Speaker 7 (02:44):
She tips it in and burn of the nest.
Speaker 6 (02:47):
He gets her and Wisconsin hustling over to pick it up.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Shove yeah, yeah, good hustle at the corner of the
managers and they sur the seventh goal of the night
and a lot and it may have been pikanhag Ih
not sure.
Speaker 6 (03:04):
But I think it was oh Man comes up Bice,
she comes in over the line, laid back gear, Cassie.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah. By second, Wow, Pickett gets the first goal on
the path, set up field up well.
Speaker 9 (03:24):
Quite the high highlight reel from last night's game. Eight
goals for the Badgers, a commanding eight nothing win. Saint
Thomas just had eleven shots on gold the entire game.
The Badgers found the back of the net eight times
and another shot out of course for Avan mcnotton. I
kind of jinxed it or I said the word shutout
in the intermission last night, and thankfully Avan McNaughton was
(03:46):
able to get it done and the commentator's curse did
not come into full effect. So the Badgers with that
big eight eight nothing win last night. Avian McNaughton playing
pretty well, but she didn't have much to do. The
defense was quite on one last night as well. Lacy
Eaton had a three point night as well, starting off
with that amazing hustle and great pass to find Gorbitenko
to take the lead for the Badgers. The lines are
(04:06):
the exact same for Wisconsin. Claire enright back on that
first line. It seems like every time you put Claire
Enwright on the first line she will score. She scored
again last night with her fourth goal of the season.
She's up there with Kirsten Simms on the right wing
and then Nadela Chapovalevova at center. That second line with
Lacey Eden now moving down to that second line on
the right wing with Cassie Hall and Kelly Gorbtenko, who
(04:27):
technically had the game winning goal in last night's game.
It was the first of eight, but in the stack
category it will be a game winning goal for her.
That third line with Bacard and Fimmy McCarthy is no surprise,
and then Maggie Scannell playing on right wing down there
with them, and then that fourth line, who we've gotten
quite a few shifts. They usually average about three or
four ships a night. They were out there probably six
(04:47):
or seven times last night. Mikayla Zillis on the left,
Hannah Halverson on the right, and Charlotte Pekinhagen at center.
Defense pairings as usual, Caroline Harvey and Layla Edwards teaming
up on that first pairing Lany Potter and Mackenzie Joe
who's sliding in for Vivian Jungles still out with an
undisclosed injury, and Ava Murphy and Emma Venusio as well, But.
Speaker 7 (05:06):
We can't forget the extra skater.
Speaker 9 (05:07):
Grace Bickett on defense getting her first career goal last night,
the eighth of eight in that game. Amazing to see.
Everybody wanted to see Bickets score and we did. It
was a beautiful effort from Cassie Hall centering pass and
Bickett's not going to miss from there.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
And then, of course starting in.
Speaker 9 (05:22):
Goal is Ava McNaughton being backed up by Riah Stewart
for the Tommies. Same lines as usual as well, except
for the goaltending change.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Last night.
Speaker 9 (05:30):
It was Danny Strum who made her third appearance of
the season and ended up getting cold about halfway through
the game. They put in Nora Han and the third
string goalie normally making just her third career appearance. She
made some decent saves but eventually let up a few
as well. But tonight it'll be the main goaltender for
Saint Thomas Julia Manatti, so it should be an interesting
(05:50):
one here when we come back. Tall Brown had a
chance to talk to Mark Johnson ahead of today's game.
That'll be the coach's corner, So stay tuned for that.
Speaker 7 (05:57):

Speaker 6 (07:02):
In the pregame show Game two against Saint Thomas, the
Badgers winning eight to nothing last night, Coach Mark Johnson
is with us, brought to you by Agape Ranch. That's
Mark and Leslie's dream, and we'll talk a little bit
about that in a couple of minutes. But you said
on the broadcast last night you wanted the kids in
the first ten minutes to get up on their toes.
Speaker 17 (07:22):
I'll tell you what it looked like.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
They really were up on their toes.
Speaker 18 (07:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (07:25):
They We came out and at a good first period, obviously,
scored some goals to create some excitement and energy in
the building. And one of the big things too, was
to see how much difference a game was compared to
playing last weekend up in Saint Cloud on the big
ice sheet, how we would adjust back down to the
normalized sheet. I thought we did really well and capitalized
on a bunch of opportunities early, which is always good.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Mark.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
There were some of those goals that from a broadcast
perspective and I think from a fan and from yours,
the one that really just one of them that stood
out to me was the effort by Egan when she
scored was unbelievable.
Speaker 17 (08:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (08:02):
There were, you know, I show clips this morning of
you know, all the goals we scored last night. You know,
at least half of them were effort type goals where
we were first on pucks. There's one of the things
I talked about for the game last night. You know,
everybody in the building is going to see who wants
to be first on pucks. And you know the opening goal,
you know, Lacy Eden beats them on a race one
on one, throws it out to Kelly or Kelly Gorbtenko
(08:24):
and she scores a real nice goal. And then you know,
Cassie Hall does a real nice job of getting behind
the net, create a turnover out to clear end right
to score a goal. And then yeah, so some of
the goals were just effort types goals, and from a
coaching perspective, you really like that because everybody in the
building sees who wants the puck and what you're willing
to do to go.
Speaker 17 (08:43):
Get that puck. You had a lot of kids that
wanted to puck.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Seven different people scored and you had twelve players who
had points.
Speaker 17 (08:49):
That's always good.
Speaker 19 (08:50):
I mean anytime you have depth in your scoring, because
as you all know you've been around the game a
long time, it's hard to score. And if you can
get consistent scoring from a lot of different players, then
you become really challenging to play against it.
Speaker 17 (09:03):
And you know, when you look at the team effort.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
We don't talk a lot about special teams and defense,
but those two areas also look very good.
Speaker 19 (09:11):
Yeah, the power play, you know, the first couple we
had last night, they were throwing a couple of wrinkles
at us, and then can you adjust to that? And
then you know, by the third period, you know, we
got a couple more opportunities, made some better decisions with puck,
which ends up creating more opportunities, and then you know,
the ovs opportunities going to the nets. So yeah, it's
all you're always working on it because everybody's studying what
(09:32):
you're doing, and the same thing with penalty killings, and
you're looking at what the other team's doing on their
power play and trying to make adjustments and then going
out and executing, and so those things have been real positive.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Up to this point. You know, I haven't been around
women's hockey that long, but I don't know if I've
ever seen anybody as a complete player that's better than
KK Harvey.
Speaker 19 (09:50):
Yeah, she'll bring you out of your seat real quickly.
I mean her speed and the way she gets around
the ice.
Speaker 17 (09:56):
You know, she's got a wonderful shot. To me. She
scored another goal last night.
Speaker 19 (10:00):
The second goal coming off the half wall and you know,
bar down in it.
Speaker 17 (10:04):
And there's not a lot of kids that can do
some of the things that she's capable of doing.
Speaker 19 (10:08):
So you know, we got a bunch of more games
with her as a Badger, So I'm certainly going to
enjoy him and get an opportunity to watch her in
the Olympics and then have her come back and you know,
finish out her career at Wisconsin, you know, doing a
lot of.
Speaker 17 (10:20):
Similar things she's done up to this point and helping
us win games, and her skating ability just seems very unique. Yeah,
she's she's beyond fast.
Speaker 19 (10:28):
I mean, she she keeps getting quicker and faster, but
you know, if she happens to make a mistake or
a mistake or get caught in certain situations, she has
that speed to get back and recover so quickly, which
a lot of people don't have. So you know, she's
like having a fourth forward on the ice. Sometimes she's
leading the rush into the offensive zone. Sometimes she's coming
up late. But you know when someone has that kind
(10:50):
in the speed speed, you know, you go that Nathan McKinnon,
who's leading the NHL and scoring right now.
Speaker 17 (10:55):
I mean he's very similar to all hep he's a
different position. I mean, his speed and.
Speaker 19 (10:59):
His strength give him opportunities that other players don't get.
Kk's that same type of players. She gets opportunities, greats,
opportunities that other players can't do.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
And the program is good at recognizing the contributions of
past championships, eight of those in two thousand and six,
and some of the alumni are here this weekend.
Speaker 19 (11:20):
Huh yeah, special weekend for you know, those players to
come back and see what you know, the present team
looks like, but also to go down memory lane and
reflect in some of the great memories and moments that
they had as players with some of their teammates will
be coming.
Speaker 17 (11:33):
Back, so it's always good to look in the past.
Speaker 19 (11:36):
You know, those are the players that kept the torch
light let and then pass down to that next group
of players, and we continue.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
To do that.
Speaker 19 (11:43):
So it's always fun to catch up with people, see
what they're doing with their lives, see what their family
situation is, and seeing most of them are very successful
in what they're doing.
Speaker 17 (11:52):
So that's always fun. Mark one more.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
We're not obviously going to break them out one at
a time, but just an overall comment on the seven recruits.
Speaker 17 (12:00):
You got coming in.
Speaker 19 (12:01):
It's a good class. It's a big class. You know,
we got a goaltender and then six players that'll compliment her.
But I like what it is is it's a high
skill level. You know, there's good players from you know
what they've done in the past, whether with you know,
Canadian under eighteen team or the US under eighteen team.
And the fun part is to bring him in, get
(12:23):
him in next summer, work with them and watch them,
you know, become better players over the course of their
time here at Wisconsin. Probably the thing that most excites
me about that entire group is the kids are great people,
their families are good people. And just going to add
to what we've been able to do over the last
several years is bring quality kids on the ice, but
(12:43):
also the equality people off the ice.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
And one final one for you and Lesley agape Ranch
is a dream come true. Just kind of summarize it
what people should know and what potentially they could do
to help out.
Speaker 19 (12:56):
Well, yeah, we're we're getting close to I call it
a soft opening here in the next probably two or
three weeks, and so it's going to give us an
opportunity to work with some young kids, bring them on
the property and start that processing of creating hope for
kids that you know might be dealing with the high
levels of anxiety or depression, suicidal thoughts and so you know,
(13:17):
people whether they donate financially or donate by volunteering. We've
already had a bunch of volunteers on the property as
we finish up the project.
Speaker 17 (13:25):
So the excitement is building.
Speaker 19 (13:28):
And you know, once we get the horses on the
property and we start affecting kids' lives one at a time,
that's where the real enjoyment's going to come because we
know we're going to be able to change some kids'
lives in their future.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
And if you want more information, going to the website,
which I'll let you give the title of.
Speaker 19 (13:44):
Yes Got a Ranch, wi dot org and a lot
of new information on there and upcoming things that are
going to be going on in the future. So if
you had a chance to jump on there and take
a look, if you want to get involved, give us

Speaker 17 (13:58):

Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved iheard radio app wtso am Medicine. We are
ten seventy The gang Free never sounded so good. Welcome
back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by All park players.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
Good evening, and welcome to lebon Arena on the campus
of the University of Wisconsin and Madison. Now along with
Mark Greenhall.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
I'm Paul Brown. I know you're an entertainer, but.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
That young lady playing the guitar and singing the anthem
was pretty good there.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
I almost started clapping. She's really a wonderful rendition. Did
you should do that? Couldn't you on harmonica? Maybe? Oh?
Not guitar? She was good, wasn't she?
Speaker 7 (16:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
She really was.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
I love it well, And the Badgers were pretty good
last night, putting up seven different players on the scoreboard,
twelve different players scoring points, and they shut out the
Tommys of Saint Thomas College a score of eight to nothing.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Yeah, hopefully we can pick up where we left off
as far as that regard goes. See what you can
do tonight.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Basically everything's the same for the Badgers in terms of
their forward lines. Defensively, they're set up the same and
Aba McNaught and the goaltender, that's just simply a staple.
Speaker 16 (17:20):
You know.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
A lot of teams may not play one goaltender that much,
but when you have somewhat of that ability, why not
ride it?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Yeah, Mark and I were discussing. You know, certainly we
like to give others a chance, but you know, every
game counts, and she's not a good run.
Speaker 11 (17:36):
You know.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
And the Tommies are dressed in their blue uniforms trimmed
with white numerals, a little silver stripe around Badgers with
the white jerseys on the red pants. They're going to
be skating from our right to our left, the Tommy's
from left to right in the face off circle. Cassie
Hall along with her linemates of Lacey Eden and Kelly
(17:59):
gorbatank Oh, they go walk against Barts, Boren and Horton.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Badgers win the draw with it.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
KK Harvey light it to the blue line of the
Tommies eating on the off wing, comes in, skates down
on the corner on the near side, works herself free,
works it all the way around along the boards, over
to the right side, back of it to the point
to Layla Lailah, back over to KK Harvey shot right
on and in the nets tonight for Saint Thomas is Manati.
(18:29):
That is their number one goaltender. It's down in the
corner room. Yeah, yep, you know the scouting report on
her at all.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
No, I don't really, to be honest with you, she's
I'm sure she's a solid goalie. She's a graduate student almost,
you know, so, she's been playing college hockey for a while.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
And shape Ovalla Boba is out on the line along
with Sims and n right. Edward's with it back out
on top over the Kirsten Simms in the far circle,
back of it to Edwards. They cycle it around the
Harvey just inside the blue line, right side Edwards with
a shot that into the glove of Manati.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
I don't mind seeing the puck come off Edwards stick
there from the point. I like it.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
Yeah. She had the thirty five goals and led the
country in goal scoring last year playing defense, though this
year I'm wondering if after the Olympics she may not
be moved back up top.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Wouldn't be surprised because that might very well happen, but.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
They want her on the Olympic team. We understand I
do from what I'm hearing to play defense. Back over
to Kirsten Simms. Sims are out on the play. There's
a shot Manati with the save. They tried to create
some traffic in front. Shapovalovova was there trying to screen
turn away the eyes of that goaltender.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Manati's doing a nice job of controlling that puck and
not yielding any rebounds so far.
Speaker 6 (19:53):
Based off coming up to the left side of Manati.
Now is the line of scandal Picard and McCarthy for
the and it's going to be set up and gas dick.
There's two gas dicks. The sisters played defensively on the
same parrot around the far side. Wisconsin will work it
(20:13):
up Ice in a hurry that come in over the
blue line. McCarthy had a straddle a line on the
near side, and it's going to be Saint Thomas for
the buck behind their own goal, setting it up. They'll
try to work it out on the near side. The
play comes to neutral Ice, Badgers.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Look to pick it up and they do.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
Ava Murphy is out with Venusio paired defensively wrapped around
the boards and trying to hold it in is Sajevic
Saidjevic out along with Sour and Lindaman. Badgers turn and
bring it out the right side, coming in over the line,
moving it in the shot kicked out the save maid
and cleared up Ice by the Tommies, and they'll dump
(20:53):
it back in the Badger's zone and whistle and icing
is going to be called.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
The first rebound. I seen her give up tonight and
we just didn't have anybody deep enough in the slot
there to pick it up.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
Baise Off will come up to her left side. Manati
is so far her goals against average is two point
three three and it's going to be played in front
of the Tommy bench.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
They work it in over the line.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Bart's is out with Bourne and Horton, and Bart's down
to the corner over trying to pick it up. Horton
and Born trying to help out back to the point
of the play to Gasdick. Gasdick has it. They come
around on the near side and the play over the
mom Mom plays it behind the that over to Bart's.
Bart's trying to pick it up buck loose and the
Badger's zone near boards. The Tommy's look to hold it
(21:44):
in and do there's a drive when why of Ava
comes all the way around to the near boards in
the far corner and coming back over to set it up.
Wisconsin with Bnusio on the puck looking for the outlet
on the pass, will come around on the play Badgers
out of the zone. They have the line of Zilich,
Pekinhogen and Halverson out in the eyes turning coming up
(22:06):
Ice Gasdick with it off in the lead. The play
comes to the blue line of the Badgers coming in
over the line as Berger, paired with Brown and cooling camp.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Are out of the far side.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
They play it back to the point hopped over the
stick though of gas Dick and the Badgers have to
go back as the Tommy's dumping to the back wall
and coming up the boards on the far side and
it's going to be flipped around and chasing it down
in the near corner for Wisconsin Gorba Tankel and she
was bumped and lost control of the play. The Tommy's
(22:40):
turn try to bring it out. Badgers try to fore
check and hold it in and going back is Lelea
Edwards and we'll.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Have another icing call.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
We are sixteen thirty five remaining in the first period.
