Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's give it up for sharing man.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Good afternoon from the Cole Center in Madison, alongside Brian Butcher,
engineer Dave McCann, and Aishah Jackson at our network studio.
This is Matt Lepey. We welcome you to the Call
Center in Wisconsin. Basketball final home game for the Badgers
Big Ten regular season wraps up this afternoon. As the
thirteen and six Badgers twenty three and seven overall taken

(00:23):
on Penn State five and fourteen in the Big Ten
fifteen up, fifteen down. They will not be in next
week's Big Ten tournament. So this is it as far
as the Big Ten schedule is concerned for the Nitney Lyons.
And before we get started, let's pause ten seconds for
station identification. Ten for an ID. This is Badger basketball
from Learfield Senior Day. Is six seniors who have combined

(00:45):
to appear in five hundred and fifty six games in
their college careers, scoring exactly three thousand, five hundred fifty
eight points, not all of them in a Wisconsin uniform,
but a couple of them. Three of them have with
Marcus Silver, Stephen Kroud, Carter Gilmore is we've been talking
Brian throughout the course of this broadcast, of the course

(01:06):
of the season, this staff, this program has made it
work the changing times at college basketball. They have found
guys who have come in through the portal, newcomers as freshmen,
and they've all fit in and they have one goal
in mind, and that's to win as many games as possible. Well, yeah,
and that's what the group.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
The group bought in and now because of their buying,
they're sitting in a really good situation. You win, you
get a double buy, you get a double buye, you
got a good chance and making a deep run in
the Big Ten tournament. Then all of a sudden it
leads to that next weekend and you win here, you
maybe win one, maybe end up in Milwaukee, like all

(01:43):
that stuff. They know what's in front of them, they
know what needs to happen. The best part about right now,
we're about, you know, a minute away from tim The
best part is you're a minute away from tip. Everything
else can be removed, the emotions of senior day removed,
the emotions of having every all of your parents here,
people that yo are coming in, aunts, uncle, whatever it is,

(02:05):
it's gone in a minute. Now you can finally play
and as a player, this is this is your safe spot.
That court is your safe spot for whatever else is
going on. You finally get to get out here and
just play.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I want to be interested in Penn's day because this
is a team that the efficiency numbers aren't great, in fact,
they're not good correct Yet they're averaging overall nearly seventy
nine points per game. They're on a school record pace
for points per game overall. Now you take about six
points off of that in Big Ten play, but they
have guys who can get to the rim. You got
ace balls when it could be a problem at both

(02:39):
ends of the floor. Certainly was a problem for the
Badgers when they met last year in State College. A
talented team, but as we mentioned, Brian, they've got a
knack for losing close games, well one in eight in
games decided by six points or fewer.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, and that's the interesting part. But you know the
most interesting part for me. On top of that, they've
had a week off. They they know they're not playing
any more basketball after this.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
What kind of response would they? Are they gonna cash
this thing in?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Do they have tickets boughs for spring break already, or
are they gonna play hard.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I don't know, right, Like, we've never seen this.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
This is the first year where you haven't gone in
the Big Ten tournament, So this is the first time
that a team has had to deal with this. This
is their last one. I don't know what kind of
team we're gonna get for Pency. I know that they
like to steal the ball, and I don't know they
like to play fast. I know they like to be
pesky all that.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
But if you're greg guard of the Badgers, you're assuming
they're just gonna let it rip, right.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
And that's your preparation. If it goes the other way, Hey,
you can live with that. You can live with that
with about six minutes left in the second half, and
you can start emptying your bench.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
If they go the other way. But you can't plan
for that. Your officials for today's game Keith Kimball, Thomas Nunez,
and dj Krstensen. As the Nitney Lions come out in
the Traveling Blue Unis are the White Trim Badgers in
the home Whites and the Cardinal Trim. Has been a
disappointing season for Penn State. After a terrific start, they

(04:02):
started ten to one, They get the big ten play,
they beat for two and you're thinking, oh, here we go,
and then it's just been one gut punch after another.
So as we said, we'll see what they've got in
the tank and we'll watch these Wisconsin Badgers in this
building for the final time this season. Conan Niederhaeuser and
Prow will jump center as we are set to go,

(04:25):
but we're guys will be looking an eye to eye
we're out at Conan Niederhaeuser is seven feet tall, two
hundred and fifty pounder, a couple of years at Noldern, Illinois.
Are now in Nitney Lyon as we are set to go,
and the toss and tapple belong to the Badgers Wisconsin
bus to our left, we are underway at the Cole Center.

(04:45):
Roland Winter against Zach kicks the win to John Black
Welby and chased by East Baldwick. A feeds per Winter
wraps at the tan Jay. He's with Dunn inside feed
to Krow, backing on Conan Niederhaeuser low on the left,
reverse layup. It's good nifty note inside from Crow to
open up the scory. That's great.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Full work is what that is. Who doesn't love a
big with some great fullwork.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Come on, man, oh you were a nifty no dude.
Here's dem Marco done on the right side. Penn State
moving to our right. There, Freddy Dillon on the right
wing too. Nothing Wisconsin here in the opening minute, Hicks
between the circles. Winter's on him, and now it's Baldwin
against Kamario McGee high screen, Conan Niederhauser left of the circle.

(05:26):
Three in the air. Baldwin no good to read on,
ripped away by John Tanjay. Here comes John up the floor,
flips to Nolan, Winter feeds McGee on the left side.
Comari dribbles to the top, leaves it for crowd. Top
of the arc. Crowd looks left, one dribble right, pivots
and gets it into John Blackwell, who gets found from
behind and going for that steel there a little polk

(05:48):
away a'st Baldwin hitting a piece of Blackwell and east
Baldwin's picked up an early foul Well.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
He's Baldwin's right into John Blackwell. So last possession right there,
John just cut back door. Steve hit him on the
pass and then Baldwin behind and that's where he gets
the foul, and I don't know why he was looking
like it wasn't a foul.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Was obviously a foul. McGhee baseline left, will in down
for Wisconsin in the blackwell left corner, feeds Tanja. He'll
throw it. The Winter sends to Bighie on the right side.
Lamarian McGee against Freddy dillyon Kamari baseline right, drives in
the lane, reverse layup, blacked by Dillion diving Ford. McGee
kept alive and rolls out the blackwell in the lane
fade away, flipping the paint is short, rebound tipped gathered

(06:24):
by McGhee. Another chance for Wisconsin holding the Winter, feeds
it Toanja. Now outside right, he'll throw the crowd top
of the circle while looking inside tosses a tanjay instead.
Now McGhee right quarter three, got it, corner three. Comori
McGee said that a few times this year.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
All is good in the world.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
He's missed a couple of them and gainst Minnesota, Michigan State.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Here's the marco done. Driving the left lane line to
the cup. He'll lay it up and then it counts
and a foul.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Dunne was able to get a straight line drive there.
That's why it happened so quickly. Penn State pushed initially
and then done just straight line right down.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
John gets on the side.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
John Blackwell gets on the side of him, and that's
why that's there, and that's why he's able to get
to the bucket.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Blackwell the foul his first DeMarco done eighty nine percent
free throw shooter, and he'll pay off the three point
play knocks down to throw five to three Wisconsin or
a minute forty five into the game. He's gonna gee
up the right side line of the front court, shadowed
by Dillyon. He'll throw at the nole in winter top
of the circle. Hees off the Blackwell at the left point,

(07:28):
holds you out near half court. As black Liell resets
the floor with fifteen on the chak claw Crow leaves
it for Tanjay on the right way. Tanjay steps back,
can't get loose, bounces to Kraw. Kraw is fouled by
no He walk with the ball, check at going to Niederhauser.
With the defensive work and crowd guilty of the extra
step turnover for the Badgers.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
That was good for work, I mean a big never
travels on that spin.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, he might have moved him a little bit, moved
a little bit. Just bias against those bigs again right,
always always. Here's DeMarco Dn handing off the Baldwin. It's
the breaks feeds Zach kicks and he threw it away.
You're right into the hands of Kamari McGee. They wanted
the big guy inside and the gee picks it off.
About two and a half minutes in five to three Wisconsin,
the EEE throwing the blackwell against Done on the right wing,

(08:14):
looped it into crowd right of the lane, hits his
on crowd now backing his crowd, still backing right, block
out the Winter Open three straight on, straight through. Now.
The Badgers have been struggling for distance the last four games,
but a couple of early hits from the three point line.
Here today and it's eight three Wisconsin. Here's Done driving
left lane line, try to run it up there and

(08:34):
it's sent out of bounds by Nolan Winter.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
And Nolan did a good job of having space there
as a big when you're the initial defender and you
go up against a smaller guard, if you have enough space,
it allows you to get a block shot.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Eight to three. Wisconsin got quite three minutes into the game.
Ace Baldwin baseline left, will in bound and he'll float
it out the dune, left side off the Conannederhauser screen
feeds Hicks high on the left, looted in Conan Niederhaeuser
bit post left, left shoulder, turn up right hand, short rebound,
tanjay outlet right side the blackwell hand. The sophomore up

(09:08):
the floor for Wisconsin gets a little bumper krow a
throw to Stevie. He's open. He'll flip the three good
and the Badgers are three for three from distance in
the early minutes of this game. Back to back threes
from Bigs that took two seconds. I had him do it.
I say it right away. Eleven three Wisconsin. Here's Freddie
Dillon pull up right elbow jumper back rim, no rebound

(09:31):
taped to the mountains. Last touch by Conan Nederhauser. It'll
be Wisconsin ball. As Jack Jenicky and Carter Gilmore shut
the check in coming out, we'll be blackwelling crowd.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
And that's the start Wisconsin needed. Making a bunch of threes.
Feeling good about yourself, especially after the last four Jack
Janicki in the game with his tooth fixed by the way.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Oh, yeah, it looked good last night. Yeah. All the
Pearly Whites are back intact. Yeah, the Badgers the last
four games or twenty seven of one oh two from distance,
they're three three to start this game. As Janicki goes inside,
Nola the Winter catch your slam dunk, easy money inside.
It's thirteen to three Wisconsin, sixteen ten left to the

(10:11):
first half. DeMarco dun high on the right. He'll throw
it to a dillyon picked up by Janicki, loops at
the Conan Niederhauser at the top of the circle. A
couple of left hand ribbles, hands off to Zach kicks
and try to slip it back to Conan. Niederhauser comes
back to him off with the flesher and then Jenicky
not to pass away. Turnover Penn State. Here comes Jack
to the line. A step in the lane. Oh, try
to feed Winter and not able to gather turnover Wisconsin.

