Now Here's aiden Michael's.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
And Welcome inside Labon Arena here in Madison, Wisconsin. You're
listening to the pregame show here on ten seventy of
the game. My name is Aiden Michaels. Last weekend, the
Badgers went to Saint Cloud, Minnesota to take on the
number ten ranked Saint Cloud State Huskies over at the Herbrooks.
Speaker 7 (01:52):
National Hockey Center.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Now, they had a dominant win in that first game,
winning five to one, as Caroline Harvey scored her seventh
and eighth goal of the year, and she's been on
an absolute tear as of late. In fact, the first
three goals of that game came from blue liners. The
defensive pairs were getting it done on offensive and defensive
sides of the game.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
They were doing super great in that first game.
Speaker 6 (02:12):
They ended up getting that five to one victory, and
Emma Venusio also one of the defensemen getting the goal
as well. She scored the first goal of that game.
It was her second goal in as many games, the
first goal streak of her career young career, beating her
career high. She had one goal in her rookie season
last year, has two already this season, so she's already
improving on the offensive end of things, but it was
(02:32):
a different story in the next game.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
However. The next day, Saint Cloud State were the one
that took the lead.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
It was one of the first times this season that
the Badgers actually gave up a lead in the first period.
They were not really on the front foot to start
things off. The Badgers were not doing a great job
getting the puck out of their zone. A lot of
defensive zone turnovers and that ended up being costantly. The
Badgers gave up that first goal about halfway a little
bit before halfway through the first period. Then the Badgers
(02:58):
started to play the hockey that we know that they
can play. They answered back late in that first period,
score on a goal, then added two more in the
second period, so they took a three to one lead.
And you know, a two goal lead isn't very comfortable.
It's the most dangerous lead in hockey, a two goal lead.
So they had a lead, but it wasn't all too
comfortable because then the Huskies came back scored two to
un answered goals of their own to tie the game
(03:19):
up at three, another defensive zone turnover resulting in a
Husky goal. Two of those first three goals came from
a Badger mistake in their own zone. Badgers then took
the lead again with six minutes to go in regulation,
only to give up the lead two minutes later. There
was a five minute power play the Badgers had, but
about two minutes of about the thirty seconds went by,
the Badgers took a penalty, Lacey Eden got called for
(03:41):
an interference call, and then on that four on four
Sydney Lamb scored her first career goal for the Huskies
to tie that game up. Badgers then took the lead
again in the power play, only for the game to
be tied up again on the power play for the
Husky So it was just a special team goal after
special team goal after special team goals.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
So they ended in a tie like they did last
year year.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
And then after that we went to overtime, a lot
of two on ones, a lot of breakaways, but the
goalies stayed strong, no goals in that overtime period, went
to the shootout, and after seven shooters each, the Badgers
took home that extra point thanks to Laney Potter who
got it done. Now today they play against Saint Thomas
who are having a pretty good season compared to last year.
(04:21):
They're doing well, it's gonna be a tough one. Some
of the best faceoff takers in the nation on this
Saint Cloud team. The Badgers go with a little bit
of a different line up, Claire enright back on the
first line as Maggie Scandal goes down to the third
line playing with Marianne Bacard and Finley McCarthy and then
gor Ptenko, Hall and Eden are gonna be on the
second line. As for the defense pairings out tonight is
(04:42):
Vivian Jungles, so we don't have much information on that
other than she is not in the lineup after perhaps
an injury suffered in Saint Cloud.
Speaker 7 (04:50):
So that's gonna be a tough blow.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Wisconsin's leading shot blocker not gonna be in the lineup today,
So it'll be Mackenzie Jones that slots in on that
second pairing with Laney Potter, Caroline Harvey Edwards on that
first pairing, and Ava Murphy and I'm of Venusio on
that third.
Speaker 7 (05:03):
The extra skater Grace Bickett.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
Now, Paul Brown had a chance to talk to head
coach Mark Johnson out of today's game, so we're going
to take a listen to that.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
This is the Coach's Corner presented by Fields Madison. Take
a listen.
Speaker 8 (05:18):
Back on the pregame show Paul Brown with HW Hockey
coach Mark Johnson, Mark Saint Cloud, you got most of
the points except one. Seven players in a shootout? Have
you ever done that before?
Speaker 9 (05:32):
We've got a few shootouts, you know, get up in
that number.
Speaker 10 (05:35):
But you know, when the goalies are seeing the puck
and playing well, some nights it can be hard to score.
Speaker 9 (05:40):
And we saw that in the shoot up.
Speaker 10 (05:42):
But eventually, you know, Potter went in and was able
to shoot the puck in and ended up getting that
extra point. And it might seem like a little thing,
but down the road it might be the point that
puts you in a position where if he got hadn't
got that point, you know, you might be lower in
the standing.
Speaker 9 (05:57):
So that actually Saturday's.
Speaker 10 (05:59):
Game was very entertaining if you were a fan at
the game, whether you're rooting for us or saying Cloud,
you got entertained.
Speaker 8 (06:04):
You were quoted earlier in the week, I believe at
the press conference. You like what you see on the
I just what does that mean?
Speaker 10 (06:09):
Well, you just the kids doing the little things, and
as I said, you know at the press conference to
every game, you know, as we watch them and our
players play them, you learn about each other and the
coaching stance learns about situations. And there was some situations,
you know, in Saturday's game that we didn't do a
very good job and they ended up capitalizing on them.
And you know, you get up a goal four to
(06:29):
three late in the game, and you know, what do
you need to do to make sure you preserve that
and win the game. So a lot of these little
things and we end up taking a penalty, you know,
which costs us a power.
Speaker 9 (06:38):
Play goal which ended up, you know, tying the game up.
Speaker 10 (06:40):
But you know, it's a game where we took a
bunch of things away from it and we can learn
from and we'll see tonight and tomorrow if we've learned
those things.
Speaker 8 (06:48):
Hey positive, they're getting your lineup back. Edward's back, Shappie's back,
Potter's back.
Speaker 10 (06:54):
Yeah, yeah, Jungles won't play tonight, but yeah, we you know,
last weekend, you know, a bunch of our kids hadn't
played in a period of time, some of three weeks,
some of them a little bit longer. So they got
they got back into game speed. So those players, you know,
Potter and Adella, you know Sims missed some games and
so you know, those kids, I think this weekend, you know,
(07:14):
will be better than they were last weekend, and you know,
give us some more boost. As far as things on
the offensive side of.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
The game, Mark I had an interesting conversation with Kristen Simms,
and I said, you know, I don't understand, but it's
fun to listen or find out from you. You've got
two different teams you're playing on, you've got two different
styles of coaching that's going on, You've got school going on,
(07:41):
you've got travel going on, and that kind of thing.
And she talked about the fact of it's very interesting,
she's excited, she's looking forward to it and that kind
of thing. But I think we forget about all the
things that those prospective Olympiums got going.
Speaker 10 (07:57):
Yeah, I mean there's a component, the physical component of it,
but also equally is important. Some of the things we
learned last weekend is the emotional taxing on these kids.
And so they were over playing against Canada in front
of two full houses in Cleveland and Buffalo, and you know,
then you come back here and you know, is your
emotional level still higher, You're still excited to play. So
(08:18):
I relate it back to, you know, when I was
coaching on the men's side, and you know, we had
several players different years playing that under twenty tournament at
Christmas and they would go up for two two and
a half weeks and do their thing and play, and
you know, whether they won the gold medal or dent,
you know, they always came back and it was just
sort of like blah for about two weekends and then
they would start kicking back in.
Speaker 9 (08:39):
So those are the things that they have to deal with.
Speaker 10 (08:42):
So when they leave us and they have these experiences,
when they come back, it's like, where's your emotional level?
You know, where are you physically? Are you tired? You know, physically,
are you tired emotionally? And so and that's going to happen.
And then you get into this time of year. It's
sort of those dark days. You know, the weather's darker
now and it's raining and here comes winter, and so
I'm not quite as excited as I was maybe for
(09:04):
the first game or when Minnesota comes in. So all
the things you have to manage, and as coaches, we
have to you know, be aware of too.
Speaker 8 (09:12):
She said, I compartmentalize it. And I said, how do
you do that? She was kind of chuckling and laughing.
She says, I have two brains. One of them is
my Badger brain and the other one is the Olympic brain.
And she goes, today, I'm on the Badger brain, which
is good.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
That's you know.
Speaker 10 (09:27):
We talked to those kids, you know, as the season started,
was you know, wherever you're at, that's where you need
to be.
Speaker 9 (09:33):
You need to be present. You know, I have two
feet in the boat.
Speaker 10 (09:36):
So if you're playing for us here at Wisconsin, you know,
you need to meet to gauge, need to be focused.
When you leave us, then you get an opportunity to
do something that's special. So I guess I've always said
it's a learning experience. And the big thing is, you know,
this is the longest stretch we'll have these kids together,
and so we've got three more weekends and my big
thing is like, what are we going to do better
(09:56):
this weekend than.
Speaker 9 (09:57):
We did last week? And that's what I'm looking for
in the two games.
Speaker 8 (10:01):
What are you looking for in Saint Thomas?
Speaker 10 (10:04):
You know there'll be similar to Saint Cloud. I mean,
Saint Cloud was very competitive, but they're a very international team.
They have kids from all over the map. They have
a young Russian player that played really well from last weekend.
You know, these kids are made mostly of Saint Thomas's
of Minnesota kids, different you know, high schools in Minnesota,
so they're going to.
Speaker 9 (10:22):
Have a good skill level.
Speaker 10 (10:24):
You know, last year their goalie played well against us,
and so you look for things that are going to
give us an opportunity maybe score some goals, and can
we capitalize on that. My big thing is that first
ten or twelve minutes of today's game. You know, we
need to play downhill, We need to play on our toes,
We need to play aggressive and see if we can
create some opportunities.
Speaker 8 (10:40):
And I here earlier today there was not maybe the
best ice yere.
Speaker 10 (10:45):
Well, yeah, you never know where you know, your zamboni
might break, or the pipes or the compressors and things
like that.
Speaker 9 (10:51):
But we got great staff and they worked on it.
So everything's back to normal.
Speaker 10 (10:55):
So that's a good thing because you know, if you
miss a game along the way, and how do you
make it up and what do you have to do.
And we've been we've been in that ship before, and
you just make you know, it's like life, things happen,
you figure things out, make changes, just and.
Speaker 8 (11:09):
Do what you need to do, and hopefully you'll do
a wonderful things tonight and pick up another win.
Speaker 9 (11:14):
I'm looking forward to.
Speaker 10 (11:15):
You know how we come back, and you know our
energy level and our enthusiasm, because you know that's the
first step and having a good game as being excited
to play. And I hope everybody on our team's excited
to play tonight because you only get so many home games,
and in two hours when the game's over, that one's
done and you can't get it back. So make the
most of it and enjoy it and have some great
fun doing it.
Speaker 11 (11:34):

And back at Lebon Arena. Good evening, everybody. Along with
Mark Greenhall, I'm Paul Brown as we get set to
bring you game one of this two game WCCHA series
between Minnesota State Man Cato and the Wisconsin Badger Greeny h.
(13:02):
They're introducing the starting lineup for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 15 (13:06):
Here, and it's good that the Badgers are going to
be close to pull shred.
Speaker 16 (13:12):
Yeah, we've got everybody out there this evening except Vivian Jungles.
Speaker 17 (13:17):
It's the only one that we're missing right now, and
hopefully maybe she can come back tomorrow. We'll see.
Speaker 15 (13:21):
You had a lot of fun up in Saint Clown.
Seven players on the shootout.
Speaker 16 (13:25):
Oh man, I'll tell you. It was a goaltenders duel
there in the shootout. Fortunately we won that, but wish
we could have stopped a few more.
Speaker 17 (13:33):
Prior to that.
Speaker 15 (13:34):
What do you hear about Saint Thomas, You know not.
Speaker 16 (13:39):
I haven't heard a whole lot, But one thing I
know is they give each each team that they play,
they seem to give them a contest. You know, they
have the opportunity to win, and they take advantage of it.
You know they're and you know we're going to get
their best shot. We seem to get that from everybody.
Speaker 8 (13:56):
And the starting lineup tonight for the Wisconsin Badgers Caroline
Harvey defensively.
Speaker 15 (14:02):
With Playla Edwards and up front of the Wisconsin.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
Badgers, who've got the opening line of Claire right on
the left side, Chapel Vallavova.
Speaker 15 (14:15):
At center, and Kirsten Simms on the right wing.
Speaker 8 (14:19):
And Ava McNaughton will be the goaltender tonight for the
Wisconsin Badgers. We're gonna have them playing and singing of
our national anthem, and then we'll be back for the
Tommies and the Badgers, and that's coming up here on
ten seventy the game. Would you like more time to

Speaker 8 (15:42):
And we're back here at Lebon Arena, catching the end
of our national anthem. It wiscons and Badgers have been
very effective here at Lebon Arena. One hundred and sixty
one wins, twelve velosses, and only nine ties over that
(16:03):
period of time.
Speaker 15 (16:04):
Meanwhile, the Wisconsin.
Speaker 8 (16:06):
Badgers overall, this building has been very good to them
since it's been opened. Two hundred wins, twenty two losses,
and twelve ties overall and one hundred and fifty three shutouts.
Speaker 15 (16:18):
Wisconsin will be moving from our right to our.
Speaker 8 (16:21):
Left, and the Tommy's at Saint Thomas College and the
Twin Cities will be moving left to right. They are
eight and eight on the year. They are three and
seven in the WCCHA. The Badgers are twelve one and
one overall in the year, and they are eight one
and one in the WCCHA, tied with Ohio State for
(16:46):
the lead, and right behind them Minnesota and Minnesota Duluth.
Speaker 15 (16:52):
Not that far behind it, Greening. I guess that's what
we kind of expected.
Speaker 16 (16:55):
Right, Yeah, we've got that log jam at the top
there with the exact team that we figured upon, and
and like you look at Saint Thommy's shore, they've got
three wins in the WHA already this year.
Speaker 17 (17:06):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 16 (17:08):
Different teams in Ohio State pretty tough. Yeah, they did,
and that was a true test obviously, and.
Speaker 8 (17:14):
Their opening line is going to have Madison Brown on
it with Ella Berger and Lindaman will open up on
that opening line and back defensively.
Speaker 15 (17:23):
They've got gas Dick.
Speaker 8 (17:26):
The two gas Dicks on the team are paired together
that family representing the number one pairing in defense for
the Tommies of Saint Thomas. And they control the drawn,
they'll play it down on the left wing corner of
the Badgers zone. Harvey going back of it and pick
it up quickly shuffles it around over to Layley Edwards.
(17:47):
She passes it to the nearboard center ice. The Badgers
turn and try to come through the neutral zone and
Wright will try to back Canada head and play comes
to the near wall at center ice. Badgers sims with it,
sims around on the near side over the Harvey. Harvey
will play it around over the lay Lan Edwards in
the neutral zone back over the Harvey skating up the
(18:09):
right side. Harvey comes in over the line with a
drive and it's knocked the side by their goaltender. Strum
played back out over the center ice. Both teams at
full strength just underway nineteen fifteen, remaining here whistle and
play is going to be stopped at the blue line
of Wisconsin.
Speaker 17 (18:28):
Yeah, little offsides there sat Tommy's.
Speaker 8 (18:32):
They look pretty quick out the gate here, and they
have two of the better face off people in women's
college hockey three and four in the country rated Burger
and Bart's. And it's going to be played back down
back in behind Ava McNaughton, who shuffled it around to
the far side. Badger's change. Gorbatanka was out with Hall
(18:53):
and Eden and a forward line and it's good to
get everybody back in the lineup except for the defenseman.
Vivian Jungles the Venusio backup to pick it up. She
picked up her gold in Saint Cloud or third of
the year. Badgers in front of their own bench and
the far boards try to play it, but Ava McNaughton
(19:14):
will slide it around of the break. Wisconsin comes through
neutral ice. It's going to be intercepted there and dumped
back in over the line of Wisconsin by Gasdik put
away by Ava McNaughton in the first period. Wisconsin has
scored twenty goals on the year. They have scored seventy
(19:35):
three goals in fourteen games. They've only allowed eighteen goals
to be scored upon him and picking it up as
Laney Potter back in the lineup after the injury on
the lead tried to hit McCarthy and play is going
to be stopped and an icing will be called against Wisconsin.
