Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, from Carver Hawkey Arena in Iowa City, alongside
Brian Butcher, engineer Dave mccannon, Taper mays back at the
network studio. This is matt Lebay. We welcome you to
Wisconsin basketball. Second half of conference playoff to a good
start for great Guards. Badgers two to zero in the
second half of this Big Ten regular season, eight and
four overall, Iowa Hawkeys trying to get rights. They're four

(00:23):
and seven in league play, thirteen and nine overall. Before
we get started, let's pause ten seconds for station identification
ten for an ID. This is Badger basketball from lear Field. Well,
it's not a sellout, but it's a pretty good crowd
here and then includes some Badger fans many make that
trip down here, and given Iowa's deep love and appreciation

(00:43):
of all things Wisconsin Badgers, they'd probably be a pretty
loud crowd here today. It's always the case with the
Badgers and Hawkeys hook up and Butch you mentioned the
Badgers playing well dominated Indiana had a really good second
half against Northwestern. Iowa was close the other night against Purdue.
They've lost five out of six or without their best

(01:04):
player in Owen Freeman, as we talked to the pregame.
Their ability to score always makes them dangerous, doesn't.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, yeah, I mean they're the best of the Big
Ten as far as what they're able to do and
how they're able to score the basketball. I mean, it's
just the way they play and they're gonna fill it
up now. Defensively, Wisconsin's been much much better, so look
to them to do that. But you can't get by
with the easy ones. You can't lose someone in transition,
you can't have a turnover and it's a light ball turnover,

(01:31):
and they build confidence. I think the biggest thing we
know Wisconsin shot the ball so well at the Cole
Center this year against Iowa.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
But what I thought was most.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Important is they didn't let Peyton Stanford get going at all.
They shut him down very early on and never let
him get comfortable. And I think that's the key for
this game is you can't let Josh Dix feel comfortable.
You can't let Peyton Stanford feel comfortable. They're gonna have
it the ultimate green light. They've always had the green light.
I don't know what, you know, greener than green or

(02:02):
or whatever, like, they're gonna get twenty plus shots up
because they just don't have enough guys there. That's what
that that's gonna be there formula. Dick's gonna have take
twenty plus. Sandford's gonna take twenty plus shots. How do
you guard those guys?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah? You mentioned it with Sanford. I don't know how
many times he has looked visibly frustrated, but he certainly
won that night, absolutely that night in Madison. And he's
just two good. He's a forty four percent plus three
point shooter. Or make that Sanford Actually this year I
beg the pardon. He's been down a little bit in
that mark. He's thirty five percent. The guy who's forty

(02:35):
four percent is Josh Dixon. Both of those guys, without hesitation,
will let it fly it maybe now more than ever
without question.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, you know they got neon green lights, you know
what I mean? Like I mean, it's just it's what.
It's what it's gonna be this game and the rest
of the season, Fiowa, that's what it's gonna be as well.
So how do you handle that this afternoon? It's crucial
in this game.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Heith Kimball, Thomas Nunyevs, and Steve mcjunk are your officials,
the Badgers and the Traveling Cardinal and the White Trim,
the Hawk guys and the whole home Gold with the
black trim. As we are about set to go Wisconsin
and Iowa, I'm the Carver Hawk guy Arena. They're at
halftime at the Breslian Center, by the way, and the

(03:18):
Oregon Ducks have hung fifty on Sparty through the first
twenty minutes, fifty to thirty six, Oregon leading at Michigan State.
The Spartan's nine and two and the Big Ten tied
for second with Michigan Producers and eleven and two. The
Badgers and the Bruins are at eight and four.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
And no Jeremy Fears in that game for Biskets State.
He's out with an illness. I think you see what
happens throughout this league. When your point guard isn't playing,
it's tough. But that's Misket State's gonna have their hands full.
And that's why you look at Wisconsin. They've had so
much success because they've had guys come in and really,
you know, control that point guard position. It's been by committee,
but man, they've been very good.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
At that second game for the Hawk guys without Owen.
That means Riley Mulvey gets the starting call again as
he did against the Purdue Boilermakers. As we are set
to go, Malvey and Stephen Crowe will jump center. As
the crowd settles in, there's a ready for some good
old fashioned Saturday afternoon Big Ten basketball. After today, the

(04:19):
Badgers will not play again until one week from today,
where they play Perdue down at Mackie Arena. The next
home game will be a week from Tuesday against the
Illinois Fighting A Linies. It's been a hectic stretch of
travel for the Badgers six of eight, and amongst his stretch,
six of eight conference games away from home. And as

(04:43):
soon as Noah Ego gives us the thumbs up, we'll
be ready to roll. Here right, man's got a lot
of cloud. Here we go, Crow and maulviy to jump center,
and the toss and tapple belong to Wisconsin. From our
manage point by the Badger's bench, Wisconsin moves to our
left and we are underway. Well to the front court.
Iowa man to manage mix things up on the defensive end.

(05:04):
Blackwell high and the right is by Josh Dix now
hits the Brakes, throws to Winter, turns it to Tanjay
and the left wing say do Treyorri is on Tanjay
now kraw gives it up to klesbt shot block at
ten Pleasbant slips at the crowd doubled and a pass
goes through tanj blackwells there five to shoot. John'll take
the three left side and he'll hit it a three
for Blackwell to open up the scory. Iowa moving to

(05:27):
our right. Druth Elwell transfer out of Morehead state Waidewell
against the Badgers in January, it's a little bump from
Mulvey top of the circle. Long two is in the
air front rim no rebound Blackwell for a Wisconsin opening
minute three nothing the Badger's Blackwell out between the arcs
throws the Winter wraps at the Tanjay dribbles baseline right,
goes through the lane and stepped out of bounds step

(05:51):
kind of squeeze through a pretty tight window there along
the baseline and he stepped on it.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
And realistically it should have been back to back turnovers
for Wiscon. So they got away with that ft possession
against most teams that passed by Big Steve is gonna
be a turnover.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Gets I make it away with it, And you're right.
It took forever it was going through traffic to get
the blackwell. Here's Treori baseline left, polls pops ten feet
away off the rim. No good rebound knocked out of bounds.
It will belong to Iowa. They'll say, is Crow and Moulvie.
We're battling for it. If they'll say last touch by Stevie.

(06:25):
Minute eleven into the game, it is three nothing Wisconsin,
say do Traori. We'll inbound it with Nolan Winter in
his face into Peyton Sandford backing on Max Klesman. Sandford
out top now for Treyory top of the circle. One
dribble flips to Drew Felwell, fell well off the Molevie screen,

(06:45):
the well left, that line extended, skips at the Trayori
dribbles off the right wing of the lane, ten foot
in the paint, clanked off the rim. No good crowd
the rebound out let the blackwell, right side of the
front court. Minute and a half in, Backers lead three
to nothing. Nolan Winter out to Stevie open three straight
away and it's a round and out. No good Josh Dix,
the rebound for Iowa. Maakes had twenty seven against Purdue

(07:06):
earlier this week. He's up top. He'll try his first
three today. He'll knock it down.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
And there's a lot of communication and transition, even though
I play won't show up.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
It's a transition bucket and was.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
A transition bucket tied to him Yep, tied to three.
About two minutes into the game, Dolan Winter outside left.
He'll toss at the crow high on the right, gets
at the Klesman along the right sideline back to Stevie,
gets doubled, finds Tanja can't control a turnover. Wisconsin. Here
comes Peyton. Samford wins the Felwell perhaps a traory baseline

(07:37):
left got caught up in the air and try to
get it out to Samford. It's deflect it out of
bounds by John Blackwell.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
An offensively sloppy start for the Badgers.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Two turnovers early. It seems to be the early in
the game is when the Badgers are most prone to turnovers.
It seems like we have seen that a fair amount
this season. Drew Felwell out front against John Tanja, throwing
a moulvie left of the circle. Malvey picks up the
dribble eight to shoot. Now Josh Dix left out on
extended fade away back when no good tray or the

(08:09):
offensive readoun dell Well open for three and he hits
it from up top. Second chance bucket for the Hawkeyes
six to three Iowa two forty five gone by Doland
wins are outside right clips to Tanjay on the right
wing left ham pass for Krow between the circles. Arter
Gilmour will check in next whistle winter between the Yarks.

(08:31):
Now it's Blackwell baseline right, mid range jumper, short rebound
Peyton Sanford of Iowa. Three minutes in six three the Hawkeyes.
Sanford weaving stops left elbow, pivots nothing inside, gives it
up the Fellwell between the circles using a Molvy screen
little hedge from Krow. Now Sandford d three left side
and that's a brick wide left, but.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
He's gonna take that.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Have to be ready on the close outs even, I mean,
wherever he's at, you have to find them.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
He's John Blackwell for Wisconsin. Bounce past the Krow right
of the lane, backing on Malby. The double from Troyori
Crow retreats and Trayori knocked it away and out of downs.
Carter gil Moore and Kabari McGee will check in four
Wisconsin and prow will sit down, as will John Blackwell.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
And you need Carter to Kamaran right now because energy
wise it's just lacking right now for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
So hopefully these guys give them a little bit of
a jolt.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Fifteen on the shot clock. Klesbon Of inbound near their
right corner along the sideline, mooved it into Tanjay feeds.
Gilmore rotates to McGee high on the left ten of
the shot clock. Winter throws the max open three right wing,
left side iron and out no good samfort the rebound
for the Hawkeyes. Here comes say do Trey Ory to
the free throw line. Right lane line stops up shore

(09:44):
jumper guild Man. It's eight to three Iowa, not quite
four minutes into the game. Pleasband outside right feeds. Carter
Gilmore wraps at the Tanjay outside left. Tanja takes it
off the wing going to the goal. The layup is
good for John Tanjay.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
I was just thinking of just they continue to attack
the paint.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
How many paint touches were there?