(10:35):
Janicki trying a little no look action. Here's done, driving
not to way Gilmour out of bounds. It'll belong to
Penn State. We'll have our first media timeout at a
good start for the home team in the final home
game of the year. Today's gay brought to you with

(11:17):
Penn State fifteen forty three left in the half.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
We sit at once, but this is the start you've wanted. Now,
Keep the pedal down, Keep the pedal down.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
He's Baldwin inbounding Katchians in the game for Penn State.
Is bald to the not to wait by Janicky forcing
another turnover. Here's Jack of the lead feed to Tanjay
on the left side is Janicki into Gilmore whips it
right corner McGhee for three good again. Corner three McGhee
with two early hits and at sixteen to three Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
The ball movement, man, I mean, this thing is beautiful,
the way they're finding each other. Defensively, they're in gaps,
they're getting deflections. Offensively, they're coming down, they're spraying that
thing around, they're getting open looks.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I mean, this is a great start.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
And another deflection from Janicki, who has three or four
of them already. His crowd will come back in for
Nolan Winters sixteen to three Wisconsin with fifteen twenty left
in the first half. Katchienza by the way, six to
eight sophomore in the upper Darby pa Is DeMarco dun
in bounds the inbounds of ball to Nick Kern. Rebell

(12:19):
driving the lane ten footer is good for Kern the
six sixth senior and it's sixteen to five Wisconsin. That
hit for Penn State stopped at eleven point badger run.
We're about five minutes in. Jenicky on the left side
takes it to the top of the circuit minus McGee
at the free throw line. Kivot's at the right elbow
puts it on the floor against Dillion in the lane
up left hand. Cunn, Oh my goodness. Tomari McGhee feeling

(12:43):
it in the early minutes. Eighteen to five Wisconsin. There's
Dillion against John Tanjays. Dillion works it outside left, throws
to Kern high on the right against Gilmore, now picked
up by Jenicky. Kern backing right Black backing, turns it
out to the Marco done rapped out the Kerr out
of the way with the walk that'd done Kern for three
and he berries it from the right corners. Five great

(13:05):
points for Nick Kern. Eighteen to eight Wisconsin. McGee quickly
up the floor to Janicky on the left wing. We'll
go into kraw left of the lane against inside Krow
back to the basket, starting to back to the block,
whips it to Janicky, flips a three straight away off
the left side iron no good rebound, tipped to the air,
pulled down by East Baldwood. Moves to the head to Freddy.
Dillon up the floor, throws to Doun. He'll step back,

(13:26):
snaps off the three good Lamarco Dunn better than thirty
eight percent from distance. It's eighteen to eleven Wisconsin. There's
six minutes into the game here in Madison. McGhee throwing
the crowd right of the circle back to McGee off
a krow screen ends and picks him up on a
switch krow right elbow out the Tanjay open look, left
side book it John Tanjay with a three pointer. It's

(13:49):
twenty one to eleven Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Five to six from three. That's so good to see.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
It's Dillion inside ends and not to way Gilmore out
of bounds for a long depend stay he now Xavier
Amis will come in reentering is John blackwell as Gilmour
and McGee will sit down Owningneedhauser back in Dominic Stewart
on the floor for Penn State as well.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
And the reason the five for six.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah, they're scoring points off of it, but again we've
talked about the last four games not great. Now you're
building that confidence back up.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Eight buckets, six assists in the yearly going for Wisconsin.
There's current off the right elbow. This goes back me
on the three point line. The pass knocked away by
Jenikey gets back to current insight, feed dillyon low on
the left and he'll lay it in.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
That's a tough bucket there because you get the deflection.
He goes right back and then all of a sudden
give up a layup, but good defensive possessions.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Twenty one thirteen, Wisconsin, thirteen eighteen left in the first half. Tanjay,
we'll throw to Xavier Amos or the right wing and
jostled around a little bit by Dilly I who went
down nothing called as Amos cries to the bucket and
pushed it up and in.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
And what a strong move from X.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
When X plays that way and now all of a
sudden he can do some really good things. Sometimes he's
got a tenant to back away from that contact.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Delion has a pass deflect that's strolling away by Amos.
It's three on three. Amos bounces to Blackwell and it's
tapped out of bounds and went off of Blackwell. They say,
as Wisconsin turns it over, Zach kicks will come in
for Delli on you. That was an encouraging little snapshot there. Example.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
There's no question when he plays it with then all
of a sudden last possession, he gets it, dribbles it,
gets you know, a little contact there and leads that
turnover between him.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
And John So twelve forty five left in the half.
Twenty three thirteen, Wisconsin. Stuart the freshman hands off the east.
Baldwin how high and it's pass knocked away by Kraus,
stolen by Janicki. Another Penn State turnover, and Jennicky had
it knocked away by Baldwin. Turnover wisconcentrating miscues here man,
here's Zach kicks. He'll try a three left wing and

(15:46):
he'll stick it. He's a forty percent shooter from long
range twenty three sixteen Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
And Baldwin baited Janicki into that last turnover. He was
just waiting for him to turn. Once he turned to win.
Here you see Penn State in the zone.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Here's Blackwell shooting over at right side. Another three four
of Wisconsin, as the Badgers are six of seven from
long range twenty six sixteen Wisconsin, twelve oh three left
in the half. Kern right of the lane, stops at
the block, whoops around a ConA Nedterhauser screen feeds Stewart.
He'll try a three left side, good dominic. Stewart's sixty
five freshmen out of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and it's twenty

(16:22):
six nineteen Wisconsin, eleven fifty left in the half. Penn
State four out of five from long range. Blackwell throwing
to Amos. Zone continues from Penn State. A little two
to three look kraw ride elbow finds the cutter Blackwell
low on the right, pushed it up too strong, no good,
and the rebound of ConA Niederhauser. Here comes Stuart left
side of the front court for Penn State. Ace Baldwin

(16:44):
up top off the high screen. Baldwin pulled up fighline
jumper too hard, no good. Rebound. Janicki four Wisconsin, Andrew's
up seven with eleven twenty left in the first half.
Janicki high and the right. He'll throw the crow right
of the lane. Rowled his back to the basket, starting
to back on Zach kicks backing, they bump, He'll turn,
He'll flip it up right, hand around it out No
good Yannick Conan Niederhauser the rebound for Penn State, and

(17:07):
now Nick kerran up the left sideline, gets the high screen,
works to the foulinge leaning shooting for fourteen and he
banked it in twenty six twenty one Wisconsin ten fifty
eight left and a half, so Penn State making a
push getting hot of the offensive end Tanja left elbow
Tonjay's spin move man lost a handle, but he was fouled.
That'll be on Yonick Conan Nederhauser. That'll be his first

where families come first. Correct myself, there that last foul
and this is significant. It was on Ace Baldwin and
not Conan Niederhauser. That foul on Baldwin is his second,
so a very dangerous guard with two early fouls. Twenty

(18:31):
six to twenty one. Wisconsin leads Penn State with ten
fifty one left in a half.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
And if you're Wisconsin right now, Penn State scored on
seven of the last eight. Defensively, they've gotten just a
little bit spread out, and that's where Penn State's been
able to knock down a couple of threes, knocked down
a couple of mid range. I don't think defensively they've
been bad. I just think they've got spread out a
little bit too much.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
John Tanjay shooting two free throws in the first hits
the front rim and rolls over and through. Ninety two
percent free throw shooter Toanjay. The Badgers continue on a
record pace as a team at the free throw line
at about eighty three and a half percent, and Tanjay
hits them both. Of course, free throws a big difference
on Wednesday, and to win at Minnesota, Tonjy hits them both.

(19:15):
Twenty eight twenty one, Wisconsin, ten forty three left in
the half. Here's Stuart against Blackwell hoops at the Conan
Niederhauser at the right elbow faces up on Nolan Winter.
The double from Gilmore Needer Houser upright hand, Good off
the window. Eight twenty three Wisconsin, ten and a half
minutes left till halftime. John Tonjay off the screen from Winter,

(19:35):
tries a three and it spins out. No good. Rebound
to Nick Kern of Penn State up the middle of
the front court for think Dominic. Stewart high in the right,
takes the top of the circle and angles left elbow,
feeds jobing Carter in right away. He'll try a three
right of the circle. No good. The rebound of Blackwell
four Wisconsin, Job and Carter is sixty three freshmen. Here's

(19:56):
Wincher wraps and left wing for Kamari McGee. McGhee feeds
Gilmour between the arcs. He'll turn it right side of
Tanjay drives basein got by Stewart, Hans in the air,
tough reverse layup No trying to dig out his own rebound.
He does push it up got fouled Tonjay cleaning up
the miss and he'll earn free throws with his team

(20:16):
up five nine to fifty one left in the half.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
I was just trying to pat his stats there. That's
all that is.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Get an extra rebound.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
But as I mean, he's been fantastic getting to the basket.
For the reason I bring up the rebounding. Last couple
of games, guards have been done doing a really good.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Job of that.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
John black Well, you know he's able to get eleven
rebounds at Minnesota. John Tanjay gets seven rebounds at Minnesota.
For this team to have the success in march shifts,
that's going.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
To be crucial. So the BIG's doing all the dirty
work is over.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's all that is. Yeah, that's the way it normally is.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
So Tanjay hitting the first free throw and he is
short with the second. Kurn the rebound. Tonja three out
of four at the foul line here in the first half,
twenty nine to twenty three, Wisconsin, nine to forty five
left in the half, current outside left. He'll throw the
hicks between the circles, bounces the gannic Conan neder Heuiser
off the right elbow. You know, it's Kerrn right of
the lanes, gives it the steward of the left side.

(21:08):
He'll try a three and it's off the rim, no
good way off the mark, winter the rebound. And here's
Kamari McGee, left side line to the front court, walks
the dribble against Javin Carter. He'll throw it the winter
out high, hands off the tan. Jack don Jay picked
up the dribble, darts a past to McGee, dries off
the left wing the lines, puts the defenders to the rimblay.
I'm good.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
What a first hole, Kamari McGee.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
He has ten thirty one twenty three Wisconsin nine ten
left in the half. Conan Neterhauser up top, hands off
the kern driving on Gilmour left lane line, push it
up left hand, no good off the left side eye graybound,
pulled down by winter. And here's McGee, a senior out
of Racine Saint Catherine, dries down the lane to the rim,
high off the glass, no good rebound, knocked it bound

(21:51):
to the belong to Wisconsin. Camari McGee into some attack
mode here.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
It's gonna say the safe thing now, that's good, but
there's also limitation to what.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
It is to a little bit right. Yeah, But I mean.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
He's been ultra aggressive. But you see a little bit
on senior night, Yeah, you got senior days, you'd see
that occasionally.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Eight fifty two left in the half, Jack Janicki back
in the game. Cameron Hunter is on for Wisconsin. Ounce
I'm a little bit on Wednesday night. He'll end down
at the black Well left corner, feeds Nolan Winter at
the left point. Winter won dribble, gives it up to Gilmore.
He'll turn to Janicky Hind the right off the Gilly
screen flips the Winter outside left Winter to Cameron Hunter.

(22:35):
Hunter on the left wing takes it off the wing
in the lane and lost the handle. Turn over a Wisconsin.
Here's a lead feed done ahead does Zach Hicks on
the left side. Throws to dillyon left corner against Blackwell.
Back out the done turns at the job in Carter.
Eight twenty five left in the half. Thirty one twenty
three Wisconsin. Carter throws the doun Don dribbles off the wing,

(22:55):
stops at the y elbow, feeds Zach Hicks. He'll take it
off the wing, stops at the foul. Throws to quarter
driving left of the lane and he gets found before
the shot. They'll get Shaniki. That'll be his first foul.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
So last drive by camp Hunter. It's just a situation
over penetrating. Sometimes, right when you over penetrate, that's when
bad things happen.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
That's what happened in that last possession for the turnover,
Stephen Krow in for Wisconsin as the inbounds pass goes
to Hicks on the left wing, ends back on the
floor for Penn State. Here's done right hand, ribbled down
the lane to the rim, and he flips it in
with the right hands. Marco Dunn having a nice first half.
He has eight thirty one to twenty five Wisconsin with

(23:38):
eight minutes left in the first half. Blackwell outside right,
you'll throw to Gilmore right at the circle, feeds Kraw
right elbow, ends the defending Krow starting to back on
ends backing right block, shakes Ducks in and scores it
with a right hand. It's just so good.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
I mean, clip that and chill that to every you
felt there in the state of Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
As far as footwork, then there's some pretty good fundamental
basketball right there from Stevie thirty three twenty five Wisconsin,
seven thirty left in the half, job and Carter left
to the circle, throws to Dunne. Done against Janicky to
the line. A bump plays on pivots one Pump throws
a dilly on the left side eight of the shot clock.
Freddy Dillon against John Blackwell. Dellion backs up on the dribble.

