, Badgers
in the front court fifty eight thirty six Jim Ennis
step back three straight on short at the buzzer, and
(01:25:28):
we're done with three quarters. In this exhibition against Steven's point.
It's Wisconsin fifty eight Steven's point thirty six. We'll be
back for the final ten minutes of this one after
this break. This is Badger basketball from Learfield at the
Cole Center tonight exhibition basketball. The Badgers lead Stevens point
(01:25:52):
fifty eight to thirty six. Time for our ATC play
of the game ATC smart play of the game. Let's
go to the first half been freshman Yovanna Smashawski up ahead,
Spashawski back to Ronnie.
Speaker 2 (01:26:06):
Lay up in.
Speaker 4 (01:26:07):
Look at that, Smashawski to Porter and the Badgers run
a fast break to.
Speaker 11 (01:26:12):
A teat.
Speaker 6 (01:26:14):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:26:15):
There's our ATC play of the game ATC energizing your
future with smart careers. All right, So, Wisconsin fifty eight
Stevens point thirty six. The Badgers were able to put
twenty four on the board in that quarter, the most
of any quarter so far.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
This evening.
Speaker 4 (01:26:40):
From Wisconsin. Overall in the game, Wisconsin shooting forty four percent.
They shot fifty three percent in the last quarter. Well,
Stevens point shot twenty five percent, but overall forty five
percent from the four for the Badgers.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Twenty six percent for the pointers.
Speaker 4 (01:27:05):
By the way, Yovanna Sbashofski not a bad start here
in the next hibition, eleven points on five of ten shooting,
four rebounds and three assists.
Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
Fourth quarter is here Stephen's point running to the rim,
laying it up and in his loftus.
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Stoke Wisconsin product am a loftist for two twenty point
Badger's lead. Hitzinger out to the left to the corner,
Myers high post, Williams fine Spashofski went so the rim
missed it down low on the right. Good luck go
there by the freshman picked up pointers Stephen's point. It's
(01:27:47):
Smith now they'll bounce down the mid post on the right.
Smith working on Williams and Loston. That's Aubrey Smith. Carissa
Smith had the ball initially earlier in that play. Thompson
deloftus Myers on her goes it to the left side.
(01:28:12):
This is Carissa Smith on top Thompson Blitzinger, Honor shot
bocks at five to the left. It's Smith on Douglas
left baseline prize and put it up right hand blocked
by Douglas. Picked up Wisconsin lights in here, push up ahead,
Myers be down low william stepped through. No but a
(01:28:34):
vowel because Williams slippins down to the four, will be
helped up by our teammates, and we'll go right back
to the free throw line, where she's basically been this
entire game.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Ten tries at the line for Williams tonight, She's three
for ten and now still have a pair and the
first one is no good. Next one up coming for Williams.
She leads all scorers tonight with thirteen.
Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
Next one is gonna go through, rattled around, and then
it finally gently drops through the bottom of the net
four twelve from the free throw line. I mean Williams
could easily be at twenty points right now, eight forty
in county to play in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
Badger is getting ready for the season.
Speaker 4 (01:29:33):
A week from tonight, Williams comes over, blocks the shot
from tops in another block by Sarah Williams, Meyers front
court Lightsinger for three left side splashes it. Natalie or
Lightsinger lights it up again from the outside sixty two
thirty eight Wisconsin tops and tight roping the left sideline.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
Keeping it in play for Stevens point.
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):

Speaker 4 (01:30:07):
Get it out of here, Sarah Williams sends it out
of bounds. A block party tonight for Williams. Looking like
the Badger's volleyball team. Right now, Sarah Williams, here's a
(01:30:28):
three right side. That one is no good.
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Hey, you know what it is?
Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
October White Singer to the right, Myers to the free
till I lost the ball. Defender falls fowl. Stevens point,
they'll be called against Carissa Smith.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Seven blocks tonight for Sarah Williams, more blocks than rebounds,
sixty two to thirty eight the lead.
Speaker 4 (01:31:12):
This ties the largest lead of the game. Lightsinger to
go inside. Here's the drive of the baseline. Williams kickout
Myers for.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
Three in the corner. It's gonna be no good.
Speaker 4 (01:31:23):
Rolls out Meyers still hasn't connected from the four O
six from downtown steel Leitzinger batchers have numbers headed the
other way. Spashofski outside left back to Natalie. How about
another three Saints spot Nope, pops out Williams. Sky's high
Greenmount won dribble off yep. Good for Sarah Williams. Sixty