No score shots on goal for for the Badgers and
none for St.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Thomas. Yeah, see if we can get a few more here,
win this draw here to the left of their goaltender.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
And Cassie Hall out with Eden and Gorbatankle.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
That line is.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
They've got a total of forty one and sixty four.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Points for that line alone. Pretty productive.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Yeah, they play well together, like playing with each other.
Going back around over to set it up, Maxwell turns
and tried to fire it out. Badgers will pick it up.
Garbatanko it sent her eyes, carries it in over the line,
moving it in shot, got a good one away, but
it's deflected wider than that around on the far side
and it's going to be played trying to lead it
(23:40):
ahead on the pass to Brown. Badgers chase it back
down in the corner Wisconsin. Gorbatankle will skate behind the
net of Wisconsin. She works it up Ice controlling the
play on the far boards, played it to the blue
line of the Tommies. They turn it back and coming
in over the line is Sadie Lindsey with it and
(24:00):
looking for helping the play from Parker and Rice. That's
that forward line for Saint Thomas around on the far
boards Wisconsin, in front of the bench area on the
far side, trying to get a look is where in
the puck is going. Aba Murphy will chase it down
along the back wall Wisconsin in their own zone. Fifteen
thirty six remaining in this scoreless first period, hop through
(24:23):
center ice on the near boards, Murphy with it and
she flipped it down in behind the app trying to
chase it down as Gazdik Wisconsin holding it in chapel.
Baalivova is out and and right on the line comes
around over to Venusio with.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
A drive right on in. The save is made by Manati.
Nice to see Venuzio pull the trigger there. She's pulled
it a lot more this weekend. Yeah, she's she's liking that,
eh says.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
I like to score. Only had one goal last year,
but getting the edge, she's got more than that already
this year. She's got two up on the board and
they shot and coming over a round over to set
it up when with it is gas Dick on the
far boards. Badger's pinch and hold it in. There's a shot.
Mananti with a save down on both knees, tucked it
(25:14):
away and we'll have another face off coming up. Fifteen
oh five remaining in the period and Right is out
with Schapo, Volley Boba.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
And Kirsten Sims.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
Kirsten was the forward of the week in the WCHA
and trying to play it ahead and it's going to
be played the length of the ice and the Badgers
will go back in.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Another icing is going to be called. Is that a
strategy here? I don't know if they're dump and run there,
but a little too much. Well, they're going to face
it off here to the right of Manati, I believe,
and Chapo ready for that face off.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
That's one in control by the Tommies behind the net
Roana the far side, Saint Thomas with the play in
front of their bench area fireboards. Kirsten Simms along with Potter.
Potter comes around in the play Wisconsin, trying to bring
it out of their own zone. They'll work it up
ice and it's Enright who plays it back down in
(26:15):
behind Manatti with her big stick. She whipped it around
on the fire side and tried to bring it out
of the zone. The Tommies controlled it. They come in
over the Wisconsin line. We will get in shot kicked out,
fired by Barts with a good opportunity, but turned away
on the big kick save by Ava McNaughton of the Badgers.
(26:36):
Wisconsin in their own zone fourteen thirteen, reminting, they try
to lead it out to pass ahead. Scannal picks it up.
Scannal skates behind the app toward the back wall, trying
to get her own pass, but the Tommies will turn
and out. They come through center ice with it as
burger Berger beaten to the puck by Edwards, KK Harvey
back get help and it's picked up by Prakar to
(27:00):
Edwards on the play back of the Harvey at the
Badger line, who back handed ahead, coming in over to
the near boards. The Tommy's trying to control it at
their own blueline. Badger's for card tried to take it away.
Pressure by Wisconsin. Brown with it in the neutral zone,
turning looking for help. Badger's pinching in the neutral zone,
(27:21):
trying to pick it up. Scandal controls try to go
to piccard. The Tommy's turn. They'll go back in over
the line with it as Burger off on the play
far boards. That was by cooland Camp. The drive went
wide in Wisconsin. Tried to pick it up in the
neutral zone and cooland Camp will turn and drive it
back down in and Wisconsin. In a scoreless game. Six
(27:46):
shots and goal won for the Tommies. We're at the
thirteen minute mark of the period. Gorvetanco trying to move
in you had hauled and working in front of the nap.
Couldn't get her the pass to the point over the
wave of Murphy plays the wing over to Cassie Hall
with a drive that hit the back wall on the
far boards. The Tommy's turn and they'll slide it down
(28:09):
into Badger's zone and with it Ava McNaughton will cover
and stop the player.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Well, we're getting a few shots on that, Paul, but
none counted yet.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Pace Not the same as last night, Not quite.
Speaker 19 (28:23):
No.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
Last night they were up on their toes right what
Johnson talked about, yep said the first ten minutes he
wanted them to play on their toes. And I'll tell
you if you were here and watch the game, they
were skating ye holy smokes, flying around the ice like
crazy and scoring goals three in the first period around
(28:46):
the boards on the near side, over to control it back,
goverround and top the shot tipped away from in front.
Eden Is out on the ice, Aiden plays it ahead.
She had three points in the game last night, including
a couple of goals. Said different players scored for the Badgers,
and twelve had points last night. Coming up ice controlling
(29:06):
get Badgers in the neutral zone, try to pick it
up and it'll be played back down. Chasing it back
down as Potter. Potter scored a goal last night, and
that was from a deep angles. He was almost at
the red line and coming in trying to get off
a drive. Venusio forced the plate of not get the
drive off and covering up ave in front of the net.
(29:27):
Nice job defensively by Venusio. Coming up ice, Badger's potential
moving it in and sim shot deflected away. She had
hand right on her left, but decided to take the
wrister and the Badgers with it. There's Edwards out on
top over the KK, Harvey stick anting with a pox
(29:48):
moving in with trying to get it free. Sims Is
in front of the goal and stick handling with it. Unbelievable.
Then turn back and coming the other way. It's Brown
and Harvey getting back quickly. She looked like a magician
playing that buck past the Tommy.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
She made something out of nothing.
Speaker 6 (30:06):
There here comes Shapeo Schapo coming in over the line,
got scandal with her moving it in Backcander and it's
going to be turned away. Scandal in front of the goal,
tried to center it and the Tommy's turn. Badgers hold
it in. McCarthy around over the way of Murphy with
a drive that came off the glass held in by
mackenzie Jones.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
They shot it wide of the goal.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Comes around on the play over to Murphy, back to
the point on the plaid over to McCarthy, but it's
chipped off her stick and the Badger's forced to go
back neutral zone. McCarthy comes back into the line, shot
into the glove of Manati. But there was a nice
shift of pressure there on the part of the Badgery.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yep, it sure was. That was nice.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
Ten a minutes, thirty two seconds remaining here in period
number one. No score up on the board. Badger's and
Saint Thomas, Wisconsin thirteen one and one in the year.
The Tommys are eight and nine. The Badgers in the
league are nine one and one and Saint Thomas is
three and eight.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Nice play there. Picard wins a draw right back to McCarthy.
She gets a high quality shot off Coolie makes a save.
Speaker 6 (31:18):
Mary Ann Picard, I'm at Quebec and still looking for
her first goal of the year.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
She'll get it, yeah, probably, I'm surprised she doesn't have
one already.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
And played back down in the corner. Chasing it back
down over is Mackenzie Jones. Mackenzie Jones playing defensively and
coming up ice controlling it coming in over the line.
Vivian Jungles is out of the lineup for the Badgers. Yeah,
and then she gets to play defensively, comes around on
the play over the Gorbatanko. Gorbatanko's drive is deflected and
(31:52):
it's going to be picked up by Riley Barts, and
there's a check along the boards and Tommy's will change up.
Badgers go back in their own zone and they'll regroup
and start out a.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Little worried there. Potter slid into the boards pretty hard.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
Up and she just came back from an injury, and
it's going to be played back down in the corner,
going around over to try and pick it up behind
the at Badger's pension and good four check by Garbatanko
official in the way, get out of the way.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
I don't want to control this fan. Now here's Goorbol
with it. Garbo right out in front, centering the pass.
Nobody home for the Badger's good idea right in the
slot there.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
And it's going to be dumped up the far side
back down to the Badgers zone. With nine twenty one
remaining in the first period.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Yeah, that for check was nice and strong Gorbo and Eden,
pressure and hard bad.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
We'll have the face off coming up back in the
Saint Thomas zone. Badger's Uh. They'll go to Nashville, Tennessee
after the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
For a tournament down there.
Speaker 6 (32:57):
Greenie will be down there, Aiden Michael will be on
the mike with the play by follow that one from Nashville.
You're gonna go listen to a little music, are you?
Speaker 4 (33:06):
I might? I might find my way on what is
it Broadway down there? I have no idea.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Here's Sims moving it in, trying to get off a
shot at chapel with the rebound shot and it comes
round over to Edwards over to Harvey. Harvey back over
to Edwards. Edwards with it shot block and Manatti doesn't
know where it is. No, and back over to Harvey.
Harvey back over to Edwards. Edwards with a drive in
traffic and that's turned in around over to Sims. You
(33:32):
get the feeling it's just a matter of time here.
We're putting the pressure round over to Harvey, back out
on top, over to Edwards, Edwards shot in traffic, that's
blocked nicely done around on the far side. Chapeo Volli
Vova tried to pick up the puck and it's going
to be turned away by the Tommies. Badger's Leyley Edwards
plays it to the wing on the near side. Badger's
(33:54):
back on the attack and over the line. Harvey with
a drive and that one went wide and all the
way around and all the way back in the Badger's
zone and Leyley Edwards goes back again, pulls up behind
that hole whoa almost passing around.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
I'm glad one of the Tommy's right in front of
the Badger goal. That would have been an expensive turnover.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
And coming in there's a shot run wide of the goal.
The Badgers in the near boards Eden over to try
and get some help in Eden in front shot block
pounding her away. Peking' hoggins still being pile up and
whistle and play is gonna be stopped with a scoreless
game and we're gonna take a time out. This is

Paul Brown. We're at seven p fifty eight remitting in
the first period, scoreless here at lebonn As the Badgers
and Saint Thomas College out of the Twin Cities playing
here WCHA game.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Here's Aba Murphy around over the rows.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
She tried to go to Cassie Hall, but that was
strike one as she tried to hit it towards the
net and coming over to try and pick it up
back over Eden with it right out in front centered
it that was turned away from in front of the goal.
Badger's for checking, trying to hold the zone the puck
and center ice near boards, and Wisconsin will go back
and pick it up. Mackenzie Jones for Wisconsin. The Badgers
(36:27):
look to clear it up the nearboards in the neutral zone.
A little sub scrambled there for the puck and it's
going to be turned back and Horton goes in over
the line for Saint Thomas, Wisconsin goes behind the nat
We have seven fourteen remedic it a scoreless first period,
Eden picking it up. Aiden will skate over and pick
it up behind the net, but it was played away
(36:49):
from her. Gadzi it quickly and it's driven all the
way back down to the Badger's zone. Ava mcnattin cut
it off from the back wall so the Badgers can
pick it up on the fly. They drive it down
in the corner, back down on the Tommy zones. Manatti
flipped it around on the far side, trying to get
some help to bring it out of the zone. As
she get it too housy, Wisconsin holds it back in
(37:13):
around over to McCarthy. McCarthy tied up as she tried
to take a shot, and McCarthy goes down. We got
let's see, we're gonna get a penalty here.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Yeah, I think they're gonna put McCarthy in.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
The BPS from yep. So the Badger's at thirteen twenty
three yep, tripping the call and that gives the power
play opportunity.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Yeah, they'll bring it down to our defensive end here
and see if we can kill this one off.
Speaker 6 (37:47):
Six thirty seven are mening in the period. We're scoreless
here thirteen to three. In shots about the power play
situation and the penalty kill unit for Wisconsin's been very effective.
They've only allowed four power play goals on the year.
I believe it's four if I remember correctly. You have
to look quickly, I think though around on the far
(38:10):
side over to try and set it up. The Tommy's
looking for the outlet on the pass. They try to
go back door in front shut and the goal to
flect it in. They get the tip and the Tommies
take the lead over. The Badgers had one do not
think it may have been Madison Brown. I'm not sure,
but that could be the player that got the goal.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Yeah, they had two players right there and Increase and
one of them got a stick on it, tipped it
in almost kind of like a redirect thirteen.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Forty nine, and the Tommies take the lead. Brown from
We'll get it. One of the Gadziks got one of
the assists and it's going to be and troll by Wisconsin.
Here's Kirstin Simms moving it in over the line over
(39:04):
to Abam McNaughton with the drive comes around to the
play Badger's trail on the power play goal scored by
Saint Thomas. They worked the wing on the near side,
down deep in the zone, in the corner around the
boards on the far side. Maybe this will strike a
little cord in the Badgers here being behind That hasn't
happened much this season. All around deep down in the
(39:27):
corner on the far boards, over to pick it up.
It's end right back over to Kirsten Simms on the
far side, both teams at full strength. Edwards comes around
over to Harvey. Harvey played it pass, picked up her
own pass, goes around on the wrap around for the
drive and the save is made. Nice effort by Harvey.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Yeah, great idea. But Manati got over to the other
side of the crease and stopped that wrap around goal
attempted by k Ky Harvey. A great play by Harvey.
Speaker 6 (40:01):
Brown got the goal and that is goal number three
for her on the year. A couple of assists given
in a one to nothing lead on the Saint Thomas
power player five minutes twelve seconds remaining here in period
number one, and the Badger's Gorbatanko trying to chase it
down Maxwell beating her to the Orbitanko looking trying to
(40:25):
get some help, but the Tommies will turn it up
ice and they'll bring it in over the Wisconsin line.
Mackenzie checked one of the Tommies there and play is
going to be stopped. Ellenhouse he got an assist in
that goal. That was her ninth of the year, and
also picking up an assist was Genessa Gadzik and her
(40:48):
eighth of the year on the goal that was scored
by Brown, her third of the year. And so Wisconsin
now playing catch up hockey. They move it to center. Ice,
will drive it back down in the corner four forty three,
remitting and the shots are up fourteen to four, Badger's ahead.
(41:09):
But the Tommy's control on the scoreboard here over to
Cassie Hall are out on the far side and Saint
Thomas with it. They'll play it up Ice on the
near side, comes through neutral and it's going to be Brown.
Brown down to the corner of the right side, turned
and fired it toward the goal and we'll have a
stoppage of play there.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
The two thousand and six NCAA championship team one of
eight titles won by the Wisconsin Badger women's program. Some
of those players are here in the building.
Speaker 6 (41:43):
They will be honored tonight this big skate event tomorrow
for some of the alumni here at Lebonn. And Wisconsin
will turn it back in their own zone on the
break to pick it up and control it. Wisconsin goes
behind the NETO with it around on the far side,
off on the lead. They'll go on the playover to McCarthy.
(42:06):
McCarthy laid it back down in behind. Wisconsin centers it
right out in front, play along the boards over to
pick it up, and it's along the wall in the
Wisconsin zone and Badgers and the Tommies try to work
it loose back over to McCarthy with a shot, and
it went in on the Tommies and a cover up
came loose and play is going to be stopped.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Boy, I thought somebody might tip it in there. We
had Picard right in the crease almost, but Manatti was
able to cover it up.
Speaker 6 (42:39):
What do you see, if anything differently that Saint Thomas
is doing to kind of keep the Badgers from getting
on track here.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
Well, I'd have to say Manotti's kind of really getting
the job done in net to begin with, they capitalized
on their power.
Speaker 6 (42:52):
Play obviously, and it comes around the boards on the
far side. Wisconsin eight to nothing night in game one
of this series, there's another turnover and they're going to
come up with another power play situation as shapeo volley.
Vova held her up and uh, it's going to be
the Tommy's going on the power play.
Speaker 4 (43:14):
Yeah, we don't want to repeat to the last penalty kill.