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Not a lot.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
There's a lot of threes, and I know what Scott's wants.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
To do it.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
But getting the paint's good.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
There's still well He'll throw to Trayory near the right corner,
operates against Carter Gilmore. Now a step back jump is
no good from fifteen feet away. Gilmour the rebound for
Wisconsin fifteen forty left, first half eighty five Iowa. Klesband
outside left. He'll pop it to Camari McGee. They worked
at Gilmore rotates Tanjay on the right side. Tonjay a
step back three right of the circle and a snoga.

(10:30):
The rebound to Treori.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Getting to the paint is good offensive because you kind
of gets on with her spread out to turn that corner.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
You would think they could a ton here in this
game if they give themselves a chance to do that.
Peyton Sanford throwing the Traiory at the free throw line
fifteen to shoot multi a hand off. The Dick squares
up lips a three hits a three for the right lane.
Josh HiT's a couple of hits from distance eleven five Iowa.
You're five minutes in. Calamari McGee high on the left
four Wisconsin, and it away. A pass goes into the

(11:01):
hands of Riley Mulvey. Another Wisconsin turnover. Troyori at the
top gives it the Josh Dix high on the left
quick cloths for McGee dicks around a movie's screen right
of the lane, kills the dribble, feeds Peyton Samford leaning
in fourteen footer off ring an out no Good. Tonj
clears for Wisconsin fourteen thirty eight left and a half
six point lead. Iowa klesmen open for three, and in

(11:23):
transition he drills the triple. It's eleven eight the hawk
eyes five and a half minutes into the game. Ruth
fell Well high on the right for Iowa. Left hand
hip high dribble takes the top of the circle. He'll
throw to Sanford, dries off the right wing out the
fell Well long three left of the circle, back on
no good rebound. Nolan Winter for Wisconsin, and here comes

(11:43):
TONJ for the Badgers. Eleven eight Iowa fourteen ten left
to the half. Winter rose to McGee on the right side.
Kamari feeds Gilmore left of the circle. He'll hoist up
at three. He'll splash it Carter Gilmore with a triple
or tied at eleven. The man is hot. That's the
definition pot Absolutely, He's six of his last nine from

(12:04):
the three point line. Carter Gilmore, who is on a
little heater these this last week. Here's Peyton Stamford left
of the circle out the fellwell between the arcs feeding
Josh Dix high and the right tightly defended by Kamari McGee.
Now Dick's open steps back. You'll watch a three left
side iron knows whistle inside and a foul is called here.

(12:26):
This will be against Wisconsin is We'll get John Tanjay
there and that'll be his first foul as we hit
our first beat to sign out. Today's game brought to

thirty four left in the first half. Wisconsin and Iowa
tied at eleven. This is Badger basketball from lear Field
Prebuilding Corps built McBride before. The shamrock is a wide
explored Cleary Building dot Com today. Tied at eleven early
on mbous pass elijih Denbelly who is in for the

(13:07):
first time. Max on crowd left shoulder turned and lost
the handle as he was going up for the little
half hook and it's short by about three feet. Here
comes Carter Gilmore throwing the Max Klusman on the right side.
Price Sandford in the game. Pull the Hawkeyes right now
as well. Fran McCaffrey getting into his bench. Thirteen to
fifteen left and a half tide at eleven plus been
high in the right. Price Samford defending Max driddles off

(13:28):
the right wing a bump, he'll play through it. Left
lane line fadeaway is wide right, no good and Peyton
Sandford the rebound and trying to tie him up and
getting the cheap bowl. There is Steven Krow that'll be
his first.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
And that's a tough fights.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Nothing you can do.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
It just happens.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
You're both going for the ball and Peyton has that
ball and Steve's in there and the bad luck is
what that one.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Is his first team's second Drew Felwell high on the right,
hands off the dis you'll get at the price Sandford,
Peyton's little brother between the circles, A screen from Den
Belly and now crowd gets Ike Sandford on the switch,
stopping the dribble of the right wing. Then bell A
high on the right throwing the fell Well between the circles.
You to get them bell A screen going to work
driving the right lane line pushed it up nest, but

(14:10):
a foul. I think they're gonna get Carter Gilmore here
as Stilwell went on the attack. That'll be the first
on Cutter and the third on Wisconsin. The Hawk guys
have really scuffled as a team at the free throw line.
Felwell is sixty six percent as a team, there's sixty
eight percent Big Ten play next to last in the conference.

(14:33):
Fallwell averaging ten and a half points a game, and
he is good with the first free throw. Jack JANICKI
will check in for Max Klesman. Hawkey's lead twelve eleven
with twelve forty four left in the half. Second free
throw for Theelwell is good. Like I said, they're a
great free throw should be team. The numbers were lying.

(14:56):
Fell Well is out. Rock Harding is in six foot
sophomore bowling in Illinois, that's predictable, is yeah, absolute gold
weather and winter up here. And they get a little
trap on Blackwell and they force the turnover Price Samford,
the Dix back to Price Samford to the rim to
lay up is good.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
And that's what you can't have rights. And that's what
I was gonna do. Without owner Freeman, They're going to
try to do some different things.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Fifteen to eleven Iowa. Twelve twenty two left. In the
first half, John Blackwell bounces the crowd backing under belllet
the double from Josh Dix, crowd trying to muscle through it,
and he throws it away and the Price Samford, who
threw it away to Blackwell, feeds crowd to the rim.
Layup is good, so they trade turnovers. Badgers get a
bucket out of it. Fifteen thirteen Iowa.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
That's why you don't save it underneath your own basket.
Then they fellas.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Here's lockharting outside left, throwing to Peyton Samper between the
circles defended by Jack Janicky, Peyton Stamford and the fallaway
fout line Jumper rattles through the first points for Peyton
Samford today seventeen thirteen Iowa. Eleven forty five left of

brings it up the middle full the Hawkeyes throws the
peyton Samford high on the left. Juke's right moves left,
fills the dribbles. He's guarded by crowd em Belle off
the left elbow, hands off the Josh Dix left that
line extended fadeaway jumper is Good. Dix with as here
in the first half. Nineteen thirteen, Iowa eleven fifteen left

(16:28):
in the first half. Blackwell high on the left, rocks
the dribble as Josh Dix defends a throw to Carter
Gilmore feeds Camari McGhee, who gets fouled by Brock Harding

Nineteen thirteen, Iowa eleven o eight left to the first
half Buttchy four Wisconsin turnovers here leading to five points

(17:34):
so far.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
I wrote down to the intact. I mean that's what
it is too.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
It's been the turnovers and it's led to eyewa to
get out kind of get going offensively as well.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Does that mean great minds think alike?

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Wow or minds? I mean, I don't know about great mind.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
John Blackwell had the crowd now Xavier Amos in the
game for the first time visit up the time Jay
left hand ribble, steps back. Took a look. Now, Crow
will let it fly left to the circle. Book it
Steven Krowe his first trip of the game of the
Badgers are within three.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Good shot, big fella.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yeah, of course. It is nineteen sixteen Iowa with ten
forty five left to the first half. Josh Dix out
front against Blackwell feeding brock harding high on the left
and the sophomore guard out front. He'll let it go
for three straight away plut the right side high are
no good, It'll go out of bounds to Wisconsin. Stevie
opened up the scoring against Indiana. Was there only points

(18:26):
of the game, but he started that flurry. He at
the first one. Nolan Winter hit the second. Thank goodness,
Brian Butch was working a TV game that day. I'd
have been bruising.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
You've been sore.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Here's Tanjay. He'll step back. He'll let it go for three.
Left side bounces in for him. Shooters bounced for Tanjay.
We're tied at nineteen.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
That's a season he's been happing then. That ball had
no business going in. But when you're having a season
like his, it's good up.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Sed O five left of the first half. Peyton Sanford
backing in on Jeniky mid post right, turns to the block,
goes up, throws off the glass and rim no good
rebounds even crow for the Badgers. Out let the Blackwell
to the front court. Comes John, He'll drive on Harding right,
Laneline goes to the goal, runs it up, got it.
It will count and a foul and one for John Blackwell.

