Speaker 1 (00:01):
And it's an honor to be filling in for UW
Athletics Hall of Famer Matt Lape from the Rady Children's
Invitational in San Diego. Chris Voster is alongside Brian Butch.
The Badgers are playing for a trophy and they're very
familiar with this time of year. They've won their last
two holiday tournaments and are trying to go for a
(00:21):
three peat by winning the third annual Rady Children's Invitational.
TCU the opponent today. The starters for both teams are
out on the floor. Nolan Winter and the Badgers ready
to take the tip against David Punch of TCU Wisconsin
in their home whites, with Wisconsin spelled out across the
front in block letters, red numbers on the front and
(00:41):
back of the jersey, under armor logo at the collar,
and the big ten logo on.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
The left shoulder.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
TCU wearing their gray alternates with frogs spelled out across
the front in white, white numbers on the front and back,
white name plates as well in a zigzag pattern up
the side of the jerseys and shorts in purple and red.
Winter to the left, Punch to the right. The tip
is off and it's knocked into the back court by Winter.
(01:08):
Tip off one by Wisconsin in both games of the
Rady Children's Invitation, and we are underway with the Badgers
working left to right as we see it, the same
direction they worked yesterday in the win against Providence. Here's
Winter baseline right inside the three point arc, guarded by Punch,
whipping the ball to his left and right, and now
he finds John Blackwell on the right wing, already seven
to shoot for Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Blackwell to the right elbow.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Knights in the lane, shots away on the left side
of the rim, and out rebound, pulled in by the
levitius of TCU. Jaden Pierre on a drive to the
left elbow, hands off Brockharding jumps dot right elbow on
a kickout to pierre left side. Le Levitchis has it
high on the right, feeds Xavier Edmunds right of the
lane and a kickout to punch up high punch, bounce
(01:52):
past Edmonds inside. He beats Rap to the hole and
TCU as the first points of the game. A really
good pass there.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
But Wisconsin is like John Blockwell trying to get to
the rim. Two of ten yesterday's game. So be aggressive,
try to get there.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Winter on the left side looking for a lidlifter for
the Badgers left of the lane. The double team comes,
Winter spins baseline and turns it over pass broken up
by Pierre, but John Blackwell steals it back and shot clock.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, it was a reset of a shot clock here,
so the players whistled it was. I don't think it
was a turnover there. It was a you know, almost turnover.
Because of that, Wisconsin gets the ball, so it goes
to twenty with a second remove.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Now it's to nineteen.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
So it should have never gone to thirty because it
was never a true turnover per se.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
So nineteen seconds on the shot clock and John Blackwell
inbounding sideline to our right. Our officials today Kip Kissinger,
Jeffrey Anderson, and Marcus Pettigrew. Blackwell with the ball at
his waist, flips it into Nick Boy top of the key,
guarded by Harding, jump pass wrap top of the key
right wing Blackwell for three in and out and Harding.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
The rebound for TCU.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Harding pushed the tempo underhand punch dribble to the free
throw line, pushed out by Winter. Now Pierre free throw
line throws an Ali oup up to Punch, who throws
it down.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
It's four to nothing TCU.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Eighteen twenty three to go in the first half, Boyd
on the right wing one arm pass rap on the
Rady Children's Invitational logo at mid court tip pass. Boyd's
got a top of the arc wrap left side three
ball on the way too strong rebound Pierre of TCU.
Pierre with the left hand dribble final sal Levi Chiss
left wing drive and he is fouled by Nick Boyd.
(03:33):
First on Boyd first team foul for the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Defensively, Wisconsin needs tighten up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
So far.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
You've seen two layups by TCU, So play a little
bit tighter offensively, Gotta get multiple sides of the floor
and noa say it a lot. But against the aggressive team,
you also will have to be aggressive in what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Harding into Edmunds left to the lane, back to Harding
a step inside the three point arc. Long two point
try is off the mark and the rebound touched last
by TCU out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
It's bad your ball and you can live with that.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
That's a mid raye jump shot by harding, You're fine.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
For nothing, TCU.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
We've played two minutes in the championship of the Rady
Children's Invitational. It's the first time Wisconsin and TCU have
ever played in basketball. Boyd on the dribble, High on
the right fines Blackwell, top of the art. Blackwell drives
Pierre in the lane. Blackwell shot is blocked, but a
foul is called on Xavier Edmonds of TCU, and Blackwell's
going to the free throw line.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
He is so good on the rejection of the ball screen,
just a little bit of a jab going the other
way and then boom, you know, creates the advantage and
then John is able to go by the defender.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Blackwell, despite a two for ten shooting day yesterday, still
put up eleven points in the game against Providence, and
his first free throw is pure.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Horsepower.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
To amplify your will power, capability to kickstart your courage.
Their standard in Bill for Tough for druckson Adventure Ready
Ford SUVs. Visit your Wisconsin Ford store today. One more
for black Blackwell as TCU gets situated defensively alongside the
lane and Blackwell knocks them both in. Blackwell is seventy
(05:15):
nine percent free throw shooter on the season, four to two.
The score TCU in front, Harding, zigzagging up the floor
with Nick Boyd shadowing him across the timeline. Now knee
high dribble, Harding screen to his right, high on the right,
pass up top to Micah Robinson off the TCU bench,
underhand dribble, Pierre top of the arc, shot from two
(05:37):
point range off the mark, but punch the offensive rebound
and lay in for TCU.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
And that's the one Nola's gotta get. But Nolan gives
one up to beIN one.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Oh, there's a fouling, Yes, a transition look for Nolan
Winter and he takes a hard fall and a dunk
attempt up against the stanchion.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Of the hoop. He was fouled by punch.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Not a dirty play, but just a hard fall for
Winter who's up.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
On his feet. Yeah, but I know you said not
a dirty play. But you can't push him in the
back like that. And Greg Guard is very vocal. We
see enough games. Greg doesn't get a lot like that,
but you can't push him in the back that I
thought that should have been one that you kind of
look at maybe a different Chris and the foul.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
It was actually on Micah Robinson of TCU. Nolan Winter
listed on the roster at two thirty five. His first
free throw rattles in, but Greg Gard insists he's playing
up around two point fifty and you know that added
muscle helping him out there in a hard fall like flow,
and he gives up the offensive rebound. But then what
(06:40):
does he do?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Sprints down and beats everybody down the floor after giving
up a mad bucket like TCU does not give up
a lot of transition opportunities. That was two points that
Wisconsin stole because just sprinting down the floor.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Two free throws made for Nolan Winter at six four
TCU with seventeen oh seven to go, first half punch
base line left, dribbles to the top of the arc.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Now Pierre on the right wing.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
The curls into the light blue lane, uses his shoulder
to generate separation, misses the mid range jumper.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
The rebound of Winter.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
In Wisconsin, blackwell up the floor far sideline, passed to
rap high on the right right wing.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
It's Boyd.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Boyd thought about a shot fake, puts the ball on
the deck, gets to the free throw line guarded by
the Levitchis kickout Rap right side. Rap drives low block right,
bounce past to a cutting John Blackwell and it's knocked
out of bounce last touch by Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
And there was some interior passing there and Rap tried to,
you know, thread the needle, but there was no reason
to try to thread the needle, if that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Kick that thing out, no reason to risk that pass.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
That's what see, that's what generates TCU's energy is creating turnovers.
That turnover that Wiscon's just have. There's no need for now.
We'll see if they can slow it down on this
defense possession. But what fuels their fire TCUs is getting turnovers.
Alexis Bilawskis has entered the game for Wisconsin. Austin Rapp
sits rock harding double team passed to le Levitchis left
(08:05):
to the circle three.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
It's a good and.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
That's what I was talking about. You have a turnover
there now of a sudden picking pop three. It's what
fuels them nine to for TCU. Badger ball Winter right
at the circle three, ball in and out on Winter
bill Awskis a big offensive rebound up top Foyd to
the free throw line. Whips a pass download of Blackwell,
He's blocked low on the right. Bilowskis still saves the possession.
(08:29):
Second chance try no in the rebound to punch and
one of those hats to drop for Nolan two. It
was wide open three, harding drive kick Lelevitis right wing three.
He got another one and it's twelve four TCU and
Wisconsin needs a time out with fifteen forty nine to
play in the first. Fast start for TCU, playing like
(08:52):
they've got nothing to lose. From the Rail Transport Broadcast booth,
fifteen forty nine to play in the first twelve TCU.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
This is badger basketball from lear Field.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds you to always drive
sober zero in Wisconsin. Together we can save lives. Learn
more at zero in Wisconsin dot gov. Fifteen forty nine
to play in the first It's twelve four TCU off
to a fast start against Wisconsin. It's time for an
id time for our local stations to identify themselves. This
(09:25):
is badger basketball from Learfield. Why the fast start for
the Frogs Well, I.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Think one of the things offensively, Wisconsin hasn't gotten their rhythm.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Part of that's the way tc is guarding.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Defensively, Wisconsin started with two easy layups, so defensively, Wisconsin
needs to be a little bit more engaged together make
it a little bit more difficult for TCU. Now they've
given some confidence. They banged two threes, so that's six
of it. The other two layups, and then you had
the little drive there and offensive rebound by punch. So
you talked about six points by dunks or labs, the
(09:56):
other six by threes. So you got to make sure
your guard that an offensively, make sure that you're getting
multiple sides of the floor. Tc wants to be aggressive, then
you have to be aggressive in what you're doing to
what you're running right now. To me, Wisconsin offensively looks
very passive in what they're trying to run.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Badger ball left to right.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Jack Chanicky has checked into the game for the first
time for Wisconsin a season nine nine points.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yesterday in the win against.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Providence, Nick Boyd hooks a pass to Janicky on the
left wing, back to Nick High on the left fifteen
on the shot clock, Boyd back to Janicky High on
the left now rap left wing. A couple of dribbles
had it stripped, gets it back, Bilowskis swings it to
Blackwell near mid court with four on the shot clock.
Ball was nearly stripped by Jase posey Blowski's a half
court heave.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
It hits the backboard and.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
A shot clock violation on Wisconsin. A great defensive stand
by TCU out of a badger timeout.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
But all that was started because of the blitz of
the ball screen, which is more or less just say doubling,
a hard aggressive doubling of the ball screen. John Blackwell
ended up catch up the ball all the way to
near half court, and it just throws off that offense.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
You got to attack pressure with pressure. Rock Harding walks
the ball across half court, guarded by Nick Boyd Michael
Robinson out to set a high screen. Boyd stays in
the Harding stays in the back court, now guarded by
rap free throw line jumper arding. It hits the front
of the rim and drops in off the backboard, and.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
You can, I hate to say you can live with that,
but that's a shot you can live with.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
And that's the first one, and you're like, okay, TCU
by ten, fourteen to four, less than fifteen minutes to go,
first half. Braden Carrington into the game for the first
time for Wisconsin. Number zero, Rap to Winter high on
the right Boyd right wing three ball. It's good for
Nick Boyd. Fourteen to seven TCU buy seven. Big shot
there by Nick Boyd. So offensively Wisconsin. You need to
(11:47):
see the ball going. That's now one for four from
three point range in the game. Jayden Pierre top of
the arc. Three ball on the way and it rattles
in and that's the third triple for TCU.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
They'll lead back to.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Ten and Andrew lost him. I mean it was that simple.
Boyd spins left elbow, extended kickout wrap top side for three.
It hit the left part of the rim and a
long rebound corral by Jase Posey in the corner to
our right TCU ball. It's David punch in the lane,
high post shot off last too strong. Rap the offensive
rebound be you're part of the defensive rebound in traffic
(12:20):
for Wisconsin. Set it quick Boyd three throw line, drives
the lane and hits the lay up on the left side.
But that was all because there was a little bit
of a rub by Nolan Winder. He sprinted down the
floor a little bit of a rub. They thought they
were gonna set the screen. They don't. Nifot has driving
Lake and Boyd urging the Wisconsin fans to get on
their feed here with TCU up seventeen to nine, thirteen
(12:41):
thirty five to go in the first herding top of
the key for the Frogs, left elbow kickout Micah Robinson
in the left corner, skip pass to David Punch left
of the circle, tracing the yarc punch it pass to
Pierre on the wing six to shoot right wing, Pierre
to the right elbow, fataway jumper. Good for Jaden Pierre.
That's tough shot. Well you hit it.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
It was more than a tough shot.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Really good defensive possession by Wisconsin, just better offense. Nineteen
to nine TCU Badger ball, thirteen oh eight to play
in the first Andrew Roady high on the left, passed
a rap left wing three on the way and good
for Austin Rapp and it's nineteen to twelve. TCU Badger's
starting to get their three point game going.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
TCU ball.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Michael Robinson bounced past right of the lane to David Punch,
guarded by Winter Punch high post, mid post up with
the right hand off the square and in for punch.
He has six. I mean another good defense, I mean
offensive possession. They're like Wisconsin parted and Traveliet Loyd three
over penetrated. In that situation. Nolan did a great job
of walling up against punch punches, threw it up off
(13:47):
the blast, it goes in. But I thought defensively that
was a good possession.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I tell you what.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
The backcourt tandem of Brock Harding and Jayden Pierre for
TCU bringing a lot of energy right now. They're not
chawing at the Badgers, but they are shouting after every
defensive stop. They are really amped about this game and
this opportunity. I don't think TCU was expected by anyone
to win the Rady Children's Invitational, but here they are
(14:14):
up twenty one to eleven with twelve and a half
to go.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
In the first rock Harding to.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
The right elbow the former Iowa Hawkey with a pass
to Jase Posey on the right wing, guarded by Carrington
in the lane, Posey spins over the left shoulder, uses
the glass at rims out Andrew Roady. The rebound Roady
bringing the ball up the floor guarded by Tanner Toolsen
off the TCU bench, jump past, wrap top of the
arc in the lane. No Winter, and it's off his
hands and out of bounds. TCU ball. Winter was on
(14:46):
a cut. He was open, but just couldn't quite sync
up with rap and it's a Badger turnover.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah, and Nolan had the right move there by going
to the front of the rim with it.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
You gotta make sure there's hand targets four turnover already
for Wisconsin, none for TCU. The Badgers had seven all
game against Providence yesterday. Harding calls for a screen top
of the key. It's set by Edmonds, who rolls to
the basket. Harding dribbles to the free throw line. Hand
off the Levitius now posey with the pass to Harding
(15:16):
left of the circle. Harding drifting to his right nine
to shoot just off the free throw line. Harding drives
down the lane, hits the finger, roll around the world
and in for Brock Harding, who has four.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Everything going down for TCU.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
They lead by twelve with eleven thirty three to go
in the first half. Blackwell back to the basket at
the free throw line, out to wrap top of the key.
Rody at the logo at mid court, ball at his
waisted past to Blackwell high on the right. Blackwell drives
in the lane, lay up cutoff glass for John Blackwell.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
He has four.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Now Toolson on the left wing and transition three balls
short Blackwell the rebound room to roam for the Badgers.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Eleven zho nine.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
To go in the first. Blackwell to the lane, and
he is a follower, And I thought it was gonna
be yeah, absolutely that it's not an and one. But
John Blackwell has two free throws and they're not. I
think they're gonna say this thing's on the floor. Really yeah,
I thought the same thing. I think it's gonna be
on the floor. Yep, you're right, Yep, you're right. And
(16:18):
it's on brock harding Hardings first, the team's third for TCU.
There's a time out on the floor with eleven h
seven to play in the first. From the Rail Transport
Broadcast booth in San Diego, TCU leads Wisconsin twenty three
to thirteen. This is Badger basketball from dear Field. It's
(16:39):
twenty three to thirteen TCU over Wisconsin with eleven oho
seven to play in the first. On the go and

