Ducks are in town and another massive opportunity for this
Wisconsin Badgers team still one went away from ball eligibility.

gonna be an offense defense you we have to get

a game like Wisconsin is coming off of in that
Iowa game, even though there was a buye. You have
that bad taste in your mouth. You need to regain

that confidence. And so you have this great atmosphere, You've
got a full house, you got a night game against
that number one. We have to utilize that and I
think getting off to a fast start is gonna get
these guys all.

bit of the mindset going into this big time matchup tonight.

Yeah, following up on what March has said, starting fast
has been something something Wisconsin has been good.

In fact, they've had the lead in seven of nine games,
pitching shutouts over and over and over again and playing
well in that first quarter.

But Oregon is used to playing on the road.

They've got a saying in their locker room called poise
through the noise and dictating the tempo, dictating the atmosphere
even when they're on their road. Now, Wisconsin saw the
opposite of that at Iowa that they could not do that,
and they were flagged for many penalties early in that game,
often before the snap.

Oregon has been suspect to some of the penalties.

Speaker 7 (03:44):
Last week they had twelve against ninety five, so for
ninety five yards dictating that is important. From a mindset standpoint,
I think Wisconsin's playing with nothing to lose at this point.
They had pressured three weeks ago when they played Penn
State coming off three wins. They thought, this is our
chance to get back in the race for the Big Ten,
maybe the national championship picture. Now maybe those things have
cast aside. Nobody thinks they can win this game from

their standpoint, so they're saying, let's let it fly. That's
been there saying under Luke Pikele, and today it feels
like it applied more than anything. Just go out there
and let it rip. Tash you played for a coach.

You love that nobody outside the locker room expected you
to win, right.

You do love to have that mentality, and this team does.
I think it's about just kind of recapturing some things.
Because you get beat the way they did the last
time they were out, there's nothing being positive said.

And there's no better stage against a no bigger opponent
than what these Badgers have an opportunity to do tonight.

green pants and the green trim. Atticus Sappington said, to

for Wisconsin. Here's the run up. Kick is in the

zone where underway as the Badgers go to work first
intent at their own twenty five yard line.

So that was opposite their locker room, and now here
we go. I think you get an opportunity here to
kind of set the tone for this football game. You

compound that with a big one tonight. Getting off to

and then he had plenty of help as Walker goes nowhere.

tried to bounce it outside.

You're going to get some opportunities here for one on
one press man coverage. Oregon is not gonna let Wisconsin
get a run game. They're going to force their issue there.
A lot of guys down in the box.

Second and ten for the Badgers their own twenty five
yard line. Will Paul Slott left, CJ. Williams wide right,
snapped the lock and he'll read it keep it now,
checks down left side and over shoots Tom w Wee
Walker in the left flat. He was wide open with
the pass off the mark and it's third and ten
for the Badgers at their twenty five yard line.

That pretty good protection, had a little run fake and yeah,
and our center pull out to block a defensive end.
Oregon kind of sat into the zone in the middle
of the field. That's where Lock looked initially. And that's
the thing. It's not gonna be a first down, but
you make that throw and instead of it being third
and ten might be third and four. Five. Now you're
in a tough spot.

Empty backfield. Three receivers left, one to the right, darry
and Drew Pree was wide to the right. The running
back now will shift into the backfield to the right
of the quarterback. Braydon Lock third and ten Wisconsin for

Dupre in the backfield, he'll weave across the fifteen, across

was a hot mess, as the Badgers will be forced
to punt three and out to begin the game.

Two EYO two came off of our right side of
the offensive line and was able to Locke was trying
to step up in the pocket and I think he
just got swiped as he was cocking his arm back.
He got the ball swiped out. Good job by Dupree
to get that. That would have been a big time disaster.
Now Wisconsin able to fall on it and punting in
a way instead of giving it to Oregon inside the twenty.

They're punting for their own twenty one yard line. Atticus
Bertram steps up, kick is away end over in Gary
Bryant signals for the fair catch and he'll make it
at the forty yard line in Oregon territory. So not
a minute and a half gone by even thirty nine
yard punt from Atticus Bertrams and the Ducks will take
over first and ten.