We got to make sure we kill this one off. Shappy,
you'll go to the box for two.
Speaker 6 (43:25):
And that comes at sixteen thirty one.
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Of the period. Yeah, you want to stay out of
the box.
Speaker 6 (43:33):
They called her for hooking, so shorthanded again for Wisconsin.
Around on the far side and the Tommy set it
up and try to control it. They're moving the puck
here in the zone to our right and Gadzick with
the drive out front and it's swept away quickly by
(43:53):
edwards to the near wall. The Tommy's try to set
up the power play with three to zero seven Ormennican
the peer. They're kind of quiet here in.
Speaker 4 (44:02):
Hn right now.
Speaker 6 (44:03):
Well around on the side, there's a shot right out
in front. The Badgers look to clear it and coming
out of the zone and that they stopped to play
at the blue line.
Speaker 4 (44:15):
Yeah, it is quiet in here. We haven't even a
much to cheer about, you know, not yet, haven't put
anything on the board, and we've yielded one. So we've
got a number of shots on net, but we're not
got to make them call it.
Speaker 6 (44:29):
Shot so far fifteen to six, but just outside the
blue line of Wisconsin Badgers look to try and set
it up in the neutral zone.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
It's going to be played.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
Saint Thomas has still has one minute eighteen seconds remitting
on the power play, but that goes up over the
boards and another stoppage there. Penalty killed four Wisconsin. Venusio
is out on the ice, Leyley Edwards is out and
Right is out. They had a little jarring going out
(45:05):
on the far side, trying to get the players set
and Picard tried to win that face off. Potter was
the one that was trying to jam it a along
the boards on the far side. One five remitting on
the power play coming through center ice turning now trying
to control it on the play. The movie got ice
(45:26):
coming in over the line and they're moving it in.
There's a shot that's saved by McNaughton. They're getting good
pressure and good scoring.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
Out they're giving high percentage chances.
Speaker 6 (45:37):
Yep, they really are. They're moving the puck around on
the far side, coming over, trying to pick it up
and controlled with it. As horting off on the far side.
They try to work three four players deep in front
of the net there right in the slot, trying to
screen McNaughton there with bodies around back out on top
over to try and control it and trying to set
(45:59):
it up. They laps the power play the Badgers defensively
and Finusio with it. She's bumped along the boards trying
to clear it out and Wisconsin will go back. Saint
Thomas directing traffic. They've replaced one of their players. They
move it in shot when want of the goal fired
by Boren and we're down now to three seconds and
(46:20):
then the Badgers are going to be back at full
strength and they need to get it out of the zone.
Speaker 4 (46:24):
Wisconsin at full strength. Well then see yo, I'm sorry,
go ahead, Paul and back over to set it up
in control.
Speaker 6 (46:32):
They come back in over the line. Here's Brown again
with a shot and the cover saved by Ava McNaughty.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
Well, Saint Thommy's has showing me they've got a pretty
good power play, yea. You know, they've really maintained puck
possession on this last go round here, and they scored
on the previous one, so they're not to be taken
lightly when they're on the power play.
Speaker 6 (46:52):
The goal of the game came at thirteen forty nine
mark of the period and it was scored to buy
Madison Brown or third goal the ear one point fifteen
remitting in the period, and we'll have that face off
coming up to the left side of Ava McNaughton and Wisconsin.
(47:12):
Scandal is cut off in the neutral zone and jarred
against the boards there and played back down.
Speaker 4 (47:19):
Wisconsin in behind. Gorbatanco around on the far side.
Speaker 6 (47:24):
One minute remaining in the period, comes back over to
Mackenzie Jones back on the wing over to Wave Murphy.
Murphy with it played it out in front, going to
be turned back and coming up ice controlling get Mackenzie
Jones back of it. Has set it up for Wisconsin
on the play, it's going to be dumped down on
the corner on the near side, back in the badger zone.
(47:46):
Wisconsin over to try and pick it up back in behind.
Here's Kelly Gorbatanco, Garbatanco pulls up behind the net, got
haul in front, scandal in front, oh, but it was
cleared back to the point on the right side. Comes
over to Abra Murphy with a drive block their turn
in front. Gorba Tenko tried to pick it up backhander
(48:06):
by Hall and cover in front of the net. Badgers
hold it in and they'll try to set it up
for a less than ten seconds for making the period
and Manati goes that's enough, fives it out and covers
it up.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
I'll tell you, we got to just keep getting the
puck to the net. She's gonna have to give up
some rebounds eventually, I would think, you know, But she's
doing a nice job, meaning Manatti of control that first
shot pretty well.
Speaker 6 (48:35):
And the face off will come up to her left side,
back in the zone of Saint Thomas and the draws
won by the Tommys back around on the wing and
Harvey tried and did center it. Then there's the end
of the first period and Saint Thomas skates to the
(48:56):
locker room with a one to nothing lead over the Badgers.
Your thoughts they're greening.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
Well, I guess we should stay out of the box.
For last number ones. Yeah, they got a nice power
play and we just got to keep getting bucks of
the net and get somebody to the net to play
that rebound. As soon as possible.
Speaker 6 (49:10):

Speaker 1 (51:50):
This is Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Folk Park Plays.
Speaker 9 (51:58):
Welcome back inside Leavon Area here in Madison, Wisconsin eight
and Michael's here with you in the intermission report brought
to you by Fields Madison. You're listening to ten seventy
of the game. The Badgers down won nothing against Saint Thomas.
This is not something that we've had to say against
Saint Thomas in quite some time. It's the first time
the Badgers have allowed the first goal of a game
here at Lebon this season. Fifteen shots on goal for
(52:22):
the Badgers, just eight for Saint Thomas. And if you
want to grab a headset, we're on the air right now.
Speaker 7 (52:27):
Alex, how are you.
Speaker 25 (52:27):
I'm great?
Speaker 26 (52:28):
How are you?
Speaker 7 (52:29):
I'm great?
Speaker 9 (52:29):
And we're joined now by Alex Briggsby Cavallini, former Wisconsin Badger,
of course national champion, World champion, Olympic champion, we can
go on.
Speaker 7 (52:37):
What is it like for you to be back here
at Lebon?
Speaker 25 (52:39):
Oh, my goodness, it is so much fun.
Speaker 12 (52:42):
I feel like even just coming into Madison today, it's
like my home away from home. And just to get
to see former teammates and players that came before me.
It is just so special to be back here. And
you know, obviously, every time I come back here, I'm
just so proud to be a Badger.
Speaker 7 (52:58):
And when was the last time you saw some of
your teammates that you're seeing today?
Speaker 4 (53:01):
And this weekend.
Speaker 12 (53:02):
I did see a couple of my teammates in October.
I came up for a quick weekend or a quick day,
I should say. But the other time, the last time
I was here and in Madison and saw a women's
hockey geam was last January, and I brought my daughter,
my husband and my parents, and I was pregnant with my.
Speaker 25 (53:20):
Now eight month old.
Speaker 9 (53:22):
Wow, that's amazing. So obviously we know the Wisconsin Badgers.
I would say I'm a little biased, but I would
say the best women's hockey program in the world, in
the country. But it all started with the two thousand
and six national championship. Obviously you run that team. I'm
sorry that eleven.
Speaker 23 (53:41):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (53:42):
I made a mistake on that year. You're on the
twenty eleven team.
Speaker 9 (53:45):
Obviously, you're part of the early teams that the Badgers
have won national championships four Obviously they've won.
Speaker 7 (53:50):
Last year, the year before that.
Speaker 9 (53:53):
Just take me back to some of your best memories
on that twenty eleven championship team.
Speaker 25 (53:57):
Well, I think what was so special coming into that
year was one, like you said, two thousand and six,
two thousand and seven, two thousand.
Speaker 12 (54:03):
And nine, they won national championships and so you knew
the legacy that was being created here at Wisconsin. And
what was so special about that team too, is I
came in the season after the twenty ten winner Olympics
in Vancouver, so I got to play with Megan Duggan
and Hillary Knight, and it was just so cool to
be a part of that team and to have that
leadership and obviously the I mean not obviously, but the
(54:26):
Olympics were always one of my goals to be a
part of and to be able to come onto that
team right away and have those mentors in my back
pocket and in my corner was something so truly special,
and that season two with Megan Duggan as our captain,
it was something that I really carried with me through
the rest of my career. Where you know, one of
(54:50):
the biggest things that we harped on through that twenty
eleven season is every person matters on this team, every
piece of like everyone matters and everyone's a big piece
of this puzzle.
Speaker 25 (55:00):
And so it was just a really special year.
Speaker 12 (55:02):
And I'll never forget to winning WHA's that season with
Kelly Nash winning in overtime to secure that championship and
Carlo Pentmone coming in and hyping up the team between overtime,
and there are just so many special memories, especially with
that being my freshman year, and so to top it off.
Speaker 25 (55:21):
With the national championship my freshman year was truly something
very special.
Speaker 7 (55:25):
Not many people can say they've done that in their
freshman year.
Speaker 9 (55:28):
Coming from playing high school before going to college and
then coming to play for one of the best teams
of the country, then winning a national championship, like you said,
has got to be an incredible feeling. I wouldn't know
anything about that, obviously, but you, of course would. One
of the best teams in college hockey history. Incredible to watch.
I was too young to watch that, but of course
I've seen some highlights, so you know, I've seen some
(55:48):
stuff on YouTube. I've read about that and all that stuff.
But it was in Pennsylvania. Now we're gonna be back
in Pennsylvania for the Frozen Four, hopefully the Badgers will
be there. Do you know any of the Badgers on
this current team.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (56:00):
I actually played with Lacey Eden and Carolyn Harvey with
the national team, and so it's pretty cool to come
back and see.
Speaker 25 (56:09):
Them still playing and doing their thing here.
Speaker 12 (56:12):
I mean, KK is one of the best defensemen I've
ever played with, and she was eighteen when I was
playing with her, and so it's been really cool to
see her really step into her role here at Wisconsin
and really embrace it and be a Badger and continue
to do amazing things with Wisconsin. And you know, I
think that's what's so special too, is you got Mark
Johnson leading the way here and the coaching staff, and
(56:35):
they're able to kind of harvest those players and really
create this atmosphere that's gonna pull out the best in
each player.
Speaker 9 (56:45):
And talk to me a little bit more about playing
under a guy like Mark Johnson obviously a man of
very few words, but just your experience with playing under
him and winning championships with him as well.
Speaker 12 (56:56):
He's a person that you want to play your best
for every single day. You want to bring it every
single practice, you want to bring it every single game.
You know, he expects a lot but gets the most
out of you in a very you know, professional way.
And so I think that's really special. Now, especially as
(57:19):
I'm kind of older, I've been through many different coaches
and I can honestly say he was one of the
best coaches I've ever had, and I feel very fortunate
to have been coached by Mark Johnson. And you know,
just kind of the routines that you get in with him,
the you know, like I said that, what he has
sets high expectations for you and and he's able to
(57:42):
kind of, you know, like I said, harvest that.
Speaker 25 (57:44):
And so I think that's really special.
Speaker 7 (57:46):
Do you miss playing the game at all?
Speaker 4 (57:47):
Oh?
Speaker 25 (57:48):
I miss it so much. And you know, I'm a
very competitive person, so I think I miss that.
Speaker 12 (57:55):
But the thing that I miss, ultimately the most down
is being a part of a team and my teammates
and being in that locker room. And so I think
that's what's special about coming back to these weekends is
you get to see some of your best friends, people
that you've been through, your.
Speaker 25 (58:11):
Highest highs through and your lowest lows.
Speaker 12 (58:13):
And so it's really special to to come back here
and kind of share those stories and kind of share
those similar experiences.
Speaker 25 (58:21):
And so I miss that the most. You know, I
love being a mom.
Speaker 12 (58:25):
Now I have two you know, fun and amazing girls,
and I'm so excited for what's to come for them
with hockey. And you know, I think Mark needs to
keep coaching for another, I don't know, fifteen years, so
my daughter can be coached by him. So hopefully she's
a future badgery or both my girls.
Speaker 7 (58:43):
Well positions they or is it too early?
Speaker 25 (58:45):
Oh it is way too early to.
Speaker 12 (58:47):
Sign that crazy hockey mom right now? My three years
my almost three year old, thinks she's a hockey player.
So she actually asked me on the way here today
why she wasn't coming on the ice and why she
wasn't dropping the puck because she did have the opportunity
to drop a pucket a PWHL game awesome, So she
was very excited about that.
Speaker 25 (59:08):
So, yeah, we're excited. There's actually a family skate tomorrow.
Speaker 12 (59:12):
That we'll get to go on and she'll get to
skate and show off her little skating skills.
Speaker 9 (59:17):
Yeah, I was gonna ask about that. So you'll be
back on the ice tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (59:21):
How excited are you to do something?
Speaker 8 (59:22):
Oh?
Speaker 25 (59:22):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 12 (59:23):
I mean, it's so fun to get the you know,
Isabelle on the ice, my oldest daughter and my eight
month old not even close, but we'll kind of carry her.
Speaker 25 (59:32):
But very fortunate.
Speaker 12 (59:34):
I get to work with the Saint Louis Blues and
I get to go on and learn to plays and.
Speaker 25 (59:40):
So girls are learning to play hockey and.
Speaker 12 (59:42):
And at the age of four they get to go
on the ice and they get to learn to play hockey.
And so it's pretty, uh, mind boggling that in a
year I get to have my daughter come on the
ice with me and learn to play hockey. So it's
pretty exciting and we're really really looking forward to getting
back into the hockey.
Speaker 25 (59:56):
World in different aspects.
Speaker 9 (59:57):
Yeah, can you talk to me a little bit more
about working with the Blue organization sort of what you
guys are doing.
Speaker 12 (01:00:02):
Yeah, so it's great I were living in Saint Louis,
so I've been very fortunate to work with the Saint
Louis Blues for the last three years as an ambassador
for women's hockey, and it's been so great.
Speaker 25 (01:00:13):
I mean, I love working with them. I get to
go on the ice.
Speaker 12 (01:00:15):
And when I grew up playing hockey, the only other
girl I knew playing hockey around my age was Brianna Decker.
She was a year older than me, and I thought
that was the coolest thing that I knew another girl
that was playing hockey.
Speaker 25 (01:00:29):
And now with the Saint Louis.
Speaker 12 (01:00:30):
Blues, they've done such an amazing job growing the game
of hockey in Saint Louis that we have routinely forty
girls learning to play hockey together and it's something as
a five year old for me like never would have imagined.
So they're doing something truly special in Saint Louis. You know,
obviously I missed my Madison roots here, but it's been
(01:00:52):
great peen in Saint Louis and helping grow the game
down there. And I just get to go do different
events with them and try to bring excitement to Saint Louis.
Speaker 7 (01:00:59):
For that's awesome.
Speaker 9 (01:01:01):
Now, I don't know if you're superstitious, but I always
ask the guests here on the radio for a score prediction,
and perhaps if you have a score in mind now
you can decline. But if you have a score prediction
in mind for the next couple of periods, ooh.
Speaker 12 (01:01:14):
I mean, wel as a goaltender, I would have never
wanted to throw out.
Speaker 25 (01:01:19):
The shutout word. But we're kind of past that now.
Speaker 12 (01:01:22):
So I'm gonna come out and say that the Badgers
are gonna come out hot here and they're gonna it's
gonna be a five to one game.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
Okay, I like it. Any goal scorer you have in mind,
I mean.
Speaker 12 (01:01:32):
I gotta throw my girl KK and yeah, I think
so she's gonna get like she's gonna have rip one
from the point, and it's gonna be great.
Speaker 9 (01:01:39):
Perhaps if it's a close game and the Badgers have
like a two one, we could see Ava mcnah on
an empty net.
Speaker 25 (01:01:43):
I mean, can you imagine.
Speaker 7 (01:01:45):
I mean, that would be unbelievable.
Speaker 25 (01:01:47):
I mean I could never.
Speaker 9 (01:01:49):
A couple of years ago, Jane Gervey had a chance
and then decided to just play it into the corner,
and we're like, you gotta shoot it.