app now. Badgers have hit their last three shots. Butchy,
But TCU is ten of sixteen from the Florida start
this game sixty two point five percent.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
That's not good enough there, but they also have seven
points off turnovers. Four Wisconsin turnovers leads to seven points
for TCU. It's a ten point game even when you're
not guarded at the elite level that they need to
guard on.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I think that's the biggest thing that I look at.
Badger's just one for six from three point range. TCU
three for four. And we mentioned the Badgers have hit
their last three shots. They started one of nine. TCU
has come ready to play, trying to notch their second
marquee non conference win, and as many days after they
upset number ten Florida by four points yesterday, a game
(17:46):
in which TCU trailed at halftime. It's Badger ball. Out
of the time out. There was a foul called on
brock Harding before the break. Blackwell, Garlock, rap Roady and
Carrington are the five on the four for Wisconsin. They're
ready to go and TCU is still seated in their huddle,
like the chairs are out on the court and everything.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
So TV timeouts a little bit longer, a little bit longer.
I know, you get moved to big Fox now all
of a sudden, it's a big deal. Everything's gonna change
a little bit. But I like that in general. Defensively
right now, Wisconsin is where they need to pick it up.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
I love the abilly of.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
John Blackwell to attack downhill, put some pressure on the
rim that was off an offense or a defensive rebound.
He brought the entire time and TCU didn't stop him.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Blackwell in bounced to Garlock the freshman right corner. Carrington
has it now on the right wing, gets it back
from rap same spot, wrap right lane line double team
slipped through misses the layup with the left hand a
finger roll and the rebound to the.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Levitis and TCU.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Jaden Pierre on the ball top of the arc, guarded
by Blackwell underhand dribbled Posey and now Edmond's with it
on the right side, Levitis to the top of the
arc and past to Pierre left of the circle. Rody
steps out on Pierre with fourteen on the shock. Lolock
now with Xavier. Edmunds drives baseline right, whips a pass
to Posey who travels underneath the rim and it's Badger ball.
(19:13):
So a turnover there for TCU and the Badgers will
try and capitalize down ten. Austin rapped with a past
to Carrington on the left wing up top, Garlock right wing,
Andrew Roady Roady for Garlock baseline right, double team low
block right, and he turns it over. Bad pass that
John Blackwell couldn't handle. It's TCU ball. Here's Pierre up
(19:35):
the near sideline left wing, Moblock left off the glass
and in Pierre has seven. And I said, Wisconsin's turnover
does what to tc or fuels them right like just
another example turnover, another point off turnover. They got nine
of the Lord wrapped with a pass to Roady up
top under ten minutes to go, first half, bounce past Garlock,
(19:55):
catching the restricted circle. He's in no man's land, guarded
by Edmunds. He throw throws it off Edmonds out of bounds,
so Wisconsin can reset with an inbounds pass and Garlock
heading to the bench for Nolan Winter. Yeah, and Will
did a good job the first time, but if he
goes up and shoots the ball, it doesn't there's no
turnover the last time, and then then a lastis actually
(20:17):
caught her at the rim. Go upit score the ball.
Just like that. Blackwell catches the inbounds pass and is
fouled hard low block right.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
He's going to the free throw line this time.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
That's the difference between a guy that's played a lot
and Will Garland who's trying to, you know, still learn
how the flock. Yeah, the only time he learn is
to play him. But you know, John realized, Okay, I'm
underneath the basket. I'm gonna go up, get some contact.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Go score. Misses the layup but gets the free throw lot.
When you're that far underneath the basket, most offenders freak
out because they're like, oh no, I'm beat, I'm beat.
What do I do? They're probably gonna follow you if
you go up, and that's just again a learning experience
there for Will go Arlock. Instead, that's a turnover. John
Block ends up with two free throws. That's the difference, and.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Blackwell hits both free throws.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
He's leading the Badgers with six points four to four
at the free throw line, twenty five to fifteen TCU,
the leading the ball with nine to forty five to
go until halftime. Pierre the middle of the logo finds
Brock Harding left wing, Xavier Edmunds top of the dish,
now Pierre down the left lane line, picks up his
dribble up top, punch, has it, hands it off to Harding,
(21:29):
kick out left wing, Pierre top of the arc Edmunds
Now Punch on the right wing. Punch threads a pass
baseline right to Edmunds. Three on the shot clock, fade
away high post. It's in for Xavier Edmunds and I
just don't know. Defensely, what else do you do? Then?
I mean, I was a good good test. It almost
forced them out almost the free throw for a fatal one.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Twenty seven to fifteen TCU.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Here's a three ball Andrew Roady from the left corner
that splashes home Roadies first points of the day twenty
seven eighteen TCU.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Harding left to the lane, bounce past left.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Corner, Pierre, Pierre in the lane right elbow kickout punch
right wing three. Good for David Punch, who's been two
for eight from three point range before he.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Drained that one.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
And as nine was wait for you to say it
because I knew it, And I said, are you kidding me? Here?
Roady baseline left drive bounce pass intercepted by Brock Harding,
but he lost it out of bounds on the end
line Wisconsin ball. And the reason I said, you know
two of eight are you kidding me? Is because you
play the percentage a little bit right like you say it.
(22:34):
You help to make sure that they can't drive get
to the bass.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
You do everything you're supposed to do based on the
scutter report and the KYP know your person health, and
then they hit a shell like that, so you just
gotta keep playing.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Thirty to eighteen TCU Roady from the right corner overhead,
passed the Winter up top, now wrap left to the circle.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Winter right of the circle right corner Roady for three.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
I care him off the rim and Punch has the
week side rebound for TCU, Harding up the floor right
to left back to Punch drives the lane, draws the
foul and is going.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
To the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Now that's the time where Punch does just be Wisconsin
down the floor. You can't have that. Those are the
transition opportunities that you just cannot have. John Blackwell the
foul first personal second team foul on Wisconsin, and Punch,
a sixty six point seven percent free throw shooter at
the line, hits the first and he is already into
(23:30):
double figures with ten for the fifth time this season.
UW Health Sports Medicine, the healthcare team for the Badgers
and proud sponsors of UW Athletics. Blackwell, boyd Rap Roady
Winter the starting five on the floor right now for Wisconsin.
One more free throw for the sophomore David Punch, the
(23:50):
only returning starter for TCU from last season. He hits
them both and has a game high eleven.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
A Wisconsin tame that scored one hundred and four. I
know it's not but you know their average at ninety something.
We've got eighteen lighting with twelve minutes gone.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Rap between the arc high pass right wing.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Winter uses every inch of his seven foot frame plus
wingspan to haul it in. Blackwell now top of the arc,
started by Pierre with ten to shoot it's Blackwell for
Rap top of the key, Rap dribbles low block left
and tries to find Blackwell Week's side. That's the third
time the Badgers have tried to lane pass from one
(24:32):
side to the other, and every time it's gone out
of bounds for a turnover.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
TCU ball.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
When we come back seven point fifty four to go
until halftime, it's thirty two eighteen TCU over Wisconsin from

