After the from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, alongside Mark Tousher,
Patrick Herb, Mike Keller, Dave mckinnn, and Asha Jackson. Back
at the Network studio. This is Matt Leapey. We welcome
you to Wisconsin football game number eleven. Both the Badgers
and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are looking for win number six,

(01:35):
which would officially make them Bowl eligible. Nebraska last went
to a bowl in twenty sixteen. The Badgers of a
twenty two year run of going to postseason play. One
of them is going to break through here today, and
one of these teams is going to try to break
through offensively. It has been a struggle, to put it mildly,

(01:56):
for both of these programs. Nebraska comes in average twenty
three point two points per game and the Badgers right
at about twenty four. Both teams have made changes with
their coordinators and we'll see who gets the better of
it today. And Tasha, let us get to our keys
to the game here presented by your Badger Land Chevy
Dealers and the only new twenty twenty five Chevy Equinox.

(02:19):
How do you see this for Wisconsin being able to
come out on top here this afternoon.

Speaker 8 (02:24):
I think first off, you have to, you know, acknowledge
kind of how things have went and what's going to
be different today with you know, Phil Longo no longer
calling the plays. And if you look at how last
week played out, I kept saying, get off to a
fast start, used that energy. Well we didn't, but we
still were able to weather that storm.

Speaker 9 (02:41):
But what we didn't.

Speaker 8 (02:42):
Do was be very efficient on third down. We didn't
stay on the field. And you're here, Luke Fickel all
the time talking about complimentary football. Well it was not
complimentary last year. The offense didn't hold up its end
of the donkey, and so now you're looking at it
got to be better on f We cannot go one
of twelve again. On third downs, I think you're gonna

(03:05):
be able to sustain anything. So that is in itself,
so it will be better on third down. Well, no,
you need to be better on first down and on
second down so that you're in a position to be
more manageable because that third and ten, third and nine
plus that's when Nebraska can heat up and that's when
Braydon Locke.

Speaker 9 (03:20):
Maybe you'll get loose with the football.

Speaker 8 (03:21):
So today it's gonna be all about winning first down.
If you can win first down and stay in, you know,
stay ahead of the chains, I think Wisconsin can have
a nice day on offense.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
It's gonna be interesting to watch the running attacks for
both teams. Nebraska's run defense is top twenty material nationally
at the Badgers when they've been at their best, they
have run the ball effectively. On the flip side, Nebraska
doesn't run the ball very well. Wisconsin doesn't defend the
run very well. So who breaks through in those areas?

(03:52):
Roust Nacoy and Ron Snodgrass is the referee here today
is this matchup between Wisconsin and Nebraska. It will be.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Ton it's a hit.

Speaker 10 (04:11):
Wisconsin won the toss, deferred their choice to the second half.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Nebraska will receive. Put your backs to the goal.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
So there you go if you're just checking us. Hunter
Waller and Will Pauling unavailable today. Both were banged up
last week against Oregon, so, as we mentioned in the pregame,
maybe an opportunity for someone like a tretch Kekahuna to
get more involved in the offense. Nebraska without one of
its corners, Tommy Hill, although Sierra Right stepped in last

(04:42):
week and played very well against his former team, USC
had a pick six and also had a blocked field
goal in that game. So as you heard, the Badgers
have won the toss, they have elected to defer. They'll
send the defense out there first park. Both of these
teams they try to, you know, figure it out offensively.
They've had spotlight games. The defense has certainly done enough
to win games. We saw with Wisconsin against Oregon last week. Nebraska,

(05:06):
after being trounced against Indiana, went into Columbus and Ohio
State had some season low numbers. Nebraska had every chance
to win that game. So you know, we know the
Badgers that have had some ups and downs on defense,
but the old black Shirts they're coming back here for Nebraska,
they have been better, saw as a better unit last year,
and it seems like they've picked up on it this year.

Speaker 9 (05:27):
No doubt.

Speaker 8 (05:27):
And I think anytime you have a couple of pillars
to kind of lean on, and Nebraska does in the
middle of their defense where they have big boys that
are good football players, you lean on that. And this
is senior day, you have a lot of emotion, you
have another sellout crowd. I guess four h four for Nebraska.
So the atmosphere. It is all going to be on
the line today. Both of these teams just salivating to

(05:50):
get a win. Wisconsin is going to have to make
some plays on offense and limit what they're doing. And
if they can do that, I like our.

Speaker 9 (05:57):
Chances this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
And Gavin lom on the approach is in the air.
Jacorey Barney waits for it. You're gonna bring it out
from a yard deep right side five to the ten,
cutting left of the fifteen yard line, room to the
twenty twenty five, thirty thirty five, up across the forty,
still up forty five to midfield, and Nebraska's in business.
Off of the opening kickoff return more underway in Lincoln, and.

Speaker 9 (06:19):
I wonder we've seen so many touchbacks this year.

Speaker 8 (06:21):
He ended up catching it like over his head, kind
of up like this, not in the normal way you
catch a kickoff, and started like he was going down
Nebraska's sideline and cut got one block Vekos did. Lom
did enough to kind of just push him out, but
not the start.

Speaker 9 (06:37):
We are looking for from Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Special teams still mark him out at the Nebraska forty
five yard line, so that's where this game will begin.
For Dylan Ryola and the Huskers offense. Dante Daldell is
the running back and they'll go two back offense. Emmitt
Johnson out there as well, and the first play for

(06:59):
scrimmage handle Emma Johnson up the left hash marks across
the forty five yard line, gets wrapped up by Darryl
Peterson at the forty eight on a gain of three.
Second down and seven for the Huskers.

Speaker 9 (07:09):
A nice job by Peterson.

Speaker 8 (07:11):
He did a little stunt from his right end spot,
kind of came back in, looped in and was able
to bring him.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Down second down and seven for the Huskers at their
own forty eight yard line. A porkrature slot to the
right back to throw. Ryola has some time whips had
left caught across midfield by Emma Johnson. He is wrapped
up by Christian Allegro at the forty five of Wisconsin,
and that'll be a first down for the Huskers, by
the way. With Hunter Wooler out, Austin Brown moves into

(07:37):
that safety spot. He works alongside Preston Zachman. First and
ten Nebraska already into Wisconsin territory at the Badger's forty
five yard line.

Speaker 8 (07:46):
Yeah, just an easy, comfortable throat to a little check
down and Allegro was able to wrestle him down, but
not before he picked up.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
A first Rightola will work under center here on first
and ten. Luke Lindenmeyer winging the right side. A porkrature
on that side of the line as well. Here's the
handoff Emma Johnson roob off the left side inside the forty,
inside the thirty five, and a burst down to the
thirty yard line of Wisconsin. So again, this Nebraska team
ranks thirteenth in rushing. It's just had this sense they're

(08:14):
really gonna test this Wisconsin defensive line. James Thompson Junior
was out there on that last play and now he
comes off.

Speaker 9 (08:22):
Well, and that was the case.

Speaker 8 (08:23):
Cheney from his linebacker spot shot and Nebraska's right tackled
did a good job of walling him and that allowed
a big space for the run.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Dama Johnson the running back for the thirty yard line
of Wisconsin's shotgun snap Roola pressure coming. Here's a throw
over the medal that's caught by Jamal Beggs inside the
ten yard line, brought down by Xavier Lucas first down
goal to go Nebraska. Riola got the ball out of
his hands just in time. And now the Huskers of
a first down in goal.

Speaker 8 (08:51):
Yeah, we brought pressure from from depth and unfortunately was
unable to get there. That left one on one coverage
rail that stepped up made the throw.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Big play from the nine yard line. First in goal.
Nebraska trips to the left. Here's the hand off. Emma
Johnson up the middle and takes it down to the
five yard line. Jake Cheney is there for Wisconsin, Austin
Brown as well. Second in goal for the Huskers.

Speaker 9 (09:14):
Way too much movement there.

Speaker 8 (09:15):
Darryl Peterson from his nd spot got washed down, nice
cut and then able to pick up four or five
yards there.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Two and a half minutes gone by Nebraska with a
big opening kick return and now five yards away from
paying it off, and Ryola goes out wide left. Heinrich
Harberg in their quarterback. Now they will do this from
time to time. Harberg takes the stamp, reads it, keeps it,
runs off to his right. Harburg to the end zone.

(09:42):
Touchdown Nebraska. Heinrich Harberg, the junior Nebraska native, and the
Oscars take it fifty five yards of the game's opening
drive to grab an early lead.

Speaker 8 (09:53):
Way too easy there with a wildcat or whatever you
want to call it, just keeps it uses the running
back kicks out Ricardo and then just muscle his.

Speaker 9 (10:01):
Way into the end zone. Way too easy there for Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Six nothing. The Huskers not quite three minutes into the game.
John Hall is on to attempt the extra point. Brian Bushini,
the punter, serves as the holder. Well, you're right, that
was an easy money drive here for Nebraska, as the
pat is in the air and it is good. Six

(10:29):
plays fifty five yards took two minutes and forty four

This is his tenth game of the season. He's thrown
it a few times, but definitely can run it, and

(13:17):
he cashes in for five yards away not quite three
minutes in seven to nothing Nebraska.

Speaker 8 (13:22):
That's about as bad of a start as you could
have hoped for.

Speaker 9 (13:25):
The Huskers take the.

Speaker 8 (13:27):
Ball out of the end zone and have a big
return and then it was not a ton of resistance
from Wisconsin's defense and balanced from Nebraska twenty eight yards,
passing twenty seven yards rushing for an easy that was
as easy.

Speaker 9 (13:43):
Of a touchdown drive as you're gonna see.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
To start a game, Ryan Bushini will kick off any
Anthony k. Jacamelli or deep high and over in Yacamelly
with a chance left side of the two. He is
to the five Yachadelly, the ten to the fifteen yard
line and a stop shy of the twenty, and that's
where the Badgers will begin first into They'll mark at
the eighteen yard lime while is Patrick Kerba was telling
us in the pregame show the operation the plays will

(14:06):
come down from Nate Letton, the tight ends coach, who
is up in the press box where he has been
throughout the course of this season. The Badger's offense will
huddle between plays. Kenny Geidon, the receivers coach, can signal
in when needed as well. So here comes Braydon Locke
and the Wisconsin offense. Badgers move right to left here

(14:27):
in the first quarter of play, pistol set with Toddwee
Walker behind lock Benny Anthony's slot right now motions to
the left on first down. Here's the handoff to Walker
up the middle and he gets maybe a yard and
that's it. That defensive line led by Nash Hutmaker and
Ty Robinson, they're tough to move, but the Badgers are

(14:50):
going to try to do it a little bit. Second
out and nine.

Speaker 8 (14:52):
Yeah, you saw double teams up front there trying to
move those two big dudes in the middle.

Speaker 9 (14:58):
That whey.

Speaker 8 (14:58):
I'm sure hopefully we're not calling their names a bunch,
but then that allows your edge guys to come off.
Quarterback's gonna have to run the football today a little
bit to soften some things up.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Bryce and Green Why to the right, Kakahuna and Vinnie
Anthony to the left. Kkahuna breaks the motion to the formation.
On second down, Lock throws a dark left side the
short pass cup by Vinny Anthony made one man miss
across a twenty five yard line to Sean Singleton out
of the secondary. Throws Anthony down very close to the
twenty eight yard line, which is what they need, and
they'll say he got there first down for the Badgers

(15:29):
at their twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (15:30):
Already a better start than what we saw last week,
where it was three and out, three and out, three
and out.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
Here, getting that first down.

Speaker 8 (15:36):
I said that last week, just getting that first first down,
especially with all of the stuff that happened. Now, shoot,
take a breath, get reset, and how you get moving.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Four minutes into the game, seven to nothing, Nebraska, Rice
and Green out to the right. We Walker the running
back to the left of Braydon Locke for the twenty
eight yard line, Wisconsin territory, first and ten. Locket's the
shotgun stamp looking left side, caught by Vinnie Anthony across
the thirty five yard line. Malcolm Hertsog the corner, a

(16:05):
junior out of Mississippi on the coverage in a gain
of seven second down and three for Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (16:11):
And I like that early in the dow. You don't
want to again. You need to get positive yards, and yes,
you want to run the football, but if they're going
to load up and put people in there and.

Speaker 9 (16:19):
They're hard to move, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (16:21):
Take the one on one opportunities, get a little run,
sell get it one on one, make a throw pick
up six or seven on first out.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Rice and Green, why do the right? Vinnie Anthony to
the left on second down, lock reads it, keeps it,
throws over the metal, caught by Anthony, makes a Man
miss at the fifty running left forty five forty Anthony
thirty five to the thirty and pushed out of bounds
inside Nebraska territory inside the twenty five head down to
the twenty three yard line.

Speaker 8 (16:45):
Oh great sell of the run by the offensive line
and a nice job by Lock holding it and then
getting it out of his hands quick. On that slant,
Anthony beats this guy that takes on the safety. He
was able to bust through that tackle and then use
this to make that big play, which is exactly what
we needed to see.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Forty two yards on the connection. Sierra Wright finally driving
Anthony out of bounds with a twenty three Nebraska first
down handoff, ta Wee Walker bangs inside the twenty yard
line and still driving the pile down near the sixteen
yard line. Good strong run from Ta Wee Walker the
Badgers into the red zone. Brought to you by KSEIH.

Straight shot by Riley Maulman of getting up on the
second level was able to wall his guy off and
then Ashcraft comes up and just kept moving his feet, finishing, finishing, finishing, finishing.

Speaker 9 (17:41):
Walker is able to pick up a couple extra yards.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Tekahuna slot right green, wide right. CJ. Williams out to
the left from the seventeen yard line, Nebraska territory shotgun
snap lot looking throws right side deep and it's well
beyond Kakahuna. The penalty markers fly in the Huskers secondary.

Speaker 9 (18:01):
A little grappy there. I believe.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Nebraska is a penalty plagued team about fifty seven yards
per game that ranks fifteenth in this eighteen team conference.
Here's a call.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Ference defense number two.

Speaker 10 (18:20):
Well, he plays the spot of foul AutoMac first down.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
It's Isaac Gifford the guilty party, and after all of
that is first in goal at the four.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
Great job picking up the blitz. Nebraska brought pressure. Thought
the guys upfront did a nice job, but Walker really
saw it through, took the linebacker on, squared him up,
and that gave it. You could see Locke had predetermined
he was thrown it back pylon. Well, he got held
and that allowed the refs to kind of see how
that unfolded. Got the PI call, and now we're in business.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
First and goal at the four. Jackson aker out to
the left hill motion toward the formation, snapped the lock,
looking poply right's side.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
I said, Green caught it. Touchdown Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yes, sir, Bryce and Green the back right corner of
the end zone. We're gonna have a shootout today?

Speaker 9 (19:09):
Or why I could? I'm on board.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
What an impressive answer by the Badgers after giving up
the early score. Crowd not convinced that Green had control
at a foot in bounds and did he survived the ground?

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Take it?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Let's go. The official was right there. He signaled touchdown.

Speaker 9 (19:31):
Rules down there, complaining.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Yeah, I would too, let's go line it up.

Speaker 8 (19:36):
I love, I don't know what's gonna happened. I'm sure
they're gonna take a look at it. But the ball
came out of Lock's hands. He put it right to
the spot where he needed to.

Speaker 9 (19:44):
Good catch. Crowd, you can complain all you want. We're
in for six.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Yeah they will. They taken the look at it upstairs.
But now now that rule's gonna use a time out
here to have them take a longer look at it.
So at the moment it's a four yard touchdown past
Bryce and Green. You have to survive the ground. The
official was right there. They had to.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Rescue his challenging the ruling on the field of a
completed path.

Speaker 9 (20:12):
Aren't all scores challenged anyways, Well.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
He wants a longer look the question did he survive
it long enough before the ball popped out? So we
have eight fifty two left in the first quarter. At
the moment, it's seven to six Nebraska, but they are
reviewing this, so if the call stands, this will cost
the Huskers a time out.

Speaker 8 (20:37):
Well, he definitely got his foot down and then the
ball kind of pops out. Boy, I think he survived it.
I don't know how much do you have to land it?
You know, the ball popped out at the end, but
I think he secured it, made a football move and
then it fell after he landed out of bounds after
he had his feet in.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
He got the replay up on the big board here.

Speaker 8 (21:02):
He has it in his right hand. Yeah, I think
that's good. But I'm also a homer.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
So yeah, I'm not. Well, I'm not positive.

Speaker 8 (21:12):
Okay, So he makes a great high point down the football,
fights through corner, actually does a good job of fighting
and scrapping, gets the foot down going to the ground,
puts it in one hand, which and then it well
the rest the.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Rolling on the field is confirmed. It is a touchdown.
Nebraska's charged their first time out. I may not challenge
for the remainder.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Of the game.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
So, Mike, you always said you didn't know what to catch?
Is you absolutely know what.

Speaker 8 (21:40):
I don't know now anytime there's an offside or a
false start, I'm leaving that to you.

Speaker 9 (21:44):
But they looked at it.

Speaker 8 (21:46):
Scoring plays are reviewed, and I think rule just didn't
want to believe it. And so hey, great, use your challenge,
use the timeout. We get six and who knows, We're
just talking about how much these offenses are struggling.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
Looks pretty easy so far.

Speaker 3 (22:01):

two left in the first quarter. Gavin Lom set the
kick off quinton I's r Corey Barney are deep bomb
with the kick and he got a little more of
this one. This will sail here the back of the
end zone. Folla. The touchback in Nebraska will start at

(25:08):
his twenty five yard line.