At twenty six and.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
A travel against Stevens point.
Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
Mackie walked with the ball Wisconsin on a six zip run.
Seven minutes to go in this game, Sarah Williams to
the bench. That might be the last we see from Sarah.
Let's take a look at her final stat line. If
(01:32:14):
it is sixteen points, seven rebounds, seven blocks, pretty good,
pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Warm up for the regular season. Myers looks inside off
the hands of mc craye, stolen by the Pointers. Galita
casually walking across.
Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
The mid court strike Myers checks her defensively screened Galita
offensive fall.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
On the screen by Galita. Badger's ball.
Speaker 4 (01:32:50):
Still a six nothing run by the Badgers over the
last two minutes and change, sixty four thirty eight, largest
lead of this game, four Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
We'll do the math for you. It's twenty six. I'm
not sure what the confusion is right now exactly. Badgers
(01:33:28):
will huddle up Steven's point. I'm trying to get some
substitutions in now. The officials say, hey, stop puddling up, Wisconsin.
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:33:39):

Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
Badgers could be in the bonus soon. Pray down. I
just overpowering the five seven Rice Rice bumper in bounds,
bash Off ski to the corner of our side.
Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
Leisinger skips it to the near side. Yovanna driving right
baseline and a blocking fowl.
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
And she barrels into a pointer's defender.
Speaker 4 (01:34:44):
That was true Sean absorbing the contact, getting called for foul.
Six fourteen to play and Yovanna spash off ski to
the free throw line. Freshman out of Belgrade, Serbia, I
(01:35:04):

Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
For you throw no good.
Speaker 4 (01:35:08):
Eleven points and five of eleven shooting, five rebounds and
three assists got the start. Tonight, played with the under
twenty Serbian national team. Koshofski misses a pair. McCray grabs
the rebound, but fell to the floor as she secured
the rock, and that's a travel.
Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
Light singer comes out of the game. Now for the
Badgers man, we've got a near face in there.
Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
Gracy Kresh, a five to eleven freshman from Green Bay

Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
And a pretty good U two number to the regular season.
For the UW three players have stored in double figures,
led by Sarah Williams, who has sixteen points. Don't think
we'll see her again tonight, seven rebounds in seven blocks.
Smashovski has eleven points and five rebounds with three assists.
(01:37:58):
Natalie Leitzinger has hit two threes, has scored ten points

His ball skip to the right side, caught by Gresh

low and it's sixty six to forty.

This max is Wisconsin's largest lead of the game. Under
fire to go pointers ball, Mortenson guides it to the
left corner, caught by a Loftus gives it up to Rice,
Rice Tour right back to Rice. Now to the left

much taller bisball. Loftus guys to get a shot away,
(01:39:18):

foot four freshman rejects the jumper. Here's now was nowhere
to go to d four and a half to go
in this game, I post right album, McCrae spends it
back out to Jimenez, sets the screen Himenez step back.
How about a three fifty nope rebounded by Thompson down
(01:39:38):
bow baseline rebound for the pointers into the front court
to the right side. It is Loftus on Jimenez. Loftis
guides it over to the near corner where Rice grabs
it back to Loftus and Men's defense approaching four minutes
ago off a screen on the right side. Three by
Aubrey Smith is short rebound. Wisconsin rest push ahead with
the past to Kron crown of McCrae, right to the lane,
(01:40:00):
McCray backing down, McCrae stepping through. McCrae scoring down low.
Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
Deep on the right.
Speaker 4 (01:40:06):
Carter McCrae big time moved down low and the Badgers
lead it sixty eight to forty, largest lead of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
Now McCray has reached double figures with ten.
Speaker 4 (01:40:17):
Fourth Badger and double figures, and mccraine needs one more
rebound for double double loftus working on Gresh in the lane, spinning, moisting,
high arching shot, no good. Offensive rebound by Rice to
step back midrains on the left, no good, and it
falls into the hands of bisbald.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
Him en is mid post on the left of McCrae,
kicking out the gress, extra pass corner Crawn three, no rebound. Thompson.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
He's just been collecting a ton of boards tonight. That's
number sixteen for Thompson. The Badgers lead the Pointers by
twenty eight. There are three minutes to play. Morton said,
defunded by Krawn. The Thompson around him then is pull up, Yes,
you got hacked.
Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
Who reached in? There was a kron? Or who men is?
It's Kron? Yeah, jumper's no good.
Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
But now at the free throw line the Pointers will
have a pair from Alexa Thompson. More's ups coming in
for the Badgers. See we keep track of everybody, all right.
So Lena Patti Bamla comes in and Elba Martine Mesa,
a freshman from Spain. Patti Bamla, a sophomore for the Badgers.
(01:41:39):
Frethrow good by Thompson. Two forty eight to go in
this game. Big lead for the Badgers X one back room.
No good auled in by bisball, She'll push to our
teammate Martin Masa, Patti Bamla right baseline float.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Her no good out of bounce Steven's Pointbaull Pointers with
some new faces punish in the five to five freshmen
from Watoma.
Speaker 4 (01:42:22):

Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
Who has a grash, hands off McCray, hands off Martin Masa,
frock court, bob inside bisball power dribble, spinning, has some
size that she connects. Oh, that looks smooth. That looked
really good.
Speaker 4 (01:42:47):
His ball with a turnerund jumper earball by the Pointers
picked up Wisconsin two minutes ago, seventy to forty one,
the Badger's largest lead of the game, now twenty nine.
Crash skips Mesa the big post left bisball again easy, Oh,
how she missed it?
Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Easy? Look, I should say, just came up short on
the layup its own and that one not so smooth.
And then a turnover by the Pointers on a drive
throwing it out of bounds. Is Gary looking for a
teammate in the near corner.
Speaker 4 (01:43:23):
And he goes out of bounds Salatl over the head
of Salatl. Our team mesa front court approaching ninety seconds
ago in this game tonight, crush for Wisconsin between the circles,
Badger's big lead seventy.
Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
To forty one. The McCrae right elbow back on top.
Now biz ball hand off, our team Mesa looking seven
on the shot clock, dropping it off and what's the
call here? Three seconds against oh, foul against McCray fowl
against Carter McCrae.
Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
Twenty nine point Wisconsin lead, pointers ball as this exhibition
is coming to a close here tonight in Madison, Pointers,
throw it away ball. We'll get credit for a steal
after Hagen just threw it over her head, falling out
a bounce Paddy Bandla to the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
Here's a three. It is short by the Badgers into
the game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
That was for a Meal with the miss other side
Pointers missed the layup under a minute to goo our
team Mesa out of there with that right sideline running
Badger's ball still a twenty nine point lead. Our meal
inside this ball out to Paddy Bandla. How about a
three from the left short dresh rebound in the lane.
(01:44:48):
Fighting lost it fowl thirty one seconds to go, thirty
one point nine, and the Badgers are in the bonus
team bowel number six against Steven's point. Wisconsin is outscoring
the pointers twelve five, twelve to five in the quarter
after I was scoring them by ten twenty four fourteen
(01:45:10):
in the third. So this half, what is that thirty
seven nineteen Now after the free throw by Gresh, next
one by Gresh is good, seventy two to forty one,
(01:45:35):
thirty one point Badger's lead twenty two seconds to go
in this one pointers robbin left baseline and the pass
from Vandenberg is out of bounds. Wisconsin can hold on
and dribble this one out to come away with the
win tonight. Wisconsin inbounds, Martine Mesa can dribble it out.
(01:46:00):
We're down to ten seconds to go in this game,
and the Badgers are gonna come away with a thirty
one point win over Stevens point seventy two to forty
one the final score, and Wisconsin offends the pointers in
this exhibition tune up before the regular season.
Speaker 2 (01:46:21):
Once again, that final.
Speaker 4 (01:46:22):
Score Wisconsin seventy two, Stevens point forty one. Coming up
on the postgame show, We're gonna run through the final
numbers for you. Will listen to some highlights too, and
we'll hear from assistant coach fro Jero when we come back.
Postgames show gets underway next This is Badger Basketball from
(01:46:43):
Lear postgame show is underway from.
Speaker 2 (01:46:49):
The Coal Center. John Obvious with you.
Speaker 4 (01:46:50):
Where Wisconsin wins its exhibition game tonight agains Steven's points
seventy two to forty one, joined by the Badger's Lily Krown.
How to feel to get out on the floor and
have some competition here tonight?
Speaker 11 (01:47:01):
It just felt surreal, like we're back on the court.
We're here with the new team. We're here to show
everybody what we're about, and I think.
Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
We did that. Yeah, what do you think about the
new pieces around you and your teammates this season? How's
everything working so far?
Speaker 11 (01:47:14):
I think we're we mesh really well together. Like we
got test Meyers a graduate, we got her for shooting,
we got Carter to give Sarah some minutes there, and
I just think they really.
Speaker 6 (01:47:23):
Fit in with us.
Speaker 4 (01:47:23):
Well, yeah, what's the best part about the team that
you've seen through practice and now through this first exhibition game?
Speaker 2 (01:47:28):
