Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave gasper Is on assignment in Arizona covering the Brewers.
Doug Russell with you here on thirteen ten WIBA as
the Badgers, they punched their ticket to the semi finals
of the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. They dominate UCLA
eighty six to seventy. Alongside is Nick Brusowitz. As always,
our phone lines are open to you at six eight
(00:20):
three two one thirteen ten. Again, that's six oh eight
three two one thirteen ten coming up. Nick Osen will
join us from twenty four to seven Sports. We'll also
hear from Kamara McGee, but Nick from the jump in
this one. This was, as I mentioned, the only word
is dominating from the three point line, and it led
to a near wire to wire dominating victory.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, Doug, we had the opportunity to almost share in
that first half together on camera while we're doing double
duty doing our other programming, and it felt like Wisconsin
couldn't miss, And frankly, it wasn't that far off from that,
right They twelve of nineteen in the first half from
deep From from that perspective, you're talking about an all
time half. The Badgers don't necessarily even have to score
(01:02):
within the point within the three point stripe.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
All they did in the first half was knockdown threes.
Never worry about anything else. And john Tonjay in particular
four to threes, four makes.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
It's just it.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
I cannot believe that what we saw in the first
half was something that we had been kind of taken
away from us in the last five games. Right, they
hadn't been making a lot of threes, and then they
just come back with an all time half.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
It was dominance, as you've highlighted.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Without a doubt, a sixteen point win. I don't know
that it felt like it was air quotes that close.
John Tonzi, as you mentioned, twenty six points, nine to
ten from the field, made all six of his three pointers.
John Blackwell eighteen points, four of eight from beyond the arc,
six of eleven shooting overall as well. And I know that,
Butchi talked about it what about three or four minutes ago.
(01:50):
The only real thing that you can pick on, and
it is something that's fair to pick on because there's
this adage in basketball, and maybe it's an adage in
all of sports that the best thing that a coach
can have is a victory. But also something that you
can use as a teachable moment in something to pick on,
and that's the Badgers just did not clean the glass
very well on defense. Twenty offensive rebounds for UCLA today.
(02:15):
That's going to need to be cleaned up from Michigan State.
We'll get to that coming up in just a few
minutes as well, because they had punched their ticket to
the semi finals as well. We've got a first caller
on the line at six oh eight three, two, one
thirteen ten. Is it Joe that's on the line?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Casey?
Speaker 5 (02:32):
All right, Joe, welcome into the.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
JK Security Solutions Basketball post game show.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
A couple comments, great game to watch, a lot of fun.
I just have to put out one negative. And I
want to see if anybody is on board with this.
Those referees with that thing with Winter and then with Tanjay.
I need to see Greg gard get mad, get a
technical himself, do something instead of always giving into the referees. Otherwise,
(02:59):
I was super happy be a great game, but I
don't know why Guard doesn't get a little more animated
with that stuff. What do you guys think of that?
I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Thanks for the called Joe, appreciate it. My thought on it, Nick,
is that live for another day, because you're going to
need the refs tomorrow against Michigan State, and you're already
up big. If this was a close game, Okay, I
see where Joe is coming from, but I don't need
Guard or any coach to lose his mind over what
(03:28):
you could construe as something that was maybe a little
bit TICKI tac that the referees took up maybe a
little bit too far. I love the nasty that I've
seen in Stephen Crawl the last couple of games, because
you're going to need that physicality moving forward. But it's
just one of those areas where, if you've been married
for any length of time life I have been, you
pick your battles, and that, just to me, wasn't the
(03:49):
battle to pick.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, And who's to say that Greg didn't say something
hyper critical to them or was in their ear right.
Just because he's not red in the face and throwing
a tantrum doesn't mean that he's not getting point across.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
And at the end of the day, you're right, Doug.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
If this was neck and neck, if these calls were
make or break, if John toaj were to have gotten
hurt right on that play where there was a hooking
hold and they were trying to determine one way or
the other if someone was out of bounds with it,
and they decided to keep the two common files.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Both guys were addressed to file.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Had Taj gotten hurt, had something extra happened, Yeah, absolutely,
you would have to have seen some sort of melt down,
some sort of reaction from Greg. But you're right when
you say that this game was already out of hand.