Speaker 8 (25:09):
And that obviously we didn't have that the first kick,
and Nebraska is able to get it out to the
forty five and then march down the field. So now, okay,
you're settled in. What a great drive Lock there, four
for four for sixty two yards, and I thought really
good getting the ball out of his hand on time.
Gave his guys, you know, Vinny Antony with a great

(25:30):
play and then that touchdown to Green, just a beautiful
throw into that back Pilon. So great start for this
newly made offense with a new leadership so far.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
By the way, Kenny geiton Well serving as the quarterbacks
coach as well as the receivers coach. He's meeting with
Brayton Lock with the iPad and on first down, Ryola
quick bro left side. That's caught by Jacorey Barney and
he gets popped right away by Bryson Green at the
twenty nine yard line. Gain of four. Second down and six.
Going back to Kenny Geyton, he played quarterback in college

(26:04):
his days at Ohio State, so this is again a
role that is in his wheelhouse, working with the quarterbacks
as well as the receivers. Second down and six for
the Huskers at their own twenty nine yard line, Marte
slotted the right side pistol formation with dal Dell They
running back and movement upfront. Will false start here against Nebraska.

Speaker 10 (26:23):
Here's the call fall start offense number twenty four byyard penalty.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Second down, it's Thomas Faedoni to tie it in and
a pretty good pass catching tight end. I might add
thirty receptions on the year. So it's second at eleven
for the Huskers at their twenty four yard line.

Speaker 8 (26:41):
Got a little chumpy there, and that's Nebraska makes a
good play on first down and you think they're normal
down a distance and now a false start puts the
second eleven defensive make a.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Play slot left slot right, dal Dell to the left
of Riola takes his snap. Badger's rush for right side
pass that is caught by across the twenty five yard
line up to the twenty seven and right there was Ricardo, Holman,
Isaiah and Nior the six to fourth senior receiver on
the catch, third down and seven four of the Huskers

(27:11):
at their twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (27:13):
That was a really nice job there by Ricardo. Because
he misses that he picks up a first down. His
little curl bounces out, nice tackle, open.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Field, two receivers left, two receivers right, shotgun snap Royola
back to throw, tight pocket and he got hit as
he throws in the past wobbles short of Jamal Banks
here the thirty yard line of the far side Halman
on the coverage. Badger's got some heat on the quarterback
and the Huskers are punting.

Speaker 8 (27:37):
Yeah, just a little bit of legro came from his
linebacker spot and occupied a blocker.

Speaker 9 (27:43):
But that was the key there.

Speaker 8 (27:44):
You were able to get a body get in rail
his face, a little bit hit him and that throw
wobbled out in a really nice stop talk complimentary football.
Your offense helped you out, your defense gets off. Now
let's see it play from a special team.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Yeah, Vinnie Anthony will handle the punt return duties now
with no Hutcher Wohler this week Brian Bushinia the punt
steps up and the kick is away and he turns
this one over backpedaling is Anthony jokes left side of
the twenty. He'll shoot it up to the twenty five
yard line and gets Sandwich shy of the thirty. Javen
Wright busting down there and punt coverage as well as
Isaiah Gifford fifty two on the punt, nine yards on

twenty two left to the first quarter. The Badgers and
Nebraska tied at seven. Wisconsin on offense, starting at the
Badger's twenty nine yard line, ce J Williams and Tretch

(30:37):
Kickahuna got out to the rights, then the Anthony to
the left derry On Dupree, and they're at running back
Tucker Ashcraft wing on the left side. Locke. It's the
shotgun snap and he was trying to read it. Nobody
was there, so he was a little rpoing to air
and then he ended up getting smacked behind the line

(30:58):
of scrimmage. That'll be a loss of a yard, maybe two.
We'll call it one of the twenty eight yard line,
second down and eleven.

Speaker 8 (31:06):
I'm guessing Dupree probably should have went the other or
stay because Locke put it in there and Dupre went
out to the right set to the Wisconsin Badgers silence,
So a little miscommunication there. Brandon did a good job
just holding on to it, taking a one yard loss.

Speaker 9 (31:20):
Moving on to the next.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Play, the twenty eight of Wisconsin. Second down and eleven
shotguns snapped. The lock, reads it, keeps it, whits it
over the meadow, rolling catch made by tretch Kekahuna across
the forty yard line. They'll mark of the forty one
and the first down well the Badgers at a gain
of thirteen.

Speaker 8 (31:35):
Nice runs up by the offensive line for Wisconsin, and
then Lock had a hitch a hitch for one, but
he waited for that window to open, delivered it in
a really nice job of securing that catch.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Six twenty five left to the first quarter, tied at seven,
First and ten for the Badgers at their forty one
yard line. Dupre remains the running back, Cej Williams out
to the left, Chris Brooks to the ride Lock, We'll
give it to Dubris bounce off to the right and
he gets wrapped up by Isaac Gifford. Across the forty
five yard line. Gifford throws him forward about another yard

(32:07):
to the forty six and it'll be a second down
for the Badgers in five to go.

Speaker 9 (32:12):
Really nice cut there by Dupree.

Speaker 8 (32:13):
That was just a zone playoff to the left side
of Wisconsin's offensive line. He made the one cut and
was uh noah Kowski did a good job, but just
enough of holding off that edge and allowed him to
make that bounce cut and pick up a quick five.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Grease stays in there. You got Williams and Kakahuna out
to the right, Vinnie Anthony to the left. Ball at
the Wisconsin forty six yard line, second down and five.
Kakahuna starts in motion to the formation, lock reads, keeps
the pressure and it hit as he throws in complete.
Oh he got smatched right at the release. Nebraska's claiming fumble.
The officials are saying incomplete. This Locke was able to

(32:50):
move that hand. It was it was not knocked loose
before he was into that throwing motion. Not play a ton,
but it was an incomplete pass. And it's now third
and five for Wisconsin its own forty six yard line.

Speaker 8 (33:07):
Just a little bit of leakage off of the right
side of Wisconsin's offensive line, and you're right, Matt, very
fortunate that Braden had it cocked up and was already
to get got rid of it just in time for
it wasn't a fumble.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Kackohuona slot left, Ashcraft in motion right to left, snapped
a lock pressure coming left side, passed and it's broken
up incomplete. Ashcraft got his hands on it, but Shaven Wright,
a senior linebacker, was there to make contact with Ashcraft
right away and forced the incompletion, and the Badger's punting
for their own forty six yard.

Speaker 9 (33:36):
Line sailed it a little bit there.

Speaker 8 (33:38):
The pocket was good, but you know, you just got
drilled to play before, so you're you want to get
the ball out of your hands quick. It's third and
five and it would have been a little short of
the first down even had he been able to come
up with it. But that was probably Braden not the
most accurate throw there from Braden.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Isaiah Garcia kestoneda deep for Nebraska at the Huskers eight
yard line. Atticus Bertram's on to punt steps to his left,
no pressure, The kick is away end over end fair
catch signal, then may eat at the sixteen make that
the eleven yard line in Nebraska territory, so both defenses
settled down a bit forty three yards on the punt

Five minutes nineteen seconds left in the first quarter, Wisconsin
and Nebraska tied at seven. The Huskers taken over at
their eleven yard line first and ten. Both teams with
touchdowns on their first possessions. Both teams forced the punts
on their second. Now the third at bat. Here for
Nebraska quarter number one and on first down, Ryola this

(36:46):
is the Dante dal Dell the right hash marks straight
ahead up to about the fifteen yard line. Ben Barton
gets up off the pile, gain a four second down
and six ful Huskers.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:56):
Barton just wouldn't stay blocked. He fought, fought, and was
able to throw his shoulder in there and I think
a legro came in to help get it out.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Figured back on the ball, rolling to his rights, Viola
shovels it and the.

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Ball popped out. It's loose.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
The Badgers will have it. Oh, Husker had it, lost it,
and there's.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
Big Ben Burton coming up.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
With a Jenyron Bonner was the receiver who had it,
and then it was pop loose, little underhand toss. Jake
Cheney delivers the hit and Ben Barton with the soft hands,
gets the I int.

Speaker 9 (37:30):
What to play it.

Speaker 8 (37:31):
Reola tried to be cute, little mahomes ask, oh, I'm
gonna flip it under and it bounced off his head.
Cheney did a great job. Was lodging it and what
I love Ben Barton just makes a play before is
running to the football.

Speaker 9 (37:44):
Good things happen when you chase and he showed those.

Speaker 8 (37:47):
Soft hands being able to secure that on the ricochet
up and sets up Wisconsin in a great spot to
go down and take the lead.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Well the seventeen of Nebraska first and ten Badgers in
the case IH red zone dot Com slash Badgers double
why to the right, dupre the running back shotguns snap
Brighton lock four a man rush lock, let's it go,
and it's through the hands of Ashcraft incomplete at the
fourteen yard line of the near side. Malcolm heartsog on
the coverage and it's second and ten Wisconsin at the

(38:16):
Huskers seventeen yard line.

Speaker 8 (38:17):
Just sailed that one a little bit, a little bit
of pressure coming off of the left side of Wisconsin's
offensive line. Nebraska a good job on first down. I
like the aggressiveness there. It's first out, you get a turnover,
you're going for a big play, get ahead of the
chains and unfortunately Braden sailed that one a little bit high.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Tah Wee Walker back in at running back Rice and
Green Why to the right. CJ. Williams to the left
crystol formation. Lock takes turns, gives off the Walker, bounces
off one Husker, makes a second miss and not the third.
John Bullock will finally run him down. All of that
for a loss of one, but it could have been worse,
maybe a loss of two. Will say. At the nineteen

(38:52):
yard line.

Speaker 8 (38:52):
Hey, that was Robinson coming off a mallman and it
looked like we're gonna lose two or three yards.

Speaker 9 (38:57):
And that's the beauty of Walker.

Speaker 8 (38:59):
He just keeps fighting and he took takes down another
shot where it'd have been a two yard loss, but
he kept fighting.

Speaker 9 (39:05):
And normally you're.

Speaker 8 (39:07):
Not too excited about a one yard loss, but that
could have been a lot worse.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Third down and twelve for Wisconsin. At the Nebraska nineteen
yard line, Kakahuna and Williams cut out to the left,
Brycing Green to the right. Walker is the running back.
Lock takes a snap, looking looking throws. It's caught by
Bryson Green inside the fifteen yard line, gets wrapped up
by jayven Wright near the eleven. That'll be about four
yard shy of the line to gain and Luke Fickle

(39:35):
will send on the field goal team is a Badgers
trying to get three off of this turnover. The ball
is placed just inside the seventeen or excuse me, just
inside the twelve of Nebraska, so it's fourth down at
about five, and Nathaniel Vacos comes on to try a
field goal. This will be about a twenty nine yarder
from the right. Hashbark vecos this season eleven of fifteen

(40:00):
with his field goals tied at seven, the three twenty
three left in the first quarter. The Lions are set.
Here's then the play is whistled right before the snap.

Speaker 9 (40:12):
Here delay.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
Boy gave nach.

Speaker 28 (40:16):
Right kicking team hi yard penalty worked.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Down, so it'll be a thirty four yard field goal attempt.
Here mentioned, the Badgers throughout this season have been very
good at not committing penalties. They ranked second only Iowa
has fewer penalty yards per game in this conference than

(40:40):
do the Badgers. This will be a thirty four yard
try ride hash Bark tied at seven. We're getting late
in the first quarter in Lincoln, and everybody's set, and
here's the snap placement made. The kick is away and
he missed it. No good. Oh, the Badgers get a

(41:02):
golden opportunity the defense forcing a turnover and Wisconsin gets
nothing out of it. We'll keep it here. With three
to ZHO three left of the first quarter, we stay tied.
That's seven and it's those mistakes.

Speaker 8 (41:15):
That was just a bad pull there by Ve because
he yanked it and I don't know if the five
yards would have mattered. I don't think that's you could put.
But it's those little things that add up when you
have those mistakes that you shouldn't. It wasn't as if
Luke Fickle was thinking long and hard about going for it.
It was go out there and you have to get
that process roll and unfortunate you make a great play,

(41:37):
Barton and Cheney make a great combination to get that
turnover and then you don't go get points. Now back
on the defense to try and make another stop.

Speaker 3 (41:45):
Husker's starting at their twenty yard line. Randon Lane out
there on the defensive line along with Kurt and Neil
Ryola guess a shotgun staff screen to the right, m
but Johnson to catch outside the numbers twenty twenty five
yard under the thirty cut against side left thirty five
to forty. Johnson's still up and finally tripped up across
the forty five yard line by Riccardo Hallman. That turns

(42:06):
into a twenty seven yard play Huskers up to their
forty seven yard line first and ten.

Speaker 9 (42:12):
Just great blocking and a great play design.

Speaker 8 (42:14):
Cheney came and he came off of the other side
opposite of the screen, so there was a guy down.
But give Nebraska credit great blocking on that screen from.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
The forty seven of the Huskers first and ten to
Corey Barney, little pop pass to him, bending to the left,
He's across midfield, splits defenders inside the forty five, still
up to the forty to the thirty five, and finally
Preston Zachman gets him to the ground. A couple of
big plays back to back for Nebraska first and ten
at the Wisconsin thirty two yard line.

Speaker 8 (42:44):
Luke Lindenmeyer did a fantastic job coming in motion and
he wore his guy out over all the way onto
Wisconsin's sideline that play. That block really was able to
spring that play and on a little pop pass that
should have been a two.

Speaker 9 (42:58):
Or three yard game end up turning new a chunk play.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
Twenty seven and twenty one yards in the last two
plays for Nebraska. And then at fifty left in the
first quarter Wisconsin seven, Nebraska seven. The Huskars have a
threat going on an epistol formation. On first down. Heinrich
Harberg is in there, reads it, keeps at the quarterback
cutting left, trying to reverse this field and dives forward

(43:22):
for about a yard to the thirty one yard line
of Wisconsin. So again they go to Harburg. This is
not unusual. This is part of how Nebraska has been rolling,
and even with the new offensive coordinator that that formula
is still intact. And now Ryola comes back in second
down and nine for the Huskers bought the Badger's thirty
one yard line.

Speaker 8 (43:42):
I think that was pious over off of the edge there,
did a good job, kind of got collapsed down a
little bit, but was able to use his speed to
get back out and contain the quarterback there of getting
it back in play that.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Role using a time out. Second time out taking here
in the half of this first quarter. Actually for Matt
Rule drive on Wisconsin. Check out another winning lineup at
badgerland Chevy dot com or visit your local Badger Land
Chevy dealer, a proud sponsor of Badger Football. One oh
five left to the first quarter. Seven to seven is
your score.

Speaker 8 (44:15):
And this is kind of a little bit of a
microcosm with some of the problems in the games that
we've not been able to come through on.

Speaker 9 (44:21):
Is you get.

Speaker 8 (44:22):
Opportunities and then if it doesn't work out, there's almost
like a little bit of oh oh, whoa. And Nebraska
gets a couple of big chunk plays. Now, all right, here,
you're in a position it's time to bow back up.

Speaker 9 (44:34):
You're at a second attempt.

Speaker 8 (44:35):
A nice job of stopping that wildcat run, and now
you have to figure out a way to get off
and force a field goal attempt at the worst.

Speaker 3 (44:43):
All right, here we go, second down and nine Nebraska,
the Wisconsin thirty one yard lines. Of all banks lot
to the rights isay and they are wide to the right.
Rightoly in the shotgun and takes the stamp badger cent
for right side pass and it's high and little. This
calculation between Ryle and the pass falls incomplete, and it's

(45:03):
third down and nine Nebraska at the Wisconsin thirty one
yard line.

Speaker 8 (45:07):
You just see a one on one operation there and
he just sailed that ball.

Speaker 9 (45:11):
It looked as if their wide out slipped a little
bit too when he was coming out.

Speaker 8 (45:14):
Of his break, but not a great timed up play.
And now you're sitting at the third and ten. Big
play opportunity for your defense to get after.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
On third down, two receivers rights Mayor out to the
left wall at the Wisconsin thirty one yard line, third
down and nine back to throw. Ryola looking fires to
the right and that is caught by Jamal Banks. He
came back to get it and he makes the casual
the twenty yard line of Wisconsin, and that's a first
down for Nebraska. Game of twelve.

Speaker 9 (45:42):
Wisconsin showed pressure.

Speaker 8 (45:43):
They ended up having a bunch of guys up in
there dropped out and Riola stepped into it. A little
bit of pressure coming off of their right side, but
he made a big time thrower picked up the first down.

Speaker 3 (45:53):
Yeah, a big third down and long conversion. Now a
first down for Nebraska. With thirty seconds left in the
first quarter. Time at seven, Mayor comes out to the
left to Corey Barney, slot right, tom All Banks wide
to the right and at Johnson in there at running
back snap to Ryola quick shot right side. That's caught
by Barney and then the ball was popped out, but

(46:14):
they'll rule it to catch progress stopped in bounce as
that was Preston Zachman over there to make the hit
at the seventeen yard line on what could be the
final play of the first quarter. It's second and seven
for the Huskers at the Wisconsin seventeen yard line and
that will get us to the end of the first quarter.
So some early scoring, both teams getting touchdowns on their
first possessions, Badger's missing an opportunity off a turnover and

(46:38):
Nebraska with a threat. As we will move to the

seven nothing at the end of one, Michigan leeds Northwestern
ten to nothing, and ninth ranked Ole Miss got beat
earlier today on the road in Florida twenty four to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (49:10):
O Gators have really bounced back and they looked like
everything was off the rails. There a lot of credit
to that program.

Speaker 10 (49:16):
I was reviewed for a completed pass and the ruling
on the field stands is called second down.