(19:13):
Just going to work.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Taking into the cup. Well, it's being aggressive. Like I say,
it gets out. You can get to the paint. You
can get to the paint. And that's exactly what John
Blackwell does in that situation. Now, the reason he's able
to get the paint is John Tanji is on the wing,
the same side that he's attacked from. There's gonna be
a no help from John Tanja when you're starting making
shots like that, that's what it creates space.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Rock Harding the foul, Blackwell hits the free throw and
the Badgers are on a nine point run. They lead
it twenty two to nineteen eight. Ninety eight left to
the first half. Drew Felwell with the basketball for Iowa.
Harding now on the bench with those two fouls. Here's
Bryce Stanford driving left lane line kicks it out then belly.
He'll let it go for three straight on off the
rim and hand dog demp Belle. A shooter's bounced. It

(19:58):
doesn't shoot many ten for twenty five from the three
point line this season ever, tied at twenty two. Nine
twenty two left in the first half, John Tanjay whips
at the crow left of the lane. He'll find Blackwell
in the paint backing as John turns into Peyton Sandford
and a held ball arrowed to Iowa. He just turned

(20:19):
right into that, did Blackwell, as Sandford dropping down as
the second defender.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
But a yeah, as we've seen anytime the ball's going
into the paint or the low block, I was gonna collapse.
They're gonna try to get the ball out of there
and you know, force another play.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Nine thirteen left in the half, Badgers and Hawkeyes tied
at twenty two. Den Bella at the top of the circle,
a hand off to Dix. He'll feed Peyton Sanford left wing,
matched up with Max Klesman. Now it's den Belle flips
to Price Sandford out front, Price inside, then Belly wide
open low on the left. He'll catch him finish.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
It's just bad defense here by Wisconsin and Belly rolls
to the basket and there is nobody around him.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Forward twenty two Iowa. Here's Blackwell driving on Thelwell the
lane low on the left, miss the layup, then Belly
the rebound outlet to Peyton Sanford through the center circle
the front court comes Peyton Sandford. Now it's lojdm Belle
hands off the Sanford flips a three right of the circle,
air ball out of bounds to wisconsint Nolan Winter and
tomorrow McGee will come back in. Kroal sits down as

(21:21):
well Blackwell, so do Trayori in for the Hawkeys, replacing Sanford.
Eight thirty one left in the half, twenty four to
twenty two Iowa. Kamary McGee brings it up the floor
for Wisconsin. Scored nine points against Indiana on Tuesday, hitting
three threes pleasant left wing. Max Holds gets it to

(21:44):
Xavier aim As baseline left on Treyory reverse layup at
the bottom of the rim, got his own rebound, muscles
it up blocked by Treory. Here comes Fallwell the other
way for Iowa. Bounces Trayory barrels down the lane and
it just ripped away. A clean steal from Camari McGee
to rip the way right. Here's Winter throwing the Klesman
left side. Max goes into Nolan low and the left.

(22:06):
Pushed it up and around the room and d for Nolan.
Winter is first points today. They just got that side
pick and roll. They need to do that more often.
Side at twenty four, seven fifty left in the first half.
Josh Dix on the left hand dribble against the Gee
top of the circle, throwing the price. Sandford out front,
Amos defense Ryce Sandford bobs off at den belly screen
feeds Troiory bobbles it, gathers, throws it back to Sandford.

(22:27):
Christ Sandford now Fellwell baseline left, got by Bigee scooped
up right hand off to him. No good rebound back
tapped out the Fellwell. Second chance again for Iowa Dix
out front. Winter is checking him. Dix with the dribble,
driving down the lane, pushed it up and end. Pretty move.
Good work from Josh Dix. That's a really good move.
Hes ten twenty six twenty four Iowa seven thirteen left

(22:50):

barrels off the right wing in the lane and he
took an extra step turnover Wisconsin and that's six turnovers
down for the Badgers. As we have the under eight

kind of all we talked about earlier with six turnovers,
nine points off of those.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
I was trying to search for their all. I say search.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
They're really relying on two people and defensively needs to
be shifted over a little bit. Josh Dicks, we've seen
a lot we don't see. I would go a lot
of isolation we have seen. I would go a lot
of isolation now with Josh Dicks, especially.

Speaker 1 (29:45):

Price driving to the bucket and it lays it up

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Again, that won't show us a transition basket, but it
absolutely is.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
And it's thirty five thirty two Iowa with two forty

Speaker 2 (31:45):
All right now Wisconsin needs to locate Sanford, but not
Peyton right now.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Hawk guys one fifty left and the half tie at
thirty five fixed between the circles. Rows to Peyton, Sandford, Carter,
Kingsbury in the line. Now for Iowa. Here's Pryce Samford
left foul unextended throws to Bronze at the free throw line.
Back to the basket. Let's at the Dick shot clock

Stamford left. Quarter three is a round the room and

just the fourth on Ioway.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
They'd let them play it.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
I was gonna say, as far as a clean first
half for both teams, it really has.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
There hasn't been a heavy whistle. It's been physical.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
But four thousand Iowa three on Wisconsin, forty eight point
two left in the half. Blackwell baseline left Wi landbound

Speaker 3 (33:22):
That's the second time out from an in line out
of bounce, So.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
They were just wagh. There's totally out of sink there,
players talking to each other there. So yeah, they burned
two of them here with forty eight point two seconds
left in the first half, thirty seven thirty five Iowa.
That was like a baseball fly ball. I got it,
you take it. No one was moving and.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That's where the ball drops.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, And when we talked about kind of lethargic, I
would say, on nowon's tip, and you've kind of seen
that a little bit from this team.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
They got a few of these on the horizon in
actually on next Saturday. That's a noon tips Central. They
got a home game against Oregon in a couple of weeks.
That's an eleven AM tip. So I get the blood
going a little earlier. Here's here's John Blackwell baseline left

(34:18):
Looten in bounced to Tan Jay jn Jay Hi and
left it bles to the foul line, kicks it out
the blackwell fifteen to shoot, forty three to play. You're
in the first half, thirty seven thirty five iowak Well,
it's a high screen from crowd driving right of the lane,
stops the block. He's in some trouble. Bounces the crowd
out to John for three and the lead off the
rim though tip tuck Xavier amos Oh. He goes up

(34:40):
and spikes it with a right hand to whoa hello.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
I want to say this, it was a heck of
a doug, but I think he used a little bit
of leverage there as well.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
I'm not taking any away from but this thing looks
awkward as could be. At first he went up and
got that thing. Mike Goodness and Praan.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
McCaffrey taking his user or losing time out. Twenty seven
point five left in the half. Wisconsin and Iowa tie.
That's thirty seven first points for Xavier Aimus here today.
You know the Badgers when they're protecting the ball, they're
shooting nearly forty seven percent from the field and seven
to seventeen from three, but six turnovers have resulted in

(35:24):
nine points for Iowa. Haw Guy's also with an edge
and second chance points. It's seven to two shot clock
is off and the Badgers have fouls to give here
and just just so you know, thirty seven thirty seven
to score three fouls to give here for Wisconsins, say

(35:48):
du Treiori sideline right front court, malinbau Treyori loops it
into Josh Dix against Kamari McGee.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Dude fALS given if they need it, yep, Dick's edge of.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
The center circle. Fourteen seconds left in the half, Dicks
hands off to Pryce Sandford. They leave it the Peyton
Sandford read. Game continues and there's a foul. They'll get Blackwell.
That'll be his first team's fourth eight point six seconds
left in the half. They will do this one more
time absolutely. Pryce Sandford sideline left's front court will inbound

(36:26):
John Blackwell in his face. Tied at thirty seven, Bryce Sandford,
looking looking, throws it into Josh Dix and he gets
fouled by McGee. With seven point four left in the half,
team found number five the first on Camari, so still
one more to give as Jack Janicky will be coming

(36:48):
in for Steven Crowe prow with a foul already Janicky
does not have one. Just got to be careful here,
Bryce Sandford sideline left inbounds to Dix and now reaching
in is Gilmore. That's going to be the second one,
Carter and the sixth on Wisconcert with five point nine left.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
In the half and Greg was kind of looking at
a car like, no, not there, you want one there well,
and there was there wasn't.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
A neat to No, he was going where you side
to side.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
You weren't beat none of the above Peyton.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Or Price Stanford rather sideline right in bound to bronze
out the Price Sandford left wing jumper in the air
and good. And that's how the first half will in
is Price Sandford with eleven first half points to lead
the scoring for Iowa, which we'll go into the locker
room with a two point lead.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
And we talked about it. Says it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
It wasn't Peyton Sandford you need to worry about It
was a Price And that's exactly how the game the
first half ended.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Excuse me. Our score at the half Iowa thirty nine,
Wisconsin thirty seven. We're back with a halftime report presented
by Culver's, which is a Badger of basketball from lear Field.
We you're ready for the start of the second half.
We're leading Wisconsin thirty nine to thirty seven. The Badgers
will go six turn turnovers in the first half, four
of them coming very early in this game. But you

(38:09):
when they're protecting the ball, they're knocking down shots. Now,
as you mentioned a couple of times, because you got them,
maybe you have to mention it a third time. You
got to find Price Stamford.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Well you have.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
I mean, he's playing really well and he's got comfortable,
got to the rim, so you got to find him.
As far as Peyton Sanford, you're doing a good job
against him. So I think understanding playing is five. Sometimes
when you're so focused on one player or two players
like Josh Dix and Peyton Sandford, and now all of
a sudden you loosen up a little bit on some