Speaker 17 (19:54):
Yeah, I wish that could have hit McCarthy.
Speaker 15 (19:56):
Stick there, base off will come up back the zone
of Wisconsin.
Speaker 8 (20:01):
Eighteen minutes twenty seconds remaining here in the first period
from Lebon Arena.
Speaker 15 (20:09):
Badgers go back of it to set it up.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
They play it around in behind Wisconsin looking to control
it and they play it with it.
Speaker 15 (20:16):
Scandal is out with.
Speaker 8 (20:17):
Pericard moving it in shot kick Dowys rebound came out
in front and right there all alone was McCarthy, but
it was blocked as she tried to get that short
drive in front of the nab and Saint Thomas works
it back into the Wisconsin line. The Badgers will turn
and slide it all the way down the ice and
going back of it to pick it up. His mom
(20:39):
mom around on the far side. Badger's for checking trying
to hold his zone with McCarthy along with Scannal and
the Tommy's.
Speaker 15 (20:47):
Turn try to bring it out.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
Harvey holds it in at the point, fired it around
on the right side over the Layla Edwards Badgers change
up coming back in.
Speaker 15 (20:56):
There's a drive, it's deflected in traffic. It comes back
to the point. Harvey holds it in. Nice job. Yeah,
made round on the far side picking.
Speaker 8 (21:03):
It up as Zillage and behind it at Wisconsin trying
to pressure with Peking, Hogen and Halverson and the Tommy's
will dump it up the far side, but it went
into their bench area and we'll have the face off
coming up back in the zone of Saint Thomas College
in the Twin Cities.
Speaker 16 (21:21):
You know, just that little stuff that we just saw
Harvey do there by the blue line. There's no way
I thought you could keep it in. She gets it
under control, makes a nice pass to a teammate.
Speaker 15 (21:29):
In the zone.
Speaker 8 (21:30):
Harvey now has forty four goals in her career. That
is tops in the history of Wisconsin hockey. She went
past Sis Poulsen. She's also got one hundred and sixty
one points in his career and the all time record
for points by someone defensively in women's hockey is Ronda Curtain,
(21:52):
and she's only six points short. Of time that record,
Yeah does thinkes She'll break it into the Sims with
a drive right on and that's going to be blocked
and knocked down. Gas Dick with it turned and played
it back out over the center ice fucking the neutral zone.
Sims plays it around over the wetwards. Edward's on the
(22:14):
lead over the end right the left winger comes in
with a drive and it's knocked down. Picked it up
and shappel volli bobo with it around over to KK Harvey.
Speaker 15 (22:23):
Harvey played it through traffic around over to Schappie. That's
Volvo Bolva. The nickname Shaffie go as Shappy. I'm sticking
with that.
Speaker 8 (22:32):
I'm going around to the far side. It's going to
be played back down on the Badgers. And the Badgers
have signed seven new recruits and another one is from
Europe with.
Speaker 19 (22:42):
A long name.
Speaker 8 (22:44):
Come of the ice coming in over the line controlling
his Aba Murphy and the puck is loose, Eden trying
to hold it in.
Speaker 15 (22:51):
Eden is out with Hull and Gorbatanco.
Speaker 8 (22:54):
Venusio plays it back in behind and Strum is there
to whip it around the boards, trying to bring it out.
Sixteen oh five weremitting in the scoreless first period.
Speaker 15 (23:05):
Badger's with it right out in front.
Speaker 8 (23:07):
They had somebody in front of the acid, yeah, and
they couldn't connect on that passing combo. Badgers try to
work it out of their own zone. Venusio had to
take it away by Lindeman and it's turned back by
Wisconsin coming in over the line with it and trying
the backhander, and Gorbatanco with it around over the Venusio.
(23:29):
Venusio is checked along the sideboards in front of the
Tommy bench and Badgers set it up in the neutral
zone over to play it around over the hall.
Speaker 15 (23:38):
All try to go to Gorbitenko. Turned by Saint Thomas.
Speaker 8 (23:41):
They come back into the Wisconsin line and there's a
driver that was deflected in the corner and the Tommy's
look to hold the zone.
Speaker 15 (23:49):
Badger's on the far side. They lift it and it
bounces down and it goes all the way back no
icing call. The Tommies have to go back to set
it up.
Speaker 8 (23:59):
HOW'SI with it on the player round on the near
side and the Badgers on the fore check try to
hold it in back handed out and trying to bring
it from the zone. Was Rice in the neutral zone
picking it up Picard. Picard skates in over the lines.
Pricard is out along with Scannal and McCarthy on the
forward line back of de Laney. Potter with a shot
(24:22):
almost tipped in front by Pricard, bucked loose along the
far boards.
Speaker 15 (24:26):
No score in the game.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
Quick pace here fourteen thirty eight, remating in the first
period Saint Thomas College and the Badgers from Lebon Arena

it on the line in the past to Pcard Pecard
turned and fired a shot that went wide of the goal.
Around on the far side. Over to try and pick
(24:49):
it up and play in the neutral zone. Wisconsin's Lela
Edwards tried to pick it up. Edward's down on one knee,
held in coming back in his barts trying to go
in show that went high and wide of the gold
but pressure by the Tommy. You can see where they're
a vastly improved team.
Speaker 17 (25:07):
Immensely improved.
Speaker 15 (25:08):
Yes around on the far side.
Speaker 8 (25:09):
They've also got a brand new rink in the Twin Cities,
money donated by one family. It's either forty or fifty
million dollars or something.
Speaker 17 (25:18):
They've really made the commitment there, you know.
Speaker 15 (25:20):
In fact the WHA final five is.
Speaker 17 (25:22):
Going to be in that ye there, yep, looking forward
to it.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
Around over the Layley Edwards, Leila bringing it out over
to Harvey. Harvey stick handing of the puck coming through
center ice. Here's Harvey coming in over the line and
it was pop checked from her stick. Good job defensively
by the Tommy. They come back in over the Badger
line shot blockers saved by McNaughton down to thirteen twenty
four Remedican a scoreless first period, Badger's full strength looked
(25:48):
to bring it out of their own zone. Buck is
knocked down at the blue line, Maxwell in front of
the Badger bench far boards. Tommy's looking for help to
try to set it up Saint Thomas College in front
of their own bench, and they'll control it around on
the near side with it at Maxwell. Maxwell on the
pass ahead coming back into the line. Lindsey is out
(26:10):
on that line controlling it as Parker and sour on
the forward unit.
Speaker 15 (26:14):
Badgers play it up Ice within the neutral zone.
Speaker 8 (26:18):
It's going to be turned back Parker controls it on
their right wing, try to go back door on the
pass to breaking through was Rice. Badgers turned it up
and bring it back in Venusio coming in over the line.
Venusio shot it wide of the goal. Sims tried to
hold it in, turned back by the Tommies. Badgers try
to bring it to neutral ice and controlling it along
(26:40):
the boards and over to try and pick it up.
We're at the twelve to twenty four mark of the
first period and still no break in terms of scoring.
Speaker 15 (26:49):
We're tied at zero. Shots, are four to three.
Speaker 8 (26:52):
In the game and controlling it up, coming up ice
with it one ninebore our line back down in the corner,
goes Owns Jones in behind the net of Wisconsin around
on the playover the Kirsten Sims and it's going to
be held in by Linderman and Wisconsin will try to
bring it out of their own zone and the fuck
is loose it center ice and right with it. We'll
(27:14):
play it back in Badger's change up. Sims in along
with a Chapel and Enwright leave the ice turning controlling it.
There's Brown who will dump it in behind. David McNaughton
eleven remaining in the first period. Harvey with it on
the break. Harvey gets the return from Edwards. Harvey skates
in over the blue line, comes in on the left wing,
(27:34):
pulls up back out on top Laylo with a drive
that was blocked out front. It's turned away by Barts,
who worked it up the wing on the far side.
Speaker 15 (27:44):
The race is on. Born tried to pick it up
and it goes all the way back.
Speaker 8 (27:49):
Wisconsin hustling over to pick it up, with Eiden getting
there first.
Speaker 15 (27:53):
Aiden gets there back. Wow effort by and then gave
the best the garb Magno who.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
Got her tenth doll of the year on a beautiful goal.
Speaker 16 (28:10):
Man Just pure hustle by Lacy Eden to beat the
opponent to the end. Wall gets the puck, she knows
Gorba Tainko's coming down the slot, slides a quick backhand
right on the money tape the tape. Gorbo puts it
away over the blockers side up in the corner for
our first goal of the night. Nice play, beautiful job
(28:31):
by Eden's eight.
Speaker 8 (28:32):
Forty nine into the period, the Badgers score the goal
and Wisconsin is up lond to nothing.
Speaker 15 (28:39):
Here, boy, was that a beautiful goal.
Speaker 17 (28:41):
You're not kidding.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Totally smoked and the as you mentioned, the effort by
Eden was just outstanding. You got it, Paul, and coming
back through center ice, the Badgers coming back in over
the line. We're nearing the halfway mark of the first period.
Mark Johnson said he wanted to see how the team
team would perform in the first ten to twelve minutes
of the game and see if they were.
Speaker 15 (29:05):
Up on their toes. I'll tell you what Eden was
up on our toes.
Speaker 8 (29:09):
Our NAT player, Yeah, you're not kidding, coming up ice control,
I get bringing it through neutralized per card comes in
over the line and it's gonna be played to stramble
and we may have a penalty called here and the Badgers, yep,

Speaker 8 (30:03):
One fifty five remaining in the advantage are round over
the KK Harvey, back over the laylay Edwards, Laila just
inside the blue line. A round over to Kirstin Simms.
They got Eden out in the ice and Wisconsin on
the power play. Here's Harvey directing traffic around over to
Kirstin Simms down on the corner of the right side.
She skates in behind the net, comes around on the
(30:23):
near side, slides it around over to laylay Edwards, still
working the near wing boards, back out on top over
the Sims, back over the Harvey. Harvey with a puck
around on the play, goes over to Layla Edwards. Back
over to Harvey with a drive. Oh it hit the
pipe on the far side. Around on the far side
laylay Edwards. We have one sixteen remitting in the power play.
(30:44):
Badger's looking to set it up. Harvey with a drive
in traffic and the puck is going to be cleared
out of the zone. Badgers have sixteen power play goals
in the year. They are led by Harvey with a
total of four. Here's Kirsten Simms comes over the line,
controlling it on the near side, angles it around the boards.
(31:04):
Eden will play it along on the far side, trying
to pick it up to the point on the play
over the Murphy Badger's eating with it. They work the
far boards. There's forty three seconds remitting in the power play.
Saint Thomas clears it the center Ice Gorbatanco knocks that down.
Here's Landy Potter carrying it in over the line. She's
checked along the boards, just inside the blue line. Badgers
(31:28):
try to control the puck. Cassie Hall's got it. Cassie
with a shot went wide of the goal. Scmal on
the rebound wrap and it went all the way back
out of the zone. Good idea twenty seconds remitting six
to three the shots. Badgers come in over the line
backhandor and it's knocked out. Good effort by Cassie Hall,
who's got eleven goals on the year and eight thirty
(31:50):
five remaining in the first period.
Speaker 15 (31:52):
Badger's with a one to nothing lead.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
Wisconsin will turn and they come out of their own
zone up the ice, back in over the line. Tommy's
her back at whole strength. Saint Thomas does not allow
the Badgers on the power play to score.
Speaker 15 (32:05):
Gorbtenko, who will be our guest between.
Speaker 8 (32:08):
Intermission one and two tonight and scored the goal for
her per tenth of the year, laid back in behind
eight oh eight, remaining in the period, coming back over
to try and pick it up. Back in behind Saint
Thomas trying to control the puck. The Tommies are tied
up along the boards. Badger's pinning it against the boards
(32:28):
in behind the net. Ava kind of just looking over
her shoulder as what's going to happen here? Get five, five, six,
seven people there, trying to get control of the puck
back in behind round in behind the net comes around
on the play on the right side.
Speaker 15 (32:44):
There's a drive and.
Speaker 8 (32:45):
To cover up and a save is made and we're
gonna have a time out. I believe we'll take a break.
This is Wisconsin Badger women's hockey.

Made the Hall of Fame earlier in the summer. They

That must have been it.
Speaker 21 (34:16):
That was it?
Speaker 15 (34:17):

Speaker 8 (34:18):
Oh boy, Mark Greenhall did go into the Wisconsin Hockey
Hall of Fame this past summer up in Eagle River.
Speaker 17 (34:26):
Quite a humbling honor.
Speaker 8 (34:27):
Played back around over the layley edwards behind the at
around the boards in the past, Badgers tried to come
out of their own zone. They control it, but the
Tommy's break it up at the blue line, play it
back in behind the that Wisconsin over to pick it
up and Harvey with it will turn an outcomes Wisconsin.
They come in over the line trying to control the
buck and they're offside at the blue line. Well, what
(34:50):
do you think about the first twelve minutes in forty
six seconds.
Speaker 16 (34:54):
I think it's been pretty good, pretty good piece. We've
had a few chances at the net, but I don't
think we can afford to be sloppy breaking it out.
You just saw that there a little bit of a
turnover and that'll cost.
Speaker 17 (35:06):
You later in the game.
Speaker 15 (35:06):
So eighting that up a little and right ready for
the face off.
Speaker 8 (35:11):
Shapovalovova is out trying to get that draw, but the
Hussy's controlled it and they'll play it back down in
the corner. Badgers go back of it and set it
up and try to bring it out of their own zone,
and the puck is played by Wisconsin and Schapo fell down.
Speaker 15 (35:27):
But when she was down, she passed.
Speaker 17 (35:29):
Still made to pass.
Speaker 8 (35:30):
Yeah, well, laying on her back. Yeah, like, let me
rest here in a second. But in the meantime, here's
the puck and coming over to pick it up. Here's
enride whether it comes in over the line, enright plays
it back to the point on the far side. Badgers
look to hold the point. They lead it one to
nothing on a goal that it was that that was
a highlight.
Speaker 15 (35:49):
Real goal.
Speaker 8 (35:50):
You're not kidding around on the far side to play
by Eden Hustle passed to Gorbatanco and she fired it home.
Speaker 15 (35:58):
Whoa, there's a check McKenzie along. They could have caller.
Speaker 17 (36:02):
I think Jones is gonna get two minutes for a
body check.
Speaker 15 (36:05):
I want the board. We'll see McKenzie's heading to the box.
You're gonna do that.
Speaker 17 (36:09):
Gotta be a little more subtle about it, huh.
Speaker 8 (36:11):
Paul yep So, Saint Thomas will go on the power
play thirteen thirty four at.
Speaker 15 (36:18):
The time of the penalty.
Speaker 17 (36:20):
Yeah, for a body check.
Speaker 15 (36:24):
Badgers on the penalty kill.
Speaker 8 (36:25):
They've only allowed three power play goals to be scored
all year against them.
Speaker 15 (36:30):
Just pretty oppressive.
Speaker 8 (36:31):
Thirty eight opportunities and they've only allowed three goals.
Speaker 17 (36:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (36:37):
I was unable to catch the video this week of
Saint Thommys, so we'll see what their power play looks like.
Speaker 17 (36:42):
Guy.
Speaker 8 (36:43):
Well, they got their unit coming out the face off,
will come out to the right side of Ava McNaughton,
and they got Barts and Burger who are big and
winning the face offs, and Burger won that one around
on the far side down in the corner.
Speaker 15 (36:58):
Saint Thomas said it get up back door shot. Oh,
they had an open net and couldn't get at home
off the stick of houses. Murphy really hustled there to
meet some deed and there's.
Speaker 8 (37:07):
A drive in that one wider than that played around
the boards on the near side. One forty remaining in
the penalty time and they try to work it right
out in front. They move it between the slots. Shot
went wide. They're setting it up pretty well here.
Speaker 16 (37:22):
Yeah, there giving himself a chance for around on the
far side over to try and control it.
Speaker 8 (37:27):
Play comes back in over the Wisconsin line. They'll set
it up and work it around the board's back door
they got. They try to work the back door. It
looks like the house he was They opened a couple
of times on that backside for around on the far boards,
they look to set it up.
Speaker 15 (37:43):
Badgers in front of their own net. We'll clear it out.