(24:22):
Now drives it left in the lane and it's ripped
away by Blackwell. John on the push up the middle
front court fans it out. The Hunter feeds. Gilmore takes
the three. Hunter takes the three left side off the rim.
No gud rerebound. Gilmore tipped it up. It's loose gathered
by Janicki feeds Blackwell left hand dribbled across the lane
to the left wing. Now he'll drive baseline and he
gets fouled on the play and we'll have the under

(24:47):
eight media timeouts. Andrews shooting fifty seven percent for the floor.
Penn State not far behind him, though both teams where
they're not turning it over, has some things going on offense.

fairness to camera, this is nobody else. Yeah, ninth and
that and it's also his ninth game of the year.
But you take a time out there. But he's not
played a lot in the guts of teams. But but yeah,
that nobody helped them, nobody.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
There has to be better screening on those actions turnovers,
even six aside.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Here's Dillon off the ConA Niederhauser's screen and now Baldwin
goes into him, Balding back in. They're playing with two fouls.
Nieterhauser mid post left, feeds Dellon driving on. Hunter steps
back left, elbow jumper off the rim. No good exam.
You're amos up strong for the rebound and here comes Hunter.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
It's a great job. But I have no idea what
Penn State biggs are doing. He wants to get back
to the jump look with Doya.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Thirty five twenty five, Wisconsin, and Stevie is saying thank
you very much. Here's Coonan Niederhauser inside over Amos and
scoring for the right block.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
A great job by Steve on the offense. Don't get wrong,
but it I just.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Thirty five, twenty seven, Wisconsin, five point fifty left till halftime.
Cameron Hunter up top for Wisconsin, throwing the blackwell outside right.
I'm sit back the Hunter. Hunters surveys, throws to Amos,
feeds Kraal at the free throw line. Shot clock is
at five. Hunter and I would do something here knocked

(27:15):
away and then throws one up and that's going to
be an airball as Ace Baldwin got into him there
and a shot clock violation here for the Badgers. They
lead by eight five twenty seven left and a half,
and doctor Maury mcgeey, CAUGHTERR Gilmour and John Tanjay will
come in. Amos Hunter and j Nikki will sit down.

(27:39):
Lesson learned that you think next week though a guy
like Hunter, if you're playing three games three days, no question. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
And Kim's had a lot of injury, so you'll be
able to get some run and learn a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
And there's Ace Baldwin driving knocked away by McGhee another turnover.
McGee dies to the floor, digs it out of there
and passes off the Blackwell Well. He's up the floor,
curve on his head. Blackwell blowst of the defense texas
to the cup. He lays it in.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
You just play, You just keep playing. Penn State was
complaining about a no foul call.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
What happens.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Wiscon's gets ball, runs it down, scores a layer.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Ten point lead for the Badgers. Here's done, goes off
the dillion left of the lane, four forty five left
in the half, thirty seven to twenty seven. Wisconcert Famarco
Dunn throwing the Conan meterhauser at the left elbow under coverage.
Crowd knock Kaway is helping out. Was Gilmour knocked out?
A Bad's last touched by Penn State. Another Penn State turnover.

(28:36):
That's eight of them now for the Nitney lines.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Talked about the middle of this game, when Penn State
went seven and eight from to the floor, said they
were Wisconsin defense was spread a little bit too much.
What's all of a sudden happened there? Tightened up real
quick and the driving lanes aren't there anymore.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Penn State showing zone here again. Kraal throwing the McGee
between the circles, whips to Gilmore, took a look, turned
it down, He'll get it into crow the free throw line.
Stevie skips it off to a John Tanjay and he
gets fouled by Nick Kernly, his first of the team's
fifth with four to eighteen left in the half, thirty
seven to twenty seven. Wisconsin Badger's guilty of just two

(29:17):
fouls here so far. Mike Rose keeping a Spalding on
the floor playing with two fouls. Here's Tanja for three
on the left side. Splashed it again, second three point
hit for Tanjay. Forty to twenty seven Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
If Penn S was going zone it when they go Zell,
then end the kind of imbounds the ball goes back
to quickly allows for that open three.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Here's Kerrent off the right wing in the lane, throws
it up front rim no good rebound to Tanjay. Here
come the Badgers. Tanji up the middle throwing the Blackwell
steps into a three left side hit the front rim
no good, bald with the rebound wall the pass left
sideline front court to Kern left of the lane against
john Tonjay scoops the hecks on the left side ticks.
We'll toss it back out to Kern inside. Conan Niederhauser

(30:01):
catches ran in to Gilmour whistle offensive fout the call

happy camper, and we'll have the under four media time out.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Wisconsin, and he was doing a good job of stay
in this case, it was it was got enough time
for it.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
It was pretty clear. Here's Blackwell off the floor, left
side out there with Tagie Gilmore Tanjay in Winter Blackwell
the left corner. He'll throw the winter left point. Lip
said back the Blackwell John on the left wing. He'll
toss it out to Gilbo. Wide pass but secured by
quarter hands off the Tanjay John on the move baseline
right current cut him off. Shot Lock is at six.

(31:47):
Tanja backing, backing right of the lane. One pump, two
pumps out. The Gilly takes a three right side off
the rim. No good Joannick Conan Nedterhauser. The rebound here
comes Kerrent for Penn State to the front court with
three minute it's left in the half. Adgers up thirteen.
Kerrn right lane line driving, throws it up over Tanjay missed,
but a foul. They'll get it on Tanjay. That'll be
his first.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
And I talked a lot about space and on the
defensive end there.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Where was it? Driving? Pretty big? Right? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (32:14):
I mean, and that's where all of a sudden, it's
a lack of communication between John, Tanjay Kamari McGee. Because
of the lack of communication, that space is bigger and
that driving lane is much easier to get downhill.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
With Nick Kern a sixty eight percent free throw shooter,
there's seven points in this first half and it stays
that way. There's a year is short with a first
free throw. Then State a seventy six percent free throw
shooting team, and they get as much done with the
foul line per game as Wisconsin. Second free throw is

(32:48):
good for Kerrent. They both get about sixteen and a
half points per game from the foul line forty to
twenty eight Wisconsin. With two fifty three left in the
first half, Penn State picking up a little bit in
the back court. Blackwell bring to the calls on the
left side, and now they go into the half court offense.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
But they've gone zone, and then they've gone to man
after two passes. Now it looks like they're staying zone.
In this possession.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
He's Caamari driving in the lane. The floater is high
off the glass. It comes down to Winter is shot
blocked by Conan Niederhaeuser, and here comes Penn State done
ahead the current current off the right wing up over.
Gilmore missed it rebound. Niederhauser couldn't control Winter is there.
Here's Blackwell pushing John in the middle. Takes a left
lane lining an offensive foul on Blackwell. That'll be his

(33:33):
second foul. I'll get Jack Jenni came back into the game, and.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
That's one where John as good as he has been
about taking the ball and going downhill off of a rebound,
I would have loved to pass ahead and get the
ball back because Penn State was already loaded there.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Yeah, easy call to make two was with that free
arm he extended it. So black well with the two
fouls on the bench. Is Jennicky back in for Wisconsin?
Two to ten left and a half forty twenty eight
the bats. Here's Hicks going into ConA Nederheuser, flipped it up,
it's spun out. No, but he'll go to the free
throw line as he was fouled, and this is gonna
go against JENNICKI and that's gonna be his second So

(34:16):
Janni Conan Niederhauser is a sixty seven percent free throw
shooter puser. So Minny lyons it wriped themselves back to
the free throw lines trying to get the deficit down
to ten. It's a twelve right now, there's seven footer
with the first free throw and it rolls off the
right side of the ram. No good, I think a

(34:39):
lot of it is.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Penn State's playing with some really good pace offensively, So
that's why Wisconsin has had those driving things, but just
stay tight, stay tight, build out.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Second free throw is good. When the Niederhauser splits forty
to twenty nine Wisconsin, Penn State little three quarters, look down.
Janicki throws over at to McGee breaks the midstrip on
the left side. Forty to twenty nine Wisconsin. Two minutes
left in the half. Gilmore is going to kraw at
the top of the circle, steps left, feeds McGee on
the left side. I'mari on the wing out the Janicki

(35:10):
at the top. Jenikee gives it up the tanjay high
on the right. You'll throw it a krow eight to shoot.
McGee dribbles off the left wing, darts it back out.
The jack flips a three left corner. It's off the rim.
No good going to neater house with a rebound for
Penn State. Now aast Baldwin is pushing to the line.
Baldwin got tripped up by McGee. Ace. Baldwin goes to
the floor hard, as did McGee. Tomari going over to

(35:32):
make sure his counterpart is all right, and Baldwin feeling
that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
That was a good offense possession by Wisconsin wide open.
Look just missed the three. Then all of a sudden,
Penn State wants to get out and run. That's what
they're gonna do. And we've talked about that early in
the game here. Transition defense was going to be important
right there. What wasn't and what wasn't happening was the
wall wasn't built. When I say a wall, you've got
all guys sprinting back buildings that they can't come down

(36:02):
with the full seed.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
So thirty second time out here taken by Mike Rhoades,
the Penn State head coach. We have a minute thirty
three left and they have forty to twenty nine, Wisconsin
leading Penn State. We'll keep it here. We'll say Badger
fans in Wisconsin Pork Association encourages you to enjoy pork
while supporting our Badgers all year long. This is WPPA
dot org for recipes and information on this timeout, among

(36:26):
other things. We'll buy east Bald with a little time
to shake it off a little bit. And for Kamari
McGee as well, that was a pretty good pollision between
those two. Kamari guilty of that foul. That's his first spade.
Janicki Krawd Gilmour and Tanje the five on the floor.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
And this is the crazy thing. Wisconsin at forty points.
They haven't scored in the last two forty five.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Yeah, and a lot.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Of it's been that zone.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
I think, you know, when you look at how they've
been playing early on here, Wisconsin was doing a real
good job.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
They were making a lot of shots from three.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Obviously had three point percentages down a little bit, still
have fifty percent. But the ball he gets his own
has a tendency at times to stop and not move
as quick. That's what we're seeing a little bit here
in these last couple of offense possessions.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Baldwin almost automatic at the foul line, but he missed
the first free throw. Ninety four percent shooter. Yeah, the
Badgers hit well six of their first seven from the
three point line, one of seven cents. Second free throw
for Baldwin good, so he gets one out of two.
That's his first point of the game. Forty to thirty,
Wisconsin down to ninety seconds left in the first half.

(37:33):
Three quarters. Look continues defensively from Penn State. Janicki sizes
it up, throwing the McGee nice catch. Kamari coming in
hot McGhee on the right wing, bounces the crowd light
of the lane. Hickses on on the double from Coda Niederhauser,
a throat of Tanjay tap batch mcgeeee tap past McGee
left corner, three off the rim. No good ConA Neterhauser.
The rebound on a long past the done dry to

(37:53):
the rim. The layup is good as Penn State in
transition gets the buckles.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
You can't give up those baskets.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Forty to thirty two, Wisconsin, one minute left to the half.
Tonjay throwing to Gilmour out between the arcs the past
to McGee left point, feeds JANICKI left corner. Janiki matchup
with Zach kicks right now back out to the McGee,
wraps to Tanjay high on the right Tonja with Nick
Kurran now bald with a double. I throw the crowd
back out the McGee feeds Gilmore good look at a
three left side off the back of the rim. No

(38:21):
good rebound Stephen kraw second chance Wisconsin toanj for three
right side. That's off the rim. Short Badgers have gotten
cold from distance thirty three seconds left in the half.
Forty to thirty two Wisconsin. What about a six second
difference game to shot clock. Game clock is at twenty
five seconds. Ace Baldwin uncontested, locking the dribble in the

(38:44):
center circle. Down to seventeen seconds left in the half,
forty to thirty two of the Badgers, Baldwin with a
shot clock down to seven. Baldwin for three straight away.
It's good and it's forty to thirty five. Penn State
now is now within five. All got away five point
four loss of time on that. You got five point
fours right? I think you roll up as Kamari McGee

(39:06):
front court with four with three McGee driving a trip doun.
They'll play on wraps it off the bottom of the rim.
No good, McGhee, a little out of control there. Great
guard wanted the fab didn't get it, and Penn State
has fought its way right back into this game. It's
just a five point lead for the Badgers. As we
head to the locker room, Badger fans, Today's game brought

(39:28):

up lots of bouts of pizza, old Dutch chips, and

forty to thirty five. As we get ready for the

final eight points of the half to thirty five.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
How about that? Yeah? I scored no points, had no rebounds,
no assists, no tackles, no rushing yardage. So I yeah
that was you guys, hold a secret pretty well. That
was one of the more awkward. Thank you, what awkward, humbling,
very honored, but very humbled boy than anything.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
Well deserved, well deserved. You're in the ears of every
Badger fan and you've been there for every moment of it.
And it's been so fun to sit here for these
two years.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Next you and I.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
You know, as much as you are great at this,
you're a better person. That's what I love about it. Well,
if you're looking to know, you understand, you know what the.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Cool part is when you've covered you, we called your
games a player, and we become such good friends here
we might as well do this for another I don't
know a little while anyway, you know that's right. Second
half underway is Penn State moving to our left. Zach
kicks up top, tries a three, and it's a two
point game. Zach hicks with a triple and it's forty

(41:26):
to thirty eight Wisconsin. Opening minute of the second half.
Here's Blackwell, feeds Tan Jay, takes the three, takes it
off the wing, now stops mid post, left, finds kraw
and he'll let fly at three and that's off the rim.
No good the rebound of Janna Conan Niederhauser. Here comes
Penn steak and tied or take the lead. And here's
Dillon trying to give him the lead and Misster three

(41:47):
shots short of the right side, Tanjay weaving to the
front court, left of the lane. One puffalo on the
left shot sent back on the rejection into the hands
of Ace Baldwin. He'll bounce to Dillion off the right wing,
feeds Hicks, He'll throw it a done left corner. Three
is around and out, no good. The rebound of Nolan
Winter forty to thirty eight Wisconsin. A minute into the

(42:07):
second half. Here's Blackwell left leyla shot blocked by Conan Niederhauser.
We mentioned he and Nate Biddle the shot blocking leaders
into big ten.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
And what happens right now is Wisconsin defensively, but Penn
State's score and they're pressing, and we're seeing a little
bit of them being cautious on what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Here Stephen krowd backing on Conan Nedterhauser. One pod now
ducks in. Uh got it?