Speaker 3 (49:22):
There it'll be a second down and seven for the
Huskers of the Badger seventeen yard line. Seven to seven
here in Lincoln, as we start quarter number two, Nebraska
now going right to left at the south to north
that Memorial Stadium em at Johnson. Here's the running back
double wide to the left, and Heinrich Harberg reads it,

(49:43):
keeps at the quarterback inside the fifteen yard line. Run
down by Aaron Witt at about the twelve and it's
third down and two now for Nebraska.

Speaker 8 (49:55):
Awesome job by Wit of chasing that down, because really
well designed play and they pulled a couple of offensive
linemen to get out in front. If with doesn't chase
him down, that would have been big time trouble. Great
effort there reading it and then having the talent to
go make a play.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Third down and two for the Huskers of the twelve
yard line of Wisconsin. Dante dal Dell the running back.
He was actually in there the last play as well.
Pistol formation double wide to the left thanks of the
slot motions to the right hand offdw Dell big hole
up the middle, ten five touchdown Nebraska Dante dow Dell Well.
That was a mammoth hole and another easy money touchdown

(50:33):
here for Nebraska early in the second quarter.

Speaker 9 (50:36):
Just a lot of rock.

Speaker 8 (50:37):
Wisconsin decided to slant some of their offensive or defensive line,
and Nebraska did a good job of picking that up.
A lot of deals in the back, but that was
that opened up wide and then there was no content
and nobody in the secondary to be able to withstand it.
And that was you said, Matt, about as easy of
a run in sports.

Speaker 10 (50:56):
With the like conduct offense number fifty six. The ball
his first to the game fifteen yard pill would be
enforced on the kickoff.

Speaker 3 (51:05):
So that's that's interesting, potentially an interesting thing for Wisconsin.
Micah Mazuka, the offensive one.

Speaker 8 (51:13):
Don't want any old lineman to have any fun manam
in shoot.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
It's become the no fund league here too, huh.

Speaker 9 (51:23):
It seems to be trending that way.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Yeah, opening minutes, second quarter, thirteen to seven Nebraska. This
hole is on for the extra point and the kick
is away and it is good. An eight play, eighty
yard drive for the Huskers off of the miss Wisconsin field.

Speaker 6 (51:39):
Goal.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
It took three minutes and forty five seconds. Dante Daldell
with a twelve yard touchdown run as Nebraska grabs the
lead again. Much like Badger athletics are good friends of

The Badgers play here. This is Badger football from Lear field.

Speaker 16 (52:52):
Ma, is this signed me to hamster?

Speaker 9 (52:55):
I think so. It's my homework, right, hmm, I think so.

Speaker 16 (52:59):
Is is this milk still good?

Speaker 26 (53:02):
I think so.

Speaker 34 (53:04):

Speaker 3 (53:58):
Fourteen seven leads Wisconsin opening mid of the second quarter
at Dante Dalvell fwolve yard touchdown Lon butt on sportsman
like penalty against the Huskers means Brian Bushini will be
kicking off from the twenty You got kad Jacomelli and
Vinnie Anthony deep four Wisconsin Boushini with the kick in
the air, opportunity knocks for vine Anthony. He'll catch right

(54:19):
s oide oft the eight. He's to the ten fifteen
spints across the twenty five thirty thirty five to the
forty Vinny Anthony of the forty five midfield in the
Nebraska territory, and that's where the Badgers will begin at
the Huskers forty eight yard line, first and ten. That
was a forty four yard return for Vine Anthony, and
I think.

Speaker 8 (54:37):
You see the special team's part of this big play
Nebraska to start the game in here. You give up
a touchdown, you get the penalty with the offensive lineman
spike in the football, and I don't know how much
people actually have to cover.

Speaker 9 (54:50):
There's so many touchbacks.

Speaker 8 (54:51):
Now that was the case where you get that fifteen yards,
you get that had a speed and Vinny Anthony makes
one guy miss and you're starting on the other side
of the fifty China.

Speaker 9 (55:00):
Get this think back to tie it up.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
Badger's move left to rights here in the second quarter,
double wide to the left pistol formation icing green in
motion left to right snapped the lock, takes the hand off,
little roll left, throwing left, caught by Tucker, Ashcraft stumbles
down inside the forty five to the forty four yard
line mark quiz. Marquise Buford was over there to make

(55:22):
sure gain of about four second out and six to
four Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (55:26):
I love the play design.

Speaker 8 (55:27):
They're a hard cell run to the right. You bring
Ashcraft back on the other side, and unfortunately, think if
he keeps his feet he's probably very close to a
first down.

Speaker 9 (55:36):
Really well designed play.

Speaker 8 (55:37):
Unfortunately, a little turf monstery got out there, tripped him
up early.

Speaker 3 (55:41):
Anthony and Kekahuna cut out to the lefts you got
Brycing Green to the rights, Kakahuda in motion to the right.
Walk it's the shotgun snap. He'll feed Tawie Walker over
the left side and he has thrown back progress to
about the forty two yard line. Elijah Judy along the
defensive line first to get to Walker in the Badgers

(56:01):
of a third down and four at the Huskers forty
two yard line.

Speaker 8 (56:06):
So far, I think running the football Wisconsin is doing okay. Well,
You're not getting a lot of space and not getting
a lot of run that time.

Speaker 9 (56:13):
He was able to fight. Everything has been.

Speaker 8 (56:15):
Really difficult so far for Walker in the just traditional
run game.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
So we had a pretty productive night last week. Ninety
seven yards against Oregon. Well the forty two of Nebraska.
Third down and four wisconsint Lock gets the snamp, hands off,
the Walkers lands off the right side inside the forty
Walker thirty five. He's to the to the twenty five
and down near the twenty two yard line of Nebraska.
It was Judy finally running him down that time. Walker

(56:41):
had a crease the'll mark of the twenty three of
the Huskers. First in ten for the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (56:45):
Hubert at right guard did a fantastic job of fighting
to keep his block and that on Malman did enough
kind of to wash his guy out, and Walker just
took the front side, saw a little space, hit it,
and then was able to bounce and pick up a
bigger end. It's green down. They're making a nice block
on the perimeter. Make that run even longer.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
Walkers stays in there at running back double Lde to
the right Anthony and the slot goes in motion and
movement up front. Great hopping mad literally there.

Speaker 10 (57:15):
We'll start offense number sixty five yard goodlety first down.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
So they get first in fifteen Wisconsin. Well, what we're
seeing in this first quarter plus is why these teams
are five and five. I mean, they make mistakes. They
kind of.

Speaker 8 (57:33):
Let all their own momentum, let off the gas when
you do and then not, you know, take advantage. So
you're fighting, you're scrapping, and you get a big play,
big first down.

Speaker 9 (57:42):
You set it back first to fifteen.

Speaker 3 (57:44):
Jackson Akers slid right, motions left, snapped the lock, you'll
get it to Walker and runs right and one of
the Black Shirts ball popped out. Play was dead. Vincent Shavers,
a linebacker, is there and there was a game of
just one the twenty seven of Nebraska. The have a
second down at fourteen.

Speaker 8 (58:03):
I've said a bunch at Walker. You know, he's done
a good job of reading things out. That time, I
think he bounced it too early. There was some whoile
actually a pretty good job.

Speaker 9 (58:12):
He bounced it. When you bounce it, you're on your own.

Speaker 8 (58:14):
And that time he bounced it shouldn't have bounced it,
and that's why we lost.

Speaker 9 (58:18):
Three or four yards.

Speaker 3 (58:19):
Anthony had Kekahuna come out to the left, Vinnie Anthony
to the right, well the Nebraska twenty seven yard line,
second out fourteen. Wisconsin locked back to throw three man
rush left, scene passed. It is caught by Anthony and
he is a whip to the turf just inside the twenty,
maybe the nineteen of Nebraska. A third down coming up
here for Wisconsin eleven fourteen in counting left in the

(58:41):
half fourteen to seven. Nebraska ball placed just inside the
Huskers twenty, so it's third down and about seven.

Speaker 9 (58:49):
Really nice protection there, and I throw a.

Speaker 8 (58:52):
Nice job of securing that catch and able to pick
up a couple of yards there. Nebraska just sat in
his own kept everything in front, made the tackle right as.

Speaker 3 (58:59):
He caught three receivers right spinne Anthony to the left.
Walker is the running back these lock surveys. The defense
play clock is at five. Locke gets a snap, four
man rush, great throws over the middle, cut by Kakahuna.
He gets belted right away at the sixteen yard line.
It'll be fourth down and three here for Wisconsin. Nebrasco

(59:22):
they were gonna let him get the catch, but they
weren't gonna let Trets get anything done. Afterwards, as the
field goal team comes on again, Vaco's missing late in
the first quarter, gets another opportunity here early in the second.
This will be a thirty four yard try from the
left hash but when there is looks like he's kicking

(59:47):
into it. Here in the second quarter, here's the snap,
the ball is down, the kick is away, and this
time it is good for Nathaniel Vacos. So the Badgers
pull within four. There's the answer, the touchdown with a
field goal. There's a fourteen to ten ball game. Wisconsin

Speaker 8 (01:03:10):
On a sun splashed afternoon, you kind of mentioned it,
Matt Special team's giving up free yards.

Speaker 9 (01:03:16):
It's another reason both teams struggling.

Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
Two receivers left one on the right with thirty five
yard line. Viola hands off Emma Johnson off the right
side and he gets wrapped up by Preston Zachman. Gain
of three to the thirty eight of the Huskers second
down and seven.

Speaker 8 (01:03:29):
Seeing Wisconsin doing a lot of movement, their defensive line
doing a lot of movement, and that puts you in
some positions. If Nebraska dials something up, you're going to
put that safety. And obviously Hunter Waller, leading tackler for
this team not playing, puts a lot of pressure on
these defensive backs.

Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
The second down, Loriola gets the snap back to throw
a lot of time, the scan flips it short, Mayor
the catch and he'll get the first down. He is
tossed to the chalk by Christian and Legro at the
forty six yard line of the far side of first
down of the yard to spare Isaiah and neyor six
four two twenty. They have receivers with size. Daniel Holgerson,

(01:04:04):
the new offensive coordinator, and meeting with the media this week,
saying you got a block better, You're big. He used
the word embarrassing. He's coming in hot is Daniel Holger saying.

Speaker 8 (01:04:14):
Yeah, he did not hold back, got his presser there.
That was a good job by the right side of
Nebraska's offensive line passing that stunt off.

Speaker 9 (01:04:21):
That gave Rayol all kinds of time to make that throw.

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
Trips to the left till the Husker's forty six yard line.
Here's a hand off Demi Johnson off the right side,
and it's a legro there again to make the play
a gain of one forty seven of Nebraska second down
to nine eight fifty left in the half fourteen to ten.
Nebraska leeds Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (01:04:38):
And Nebraska pulled their center and their right guard and
for whatever reason both said I'm not going to block
a legro. They've been watching film and seeing the power
that he's packing and just decided not to pick him
up in Allegro says, thank you very much, I'll pull
him down in for a one or two yard pickup.

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Gabe Irvin now in a running back sixty to one
junior double wide to the left the Nebraska forty seven
yard line, where it's second down and nine right, all
about to throw a little safety blitz left side passed
in and out of the hands of the intended receiver
at the fifty yard line, Max Lofi on the coverage
Isaiah Garcia Castaneda the intended receiver begat Third down and

(01:05:18):
nine for the Huskers at their own forty seven yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:05:21):
I like that Wisconsin brought pressure. Look at it was
Austin Brown coming off of the left side of Nebraska's
offensive line, and Rayola sees that and is going to
make it.

Speaker 9 (01:05:30):
But Lofi did a really good job of.

Speaker 8 (01:05:31):
Reading it and coming up closing on it quick and
making forcing that incompletion.

Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
Trips to the left, Third down and nine Nebraska from
its own forty seven yard line, and again pressure coming.
Riola dropped it off Emma Johnson to catch across the
forty five yard line. Had good work in the open
field by the true freshman corner Xavier Lucas, brings him
to the ground of the forty eight yard line. Fourth
down and eight Nebraska. What these corners for Wisconsin, they

(01:05:57):
can tackle and O we do a nicier for Youreen.
We just saw Lucas, We've seen Rico, Ricardo o'hallman. We'll
talk about that a lot about that about that specific position.
But these guys bring guys down for sure.

Speaker 8 (01:06:10):
And I think you could look at well Hunter Waller
when he's been out there. That's something that's been asked.
And I think Nyser has done a really good job
last year. Maybe struggle will bit really is improved in
that part of it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:20):
Ryan Boushini came in averaging a bit better than forty
six yards per punt. Gets the snap and the kick
is away. Vinnie Anthony's signaling for the fair catch and
he'll let it hit inside the ten to the five
and the Badgers are in a hole, goes out of
bounds inside the five yard line. They love them some.
Brian Boushini here in Lincoln, Nebraska and a forty nine

(01:06:42):
yard punt near that coffin corner just makes it that
much more popular in the moment. Badger Extra is the

Nebraska leeds Wisconsin and the Badger's offense starting at their
own three yard line.

Speaker 9 (01:08:36):
That was a real funky third down.

Speaker 8 (01:08:38):
It looked as if the center and the right side
of the offensive line we're on one count and the
left side of Nebraska's offensive line wasn't.

Speaker 9 (01:08:47):
And Pious came screaming off the edge.

But then a great you know, the old school, the.

Speaker 8 (01:08:56):
Old coffin corner ball ricochets and puts Wisconsin and up
against it. And I know one of the things about
this stadium, which is awesome unless you're backed up, there's
a lot of people at as a steep big a lot.

Speaker 9 (01:09:10):
Of folks in that end in both end zones.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Raid lock lining up about three yards. You know, the
end zone takes the stampans off walker off the left
side across the five yard line. Walker bangs his way
up near the ten. We don't give him a little
bit of elbow room. That's a good seven yard run
from Tawee Walker. Second down in three.

Speaker 8 (01:09:27):
And Jackson Aker did a nice job just off of
the edge of securing enough space to let Walker bounce
that and able to go pick up positive. I mean,
that's awesome when you're backed up like that to pick
up six or seven on first down.

Speaker 9 (01:09:40):
Big time start to this drive.

Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
Chris Brooks out wide to the left. You got Kekahuna
and CJ. Williams to the right with Tretch in the slot.
Lock at the organized Blake clock at seven, takes the
stampans off the Walker trying to pick his way through
maybe a yard. That's it. Nebraska getting stingy the interior
of the defense. MJ. Sherman one of the linebackers among

(01:10:03):
those on the scene. Third down and two, pretty sizeable
play here with six and a half minutes left in
the half, Badgers backed up at their eleven yard line
facing a third down and two.

Speaker 9 (01:10:15):
And we're seeing Nebraska's very stout. Those two big dogs
in the middle. They have been very stout.

Speaker 8 (01:10:21):
Most of the success has been out on the perimeter
so far running the football.

Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
Two receivers right, looks to the left, so you've got
Riley Nowakowski now motioning. Three receivers right side of the formation.
Locke looking to throw, looks right, looks left, throws left
wide open Chris Brooks across the thirty five yard line,
and Brooks fights his way near the forty before he's
thrown out of bounds. So Chris Brooks comes up with

(01:10:47):
the reception. Didn't play at all last year. Appeared in
only the ball game two years ago. Redshirt sophomore out
of Saint Louis, big time reception Badgers of a first
and ten of their thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:10:59):
That was one with the protection, Nebraska only rushed three.
Great job up front, and Brooks did a fantastic job
of flipping the safety's hips to pick up that first out.

Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
CJ. Williams in motion right to left, two receivers outside
of the formation. Lock reads keeps back to throw under
some pressure, flush left and he'll throw it up and
away incomplete.

Speaker 9 (01:11:18):
That hurt from up.

Speaker 8 (01:11:18):
Here, Plenty of time there for lock nice job of
protecting just a little bit of late leakage and it's
always when you're throwing the football and as you're fully extended,
you take a shot to the ribs. I'm always all
because come at full speed. Good job of getting rid
of it and not having anything bad happening.

Speaker 9 (01:11:39):
He's old for the pain to your ribs.

Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
Big old Ty Robinson appearing in this fifty eight game.
He has six sacks on the sixty fifty eight Uh
huh boy sega down and ten for the Badgers. They're
on thirty eight yard line, five and a half minutes
left till halftime, fourteen to ten. Nebraska leads Wisconsin. They
will lie to the right, lock back to throw three
man rush and off Acre the catch across the forty

(01:12:02):
five yard line. It's up near midfield and they whistle
the play down. That'll be a first down on a
gain of eleven to the forty nine yard line of Wisconsin.
When Jackson Acre is showing some strength. He had Isaac
Gifford and two or three of Gifford's buddies make it
four getting in there, but Jackson Acre cars out space
for the first down.

Speaker 8 (01:12:21):
And what I love about that again, good protection, good
enough protection, but lock not trying to do it.

Speaker 9 (01:12:26):
And I'm trying to be Superman.

Speaker 8 (01:12:28):
Just takes the checkdown an Acre immediately caught it and
just shot straight.

Speaker 9 (01:12:33):
Up the field. Took on four or five different Huskers.

Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
Aaker winging the right side, there's a pop pass Tretch
Kkahuna trying to bend it back across midfield's landing right
forty five to the forty tretch to the thirty five
tretch inside the thirty down to the twenty nine yard line.
There's Tretch Kakahuna making people miss hit the ball in
his hands. He can make something happen twenty two yards
on that play, first down Wisconsin at the Nebraska twenty

(01:12:56):
nine yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:12:57):
Vincent Shavers is right there in position holding it and
Tretch just made him rip completely had him with and
then was able to turn it up the field had
Riley Malman out there kicking out nicely done there by Tretch.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Anthony and Keckohuna to the left, ricing Green to the right.
Here's the handoff dry on Dupree at the right. Watch
Mark's hard collision Dupree bringing it inside the twenty five
down of the twenty four yard line. Wow. I think
that was Isaac Gifford who came in on Dupree and
dry On. Duprie said hello, and Gifford is slow to

(01:13:33):
get up. Hey, wow, what a collision.