Speaker 8 (37:47):
Then Badgers are going to change up the penalty killers
and coming into the zone on the one person for
check there take it away by percard, percard one against
four and yeah around over the heart Harvey. Harvey plays
it behind the app and Wisconsin on the fore check
trying to pick it up.
Speaker 15 (38:05):
Good job by per.
Speaker 17 (38:06):
Cards, you're not kidding.
Speaker 15 (38:08):
Just a fORCH on the far side, trying to control
the puck.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
Dan Saint Thomas works through center ice, boring with it
off on the play on the far side down to
thirty four seconds, remainting on the Tommy power play Wisconsin
with it. They turn and they'll drive it down the
ice and Saint Thomas will go back and behind his Gadzick.
You've got Julianne Gadzick along with Genessa, and they're both seniors.
Speaker 15 (38:37):
There must be twins.
Speaker 8 (38:39):
Huh yeah, I think round on the far side over
to try to set it up they're paired defensively together.
Speaker 17 (38:44):
Both from Somerset. Yeah, I think you're twins.
Speaker 15 (38:46):
They're round on the far side trying to control it
and it goes all the way back down in behind.
Four twenty five or minute.
Speaker 8 (38:54):
And the Badger's killed it off and it's over one
of the power play for the Tommies.
Speaker 15 (39:00):
One to nothing in the game. Badger's at full strength.
Speaker 8 (39:02):
Four fifteen remaining in the first period and coming back
into the line, Scandal will on the play.
Speaker 15 (39:09):
Here's Hall with it back to the point of the
Venusio and Venusio.
Speaker 8 (39:14):
They try to come on the wing on the near side,
Paul trying to chase it down in the corner. Scandal
comes out waiting at the wing. Was Venusio at the point,
went through her skates and Abe is going to cover
it up and stop the play. Three minutes and fifty
one seconds remaining in the first period. The goal of
the game eight forty nine of the period, scored by
(39:36):
Kelly Gorbtanko, her tenth goal of the year, the assist
going to Eden, her thirteenth of the year. Eni's had
two great seasons. The last two campaigns. She scored fifty
plus points in both of those years. She has eighteen
game winning goals in nineteen power plays in her career
at Wisconsin.
Speaker 17 (39:57):
She doesn't get out work. Yeah, she doesn't get out
work with it.
Speaker 8 (40:00):
Venusio will back handed down to the corner three thirty five,
remaining around on the far side, Burger with it will
turn and come out. Burger skates through center ice the
play ahead in of the Wisconsin line. The Tommy Saint
Thomas colleagues around on the far side. They work along
the back wall on the Badger zone. They work it out,
(40:21):
trying to get off the drive. Badger Scandal played it
to the wing. Wisconsin will turn and with it as
here comes Harvey. Harvey lifted the puck in the air,
picked it back up and almost got a breakaway to
the A and coming back in here Sims working between
the dots around on the far side over the laylay
(40:42):
Edwards around on the play over the Harvey.
Speaker 15 (40:45):
Harvey with it back over to Edwards, Edwards controlling it
pulls up on the play.
Speaker 8 (40:51):
Eating with a drive and that went wide of the naft.
Shappo tried to pick it up along the boards and
the play along on the far boards in the z own.
Speaker 15 (41:00):
Of Saint Thomas Collig Badgers try to pick it up.
Speaker 8 (41:03):
Harvey over work in the wall, Shapovolivovo and Harvey Harvey
moving in shot.
Speaker 23 (41:09):
Wow, Caroline Harvey gets her knife all of the air and.
Speaker 15 (41:19):
Nothing.
Speaker 17 (41:20):
Man.
Speaker 16 (41:20):
She just takes a feed from off the wall, carries
it to the top of the right circle, reads that goaltender,
freezes it and releases a hard wrist shot to beat
her high for our second goal tonight.
Speaker 17 (41:31):
Just a gorgeous shot by Carolyn Harvey.
Speaker 15 (41:34):
Man.
Speaker 17 (41:35):
She really reads the goaltender well, doesn't she, Paul, and
just fires it.
Speaker 8 (41:39):
She is, without question, Man, the premiere player in women's
college hockey.
Speaker 7 (41:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (41:46):
I think you wouldn't get an argument on anybody there.
Case closed, yeh Man.
Speaker 17 (41:52):
Fun to watch, yep, fun to watch her work her magic.
I'll tell you.
Speaker 15 (41:56):
Around on the far side over the try and control
it and pick it up.
Speaker 8 (41:59):
It's gonna played back down in the corner, going back
of it to set it up down back in behind.
Shots are eight to four, two to nothing. The badger's
out in front, played in behind the nap. Around on
the far side, Wisconsin working behind the nap of Saint
Thomas along the back wall. They try to work it loose.
There's four or five players there. Yeah, and they finally
(42:22):
blow the whistle and stop the play.
Speaker 16 (42:24):
Student body on the end wall there, we're gonna face
it off here to the left of Strom the goalie.
See if we can do something here in these last
two minutes, keep it rolling. See Cassie Hall's in the circle.
Speaker 17 (42:43):
She wins a.
Speaker 15 (42:44):
Draw just inside the line.
Speaker 8 (42:48):
One assist was given on the goal and that was
to Shapovolivova and back down in the corner trying to
pick it up here Scandal in front, trying to play
it around on the far side, and the puck goes
all the way back to the badger bullline over to
pick it up. McCarthy comes back into the line and
Picards got up between the dots, stick haunting with the puck,
(43:09):
tried to drive it toward the nat and could have
been played through the neutral ice.
Speaker 15 (43:14):
The Badger's back of it to try and pick it up.
Speaker 17 (43:16):
Great hustle on the backcheck here by McCarthy.
Speaker 8 (43:19):
And coming back down in the corner going over to
the stick handle with a puck is mom Mom around
on the far side. Pekin Hogin tried to take it
away from her on the fore check. Ava McNaughten went
into the glove and she stopped the action. Ava is
twelve and one on the year. Her goals against average
is one point three four. She's got five shutouts already.
(43:43):
She was involved with two other views where she didn't
finish because they decided to put in.
Speaker 15 (43:49):
Steward to get some playing time. Otherwise she potentially could
have seven shutouts.
Speaker 8 (43:54):
In the air around on the far side, one oh
five weremitting here in the period, Badgers intercepted a center
ice come in over the line, moving it in with
a backhand or cat. One minute remaining in the period,
two to nothing. Wisconsin around on the far side, Badgers
look to play it behind the net. Pekanagan along with
(44:16):
Potter out on the ice. Pekanogan and Potter coming over
to pick it up, play along the boards on the
near side with it Hall as a shot or Yeah
coming back on the wing trying to control it. Potter
with it back hands it around on the plate of Pekanagan,
who back hands it down in the corner. Thirty one
seconds remitting in the period. Wisconsin out with the lead.
Speaker 23 (44:37):
Shot the goal, Yeah gets the path.
Speaker 15 (44:42):
The fourth call of the year for hand right and
the Badger grain or nothing man.
Speaker 16 (44:50):
Just a great shot there. It happened quickly. I think
she got the pass from Hall from behind the net
there by the end wall. Nice goal by end right
right in the slot there, beautiful nice backbreaker time. How
only twenty sec seconds left and you put it in there,
and that's tough on the opponent.
Speaker 8 (45:07):
I like it, you know, Greeny and what has impressed
me here in this period so far? You talk about
hard work on all three goals.
Speaker 17 (45:17):
Good point, Paul, totally great.
Speaker 8 (45:20):
Yeah, a lot of hustle. There's another break coming in
over the line. They tried to slide it to pick
it up. There's a collision in front.
Speaker 15 (45:28):
Of the goal.
Speaker 17 (45:30):
But you're right.
Speaker 16 (45:31):
It's a common denominator in all three goals. Just flat
out working hard and good hustle by the Badgers.
Speaker 8 (45:37):
Harvey picks up an assist on the goal and so
does Cassie Hall. Wait.
Speaker 17 (45:45):
Good effort.
Speaker 8 (45:47):
Wow, the effort was just amazing. That hard work behind
the net out front, fat into the goal.
Speaker 15 (45:55):
I love it.
Speaker 8 (45:56):
And it's going to be played along the wall on
the near side over the try and pick it up.
Speaker 15 (46:01):
Badger's back in their own zone.
Speaker 8 (46:02):
Well, I would think Mark Johnson would say, well, we
were looking for him to be up on their toes
in the first period.
Speaker 15 (46:09):
And they were, and they were on their toes.

One Call That's All Injured, Remember one call That's All.
Speaker 6 (48:26):
And welcome to the intermission report here presented by Fields Madison,
your premier Luxury Auto Group serving customers since nineteen seventy one.
You're listening to Badger Women's hockey on ten seventy the
game Aiden Michaels here with you. The Badger's with a
three to nothing lead after one eleven shots on goal
for the Badgers just five for the Tommies.
Speaker 7 (48:43):
They had a power play as well.
Speaker 6 (48:44):
Their first three shots on that power play all went
wide of the goal, so they had some decent looks
but were not able to give Avian mcnontton anything to
worry about. To be fair, Abe mcnotton had a couple
of good saves to make, but the Tommies didn't really
have anything offensive going on in that first period. It
all started off with a turnover by a Wisconsin native,
Juliana Gasdik for Saint Thomas. I don't know if she
(49:05):
thought that there was a Tommy behind her, but she
just let the puck roll past her. It went all
the way down and then Eden picked it up behind
the net senator to Gorbatenko, who scored her tenth goal
of the season. She's now got twenty points ten to
ten to twenty for Kelly Gorbatenko. Now, Paul Brown was
joking before the game said, well, on that second line,
Eden Hall and Gorbatenko all have nineteen points. They each
(49:27):
have a point in the first period, so now they
are all at twenty points, so they're gonna continue that
competition going on into the second period. So Gorbatanko getting
that first goal getting the Badgers on the board. Then
the Badgers had some work to do. As I mentioned,
they had that penalty kill in the later stages of
the first period. It was Mackenzie Jones, who we know
is normally the extra skater now slotting in because of
an injury to Vivian Jungles last game. She takes an
(49:50):
elbowing penalty. Badgers ended up killing that penalty. As we know,
they kill penalties about nine times out of ten. More
than that, they have one of the best penalty kills
in the nation, the best in the WC. Then Caroline
Harvey scored a beauty get her ninth goal of the season.
She scored her seventh and eighth goal of the season
last series against Saint Cloud State in that first game
(50:10):
with the two the second and third.
Speaker 7 (50:12):
Goal of that game a couple of beauties.
Speaker 6 (50:14):
There scored another great looking goal again, Caroline Harvey She
is the human highlight reel. She gets things done offensively,
gets things done, gets things done defensively as well. It
was her twenty fifth point of the season, so she's
aclipsing about to.
Speaker 7 (50:28):
Eclipse double digits and goals.
Speaker 6 (50:29):
But she's got twenty five points on the season already,
which is just incredible. Then, with twenty six seconds left
in the period, Claire enright reintroduces herself to the first
line scores once again. Now she scored in the last
game against Saint Cloud State from that third line.
Speaker 7 (50:44):
We saw what she can do on that first line.
Speaker 6 (50:45):
Of course, when she moved up to the first line
for the first time of her career a few weeks ago,
ended up getting WHA Player of the Week. So some
incredible stuff from her again getting back into the first
line and scoring once more, adding that three goal lead
instead of a two. That is a difference going into
the second period. Getting one with twenty six seconds left,
that's a killer for Saint Thomas and that's pretty great
(51:06):
for Wisconsin. So getting that one with twenty six to
go in the first period, Badgers have the relatively comfortable lead.
Speaker 7 (51:13):
I guess you could say, I.
Speaker 6 (51:14):
Mean, anything can happen as what happened in Saint Cloud.
Badgers had a three to one lead ended I've given
up that lead and going to.
Speaker 7 (51:21):
Overtime winning in the shootout.
Speaker 6 (51:22):
But they have a decent lead going against the Tommies
here after the first period, and uh yeah, so it
was a pretty dominant period for Wisconsin. Nothing too unexpected.
I would say it wasn't terribly offensive for the Badgers
as maybe we expected, but five shots for the Tommies.
Speaker 7 (51:37):
I mean, the Badgers just absolutely locked down the Tommies.
They did their job.
Speaker 6 (51:41):
Now, Paul Brown had a chance to talk to Kelly
Gourbtenko earlier this week, so we're going to take a
listen to that. It's the Player Profile segment presented by
Goodman's Jewelers.
Speaker 8 (51:49):
Take a listen, Paul Brown, Kelly Gorbatenko. Kelly, this is
a crazy season for the Badger women's hockey team. You
and I were just chatting about it briefly. Kirsten was
talking about her experience of playing for two different coaches,
playing two different styles, trying to go to school, living
a normal life. All of those kinds of things for
(52:11):
you and the rest of your teammates give me kind
of a summary, What in the world's going on here?
Speaker 25 (52:16):
Yeah, we've had a lot of people in and out,
just like with the USA Hockey camps or the Olympics
coming up, people have been coming in and out. And
the first few weeks it was a little bit funky,
but now we're able to kind of get everybody back
in and we've had, you know, some injuries and some
people hurt, they've been out of the lineup, and now
everybody's kind of back in. But we're just kind of compartmentalizing.
It's like when we're all together, we're focused on, you know,
(52:37):
like what we can do, and we have a week
week to prepare for everything. But when you know people
have gone and give the opportunity for people to step
up into those roles and you know, have expanded minutes.
So I think we're getting better and better as with
it as the season goes along.
Speaker 8 (52:50):
And I'll tell you what, there's a lot of depth
on that team, which is a real plus in this situation,
isn't it?
Speaker 26 (52:55):
Oh for sure?
Speaker 25 (52:56):
I mean, like I see it every day in practice.
You know, it doesn't matter like who out on the ice,
Like everyone's competing and everybody's so talented that you know,
we even have it this weekend with you know, a
few goals from you know, some of our players and
that a lot of people were able to step into
those roles.
Speaker 26 (53:12):
So we we saw the depth this weekend.
Speaker 25 (53:14):
We know that there's so much more depth at more
depth scoring and as you know the season gets into
more playoffs and more where the points me and everything,
you know we're going to really need that.
Speaker 8 (53:25):
But yet there's a big adjustment as you mentioned for
the all of the teammates. You're everybody with an opportunity
to maybe pick it up, so to speak, and be
a part of it and that kind of thing. What's
your sense of overall what's going on?
Speaker 25 (53:38):
Yeah, I think it's like it's just kind of like
a mindset and you know, it comes right from the
top with you know, the veterans and you know from
our coaching staff, and they're so experienced, they're so wise
that they know how to coach us in that in
that aspect, and I really think that you know, we're
just like focused on like each day is a new day.
You know, you don't know who you're playing with, you
don't know who's going to be in the lineup out
of the lineup, who's out of town, So it's really
(54:00):
just you know who you're with, and we've practiced together
all the time.
Speaker 26 (54:02):
We know at this point how each other played.
Speaker 25 (54:04):
We've been practicing together since June, so we're you know,
it doesn't really matter who we're playing with. We're going
to figure it out and everybody's talented enough to be
able to make those adjustments on the fly.
Speaker 8 (54:15):
And injury wise, you mentioned it, Gosh, for a while
last year, it didn't seem like you guys had any
injuries this year though now it looks like pretty good
shape right now.
Speaker 25 (54:26):
Yeah, everybody. We had everybody back this weekend, which was great.
You know, it's nice to have everybody back, and it's
you know, we've had, you know, those moments where we
needed the depth and you know, this light like how
this time like compared to last year, like we had
we were able to roll everybody at all times, and
I think we're getting back to that now when we
have a full lineup and being able to roll everybody.
And I think that was the biggest strength of our
(54:48):
teams that we're able to roll solid, you know, four
lines through out the game and were other teams down
and you know, we have so much confidence in every
line that whoever's out there, we know that they're going
to get the job done. And I really think that's
a big strength of our team this year.
Speaker 8 (55:02):
Host Kelly grow Botanical analyzing how she's played.
Speaker 25 (55:06):
You know, I've been working in the off season a
lot of you know, focusing on my skating as always,
and you know, just kind of some the IQ part
of the games. You know, I have been happy with
how I've been playing so far, but I see a
lot of areas of improvement, and just being able to
take risks and not play scared and you know, not
fall into the old habits is something that I'm constantly
working on. So I'm really focusing on the mental side
(55:29):
of the game too, and as the season and the
body starts to wear down a little bit, being able
to just recover really well and you know, being able
to put my best foot forward on the weekends.