What do you think are going to be some of
the stronger points of this team.
Speaker 11 (01:47:33):
The stronger points I feel like are going to be
like our unselfishness. We pass the ball really well when
we get working together, like there's nobody that can stop us.
Speaker 4 (01:47:42):
Four players scored in double figures. Sarah Williams was a
block party really for her with seven blocks to night
she led the way with sixteen. What would you think
You mentioned Carter McCray, she just missed out on a
double double. What do you think she'll bring to the
team this year?
Speaker 11 (01:47:55):
I really think that she'll bring us like the O boards,
like we really need those, and like just her overall
like defense and strong like strength, like she's just always
in the pain, always getting those O.
Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
Boards for us. You scored three points tonight. You hit
a three pointer? Had to feel good? No, really good?
Speaker 6 (01:48:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
Yeah. What's your off season like heading into this season.
Speaker 11 (01:48:13):
Just a lot of time in the weight room, a
lot of time in the gym, a lot of getting
in with the coaches.
Speaker 6 (01:48:18):
Just a lot of shooting.
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
Yeah, that is that what you're focused on? Stronger and
just more shooting.
Speaker 11 (01:48:23):
Yes, yeah, okay, and defense yeah defense to.
Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
Yeah, okay, Well, congratulations it gets started for real now
a week from tonight.
Speaker 11 (01:48:29):
You guys excited for that, very excited. We've been waiting
for it since summer.
Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
So thanks Lily, thank you all.
Speaker 5 (01:48:35):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:48:35):
That's Lily Kron with us on the postgame show. She'll
hand the headset over to assistant coach fro gerro and
then we'll talk a little bit with coach about this one.
Just talk n Congratulations on the victory. It was a
thirty one point win. What stood out the most to
you tonight about your team?
Speaker 7 (01:48:54):
Gosh, you know, we played hard. You know, we got
some stuff that we got to work on. Our three
point shooting when he shoot it as well as we
would have liked. We still need to take care of
the ball a little bit better. But all and all,
everybody got got to kind of get their feet wet today,
which was good and it's a good learning tape for us.
Speaker 6 (01:49:16):
So we'll watch and get in the lab and get
ready for our right state.
Speaker 2 (01:49:19):
What are some of the things you think you need
to work on. You mentioned some things you need to
work on. What would be some of those things that you.
Speaker 7 (01:49:25):
Saw Yep, our shooting, our free throw shooting, yep, for sure,
just the flow of our offensive execution.
Speaker 6 (01:49:33):
It was a little chopped yet times.
Speaker 7 (01:49:34):
I think the second half we did a lot better
with our transition, which was nice to see, and we
were able to create some of those opportunities with our defense,
So that was good.
Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
Yeah, the free throw shooting, I was going to ask
about that now. Listen, fourteen or twenty nine, it's forty
eight percent. Sarah doesn't go four of twelve usually, you
know what I mean? Like that, that was an aberration,
wouldn't you say?
Speaker 11 (01:49:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:49:53):
Yeah, you know, sometimes in the first game.
Speaker 7 (01:49:55):
I don't want to say jitters or anything, but sometimes
you get so psyched up for the game and just
ready to get go.
Speaker 6 (01:50:00):
I think maybe a lot of that had to had
to do with her her free throw shooting.
Speaker 4 (01:50:04):
Today you all rebounded Steven's point forty two. I'm really excited,
like as a Badger's fan, when I see Carter McCrae
and Sarah Williams both on the court rebounding, and doesn't
that make you excited as a coach.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:50:14):
Absolutely, You have two of the best rebounders in the
country on one team. Yeah, that that's something to be
excited about. So get them and sync and we should
continue to dominate the boards.
Speaker 4 (01:50:23):
Tell me about Yovanna spash I don't know already said
her name correctly, Spashofski. Excuse me, Yovanna Spashovski eleven points,
she gets the start tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:50:34):