com to find out how thirty two eighteen TCU over Wisconsin.
TCU scorching hot to begin this game, thirteen of nineteen
from the floor, four to five from beyond the long line,
and Wisconsin just trying to hang around right now and
steady themselves for a counter punch. And you've talked a
(25:20):
lot about, you know, offensively. To me, it's seven turnovers
they've or six excuse me, six turnovers they've created. I
think that's the biggest thing is it's taken on Wisconsin
offensively out of it, and they I've set it and
I'm going to continue to say it because it's what
fuels TCU. When you turn the ball over now all
of a sudden, that's the energy they get, that's what
(25:42):
they play with, that's how they want to go. You
can't add fuel to the fire. You cannot do it.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
And unfortunately Wisconsin has that TCU Michigan game. I'll go
to that because Michigan turned the ball over a good
amount and that's where TCU got the confidence to keep
it of very very tight game. Michigan ended up winning
that game sixty seven sixty three. But the reason TCU
was in the situation they were because they were able
(26:08):
to turn over Michigan. They're doing the same thing right
now to Wisconsin, and that's where Wisconsin needs to be
disciplined enough offensively, and some of the turnover just uncharacteristics
and unforms TCU.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Ball out of the time out in the gray Jerseys
with purple trim. Jayden Pierre on the Rady Children's Invitational
Logo finds Micah Robinson right wing. He dribbles to his left,
picks it up, finds Pierre left wing, now guarded by
Janicky tend to shoot Pierre a paint touch of shot,
fake a spin, a fade away, and Pierre misses off
the front rim. He hasn't missed much today. But Wisconsin
gets the rebound. Nick point up to Flora, stops on
(26:45):
the right wing, centers himself on the hardwood, standing on
the half court logo guarded by Brock Harding, and he
flips it to Nolan Winter high.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
On the left.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Now Blackwell high on the left in front of the
TCU bench. Blackwell into the lane high post up top
Janick right corner Boyd shot fake ball block right Boyd.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
A lamp is good on the right side. Now they
got a guard on this sun.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Boyd has seven thirty two to twenty TCU six point
fifty six to play In the first Robinson, tracing the
arc to his right, has Pierre back to Robinson in
front of the Wisconsin's.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Bench right side.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Robinson faseline right, jumps up underneath, and the shot off
the underside of their backboard and a follow up called
against Nolan Winter of Wisconsin his first the team's third
tough guard there by Nolan, and he gets beat. And
because he gets beat, he gets a little bit out
(27:41):
of position. I know the fancy you don't light the call,
but I just think it probably was the right call. Robinson,
the sophomore from Kansas City, hits the first free throw,
his first point of the game. Listen to all Things
college sports, including live games in talk on Sirius XM
College Sports Radio Channel four and streaming on the Serious
(28:02):
XM app As Robinson splashes another one home. The seventy
two percent free throw shooter has two points today and
the lead is fourteen for TCU with six forty to
go in the first half. Right wing John Blackwell Winter
rolls to the high post, pass up top to Boyd. Instead,
Bill Awskis sets the scream. Boyd follows to his left.
Boyd gets inside, kickout Blackwell right wing three down.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
It goes for John Blackwell.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
He has nine.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
If they're gonna be aggressive with you, get to paint
and now all of a sudden, you sprayed out to
your shooters.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Thirty four to twenty three. TCU.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
David punch just inside the arc up top, harding, top
of the key, right elbow, extended harding skip pass posey
left wing three too strong in the rebound, Bill Awskis
badger ball John Blackwell on it, drifting to his left.
Bilowskis top of the wheel. Now Boyd high on the right.
Boyd hooks a pass to Nicky near corner for three.
It's too strong offensive rebound. Blackwell baseline left, backing down
(29:00):
rock harding Blackwell, bully ball, laying Good on the left.
It's turning into a John Blackwell type of day. He's
got eleven points. The Badgers are on their feet, the
fans that is, and Jamie Dixon of TCU needs a
time out with five point forty one to go in
the first thirty four to twenty five TCU in front.
(29:24):
This is a thirty second timeout, if I'm not mistaken, Yes,
it is a thirty second time out. It's been on
the defensive end.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
The reason Wisconsin has been able to cut into the
lead is because defensively for the last three plus minutes,
no field goals by TCU. Because defensively, Wisconsin has been
way more engaged. They've made it very different. Yes, tc
has been able to get to the free throw on
a little bit, but what they've done is they haven't
given up any easy baskets.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
TCU has fourteen points in the paint right like that's
why they've got a lot of their energy, a lot
of their stuff early on points the paint, and then
they nailed a couple of threes.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Wisconsin shut that off from the paint, and they really
haven't given anything easy down below, and that's why they've
been able to cut.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Into this lead. Nick Boyd continuing to energize both his
teammates and the Badger fans here as we resume play
TCU ball in the frontcourt to our left, l Levitisa
three b Lataris. Le Levitis has nine points from deep today,
but Nick Boyd and John Blackwell didn't communicate on the screen.
(30:29):
Two into one and then he was wide open. Thirty
seven to twenty five TCU Blackwell near corner. He's got
a three ball on the way in good and Blackwell's
got fourteen.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
I'm good to see for John Blackwell get going. Obviously
two of ten yesterday. He struggled yesterday. He's not struggling
right now.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Thirty seven to twenty eight TCU the lead in the ball,
the Levitis wrap around passed behind us back to Micah Robinson.
The three ball rims out. Bi Alaus gets the rebound
four Wisconsin. Boyd up the far sideline left to right,
high dribble for Boyd now Blackwell left wing three. It's
blocked by Jayden Pierre loose ball picked up by Harding underneath.
(31:05):
He races up the floor right to left. Harding slashes
to his right. He's outside the lay now and brings
it outside the arc high on the right. Harding dribbling
with the left hand, guarded by Boyd. Now Harding to
but there's a lack of communication there another lack of
communication on the switches. Now that you'll get burnt because
hard is the one choot the three. But you gotta
talk through the switches. He misses short. It's Badger ball.
(31:28):
Nick Boyd dribbles down to the right wing. Boyd step
back three off the back iron lit Levit hits the rebound.
I don't love that shot. First time.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
He's all the threes that they've got because there's been
from paint touches two to three.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
First time the Badgers have taken a shot like that
in this game. Four to ten to play. In the
first thirty seven to twenty eight TCU Brock Harding on
the ball. Harding dribbles down, guarded by Bill Awskis on
the right wing seven to shoot Harding blow by Bill
awskis up stop, draws the foul low block right, hits
the bucket and is going to the line Brock Harding
(32:06):
with a chance for a three point play as TCU
is now up thirty nine to twenty eight with three
point fifty seven to go in the first. From the