Speaker 12 (01:01:55):
You gotta shoot it, all right, I'm gonna I'm gonna
manifest that that eva gets a little empty nutter here.
Speaker 7 (01:01:59):
Let's do it.
Speaker 9 (01:02:00):
We'll see what happens. Well, thank you very much for joining.
I appreciate that very much. All right, we're going to
take a quick break.
Speaker 7 (01:02:04):
When we come back.
Speaker 9 (01:02:05):
The conclusion of the intermission report presented by Fields Madison.

One call, that's all injured. Remember one call, that's all, and.
Speaker 6 (01:04:12):
We're back at Lebond Arena. We're after twenty minutes of play.
It's Saint Thomas College the Tommy's in the Twin Cities,
leading the Wisconsin Badgers by a score of one to nothing.
Their goal of the game came at thirteen forty nine
at the period, scored by Madison Brown, and for her
it was goal number three in the year, a power
(01:04:33):
play goal. Badgers will open up the second period. Cassie Hall,
Gorbatanco and Eden will be out. Back. Defensively, it'll be
Harvey and Edwards. Yeah, both teams began the period at
full strength. For Saint Thomas, it'll be Horton, Bart's and
Boren and back. Defensively, it'll be Gadzick and Gadzick Manati
(01:05:00):
in goal against s Davia McNaughton and we're under way
and McNaughton will go back give it to Harvey. Harvey
goes behind the net around of the far side over
to Laila Edwards on the play towards neutral ice. Badgers
in this period going from our left to our right
and Gorbatanco over to pick it up and Cassie Hall
(01:05:21):
comes out. Badger's back over to Leila Edwards angled it
off the glass. Badgers turned and come out of the
zone to center ice. But it's broken up by Saint Thomas.
But Eaton plays it in over the line over to Gorbatanco,
back over to Eden, passed behind her.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Badgers go back.
Speaker 6 (01:05:40):
Let's see if they come out with a little more
intensity here in the second period. What was the thought
downstairs there, mister Greenhall.
Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
Pretty much what you just said. Play a little more aggressively.
Don't respect him as much, you know, don't give him
as much time and space. Pardon MIDI lay there. I
had to say hello to Alex rigsby Cavallinian old goaltender,
you know, forward goalie. Now forgive it.
Speaker 6 (01:06:02):
Sorry, no, no, that's great. The twenty and sixteen was honored. Yeah,
it's during the first intermission here. It looked like there
was about eight or ten of the players over there.
Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
Yeah, yeah, it's pretty neat and around to the far side,
over to try and pick it up.
Speaker 6 (01:06:18):
What's she doing now?
Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
She's raising two kids, lives in Saint Louis. Yeah, very happy,
you know. It's great, wonderful young lady, just a great
human being. And she won a title national title as
a freshman.
Speaker 6 (01:06:31):
Here for the Badgers and coming back of it to
set it up and control one of eight for Wisconsin,
leading the nation in national championships. For around of the
far side over to try and pick it up and
to play down back in the corner nearboards on the
Wisconsin side of it. Badger's on the wing, try to
hold it in the attacking zone. Here, lay it behind
(01:06:54):
it at Shapo Volleybulba out with Sims and Enwright and
it's controlled with it. That's shappy and chapel with it.
Carried it right back to where she started. She made
a big circle.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
Around the ring, a big loop, a victory.
Speaker 6 (01:07:10):
Let to check out what was going on. Sure, give
the whole wrink a look and coming over to set
it up and control Wisconsin coming back out of their
own zone and they'll play it in and it's kicked
aside by Manati. She's probably done the difference in the
game so far. Yep, there's a drive by Scannal steered
away by Manati. If there was any question on the
(01:07:32):
part of Saint Thomas who may be their goaltender, it
looks like they found that answer.
Speaker 4 (01:07:36):
Yeah, they've answered that mystery and playing.
Speaker 6 (01:07:39):
It back in the corner on the far side, back
to the point on the pass it comes around, here's
Potter with it. Drove it to wide of the goal
and Pinusio hustles over. Nice job holding it in the zone. Yeah,
but it's going to be cleared by Saint Thomas and
they'll play it all the way back down to the
Badger zone and we'll have an icing call.
Speaker 4 (01:07:57):
You know, Paul, you can see where this team played
Ohio State tough. But that game they had a game
going to overtimeers and they did. Yeah, real close contest.
I mean, they do a lot of things correctly. Their
skaters aren't bad, and their goaltenders real solid.
Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
Well, there's a tremendous amount of people that play hockey
in the state of Minnesota. There are a few of them,
a lot of girls up there that get an opportunity
to play college hockey.
Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
Yeah, you're absolutely correct.
Speaker 6 (01:08:24):
You've got Duluth Saint Cloud with a program Minnesota State
man Cato, the Tommy's, the Gophers around on the far
side over to pick it up, and a lot of
those people at grow up in Minnesota don't mind playing
right in Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
Yeah, Tommy's have really made a commitment, you know, with
that brand new rink and everything. That's where they're going
to host the w c h A final.
Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
Yeah five, you know, face off coming up to the
right side of Manati and it's going to be played
up ice and it's going to be dumped all the
way back down in the corner. Badger's chase it back
down over to set it up along on the wing
on the near side, trying to control it, goes back
in behind the net of the Badgers. Whoa and Abe
(01:09:08):
McNaughton will play it around over to Whedon eating with
it and it's going to be in neutral ice and
Cassie Hall trying to pick it up. Cassie Hall trying
to work her way loose, but she was forced off
on the puck and Saint Thomas will come back up
through center ice. He'll drive it back down to the
Badger's zone. It hits off the back wall. Harvey over
(01:09:28):
on the far side, Harvey moving it up Ice, flipped
it out towards neutral, passed to Eden, went to her stick.
There's Edon cutting it off the wing. Oh, they had
somebody out shot and I don't know how, I'm not sure,
but they had a great opportunity net there up high
in the top and it's got a whistle and we're
(01:09:51):
gonna have a penalty coming up here. The interference is
going to be the call.
Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Well, hopefully we can take advantage of a power play.
Speaker 6 (01:10:00):
Here, Paul Yeap. That comes at three point forty two
the time of the period. In the second Gadzic in
the box Badgers on the power play. They are led
by KK Harvey with a total of four power play goals.
(01:10:24):
Kk's out on the ice, so is Edwards and Wisconsin
with the person advantage here over to Edwards, back of
it to KK Harvey, back of it to Edwards, still
out on top. There's KK with it now skating high
near the blue line between the dots. Back. Oh, that
pass was given right to the stick of one of
the Tommy's and it's going to be played. She played
(01:10:46):
it right to brown stick a little fuller blind this
series KK coming up that may fire her up a
little bit there. She tried to play it ahead and
they dump it back down in again Saint Thomas with
a fore check. Badgers on the power play, KK will
skate through center. Ice said, Eden collides with Chapel. Well,
(01:11:06):
this doesn't look good so far on this power play.
Chappel went down. They con glided in the neutral zone
there and coming up Ice trying to control it. Badger's
coming over the line and uh Sims with it down
on the corner on the right side, comes back on
the play over to Edwards, comes around over to KK,
Harvey out on top, over to Edwards, back of it
to KK again. She's got Chappo back door all by herself,
(01:11:29):
but she couldn't get her the buck.
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
And they'll set it up.
Speaker 6 (01:11:32):
Sims moving it in shot block round of the far side,
over the KK, Harvey back over to Edwards. Here's Edwards
moving in between the dots. Eden fanned on the drive.
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
Nice back door passed to her there from set up
by Harvey.
Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
Harvey moving it in Badgers and it tipped in and
the save is made by Manati. It just seems like
the Badgers are just a little out of sick.
Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
Yeah, yeah, there's little things happening that normally you don't see,
inches or seconds from it being a great play, but
unfortunately not connected. Borbatanco is out now and this power
play along with Cassie Hall and Scannal and at the
point it's Potter and Potter has the puck and she
(01:12:18):
drove it. Badgers set it up still with a power
play though down under thirty seconds remitting.
Speaker 6 (01:12:24):
They try to go in the slot and it's going
to be turned away and dumped by Saint Thomas. Aba
McNaughton will knock it down and cut it off, leave
it for the Badgers so they can pick it up
on the skating run here and Potter with it. Potter
on the lead over to Cassie Hall and we're down
to seven seconds remitting and Tommy's are going to kill
off the powerplay advantage of the Badgers. They're back at
(01:12:47):
full strength right now and controlling. Get Potter with a
drive around on the far side, back in behind the net,
Wisconsin shuffling back out in front with a drive. Fuck
came loose. Badger's try to hold the zone, but it
comes to the wing where it's held in by Potter
and a penalty coming up there, oh oh, and coming back.
(01:13:09):
I think the Tommies are going to wind up with
a power play here. Yeah, They're gonna get Potter here,
and the Badgers are going to be shorthanded again as
Potter will go to the penalty box at sixteen oh eight,
the time of the period.
Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
We'll see if we play this a little more aggressively
and not give them so much time and space while
they're on the power player. See how it goes. Basing
it off here to the right, Ava McNaughton in our own.
Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
End face off in the drug penalty wills around on
the far side, Harvey is out, Cassie Hall is out,
and right is out for the Badgers on the penalty
kill and right down in the corner along with Cassie
or the card pardon me yea for on the far side,
Tommies will come over to the New York side to
(01:14:00):
try and pick it up and come out of their
own zone. Thirteen twenty nine, remitting in the second period
one nothing Saint Thomas Badgers won eight to nothing last
night round on the far side and Edwards played it
on the wing and coming back over to set it
up Wisconsin trying to bring it out of the zone
(01:14:22):
on the near side, back along on the wing and
the Tommy's look to hold it in to try to
get off a drive and we're rown right in front,
tipped in on Ava mcnaughtt.
Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
Yeah, right in the crease. Glad she hung onto that
one as they had a tommy skating through there. Fortunately
no rebound.
Speaker 6 (01:14:44):
And we're down to UH one twelve, remitting on the
penalty kill.
Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
Let's see if Eton wins a draw, and she does.
Speaker 6 (01:14:55):
And going back in behind it at Wisconsin, they angled
it off the boards trying to control it. Dan coming
up byce Here comes Eaton and over the line, moving
it in back.
Speaker 4 (01:15:08):
Lacy Eaton goes to the back end or in stores
her third going on the weekend, her tenth of the
air and Wisconsin has tied the game at one one.
That was a great effort by her. She wins the
draw to start that ship comes up, gets the puck
back from I think McCarthy perhaps, and she takes it in,
(01:15:31):
goes to her backhand I believe, and stuff's one in there.
Beautiful goal by Lacey Eden.
Speaker 6 (01:15:39):
And coming back of it to set it up Dgers
with a shorthanded goal there right, Yeah, yep, coming up
Byce controlling it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
I think in her career she's nearing twenty of those.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
Look at the third handers and Wisconsin's Eden comes back
over to try and pick it up up.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Badgers try to convert, and they do.
Speaker 6 (01:16:03):
On that situation where they were shorthanded, played back down
along the boards in the corner. We're down to twenty
nine seconds fromitting on the power play for Saint Thomas,
played in behind around on the wing in the corner
over to try and set it up. At the point
they drive it toward the net in front and there's
traffic in front Ava covering it up. Whistle and play
(01:16:26):
is going to be stopped.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Big save there. They had like two or three Tommy's
right there in the blue paint. She didn't give a rebound.
So I like that.
Speaker 6 (01:16:35):
McCarthy and Venusio get assists on that goal.
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
That was great hustle on that goal. Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:16:48):
And Wisconsin ties the game with a shorthanded goal, and
maybe that'll ignite that a little bit here. Yeah, Badgers
just seemed to be off just by a bit.
Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
Yeah, I'd like, not sure what it is. They don't
look like the same team as last night. I'd like
to see a little more aggressiveness, you know, which we
did show on that shorthanded goal.
Speaker 6 (01:17:10):
Yeah, you know, coming back around over to pick it up.
Wisconsin turning coming up Ice, they'll bring it out of
the zone, coming back in over the line, down the hunter,
Potter up along with En right trying to hold the zone.
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Crowd channing one, we want more. Yeah, you're coming to life,
Paul a little bit.
Speaker 6 (01:17:29):
Yeah, it's amazing what a goal does, doesn't it a
little bit around on your side? You're right coming over
to try and set it up. Wisconsin coming out of
their own zoning goal. Here's Harvey with it. Harvey skates
in over the line, Harvey off on the pass.
Speaker 4 (01:17:43):
Beckhander. Oh it just missed that by Pekanagam. Yeah, that
was a great backhand with Chappi on the back door.
Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
And coming over trying to pick it up. Wisconsin behind,
Badgers look and set it up and Sims with it.
Kirsten Simms sit Candy with a puck all the way
out on top and it was cleared from her stick.
Badgers go back of it to set it up, cursing
with it. Now fires it out, sent her Ice on
the lead pass tried to lead Pekanhagen Schapo volley Vova
(01:18:11):
over to help out and it comes to the point
and the Tommies will turn edwards, breaks that up over
the potter back in over the line. Here's Pekanhagen off
on the play intended for Shappy Bolivova and it's turned
away by Saint Thomas. Badgers break that up and they'll
skate just outside the blue line and control it. Both
(01:18:32):
teams back at full strength coming back in over the line,
dump back down in the corner in behind that around
on the far side over to try and pick it up.
One won the score here twenty three to ten and
shots Badgers lead, but we got a tie game around
on the far side.
Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Over to set it up and control. Badgers in their
own known zone.
Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
Venusio round over the potter on the play to Eden
aiding with three goals on the weekend. Here played very
well and controlled on the point, coming over to try
and set it up, and Wisconsin comes back in their
own zone. Pressure by Saint Thomas, laid a round down
in the corner on the left side. Badger's try to
(01:19:16):
work it away there back to the point in the
pass it's controlled. How'sy with it around on the far side,
shot in traffic cleared, Gorbatanko picks it up and we'll
play it to the neutral zone. There the Tommies will
dump it back in steered away from the net. Ava
McNaughton pulling up Venusio behind the goal, starts out stick
(01:19:37):
handy with the puck, brings it out on the lead
over to Gorbatanko, who skates in over the line, off
over the hall with a drive and almost tipped in
front by Scannal down in the corner on the near boards.
Wisconsin will go back in their own zone to set
it up. Mackenzie Jones with it. She slaps it off
the boards on the right side, trying to hit Scandal
(01:19:58):
on the brake. Tommy's come back into the Wisconsin lines
and it's clear than trying to get off a drive.
Good job defensive Brown Murphy Grand Wisconsin, Scannal moving it up,
Ice coming in over the line with Picard shot tip
whide of the goal and the card dried the center it.
Mackenzie with it. A sense of urgency now on the
(01:20:19):
part of the Badgers, which are playing with more intensity
and going back over to set it up and we're
gonna take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.

sixty at Fields Vovo Car's man.
Speaker 6 (01:21:02):
Eight minutes nineteen seconds. You're manning in the second period.
We're tied at one one here at Lebon Arena. Both
teams full strength. Badgers try to hold his zone and
they'll have to skate back Harvey and the Badger's zone
to pick it up on the wing on the near
side over the Layley Edwards lay the with it backing
over the line over the Harvey cunning in off the
wing shoe and that was deflected away and down deep
(01:21:26):
in the zone in the corner. Sims try to pass
over to Harvey, went around on the far side and
Right's gonna hold the zone. On the play, they work
it down to the right wing corner Sims is there
to pick it up for Wisconsin. Sims tries to work
it away from the boards in the corner. Badger's still
on the near side. Back to Sims in the corner,
(01:21:47):
trying to skate and get loose and centered. It right
out in front of Harvey, shot blocked in traffic and
Wisconsin we'll pick it up. Edwards with it down on
the corner on the right side, coming over to control it.
Here's Edwards, Edwards with it slides it across ice, over
to Harvey, back of it to Edwards, Edwards trying to
(01:22:08):
move in and Harvey went down and Wisconsin trying to
maintain possession of the buck whistle. And action's going to
be stopped. With seven oh five.
Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
Remaining here in the second period, I think we'll go
on the power play here. Now we're going to.

Speaker 1 (01:23:32):
Welcome Back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by both park Plays'.