Speaker 1 (42:32):
It counts in a foul.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Good work inside Stephen Crowley has eleven and a chance
to make it twelve. A much needed bucket here for
Wisconsin is Penn State's run stopped at eleven from the
end of the first half to the beginning of the second.

Speaker 3 (42:51):
And I think, like you said, you know you've talked
about the eleven run. The reason happened though, is defensively
Wisconsin just getting too much space, and then all of
a sudden it allows them to set their defense, and
then offensively Wisconsin isn't running what they want to run.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
Forty three thirty eight Wisconsin eights. Baldwin right side, looped
it into Konnanneer Houser low on the left, and he
sends it down to hand dunk from the seven footer
forty three to forty Wisconsin's lead back down the three
ton Jay high on the left, things it between the circles,
throws to Krow left foul on extended steven a hand

(43:27):
off to McGee, crolls around the crowd, screen, goes through
the lane. Is it the Blackwell? John off the right
wing going down with Baldwin. Nothing called it? The bucket
is good for Blackwell trying to sell that offensive foul
No sale. Forty five forty Wisconsin not quite two minutes
gone by, second half done. Throwing the Hicks between the circles,
Zach kicks hands off the Baldwin outside right. Baldwin loops

(43:50):
it in side. Neeter Houser catches and dunks again. Forty
five forty two Wisconsin, two ten gone. Second half against
the zone.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
The ball's gotta move right now, dribbling a little too much,
move it with the pass.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
There you go. Here's Tanjay flips the three left side.
That's way too strong over everything as DeMarco Dunn gets
the rebound done up the right sideline to the front
court for Penn State, left hand dribble stops left elbow,
scoops at the ace. Baldwin fakes the three, puts it
on the deck, kicks it out to Dillon. He'll try
a three. It's good and this game is tied at

(44:28):
forty five two forty gone by his second half. Here's
Nolan Winser throwing to Blackwell high on the right, feeds.
Winter rotates the Tanjay and the left wing a toss
in to Kraal inside feed. Blackwell catches Low on the
left through two defenders up knocked away into the hands
of Ace. Baldwin knocked away from behind by McGee, picked
up by Blackwell, bounces to Kamari, fakes the three in

(44:51):
a good decision. Now Blackwell in the lane goes to
the rim high off the glass. No good grebound Winter
slam dunk, but it all started by a good decision
that you see. Comar brings that out one more pass.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
John attacks the help sides there wide open for the
miss rebound for Nolan Winter.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Forty seven, forty five Wisconsin. And a foul is called
a Kamari McGee getting into tight on Ace Baldwin. That's
two on McGee. Carter Gilmour will come in for Nolan
Winzor Jack Jenicky is set to come back in as
McGee will sit down.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Nolan Winter's walking off head down.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
Looks like you got hit that last possession after that
dunk defensively.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
Brent Newhart, the athletic trainer, is gonna take a look
at him to his right arm, maybe right shoulder for
Nolan Winter. Here's Baldon in the lane, throws it up
good over Janicky. It counts in a foul and they're
gonna get this on Janicky. The game is tied at
forty seven, and while that's going on, Nolan Winter is
heading back to the locker room area with the athletic trainer,

(45:55):
Brent Neuhauk. He did not look good walking off and
he's Baldwin in the meantime has tied the game. We're
tied at forty seven, sixteen thirty four remaining. The free
throw is good for Baldwin and Penn State has the
lead forty eight to forty seven.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
That's that token two two one trap that they've got
that falls back into the zone and the ball's got
to move.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
Stephen Krow right of the lane, turns baseline against Conan
Nederhaeuser inside feed. Tanja missed the dunk low on the right.
It comes down to Penn State Freddie de leon on
the move down the lane to the rim to lay
up no good. Rebound followed dunk, no good from Conan Nederhaeuser.
Here's Tanjay the other way. He scoops at the Gilmore,
feeding Janicki between the circles, flips to Kraal, throws to

(46:47):
Blackwell where saw block is called. That was DeMarco Dunn
over there for Penn State. That'll be his first foul,
sixteen oh one remaining, forty eight forty seven. Penn State
leading Wisconson.

Speaker 3 (47:03):
And even though it's a different defense than what you've seen,
the ball move and it's gonna be able to fix it.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
They just have to do it. Blackwell in bounds to
Stephen Kroll left of the lane. Crowd against Conan nieder
Hauser knocked away from behind, stolen by Ace Baldwin. Three
on two, Baldwin to pull up three. It's short, no
good rebound Janicki four Wisconsin Badgers dodging one there fifteen
forty five to play Wisconsin down one Janicki left of

(47:27):
the circle. It's passed Intenet for cross stolen away another
pill for for Baldwin up the floor's Ace. Baldwin feeds
Hicks he'll try a three left side good sad kicks
for three fifty one forty seven Penn State with fifteen
and a half minutes remaining.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
A little bit of a feel from the oregonon.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
What do they learn from that? Yeah, right, it's going south.
Bad turnovers you haven't seen.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
Prowd finds Gilmour in the lane, throws it up, missed
but a foul as the Badgers have become turnover prone here.
Both teams with nine miscues will take a break at
the under sixteen media time out. Manards is a proud
sponser of Wisconsin Athletics and reminds everyone to save big
money and all your home improvement needs at Menards fifteen

(48:10):

(48:30):
Penn State fifty one, Wisconsin forty seven. The Didney Lions
have jumped on the Badgers at the end of the
first half and that's carried over to the start of
the second half.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
And it's really been just that two two one press
that's slowed down and junked up Wisconsin's offense enough.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
Carter Gilmore at the free throw line, shooting two, he
knocks down the first, his first point of the game.
He had eight on Wednesday. He went six of six
at the foul line up at Minnesota second free throws
straight crew for Gilly fifty nine. We've talked about it.

Speaker 3 (49:06):
Penn State has been in tight games is the entire year,
so nothing new to them now. They haven't closed out
a lot of them.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
I was lost eight out of nine, decided by six
points or less. They lead by two right now and
a foul ride in the lane DJ Carstensen getting Kamari
McGee for the contact. That's three on the gee and.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
There was just yeah, I was gonna say there was
just enough of a screen there to get Kamari out
of position.

Speaker 2 (49:32):
East Baldwin baseline rival in down. What's it into, Zach
Kern or it's guse be Zach kickspeaker parking outside right,
flips at the Baldwin inside feed, deflected by crowd, cod
and Ederhauser says it done, swoops off the left wing
feed's Freddy Dillon spin move, fadeaway, foul line jump, short
rebound gilmore for Wisconsin fifty one, forty nine Penn State

(49:53):
with fourteen to fifty remaining. John Blackwell bounces the crowd
midpost leg single coverage. Conan Niederhauser backing his crow, left
shoulder turned. Piro Wetts goes up right hand good and
we're tired. Oh the footwork of the big fella. I
love it.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (50:13):
Tied at fifty one, here's Ace Baldwin hearsing on the
screen is krow. Baldwin is off to Dillon, off the screen,
Heeterhuser screen and rolling. Neeterhauser miss the dunk, got the rebound,
gets it out to DeMarco. Don drives the lane, pushed
it up and in. He stayed with it, and it's
now fifty three to fifty one Penn State, fourteen to

(50:34):
ten remainings. Mic Weell throwing to McGee on the left side.
Kamari drifting up top sends to Gilmore, gets at the
Kraal right elbow, roll a couple of dribbles to his
right hands off the Tanjay shadowed by Hicks Fats Krowd
right side three on the way off the rim, no
good long rebound. McGhee runs it down to the mid

(50:54):
cord logo throwing the Blackwell. He'll try a three in
and out no good conan Neterhauser rebound. The Badgers, after
a red hot start from distance, have cooled down dramatically,
now seven to twenty one. I remember they started six
out of seven fifty three fifty one Penn State with
thirteen and a half minutes to play. Ace bald who

(51:14):
left in the lane, lost his balance on the floor,
needs a timeout and he will get it. It's Penn
State's a tough spot there is. Baldwin lost his footing,
but the time out taking this will be a full
time out. Ssconsin Basketball brought to you by UW Health

dot Gov thirteen twenty eight. Remaining Penn State fifty three,
Wisconsin fifty one. This is Badger of basketball from lear
Field thirteen twenty eight, remaining Penn State fifty three, Wisconsin
fifty one. Nolan Winter back in the bench area, but

(51:58):
that right shoulder done some work on it, but he
has the look of someone who may very well get
back into the game. Remains on the bench right now.
Here's Baldwin trying to three left corner, missed it and
the rebound to Exavier Amos. He'll give off the camera
and Hunter back in there for Wisconsin. Sawlm a bit
in the first half, Hunter working off screens from Amos
and Gilmour outside rights cam Renn. It got you things

(52:22):
back in there for Penn State. And now Blackwell on
the left side gets fouled by Dominic Stewart. It'll be
his first and the fourteen foul on Penn State. So
keep that number in mind. You mean those fouls to
rack up. Here is till thirteen oh nine to play
Ton Jay base sideline left, will inbound. It gets it

(52:43):
in the hunter, you'll throw to Gilmore, Feeds Amos hind
the rights the Xavier. Amos whips it the Hunter at
the free throw line camera and then the pay one
pump goes up off the glassing room. No good. Zach
kicks the rebound for Penn State outlet to Nick Kern
right side to the front court. Feeding Hicks gives off
the Steward high on the lefts and I'll toss the

(53:05):
current outside right. There's the Boldwood top of the circle.
They're rowing out the Stewart baseline right now. He is
doubled by amoson Blackwell trapped in a corner in a
five second call. They got the freshman in a tough
spot and the Nitney Lions turn it over.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
Now offensively for Wiscons's a good job defensive offensively. My
question was who's gonna work the high post that last possession.
It was Cam Hunter and I see Noah Winter coming
back in here. But I still think it gets this
zone because even though that's a turnover, it's not Wiscon's
not coming down. You're gonna see this zone for Penn State.
Who's gonna work that high post because that's where the
ball need is touched and that's where he sprayed out

(53:44):
for three ws.

Speaker 2 (53:45):
You're in there for Gilmore twelve and a half minutes
to play fifty three to fifty one Penn State. This
Hunter surveys that zone, drifting off to the left, gives
off the Tanja to the left side, lineback out the Hunter.
There's the Badgers get organized offensively. Hunter off the winch
her screen to throw it to ams eight to shoot.
Hunter feeds x top of the arc, light lane, line

(54:05):
out the tanj four to shoot tanja top of the circle.
He's with Paul, do you want to step back deep?
Three off the rim? No good the rebound of ends
of Penn State and.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
Just not a good offensive possession.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
And it comes Nick Kurrent to the front court well
the Penn State, Nitney Lyons and a foul called on
cameraon Hunter, and that'll get us to the under twelve
media timeout. Ho Chuck Gaming, Wisconsin. Dell's the best place
for growing up entertainment, games and fun times. Your odds
are better here. We'll step away with eleven to fifty
four remaining Penn State fifty three Wisconsin fifty one back

(54:41):
in a moment. This is Badger Basketball from lear Field.

five eleven minutes in fifty four seconds remaining Penn State

(55:04):
fifty three Wisconsin at fifty.