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Thirty nine to twenty eight TCU over Wisconsin, three point
fifty seven to go in the first and a TCU
team that has just come ready to play Brian No
two ways about it. They're shooting sixty percent from the floor,
five of nine from deep. The Badger's offense has started
to settle in Yere. They're shooting forty one percent from
(32:56):
the floor four of thirteen from.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Three point range.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
But just need some stops here because TCU's making it
look easier right now. There's a little bit of that offensively.
I think when you look at you know, nine of
twenty two, four of thirteen from three, I think Wiscon's
can look to break the pain a little bit more offensively.
When you do that, those are the threes that they've
been hitting. Some of the threes they've taken, just they
(33:20):
haven't done that. It's been dribble, dribble shoot, or it's
been one pass shot. And those aren't the threes you're
trying to get.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
I get it, they're wide open, but a lot of
those haven't been they've been kind of contested.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
But fifteen to twenty five for TCU from the floor,
you've got to guard a little bit more than what
they've done. Badgers, after breaking the team huddle on the court,
have huddled up among the five players in the game
right now, Nick Boyd, Jack Janicki, Andrew Roady, Austin Rapp
(33:52):
and Alexis Bilawskis. TCU continuing to take every advantage in
the extended TV timeouts that they can, and that is
certainly their prerogative. They remain very comfortable on the floor
right now, seated on their chairs.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
For the on court players.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
The TV timeouts a little bit longer here for the
Rady Children's Invitational than as is the customary TV timeout length.
It is a long time out it's.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
A long time out.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
There's no question how a lot like. I mean, this
is like playing with a slow golfer. Nobody likes playing
with a slow golfer. Now, Brock Harding has made his
way down to the free throw line for TCU, wearing
contrasting shoes, one yellow Nike shoe on the right, one
purple one on the left. Harding a chance to complete
(34:48):
a three point play here. But that layup was the first.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Points in the paint by TCU. You know, since that
stretch we talked about, there was a good stretch there.
Wiscon's unlimited. That Hardy got to the taint, that was
the first points league score.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
He misses the free throw, however, and the Badgers have
the ball now with three point fifty to go until
half time. Andrew Roady high between the arc double team
comes open man Bill Auskis, and the hot beat is
tipped by Bill Awskis out of bounds. It's TCU ball.
The Badgers have turned it over a ton in the lane. Specifically, Yeah,
I mean it was a good pass by Andrew. That's
(35:24):
where a luxis he cuts the ball.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Bill Auskis sits because why is that a good pass?
Because the double team came there. They blitzed it. The
big head if you can hold that ball a second longer,
because now all of a sudden, that big has way
more space. No one's around him. It's a finish, that's
a dunk, and it would have been headed it.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Let's just caught it. Harding in the lane hits a
contested left handed layup Brock Harding with eight points now
Nick point pushes the tempo left to right and he
glides in with a layup on the right side four Wisconsin,
makes the score forty one to thirty TCU with three
seventeen to play the first, Harding, skipping to his left
(36:02):
on the wing, curls back on Boyd dribbles to the
top of the arc. One armed bounce pass exchange with
Edmund's Harding free throw line jumper airball and it's saved
by toolsitting but into the hands of Andrew Roady. Transition
past right wing Nick Boyd, he stops download a winter
big Man inside low block right shock bake and he
is blocks Yeah, judge Oe. Ball is called with the
(36:26):
possession Arrow pointing two Wisconsin. And there was a lot
of contact down there, and people are gonna say there
was a wall up, but you can't wall up and
walk under somebody. I thought there was too much contact.
Then the possession arrow pointing to TCU correction, so it's
TCU ball. Nolan Winter in the game today for Wisconsin
(36:51):
just two points. One rebound and rock Harding walking the
ball across half court. Harding on the logo now finds
Edmunds top of the arc. Edmunds drives right lane, line
up on Nolan Winter. The shot too strong and Winter
pulls in the rebound. Two and a half minutes to
go until halftime. Badger ball down eleven boyd with a
(37:13):
burst jump past tipped and last touch by Wisconsin. It's
TCU ball. Another Badger turnover. They're eighth and nick one.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Of John blackwill to slide up the slot area of that,
but Nolan Winter was their space. You wise, so you
can't leave your feet because of that. It leads to
another turnover.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Brock Harding top of the key, passes to Punch drives
the lane.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Punch misses the layup.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Good wall up defense by Nolan Winter and then a
foul called on TCU in the battle for the rebound.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
It's Badger ball.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
And you sit a great wall of defense there by
Nolan Windon verticality goes straight up and down.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Makes it very difficult. Hey, it's tough to score over
a seven footer when they just go straight up straight down.
Was on Xavier Edmonds of TCU, his second, the team's fifth.
There have not been many fouls in the first half.
Neither team is in the bonus, and we have just
over two minutes to play. Boyd on the dribble four
Wisconsin with the left hand, walking to his left on
(38:14):
the logo right now, pass to Blackwell high on the left,
ball at his waist.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Blackwell around the high Winter screen.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Blackwell tripped in the lane, gets a finger roll off
and lays it in from straight away. Get back to
sixteen Tanner Toulson left wing in the lane. Tulsen throws
up a wild shot. Ball is loose and picked up
by Winter. Badger's down nine on the move Boyd on
the right wing. Rody has it catch in the New
York corner. Skip past Winter top of the arc, hand
(38:43):
off Boyd right wing, Boyd to the free throw line,
kick out Blackwell left wing. Blackwell a drive in the paint.
Fato a jumper wide left wrap the offensive rebound Rody
left wing for Wisconsin. Rody tribbles baseline left, kickout Winter
top side swings it to Blackwell left wing. Three.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
It's good and.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
The Badgers are down six and a great ball move
in by Wiscott's a great extra pass by Nola Windsor
forty one thirty five TCU ball with one minute to
go until halftime. It's punched right at the lane, jumps
out mid post, stripped, stolen by Blackwell. Badger ball. Final
minute until the break. Rody left wing back to Blackwell
(39:26):
up top. Winter swings it right wing, Boyd spacing the floor,
Boyd in the lane, left hand fade away pulled down
off the rim by Robinson. It just did like that
possession TCU ball Levitchius left wing kickout Toolsen free throw
line Toolsen brings it outside the arc, resets with the
point guard harding. Twenty seven seconds to go until halftime.
(39:48):
Fifteen seconds now on the shot clock for TCU Badger
fans on their feet harding with.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Nine on the shot clock.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Free throw line harding right lane line guarded by Rody.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Are you on the shot clock lose Paul Well?
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Levitch's right way and gets the shot off short rebound rap,
but he is fouled by TCU Wisconsin Paul with eight
seconds to go in the half. The foul is on
David punch of the horn. Frogs.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Now, what a response here by Wisconsin defensively, they've done
a great job. Another scoring drought of three plus minutes
for TCU.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
And the Badger's with plenty of time to get a
look here seven seconds to go, Blackwell dribbles it across
mid court. Down to three. Blackwell spins in the lane
fadaway jumper. Blackwell's got it at the horn in the
first half and Wisconsin trims the lead to four points
going into the locker room at halftime Forty one thirty seventh.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
TCU over Wisconsin at the break.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
Badger's close with a flurry and have momentum despite trailing
at four at the break forty one thirty seven to
score TCU. Are Culver's halftime report is next. This is
Badger basketball from lear Field. Before we start the second
half here in San Diego. Let's past ten seconds for
our network stations to identify themselves. This is Badger basketball
(41:22):
from lear Field. It's Badger ball to start the second
half with the championship trophy of the eighty Children's Invitational
on the line, Blackwell, boyd rap Winter and Roady the
starters back on the floor for Wisconsin. It's Harding lit Levities,
Edmunds punch and Dare the five on the floor.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
For TCU.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Austin Rapp gets the ball low post. He goes up
and the shot was block, no foul. It's TCU ball here.
Less than thirty seconds into the second half, Xavier Edmunds
top of the dish pass bat it out on an
entry feet to David Punch. TCU comes up with it
at mid court. Shot clock does not reset. Harding slings
(42:02):
it to Pierre up top with now ten on the
shot clock. Jaden Pierre asks for a screen around to
his left, still outside the arc, long two point try
too strong for Pierre.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Offensive rebound edwards feet punch who rocks the rim.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
And that's how the second half starts, not the physicality
Wisconsin wanted to start with.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Right down below, got a bat offensive shot, then they
give up the offensive.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
Rebound forty three point thirty seven TCU. They strike first
in the second half. Andrew Roady catch on the left
wing high on the left now pass to Nolan Winter
around the arc to Nick Boyd on the right in
the far corner John Blackwell, guarded by Harding eight on
the shot clock. As Blackwell hoists a three, it goes
halfway down and pops out. Rebound TCU Pierra head to
(42:50):
Harding top of the key. Harding hand off punch, punch
threads a pass left to the lane to Exavier Edmonds,
guarded by Winter, lowers the shoulder on Winter goes up
in the lane and sinks it.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Edmunds has six.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Great start for TCU out of the halftime break forty
five thirty seven the lead over Wisconsin eighteen thirteen to
play in the game. Winter high on the right, gets
it to Boyd just in front of the scorer's table.
Boyd spins on Brock Harding bounce past right wing Nolan
Winter for three skims the rim punch the rebound for TCU,
(43:28):
Parting a lateral pass to Pierre up the floor to
Lelevicius Lo Levitis in the lane, kickout punch, low block
left a dart.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
To Edmunds and he was all alone. He lays it
in and it was.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
A Sama, come in here. Yeah, A six to zero
run for TCU to start the second half. What a
bounce back for TCU and Greg Garden needs to call
a time out with seventeen forty three to go in
the half, Badgers have seated all the momentum that they
had going into the locker room at halftime. Right back
to the horn frogs from the rail train broadcast booth.
(44:01):
This is Badger basketball from lear Field. Manards is a
proud sponsor of Wisconsin Athletics and reminds everyone to save
big money on all your home improvement needs at Menards
forty seven thirty seven. TCU has scored the first six
points in the second half to regain a double digit
(44:22):
advantage on the Badgers. Wisconsin once again on the floor
waiting for TCU to break the time out huddle again.
They're taking the time that they are allotted because of
this game being on Fox, and the Badger fans growing
are a little restless as TCU now takes the floor
in the great jerseys, white letters and numbers, Wisconsin in
(44:45):
the white jerseys with red letters and numbers. Offensively, Wisconsin
got to continue to move the ball, put some pressure,
whether it's a hard heads or blitz. Excuse me, which
is that double team Wisconsin, can you know the guard
pull one more dribble out all of a sudden, get
that slipping big with Wisconsin has not been able to
get that a lot. They've tried it a couple of times,
(45:06):
had a couple of turnovers. But that really is the
look that they can do with that one dribble retreat
dribble pull both defenders with you. You'll hit that pocket,
pass that pick. That's an option, but it's gonna start
on the defensive end. I mean, that's really what it is.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Offense, rebound dunk, a quick layup, you know, post play
for a finish, just too easy.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
John Blackwell, standing about eight feet to our left, will
inbound it from the sideline. Badge your ball out of
the time out. He gets, hitting to wrap hand off
right back to Blackwell high on the right. Now with it,
wrap top of the key, dribble to his left, dishes
to boy now Winter guarded by Pierre on the right side,
Blackwell on the right wing, Blackwell for Rony right wing three.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
It's on the way. It's off the rim and the
rebound to.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
Harding of TCU up the floor Pierre left to right
for the horn Frogs Pierre crossover Blackwell underneath the rim
tied up by Rony and ball is called and it
stays with TCU. Great defense by Andrew Roady underneath for Wisconsin.
(46:12):
TCU sends brock Harding to the end line to get
it in twenty two seconds on the shot clock, Pierre
catches on the right wing.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
Pierre with a chest pass off to Edmunds right of
the arc.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
Edmunds to his left hand off Harding, right elbow extended,
whips the pass to Pierre up top nine on the
shot clock. Now entry pass left to the lane to Edmunds.
Five on the shock clock. Edmunds guarded by Winter. Edmunds
fadeaway jumper baseline. It's short wrap the rebound badger ball
Blackwell right to left raft top the wheel. Rody left
(46:46):
wings drives cut off baseline. Rody looking for an outlet
and finds Rap on the left wing. Rap guarded by Punch,
and Rap turns it over Xavier. Edmunds goes the distance
and slam dunks it home for TCU. Their run is
now eight nothing for TCU to start the second half
forty nine thirty seven. The score boyd top of the
(47:11):
key for Wisconsin tipped past, taken away by Jaden Pierre.
Bounce pass ahead to punch, He bobbles the handle, has
it stripped by Boyd, and Blackwell is up with it.
Blackwell is fouled by Jaden Pierre at mid court. But
we've talked about turnovers. What is it?
Speaker 3 (47:26):
What is It's a DCU, it's fuel. That's what they want.
They want to create those turnovers. It gets them going.
You can just see the energy. The turnover leads to
a dunk. Their benches into it. Everyone's into it a
little bit more. Thankfully, Wisconsin got a turnover back themselves
after they've turned it over. Otherwise you're looking at this
run for TC, you've been a little worse.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
Blackwell catches the inbounds pass from Jack Janicky middle of
the court. Blackwell slips through kick out Janicky shot bacon
into your corner. Janicky finds Blackwell in the left corner
for Wisconsin. Blackwell baseline drive tested layup for Blackwell.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
It's good.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Badger's on the board in the second half. It's forty
nine to thirty nine. Harding with a pass to punch
top of the dish. Punch guarded by Bill Auskis tracing
the arc to his right hand off le Levites, spins
in the lane, drops it off to Punch low block
right punch middle of the lane.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
Around bill Auskis uses the glass and scoops it in.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Punch has fifteen and the lead back to twelve for
TCU fifty one two thirty nine. Right wing Janicki double
team bill Owskis has it top of.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
The key back to Jack right wing.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
Janicki picks up his dribble, finds Winter left of the circle.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
Now Braydon Carrington on the left wing.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Carrington double teamed Winter baseline left spins on Punch goes
up and is fouled low on the left. But that
was the past. I'm talking about a little drilled back.
You can get it to Nola that he could play
off of it. That's another foul on TCU guard Shaden Pierre,
the Providence transfer.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
That's his second and there's a.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Timeout on the floor from the Rail Transport broadcast booth.
Your score fifty one thirty nine TCU with fifteen fourteen
to play.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
This is Badger basketball from lear Field.