Speaker 9 (01:13:35):
That's what you always hear.

Speaker 8 (01:13:36):
Let's see how willing you know safeties and corners are
gonna be, you know, the first quarter, second quarter that
was a hey, all right, you're gonna stay in that hole.
I'm gonna bring it and let's see if you want
to do it the next time.

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Segon down and five Wisconsin at the Nebraska twenty four
yard line. Anthony wide left, ricing green to the rights,
Chuck guns snamp lock reads, keeps pop fly deep left
side wants of any Anthony and it's incomplete left edge
of the end zone, well beyond his reach, and it
will be third down and five from the twenty four

(01:14:10):
yard line of Nebraska.

Speaker 8 (01:14:14):
Good job there by Renfro, just to take in the
Nebraska brought the house. That was, they brought everything and
left their corners one on one. I think Brayden kind
of slapped his hands. After you have to throw that
ball in play. You have one on one, you have
the leverage, put it on that back pylon and let
your wide oakle try to make a play.

Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
Bly Hill on the coverage by the way, two receivers left,
one on the right snap the lock and looking to
throw fires high passing complete one at Kekahuna Marquis Beauford
covering as the drive stalls of the twenty four of
Nebraska fourth down, and again that Daniel Vakos comes on

(01:14:51):
with three twenty one left in the half.

Speaker 8 (01:14:54):
Very fortunate there that that ball went to the turf.
He sailed it a little bit, a little bit of
pressure coming there from Nebraska lock hap. You know sometimes
incompletions go ahead get points here.

Speaker 9 (01:15:06):
That could have been. That could have been a lot worse.

Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
This will be a forty one yard try right hash
mark for Vecos who hit from thirty three a few
minutes ago. Everybody set snapball down, kicks away from Vecos
and he yanked that one wide left. No good rough
first half for Nathaniel Vecos. He has missed two out
of three and Nebraska hangs on to this four point

(01:15:28):
lead with three minutes and seventeen seconds left in the
first half. We'll keep it here. It remains Nebraska fourteen
Wisconsin ten.

Speaker 9 (01:15:37):
Is a tough job. I'm telling you.

Speaker 8 (01:15:39):
Kicking it sounds easy, and I know McAfee does that
thing where he has just college kids doing it. But
when you miss one, and you know, Matt, I've seen
you golf. You yank something or you push it, then
you want to overcorrect and it can be tough. But
that was also you're gonna get that little you know,
used to being be on paper. Now what do they
call him? iPads? Whatever little tablets are. Leakage came. That

(01:16:03):
was I don't know if thats sped up vacos, but
there was a guy coming that would have blocked that kick.

Speaker 9 (01:16:07):
Gotta get that cleaned up too.

Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
On first and ten, the Huskers starting to shy their
twenty five yard line. Riola back to throw, looking, has
plenty of time, checks it down. That's caught by Emma
Johnson across the twenty five yard line and he is
dragged down by Austin Brown over there the twenty eight
yard line, Nebraska territory on a gain of four.

Speaker 9 (01:16:28):
Don't love how clean that pocket was.

Speaker 8 (01:16:30):
I know it was first down a run fake, but
there was nobody near Royola he had all day.

Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
So I get down in six for the Huskers their
own twenty eight yard line. Alex Bullock, the receiver wide
left Moses to the formation. Riola hands off Emma Johnson
with room thirty five to the forty yard line. Jake
Cheney will take him to the ground at the forty
two of Nebraska first and ten for the Huskers. With
two thirty eight left in the first half, fourteen to
ten Nebraska, the Huskers have one time out available, and

(01:16:56):
of course they got the two minute timeout as well.

Speaker 8 (01:16:58):
Justin Evans, that left guard, I'm never going to advocate
for holds. He completely tackled the legro in the hole
there and that allowed that big run.

Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
To ask James Thompson junior, part of that defensive line
for Wisconsin. Now Ryola takes a snap, rolls left, throws
left Ney or goes down to get it, and he'll
make the catch of the forty eight yard line Nebraska
territory on a game of six.

Speaker 8 (01:17:19):
Very nonchalant there by Riola get rolling out to the
left and almost spiked that football.

Speaker 9 (01:17:24):
If he did get his hands under it, as the
heck of a catch and.

Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
It'll get us to the two minute timeout. We'll continue to.

Speaker 9 (01:17:30):
Keep you to look at that. See he get his
hands under it.

Speaker 8 (01:17:34):
Maybe I'm just hoping it looked like it was just
a kind of a nonchalant easy throw that he didn't
need to he spike didn't.

Speaker 9 (01:17:43):
I think he did get his hands under and it
caught it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
Two minutes left in the first half, fourteen to ten,
Nebraska leading Wisconsin. Rodrews again. This has been a half
of missed opportunities. They got to turn over in the
red zone, came up empty, a miss field goal, had
an impressive drive here, got it to a second and
five of the twenty four of Nebraska, a miss on
a shot play, and then another incomplete pass, and then

(01:18:07):
Baker's missing again. So it remains a four point lead
for the Huskers with two minutes left in the first
half of play.

Speaker 8 (01:18:17):
There's you know, it's one of those halfs where there's
some stuff you really like, and I think the run
game is starting to pick up a little bit. It's
tough sledding inside and we kind of knew that that
was going to be the case. But you're seeing Walker
get out on the perimeter. He's bouncing some things. I
think the perimeter blocking by the wideouts and the tight
ends has been pretty good. And Bradon Locke has been

(01:18:37):
you know, he's twelve of eighteen for a buck fifty seven.
He's making some throws, but that's the case where you
have that one on one. The guys did a really
good job of picking it up on that second and
five you're talking about, and you have to give your
guy a chance. You throw the ball out of bounds.
You have that coverage, you have the leverage, and he
was unable to place it where you wanted and then
you set yourself up for a field goal and unfortunately

(01:18:59):
we missed.

Speaker 9 (01:19:00):
And that's the difference in the game so far.

Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
Injury update, Tucker Ashcraft take into the locker room, lower
body injury. We're hearing from Patrick so well.

Speaker 8 (01:19:11):
We're seeing a lot today when we're trying to get
the run game going, a lot of twelve person hour.
You got two tights in a back, so hey, somebody
step up.

Speaker 9 (01:19:19):
And how you're going about your business.

Speaker 8 (01:19:21):
I think so far, you know a lot of talk
about the mechanics of what this is going to look
like in huddling and all the other stuff.

Speaker 9 (01:19:28):
I think all that's been pretty good.

Speaker 8 (01:19:29):
Yeah, you look at that, that looks like that's been
You wouldn't even notice.

Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
I see if this Wisconsin defense can dig in, remember
the Badgers will receive in the second half Jilan Ryola
thirteen to sixteen for one hundred and nineteen yards, braidon
lock twelve of eighteen for one fifty seven and a touchdown.
Praska from its own forty eight yard line. Isaiah and
Ney or Why to the right of all Banks in

(01:19:57):
the slot and that Johnson the running look Lindameyer the
tight end motions left to right. Riola takes hands off
Johnson up the middle of the fifty trying to cut
to his right end, thrown down by Elijah Hills at
the forty five yard line of Wisconsin. First down Nebraska
with a minute fifty five left of the break.

Speaker 8 (01:20:14):
Yeah, Nebraska's doing a really nice job of passing off
what Wisconsin is doing, slanting and then getting up on
that second level.

Speaker 9 (01:20:21):
That was a really nice job by their front.

Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
Clock is running a minute forty five remaining fourteen to
ten Nebraska a late second quarter. They are to the right,
Banks to the left, Johnson the running back, Linda Meyer
the tight end motion's left breaks back the way shotgun snap,
Riola looking against the floor man rush over the middle,
wide open. Jamal Banks makes the catch, gets wrapped up
by Christian Allegro at the thirty yard line of Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (01:20:45):
First down Nebraska, way too much time in the pocket.
He's got a clean pocket. He just fires head and
nobody there to make a play.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Well, Husker's on the move. Or the minute twenty five
left till halftime at the Badger's thirty yard line, first
in ten, double wide to the left, Riola takes pressure
coming little safety blitz right side past Lynden Meyer. They
get inside the twenty five down near the twenty two
yard line. They're just chipping away on this possession is Nebraska.
They'll mark it the twenty two of the Badgers. They

(01:21:14):
get back on the ball with one minute left in
the half, but they still have a time out in
their pocket. Double wide to the left, Riola will give
it to Emmett Johnson and he will knife his way
through for the first down inside the twenty yard line
down to about the eighteen Max Lofi over there for Wisconsin.
That'll stop the clock to move the chain. Fifty two
seconds left and a half. Now it's running down the

(01:21:36):
fifty seconds left, fourteen to ten. Nebraska. Husker's looking for
more laked in the second quarter, forty two seconds. Two
receivers lefts, one to the rights. Emmit Johnson remains the
running back and Riola looking pop fly right side. Once
it all, it is caught by near and they will

(01:21:57):
say touchdown Nebraska able to height wrap the chuck about
five yards deep right edge of the end zone. That
is twenty to ten Nebraska late in the second quarter.

Speaker 9 (01:22:11):
I don't know that about that.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Boys they had they eye balled it had the official
right there. It's close.

Speaker 8 (01:22:20):
We'll see that's his right foot and I don't know
if it got all grass or all turf.

Speaker 9 (01:22:25):
Looked like it was right on the customer very close.

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Yeah, that right foot, that right toe they have and
they had tapped in the end zone and not on
the truck. They will review.

Speaker 5 (01:22:36):
It's a completed pass for a touchdown. The plays under
further review.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
If it stands, it would be the sixth touchdown catch
of the season for Isaiah and Neyor, the six to four,
two hundred and twenty pounds receiver. It's his third college stop.
He's been to Wyoming, he's been to the University of Texas,
and they're reviewing to see if that touchdown is in

(01:23:04):
fact a touchdowns right edge of the end zone. We
have thirty seconds left in the first half. At the moment,
it's twenty to ten Nebraska, so they were that right.
So and again it's Raizer's edge if he is on
the green part of the end zone or on the chalk.

(01:23:29):
Xavier Lucas was providing the coverage. Either way, it's.

Speaker 8 (01:23:34):
Pretty good cocking to catch and great body control. It
is you said it Matt Razer's edge. Whether or not
he was able to get that right toe down because
his whole foot and shin came down right, I would
have to just bend the toes and if he did
pull this off, it's one whale of a catch.

Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
Ruling on the field is touchdown. So you need the
indisputable video evidence that it isn't looking.

Speaker 8 (01:24:01):
Front of pad here, right, Is that what we're always
looking for. If there's no pad time, yeah, that's a
good sign. Then you got to go back to that spot.
But it's a it's a good example here and very
similar Scoonson brought some pressure. We had it down here
and we threw it out of bounds here. He has
to go make a play, and he made a play.
It's just whether or not he made a great play.
Or if it was an incompletion.

Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
Taking a little time here, we're I thought we were
about to get a verdict, but on Snodgrass the referees
still with the headset on over there you note, do
you see a sad bring it here's three.

Speaker 10 (01:24:39):
Years an incomplete ass stuck it down clock operator, Please
reset the game clock to thirty one seconds, three.

Speaker 5 (01:24:49):
To one, thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
So with thirty one seconds left in the half, let's
backtracker wiscons An eighteen yard line, so take away the
touchdown passed to Isaiah and Nayer, who again will line
up to the right with Xavier Lucas on him. So
Corey Barney in the slot receivers to the left and
Riola looking right again, we'll try the right side and

(01:25:15):
overshoots Barney and completing the end zone. Austin Brown on
the coverage and it's third in ten Nebraska at the
eighteen yard line of Wisconsin with twenty seven seconds left
in the half.

Speaker 9 (01:25:26):
Yeah, really good coverage by Brown.

Speaker 8 (01:25:27):
There are just kind of matching up and standing and
not getting too handsy and panicking on that.

Speaker 9 (01:25:32):
Throw, and not enough loft from Royola.

Speaker 8 (01:25:35):
I think if they were going to try to make
that play but I thought Brown did a good job
of just fighting through it and setting up this third
and ten.

Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
Two receivers left, two receivers right from the Wisconsin eighteen
yard line. Third and ten. Em Johnson the running back,
Roola fact to throw, looking pressure, throws left side end zone,
and that's a com played flag down though, as I'll
get Ricardo Hallman Jamal Banks the intended receiver. There's a
costly penalty here against the Badgers coming up.

Speaker 10 (01:26:05):
Bess interference defense number two. Well, we placed the spot
of the foul first.

Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
Down twenty two seconds left and a half and it's
now first in Gold, Nebraska at the five. So again,
the mistakes are critical moments.

Speaker 9 (01:26:26):
It was definitely a lead of contact.

Speaker 8 (01:26:28):
I'm not going to fight that pass interference of legal contact.
But the play it looked like almost not a double move,
but it was a Ricardo kind of got flat footed
and he reached and grabbed it.

Speaker 9 (01:26:39):
When you do that, you're gonna get caught.

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
We come out three receivers to the right. Emma Johnson
is the running back to Corey Partney in motion to
the left. Riola looking left, looking has time, throws left
side of the end zone. Banks is driven out of bound.
Hope they'll say touchdown again back line of the end zone.
Banks with the catch, probably need to look.

Speaker 6 (01:26:59):
At it again.

Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
But at the moment again it's twenty to ten Nebraska.
Boy again, Ryola with plenty of time, Banks with the catch,
and this time it'll stand. Ricardo Hollman try to drive
him out of bounds, but Banks using that six '
four frame to go up and get it, got the

(01:27:22):
left foot down and the lead is ten for Nebraska.
With the extra point coming up.

Speaker 8 (01:27:27):
You said it way too much time. You get ahead,
popcorn and a snack. He was able to stand back
there and put it in the perfect spot to get
one foot in.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
John hole out for the extra point. It is in
the air and it is good. That was a ten play,
seventy six yard drive that took three minutes for the Huskers.
Seventeen seconds remaining in the second quarter. Nebraska twenty one,
Wisconsin ten. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification, ten

(01:27:57):
for an ID. This is badger football. 'mlear field five
yard flip from Dylan Riola to Jamal Banks and it's
twenty one to ten Nebraska with seventeen seconds left in
the first half. Riola is sixteen of twenty one for
one hundred and forty seven yards. In this first half

(01:28:17):
of play.

Speaker 9 (01:28:18):
Just been way too easy. And even when we've.

Speaker 8 (01:28:20):
Been able to get stops yet, you have to at
least make a quarterback uncomfortable that drive there. It was
way too much time at in the football and he
could do whatever he wanted.

Speaker 3 (01:28:31):
Ryan Bushini's kicked sales beyond the back line of the
end zone. So with seventeen seconds left, the Badgers will
be at their twenty five yard line, and see how
this staff wants to play that Nate Nate letting falling
down the plays for the booth. They will line up.

(01:28:54):
They're wondering whether they're going to take a knee here.
The answer is no. They've got Tawee Walker in the backfield,
two receivers right, one on the left. Let's see what
they roll with here, and Locke will give it to
Walker up the middle across the twenty five yards and
the ball popped out. It's loose, it's covered up by Nebraska.
You gotta be kidding me. Nebraska football. With nine seconds

(01:29:17):
left in the half.

Speaker 8 (01:29:23):
I think that was Robinson that he was fighting through
and Walker fighting for extra yards. I think he's kind
of corraling and he was able to pull that football
out in.

Speaker 3 (01:29:36):
So the Huskers there's some kind of a uh didn't
hear what rod Ron Snodgrass was saying there, but Nebraska
had the ball. The thirty one of Wisconsin put a
little time back on the clock eleven seconds left in
the half, so here we go. Huskers still have a

(01:30:00):
timeout available so they can steal some points here at
the end of the first half, twenty one to ten Nebraska,
four receivers to either side. Emma Johnson is the running back.
Roola back to throw. Badger's sending four right side pass
and it's pulled down by Barney. It's smacked down of

(01:30:22):
bounds by Xavier Lucas inside the twenty down on the
nineteen yard line, gain of twelve in a first down
with six seconds left in the half and now not
taking any chances, Matt Rule will send on the field
goal team, where as the Badger's trying to gift wrapped
three points here to Nebraska at the end of the half.

(01:30:48):
This will be a thirty seven yard field goal try
from the right hash mark. Here's the snaff ball down
the kick in the air and it is good three
gift points at the Badgers give to Nebraska, and Wisconsin

(01:31:09):
trails by fourteen at the half. Well two seconds left
in it, actually, so Nebraska will be kicking off yet again.

Speaker 8 (01:31:20):
Well you ask how you you know, are a five
and five football team, And we've seen a lot of
glimpses of why that's the case, because here you have
three time outs.

Speaker 9 (01:31:31):
There's what how much time was left.

Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
On the clock with a half a minute football?

Speaker 8 (01:31:34):
Yeah, so I'm not opposed to try to get that
first nudge playing. If you get a big run, all right,
maybe you still have to hold on to the football
and it's just one air after another, and you know
you don't take advantage of it. They do, and that's
why you're potentially going to be down here for a half.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
So Bushini set the kick off again, twenty four to
ten Nebraska with two seconds left of the break. Bushini's
kick in the air and then Anthony will let this
hit into the end zone for the touchback. So one
more snap here in the first half will play for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:32:13):
Go here.

Speaker 8 (01:32:13):
If you have that fake kneel down and go up top,
that might be something you're trying to steal something to Ey.
There's gonna have to be I'll be curious what this
halftime and what Patrick's able to garner because this has
been a very disappointing half of football from the Wisconsin Patris.