Speaker 3 (55:07):
One and last possession, I sit offensively for Wisconsin. Just
not a good possession. And why wasn't it a good possession?
At no point was there a paint touch? And I said,
high posts, who's gonna work that? There wasn't really any
player floating around in that high post area. The ball
just was moved around the perimeter. There was a quick drive,

(55:28):
but it didn't get into the paint. And when you
do that against the zone. Now, all of a sudden,
you're gonna have your shot clock running down. You're gonna
take a deep three. What do they end with a deep?
John Tanja three, Tamari.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
McGee in there with Amos, tanj Blackwell and Nolan Winter
in bounce past the enza the right of the circle feeds.
Stewart stops right elbow rows to Kerrent with the shot faked.
Top of the arc amous defense. Current rocks the dribble,
drive spins upright hand. Good good work for Current. He
has ten fifty five to fifty one Penn State eleven
thirty eight remaining. It was TANJ four Wisconsin nine points,

(56:03):
Tanja two of ten from the field to throw the
Winter out. The McGee for the jam has left quarter
three off the rim. No good, and the rebound ends
of Penn State. Mister Badger's ice cold from distance, here's
Current barreling down the lane. Scoops it up over Winter
for two more and it's a six point coming here
real quick, there's McGee off the right wing was driving

(56:25):
and play was stopped. I think Greg got at the time.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Now you could tell Kamar was going. I know what
Kamara was looking at there. But I love that time
out by Greg Gard. Offensively, you're not getting what you
want Defensively, it's leading to a six to zero run.

Speaker 1 (56:37):
Here, take the time out, regroup.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
This is a thirty you will keep it here with
eleven and it's in twelve seconds remaining.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
And the reason I'm so animated about I love this.
This has the same field that Oregon game.

Speaker 2 (56:50):
Right, yeah, right.

Speaker 3 (56:52):
I thought there was a situation where like as a
head coach you get that field too, even though Famori
might have got to the basket, might have scored like
or it could have been a foul. No, no reset
like recrup here that that one basket does not fix
what's going on on the defensive end.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
Yeah, no doubt. Yeah, both teams have two timeouts available
here fifty seven to fifty one, Penn state the Nitney
Lyons are shooting better than fifty two percent for the
field eight to fifteen from three. The Badger's now just
seven of twenty three from the arc and thirty eight
percent overall.

Speaker 3 (57:24):
Six and the second lah, I mean that's just I
mean when you look at this, that that's what this
is right now.

Speaker 1 (57:29):
So part of it you're not making shots part of it. Defensively,
you got to tighten.

Speaker 2 (57:32):
Up now, yeah, I mean for Mario McGee baseline rival inbound.
McGee looks you got to get it in. He'll loop
it into. Kraal ends the defense. Crowd at the right point,
hands off the Blackwell, Sean a twenty on the shot clock.
Gilmore turns it. McGee left quarter three off the rim,
no good rebound, tipped to the air. JENNICKI had it,

(57:54):
lost it out of bounds to Penn State. Oh seven three.
They are fire and blanks and as hot as a
were to start the game from distance. They are now
the polar opposite.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
And I'm still fine with the looks. But what haven't
we seen. We have not seen paint touches. They've gotten
away from that. I'm not saying the threes are bad,
but it's okay to get the paint, get.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
A touch of it.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
Nervous crowd here at the Cole Center, Javing caught her
on the floor for Penn State throwing the current, whipped
it inside. Conon Niederhauser couldn't control it off his hands
off the glass. Here's Blackwell gathering for Wisconsin. Pushes to
the front court with ten forty three to play Blackwell
and the Gilmore lore in the right lay, I'm good,
nicely done Gilmore wide open inside fifty seven fifty three

(58:40):
Penn stage. If that gets a crowd going, ten and
a half minutes remaining, DeMarco done against Blackwell lost it
off his leg. He goes into the back, back, slums, sir,
over and back. Yeah, Blackwell was bothering him, but it
wasn't deflected it.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
Yeah, it was off of Doune's foot.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
Twelve turnovers for Penn State. The Badgers are guilty of nine.
Blackwell's sideline left will inbound and the crow hands it
back to John feeds Gilmour between the circles, rotates Jenicky
back out. The guilty whips at the crowd. Now it's
Blackwell off. The left wing pushed it up in traffic
no rybound kraw slam dunk steven crowd with the followed
and place has stopped. A timeout taken by Penn State,

(59:25):
as the Badgers have moved to within two thirty second
time out taken by the Nantney Lions. We'll keep it
here with ten thirteen remaining, Penn State fifty seven, Wisconsin fifty.

Speaker 3 (59:37):
Five last possession. What was the difference? Got in the
paint touch I mean right, but touts a high post.
And then John blackwell, because he is I mean John special.
We know that I can't emphasize it enough. But why
is he special? Most players were gonna sit at that
wing and wait for a kickout. John realized that he

(59:57):
had a lane that he could cut to to it.
Bigst's got the ball to high post.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
I'll take that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Ye, He's gonna find you if you cut. He cuts,
gets the ball, gets the front rim, misses the layout.
But because the defense is forced to collapse, now all
of a sudden, the offense rebounding is easier. Big Steve
comes in, flushes it home. You got a two point game.
You got some momentum. Now can you get some stops
on this end for.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
The long way to go? Penn State has one time out,
left red guard has two and now Badger's showing like
they may want to try to harass him in the
back court a little bit jovin Carter is now the
Badgers will back off. Carter will slow jogg it right
sideline of the front court. Feats Conan Niederhauser, who bobbles
and Gathers, gives the dune. He'll flip the current top

(01:00:45):
of the circle, loopship the Conan Niederhauser right elbow, hands
off the quarter. Feeding done inside Conan Niederhauser against Gilmore. Spin,
move low on the right, slam, dunk John and Conan
Niederhauser makes it fifty nine to fifty five pence nine
remaining Crow at the free throw line feeds Gilmore throws
it back to Steve. He left open. He'll try it

(01:01:06):
three yes, Sir Stephen Crow is seventeen today, fifty nine
to fifty eight pence day, big time shot.

Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Big, I mean, just there's enough space.

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Let it fly. Get the lid off that bad boy
from long range nine twenty five remaining Penn stayed up
on him with a ball. DeMarco Dunn off the left
wing to the top of the circle. He sends at
the current inside Conan Niederhauser left of the lane, kicks
it back out the current fakes the three drives off
the wing and the lane pushed it up. No good rebound, Jenicky.
Now the Badgers can get the lead back pass ahead

(01:01:38):
to Blackwell. John sends it to Janicky. He'll throw the
crowd between the circles, rotates McGee outside left, Kamari to
the baseline, takes it back out high for Gilmore, throwing
the Blackwell John right of the lane. Bubbs plays on,
throws it up but in for right of the lane.
Blackwell gives Wisconsin the lead.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Yeah, both both both coaches want files last possession. They're
letting him play a.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Forty five to play sixty to fifty nine. Wisconcert turned.
They try a backcut pinball away, ball is loose, picked
up by kraw Here comes Gilmour Leaza for Blackwell on
the right side. Blackwell against dillyon baseline right, takes it
out Janicki for three left side and it hits the
right side iron and out. No good turned the rebound.
With eight twenty five to play, sixty to fifty nine,

(01:02:24):
Wisconsin leads Penn stage, having caught her high on the left.
You'll throw to Freddy Dilly on top of the circle.
DeLeon bounces the done on the right side. You'll feed
Conan Niederhauser. Top of the arc is the Dilion free
throw life. Feed's done. He'll try a three right of
the circle. He splashed it Delmarco done with fifteen sixty
two to sixty. Pence State coming up. About eight minutes

(01:02:44):
left to the Coal center is Blackwell gets fouled as
he crosses oom World was.

Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Looking forth though he wanted to take the foul that
they were getting the call there. The only reason I
I don't. I'll be honest, I don't know why you
do it. I know you want to sell right, I
know you're feeling that way. But with the way that
Wisconsin shoots the ball from the free throw line, you
have just given given them the opportunity to get there
one time earlier.

Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
And you're on the brink of the underage. You know't
want to play. Here's here's John Tanjay outside left. That's
the fifth foul on Penn State. First on Dillyon Jennicki
outside right, sixty two to sixty the Nitney Lions. Here's
Kraal left elbow, row one dribble, hands off the black
Well off the krowscreen slips it in the Steve Low

(01:03:29):
on the left on the reverse up no Good got
his own rebound goes up blocked. My ConA Nederhauser comes
down to DeMarco done right work in side from Penn
States big Man. Seven and a half minutes to play.
Here's done right side, taking a look. One dribble, whips
it left handed to Dillyon at the left point. He'll
throw Tonederhauser left elbow, Theeterhauser backing on, Krowd turns left

(01:03:52):
block pumps. Here's the dun stamps off the three left corner.
Good again and DeMarco don is on fire. In sixty
five to sixty Penn State seven twelve to play. Blackwell
feeds Gilmore. He'll throw to Janicky on the right side
in the crow inside the right elbow. Out that Gilmour
fakes the three. Feeds Janicki kicks to Tanjay John baseline

(01:04:14):
left hanging shooting, missing bud a foul. Tanjay will shoot two.
We'll have the under eights media timeouts. We'll take a break.
Six minutes fifty eight seconds remaining Penn State sixty five,
Wisconsin sixty. This is badger basketball from lear Field. Six
minutes fifty eight seconds remaining here at the Coal Center

(01:04:36):
in Madison, Penn State sixty five, Wisconsin sixty. Ace Baldwin
called with that foul before the media timeout. He has
three fouls, also has seven assists and he has been
a problem as he often is on the defensive end
of the floor. John Tanjay will go to the free
throw line to shoot a pair all do an officially

(01:04:58):
with three steals. It has been his disruptive self.

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Yeah, one of six four as well, so you look
at what he's done, but he still has it has
had an impact in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
John tan Jay looking for his first points of the
second half and he finds it, splashing the first free throw.
Ten points for him here today sixty five sixty one
Penn State. Second free throw coming up for John Eyes.
The rims sends it, hits it, but he's five out

(01:05:34):
of six of the foul line. Sixty five sixty two
in Indy lines. Here comes Ace Baldwin. Baldwin against John
Blackwell up between the arcs. He'll feed Hicks left wing,
going innater houser the screen. Now crowd gets Hicks on
the switch a throat. It done done against Jadicki Now
kraw is on it. Gone with ten to shoot, feeds

(01:05:54):
Dilly on left side, loops it in aneter Hauser against
Gilmour back out that don the lane inside peder Hauser
slammed dunk Dad he has fourteen today, sixty seven sixty
two Penn State.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Too many straight line drives, six minutes and.

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Twenty seconds remaining. Here's Blackwell dribbling outside right. You'll throw
to Gilmore between the arcs order. Gilmore gives it up
to Jinnicky High on the left. I'm on the ball
just along the perimeter. Here Blackwell outside left feeds Gilmore
eight to shoot, Gilmore into Kraal left. Black goes up
right hand, rolling around the rimm and out no good

(01:06:33):
Hicks the rebound for Penn Steak. Now the five point
fifty five remaining, sixty seven sixty two Penn State. Here's
Baldwin throwing the Hicks left point feeds done, left wing
Done to the top of the arc, goes off to
Dillion High and the rights. Freddy Dillon against John Tanjay
Dillon right wing feeds done. Eight to shoot done against

(01:06:54):
Tanjay done hard left handribble down the lane, stops pivot
shooting and it bounces it in for DeMarco Dunn. Sixty
nine to sixty two Penn State.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Penn State's still in the zone to keep moving the
basketball though five twenty two remaining.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Tanjay into Janicki at the right block and he brings
it back out to the wing, bounces the Blackwell. He'll
try a three right corner. Good. They dearly need a
triple for Blackwell. In the Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
Six ball got to the short corner.

Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
There's Baldwin left of the lane. Sixty nine sixty five
Penn Stak coming up on five minutes to play. Baldwin
driving on Janicki low on the left, turns it out.
Dillion right of the circle, feeds Hicks left side. He'll
try a three airball caught by Blackwell one hundred eighth
and here comes John on the push. Blackwell to the
line down the lane was so and fouled by Dillion
before the ball left his hands before he went into

(01:07:49):
the shooting motion. Now on Dillion is his second and
that's team found number seven and with four forty eight
to play with before.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
He talked about taking that one with eight oh one left.
Now you're in there with four forty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
So Blackwell and eighty one percent free throw shooter McGhee
and for Jinicky. Now one in one for Blackwell is good.
He earns the bonus. Sixty nine sixty six Pence Skak
with four minutes and forty eight seconds remaining, second free
throw for John Blackwell on the way good again. Sixty

(01:08:28):
nine sixty seven the Nitney Lions. I'm gonna see if
the Badgers can string some stops. As they come to
their feet here at the Coal Center, there's Ace Baldwin
walking it through the mid court logo high screen, Conan Nederhaeuser,
Baldwin fans to his right, loosing up the Hicks top
of the circle, rotates the done whistle inside. They're gonna

(01:08:50):
get Gillmore and Niederhauser. They got tangled up there. I
think Gilly was trying to campaign for a hook in
a hole, but the fowl's going to be on no
more or either that or an elbow to the neck whatever.
But Carter didn't get that either. He just picked up
the foul and there was a lot to be honest
him clad they're not reviewing it. It's there. There's a

(01:09:11):
lot of contact. It's a two point game with four
point thirty one to play. Penn State lead. Sixty nine
sixty seven. Conan nieder Hauser gets the inbound pass left
in the lane into pay. Look like you might have
got away with a walk through up one and hit
the right side and Iron no good. Crowd secures ahead
to Blackwell, John off the left wing in the lane,
goes to the goal shot blocked, no goaltending called. Here

(01:09:32):
comes DeMarco Done left of the lane against Tanjay, con
and Niederhauser with another big time block on that drive.
Ace Baldwin at the edge of the center circle. Four
h five to play. Baldwin driving, it's fouled and they're
gonna get Kamarie McGee and it's gonna be his fourth

(01:09:52):
and team found number six four to oh two remaining
sixty nine xty seven Penn State. It was very close
in that rejection, very close to hitting the backboard first
on that drive, but they didn't call it, so you
can't review it. Ace Baldwin sideline right, we'll inbound. McGee

(01:10:14):
sits down, Janicky back in four minutes to play Penn
State up two. Here's done for three straight away good
again and DeMarco Don with his four to three point
hit today seventy two sixty seven Penn State, three forty
eight remaining. John Tanjay outside right, he's it for Blackwell
right Quarner for three. Back at you, John Blackwell with

(01:10:35):
a triple seventy two to seventy Penn State. Here's Baldwin
the other way running into Janicki, but they say Jack
did not get there in time. He has called for
the block and the Wisconsin bench reacting the way you
think it might after an either or call goes against
the Badgers. We got a break in the action, the
under four media timeout. Down to the wire. We go

(01:10:56):
three p thirty six to play Penn Stage seventy two
Wisconsin seventy. This is Badger basketball from Deerfield and Lamarco
Dunk came in shooting forty three percent for three over
his last thirteen games. He's on fire today four or
five for three, nine of eleven overall, a game high
twenty three points and with three minutes and thirty six

(01:11:18):
seconds remaining at the Cole Center in Madison, Penn State
leads Wisconsin seventy two to seventy.

Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
Foul.

Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
By the way, on Jack Janicki going into the media
timeout is his fourth and the team's seventh, so both
teams are in the bonus. Jamiki stays in the game,
Lamari McGee has four. He remains on the bench, so
joining Janicki are Blackwell, Gilmour, Tanjay and Krow and Freddy
Dillyon as seventy percent free throw shooter at the line

(01:11:49):
for a one and one. We talked about why this
game is so important.

Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Double bye is what you're trying to play for, and
we're gonna set You're playing on Friday instead of a Thursday.

Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
You're down by two to three thirty six, go get
it ready, billion five points here this afternoon front end
of the one and one and rattles through two timeouts
available for Wisconsin, one for Penn State. Wisconsin has the
possession arrow, Penn State has a three point lead. Ready

(01:12:17):
Dillyon with a second free throw. It is on the
way and it's good. Seventy four to seventy Penn State
and bounds past to Blackwell. Dillon picks him up three
quarter pressure two two one. Jack Janicki sizes it up,
breaks the midstripe on the right side, throwing the crowd
right block, turns, goes up back rim no good the
rebound a Hicks three twenty to play seventy four to

(01:12:42):
seventy Penn State. Baldwin out high takes it out high
on the right, a soft bounce inside lowing the right
and finishing is done. He has twenty five seventy six
to seventy Penn State, three to zero five remaining. Blackwell,
he's it for Gilmore throwing at Janicki on the left wing,

(01:13:04):
so Nicky flips the Tanjay fakes the three right at
Lena step back, tough three that's off the back of
the rim. No good and the rebound of Zach Hicks
of Penn State and chopping at it was Carter Gilmore
has called for the foul. That was just like a
frustration shot there from John Tanjay. He continues to really

(01:13:25):
struggle with his shot here these last few games, two
forty six remaining, seventy six to seventy Penn State leading Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
So yes, he's continuing to you know, struggle a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
But that last shot just that's why you're struggling right now.
Oh yeah, like that that's just.

Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Not a good shot, and I get the frustration. But
with two forty six.

Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
Six, Zach kicks with the one in one and he'll
earn the bonus as he hits the first make it
seventy seven to seventy Penn Stay with two forty six
remaining fix an eighty percent free throws shooters. Second attempt
is short rebound Tanjay four Wisconsin and it comes John

(01:14:09):
up the four for the Badger's Penn State. Still hassling
in the back court, John gets it to the front
court to thirty five to play Blackwell high on the left.
John out between the circles. He's at the Tanja right side.
Tanjay loops at the crowd. He'll catch baseline right, skips
at the McGee left corner, shot, fake drives baseline left,

(01:14:30):
tough reverse laymp no. But he drew the foul and
McGee will go to the foul line with two twenty
one to play Badgers down seventh.

Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
But that sit it for the whole second half. Those
are the drives and attack shot fake.

Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Look, it's amazing, but against zone ball finkes, shot finkes,
that's how you create the advantage. Once you create that advantage,
you've won against the zone. There hasn't been enough of
that to be able to put pressure.

Speaker 2 (01:14:53):
On the rim. They get Yanni Conan Niederhauser with his
third foul. Here's Kamari McGee shooting two and he missed
the first ten points for Kamari and they came early
in this game, but he better than eighty four percent
of the foul ie not a ton of attempts now

(01:15:13):
and twenty seven to thirty three for the season. That
he's been very good at the line. But he missed
the first second one coming on the way, and that's good.
Sometimes it gets too quiet in.

Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
The building, but does we have not seen We've seen
Nolan winter for a little bit, but we've seen I'm tried,
but he has not really come back and had that
since that he left.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
With that shoulder. Janicki in for Krow as the Badgers
go smaller, as Hicks will end down to Ace Baldwin.
Baldwin with two eighteen to play, seventy seven to seventy one,
Penn state Baldwin across the mid stripe on the right side,
Hicks the high screen. Baldwin still pounds the dribble out
between the arcs against Janicky with fifteen to shoot, two

(01:15:55):
oh five to play, Hicks going a Dillyano left side
swoops off the wing, steps back left elbow jumper, no
good rebound Conan Niederhauser and he gets fouled inside and
again the Badgers with that smaller lineup. It is a
tough deal. There is Carter Gilmore picks up his third
foul and that his team found number nine.

Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
And that's why I brought up the new we haven't
seen Nolan because we've really seen that growth from him.

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Now Big Steve comes back in.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
But that's a lineup where I would have expected Nolan
Winter in the game. And just I don't think you know,
it's quite all there. And what I should say is
an upper body injury.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Thirteen points, ten rebounds for Yannick Conan Niederhauser. This is
a one in one front end is no good rebound.
Kraw won fifty seven A place seventy seven to seventy
one Penn State. Here's Blackwell left sideline to the front
court high screen crow. Blackwell took a look, turned it down,
flips to Tanjay John off the left wing, darst Janicki.

(01:16:56):
John right of the circle, kills the dribble. Lea's it
for Tanja thirteen to shoot one forty to play Blackwell
top of the circle. He'll snap off of three off
the rim, short long rebound. Baldwin and Blackwell collide. It's
out of bounds and now get the foul on John Blackwell,
that'll be his third with a minute thirty four remaining,

(01:17:16):
and that's team found number ten. So Penn State is
in the double bonus seventy seven seventy one the nty
lines and he's Baldwin quiet in terms of his scoring,
but he has nine assists in this game, five rebounds,

(01:17:36):
three steals. He shoots two and he is good with
the first.

Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Scott's at three of thirteen from three in the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Ten of thirty for the game seventy eight to seventy one.
Penn State with a minute thirty four to play. Second
free throw is short Blackwell the rebound coming up with
the final ninety seconds, Badger's down seven. Here's toime Jay
John left of the lane, stops a bit post, floats
it up, missed off the right side iron rebound Zach
Hicks and now Baldwin in the back court against Janicki.

(01:18:09):
Hits by Jack across half court for DeMarco Dunn and
Penn State in a position to all but close this
one out, leading by seven with a minute ten to play,
Andrew's playing this through. Baldwin just holds it down to
ten on the shot clock. Al Baldwin puts it on
the deck outside right, one minute to play, five to

(01:18:29):
shoot a throw to Hicks. Bibbles gets there off the
right wing reverse layup, no but a foul. With fifty
six point four seconds remaining and the fifty six point
four seconds to play, two more free throws coming up
for Penn State as John Blackwell picks up his fourth

(01:18:50):
foul and Zach Kicks is back to the free throw line.
Seventy eight to seventy one Penn State, as Hicks will
make the first free throw, and you look at this again.

Speaker 3 (01:19:05):
Offensively struggles, but defense of that second half, I can
give up forty four now you know forty five. Yeah,
that's that's where you're gonna look. Because it also allowed
Penn State to get into what the two to two
one and into the zone bore.

Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
There's Tan Jay with the Badgers down nine. Blackwell to
the line, down the langos to the rim, missed the
shot and a foul is cold and as Blackwell will
earn free throws, Mike Rhoades, looking for the offensive foul,
didn't get that. Forty eight point two seconds to play,
eighty to seventy one Penn State. The Badgers got the

(01:19:48):
help they were looking for last night, but they're not
helping themselves here today is Blackwell hits the first free throw.
Hard Gilmore will come back in replacing Krow. Forty eight
point two seconds remaining, eighty to seventy two Penn States.
Second free throw coming up for Blackwell. Another good performance

(01:20:11):
for him as he hits the second. Badgers put the
press on down seven in bounding it, McGee trying to
knock it away. Baldwin gathers he'll throw it over to Freddy.
Dillon fees deer hauserback the de Leon lays it up
and in his Penn State just carved that up eighty
two to seventy three Penn State. Forty seconds left now.
Blackwell gets fouled by Hicks with thirty nine point one

(01:20:34):
seconds to play, and Tanjay and John Tanjay will go
to the line for two and.

Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Wisconsin hasn't scored in the last three minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
That beats it.

Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
I know you're down nine, crazy ere thing's gonna happen,
but if you're gonna do it, you gotta do it
by get into the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
That's what they've done at least. First free throw for
Tanjay is good. Twelve points for John All at the
free throw line, or make that all three of his
points in the second half at the free throw line.
Eighty two to seventy four. Penn State. Second free throw
for Tanjay is good eighty two seventy five, thirty nine

(01:21:13):
seconds to play. They get it into Baldwin quickly. McGee
trying to rip it away. I pass out to Dillion,
who got by Tanjay. Dillion Lobsneeder Hawser sends it down
hard eighty four to seventy five. Penn State down to
thirty seconds remaining. Jack Janicki outside right feeds Tanjay, splits
two defenders, John Low on the right bank that missed it.