The Badgers were already well in command, and they do
need the Badgers. They Badgers need the officials to be
on their side tomorrow in a very important matchup, a
(04:40):
rematch after just about ten days between facing Michigan State
once again.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, and the Spartans are obviously a decent team. You see,
LA is a very good team. They'll be in the
NCAA tournament coming up as well. So when I look
at today's performance, if there's anything that gives me pause,
I already mentioned my negative, and Joe had his negative
about in his opinion, and everybody's opinion is valid, even
if I maybe don't share in that opinion. Still your opinion,
(05:07):
it's still valid would still love to hear it again,
the phone number six oh eight, three, two, one thirteen ten. Uh.
The batchers just have to do a better job on
the defensive glass. You can't give any opponent much less.
A good opponent today was a good opponent. Wisconsin just
shot the ball at almost a sixty percent clip from
beyond the arc, which you cannot count on that ever.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Again.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, but you can't give any team twenty offensive rebounds,
twenty second chance points, especially when you're in the month
of March.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Yeah, absolutely, Doug.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
And if I'm gonna look at this game and try
and be concerned right moving forward, like what would I
be worried about, It's the fact that they simply didn't
have to attack the basket today, that they didn't have
to run the play and address that portion of their
contest because simply they were just knocking down the shots.
They're open threes, they're making three. They weren't necessarily always open,
(06:01):
but they were heat checking and they were falling. They're
gonna have to be aggressive against a Michigan State team
tomorrow that wears the adown. They got ten guys on
the Spartan set play fourteen plus minutes. That just means
they're gonna be fresh when you're getting tired late in
the game. And the only way to stay in a
game like that is either do what they did today
and knock down three is at a historic clip which
(06:23):
you and I know very well may never happen again
or certainly will not happen again this season, and two
find a way to get to the bucket. And today
they didn't have to. Tomorrow, they're gonna have to prove
that they can do that, and they have in the past.
But Michigan State's a different beast. This is the UCLA
team that's very talented. Michigan State is as deep as
any team in the country with rock solid players.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Six eight three two one thirteen ten is the phone
number of Janek Security solutions from home theaters the smart
lighting to universal home control, go online to jksecurity dot com.
The Badgers with a dominating eighty six to seventy win
in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals against UCLA. The semi
finals are tomorrow. Will preview that coming up in just
(07:06):
a few minutes. It's against Michigan State. We can tell
you that also still to come. We'll hear Fromkamari McGee
and Nick Osen from twenty four to seven Sports as well.
Nick Bruswitz is alongside. I'm Doug Russell in for Dave Gasper,
who is on assignment. You're listening to the J and
K Security Solutions Basketball postgame Show on thirteen ten WIBA.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
I'm thirty five, remaining fourteen point lead for Wisconsin Winzer
throwing to Blackwell baseline left for Isison Clark. The first
layup is good. Blackwell is Wisconsin a sixteen point lead.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
He's so good at the rip and go, and that's
exactly what that was.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
There, two of John Blackwell's eighteen points as the Badgers
dominate UCLA eighty six to seventy and the quarterfinals of
the Big Ten Conference tournament in Indianapolis. Welcome back to
the jan K Security Solutions Basketball postgame Show. I'm Doug
russellin for Dave Gasper who is on assignment covering the
Brewers in Arizona. Nick Brusowitz is alongside as well. The
(08:04):
phone number six oh eight three two one thirteen ten.
The Michigan State Spartans coming up tomorrow. It is a
noon tip off an eleven am broadcast time right here,
on thirteen ten WIBA and all along the Badgers Sports Network.