Speaker 6 (01:23:37):
Back with Mark green All Paul Brown. Here at Lebon
Arena where we have a one to one game with
seven oh five remitting. In the second period, Lacy Eden
scored a short handed goal or tenth goal of the
year to tie it up. Here McCarthy got an assist
and so did Venusio and Wisconsin at full strength out
(01:24:00):
of the far side, both teams at full strength, where
is Leyle Edwards on the power play though, now for
the Badgers because of that last call, power play for
Wisconsin said to get up. Here's KK Harvey. Harvey acrossed
over to Edwards with a drive and that got deflected.
Harvey chopping at him. Yep, she knocked it down round
(01:24:22):
on the far side, over to Eden. Eiden over to
set it up, back out on top, over to Harvey,
comes around over to Edwards and Wisconsin in front. Eten
with a drive right on back over to Layla. Edwards
comes around Harvey with a shot. Manati covered up well.
Speaker 4 (01:24:39):
Eaton almost had a goal there on a little rebound
in tight nice play.
Speaker 6 (01:24:45):
Badgers are going to change up. Gorba Tanko is going
to come out. Hauls out on the ice, Potter is out,
Murphy's out, and Scandal is out. Badger's with the power
play situation one twenty reminuting of the penalty time and
a chance to take the leave and they draw it
back to the point on the left side. Wisconsin in control.
It's putting Potter with it shot out front, blocked by Manatti.
(01:25:10):
She's kept him in the game, no question about it.
Shots are twenty seven to ten and turning it around
and coming back into the line. Ava Murphy with it
down in the corner. Here's Ava skating behind the net
right out in front. Oh Gorbatanco almost got a control
shot away there, insane and with it haul with the
(01:25:30):
drive and that went wide of the goal. Back of
it to Potter behind the net, work it around the
wing on the right side, coming over to pick it up,
back out on top and with it Murphy with a drive,
Scandal in front, trying to get it free in their skates.
Back of it to Potter. Potter drove it high and wide.
Scandal in front. Kelly Gorbtenko is there, Whistle and action's
(01:25:51):
going to be stopped in the crease of the tommies
of Saint Thomas.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
That was a good wide angle shot there by Scandal
and he struggled with a little bit. She hung on,
but uh, you know we had gorbatinkle right there at
the doorstep. If she juggles it well.
Speaker 6 (01:26:06):
After about a thirty second rest, the number one unit's
back out yep, KK, Harvey's out, Sim's out, Edward's out,
Eden is out. Shaffle Volley Vova is out and around
back in behind the net over to try and pick
it up Wisconsin with the power play still twenty four
seconds remained and the pass comes out of the zone.
(01:26:28):
Harvey picks it up at center ice and plays it
ahead on the pass comes over to Sims rinkwide.
Speaker 4 (01:26:34):
They go to Edwards.
Speaker 6 (01:26:36):
Edwards slides it in over the line over to Weedon,
pulling up down on the corner on the far side,
skates behind the net, comes around on the pass back
of the Sims at the point right side. Sims with
it back and shot by Eden right on boy Eaton
teed that one up.
Speaker 4 (01:26:52):
That was a one timer and coming back the other way,
moving it in Brown with a show who by McNaughton
as Brown had to break away the other way.
Speaker 6 (01:27:01):
That comes Wisconsin. Here's Laila moving Inna.
Speaker 4 (01:27:04):
Shot the goal. Lale Handwards hips the goal for the Badgers,
their fifth goal of the year and with Ton and.
Speaker 6 (01:27:14):
Lads at two to one.
Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
Wow, what a great, great goal. After a great, great
save by Avia McNaughton on the one on zero on
the other end, we come up and they make it count.
Laylah Edwards puts it away for the goal ahead goal.
Great goal Man fifteen twelve the time of the penalty
or the goal. Pardon me. That was a five on five.
Speaker 6 (01:27:37):
Goal first one of those of the night, but an
important goal for the Badgers. They've come back and taken
the lead and it's going to be dumped back off
the glass in behind. David McNatt, we're down to four
thirty five remitting and come up with that puck. Sims
and Harvey.
Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
Get assists on the goal.
Speaker 6 (01:28:00):
Kirsten Simms and Harvey pick up assists on the goal
by Leiley Edwards.
Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
And controlling it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:08):
Put card comes in over the line and it's going
to be driven back down in behind. Coming over to
try and pick it up and Peking Hoggen with it
behind the net. Maybe that generates a little more energy
here with the Badgers around out on top over to Mackenzie.
Mackenzie with the drive played back down in the corner
over to try and control it on the wing back
(01:28:30):
in behind. It's Peking Hogen, Peking Hoggen with a puck
down in the corner back to the point on the play,
Venusio cross ice over to Jones. Here's Jones moving it
between the dots over to Venusio. That drive is deflected
off the body and the race is on moving it
up Ice coming in over the line, whistle and play
(01:28:50):
is going to be stopped. KK Harvey with that assist
that is number twenty of the year for KK Harvey
and Kirsten Simms picking up an assist for her that
is number fifteen of the year.
Speaker 4 (01:29:07):
Well, that was good to see, real good to see.
And Wisconsin around on the far side over the control.
Speaker 6 (01:29:14):
We're down to three twenty nine remaining here in the
second period and with it as Ava Murphy on the
fore check. It's Bart's trying to take it away from her.
Ship it up and out and they back handing it
to Gown in the corner and chasing it as chapel
Vali Vova laid it behind the net, coming around and
coming up by Saint Thomas with it in front of
(01:29:35):
the badger bench cent her Ice. Wisconsin, we'll turn it back.
They come in over the line, Kirsten Simms off over.
Speaker 4 (01:29:42):
Shot by end right and the follow the big seafe.
Speaker 6 (01:29:45):
Yes, it was a great save there. Manat he's done
a nice job in gold for Saint Thomas. Around deep
in the zone in the corner on the near side.
They come over to try and control that Kirsten Simms
had a cleared from her stick, tries and does hold
it in Badger's work it around. Here's Potter with the
offer states on the pass back in behind the net.
(01:30:07):
Then Manati will cover there with two thirty five remaining
in the period.
Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Yeah, she wisely covered that up as Gorbatinkle was racing
to the net pretty hard there. Something was loose. She'd
have been on it, so we got haul taking the.
Speaker 6 (01:30:25):
Draw here I think Cassie Hall out of South Lynn, Michigan,
right hander a junior and it's plays at back Badgers
hold it in over to Murphy and it comes around
over to KK Harvey with a shot almost tipped.
Speaker 4 (01:30:43):
Badger's down in the corner.
Speaker 6 (01:30:47):
Trying to get it off on the wing in Wisconsin's
Gorbatanco down in the corner back in behind over to Wheden.
Aiden played it right out in front. Boy, the Tommies
are collapsing and yet protect their goaltender. They are really deep.
There's a traffic jam there in front of the that
real forest and coming back over to set it up,
Garbatanco controlling it back down in behind the net. Aiden
(01:31:11):
over to try and pick it up along the back
wall in the Badger zone down to one fifty two,
remitting in the period two to one, Wisconsin moving to
the net, Gorbatanco in front, trying to get off a
back in her back over to Harvey with a drive
and on her back is Manighan and she's got the puck.
Speaker 4 (01:31:31):
Yeah, she made a save. She was all the way
prone on her back, but she kept her eyes and
head on the puck was able to make the save
on a shot from the right point or just above
the right circle.
Speaker 6 (01:31:42):
Leila Edwards led the country in goal scoring last year
with thirty five goals when she was a forward. Now
she's back defensively and she's got five goals on the ear.
What am I missing in that picture?
Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
Now? I understand, I.
Speaker 6 (01:31:59):
Understand, and I believe.
Speaker 11 (01:32:01):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:32:02):
They want her as a defenseman on the Olympic team, right, yeah,
but I you can't help but go, hey, where is
she more productive?
Speaker 24 (01:32:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:32:11):
Come to the Badgers, you know, coming over to try
and pick it up. I wouldn't put any money on
the fact that she might not be when they get back.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
From deal with right and whistle and play is going
to be stopped. I would agree with you.
Speaker 6 (01:32:23):
Paul one fifteen remaining here in the second period.
Speaker 4 (01:32:31):
Yeah, they're going to face it off to the right
Eva here one fifteen to goal. We got us that
Picard in the circle or who do we got here?
Speaker 6 (01:32:40):
That's Percard, Yeah, and Pricard did try to win the
drop and uh, traffic in front of the net. Wisconsin
will clear it out. They slide it down. Chase is
on and trying to skate it down a scandal, but
the Tommies get there first, and we'll have a stop at.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
Your play boy this period is zipped right along. Huh
yep one O three rank goodness.
Speaker 6 (01:33:07):
And bring it all the way back down on the
zone and we'll have another face off.
Speaker 4 (01:33:11):
Coming up here. Yeah, to the right of Eve again.
Speaker 6 (01:33:14):
So it's the Saint Thomas had won to nothing lead
on a power play golden in the first period, and
here in the second period the Badgers have put up
two and got that lead back coming around over to
control it and bring it out of the zone, coming
through center ice over to set it up. Badgers back
down in behind their own zone, try to control it
(01:33:37):
and the play comes back along the wing over to
try and set that up and out towards center ice.
It's controlled and the puck is loose there back of
it has set it up and Wisconsin will go back
over trying to control it. Backers have in front right there, Yew.
Speaker 4 (01:33:56):
Murphy really battled to keep it in and we were
able to get a shot on net as a result.
Speaker 6 (01:34:02):
Thirty four shots on goal so far through two periods.
Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:34:07):
Manati has been busy, Yane, good. Yeah, she she showed
some goaltending ability tonight, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (01:34:18):
Let's see Saint Thomas with the edge in the face
off so far twenty four one in this game, a
round over to Edwards. Edwards with a drive and that
deflected in front of the goal, trickled around to the
far side. Badgers look to hold it in. Little given
go there. Schapo tried to work in front of the
net and it's going to be played up ice. Badgers
(01:34:41):
come back to cover Harvey with it back handing get
on the play over the layla Edwards. They give it
off on the play over to Eden Aiden with a
backhander and a cover up by Manati and that's the
end of the second period of player.
Speaker 4 (01:34:55):
Well, I'll tell you, Paul, I'm glad we were able
to tie it up with a shorthander by Eden there
and then they take the lead on a goal later
by Edwards. Thou boy, we're in a game tonight. That's
for sure, all right, my friend, we'll be back after
this time out.

Brown had to break away the other way. That comes Wisconsin.

The Badgers had quite a scare in the first period.
They were down after giving up a power play goal
early on in the first period, they answered back with
(01:38:35):
a couple goals here in the second period and have
taken the lead. They're dominating on shots thirty five shots
on goal to twelve for the Tommies, who are looking
much better in tonight's game than they did last night.
They're almost at their total from last night only through
two periods, and of course they have the one goal
to their name already, ending Ava mcnatton's shutout bitch. He
was looking for back to back shutouts, but it was uh.
Speaker 7 (01:38:59):
Not to be done.
Speaker 9 (01:39:00):
In the first period, of course, with that early goal
and things started to seem like it was gonna be disastrous.
In the second period, the Badgers had not a great
look in power play to start things off. They weren't
able to convert, of course, and then right after that,
Potter gets called for a cross check in my opinion,
and I'm not an expert, and Paul L. Lucas and
I joked about it a couple weeks ago in New
(01:39:20):
York about how we're not the experts, but we still
have our opinions. I didn't think that was a cross check.
It looked like Lady Potter was just bracing herself to
try and limit the connection between her and I forget
which Tommy it was, but anyway, she got called for
the cross check and they Tommy's go back on the
power play. Anyway, Venusio clears the zone, it comes to
(01:39:41):
McCarthy at center ice. He just taps it along for
Lacey Eden. She gets on the breakaway and she scores
the tying goal. And then a breakaway happened for the
same time as Tommy's later on, and on the counter attack,
the Badgers scored again. It was Leila Edwards who didn't score.
She wasn't one of the eight goals in last night's game.
She was able to score and take the lead for
the Badgers. Now we are live on the air if
(01:40:02):
you want to grab a headset joining me now Sharon
cole Faust, the captain of the two thousand and six
championship team.
Speaker 7 (01:40:08):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 4 (01:40:08):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (01:40:09):
I can, all right, we can hear you. How are
you good?
Speaker 26 (01:40:12):
Good?
Speaker 9 (01:40:12):
I made it nice to meet you and it's fantastic
to have you back here in Madison. What's it been
like for you to be back in some familiar places
alongside some familiar people as well.
Speaker 26 (01:40:23):
It's always fun. It's always a blast. You know, when
you play Wisconsin hockey, you have lifelong friends and if
you haven't seen them in ten years, it doesn't matter.
It's all the same and you rehash the same stories
and it's always it's always fun.
Speaker 9 (01:40:40):
Now we know the Badgers have won many national championships.
Of course we can see we're running out of a
room here at the Bond with the banners. They're gonna
have to create some more space, hopefully in the next
few years. But we look at that first one two
thousand and six, obviously setting the standard for this women's
hockey program. I mean, I'm sure you have so many
great memories from that team. Talk to me a little
bit about that winning that national championship.
Speaker 26 (01:41:03):
Well, it was the first time we won a national championship.
We had not done it before, and actually that was
I believe our first time at a frozen four all together.
But the team didn't have you know, we didn't gel
the whole season, and I think that's a special thing
about it is we had to find our way for
that two thousand and six season, and we really ended
(01:41:24):
on a high note, winning all of the trophies, including
the Patty Kaz with Sarah Bauer and really breaking it
open for the rest of the organization. But that was
my senior year, and really those four years was a
culmination to that. We were gradually getting better and better
and it was just the best And.
Speaker 7 (01:41:45):
Of course you being the captain of that team.
Speaker 9 (01:41:48):
Did that add anything else to it being the captain
or was it all just you guys as a unit
trying to win that national championship?
Speaker 26 (01:41:55):
I think us as a unit, I think overall, whether
you're a captain or not cap and you're you're learning
valuable leadership lessons throughout your time at Wisconsin and you
take those on the rest of your life. Now, being
captain was green. It's always awesome to hoist that trophy,
but it would have been nothing without the rest of
(01:42:17):
those those teammates. So it really is a holistic team effort.
Speaker 8 (01:42:21):
It was.
Speaker 26 (01:42:21):
It was so special.
Speaker 7 (01:42:22):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:42:23):
I assume you've had a chance to talk to Mark
Johnson since you've been back here tonight.
Speaker 7 (01:42:27):
Or have you not?
Speaker 24 (01:42:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 26 (01:42:28):
Yeah, just saw him after the first intermission and he
thanked us for coming out. And I see him regularly
living in Madison and there's always this special bond with
every with every player and teammate I think with him
and I think everybody is just so grateful for what
he's done for the women's game, and especially the women's
(01:42:49):
game at Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (01:42:51):
Yeah, and talk to me about what it was like
to play under him as well at Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (01:42:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:42:57):
Mark.
Speaker 26 (01:42:58):
Mark is an intellectual coach. I'll say he's he's not
gonna be the one that's screaming at you, except for
a few times. He did a few times, and those
are very memorable. But he teaches you the game and
in a way that that consistently makes you better every practice,
and I think that's so valuable to all the players
(01:43:18):
that come through and then all the recruits that come in.
It's it's so fun to be out there and every practice,
even as I'm as I'm now coaching young young little kids,
every practice we were moving, we were constantly skating, and
I think you see it on the ice with it,
just the speed and the pace of the game.
Speaker 9 (01:43:37):
And talk to me about the kids that you're coaching now,
hopefully some future Badgers may be in the making, And
what's that been like.
Speaker 26 (01:43:44):
It's fun, Actually, I think it's a little to me,
it's a little emotional and that sounds a little cheesy,
but when we were growing up, some of some of
the first individuals in this program, when we were growing up,
we really did have to fight to play. It was
a it was a boys only game, and we were
grateful enough for our parents to say, we support you
(01:44:05):
in playing this game even though only boys are playing.
