Now here's Zach Seloff on ten seventy the Game.
Speaker 8 (02:08):
Hello everyone, and welcome to levon Aarino, where this afternoon
the number one Badger women's hockey team finish up their
series against the visiting Saint Thomas Tommy's thanks so much
for joining us. My name is Zach Sealoff. Live with
you in Madison. Paul Brown and Mark green Hall will
join you near four o'clock as the puck is getting
ready to drop. The Badgers took home a sixty to
one victory against Saint Thomas last night, rebounding from their
first loss in the season to Ohio State the previous weekend.
(02:29):
Let's take a look back at last night's game. During
the pregame show, Paul and I had talked about how
impressive the Badger's third line has been all season, and
they helped us look smart by scoring just two minutes
and twenty one seconds into the start of the game.
Claire Enwright got the goal with the cyst from Sarahwsnevitch
and Maryann Picard and the Badgers were off to the races.
They'd score two more in the first, one from Kirsten
Simms assisted by Casey O'Brien and Leayla Edwards, and finally
(02:52):
a power play goal which is forty five seconds left
in the period from Lacey Eton with the cyst from
Casey O'Brien and Kirsten Simms. In the second, the Badgers
added their fourth of the night courtesy of Cassie Hall
with assists from Eden and Kelly Gorbtenko. But Saint Thomas
did their best to keep it interesting, putting in an
even strength tally at fifteen ten in period two from
Chloe Breen, with helpers on that one going to Nicole
Valario and Haley Maxwell, expanding a four to one lead
(03:15):
to start the third. The Badgers lit the lamp twice more,
once with Gorbtenko from Ava Murphy and Lady Potter, and finally,
the freshman Finley McCarthy's scored with an assist from Mikayla's Village,
which marked her first point as a Badger. We talked
yesterday about two potential milestones for Badger players, and we're
closer to them today. Caroline Harvey needs one more point
to reach one hundred in her career, and Casey O'Brien's
(03:35):
two assists last night put her into a tie for
the Badger career assist record with Sarah Bauer, both of
them now sitting at one hundred and thirty eight. One
more assist for O'Brien will give her the record outright,
and we are not even halfway through the season. There
is no telling how far she'll go before this campaign
is done. As Paul has talked about throughout the season,
one area where teams have had success against the Badgers
is via physical play, and Saint Thomas made a bid
(03:57):
to capture some of that success for themselves last night.
Despite the efforts of a talent to goaltender and an
aggressive for check, the Tommies were unable to compete with
Wisconsin's speed, passing accuracy and for blentless offense. Still, whenever
two WCCHA teams mix it up, there is no counting
them out before the final horn sounds. We've got an
interview with Mark Johnson and more coming up for you
on the pregame show. Thanks so much for being with
(04:18):
us here tonight, and I hope you're having a great
weekend wherever you are. We'll be right back after these
messages with Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey. Here on AM ten
seventy the Game, I'm.

Giava Jelosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. Twenty six
year old hose Ebarra has been convicted and sentenced for
brutally murdering twenty two year old Georgia nursing student Lincoln Riley.
Riley went for a run on February twenty second on
the University of Georgia campus. During the trial, prosecutor Sheila
Ross argued that Ebarra killed Riley after she fought off
his attempt to rape her.
Speaker 10 (04:46):
Lincoln left those scratches and the physical evidence says that
she left those scratches because that is why his DNA
is underneath her right finger nails.
Speaker 11 (04:54):
She says.
Speaker 9 (04:55):
Ibarra then bashed her skull with a rock repeatedly. The
Jodge handed down a Barr's sentence of life with out
parole after listening to powerful statements from Riley's heartbroken family.
Like her father Jason Riley.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I am haunted by the thought of the fear she
must have felt in those final moments, and it breaks
my heart knowing that she suffered.
Speaker 9 (05:13):
The killing drew attention to the national immigration debate. A
Bara is from Venezuela and was in the country illegally.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Picked up victory number fourteen. It was nice to see
and write McCarthy and Gorba Tanko get on the scoring
column there.
Speaker 12 (05:50):
Yeah, it really was. You know.
Speaker 13 (05:52):
I thought the key was, you know, our quick goal
in the first period, then we capitalized on one later on,
and then I think the big one was the third
goal on the power play to get to three, and
so I thought the best of the three periods was
our third. We started to move the puck and skate
like we've done a good chunk of this season. And
when we're doing that, we become, you know, difficult to
play against. Overall, is a good win and hopefully we'll
(06:14):
continue in today's game.
Speaker 12 (06:16):
Is the way we finished last night's game.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Mark, you and I have been around the sport a
long long time and that kind of thing, and from
my perspective as a broadcaster, I don't think I've ever
seen a team we're sixteen different players have scored and
in yesterday's game, for an example, twelve forwards put points
up on the board.
Speaker 12 (06:35):
That's good.
Speaker 13 (06:36):
I mean, you know, when we get contributions. I felt,
you know, throughout the week, I thought the cards line
with Waz and then right, we're going to play well.
They've got good energy. We mixed lines up a little
bit and a couple of the games down at Ohio State,
but I thought they would give us some juice and
they did that. You know, they gave us a good
opportunity to score some goals, and they capitalize on some goals.
(06:57):
I thought was that was going to get one at
some point because you really well but if they're playing well,
they create that energy and everybody sort of feeds off
it and tries to play the same way.
Speaker 12 (07:06):
So it's good to have depth.
Speaker 13 (07:08):
And then you know, we put Finley at center Ice
I thought she played really well. Her face offs who
were good and she capitalized on an opportunity. So that
gives that young player some confidence and should help them
out as we go through the rest of the season.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Mark, you've scored eighty seven goals, but you've only given
up fifteen. The scoring is one thing, but defense, your
club's playing for her well too.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Well.
Speaker 12 (07:31):
You know, you give credit to Ava.
Speaker 13 (07:33):
I mean, she's been consistent since the start of the year.
You know when she's called upon, whether it's twenty five
or thirty shots or last night the shots were a
little fewer than that. But you know, every game there's
going to be quality opportunities and she's given us a
chance to win in every game. So give her a
lot of credit for coming into the season in good shape.
Confidence should be in a good place, and you know
(07:55):
she'll continue to do what she's done the rest of
the season, hopefully as she's done the early part here.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Mark, we haven't talked a lot about the defense, and
your pairings have basically been the same for most of
the season, But overall, you have to be pleased when
you've got six deep that you can go there.
Speaker 13 (08:11):
Yeah, I mean you need you need depth to win,
you know, in you're in this specially in this league,
and if you're going to be consistent over the season,
you've got to have depth too, because you're going to
run too situations. Kids get sick, kids get the flu,
kids get hurt, and so the deeper you are, the
better you're able to adjust to those situations. But on
the blue line, you know, we've got some quality defensemen.
(08:32):
You know, you're led by KK, and you know, if
we have the puck and we're possessing the puck, uh,
the other team's probably not going to get chances. And
if we can do a good job of maintaining the
blue lines in most of our games, and you know,
then the chance of them getting quality opportunities and to
have the discipline to stay out of the penalty box,
don't give the team's power plays because that's when they're
going to be most app to get scoring chances and
(08:54):
end up scoring goals.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Mark, what what did you think of say Thomas, and
do you expect anything any different way to I wouldn't
think so hard.
Speaker 13 (09:01):
No, they played somewhat aggressive, some oilar the way Ohio State,
you know, pinching their defense and we got the you know,
simsus gold. It was a quick two on one and
we capitalized on it.
Speaker 12 (09:10):
And so if they're going to press you, especially with.
Speaker 13 (09:12):
Their defenceman, and you can chip pucks by and get
tie them, you have a chance to get two on ones,
three on ones, and hopefully we'll be able to create
that this afternoon like we did last night.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Well, in terms of longevity, we haven't talked much about this.
Your thoughts on Dan Cook, who's been around here for
twenty years.
Speaker 13 (09:30):
Huh, Yeah, he's he's good at what he does. You know,
he's got a good eye for talent. But more importantly,
you know, he's a good person.
Speaker 12 (09:38):
He's a good.
Speaker 13 (09:38):
Family man, and he's good at what he does. He
left us for a few years when he went back
to Shadow when his wife was working up there, and
it was a good setting for him to go. But
it was nice to get him back. And you know,
he's been a solid soldier and done a great job
for this program.
Speaker 12 (09:54):
For a long, long time.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
And Jackie's got sixteen years in so you've got a
lot of consistency between those, don't you.
Speaker 13 (10:00):
Yeah, in our profession, that doesn't happen. I mean, we're
the oldest coaching staff as far as being together the
you know, any women's program in the country. And I
think with consistency and anything in life, if you're consistent
with your approach, if you're consistent with the way you
treat your players and do things over the course of
his season, you're going to be successful. And if your
coaching staff is consistent. We've been consistent for a long time.
(10:23):
It's a good foundation to have.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Mark one final one before we let you go. You're
nearing the holiday period, You're going to have an off
period and that kind of thing.
Speaker 12 (10:31):
Just kind of an update.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Where are you in the recruiting thought process and as
far as next year is concerned.
Speaker 13 (10:36):
Well, next last week we signed you know, six players,
and you know those kids will come in during the summer.
Next summer when when they all come back to summer
school and get themselves feed and get themselves organized, workout.
Speaker 12 (10:49):
We got We've got some good.
Speaker 13 (10:50):
Pieces in the following years. Recruiting class, and you know,
you're looking at those kids that are in the tenth
grade now maybe some that are in the eleventh grade,
and you know, kind of eyeball, you know, one, two, three, five,
six kids that you know you want to go after.
And so that part never ends. It's ongoing. And so
you know, during the breaks, generally Jackie or Dan or
(11:10):
myself we're going somewhere. So after we get done with
Ohio State series, Dan's going to go over the under
eighteen tournament over and I think it's in Finland this
year and spend a few days looking at some players there,
and Jack you'll make your way. I'll go look at
some players over the Christmas break and keep that thing going.
Because the better job you do recruiting, the better players
you get them to, you become a better coach.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Thanks Mark, thank you.
Speaker 8 (11:34):
Those are the thoughts of head coach Mark Johnson of
the Wisconsin Badger women's hockey team and Paul, you and
I were kind of looking at each other this final
answer there. I think it's easy as a fan to
imagine that you know, time off is time off, but
for these coaches, I don't really think there's such a
thing as time off. I think it's a year round profession.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Yeah, you talk to any coach in whatever particular sport
they're in, and they go people have no idea. I
guess it's like everything with everybody's job. If you don't
actually have that job, you get the idea that, Hey,
that sounds like it's pretty easy. But there's a lot
that goes on in everybody's life behind the scenes that
nobody else knows about. I've had people over the years
(12:13):
ask me. They think you basically walk in, sit down,
do the game, and go home. And when you tell
them no, I probably spend fifteen to twenty hours during
the week getting ready to go. What you do what?
But it's they don't understand, right, It's not a negative,
it's just what it is.
Speaker 8 (12:31):
Yeah, everyone's life is everyone's the protagonist of their own life,
and you forget that everyone else is there all. Yeah,
we'll hear from her in the second omission. But I
spoke with Brittany Ammerman, who was a Badger star here
for the women's hockey team back in the early twenty tens,
and she's now an orthopedic surgery resident and working with
surgeons a lot too. They get the same kind of thing.
They think you show up to the or do a surgery,
(12:51):
go home, But there's a heck of a lot more
that goes into it.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
How about you you tell the people what you do.
Speaker 8 (12:57):
I'm a registered nurse in the children's hospital are and
it's I love it. It's really a lot of fun.
And it's a lot of fun to be able to
do both that for my vocation and this for my avocation.
Because coming here to the rink, you.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Don't have any overtime hours time.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
That's certainly not you can imagine, right, the operating room
very well scheduled. It only went runs when you wanted
to run.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Well, you're the first nurse I've ever worked with in
broadcasting for all those years.
Speaker 12 (13:21):
Well there you go.
Speaker 8 (13:22):
As we look, though, we got about ten minutes before
this game gets started. The Badgers obviously had a ton
of success last night, six to one victory, six different
players getting scores, eleven of the forwards around the score sheet,
two of the defenders around the score sheet. I know
that coach Johnson and coach Crumb, coach Cook always want
to improve, but as a realistic matter, what do you
(13:44):
think you say to a team after performance like that
to try and help them not, you know, fall back
a little bit, rest on their laurels. How do you
try and keep this team motivated?
Speaker 4 (13:55):
I've asked Marked at a question a couple of times
already this year, and his response is every team is
different and the way they respond to certain situations. Obviously
you have different individuals and they respond differently. And what
he told me is, and if you watch him and
year around him, they're a very confident group. They're not
(14:18):
a I wouldn't call them a cocky group and that
kind of thing. It's business as usual and it's almost
like a professional environment and that kind of thing. And
collectively that seems to be the attitude that they project
and that kind of thing. I don't know if that's
answering your question legitimately, but that's what I see and
(14:41):
I feel, especially where you get to know them more,
is that practice or when you're on the road and
last week down at the hotel in Columbus you talk
to them and stuff like that. There was no panic.
There was excitement about the series, but they knew, hey,
if we get beat once, we're still great hockey team
and it's businesses normal and go back to work after
(15:03):
the loss, that kind of thing, and I think that's
when you have the quality of player that they have here.
I think that's part of the DNA, so to speaks.
Speaker 8 (15:14):
It's something that always impresses me, and especially now this year,
being able to be part of it a little bit more,
you know, around this team a little bit more. Coach
Johnson mentioned at the outset that when you're talking about
recruiting players, you're talking about players that are seniors, juniors,
even sophomores in high school and then they have to
come here to a collegiate environment. But these are still
very young women, eighteen, nineteen, twenty years old, and I'm
(15:36):
consistently impressed by, as you said, the sort of professional
atmosphere that exists. You know, how well they do with
the media, but how well they project themselves on the ice.
It's it's really something to see.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
And what would be interesting is to sit down with
Mark and I would totally understand why he wouldn't want
to talk about it in that kind of thing. I
wonder if they're recruiting for him, is any differently than
it is, for an example, the kids or the coaches
at Saint Thomas or Saint Cloud. Sure that kind of
thing because with the total environment of this facility, the history,
(16:11):
the tradition, obviously, the talent and that kind of thing.
There probably is a lot more young gals around the
country that when they're looking to play college hockey, Wisconsin
has got to be one of those that they would
look at and go, you know what, it'd be kind
of nice to go there and play. As a couple
(16:32):
of the players we've done this summer and fall on
the interviews, they go, Hey, when I went there, saw
the facility, saw the city, got to meet some of
the players. You go, I want to play there? Think
that simple?
Speaker 8 (16:47):
Well, I think you can see why. You can hear
in our headsets. I'm sure as the crowd is cheering
to on Wisconsin. Here the players take the ice. It's
four pm on a Saturday. There's a Badger football game
taking place, as basketball that was taking place, and yet
this venue is getting full and will is a sellout already.
We'll be done here full by the time we dropped
the buck in six minutes time.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Well, they've led the nation in attendance the last seven years,
nine of the last eleven. The building basically holds about
twenty two hundred people, and I think legitimately they could
sell more tickets than that if it were possible. But
that is the capacity of this building. But I wouldn't
be a bit surprised if Wisconsin had the room based
(17:32):
on the number of hockey fans in that I've bet
sell four thousand a game.
Speaker 8 (17:37):
I really think they could. I have a lot of
friends who are fans of the team, Folks with my
hockey league, folks from the r people I work with
that want to get tickets, and it's genuinely becoming one
of the hard tickets to get in town. These games
are sold out well in advance.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
I remember the years when the Men used to play
at the Dane County Memorial Coliseum and that was the
hardest ticket in town. I'll tell you back in those years,
eighty six hundred people and it was filled for every game.
Speaker 8 (18:07):
Not the biggest venue the old Coliseum, but it's a
fun place to watch a game. I watched a team
coached by Mark Johnson, the Madison Monsters O semi pro
team when they were here. I did not hope hitting yourself.
I know, yeah, you can. You can get a sense
of where I'm at on age. But coach Johnson coached
the semi pro team, the Madison Monsters. They played at
(18:28):
the coliseum. This team here today, we're about to get
the starting lineups announced for the Badgers.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
They get announced the starting lineups for Saint Thomas. And
on the left side, it's going to be Ella Berger
on the left wing. Riley Barts will open as the
center on that line with Loreen Stensley the right wing.
That's the opening forwards for the Tommys of Saint Cloud,
our partners Saint Thomas, who come in with a five
(18:56):
nine to one record. They're two eight and one overall.
And in goal it's going to be Danis Strum. She
played pretty well.
Speaker 8 (19:05):
I did think she did, and we've talked about this
with other teams. I think you face such a relentless
offensive push from Wisconsin that you can get a skewed
of the goaltender. You see six goals on the scoreboard,
but man, she had to fight off forty shots in
that game. So we're going to have the announcement from
the PA of the Wisconsin Anders starting lineup. Coach Greenhall
is just down the hall. I'll give you over to Paul.
(19:27):
I have a great game, Thank.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
You, Ava McNaughton, and we'll skate out. They are going
to be playing from our right to our left here
in the first period, Ava within goals against average of
one point three to zero, save percentage of better than
ninety four percent. Her record overall this year is fourteen
to one. She is thirty four and four in her
(19:51):
sophomore career. Back defensively, it's Caroline KK Harvey, the captain
of the Badgers, on the right defense spot, playing with
Vivian Jungles on to be Dyna Minnesota and they are
the number one pair defensively for the Wisconsin Badgers. And
(20:13):
opening it up on the forward line, it's going to
be Mary Anne Percard at center along with Claire Enright
on the left wing and Sarah Oznevitch on the right side.
Coach giving them an opportunity because of their work ethic,
how hard they work, and their ability to play well
(20:34):
as a unit. Greeney is here. We'll get some comments
from him in a couple of minutes. This is game
two of this series. Badgers come in with a record
of fourteen and one, ten and one on the WCCH
rank number one in the country. We're back after this
timeout attention.
Speaker 10 (20:54):