And you know, as we were talking in the first
segment there, Nick, I mean Michigan State, they will provide
a formidable opponent, certainly for Wisconsin. But this is the
(08:26):
second straight season that the Badgers find themselves playing on
Saturday in Indy. And you know, this is a team
that hasn't had I think as much success in the
NC Doublea's as you perhaps would be led to believe
considering how much success they've had in the Big Ten tournament.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
And I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I mean, I think everyone has a different opinion about
the conference tournaments themselves. I mean, even Matt Lapey earlier
this week on our sister station ten seventy the Game,
admitted that he's not necessarily a huge fan of the
conference tournaments. But you know, this is a team that
at least is I look at the success that they
(09:08):
have in Indy, they're at least stealed for when that
competition does ramp up starting next week.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, that's what we talked about earlier today on the
Mike Heller Show over on our sister station ten to
seventy of the game. We said that you know, Tim
Allen in for Mike today, I talked about it. I said,
you're not seeing a lot of national tournament success for
the teams that are winning this tournament. You're seeing a
lot of one and dons or two and dons. Right,
Illinois did not make a long run last year. Purdue
(09:34):
had a historic loss in the first round of the
National tournament two years ago. You think of Iowa, they
won the Big Ten Tournament just a couple of years
ago with they had nineteen threes in a game that year,
and they lost in the first round of Richmond in
March madness.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Right.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
So there's a lot to be made of these conference
tournaments and the wear and tear, especially in this conference,
and how it translates to the national tournament.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
But you can't tell a you can't tell a team
to not win.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
And if the Badgers want to win, they're gonna go
out there and they're gonna try to win.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Oh, without without a doubt, you have to you play
to win, especially when the month of March rolls around.
And one of the things that I've seen the last
couple of games in Indianapolis is what I think they
had to do when they lost that clunker in the
regular season finale on Senior Day this past Sunday to
Penn State. That was a game that you know, I'm
(10:27):
not going to say you can't lose that game, but
it was the worst loss that the Badgers had the
entire season. Yeah, you don't necessarily want that going into
tournament time. But there's this adage in sports, and there
are different schools with thoughts on it that maybe an
embarrassing loss to a team that you should you know,
boat race and if you play with your foot a
(10:47):
little bit, as they say, if you don't come to
the arena prepared to you know, do your business, some
days you're gonna get bitten in the rear end. And
I think that's what happened perhaps to Wisconsin. I see
a focus team the last couple of games, first against
Northwestern and then today against the Bruins.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well, and you see a complete team, right. You see
Max Klesman back in action. He is a huge difference
maker for this group. Although he has not had a
good year by any means from deep his worst season
is a three point shooter. He is a both ends
to the court leader for this group, and without him,
they lost two of their final three in the regular season, right,
so they're gonna get an opportunity to face the Spartans
at full strength with Max Klesman. He was not available
(11:26):
for that game in East Lansing. He did not play
on Senior Day. So you have to really take into
account what they are with and without him this year.
And they are now undefeated since he's gotten back just
a couple of games, of course, yesterday and today, but
you see the difference that he makes. They couldn't make
a three when he was unavailable, and now they're making
thirty six ish percent yesterday north to thirty, which is
(11:48):
not special but better than what it had been. And
then today is eye popping sixty. They're about a forty
percent shooting from deep three team this season, and that
was with Klesman in the lineup.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
Without him, they were much worse.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
And Klesman today wasn't great from the field, one of
seven overall, one of three from beyond the arc, he
only scored three points.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
He hasn't been that good all year. It's just when
he's on the court, right, they play better.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Well, it's what my point was going to be was
about when you said that this team is a more
complete team, and when Klesmid is out there just allows
them to do I think a lot of different things. Today.
They didn't do a lot of different things. They just
did one thing really exceptionally. And when Tanji, you know,
goes off for twenty six, and when Blackwell goes off
for eighteen four of eight from beyond the arc for Blackwell,
(12:32):
and we all know that Tanji, you know, famously six
for six beyond the arc today as well. You don't
necessarily need those guys that have been a little bit
banged up. We mentioned Klezmant, but also Nolan Winter as well.
I mean he only showed up in the box score
for two points. He only shot the ball twice today
as well, did come down with eight rebounds, which was great.
You need that from your big man that's in there.