We talked to Luke this week about that third down
and third and ten is not going to be a
winning formula for Wisconsin tonight.

backside pressure, rolling left, throwing caught by Stewart inside the
thirty yard line, leans out of bounds at the twenty
five of Wisconsin, a gain of eight yard second and two.
We're not quite three and a half minutes in no
score and Oregon is threatening.

Yeah, Thick and the defensive staff really wanted to hold
on Oregon's right tackle. I believe it was Lowry, Lowry
or Pious coming off of the edge. They didn't get
it and picked.

Up eight three receivers right, two receivers left and now
Jordan James, one of those on the left, will jog
into the backfield for the Wisconsin twenty five yard line.
Second down and two, Gabriel will keep it inside the

just collapsing that inside of Oregon's offensive line and not
giving much room there. And then you said Allegro was
all over the place a couple weeks ago in Iowa City.

Second down in eight, Oregon at the Wisconsin nineteen yard line,
Terrence Ferguson slid right, Gabriel hands off to Evan, winning
ten and he gets nabbed from behind by Elijah Hills
at the eighteen of Wisconsin. Gain of a yard Oregon
looking at a third down and seven.

A great job by Hills, just beating his block, not
kind of not letting that center reach him and then
cross his back across his face, didn't let James get
rolling there and pulled him down. Beautiful job there by
ninety four.

All right, here we go. Third down in seven Oregon,
the Wisconsin eighteen yard line. Whittington is the running back
is he motioned into the backfield just as low slot
of the right Terrence Ferguson's lot of the left shotgun
snap Gabriel. Badgers sent for Gabriel back to throw tight
pocket throwing to Evan Stewart, and he is wrapped up

One big hit and a number of Oregon mistakes have
helped to turn this game around. The throw to Vinnie
Anthony for forty three yards late in the second quarter
helped spur a touchdown drive that also included a defensive
pass interference in the end zone, and Wisconsin scores on

ten to six Wisconsin the break. The thing that surprises
me there is that Oregon quell a lot of it.
But Oregon averages better than thirty five points per game,
and they have six in the first half.

Yeah, And how you limit a high powered offense to
one of their lowest, if not right now, their lowest
points total this season is you got to play good
red zone defense. And luckily that's what the Badgers were
able to do. One tip ball up in the air,
an interception, you force field goals. You're going to keep
yourself in the game, and now you're allowing yourself to
be one more. Dylan Gabriel mistake away, who Mike, He's fantastic.

He's one of the best players at that position in
college football. But he can be mistake prone, and it
for the first thirty minutes, doesn't seem like he's got
his best year.

He completes about seventy five percent of his throws, the
highest completion percentage in college football this year. But he
threw the pick when they had first and goal at
the nine, and that's on him. It was a throw

not been sharp to your point.

to keep you in the ball game. They've done that
through the first thirty minutes, and now you're guaranteed to

The Meanwhile, Wisconsin, who started so poorly in this game
on offense, first nine plays minus three yards. Now Tywe
Walker has sixty three yards on the ground and one
big hit from Braiden Locke that toa Vinnie Anthony helped
set up the touchdown. That was a big throw, big
time adjustment by Anthony to make a forty three yard complete.

It's fantastic.

Braiden Locke's best throw is anything forty yards downfield that appears.
But there's also a response factor to it. That's right
after an offensive holding call that I know tous is
gonna like it. I think they could have called either
tackle on the hole they ended up going with Jack Nelson.

Next play, it's the forty three yard bomb. Immediately get
this crowd into it. They've been wanting to get fired up.
They gave themselves an exact reason to be right there.

But I also think Mike keeping Braydon lock out of
the third and nine, third and ten, that was the
problem on those first three drives.

Speaker 25 (01:49:12):
Yeah, last couple of thoughts, and the other thing in
Dan Landing is probably having some conversation at the half.
It was a defensive pass interference that's set up the touchdown,
and it's a dumb hold in the end zone. The
ball's going out of the back of the end zone
just to panic play by the defensive back.