Speaker 8 (55:38):
I'm going to ask you where you've gotten better as
a player, and then I and I was thinking of
one particular area, but I'll let you answer.
Speaker 25 (55:45):
Yeah, I've definitely been working on my skating a ton,
so I feel like I've been able to stay on
my feet at you know, going back to my freshman year,
as I kind of got knocked over a lot, and
so I've been able to stay on my feet more
and now I'm just you know, trying to make plays
at like a higher speed. So I think I was
being able to read and react and now that I'm
familiar with the style of the game, the pace that
I'm able to you know, make plays like think about
(56:06):
the next play before it happens, versus you know, making
the play as the bucks on my stick.
Speaker 8 (56:10):
So hey, great minds think alike. The read to react
was part of it. Also, you seem much stronger and
very difficult to play against.
Speaker 26 (56:20):
Thank you.
Speaker 25 (56:20):
I appreciate it. Is that fair goal, I think, so yeah,
definitely been working on it. I mean I've been working
on my skating for as long as I can remember.
That's always something I'll always be working on. But that's
one of the aspects and pointing in the w c CHA.
It's so fast and it's so physical that you have
to be strong on my skates and I also have
to be able to move my feet quickly and so
to being able to keep up with you know, the
(56:41):
pace and the level of talent we have in our conference.
Speaker 26 (56:43):
You know we can in a week out, is you
know something I've been trying to work better.
Speaker 8 (56:47):
What do you see in this team?
Speaker 9 (56:48):
What do you like about this club?
Speaker 26 (56:50):
I like our grit.
Speaker 25 (56:51):
You know, we've had like games where we're down by
a goal, I mean and even like the same Cloud weekend.
Speaker 26 (56:56):
Like you know, we were up and then we were
down and up and down, and like we never waive.
Speaker 25 (57:00):
We always you know, maintain confidence and like even going
back to Duluth at the beginning of the year, we
were down by a goal and we scored two goals
in like twenty seconds or whatever it was, you know,
like it we just have so much confidence that we're
never worried and we never we don't ever hit the
panic button, which is great, and so I think that's
a really we're able to keep our composure and that's
a great quality of this team. And like we're just
(57:22):
so feisty and physical and just like want to win
so badly. I really really have a high hope for
this team.
Speaker 8 (57:28):
I know you would play with anybody, But what do
you like in your other two line mates?
Speaker 25 (57:32):
Yeah, I've you know, love playing with Cassie Maggie. I
think they both you know, I hopefully compliment them really well.
But they're both, like have such a unique skill set,
and I think that we're able to like really dominate people.
They're both so physical and so strong that we can
dominate teams down low, and I think we can generate
a lot of you know, pucks and collect a lot
(57:53):
of plucks out of the corner and generate some offense there.
But they're also so fricking fast that they can fly
down the ice and put the bucket in that that
way as well.
Speaker 8 (58:02):
Tell me about your two sisters, oh.
Speaker 25 (58:05):
Rachel, Nicole, I mean, it's a blessing to be able
to play with them, Like that's been our dream since
we were a little kids, to play on the same team.
And sometimes I've pinched myself when I see them in
the locker room. I'm like, man, like, we're really living
out our dream. But they're both talented hockey players. I'm
excited for them. They hopefully get their chance at that
point and hopefully we'll all play together.
Speaker 26 (58:25):
That'd be that's the dream.
Speaker 25 (58:27):
But you know, they're extremely hard workers and they both
have a little bit of a unique skill set, you know,
hopefully that they get to the showcase.
Speaker 8 (58:35):
You know from a play by play announcer's name. I've
thought about this. You got shabby, valuable, blah blah. Yeah,
and it could be Gorbatanko, Gorbatanko, and Gorbatanko. I don't
know how in the world you would do that.
Speaker 26 (58:46):
I don't know how you guys do. I'm excited to
see what you guys come up with.
Speaker 25 (58:49):
If you're just gonna go with the goorg Tanko, you're
gonna go with first names, I'm not sure how you.
Speaker 26 (58:52):
Guys are going to decipher between all three of us.
Speaker 8 (58:55):
I was going to let you guys decide that. Actually someday,
maybe the three of us will sit on and we'll go. Okay,
if all three of you are on the ice, Now,
how do I do this? Do I go with first name,
last name, or you got any ideas?
Speaker 26 (59:09):
I think if you go with Gorte go to goverting
that might be a tongue twister.
Speaker 25 (59:11):
So you might just have to go give a little
disclaimer at the beginning of the broadcast and be like,
I'm going by first names for the garvettecodes and then
go that way. So it's probably easier.
Speaker 8 (59:21):
Good luck, thank you.
Speaker 26 (59:22):
Yep, thank you, Paul. Appreciate it.

One Call That's All Injured, Remember One Call, That's All.
Speaker 8 (01:01:31):
And we're back at lebon Arena on the campus of
the University of Wisconsin and Madison, Mark Green Hall. I'm
Paul Brown, and after one period of play, the Wisconsin
Badgers are leading the Tommies of Saint Thomas College out
of the Twin City area by a score of three
to zhing the Shops are eleven to five. In the
(01:01:52):
first period. The Badger's doing well there in terms of
face offs, that tied up at eight apiece to Both
clubs had an opportunity on the power play, and the
Badgers have scored three goals. They did make one change.
They took away the assist from KK Harvey on the
third goal and they gave it to Charlotte Pekinhagen and
(01:02:17):
the other goals scoring. Of course, we had an right
along with Harvey and Gorbtenko. Badgers will be moving from
our left to our right in the second period and
with it, Leila Edwards plays it back in the blue
line and it carems in on the goaltender. That is
strum for Saint Thomas College. And what was the conversation
(01:02:40):
like down in the locker room there, Greeney.
Speaker 16 (01:02:42):
Well, make sure we get the puck through the weeds,
meaning when they got people set up in the neutral
zone there. Basically we get it to our offensive blue
line and you're getting pressure, dump it in deep, then
go and get it. But he had to be happy
with that he was, he was. It was very good
for period, very much so.
Speaker 8 (01:03:01):
And Wisconsin down to the corner on the near boards,
back in their own zone, trying to get it out
of the zone. But a shot went high and wide
of the goal. We're out of the far side. You've
got to be impressed with Saint Thomas.
Speaker 5 (01:03:13):
Yea.
Speaker 15 (01:03:14):
They are vastly improved from last year.
Speaker 17 (01:03:17):
Definitely, they're a good team and coming over trying to
pick it up.
Speaker 8 (01:03:20):
They're eight and eight on the year. They played a
tough game against Ohio State. Wisconsin and Ohio State are
tied for the top position in the league. Minnesota right
behind him. Badgers and the Buckeyes are going to play
the first week in December down in Columbus. That ought
to be a great series down there. And we have
(01:03:41):
a face off and play stop toward the neutral zone
with the second period just underwear.
Speaker 17 (01:03:50):
Yeah, we're going to have a game, no doubt.
Speaker 16 (01:03:54):
They're facing it off here to the right of Strum,
their goaltender in our offensive.
Speaker 8 (01:03:57):
End, gelligor Batanco's out with ass Hall and Lacey Eden
and the face off coming up and Wisconsin trying to
hold the zone, coming over to try to control it.
It's going to be played at center Ice, turned away
by Hall, comes all the way back down on the
zone of Wisconsin. Back goes Ma Venusio around on the
(01:04:21):
far side. Badgers turn and try to clear it out
of the zone. Eden tried to pick up the lead,
picking it up as Venusio back hands it one, arming
it down in the corner, back in behind the Saint
Thomas net.
Speaker 15 (01:04:34):
Around over to.
Speaker 8 (01:04:35):
Eden and eaton a little given go there, back out
on top. Venusio with it with a drive and it
was saved and cleared from in front.
Speaker 15 (01:04:43):
Of the goal.
Speaker 17 (01:04:44):
Yeah, a lot of traffic in front of that net.
Speaker 15 (01:04:46):
And Wisconsin eating with it.
Speaker 8 (01:04:48):
We'll play it back down the boards on the right side,
and it went high in the air and it rolls
back down of the Badgers zone of Banusio back to
cover four with the Badgers Wisconsin up ice.
Speaker 15 (01:05:00):
Coming up Ice is.
Speaker 8 (01:05:01):
Cassie Hall, all with eleven goals so far this year,
leading the club in that category. For out of the
far side, back out towards center Ice, Ava Murphy broke
that up. Ava's back in the lineup after an injury,
and Wisconsin coming in over the line. Here's Picard pulling
up card with it, slides it around over to Jones.
(01:05:21):
Jones with a drive that was blocked, and Saint Thomas
turns and tries to bring it out. Badger's scandal with
it in the neutral zone. The Badger's back in it down.
Speaker 17 (01:05:31):
Goes McCarthy.
Speaker 8 (01:05:33):
McCarthy yup, tripped up, but no call there. The official
took a look, but no whistle for out of the
far side. Badgers try to work it in the high slot.
Action is going to be stopped and we've got a
penalty coming up against Saint Thomas.
Speaker 15 (01:05:47):
Looked like a slashing call. Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:05:49):
I saw a stick go flying out of somebody's hand
and that was the result of the slash by one
of their players. I think it was sour that made
that slash.
Speaker 15 (01:05:58):
Two forty the time of the penalty.
Speaker 17 (01:06:02):
Yeah, so we'll go on to power play here, see
if we can convert on this one.
Speaker 15 (01:06:05):
Paul.
Speaker 8 (01:06:06):
As we mentioned a little bit earlier, KK Harvey is
number one in power play goals with four. Gussie Hall
has three, Sims and Chappie have two apiece and they're
out on the ice right now. Sims back out on
top over to try and control it. Sims with it
along the boards on the near side.
Speaker 15 (01:06:27):
Kirsten Sims so trust.
Speaker 8 (01:06:29):
Shuffles it back over to Chapel Vallavova around of the
far side, over to Edwards, back out comes around over
to Sims.
Speaker 15 (01:06:37):
Sims with it down in the corner. Shot by Eden
went wide of the goal. Nice pass from.
Speaker 17 (01:06:42):
Eden or and to Eden, set of Sims.
Speaker 8 (01:06:46):
Yep, and there is Eden moving it in back around
of the pass, controlling it and with it is Sims.
Speaker 15 (01:06:53):
Sims with it on her knees try to control the puck.
Speaker 8 (01:06:56):
The Badgers in the zone on the man advantage one
point fifteen remitting on the power play, and it comes
back over to Harvey.
Speaker 15 (01:07:04):
Harvey at the point.
Speaker 8 (01:07:06):
Harvey's got a gold tonight so far and the Badgers
look to set it up with it as Leyla Edwards
a little given goal at back out on top and
with it as Edwards she can pull the trigger if
she gets the opportunity. Harvey's got it just inside the
blue line, back of it to Layley Edwards. Edwards with
it was tied up and it's going to be cleared
(01:07:27):
by Saint Thomas.
Speaker 15 (01:07:28):
They come in over the.
Speaker 8 (01:07:29):
Wisconsin line and moving it in tried to lead the
pass through because that was intended there, but Wisconsin broke
that up. Back over the Layley Edwards lay a little
with it or around over to Kirsten Simms.
Speaker 15 (01:07:41):
Sims down to the corner.
Speaker 8 (01:07:42):
Back of it to laylay Edwards playing the point around
on the far side. They work at back door. Sims
tried to tip at Gorbatanco over trying to control it.
Gorbatanko back out on top over to Landy Potter on
the far side. Harvey back of the Sims in the
slot and it's going to be played all the way
back down to the Badger's own. Kirsten Simms will be
(01:08:04):
our guest between intermissions two and three. As we chatted
with her about the possibility of the Olympics and whistle
and play is going to be.
Speaker 17 (01:08:13):
Stopped well with only four seconds left on the power play.
Speaker 15 (01:08:17):
They're not going to get hurt. Interesting interview with Kirsten.
Speaker 8 (01:08:22):
We were talking about She's playing for two teams, two
different styles of coaches, getting ready, getting together with new teammates,
going to school, traveling emotionally, mentally and physically, trying to
control everything.
Speaker 17 (01:08:38):
Quite a schedule to try and handle all of you.
Speaker 15 (01:08:40):
One got some interesting things to say about it.
Speaker 8 (01:08:44):
And I asked her how she compartment compartment mentalized it would.
Speaker 15 (01:08:48):
She Yeah, she said, I broke it down.
Speaker 8 (01:08:51):
I have a left brain that's Wisconsin, and I have
a right brain and that's Olympics.
Speaker 15 (01:08:57):
Oh wow. And she said the day we did the interview, today,
I'm on the Badger brain.
Speaker 17 (01:09:01):
Okay, I hope, So, I hope she is. We we
got a game going on it. Hope she's on the Badger.
Speaker 15 (01:09:08):
One around on the far side, played in behind.
Speaker 17 (01:09:12):
She's a funny character.
Speaker 8 (01:09:13):
Oh and she's had a a year for hockey yep,
scoring the tying goal and the winning goal in overtime
last year for the national title. Now trying to make
the Olympic team and and win another title. Flight of
the Badgers.
Speaker 15 (01:09:26):
Yeah. Other than that, she's not doing much right When
when's she gonna get going? And whether it's Picard?
Speaker 8 (01:09:32):
Picard comes in over the line and Pericard with a
drive right on and stops the play. Well, the pace
is a little different, isn't it. It doesn't seem quite
as up tempo.
Speaker 16 (01:09:43):
No, not quite yet here right, I'm hoping we resumed
that quick step that we had in the first period.
Eliminated a little bit of stick handling, you know.
Speaker 8 (01:09:54):
Uh, move the puck in the face off circle. Ye,
along with Zilich and Elderson. Venusio with a drive at
the pomp got tipped through beneath the stick of pekan Hogen.
Speaker 17 (01:10:07):
Yeah, nice redirect man.
Speaker 21 (01:10:08):
Now the.
Speaker 8 (01:10:10):
Shots are fourteen to five in the game. Three to
nothing is the score, and we'll have the face off
coming up to the left side of Stroum, the goaltender,
and the Badgers try to hold it in the zone
in the slot. The Zilich was there along with Pekanagan
(01:10:30):
around along on the far boards, turning, trying to bring
it out on the brake. Out of ice is Rice.
Rice trying to lead it through. Badgers chase it back down,
Venusio back of it to pick it up, shoveled it
around to the brake on the board's near side. Badger's
trying to control it. Badger's at full strength. We've had
three penalties called in the game, two on Saint Thomas,
(01:10:51):
one on the Badgers, and we have an icing called
against the Cardinal and White.
Speaker 17 (01:10:58):
Yeah, they're gonna feace it off down here to the
right of Ava McNaughton. I believe.
Speaker 8 (01:11:05):
Ava in her career with the Wisconsin Badgers, sixty eight
five and three is a record and that one goes
high up into.
Speaker 15 (01:11:15):
The scoreboard area here at Lebon Arena.
Speaker 8 (01:11:19):
Nice facility, yes it is, and too bad there's not
about two thousand more seats.
Speaker 15 (01:11:26):
Oh, I only believe the Badgers could draw. I think
we call out five thousands. Yeah, I think they could
follow six thousand. Yeah, and on a regular basis. Yep.
Speaker 8 (01:11:34):
It's just an entertaining brand of hockey around on the
far side, over to try and pick it up. Fan
it's going to be played back of the net, comes
off the glass, back in behind, going over to try
and control it, and the Tommy's with a back ender
in front of the Badger net, cleared by Harvey looking
for help in the break and back to the point
(01:11:57):
of the past, comes to round and set it up.
The Badgers take it away. Here's Kirsten Simms trying to
lead it through to n right and write a lot
of hustle there, but it didn't quite work. She breaks
it back up in front of the Badger bench and
driven down into Wisconsin's own nice Nice to see everybody
back in the lineup well, happy back in the lineup.
(01:12:21):
Edwards is back in the lineup. We get another Penn
penalty coming up against Saint Thomas. Yeah, I might have
a trip here, yep, and that's gonna give them another
chance on.
Speaker 16 (01:12:34):
Yeah, I'd like to see us spread out, move that puck,
not stick handle so much on the power play, see
if we can get a goal out of the deal.