Speaker 3 (01:32:28):
Very much of the missed opportunity realm yet again. As
now they will go ahead and take the knee and
that's the end of the first half. So you know,
the Huskers offense has it going twenty four points a game,
that's better than their season average per game, and Matt
rules group with a fourteen point lead going into the
locker room. Wisconsin Football brought to you by Rail Transport,

And we welcome you into Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska,
our American Family Insurance Halftime Report. I'm Mike Keller. It
is twenty four to ten Nebraska the break. This is
a Cornhusker team that has really struggled to score offensively.
They opened the game with a forty five yard kick
return turned that into a touchdown drive. Wisconsin answers on

(01:36:12):
their own six play eighty two yard touchdown drive to
make it seven to seven. Not quite six and a
half minutes into the game, Wisconsin got a break from
Nebraska on a turnover that Wisconsin took over with the
ball at the seventeen yard line of Nebraska, and they
end up doing nothing with it and missing a field goal.

(01:36:35):
Nebraska answered with an eight play eighty yard drive to
go up fourteen to seven. Then Wisconsin answered eleven play
seventy three yards, but again they miss a field goal.
Two miss field goals in the first half, Nebraska hit
on a ten play seventy six yard touchdown drive, and
then with seventeen seconds left in the first half. After

(01:36:55):
that touchdown drive and a at the time twenty one
to ten, Nebraska lead Wisconsin. With seventeen seconds left at
their own twenty five, did run the football rather than
take a knee, and Walker fumbled six yards later. Nebraska
converted that into a field goal in the final moments

(01:37:16):
of the first half, and that's the lead. It is
Nebraska twenty four and Wisconsin ten. Dylan Royl is seventeen
to twenty two, one hundred and fifty nine yards and
a touchdown. Braydon Locke has not played poorly by any
stretch twelve of eighteen, one point fifty seven and a
touchdown as well, but the Badger's two miss field goals

(01:37:37):
and the fumble giving Nebraska three free points at the
end of the first half. That's a nine point gift overall,
and it is twenty four to ten Nebraska at the break.

is presented by ho Chunk Gaming Madison, ho Chunk Gaming

Number two Ohio State, on their home field up the Horseshoe,
beat fifth ranked and previously unbeaten Indiana thirty eight to fifteen.

(01:41:01):
Buck Guy's got a seventy nine yard punt return of
the game and also scored in the final minute and
change of the game, not an unimportant detail, thirty eight
to fifteen. They beat Indiana. The Hoosiers are ten to one,
seven to one in the league. Ohio State improves to
ten and one and seven and one in the conference.
Also number turned twenty five Illinois won on the road
and beat Rutgers thirty eight thirty one. Maryland was beaten

(01:41:25):
on their home field by Iowa twenty nine to thirteen.
It is now in the final thirty seconds. Twenty seconds
is the first half. Minnesota leads Penn State nineteen sixteen.
Minnesota leading Penn State. Penn State is fourth ranked in

are being built. Coal is being phased out, but the
wind doesn't always blow. The sun doesn't always shine. We
need reliable energy available on demand to keep our data centers, manufacturing, plants,
and homes all operating. Natural gas electric generation is necessary

(01:44:37):
for Wisconsin. It provides the bridge we need to a
renewable energy future. Wisconsin Infrastructure Investment now ask you to
support natural gas again.

Speaker 23 (01:44:49):
I'm with you at Memorial Stadium at the half it
is Nebraska twenty four and Wisconsin ten, and we welcome
in Bill Schmid, one of the hosts of the post game.

Speaker 9 (01:44:58):
So long with Lance Allen.

Speaker 23 (01:44:59):
And this is why teams have the record that they do,
because you can't hide from who you are when you
get this deep in the season. And Wisconsin has just
been mistake prone. In the first half, they made a
field goal, but they had a delay a game before
they snapped it.

Speaker 9 (01:45:12):
Then they missed that field goal.

Speaker 23 (01:45:14):
They have a fumble at the end of the first
half with seventeen seconds left. They had previously missed another
field goal. There's a reason why Wisconsin is five and five.

Speaker 28 (01:45:23):
Yeah, and when it rains, it pours, Mike, I mean,
I think that's always been a fact and it continues
to be here for the Badgers, you got to be
able to help yourself. That's a part of it and
what you just addressed, however, and I think that this
is one part of it and a little bit of
a positive. You haven't seen the fight fall out of
this team in the midst of a weird week. So

(01:45:44):
you get the ball here to start the second half.
You can make it a one possession game. But man,
you got to be able to capitalize. And that's one
thing you put it into you know me and field
goal kickers, Mike, you put it into the special team's hands.
You're never going to give yourself the best opportunity you
can win the game.

Speaker 23 (01:46:00):
There'll be some second guessing on the seventeen seconds on
the game clock. The ball at your own twenty five
yard line and you run the ball in the middle
of the line and you ended up turning it over.
Now A, you can't fumble. B there's gonna be some
questions about the decision not to take a knee.

Speaker 28 (01:46:16):
Ah yeah, I mean, I see, I want to I
get three timeouts.

Speaker 9 (01:46:20):
I want to go with it.

Speaker 28 (01:46:21):
First thing is again, Mike, and when luck strikes you
on the negative side, it's hard to slow that down.
That helmet goes right on to Tawie Walker's funny bone
and that ball squirts out. In a game, when it
seems like the ball is bouncing Nebraska's way, you gotta
find some ways to slow that momentum down because it's
long thirty minutes, it's long way home. And trust me

(01:46:42):
on that sideline as well. They know they're five and five,
So you get a couple of mistakes to go their
way and you can have a little bit different second half.

Speaker 23 (01:46:50):
Here interesting to see in the final minute or so
that we have you with the interesting to see and
you brought up the fight in this team as they
come out of the locker room with the ball to
begin the second half. But Wisconsin hasn't played poorly on
offense today. Two missfield goals are part of the issue.
But they've thrown the ball and they run the ball, okay,
but the throw game has been pretty good.

Speaker 28 (01:47:11):
They've pushed the ball down the field, Mike, and you
know how much I like getting the ball into Vinnie
Anthony's hands. See more of that in the second half.
But also part of the reason why this game is
where it is. Dylan Rayola has been an issue and
he has played one of the better games that we've
seen him play here in twenty twenty four. Defensively, you
gotta get more pressure onto fifteen because he can make

(01:47:33):
some mistakes.

Speaker 9 (01:47:34):
They've seen a lot of them on that side. But
you got to force him.

Speaker 28 (01:47:37):
He's had way too much time to get comfortable in
the back end.

Speaker 23 (01:47:39):
Yeah, Billy, to your point, sixteen to twenty one, one
hundred and forty seven yards and at TD, and he
has not been heated up at all.

Speaker 9 (01:47:46):
Will be interested to see.

Speaker 23 (01:47:48):
How the second half roles. We'll get underway here in

we're all said and done. Coming up, our American Family

Dylan Riola has had a lot of time to scan

when he's been back to throw seventeen to twenty two
for one hundred and fifty nine yards and a touchdown.
Braydon Locke is twelve of eighteen for one hundred and
fifty seven yards and a touchdown. Toddie Walker nine carries
for forty one yards, Emmit Johnson eight totes for fifty
one for the Huskers. Well back to the passing numbers,

(01:51:26):
Roola has really distributed the ball to a variety of sources.
Jamal Banks with four catches including a touchdown catch, Jacory
Barney four catches for forty Emmitt Johnson checking down on
the running back, four for thirty nine, Isaiah Nayor three
for eighteen, Vinnie Anthony four for sixty five forty two,
coming on a pitch and catch in the first possession

(01:51:47):
of the game for the Badgers. Tretch Kakahuna three for
thirty nine, couple of catches for Bryson Green, including a
touchdown grab, and Chris Brooks with a twenty seven yard reception.
His father was a was a Husker back. Several years ago.
We played a little fullback for Nebraska and we mentioned

(01:52:07):
for Chris it's been a frustrating career just for him
trying to stay healthy. But he's been getting reps today
and Chris Brooks Junior making Chris Brooks Senior proud. He
wasn't all that many years ago, but a couple of
decades ago that his dad was playing here in Lincoln.
Twenty four to ten, Nebraska leeds Wisconsin. The Badgers will
receive here with the second half kickoff.

Speaker 8 (01:52:29):
Obviously the first half was sloppy and not up to
what Wisconsin was trying to get done. So now you know,
just walking milling around out here with.

Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
Great cookies up here, well they're top notch.

Speaker 8 (01:52:41):
Milling around and you kind of heard a couple of
Nebraska you can see the excitement say it all, it's
going to come down to this first drive, and I
do think this is going to be a critical component
because we just gift drapped them three points. We were
unable to take advantage of the Ben Barton interception, so
the it just it was a behalf of football. So

(01:53:01):
now you can kind of rectify that and reset this.
And I think you have a crowd that is sitting
here and they're excited, but I think there's still a
little bit of, oh well if this drive I think
is really going to be critical to get back on
track here, because then that second quarter got away from
the Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 3 (01:53:18):
Man. For the Huskers, it's about avoiding one score games,
or their last twenty six games decided by no more
than one score. They're four and twenty two up a
couple of scores. Now, Brian Bushini set the kickoff. Badgers
will receive, go right to left, Vinnie Anthony and Kate Yakamelli.
Your deep the steer this one of Yakamelli left side
of the ten k to the fifteenth up across the twenty,

(01:53:40):
weaving across the twenty five yard line up to the
twenty six or twenty seven, and that's where the Badgers
will begin first and ten they'll market at the twenty
six in Wisconsin territory.

Speaker 8 (01:53:50):
So when you look at what we had in the
first half, I was surprised by what our defense was
unable to do.

Speaker 9 (01:53:56):
And that all started with just no pressure at all.

Speaker 8 (01:54:00):
It's been way too easy for Dylan Riola today. Everything
has been patting the football now. I think Wisconsin. Walker's
had a couple of nice runs. He's averaging four to six,
but big plays, and I think finding ways to just
get first downs plotting the way down the field.

Speaker 9 (01:54:16):
Here we need it.

Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
So all we Walker the running back to receivers left
one on the right hand off Walker trying to hit
the left edge and MJ. Sherman is having none of it.
They've senior linebacker up to make the hit at the
line of scrimmage, and it's chuck it down in ten
for the Badgers at their own twenty six yard line.

Speaker 9 (01:54:31):
Just no threat on the backside.

Speaker 8 (01:54:33):
He would never even looked at from a bootleg standpoint anything.
I was just chased down from the right side of
Wisconsin and just flew down the line flat with Locke,
not even thinking about booting it out there until we
see a little bit of that.

Speaker 9 (01:54:46):
That's what Nebraska's gonna keep doing.

Speaker 3 (01:54:47):
Green and Kekahuna to the right, Vinnie Anthony to the left.
On second down, a little pressure coming up the middle,
lock under siege, shuffling left, hit as he throws. It's incomplete.
Bring in some line pressure on braidon Locke and it's
now third down and ten. But the Badgers at their
twenty six yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:55:05):
Very fortunate that he's outside of the pocket because I
didn't see any Badger near I know he got hit
as he threw it, and that, but the rule and
the Nebraska staff was begging for an intentional grounding, but
he did get drilled, got rid of it.

Speaker 9 (01:55:18):
Third and ten.

Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
Here we go, Green, Kekahuna and Noah Kowski come out
to the right, Vinnie Anthony to the left. Walker is
the running back. Although Wisconsin twenty six yard line, third
down and ten, just underway third quarter, Kekahuna motions to
the formation, lock back to throw, lets it go. Reich
signed high passing incomplete. Wanted Kekahuna, who had a little

(01:55:40):
bit of space with the ball sailing beyond him at
a three and out for this Wisconsin offense to begin
the third quarter.

Speaker 8 (01:55:47):
It almost looked like Locke was expecting him to maybe
come out of that break quicker, because he kind of
put his.

Speaker 9 (01:55:52):
Hand up, but he usually doesn't do that.

Speaker 8 (01:55:54):
I think he was thinking Tretch should have been a
little flatter. Maybe Tretch felt like he got held and grasped.
I know that's what Luke fit was talking to the
ref about us.

Speaker 3 (01:56:01):
Oh, here's Atticus Bertram's on the punt. Isaiah Garcia Castaneda
deep for of the Huskers snap to Bird Troums. You'll
have to go down and get it. The kick is away.
Emma Johnson was back there with them, and Castaneda will
catch at the twenty yard We'll make that Jacory Barney
catching across the twenty across the twenty five yard line.

(01:56:22):
You know it was ja Cory Barney and not Isaiah
Garcia Castaneda. Is Barney will bring it up to about
the twenty seven yard line. Fifty five yard punt. Six
on the return. We're fifty eight seconds into the third quarter.
It's twenty four to ten, Nebraska leading Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (01:56:40):
Well, it was not the start. That was the start.

Speaker 8 (01:56:42):
The Nebraska folks wolfing down cookies out here. We're hoping
for but not from our standpoint to go three and
out and only take fifty seconds that you put it
back on your defense and.

Speaker 9 (01:56:52):
It has not been. You just need more pressure. We
need Tom try and make some things happen.

Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
Here we go Dylan Ryola, and that was kind of
the Rasca offense. Ryola to throw over the middle, and
it's Jarred Lewis incomplete, Jamal Banks the intended receiver, and
Austin Brown back there as that fall was hanging in
the air. For an instance, Christin a Legro getting in
there defensively. He's second down and ten for the Huskers

(01:57:18):
at their own twenty seven yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:57:20):
And that's how you make big plays. Get guys rally
into the football. Austin Brown doesn't niceo, but Llegro's right
there forcing a tight throw, and Brown came up and
gave a lick and getting that fall on the turf.

Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
Trips to the left. Emma Johnson is the running back,
as Ryola will give it to Johnson off the right
side across a thirty still up thirty five, cutting right
across the forty yard line, puts a steff arm on
Zachman and Emma Johnson across the forty five to the
forty six yard line and a first down four Nebraska.

Speaker 9 (01:57:45):
Yeah, no edge got set there.

Speaker 8 (01:57:46):
You pulled the right guard in the center and was
able to kick it out and you saw it developing
up here. It was way too much space there for Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
And Jake Cheney is down and hurts you senior linebacker,
and he is in a lot of pain right now.
We're a minute twenty seconds into the third quarter, twenty
four to ten, Nebraska leading Wisconsin. Is Jake trying to
get to his feet, so, I mean he is fighting

(01:58:16):
to stand up and he gets up, but he's going
to need some assistance and putting no weight on that
left leg.

Speaker 9 (01:58:23):
Yeah, I think Unfortunately he's chasing the football. I think
it was double contact.

Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
We'll go ahead and take a break or a minute
twenty into the third quarter. Nebraska twenty four Wisconsin ten.

at the thirty six yard line of the foreside. Make
it the thirty seven of Wisconsin a gain of five.

Speaker 8 (02:01:50):
Some mistackles today it's been a little more uncharacteristic. Early
in the game, we were kind of talking about our
secondary Rico came in and just swung and missed on it.
Gotta get him down.

Speaker 3 (02:01:59):
Earlier, lot left, lot right on second down and five
to give Emma Johnson as a little room up the middle,
little jump cut, little shoop move, I should say, off
to the right inside the thirty five and down near
the thirty two, which is the line to gain. Let's
see if that's good enough. I think it is, and
it is first down Nebraska.

Speaker 9 (02:02:21):
A lot of room there.

Speaker 8 (02:02:22):
That was We've seen Nebraska pull that center and guard
and then everybody has to fly out there because.

Speaker 9 (02:02:27):
They've been able to get to the edge.

Speaker 8 (02:02:29):
That was the case where they did that, and the
whole in the middle of the field was wide open
and they were able to pick up a first down.

Speaker 3 (02:02:35):
Three minutes gone by third quarter, twenty four to ten.
Nebraska Huskers back on the move, pistol formation, odd first down,
the hand off to Emma Johnson straight ahead inside the
thirty yard line of Wisconsin. Elijah Hills getting in there first,
and it's Ben Barton doing the rest of the work
of the twenty seven of the Badgers a gain of
five too.

Speaker 8 (02:02:55):
Much pushing the interior part. Nebraska did a good job
of moving guys in the gitting up onto that linebacker,
just too much.

Speaker 9 (02:03:02):
Five yards on first out.

Speaker 3 (02:03:03):
They're right back at it, double light to the left.
Johnson remains the running back Ryola. I guess the SNAM
Badgers trying to rush for Riola taking a shot and
left side deep. Neyor threw his hands incomplete. Riccardo Hallman
on the coverage had it turned back for it. Not
an easy catch, but one that could have been made.
Ney Or unable to grab it. It's third and five

(02:03:24):
Nebraska at the Wisconsin twenty seven yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:03:27):
Very fortunate there he ended up high pointing it and
he just dropped it. It was it could have maybe
led him a little bit, but his body got contorted
back in the end zone.

Speaker 9 (02:03:35):
And very fortunate that that ball fell to the turf.

Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
Third down and five for the Huskers bought the twenty
seven yard line of Wisconsin. Barney slot right, he will
motion to the left. Well, Yola check it out. The defense.
Thanks the SNAM Badgers bringing four pious getting the push
on Viola who steps up into the pocket. We'll throw
it and it's incomplete. Luke Lindenmeyer the intended receiver Austin
Brown on the coverage of the fifteen of the ear side,

(02:04:01):
And that time the Badgers did get some pressure on
John Pius, shoving his guy back. He had him on skates.
He had Bryce ben Hard on skates. And it's fourth down.
On comes the field goal team and.

Speaker 9 (02:04:14):
I've been just bagging. Please let's get some pressure on Roola.