Speaker 2 (21:51):
We are wisconcept WTSO mattersent ten seventy do K and
iHeartRadio station turn to go This seven time NCAA champion,
Wisconsin Women's Hockey is on the air and.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Wisconsin stores on the power play deep.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Speed going down the left wing. It just keeps driving
the net mango right up off the crossbar.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
And now with the call of the game, here's the
Hall of Beaver Paul Braun on ten seventy the game.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
Good afternoon, and welcome to Lebon Arena, the campus of
the University of Wisconsin in Madison, along with Mark Greenhall,
Zach Celaw, I'm Paul Brown. Set to bring your game
too of this WCCHA series between the Badgers and the
Tommys of Saint Thomas. And Mark Greenhall, the goaltending coach
(22:52):
for the Badgers, just arrived after being down in the
locker room. What kind of a presentation or how do
you talk to him when you're looking at game two
and you won the first game six to one.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
We went over here we go, thank you. Paul went
over video today and a couple of points that we
came up with is we got to move the puck quickly.
We don't want to be stickhanling back in our own
defensive zone, you know, and then get pucks through to
the net as often as possible. Now high and wide
right on the net not blocked.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
And the Tommies they will be skating from our left
to our right. Badgers lead to w C. They are
ten and zero in league play with a total of
thirty points. Ohio State was in second place. They were
losing to Mankato State today two to one.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I'm not sure with four and a half minutes to go,
I last thought, which is still two to one.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, all right, here we go, and it's going to
be the Tommy's and the Badgers and the opening face
off and it's picked up by Harvey. Harvey backs it
up in the Wisconsin zone of the play over the
Vivian jungles they had on the pass over the wind
right down in the corner. Was Nevit skating over to
pick it up. Carries it around to the far side
(24:09):
down on the corner, and Picard tried to play it
to the point, but it got past Picard and the
defensive person Harvey and Wisconsin had to go all the
way back and Saint Thomas on the fore check trying
to hold the Badgers in the zone. Wisconsin comes in
over the line with its pericard and it's going to
be played back in behind the at loose down of
(24:31):
the corner on the near side. Wisconsin trying to hold
it there with Picard and Wisconsin has it. Edward's controlling it.
As they change the line, it's Murphy with it, feeding
it down on the corner back on the far side.
Shot is kicked out, rebound shot. The Badgers hit the
rebound and Wisconsin takes the lead. And that score comes
(24:57):
at the nineteen oh six mark the first period. They
was scored, you guy, Kirksten's or Casey O'Brien, Yeah, you
gotta love that.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
She let a O'Brien, let a riper go right from
the right dot. Goalie made the safe. She took her
a rebound and put her right back in the net.
Beautiful job by Casey O'Brien on that first goal.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
That's her ninth goal of the year and it's a
five on five goal for the Badgers and a one
to nothing lead in the game. I like that start, Paul, Yeah,
I was just thinking the same thing. That's a good
start and assisted by h See they got Sims getting
one and Murphy I believe getting the other and coming
(25:40):
over to set it up. Wisconsin out in front, controlling
it the play at center eyes. Badgers come back in
over the line. Here's Edwards with it around on the play,
moving it in. Sims trying to go off in the
back wing or the right side as Wisconsin in centralized
or face off and coming up here. O'Brien gets the goal.
(26:02):
It's an even strength goal.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Yeah, got a rowner rebound after it was passed by
I believe, like you said earlier Murphy and Sims. I believe.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Yeah, yep.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Let's see if we can get another way here, Paul.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
At It's play stopped eighteen minutes and twenty two seconds
remitting here in the period. The Badgers scored fifty two
seconds into the period, taking a one to nothing lead
in the first period. They've now outscored their opponents twenty
nine to five. Badgers scored eighty seven goals and have
(26:41):
given up fifteen so far this season. Face off, coming
back out at centarise, Badgers with the puck. Bnucio with
him cross ice on the far side. Wisconsin laid it
back down in the corner, goes in behind the net.
Gorbatanco over to try and pick it up. Barb Tanko
(27:02):
back to the point on the playoff the Venusio with
the drive ops and trying to play it toward this lot.
And we've got a player down who may be hurt.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah, that is a little Lindham in there. Looks like
she blocked a shot for Saint Thommy's here and she's
down and in pain.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Lindaman, Yes, and she is. There's no doubt. Oh boy.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
I don't know where exactly it hit her, Paul, but
I don't know if it's in the hand or somewhere
in the front part of her body and her upper body.
But she is still down and a trainer is attending
to her. Hopefully she'll be all right. We're gonna take
a break. We'll be back right after this thirty second
time out. This is Wisconsin Badger Hockey.
Speaker 14 (27:43):
Make this holiday season count. Starting November nineteen through December seventeenth,
off Broadway Draft House will have an Angel tree available
with a variety of twenty five dollars gift cards needed
for the Monona School District's family is in need. Every
child should experience the magic of a holiday season. Lending
a hand off Broadway Draftouse. With your help, We'll make
sure these families have a memorable holiday. As a thank
you for your contribution, Off Broadway Draft House will give
(28:06):
you a handmade holiday ornament. 'tis a season of giving
and all of the folks at Off Broadway Draft House
want to make it a joyous time of the year.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
We're back here at La Bond Arena and we are
informed that there may have been some blood around the
mouth area. Yeah, yet the guys maybe got hit right
up high huh.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Yeah. I believe she might have taken it up there
by the chin area or somewhere in that vicinity. Blood
on the ice. She did leave the ice soul. I
hope she's okay.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
And the Badgers are going over by their bench area.
We have eighteen minutes and two seconds remating in the
first period. Here, fifty two seconds into the game, kc
O'Brien scored her ninth goal of the year. A couple
of assists were given it a goal, one to Kirsten Simms,
her fourteenth of the year at Aba Murphy the year.
(29:00):
That was a five on five goal. And Wisconsin with
that lead, Yeah, they're scraping up some of the blood
out in the ice to make sure that they get
all of that.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yeah, you hate to see anybody get hurt, regardless of
the team, and fortunately there's no malicious intent involved, just
an Aaron puck that struck her in a spot you
don't want to get hit.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
They had already made a lineup change for this game.
They took Nicole Valario out of the lineup, one of
the defense I saw that, and they have moved Goldnets,
who was a center on the fourth line. They've moved
her back to a defensive spot. So they basically have
(29:48):
eleven forwards dressed and six defensemen in this game.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
So yeah, that'll be tough for them to sustain a
high piece, you know, for very long with that shortened
amount of person all available.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
So I think we're about ready to get back under
way here. Badgers were looking for their fifteenth win of
the year here in the second game of the series.
Wisconsin next weekend will be out in Maine to take
on the Black Bearers of Maine, which a non conference series.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Yeah, and that's coached by a former Badger player, Molly Instram.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Yep, she went into Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame this
past summer. Up an eagle river and playing down back
in behind the net trying to pick it up and
bring it out Sadjevic and whistle and play is going
to be stopped. She's out on the ice with Breen
and brown and the face off will come back in
the zone of Saint Thomas. Made a coaching change this
(30:49):
week at Saint Thomas.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Yeah, Bethany Brownson's at the helm now for the Tommies.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
And it's going to be set up and controlled. Kotlowski
the drive and that's kicked away. Gorbatanko played it deep
in behind the net trying to hold it. There was
Eden Eating playing with Hull and Gorbatanko, and the play Gorbatanko.
They try to move it out in front, but Nusio
with a drive there was her first opportunity at georgeake
(31:19):
range to try and put it away.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
He likes to shoot the puck, but she still got
to get a goal. Yet.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
I think Karlowski and her paired defensively. They're the two
left that haven't scored for the Badgers out of the regulars.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Maybe today's their day, Paul.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
That'd be nice, wouldn't it. Yeah, Wisconsin changing up here.
The shots are four to nothing in the game. We
have seventeen to ten remaining in the period. Coming out
on the ice for the Badgers is in right along
with Picard and Waznevitch. Pericard in the face off circle.
She's got four points in her last ten games, hasn't
(31:55):
scored a goal in six games. And it's going to
be played along the boards over the world Osnevitch, Waznevitch
controlling the puck, and that came over the line and
fIF black fifth flipped back in.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Easy for me to say, let's let's say that three times.
You'll quickly call it and.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Play at center eyes back over to pick it up
as per Card, Badgers go rink while on the play
over the Harvey quickly out on the lead, coming up
Byce and ride with it looking for help for Wasnevitch
at the Tommy Blue line and Saint Thomas will set
it up and they control it. They move it up byce.
Berger is out with Stinsley and Bart's on that forward
(32:36):
line back in the Badger zone. Wisconsin turn tries to
bring it out play in the neutral zone over to
try and pick it up. Here's Pericard per Cards skating
it down in the far corner on the play over
to Watsnevitch. They move it back over to Harvey at
the point her play comes on the far side over
to Sims. Sims looking for help. Sims backs it out
(32:59):
to center ice to control it. Ed Man's it up
over to Edwards. Here comes Edwards moving it in back
and the passing combination did not work. Yeah, and Edwards
and Sims maybe one too many passes there.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Yeah, Paul, I think you're right. I wish, I wish
Leilah Edwards would have pulled the dragon one. Yeah, she's
got a rocket, let her go.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
She hasn't scored in three games now, and that's a
lot for her. She's got thirteen goals in the year.
Her and Eden are leading in goal scoring in the
country with thirteen apiece.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Yeah. Nice to have a couple of goal scorers near
the top of the pack there. But yeah, Layla's gone
to stretch without We'll see what happens today and.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
We'll have the face off coming up to the left side.
Dana Strum, she's out of Dayton, Minnesota. That's some Maple
Grove area and Wisconsin playing it back down in the corner.
It goes back over Edwards with it around on the
play backhanded centerings. Wisconsin trying to hold the zone edwards
(34:04):
with it along the boards on the near side, back
out on top. It comes in the play over to
Murphy Murphy's stick handing with a puck in the far circle.
Murphy carries it, tried to center it to edwards and
it's played away from her stick by Housey and Saint
Thomas works it up. Ice Lindsey on the pass that
was intended on the lead for Barnes Badgers, trying to
(34:26):
break that up in the neutral zone, coming back over
and controlling it his kurseden Sims of Wisconsin the junior
coming up bye will backhanded in over the Tommy lines.
Saint Thomas with it, turns, tries to bring it out
both teams at full strength, plate chasing it down in
the corner over to try and control it down back
(34:48):
in the Badger's zone, coming over to set it up.
Saint Thomas with the fuck moving it in. Shot deflected
off the shoulder of McNaughton and trickled toward the cage,
but then went wide.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
That one took a funny flight, didn't it, Yes, it did.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Over to Murphy Murphy with it, brings it out on
the lead Wisconsin moving it up Ice comes in over
the line Badger's line of Eden, Hall and Gorbatanco offside.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Yeah, I see where they've been listening to Mark evidently
when he said move the puck quickly. I've seen a
little bit less laborious breakouts by us where we're seeing
who's available, getting the puck up quickly.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
To him and the face off and Saint Thomas controls it.
Jurgensen with it. Jurgensen drives it down in behind McNaughton,
who made the same plays it around the boards on
the near side. Badgers look to break it out, Haul
trying to pick it up in front of the Badger bench,
and it's Eden with it. Eden comes in over the line.
(35:51):
Eden on the far side. Eden's got twelve points in
her last ten games and controlling it. The play comes
towards in our eyes, broken up there, Eden controls it,
comes in over the line on the far boards, eating
with the puck circles behind the that of the Tommies
trying to center it on the wrap around in front. Oh,
and it steered away, kicked away by the goaltender. Badgers
(36:14):
hold it in, eating with a drive that was deflected
in the left wing corner. One nothing. Wisconsin scored fifty
two seconds into the first period and Venusio carries it
through center ice on the rush and over the line
and trying to get off the drive was Halberson, but
the play went behind her and Wisconsin will quickly go
(36:37):
back with Jungles to pick it up. Jungles on the break,
Badgers try to work it out of the zone. Whistle
and action is going to be stopped.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, Jungles intended that puck to go to Vesser, but
she turned the wrong way and just didn't quite connect.
We'll have a face off here in the neutral zone.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Trying to win that face off is Barnes for the Tommies,
but the Badgers win it at McCarthy and McCarthy off
on the wing on the play over the Harvey and
Wisconsin will work it at center rice. Play is going
to be stopped for advancement of the puck with the
hand down to twelve fifty two remaining in the period.
(37:17):
That'll draw the face off back in the zone of
Wisconsin to the right side of Aba McNaughton. N right
is out along with Picard and Wasnvitch trying to win
that face off. The Badgers win about sixty percent of
their face offs and come through center Rice with it
(37:41):
as Harvey. Harvey pulls up and plays it. Try to
go to Enright and it's turned back by the Tommies.
Two on two. They come in over the Wisconsin line.
Lindsey is forced away from the play. Badgers work it
in over the line with it, as was Nevitch at
the right point, trying to get help from Harvey and Picard.
It's per card with a pucket. Center Ice comes back
(38:03):
in over the Tommy line on the near boards, back
on the play over to end right En right back
door on the shot. Oh, right out in front was Nevitch?
Was there, man, but it was cleared from the crease area.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Boy, when it's sitting there and that blue painting looks
like it's so easy to score a goal, but not
to be son of a gun and.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Twelve ten remaining. Yeah, I was laying right there in
front of the line, you know, got six eight inches
away from going into the net.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Just sitting there. Oh, I thought maybe Enright was gonna
puke it in.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Ac O'Brien will try to win the face off. Here
it does in the plate to Sims, who leaves it
for Murphy. Murphy with it Edwards right out in front
of the goal. Badgers with pressure go back to the
point on the playover the sims down along the boards.
They tried to play it to Edwards, but did Tommy's
turn and they'll move it up ice. Sagovich comes in
(38:59):
over the line man the pass went behind the Breen
breaking in on the far wing and Potter with it
carries it back in over the Tommy line along the
back wall in the Saint Thomas zone picked up and
O'Brien looking to hold it there it's Potter with over
the drive and it's scooped up into the glove ob
Strum who put it away to stop the action.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Well, let's see here we got O'Brien in the face
off circle to the left of the goaltender. Strums. See
what you can do with it.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
Here Pere Andrews got the even strength goal, the first
one of the game. Shots are eight to one. Wisconsin
had a decided edge and shots in the game last night.
Here Potter over to try and control it, and that
one flipped up into the Badger bench next to Dan Cook,
who's been around the program for twenty years. Yeah, yeah,
(39:55):
he's a charge of defense and only kill. Huh.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, he's been here a long time. He took a
two year hiatus, went up to Shattock Saint Mary's and
came back.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
And Jackie's she's been here about sixteen years. As Mark said,
he's got an old staff. And that's a good thing.
That's my eighteenth year. Eighteenth Yeah, sixteen, eighteen and twenty. Yeah,
you're not the rookie of the sea. No face off
just outside the blue line and it's going to be
(40:28):
picked up there by Paul and working it ahead on
the play comes back in over the line, knocking it down.
That's Cluff with it and controlling it in the neutral zone.
The Badger's try to pick it up, but Saint Thomas
dumps it down to the Badger's zone. Sour is the
one that played it there and Wisconsin comes out of
(40:49):
their own zone controlling the puck. They'll move it in
over the line and it's cleared from in front of
the Tommy Nat. They work it along the boards, coming
up ice, controlling it as they move it in over
the line. That's Housey off on the place shot McNaught
and kicked it in the corner as Bart's had taken
the drive, Wisconsin turns Edward's with it. Edwards leaves it
(41:12):
there on the rush. Jungle skates in over the line,
or pardon me, that is O'Brien. O'Brien with it off,
doesn't play the sims. It comes back over to Eden
as a little gibb and go there along the near
boards and coming back up ice the Tommy's back into
the Badger line played by Berger. As Wisconsin goes back.
(41:33):
We have ten minutes and thirteen seconds remaining. They try
to lead it to Goarba tanko, but it was cleared
away by Barts who turns and clearing it out of
the zone. Was Parker at center ice. The Tommys try
to play it in over the Wisconsin line, and it's
going to be played along the boards. The Tommies are
(41:53):
playing pretty well, or are they not? Here in the
first period they are.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
It's you know, the shots are a little different, but
the looks pretty even, you know, eight to.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Two in shots and the Badgers with a one to
nothing lead, and Wisconsin at center ice skates in over
the line, pulling it up and a backhander taken by Hall.
Eden came over to try and help out Gorbitanco trying
to chase it down, beating Gorbitanco to it was Barts
but trailing the Badgers clear it out, venusio at it
(42:25):
plaid it off the stick, controlling it coming in over
the line, haul with it, trying to go to Eden
and it's going to be turned and the play down
deep in the zone in the corner and holding it
there is in right en right controlling it in right
in front. They got was navig but they couldn't get
her the pass and chasing it down. It's end right
(42:47):
and right with it and right down on the corner
on the left side over the Jungles. Jungles is bumped
behind the goal by Carl and the Tommy's turn and
trying to bring it out. At the point, Wisconsin holds
it in with the card pocard off Harvey. She fanned
on the drive and trickled in on the goaltender.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Beautiful pass from Picard there, I think from out at
the point as Harvey took the right wing bolt to
the goal and just fanned on the pass right outside
the crease.
Speaker 4 (43:18):
Harvey needs one more point. We're going to take a break.
This is Wisconsin Badger hockey.
Speaker 15 (43:24):
Life has its moments, times to remember and share. Make
the most of those special occasions by visiting Goodman Steelers
at two twenty State Stream. We're here to help you
make that perfect selection for your memorable moment.
Speaker 16 (43:36):
The best is that Goodman's snakes zombies. Public speaking, the
list of fears is endless, but the real danger is
in your hand when you're behind the wheel. Distracted driving
is what's really scary and even deadly. Ice Forward, Don't
drive distracted. Brought to you by Nitze and the Odd Council.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
Yeah, we're back. You're at Le Bond Arena where the
Badgers leaded one to nothing here in the first period.
The goal of the game came fifty two seconds into
the period and I was scored to buy Casey O'Brien
her ninth goal of the year. Casey's having a wonderful season.
She leads the NCAA thirty one assists twenty or twenty
(44:20):
three assists thirty one points. She needs one more assists
to break the all time career assist record at Wisconsin.
She leads the nation in active points coming into this
game with two hundred and seventeen, and she's in the
faceoff circle right now, sims is and she wants that
(44:41):
and coming over it's Harvey with it over to Edwards,
back on on top over the Harvey hopped over her stick.
She backs it up to the Badger line, fires it
around over to Edwards, back over to Harvey. She carries
it in over the line, try to put a move
and went to the backhander shot at wine. Johnson will
try to work the wing and it comes back to Jungles,
(45:03):
Jungles to Harvey. Do you see how quickly she got
back to her position defensively from being down in the corner.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
Yeah, she goes all the way below the goal line
and she's the last.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
All of a sudden, he's back at the point yep
and it's going to be set up and angled off
the boards, and it comes all the way back and
Harvey will skate it down and behind that she'll play
it back Jurgensen. Jurgensen trying to take it away and
for check and hold it in for Saint Thomas and
the play at the blue line and the Tommy's down
(45:35):
on the corner of the right side, Wisconsin will turn up,
comes the Badgers off on the wing. They come in
over the line and with it O'Brien who went to
Edwards shot and that was blocked and it was controlled
at center rise. Good puckman movement there on the part
of Wisconsin on the line of Sims, O'Brien and.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Edwards is transitioning really quickly by both teams. Is today, Paul,
You know it's up and out of the zone quickly.
Speaker 4 (46:03):
Seven twenty reminting in the period, Wisconsin comes in over
the line, Eden moving it a nice move to get
herself free, but the shot is into the glove of
Strum and she put it away.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Yeah, created good space there by Eden for a strong
wrist shot from the right dot.
Speaker 4 (46:20):
Base off coming up here in the first period. Badgers
next weekend will be out in Maine to take on
the main black Bears and controlling it just inside the
blue line. Wisconsin and Saint Thomas both at full strength
and controlling it and Potter with it on the gift
(46:42):
over to Murphy on the near circle, fired it. Potter
deepened the zone as a defenseman trying to hold the
buck there the Badgers trying to work it back along
in behind the back wall, but it's cleared by the
Tommys wrink wat in the past. They try to lead
it ahead and Parker fired it in behind McNaughton. Wisconsin
(47:04):
back on the break over to Gorbatanko. Gorbatanko flips it
down in the corner. Six minutes thirty two seconds Fromgan
a period out as the line of the hall along
with Eden. Eden played it trying to go right side.
On the pass. Kotlowski dumps it in, hit the back
wall and came toward the left wing corner. Wisconsin try
(47:26):
to move it to the slot within right, but there
was nobody home and in the corner on the far boards.
Badgers dig it out with Wasnevitch. Was Nevitch with a
drive and that went off the skates. I believe the
sad Jet Sadjevic and it's going to be played by
Saint Thomas back of their own goal. They lead it
(47:46):
out on the break and the Venusio knocks that down
and breaks it up. She turned tried to angle it
off the boards, but it's played back and whistle and
place stopped at the blue line of the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
Off sides by the Tommies.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
Eleven to two in shots, one to nothing in the
game with five point fifty remaining in the period and
we'll have the face off coming up. That's Ella Burger
for the Tommies against Percard. Badgers win the draw and
they play it in front of the Badger bench farboard
center ice. Waznevitch is there looking for help. Got it
(48:26):
from O'Brien Venusio off on the play in the neutral zone,
intercepted by the Tommies, then taken back by Percard Picard
moving it up. Ice comes in of the line, Percard
with it, working the wing down on the corner on
the near side, chasing it down, that's Stensley. Stenslee moves
(48:47):
it out of her own zone. Tommy's two on two.
They come to the line of Wisconsin sour trying to
pick it up, moving it in. Shot kicked out by McNaughton,
cleared and the Tommies hold it in. They back toward
the goal on the near side. Wisconsin turns and they
clear to the center ice area and the puck is
(49:08):
loose right there. Badger's back along the boards, Wisconsin in
control four point fifty, remitting in the first period. Badgers
are fourteen to zero against the Tommys in their career
and they turn shot and it's going to be blocked
by Strom.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
Heck of an effort there. Good for check by Vassar
down below the goal line on the end wall gave
us an opportunity to get a good shot on net.
Speaker 4 (49:37):
Well, how would you analyze the first period so far?
Speaker 3 (49:40):
Not too bad. We're moving the puck quicker like we
had hoped. You know, we don't see a lot of
dilly dallion in our defensive zone trying to break it out.
Break out. It's a lot better.
Speaker 4 (49:48):
Face out coming up back to the left side of
Strom out as Sims man controlling, get Harvey to Sims
in front. O'Brien tried to tip it and the play
back just inside the line Wisconsin turning an O'Brien play.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Oh that came loose. Yeah, the goalie thought or the
referee thought the goaltender had the puck.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
It was loose, and sims is going no way, come on,
come on rough, Yeah, give it her the business.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
But it happened.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
She was right there too.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
Yeah, she would have slatted her in if it was live.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
She had a goal in the this first game of
the series. She's got seven goals on the ear. Sims
does she gave the puck off over the Jungles. Jungles
down in the corner. Jungles has pinned along the wall
there by brown and controlling it. And this is Sims
around over the Jungles down in the corner on the
(50:47):
pass to O'Brien around on the far side, back over
to Sims. Sims pulls up in the corner, try to
give it to Edwards in the circle. A little action
going on to the nearboards. Badgers set it up at
the point over the Jungles, Jungles controlling at angles it
off on the wing on the air side. That's Sims
with it. Sims around to O'Brien, given go to Edwards.
(51:10):
Edwards leaving it, picked it up and fired it across
ice and it's controlled by Sims. Sims with it, moving
it around, plays it around over the Jungles. Jungles with
a drive knocked down and it's covered and the save
is made by Strong.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
Thats a nice shot by Jungles. She was able to
get the shot through. Nobody blocked it. The goaltender made
to save it hopped out of her glove though. If
somebody's down the doorstep, we got a rebound to work with,
so that's a nice play.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Fifty two seconds into the period, Wisconsin got the only
goal of the game, the ninth of the year for
Casey O'Brien, who's out of Milton, mass She's a senior,
had a wonderful career here at Wisconsin. Got seventy nine goals,
now eighty in her career, two hundred and seventeen points.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
That's a lot of points.
Speaker 4 (52:00):
And there's a drive and a cover up in front
of the net As coming over to pick it up
to play along the boards, and it got past Murphy
and she'll drop it back over to Potter. Potter played
it off the glass near side, and it's going to
be backhanded into the corner by Stensley, but back is
Murphy backhanded around over to Potter on the farm side.
(52:21):
Tommy's hold it in. McNaughton makes the gloves save and
stocks the action here with three h seven or remedic
in the period. You know, we talk about O'Brien all
those points. I think you got to attribute it to
the fact that she never stops moving her feet.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
That's a big, big, you know, part of that.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
She was one of two candidates for the Badgers for
the Patty Kasmier Award last year, the other being Kirsten Simms.
A lot of people thought one of the two would
win it, but it went to a gal from out
east Cornell player yep and comes back in over the line,
controlling it and play moving it up Ice And those
(53:03):
two are back again this year, the same two, and
you might have to add Harvey to the list of
potential candidates. I would think, yeah, I think so, Paul,
I would agree with you and play in front of
the Tommy bench around on the far side over to
try and control it. I've often wondered if the voters,
I'm not sure who they are, if they split the
(53:25):
vote because there were two badgers.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
Yeah, yeah, I know it almost worked against them.
Speaker 4 (53:31):
May have worked against them two twenty four remaining here
in the first period. Don't know that officially right, kind
of logical when you think about it, and coming up
Ice controlling it. Gorbatanko goes in over the line, eating
along the boards on the near side. Tommy's turn. They
carry it to the Wisconsin line. Parker on the wing
(53:51):
plays it back over to Brown and Brown fired the
puck and the Tommy's worked behind the out of Wisconsin
fourteen four are in shots, but it's so wand it
up in game only and play in front of the
Badger net, gloved by kott Lawski. Badger's trying to bring
it out of the zone. The Tommy's look to hold
(54:11):
it in and play a right at the point in
front of the Badger bench. Eden is there, Brown is there,
Sadjavic is there coming over to try and help out.
Was Burin who picked it up and fired it into
the glove of mcknought. Wow, we're gonna take a break.
This is Wisconsin Badger Hockey.
Speaker 17 (54:31):