(12:53):
But you know, it just allows the guys that are
tasked with doing the heavy lifting offensively to go ahead
and do that. And I think that we saw a
lot of that. I mean, in the first media timeout,
Wisconsin was up twelve to eight. It was still relatively close,
but by the second media timeout, the under twelve with
eleven forty left to play, Wisconsin had already jumped out
to a twenty two to fourteen lead. There's a four
(13:14):
point play right in front of that media timeout, John
Tanzi with a three pointer, who's followed made the free throw,
and right before that to make it nineteen to eleven,
he made a three pointer. So John Tanji in the
span of you know about excuse me about forty seconds, Tanji,
you know, goes off for seven points, and that's when
the game really to me started to feel like, well,
(13:34):
if they can keep this up, this could be a
dominating performance.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Absolutely, Doug. It starts with Tanja. For this group, anytime.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
You look at them and they have their best performances
this year, you can circle John Tanjay and I can
almost guarantee you that he had a great game and
today was one of those days for him.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
Didn't miss from deep, six of six.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
As you've mentioned, they had three guys on this team
that went three or better from deep without a miss right,
three for three for Kraal, three for three Kamari McGee,
and six of six for John Toanjay. And you look
at Winter's Day and you say, yeah, not much of
an impact on the offensive end, as you mentioned, eight
rebounds and he's really had an emphasis on getting to
(14:12):
the boards. He had eight boards in sixteen minutes. Fouled
troubled today for him, But on the flip side, they'll
get Big Steve only one rebound, but at thirteen points, right,
So they're finding ways to compliment one another, whether you're
on the court for a ton of minutes or not.
And when you're hot from deep, you know well that
that Xavier Amis is going to enter the game.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
And chuck up some three on rechiefan.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Yeah, two of five, but he made about a twenty
five foot in the midst of what was their hottest
streak today. And this final score is a blowout, and
it's deceiving because they were up by twenty seven. They
were up eighty six fifty nine, and then they end
on an eleven zero run for UCLA.
Speaker 7 (14:51):
Well, the Badgers were kind of checking their guys out.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Like this is a blowout at sixteen points, and they
really were up by twenty seven while they were still
trying My.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Game notes, so I always write when it's garbage time,
because after garbage time nothing matters, at least the way
that I, you know, chart a game at garbage time
was at the last I'm sorry. The second to last
media timeout at six', ten it was seventy eight to fifty. Three,
oh that's more indicative to me of how close this
game Wasn't you look at a sixteen point deficit at
(15:22):
the end and it looks like IT'S i don't want
to say. Respectable it's still a. Blowout but this game
was A Again i've used the word. DOMINATING i THINK
i should put like a dollar every TIME i use
the word. Dominant and we'd go out for a nice
dinner afterwards as. Well but at garbage, time when the
game in my mind was over seventy eight to fifty,
three that's how this game went To. Wisconsin from home
security to, AUTOMATION Jak Security solutions as you, covered go
(15:45):
to jksecurity dot com for more. Information our phone number
is six oh eight three two one thirteen. Ten again

Rebound Carter gilmore out the McGee Now blackwell Feeds toanja wide,
open three. Measures it, takes it makes, it of course he.
Did it's that kind of day For John tojay and
The Wisconsin.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Badger John tanji on fire, today nine to ten overall
from the, field six of six from beyond the three point,
line twenty six points to lead all scores as The
badgers DOMINATE ucla eighty six to. Seventy welcome back to
the J K Security Solutions basketball Postgame. Show I'm Doug
russell in For Dave. Gasper he's In arizona on. Assignment
Nick bruswitz is alongside as. Well once, AGAIN i should
(16:58):
have stolen the bell from the other. Room but a
dominating thank. You oh there you. Go you've got a.
Bell perfect eighty six seventy win in The Big Ten
tournament semi. Finals Michigan state awaits The badgers tomorrow at
noon tip off right here on thirteen Ten wiba joining
us from twenty four to Seven sports welcome in Nick.