Winners announced in June twenty twenty six, the Learfield Director's

(49:40):
you have to begrudgingly give TCU some credit here after
Wisconsin surged late in the first half to go down
by four at halftime. It's been all TCU in the
second half, outscoring Wisconsin ten to two to go up
fifty one to thirty nine. Still time here in the
championship game of the Rady Children's Invitation, fifteen fourteen to play.
(50:01):
But the Badgers have to dig out of another hole here.
Speaker 3 (50:04):
Yeah, Wiscon's with already ten turnovers yesterday against Providence.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
They only had eight. You know, you're fifteen fourteen left
in the second half, and you gotta take care of it.
When you take care of it, you're gonna get good looks.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
But Wisconsin finally was able to hit that little pocket
roll to get Nolan Winter. With the aggressive blitz that
TCU was having, I think wiscons can take advantage of
that a little bit more and one that's on the
guard to it's on Nolan. Winter said, Hey, I'm opening
to make sure we get that, you know, get that
connection a little bit earlier.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
Winter hits the first free throw. He has three points
and misses the second. He does not have a shot
from the field today. It's fifty one forty TCU with
the lead in the basketball just over.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Fifteen minutes to go in the game.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
Wisconsin in a one three to one right now Janicki
guarding Harding topping top of the key.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
Now Jaden Pierre back to Harding right of the circle.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
Three ball Brock Harding nothing but Nett Harding's got eleven
and it's fifty four to forty TCU. John Blackwell on
the dribble, High on the right for Wisconsin. As they
work right to left, Winter ball at his waist one
dribble in a handoff to Jannicky High on the right,
Janicky for Blackwell right wing. Blackwell launches a three two
(51:14):
strong Winter the rebound and he has his He's kind
of hip checked in mid air by David Punch and
Winter falls to the deck and a foul is called
on David punch of TCU. But Winter has gotten hammered
here today. He really I thought the same thing. And
remember the other time he got to the free throw line.
I think I pushed in the back. I thought it
(51:34):
was one that they should take a look at. But
he's got to keep fighting. That's the biggest thing here.
Baseline inbounds John Blackwell, Carrington right corner, three ball rainbows
in and out. Rebound loosen picked up by Jase Posey
Harding in transition left to right, stops in the lane.
Tanner Toulson right of the circle. Three ball on the
way and off the rim. Rebound. John Blackwell for Wisconsin
(51:56):
down fourteen. Blackwell high on the right, blows by Micah Robinson,
jumps up, bounce past Jack Janicki low on the left.
He lost the handle and loses it out of bounce
all the way over by the Badger bench. A Wisconsin turnover.
It's TCU ball and it just adds fuel. I've used
it a lot. I know it's frustrating because we're watching
(52:17):
this thing and just take care of it. That's a
simple passing catch. We haven't seen a lot of turnovers
like that. It was just a simple passing catch now,
so how do you stop to feel your guard? So
they gotta guard on this possession arding top of the key.
Eleven turnovers for the Badgers today, fifteen points for TCU
off Badger turnovers arding still on the dribble, Tanner, Toolson
(52:38):
between the rings, ten on the shock lock hand off
Jase Posey free throw line, right wing.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
Now Toolson drives in the lane.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
Toulson lay up off the rim, tipped up and end
no by Posey, and Winter finally has the defensive rebound
for Wisconsin. Carrington up the floor, Winter swings at left wing,
Blackwell around Toolson, Blackwell low on the left out of
Oh yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Now, I thought when you look at that overall punch
a thought did a good job of verticality. But because
of John ripping baseline and going he was the second defender.
So the verticality, when you turn a little bit, you're
gonna get called for the file.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
The foul is on David punch his second and it
puts Blackwell at the free throw line. He has twenty
three points on the day and he hits the first. Hey,
Badger fans remember that unforgettable upset over top seed at Villanova.
The rematch is here, and this time it's taking place
in Milwaukee, December nineteenth at Fizer. For him, visit ticketmaster
(53:41):
dot com to secure your spot. See you in Milwaukee
on December nineteenth. On more for the junior guard John
Blackwell out of brother Rice High School in southeastern Michigan.
He hits the pay and it's a twenty five point
afternoon for John Blackwell.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
But he needs some help.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
No one else in double figures for Wisconsin's scoring fifty
four forty two TCU with thirteen to twenty seven to play.
Harding threads a pass to Edmonds, but he lost the
handle and it's stolen by Blackwell. Badger's right to left,
Blackwell left to the circle, finds the lane lay up.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
Blackwell too strong.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
He airmails the rim and it's out of bounds underneath
Greg guard wants a foul.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
It's TCU ball.
Speaker 1 (54:29):
It was a great drive by black was a great
drive and he got hit up top and then obviously
they didn't want to run the brim.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
They were letting them play.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
I mean, the physicality's there, and you're talking about where
the help on the offensive end. Defensively, they got a guard,
but Noel Winter and Austin rev only have five points together,
they average twenty.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
Six and a half. Michael Robinson left wing drives bil
Awskis picks up his dribble left to the lane outside
the arct goes to Harding crossover Carrington left elbow. Harding
now the little Levittist left wing, bringing it back out
with Carrington on defense. Five to shoot for Harding NBA
range three. He got it from twenty five feet brock.
Harding puts TCU up fifteen fifty seven to forty two.
(55:11):
Blackwell weaves his way into the lane, has it stripped,
fall on the deck.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
Tc you up with it.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Harding left to right, pass to Michael Robinson a two
hand flush and TCU up fifty nine to forty two.
Carrington slowing things down for Wisconsin. Will Carlock high between
the rings. Jack Tanicki right wing twelve ten to play.
(55:36):
TCU is buzzing right now, Blackwell right wing in the lane.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
Blackwell he traveled.
Speaker 1 (55:44):
I's is trying to do a little too much.
Speaker 3 (55:46):
He's the only one kind of score on the offensive
side of the ball, and he's just trying to do
a little too much. And when you do that, especially
an aggressive team what happens usually leads to more turnovers.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Blackwell needs a breather.
Speaker 1 (55:59):
The Badgers said scored five points in eight minutes to
start the second half, and TCU has outscored them eighteen
to five. Since the break doesn't need a breather. Or
is that coach saying, hey, a couple turnover? Neral comes
sit next to me. I like how you put that? Though,
We'll leave We'll leave him with that one.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
He hasn't been out much.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
I know he hasn't, no, and he's been he's been offensively,
really the only one that's had it rhythm offensively. So
I understand what John was trying to do. Then I
really do well.
Speaker 2 (56:26):
Levitch just right wing up top, Pierre left wing. Micaeh.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
Robinson with nine to shoot, drives rap baseline left and
draws the foul on Austin Raft. Now John Blackwell has
got to get a call like that at some point,
though first personal on Austin Rap. It's just the first
team foul of the half on Wisconsin. But things are
a little bleak right now with TCU on top fifty
nine to forty two with eleven thirty nine to play
(56:51):
from the rail Transport broadcast booth.
Speaker 2 (56:53):
This is Badger Basketball from dear Field.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
Welcome back to San Diego, Ho Chunk Gaming Wisconsin in
deals is the best place for grown up entertainment, games
and fun times. Your odds are better here. Fifty nine
forty two TCU over Wisconsin. Brian Busch and Chris Foster
is with you. Happy Thanksgiving weekend wherever you may be.
However you may be celebrating the holiday weekend. Thanks for
(57:18):
spending part of.
Speaker 2 (57:19):
Your time with us. I don't know do you point
to for Wisconsin right now?
Speaker 1 (57:23):
The fact that they have only forty two points with
eleven thirty nine to go in the second half, of
the fact that TCU's got almost sixty.
Speaker 3 (57:29):
I'm gonna lead towards the sixty. But that's the old
school in me. But I look at the defensive end.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
Now.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
Part of that is because your offense has led to
or your your bad offense has led to offense for TCU,
if that makes sense. To turnovers. You have thirteen turnovers.
That's led to opportunities for TCU to really get going.
But this is a TCU team that they only average
eighty points a game, They only make eight three pointers.
They're shooting at thirty one percent for freez two hundred
(57:58):
and fifty third in the country. So to me, you've
let him get comfortable. And now it's a situation of okay,
you know, you got to find a way to dig
out of it. You still got eleven thirty nine left.
TCU has got a couple of free throws coming up here.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Offensively, you've got to play better pace there, and then
now you've got to strink stops together. You've done it.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
You've had two different three minute scoring droughts from this
TCU team. They're not an elite correct offensive team now.
Speaker 1 (58:24):
Defensively and turn the ball over after this game and
what we've seen against Michigan, it's some other teams up
you know, Florida, you can say, okay, maybe a little
bit more of an elite team there on that side
of the bowl, but not offensively, So lock in defensively.
Micah Robinson waiting at the free throw line for TCU
out of the time out. Austin Rapp committed a foul
(58:47):
for Wisconsin. Going into the break, TCU has made five
of its last seven shots, and Wisconsin has not made
a shot from the floor in four minutes and twenty
four seconds. Robinson's got two free throws six six, two
thirty two a sophomore, and his first one is good.
(59:07):
Robinson has five points today. Badger fans, if you're listening
to this right now, it's time for a reward. Reward,
you're full time fandom with a nice cold Medello Medello
brood for full time Badger fans. Robinson's got five and
now six after a second made free throw, and it's
sixty one forty two TCU up on the Badgers championship
(59:30):
game at the eighty Children's Invitational in San Diego. Nick
Boyd with nine points today, finds Jack to Nicky high
on the left, tripling down toward the wing. Double team
counks back to mid court. It's Boyd top of the arc.
Boyd crossover high post, fadeaway on Pierre and it rattles in.
Boyd has eleven TCU sixty one Wisconsin forty four. Robinson
(59:53):
drives right lane line cut off by rap, pivot foot
down for Robinson, strip by rap, but Robinson g it back,
regains his dribble. Robinson top of the key, now underhand.
Li Levitis curls in the lane. Levitius with the right
hand off Glass and in eleven four Levitis Wisconsin ball
(01:00:14):
ten forty nine to play boyd baseline right, trapped up
top raft, he swings it to Janicky left wing, baseline left.
Janicky stumbles pass into the far corner for Roady right
of a lane. Roady a paint touch and hits the
short range j Roady with five sixty three forty six
(01:00:36):
TCU with ten twenty five to play, it's gotta start
on this ent. Christ has they've got a guard. Pierre
hands it off to Exavier Edmonds right back to Jaden Pierre,
the Providence transfer, who follows the screen to his right.
Top of the key, now left elbow. Pierre snakes his
way underneath, curling in the lane at the free throw line.
He stops with eight to shoot. Toolsen left wing entry
(01:00:57):
left lane Exavior Edmunds and he spins on Jenicky and
lays it home. Edmund says twelve for TCU, nineteen point
lead for the Horned Frogs Badger ball.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Less than ten minutes to play.
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Janicki top of the circles free throw line, Roady left delbow,
kickout Austin Raft.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
For three off the rim.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
No Pierre the rebound weak side, not much to Jaden Pierre,
just six feet tall. He dribbles it up the floor
and hands off to the Levitt's. The native of Lithuania
tanner Toolsen curls spins inside the free throw line out
to the Levittus up top Pierre guarded by Boyd ten
on the shot clocked Pierre right of the circle, picked
(01:01:41):
up by Winter fadeaway jumper baseline right.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Pierre in an out rebound Winter.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Of Wisconsin Boyd up the floor, Boyd crossover in the
lane and the layup is blocked by Pierre out of
bounds baseline right. It stays with Wisconsin twenty four on
the shot clock. Has there been a lot of rhythm
for Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
I think the stats bear it out.
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Badger's thirty nine percent from the floor, five of twenty
from three point range.
Speaker 3 (01:02:10):
Not much rhythm in those. No, No, exactly, And I
mean it's the numbers, and I'm going off the eye test.
Like you haven't seen that ball move You haven't seen
that crisp movement in general. A lot of it's been
when you have an aggressive team that's going to come
and trap. A lot of that ballscreen action. But like
I said, use that retreat, dribble, get that extra space
to create the pass you want.
Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
We haven't really seen that. And a foul call as
Wisconsin gets the ball into Nick Boyd. He was bumped
on the right wing. Foul is on David Punch and
that's the third personal on the TCU forward David Punch
sideline inbound Jack Janicky across the way by the Badger bench.
(01:02:51):
Boyd's got it high on the right, trying to slip
through a screen and he turns it over rock harding
left wing for TCU, harding to the top of the
key left wing. Jase Posey drives in the lane, throws
up a shot and it falls off the right side
of the rim. Posey battling for the rebound. It's out
of bounds underneath and it stays with TCU. It's a situation. Defensively,
(01:03:16):
you gotta lock in. I know I've said a lot,
but to just try to put string together three stops
like you gotta.
Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
You gotta break this down. You're down by nineteen. You
just gotta find a way in your head to slowly
break this thing down.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
But you need to get it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
It's gotta start defensively. Get three stops to the build
out of it. On the offensive end.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Jayden Pierre just inside the arc on the right wing,
brings it back out on Janicky over to Michael Robinson
high on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
The shot clock.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
Wasn't running for easily five seconds. Rock harding right wing
baseline right, throws up an allue to Jase Posey. It's
batted away and taken by Nolan Winter of Wisconsin. Jack
Chenicky up the far sideline, met by Jase Posey, picks
up his dribble and he turns it over David Punch
with the steel. He is fouled by Nolan Winter on
(01:04:02):
his way up the floor. That's a tough foul on
Nolan Winter, just because it wasn't his fault. Yeah, and
they're they're too close to make that pass. And that's
that's what I mean. Offensively, there has been hasn't been
that rhythm fifteen turnovers for the past. I mean, it's
(01:04:27):
a shocking now that was and they were told about it,
and that's that's what TC wanted to do. Jillie good
at doing it. Here's Jase Posey in the far corner
back to Pierre on the left wing. Twelve on the
shot clock. Pierre around a high ball screen right wing.
Pierre crossover on Blackwell, he's in the lane, misses the Euro.
(01:04:47):
In fact, he lost the handle on the way up.
Possession saved by punch downloader Robinson. Two on the shot
clock and a big block by Brayden Carrington. It's a
shot clock violation on TCU.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
So now they've got two stops in a row. They
have it scored on the other side right to now offensively,
come down, try to find some great pace here. Stop
over dribbling because what they're looking for the ball screen
is they're gonna blitz it, so get out of there.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Finally, Nick Boyd rejects the ball screen and Nick Boyd
is fouled in the midst of a eurostep in the
lane for Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
With exactly eight minutes to go in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
The foul is on brock Herding of TCU his second
and there's a timeout.
Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
On the floor.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
Boyd will have a pair of free throws when we
return from the rail Transport broadcast booth. This is Badger
Basketball from lear Field. It's time to spotlight today's best
in the game. Brought to you by Old Dominion Freight Line.
Old Dominion freight line works hard to be the best