Speaker 4 (55:08):
Running with it is Burreen and in the neutral zone
over to pick it up and control it. Bringing it
back is Maxwell. We're down to under a minute remaining
here in the first period and play stopped back in
the Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
Yeah, this period went fast here, I think what penalty
free and only one goal scored. So yep, that lo,
stopage your play.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
Early in the game, less than a minute into the game,
Wisconsin scored a five on five goal.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
O'Brien wins the draw there in her defensive zone. I
like that.
Speaker 4 (55:45):
And it's played around on the far side over to Edwards.
Edwards controlling it, moving it up ice and coming in
over the line, trying to control it. Sims with it,
Sims trying to move it towards the loot comes back
on the play on the wing and controlled as it's
set up by the Tommies and carried in over the
Wisconsin line. Stensley with it. Stensley along the boards. Ooh,
(56:09):
Edwards looked like she got hit. Yeah, yeah, she's skating
trying to skate it off though shot Oh just tip?
Why that was a nice play by O'Brien there almost
got the tip in.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Goal ailer stick and it almost guided it right in
thirteen seconds remaining in the period. Wisconsin out in front
here in Lebond Arena, over the tommies of Saint Thomas,
and there's a drive by Sims rebound over to Harvey
and she fired it high and wide of the goal.
Your thoughts in the first period, Greenie, Well, we're creating
(56:42):
some opportunities. Just got to get that pucked through to
the net. Jump on those rebounds.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
All right, sir, We'll like it. Zach self will be

Come back to the intermission, show everybody at lebon Arena.
The Badger's lead the Saint Thomas Tommy's won to nothing
after one period of action. She's first in assists, first
in points in the NCAA, the only player in the
NCAA averaging more than two points per game. But she
scores goals as well. That's Captain number twenty six, Casey O'Brien.
She gets the first and only tally for the Badgers
so far in this game, at just fifty two seconds
(59:20):
into the first period, an even strength goal with assists
from Kirsten Simms and Ava Murphy, and that so far
is the only scoreboard action that we have had in
this game. The Badgers with fifteen shots on goal twenty
eight total shots. Saint Thomas held to just five shots
on goal and nine total shots. The Badgers have won
sixteen faceoffs against just eight for the Tommies. The Tommies
(59:43):
have blocked eight shots in this game, the Badger's only three,
but so far it's been all Badgers. However, they have
not been able to get them to fall. And just
looking back through my notes here at seven point fifty
in the first period, the puck was sitting in the
blue paint. The Badgers have been hammering away the third line.
Aaron Right, Sarah Westnovitch and Mary and Picard all dove
in to try and get it past. A tremendous effort
(01:00:06):
by Saint Thomas was the only thing that kept that
from being a freebie. With eleven eighteen to go, Harvey
wide open and she swung over the top of the puck.
She was streaking in from the top of the far circle,
got to the bottom of the circle, where she received
an incredible outlet pass from the opposite side of the ice,
wound up and just swung right over the top of
the puck. And then with just twenty seconds to go
(01:00:27):
in the game, O'Brien got a killer feet on a
very similar setup. Her tip went just high over the cage.
And then with fifty five seconds gone and nineteen fifty
five gone, so just five seconds left in the period,
Carolyn Harvey got another one down near the bottom of
the fire circle. She rifled one towards the net, but
it was just wide. The Badgers had a number of
(01:00:48):
very high danger chances, but for some tough bounces, some
tough angles, and some great goaltending, they would have three, four,
even five on the scoreboard so far. We did have
one injury in that period, and that was to Lindeman
Ilsa Lindaman, number twenty nine, the freshman forward out of Duluth,
Minnesota for Saint Thomas. I could not tell if she
(01:01:08):
took a puck or a stick in the face. There
was no penalty as sets, so I believe it was
a puck because it looked like she was getting into
a passing lane. But she did have a little bit
of blood from her mouth. The referees cleaned that up.
She was taken off by the trainer, but was able
to go off under her own power. Hopefully she's all
right and just sustained a cut to her to her lip.
We'll let you know if we do get any further details.
(01:01:29):
But again she went off on her own power and
seemed otherwise. Okay, not too long of a stoppage, as
the referees got things cleaned up and we kept playing.
So that's how it's going here. In the first period,
the Badgers do everything they can to score. Only one
of them falls, but if they keep playing like that,
they're going to get quite a few more. We're going
to take a short break. We'll be back with some
scores from around the league and a little bit more
(01:01:50):
on the intermission.