(38:40):
of the others and that's what you're seeing. But we
talked about the sixth turn for me, the glaring number
more than the turnovers, because we've talked it up about that.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
We haven't talked about the offensive rebounds.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
There's five full trial, Yeah, I mean that that to
me is a number that shouldn't have it because again,
no Owen Freeman, where is the offensive rebounds coming from?
So you got to make sure you find a body,
and especially because some of them are long rebounds just
by based on.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
The way that they play. Yeah, you look at their
their numbers in the Big ten, they're overall rebounding numbers,
they're minus.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Eighth, correct, I mean, and that's normally what happens. So
for them to be up one in the rebounding category,
it is an issue that I look at and say, Okay,
that's got to be fixed. And especially the five offensive rebounds.
Between the six turnovers five offensive rebounds, it's eleven possessions.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
Yeah, and the points off of that combined to.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Six year, right, you know, and there was nine and
a half. Now it's sixteen. Like it's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
All right, You're ready for the second half. Badgers trying
to get this regular season sweep and they're dominating offensive
performance against the Hawkeys in Madison thirty nine thirty seven, Iowa.
Second half about to begin. Badgers will move to our
rights in the original starting five both sides here and

(39:57):
for Wisconsin that means Nolan went to inbounds to John
black Well. You got Krowd, Tanjay and Klesman rounding out
the five. As we're underway. Nolan Winter throwing at Tanjay
in the right wing, loots at the Krow right of
the key. The doubles team with Peyton Sanford and Riley Mulvey.
Klesman wraps it left corner. Winter tries a three. Mister
short got his own rebound. He followed his miss, and

(40:18):
they'll try again. Tonjdep three straight away in and out.
No good the rebound tap that abounds, It will belong
to Iowa and the Hawk guys will move to our
left here in the second half, leading by two as
Drew Felwell brings it up the floor for the Hawkeyes.
Opening minute of this second half, Josh Dix out front

(40:40):
the screen for Molviy Dick's weaving to the free throw line.
Jumper away over Kraw, no good rebound. Nolan Winter for
Wisconsin a head. It goes to Blackwell, John up the
middle front court, Looten inside, crowd catches Low in the
left one. Pump takes a bright, got fouled. He big
Stevie getting deep and he'll go to the free throw line.
Josh Dix with the foul his first well and it starts.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Early, running the paint hard bearing the defender. I would
had the switch on it because of that. Steve just
stayed there and demanded the ball.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Five points of the first half for Krow and he
knocks down the first free throw better than eighty two
percent for the foul line as Stevie Badgers remained best
in the nation at the free throw line, eighty four
percent coming in. Free throws were at a minimum both
sides in the first half. Second free throw for Crowd
knocks it straight through. We're tied at thirty nine, fifty
seconds gone by second half. Druth Felwell's circles out top,

(41:36):
going to trade du Saori. He'll try a three and
it's good, say to Trayori for his sixth triple of
the season, and I will leaves forty two to thirty nine.
Tanjay outside right, throwing to Max Klesban top of the circle,
flips to Nolan Winters, sends to Blackwell John the left side,

(41:56):
a toss for Crowd back to John left side and
the up or away no good. Nolan Winter the rebound
Plesbant turns to tan Jay right corner three, that's in
and out. No good rebound Drew Felwell of Iowa, and
he's pushing it up the floor. Fell Well to the
line of the euro step put it up right hand
glass and rim. No good. The rebound cleared away by
Nolan Winter. Minute and a half gone by second half

(42:17):
forty two to thirty nine. Iowa. Blackwell feeds Winter outside
left is Max klesban plesband against Thelwell, bounces the Winter bobbles,
gathers single coverage. Josh Dix backing, backing his Winter, turns
to the black up right hand, short rebound up, no
and it's knocked away out of bounds. It will belong

(42:39):
to Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
They'll say it's got much better on the glass right now.
Two minutes in they've been way more aggressive. Wisconsin has been.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Drew's five though, from the floor to start the second
half up where Stevie prow Free throws. It's been it
so far. About two minutes gone. Second half inbounds past
to Blackwell, gets a bump from Kraw throws to Stevie
up top, tries a three and it's off the rim.
No good, sayd Treyori. The rebound here comes Stellwell right

(43:09):
sideline to the front court right at Troy Ory top
of the circle. Another three in the air. That's no good.
The rebound of Krow outlet Tanjay John wants to push it.
Josh Dick's getting back defensively Ton Jay on the right wing.
Two twenty gone by second half forty two thirty nine. Iowa,
here's Blackwell to the line, down the lane to the
rim and then lay it up and end. It's strong

(43:30):
take from Blackwell, badgers within one fell Well the other
way on the right side, steps beyond the three point line,
finds a curling Josh Dix at the right lane line.
Now Moulvie hands off the Fellwell, scoots outside right, tosses
it to dis This is isolation right now. Man here
is Dix off the wing. Shot fake Crow holds his ground.

(43:51):
Fell Well high on the left. Fell Well against Nolan
Winter five to shoot fell Well driving lost it as
he went up. The ball flies. They're gonna say touched
by Wisconsin. So Iowa keeps it. You're two point nine
left in the first half, so sure I think I
would get break? Yeah, I was just lost by Felwell.
Geel Moore in for Nolan Winter two point five on

(44:14):
the shot clock. Fell Well baseline left looking and looking
and his past inbounds pass stolen by Blackwell. Dix is back.
Here comes John and he gets fouled by Josh Dick.
So it all worked out for Wisconsin. There was a
throwaway on the baseline out of bounds play and Josh
Dix picks up his second foul.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
You're three minutes into the second half and already two
fouls against Iowa.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
Blackwell baseline right will end bound. Blackwell looks lobs it
into Carter Gilmour in his past knocked away by Felwell
and out of bounds. Forty one Iowa Logie dem Belly

the circle. They go into Gilmour, loops it back out
front crow for three back iron, no good and bell
the rebound knocked out of mounds by Carter Gilmour. It'll

(45:23):
be Iowa ball. I would really love.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
To see Wisconsin just attack the paint a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
I know they want to shoot threes, but right now,
get to the buck because I was just you care.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
I agree, You're still well out front throwing the Peyton
Stamford on the left side, Nex Lesbion defends Samford, kills
the dribble, throws the dicks up top. Josh Dix puts
it on the deck and the mid range fade away
left to the lane. No good rebound cleared by kraw
Here comes Blackwell up the floor feeding Tanjay on the
left wing, throws her back out front. Stephen Krowe out high,

(45:57):
hands off the kleosbet acts off the Krow screen of
the right wing. Picked up the dribble. Max Pivots throws
it back out to Gilmore fourteen to shoot Gilmore driving
through the lane right to left left side of Tanjay
blows off the left wing, hanging up. Got it, thank you.
John Andre working off the wing. He has ten Badgers

(46:17):
lead forty three forty two. Here's Treyori on the right
side for the Hawkeyes, isolated on crowd. He's a Felwell
low on the left. Easy money for Drew Flwell. He
has seven forty four to forty three Iowa fifteen thirty
eight remaining. Here's Blackwell, he has lost his balance, got
away with a talk absolutely good. Here's Tanjay on the
left side, eyes the rim. He'll let it go and

(46:40):
that's short rebound tapped gathered by sa due Traiori outlet
to Peyton, Stamford to the right side. Samford to Trayori
out front, drives on crowd left of the lane. Ten
foot are good and you can't let him get going.
He has nine now, say dude, Trayori forty six forty
three Iowa fifteen to ten cleasanbit left side, throws to

turns the Max, tries to three left side. Book it.
We're tied at forty six klesmant with nine big shot there,

the second half has been right now. Both ways here,
just got to find some rhythm here and.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Iowa was shown a little press as Carter Gilmore kind
of get it in, lobs it into Blackwell and you'll
get it across half court. Jack Janicki, Kamarin McGee, Nolan
Winzer out there on the floor for Wisconsin. McGee outside right,
Rockharding defending it and they throw it in the Winter
side pick and roll at the rim. No good tipped up, No,
and the rebound comes down to Iowa. There's price Samford

(50:01):
eleven points of the first half. Treyory blows off the

I have an in transition now he's the lead forty eight,

throws to Winter, rotates to Jack Janicky on the left wing.

Speaker 2 (50:40):

a little too tight for the bounce pass and he
just knew Iowa is going to dig it out one
because I wasn't really playing any big So we can
just talk about the leverage of where that's at. It's
tough to dig that out and I would have a
bunch of smaller guys in there and close to the ball.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
Peyton Sandford makes the first free throw, just his third
point of the game. Crowl in for Nolan Winter. Sandford
pretty close to automatic at the free throw line, I
mean in that category along with Jordan Bohannon, who as
the all time free throw percentage director of the IOWA.
Sandford hits the second fifty to forty six. Iowa presses
back on for the Hawkeyes in bounds past to Blackwell,

(51:23):
Price Sandford defending, and the double from Troy ory Ay
loop it to McGee across the Gilmour now to Blackwell
out of the travel has a couple of them Badgers
have gotten away with in the second half. Blackwell throws
to Gilmour left side, McGee left corner. Janicky flips a three.
Got it. There were big three for Jack Janicky. As
the Badgers are within one thirteen to twenty eight remaining,

(51:45):
Price Sandford outside right man they try to shovel it
into Troy or it's kicked out of bounds by Kamari
McGee is. Max Klesbit will come in now Jack Janicky
hit a three, like at DH get your double and
go sit down for a little bit, a big time three.
Look it.