Speaker 8 (01:12:41):
Six point fifty into the period is the time and
Badgers will go on the power play and coming out
the probably the number one unit that's Kirsten Simms. Eden
is out, Harvey is out, Edwards is out and also
out on the ice.
Speaker 17 (01:13:01):
They got pekan of you can Hagen out there. Little.
I like that though.
Speaker 15 (01:13:07):
Freshman. Yeah, got good size. Yes, she's just strong.
Speaker 8 (01:13:11):
Over to Harvey. Back it comes to Edwards, back over
to Eden. They come on the wing on the near boards,
over the Sims. Sims controlling the puck down on the corner,
gets the return pass still on the right side. Sims
carries it low on the zone, tried to play it
to Eden, but it went off her skate. But Eden
holds the zone and gets help as Wisconsin holds the zone.
(01:13:33):
Good effort there, but coming out is Pekanagin. She'll have
to back it out over the center ice to regroup.
Harvey works the wing on the near side. It goes
to Kirsten Sim get over the line to Harvey. They
got pekan Hogen on the bar, wing back out on
top over to Edwards. Edwards with the puck plays it
around over on the wing over the Sims back over
(01:13:53):
to Edwards. Saint Thomas on the fore check keeping Wisconsin
away from in front of the nap and they'll turn
and they'll try to drive it out of.
Speaker 15 (01:14:02):
Their own zone along the near boards. Eaton tried to
hold it in.
Speaker 8 (01:14:06):
Badgers haven't got a good scoring chance, but they've kept
it in the zone and pikanog and tried to tip
it and put Away in the glove up strong.
Speaker 16 (01:14:15):
I like her right in front of the net like that.
She's creates a nice nut front fro the little havoc. Yeah, yeah,
she can mix it.
Speaker 15 (01:14:21):
Up and she can get big body out of the way.
I can't see. No, she can take a goalie's eyes
away pretty well.
Speaker 17 (01:14:27):
Got a nice frame on her.
Speaker 8 (01:14:28):
There she stratting in the period, held in by Cassie Hall.
There's Cassie with it. Take an aim and she fired
that one off the plexiglass got tipped off. His stick
comes back out on top over to Laney. Potter with
a drive that one almost got tipped in front of
the net. All holds it in back of it to Potter.
They work it back down in behind the net over
(01:14:50):
to pick it up. His scannal scan a little given
go in the pass over the hall. All comes back
of it to Potter. Shot it against the back wall
wide of the net and it's played by a cork Btenko.
She tried a backhand at centering pass. Bonusio breaks it up,
but she had a back out of the zone and
then play it back end. We're down now to the
(01:15:12):
Badgers are going to run out of time on the
power play. They've only got ten seconds from Minnigan on
the power play, moving it in back over to Venusio.
Took a drive and back at full strength is the
Tommy's of Saint Thomas College.
Speaker 16 (01:15:27):
One of the guys that Twins took that shot blocked
the one that Venusio let go. I wouldn't envy her
right now.
Speaker 17 (01:15:34):
I bet that hurt.
Speaker 15 (01:15:35):
That was a cannon, yeah, and it came out at
full steam. Oh boy, and there's a backer.
Speaker 8 (01:15:42):
Nice backhanded effort there by Lindsey, Sadie Lindsey with a
nice effort for Saint Thomas College.
Speaker 16 (01:15:49):
Yeah, she stripped Venusio the puck probably only six to
eight feet in front of the crease.
Speaker 17 (01:15:54):
Got a shot on that as a result. Don't want
to turn over the puck.
Speaker 8 (01:15:57):
There, coming up to the right side of Ava mcnont
back in the Badger's zone and going over trying to
control it Wisconsin. Aba Murphy works the wing on the
near side, back handing it out on the clear, coming
up ice and Picard trying to skate it down along
with McCarthy. McCarthy with a puck worked herself free, pulls
(01:16:19):
up in the corner on the far side, back out
on top. There's a drive hit the pike and there's
a backhander in front of the hat.
Speaker 15 (01:16:27):
McCarthy with a drive.
Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
I like it.
Speaker 15 (01:16:29):
Good pressure by McCarthy.
Speaker 8 (01:16:31):
Uh percard in on that effort along with Jones at
the point trying to hold it there.
Speaker 15 (01:16:36):
Halverson's out on the ice.
Speaker 8 (01:16:38):
Badgers played around to the far side and Saint Thomas
back will work it behind their own net, turning trying
to drive it out comes to Jones at center ice
for the Badgers, around over to Ava Murphy of Wisconsin,
who plays it down on the corner of the right side.
Speaker 15 (01:16:54):
We're halfway through this hockey game.
Speaker 8 (01:16:56):
Three nothing Wisconsin, the round on the far boards, puck
is loosen the neutral zone, trying to play it ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:17:02):
Aiden comes back in up of.
Speaker 23 (01:17:04):
The line, hits me up the west corner of the.
Speaker 15 (01:17:17):
Four to nothing.
Speaker 17 (01:17:18):
What a gorgeous goal.
Speaker 16 (01:17:19):
Lacey's a right hander and she takes the puck from
the top of the high slot to her right and
she kind of gets that goalie to move a little
bit and she fires across the grand goal in the
opposite corner over the goalies blocker side. Man gorgeous goal,
hard wrist shot by Lacey Eden.
Speaker 15 (01:17:41):
Beautiful man a ford to nothing laid for the Wisconsin Badger.
Speaker 17 (01:17:46):
Oh, nice shot.
Speaker 15 (01:17:47):
I think we're gonna have. They're gonna change the.
Speaker 17 (01:17:49):
Switching goalies, Paul, You're right, they're gonna they're bringing in.
Speaker 19 (01:17:54):
Uh.
Speaker 17 (01:17:54):
I don't know if it's am.
Speaker 15 (01:17:56):
I not Manhatti.
Speaker 16 (01:18:01):
Manati Manati is gonna play sounds like a pastas to me.
Speaker 17 (01:18:05):
I don't know. No, can't be.
Speaker 8 (01:18:08):
And the Badgers come back in ut of the line,
off of the wing on the right side. Well, let's
entertain her and then let's put a couple of shots
on her and see how she reacts.
Speaker 17 (01:18:18):
Let's wake see if she was napping on the bench
or if she's awake.
Speaker 8 (01:18:21):
There's aton the shot. I went into the glove of
minati Ac Eden gets the goal. Ava Murphy the assists
on that goal. All right, her fifth of the season
(01:18:44):
and four up on the boards for the Wisconsin We're

Ford to nothing. We're in the second period of play
here in the Badgers go back to set it up
in their own zone. KK Harvey with it and coming
(01:20:23):
up Ice controlling it, and Wisconsin will move it through
the neutral zone over the KK Harvey moving it in
and off in the pass to weed and try to return.
Speaker 15 (01:20:32):
It to Sims in front. Almost a little tic tac toes.
Speaker 8 (01:20:36):
Yeah, coming up Ice controlling it, coming back in over
the line around on the far side and going over
to try and set it up on the wing and
the play controlled and the.
Speaker 15 (01:20:49):
Badgers over to try and pick it up.
Speaker 8 (01:20:52):
And Wisconsin with a full strength situation here Saint Thomas
has taken three penalties. The Badgers have only had one
man over to set that up in control Wisconsin and
with it. Here comes Shappie in over the line and
Shappy carries it down in behind the net. Shappy with
it turn tried to move it towards the net, but
(01:21:13):
it was cleared. Pope checking it trying to hold it
in the zone was Shapovalovova, but the Tommies will bring
it back into the Wisconsin line in behind the net,
trying to pick it up. His potter around in the
play on the far boards were down to eight eleven
remaining in the period. Coming back over to try and
set it up. Saint Thomas off in the wing in
(01:21:35):
the corner on the far side. Badger's back in behind
the net and it's controlled. Bringing it up Ice is
Maggie Scannell on the lead. Here's Hall coming in over
the line. Haul with it pulls up in front. Tried
the nice pastest Scannal, but she couldn't get control of
it in front of the net as shot block.
Speaker 15 (01:21:55):
Cassie Hall Borba Tanko. Whoa. That line's had a lot
of affort. Yeah, they're creating opportunities and it's going to
be controlled. There's Kelly Gorbatanco right there banging around the goal.
She loves doing that and picking it up. His potter
bought her with it in front.
Speaker 8 (01:22:12):
Try to go to Goarbatanco and it's gonna be banged
along the boards on the near side, trying to control it.
Speaker 15 (01:22:20):
Nump back down in the corner of the Badger zone.
Speaker 8 (01:22:23):
Wisconsin with the four goal lead coming up ice controlling it.
There's Gorbatanco, one arm on the puck. Frried it in
over the line, but she got bumped along the sidewall
and Saint Thomas will try to clear it out of
their own zone. They play it in front of their
own bench bar boards and back handing it in and
(01:22:43):
going back over as Mackenzie Jones trying to work it
around the boards and Zadjivik trying to bring it out
for Saint Thomas. Aba Murphy with it behind the nat
Ava slides it around over the Mackenzie Jones near boards,
tipped out by Halverson the center ice play in the
neutral zone. Badgers look to pick it up back in
(01:23:04):
their own zone six thirty five remitting in the period
and Wisconsin will chase it down. McCarthy in behind the
goal of Saint Thomas, around over the card, per card,
controlling it in the circle, shot right on. McCarthy tried
to get the rebound but pushed it wide of the goal.
She was tied up and Saint Thomas with it, angles
(01:23:27):
it off the board's near side. Wisconsin at center ice
over to pick it up and control it. The Badgers
back in their own zone, work it up Ice. Here's
McCarthy in over the line, break into the nets Elverson
and the shot went wide and back in behind the
depth of Saint Thomas, trying to control it along the
(01:23:49):
back wall. Five point fifty reminning in the period. Badgers
look to set it up. Comes back out on top
lay over a rush shot that's fired right on, and
it's going to be Harvey holding the zone. Badgers with it.
They work it right out in front. It goes back
of it to Leila Edwards. Edwards fired it through traffic.
Badgers control it and they move it around and with it.
(01:24:12):
Helberson on the play over to Edwards with a drive
tipped in front of the goal off the stick of Picard.
Saint Thomas will clear and they play it back down
to the Badger's zone and icing will be called.
Speaker 17 (01:24:25):
The Well, some pretty good puck movement there in the
offensive zone. Nice to see. Keep testing that goaltender. You
got a piece of one with her glove there.
Speaker 8 (01:24:37):
Benatti is the one that Spreeny's talking about replacing strom
yep based off coming up back in the zone to
the left side of Mananti.
Speaker 15 (01:24:49):
And Pekanagan will.
Speaker 8 (01:24:50):
Try to win the draw for the Badger and the
w draw it does comes back of it to Edwards
working the wing on the near side. That's Enry round
over to Pekanagan and Pekanagan with a backhander.
Speaker 15 (01:25:04):
Came right out in front of the goal and it's
going to be backhanded out of the zone and the
lele Edwards will go back and we'll have another icing call.
Speaker 16 (01:25:14):
Hard to you know, wrap it on your backhand side.
But I do like pekan Hogen going to the nethart. Yeah,
she loves to do it too. Yeah it looks Yeah,
she likes playing that one. Yeah, that's a good play
and she that's her style.
Speaker 8 (01:25:27):
Five minutes remaining here, Badgers have commitments from seven new
players for next year that was announced this past week.
Speaker 15 (01:25:37):
Mark is pretty happy with it. He said, we've replaced
a lot.
Speaker 8 (01:25:40):
Of things, defense, goaltending, potentially scoring because of all the
people are going to.
Speaker 15 (01:25:47):
Lose next year.
Speaker 17 (01:25:48):
They got a few graduating, and.
Speaker 8 (01:25:50):
They got another one coming from Europe. It'll be the
second player from Europe. Oh, around on the far side, so.
Speaker 15 (01:25:56):
We got another one of those names coming Greenies for
you guys.
Speaker 17 (01:26:00):
I'll have to work on my phonics.
Speaker 8 (01:26:02):
Around on the far side, trying to come over and
pick it up and play along the boards, back down
in the corner, and right is out for the Badgers,
and Wisconsin with a four goal lead, and there's Pekanagin
with a drive and that right on yeah, and Manati
made the save.
Speaker 15 (01:26:19):
Around on the far side, played back down in the corner.
Speaker 8 (01:26:22):
Wisconsin's Harvey with it and they turned and try to
work it towards the net and it's going to be
picked up by end right on the far board, slides
it out of the brake, hit the stick of Zilich
who went under it, and the Tommy's will play it
back down on the corner aka Harvey around the boards.
Badgers in their own zone hop the wing on the
near side, but they flip it over the glass and
(01:26:44):
out of play.
Speaker 16 (01:26:45):
Yeah, Potter unintentionally chipped it out of the rinks. She's
just trying to get it up off the glass and
out of the zone. But we'll have a face off
on our own end here.
Speaker 8 (01:26:52):
The second period is brought to you by Fields Madison
Luxury Auto Group, serving customers since nineteen adro Women's hockey
on ten.
Speaker 15 (01:27:02):
To seventy of the game.
Speaker 8 (01:27:05):
Laid back to the point, coming over to try and
control it. There's a drive and it deflected in front
of the night of Wisconsin traffic and covering up is
Aba McNaughty.
Speaker 17 (01:27:16):
Good block and that shot out at the point by
end right. I think it was a teen went up there,
but she snuffed it out at the point.
Speaker 8 (01:27:26):
Face huf will come up now and Wisconsin with one
goal here in the second period. It was scored by
Eden on a blast and getting the goal for Wisconsin.
Eden was the eighth goal of the year and Wisconsin
back in behind, covering up in front of the head
(01:27:47):
trying to get a drive off.
Speaker 15 (01:27:49):
Eden was right here.
Speaker 17 (01:27:51):
I thought she's gonna stuff that one in.
Speaker 8 (01:27:52):
Paul, but she's got a lot of grit hustle. You're
not kidding, like's playing both ends of the rink. Her
feet never saw movement. Yeah yeah, Minatti covered that up
just before Eden could poke it in Annapplis, Maryland is
where Eden is from one of the assistant captains, along
(01:28:13):
with Gorbatanco and Picard. Harvey is the captain. Edwards is
an assistant captain for Wisconsin. Around on the far side,
played back in behind the net, down to three twenty six,
remitting in the second period. Badgers with a four goal
lead in twenty five to seven in shots.
Speaker 15 (01:28:33):
The lead there as well. They had almost sixty shots
up in Saint Cloud. That big ring makes a difference,
doesn't it.
Speaker 17 (01:28:39):
Yeah, there's a lot of space to cover.
Speaker 8 (01:28:41):
And it comes around and played back down in the corner,
back over to Laney Potter. Potter played it behind the net,
Sims comes over to try and pick it up. Sims
behind the goal stick handing with a puck around on
the far side. Kirsten with it wcha forward of the
Week last week, drops it back to the point on
the near side, comes around over to Potter. On the play,
(01:29:03):
Badgers look to set it up, trying to move it
to the slot and with it Banusio Banusio inside the blowline.
Speaker 15 (01:29:12):
Between the dots, fire shot the pipe and came out.
Speaker 7 (01:29:15):
Oh I thought that was in.
Speaker 8 (01:29:17):
Yep, Oh my goodness. Oh, and there's a drive man.
She would have already had her third goal of the air. Yes,
the drive she gets it back, fire it again?
Speaker 17 (01:29:26):
Yeah really yeah, No, kidd won't get back.
Speaker 15 (01:29:29):
Over to Vanusio Banusio with a shot. Oh, the acrobatic saves.
Speaker 17 (01:29:35):
She almost squeaked one in there from the point right
straight out high.
Speaker 23 (01:29:39):
Wow.
Speaker 15 (01:29:40):
She had four or five shots on that effort right there.
Speaker 23 (01:29:43):
I love it. I thought that one went in.
Speaker 16 (01:29:45):
I started looking for him to put it on the board,
and then I see play is still live. I'm like,
holy cow, how'd that stay out? You could hear the
ring of the bell off the pipe from up here.