Speaker 8 (01:04:00):
Welcome back to Laban everyone, if you're just joining us.
The Badger's lead the Saint Thomas Tommy's won nothing after
one period of action. We've got about eight and a
half minutes left in this first intermission. The Badgers, as
we talked about, had a ton of opportunities in that
first period. They did everything they could to make them count.
Their first goal came at fifty two seconds in. That
was the only goal of the period for either team,
(01:04:20):
and after that the Badgers just felt a little bit
snake bit, getting chance after chance but could not quite
get it to the back of the net. As we
look around the rest of the NCAA, currently, the Badger
football team is an action against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It
is twenty seven to ten in favor of Nebraska. That
it was eight fifty six to go in the third period.
Looking around the world of women's hockey, Badgers, of course,
(01:04:41):
upon nothing after the first period. Here on Saint Thomas,
at the end of the second period, Saint Cloud State
is leading. Minnesota won nothing, so the Huskies over the
Gophers won nothing after two periods, complete a possible upset alert. There,
Quinnipiac and Colgates are battling it out and late in
the third period Colgate up three to one. In that game,
Boston College and Yukon will get going a little later on,
(01:05:02):
Minnesota State defeats Ohio State four to one. So unranked
Minnesota State defeats number two Ohio State four to one
in an extremely consequential WCCHA game.
Speaker 4 (01:05:12):
There.
Speaker 8 (01:05:13):
We'll keep an eye to see what happens in other
games with that matchup in mind. Minnesota Duluth number four
defeats but Midgey State two to nothing. Clarkson over Yale
number six, Clarkson winning four to three in overtime. Cornell
also four to three victors over Princeton. Cornell at number
eight currently a tie that went to a shootout with
Saint Lawrence and Brown one to one. A shootout taking
(01:05:34):
place presently number twelve Pence State blanks Robert Morris Ford
to nothing. Rit defeated Mercyhurst four to three. Stone Hill
and Saint Ansome also in a shootout tied one to
one at the end of regulation. There, Lindenwood gets a
victory over the Orange of Syracuse four to one. Providence
defeats Harvard in an IVY League battle three to two.
In overtime. Sacred Heart takes down Franklin Pierce four to nothing,
(01:05:54):
LU and Post going to a shootout tied two to two.
Rensel Yeer took down Merrimac two to one, and Assumption
three to one over Saint Michael's. But the big news
there two big upsets in the WCHA. Saint Cloud State
Huskies defeat the Minnesota Golden Gophers one to nothing Saint
Cloud at number ten, Minnesota at number three, and then
an unranked Minnesota State man Cato team defeats Ohio State.
(01:06:16):
The number two Ohio State Buck Guy's beaten four to
one by Minnesota State. A big big upset in women's
hockey there, Looking over at men's hockey. Currently air Force
and Bentley are in action. Air Force trailing one nothing
in that game. Clarkson is over Yale one to nothing
late in the third period, Mercy harriston Canisius going out
(01:06:36):
at Canisius on top two nothing, and stone Hill and
Lindenwood are currently scoreless as their game is about to
get underway in just a few minutes. So Paul Brown
is back with us, and Paul, I don't know if
you heard as you were putting your headset back on.
Ohio State falls four to one.
Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
Yeah, yeah, I was talking to Bill Bolf and he's
the one that filled me in. He goes, yeah, the
Buckeyes got beat so Wisconsin. They've already got thirty points
in the league, and you look at the bottom half
of the league and you wonder mathematically they could be
eliminated in about a month.
Speaker 8 (01:07:12):
Well in Minnesota State making their argument to stay in
there because taking three off of Ohio State no easy task.
Speaker 4 (01:07:19):
The Badgers had a heck of a time watch the
bat or. Ohio State's got two games in hand over Wisconsin,
they absolutely do.
Speaker 8 (01:07:25):
Yeah, they've played an extra pair and then Minnesota also
falling too. Saint Cloud States State beats them one nothing so.
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
And the Badgers are fortunate. And when here then could
potentially take two at man Cato's State, Boy, that would
be thirty three and six thirty nine points at the break.
That would be pretty darn good for the first half.
Speaker 8 (01:07:45):
Of the year, going into the holiday break, you would
be extremely happy with that. And I gotta say this
feels reminiscent of the old Black and Blue Division, the
old NFC North that the Packers played in for so long,
where even when all the teams were good, they just
beat up on each other. You could never get far
out ahead the Badgers with a chance to break that
open and get open wide. You hear the strains of
(01:08:05):
Neil Diamond going through the sealing system. Here we have
the sing along cam going as everyone sings Sweet Caroline
about four and a half minutes until we get back
into action.
Speaker 4 (01:08:14):
Here, Paul, I can't sing.
Speaker 8 (01:08:18):
I should, I'm contractually prohibited from singing. But in that
period it felt to me like the Badgers had three,
four or five chances that could have been goals. If
you're Mark Johnson, you're you're down there talking to him,
are you just telling them keep doing what.
Speaker 4 (01:08:31):
We're doing what you're doing. It's working, right, That's what
I think. That's what I would say, because they got
the opportunities, but Andre was there were so many of
them that were just so close, you know, to going in.
Speaker 24 (01:08:46):
But that's the game, right, that's the beauty of the game.
That's what makes hockey so much fun. You've talked about
a lot on these broadcasts, and I mentioned it at
the top of the pregame show. It does seem like
teams are starting to bring a more physical style of
play when they come against with Cosin we're seeing Saint Thomas,
They're looking to initiate contact, They're trying to start battles.
I've been interested to see though, that the Badger's pushing
(01:09:07):
back a little bit.
Speaker 8 (01:09:08):
I saw Gorbitenko and Eating both that were getting lined
up for hits instead initiate contact, kind of take it
to the town.
Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
I think that's the reputation that's going around. At least
that's what I sense. You know, I haven't been involved
with it that long and that kind of thing, but
as you start traveling around a little bit and start
seeing people or meeting people that are involved with women's
hockey and the WCHA that's kind of the consensus that
they everybody says the same team, same thing. They're probably
(01:09:38):
the most talented team in women's college hockey Ohio State
and maybe Minnesota maybe Delude not that far behind. But
when you're playing Wisconsin, if you keep them in their
own zone and you bang them, because they love to go,
as you can see, they love to skate and pass
the puck and kind of thing. So I don't think
(01:10:01):
it's any secret that people look at it and go
if we're going to be able to do it. The
one thing that happens, and here's another example of it
in this game, they continue to roll for right and
three sets a d Saint Thomas is minus two players.
They took one out of the lineup and one got hurt,
(01:10:23):
and so you wonder as the second and third period
roll around, it'll be we can watch it and see
what happened.
Speaker 8 (01:10:30):
One thing that I've seen the Tommys kind of fail
at it or not have the success that they would
have wanted. That other teams that have battled Wisconsin have
been able to do better is to clog up the
passing lanes. We saw a lot of really killer cross
eyes board to board passes that set up some of
those great chances that Saint Thomas is going to have
to figure something out of for that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:50):
If they want to stay in this game, well, hopefully
the Badgers can put some up in the second period.
That's their biggest period for gold production. They've outscored their
opponent's thirty two to shaban in the sacond period. But
just think eighty eight goals ready on the year in
that's crazy. They may get too close to one hundred
(01:11:11):
and fifty to two hundred goals that they keep going.
But I think in the league, especially against Duluth and
Minnesota and Ohio State when they play them again, they're
not going to score seven eight goals a game or
anything like that.
Speaker 8 (01:11:24):
I mean, it's such an insane pace you feel like
they can't keep it up. I am looking forward. For
those of you who don't know, the Ohio State home
series here in Madison is a split series. They're going
to play in Madison on January second, the day after
New Year's then January fourth, they are going to be
playing in Wrigley Field or Chicago at the Frozen Confines
they're calling it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:46):
Take a look.
Speaker 8 (01:11:46):
There are still tickets available I know because I think
that's going to be a fun one.
Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
Bill Brophy and I were just talking about that, and
you wonder what the weather, the impact the weather is
going to have on that game. Get a game or
it could be thirty five degrees and no win. You
could get a game right off the lake where it's
ten below and the wind chill is about fifteen below.
Speaker 8 (01:12:12):
Those of you who aren't Cubs fans or haven't been
down to Wrigley Lake, Michigan has a big effect on
that on that stadium, and in the wintertime especially, you
can get ten feet of lake effects snow where you
can have the most pleasant day that you can imagine.
We got about five seconds until we starting a mission.
Speaker 4 (01:12:29):
I don't know us old guys. You're gonna stay warm.
It's all about layers fault.
Speaker 8 (01:12:33):
I see Mark Greenhall coming down.
Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
I'll give it to you.
Speaker 8 (01:12:36):
Enjoy the second period.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
All right. We'll begin with the period. Both teams at
full strength, and it's going to be played in over
the Wisconsin line. Saint Thomas with it cluff the defenseman
played it back along the boards and Wasnavitch picks it
up for the Badgers, leading it out, trying to lead
it to per Card, but Card with it and plays
(01:12:58):
it around over Tonavitch trying to go back to the
point on the play and the puck is loose in
the neutral zone. We are underway. Shots are fifteen to five.
In the second period. Badgers move it in with a
backhander and that steered away good moving the part of
the Badger's in right there to try to go to
the backhander turned around by Brown. Brown plays it to
(01:13:20):
the Badger line over to try and pick it up.
Was Nevitch trying to skate it down, Harvey, you'll go
back and pick it up for Wisconsin. Rvy with the puck,
comes out of her own zone, moving the puck ahead.
RV carries it in over the line, circles on the
far side, goes deep in the zone, pulls up on
the far boards, played it around, controlling it. Kirsten Simms
(01:13:43):
came over to try and help out. Back at center ice,
Wisconsin in the neutral zone trying to control it. Edwards
is there, O'Brien is there. Badger's regroup and they'll work
it through center ice and they'll drive it down from
left to right in the corner and Edward's trying to
skate it down and hold it in the zone. The
Tommy's turn tried to bring it out. Sim's looking to
(01:14:05):
pick it up, carries it in the corner and controls
back over to Edwards. Edwards with a drive off the
plexiglass loose to the boards on the near side Wisconsin
waiting at the point. Badgers hold it in O'Brien Edwards
and the drive and the cover up nice saved there
by Strom.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
Yeah, Strom's having a heck of a game. They tested
her on that one little dish passed from Edwards quick
shot on net.
Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
Well sixteen to five in shots. No penalties called in
the game thus far. Lacy Eden is out with Cassie
Hall and Kelly Gorbatanko based off coming up back into
Tommy zone. The draw went against the back wall, fired
around off on the play and the Tommys will drive
(01:14:52):
it down to the Badger's zone and McNaughton with it
turn clears it out over the Gorbatanko who's tied up
its enter, eyes by Berger and whistle and play stopped
at the blue line of Saint Thomas. Saint Thomas comes
into this game with a record of two eight and
(01:15:14):
one in league play. They are one in six away
from their home rank. The Badgers are ten and zero
in the w pardon me, they're ten and one in
the WCHA. And it's going to be set up and
controlled down in the corner, back in behind the net
(01:15:34):
trying to control it. We have seventeen forty eight remitting
the one loss of course to Ohio State in the league.
Laid a round back in behind over to Eden. Eden
controlling the puck. Aiden thirteen goals in the year, same
total as Edwards and Gorbatanko in behind the nap and
along the back wall. The Badger's trying to control it.
(01:15:57):
Edwards works it back to the point on the play
and it's played by Venusio. It comes around over to Eden.
Eiden on the wing on the right side controlling the puck,
and Eden, with its circles, comes in on the far
side moves it right out in the run. Good effort,
and it was cleared from her stick on that little
solo rush and circle move there nice after Tommy's turn
(01:16:21):
and there's a collision. One of the Tommy's goes down
and they call tripping on the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
I'd like to see two minutes for embellishment there.
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
Paul, Yeah, me too. On the tripping call, I thought.
Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
Harvey played that well defensively, and the sat Tommy's player
went down. I think most of it was on her
own accord, but I'm not wearing the stripes today.
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
So two fifty nine the time of the penalty on
the Badgers, and that'll send that. Tommy's on the power
play here.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
Yeah, Harvey, good play, but has to sit for two. Hey,
I understand man Cato beat Ohio State. Yeah, back back
to the point that Tommy's on the power play. So far,
there are four of forty three on the man advantage
so far this season. They'll work the wing on the
(01:17:14):
far side controlling it that Stensley and Off on the play,
and right out in front they got Barts coming over
to try and help out. Power play five on four
advantage four Saint Thomas and it's picked up by Clough
trying to bring it out of the zone and moving
it in Cloff a little given go shot mcnock with
(01:17:35):
the save and the rebound is going to be cleared
by Wisconsin. They move it up ice on the brake
intended for Wasnavitch?
Speaker 4 (01:17:43):
Was Nevitch? Hustles back, but the Tommy's control the puck
with it as Maxwell on the play, they come out
of their own zone to center rice controlling it and
they'll pull up and turn and controlling it. There was
off and play at center ice, man advantage for Saint
(01:18:04):
Thomas fifty seven seconds remitting in the power play. Badgers
lead it one to nothing in the game. They try
to send over it right out in front. There's a
driving It went wide of the net, fired by Parker
Marker along the wing on the far side, holding it
in back over to Brown his drive his block and
Wisconsin backhands it out with Harvey on the play, Eden
(01:18:27):
along with Percard go over to pick it up, moving
it in. Here's Eden with a backhander and can't hit
it away, but he played defensively there keep Wayton from
taking the shot. It would have been nice get a
shorty hunt and Wisconsin still shorthanded. They play it back
to the point, but Murphy's got to move it out
over to center ice to regroup and controlling it. His
(01:18:49):
potter Bonner on the lead picked up and coming to
the line. O'Brien tried to get the lead pass from Edwards,
but that was out in front. Of her and the
penalty time is up and the Badgers are back at
full strength.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Yeah, kott Lewski's joining us again.
Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
And coming back in. There's a shot. McNaughton covered up,
the puck came loose in the slot. Another shot in
the goal by Brown. Brown gets their eighth goal of
the year, and the Saint Thomas Tommy's half tied Wisconsin
at won.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
Yeah. The third shots, the one that went in, boy,
that was a tough one. Eve ended up on her back,
practically made one, saved in a second one.
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
I believe in Saint Thomas getting the goal and uh
Parker got one assist. So it's a one to one
game here. Played back down in the corner over to
try and control it. Potter Wood back around on the
far side, over to try and bring it up. Play
(01:19:55):
in the neutral zone and it's going to be dumped
back down to the Badgers zone. O'Brien back over to
pick it up behind the net.
Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
You've got a game in her hands.
Speaker 4 (01:20:03):
You're fat and controlling it. Edwards down in the corner,
back on the play over to O'Brien to the point
on the far side. Badger's moved the puck it's Edwards
down on the corner on the far boards, centered it.
Nobody home and it comes all the way back out
over to center ice with it is Potter, Potter moving
back in over the line, Potter pulling up on the
(01:20:25):
wing on the left side, wire to rister her that
went high and wide of the goal. Murphy in the
corner and she'll play it around on the far side,
control to get his sims down on the corner far boards,
Sims a little given goal on the left side, Wisconsin
controlling it. Here's Edwards with it, leaving it on the
wing and the Tommy's turn and they'll bring it out
(01:20:47):
of their own zone on the far boards, come in
over the line and they'll fire a shot in on
McNaughton who knocked it off the pad, and the play
down back in behind the net. Harvey's skating over to
pick it up, drop said back of it at Jungles
behind the goal. Thirteen to twenty nine, remitting Badgers Gorbatankle
with it off on the wing stick to stick to
(01:21:09):
Edwards in over the line. Edwards pulls up and fires it,
shutting the goal right and Wisconsin gets the goal. It's
scored by all for Hall. It was goal number eleven
and the Badgers get back out in front two to one.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Now that's one there where Layla Edwards pulled the trigger.
She had a great shot. The goaltender Straw makes a
same haul's there for the rebound Bengal goal, But it
starts with Edward's shot on net. That was a beautiful
shot on net by her. Like to see that all day.
Speaker 4 (01:21:48):
Andwards with the assists six forty two the time of
the goal here in the second period, and the Badgers
come right back and take the lead. Love it coming
up bvice Eden comes to the blue line and whistle
and play is going to be stopped. Yeah, So Paul
gets the goal. It's an even assist by Edwards, and
(01:22:08):
Gorbatanko picks up and assists as well.
Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
I just love when Edward shoots the puck on net
and hits the net. Good things will happen.
Speaker 4 (01:22:19):
He saw it right there and it's gonna be played
by the Badgers turning trying to move out in front.
Harvey with a drawn in front, poking at it. A
pile up right there and the play stop. But it's
not in the net.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
Boy, oh boy, Yeah, you could put a net over
everybody there. They're all in the blue paint trying to
jam that puck in. Nice saved by Strom. We'll have
a face off to probably her left.
Speaker 12 (01:22:45):
I believe.
Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
We're getting pucks to the net and we're getting trafficked
to the net. That's what I like to see. Paul
gonna lead to goals eventually, like that last what we
just saw.
Speaker 4 (01:22:59):
Face off coming up now with twelve fifty seven remaining
here in the second period of play, and it's gorbett
our pardoning. It's bonusio, bonusio. With the drive why of
the goal, kott Lawski turns, tries to bring it in,
but the Tommys will play it back down. Wisconsin quickly
(01:23:20):
Banucio offen the play on the wing. It comes around
on the near side and Wisconsin at center ice trying
to pick it up. The crowd chanting one to two.
We want more.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
It may take more, Yeah, it probably will. But good
aggressive port checking there by Picard. I like to see
that forces the opponents just to ice the puck, and
now we got an offensive zone face off.
Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
I like that. Good hustle by Picard. Third assists of
the year on the goal that was scored to Parker
the assist on the goal that was scored by Brown,
the eighth of the year, and Sadjib picked up an
assist as well, that is her fourth of the year,
(01:24:05):
and their goal was five h nine. The Badger goal
was at six forty two of the period and it
was scored by Hall, Hall's eleventh goal of the year,
Edwards getting an assist her fourteenth of the year, and
also Gorbatanko getting an assist her thirteenth of the year.
Given the Badgers that two to one lead, Wisconsin setting
(01:24:26):
it up, controlling it, moving it around, and Sims had
it swept from her stick. Good play there and moving
it up, Ice chasing it down as Murphy, Murphy going
back over to control it. Murphy with it comes out
quickly on the break over to Edwards, Edwards leaving it
and moving it in. O'Brien with a shot right on.
(01:24:47):
Puck came loose and Eduard ships the rebound and the
goal he assist going to Sims, and that will set
the record in in terms of now leadership in the
assists department.
Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
You gotta love it. Like Mark predicted or suggested, let's
get more bucks to the net and more traffic to
the net. We're getting the rebounds. Strom's making the initial
save when we got people on the doorstep we can
work with. It ended up in a beautiful little goal
by Leila Edwards. Nice job, girls, heck of a job.
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
As we said. The record is now held by Casey
O'Brien and a three to one league.
Speaker 3 (01:25:34):
Yeah, she had a nice rister from the high slot
to begin with there by O'Brien. That was good stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:25:40):
And O'Brien with the assist that is number twenty four
of the year for her.
Speaker 3 (01:25:49):
Yeah, that whole shift started with her winning the face off.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
Get a complete game from O'Brien, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Dan Murphy also got an assist now her second. We'll
take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger Hockey. When you