Yeah, no doubt about it.

The Oregon sideline has a lot of reason to be frustrated.
They're a very, very good football team. They've been playing
their best ball. I think one thing that we've kind
of talked about in the week leading up that eight
games in eight weeks looking towards a bye, they were
a little bit slow in that first half. See if
they can pick it back up here, but see if
the Badgers forced the issue right away.

Oregon's been complicit last quick one. Wisconsin's not been a
good second half team this year. Can they be that tonight?

message about playing the entire game. They have a memory
of their losses this year that many of them may
have been right there at halftime, but have not been
able to string together that four quarter game to win.
Wisconsin has been out scored ninety eight to seventeen in
the second half of their four losses. Let's see if

they've learned anything and if they can improve on that
sat well.

As explosive as Oregon has been offensively this season, the
third quarter has been a bit of a mystery, in
the least productive quarter. So if the Badgers can keep

right side James or catch twenty five outside of numbers
thirty and scoots out of downs near the thirty five

near the fifteen of Wisconsin. He's just that badger's get pressure.

This says our local Wisconsin and up boy Dealers postgame
show as the Oregon Ducks with an escape tonight. But
that's what championship teams could do when you're not at
your best, you are when you have to be. As
Oregon puts ten on the board of the fourth quarter
to defeat Wisconsin sixteen to thirteen on a night touch
with a Badger defense did absolutely all it could and

(03:25:31):
outside of the second quarter, really the Wisconsin offense just
flatt didn't get it done, and enough key penalties at
the worst possible times, and just things that cannot happen.
If you're going to try to pull an upset, I think.

You're you're as a Badger fan tonight, you're gutted because
it's not that you lost the game, it's the way
the game played out, and everybody emptied the bucket.

Gave everything we had. Guys were flying around. I mean
Wohler left the field. He left everything he had out
on that football field. And to limit a really good
offense that had not been held under thirty all season
in the Big Ten tonight to hold them to sixteen points,
you have to find and muster enough offense to find

a way to win that game, and tonight, I just
I think you look at how we played on offense
and way too inconsistent and just could not figure out
a way to convert third downs. And it's not just
because it was third down, it was because penalties and
because lost yardage runs. You can't expect to be third

(03:26:37):
and eight plus against good teams and convert a lot
of them, And I think that probably tells the story
as much as anything.

Five to three and outs tonight, including the first three
possessions for Wisconsin, and there was a four play possession
they lost the ball on downs and then on the
second play of the final possession was the interception. So
just really no consistent ability team play drive that led
to a field goal, the nine play seventy five yard

(03:27:05):
drive in the second quarter to the touchdown, a sixteen
play drive, but that ended in disappointment. They got the
field goal, but the touchdown that they had it was
kind of a busted play, a lefty throw from Braydon
Locke and he was on the edge of being completely
beyond the line of scrimmage. That wasn't what the flag
was an eligible man down field. They settled for three

(03:27:25):
and again, you just when you're trying to do something special,
those things cannot occur.

Speaker 6 (03:27:30):
Yeah, you have to take advantage of the opportunities when
you get him. In Wisconsin, I think there are three
or four plays. Like every game that's a good football game,
they have to go your way, and they all went
Oregon's way with all that, even with the craziness that
happened on the touchdown that wasn't and then that fourth
and ninth play is what I think for the con

(03:27:51):
for Oregon on the conversion right after jump around, coming
out right out of the gates, when you're up by
a touchdown, that play that he made and able to
get out out of the pocket and make that throw
that was big ten.

That's why they're the number.

One team and that's why they have national championship aspirations
because you make those plays. But from Wisconsin's end, you
had those opportunities. You took points off the board. And
in the same play, Braydon Locke, who people are going
to criticize and get after, no doubt, but he makes
a great throw YEP and there's a chop lock and
it turns out you have to give the football back

(03:28:25):
and that leads to the game winning field goal. And
so you just when you play good teams, you can't
make mistakes like we did tonight.