Osin NICK i said it a couple of minutes ago
(17:21):
before the, break When John tanji scores seven straight points
in about forty, seconds including a four point play leading
into the second media, TIMEOUT i got the sense that
this could be one of those special games that we
may be talking about for a. While AND i know
recncy bias is what recency, biases but this was a
pretty memorable overall.
Speaker 8 (17:41):
Contest, absolutely, Guys there's no question about, it you, Know,
DOUG i kind of felt the same way, early whether
it was someone we saw from tanj Or krawll's aggressiveness
or shooting three for three from three for him and
well over sixty percent for much of the team from.
Deep it was just a really impressive kind of time
(18:02):
and dominant statement overall is kind of WHAT i. Wrote
it felt Like i've gotten the sense that these guys
have been a little bit extra motivated really since That
Penn state. Game obviously getting everybody. BACK i think they
dug a lot of. Times in sports that type of
thing can be, cliche but being around the, TEAM i
actually do get that, sentence and just being in the
locker room a little bit, ago they're. Excited you, know
(18:23):
they're happy with how they played, today but far from,
perfect and they know that the job is not done
here In. Indianapolis SO i would agree a terrific. Showing
fun Since tanja and a lot of the, teams it's
still a little bit of waste to go as, Well.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Dick when we look at today's scoring output for The,
badgers it doesn't include a lot From Max, klesman but
you know how MUCH i was hammering on his importance
whether he's shooting it well or.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
Not and you see three points from him. Today but
pairing him.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
With the production Of Kabari mick, three that's What i'm
gonna call him. Today KAMARI mc three is so much
better as that bench.
Speaker 8 (18:59):
Guy you're exactly, Right, nick it was quite a showing From.
Komari i'll stick with McGee for, now but you're exactly.
Right and you KNOW i enjoyed speaking with him and
actually Just max a few minutes, ago because when McGee
is able to come off the bench in that role
like we touched on a little Bit, thursday he's just
(19:19):
able to kind of play a little bit more comfortably
as that, spark and then when he's kind of put,
in just surrounded by other starters or leading a, rotation
there are just more open looks for, him which obviously you.
Saw he has been really the king of the corner
triple this. YEAR i think you saw that, today and
then there's not so much pressure On MAX i think
to be that. Score now DO i expect Tan jay
(19:41):
to hit his first nine shots every? Game maybe, Not
but when he's playing like, THAT i Think crowell is
going to get lost a little bit in this. Game
BUT i thought that he was terrific from deep Obviously,
Blackwell so when it separates like, That plesnant basically just
has to be kind of that creator and good defender
too than McGee just runs that second unit kind of
(20:01):
the normal twenty two. Minutes gilmore got the same with.
Him but, OVERALL i love how this rotation is shaping up.
Here in Mid, March.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Nick osen from twenty four to Seven sports joining us
here on THE j AND K Security Solutions basketball postgame
SHOW ucla Twenty Offensive. Rebounds how, CONCERNING i don't. Know
maybe on a scale of one to, ten do you
see that for tomorrow Against Michigan.
Speaker 8 (20:25):
State, YEAH i think that if it felt like it
was really affecting the game a little bit, MORE i
definitely would have been. Concerned but it felt like a
couple of those team LATE ucla does have. SUICIDE i
want to say That mara had four or five of.
THOSE i believe that's what Coach guard mentioned in the postgame.
Presser and just knowing this team and the way that
(20:46):
they have attacked and, responded whether it be coming off
of the lots or just clear areas to clean, UP
i haven't seen a ton of repetition with that type of, Thing.
Doug so While Michigan state they are phenomenal on the,
glass And i'm not saying that it's going to be
Advantage wisconsin going. IN i wouldn't take today as a big.