to learn more. We're back at Lebond Arena on the
campus of the UW here in Madison. We've got a
time out. The Badger's leading it by a score of
three to one. Like to see that. Wisconsin had a
goal in the first period fifty two seconds into the
game and it was scored by O'Brien, or ninth goal
(01:26:57):
of the year, and that's where we go. In the
second period, at five or nine of the period, Madison,
Brown got his her eighth goal of the year, a
couple of assists on that. But then the Badgers came
back at six forty two on Hall's eleventh goal of
the year, matching her number. And at seven eighteen it
(01:27:20):
was Harvey on the rebound or Edwards on the rebound
after the shot by Casey. O'Brien and Murphy got an
assistant on that goal as well.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
Yeah, it's good to see, uh, just getting pucks to
the net, you know, not that high and wide, hit
the goaltender, hit the net, give us something to work
with if it doesn't go in. And we got people
going to the net. We got rebounds to work with.
Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
Second period has been the better period for the Badgers
in goal scoring. They now have scored thirty four goals
in the second period alone. That's as many as Saint
Thomas has scored all seasons.
Speaker 3 (01:27:55):
Well, you know, Paul, I knew we were going to
have a game today. You know, that's our conference, you know,
and you look around, I see, you know, man Cato
beats Ohio State. It's just a lot of a lot
of equal stuff in the conference.
Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
Badgers will play at man Cato after next weekend. Thanksgiving weekend,
Badgers will be in Maine. They're gonna have turkey out
there on the East Coast. Then the following weekend they'll
go to man Cato to take on the Mavericks. And
then they're off until January second, when the big bad
(01:28:31):
Buckeyes of Ohio State will be here in town for
a Thursday night game. Then on Saturday, it's off to
Wrigley Field in Chicago, where the Badger men and the
women's teams will be playing at regular field.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
The Friendly Confines and the.
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
Badger women will play it. I believe it's four o'clock
or four point thirty, and the men's game will follow
and it's going to be played. We have eleven you
remining in the period. Saint Thomas little physical on the Badgers,
but uh, nothing happening there, so we'll have just a
(01:29:10):
change of lines here. But yeah, they came to play today,
face off, coming up to the left side of Strum
and off the face off, the Badgers look to set
it up, back over to Harvey, fired and rink wide
over the jungles, jungles with it, played it back down
in the corner, comes back out on top over to Harvey.
(01:29:33):
Harvey back over the jungles with a shot tipped in front,
just wide and trying to skate it down in the corner.
Badgers they have the freshman line out of Halverson along
with McCarthy and Vassar. Vassar getting an opportunity out of Oregon, Wisconsin.
Oregon getting an opportunity to play this would be the
(01:29:54):
fourth game she's played in this year, and turning it
Wisconsin trying to bring it out of their own zone
and the moving it up. There's a shot in covered
up by McNaughton. He's kind of shortened the bench a
little bit in this game, hasn't he That line hasn't
been consistently.
Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
No, he's he's mixing it up, Yeah, no doubt about it.
Just trying different combos here, get people fired up.
Speaker 4 (01:30:20):
Face off, coming up to the left side of McNaughton.
Shots are twenty four to ten in the game so
far and play the Tommy set it up and controlling it,
Sour with it and down in the corner, trying to
pick it up on the loose puck was Bart's Bart's
(01:30:40):
back intended tired and Carl couldn't get there. The Badgers
tried to pick it up, played back down in the corner,
Wisconsin over, kod Lowski turned brought it out. Aiden will
pick it up. Aiden controlling it and it's going to
be set up and coming back in over the line
and tied up his barts and she tried to go
to the NAT Badgers bang it off the near wall
(01:31:03):
and coming over to help out to clear toward the
blue line of Saint Thomas, and it goes all the
way back down on the zone and the Tommies will
go back. Badgers with some pressures trying to hold the zone.
Gorbatanco and Eden along with Potter and Hall are all
in the zone and coming back deep in the corner
(01:31:23):
on the right side. It's a Gorbatanco along with Eden.
Down went Gorbatanco the puck in the corner as the
Badgers hold the zone. Potter tried to pick it up.
Turning was Hall and Hall played it round over to Gorbatanco.
Gorbatanco is tied off Eden from Gorbatanco on her knees.
Gorbatanko tried to play it to Potter and they hold
(01:31:46):
it in moving it in. Here's Hall with it a
backhanded idea cleared from in front of the net, and
it's going to be brought back to the blue line
of Wisconsin, turned there by Murphy. Burphy on the lead.
Murphy carries it in over the line. Murphy's tried to
center it to Edwards. Edwards has scored her fourteenth goal
of the year. Back out on top, there's a drive.
(01:32:09):
It's blocked, cleared from in front of the net by
Burger and it's set up at center ice. Badger's with
a two goal lead. Edwards comes in over the line.
Edward's off on the play. Badgers move it around with
it is O'Brien between the circles. They go Edwards in front.
O'Brien along with Sims. It's Edwards with it behind the
(01:32:31):
net over to try and control it. It's O'Brien in front,
Edwards shot tip wide. Edward's back to the point on
the play over the Potter. Potter with it. Potter on
the play, moves it around on the far circle. The
defenseman carries it right out in front, try to go
to Edwards and it's picked up by the Badger's Murphy.
Murphy controlling and coming out as Harvey you they get
(01:32:54):
a change and controlling it. Here Sims with a wrist
shot and that one high and wide. She teed that
one up.
Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
Yeah, she did. We got some good puck possession here.
We're keeping in the zone and the Badgers hold it
in the zone. Back over to Harvey.
Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
Harvey, that almost seemed like a power play in mils
of opportunity that ball.
Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
We just maintained puck possession the offensive zone.
Speaker 4 (01:33:16):
And it's played around the boards on the far side.
Seven forty eight remaining in the period, three to one.
Wisconsin Sims with it on the plate to Harvey. Harvey
works through center eyes. Harvey carries it in over the
line on the play from Edwards. On a drop pass
from edwards to Harvey and the Tommy's move it to center.
Eyce Harvey with it works in front of the Tommy
(01:33:40):
bench and Saint Thomas with it will turn and play
it back in behind the net of McNaughton. She watches
the play out in front, tipped away by Waznevitch off
on the break and right. They got it hard moving
it in. Shot in the save is made there. Badgers
move it in with a Jungles didn't shoot it in
(01:34:02):
round over to Harvey. Harvey with a drive that's blocked in.
Speaker 3 (01:34:06):
Traffic waited the second two long.
Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
And it's going to be played back down the left
wing boards. Boy, the Badgers with good puck movement.
Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
You're not kidding, Paul. They are.
Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
They're seeing the ice and moving the puck and comes
in over the line off on the wing on the
far side. Put Card is out. Was Nevitch is out
on the ice and we're down to six forty two
reminting in the period at the point Badgers back in
kot Lowski cross ice on the pass. Wisconsin will carry
it in over the line. They try to give it
(01:34:36):
to Percard, but Card with a shot right out in
front is was Nevitch and the Badgers try to free
the puck, but we'll have a stoppage of player.
Speaker 3 (01:34:45):
You know, Strama is making that good initial save when
we get the puck on that. But there are rebounds
to work with and I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:34:51):
We'll take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger hockey.