Speaker 3 (52:00):
I mean, it's a one point game.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
Now you're sitting there for and kind of felt like
I always had a little bit of momentum, and that
three stopped that.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
Tanjay in for Blackwell twenty three to shoot brock harding
and bounds to Peyton Stanford left of the lane, backing
on Klesman still backing, and now a little double from crowd.
Then belly open foul line jumper rattles out no good
plesbant the rebound and here comes Max up the floor
for Wisconsint mind Steven Krow thought about it, turned it down,

(52:28):
gives to John Tanjay on the left wing. I passed
for Gilboy. He tries to three and it hits off
the back rim. No good crowd the offensive rebound and
it's knocked away from behind of the shock by Peyton
Sanford out of bounds, and.

Speaker 3 (52:43):
I don't know how Steve didn't get fouled. In that position.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
Yeah, that the Badger bench kind of wondering. I was
waiting for Stevie to go to the foul line, but
it is just deflected out of mounds Kamari McGee and
bound to Max open for three straight away and it's
off the rim. No good, Peyton Sandford the rebound for
eye Iowa fifty to forty nine the Hawk guys and
over and back as the Sandford brothers just not in sync.

(53:07):
Price Sandford to Peyton Sandford.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
And now this was gonna happen, by the way, we're
gonna get in some sort of review. They're gonna talk
about it. Fran wanted to look at a look in
the elbow to the face.

Speaker 1 (53:21):
First, and yeah, they're not gonna look. No, that was
when like Peyton Sissons got discarded, absolutely, but this was not.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
Yeah, this has not been clean here the last two minutes,
this game, this half. I'll just say that.

Speaker 1 (53:38):
It's safe to say fifty to forty nine, Iowa twelve
fifty one remaining inbounds back court running it down as
Kamarie McGee and he'll bring it up for Wisconsin. McKee
high on the left, stops gribble outside right feeds Gilmore
darts a past the match right quarter three off the rim,
short rebound of Price Sandford, Oh Wisconsin, getting good looks,

(54:01):
just not knocking them down. Here's Peyton Sandford out high
Sandford high on the right. He's with Stephen Krow cross
court to Price Sandford outside left, he's with Klesman bounced
past Sadude Treyori moving in on McGee darts are pass
block Harding walking the ball, trying to juke move light
turn over, Iowa, just the sixth mistake, Lil hawkeyes here

(54:22):
this afternoon. Iowa. Fans going, will you missed too at
the other end? But you got that one? Tell the
works official fans always want to help as fifteen to
play fifty to forty nine Iowa. Here's Pleusband on the
right side. Max bounces the crowd low on the right.
Want of the duck blocked by Treyori. Comes down to

(54:43):
Peyton Sandford up the floor, finds Harding who skips at
Price Sandford for three left side clanked off the glass
and Rim got his own rebound shot blocked by crowd,
but a foul and we'll have the under twelve media
time out. Us Bank is a I'm out partner of
Wisconsin Athletics. Together, there's nothing as powerful as the power

(55:04):
of US US Bank equal housing lender. Remember FBI C
eleven fifty six remaining Iowa fifty, Wisconsin forty nine. This
is badger basketball from lear field, eleven minutes, fifty six
seconds remaining Iowa fifty Wisconsin forty nine. But you're using

(55:24):
the word clunky. Clanky might work too, But I mean
it's four of nineteen for Wisconsin for the field in
the second half, two of eleven from the three point line.
But now they say, keep you're open, keep shooting. Yes,
let it go.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
And I understand that that's why Wisconsin's, you know, sitting
there where they are on the season right now at
eighteen and five, like because they believe, you know, But
at some point I do want to.

Speaker 3 (55:50):
Still see them attack the go inside, yep.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
And it's it's it's mainly because we know what Iowa
is on the defensive side, and you keep a couple
balls and it's the party of the red seat. You
can get to the basket at nightfay you want. But
what Wisconsin's not doing offensively is moving it nearly enough.
The ball sticking Iowa's loaded up. Now all of a sudden,
those driving lanes aren't there. Get the ball movement, get

(56:15):
the paint. There's a reason you're not making your threes.
They're not coming from paint touches out, They're just coming
from you know, swing swing, swing, shot versus hit the paint.
Get the defense to clap collapse. Excuse me, now you
sprayed out. You get a better shot.

Speaker 1 (56:30):
Price Sandford, as sixty one percent free throw shooter, gets
two with the line. He's good with the first first
point of the second half. He had eleven in the
first or he's been a boost Sadu Treyorri has nine points,
six rebounds, and three assists for the Hawkeys. Second free
throw for Price, Sandford rattles out no good Tonjay the
rebound fifty one to forty nine. Iowa with eleven to

(56:53):
fifty remaining Tonjay outside left throws to Max right of
the center circles. It's a ice scream from krowd. I
throw to Stevie right of the lane, back out. The
Klusband at the top box puts it on the deck
left lane. Line lost his balance, walk to the ball,
turn over, Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
That's it's gonna say it's eight on that, but we've
seen a lot of traveling into this game. Yeah, both
team and both teams don't turn the ball over a lot.
That's the crazy thing right now when you look at
where they're at. Yeah, Wiscon's with eight, Iowa was six.
Both are right around that ten.

Speaker 1 (57:26):
Yeah, it's about what the average per game. Pleusban comes
out rock Harding to the front court, Aji Denbelly with
the high screen, Harding driving left laneline Pivots goes up
right hand danced off the rim, No good the rebounded
Tanjay with eleven twenty two to play, the lead is
two for the Hawkeyes, fifty one to forty nine. Tonji
with a high screen from crowd, drifts to the left side,
throws the Stevie out between the circles angles right, gives

(57:49):
to McGee. Kamari finds Gilmore, fakes the three Gilly in
the lane, slips it through Carter. Now tan Ja for
three right corner off the rim. No good, and crowd
got fouled on the rebound brock Harding got Yeah, that's
three on Harding and three on Iowa. Here in the
second half, Alder still cannot shoot straight here in the

(58:09):
second half of the play, drewth Fellwell is in for
harding Well eleven oh four, remaining fifty one to forty nine.
Iowa McGhee baseline right inbounds, gilliboy Low on the left
miss the chip, Be tried to tip it got fouled
by say, dude, Trey, or.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
It's gonna be I think it's gonna be in line
out of.

Speaker 1 (58:26):
Bound, Yep, it is yep, non shooting, which is the
right call.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
But Wisconsin executed an inline out of bounce. I mean
then that's the breaking news in this game right now,
which is great.

Speaker 1 (58:37):
But they've had to burn a couple of timeouts in
the first half because they couldn't get it to an
open man, and they had one earlier in this half.
Where was that?

Speaker 3 (58:44):
So now another in line out of bounds.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
Opportunity fourteen pounds on Iowa McGee inbounds to Todd Jay
outside right. Here's John starts to go hits the brakes, feeds.
Blackwell sends the Kraal at the top out the John
off the right wing. Blackwell, with a strong take, takes
it to the ramlay up is good much needed basket
because he attacked the basket tied at fifty one with
ten forty five remaining. Then Belly throws to tray Ory

(59:08):
high on the right. He's a for Peyton Sandford, he said,
Den Belly screen left of the lane, which the Traory
three in the air up top. That's off the rim.
No good which Syl Foul called as Price Sandford was
getting the rebound. He got tied up by Tanjay, grabbed
his jersey two on Tanjay three on Wisconsin here in
the second half, and now Josh Dix will come back

(59:31):
in for the Hawkeyes for Peyton Sandford, ten thirty five remaining.
Wisconsin and Iowa tied at fifty one. Fell Well baseline
left inbounding looking in a Price Sandford. He's along the
left baseline, throws at Den Belly, feeds Treory top of
the circle, drifting to the right, hands off to Josh Dix,

(59:51):
defended by John Blackwell. Dick's right of the circle looking
to go to work left hand ribble stops picked up
by Crown the switch and throw to Treory flipped three
right side, offer him no good rebound. Farewell took ross,
but he stepped on the baseline. Yep. Andrews get it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Back as I don't know how we get the ball.
I'll be honest, but that beats said. He steps out
and gets into Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
Thankful. All right, we'll putting on back court. Pressure Blackwell
for getting in the back court. He's got tray Ori
and Thelwell and his grill. They get it across half.
Pory pass deflected, gathered by Kamari McGee left. Quarter three
is good, the sweet spot for Kamari McGee and the
Badgers lead fifty four to fifty one, nine fifty four remaining.
Here's Pryce Sandford knocked away tan Jay ball on the floor.