in the game and is proud to be the official
freight carrier of Wisconsin Athletics.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
No brainer here, butcher are best in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Today is Badger guard John Blackwell, who's got twenty five
points shooting fifty percent from the floor. He was the
reason Wisconsin entered halftime only down four, and he's probably
Wisconsin's best chance to get back in this game down
nineteen in the second half. You had twenty one points
in the first half for John, only four now in
the second half, and that's part of the reason that
(01:06:15):
they haven't found that chemistry and that rhythm on the offense.
Ven Now, how does a comeback start?
Speaker 3 (01:06:21):
Comeback starts by getting stringing stops together, but it also
starts by getting to the free throw line. That's where
Nick Boyd is right now, that's a good thing. I
might know a little bit about some comebacks that shouldn't
have happened in a Big Ten tournament game. We found
our way fighting ourselves back against Michigan State. And it
all started because we got to the freight throw line
a bunch in the last six minutes and worked our
(01:06:44):
way back to get a win. That's how this team
needs a fight right now. Down by nineteen. You gotta
keep attacking. You gotta try to get to the free
throw line. TCUs six files, Wisconsin only has two. Next
one you're gonna get you to the bonus. So you
just keep continuing to attack. Put pressure, fight pressure with pressure. TC,
(01:07:04):
who's gonna pressure you gotta fight. You gotta try to
find a way to get to the free throw line
and find a way to kind of make this thing closed.
If you can get this down, you know, in four minutes,
get this to single digits, you're gonna feel like, okay,
we we were, we gotta run in us. We can,
you know, maybe do some things to make TC a
little nervous and then see if you, you know, win
another four minute chumps.
Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
But that's what you gotta think right now. Four minute chumps.
Boyd at the free throw line, left handed, released, good
for Boyd, who has a dozen points today. Boyd and Blackwell,
the backcourt duo for the Badgers, have combined for thirty
seven of Wisconsin's forty seven points. Another free throw for
Boyd off the front iron and it bounces in. Boyd's
got a Baker's dozen eight minutes to play. TCU ball
(01:07:49):
sixty five forty eight to score. Full court pressure for Wisconsin,
Harding turns it over, stolen by Brayden Carrington.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Boy To three off the rim and down into the
hands of Posey of TCU.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
Robinson across half court back to Harding with a gray
leg sleeve on the left leg. Robinson has it left
wing punch pass broken up by Winter, but punch hangs
on Posey high on the right down to the top
of the arc.
Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
It's Harding ten on the shot lock.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Harding slips it past the punch left of the lane,
punch guarded by Boyd. A mismatch punch bounce past Posey
throws it up no back to the basket. A wild
shot Carrington collects for Wisconsin. Blackwell to Rody on the
right wing, pass into the ear corner for Boyd left wing.
Carrington three fault good Braydon Carrington off the bench and
(01:08:40):
it's sixty five fifty one. Badgers cut the lead to
fourteen and Jase Posey on the opposite end of the
floor is in the fetal position.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
For TCU or sad to say, grabbing his knee.
Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
Yeah, I was just gonna say because he went up
and it was an awkward, an awkward shot. He tried
to go up, and as soon as he landed.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
You know, he grabbed that knee right away and it
gave it in Wisconsin five or four advantage there.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
Posey, I guess he's probably grabbing his knee, but it
almost looks like the back of his knee or even
the top part of his calf ankle.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Uh, it's all in play. It looks like, I mean,
he's grabbing a little bit of everything there.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
So he's in the restricted circle to our right and
getting a round of applause right now from the sellout
crowd inside Jenny Craig Pavilion as he walks on two
feet to the TCU benched now the TCU locker room,
assisted by the TCU athletic trainer and Latalis l Levitous
(01:09:49):
for TCU. Takes his spot on the floor. Scott's got
this fourteen another little you know, one two two press
here by Wisconsin tries till another possession us into punch
trap comes Harding has it middle of the floor, drifting
to his left.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
He's across mid court, picked.
Speaker 1 (01:10:05):
Up by Boyd who's on his left hip Parting not
getting any breathing room right now. High on the left now,
Punch sets a screen breathing room for Harding underhand, Pierre
a movie screen. MICHAEH. Robinson the Badger bench on its
feet right now because of that missed call. Left wing,
Michael Robinson heaves a three off the left side of
the rim rebound, batted by the Levittus and saved by
(01:10:27):
Winter of Wisconsin. Boyd left lane throws up a lamp
that's blocked by Robinson.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
TCU ball in transition, Pierre drives the.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Lane, throws up a shot, low block left, no call Robinson,
offensive rebound and a foul on the floor against Wisconsin.
And I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
Understand why TCU is so upset about a nonfil call
because with Scott it was the same thing down on
the other end.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
It was literally yo.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Nick Boyd goes the rim, a lot of contact, no
foul call, same type of contact down there, and they're
not and then they.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Have it really all day. Thirty points.
Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
I beg your pardon, two fouls, twenty five points for
John Blackwell. He's closing in on a thirty point days
five points away from that. Brock Harding has it high
on the left fifteen on the shot clock. Harding picks
up his dribble and the entry passes. Oh no, oh,
my goodness is right. It was stolen by Nick Boyd.
But they called a foul on Boyd his second. That's
(01:11:27):
a tough break for Boyd. That's really tough because it
was a switch. It was a switch, and Nick Boyd
switched on the big budget. He just fought around it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
And you don't see that called a whole lot, to
be honest, especially when it's a guard on a big
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Sixty five to fifty one TCU. The levitchis top of
the key right wing Harding. That's an offensive absolutely, that's
the second that they got it this time.
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
Yes, they did offensive foul.
Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
The Tauris l levitchis who leveled Nick Boyd on know
eagle screen on the right wing and had happened that
back to back possession.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
That one was so obvious. Wisconsin Ball.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
You can feel a little bit of an energy turn here.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
If Wiscott's can get a bucket, this place is gonna
get real loud, real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
TCU has missed its last six shots. They haven't scored
in three forty six Boyd left to the circle for Blackwell.
Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
Right at the.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Circle, Blackwell Well block right cross the foul going up,
and he has two free throws coming his way, and
that is another personal foul on Jayden Pierre his third.
How do comebacks happen? Defense, defense and free throws. That's
and they've found a way to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
They've guarded on the defensive Endgers, but they've gotten to
the free throw line. They've kept putting pressure on it.
Now you get two free throws. Hopefully Job makes both
of those. They're gonna have to end line out of bounds,
They're gonna have to imbound it. Wiscons is gonna have
a little bit of a token. TCU is not gonna
get some flow into their own offense. Like this is
how it happens. Four menu chunks. There's still two minutes left.
(01:13:01):
With this four minute chunk. Blackwell's in rhythm at the
free throw line today.
Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
He's made all seven of his tries, twenty six for Blackwell,
who has three twenty point games on the season.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
And he got another twenty seven for Blackwell.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
And now you see the token, and now you see
the crowd get behind this Wisconsin team.
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
Six zero seven to play sixty five fifty three TCU
Harding in the backcourt double teamed Harding with five seconds
gone by off the shot clock gets it across with
three seconds to spare before a backcourt violation. Harding drifting
to his right, guarded by Blackwell. Punch sets a screen.
(01:13:43):
Harding ignores it, drives right lane line, jumps off low
block right. He lost the footing and he traveled Wisconsin
Paul wins of change sweeping through Craig Pavilion. You can
feel it right like it's just one of those things. TCU.
Speaker 3 (01:14:04):
They're playing a little nervous Wisconsin realized they've got some
great energy.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Can the score now again? They're still down twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Here's Boyd right elbow extended, guarded by Harding, top of
the key. Throws it to Blackwell in the lane. Blackwell
shot blocked by punch. TCU ball Micah Robinson for Jaden Pierre,
who's playing with three fowls. Pierre high on the right
near side, guarded by Blackwell, drifting to his left, now
on the Rady Children's logo. Pierre knocks down Blackwell. The
(01:14:36):
levitch just has it inside the arc left side far corner.
Pierre stutterstep three ball good for Jaden Pierre who has ten.
JB just fell down there, Boyd on the left wing
for Wisconsin. Winter swings it to Carrington high on the right.
Carrington launches a deep three off the streen and trains
(01:14:57):
it Braydon.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
Carrington has six.
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
That's an answer, because you still there's four to fifty left.
If you can get a stop, you can get this
to ten with four still to play.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
Sixty eight to fifty six TCU the lead and the
basketball four forty to go. Harding guarded by boy that
mid court now high on the right, cuts it back
to his left left elbow, now at the free throw line,
underhands to Pierre, guarded by Carrington, high between the rings.
Jaden Pierre with the right hand now inside the arc
(01:15:27):
right side in the new yourk corner, Harding pass right lane,
low block right Robinson dish off to puns big man Nolan.
Winter turns him away a block shot. What a block
shot by Gola. What a recovery badger.
Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
Ball high on the right. It's Boyd.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
Boyd drives in the lane, pivot foot fata aaight jumper
good Nick Boyd.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
That's fifteen.
Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
You got it. To ten at four o three time.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Out TCU sixty eight fifty eight.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
TCU leads with Wisconsin and things are getting tight. The
TCU lead down to ten. You're listening to Badger Basketball
from lear Field. Badger Basketball is brought to you by
Cleary Building. We protect what you value. Visit Clearybuilding dot
com to see the Cleary difference. Badgers are starting to
(01:16:20):
see a difference in this game. Four to oh three
to play, sixty eight fifty eight. TCU led by as
many as nineteen, butchy the lead has been cut to ten.
Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
The Badgers have enough in the tank to pull off
a comeback.
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
Well, I mean they got to where they need to
Now it's another four minute game, and that's what you do.
You break it down to your four minutes. You know
they've cut off ni they're down nineteen. They cut off
nine points in that last four minutes. Can they cut
off ten? Now? There's four to oh three left? Now
four so maybe the three seconds left? You never right,
(01:16:53):
Every second might matter, but it starts on the defensive
end the way that they've guarded that last play by
Nolan Winter that should have been a layup for TCU.
Nolan Winter came out of nowhere and he just gobbled
that thing up. You can call the block shot. I
don't know what wh I tell you this. It was
a great effort played by Nola Winter. He stole the
possession for this Badger team. There's energy in this building. Ken,
(01:17:15):
they keep stealing possessions. Winter has only three points, but
eight rebounds, three assists, and one big block. He averages
over one block per game.
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
And Ken, Wisconsin get this thing to single digits with
about two something in a single digit something like six,
where TCU's starting to feel that pressure because TCU offensively,
you know, they've got four turnovers last six minutes, like
they were one of their last eight. They've lost all
of their chemistry, they've lost all of their rhythm on
the offensive end.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
They're struggling. A lot of it's because of what Wisconsin's done,
but a lot of it's because of this pressure at
Wisconsin's put on too, and it's just been token pressure
and more full court pressure for Wisconsin. As Lato ris
Lelevitchs wait to get the inbounds in all right, here
(01:18:05):
we go. Levitch is informed by Jeffrey Anderson he can
run the baseline and he obliges. Levitt just gets it
into Xavier Edmonds Harding the point guard up the floor
and across mid court for TCU, and he's fouled from
behind by Andrew Roady.
Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
As the trap came with Nick Boyd.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
By the way, jump ball goals with scott'son Wisconsin Way
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Yes, so Nick Boyd came in there not knowing there's
a foul.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
I think that fouls on Andrew Roady. Yes, so Nick.
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
Boyd's going in there trying to get a jump ball,
which kind of something I'm sure Greg talked about in
the huddle. Hey, jump balls are so with these you know,
prussure pressed situations.
Speaker 1 (01:18:47):
Go get a jump ball. Pierre gets it in from
the sideline into Harding high on the right, guarded by
Nick Boyd. Harding with a pocket past to punch, who
elevates and misses the layup on the right side, and
then Edmunds is fouled on the way up Wisconsin. Thought
(01:19:10):
there should have been a jump ball, but I think
it should have been. Now they're gonna think they're gonna
call Nolan winter Truck with the Yeah, that's his third
That's what I thought. He saw it too. He was
we at the same angle as Jeffery Anderson on that call.
Sixth team foul on the Badgers with three forty nine
(01:19:33):
to play, sixty eight to fifty eight TCU. Harding gets
it in baseline left Boyd guarding the angle toward the basket.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Harding lobs it to Edmonds.
Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
On the left turnover bounds. Great defense by Nolan Winter.
It's Wisconsin, Paul Gosh, Nolan's been really good defense with
the last couple of possessions. You he's used his length
all right. Now a chance to make it a single
digit game. Boyd to the right wing with a skip
(01:20:04):
in his step back to Blackwell on the logo.
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
At mid court.
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
Blackwell tries left lane line mid range jumper off the rim,
rebound loose and Punch has it for TCU, but stripped,
and Blackwell has it underneath.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
He misses the layup.
Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
Winter fighting for the loose ball and Harding has it
again for TCU.
Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
Jump Ball, jump ball.
Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
Andrew Rody forces to tie up for Wisconsin and the
Badgers will get it back. And Rode not willing to
let go. And he just got Andrew Road, he got
tecked up.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
And I don't I don't know if he said something.
Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
I don't know what it was, but rock Harding was
holding on to the ball the entire time both times
with that, so technical free throws coming up for TCU.
It's the second personal foul on Andrew Roady and brock
(01:21:05):
Harding takes the technical free throw and hits it. And
I don't know what happened in that situation, but both times, yeah, Greg,
Greg's trying to figure out what and I don't know
if someone was said, but that a pair of technical
free throws for brock Harding to make it a twelve
point game, seventy to fifty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
I don't know it.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
It's like it's been a physical game. It's been a
heated game, and I don't I mean both players are
holding on the ball. The second time that happened, Winter
catches the inbounds past Carrington left wing, three rainbow, three
off the heel, and a foul underneath. It's on TCU, Yeah,
it's on. It's on. I believe Pierre it is. And
(01:21:55):
that's his fourth and Wisconsin is in the bonus, so
is TCU for that matter. So John Blackwell has a
one in one opportunity for the Badgers and a chance
to perhaps make this a ten point game again. Blackwell