Out proud here. They've just made the announcement that Casey
O'Brien is now the career leader with one hundred and
thirty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
Oh wow, that's great, that's great. I'm happy for her.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
She works hard and.
Speaker 4 (01:36:18):
Coming over to try and pick it up and play.
Comes back all over to set it up. Kot Lowski
with it, kot Lowski controlling it and back over, controlling
it down back in behind. Oh and Badger's look to
try and bring it out, moving it in. There's a
shot broken up and it's going to be controlled. The
(01:36:40):
moving it up. Ice one hundred and thirty nine assists,
and she had a two hundred and sixteen points coming
into this game, and she's got a goal and an
assist here in this one. Aiden comes back in over
the line, Aiden controlling it, fired it right on, kicked
out bystrom bads Gorbtenko in front of the NAT Badgers
(01:37:03):
work the wing on the far side. They come back
on the pass over to Murphy, but it's played away
from her stick coming back to cover his jungles and
she beats Parker to the play. Badger's regroup. They angle
it off the nearboards on the play, trying to lead
it coming in over the line, and there's a shot
taken by Bassard and back in along the back wall
(01:37:27):
in the zone of the Tommies. Wisconsin over to try
and control it. Three one Wisconsin five oh seven, remaining
second period and with it the Tommies will backhand it
down in the corner and going back as Jungles trying
to take it away from Jungles is sour and Wisconsin.
Bassard with it back hands it in on the wing
(01:37:49):
on the right side, going back over to pick that up.
As Carl and the Tommies bring it out of their
own zone far boards center ice, they try to move
it in the slot back in the Wisconsin zone. Murphy
with it up ended a player there. They and i'd
whistle and uh, I think they're gonna get her for
(01:38:09):
a penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Yeah, the two of them kind of got tangled up
and almost kind of equal, you know, uh going for
the puck and I think you give Murphy two minutes
for being stronger than the other players. What you get
there as the Saint Tommy player went down.
Speaker 4 (01:38:26):
Roughing is the call. Yeah, and that comes at fifteen
twenty two of the period, so that Tommy's to go
back on the power play. That's the second penalty against
the Badgers in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Roughing. She gets, yeah, roughing, Okay, yeah, she uh doing her,
you know, playing defense. Saint Thomas has only got so
far this year four power play goals. Maybe there's a
shorty and the love or the Badger. Look at Eden
go after she's thinking that too.
Speaker 4 (01:38:58):
Around back in behind and Eden leads the Badgers in
power plays with five, and it's back in behind the
net Saint Thomas Clear's comes out of their own zone.
Badger penalty killing unit has Harvey out along with O'Brien
out on the ice. Edon's out on the ice, and
(01:39:20):
so is Venusio, the freshman defenseman. Back to the point
on the near side. Around on the far boards, the
Badger's trying to work it out of the zone, angled
by Stensley along the far side, Stensley to Burger, back
to Stensley around over the barts their number one line
here on the power player. They control it at the
(01:39:41):
point near boards, pulling the trigger, shot deflected right out
in front down is mcnott. Whoa and there was a
big hit by Venusio. Holy smokes. Did she level barts?
Speaker 3 (01:39:55):
Yeah, yes, she did, right in front of the net there,
trying to protect her goalie and keeping them from getting
to the blue paint.
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
I think she loves that contact.
Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
Yeah. Yeah, she's a strong hockey player too. She's got
some real strong legs on her.
Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
And three minutes down, forty seconds reminding in the period
one oh three reminting in a penalty time, yeah, based
off coming up. They didn't call any penalties there and
the puck along the board's near side over to try
and pick it up. Saint Thomas has got fifty six
seconds remaining on the power play. Badger's leaded by a
(01:40:35):
couple of goals. Dap Ice ears Wasnevitch she's bumped as
she tried to cut to the net on the near side.
Saint Thomas back in behind their own goal. They'll start
out down to forty seconds remitting in the power play.
They come through neutral ice in of the line controlling it.
The shot win wat of the goal figured by Kloff
(01:40:57):
and the power play for Saint Thomas around on the
far side with it is Burger. Burger skates between the
dots out high and on the near boards. We'll pass
it around, controlling it in the corner and behind the net.
They got Brown right out in front. Shot is block,
nice block there, yeah, two blocks in front of the net.
(01:41:20):
Badgers collapsed in front of their goaltender. There some great
d by Cot, yes exactly, and back at full strength
the Badgers, So Saint Thomas doesn't convert on the power play.
Badgers are back and Murphy goes off and Wisconsin changes
up and coming out on the ice is Sims. But
(01:41:41):
it's held in. There's a shot high and wide. Oh boy,
shot the goal on the rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
They came off the end wall, Paul on one side.
Speaker 4 (01:41:51):
And the goal is scored by Brown, his second goal
of the game, her second goal of the game, you know,
and her ninth goal of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
Both of their goals were scored at equal strength. But
right after a power play, a power play for them concluded,
you know what I mean, yeah, like just seconds and
within seconds after their power play concluded, they still had
a little momentum there and popped one in off the
end wall.
Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
So it's now only a one goal lead for the Badgers,
thirty one to seventeen in shots, two sixteen remaining in
the period, and it's going to be played back in
behind the Tommy's net. Got to give them a lot
of credit. They're battling down in the corner on the
far boards over to set it up. The Badger's controlling
(01:42:39):
it with it as Murphy Murphy with it comes off
on the play to Hall, Hall with it shot at
high and wide of the goal. It goes all the
way back down to the Badgers zone and Murphy's got
to go back to pick it up for Wisconsin. Here's
Murphy controlling it, skating through center rise to the blue
line on the far side, Aiden with it, Aiden cantrolling
(01:43:00):
the puck moving it in shot weird, Why yeah? And
it's going to be played along the boards and it's
driven all the way back down in the zone of Wisconsin,
and we'll have an icing call. Brown got the goal.
The assist goes to uh There's two assists on the goal.
(01:43:20):
One goes to Brien and the other one goes to
Yeah to uh Sagovich. Veren gets one assist and uh
Saja bitch gets her second of the game and fifth
of the year and a three to two score.
Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
Let's get one back here, huh.
Speaker 4 (01:43:42):
Paul Yep played back down in the corner over to
try and control it. We're down out of one twenty
two remaining in the second period. Badgers with a slim
lead here of three to two now and controlling it.
Plays along the boards on the near side, down deepen
the zone in the corner. Wisconsin trying to set it
(01:44:06):
up in the attacking zone here, Venusio at the point
off on the play to Waznevitch back over the Venusio
her pass toward the slats broken up, and Wisconsin in
the neutral zone. Harvey tried to skate it down and
Will Harvey controlling it coming up. Ice moves it out
of the zone and Harvey with the play at center
(01:44:29):
Ice on the lead. Wisconsin regrouping. They'll come to Venusio
quickly ahead on the play that intended at the blue
line of Wisconsin for Pocard and the Tommies break that
up and they fire it off the glass near side.
Buck slides down in the corner and Harvey there trying
to backhand it along the near wall, centered but cleared
(01:44:52):
in front of the net. Here's Edwards giving off ice.
Edwards comes in over the line with O'Brien off over
to Harvey, shot by O'Brien, three bound shot by O'Brien.
O'Brien back to the point on the plate of a
new CEO with a shot that went wide. Edwards tried
to tip that one down back deep in his own
There's the end of the second period, Greeney, your thoughts
(01:45:16):
on a three to two Badger.
Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
Lead, Well, I tell you I hated to see us
yield the goal shortly after killing off two respective penalty
kills there for us and the end result here, we
got a tight game in our hands, twenty minutes to
go with a three to two score.

Speaker 8 (01:47:44):
Welcome back to lebon Arena everyone. After two periods, it's
still a one goal game. It's Wisconsin three Saint Thomas two.
After a very exciting second period, the Badgers took a
tripping penalty against Katie Kutlowski at two fifty nine in
the second period. They killed off that penalty successfully, but
just twenty second after the kill had ended, it was
a score for Saint Thomas. They got their first of
the game, fired in by Madison Brown. She got the
(01:48:07):
assists from Parker as well as excuse me number seven
Sadjevic and Saint Thomas tied it up. Wisconsin, though then
went on a tear two goals in two minutes, the
first one coming from Cassie Hall with assists from Layla
Edwards and Kelly Gorbtenko at six forty two, and then
from Layla Edwards with an assist from Casey O'Brien as
(01:48:28):
well as Ava Murphy. Casey O'Brien. That makes her one
hundred and thirty ninth assist of her career. She now
leads the Badgers all time for women's hockey players in
total assists, an outstanding achievement for Casey O'Brien. The captain.
Saint Thomas, however, not done. The Badgers took a roughing
penalty at fifteen twenty two that going against Ava Murphy.
That penalty again was killed off, but again twenty seconds
(01:48:51):
after the end of the kill another goal, again from
Madison Brown, assisted by Sajovic, and this time the second
assist went to Chloe Breen. So St Thomas, despite to
my eye, being outplayed in this game, nonetheless has hung
in there. The Badgers have had chance after chance after chance,
but they have only gotten three of them to fall
Saint Thomas. Although neither of their goal were technically power
(01:49:14):
play goals, both of them came just twenty seconds after
the expiration of a penalty. They've been able to capitalize
on those special teams opportunities and so they are only
one goal down as we get ready to enter the
third period. Over the weekend, I was able to speak
with Badger Starr from the early twenty ten's Britney Averman.
She's now a physician out in New York City. It
was great to talk with her. We've got that interview
for you now, and then we'll be back with the
(01:49:34):
intermission show. Stay tuned to AM ten seventy The Game.
Welcome back to the Intermission Show. We're joined now by
former Badger hockey star and current Surgical Resident of Orthopedics
Starctor Britney Ammerman. Thanks so much for joining us.
Speaker 28 (01:49:45):
Yeah, thank you so much for having me.
Speaker 8 (01:49:46):
You had an incredible career when you were at Wisconsin.
You won an NCAA championship in twenty eleven, and despite injury,
you finish your time as a Badger tenth all time
on goals scored, twelfth in points, and fifth in games played.
When you started at UW. Did you have a sense
that you'd have that level of success.
Speaker 29 (01:50:01):
I think we all hope that we would have some
levels to success like that when you go off to
college and you get an opportunity to play a place
like University of Wisconsin. But that being said, you know,
when you go to a place like Madison, you're playing
against you know, the best not in the country, but
like the best in the world. And so to be
able to have that impact why I was there and
really I feel like over my time there get better
(01:50:24):
each year significantly and really take leaps and be able
to contribute in the way I did.
Speaker 28 (01:50:28):
I think that was really exciting for me and something
that I always dreamt of doing.
Speaker 29 (01:50:32):
But it took a lot of hard work and effort,
you know, each off season and progressing each season with
both of pazards on the national team to be able
to do that and finish my career and put a
significant way well.
Speaker 8 (01:50:44):
And amongst all the accolades that you did earn during
your time here, one that stands out is the Hockey
Humanitarian Award you want in twenty fifteen for your work
in Kenya helping to create the NCOM book Women's Soccer League.
You're the only Beder women's hockey player to ever win
that award. Can you tell us how you got involved
with that soccer league and Kenya more generally?
Speaker 28 (01:51:01):
Yeah, I'll try to make a long story short.
Speaker 29 (01:51:05):
But when I when I was at Wisconsin, I pretty
much knew when I started my undergrad education that I
was going to go to medical school, and at that
time I had a really big interest in women's health. Interestingly,
it's funny to look back now. I thought I was
gonna end up being like a ob gyne specialist, but
(01:51:25):
I had injureds in women's health. For my major was
Women's studies, Gender and women's Studies at Wisconsin, and my
minor was Global health.
Speaker 28 (01:51:32):
And part of the global health miner was.
Speaker 29 (01:51:35):
Doing some sort of community outreach and you could do
that either within the United States or over brought overseas.
And so I had just always had this urge to
always help and give back, keeping me underserved communities. And
for whatever reason, I wanted to go to a place
like Kenya, and the Women's Studies department had a trip
(01:51:55):
that was like perfect for me. It was women's health
outreach in rural Kenya and about twelve students go every
year with Rseli Alonso and it's Health by Motorbrinces was
the group, and so I applied usually to kind of
get weight listed, and for whatever reason, I was able
to get in that summer going into my junior season,
and doctor or sorry, Mark Johnson was like, you know,
(01:52:18):
you can.
Speaker 28 (01:52:18):
Go for the strip for six weeks, but my only
like rule for you.
Speaker 29 (01:52:22):
Is that you come back in shape to play for
the season. And so when I went over to do
this outreach, which was essentially just me outreaching the bushes
of Kenya, it took like forty eight hours to get there.
We went, we caught all these women, you know, just
like very basics of health, how to deliver a baby,
how to take care of communical goal diseases, non communical diseases,
(01:52:43):
you know. Domestic violence was part of our education too,
like how to protect yourself. And while I was over there,
I like started off was like one hundred and twenty
degrees and I was trying to like jump rope and
like T ninety X and yeah, and it just like
wasn't going well. And I was mortified that I was
going to come back and not be able to play
and lose my scholarship and whatnot. And so what I
(01:53:05):
did was I bought a soccer ball, and I thought,
when we were doing some of these clinics, the kids
that were with these women that we were teaching would
want to play. And what actually ended up happening was
the women themselves, who are thirty to fifty years old,
took the soccer ball from the kids and played each night,
and I was running around with them and that was
my exercise and anything anything else would come a bit
other than like I was going to be in somewhat
(01:53:26):
form of shape and be able to catch up when
I got back.
Speaker 28 (01:53:29):
But what happened was that the last.
Speaker 29 (01:53:31):
Day of our trip, we always asked them, you know,
when the group comes back next year, what do you
want to educate you on? How can we help you,
how can we make your community better? And for perspectives
the year that I started, as I went, they asked
for helpless combating domestic abuse at home, and so we
were thinking something of that magnitude, and then they said,
you know what we would like is a soccer league.
(01:53:51):
Brittainy taught us how to play soccer. Women across the
world are playing soccer in an organized fashion. The men
don't play organize soccer here, and we want to do that.
That's kind of how it started was I had two
villages out of the seven at the time that we
were educating.
Speaker 28 (01:54:04):
Who were really interested in it.
Speaker 29 (01:54:05):
I was when I went into my junior season. I
raised money like five thousand dollars, sent them like T
shirts and balls. Thought they played once and never think
about it again. They played, a thousand people came and
watched them, and remaining seven, you know, five villages wanted
to play. And so at that point I was like, well,
I need to make this the nonprofit and get some help,
(01:54:26):
and they kind of took off from there and I've
made video of like footage of the game and then
sent it to you know, the ninety nine ers were
like my idols growing up from the women's soccer team,
and sent themce like Mia Ham, Julie Saudi like that
group of people, and Julie s Foudy herself responded personally
within forty eight hours and helped us raise fifty thousand
(01:54:47):
dollars in that first year. We funded the seven teams
and now we've gotten the US Embassy has given us
grants over the past five years, we've published data that
what we're doing is you know, good for gender based
by and cohesion within the community, and then also just
from a mental, physical, emotional standpoint, it makes the women healthier.
(01:55:08):
And we now have twenty four teams that are playing
and we have four leagues within the whole country of Kenya,
so it's done, you know, kind of crazy.
Speaker 8 (01:55:16):
That's an incredible story. I mentioned at the top that
you had dealt with injuries during your career and you've
now made it your professional business to care for others
when they are injured, pursuing residency training as an orthopedic surgeon.
Was your sports background part of what drove the orthopedics
You said that obe guin was potentially what you were
interested in or was there another impetus for matching into
that specialty.
Speaker 29 (01:55:36):
Yeah, yeah, I think you know, like I said, I
just really had an interest in women's health and so.
Speaker 28 (01:55:43):
I wanted to treat women specifically.
Speaker 29 (01:55:47):
Was kind of what I was thinking, and had done
all this outreach with women and hadn't yet seen that
I could kind of combine the two of like my
sports background and my interest in women's health. And then
when I graduated from Wisconsin, I took a year off
and worked, and then I got my master's in biomedical sciences,
and then I got a really great position at the
(01:56:07):
Women's Sports Medicine Center at Hospital for Special Surgeries for
research assistance. And it was in that year as I
was applying a medical school that I realized I could combine,
you know, my interest in athletics and my injury background
and help female athletes to get injured to get back
to the spot that they loved. And so when I
was kind of right before med school, was toying with
(01:56:27):
doing non offer of sports medicine or orthopedic sports medicine
and operating, and then when I got to medical school,
I really loved orthopedics and the muster celical system and
being able to operate and get people back to to,
you know, activities they love and really work with female
athletes is my goal at the end of my career
and my end of my training.
Speaker 28 (01:56:49):
So that's kind of how it involved evolved for this.
And I think naturally, if you're a former athlete.
Speaker 29 (01:56:54):
As socially high level and you go to medical school,
everyone thinks, you know, ortheedics makes sense to you.
Speaker 28 (01:56:59):
You work on a team and you're in the operating room,
but also like you're working with athletes and.
Speaker 29 (01:57:02):
You can really relate to them on a level that's
like an emotional level, not just about whatever you.
Speaker 28 (01:57:08):
Know injury they have.
Speaker 8 (01:57:09):
That makes a lot of sense. I'll close with this,
The Badger's taking on Saint Thomas this weekend. They were
a D three school when you played, so you never
had a chance to take the rink against them. But
instead of specifics about past contests, what's something you'd like
to share with the current players that you learned during
your time with the team you think might be valuable
for someone to know who's wearing the cardinal in white today.
Speaker 29 (01:57:27):
I think just overall, you know, like you can get
really stuck on the sport itself and playing you know
I hockey, But I think like the best thing about
being a Badger is the support system you have there
and the university itself, and you can really use athletics
to drive whatever you're going to do in the future.
Speaker 28 (01:57:47):
I think, you know, I'm incredibly jealous that the women
that are playing right now have an opportunity to go
to the PWHL.
Speaker 29 (01:57:52):
I always wish I was like seven years younger go
do that. But I do think the power of sport
can trans and all parts of life. And so even
when your time is done playing as a Badger, you know,
there's so many things that you can do with your
career or giving back to the community that really comes
from all the characteristics and the attribute you've gained being
(01:58:14):
a Badger. And I just think, you know, between Mark
and Dan and Jackie, the culture there is just so
great to you know, coming out of being a badger
woman's hockey player and being like just a great person
overall into being able to tap back into that network
and using whatever you've learned from being on that scene.
Speaker 28 (01:58:35):
And part of that culture and bring it to whatever
you go into in your career, your life and whatever
you give back to you. I think that's most important.
Speaker 8 (01:58:42):
That's a great sentiment. Doctor Britney and women Badger hockey
star and orthopedic president at the Hospital for Special Surgery
in New York City, Thanks so much for being with us.
Speaker 28 (01:58:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 21 (01:58:50):

Speaker 12 (01:59:52):
Wow Wow.
Speaker 11 (01:59:53):
It features a one care created diamond centerstone.
Speaker 19 (01:59:56):
Completely surrounded by a halo of little created die that
makes it look cuge, and each.
Speaker 12 (02:00:02):
Of those three bands is covered in diamonds.
Speaker 11 (02:00:04):
I've never seen anything like it. Two carrots total. Way,
there's no way this is less than five thousand dollars. No,
we're selling these for half that much.
Speaker 12 (02:00:13):
Twenty four ninety eight. I need to lie down and
put a cool rag on my forehead.
Speaker 20 (02:00:17):
And you can choose a one carrot round oval or
radiant diamond as your centerstone.
Speaker 11 (02:00:22):
Kessler's is the coolest store in the world. But there's more.
Look at this, it's a matching pendant. Take that rag
off your head and get out, Rick. You have to

Speaker 12 (02:00:32):

one third carrot's total way.