Speaker 8 (02:04:17):
And that was the case that Pius just bullied bowled
right up on that right tackle and shoved him right
into Royola's lap. The hat forced him to get out
of the pocket, and Hey getting off the field, forcing
a field goal.

Speaker 3 (02:04:27):
Attenn Forty five yard attempt for John holl who is

We have eleven minutes and eighteen seconds left to the
third quarter, twenty seven to ten. Nebraska leads Wisconsin to
John Hall forty five yard field goal, giving the Huskers
a seventeen point lead. As Brian Pusheny on the run
up and the kick is away, Yachamelle will catch left

(02:07:22):
side at the one. He is to the five to
the ten, fifteen cuts across twenty five thirty Yachamelly across
the thirty five yard line. Maybe he went out of bounds,
just shy of. It's still a good return from Caid Yakamelly.
They'll mark him out at the thirty three of Wisconsin
and a first down kid. Yakamelli, the Red Church sophomore
out of Pennsylvania, saw it in the backfield earlier this season.

(02:07:45):
He average is better than eight yards of tote in
that reserve role. Now when we see him touch it,
it has been as a return man. Badger's starting at
their thirty three. So here's lock. In the Wisconsin offense.
Drrion Dupri is in it. Running back Benny Anthony wide left,

(02:08:06):
motions to the right, Kson Green wide to the right.
Snap the lock, you'll hand it to Dupree trying to
hit the right edge of the thirty five yard line.
Derrion dupri fighting his way to the thirty nine on
a game of six go to hard yards from Derreon Duprie.
Second down and four for the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (02:08:23):
Nice job by Hubert getting out up on that second
level and Vinny Anthony getting just enough on his guy.
That was I love dupre there, just running hard, going
full speed that whole way.

Speaker 9 (02:08:34):
Got the corners able to get a nice, nice six
yard picked up here to start this second drive.

Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
Of the half inch it a little bit closer to
the forty yard line, So second down and three plus change.
Dupree stays in the game to the right of Braydon Locke,
Anthony and Kekahuna come out to the left and a
little bit up front. Penalty markers fly.

Speaker 9 (02:08:56):
That's brunner.

Speaker 5 (02:09:00):
We'll start offense fifty six by.

Speaker 3 (02:09:04):
Yard penalty, so it'll be a second down and about
eight ten thirty left in the third quarter. Twenty seven
to ten, Nebraska leeds Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (02:09:16):
That's another just one of those things.

Speaker 8 (02:09:19):
You get that great run, get that first down, you
get in position, and then you give five of it
right back.

Speaker 9 (02:09:25):
You have to overcome and keep fighting.

Speaker 8 (02:09:26):
It's just everything making everything a little more difficult than
it needs to be.

Speaker 3 (02:09:31):
Green to the right, Anthony to the left, Slock will
take reads, keeps throws over the metal caught by Bryson
Green across midfield and the Nebraska territory. A pretty good
shot there from Braiden lock to Bryce and Green. Bly
Hill on the tackle first down at the Nebraska forty
eight yard.

Speaker 8 (02:09:50):
Line, and just an RPO that was you saw Wisconsin's
O line.

Speaker 9 (02:09:53):
It definitely look run from up here.

Speaker 8 (02:09:55):
Helmets down and that opens up the middle of that
field for that slant and we've had a lot of
success with that early in the game.

Speaker 9 (02:10:02):
Continue to look to do more of that.

Speaker 3 (02:10:03):
I was trying to get lined up. Green comes out
wide to the right on first down, Lock back to throw,
looking you'll check it down. Dariy Andrew bree at the
forty five yard line to the forty yard line and
is driven down inside the forty or right at the
forty of Nebraska rd able to check down there. Stefan Thompson,
a linebacker on the tackle second down in two for

(02:10:25):
Wisconsin with nine twenty five left to the third quarter,
Badger's trailing by seventeen.

Speaker 8 (02:10:30):
Brunner at left guard did a fantastic job a reset
in his hands. He was getting Bold was able to
continue to reset. That gave Locke enough time to check
that football.

Speaker 3 (02:10:38):
Down Kircahouna and Anthony to the left. CJ. Williams in
there wide to the right, lock reads, keeps throws and
it goes behind CJ. Williams incomplete. Braydon just buzzing that
one behind the wide receiver and it's now third and
two for a Wisconsin at the Nebraska forty yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:10:54):
Yeah, and Braiden kind of put his arm up, but
I don't know if he'd sailed it or if he
expected CJ to be at a different spot, But that
was a slant and he completely airmailed it over his
right shoulder.

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Third down and two for the Badgers. Wisconsin's two out
of seven converting on third down.

Speaker 9 (02:11:12):
FOURD down territory.

Speaker 3 (02:11:14):
Here and they go little full house of the backfield,
hand off todm Wie Walker and he'll barrel his way
for the first down and more power is his way
inside the thirty five to the thirty three yard line
of Nebraska. Isaac Gifford on the tackle first down Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:11:31):
Jackson Aker did a fantastic job. He went up and
met that linebacker in the hole. It would not have
been a first down. He kept moving his feet and
that gave Walker, who he always finishes his run strong,
continued to plow forward and is able to pick up
three or four more yards on a gritty third and
two pickup.

Speaker 3 (02:11:49):
Green and Kekahuna come out to the right. CJ. Williams
to the left, Walker the running back line of scrimmage
of the Nebraska thirty three yard line. Kakahuna in motion to
the left. Lock, We'll give it to you, Tom. Nothing there.
It really wasn't much chance there for Tawee Walker, Prince
will Humani Allen getting in there defensively for the Huskers.
Second down and ten for the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (02:12:10):
Just you can't let guys run into the backfield untouched.

Speaker 9 (02:12:13):
And that was the case.

Speaker 8 (02:12:14):
You never even let how We get started. It was
right in the hole immediately after he got the football.
And for as hard as how We runs, you have
to cover guys up and give him a chance.

Speaker 9 (02:12:23):
Didn't do it that time.

Speaker 3 (02:12:24):
So it's second and ten at the Nebraska thirty three
yard line. Nowakowski slot left, Kekahuna slot right, well, Tretch
will motion to the left. Three receivers out side of
the formation, pressure coming, Lock swings it down. Derryandre pre
at the thirty five yard line. He's to the thirty.
Duo Pre is driven out of bounds by ty Robinson.
Progress stopped inbounds at about the twenty seven yard line

(02:12:46):
of the Huskers gain of six. It's now third down
and four for the Badgers.

Speaker 9 (02:12:51):
Really good play call there. Nebraska decided to heat it
up and you.

Speaker 8 (02:12:54):
Just a quick little swing pass out. You got Riley
Maulman out there. I thought Bryson Green did just enough
to hold off his guy that was able to get
some positive yards on on a blitz that Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (02:13:06):
Brought seven fifteen left, third quarter, twenty seven to ten
Nebraska Badgers of a third and fourth the Huskers twenty
seven yard line. Two receivers left, one on the right
lock take, so he'll give it to Dupre gets hit
right away and Darian is able to fight for two
yards to the twenty seven of Nebraska, where it's now
fourth down and two. As four down territory. Here is

(02:13:29):
JP Benshaw checking in. They're going to get some extra beef.
They're in the line of scrimmage for Wisconsin. It's fourth
and two at the Nebraska twenty five yard line, and.

Speaker 8 (02:13:39):
You do that knowing you run the football on third
and four. They're knowing this is four down territory. Now
get your best play dialed up here on fourth.

Speaker 3 (02:13:46):
And two, well the extra offensive lineman Benshaw lining up
to the left of the left tackle Jack Nelson, Aker
to the left of lock Walker's behind him, hand off
for Walker and he is stoned. On fourth and two,
John balla Makai Bear are there as the Badgers are
turned back, and yet another opportunity fails miserably, and we've

(02:14:09):
got a time out here in Lincoln six minutes, twenty
five seconds left of the third quarter. Nebraska twenty seven,
Wisconsin ten. This is Badger football front leer Field.

the Huskers will take over at their twenty six yard line.

Speaker 9 (02:16:38):
Fourth and two.

Speaker 8 (02:16:39):
You have Ben shall in as an extra offensive lineman.
You run it that way and it went nowhere quick.

Speaker 3 (02:16:46):
T dalt Dell is at running back. They're in the
pistol now on first and ten, and Ryola will get
it to dal Dell if the right side turns it
back up the hash marks across the thirty yard line
and up to the thirty five Austin on the stop
gain of nine. And this is now where you fear
this Wisconsin defense really start to wear down. We'll see

(02:17:09):
what Dana Holgerson dials up here. You may just try
to pound away here at this Wisconsin defense. We'll see
second down and one at the Nebraska thirty eight five
yard line. Ryola, we'll weaed it, keep it throwing it.
Nate Borkicher, the tight end the catch made a man

(02:17:29):
miss across the forty forty five yard line across midfield
and into Wisconsin territory. Nate Borkishier the tight end junior
out of Aurora, Nebraska, down to the forty five yard
line in Wisconsin territory. First and ten for the Huskers.

Speaker 8 (02:17:41):
A little boot and you got Rael out on space
and just brought their tight end underneath. We didn't close
that down quick enough. And then another mistackle. I don't
know how many mistackles there been today, but it's been
way too many.

Speaker 3 (02:17:55):
By the way. With Jake Cheney out, you got tack
At Curtis in there alongside Christian Allegro of the forty
six little endo round. Jacorey Barney has roomed to the
forty five to the forty of Wisconsin. He'll step in
the mounds at the thirty five yard line. Nice here,
Fort Kreen and tack At Curtis getting over there. Eleven
more yards and a first down Nebraska at the thirty
five yard line of Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:18:15):
Aaron Wit got kind of caught a little bit, went
down a little bit more further than he should have,
and that you allowed the edge to happen, and that
was as about an easy a ten yard pickup as
you're going to have.

Speaker 3 (02:18:27):
So another threats you're brewing four Nebraska with under five
minutes left in the third quarter, Riola, is it to
Daldell trying to hit the right side and making the
stop in the open field? Is John Pius to play
with the Badgers linebacker transferred from William and Mary. Second
down and ten for the Huskers at the Wisconsin thirty five.

Speaker 9 (02:18:49):
Yeah, great job by Pious.

Speaker 8 (02:18:50):
He kind of went down and was able to retrace
his footwork and get back outside and making really nice
open field tackle.

Speaker 3 (02:19:00):
They are banks three receivers actually coming out to the
left fo the Huskers on second and ten, Ryola, We'll
give it to downdlle off the right side inside the
thirty five down to the thirty yard line and Xavier
Lucas will come up to make the hit at the
twenty nine of Wisconsin. Gain is six for Dante Dowdell.
It's third down and four.

Speaker 8 (02:19:20):
Real problem today. Nebraska's pulled that center and right guard
all day and they've been able to get out on
the edge, and now Wisconsin is trying to make sure
there's enough bodies out there when they see that and
they're cutting it back up inside, and there's just it's
amazing how much space there's been on that play for Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (02:19:37):
Third down and four full, the Huskers at the Wisconsin
twenty nine yard line. Jay Aaron Bonner blots out in
motion to the left. Is why Alda throwing wide open
Emma Johnson twenty fifteen ten five and finally pulled out
of bounds by Preston Zachman. Room service pitch and catch
to him at Johnson first and goal, Nebraska at the three.

Speaker 8 (02:20:00):
I have just been a communication breakdown because they ran
a guy in motion and they saw it was Manda Man.
Wisconsin had Manda Man, and they just leaked their back
out and nobody was near him. That's way too easy.

Speaker 3 (02:20:13):
Three twenty four left of the third quarter, twenty seven
to ten, Nebraska, three yards away from blowing this one
wide open if it isn't already double wide to the
left pistol, said Daldell behind Ryola, who takes a snap.
He'll give it to dal Dell up the middle. Touchdown
Nebraska Dante dow Dell from three yards away. Man. It's

(02:20:37):
thirty three to ten Nebraska. Here were the third quarter.

Speaker 8 (02:20:44):
Been saying this phrase way too much today, just too easy,
wide open, all kinds of space again down on the
goal line. I don't think he got touched until he
was right at the goal line. And guys are getting
rolled off the ball, and when safeties are people are
coming up missing tackles.

Speaker 9 (02:21:00):
It's way too much of that. This afternoon.

Speaker 3 (02:21:04):
Extra point coming up as Nebraska has blown this one
open here in the third quarter. Pat is good. Seven plays,
seventy four yards, took three minutes and eighteen seconds. We

the thirty nine of Nebraska a gain of thirty two yards.

Speaker 8 (02:25:35):
Just awesome vision there by dupre It's a Joe Brunner
left guard pulled, and what he did was just cut
right back off.

Speaker 9 (02:25:42):
It was a play designed to go to the right.

Speaker 8 (02:25:44):
He cut right off and then let his speed go
in a really nice run there by Dupree.

Speaker 3 (02:25:50):
I'm minute fifty four left of the third quarter. First

Hire a senior in high school. He's got seventy two
straight pins. Yeah, Yeah, he is a He is a
bear of a man, and he's been playing and playing
at a high level for a while.

Speaker 3 (02:26:41):
Doing some pretty good work wrestling at Nebraska as well.
First down, Lock looking to throw going deep right side.
Watch Bryce and Green makes the catch of the end
zone touchdown Wisconsin twenty four yards on the throw from
Braydon Locke to Bryce and Green, who is in for
the second time here this afternoon.

Speaker 8 (02:27:05):
Really good adjustment by Green out of ball, locked to
get rid of that faster Nebraska brought a run blitz
and got in his face, but he released it, kept
the ball in play, and Bryson did a great job
of locating, coming back to it, high pointing the football
and giving us a little bit of a spark man.

Speaker 9 (02:27:23):
Did we need that?

Speaker 6 (02:27:24):
Well.

Speaker 3 (02:27:24):
He missed a lot of time this season, Bryce and
Green missed some time last year, but that was, you know,
part of the book on him. With his strength, he
could get those contested catches, and we have seen him
do it a couple of times in the end zone
here today. So it's thirty four to sixteen Nebraska with
a minute nineteen left in the third quarter. Nathaniel Vako's
on for the pat A little bit of life here

(02:27:49):
for Wisconsin as the extra point is in the air,
and it's good. Let's check out the scoring drive, brought
to you by your local Wisconsin and up four dealers.
Four plays, seventy nine yards, took one minute and forty
four seconds. We'll keep it here. With a minute nineteen
left in the third quarter. Nebraska thirty four Wisconsin seventeen.

Speaker 8 (02:28:10):
Okay, so obviously really nice dupre with a great run
and you know, sticking with that, and then a great
play by Bryson Green and I think you give up
that touchdown and the thing you're starting to wonder where
how much fight does this group got left in it?
And I thought, a great bounce back there from the
Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 9 (02:28:28):
And now you do it quick.

Speaker 8 (02:28:30):
You got a little time if you can find a
way interesting there. I'd have to check out Brett Beielam's
old book. Yeah, and when you should go for.

Speaker 9 (02:28:36):
Two, because it's obviously it's easy from.

Speaker 8 (02:28:39):
Up here to say, well you can get three and
then it's only a three score now it's still a
three score game, so I do wonder if you go
for two. You don't want to chase points at this
point either, but yeah, you're down seventeen with a minute
twenty to go in the third quarter.

Speaker 3 (02:28:52):
We see teams college at the NFL level, they chase
it and this kickoff of Gavin lob Is the back
line of the end zone. Used to be that rule
of thumb, he don't chase points to the fourth quarter,
and you know, with the analytics and all of that,
that theory has largely been shoved aside. Although you just
mentioned Wisconsin kicked here, so still down three scores of

(02:29:13):
min at nineteen left in the third quarter.

Speaker 9 (02:29:15):
But that's the defense.

Speaker 8 (02:29:17):
Obviously, he's been struggling here in the second half, and
that's where you have to pick your guys up, and
they've been out on the field. You need to give
a little spark and for the offense to be able
to go down and do that. Who knows what's going
to happen the rest of this game. That was very
good to see that. Now hopefully these guys all right refocus, rebow.

Speaker 9 (02:29:36):
Up and see if you can't make a stop and
get this thing. Let's make this thing interesting.

Speaker 3 (02:29:40):
Yeah, why not? You got to turn over here, So
all those.

Speaker 9 (02:29:43):
Lines gotta get some pressure on the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (02:29:46):
That would help, That would help to your receivers. Right
one on the left, Ryola back to throw four man
Wisconsin rush Rio all of what time throwing left side,
caught by Barney across the forty yard line and he
has checked to the ground by Nisier for Kurene. Again,
time for Ry and he makes Wisconsin pay up to
the forty one yard line of Wisconsin again of sixteen
and a first down.

Speaker 9 (02:30:05):
Yeah, the coverage was good. You're sitting in his zone.

Speaker 8 (02:30:07):
You had three and maybe even four jerseys there at Roola.

Speaker 9 (02:30:11):
Ken just too easy, is able to drop it right
where he wanted it.

Speaker 3 (02:30:15):
Stack two receivers to the right, one to the left,
Roola hands off. Emmett Johnson trying the left side, got
by tacking Curtis forty five to the fifty yard line,
and finally Austin Brown makes the tackle at the forty
five of Wisconsin, a gain of fourteen more in a
first down and again tackles plaguing Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:30:32):
Way too many today, and that's We've been a pretty
good tackling team.

Speaker 9 (02:30:36):
For the most part this season. Attack it was right there.

Speaker 8 (02:30:40):
It would have been a one or two yard game,
and he just whiffed.