Worry i'd maybe put that at a two and a
(21:06):
half or. THREE i think if it was a closer,
game maybe could have been a little bit more upboards
going The badger's. Way but, OVERALL i thought it was
a terrific showing and like you, mentioned they will have
to be ready against this impressive Mighty.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Spartans, Yeah, nick.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
That was the DIRECTION i was going to go and
start looking ahead a little bit till tomorrow tip off
at noon for The badgers taking On Michigan state for
the second time in under two. Weeks in the first go,
Round wisconsin simply could not shoot it from, deep AND
i don't expect to repeat from. TODAY i don't know
if that'll happen. Again maybe. EVER i, mean it was,
incredible but you look at what happened that first time,
(21:43):
around and it felt like the same recipe that has
Led Michigan state to their wins this season held true
against The, badgers which was close. Battle but their depth
and their endurance really makes a difference for The spartans
as the game goes. On so The badger's now at
full health an addition Of Max klesmidt to that rotation
from last time, around do you think they have the
(22:04):
depth to go toe for tow With Michigan?
Speaker 8 (22:07):
State nick without a. DOUBT i think If wisconsin loses this,
game AND i had a friend text me that it
was just like a point or two spread for, tomorrow
so obviously this is being looked at as a pretty even,
BATTLE i would tend to Agree wisconsin. LOSES i don't
think it'll come down to. DEPTH i think it would
maybe just be Because Michigan state is the top six
(22:28):
or seven team in the. Country but as we, know
and as You dave and myself have talked about often
throughout the, Year wisconsin's ceiling is at that. Level SO
i think there's a common ground in the middle ground.
Here WHILE i don't Expect wisconsin to probably shoot as
well from three tomorrow as they did, today it'll be
better than the game At East. Lansing you've Got Max,
pleasmant And i'm really intrigued to see kind of what
(22:50):
the fans showing is. LIKE i know That Michigan state
has shown up really well here so. FAR i expect
More badger fans to get down. Here this personally has
the feeld to me of another down to the wire,
performance AND i still go into. IT i Understand Jace
richardson is a is a lottery, pick AND i respect
the heck out Of Tom, izzo BUT i still believe
(23:10):
That wisconsin has the best college player in this, game
and maybe two out of the three best With Tom
jay And. Blackwell so to.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
That, POINT i mean Today wisconsin shot just under sixty
percent six zero percent from the three point line Against Michigan,
state and this was a close. GAME i, mean we
talked about how sometimes final scores aren't indicative of how
close or not close, games or this was a blowout,
Today but that game Against Michigan state wasn't a blowout
until the last minute and a half When Michigan state
(23:42):
scored nine straight points in a. Hiccup the final score
seventy one to sixty, two but it was close the whole.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Way wisconsin was.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
Five of thirty.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Two that's just under sixteen one six. Percent how well
real reasonably in your, opinion do you think that they
have to shoot tomorrow in order to have success against The.
Speaker 8 (24:00):
Spartans quite, HONESTLY i would even say low to mid,
thirties like kind of average or a little, bit you,
know kind of hovering around the team average that it's
been throughout most of the. Year we've seen obviously many higher.
Performances recently it's been a little bit lower than, that of,
course but it feels like. It wisconsin just plays kind
of their their average game and defends the way that
(24:23):
they have many of the last couple of. GAMES i
think that they were really terrific Against. Northwestern they were good.
Defensively today they led up a little bit at the,
end but obviously there were subs and things like. That
SO i think if those things can go hand in
hand and they can shoot even a shade over half
of how they did, Today, DOUG i Like wisconsin's. CHANCES
i said To nick And dave, YESTERDAY i Picked wisconsin
(24:45):
to win, today AND i, thought if they could get Past,
ucla they make it To. Sunday so obviously a huge opponent,
tomorrow BUT i love What i'm seeing from This badgers.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Group, nick last one for. YOU i often talk about.
This we opened our show with. This we considered what
The Big ten title really means in terms of the.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Tournament but now in.
Speaker 7 (25:05):
Recent, years the teams that have won The Big ten tournament.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Have it looked great In.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
March so how if The badgers do go down that,
path how do they avoid that slump opening The big
or excuse Me march?