And so now to be able to foster your all
girls teams and girls coming through and seeing girls are
playing on the ice that they really didn't have to
or maybe their their challenges were different in that way
is so fantastic, And just to continue to foster those
girls in the sport.
Speaker 9 (01:44:26):
Yeah, and we see a lot of you know, youth
hockey teams come and watch these Badgers play, and after
the games, some of the Badgers are getting autographs from
those little girls. I mean, who were some of the
women's hockey players that you grew up watching and looking
up to? Like you said, it wasn't as popular when
you were growing up, but who were some of those players.
Speaker 7 (01:44:44):
Not to put you on the spot there, I'm like thinking.
Speaker 26 (01:44:46):
About it, I'm like, I don't really have any air.
Maybe Cammy Granado was it back in the day, But
actually there were not really. That wasn't even until we
were in high school or you know, when we were
little kids. It was generally like you were out on
the pond and you had you know, you saw boys
out there and you were like, I want to do that,
(01:45:07):
regardless of if I'm a boy or girl. Yeah, and
so I think we got female role models as we
grew up, but generally it was a love for the sport,
regardless of if you're a male or female.
Speaker 9 (01:45:21):
And how does it make you feel knowing that some
of these players on this team, maybe some from Wisconsin,
but even college players from Wisconsin that don't play for
the Badgers grew up idolizing you, for example, how does
that make you feel?
Speaker 7 (01:45:32):
Well?
Speaker 26 (01:45:32):
I will tell you. We used to have stick kits
all the time. I remember Bailey Wellhausen was one of
our stick kids, probably in two thousand and six, and
it wasn't long until she was on the Badgers herself,
and that was just I don't know how that set
of emotions was, whether we felt old or not, but
(01:45:55):
it is. It is great and to continue to see
some of those older Badgers still make a huge impact,
whether it's at the p w h L with with
Brianna Decker now you know, coaching there, and I know
I'll be alumni across the board, just.
Speaker 25 (01:46:10):
Making a detents at this one.
Speaker 7 (01:46:12):
So you're being living in Madison, now, do you are
you able to come to a lot of these games
or Yeah?
Speaker 26 (01:46:18):
I am. I that as many as i'd like because
I'm because I'm busy.
Speaker 12 (01:46:26):
You know.
Speaker 26 (01:46:27):
Also, I'll tell you this, it's a hard ticket to
get them. And and I was just saying, I'm like,
oh my gosh, I think they're gonna have to have
a signed seating in this stadium because you know, I'm
trying to find three seats together and it's packed. So
that's also been very interesting to see it go from
we really just had our parents in the stands, maybe
(01:46:49):
a couple of friends and and you know, a very
empty Coal Center when we were playing to to really
a packed house, sold out game every single game. That
in and of itself is awesome.
Speaker 17 (01:47:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:47:03):
I mean when I came here for my first game
as a student, it was of course already packed because
there had been some banners already hung up. If I
didn't have this credential, I'm not sure I'd be able
to get a ticket either. I mean, it really is
a hard to take it.
Speaker 26 (01:47:14):
There was a line out for an hour before the game.
There was a line ticket seats. I turned to my
husband and I'm like, I cannot believe this, Like are
we seeing this right now? And you know someone outside, Yeah,
Women's volleyball, same way, And so, I mean, I get
chills just thinking about that. The transformation of the women's
(01:47:38):
sports in general over the last decade two decades has
been so incredible.
Speaker 9 (01:47:44):
And you'll be back on the ice tomorrow for the skate.
Are you going to be at that family skate?
Speaker 26 (01:47:48):
Yeah? You know, I got to bring my kids. Yeah,
because anytime you get your children and say like, look,
you know I was a Badger, once a Badger, always
a Badger, and other teammates have their kids out on
the ice, it becomes it becomes a whole different ballgame
because now you're talking about the next generation and sharing
that with your children.
Speaker 25 (01:48:09):
It's it's really special.
Speaker 7 (01:48:10):
Yeah, it really is a family, isn't it. The Badger
hockey community it is.
Speaker 26 (01:48:14):
And I'll tell you, you know, my husband was injured
severally three years ago, and I will tell you that
the Badger women's hockey players stepped up so strong, and
they still step up for each other regardless of what's
going on in life, and that special bod just does
it go in.
Speaker 7 (01:48:34):
So I'm blessed, greatful.
Speaker 9 (01:48:37):
It's the best family in all of not even college sports,
but just that you could ask for. Yeah, So my
last question, now, I asked Alex this in the first intermission.
I said, if you're superstitious, you don't have to answer.
But a score prediction, exactly right? Do you have a
score prediction? We ended up saying Ava mcnotton gets the
goalie goal in the end, so it's gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:48:57):
Be hard to beat that. But what are you thinking.
Speaker 26 (01:48:58):
That's a tough one.
Speaker 7 (01:49:01):
I may have egged her on on that one, but
you know, this.
Speaker 26 (01:49:04):
Is a fast team and I'm gonna say five to one.
That's gonna be my my score.
Speaker 4 (01:49:11):
Now.
Speaker 26 (01:49:11):
I was here yesterday for the eight to nothing game,
and every time I watch, I'm like, I couldn't make
the team now. They're so fast, but you know it's
it's a closer game today, but they're still so talented.
Speaker 7 (01:49:27):
They absolutely are, and it's some of the best hocke
I've ever seen.
Speaker 9 (01:49:30):
Caroline Harvey is like, I mean, she's one of the
best players I've ever laid my eyes on.
Speaker 7 (01:49:33):
It's absolutely incredible.
Speaker 26 (01:49:34):
I mean, she had an incredible move behind me earlier
in the game, and I'm just like, get out of here.
That is that's incredible and it's fun to watch. And actually,
I think the thing I love the most, regardless of
the score, is there's nothing better than the environment, the
family friendly environment, and.
Speaker 7 (01:49:49):
The atmosphere in this in this absolutely well, thank you
very much for joining me.
Speaker 9 (01:49:54):
I appreciate it very much. It's great to have you back.
It's great to honor the two thousand and six national.
Speaker 25 (01:49:59):

One call, that's all injured. Remember one call, that's all.
Speaker 6 (01:52:11):
We're in the third period, just underway here at Lebon Arena.
The Badgers leading by a score of two to one,
played back down in the corner. Aba McNaughton cutting it off.
Badgers come out of their own zone, working it up
the wing on the near side and coming in over
the line Shapo volley Bova was taken down. Do we
get a penalty? No, we don't, yes or no.
Speaker 11 (01:52:35):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:52:35):
Arms are up and it's going to be played back
down in the Wisconsin zone. Badgers will go back to
pick it up. Aba McNaughton behind the goal, will start
out on the near side. She carries it through centuries, controls.
The puck comes in over the line, kind of angled
it off in on Manati and she casually put it
(01:52:55):
away in the glove.
Speaker 4 (01:52:56):
Murphy did a nice job there. Locker room talk was
what down there? Well, basically, hey managed to puck f three,
stay high, play on our toes, and compete. That's the
recipe for success here.
Speaker 6 (01:53:11):
Mark likes that term. Doesn't he play on your toe?
He loves him. Yeah, you're right, they did it the
first period last night. I wouldn't say they played on
their toes yet in this.
Speaker 4 (01:53:20):
Game with not a whole lot. Maybe on the penalty
kill right when Eden scored that goal to tie it.
That was some aggressive play.
Speaker 6 (01:53:29):
Of course, the Tommy's may have something to say about
and have done to keep the Badgers from playing on
their toes, right.
Speaker 4 (01:53:37):
Hey, another example of our tight conference, manketo. Minnesota State
beat Minnesota tonight three to one.
Speaker 6 (01:53:45):
Around on the far side, over to trying to control it.
The Buckeyes are continuing to in, aren't they.
Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
I think so?
Speaker 6 (01:53:52):
Yeah, we're tied with the Badgers coming into this weekend.
Around on the far side and in control of it.
The new CEO with it or on the wing on
the near boards. They'll work it up Ice and the
play goes up over and out of the rink. Flipped
it up over the glass.
Speaker 4 (01:54:11):
Ohio State having a good year coming into this weekend,
tied with the Badgers for the top spot.
Speaker 6 (01:54:20):
Still think it'll boil down to the same three, don't
you man?
Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
It's looking that way. But I really haven't seen any
hockey yuse yet, so I don't know, you know, I
don't to speak out of turn what Clarkson's up to
this year, that kind of thing.
Speaker 6 (01:54:32):
But certainly Minnesota, Ohio State and was solid contenders. Yeah,
around down to the corner on the far side, over
trying to control it back over to Eden, Aiden around
the league the Badgers.
Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
They'll be off next weekend.
Speaker 6 (01:54:47):
They've got an invitational tournament down in Nashville, Tennessee. Comes
back into the line, KK Harvey with it, tried to
center it off over to Eden. Comes back on the
play over the hall, back out on top, over to Harvey,
Harvey moving it in back over to Laila. Shot it
off the glass and it's chipped away from the stick
of Harvey. Moved back up Ice controlling it cooland Camp
(01:55:10):
and the play back in the Wisconsin zone, Eiden back
over to set it up and Wisconsin looking up, they
come out of the zone controlling it. It's a two
to one game that it's going to be flipped back
down on the corner on the far side.
Speaker 4 (01:55:26):
And coming over to try and pick it up.
Speaker 6 (01:55:29):
And in the neutral zone it's going to be chipped
down on the corner on the far side, back over
and controlling it. Mackenzie Jones Greeney, I can't help but
think my old broadcast partner on the men's side. You
know what he'd say right now, the next goal's a big.
Speaker 4 (01:55:46):
One, PV Yeah, coach Howard, Yeah yeah, the next goal
is a big one. I can just hear him do it,
and he was usually right, yeah, you know, the next
goal is a big one. Yeah, yeah, Howe sixteen oh
seven remaining here, face off, coming up, back down on
(01:56:08):
the zone of Wisconsin. But if we're going to steal
that freeze from Howie, this might be the right time,
you know, kind of why I was thinking about it
in a way.
Speaker 6 (01:56:17):
Actually, I hear you down back down on the corner.
Badgers go back over to set it up, and they'll
come out of the zone with it on the far
side and it's going to be played back over to Venusio.
Venusio is tied up and jammed along the back wall.
Saint Thomas holds his zone with pressure. They come back
over to Maxwell, who drove it off the back wall.
(01:56:40):
Sims is out on the forward line, Venusio is out,
Shappy Vollevova is out, and Right is out on the ice,
held in and controlled by Parker. Parker is out with
Lindsey and Rice for Saint Thomas. They look to try
to go back door on the pass intended for Maxwell,
but the Badgers we'll clear it up.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
Ice and Kirsten Simms comes to the line.
Speaker 6 (01:57:04):
Badger's pull up and then dump it down on the
attack zone and chasing it down in the corner as
Parker Parker around the boards in the pass over to Maxwell.
Badger's Scandal on the far side, trying to work it
off the boards near the wall. Harvey with it back
of it to Scannel, and Scandal with a puck slides
it back of it to Harvey out on top, who
(01:57:26):
flipped it around on the near side over the Potter
shot it off the wall around on the far side.
Speaker 4 (01:57:32):
Harvey looked on the wing and tried.
Speaker 6 (01:57:34):
To hold it in, but the Tommys will plit and
they light the puck back in the zone of and
we'll have the face off coming up back in the
Tommy zone to our left.
Speaker 4 (01:57:43):
There were about three situations there on ed shift where
Harvey had no time or space and she was able
to keep it in the zone the whole time, you know,
and just went from one side of the rink to
the other if there was a loose puck and beat
everybody there.
Speaker 6 (01:57:57):
She's pretty amazing to watch, Yeah, And now you think
you've seen it all, and then in the next game
you see something else right around on the far side,
and play coming over trying to pick it up and
on the boards on the near wing, around to the
far side control to get his mom mom trying to
bring it out of the zone, played ahead by Horton
(01:58:19):
and then dump backed in by Wisconsin Badger's on the wing.
Harvey comes deep in the zone, got help the card
who fanned on the shot, and back comes Saint Thomas
moving it up ice. They try to get a break,
moving it in backhander and a goal.
Speaker 4 (01:58:36):
They've scored that their second goal of the game and
tied it on Berger's goal on a breakaway, the fifth
goal of the year for Berger, and we're tied at too.
Leila Edwards was on the near side and she was
taking the puck carrier. She pointed for Picard to pick
up the wide side and she wasn't able to get
(01:58:56):
over there in time. Tommy passed it across the slot,
person got it by the gold mouth and wrapped around
and in there, son of a gun. Let's see what
we can do here.
Speaker 6 (01:59:15):
Cooland Camp officially got the goal. I miscalled it on
that one. They were both there. I wasn't sure, and
cooland Camp did score the goal. Cooland Camp got the goal,
and Berger got the assists on the goal. So it's
now a two to two game here around on the
(01:59:36):
far side controlling it. That's quieted the crowd again a
little bit, and we're down to thirteen forty one remaining
in the period. Coming up, ice going to be played
back down to the corner, trying to control it and
play along the boards on the near wall around on
the far side over trying to pick it up, and
it's going to be Wisconsin skating back trying to control
(01:59:58):
it along the hoards and Wisconsin in their own zone
picking it up. Here, Zeden comes in over the line
and the play over the potter, but an off side
is going to be called. So the assist went to
Berger on that one. That's what it's showing on the
board here. Yeah, you got to make up for that
(02:00:20):
one here. Fourth goal of the year for Cooling Camp
and for Burger who got the goal for the assist.
Pardon me, number fourteen of the year. He's having a
good season. Yep, face off coming up now, just at
the blue line of Saint Thomas number one line out
(02:00:43):
for the Badgers. Venusio paired with KK Harvey defensively trying
to work some combinations, maybe get something going.
Speaker 4 (02:00:55):
Huh.
Speaker 6 (02:00:56):
We're on on the far side, moving it in shap
over the drive and that's blocked and it's going to
be turned away and Wisconsin goes back to cover Binucio
round and Wisconsin will turn and come out of their
own zone.
Speaker 4 (02:01:11):
They'll work it up.
Speaker 6 (02:01:12):
Ice go to be played back down in the corner
and over trying to pick it up, and it's going
to be played back down on the far boards and
chasing it back and Harvey will go back, but it's
going to be an icing call thirty five to thirteen
in shots in the game.
Speaker 4 (02:01:29):
Yeah, we got to get another goal here to if
nothing else, to bring the crowd back to life. Pretty
quiet in here. So they're going to face it off
to the right of Manati, the goaltender for the tomm East.
Speaker 6 (02:01:43):
Pacard is in the face off circle for Wisconsin. Yeah,
and Picard. They try to draw it forward in new way,
went through the crease a little bit back over the
Picard Leyley Edwards can't handle the pass and she's got
to go to pick it up. Laila coming up Ice
controlling it coming out of the neutral zone, brings it
(02:02:05):
back in over the line, skating with the puck and
she'll play it around, pulls up on the far side.
Badgers in front, Scannal cooking at it. Ice plate and
per Card was there, but they turn it away and
the Badgers come back and control it along the board's
near side and trying to skate it down over to
try and pick it up, and McCarthy throws a check
(02:02:27):
and they're gonna call her for a penalty.
Speaker 4 (02:02:30):
Oh, that one looked like a cheap call. Yeah, they
kind of both went down as they got to the
wall and I don't know. We handed two minutes to
McCarthy here hooking the call. Okay, she was hustling hard,
aggressive ford check. They both were on the end wall.
They both went down and McCarthy will go to the
box for two tripping. You said, yep, yeah, eight o
(02:02:57):
three the time of the penalty. Well, let's get another shorty, Paul.
What do you say that'll work? Oh man? That is
the fifth penalty tonight on the Badgers, or is it
the fourth? It's the fourth four penalties on Wisconsin tonight.
They normally don't take a lot of penalties at all,
stay out of the box typically.
Speaker 6 (02:03:15):
And but we got a two to two game here
with eleven forty seven or remaining, and they do have
a shorthanded goal and Eden forces them out of the
zone on the play.
Speaker 4 (02:03:25):
Great aggressive play there by. Eden gave her no time
in space to work for that puck and force her
to cough it out of the zone.