This tag says it's just nineteen hundred and ninety eight dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:00:48):
This is ten to seventy the gay.
Speaker 24 (02:00:53):
Or.
Speaker 4 (02:00:55):
We're back at lebon Arena, getting running for the third
period to get underway. Here the lated by a score
of three to two. Edward's out for the Badgers along
with O'Brien and Simms, and it's going to be played
back down in behind McNaught who turned and whipped it
around over to Edwards on the break. O'Brien trying to
go right side over the Sims. It sent our eyes.
(02:01:17):
It's going to be turned there and the Tommy's play
it in over the line of Wisconsin Brown, who's got
two goals for the Tommy's in this game. He threw
it in on McNaught and who made the gloves save
to stop the action. Your thoughts, Greeny on what the
strategy was for the third period.
Speaker 3 (02:01:35):
Well, continue to get pucks of the net. She has
giving us rebounds. But we've got to manage to pucket
our blue line too. We can't be turning it over
on our way up the ice.
Speaker 4 (02:01:45):
Face off coming up to the left side of McNaughton
and the Badgers trying to get possession of the puck
coming in over the line Gore, but Tanko pulls the
drigger and just missed the corner of the net. But
that goes all the way back in the Badgers zone. Mcnottin,
you'll cut it off and fire it off the glass.
Gorbatanco will turn and try to come out of the
(02:02:06):
zone to center ice back hands it in over the
line to hal Hal giving it off in the pass
backhander by Eden, Gorbatanco along the board, flips it or
out of the right side. It comes over the Hall
who shot it wide, and it's Potter at the point
trying to hold the zone at center Ice. The Tommies
look to pick it up and they'll work it in
(02:02:28):
over the Badger line and it's cleared from in front
of the net and the moving it up Ice controlling it.
Wisconsin comes out of their own zone. This is Murphy
where the buck comes in into the line. Murphy stick
Hanley will it pulls up in the corner, plays it off.
They got Eden in front of the net, can't get
her the play and the puck is going to be
dumped all the way back to the Badger blueline brink whine.
(02:02:51):
It comes to Harvey on the lead to Hall haul
angles it down in the corner. It comes to Eden
Eiden with it, will work the wing on the near side.
Badger's turn. Try to control it, but it's going to
be turned away by Lyndy and they'll dump it back
down in behind the Wisconsin net. Badgers turn Harvey with it,
(02:03:13):
Rvy along the wall down to the corner far side.
It comes around over and Venusio with it. There's Venusio
sliding it towards center. Ice comes in over the line
of the Tommies working at Picard with a shot off
the glass. RV at the point holds the zone, comes
to Venusio, she pulls up and angles it in behind
(02:03:35):
the net. The play comes back to the point on
the near side, Wisconsin's Venusio off on the wing. Badger's
with a one goal lead, and there's a drive by Venusio.
Speaker 3 (02:03:46):
She got all of that one fired it why to
the net. Play is going to be stopped. Yeah, she
had a lot of mustard on that. She'd beat the
goaltender had she hit the net. I don't think nobody's
going to catch up with a shot that hard.
Speaker 4 (02:03:58):
So we'll have the face off coming up back the
Wisconsin Badgers with a three to two lead. They lead
in shots thirty three to eighteen here in the third period,
and the face off will come up to the right
side of the goaltender Dana Strum back to the point
of the play. It's jungles around over to Edwards shot
(02:04:20):
right on.
Speaker 3 (02:04:21):
I'll take that though. Yeah, she's got a hard shot,
and she had a couple of line meets right right
on the doorstep there if there would have been a rebound.
Speaker 4 (02:04:29):
Edwards got her fourteenth goal to the year. In the
second period. Hall got her eleventh of the year and
O'Brien got her ninth to the year the goal scoring four.
Wisconsin face off to the right side of Strum Edwards
with it will play it deep in the zone. O'Brien
and Simms there and the Murphy tried to hold the
(02:04:51):
zone of the Badgers go back with Edwards at center eyes.
Edwards will carry it in over the Tommy Blue line
comes in off the wing moving a try go backside
shot by Jungles, play in front of the net. O'Brien
gloved it, played it to the ice around over the
jungles and it's played by Sims back and behind over
to Edwards. It comes to O'Brien O'Brien controlling the puck
(02:05:15):
rink one in the pass over the jungles back out
on top. There's a shot by Murphy watt of the
goal and it's played in the corner on the near side.
Wisconsin trying to maintain possession of the puck, but it's
brown to playing of ahead two senturas. The Tommys carry
it in over the line and it's going to be
driven in on McNaughton, who covered up and made the same.
Speaker 3 (02:05:38):
Yeah, I'm glad there was no rebound there because we
had a couple of Tommy's head into the net if
there would have been one.
Speaker 4 (02:05:44):
In the third period. The Badgers in terms of goals,
they have scored twenty seven in the third period and
allowed only three coming into this game, eighty seven goals
for Wisconsin and they've below to fifteen one in the
first period here, now two in the game so far,
(02:06:06):
and they've scored ninety on the year. Wisconsin back down
in behind the net, trying to control the play and
whistle and action's going to be stopped. And do we
have our first penalty called against the Tommys.
Speaker 19 (02:06:20):
We do.
Speaker 3 (02:06:21):
Yeah, We're going to go on to power play here.
Speaker 4 (02:06:25):
That comes at three point thirty three the time of
the penalty here in the third period, and Wisconsin will
get the power play advantage. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:06:35):
Lacey Eden was working hard to get possession of the
puck and in the course of doing so, she drew
that penalty. So nice effort by Lacy Eden.
Speaker 4 (02:06:42):
Paul goes to the penalty box for Saint Thomas and
the face off coming up to the right side, barks
against O'Brien. The draw to Harvey Harvey with it sliding
across ice on the play and Wisconsin's Eden with it
back over to Harvey moving it in shot. No, yeah,
(02:07:02):
Harvey gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badger gets your
eight coll of the air and one hundredth point as
the defenseman for the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (02:07:15):
Oh did we need that one, Paul? That next call
was going to be a huge one, and I'm glad
we got it because she she eyeballed that one. She
got the pass and froze the goaltender for a second
and ripped the hard wrister right in the upper net.
Beautiful goal by Carolyn Harvey.
Speaker 4 (02:07:31):
Hervy now the fifth Badger defenseman to score one hundred points.
Speaker 3 (02:07:36):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (02:07:38):
And she's only a junior based off coming up and
it's going to be controlled. And with it is Potter
on the lead. And now the Badger's got a little
two goal cushion here against the Tommies who have gained
some respect the way they played hockey.
Speaker 3 (02:07:54):
Here, you're not kidding, Paul.
Speaker 4 (02:07:57):
And the movie get up ice and and right at
center ice trying to play it ahead was Nevitch back
over to try and control. Was Nevich coming out of
the Badger's zone, controlling it, works it in over the
blue line was Nevitch in the corner on the left side,
played it behind the net and the puck is loose,
coming over to try and pick it up. Badger's with
(02:08:19):
it back to the point on the play over the potter.
Potter with it on the wing. It comes to per
card and her shot tipped by was Nevitch. Was Nevitch
picked it up, goes in the corner to end right
and right back on top over the potter. Potter's drive
is blocked and play along the boards on the near side.
(02:08:40):
Wisconsin trying to hold the zone and there was a
big hit on Pottery.
Speaker 3 (02:08:45):
I'm surprised I didn't call that, but it was thrown.
Speaker 4 (02:08:48):
By Green and took Potter completely down on the ice.
Badgers pick it up. They come in over the line,
controlling it, pulling it up down in the corner, eating
with it, trying to control it. There was gorbatankle comes
around over to Harvey, Harvey moving it in, tried to
center it, played down of the corner on the nearer
side and it's held in by Harvey. Harvey with a
(02:09:11):
puck down on the corner back door and gorbatangle with
a drive right on and the save is made. This
is Wisconsin Badger Hockey.
Speaker 3 (02:09:21):

kelmfor stimulating talk about hunting, fishing, conservation and more with
expert guests on Outdoors Radio every Saturday morning at seven
on AM ten seventy.
Speaker 4 (02:10:12):
The game and Edwards trying to skate it down. We
have fourteen eleven remaining in the third period, Banters with
a two goal lead, thirty seven to nineteen in shots,
moving it in, shot kicked out by McNaughton, a rebound
shot cover up in the save is made.
Speaker 3 (02:10:31):
Yeah, a nice pair of saves there by Ava. When
we needed it. They came up the ice quickly there
the Tommies did, and got two shots on goal right away.
Let's see the face off going to be taken by Picard.
I think, see if she wins this one just to
the right of Ava in our defensive zone, and she
(02:10:56):
wins a.
Speaker 4 (02:10:57):
Draw, writing down the system last goal there, setting get
up thirteen fifty three, reminting in the period, Wisconsin comes
up to center Ice in over the line and controlling it.
It's going to be played right out in front. Badgers
with a lead of four to two. They won six
to one in game one yes last night, and Wisconsin,
(02:11:20):
we'll work it out of their own zone and they'll
come up Ice on the break, puck loose and with
it is Murphy, Murphy around on the play. Wisconsin Venusio
off over to Potter. Potter worked it in over the
line on the near side. Potter with a play along
the board. She's tied up. She tries to go in
the corner.
Speaker 3 (02:11:41):
Somehow maintains possession and a backhead went through the crease
and wide to the corner on the near side.
Speaker 4 (02:11:48):
Both teams here at full strength. Badger's with a two
goal leads and a little scrum in the corner trying
to clear it. Helberson is out along with McCarthy and Vassar.
At the point, Dan control to get his Murphy Wisconsin
looking to set it up back out on top. There's
a shot by Murphy wide RV over to pick it up.
(02:12:10):
Rvy in the corner on the right side. Harvey off
on the wing on the play well, Wisconsin back over
controlling it, moving it in shot and that was taken
by Vassar and the gloves save is made.
Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
Yeah, like to see that shot on net. Good job
by Bassard.
Speaker 4 (02:12:30):
Twelve. The cist of the year for Eden and getting
her second assist of the night was O'Brien and her
twenty fifth of the year.
Speaker 3 (02:12:41):
Oh'brian sure finds a way to be in every play,
doesn't she?
Speaker 4 (02:12:44):
She sure does. And Wisconsin back in behind the net
and the wrap around on the near side. Idea coming
over to try and pick it up and play to center.
Ice and Gorbatanko with it. Gorbatanco, Hall go in over
the line, Gorbatanco moving it in. Borbatanco centered it right
(02:13:05):
out in front, comes to the wing and the Venusio
with it. Venusio is tied up in the corner. Badgers
maintain possession of the punk. Here's Hall with it all
off on the play over the Harvey one on one.
Harvey lost control of it and they'll drive it up
the near wing. We have eleven fifty six remaining in
the period. Badgers getting the lone goal here in the
(02:13:29):
third period, making it four to two, and Wisconsin we'll
carry it in over the line. Venusio was tipped away
as they tried to hit Eden, and the Tommy's with
it back in their own zone, banking around the boards,
coming over to try and pick it up, and they'll
play it back down in the right wing corner of
the Badger's zone. Whistle and we'll have a nicing call.
Speaker 3 (02:13:53):
You know, Paul, I got this feel that we still
got a lot of game left, you know, yeah, yeah,
I don't know what it is. It's not a back
of confidence, but we're getting a good contest out of
the Tommies today.
Speaker 4 (02:14:03):
That's that's for sure. You know, fans aren't getting cheated today.
Nice crowd here at Lebon Arena. Sure is face off
coming up to the right side, and the Tommies will
bank it off the boards and chasing it as Jungles,
Jungles beating Jurgensen to the play Wisconsin out of their
(02:14:25):
own zone. We'll head Matt it up the boards on
the near side trying to skate it down as Edwards
along with Sims and Edwards and Sims worked the corner
trying to get the puck free and they do. Sims
back on the play has it at the point little
given go to O'Brien, back over to Edwards. Edwards was
tied up, couldn't turn and get the drive off with
(02:14:47):
it as Sims out on top. Sims looking for the
outlet on the pass and it's given goal from O'Brien
to Sims, back to O'Brien on top, over to Murphy,
comes around over the jungles just inside the little line.
Worked the wing on the near side with it as
Sims off over to Edwards and drive. Edwards picked up
the rebound and controls it. Tried to play it between
(02:15:10):
the dots. Badgers hold it in with jungles, jungles behind
the at around over to Edwards, back over to Sims.
Sims passed toward the net, is broken up and it
comes all the way back to the blue line of
the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
Well, we got a horse race here, trying to.
Speaker 4 (02:15:25):
Chase it down there on the horse race, as Berger
tried to beat one of the Badgers to the buck.
Speaker 3 (02:15:30):
Man her and Jungles were racing like crazy to get
there and fortunately Eva was able to grab it and
freeze the puck for a face off, and.
Speaker 4 (02:15:38):
That face off will come up to the left side
of McNaughton, backing goal for the Badgers here or to
tow the score. Both of the Tommy goals scored by
Madison Brown and off the draw there was a shot
taken by Paul. Yeah, back over to pick it up
(02:16:05):
and play along the boards and coming up Ice controlling
it in over the line is Lindsey, but they lose
control of the play. Badger's back the other way. It's
was Neviage with it playing it down in behind the
net and right is out on this particular line with
Percard and was Neviage. They liked the combination of those
(02:16:29):
three and they like their efforts and the way they
play the game. Yeah, they are number three lines, so
to speak. The Badgers and play along the boards near side,
nearing nine to twenty six remaining in the third period,
and it's played down in the corner on the right
side and trying to move in. McNaught and covered it
(02:16:52):
up and made the save there.
Speaker 3 (02:16:58):
Yeah, they're taking it to the yet yep.
Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
Then we're going to have a time out here and
we'll have a face off coming up in a bit.