Speaker 3 (02:30:43):
First and ten at the Wisconsin forty five yard line
down at twenty seconds left in the third quarter, thirty
four to seventeen Nebraska Leeds Wisconsin. Rola will go under center, now,
pulls back, give it to Gabe Irvin up the mid
and into the arms of Elijah Hills at the forty
three yard line in Wisconsin territory and a gain of

(02:31:06):
two and we have hit the end of the third
quarter here in Lincoln on the field, Nebraska in control.
Badger's trying to get a stop and make magic in
the fourth quarter, and there was I have to make
a lot of it here down by seventeen. Hocha Gaming, Wisconsin.

Back with you at Memorial Stadium, Mike Keller with a
quick scoreboard update.

Speaker 9 (02:33:24):
Nebraska leeds thirty.

Speaker 23 (02:33:25):
Four seventeenth get thirty four to seventeen, getting ready.

Speaker 9 (02:33:28):
For play one of the fourth quarter.

Speaker 23 (02:33:30):
Earlier today, Ohio, state number two in the country, beat
fifth ranked and unbeaten Indiana thirty eighth fifteen. They scored
a touchdown late that's actually.

Speaker 9 (02:33:39):
Kind of important.

Speaker 23 (02:33:40):
Earlier Illinois twenty fifth ranked in the country, they beat
Rutgers and some top twenty five scores to pay attention to.

Speaker 3 (02:33:47):
You will get to it all right, Thank you, Mike,
appreciate it. We start the fourth quarter, second down at
eight Nebraska the Wisconsin forty three yard line. Huskers go
right to left. Review if they have two receivers right
one on the left out of the pistol. Royola tas
gives it to Emma Johnson by Ben Barton, he got
by Leon Lowry inside the forty yard line, and Christin
Allegro finally slams Johnson down at the thirty seven of Wisconsin,

(02:34:09):
where it's third down and two.

Speaker 8 (02:34:11):
Ben Barton did a great job of fighting off to
a double team and was able to slow him down,
but mistackle, mistackle, and finally Allegro is able to get
him down, but not not until he picked up four
or five yards.

Speaker 3 (02:34:23):
So it's third down and two from the Wisconsin thirty
seven yard line, but Johnson remains the running back out
of the pistol to the lie to the lefts the
ball banks and the slot motions to the right. Royola
gives it the Johnson and he'll get the first down
inside the thirty five yard line. Tacked Curtis and Darryl
Peterson combine on the tackle, first down for the Huskers,

(02:34:48):
about a minute gone by in the fourth quarter. They
lead Wisconsin thirty four to seventeen.

Speaker 8 (02:34:54):
Nothing creative about that play, just a straight up run
off of the left side of Nebraska's offensive line and
got enough movement there to pick up another first down.

Speaker 3 (02:35:05):
I'll take their time as the Huskers into their huddle,
certainly in a position where they can milk the clock.
Dante dal Dell is it at running back. Guiola will
go under his center Ben Scott. Guola pulls back hands
at the dal Dell and he gets into the line
and wrapped up quickly by Elijah Hills at the thirty

(02:35:27):
two yard line, a gain of two second down at
eight for Nebraska.

Speaker 46 (02:35:31):
YEA.

Speaker 8 (02:35:31):
Elijah Hills just has he's uncanny about how he's able
to slip guys and get in the backfield and make
plays that time he is able to get off of
his block and able to bring him down.

Speaker 3 (02:35:43):
I'm minute forty five gone by here on the fourth quarter,
seventeen point lead Nebraska, second down to eight from the
Wisconsin thirty two. Jamal Banks will come out to the
rights ISAA and mayor to the left. Iola back into
the shotgun to throw looking stands at the forty A
lot of time the scan drops it off at his

(02:36:04):
cart at the twenty five them it. Johnson got by
Curtis at the twenty to the fifteen yard line and
stumbles down to the twelve again. Riola with a lot
of time. I mean a ton of it, and it's
first in ten Nebraska at the Wisconsin twelve.

Speaker 8 (02:36:20):
That play right there has epitomize everything about today all day.
For Raila to throw and then mistackle, mistackle, big play.

Speaker 3 (02:36:31):
There's stretches of the season where they were at least
able to get pressures. You know, they weren't getting sacks,
but getting pressures, and that's just not been the case
here of late, and certainly has not been the case
here today. Heinrich Harberg is in a quarterback now, Riola
out wide to the right and reading it, keeping it
Harburg off the left side of there's Christian Allegro getting

(02:36:54):
there right now, taking Harburg down at the eleven yard line.
I'll tell you Christian Allegro, he's a ball player, sophomore
out of Connecticut.

Speaker 9 (02:37:05):
Tenth tackle of the night for him. You're right, and
we really.

Speaker 8 (02:37:09):
Have seen him come on and he's obviously with some injuries,
he's kind of taken that spot and he's run with
it and he's been playing really at a high level,
and that's been a real bright spot on a day
that has been anything but there's.

Speaker 3 (02:37:24):
No gain on the play. Play clock is at eight
and now the Huskers break the huddle. Riola is impatiently
trying to get the signal, and now time out will
be taken by Nebraska. With eleven twenty six left of
the game, the play clock is winding down, first time
out of the half for the Huskers. UW Athletics is

Speaker 9 (02:40:11):
Yeah, I guessing gonna be the last.

Speaker 3 (02:40:14):
Oh yeah, well that won't be because it ain't happening.
Here we go, second down in ten Nebraska at the
Wisconsin twelve yard line. They are out wide to the rights,
tight to the leftist banks. Riola gets the shotgun snap
looking throwing left side may Or the catch inside the
ten yard line, and it's Presston Zachman up to make

(02:40:37):
the tackle at the eighth of the Badgers a gain
of four at its third down and six.

Speaker 8 (02:40:43):
I give Riola a lot of credit. He is just
taking what this defense is given him. He's not trying
to force anything, and when he takes shots there the odds.

Speaker 9 (02:40:52):
Are with him on one on one coverage.

Speaker 3 (02:40:54):
So here we go, third down at the Badger's eight
yard line, here's the Riola throwing on the slant. The
banks of his could plete tight coverage from Riccardo Hallman
as Rayola was trying to connect with Jamal Banks in
the end zone, and on comes the field goal team
full of the Huskers with ten to fifty five to play.

Speaker 8 (02:41:13):
A nice job by Ricardo and that able to get
a little bit of pressure. The ball came out quick
and nice job by Riccardo Hallman and just breaking it
up and forcing a field goal attempt.

Speaker 3 (02:41:23):
So another try for John hall This will be from
twenty six yards away, just inside the left hash marks.
Nebraska is trying to get that lead to twenty wiser set.
Here's the snap policemen made and the kick is in
the air and it is good. So three more here

Speaker 3 (02:45:26):
Yes, what were the fun part of the gig Sega

at running bag a Locke, we'll give it to him
dry on nip stop short, Prince Well and mony Ellen
getting there. The linebacker for Nebraska, and it's fourth and
one for the Badgers at their own thirty four yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:46:20):
Just you know, way too many bodies in the middle,
and it allows their linebackers to fly downhill and just
too much penetration on these.

Speaker 9 (02:46:28):
Third and short and fourth and short and setting up

be jumping off the ball.

Speaker 8 (02:46:34):
Guys have to sit in there and make sure they
don't jump here on fourth and short.

Speaker 3 (02:46:38):
There we go fourth down and one. The loft said,
I here, as pet play is whistled, I think I leave.
A timeout was taken by Nebraska, and it was Nebraska
with nine ten to play.

Speaker 5 (02:46:52):
This would be a full time out.

Speaker 3 (02:46:56):
Badgers just three of ten on third down today and
they try to fourth down the fourth and shorten the

they can move the sticks on fourth down.

Speaker 8 (02:49:06):
We saw obviously the big fourth down stop on the
last drive, and I mentioned it coming into the game.

Speaker 9 (02:49:12):
What we saw.

Speaker 8 (02:49:13):
Last week on third down and not very good and
today a little bit better, but not by much. In here,
if there is any chance for this team to make
a comeback, obviously we need to get something here and.

Speaker 3 (02:49:25):
Again an extra lineman JP Benshaw lining up to the
left of the left tackle Jack Nelson, JT Segres in there.
Here's the handoff top we Walker slips through the left side,
thirty five to the forty yard line. Walker up to
the forty two and a first down for Wisconsin. This
time the Badgers do convert on fourth.

Speaker 8 (02:49:43):
Oh nice chop, Jackson Acre. He's done a couple of
really nice jobs. Or he's let up into the hole.
And it's big on big. You got the big guys
up front, and it's backer on back and Jackson Acre
has won those battles today that time able to pick
up the first down.

Speaker 3 (02:49:57):
So here we go. Two receivers right, one on the left,
first and ten for the Badgers their own forty two
yard line. Walk of the running back. Locke reads, keeps, looks,
winds up. He's a deep down the middle for Vinnie Anthony.

Speaker 4 (02:50:08):
Kinks tride fifteen ten five touchdown Wisconsin. Braydon Locke to
Vinnie Anthony fifty eight yards at his thirty seven to
twenty three Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (02:50:19):
We're the eight fifty remaining.

Speaker 9 (02:50:21):
Let's go. What a play. What a great designer.

Speaker 8 (02:50:24):
Just a single route there by Vinnie Anthony and he
just beat his man.

Speaker 9 (02:50:28):
To the middle of the field on a post route.

Speaker 8 (02:50:30):
Protection was good. Brandon had all kinds of space and
just dropped it in there beautifully for Vinnie Anthony to
get down and score and keep the Wisconsin Badgers in
this football game.

Speaker 3 (02:50:41):
So they'll go for two here to try to pull
within twelve. Okraska trying to get its personnel out there.
He got Anthony Loakowski and Kakahuna to the left, Brycing
Green to the right. In a three yard line they

(02:51:01):
go for two. Lock looking shoots it right, that's caught
by Bryson Green and the two point conversion works. Thirty
seven twenty five Nebraska with eight and a half minutes
to play. So I got the scoring drive brought to
you by your local Wisconsin and up four dealers, five places,
seventy five yards. Took two minutes and twenty two seconds.

(02:51:22):
That's the third touchdown pass of the day, by the way,
on that lock rainbow to Vinnie Anthony, two to Bryson Green,
one to Vinnie Anthony, and the Badgers are within twelve.

Speaker 9 (02:51:33):
Freyden has had a really nice game.

Speaker 3 (02:51:35):
He has.

Speaker 8 (02:51:35):
He has not had you very few errant throws, you know,
we have not had I'm not even gonna jinx anything,
but he's kept the ball out of Arm's way, he's
nineteen to twenty eight for two to eighty three and
three touchdowns, completion percentages.

Speaker 9 (02:51:50):
At sixty eight. He has had himself a nice day.

Speaker 8 (02:51:52):
And that time you're seeing that impact of the physicality
of Bryson Green just on that two point Smanda man
coverage and Bryson just both his way separate, gave himself
a little separation, and now all of a sudden, we
got ourselves a ball.

Speaker 3 (02:52:05):
Game's see what Wisconsin does. Here is Nebraska anticipating a
potential on side kick, so thirty remaining can be a
little early for that, but we'll see.

Speaker 8 (02:52:19):
As Nebraska lines up for that. I've always wondered, just
put it. There are returners at the fifteen. Just put
it another like the thirty. Let that thing bounce around,
it go scramble.

Speaker 9 (02:52:27):
Yeah, it's easier said and done.

Speaker 3 (02:52:30):
I like the ideas David Loan. The kick is away
and it'll be fielded a fair catch inside the five
yard line. One of the things you can do at
the college level is a Garcia Castaneda. We'll take the
fair catch and the Huskers will start of their twenty
five first and ten.

Speaker 8 (02:52:49):
There's all that space there and it's always. I mean, man,
everything's easier up here. Yes, but they have nine guys
up there in front of to kind of cover for
the onside kick, and you have all that space, you're
actually going to have a better chance of six because
you're sprinting down the field.

Speaker 9 (02:53:05):
They're up there.

Speaker 8 (02:53:07):
The odds are they'll probably be able the fault, but
you only have one and maybe two guys that can
go do it. Maybe if that comes up again and
you cut this thing to one score, maybe we dial
that bad boy out.

Speaker 3 (02:53:17):
Here's Dylan Ryola, who is twenty four of thirty three today,
two hundred and sixty one yards and a touchdown. He's
under his center, takes the snap, Little roll who is
right Chase by Hills drops it off Borkacher twenty five
to the thirty yard line, slowed down by tack at Curtis,
But that should still be a first down or very close.

Speaker 16 (02:53:34):
Do it to it.

Speaker 3 (02:53:35):
Nate Borkisher, the tight end who came in with two
catches all season, and he has a couple here now today,
and that is a first down on a gain of ten.

Speaker 8 (02:53:45):
That's a fake to nobody. Yeah, the running back ran out,
so there was no fake and the tight end. Did
a great job there of selling it and actually taking
up two of Wisconsin blocker of rush guys, and they
end up going up. He just leaks out, that's an
easy pitch and catch in.

Speaker 3 (02:54:00):
Fifty five, remaining thirty seven to twenty five, Nebraska leading Wisconsin.
As the Huskers will take their time to play clock down,
the five trips to the left, Riola in the shotgun
takes the stamp of those over the middle that's caught
by Barney and he gets hit by Austin Brown across
the forty yard line near the forty four that's a

(02:54:22):
game of nine.

Speaker 8 (02:54:23):
It's been that same concept that has just been eating
us alive today. They pulled the center right guard and
all the linebackers go flying because it looks like that's
that toss play out to the right and there's a
wide vacancy in the middle of the field and Reola
just sits there and throws it right in their easy
pitch and catcher.

Speaker 3 (02:54:41):
Second down in one, Nebraska from its own forty four
yard line. Emm A. Johnson to the right of the
Huskers QB Jeneimen Bonner breaks out a motion of the left.
Ryola again looking to throw and again to the right.
That's caught by Garcia Castaneda. First down across midfield check
out of Oz by Lucas at the forty six yard
line of Wisconsin. On the one hand, if you're hearing this,

(02:55:03):
you're thinking, why are they throwing it? But it's just
easy easy, It's like a run. I mean, it's just
it's or it's easier than a run, I should say,
it's just it's right there to be had. So it's
very low risk. First down at the forty six of
Wisconsin with six forty four to play, and.

Speaker 9 (02:55:18):
It's just easy, no you know, no risk throws.

Speaker 8 (02:55:22):
They're just running simple crossing routes over the middle. They're
letting things kind of sort itself out, and he just
flings it, easy pitch and catch again.

Speaker 3 (02:55:30):
Three receivers come out to the left. On first down, Ryola,
we'll give it to Emma Johnson inside the forty five.
Johnson the forty yard line. TACKA Curtis stands him up
and stops the progress inside the forty near the thirty
eight penalty markers fly. It was after the whistle, there
was still more activity and this could be fifteen more
here against Wisconsin. We'll see. I think you're going to

(02:55:53):
be right. Here comes the call after the play, personal foul, un.

Speaker 10 (02:55:58):
Necessary roughness defense number four fifteen yard pending first down.

Speaker 3 (02:56:04):
Can't happen, cannot happen. You are desperate to get the
ball back. The whistle blew yeah, right in front of
the official.

Speaker 6 (02:56:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:56:19):
Yeah, Well at the twenty three yard line of Wisconsin
first down, Nebraska was six y ten remaining thirty seven
to twenty five. The Huskers if they'rebout double wide to
the lefts I didn't line up right side of the
formation banks in most of the right Here is to
give to Emma Johnson and he'll fight his way inside

(02:56:40):
the twenty yard line. Tossed down by Darryl Peterson at
the nineteen gain of four second down and six.

Speaker 9 (02:56:49):
That was a very physical tackle by DP came in there.

Speaker 8 (02:56:53):
It's just a lot of frustration, bubblin and I think
that happened with tack it the play before in DP
there went hard, finished that off. But it's been a
I think a very surprising how disappointing we've been on
defense today at twenty ninth carry of the day for
with five different people one hundred and seventy five yards on.

Speaker 9 (02:57:14):
The ground, averaging six yards of kid.

Speaker 3 (02:57:18):
Yeah, we know Wisconsin's trouble stopping the run, and it's
been the case here stopping a period. Here's a throw
over the medal for Barney. Broke it up incomplete inside
the fifteen yard line, pressed Zachman making the play there
from his safety spot. So of the storylines going in
about the running game. Though Wisconsin has been very it's
been a massive struggle to stop it. Nebraska has been

(02:57:40):
very pedestrian at best, running at ranking thirteenth in the conference,
but not so much today they've been good. Look third
down and six for the Huskers at the Wisconsin nineteen
yard line slot left slot right snapped to Riola. Look
at the throw against the four man rush. Left side
clip is tipped up in blaeed. It was behind Barney

(02:58:01):
covered from Naser Forkuren penalty marker in the backfield. In
the Huskers.

Speaker 9 (02:58:07):
Backfield, they're acting like it's on US five.

Speaker 3 (02:58:10):
Oh one remaining. Here comes the call.

Speaker 10 (02:58:13):
Personal foul roughing the passer defense fumble zero with a
blow to the head.

Speaker 5 (02:58:19):
Have the listens to the goal first down.

Speaker 3 (02:58:21):
That's John Pius, the outside linebacker getting in there on
Ryola and he got the hand right up into the
face mask of Dylan Ryola right at the release. That's
a pretty easy call.

Speaker 9 (02:58:36):
Yeah, definitely him hit him up high, hit him in
the face there. They're going to get that call.

Speaker 8 (02:58:40):
Especially sold it well, flinched that head back and got
the fifteen when we could have forced a field goal
and kept it to a two score game.