Speaker 8 (25:17):
Badness, Yeah, NICK i JUST i feel like this team
is special in that they are just so, mature, unselfish
different than, others and some of the players themselves have
told me. That so that coupled with the coaching staff
that you, KNOW i think very highly of and it
feels Like Greg guard is really finding his sweet spot
(25:37):
right now with this. Group AND i would say several
of these last couple of, SEASONS i think it's just
sticking to what has worked, obviously getting enough, rest but
knowing these, guys you, know just being in the locker,
room being around them just about every game all, season
it's really not in THEIR, Dna nick to let up
at all this, weekend and then you just kind of
let the ships fall where they. May BUT i think
(25:57):
for this group playing, cohesively being healthy right now and
the potential to still jump up from WHAT i understand
the seed, LINE i think they've got to keep finding
success here AND i think right now things are looking pretty.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
HALF i bet you.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
Do tell us the feeling the way this game started
you guys are raining. Threes, Everybody tanjay all you guys going,
off did you just a special field those first couple
of minutes that this day was going to belong to?
Speaker 10 (27:53):
You, honestly we just we attacked this. Day you, know
we were waiting for it after we won. Yesterday you,
know we wanted to See ucla. Again so everybody was
just hype for this. Game like everybody in the locker.
Room you could just see it on everybody's faces that
this was a game that we wanted to come in and.
Take so and then we did.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
That, well what you.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Guys talked about is everyone's gonna talk about The may.
Threes nineteen of. Them you guys tie a big ten tournament.
Record but, defensively you guys were locked. In there were
red jerseys, everywhere especially when you on that second half Against.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Ucla there was.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
A lot of, space, right there's a lot of. Space
there wasn't a lot of. Space what was the biggest
adjustment this, Afternoon.
Speaker 10 (28:29):
Well just making sure that we were in our. Gaps you,
know like you, said when we watched the film from
the last, game it was a lot it was just.
Open like, guys good driving lane after driving lane after driving.
Lane but you know we really focused in on the,
gaps just being in the gap, hells making them throw the,
throwback making them find other, guards just because we knew
that they wanted to get into paint more than shoot
(28:50):
the Three.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
You guys have all throughout the, season you don't. PANIC
i mean you're up nineteen and a. Half they get
it to within. Twelve you know they're getting their free.
Throws you had like three or four reviews all, that no.
Panic this is where experience comes. In you think With,
kamari with you and your, guys like you've been around
the block a couple of. Times you know how to
handle it when it looks like it might get.
Speaker 10 (29:08):
Nice, honestly you can you can credit that to the,
experience or you can just credit to us having a
group of guys that's. Together you know we've been in
that position before and at times we fold. It so you,
know in the locker, ROOM i told the, guys, like
we can get in here at the half and say
say all these, words say, everything but it don't matter
if we don't do. It it don't matter if we
don't like have accent behind. It SO i just kept
(29:30):
preaching that to the guys like accent accent. Accent we
got to be about our. Words we can't just. Talk
we got to go out there and do, it and we.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Did how does a game like, this when you guys
shoot it so, well build that? Confidence not that you
guys are shooting at bad over the last couple you
know games were last, six but like there's been a
couple of struggle games bisch cans stay where you're just
like open.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Shots you just didn't make.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
It it. Happens but now you put one of these out
there and it's, like, okay let's rock and. Roll what
does that do for the confidence of that locker?
Speaker 10 (29:55):
Room it, Continded it builds that confidence even more than
it already, was because we, know like games That Michigan
state game that wasn't really, us but the ball isn't
always going to go and how we wanted. To so
we just got to keep that confidence in games like
this just help with, that you, know because we, know
like we are all great players who can shoot, it
and we just got to keep shooting the.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
Shots final, QUESTION i could damn anybody on this, roster
but how about number thirteen? Today save your? Name he's
pretty good.
Speaker 10 (30:17):
Today, yeah he was great. Today he was on my
on my case on the. Bench he was, like, yo
keep your hand in the game. Killing then he get
in there and go knock down two things right, away
AND i was, like, HEY i love that and, say,
yeah you hold me account of way you got you
go out there and do it.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
TOO i got one last for. You do you believe In?
JINXES i don't?
Speaker 6 (30:32):
Know thank?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