Speaker 8 (01:29:56):
Two seventeen remaining and the face off coming up along
the boards on the far side. Saint Thomas with it,
trying to bring it out. Badgers look to hold it
in play in the neutral zone. It's going to be
dumped back down to the corner for around on the
far side play in front of the Badger bench. Dan
(01:30:19):
Cooked down there, assistant coach assistant head coach of the Badgers,
along with Jackie Crumb. Both of them have been here
a long time, along with Greenie. There's a lot of
consistency with Mark and the two other assistant coaches.
Speaker 15 (01:30:36):
You guys have been around a long time, Yeah, we have.
Speaker 16 (01:30:40):
I want to Yeah, this is my nineteenth year and
I think it's Jackie's seventeenth or eighteenth.
Speaker 15 (01:30:45):
And Dan he was here most of the time, went
away for a couple of years and then came back.
Speaker 16 (01:30:49):
Yeah, he was here before anybody, and then went to
Shaddock for two years and then.
Speaker 15 (01:30:54):
Came back around on the far side.
Speaker 8 (01:30:57):
Over to control it, and just in eye the blue line,
there's a drive and it's going to be blocked back
on it center ice with the one fourteen remedting in
the period and coming back into the line. Here's Gorbatenko
coming off the wing. She tried to put a move
on the defenseman.
Speaker 17 (01:31:16):
You know when they pressure, yet it's not a good
time to stick handle. You got to move the puck.
Speaker 8 (01:31:20):
And one minute remedting in the period coming over to
try and set it up. They go back door on
the path. Oh, over the shoulder of Ava, there's the
pressure moving it in shot block pressure by Saint Thomas
here laid in the period Ford and up in Wisconsin
and with it Leila Edwards over to turn and pick
it up and going to be played back out in
(01:31:42):
the neutral zone. Turned there, trying to control this play,
just along the boards on the near side, down and
back over to try and control it. Twenty eight seconds
remitting in the period and play is going to be stopped.
How would you analyze the second period?
Speaker 17 (01:31:57):
Well, it was a slower start. Yeah, we didn't have that.
Speaker 16 (01:32:01):
Neither team had that quick step like we did in
the first period. I wish we could have converted a
couple of power plays, but we're continuing to move the puck.
Speaker 17 (01:32:10):
So not a bad period.
Speaker 8 (01:32:12):
And they've called the time out, I be Nope, they're
just yea called a penalty two minutes. Yeah, coming up?
Speaker 17 (01:32:23):
Who we got? Who they sitting down?
Speaker 8 (01:32:25):
It's boring. Bourn goes into the box. Okay, So that
is their fifth penalty of the game and the Badgers
have only had one. So Wisconsin gets an opportunity here
on the power play.
Speaker 17 (01:32:39):
Yeah, once again, see if we can move, move it
and pop it in the net. Here, face off, you'll
come up. You know they're not a dirty team.
Speaker 15 (01:32:49):
No, I'm not by any means at all all. Yeah,
nothing has been.
Speaker 17 (01:32:53):
No, it's pretty questionable in terms of that very clean
contest we got.
Speaker 8 (01:32:58):
Laila Edwards is out, Eden is out, Harvey is out,
Sims is out, and shape Valabova is out.
Speaker 17 (01:33:08):
On the power play, yeah, we'll see if they can
convert here.
Speaker 8 (01:33:11):
With Eden trying to win to draw, she does to Sims,
back over to Harvey, Harvey around over laylay Edwards kept
it low and shot at around on the far side.
Sometimes you think they should shoot low more often. Yeah,
around on the far side and comes back over to
Laylea Edwards not being critical, just shot blocked right there
(01:33:32):
in front, back over to sim Sims with it down
in the corner, back over to Eden.
Speaker 15 (01:33:37):
The Badgers are going to carry over to the power play.
Speaker 8 (01:33:40):
At the end of the period, whistle and play is
going to be stopped and the Badgers will skate to
the locker room. With twenty eight shots on goal eight
for Saint Thomas, Wisconsin Leeds at Ford to nothing.
Speaker 15 (01:33:53):
We're back on ten seventy of the game.
Speaker 8 (01:33:56):
After this time out of Badger Hockey on ten seventy Wtso.

Speaker 5 (01:34:32):
This is ten seventy the game. This is ten seventy
the game, and.
Speaker 8 (01:34:43):
We're back here at Lebonareta, where after two periods of play,
the Wisconsin Badgers have a four to nothing laid. Then
the only goal in that period scored by Eaton per
eighth goal of the year, Heyden. I'll tell you what
a lot of hustle, a lot of great plays the
Badger goal scored absolutely.
Speaker 6 (01:35:02):
I mean, it was an incredible period and I will
say that Tommy's only had three shots on goal the
entire period. Defensively, the Badgers were incredible. But I'll tell
you what the goaltending changed too for Saint Thomas. Bringing
in Nora Hannon. She made some incredible stops. Arty has
more saves than Danny Strum. That's incredible stuff. Yeah, I
mean when they pulled her, I believe around halfway through
(01:35:24):
the second period.
Speaker 7 (01:35:26):
She's normally the third string. She's a freshman from a Dina.
Speaker 6 (01:35:29):
This is her third career game played in a college uniform,
playing for Saint Thomas, and she made some incredible stops.
Emma VENUSI almost had another goal, she hit the crossbar,
but I mean it could have been five, six, seven,
nothing right now, Wisconsin. But instead it's just four and yeah,
(01:35:49):
just incredible stuff. So far from Nora Han and the freshman,
she's been incredible. But the Badgers decided to go back
to their normal lines. Now it's clear En right that
moved up to the first line after the last few
games on the third line ended up getting a goal
in the first period. But then we started to see
that line with Kirsten Simms, Lacey Eden, Hadela chapavali Vova
(01:36:10):
back together again. And then Maggie scannal was on the
third line with Picard and McCarthy moved back up to
that second line in place of Eden to be back
with Cassie Hall and Kelly Gorbtenko, and then we saw
that fourth line getting a lot of minutes. Now we
don't normally see that fourth line get too many minutes.
They probably get around, I don't know, four or five
shifts a game, I would say, and they already have
(01:36:32):
that right now through two periods, Mikayla Zillish and pekin
Hogen and Halfer's and all three of them actually combined
on the tying goal last weekend against Saint Cloud on
that fourth line when they were down early, and they ended.
Speaker 7 (01:36:45):
Up getting a lot more shifts after that.
Speaker 6 (01:36:46):
And then obviously we're seeing it in today's game or
tonight's game as well, that fourth line getting some more minutes.
Speaker 7 (01:36:51):
Mikayla Zillish doing really well.
Speaker 6 (01:36:53):
Pequin Hogen obviously with her big body, the presence out
there physically has been incredible, and it's been all four
lines have been doing their job, and they've been mixing
and matching those bottom two lines. Halverson's been seeing some
third line minutes up there with McCard, who got very
close a couple times for her first goal of the season.
She's on there with Finley McCarthy, who as well is
(01:37:14):
looking for her first goal of the season. They have
a handful of assists each of them, but have not
been able to find the back of the net just yet.
A couple of penalties too. The Badgers were back on
the power play a couple times. Riley Barts went off
for a penalty. It was Nora Sara that went offer
a penalty as well, her second of the game. And
(01:37:35):
obviously you don't want to be taking penalties against this
Badger team, especially at home. Their numbers are incredible, upwards
of ninety percent on the power play, some of the
best or not on the power that the penalty goal.
Thirty percent on the power play, which is incredible numbers.
It's funny because it's not as good as it was
last year, which it was around thirty five percent. So
it's funny that you can look at a power play
(01:37:56):
that's thirty percent and say it's not exactly what we're
looking for. Is absolutely incredible. Badgers get the late power
play at the end of the period and it's going
to carry over into the second or into the third period.
Speaker 7 (01:38:08):
The Badgers who got the late goal.
Speaker 6 (01:38:10):
With twenty six seconds to go in the first period
thanks to Claire en Right, we're not able to capitalize
late on the power play heading into the third period.
But they're gonna have that player advantage to start things off,
which will be good for them.
Speaker 7 (01:38:22):
And the Tommies are looking for life.
Speaker 6 (01:38:25):
Like I said, three shots on the period in the
period in the second period, just five in the first period.
Eight in total, the Badgers have twenty eight, so they're
out shooting them twenty eighth day. It is not what
you want to see if if you're the Tommies. And
I'm looking at the scoreboard now and Shapovalivova looks like
she was given a penalty after.
Speaker 7 (01:38:46):
After the whistle went in.
Speaker 6 (01:38:47):
I saw that she after the buzzer had gone, she
took a shot at ned and I don't know that
they given perhaps an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to Shapovalivova, So apologies,
I misspoke. It will be four on for hockey for
about thirty seconds or so heading into the third period,
and then the power play will go for the Tommies,
(01:39:08):
so they will have a chance to perhaps break the
shutout for Avian McNaught.
Speaker 7 (01:39:12):
And I accidentally said the S word.
Speaker 6 (01:39:13):
I mean, I know that's the number one rule for
announcers is you're not supposed to jinx it by talking
about a shutout, you know, in the third period.
Speaker 7 (01:39:21):
But so far, so good for Avan mcnotton.
Speaker 6 (01:39:23):
She hasn't had much to do, as I said, as
only eight shots, only eight saves she's had to make.
Speaker 7 (01:39:29):
So it's a big third period coming up.
Speaker 6 (01:39:30):
The game's far from over, but the Badgers as of
right now have a pretty comfortable lead.
Speaker 7 (01:39:35):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:39:35):
Paul Brown had a chance to talk to Kirsten Simms
earlier this week, so we're going to take a listen
to that. It's back to the player profile segment, brought
to you by Goodman's Jewelers.
Speaker 8 (01:39:44):
Have a listen acturing intermission. Paul Brown with Kirsten Sims. Kristen,
I want to talk about the venture you're going through
this year, the journey so to speak. It's got to
be a wonderful experience. But I look at travel, I
look at school, I look at living regular life, I
look at trying to make two teams. What in the
(01:40:06):
world is all of dislike for you?
Speaker 19 (01:40:08):
I mean, yeah, it's definitely been a overall wind of
a year to say say the least, But like at
the end of the day, I mean I get to
do what I love, which is playing hockey, and I
get to do a lot of it this year, which
is definitely fun. But I mean there is a lot
of stress within it with having to balance school and
balancing two different teams basically and two different like we
were talking earlier, coaching styles and two different places and
just that back and forth. It definitely takes time to
(01:40:29):
get used to. But it's almost like I've had to
put my brain and like I've had to separate my
brain into like two halfs. Like it's like I'm my
Whisko brain and then I'm a USA brain, And I
shut one off when I'm back at Whisko, and I
shut the other one off when I'm at USA. It's like,
I mean, aside from the whole school aspect, you got
to do that like year round and kind of stay
on top of that even when they're not in classes.
But from a hockey standpoint, it's being able to turn
(01:40:49):
one on when you're at one thing and turn the
other one on when you're at the other.
Speaker 8 (01:40:53):
What's the what's if anything is surprised you? And what
do you think from the point of view of say
from myself looking at the opportunity, what don't I understand
about what's really going on.
Speaker 19 (01:41:05):
I just think it's the amount that we have to
do in the timeframe that we have, and that you
have to put your focus into Wisconsin hockey when you're
at Wisconsin and then you literally have a day in
between going from Wisconsin Hockey to USA Hockey to kind
of switch your mind and get your mind right heading
into something literally completely different than college hockey. Like it's
a completely different realm with different coaching style, different systems,
(01:41:28):
different just like all the above, Like all of it's different,
different players, like everything. You literally have twenty four hours
in between each thing that we're doing to kind of
shift your mind and get your mind right heading into
what you're doing, or you have twenty four hours to
get back here and get ready for practicing class on Monday.
Speaker 8 (01:41:42):
You know, I would think a lot of people would
realize it. But when you think about it, for an example,
what's the difference in coaching style between Mark and the
Olympic coach.
Speaker 19 (01:41:49):
Yeah, I mean I would say from the standpoint of
there's a lot of differences, Like I mean, you go
with coach and he's has such a creative style and
he has players that are so talented, and he lets
us play free and confident, and not a lot of
coaches have that specialness to them where he has that
trust in our players, where it's like he knows what
we do on the ice, and we do it best.
And he gives us some systems and some realms to
(01:42:12):
play within, because it's obviously good to have a little
bit of structure. But at the end of the day,
he knows where our team's at the best when we're
getting creative in the offensive zone and creating plays and
getting pucks on that and doing the things that he
recruited each player here for. And then you go to
the national team and it's a lot more things are
broken down, and it's very broken down to what you're
watching against certain teams, you're playing against certain things. There's
different systems in each song. Like it's just very different,
(01:42:33):
like from a system's realms. Like it's like you have
certain systems here in Wisconsin, and then you have certain
systems when you go there. It's just kind of different
in those two areas. And I mean, you're obviously gaining
different things at both levels of stuff. And I think
another thing too I talk about as well is like here,
it's like you go from being a veteran player and
a senior to go to the national team, and I'm
now the youngest by like fifteen years compared to some
(01:42:55):
of the girls, So it's like that's also a different
realm as well.
Speaker 8 (01:42:58):
How about the chemistry and the camaraderie and that type
of thing that you have to build with new players
so to speak.
Speaker 19 (01:43:05):
Yeah, I mean it's obviously different because here we're obviously
year round with the girls, and you kind of get
to know each other throughout the summer as well and
kind of get comfortable with the freshman and then obviously
I've been playing with my class since my freshman year,
and then you go there and you see each other
two three times a year maybe leading up to this,
especially with it being a different process this year heading
into the Olympics, with the girls staying in college rather
(01:43:25):
than doing what they used to do, which you were
with the team for like six months prior or whatever.
So it's definitely different, but within the time frames that
they've given us, I mean, it's pretty like all the
players that are so talented that it's like you can
build chemistry pretty naturally up there. But it is definitely different,
having to go back and forth from different players and
playing styles. I'm playing here to the playing style and
(01:43:45):
the player, you have to be there as well.
Speaker 8 (01:43:47):
I was chatting with Ava about a friend that everybody
has up in Minnesota, and she said, she's a pretty
wonderful gal. She's a good teammate as well as a
great player. What is Abby like?
Speaker 26 (01:44:00):
Yeah, I know, she's awesome.
Speaker 19 (01:44:01):
I mean it's funny because obviously we play against her
and it's one thing, and everybody has their feelings towards
it when we're playing against them. But at the end
of the day, I mean, she's just an incredible player
on the ice and that's going to be frustrating to
play against no matter what. But then you get to
play with he around the national team and it's incredible
to be around her. I mean, she's such a light
in the locker room, such always got a small on
her face. She loves hockey, she loves the game. I mean,
(01:44:21):
she's fun to be around, fun to learn from. Like
I said, she's such a talented player. But obviously when
we get into the Badger versus the Gophers, it's a
different it's a different meaning for that but I mean
from an overall standpoint of just being around her as
a person, she's actually unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (01:44:35):
And I'll tell you another aspect of this that it'll
be interesting for all of us that are following Wisconsin
is potentially the number of players that may make this team.
It could be four or five, up to maybe six
or seven.
Speaker 19 (01:44:51):
Yeah, I mean, obviously that is just a testament to
the program we have here and the players that we've
had throughout the years here. I mean that it is incredible.
But at the end of the day too, even if
however many of us end up making it, the players
that we have here right now and the depth that
we have on this roster, like, none of us are
worried because of how good our team is and how
deep our team is. I mean, it shows every weekend
(01:45:12):
that we got players on the fourth line to first line,
fourth deepair to first d pair putting up points day
in and day out against whether it's the Gophers or
whether it's another team, Like, it doesn't matter who it is, Like,
we have depth throughout our rosters. So it's going to
be pretty cool to see a lot of these girls
step up depending on what happens in the next couple
of months.
Speaker 8 (01:45:29):
You're kind of living in a wonderful dream world. You're
playing potentially on a team hopefully that could win a
gold medal and then come back and win another national
championship for the Badgers, and culminating with you scoring the
two goals last year to win the national title. A
lot you ever want to pinch yourself and think, is
this real? Is all this stuff happening?
Speaker 19 (01:45:51):
I know, I mean after last year, I mean I
think I was in that moment we're trying to pinch
myself if it was real for a while after that happened.
But I mean, I'm some where. It's like I'm being
where my feet are and kind of in the presence.