Speaker 6 (02:03:35):
She's going to try and win the face off for
the Badgers as well. Yeah, and the draw went forward.
Saint Thomas controls at center ice. They play it in
over the Wisconsin line. Born played it there, comes back
out to Neutrals set up by Gadzick. Gadzick on the
play over the barts. Barts comes in over the line.
(02:03:56):
Tried to center it. Oh, that one hit inside post
pad saved on that boy. They have played in tight
and forced the Badgers. They've got two three people right
around the crease.
Speaker 4 (02:04:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:04:08):
They move it in, trying to control it and on
the wing on the near side and Saint Thomas looking
to hold the zone. Badgers try to bring it out
down to a one to ten remaining in the penalty
time to Wisconsin in a two to two game, and
Saint Thomas tries to work it around over the barks,
a little give and go and they give it back
(02:04:29):
quickly on a pass that back end or is taken.
It's going to be cleared out and Wisconsin drives it
down the length of the height.
Speaker 4 (02:04:36):
Nice play by Venusio blocks the shot and then clears it,
sending it the length.
Speaker 6 (02:04:40):
Of the rink and Wisconsin goes back and they try
to fore check and hold it in the zone. Saint
Thomas with it, We'll work it out of their own zone.
They come on the wing on the near side, comes
over to Brown. Brown will play it back down in
behind Badgers go back, Leyley Edwards turn try to bring
it out of the zone and it's going to be
(02:05:01):
set up on the corner on the far side. Saint
Thomas right out in front and Leyla Edwards turns and
drives it out of the zone. We're nearing the halfway
mark of the third period, fourteen seconds remitting in a
penalty time in a two to two game. Saint Thomas
threw neutral ice. They'll drive it down in whoa and
(02:05:22):
Ava McNaughten hit the sod of the cage. They're almost
lost their balance and we're back at full strength as
McCarthy comes out onto the ice and play is going
to be stopped, and we'll have a stoppage of play
with nine fifty two remaining and we're gonna take a break.
I think the doors have been open maybe not no,
(02:05:43):
not quite they got them open down there. Thought yep,
they're gonna take it okay, And this is Wisconsin Badger

This is Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented my Oak Park Place.
Speaker 6 (02:07:09):
We'll have the face off coming up back in the
zone of Wisconsin. It's two to two here shots are
thirty five fifteen, but we got a tie game. Thomas
Saint Thomas College gins the draw. They'll set it up
just inside the blue line. Both teams are back at fullster.
Badger's back down in the corner and they'll try to
(02:07:30):
control it. They go behind the net and circling around
over to pick it up. Aba Murphy with it able
coming up Ice controlling it comes through Neutral, comes in
over the line and it's going to be dumped down
in the corner.
Speaker 4 (02:07:43):
Peekin' Hoggin.
Speaker 6 (02:07:45):
Tried to work it loose, and it's going to come
all the way back over to Laney Potter. Potter setting
it up, slides it around of the brake, over the
wave of Murphy and Kirsten Simms and where Badgers are
going to go on the power play. They trip up
Kirsten Simms and it's going to be Wisconsin controlling. The
puck comes in over the line and we're gonna have
(02:08:07):
a power play for the Badgers, though it's Kirsten Simms
got tripped.
Speaker 4 (02:08:11):
Yeah, she's handling the puck and got tripped air right
by the top of the circle in her defensive zone.
Speaker 6 (02:08:19):
Let's send on for the time ten fifty four at
the time of the penalty. Third penalty on Saint Thomas
and Bart's in the box. Let's see if the Badgers
can get a power play here. They've got a five
on five goal and a shorthander. Their power play was
(02:08:40):
very effective. Hit a little bit of a rot here
in terms of scoring played. Chappo was out the Harvey's
out on the ice and moving it around, comes over
to Edwards. They slided low on the left side, back
out on top Harvey with a shot right on and
the save is made.
Speaker 4 (02:08:59):
I like that, Shap he was right in front of
the goal. Harvey. Lets that go from the point straight away.
Speaker 6 (02:09:07):
Eating and Chapo were talking strategy.
Speaker 4 (02:09:09):
I bet they're trying to take the goalie's eyes away.
Speaker 6 (02:09:12):
Coming around the face off Ruddy for the far boards.
Badgers try to hold it in. Eden will work the
wall and it gets past Harvey at the point and
the Badger's got to skate back and set it up
Edwards and Harvey at the points and it comes back
into the line and Edward's with it back of the Harvey.
Speaker 4 (02:09:31):
They work the wing over the sims back door to Eden.
Speaker 6 (02:09:34):
Boy. They try to set them out it Eating on
the wrap around Chapo's in front of the net. They
come around over the Sims, hursting down in the corner
over to Chapel Vallagoba and it's eating with a drive
rebound aiding over another rebound shot comes back over to
Leilea Edwards. Leila controls the puck back out on top
over the Sims, Sims on the far boards.
Speaker 4 (02:09:56):
Toad drag shot block back Hell.
Speaker 6 (02:10:01):
And coming over to try and control it. Here Sims
with it on the boards on the far side, back
over to Harvey. Harvey, looking to set it up, comes
around over the Headwards, laying over the shot to colect
it away.
Speaker 4 (02:10:13):
Yeah, and the goalie's hurting. I think she's slow to
get up here. She stayed down a while after she
made a sieve on the tip that Eden had on
the shot from.
Speaker 6 (02:10:29):
I think it was Harvey or Harvey. The crowd coming
alive a little bit. Scandaling is out. Gore Batanko and
Haul is out. Potter and Murphy are back at the
points face off. The draw comes to the left point
over the aber. Murphy or run over the Potter with
a shot into the glove of Manati and very casually
(02:10:50):
putting that one away.
Speaker 4 (02:10:51):
Yeah, nice hard shot from Potter there at the right point.
Speaker 6 (02:10:56):
They'll put the face off this time to the left
side of Manati, the goaltender for Saint Thomas, and the
play along the boards and Saint Thomas in front moving
around or a Botanko was taught up and could not
get off the shot held in by Murphy. Murphy around
over the Scandal down to the corner on the left wing,
and Scandal with it turns and comes back out on
(02:11:19):
top over to Murphy around on the pass.
Speaker 4 (02:11:22):
It's controlled and the shut up. Ow did that?
Speaker 26 (02:11:24):
No end?
Speaker 6 (02:11:25):
I thought, no goal, that looked like it went in.
Speaker 4 (02:11:28):
Oh I know, I thought, oh smoke. I wonder if
they'll do a review of that.
Speaker 6 (02:11:33):
And coming back over the Badgers come out of the zone.
With ten seconds or many they come in over the line,
coming in off the wing they got potted or a
Botanco trying to move to the nap comes around. There's
a shot that looks like a just why Gussie Hall
behind the app Badgers in front try to pick it up,
rid of it and coming back Badgers they try to
(02:11:55):
get a potential break coming on moving it in. Bart
shot in a goal.
Speaker 4 (02:12:01):
It trickled through as Riley Bart's gets the goal, it
sneaks into the Badger net and they laid it three
to two. He deeked in Eva got a little piece
of it, but not enough, and it slowly trickled across
the goal line. Son of a gun. Oh, and we
(02:12:21):
almost scored several times down here on the other end,
just prior to the Tommy's scoring that one.
Speaker 7 (02:12:28):
Holy cow.
Speaker 4 (02:12:29):
A game of inches, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (02:12:31):
And Saint Thomas has done a job of coming back
here Bart's and the goal on the assist from Brown.
Brown got the assist on the goal, and Saint Thomas
leads the Badgers three to two with six forty one
remaining in the period. Comes around on the far side,
played back down in behind on the far boards, over
(02:12:55):
trying to control it and coming back in behind the
act over. They try to set around on the far
side over to try and pick it up. Coming up
ice controlling it, Saint Thomas through the neutral zone, barts
with it, comes in over the line, driven in behind
the nap and Wisconsin already with forty two shots in
the game. Manati has been outstanding and they lead three
(02:13:19):
to two and coming up ice controlling it through Neutral's ice.
Here comes Harvey and over the line. On the play McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (02:13:29):
They try to break to the net down Pekinhagen with
it and Pekanagen back of it to Venusio and it
comes around over to Sims.
Speaker 6 (02:13:36):
Sims try to move in the slot, back over to Harvey.
Speaker 4 (02:13:40):
Harvey setting it up left point shot and turning in
a shot by Shapo Vali Vova and back on the play.
It's Venusio. Venusio pulling up.
Speaker 6 (02:13:50):
On the play, it comes to the wing over the Harvey,
Harvey back out on top over the Venusio. She fanned
on the drive. Chappo plays it around the corner, back
over to Pekano. Pekanog it on the far side, trying
to control it. Leyla Edwards back at center ice, picks
it up. Layla carries it in over the line, take
it off her stick, and it's gonna be dumped back Abra.
Speaker 4 (02:14:12):
Murphy will backhand it in over the line.
Speaker 6 (02:14:14):
Whistle and play. We'll be stopped. Five thirteen remaining in
the third period, and it's three two. Saint Thomas here
at lebon Arena.
Speaker 4 (02:14:26):
I tell you it's gonna go down to the buzzer here,
Paul Yeap, who's gonna get that one to notch it
up here?
Speaker 6 (02:14:36):
And it's gonna be played by the Tommies over the
blue line of the Badgers. Back goes Wisconsin trying to
control it, and they'll play at the length of the
ice and Manatti covers it up and that'll stop the play.
Speaker 4 (02:14:49):
Yeah, she saw Sims coming to the net there and
wisely hung onto the puck.
Speaker 6 (02:14:57):
And we'll have Wisconsin in the face off circle to
the left side of Manati back in the zone. Badgers
need one to tie it here. They're down three to
two around of the far boards, over trying to control it,
and Wisconsin back over to set it up back to
the point of the play and off work in the
(02:15:18):
wing and with it is Aba Murphy able with it
back down in the corner looking for help from Ava
brings it off the board, so they try to go
to Eden in front of the goal, ad around on
the far side and coming over to try and pick
it up to play to the point and Wisconsin controlling it.
Crowd trying to get into it a bit here down
(02:15:40):
back down deep in the corner, and Wisconsin back over
to try and control it.
Speaker 4 (02:15:44):
They'll move it up Ice, coming up Ice, controlling it, coming.
Speaker 6 (02:15:47):
Back in over the line, eating with it, back over,
and there's a shot in the kicked out of the
rebound whistle, and let's see you got an injured player down.
Speaker 4 (02:15:59):
Oh boy, back behind her own goal. It looks like
is that that is an Ava Murphy?
Speaker 12 (02:16:06):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (02:16:07):
Is that? Is that Sims? I hope not? I don't know.
I can't see the number. Is that Ava Murphy?
Speaker 8 (02:16:19):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:16:20):
No, it's uh Potter Landy Potter, I think, isn't they
no Sims? Sims. Yeah, And she's going right to the
right down the tunnel, so she must. I don't know
what happened, but Sims got hurt, evidently fairly severely.
Speaker 6 (02:16:39):
As she exits the game and coming back over trying
to control it. We have four ten remitting in the
third period and trying to go back over to pick
it up down in the corner Wisconsin along the boards
and back over trying to set it up, and Saint
Thomas with it comes around.
Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
On the play that silenced the crowd too. Yeah, and
it's going to be played back down the Badgers go
back and we'll have an icing call. Wow. I wonder
what I didn't know. Is she coming back? I don't know. Yeah, yeah,
she's back. She's walking back toward the bench.
Speaker 6 (02:17:20):
She's drinking some water or something.
Speaker 4 (02:17:23):
Yeah, you know, she was out racing back.
Speaker 6 (02:17:28):
The trainer is back, so maybe that is okay, and
it goes around to the far side over trying to
control it. Badgers need a goal to tie the game,
and coming back over and with it is Potter Potter
with it around on the far side, trying to pick
it up on the wing. It played to the point
it comes out of the zone. It sent our Ice
(02:17:50):
Saint Thomas with the lead three twenty five or Medican
regulation time. Badgers will pull it hop Ice on the
far side. They through the neutral zones and it's played
back in over the line. Boy here at Lebon, the
Badgers have been almost unbeatable. But you got three minutes
left in the game and it's quiet.
Speaker 17 (02:18:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:18:12):
I think it would be boisterous here. Yeah, yeah, let's uh,
we can use the band right now? Yeah yeah, which
UW band was here and we'll have the face off
coming up. You know, I want to say, yeah, let's
see if we can notch it up here three oh
(02:18:32):
five or three oh six part me remaining in the draw,
Wisconsin setting it up. They'll come around on the near side,
back of it to Harvey. Harvey playing it back down
in the corner. Saint Thomas goes back over, rims it
around the boards, trying to bring it out, play along
the boards. Cassie Hall with it, lost control of the
puck and it's going to be played back. Saint Thomas
(02:18:54):
is going to change up and they'll ice the puck
and that'll draw the face off back in their own zone.
That's good, I'll take that. Simms is back out on
the ice. Okay, that's a good sign.
Speaker 6 (02:19:09):
Gerson is gonna be set up here on the near side.
Good dishappo getting ready to try to win.
Speaker 4 (02:19:18):
The face offs for the Badgers at A time out
has been called. Yeah, I think sat Tommy's called time.
Speaker 6 (02:19:26):
And we'll hold it here because Bradley, we're on target,
aren't we on commercials? We got one left. Let's take
it there, my friend, we'll be back in thirty seconds.
Speaker 16 (02:19:41):
Reach fours.

Speaker 1 (02:20:09):
Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's Hockett presented by Oak Park Place.
Speaker 6 (02:20:14):
Two forty four Remedican regulation time and the Badgers on
the short end of it here three to two to
Saint Thomas College in the Twin Cities, with Tommy's at
one point trailed Wisconsin two to one, but here in
the third period they've come up with the two goals
and they lead the Badgers here two forty four Remedtican
(02:20:38):
regulation time, both teams at full strength, and it's going
to be set up by the Tommies. They'll move it
up Ice boring with it and skating it down in
the corner. Harvey goes back around over the Layley, Edwards
around the Kirsten Simms on the break and they play
it out over to Eden. Eden flipping it down on
the corner on the right side, coming over trying to
(02:20:59):
set it up and the Tommies will clear it. Badgers
at the point hold it in and shapel volley Bova
and the Edwards centered it looking to help, but the
Badgers controlled it but at the point right side, and
Harvey with it and right and control, and Edwards lost
(02:21:19):
control of the puck. Back over to Sims. Two minutes
remaining here right about seven eight players. They're in on
that little scrum. They let him play. Here's Harvey. Harvey
comes in over the line, Harvey carries it in. The
shot right on rebound, went over the stick of Eden.
We have one forty four Remintican regulation time. Back over
(02:21:42):
to Kirsten Simms. Kirsten drops it off over to Edwards,
a lail over the shot man comes around back out
on top, over to Harvey. Harvey back over to Laila,
comes back over to Harvey.
Speaker 4 (02:21:54):
Harvey fake the drive. K Harvey get the goal for
the Wisconsin Badgers. It's hard to tell if that was
redirected on the way in or not. The tenth goal
of the year and Wisconsin has tied the game at
three three oh Man, Paul Wow, I tell you Harvey
(02:22:18):
ripped one there and it found its way through there.
Somebody might have redirected it. It was hard to tell.
There was so much traffic in front of the net.
Speaker 6 (02:22:26):
Eighteen thirty four the time of the goal. The Badger's
tying it at three apiece. Oh man, wow, we needed
that fall in a big way, absolutely big, big way.
Coming back of it has set it up and Wisconsin
will go back in their own zone. That's an honassisted
(02:22:48):
goal for KK Harvey. Coming up Ice controlling get now
the crowd gets into it with a one minute ten
Listen to the difference. Yeah, coming up Ice, controlling it,
coming in over the here's a scandal with it down
in the corner. Garbatanco moving toward the front of the
nap Dassy Hall holds it in, Potter with it. Potter
(02:23:08):
tried to get off a drive shot block and the
Badgers drive it off the boards, moving it up ice.