(01:21:35):
Neeter Hauser the rebound knocked away. Hicks will gather and
he's found. We're eighteen point nine to play, and the
Penn State Nidney Lyons, a team that will not qualify
for the Big Ten Tournament, is rolling into the Coal
Center and ruining senior day for the Wisconsin Badgers. Gotta

(01:21:56):
give them credit. Well, you.

Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
I talked about it, you know before the game started.
I said, do they have their plane tickets balking for
spring break or do they play?

Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
I don't think they've bought any Plaine tickets. They that question,
that's that's we got to give him credit. And we
heard Mike Rhodes talk about, Hey, I don't think it's
fair that every team doesn't get a chance to play.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
We've heard that.

Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
Dialog, and yep, you know the best way to follow
up when your coach has your back is go play
as hard as you can.

Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
And that's exactly what they've done. First free throw is
good for Hicks. Penn State about to do something that
no Penn State team has done, and that's win at
the Coal Center. They were zero for nineteen coming into
this game. Hicks makes both free throws, eighty six seventy
five Penn stay with eighteen seconds remaining, here's Kamari McGee

(01:22:44):
outside left. He'll let fly of three on the wing
and that's an air ball caught by a Hicks. I
head to de Leon uncontested dunk if he wants it,
but he turns it down. He'll dribble out the clock
and the Penn State Nitney Lyons will win in Madison
for the first time in thirty US. It's over at
the Coal Center. Now, the Badgers started out so hot offensively,

(01:23:13):
led by thirteen at forty to twenty seven. Penn State
had an eight point run to in the half, and
then Penn State just hit Wisconsin in the face in
the second half, putting fifty one of that's that's what
jump second.

Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
I mean that that's where it was, and we talked
about it. You saw this coming. It was on the
defensive end because they were able to score the basketball
at the rate they scored it. It allowed them to
get into the two two to one zone and then
fall back into the zone, and Wisconsin just didn't have

(01:23:46):
enough ball movement to be able.

Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
To capitalize on that zone.

Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
And because of that, you know, now you're sitting here
and ended up playing on Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
Yeah it stings, but they have the conference tournament ahead
of them and then they.

Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
Yeah, you'd rather have this one right now tonight, then
you know, in the Big Ten tournament or even the
NCAA tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
You know, obviously things to work on. And then also
storylines here involving Max Klusman hopefully getting back and then
Nolan Winter a big storyline there with that upper body
injury there in this game, and we saw him get
very limited time when he tried to come back from that.
So a tough one here for the Badgers in their

(01:24:31):
home finale. Is Penn State wins it eighty six to
seventy five. We'll be back with the Wisconsin Ford Dealers
post game show in a couple of minutes. This is
Badger basketball from lear Field. It's pass keeping cleared off
the deck here as we picked today's Old Dominion best
in the game, brought to you by Old Dominion Freightline.
Old Dominion Freightline works hard to be the best of
the game. It is proud to be the official freight

(01:24:52):
carrier of Wisconsin Athletics. His final whole appearance, Stephen Krow
with nineteen points here this afternoon, four rebounds eight to
fift team from the floor, bitter suits. A day for crowd,
the seniors and the Badgers, though, as they lose to
Penn State eighty six to seventy five. You gotta dust

(01:25:13):
yourself off, but you're gonna be ended up playing a
day earlier than you thought. Yeah, I hoped in the
Big Ten tournament next week and.

Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
This one is frustrating. The Oregon one was a snowball effect.
This one you saw coming early on and the adjustments
that need to be made to get to the paint
just didn't happen fast enough. So that's the offensive side,
but the defensive side, and they were seven to twenty
from lamps. Yeah right again, right, that's now been about
three different three games in a row. We're finishing around

(01:25:44):
the rim just hasn't been.

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
To the level that you needed to be at.

Speaker 3 (01:25:49):
Yeah, okay, So that's the offensive side. I thought when
they did get it, they missed some laps. Now, credit
Penn State. They used their length to make some of
those lambs hard. It wasn't like they were just pointing
blank labs. But there's still limbs. But you look at
the second half box score and you look at how
many points they put up, fifty one.

Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
Now, I mean right here has steadily improved, there's no question.

Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
And to me, that's the area that I look at,
and it was points in the paint thirty eight to
twenty six. So it wasn't like, I mean, I know,
done got off a little bit. He's three of four
in the second half from three, made some pretty tough
shots even when that happened, But Penn State was still
only six of eleven from three this was coming at

(01:26:37):
the rent and I think that to me is what
I look at. I said, they had thirty eight of them,
twenty four of them in the second half. Yeah, that's
the area. You can talk offense. We can talk about
not making shots, we can talk about, you know, the
second half. As far as what Wisconsin did from three,
you know, that doesn't matter to me. It's got to
be fixed points in the paint. It's gotta be tough

(01:27:00):
for second half Wisconsin three. They were only three of
fourteen for three. But you gotta be able whate of
that's someone.

Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
Yeah, which we have seen them do absolutely a couple
of games in this stretch. But yeah, they continue to
be cold from there. But this was just a game
where Penn State came in and just flat out carved
them up for at the end of the first half
and on into the second. DeMarco Dunn was nearly perfect today,
twenty five points, ten to twelve in the field, four
to five from the three point line. This is the

(01:27:28):
Wisconsin flod Dealers postgame show as Penn State defeats Wisconsin
here this afternoon eighty six to seventy five. We'll have
more as our postgame coverage continues. This is Badger Basketball
from lear Field. Postgame coverage continues our Wisconsin Ford Dealers
postgame shows Penn States takes down Wisconsin this afternoon eighty
six to seventy five. Before we move on, let's pause

(01:27:51):
ten seconds for station identification. Ten for an ID. This
is Badger Basketball from lear Field. Talked about a storyline
in the coming days now for a Badger team, it could,
depending on other outcomes, fit go into the tournament Big
Ten Tournament as a sixth seat with all the tie
breakers going on. UCLA playing usc You got Maryland hosting
the Northwestern they game about the tip off. You know,

(01:28:14):
you're in the NCAA tournament, but you've got to get
yourself ready first for the Big Ten Tournament, and you know,
trying to see what you could get with next Klesbant
and now Nolan Winter. I don't suspect we would know
a whole lot here today. Obviously we'll meant ask it,
ask Greg what he knows or what he can tell us,
but the answer is probably not much. Right now. He
tried to get back into the game, but it just

(01:28:35):
wasn't wasn't gonna work for well.

Speaker 3 (01:28:36):
I think that's the biggest thing right now, we've unfortunately,
we've seen teams that have you know, gone down that
wrong road due to injuries. Now, get healthy, man, that's
the reality with with where they're at right now. Get healthy.
See where Nolan's at, see where Max is at, and
just start rolling here. I mean, you gotta get back

(01:28:57):
into it. You gotta tap into it. And the best
thing about it is, even though you know now you
now play Thursday, you play again, and that's you know,
and if this happens to the Big ten tournament, you're
done with a tournament. It happens then tournament, your season's over. Yeah,
so you still have more games ahead of you. And
that's the that's the I guess that's my biggest takeaway.

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Well, when something like this happens late in the season.
Again with Nolan, we you know he tried to come
back in and but when injuries happened, especially late, I
break out in a cold sweat for you because you
you live that. So if I'm doing I can only
imagine what runs through your mind when when all of this.
But that's the you know, injuries are bad at any time,
but especially the year.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
It's just it's terrible because you've when you've played all
year long with that group. No, I don't think, and
I'll say we don't know, but at least I mean,
it did not look like it was one of those
when you we've seen some that you said, Okay, he's
not coming back for a while, we'll see where this
is at.

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
But it did not look like that immediately. But again,
as we mentioned towards the end of the game, a
ton of credit to Pence State. They get tremendous balance
to Marco Dunn with a big time game twenty five points,
Jonni Conan Niederhauser fifteen points, eleven rebounds, five blocked shots
in the game here today. Zach Kicks ends up with
fourteen points, Nick Kurn with twelve, Stevin Krauk and John

(01:30:18):
Blackwell each with nineteen for Wisconsin, john Tonjay with thirteen.
It's been a tougher go here in recent games for
John and you would imagine that he's at the top
of the scouting report and today just two to thirteen
for the field. He did have seven rebounds. Kamari McGee
with eleven points, ten of those in the first half.
Nold and Winter before he went out, ends up seven

(01:30:39):
points six rebounds, Carter Gilmour with four points six, Xavier
Amos with two. Penn States defeats Wisconsin eighty six to
seventy five, and we continue. We'll check out the Nissan
out of Town scoreboard. We'll check out some of the
top twenty five games today, and a heartbreaker in Milwaukee
for Marquette. We'll tell you about it as our post
game coverage continues. This is Badger basketball from lear Field.

(01:31:04):
Our post game coverage continues as Penn State defeats Wisconsin
this afternoon eighty six to seventy five. Other scorers in
the top twenty five. A gut punch for Marquette. Saint
John's in buzzer beating fashion, but buzzer beating fashion defeated
Marquette at Pfizer Forum eighty six to eighty four. I
will say about Marquette what we say about Wisconsin. Got

(01:31:25):
another game, They've got the Big East Tournament, They're in
the NCAA tournament, so they'll be dusting themselves off, and
they're a very good team and get themselves ready and
get back to play, and the way they have for
a good chunk of this season. Elsewhere, other finals of
the top twenty five number nineteen. Kentucky outscored fifteenth rank
Missouri ninety one to eighty three. It was Arkansas defeating

(01:31:48):
twenty fifth ranked Mississippi States ninety three ninety two. Coach
cal with the big win for the Hogs today. Other
games in progress about ten minutes remaining is in Manha,
Kansas the Little Apple, as they say. Iowa State leads
k State fifty three to thirty eight. Tennessee and South
Carolina tied at thirty four at the half. Alabama leading

(01:32:12):
Auburn thirty one to twenty six in a little less
than seven minutes left in the first half at halftime.
Louisville leads Stanford thirty three to eighteen. Early on in
College Park, Northwestern leading Maryland nine to six, and again
they're just getting started there about three and a half
minutes into that game. Later today you got Ohio State

(01:32:35):
in Indiana, and then later on this evening it is
usc taken on UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. Penn State wins
here this afternoon eighty six seventy five. Butch, you and
I will continue with our Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show
in a couple of minutes. This is Badger basketball from
lear Field, Iowas consent Ford Dealers postgame show continues as
Penn State defeats Wisconsin eighty six to seventy five and

(01:32:59):
Indy Lion was fifty six percent shooting for the game,
sixty percent in the second half. You go through a
bunch of numbers, but you touched on the I could
tell you the what, you could tell me the why. Yeah,
we just said that those paint touches. Paint touches were
not happening nearly often enough for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
Oh, not offensively right. And I thought a couple of
things they didn't do is work the high post. I
thought there was a couple of times. Now part of
that was just you know, Nolan not being in there
at times, some different lineups because Max Klusman is out,
so just trying to figure that out. The other area
that they didn't touch a lot of was really that
short corner. They got that short corner action a couple

(01:33:39):
of times and it led to John Blackwell corner threes
because the defense collapsed and they were able to spray that.
But they didn't get that. They definitely didn't get enough
of that short cornered high post. Then defensively for me, well,
I talked a lot about there's too much space, right
Like I've said that a lot in this game, and
there were way too many straight lines drives. Because the

(01:34:01):
straight line drives, what then happen is the lobs happened
because there was a lot of lobs. There's a lot
of finishes at the basket. And what happens with straight
line drives to a defense is it forces defenses to collapse.
So when the defense then collapse, now all of a sudden,
when the balls sprayed out, even if you don't make
the lamp or take a shot at the rim, there's

(01:34:23):
one extra pass out that creates another closeout, and now
all of a sudden, you're in scramble mode. And that's
when Penn State was able to bang a couple of threes.
So when you allow straight line drives, nothing good happens,
whether it's a finish at the rim, whether it's a closeout,
another close out that's forced.

Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
Just nothing good happens.

Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
And there was a lot of those in that second half,
and that's how you give up fifty one.

Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
I means this game is not that hard. So other
teams will be taking notes not just next week, but
more importantly in two weeks well, and I think because
of that.

Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
And then this is where now we've seen it a
little bit pop a heeado is when you're not scoring
the ball offensively, when you're not making shots, the one
thing that can't do.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
Is affect your defense.

Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
And it's we've, like I said, a couple of games,
we've seen it get mucky on the offensive side and
it trickled down to the other side. You can't and
that's one of those things that this group needs to
buckle in on. And that's not coaching. I mean, I
hate say it like that, but that's a that's that's

(01:35:36):
there you're sitting in the chair players, that's the one
that you've got to try to say. Now, I get
people saying we'll do this, but in the end, it's
it's hey, I got your back, you got my back.

Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
We're not doing it this time.

Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
We got to make sure we do it on that.
And now this is you just touched on it. You know,
the coaches will point out the corrections.

Speaker 1 (01:35:54):
To be because it's been shown.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
This is where there's the x's and o's and we've
used the word culture a lot, but it comes into
play here, right just hey, you buckle up, let's go.
Let's you know, it's proved to everybody. What happened is
the exception of the rule. I mean, they went through
the regular season with a thirteen and seven Big Ten
mark in twenty three and eight, which is a lot

(01:36:18):
better than people thought. They were picked to finish twelfth
in the Big Ten. They could end up as low
as a six seed. But this was a team that, certainly,
I don't know its own expectations. They might tell you
something different, but in the outside looking in, they have
exceeded that. But now they just got to get this,
get this corrected. And you're spot on obviously about trying

(01:36:40):
to fix things on the defensive end. But this team
is really struggling to shoot the ball well over the
last five minutes. It really has. Yeah, it's sitting here
at just thirty two made threes in some one hundred
and thirty three attempts here over the last or thirty
seven made threes over that. So you're talking about a
low percentage for a team that for more most of

(01:37:00):
the year in Big Ten play was in the upper third.

Speaker 3 (01:37:03):
One there was the best I mean for a long time,
they're there with the best. Right now, you look at
how they've gone about it. I mean it's just in general,
you're even three point percent, it's still their second in
Big Ten play.

Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
Like so, I mean it's not like that's how well
they've shot it.

Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
So, yes, they have struggled over the last five there's
we can't can't lie about that.

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Numbers are what the numbers are. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
I think some of that, though, Matt has been because
of the type of shots that they've taken and the
type of threes. Yeah, and they've been a little bit
different than what they've been taking. And I think that's
where guys need to figure it out, you know. I remember,
I mean, how many times do we say, wow, that's
a fours three because he's on a heater, that's all.
That's the first time we've said it was a bad shot.

Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
Yes, he said that a lot this year.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
Over the last four games or five games or so,
we've kind of said, oh, maybe not the best shot. Yeah, right,
So I mean that's why, and there's a reason why.
It's not like they become bad shooters here, right. I
would say it's more of the quality of shot of three.

Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
All right, we'll take one more break. We'll hope to
check in with head coach Greg Guard here as Penn
State wins it here this afternoon at the Cole Center
over the Badgers eighty six to seventy five. Back with
more of our Wisconsin Ford Dealers postgame show in one minute.
This is Badger basketball from their field. Our Wisconsin Ford
Dealers postgame show continues as Penn State defeats the Badgers

(01:38:29):
here this afternoon, eighty six to seventy five. Butcher and
I are just we're stretching, as we call it, and
the broadcast biz, I'm still waiting on a coach Guard. Obviously,
you think an emotional locker room, and they've got to
try to, you know, get gathered here, get healthy, get
themselves ready for postseason. But example, the script doesn't always

(01:38:50):
play out the way the way you try to write it.

Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
No, And I think this is one of those where
it's a realization too is and we got away with
one as far as not sticking to the principles, doing
what we're supposed to do.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
We still get to play again.

Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
This happens the next game we play, we're done in
the tournament, and then if it happens one more time,
we're done for the season, and we've had too good
of a team. We've got too good of a group,
got too many good kids in his locker room. We
got to make a choice. And I think that's kind
of probably if I'm coach guard. That's kind of the messaging.
It's not one of those of yelling and who and
hollering and doing.

Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
That, but it's more of a hey, like, we know
what needs to happen.

Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
We're still a really good basketball team, but we can't
allow this to be and we can't be allowed, you know,
to be okay with this either. We need to be
and hold ourselves to the standards that we all expect
ourselves to hold you to be.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
It's about getting healthy and getting fixed what needs fixing.
And the one I think one of the words that
is among the more overused terms in media circles is
momentum in a general sense game to game. And I
say that because I think a narrative will be well,
Wisconsin is bumbling, bumbling into the postseason. They've you know,

(01:40:03):
they've lost some games here down the stretch. There have
been a ton of examples, all going all the way
back to last year, North Carolina State lost its last
four games of the regular season with nine and eleven
in the ACC, had to play its way into the
NCAA Tournament. Won five games, went to the NCAA Tournament,
and then obviously advanced to the Final four. There have

(01:40:26):
been other examples in the last ten to fifteen years
of teams that have not exactly had a great head
of steam going into the postseason and then something happens.

Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
And that's where for me you took about the importance
of the Big Ten Tournament. I still think it's really
important to go there and try to win it.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
I know tired legs, I get, that's a real thing
I do. But just based on teams that I played on,
like we got to Sunday, we might not have always
won it, well we won too, but we got to
Sunday playing really well. Like even though we lost, we
were pissed we lost Sunday because we lost a championship.
But I did feel like there was carry over to
the nc tournament. And I know at times our legs

(01:41:10):
got heavy. But as one of those Henry, our trainer,
you know, would always say, okay, we're good, like you
guys are good like you might not like, but but
it was we were playing good.

Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
And butchery and oh eight, you guys did win it
all on Sunday and after an overtime emotionally charged rally
to be Michigan State. And then you went on to
the Sweet sixteen.

Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
And so we ran into a guy called Steph Otherwise,
And I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, I thought we matched
up really well well with the Kansas team ended up
winning it. So and if we weren't tired of the
Sweet sixteen, no, right, like, there's enough to get through that.
And I think that's where this group's depth sets them
up well. But I do think I think it's really

(01:41:50):
important for them to come to go to Indianapolis and
play well.

Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Now people will say, well, last year they played, well,
look what happened to the round one? Okay, like, but
I just think where they're going some momentum and not
momentum but just okay.

Speaker 2 (01:42:07):
Yeah. And the other thing too. The last year, you know,
the dead legs possible. But I just remember after that
big ten tournament. The next day, I'm sitting down and
talking to a couple of players, Tyler Wall and Max
Plesban and it was they they got up off their
chairs the way I do, and I'm old and unathletic,

(01:42:27):
and I thought, oh, I mean they were hurting. They
were playing hurt. Nobody's telling you you live this stuff
feels great. But these guys were banged up, dealing with stuff.
And then they ran into a team that was a
good team, was a very confident team, and one that
loved the matchup against Wisconsin and was was physical. Wisconsin

(01:42:50):
wasn't and it was a bad night.

Speaker 1 (01:42:55):
But I do think that just the ability on the
depth of this team sets them up a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (01:43:01):
I do. I think it sets them up a little
bit better.

Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
And for you know, like the groups I played on
we had, I mean, we had a lot of depth
and that allowed us to do that.

Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
Yes, so we're holding here for a little This is
longer than normal Network post game show. We'll we'll check
in with with coach guard here in the hopefully in
the next next couple of minutes. Is again, all this
stuff has to play out now through the rest of
the Big Ten schedule going in. Yeah, the only thing
you know is Thursday, Yeah, Northwest Northwestern Leeds, Maryland. A

(01:43:36):
little bit of a grinder through the first eleven minutes
of that game, fifteen to twelve. But you look at
the you know the other games the USC, UCLA, UCLA
could pull into this what could end up being a
four way tie. Yeah, Ohio State Indiana. That's gonna tip
off in about twenty minutes. That is a huge game
in Bloomington, Indiana and Ohio State both trying to get

(01:43:57):
that resume is as wrong as possible. And they depending
on who who you trust, who you believe in the
projections or are they last four in or they first
four out. It's part of the fun of this right now.
I don't think those staffs would say the word fun, yeah,
but it's as Yeah. Coach Guard making his way out

(01:44:19):
here now, and we'll keep it obviously relatively brief is
and just a tough day here for the Badgers. They
got off to such a good start, but the Nitney
Lyons stormed back. They closed the first half with a
flourish and that carries over to the second half in
route to an eighty six seventy five win against the
Wisconsin Badgers. So Coach Guard making his way over. We'll

(01:44:41):
check in with him momentarily as he settles in, gets
the headset on, and we will get going as the
Badgers will be getting ready for next week's Big Ten
conference tournaments. And suppose coach a lot of things that
you would tell your team, but not the least of
which is you're playing again, and then you're gonna play again.
After that there's dust off.

Speaker 4 (01:45:01):
And yeah, yeah, I mean this is obviously, you know,
just credit to Penn State. You know, I thought they
were more aggressive, they were more physical, and the game
really turned at the end of the first half. I thought,
you know, we had a thirteen point lead and we
go ten possessions, don't score. They go on an eight
o' run and ended the half with the three that

(01:45:21):
we were too soft on the ball, and Baldwin hits
the three. Actually he's only bucket of the game, and
it just gave them a lot of confidence, a lot
of momentum going into halftime. And I just I didn't
like other than the first few minutes, I didn't like
what I saw defensively. I didn't think we had the
same bite to us and fight to us, and we
could never seem to get them under control and get

(01:45:44):
the ball under control. You know, we were running underneath
some screens, but done once he got going, you know,
just you know, I didn't like how we competed and
and you know, so that's as I told the team,
that's we're lucky. I mean, this, this stings, This isn't fun,

(01:46:06):
but we'll have opportunities to see how we respond, and
we're gonna have one whenever we play next week. And
we've got to be much better, you know, We've got
to be better in terms of just simple things that
we weren't good enough at today.

Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
Yeah, it looked like it.

Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
To me, like there's a lot of you know, downhill
drives and all of a sudden they're getting in there now,
all of a sudden, they've got layups, they've got lives.
And when you give a team like Penn State, who
knows this is their last game some confidence right now
of a sudden, you got your hands full, and that's kind.

Speaker 2 (01:46:34):
Of you could like you talked about that.

Speaker 3 (01:46:36):
Yeah, what happened offensively, it just at times kind of
looked like it got a little mucky.

Speaker 4 (01:46:42):
It did, you know, with some of their you know,
playing within the zone stuff and some switching and then
the ball goes to the high post and they go
man to man, and you know, I thought we had
some good looks too, even in the first half, some
really good looks, you know. And when we did pull
it inside, we scored a little bit in there, but
not near as much as what we should have, not
near as we were we were two.

Speaker 2 (01:47:01):
We didn't go at the rim, We didn't go at
that seven of twenty four layups. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:47:05):
Yeah, it just we didn't come with any physicality and
we were we were flipping things and trying to finesse
shoot things instead of going to really drawing contact and
drawing the file making them follow us. Like I said,
I just, uh, I'll go through the tape and watch things.
But you know, I know the the mood right now
in the locker room is not good and it shouldn't
be good because that was not a good performance.

Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
Well, another thing that every program in America getting ready
for postseason, everybody holds his breath about his health. Yeah,
and Max obviously working his way back, and then Nolan
any uh tell us, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:47:38):
I mean, obviously he came back in and when I
put him back in, I didn't think he looked like
he was ready for what was coming. So I don't
know he's you meet with our doctors and stuff, you
know here and see where where he's at with stuff.
But uh, like I said, it's yeah, we gotta get healthy,
but we there's got to be a response, a better

(01:47:59):
response than what I saw it today.

Speaker 2 (01:48:01):
Appreciate your time, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:48:02):
Thanks, Hey, congratulations on the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
Thank you, sir. You well deserved. I scored no points,
no rebounds, no assis. But okay, well you guys make
it easy for us put it that way. Well we
didn't today. Well, you're a great group of people, all right,
it goes beyond that, so appreciate you man. Thanks Greg.
All Right, Badger's getting ready now for the Big Ten
tournament next week, as Penn State wins it here this afternoon,
eighty six to seventy five.