So it's like I'm some that tries not to look
too far ahead right now into the future, Like, yeah,
it's very exciting, but it's also like my focus is
on Saint Thomas Thursday night. I mean, that's like the
(01:46:12):
biggest thing on my mind right now, and then it's
whatever we have to take care of next week, And
obviously those linger in the back of your head and
they're going to be there because obviously there's a roster
to make. And then there's an incredible goal at the
end of the site for our team this year to
potentially do something special with the back to back years.
So I mean, obviously that is sitting in my head,
but at the current moment, I try not to think
about it too much and I try to put my
folks into practice today and then Saint Thomas.
Speaker 8 (01:46:34):
Thursday, one final one that I'm gonna let you go
and thank you for the time. By the way, what
was it like after scoring the winning goal in the championship?
Just curiosity the reaction that I'm sure you still get
to this day, right.
Speaker 19 (01:46:47):
Yeah, I mean it was unbelievable. I was in a
state of shock after that one. Like I would tell
people that after the penalty shot, I kind of felt
like real life and kind of felt like cause I
actually had a kind of soak in the moment a
little bit more. But then putting in the overtime, I
mean that could have done anybody at that point, So
it was like, what happened to just be on my stick?
I honestly blacked out right after and had no NOI
And then all of a sudden, the girls were throwing
(01:47:08):
their sticks and gloves and top one all over me
and then it was the greatest like next couple months
of my life, quite honestly, And I mean I think
it was just testament to our group and all though
our group was as a whole.
Speaker 8 (01:47:18):
Hockey's been good to cursing zooms, hasn't it.
Speaker 26 (01:47:20):
Yeah, it's been great. It's been awesome.
Speaker 8 (01:47:23):

Speaker 8 (01:49:30):
And We're back at Lebon Arena along with Mark Greena
all I, Paul Brown. We're after two periods of play.
Wisconsin Badgers are leading the Tommies of St. Thomas College
by a score of ford or nothing. And a pretty
nice performance as a part of the Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 16 (01:49:47):
Yeah, it's been a good two periods for our team.
I believe we've got kind of an odd thing that
occurred at the end of the period, or we were.
Speaker 15 (01:49:55):
That shappy must have shot the puck in the nest.
Speaker 16 (01:49:58):
Yeah, she got a unsports like conduct. I sorry, I
actually watched her do it. That puck was about five
feet in front of the goalie on the ice, and
she slowly slid it toward the goal as the buzzer
went off and or or just after it went off,
And as a result, they gave her a penalty and
we're going to play four and four for a minute
thirty three here in the.
Speaker 8 (01:50:19):
National Hockey League over the weekend, somebody did that and
they had an.
Speaker 15 (01:50:23):
Entire both teams. Really Oh yeah, a brawler, huh yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:50:26):
Shot after the game, oh boy, and coming over to
pick it up, Harvey with it around the far side
over to Kirsten Sims. Sims moving it back on the
play comes back of it a Laila shot right on
and the save is made and Norah Hannan is the
one that made the save.
Speaker 17 (01:50:45):
Oh they went in replaced another goal.
Speaker 8 (01:50:48):
No, she was in.
Speaker 15 (01:50:49):
We just just being honest, gotcha based off coming up.
Speaker 8 (01:50:56):
And to the right side of Hannah back down the corner,
around of the far side over to try and control it.
On the break, Saint Thomas comes back out of their
own zone one thirty remitting on the penalty time there
Kirsten Simms tied up and Saint Thomas back of it
to pick it up. Comes around of the play back
of it to Maxwell. Play comes through center I, center
(01:51:18):
of the line, moving it in shot block Wow by
Ava mcnonton. They had a two on no break, big save,
A huge save there. Man, She's only had to make
nine in the game, and that's kind of tough when
you're not making a lot of saves. But that one
they had two players moving in. Nobody back defensively for
(01:51:40):
the badger. Wow comes around to the far side back
of it to pick it up. Cassie Hall around the
boards on the play, comes back of it to the
point of the venusio that's tipped around to the far
side over the Kirsten Simms back on the wing.
Speaker 15 (01:51:55):
Badgers try to set it up.
Speaker 8 (01:51:56):
We're four on four plus goaltenders, and it's going to
be picked up in control, driven back down to the corner,
picked up by Potter.
Speaker 23 (01:52:04):
Shot a man from a mane and.
Speaker 8 (01:52:16):
Potter gets her fifth goal of the year. Wow, five
nothing Wisconsin.
Speaker 16 (01:52:21):
She just skated that puck down on what would be
kind of like the left wing when she picked it
up right almost above, just above the goal line and
let it go and beat the goalie on the short
side somehow. Holy cow, I don't know how she squeezed
that in there. Yeah, she she shot it from all
a man.
Speaker 15 (01:52:41):
Lannie was on the line for an injury and she
comes back and uh, I like tributes, you bet man.
Speaker 8 (01:52:48):
So you've had five different players score goals for the
Badgers here in this game.
Speaker 15 (01:52:55):
Venusio got one of sis. That's this point.
Speaker 8 (01:53:00):
That's all they've got listed is Venusia on the assist.
So the Badgers move it up ice and can try
and control it back down on the corner. It goes
in behind the net, are out of the far side,
and in four seconds coming out.
Speaker 15 (01:53:14):
Of the box is going to be shappy.
Speaker 8 (01:53:17):
So Shappie's out on the ice and the Badgers control
it and thirty one to nine in shots back going
over trying to control it.
Speaker 15 (01:53:27):
Both teams are back at full strength.
Speaker 8 (01:53:29):
Here out on the ice, Wisconsin trying to hold it
in the zone of Saint Thomas.
Speaker 15 (01:53:35):
Shappie comes over to try.
Speaker 7 (01:53:36):
And pick it up.
Speaker 15 (01:53:37):
The Badgers do. Here he's eating, sliding down, trying to
keep it in the zone, giving it everything like she
always does.
Speaker 8 (01:53:46):
Badgers go back over to pick it up. Coming up
ice Wisconsin, coming through the neutral zone. Aba Murphy comes
in over the line with it, moving it in shot
and it steered away from in front of the net
by Hannah and along the boards Wisconsin.
Speaker 15 (01:54:01):
And shot it.
Speaker 8 (01:54:02):
Oh per Card had a good opportunity. I drove it
a lot of the goal right in the slot. And
here's moving it in scanning with a shot. Pressure by
the Badgers.
Speaker 15 (01:54:14):
Dan, it's going.
Speaker 8 (01:54:15):
Come on, you guys helped me out here a little bit.
Badgers move in front of the net. They control the
buck along the boards on the near side. I'll tell
you what. They haven't taken the pedal off the.
Speaker 15 (01:54:26):
Metal here there nose.
Speaker 8 (01:54:27):
Haven't la coming back and back of it has set
it up. Covering up is able to make the say.
Speaker 16 (01:54:34):
And I think one of the things that keeps our
players motivated is you got you got so many and
then when they get in, I think they realize, I
don't know what I'm getting in again, I'm gonna make
this shift.
Speaker 23 (01:54:45):
Cout, you know.
Speaker 15 (01:54:45):
An they give well, they got everybody back coming off
the entries. They got the potential Olympians back. This is
the period of time.
Speaker 8 (01:54:54):
All season when they're going to have them together the
longest period of time.
Speaker 15 (01:54:59):
And Mark was looking forward to that, yep.
Speaker 8 (01:55:02):
But he said, uh, we'll take it and prepare as
what we have. Yeah, what are you a different year
for players and coaches and everything.
Speaker 17 (01:55:09):
It really is, I can you can sense it, you know.
It's it's just hard to have continuity.
Speaker 8 (01:55:14):
And coming over trying to control it, back over to Halverson.
Halverson over the puck. We're out of the far side,
Wisconsin in the zone. Zilli Twyther backing over to Peganagan
Pekan Hagen plays it deepen behind the net. Halverson over
trying to control it, play along the boards over to
try and pick it up. We're down to sixteen oh
(01:55:36):
five Remintican the third period Badgers Harvey who fired that one?
Speaker 17 (01:55:42):
She let both barrels there.
Speaker 8 (01:55:44):
Yeah, that was a double cannon shall my goodness, and
it went just high and wide of the doll.
Speaker 17 (01:55:50):
Get all that one coming.
Speaker 15 (01:55:52):
Up ice controlled again.
Speaker 8 (01:55:54):
Uh, she was a plus seventy five or so in
terms of goals against versus when she's out in the
ice when goals allowed. Now she's scoring more points. Yeah,
and playing great defense. Other than that, Hicky's having, you know,
just an average average.
Speaker 17 (01:56:13):
Yeah, she's a talented lady, I tell you.
Speaker 8 (01:56:15):
Coming up ice control to get in the neutral zone,
Badger's laylay Edwards comes in over the line, Layla around
and she works off the wing, tries to go out
in the slot and get the dry but it's cleared
from her stick, boring with it born against Layla Edwards
one against two and over the Wisconsin line, Boring back
out on top on the pass. It comes to mom
(01:56:38):
and there's a shot. Ava McNaughton with the save.
Speaker 17 (01:56:43):
You seeing the puck, doesn't They shot? Good gloves saved thirty.
Speaker 8 (01:56:46):
Three to eleven in shots, Badgers averaging nearly forty shots
a game.
Speaker 17 (01:56:54):
Well, we're on piece for that or better today.
Speaker 8 (01:56:56):
Huh yeah, another nice out on hand. Game two tomorrow,
same time.
Speaker 15 (01:57:02):
I didn't know what to expect crowd wise, you know,
being a Thursday night.
Speaker 8 (01:57:06):
But yeah, Game two seven o'clock tomorrow night, right here
on ten seventy of the game coming up, Ice trying
to control it, play in the neutral zone. Badger men's
hockey team will be at Michigan State this weekend.
Speaker 15 (01:57:21):
They're number one in the country. I guess yeah, so
Mike Hastings in the group.
Speaker 8 (01:57:28):
They'll go over there and battle them, play along, and
there's a shot and then on Ava and then driven
back inside out to the blue line, comes around on
the far side, Wisconsin turning trying to control it. Fourteen
twenty eight, reminting in the third period, Badgers pull up
and Cassie Hall drives it around the boards. Botter down
on the corner of on the near side, trying to
(01:57:49):
work it and it's going to be played out back
along the near.
Speaker 15 (01:57:53):
Boards Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 8 (01:57:55):
Wisconsin in control with it as Cassie Hall slides it
around the Badgers, Scannal carries it in over the line.
Scannal works away from the play around on the far
side McCarthy and Scannal try to work the corner down
on the bar board coming over to help out his
hall and Saint Thomas turns and they'll play it around
(01:58:16):
to the wing on the pass and they get it
and moving it up Ice bick and lost control of
the buck down deepen the zone in the corner. Badgers
go back to pick it up and control and they'll
move it out of their own zone on the play
and Saint Thomas took it away.
Speaker 15 (01:58:31):
Badgers try to control. They'll clear it out and to
move it it up. Ice coming in over the line
in a hurry.
Speaker 8 (01:58:38):
Put card on the brake, oh shot wide. Bickett there
one of two trying to get that loose buck over
to McCarthy. McCarthy back over Ava Murphy drove an eye
and want home back to the point. Badger's holding the
zone around over the scandal behind the net to do it.
Per Car out in front trying to chase it down.
(01:58:58):
Wisconsin on control on the wing near board over to
set it up. Here's Picard right side shot block hole
and Saint Thomas picks it up. They bring it through
neutral life and control it in over the line. Was
Sajevik and Sadjevic played it off on the wing. Saint
Thomas will set it up just inside the line. It's
(01:59:20):
control down in the corner. Shot came right out in front.
They're working hard, even though they're down five nothing in
the game and trying to chase it down, getting their
halbers and trying to get there first and whistle and
play is going to be stopped.
Speaker 15 (01:59:37):
A lot of hustle there on the Helberson. Yes, it was.
Speaker 8 (01:59:43):
Twelve thirty eight remaining in the third period. Five different
players had scored for the Badgers. Gorbatanko Kent kick a
harvey Or ninth and ride her fourth, eating her eighth,
and Potter her fifth. On the board here tonight back
over it has set it up in control. Coming up
Ice on the brake.
Speaker 15 (02:00:04):
Badgers come through neutral McCarthy with it.
Speaker 8 (02:00:07):
McCarthy on the drop pass and that's turned away by
Saint Thomas. They carry it to the Badger line, work
it down in the corner, Layla Edwards back of it
to try and control around on the break far boards.
Coming up Ice, Badgers try to hold the zone of
Saint Thomas, but the Tommy's clear. They come in over
the Wisconsin line. That shot driven wide of the goal
(02:00:31):
around the fort side. Sower had fired that one and
Wisconsin they lost control of the puck and with it
a sour Sower plays.
Speaker 15 (02:00:40):
It down on the corner on the right side. Layley
edwards back of it to control lay the four goals
on the earth and she broke it up. But we yep,
tripping against Kak.
Speaker 8 (02:00:52):
Harvey goes down and Saint Thomas will go to the
box again, so the Badgers will go in the power
play again. Yeah, and we'll have that power play opportunity
coming up here.
Speaker 16 (02:01:04):
Tripping on Horton, I believe another power play, Paul. Let's
see what we can do here.
Speaker 15 (02:01:15):
Badger's on the power play. They're zerover five so far
on the power play and.
Speaker 8 (02:01:23):
Back of it has set it up and control and
Wisconsin has Edwards out. They have Shapov Boba out and
Harvey is out. She tried to chase it down along
the back wall. Laylah lagging back at center ice, controls
the puck and the Tommy's dumped it out of their
own zone. Wisconsin's turns. They give and go from Sims
(02:01:44):
to Harvey. Harvey comes in over the line on the
left wing with a drive held in it. Whoop at
the point Leilah held it in. Nicely done there, back
over to Sims, pulls up on the paths over the
Harvey slides it around over to Edwards. Edward's down in
the corner on the path. They got Eden in front
of the NLF. They turned it around to the play
over the Sims fired it across ice over the Layla
(02:02:06):
comes back up to Harvey.
Speaker 17 (02:02:08):
Harvey shot man.
Speaker 15 (02:02:14):
It gets her second goal. Then Store on the power play.
Speaker 16 (02:02:19):
They're seventeenth of the air man, you know, when Harvey
shoots the puckets like the puckhead eyes. But Eden helped
it along there on the redirect, tipped it in for
a goal right in front of the crease there.
Speaker 8 (02:02:33):
Nine three into the period, the Badgers take the lead
at six to nothing with their sixth goal.
Speaker 15 (02:02:41):
I mean, wow, that was a nice goal here, That
sure was.
Speaker 17 (02:02:46):
Yeah, Harvey knows right when to release the shot, you know,
and Eden was there tipped.
Speaker 15 (02:02:50):
It in and Harvey with two assists tonight, man, let's
see if they gave executed like that. It's just a
thing of beauty.
Speaker 8 (02:03:04):
To watch Harvey and Leley Edwards going okay too and
coming up Ice controlling it. The Badgers with that six
to nothing lead. Garbatanko comes in over the line. Here's
Garbatanco shot hit the side of the net, came around
on the far side and.
Speaker 15 (02:03:23):
Coming over to try and pick it up and bringing
it out of the zone, dumping it back down in
the corner.
Speaker 8 (02:03:29):
We're at the nearing the halfway mark of the third
period and the Badgers with a half a dozen up
on the board.
Speaker 15 (02:03:35):
Around over. Here's Potter with a drive of.
Speaker 8 (02:03:37):
The rebound scam a lot too deep back over to
Potter Gorbatanco in front of the neat still lind a
jam at home, but it's going to be played on
the far boards. Saint Thomas bangs it off the sidewall
and they clear it to the blue line of Wisconsin.
Abra Murphy broke that play up as it was dumped
back down on the zone around on the far side,
(02:04:00):
trying to control it.
Speaker 15 (02:04:02):
And out in front of the Badger's zone.
Speaker 8 (02:04:05):
It's going to be clear, moving it up Ice trying
to clear it and down goes uh Scandal. Then she
threw the stick and moving it in. Here's a shot
oh and not able to get it off as boring.
Who had a break and maybe an opportunity to score
back comes in right over the line.
Speaker 16 (02:04:24):
Eva, Eva looks uncomfortable after she got up from that.
Uh save there or you know, attempted save In terms
of what you I don't uncomfortable. I don't know if
she strained something. Uh when she you know, did the
splits there or tried to get wide.