What do you like about her game?
Speaker 7 (01:50:36):
Her versatility? You know, she she's able to play a
number of physicians. Her skill set is very versatile.
Speaker 6 (01:50:43):
So she you know, she's.
Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
She's a.
Speaker 7 (01:50:48):
She's just a special player. She's a special player. She's hard,
hard nosed. She has little flair to her game, but
her versatility is what what helps us most.
Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
All right, well, congratulations, an exhibition win done up. Next
to the regular season a week from tonight.
Speaker 6 (01:51:04):
Yes right, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
That's assistant coach fro Jarrow with us on the postgame show.
Speaker 4 (01:51:09):
Badgers win. It's seventy two to forty one over Stevens point.
A break, and we'll come back and look at the
numbers next. This is Badger Basketball from Learfield.
Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
Welcome back, postgame show. John Outius with you.
Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
Seventy two to forty one, Wisconsin will win over Steven's point.
Let's take a look at the final team in numbers tonight,
as the Badgers shoot forty one and a half percent.
We'll round it up forty two percent from the floor
twenty seven of sixty five, twenty four percent shooting for
the pointers tonight on thirteen of fifty four from the
field from outside the three point arc. You heard assistant
(01:51:44):
coach Giroi talk about gotta do a better job from
outside the ark. Wisconsin only knocked down four of twenty
four shots at seventeen percent. The pointers hit five of fourteen.
Free throw line wasn't any better for Wisconsin fourteen of
twenty nine, just forty eight percent. A lot of those misses, though,
did come from Sarah Williams, and it was out of
the ordinary. She's a much better free throw shooter than
(01:52:05):
what happened here tonight. But fourteen to twenty nine for
the Badgers, ten of sixteen from Steven's point from the floor,
rebounding plus three for the Badgers forty five forty two turnovers.
The Badgers forced twenty eight turnovers from Stevens point. Wisconsin
half that number in turnovers, fourteen points off turnovers, huge
advantage for Bucky twenty six to twelve. Meanwhile, Wisconsin did
(01:52:30):
out rebound I mentioned plus three they were plus two
on the offensive glass and second chance points fifteen to six.
Leaders there points in the paint, big big advantage forty
four to fourteen for Wisconsin fast point another big advantage
twenty five to three on the fast break for the Badgers,
who had eleven blocks compared to one for Stevens point
fourteen to seven doubled them up on steals did the Badgers.
(01:52:53):
And assists fifteen for Wisconsin, eight assists for the pointers.
Wisconsin led this game for thirty two minutes. They led
by as many as thirty one. That was the final differential,
but it was a kind of a couple of points
to watch from tonight. The Badgers were trailing by two
early first quarter seven zero run. They never really looked
back after they got it to sixteen to eleven six
(01:53:14):
points in that first quarter from Sarah Williams. At the half,
it was a thirty four to twenty two score. Badgers
actually ended the first quarter on a seven zip run
and then started the second quarter on a four nothing run,
so overall eleven nothing the run for the Badgers, and
then they had another. They had a twelve o run
in the quarter as well, which brought the game from
(01:53:36):
a twenty two to sixteen score to thirty four to sixteen,
so thirty four to twenty two at a half. Badgers
led at fifty eight to thirty six after three, and
they went at seventy two to forty one. We'll take
another break and when we come back, we'll have some
individual numbers for you. Four Badgers in double figures and
what a defensive night from Sarah Williams. Plus we'll hear
(01:53:57):
some highlights from this game as well as the postgame
show continues in two minutes. This is Badger basketball from Learfield.
I'll say what at the post game show for you
as the Bacher's beat Stevens points seventy two to forty
one tonight in an exhibition game at the Coal Center.
(01:54:19):
Let's take a look at the final individual numbers, starting
first for the visitors from Steven's point. They were led
by Alexa Thompson's twelve points and sixteen rebounds tonight, a
double double for Thompson in thirty minutes of action, eight
points from a loftus. She's from Stoton, Wisconsin, hit four thirteen,