com to learn more. We're back at Lebonn Arena along
with Zach Seloff in Mark Greenhall. I'm Paul Brown. Where
(02:17:48):
it's four to two Badgers here Wisconsin, trying to get
the win. Here Badgers would be their fifteenth and sixteen
games season and in the WCCHA they would be eleven
and one. That would be very nice. Yeah, you get
(02:18:09):
that right, goals by the Badgers. O'Brien along with Hall,
Edwards and Harvey based Off coming up to the right
side of McNaughton back in the Wisconsin Zone with nine
seventeen remaining thirty eight to twenty two in shots. Badgers
(02:18:34):
have put up a large number of shots throughout the year,
average almost forty shots a game, almost two to one
over their opponent. Got to shoot the score, right, Paul, Yeah, Amen,
going back over to control of it, whether it's Potter,
Wisconsin gets the return pass to Potter and in over
(02:18:55):
the line comes Hall. Hall pulls up at the point
it's lost control of the puck. Here goes Brown coming
in looking for the hat trick. Try to put a
move on it. Turn shot block by McNaughton. Brown gave
it up. Yeah, but McNaughton turned away the rebound shot.
Speaker 3 (02:19:17):
Yeah, that turnover could have been expensive there, Paul. Yeah,
he basically had a two on one.
Speaker 4 (02:19:22):
Eva came up big eight forty one remaining in the
third period. Look up at the wall and you see
NCAA championships in two thousand and six, seven, nine eleven, nineteen,
twenty one, twenty three. Yeah, seven titles. That's the most
(02:19:44):
in women's college hockey. Moving it in, shot cleared from
in front of the net. Wisconsin try to get it
out of their own zone. Here we gave it up. Ice.
Here comes Sims and over the line back shotting the
gold and O'Brien gets her second goal of the game
(02:20:06):
of the aar and Wisconsin legs it five to two.
That was the beauty.
Speaker 3 (02:20:12):
Yeah, that was gorgeous. The passing back and forth between
Sims and O'Brien, it was something like you read about.
It was just gorgeous to watch him play very unselfish
on the half of both those players and ends up
in the net off O'Brien stick. It's a great play.
Speaker 4 (02:20:28):
Second assist to the game, and the fifteenth of the
year for Sims.
Speaker 3 (02:20:34):
Boy, that was pretty, wasn't it. Yeah, that one was
that goalie didn't have a chance on that one, beautiful play.
Speaker 4 (02:20:43):
Four points for O'Brien game, a couple of goals and
a couple of assists.
Speaker 3 (02:20:47):
Yeah, and she's won a ton of face offs too. Yeah,
you know, Paul, she can even kill penalties too. You
don't hear about that, you know, But she's good at
that as well.
Speaker 4 (02:20:56):
Harvey comes in over the line and off on the
play with it was Nevitch with a drive banked around
the boards, over the try and pick it up and
controlling it and comes back into the line. The Tommy's
with a shot that was steered away Wisconsin's was Nevitch
slides it out in the brake it was held in
(02:21:17):
and a Burger with it there or Parker, pardon me
back over the Jungles, Jungles behind the net, around on
the wing, over the Harvey Rve controlling it comes up
ice on the near side over the Jungles. Jungles comes
in over the line. Off on the play over the Wasnavitch.
The card was tied up as she tried to work
(02:21:37):
the backside wing and coming up ice the Tommy's come
to the blue line of Wisconsin. You'll play it back
down in the corner. Sadjavic with it played it around
on the far side, and Wisconsin trying to take it
out of the Tommy zone and both teams at full
strength seven sixteen remaining in the period. In behind that
(02:22:01):
and controlling it. Badgers look to try and pick it
up and coming around on the play been behind that,
it's Potter with it, Potter angles is it off the boards?
Alverson is there trying to pick that up to get
it out of the zone. And Wisconsin back in their
own zone. Here the Tommy's with two on the fore chat.
Speaker 3 (02:22:25):
Yeah, they're pressuring.
Speaker 4 (02:22:26):
Yeah, and the Badgers work it out of the zone
and on the lead, coming up ice and over the
line and controlling it that play, McCarthy is out on
the line with Halberson and flipped up over the boards
and out of play there.
Speaker 3 (02:22:45):
You know, Murphy's been playing well out Yeah. You know,
she looks she's healthier. Earlier in the year she was
plagued by, you know, some illnesses a little bit. I
think her where that beautiful they've just showed it on
the replay of that O'Brien goal, sims back and forth, beautiful, beautiful.
Speaker 4 (02:23:05):
Caroline Harvey also got an assist on that goal, and
it's played back down in the corner. So we've got
a five to two lead here, and play continues along
the boards on the near side with six twenty Remedican
period and trying to move it up ice. It will
be driven back down in the corner in behind six
(02:23:27):
thirteen Remedican period and the Tommies go over to pick
it up and control it back to the point on
the near side. Badger's trying to work it out of
the zone and play at the blue line of Wisconsin
Gorbatanko tried to pick it up Harvey over skate of
the park, moving it in. There's a shot to save
now not it comes around over to Eden and whistle
(02:23:51):
and play had been stopped.
Speaker 3 (02:23:52):
Yeah, the heck of a save there. They walked it
right into the goldmalth almost amen. Aba came up.
Speaker 4 (02:24:00):
Thirty nine shots on goal for the Badgers, twenty five
for the Tommies. Badger's here at Lebonn Arena, very very
effective over the years. Five minutes forty nine seconds from
Manning in the period and Wisconsin controlling it back down
(02:24:20):
in the corner with it as Murphy. Murphy with it
and the Badgers will bring it out on the lead
over to Edwards. Edwards tipped it back down in the
corner and O'Brien back there, played it behind the net
and Wisconsin trying to hold his zone. Edwards is out
and a movie it up ice control to get to
(02:24:42):
Tommy's Edwards trying to for check. O'Brien took it away
back on the lead, tried to pass it through on traffic.
Zellish is out on this particular shift. You're getting an
opportunity to play. She's out of Appleton Wisconsin played at
Pumigia I think for a couple years yep. And so
they're giving them an opportunity between Vassar and Zelich, played
(02:25:07):
just inside the line and it's going to come all
the way back. We're under five minutes remaining here in
the third period. Played around the boards on the far
side and around over to try and control it. There
is Zelish and they'll slide it back down to the
south zone.
Speaker 3 (02:25:23):
Smart play, get it up and out of the zone,
make a change.
Speaker 4 (02:25:26):
And it's going to be played in on McNaughton, who
will cover up and she'll make the save. There. The
last eight years at Lebon Arena, the Wisconsin Badgers coming
into this game one hundred and twenty seven wins, eleven
losses in six ties overall at Lebon over the years
since it's been built, they won one hundred and eighty
(02:25:49):
three lost twenty one and eleven games have ended in
a time.
Speaker 3 (02:25:54):
It's been a great rink.
Speaker 4 (02:25:55):
Oh my goodness. And is the official attendance Here is
a few empty seats now, I've been a few people leaving.
Possibly they recination in sellouts the last nine out of
the last eleven years. Nice place to play beautiful ring.
(02:26:18):
Yes it is.
Speaker 3 (02:26:19):
We're very fortunate to have Lebonerina.
Speaker 4 (02:26:23):
Face off coming up to the left side, back in
the Badger zone. Four thirty three, remitting in the period
and going back as jungles over to pick it up
around on the far side, turning Wisconsin, sliding it out,
Gorbatankos straddling the blue line trying to hold it there,
Gold knits with it, tired it around on the wing
(02:26:44):
and the Tommies look to try and clear it. Here's
Eden holding it in Eden on the far circle, wrist
shot man locked, comes around over to Murphy. Murphy down
in the corner, skates in behind the net, shuffled around
over the hall haul in the corner on the air side,
plays it around over to Gorbatanco, who's cut off behind
the net by Carl and Murphy with it controls it
(02:27:06):
around over to Gorbatanco. The intensity's not the same now anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:27:11):
For the Saint Tommy's it isn't it?
Speaker 19 (02:27:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:27:14):
Three forty seven remaining. Badgers lead it by five to two,
and it's down back in behind the net, round over
to try and control it and pick it up, and
the puck is going to be played back down in
the corner and the Tommies go back with Carl. Carl
often to play on the wing as they try to
come up ice with Housie at center ice. It's played
(02:27:37):
to the blue line of the Badgers and the wing
tipped away there and Wisconsin's was Nevige trying to control it.
Whistle and play stopped at the blue line of the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (02:27:48):
You know, Eden, she just got off a little bit ago,
but boy, what an aggressive ford checking and just working
hard every shift that she sure makes a lot of
good situations and opportunities happen.
Speaker 4 (02:27:58):
Ac O'Brien o their ninth and tenth goals of the
year here in this game. Cassie Hall has got her
eleventh goal of the season. Edwards got her fourteenth goal
of the year. Harvey got her eighth goal of the year.
That's the five up on the board for the Badger.
(02:28:19):
Are we going to get another one? Paul?
Speaker 3 (02:28:21):
In less than three minutes to go?
Speaker 4 (02:28:23):
Are you greedy?
Speaker 19 (02:28:23):
Or what?
Speaker 8 (02:28:24):
I know?
Speaker 17 (02:28:25):
I know it?
Speaker 4 (02:28:26):
And what's wrong with that? Huh?
Speaker 3 (02:28:28):
Right?
Speaker 4 (02:28:30):
Be nice if one of the people that haven't scored, yeah,
would score. There's an offside on the Badger that being
Kadlowski or Venusio.
Speaker 12 (02:28:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:28:38):
My theory is she got sixty minutes. Let's work with
all of it, right, Yeah, Yeah, that would be something
to see one of those gals put one in the net.
Speaker 4 (02:28:48):
From all of us involved with the broadcast to you
and your family, Hope you have a great Thanksgiving holiday.
Don't eat too much.
Speaker 3 (02:28:56):
Turkey in any of you, dear heading. Remember I like medicine.
Speaker 4 (02:29:00):
Yeah, so you're begging for a deer. Yeah, around in behind,
going over to pick it up and controlling the puck.
Coming on the wing on the near side. That's McCarthy
who pulled up. She drove it towards the nat trying
to tip it out front. McCarthy gets it back a
little given go on the near side controlling it. Alverson
(02:29:21):
with it. Halverson just inside the line around the far boards,
Wisconsin in control of the puck and they'll leave it.
Coming around here comes Harvey. Harvey with it, circles the rink,
goes all the way back to where she just came
from and controlling it. It's McCarthy and McCarthy tried Halverson
in front, sliding it through the crease, almost tipped it
(02:29:44):
in there. One fifty four remedting in the period Badgers.
Harvey holds the zone, Halverson over to pick it up,
jungles with it, and they turn and slap it off
the boards and it goes all the way back in
the Badger's zone.
Speaker 3 (02:30:00):
Yeah, we got an icy. Well, what do you think
Paul Buck thirty nine or one thirty nine left here?
Speaker 4 (02:30:10):
I think it's safe to say the Badgers are going
to be uh nineteen and one on the year.
Speaker 3 (02:30:15):
They might put one in the books. You never know,
you bet.
Speaker 4 (02:30:18):
Eleven and one in the WHA That eleven gives them
thirty three points, righty wow, isn't that something?
Speaker 3 (02:30:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:30:26):
Yeah, that is. And Ohio State got beat by man
Cato State. Yep. Plus they have two games in hand.
Over the Badgers back in behind the net around over
to set it up again. They got Zilla shot on
the eye and the movie into here's Potter or Potter
trying to go to the backhand or Buck loosing the slot,
and it's going to be cleared by Saint Thomas one
(02:30:49):
a minute, twenty seconds remaining, goes O'Brien on the play
over the Edwards. Edwards skates through center ice comes in
over the line. Rish shot. She fired that one.
Speaker 3 (02:31:01):
Yeah, a lot out of it, but she got to
keep it in the building at least in the first floor,
and Ice controlling it.
Speaker 4 (02:31:08):
On one minute remaining in regulation time.
Speaker 3 (02:31:12):
You know, earlier we saw defenceman make a rush that
they had and O'Brien wisely reads the play, goes back
and covers and that's why she brought it up on
the beginning of that last rush.
Speaker 4 (02:31:22):
And we're under a minute remaining here in the third period.
Wisconsin will be at Maine on next weekend, playing on
Friday and Saturday, and the Pucks. O'Brien will play it
back down deep in the corner on the far side,
under thirty seconds remaining, and whoa, and there's a check
(02:31:44):
throwing and who went down? Potter?
Speaker 3 (02:31:46):
Is that who went down?
Speaker 4 (02:31:48):
Yes, Potter, She's gone down a couple of times. Yes,
game got hit pretty good a couple of times.
Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
She's a tall drink of water too. It's not easy
to take down.
Speaker 4 (02:31:56):
And gorbatankle will skate through center Ice on the Gorbatanco
went over the line. Whoa, she went to the back end, flipped.
Speaker 3 (02:32:06):
It just why she was determined.
Speaker 4 (02:32:09):
Boy oh boy, the Wisconsin Badgers have completed the suite
over the Tommies of Saint Thomas.
Speaker 3 (02:32:18):
Well, I tell you, Paul, I'm glad we got away
with one here they came to play, meaning the Tommies.
And you know, any opponent in the WHA is a
good opponent. And hold on, Nett.
Speaker 4 (02:32:28):
We appreciate your contribution to the broadcast. We'll be back
after this time out.
Speaker 14 (02:32:32):

Speaker 30 (02:33:27):
Hey, it's Dan Patrick If you're a listener of the show,
you probably know this by now. We're a big fan
of Keeper's Heart Whiskey. Keeper's Heart the first whiskey to
offer a unique blend of Irish and American whiskeys. Nobody's
ever done it at this level. The results are incredible,
smooth enough to enjoy, neat or enough character to make
amazing cocktails. Don't take it from me, I'm just an
(02:33:49):
Irish American guy who enjoys a drinker too. The whiskey
experts agree. Crafted by one of the biggest names in
the world of whiskey, Brian Nation, Keeper's Heart is one
of the most awarded new whiskeys of the last couple
of years, winning over one hundred and fifty awards to date,
including best Irish Whiskey in the World and winning a

Speaker 8 (02:34:34):
Welcome back every one to the postgame show. The Badger's
defeats the Saint Thomas Tommy's five to two in the
second game of the series, and we're now joined by
associate head coach Dan Cook. Coach Cook, congratulations on another
victory in the WCHA. How did you feel about how
the team performed today?
Speaker 31 (02:34:49):
I thought, we you know, obviously getting a goal quick
early helped us relax.
Speaker 8 (02:34:54):
But then I thought, you know, kind of the middle
seconds after the penalty expired, how the transition period as
you're moving from penalty kill back to five on five.
Speaker 31 (02:35:02):
Yeah, you know, it's something that we talk about that,
you know, we just killed it, so we want to
keep that momentum going from us killing it, so we
have to continue to buckle down. The problem becomes, you know,
whoever's coming out in the box sometimes is playing a
different position than what they're accustomed.
Speaker 3 (02:35:20):
To, and so we have to work on, you know,
just making sure we have clear.
Speaker 31 (02:35:24):
Communication so when they come back into the defensive zone
they know where they're supposed to be.
Speaker 8 (02:35:29):
Two individual accolades. I know you focus on the team,
but nonetheless I want to call out both Casey O'Brien
getting the all time school assist record and Carolyn Harvey
getting her a hundredth points. How proud are you of
those two in their performance?
Speaker 31 (02:35:40):
Yeah, you know, you know Casey one hundred and forty assists.
Speaker 3 (02:35:44):
Now I believe she.
Speaker 4 (02:35:44):