Blackwell splashes another one, and Blackwell's got twenty nine points,
(01:22:39):
TCU by ten with three nineteen to play, Harding in
trouble in the backcourt. Jump pass ahead and Pierre collides
with his own teammate Robinson, and then a foul.
Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Is called as CCU held onto the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
To me and this isn't because we're in Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
Radio God, that pass based on where that's at, I
thought it should have been, could have possibly been a
travel Yes, like you had two players had the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:23:06):
Yes, that's the collect Like Pierre was hurt on the play,
or at least shaking up shaking it. There's no question
rammed into his own teammate.
Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
And we don't have a replay, and I don't see
a replay of did so I might be jumping you
know to a conclusion. But it looked like two players
had the ball and they collided and then it looked
like they traveled.
Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
Well. TCU is in the bonus as well, and so
Micah Robinson gets a one in one here, you got
a box out. Robinson misses the free crowl Yes, that's
a file too.
Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
On Posey.
Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Posey absolutely pushed John Blackwell too much. John Blackwell with
an excellent block out there. It says, John Blackwell, do
the free throw line? How do how do comes back
comebacks happen free throws? Maybe I'm just throwing it out.
I threw it out that the eight minute mark. I'm
telling you the reason why free throws are so key
(01:24:17):
in comebacks is because the clock is stopping. And I
think Robinson has blood from when they ran into Poles,
when he ran into Pierre. Absolutely does. They've got the
cotton swab out on Robinson. Now who walks to the
TCU bench. You are right as butch. He mentioned the
followers on Jason Posey his first for TCU and John
(01:24:40):
Blackwell at the free throw line, and he misses the first.
You got to make your free throws too, that's the
first one he's missed. He's now ten for eleven on
Wisconsin's fifteen to seventeen. It's it's seventy to sixty TCU.
Blackwell's second free throw is good in the double bonus.
Now let's you set up to the press agent though
(01:25:01):
here with three twelve left, it's down to nine thirty
points for Blackwell. His career high as thirty two seventy
to sixty one TCU. Jase Posey a head up the
near sideline to punch Harding middle of the floor, just
now crosses mid court.
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
Three minutes to go in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
Harding dishes to Pierre High on the right, curls to
the top of the wheel, back to Posey High on
the right, Pierre on the left side. Ten on the
shot clock. Pierre to the top of the arc free
throw line. Pierre guarded by Road. He spins up with
the right hand. No rebound tipped, No Posey has it
underneath blocks by Weber. It's a shock clock. It's a
(01:25:40):
shot clock violation on TCU, and it's Wisconsin. Babs Alulin, Yes,
there was no horn, but that was definitely a shot clock.
Another shot block for Nolan Winter with two forty was
he not I mean Nolan again only three points on
the day, but defensively he has been electric these last
(01:26:02):
four minutes here seventy to sixty one. Badgers have gotten
stops in the second half, but now they need points.
Boyd on the dribble, Winter sets the screen high atop
the key. Boyd low block left, throws it to Carrington
top of the arc, guarded by Robinson. Now Blackwell left
to the circle. Blackwell around Posey to the rack. He's
(01:26:25):
stripped and it's out of bounds. It stays with Wisconsin.
The ball went flying out of Blackwell's hands, but the
Badgers have it eleven on the shock block. Boyd baseline
left gets it into Winter in the left corner. Now
Boyd has it trapped in the left corner and was
a time timeout Wisconsin. Yeah, tough plays to inbounds and
(01:26:45):
I know that's what they're trying to do quickly to
get that thing in. But now Wiscoontson still has a
timeout and they still have a challenge. I believe, yes,
and it's I mean, the only reason that matters is
if they're seventeen, you know, like so, but that does
play a little bit of a factor. Thirty second timeout

Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
No matter how this plays out, down nineteen with eight
minutes of play, Wisconsin has definitely put together great effort.
Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
How can they find a way their finishes. Carrington corner
pockets three off the front, Rim Robinson the rebound, Rody
strips it, lays it in Andrew Rody with a deuce
for the Badgers, and the lead cuts to seven. TCU
ball Brockharding on the dribble, jogging across mid court. Down
to two minutes to play, Robinson hands it off to
Pierre High on the right. Pierre Paul at his waist
(01:28:02):
right wing, Micah Robinson, Robinson top of the arc. It's
Harding now on the logo at mid court. Ten on
the shot locked Robinson into the far corner four Pierre
baseline right dishaft, punch in the lane and he punches
it home and a timeout. TCU with the lead back
to nine for the Horned Frog seventy two to sixty three.
Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
It was a tough possession because Wisconsin got switched and
Wisconsin got switched. What happened was Nolan Winter ended up
on Robinson and not Punch, So then I put Britain
quarantine on Punch. So then when the drive came, because
Nolan was guarding Robinson, Robinson was on the primeter.
Speaker 1 (01:28:44):
Nolan Winter almost blocked that shot, but because that switch
that they had, he was on the preimter.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
He couldn't.

Badgers down nine. John Blackwell with the fourth thirty point
game of his career, a game high thirty points on
eight of nineteen from the floor and eleven made free throws.
It is Wisconsin ball out of the timeout with a
minute forty to play. Carrington into Boyd, who brings it
(01:29:35):
up the length of the floor, right to left, drifting
to his right, settling in now between the circles. Boyd
to Blackwell, top of the arc. Blackwell, looking for the lane,
gets inside reverse short off the left side of the rim.
Punch the rebound harding spins from Carrington up the floor.
Punch bobbles the handle, dishes it off to Robinson, who
(01:29:57):
hits the no.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
He missed the lay up law on the right. It
was a round out.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
Carrington on the ball for Wisconsin right to left Boyd
for a minute seven to play and watches at three
off the rim. Rebound caught by Robinson baseline left and
a foul is called against Wisconsin. Down nine with a
minute two to play. Winter picks up his fourth who
(01:30:30):
had the kind of it you could kind of feel
change a little bit. Wisconsin need to try to get
something offensive. A couple of misshots there and now Robinson,

a minute to play. BOYD from the right wing, cut
off low block right, Blackwell has it right wing, blackwelled
high post, now outlet to rdy left wing. Three in
and out for Roady Pierre the rebound, He's fouled by

Nolan Winter, and Winter's game is over.
Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
Nolan Winter fouls out.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Three points but ten rebounds for Nolan Winter, along with
three assists in two blocks. Alexis bil Auskis will take
winter spot forty six point seven seconds to play. TCU
(01:31:51):
up seventy three sixty three. A couple of free throws
for Jaden Pierre, and he misses.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
The first.
Speaker 1 (01:32:04):
Clangs off the front of the rim. Ten points today
for Pierre, but just three in the second half. TCU
vacates the lane lines in Pierre gets the second free throw.
Boyd up the floor with forty five seconds left to
(01:32:25):
the Badgers down eleven high on the right, Boyd spins
in the lane mid post jumper with the left hand
off the left side of the rim. Rebound tipped into
the hands of Blackwell. Second chance try in and out
on Blackwell, Posey the rebound for TCU and Braden Carrington.
Fowls Posey first on Carrington. Yeah, but overall, can't get
(01:32:51):
down as big as you were, and you're down nineteen
with eight to go. Didn't find that energy that you needed,
and then you try to work your way back. Felboscot
did a good job of working their way back, just
couldn't get it quite close enough.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
Obviously had a chance, and then Andrew Road and got
the technical and then threw it off a little bit.
Then they made one more push and then defensively couldn't
get enough stops to kind of get that to six ers.
Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
You know where Gcu felt a little uncomfortable because now
they're just gonna run out of top. Posey misses the
free throw. He's zero for seven from the floor and
now oh for one at the stripe and he misses
both free throws, but less than thirty seconds to go,
seventy four to sixty three. TCUs Blackwell misses a three
(01:33:36):
from the top of the arc rebound. Tipton corraled in
the far corner by David Punch. He tries to save it,
but he turns it over and Nick Boyd spins inside
the lane and he stepped.