Saint Thomas carries it down in the corner of the
Badgers zone. Beway there and scandal with it down to
forty four seconds, remitting a regulation time. The Badger's got
a hurry, maybe get one more opportunity and Garbatanco comes
(02:23:30):
ahead on the pass, comes in over the line. Here's
Hall with it with a shot went up against the netting.
Oh mayo be stopped, you know?
Speaker 4 (02:23:39):
Paul I almost think Harvey shot ricocheted off a Saint
Tommy's player. It looked like it was Oh, they did
gave it to Sims. Somebody redirected it on the way in.
It must have been Sims. Well we'll see here. We
got thirty seconds. They changed it.
Speaker 6 (02:23:56):
Yeah, they have changed it.
Speaker 4 (02:23:58):
They're saying, Sims eight seconds remaining.
Speaker 6 (02:24:01):
How's that She came off injured and then comes back
and scored around on the far side.
Speaker 4 (02:24:06):
They sent her toward the goal.
Speaker 6 (02:24:07):
We'll begin and shot Harvey with it, shot block shape
with it, big scramble in front, scamble. There's the luck.
Speaker 4 (02:24:16):
Then they'll have to reset the clock. At about twelve seconds.
I thought we were gonna score there, unbelievable, but the
clock ran after the whistle blew. So I think they're
gonna reset the time. Maybe not, but they should. So
(02:24:37):
that thing went live for a while. Holy cow, did
we have some pressure there?
Speaker 6 (02:24:42):
Face off coming up with ten point nine seconds remaining
in the draw, Wisconsin back on the point.
Speaker 4 (02:24:49):
Here's Edwards moving it in. Edwards shot blocked in front. Oh,
and it comes around to the play in for shutt
a GOALRD. They may have scor She scored they did.
They win the game at the buzzer, and won the
game at the buzzers.
Speaker 6 (02:25:12):
Off the bed after the injury.
Speaker 4 (02:25:15):
They're gonna put that at a about from one second
mark Scorge, I bet they're gonna challenge it. She took
that shot. It's in. Yes, she took the shot from
the extended goal line to the goalies far right. We're
gonna replay it. They're gonna look at it again. Wouldn't
(02:25:38):
this be crazy? She gets the goal to tie the game. Yeah,
she gets the goal to win the game. When did
she do that in that sense an NCAA title game?
Oh my goodness, Holy cow. You know what, though, I
swear to goodness the clock spun for about three seconds.
So if it gets into an issue where you know,
(02:26:00):
there wasn't enough time or the goal didn't go in beforehand,
but I think it did.
Speaker 6 (02:26:05):
They give an assist to Edwards on the goal by Simms,
who looks like she got her second consecutive goal.
Speaker 4 (02:26:15):
Yeah, in a span of about you know, gosh, they list.
Speaker 6 (02:26:21):
The time of that goal. Basically, they've got it at
the buzzer.
Speaker 4 (02:26:25):
Yeah, no goal?
Speaker 17 (02:26:31):
What?
Speaker 7 (02:26:32):
No goal?
Speaker 4 (02:26:34):
No goal?
Speaker 17 (02:26:37):
Did he?
Speaker 6 (02:26:38):
I you know?
Speaker 4 (02:26:38):
Did he say it? Didn't cross the goal line or
didn't cross it in time.
Speaker 6 (02:26:42):
They have said it didn't cross it in time. They've
got it up at the zero mark.
Speaker 4 (02:26:46):
Yeah, that's where it's critical. There was at about twelve
seconds the whistle ref blew the whistle, so we're.
Speaker 6 (02:26:57):
Had it for overtime, and uh, we'll see what happens here.
Speaker 4 (02:27:06):
Wouldn't that have been?
Speaker 8 (02:27:08):
Man?
Speaker 6 (02:27:08):
Crazy?
Speaker 4 (02:27:09):
Oh? And I man? Wow? Wow?
Speaker 6 (02:27:14):
One real, Paul, Yeah, unreal. Well, we know Sims has
one goal for sure.
Speaker 4 (02:27:20):
Yeah, man, and.
Speaker 6 (02:27:28):
Boy, what an effort on the comeback. Though this has
been a good hockey game in a lot of ways.
Speaker 4 (02:27:34):
Doesn't get much more exciting than this.
Speaker 6 (02:27:35):
Holy cow mark uh and uh Jackie Crumber comparing notes
down there, who's gonna play? They'll go three on three? Right, Yeah,
it'll be three on three for five minutes and then nobody.
Then they go to the shootout. And last weekend up
in Saint Cloud they did the same thing and they
(02:27:57):
had to go seven players deep. Huh that's crazy up
you yeah?
Speaker 17 (02:28:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:28:02):
And then the team that if a team wins it
in the shootout, they're awarded an extra point in the.
Speaker 6 (02:28:07):
Beginning got five of the six out of the weekend.
In the case if the Badgers hauld win the shootout,
they would have five points on the weekend. Yeah, so
we'll see what happens, man, oh man, And let's see
who's going to come out first for the Badgers. Couldie Edwards,
(02:28:30):
Harvey and Simms. I believe at least it looks like
it might be that way, man, Or are we going
to change up here? They're getting ready to do that.
They're selecting their players. Saint Thomas, meanwhile, is talking strategy
on their end of the ice. Ava McNaughton is set
(02:28:52):
up in goal to our left and the Manati is.
Speaker 4 (02:28:56):
In goal to our right. Here.
Speaker 6 (02:29:00):
What's the strategy when you're three on three?
Speaker 4 (02:29:03):
Well, one thing is if you don't have anything and
it's not a sin, to take it back out of
the zone and regroup. You know, if they're just defending
and they've got it tied up, take it out and
then you get an opportunity to change legs too, fresh people,
if you want.
Speaker 6 (02:29:21):
We got eating out with Harvey and Edwards for the Badgers. Yeah,
ready for the overtime coming up. Three on three hockey
five minutes up on the board and the Badgers win
the draw goes to KK Harvey. Harvey with the puck
looking and moving it comes in over the line, coming
off the wing. Harvey moving it in and try to
(02:29:44):
get off a shot, eating in front of the net,
and Saint Thomas will turn and try to bring it
out of their own zone. They'll fire it up the
far side. Harvey breaks that up and works it on
the wing. Wisconsin. That's center ice. They leave it, go
from Wards to Harvey comes in over the line. Badger's
straddling the blue line and Harvey comes in on the
(02:30:06):
right side, back over to uh Leiley Edwards. Edwards with
the puck circling on the left, comes around out on top,
controlling it, moves it around over to the right side.
Laila looking for the outlet on the pass, backs it
out just like Greenie was talking about three groups and
with it.
Speaker 4 (02:30:23):
Here's Harvey with it in over the line. Here's Edwards
moving it in.
Speaker 6 (02:30:27):
Shot went high and wide on the backhander. She had
to break away and behind it at Wisconsin. Now they
got sims out on the ice. Saint Thomas will work
it up ice. They come through neutral three point fifty three,
remaining little given gold. They break it up. Here's Kirsten
Simms coming in over the line. Kirsten with it, tried
(02:30:48):
to move in and the play. The Badgers will set
it up and control it.
Speaker 4 (02:30:53):
They'll move it around, and here's Shapovolivova with a drive
and that's blocked out in front and it's gonna be
cycled low along the back wall. Pressure by Shapel Volivova,
trying to hold the zone.
Speaker 6 (02:31:05):
They do with Sims and Volivova coming around on the farboards.
Saint Thomas looking for the breakaway. Badger's turn and they'll
come up ice. Saint Thomas with it comes through neutral.
They come in over the line, down on the corner
on the left side. Three twelve, reminting it right or
overtime period. They'll move it around. They try to set
(02:31:27):
it up. The shot went off the glass, Saint Thomas
behind the goal, tried to move it around back out
on top. They work it and down goes to defenseman.
They'll pull. They try to get Sims on the break,
moving it around. A shot kicked out rebound comes around
on the near side. Two forty eight remitting in the period.
(02:31:48):
Badgers try to work it out of their own zone
and controlling it and Wisconsin comes up ice. They come
in over the line and Potter with it around over
the sims, moving it in shot block, backhand.
Speaker 4 (02:32:00):
Er, Badgers winning in overtime. They get the goal and
Wisconsin is gonna score the swat they control the puck. Man, Yeah,
what puck possession? What puck possession. I still can't tell
(02:32:21):
who it was it fired in that game winner. But man,
oh man, unbelievable. We'll get you the who shot that
one in.
Speaker 6 (02:32:33):
Cassie Hall gets the goal for the Badgers, her twelfth
goal of the year. Wanted to wait and call until
we were sure A wow. Yeah, man, And it's all
overtime win for the Wisconsin Badgers four to three. But
I'll tell you what, Saint Thomas can be proud of
their effort here.
Speaker 4 (02:32:55):
Man, you're not kidding, Paul, You're not kidding. I'll tell
you it. Look everything tonight. Huh.
Speaker 6 (02:33:01):
Yes it did.
Speaker 16 (02:33:02):
Holy cow.
Speaker 6 (02:33:04):
And the exchange of the handshakes and the crowd appreciating
the efforts of the Wisconsin Badgers and Greening thanks for
your thoughts all the game.
Speaker 4 (02:33:14):
Appreciate it. This has been absolutely wonderful, Paul. It's always
a pleasure and I'm Wisconsin.

And we're back here at Levon Arena where the Wisconsin
Badgers came back and won this game in overtime, two
twenty eight remaining on the five minute overtime period and
Cassie Hall gets the overtime game winner.
Speaker 6 (02:34:51):
It would be your twelfth goal of the year. Look
like the Badgers had scored one right at the buzzer
by Kirsten Simms, but they just allowed the goal, apparently
saying it went in after the buzzer sound has gone.
And I think we're gonna be able to get Jackie
Hall downstairs. Jackie, are you with us right now?
Speaker 24 (02:35:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 25 (02:35:14):
I got you there.
Speaker 4 (02:35:14):
Paul boy, what a what game, Jackie? Holy smokes.
Speaker 6 (02:35:19):
Overall, let's talk what was your impressions from it down
there of the entire game, then we'll talk about the
end of it.
Speaker 12 (02:35:26):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, overall, I thought our team played
pretty well. I mean, to put up fifty shots, I
mean some nights the puck doesn't go in, and credit
to their goalies.
Speaker 25 (02:35:34):
She played outstanding.
Speaker 12 (02:35:35):
And you know we were we were pushing, we were pushing,
and you know, it just took us to the end
of the game to find that third one there and
then get the winner in the ot.
Speaker 6 (02:35:45):
And what happened on the second one by Kirsten was
obviously did go in? Did they say the fuck went in?
After the whistle? Oh?
Speaker 12 (02:35:54):
At the at the end of the game there, yeah,
I think, uh, I think I heard from Justin it
was like we were off by like point one on
our point two seconds, so just just a fraction.
Speaker 6 (02:36:03):
But then you get in Cassie Hall, who's having a
pretty good year, already gets the game winner.
Speaker 12 (02:36:09):
Yeah, totally exciting for her. I mean, in these situations,
people have to step up, and it was fun to
see her step up.
Speaker 6 (02:36:15):
Overall, how would you evaluate Jackie? How the Badgers are playing?
They're fourteen one and one.
Speaker 4 (02:36:20):
On New Year.
Speaker 6 (02:36:21):
But from a coaching perspective, what's your thoughts?
Speaker 12 (02:36:25):
Yeah, I mean I think there's a lot of areas
we need to grow in get better at as the
season goes on. I mean, only fourteen games in, so
there's lots of time to keep pushing. But I like
the effort, you know, I like the team game. I
think our special teams are doing are well and we
just need to, you know, just kind of find a
way every every day to get better and.
Speaker 6 (02:36:44):
You're getting healthier. Though that was a little scary when
Kirsten went off the ice there where you wondered what
in the world was going on, But obviously she's okay
coming back out.
Speaker 12 (02:36:54):
So yeah, definitely happy, happy to see it wasn't anything major.
Speaker 6 (02:36:58):
All right, Jackie, thank you very much your time. We
appreciate it. And nice win for the Badgers down there.
Thanks Paul, take care and the Badgers win it. And
that's Jackie Crumb who's been around the program for a
long time, and they got to be excited when you
get a win like that. And well it can take
(02:37:18):
a look and play the highlights of the game that
we've got so far.
Speaker 4 (02:37:22):
We'll go back to Bradburg at the studio and here
the game highlights. Badgers win the draw with it.
Speaker 6 (02:37:39):
KK Harvey light it to the blue line of the
Tommies eating on the off wing. Comes in, skates down
on the corner on the near side, works her sell free,
works it all the way around along the boards, over
to the right side, back over to the point to Laila, Laila,
back over to KK Harvey shot right on and coming
up ice. Here comes eating and over the line.
Speaker 4 (02:37:59):
Moving it in. Lacy Redon goes to the back ender
and scores.
Speaker 6 (02:38:06):
Her third goal of the weekend, her tenth of the air,
and Wisconsin is tied the game at one one and
coming back the other way, moving it in Brown with
a wow way by McNaughton as Brown had to break
away the other way. Back comes Wisconsin. Here's Laila, we'll
be gonna.
Speaker 7 (02:38:24):
Shot the goal.
Speaker 4 (02:38:27):
Lala Handwards gets the goal for the Badgers, their fifth
goal of the air and with toun and leads at
todeah Wan Rby back over to Laila, comes back over
to Harvey. Rb fake the drive to goal take. Harvey
gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badgers. It's hard to
(02:38:49):
tell if it was redirected on the way in or not.
Her tenth goal of the year, and Wisconsin is tied
the game at three three and Potter with it around
over the Sims, moving it in shot block backhanderbound Badgers
winning in overtime. They get the goal and Wisconsin is
(02:39:12):
gonna score They what a game?
Speaker 7 (02:39:18):
What else can you say?
Speaker 6 (02:39:19):
There isn't a lot to say. I mean, that finish
was crazy.
Speaker 9 (02:39:24):
Wasn't it a unreal I mean I was standing up
here for the ending there and I thought that was
in the back of the en I mean, I think
the whole place started in the back. At least they
did it before the triple Zeros came up. But then
they had to go to review, and then I heard
a lot of booze, So you know, we turned around,
came right back. They disallowed the gold, but no problem
for the Badgers hunt They got it done in overtime,
going to extras again for the second straight series. Of course,
(02:39:45):
we had that shootout game in Saint Cloud last weekend.
Now an overtime game tonight. Not what we were expecting
considering the eight nothing.
Speaker 6 (02:39:53):
Yeah, exactly. You got to give a lot of credit
to Saint Thomas, and they're especially their goaltender, Oh.
Speaker 9 (02:39:58):
My gosh, yes, yeah, yes, Nadia one of the best
goaltenders in the WCCHA. Obviously, the schedules are tough, they
are still ranked, and perhaps this extra point for Saint
Thomas could keep them in the rankings. They're battling for
it there at the bottom with Boston College, who are
right out of the rankings. But nonetheless, the Badgers get
the victory, which was I mean, my heart's still beating.
Speaker 4 (02:40:19):
I don't about you, Peb, but I hope my austrophy.
Speaker 9 (02:40:23):
But there you have it, a lot of lead changes.
The Tommies took the lead earlier on in the first period.
The Badgers answered back with two unanswered goals, taking a
two to one lead. Then the Tommy's had a couple
of unanswered goals themselves. They took a three to two
lead in the third period with two third period goals,
and then with Ava mcnonton on the bench, the extra
skater out for the Badgers, Wisconsin tied the game against
(02:40:47):
the Odds and then with well, I guess it was
zero seconds left, the Badgers thought they had then won
the game with point one second remaining, they went to
review it.
Speaker 7 (02:40:56):
It was no goal.
Speaker 9 (02:40:57):
It would have been Kirsten Simms, who got hurt earlier
in the game. I came back and nearly scored the
winning goal. But I don't think she's gonna care about that,
because then we go to three on three overtime and
Cassie Hall gets the goal and wins it for the
Badgers in overtime. Those were the final stats presented by
Jay in case security that's gonna do it from lebon
(02:41:18):
Arena here in Madison, Wisconsin. It was quite the scare,
but the Badgers got the sweep against the Tommies. From