Speaker 8 (02:04:41):
Coming back in over the line controlling it and the
play down in the corner on the nearer side.
Speaker 15 (02:04:46):
He looked like she moved pretty good.
Speaker 17 (02:04:47):
Yeah there, she looked real good. Healthy there.
Speaker 15 (02:04:49):
You're right.
Speaker 8 (02:04:50):
We went from post to post and coming back up
ice coming in over the line and moving it in
trying to go on the tour drag was Elberson? Then
take the shot to that didn't work man, coming back
over to pick it up.
Speaker 15 (02:05:03):
It's driven there.
Speaker 8 (02:05:04):
She made another sliding say back in the nap A
thirty three remedting in that period.
Speaker 16 (02:05:10):
Maybe she was just conserving energy, Paul, and I'm overreacting.
I just want to make sure she's healthy, that's all.
Speaker 8 (02:05:16):

I'm Paul Brown, a Michael's part of our broadcast as well.
Here at the rink, and Wisconsin with a sixth to
nothing laid here coming over to try and pick it
up along the boards on the near side, back down
in the corner, and Wisconsin in their own zone coming
out on the break. They'll move it up through Santas
(02:07:22):
and they'll drive it back down in and Wisconsin hustling
over to pick it up.
Speaker 15 (02:07:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, good hustling the seventh the night and
a lot of efforts there. And it may have been
peking hogging. I'm not sure, but I think it was
pure hustle. Boy, there's a lot of hustle there.
Speaker 16 (02:07:47):
The ref was gonna head Lives, had their arm up,
they were gonna call an icing, but our players just
hustled so hard they got to the puck first and
negated the icing and got a goal.
Speaker 17 (02:07:57):
Out of the deal by Pekanhagen, the.
Speaker 8 (02:08:00):
Third goal of the year man and Wisconsin has got
seven different players on the scoreboard tonaw where they go
three reminting in the period around on the far side,
the Badgers will work it through, hopefully coming up ice
with it.
Speaker 15 (02:08:17):
As Leila Edwards Badwards comes.
Speaker 8 (02:08:20):
Around to the far side, they come over to Venusio
cuts back into the line, chased back down in the corner.
Speaker 15 (02:08:30):
It did go to Peking Hoggin.
Speaker 8 (02:08:31):
Yeah, and Finley gets it one uses Yeah, and the
Badgers are out in front there.
Speaker 15 (02:08:42):
Coming over trying to control it.
Speaker 17 (02:08:45):
Nice to see the scoring by so many different people.
Speaker 15 (02:08:48):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 17 (02:08:49):
He'll spreading out the.
Speaker 15 (02:08:52):
Around on the far side, trying to control it.
Speaker 8 (02:08:57):
Gonna be played back down, going back over the Saturday
up seven minutes and ten seconds remaining here in the
third period of play.
Speaker 16 (02:09:10):
Chaffy always finds her way into heavy traffic, doesn't she up.
Speaker 15 (02:09:13):
Cap and there's a shot driven wide of the mark
goes back around to the far.
Speaker 8 (02:09:18):
Side over trying to control it. Wisconsin looking to try
and bring it out of their own zone. Yeah, and
come it over to try.
Speaker 11 (02:09:25):
And pick it up.
Speaker 15 (02:09:27):
That Peking Hoggin with the goal.
Speaker 8 (02:09:29):
She had an assist a little bit earlier in the game,
so she's got a couple of points.
Speaker 15 (02:09:33):
Yeah, whistle and play will be stopped.
Speaker 16 (02:09:35):
And she looks good on face offs too. You know,
it's having a productive night. They're going to face it
off here to the left of the goaltender handing.
Speaker 8 (02:09:49):
If my map is correct, eleven different players have points tonight.
Speaker 17 (02:09:52):
Wow, that's boy, that's when you can get that. That's
a nice night.
Speaker 8 (02:09:58):
Around six minutes, eight seconds remitting. I may be off
by one, but I think it's eleven. And there's a
shot like the side of the net around the far side,
coming over to trying to pick it up and controlled
and Wisconsin backing their own zone and they're working around
to the far side, coming over, jumping it back down
in the corner, Wisconsin trying to chase it down. There's
(02:10:22):
they're not giving up in the effort, the same intensity
in terms of.
Speaker 15 (02:10:27):
You love to see that.
Speaker 8 (02:10:28):
Yeah, yeah, I'm moving it back in over the line
and whistle and play is going to be stopped and
an off side call.
Speaker 15 (02:10:34):
Yeah, they haven't done that much.
Speaker 16 (02:10:37):
No game on top of it, Nope, So base it
off there in the neutral zone. Yeah, man, this game
is clipping along about six minutes left.
Speaker 15 (02:10:49):
Well you've got someplace to go, no hurry or no.
Speaker 17 (02:10:52):
No, I'm just it's going fast over tonight.
Speaker 16 (02:10:55):
Playing any senior hockey or anything tonight. You know, the
Men's League was thinking of starting tonight. The CBL, the
Coffee Beer League. Yeah, out there got.
Speaker 17 (02:11:06):
Three on three in a in a one zone area
with the number of players that you probably would remember.
Speaker 7 (02:11:13):
Who are some of them?
Speaker 16 (02:11:14):
You know you got Barry Richter and uh he's still playing, Yeah,
Dave a Duke and uh Stoffaker, Pavelski.
Speaker 15 (02:11:24):
Well he's in there now.
Speaker 16 (02:11:26):
Yeah, yeah, Rot, the Rothering brothers, Tim and Pete. Yeah,
the old CBL.
Speaker 15 (02:11:33):
Can I'll tell you versus those guys, Yeah, Burush usually
ducks in there.
Speaker 17 (02:11:38):
It's it's kind of a range of age now that
the yeah Joe started playing last year, Like whoa, holy cow,
here's a guy he could have played this year.
Speaker 15 (02:11:52):
Yeah, and he's all of a sudden he's playing in
the coffee.
Speaker 16 (02:11:55):
And yeah, yeah is that what you're calling? Yep, the CBL. Yeah,
coming back over to pick it up. Shout out to them.
Snedden plays in that. There's a whole host of names
that you'd recognize.
Speaker 15 (02:12:06):
And going back down in behind.
Speaker 8 (02:12:08):
Five minutes and fifty three seconds your minute, coming back Wisconsin,
moving it up, Ice controlling it, coming in over the line,
Bonusio with the drive kicked down back in behind, are
out of the fireboards at the point, coming over to
pick it up, Bonusio backing it up over to control it,
and Varusio coming out of the zone coming up. Ice
(02:12:31):
comes in over the line and Varusio lost control of
the buck going to be turned away.
Speaker 15 (02:12:36):
Badger women with a seven to nothing win or lead,
I mean not the wind.
Speaker 17 (02:12:42):
That yeah, don't don't get premature here now, Paul.
Speaker 8 (02:12:44):
They'd be thirteen one and one on the year, which
should be pretty nice, and trying to move it back door.
Speaker 15 (02:12:53):
Got to keep those wins coming because the Buckeyes and
the Gophers.
Speaker 16 (02:12:57):
Yeah, and they look like and they're right there. Yeah, yeah,
to be right, all those teams are right there. Man,
no margin for aer Yep.
Speaker 8 (02:13:04):
There's gonna be a real battle I think for the
championship coming up, Ice coming in over the line, played
back down. They tried to set it right out in front.
Under five minutes remaining in the first or third period,
pardon me, and back over the waver of Murphy. Okay,
but with it sliding it around to the break Wisconsin
circling for checking is brown for Saint Thomas College comes
(02:13:28):
back in over the line. They work it off the wing.
Here's moving out in front. Shohn drive and the cover
save against Abra Murphy.
Speaker 17 (02:13:36):
Nice to see Murph take it all the way to that.
Speaker 16 (02:13:38):
One of the reasons the CBL isn't playing tonight is
the Capitals play out of town and the coach, Tommy Gilbert,
also plays in that league.
Speaker 15 (02:13:45):
Oh so he's got it. You know, he can't play
it right right? Who buys the beer?
Speaker 17 (02:13:51):
It's kind of a communal effort there, it is.
Speaker 15 (02:13:54):
Yeah, there's a couple of those guys probably afford to
buy the beer.
Speaker 17 (02:13:59):
Yeah, no kid.
Speaker 8 (02:14:02):
Coming over to pick it up. Four seventeen. What a
great thing, Yeah, camaraderi.
Speaker 17 (02:14:07):
Yeah, it's really enjoyable.
Speaker 8 (02:14:09):
Yeah, laid back along down in the corner over to
try and pick it up. Maybe actually come over and
announce one of those.
Speaker 16 (02:14:18):
Actually, you should make a cameo sometime over the holidays here.
Speaker 17 (02:14:22):
That would be fun. You'd enjoy it too, they'd love
to see you.
Speaker 8 (02:14:26):
Oh, hilarious around on the far side, over to try
and control it, and to play down along the boards
on the near wing, coming over to try and pick
it up, and back at the point, back over to KK.
Speaker 15 (02:14:39):
Harvey with a drive. There's a shot and the cover
and a save. It's made.
Speaker 8 (02:14:46):
Three thirty nine remaining. Overall, pretty impressive performance here.
Speaker 16 (02:14:50):
Yeah, yeah, I uh, I'll tell you what, Saint Thomas
is good or better than I expected me too, And
I wasn't writing them off.
Speaker 17 (02:14:58):
And to begin with anyway. But they're a good team.
Speaker 8 (02:15:01):
And you say that and you go, really, that's seven
to nothing. Yeah, I mean if the Badgers had something
to do.
Speaker 7 (02:15:06):
With it, yep.
Speaker 17 (02:15:08):
It took a lot of good plays to put those
pucks in the net and come.
Speaker 8 (02:15:11):
It up Ice coming back in over the line. Three minutes,
twenty nine seconds, remitting and playing it up ice on
the it's going to be played back in rolling back
in the Badger zone. They're going to have a toss
of Teddy.
Speaker 15 (02:15:25):
Bears here at the end of the game. Oh tonight, yep,
the Teddy Bears toss. Did you bring one?
Speaker 17 (02:15:31):
I left my other truck there?
Speaker 15 (02:15:33):
You uh trolling it comes.
Speaker 8 (02:15:37):
In over the line, and Chapo with it. Chapo goes
around on the far side. She's pinned against the boards
on the far side. Badgers looking for help. Gorbatanco comes over,
try to control it. It's going to be broken up
two fifty remitting in the third period. The Badgers are
going to win the game. They're going to be thirteen
one and one on the year, and the Ws they're
(02:16:00):
going to be nine to one and one.
Speaker 15 (02:16:03):
Pick up three points for this win.
Speaker 8 (02:16:07):
Like I say, those points got to keep coming. The
Buckeyes in Wisconsin were tied.
Speaker 15 (02:16:12):
Coming into this weekend.
Speaker 8 (02:16:14):
Down the play along the boards on the near side,
coming over to try and control it. Badgers try to
work it out of the zone. They'll play it ahead
on the past and it's going to be dumped back
down to the corner. Trying to control it play in
the neutral zone. Saint Thomas works it back in behind
down to two ten remaining in this third period. Badgers
(02:16:35):
work it up ice and control comes in over the line.
There's a showl, nice shot and the kick save is
made by Hannon.
Speaker 17 (02:16:43):
That was a bullet off of Peking Hogen shick.
Speaker 8 (02:16:46):
Yep around the far side over the Harvey. Harvey working
it in shot right on, blocked by Hannon. Some good
opportunities here, back down, peking, hogging in the corner, peaking,
hogging with it along the board, back over to Harvey,
Harvey with it.
Speaker 15 (02:17:04):
Oh, she went down.
Speaker 16 (02:17:05):
I tell you that right there, that move. If you
were here, she was knocked down kind of. And she's
still she the ice. Yeah, moved this puck anyway, controlling
it with her stick.
Speaker 8 (02:17:17):
When she's sitting on the ice. Yeah, she could stick
in the ice and move the puck with her stick. Man,
she's just stripped up.
Speaker 17 (02:17:24):
Yeah, very entertaining to watch.
Speaker 15 (02:17:27):
Unbelievable one twenty four, remating.
Speaker 17 (02:17:35):
I couldn't believe I was watching it. I can't believe it.
Speaker 15 (02:17:37):
She she does stuff that you nobody else can do.
Speaker 16 (02:17:40):
And the and there was an opponent on their feet
and they couldn't steal the puck from her, like a
foot away from her, right next to Yeah.
Speaker 15 (02:17:47):
Jeez, unbelievable round and behind the net one minute. I
wonder if she'll make the Olympic game.
Speaker 8 (02:17:54):
You think, Oh, man, come up, ice comes in over
the line and played back gear because Cassie Hall.
Speaker 23 (02:18:02):
In front shut Yeah by number.
Speaker 15 (02:18:08):
Wow. Pickett gets the first goal on the path set
up beautifully.
Speaker 16 (02:18:13):
Oh man, what a play from Cassie Hall was that that?
Ye brought it all the way in there? Man, Oh beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Bickett scores Holy cow. I don't even know if she
expected that or not, but I'm glad she did it.
Speaker 15 (02:18:35):
Leila Edwards and the team gathered around picking.
Speaker 17 (02:18:38):
Yeah, that's great.
Speaker 15 (02:18:39):
Oh. They work so hard, you know, you get in
there to get some fruit for your efforts like that.
Speaker 8 (02:18:45):
It's great to see eighteen fifty three the time of
the goal. Wow, and even the whole bench is congratulated.
They're giving her a bad time.
Speaker 17 (02:18:57):
That's great.
Speaker 8 (02:19:00):
See Hall and KK Harvey got assists on the goal. Man,
oh man, and we're down now the less than a
minute remaining. Maybe they should make her the third star
of the game.
Speaker 17 (02:19:13):
That would be great, wouldn't it.
Speaker 15 (02:19:16):
Coming over to try and pick it up. There's a
young lady that just continues to work and work.
Speaker 8 (02:19:21):
She's the extra forward. Yeah, doesn't get a lot of
chances to play, and she here. She's been in nine games.
Speaker 15 (02:19:31):
Getting an opportunity on those nine games.
Speaker 17 (02:19:34):
So neat to see Paul Yeah, and coming.
Speaker 15 (02:19:38):
Back in over the line patrol to get. Here's McCartney
with a shot right on. I'm to save as man.
Speaker 8 (02:19:47):
So Paul gets her second assist of the night or
tenth of the year. Harvey gets another assist, her third
of the night and her eleventh of the year.
Speaker 15 (02:19:57):
Man Harvey and got a goal too.
Speaker 17 (02:20:01):
Yeah, well why wouldn't she.
Speaker 16 (02:20:05):
Unbelievable average night for KK four points, you know, and
we see this stuff a lot here, but you can't
take it for granted. It's really extra special play by
a lot of players here.
Speaker 15 (02:20:16):
Yep. And we'll have that face off coming up with
eight seconds your man.
Speaker 16 (02:20:20):
I try to remind myself of that now and then
you know, or like I'll get picky, Well, how come
we didn't score a goal on the power player?
Speaker 17 (02:20:28):
Well, because we scored eight with five on five? How's that?
Speaker 15 (02:20:31):
You know?
Speaker 17 (02:20:32):
I don't know. You don't want to get too greedy
or whatever, but it's just nice to see these girls.
Speaker 15 (02:20:37):
Get some Like I said, they're very talented team. There's
just no question about it. Very talent. It's fun to
be involved with it. It sure is.
Speaker 8 (02:20:47):
Paul get up ice control to get dumping it down
in the corner, played back in behind the net, worked
around the building and your final thoughts on the eight
to nothing win. The shutout is the sixth of the
season for Ava McNaughton, the nineteenth of her career. Badgers
(02:21:08):
win at eight to nothing, and it's the one hundred
and fifty fourth shutout in this building.
Speaker 16 (02:21:14):
Oh really, that I didn't know. That's pretty impressive. That's
a lot of shutouts. That's a lot of shadows.
Speaker 15 (02:21:20):
I want to say anything else about this, I just.
Speaker 16 (02:21:22):
Want to say, great effort, great team effort. You know
that much scoring by point totals by different players, and
a shutout, it's always a bonus round.
Speaker 17 (02:21:31):
So I on with that, see tomorrow and on Wisconsin.
Speaker 15 (02:21:34):