Out of bounds on the baseline.
Speaker 1 (01:33:47):

And before we officially get rolling on the Badgers postgame show,
brought to you by your Wisconsin four Dealers, let's pause
ten seconds for a station id time for our local
stations to identify themselves. This is Badger Basketball from Deerfield.
Seventy four sixty three. TCU knocks off Wisconsin in the
championship game of the Rady Children's Invitational. The lights are off,
(01:35:20):
you're inside Jenny Craig Pavilion, and they've got some spotlights
on the floor as TCU has already been awarded their
championship hats and are just awaiting the official trophy presentation.
So a tough way for the road trip and the
Thanksgiving weekend to end for the Badgers. But there are
some positives that you can point to, especially the way
(01:35:42):
that the Badgers were able to fight and claw their
way back to make TCU work to put Wisconsin away
down the stretch. I suppose that's what you try to
hang your hat on if you're Wisconsin, but they just
got down by too much, specifically to start the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
Badgers exactly what came back once?
Speaker 1 (01:36:01):
They couldn't quite come back twice in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
Oh yeah, it was a four point game going into half.
They were down by four, and you know, TCU came
out six to zero. Run real quick that now it's ten.
And it just kind of was one of those things
where Wisconsin just could not get.
Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
Get going.
Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
And obviously for them to get going, I thought they
did some good stuff to give themselves a chance. They
finished one of the last eleven, so they have a comeback.
You gotta get some shots to goal.
Speaker 1 (01:36:27):
One of eleven in the last you know, eleven shots
just isn't gonna get it done either.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
But you can't dig yourself that big of a hole,
no question about it.
Speaker 1 (01:36:35):
And with the loss, the Badgers dropped to five and
two on the season and return home to Madison tomorrow
with believe it or not, the Big Ten Conference opener
staring them in the face against scrappy Northwestern Wildcats team
I'm December third. TCU improves to five and two. With
(01:36:55):
the win, they win the third annual Rady Children's Invitation on.
Their next game is against Notre Dame. Wisconsin was led
by John Blackwell's thirty points. He finishes with six rebounds
as well. Blackwell shoots eight of twenty two from the floor,
three of eight from three point range, in eleven to
twelve at the free throw line. It's the fourth thirty
(01:37:16):
point game of John Blackwell's career and second this season,
just two off his career high of thirty two points.
We'll take another time out and our Wisconsin Ford Dealers
postgame show continues after this break.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
This is Badger Basketball from.
Speaker 1 (01:37:33):
Dear field Well. They have just announced the All Tournament
team for the twenty twenty five Rady Children's Invitational, and
Badger's point guard Nick Boyd represented on the five man
all Tournament team.
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Boyd said a.
Speaker 1 (01:37:48):
Career high in yesterday's win against Providence with thirty six
points along with seven rebounds, seven assists, and zero turnovers.
Follows that up with a fifteen point performance today and
loss to TCU along with one rebound and three assists.
Boyd has scored in double figures now in all seven
(01:38:09):
games of his Wisconsin career. He entered the game today
first in the Big Ten in points per game and
still at that early stage of the season where those
averages and leaders change and fluctuate wildly game to game.
But so far, I think Badger fans have a lot
to like about Nick Boyd in his first seven games
(01:38:32):
as a Badger. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
Absolutely, And I think now it's the question becomes defensively,
what are the steps they need to do to make
sure that they continue to, you know, take the steps
in the right direction. Offensively, we saw that BYU got
them to him, got into him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:38:49):
They got a little bit out of sorts. TCU got
into them a little bit, got a little lot of
sorts here at times. So I think those are the
things now that they've got to, you know, take a
look at and Corrn. So TCU's defense probably the most
impressive part of the of the win for the today.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Yeah, there's no question I thought defensively, they took Wisconsin's offense,
which is averaging ninety plus points a game they held
in the season three, right like, I mean, it's it's
that's a that's a thirty some point difference there.
Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
Wisconsin. At no point, even when they were making a comeback,
there was very few times that you felt like there
was any rhythm or pace to what they were doing,
and if they had that, it was maybe for thirty seconds,
maybe for minute and a half type deal. It wasn't
for long durations. Final score TCU seventy four Wisconsin sixty
(01:39:46):
three is the Badgers fall in the finals of the
Rady Children's Invitational. Badger's first year in this event, and
it's been great. Great to be here on the campus

for twenty twenty five anyway, really fun to be out here,

They've done a whole lot of that in recent years,
but unable to continue that streak here in twenty twenty five.

Starting in the Big Ten, Number one Perdue knocked off
Eastern Illinois one on nine to.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Sixty two today.
Speaker 1 (01:40:57):
That was not a holiday tournament game, another big non

four to sixty one.
Speaker 2 (01:41:13):
Yukon never trailed in that game.
Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
Illinois has now lost its two games this season to
number five Yukon and number eight Alabama, so no shame

(01:42:33):
A couple other big ten scores to report on here.
We talked about the Ohio State pit showdown in pregame,
and that game is in the early stages of the
second half in Pittsburgh. The Panthers lead Ohio State thirty
four to thirty. Pitt was up ten at halftime. Buckeyes
have scored the first six points of the second half,
(01:42:54):
eighteen to twenty to play.
Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
Ohio State is six and zero on the season under
head coach Jake d.
Speaker 1 (01:43:00):
Fiebler. Pittsburgh is four and three, but all four of
their wins have come at home this season. Colorado knocked
off Washington eighty one to sixty eight to win the
Acrasser Holiday Classic Championship. That game also that tournament also
taking place in the state of California in Palm Desert, Colorado.
(01:43:20):
Is seven to zero on the season, Washington drops to
five and two. One final game to report involving a
Big ten team, and that is the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
They play in the consolation game of the Acrosscher Invitational
against Santa Clara. That game will start at six thirty
Local time a thirty Central time. Minnesota is four and
(01:43:42):
three on the season. They are four and a half
point underdogs to Santa Clara in that game. Santa Clara
is six and one, and that game actually taking place
in Palm Springs, California, not Palm Desert. To clarify, but
you what do you think? Can you believe that Big
ten play is just around the corner? No? I can't.
It's crazy. Obviously. You know when I played there was
(01:44:03):
there wasn't as many teams and it was January Alloys.
Speaker 3 (01:44:07):
But that's why you've got to learn quick. And I
think that's the biggest thing is Wisconsin's got to take
away what they learned from Byu. They did it against
Providence and then you saw a couple of things pop
up again today. But you can't get your you can't
be as doubt as much as you are, and I
think that was the part of it. I did like
their fight. I thought their fight was much better than
(01:44:27):
the BYU game. I thought their fight was was where
it needed to be. It was turning a corner. They
were doing some some good things defensively. Didn't score the
ball as well at the last you know two minutes
that they would have been able to get that to
six five.
Speaker 1 (01:44:44):
Who knows what would have happened, just couldn't get it
over there. But I think I think you bring up
a great point. Yes, it's a one and two road
trip for the Badgers, but if you compare the losses
to BYU to start the road trip and now TCU
to end at the bas had punchback in this game
against TCU, not once, but twice. They responded yes, absolutely,
(01:45:06):
and that was the big improvement over the BYU loss.
You saw more of that get back attitude for Wisconsin
here today. More of our Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show
is coming up. This is Badger Basketball from lear Field.
Welcome back inside Jenny Craig Pavilion. On the campus of
the University of San Diego. Brian Butch and Chris Foster's
(01:45:28):
on the Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show, and we're happy
to be joined by Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard coach
seventy four to sixty three the final score for TCU today. However,
the Badgers came back really twice in that game, late
in the first half and late in the second half.
Were there any silver linings that you point to despite
the outcome here today?
Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
Well, I think you know, as I told the team,
life is always full of you get what you deserve,
and we did not deserve to win the game. So yeah,
it was great that we fought back, but it was
a lot of our undoings and lack of assertiveness and aggressiveness,
specifically early defensively, we did not set the tone. We
(01:46:10):
let TCU get into whatever they wanted, get comfortable we had.
We were jogging back at times in transition, we had
mismatches and not guarding the right guy. So just from
that standpoint, as much as we took a step forward yesterday,
I thought we took a step back today.
Speaker 1 (01:46:26):
And you know, we got we got a lot of
things to get.
Speaker 4 (01:46:29):
Better at but I'd like to have a lot of
things to get better at November and not play well
because we've got we've got a lot of coming starting
next week.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
You talk about defensively, that would be my first question
your coach. Just it looked like there was a lot
of switching and then at times lack of communication. At
times the two would go to one right and you
could see TCU getting that energy, you know, getting comfortable offensively.
Is that kind of what you were talking about as
far as defensively, just because you just haven't seen it
a whole lot.
Speaker 4 (01:46:55):
No, And we had miscommunications on some of those ghost
ball screens and slideouts and you know, two going with
the ball or nobody going with the ball. You know,
we just like I said, we we didn't put them
on their heels from the beginning. They they came at us,
and and I didn't like our you know, our ability
or inability to establish the paint, specifically defensively. I thought
(01:47:15):
they whenever they wanted they got something in the paint.
They were able to keep possessions alive and offensive rebounds.
And obviously the the obvious one is the turnovers. You know,
way too way too many turnovers, you know. So that's
those things. We'll look through the film and and pick
that apart. But I just the physicality and the aggressiveness
really on the defensive.
Speaker 1 (01:47:37):
End of the floor is what I was most disappointed with. Yeah,
they out scored thirty six twenty four points in the
paint you talked about early on the first two buckets
TC you had with lot of dunks right and finishes,
you know. Offensively, they did a really good job of
blitzing that ball screen or doubling that ball screening, which
you know I met your guards had to pull it
back out only ten assists though. All of that is
with that blitz, that's what they're trying to do, and
(01:47:58):
it you guys kind of fell into that, Yeah, we did.
We fell into over dribbling. We didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:48:02):
We didn't change and we didn't we didn't put pressure
on the rim.
Speaker 4 (01:48:04):
With our screeners. We didn't roll. You know, we were
dancing out of the ball screens. I didn't think we
were aggressive enough coming out of them and dive into
the rim on it. We put No, we had we
had didn't have a ball screen roll buck at all game.
So you know, so that's that's Obviously a credit to
TCU with what they what they were doing defensively, but
you have to put when a team is that aggressive
(01:48:26):
on the ball, you have to put pressure on the rim,
and we did not put enough pressure on the rim consistently.
Speaker 1 (01:48:32):
John Blackwell with thirty points a game high thirty points,
his second thirty point game of the season and the
first two games of his road trip hit His shot
just wasn't quite dropping in, either from the floor or
at the free throw line. How nice was it to
see him get things going again and knock down some shots,
especially early.
Speaker 4 (01:48:51):
Yeah, I mean, he's a he's a talented player, but
you know it. I I'd rather have him have three
and we win than him have thirty. I mean to see,
he's he's a townent player, and he was aggressive. He
was one of our guys that was was aggressive and
tried to turn some of that that aggressiveness from TCU
against him, and obviously attacking the paint and getting the
(01:49:12):
free throw line was important.
Speaker 3 (01:49:14):
Yeah, I think the biggest thing, you know, coaches, as
you talk about it, there's a lot of things you
don't want to be your best basketball team right now.
Right there's some great teaching points that they can take away,
and you got big tim play coming up. Obviously you
got you know, a Northwestern team Marquette in the Nebraska,
but the two big tim We know how tough this
league is, right and you can't drop one earlier that
you're not ready for. So there's a lot of great learning,
teaching and learning and teaching points available in this game.
(01:49:36):
And you've talked about a lot of those things. Yeah,
I think biggest thing is you've got to get a
little bit more from Nolan and from your bigs. They
got to put some pressure, they got to be assertive,
and you talked about the role in just some of
those options as well.
Speaker 1 (01:49:48):
So so coach, we appreciate your time, especially doing this
a great road trip either way, not the result that
we hope for today, but safe travels back home. We'll
catch up with you back in Madison. All right, Thanks guys,
Thanks coach. Badger head coach Greg Guard gracious to join
us here on the Badger postgame show. Our thanks to
Coach Guard