(01:00:42):
Body's on the floor, big old pile, and they'll get
a held bull arrow two. Iowa Kamary McGee that left corner.
It's been yeah, better than fifty four percent from three

(01:01:02):
this season, coming into the game. As good as it
gets absolutely nineteen to shoot. Nine forty eight to play.
Badger's up three. Fell Well baseline left looks still looks,
gets it into Price Standford, Tanjay out on him. I
throw the fell Well left. Quarter three is off the rim.

(01:01:24):
No good Krawd the rebound for Wisconsint with nine to play,
the largest lead either team has had a six, So
that was Iowa who had it. Badger's biggest lead is three,
which is what they have right now. Crowd dribble, hand
off to McGee, comor right to the line and he
got bumped in the lane, throws it up. Well, they

(01:01:45):
get the continuation. No, I didn't think so. Badger Bench
was campaigning because that's why they make the big bucks. Yes,
but you were going to get that, you know. Well,
it is team found number five on Iowa. Then Belly
by the way, the foul his first personal Tamari McGee
bastline left in bouncing. Tanja shuffles off the left wing,

(01:02:08):
al finds Kamari outside right, fakes the three, puts it
on the deck in the lane, back out. The Gilmore
rotates Blackwell left wing. Three off the rimmen ind for
John Blackwell and it's fifty seven fifty one Wisconsin with
nine h seven remaining thru fell Well out high for
the Hawkeyes, throwing to Dix at the left points inside

(01:02:30):
feed Treyori catches backs on Blackwell in the lane and
runs into Tanjay gets it out. The fell Well bounces
the Josh Dix tries a three left side. Good they'll
bail out three right there from Josh Dix fifty seven
to fifty four, Wisconsert eight forty five remaining. Blackwell throwing
the Gilmour high on the right, feeding Kraal at the top,

(01:02:53):
wraps at the Tanja outside left. Tanjay looking to go
to work down the lane to the rim lay up. No,
but a foul and again the badger's attacking.

Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
He started exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Yes, there's no.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
There's no secret right now. If you attack, good things
are gonna happen. They're starting to do that, and then
that's when he gets some of that spray out three.
But you attack the basket, you're going to be able.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
To get what you want.

Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
Sadu troiory the foul, his second team's sixth with eight
thirty five remaining in John Tanjay, a ninety two percent
free throw shooter at the line for the first time today.
First free throw is short off the front rim Winter
and Klesband coming in. Krall and the gee will sit down.
Peyton Sandford in for Price Sandford fifty seven fifty four, Wisconsin,

(01:03:39):
with eight minutes and thirty five seconds remaining. Don Jay
with ten points today averages eighteen and a half. A
contest second free throw is straight through fifty eight to
fifty four Wisconsin, and here comes Drew Felwell full the
Hawk eyes seven points for him so far this afternoon.

(01:04:00):
He sets the floor against Tonjay Felwell throws to Dix
at the top against Blackwell, Josh Dix retreats shot Clockett thirteen,
Peyton Stamford for three, left side good his first bucket
of the second half. Fifty eight fifty seven Wisconsin eight
ten remaining John Blackwell out high, high screen, Nolan Winter.

(01:04:26):
Blackwell throws to Nolan wide open three right side off
the rennow the far god Yip, don't get Gilmour. That's
his third h Peyton Sandford hitting at three, getting the
crowd going. We have the underage media time out. For
comprehensive coverage of college basketball, Tune into sirius XM Big
ten Radio channel three seventy two in the car and

(01:04:48):
on the all new Serious XM app Get a free
trial at SiriusXM dot com slash Big ten Radio twenty
twenty five seven to fifty nine remaining Wisconsin fifty eight,
Iowa fifty seven. This is Madger basketball from lear Field
with more than thirteen hundred slot machines in a ninety
five percent average payout. Hoching Gaming Madison is your hometown.
Big win. Make a next guy out of winning one

(01:05:10):
at Ojung Gaming Madison seven fifty five to play Wisconsin
fifty eight, Iowa fifty seven. Rat Samford hitting at three
a moment ago, and they got the crowd going. He's
erupted on a couple of occasions in the second half
here at Carver Hawk. I had thirty in the second
half plus overtime against Nebraska twenty one and second half

(01:05:33):
points against Indiana.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
And only two of eight this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Now, Wisconsin's done a good job by staying connected, but
you can't give him any space.

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Here comes Drew Felwell for the Hawkeys met by John
tom Jay. Now Max Klesman him the right, then Belly
hands off the Fellwell again mis Peyton Stamford took a
look putting on the floor, stops at the free throw
line of pass goes through Felwell's hands. He gathers with
fifteen to shoot fell Well out front lading on plesband
will blow by shot blocked by Winsor, but they'll get
a goaltending.

Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
Now they will look at that and that's what this
rule is.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
So because you pull it on the floor, they'll review
it at the next media. Yeah, there's seventy third terrible rule. Yeah,
at seven thirty six remaining, they won't be able to
review it until the under four media time out. So
right now, it's fifty nine to fifty eight Iowa. The
Badger's back on offense. Blackwell throwing an Olan, Winter feeds

(01:06:28):
Klesband left side. They go into Kraw left of the lane.
A little double team. Now the Max feeds Blackwell out
high Tonjay with it to the line, down the lane
to the rim, does up that fouled Hotti's on the floor,
including Logi dembele as John Tanjay will go to the
free throw line.

Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
What do Wisconsin doing that possession? Attack attack.

Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
It's two on dem belly, team's seventh. This is a
shooting foul Tonjay will get a pair. There's seven twelve
to play in Iowa. Least fifty nine to fifty eight.
Don Jay split his free throws a moment ago he
has eleven points. Today there's free throw is good and

(01:07:14):
we're tied at fifty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
And I think until Iowa stops you from going to
the basket and it has to be the focus. Do
a little shot fake got to the room that.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
One second free throw is good for Tanjay and the
Badgers get the lead back sixty to fifty nine, seven
ten remaining. Here's still well to the front court, Tonjay
trying to stick with him, go Well high on the rights.
The Morehead State transfer feeding Peyton Stanford quick close by Klesbon.
Peyton Stanford ribbles to the left point twelve with the

(01:07:47):
shock clock a pass to Trey Orri driving on Winter
pushed it up around and out, no good rebound tipped
into the hands of John Tonjay six forty five to play.
Sixty to fifty nine. Wisconsin has been throwing to John Blackwell,
feeding Tanjay high on the right, throws to kraw which
the Blackwell outside rights. It's at the Klesmic Max drifting

(01:08:10):
out a feed for Tanjay with ten to shoot. Tanjay
baseline ride drives and he got a hip check by
dem Bella. That'll be his third team's eighth. A one
on one coming up for John Tanja and.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
That's where it was. Seventeen minutes left in the second half.
Iowa picked up two cheap foules. One was on a
turnover and they took one. They had two take foules. Well,
now that's where they're coming into play here. With six
twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
Left Tonja three of four at the foul line. He
averages six point three free throw attempts per game mentioned,
He's ninety two percent coming into this matchup. This is
a one in one for Tanja Eyes. The rim front
end is good and.

Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Back to back free throw attempts or you know, opportunity
to get to the free throw line by john tonjy.

Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
What is he doing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
He's getting to the basket.

Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
Sixty one fifty nine Wisconsin, six nine remaining Seking free
throw coming up with the grad transfer is straight through.
He's made five in a row. Now sixty two to
fifty nine Wisconsin with six and a half minutes remaining
in Iowa City, fell Well to the front court, hands
off to Dix, you'll feed Peyton. Sandford throws to Sadu

(01:09:18):
Treiorri at the left point, land Winter checking him. Now
it's Dix at the top of the circle. Dix against
Blackwell with twelve to shoot. Peyton Sandford high on the left,
long three on the way, Nope, rebound Blackwell for Wisconsin
six o five to play three point lead for the Badgers.
Man here comes Blackwell to the front court, screens from
Crawl and Winter. Blackwell left of the lane, throws to Winter.

(01:09:42):
Roland feeds Max Plesband on the right wing out the
crowd top of the circle, sends it back to Max
ten to shoot Pleasant dribbles off the right wing, darts
to Tanjay left quarter three. Yes, Sir John Tanja with
a big triple and at sixty five to fifty nine Wisconsin.
Fellwell quickly the other way drive the lane splits the
defenders lost it. Crowd is there. He tried to split

(01:10:03):
Winter and Krow and Felwell is down and hurts. Yeah, oh,
he is in a lot of pain right now. It's
kind of screened when he went to the floor, but
the athletic trainer out there to look at him. But man,
this and Iowa team already without Owen Freeman, and fell
Well is in a lot of pain. We have five

(01:10:25):
p thirty three remaining sixty five fifty nine Wisconsin. M
He tried to split, He tried to splitten he's it's
and then lost possession of the ball and went down hard, awkwardly.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
And I don't know if it's his knear visits ankle,
but I'll tell you one thing, and I know that it's.

Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
Not good five point thirty three to play sixty five
fifty nine with Wisconsin. Great guard, with his team in
the huddle right now and Fran McCaffrey's checking on his

(01:11:13):
injured guard. Fell Well now is up, but very little
way on that right leg as he is hopping on
his left leg into the locker room area for the Hawkeys.
And you're talking about it. There another key player for
this IYO, a team really terrific years at Moreheads State,

(01:11:36):
the winning his player in school history there and antingh
twenty five against Wisconsin in that January matchup. So Blockharting
is in. The Badgers have the ball up six with
five point thirty three remaining. Here comes Blackwell for Wisconsin.
As the Badgers get organized at the offensive end, Blackwell
throwing to Tanjay high on the left. Tanjay with a

(01:11:58):
stream from crowd three on the way for time, it's
off the rim, it out no good rebound. Tips Josh
Dix tight rope of that baseline, gathers and throws the
brock Harding Harden throws it out the dis on the
right side. Dix curls around at dem belly screen to
the free throw line, whips it to tray Ory baseline right,
stops upright hand, no good rebound Nolan Winter of Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
And if I'm Iowa, the shots gotta come from Dixer
Paid Stamford, Trey Ory, I know has been involved, but
I just you just it's got a come from those guys.

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Here's Blackwell spinning in the lane, and he walked with
the ball. He had it all set up, but he shuffled.
But now Price Sandford will come in for Trey or
he's yep, but I saw Price coming in shaw Man
sixty five fifty nine Wisconsin four fifty one remaining, and
al Carter Gilmour will come in for Dolan Winter. You're

(01:12:52):
doing the same thing right. Here comes Brock Harding for Iowa.
Harting outside right kills the dribble. Now it's Peyton Stamford
dribbling to the top of the circle. Tonjay defense a
flip to den bell A. Is it the Harding? Harding
baseline right whips at the Price Sanford top of the circle.

(01:13:13):
Price drives up left hand. Good good take for Price
Sandford sixty five sixty one Wisconsin, with Ford twenty five remaining.

Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
If here wiscons continue to put pressure on the.

Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Rick, there's black level the front courts, high screen from
Kraw a throwed at Gilmour between the Yarks, They'll pass
to Tanjay off the right wing. Tanjay retreats, feeds, kraw
stands at the Klusman about the Stevie skips it. Blackwell
extra pass Tnjay. He got boughted on the right wing
by Fingo Peyton Sandford as team found number nine. Another

(01:13:47):
one in one coming up for John Tonjay with four
h five to play.

Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
Well, what is John doing right The ball's moving, which helps,
but he is attacking closeouts. He's attacking closeouts and it's
getting him to the There's no secrets to what's happening
right now.

Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Well than one for Tanjay. He has eighteen points today.
Front end is good sixty six sixty one Wisconsin, four
to oh five remaining. Just so you know, the Badgers'
last two games down here at Carver Hawkey have gone
to overtime.

Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
Just saying so, if John Tanja keeps attacking close outs at.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Won't Yeah, I'm gonna tell you right there with you
second free throw is good for John Kamari McGee. We'll
check in for Max Klesban. Four oh five to play
sixty seven sixty one Wisconsin. Biggest lead either team has
had is six points today, lockharting Man a kick. You

(01:14:46):
gonna go inside as we'll have the under four media
time out. Three fifty nine to play Wisconsin sixty seven,
Iowa sixty one. Back in the moment. This is badger
basketball from lear feet. Got a pick. Today's Old Dominion
Best of the Game, brought to you by Old Dominion Freightline.
Old Dominion Freightline works hard to be the best of

(01:15:08):
the game and is proud to be the official freight
carrier of Wisconsin Athletics. Three minutes fifty nine seconds for
maining sixty seven to sixty one Wisconsin. Well, you mentioned it.
You need to get to the rim, butchy and John
Tanjay is doing just that.

Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
Well, he's doing that.

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
When you look at the second half, he's got the
free the line eight times seven of eighth in the freight.

Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
The line did not get there at all in the
first half.

Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
The amount of pressure that he's putting on the rim,
it's going to open up a spray out three pretty soon.
But continue to attack that rim and put pressure on there.
If you get to the call, if you get to
the free throw line at the way that he shoots
the ball, you're thrilled. Right, obviously we know ninety one
percent free throw shoot. He gets there, But if you

(01:15:54):
continue to put pressure on that rim, he's going to
be crucial.

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
During the media timeout, they review that goaltending call which stand,
so it does remain sixty seven sixty one. This Hunton
leading Iowa. There's the hawk. Eyes will be inbounding with
twenty four on the shock clock. Rock Harding baseline right.
We'll throw it in looking and still looking and it

(01:16:18):
will send it out between the arcs the Price Sandford
against Carter Gilmore now picked up by Crow off the
switch Price Samford goo goes off the right wing post
to Harding on the left side of jab step working
against john Ton Jay Rock Harding left and lane turns
up left hand and out. No good rebound taped the
Harding lower and the left not the way Gilmour loose
Peyton Sandford is there now, Price Samford to the line,

(01:16:39):
stops left lane line shoveled it inside to deb Belle
and Steven Crow rips it away, they get a help
ball arrow Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
First one on the floor usually wins. And that's exactly
what happened there. Steve Big Steve gets on the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
And truth Felwell is back into the game for Iowa.
Replaced brock harding about that and.

Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
If you're Wisconsin, you have to attack him. It's his ankle.
You can see him hopping on it right now.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
Three thirty five to play, sixty seven sixty one, Wisconsin.
Kamari McGhee against Stellwell backcourt pressure a thrown a Blackwell
across the mid stripe for Carter Gilmore. He'll bounce it
out to McGhee. Is Stellwell, well get your right ankle
defending screens from Gilmour and Crow. McGee dripped into the
right side. Tamari goes left side on the wing for Blackwell,

(01:17:31):
tries at three poun stop for him and out no good.
Hawkeys clear the rebound. Peyton Stamford up the floor three
to zero eight to play in a bump at a
foul and McGhee team's fifth his second three oh seven
remaining sixty seven sixty one Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
Yeah, this is really smart by Greg Guard.

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
This is really smart by Greg Guard because now you've
got Max Cousband, John Tanjay, and John Blackwall on the floor.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
Yeah, Max coming in for a Kamari McGee. Then Belly
outside right ribbles to the top of the circle, hands
off to Josh Dix. He'll turn at the price. Sandford
ribbles off the right wing and he got fouled by
Carter Gilmore. Those are tightening things up here. There's four
on Gilmore and the sixth on Wisconsin. Two point fifty

(01:18:24):
seven to play sixty seven sixty one Wisconsin. Fell Well
baseline rifle inbound into den Belly, He'll scoop it the
fell Well at the top of the circle. Tanjay defends
out the Price, Sanford starts to go, retreats above the
three point line. Gilmore defending Josh Dix with eight to shoot.

(01:18:44):
Dick's high and the right top of the circle. Long
three of the way is around the room and out
no good Tonjay the rebound with two thirty eight remaining
sixty seven sixty one Wisconsin, and.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
You've got to get John Blackwall in a ball screen
action with fell Wall.

Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
Guard of me.

Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
Just sleep find the action to get into it.

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Kraal throwing to Gilmore. I think Max Klesman now outside left,
Clesman out front beating Gilmore sends it back to Max
seven to shoot. Klesmand sizes it up. Blackwell with Ford
is shoot, John driving and the lad pushed it up.
No good and the riba.

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
Blackwell digs it.

Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
Out of there and a fowls called on Iowa. Oh
what work by Blackwell. Dem Belly called for the foul
and that's his fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
That's just a great individual work by John Blackwell. Now
the balls should have gotten to John Blackwall a lot
earlier in that possession, so we didn't have to go.
I mean it's that obvious. Yeah, yeah, right, Like whoever
Theelwell is guarding, you have to get him in the ball,
get him in the ballscreen action.

Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
That's team found number ten on Iowa two to eight
to play. Blackwell shoots two and he is good with
the first, and.

Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
I credit fell Weell for the effort. Like, I mean,
he's gotten this thing out, yep. But you can tell
he's playing on one but.

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
Sixty eight sixty one Wisconsin. Blackwell made the first free
throw and the second rolls off no good rebound of
Peyton Sandford. Here come the Hawkeyes down by seven with
two minutes to play, and Thelwell gets bumped out high.
Blackwell trying to work over the screen and he picks
up his second and a one in one now for

(01:20:24):
the Hawkeyes two o three to play, sixty eight sixty
one Wisconsin. Ohlwell just taking those deep breaths he is,
he is digging.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
I was gonna say, I get a kidding a bunch
of credit. But on this end, if you're Wisconsin, you
can run some action, but it's got to end with whoever.

Speaker 3 (01:20:42):
He's gone.

Speaker 1 (01:20:43):
One in one for Thelwell is good. Here's ten points now,
sixty eight sixty two Wisconsin. Both teams have two timeouts available.
Iowa has the possession. Arrow second free throw is good
for Thelwell. If your friend you got to sub about, that's.

Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
I know what it is.