Speaker 3 (02:58:48):
Instead, it's first and goal inside the ten, just inside
the ten with five oh one remaining here in Lincoln.
So again those penalties at the worst possible times, double
lie to the left Riola. We'll give it to Emmett
Johnson and he gets drilled out about the eight yard
line gain of a couple. You got Kirk Neil in there. Well,

(02:59:10):
if that Wisconsin defensive line, second and goal for Nebraska.
In the meantime, they'll continue to milk that clock down
a four to forty five to play thirty seven to
twenty five Nebraska and they are in no hurry whatsoever.

Speaker 9 (02:59:30):
Milking the clock.

Speaker 8 (02:59:31):
And I think the second half it is I don't know,
have we gotten a stop, Has Wisconsin gotten a stop?
On If it is, it's been one time they have
just done whatever they have wanted to do on offense,
and it's been I've said it all day, it's just
been easy.

Speaker 9 (02:59:47):
It's been easy.

Speaker 8 (02:59:48):
Underneath throws, running the football, and they've kind of had
all the answers to whatever Wisconsin has tried to do.

Speaker 3 (02:59:54):
Yeah, but go ahead and let the play clock wind down.
Now they'll take a time out, so the Huskers using
one with forman it's in sixteen seconds to play, we'll
keep it here thirty seven to twenty five, Nebraska leading Wisconsin.
Time Spotlight Today's Best of the Game brought to you
by Old Dominion Freightline. Old Dominion Freightline works hard to
be the best in the game and is proud to
support those driving to be the best in theirs. We

(03:00:16):
talked about Christian Allegro here quite a bit this season
is certainly a lot today he's been good. But you
mentioned it too, Braydon Lott. Yeah, as he's performed well
here today. Three touchdown passes, nineteen to twenty eight, two
hundred and eighty three yards, no interceptions, and he's done
what he can.

Speaker 9 (03:00:35):
I thought he's really played.

Speaker 8 (03:00:36):
This might be his best game from start to finish.
And he's been putting some tough spots. I think the
protection has been pretty good, but his completion percentage he's
been struggling with that.

Speaker 9 (03:00:48):
He struggled turning the football over and today he hasn't
done that.

Speaker 8 (03:00:52):
Obviously, we put the ball on the turf before the half,
and that seven points are three points not helping either.

Speaker 3 (03:01:00):
Here we go, second down and goal from the eight
yard line. Ryola little pop pass through Barney bending left,
got through Curtis by Sebastian cheeks up to make the tackle.
Flag is down. What they got up in the face mask?
We'll see play stopped at about the five yard line.
By the way, you're asking about getting stops in the

(03:01:22):
second half, the answer is no. In fact, Nebraska has
had points on each of its last five possessions. Took
them to the goal.

Speaker 10 (03:01:28):
Personal file face mask defense number four half misson.

Speaker 3 (03:01:34):
Goal, first down, All right, they get it on tack
at Curtis the linebacker. The transferred from the USC. So
here we go again.

Speaker 9 (03:01:42):
Yeah, that's first and goal. It is up at his head.

Speaker 8 (03:01:45):
I think he did grab face mask, and that's adding on.
We would have been off the field and we had
a penalty.

Speaker 9 (03:01:51):
So just way too sloppy.

Speaker 3 (03:01:52):
First and goal at the three, Roola under center ie
formation behind him. Riola gives off the dow Dell, hitting
it off the right side toward the goal line and
not there yet, second down in goal, and the meantime
the clock is running. With three forty five to play.

Speaker 8 (03:02:11):
I'm gonna be real curious to hear from the coaches
after this game and the players too about what went
wrong today defensively, And it's easy for me up here
the mistackles it's been I'm sure we'll get a count
in itally after it has been a lot of that,
and then this drive has been compounded by just frustration,

(03:02:32):
late hits, two face masks.

Speaker 9 (03:02:34):
It's been just a sloppy, sloppy half of football.

Speaker 3 (03:02:37):
Defensively again, Riola under center takes gives to dow Dell
over the top, touchdown Nebraska with three eleven to play.
As the Huskers are closing in on ending a dubious
streak of not going bowling, that plot has shifted.

Speaker 9 (03:02:56):
Well, they're going Bowland.

Speaker 3 (03:02:57):
They are going bowling bowling school.

Speaker 8 (03:03:01):
The school a great volleyball team, but they also bo
That was just great athleticism there, and I'm sure what
would have been nice and why I was excited because
you talked about the struggles they have just closing up games.
You had an opportunity, I think it was about six
or seven minutes left in this game. You cut it
with a big play to twelve. If you could have
gotten a stop, you know, things start going on in

(03:03:23):
guys minds, and unfortunately are unable.

Speaker 9 (03:03:26):
To do that.

Speaker 3 (03:03:26):
There is an injured Badger's player who is getting some
attention from the athletic training staff. So it's forty three
to twenty five Nebraska with three eleven remaining. There there's

(03:03:48):
a from the Nebraska perspective, a lot of frustrations being lifted.
Here injured Badger is Leon Lowry. He's up with feet
and walking over toward the Wisconsin sideline. And this is
a program with five national championships, including three in a

(03:04:09):
four year run back in the nineties under Tom Osborne,
Bob Devanny taking him to titles in nineteen seventy and
seventy one, the great Johnny Rodgers Heisman Trophy winner among
the stars of those days, John Hall with the extra points.
Here's the stamp and the kick is in the air,

(03:04:30):
and it is good. Three eleven remaining. We'll keep it here.
Forty four to twenty five, Nebraska leading Wisconsin. And yeah,
the penalties they for all the mistakes, the miss tackles.
Badger's guilty of seven penalties for fifty six yards today.

(03:04:50):
They came in with about thirty three yards on average
of penalties per contest. And it's not just the number,
it's the win they occurred here today.

Speaker 8 (03:05:01):
It's so fun funny now from watching college football, it's
all over, it's it has become more NFL ish. But
I thought today was going to be one of those
old school all right, Nebraska Wisconsin. Both offenses have kind
of struggled your fireing offensive coordinators and doing all this,
and I really thought today was going to be a
sludge match where it's going to be a defensive battle

(03:05:23):
and don't turn the football over.

Speaker 9 (03:05:25):
I couldn't have been more wrong. The fact that we
have given up four hundred and seventy one yards.

Speaker 3 (03:05:31):
Yeah, and a great balance from the Huskers.

Speaker 8 (03:05:34):
Yes, they have done it running it. They've got one
hundred and seventy eight yards. I got two hundred ninety
three passing. And it's just been the defense kind of
rearing its ugly, had very Iowa esque and the fact
that just couldn't figure out any way to stop or
slow down an offense that is not there's some potent offense,
and that's the part that's most disappointing.

Speaker 3 (03:05:53):
The kickoff from Bushini will sail beyond the end zone
another touchback. Yeah, one week removed from a stellar defensive
performance against Oregon, but you know the game before that,
they were run on all night by Iowa program. Clearly
with a ton of work ahead of it. I mean,

(03:06:15):
that's captain obvious. But Wisconsin is about to drop to
five and six, three minutes, eleven seconds remaining. Braidon, lock
in the Badgers offense back out there first and ten.
Three receivers right, one on the left, Tawee Walker, and
they're running back lock back to throw. Huskers send four
short pass over the middle that's caught by Anthony across
a thirty yard line and he'll take it up to

(03:06:36):
the thirty four on a gain of nine. And now
the Badgers will need some tempo here with three minutes
to play.

Speaker 9 (03:06:43):
Some really good things.

Speaker 8 (03:06:44):
Braydon has thrown the ball well, Vinnie Anthony has kind
of emerged, and you know, without Will out there, guys
have had a step.

Speaker 3 (03:06:51):
Up in the half, well thirty four of Wisconsin, second
down and one lock looking looking he'll throw a left
side that's through the Anthey that's intercepted by Deshaun Singleton,
brought down at the forty nine of Wisconsin. Just went
right through the hands of the intended receiver. It'll go

(03:07:14):
to Locke. Well, that was a catchable ball.

Speaker 8 (03:07:18):
That's too bad because just talking about how well I
think Brayden has played, and part of that is not
turning the football over.

Speaker 9 (03:07:24):
That is not on him.

Speaker 8 (03:07:25):
It will go down in his stats. But Vinnie has
had a nice day. That one there got to catch,
the ball goes three hands, pops up in there. It's
just that kind of day for the Wisconsin Badgers today.

Speaker 3 (03:07:36):
I said, Anthony, that was actually off of Bryce and
Green's hands. Wow, for what it's worth. Yeah, the Huskers
will take over at the forty eight of Wisconsin with
two minutes and thirty seven seconds remaining. They are a

(03:08:01):
partying in Lincoln tonight.

Speaker 9 (03:08:03):
Yeah, they got the big volleyball match.

Speaker 8 (03:08:06):
So it'll be up to our gals to try and
salvage something out of Lincoln because this has been this
has been tough sledding today.

Speaker 9 (03:08:13):
I never envisioned this and the way this game played out.

Speaker 8 (03:08:18):
I don't think anyone on that sideline envisioned any of
this either.

Speaker 3 (03:08:25):
Heinrich Harberg in a quarterback of the forty eight of Wisconsin,
and Harburg's going to keep it running right inside the
forty five yard line and wrestle down near the forty
one Brandon lean over there off the defensive line, and
that should get us to the two minute time out. Here,
we have two minutes and twenty seconds remaining, so we'll

(03:08:50):
just go ahead and take this to the two minute
time out with the Huskers closing in on a bowl eligibility.
Nebraska forty four, Wisconsin twenty five or back in one minute.
This is Badger football for lear field. On the football field,
the skilled players get paid the most. The same is
true in construction. Some of the most skilled players building

Speaker 22 (03:09:29):
Team today and join one three nine dot com.

Speaker 14 (03:09:37):

be ready right from the opening kickoff. Senax has your
pregame routine covered. We've got your salty snacks, your sweet treats,

Speaker 3 (03:10:06):
Down the final two minutes here in Lincoln, with Nebraska
leading Wisconsin forty four to twenty five, four hundred and
seventy seven yards of offense for Nebraska, three ninety nine
for Wisconsin, including two hundred and ninety two through the
air for a Braidon Locke, three touchdowns for him and

(03:10:27):
a bad luck interception.

Speaker 8 (03:10:29):
A moment ago, Don Braiden, I think you come out
of this game today and there's a lot of things
to be super disappointed about. Defensively, almost everything special teams
kind of a hot mess today.

Speaker 9 (03:10:45):
But I thought offensively you did. You were able to
do some things.

Speaker 8 (03:10:49):
I thought Brayden was very accurate with the football and
play some of the players. It was tough slide and
run in the football, and we kind of thought, especially inside,
it was going to be but not really be able
to get that going and still be able to move
the football as much as they did.

Speaker 9 (03:11:04):
Just again too.

Speaker 8 (03:11:06):
Many mistakes and defensively no answers for an offense that
has not been that good throughout the season.

Speaker 9 (03:11:14):
But today they looked like the best thing going.

Speaker 3 (03:11:20):
So here we go. It'll be a second out and
four for the Huskers when play resumes, the balls at
the Wisconsin forty two yard line is Heinrich Harberg will
stay in there at quarterback. Penn State leading Minnesota by
a point with about three minutes left in Minneapolis. Harburg

(03:11:43):
is going to keep it off the right side and
there to green is who else but Christian Allegro at
the forty yard line of Wisconsin and a minute fifty
in counting left in the game, and now the Husker
is getting a new old line out there on the field.

Speaker 9 (03:12:00):
Shit, sure, get everybody at it.

Speaker 8 (03:12:03):
I always enjoy seeing that, get these guys some looks,
and you know, preferred if it was us that was
doing it, so our young guys would get some more reps.
But it's always fun to see young offensive line and
get a chance to get out there and get some reps.

Speaker 3 (03:12:15):
A minute twenty five remaining, it's third down and three
Nebraska at the Wisconsin forty one yard line. Ryola back
in there at quarterback, but they're gonna go ahead and
take a knee here. I think, yep, he will do
just that at the forty four yard line. It'll be
fourth down that we're down a one oh eight remaining.

(03:12:36):
But if you're in Nebraska, if you're those players, you've
earned it, you got so you get to soak it
up right now. Is this is a breakthrough moment for
this Nebraska football program.

Speaker 8 (03:12:48):
And one of the things that in just listening to
Matt Ruhle talk this week was getting over that hump
so then next year you don't have this same narrative
and then you hope to build off of it. And
obviously was has had great success that we're going to
be up against it having to win against the Gophers
next week to try to make another bowl to keep
that streak going.

Speaker 3 (03:13:08):
Roola goes ahead and takes the knees, so they'll lose
the ball on downs with thirty five seconds to play.
That was fourth down, So I think Jilan thought it
was the clock stops on the change of possession.

Speaker 9 (03:13:24):
Yeah, he's a young guy. He'll out at some point.
They're doing jump around in our face.

Speaker 3 (03:13:30):
Well, I've been heard that a few times last several years.

Speaker 9 (03:13:32):
Sure, they're going to grab that big pig.

Speaker 3 (03:13:34):
Is it a pig, it's a freedom trophy.

Speaker 9 (03:13:37):
Yes, that's where they're going to take that. Yes, taking
everything from us here.

Speaker 3 (03:13:43):
Yeah, they're jumping around in Lincoln. It's been been played
in visiting stadiums the last few years now, and things
don't go well for Wisconsin. So for the forty six
of the Badgers, first down is lock. Well, it off
to dari and Drew Prie gets across midfield and he

(03:14:03):
is thrown down of the forty six and that will
wrap it up. So well, the first time since twenty sixteen,
the Nebraska Cornhuskers are officially bull eligible. The Badgers will
try to get there on Friday when Wisconsin plays Minnesota
at Camp Randall Stadium. It is over in Lincoln as

(03:14:26):
Nebraska wins it by nineteen. Final score Nebraska forty four
Wisconsin twenty five. Coming up our postgame show, brought to
you by your local Wisconsin and Up four dealers. This
is Badger Football, Front, leer Field.

We are experiencing an energy transformation. Wind and solar farms
are being built. Coal is being phased out, but the
wind doesn't always blow, the sun doesn't always shine. We
need reliable energy available on demand to keep our data centers,
manufacturing plans, and homes all operating. Natural gas electric generation
is necessary for Wisconsin. It provides the bridge we need

(03:17:23):
to a renewable energy future. Wisconsin Infrastructure Investment now ask
you to support natural gas.

Lug you down on the field here Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
If you would have told folks who follow college football
that ten or fifteen years ago even that there would
be a field storm on win number six in late
November involving Nebraska, you would look at those people sideways,
but different times. And it's been an incredibly frustrating stretch

(03:18:53):
of time for this Nebraska football program. It's incredibly loyable,
loyal fan base. They had not gone bowling since twenty sixteen.
They will go bowling in twenty twenty four. Is Nebraska
defeats Wisconsin forty four to twenty five on a day
where the Badgers could not get stops. I think taush

(03:19:14):
of opportunities to Nebraska had a really easy first possession
to a touchdown. Badgers answered it. You get a turnover
at their seventeen and get nothing. Well, like here we
are again, and it just took air out of this team.

Speaker 9 (03:19:28):
You don't go down again.

Speaker 8 (03:19:29):
And it was a short field, but great play of
Cheney and Barton. And then you line up for a
what should be a chip shot field goal, you get
a delay, you miss the field goal, then they go
down and score it just you're constantly chasing.

Speaker 9 (03:19:42):
So it's one of those deals where you.

Speaker 8 (03:19:46):
As a football team just have not been able to
figure out how to kind of put people away and
to take advantage of the opportunities that you're given. And
then when you don't, that momentum we just have not
figured out. And I know, you know coach Albaret haz
always talked pendulum. The pendulum has just been beating us
over the head. All here, you're right, and you have
to figure out ways to recapture that. And when you don't,

(03:20:08):
you get it run out of the gym and you
have a team storm in the field against a five
and six Wisconsin program. But I understand it because they've
struggled and this they I give this fan base a
ton of credit.

Speaker 9 (03:20:20):
They fill this place today was jam packed. It wasn't
no fake sellout.

Speaker 3 (03:20:24):
It was legit yep.

Speaker 9 (03:20:25):
And I'm gonna tell you this.

Speaker 8 (03:20:26):
If I'm a Bowl sign me up with Nebraska, You're
gonna get inundated.

Speaker 3 (03:20:31):
I told this. I mentioned this to Mike Keller in
the pregame show. Specific to this Nebraska fan base. This
is green Bay because that these fans are with you
through the good times and the bad times. When I
first moved to Wisconsin, the late eighties, Packers were terrible,
but people couldn't wait for the season to start. They
fill lambeau Field.

Speaker 8 (03:20:48):
That's this place you're you're one hundred percent right, and
it's very similar you're walking over here.

Speaker 9 (03:20:54):
Fans are very welcoming like they are up in Green Bay.

Speaker 8 (03:20:57):
And you have a great tradition, you know, luckily Packer fans,
we've had a pretty good run here the last thirty years.
Nebraska had that, and they're trying to figure it out.
So yeah, I think that is a very very apropos
And you know it's tough from a being a Badger
fan watching this, but you also kind of look at
this and these people have earned the right to go

(03:21:20):
to a bowl game, and you know they're going to
fill it and go do it because it has been
a long, tough slog for them and they earned it today.
It wasn't They just came and took it from the
Wisconsin Ben pounded us all day.

Speaker 3 (03:21:32):
Yeah, it probably won't be a real sexy bowl, but
they don't care because I don't think ticket sales will
be a big issue for the bowl game that brings
the Nebraska Cornhuskers to town. Nebraska wins it here today,
forty four to twenty five will continue with our postgame
show presented by your local Wisconsin and UP four dealers.
This is Badger football from lear Field.