Speaker 1 (01:21:00):
The offense, the defense map, Trayori is in. Felwell is
out five point lead Wisconsin two oh three remaining presses
on for the Hawkeyes. Proter Gilmore no one on him.
He'll throw it in, shuffles to his left, lifts it
into Max Pleasbant, Bryce Stamford out on him, and I
passed intended for Blackwell is kicked out of bounds by
Treyori one fifty nine remaining sixty eight sixty three Wisconsin

(01:21:30):
shot clock twenty six and bounds past the Tanjay. He'll
turn and go up the right side by to the
front court. He got bowled by Sam Payton, Samford and
John Tanjay will shoot too. Now, I don't know, I
have yes.

Speaker 2 (01:21:47):
The last three minutes of this game, the whistle's been
blowing different than the thirty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
Just yep, you are correct, John, Tom shoot. We were
talking to the first half and really we've been talking
the last few games where they've let guys.

Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Go yeah now question yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Now it's changed well, and for me it's changed because
the first thirty seven was called differently.

Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
The LUs I mean. Tanjay's seven of eight at the
foul line twenty points today. First free throw is good
sixty nine sixty three Wisconsin. LFL Well will come back
in for Treyorri As Fran McCaffery continues the game of
offense defense. Badgers are thirteen of sixteen at the foul
line this afternoon. Six point lead for the Badgers. Second

(01:22:32):
free throw Tanjay is good, seventy to sixty three Wisconsin,
and here comes Thelwell. One fifty five remaining. Bell Well
drives off the right wing to the rim, flipped up
left hand, No good, Blackwell the rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
He'll loop it right side for Max Klesban Max, he'll
break the midstripe. Guess Pryce. Stanford throws to Blackwell. Josh
Dix is up on him. Left sideline is Blackwell, the
year half court, thirteen of the shot clock. Blackwell high
on the left ten of the shot clock, high screen,
crowd than Belly hedging shot clock at seven. Blackwell to

(01:23:08):
the free throw line, turns, shoots Pitts shot Blackwell is
Wisconsin a nine point lead. I mean it's twenty to play,
still work to do. Here's still Well feeds Price. Sandford
starts to go, got fouled by Carter Gilmour along the
left baseline, and that'll wrap it up for Gilly today.
He'll finish with three points and four rebounds. The Maury

(01:23:31):
McGhee will come in one fifteen remaining, seventy two sixty
three Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
I'll tell you that last shot by Tom Blackwall was
something else though, yes it was, I mean it really was,
and it gave him a little bit of a breathing
room with a minute fifteen left.

Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
I think that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
Who Stephen Krowe has some blood just below his right knee,
Greg Gar getting the attention of Keith Kimball, so it
would work on Stevie With.

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
That last possession. It gave Wisconsin breathing room. I think
that's the thing. You looking at a seven point game
now goes to nine. You know, even if Iowa knocks
a couple three like you just you have that. But
I really have to give Wiscon's a whole bunch of
credit for continuing. And it started with John Toanja getting
to the basket. Threes weren't falling, yep, you know, you
were struggling to find that rhythm. You're still twelve to

(01:24:20):
thirty five, Like I just it just knowing win, I guess.
And that's the experience of John Toja, right, Like, that's
the experience.

Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
Excuse you ate?

Speaker 1 (01:24:30):
Yeah, twelve to thirty five, yeah, yep yeah. Pryce Sandford
at the free throw line is one of two today.
He has fourteen points eleven coming in the first half.
This here's a one in one front end backgrim no rebound.
Peyton Sandford. Now he's open he got the pass from Price,
shot up no good from three Dean Belly. They rebound

(01:24:51):
another chance. Pryce Sanmford off the right wing, goes to
the cup, layup, no rebound Blackwell two Hawkeyes to the floor.
Blackwell cross court Jay with a minute to play and
the Badgers lead seventy two to sixty three. Tan Jay
splits two Hawkeys a throat a Klesbant feeds Blackwell on
the left side. Blackwell with a past two Kamarian Bighee,

(01:25:12):
He'll take it inside out on the dribble and bodies
on the floor. They'll play on Max Klesmant. Once Kamari
back in the game, he's back in the floater. Left
of the lane is good. Hey, I do have a
nice dead and that is your game. Seventy four to
sixty three Wisconsin. Here's Peyton samfor to three clip the rim,
no out of bounds to Wisconsin with twenty nine point

(01:25:36):
four seconds remaining and the Badgers are up eleven.

Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
I mean a gutty, gutty performance wasn't always pretty, it
wasn't always perfect, but you find a way to get
it done.

Speaker 1 (01:25:46):
That's what great teams do. Tonja will bring it up
Iowa calls off the Dogs. Shot clock is off, no
need to do anything but burn off the remaining time,
and his boy, the Hawk guys without Owen Freeman, without
fell Well for a stretch. Fran McCaffrey's team try as
they might, but the Badgers will end up being a
little bit better today and will sweep the regular season series.

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
And it really came down to that second half and
understanding what needed to be done time, score situation well
wasn't working, and putting your head down and just getting
to the rim, and.

Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
The Badgers end up winning by eleven in a bit
of a deceiving final score. This game was tight throughout,
but the Badgers get the job done fourteen of seventeen
from the free throw line, getting a lot of that
work done at crutch time to get the win. And
they're now nine and four in Big Ten play.

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
And you look at fourteen free throw a tempts in
that second half, twelve to fourteen, and it's just understanding
what needed to be done five of eighteen to the
second half, from three to twelve to fourteen from the
free throw line and just putting pressure on the rim.

Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
John Tanjay nine to ten. He missed his first free throw,
made the next nine. Score Wisconsin seventy four, Iowa sixty three.
We're back with a Wisconsin Fort Dealers postgame show. This
is Badger Basketball from leer Field, Wisconsin, Fort Dealer's postgame
show as the Badger's defeat Iowa this afternoon seventy four
to sixty three. Joint court side by head coach Great

(01:27:16):
Garden Iking like attacking the rim and getting to the
foul line a lot with guys who know how to knock.

Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
It down there the old school basketball there when threes
aren't always going down.

Speaker 1 (01:27:24):
Listen to it the old fashioned way and actually pretty
good looks too.

Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:27:28):
We did, we did.

Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
It was just a matter of, you know, eventually and
we needed them to go down to get separation.

Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
They did.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
But but you look at your guys and having the
experience but understanding, hey, this isn't it. Put your head down,
get to the basket. That's what John did just to
kind of give you a little bit of a buffer, right,
and then you kind of you could feel everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
Breathe a little bit of at that point.

Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Right. Yeah, I mean, were you emphasized, Hey, I get
to rim a little bit more obviously emphasize the thing
we talked about at half.

Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
I had them tell me, as I always do, all
the things that what are you guys talking about? Because
I leave them talked for seven eight minutes before I
walk in, and then I listed him on the board.
And what they all really boiled down to compete compete.

Speaker 1 (01:28:06):
We weren't.

Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
Why run step for step with them, Let's compete, And
I said, that'll help your defense, it will help your offense.
You compete, the ball will go in. So I thought
we competed. We had more of an edge to us
in the second half.

Speaker 1 (01:28:17):
There's all kinds of things we could talk about here,
but everybody knows in this league how dangerous Peyton Sandford is.
He's really struggled. You guys really did.

Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Yeah, yes, I think it's the really good job by
a multitude of guys that were on him. You know,
he got one early where we made a mistake on
a screen, but you know, I thought other than that,
we were pretty well attached to him, and really, you know,
we're our bigs did a good job too of shocking
the ball screens and not letting the ball get downhill

(01:28:46):
where we had to rotate and create closeouts, and you
don't want to be in a closeout game with Iowa
the way they shoot it and move the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
So yeah, I mean defensively, I thought some good things.

Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
He was two for eleven the first one because we
went underneath the screen.

Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
That's why coaches right in front of me. It was
right here, Brian. That's why I'm laughing at I won't
even name who went under the screen, but.

Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
That, but but your attention that that's what makes his
team good because they can be coached and then they can.

Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
Carry that over throughout the game. And I think that's
the experience obviously.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
But your big guards were into him there for some
they were making them uncomfortable. And I think that's the
stuff that the signs of a really good team are there,
because you've got you know, just absolutely different ways we
can do it through the pipe paint and the actually
playing through Steve and drawing double teams and then playing
out of closeout.

Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
We did that, yeah, a little.

Speaker 4 (01:29:42):
Bit better in the second half than we did in
the first half. So yeah, I mean and Gilly again,
I know he didn't bang in threes, but I thought
he was important in terms of the glass and just
connecting us defensively, Jack Jenicky's.

Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Three was big. Yeah, I just thought it was a
little not a great.

Speaker 4 (01:29:59):
Matchup all the moving parts for Xavier for as much defensively,
you know, you just you have to have some experience
and mobility, and Gilly when they plus me when they smaller,
you know, more mobile and more experienced obviously helps us.

Speaker 1 (01:30:14):
All right, appreciate Let you get in the locker room
and talk to you guys. I will so bus ride back,
So congrats, it'll be good. Absolutely, all right, I appreciate
you guys. All right, all right, thank you, said coach.
Great guard joining us court side is the Badger's defeat
Iowa here this afternoon, seventy four to sixty three.
