On the Badger Sports Network from LeaFields, setting the left side, Martin
checked it again and it's over. You'll hear save us all. With the
fourth straight season, the Wisconsin Patchersare big eggs heads. This is with
sconsin Volleyball for the Big Park inthe Middle, put to you by good

(00:27):
Month's Jewelers providing sparkle to medisine.Since nineteen thirty three scottson pass to original
semi finals. That's twenty straight winsand ten straight seasons a sweet sixteen success.
No, here's the voice of whichSconson Volleyball, John Odious Arizona.

(00:55):
Tonight, UW try to remain perfecton the season when they host Miami.
From the History kW field House,John Audius and Pete wait with you.
It's number one Wisconsin versus the MiamiHurricanes. And serving was big for the
Badgers last night, eleven aces total. So why were they able to be
so dominant behind the service line? Here? Said coach Kelly Sheffield. Timmy,

(01:17):
she was fantastic, wasn't she?Wells just for six aces? I
mean I think she had two orthree overpasses and got a few free balls
as well. And you know, one of the things I laugh about it,
like when she has service here isthe entire field house. Oh it's
are you kidding me? I meanshe's plays scoring at between sixty five and

(01:38):
seventy percent last night, and youknow, if you're over fifty you I
mean, I mean, that's that'sincredible. I mean, certainly we're shooting
for over fifty, but over fortythree is is we one and everybody to
be when they were in the highsixties. That's that's a pretty good place.
So, yeah, her serve waspretty filthy. She had six of

(01:59):
those eleven serve essaysist now Uli alwaysJoe got another start at Libero. After
the match. We talked to her. Pete and I talked to her last
night and she said at times,as far as adjusting to that position,
just trying to find the rhythm isone thing that she thinks she can get
better at. And one thing shesaid she's trying to figure out is how
to stay focused when she's not beingtargeted. Pete seemed to mention it's probably

(02:20):
a good thing if you're not beingtargeted that much. But how did you
see her and how have you seenher developed there? Improving? I mean
one of the things. I mean, she's got a hitter's mentality, you
know, and so you know, you get up there and you take big
rips at the ball, and youknow, and and uh and blocking that
you can have a shorter memory ofwhat happened previously. You know, you're

(02:42):
you know, she's used to endingplays well, the libero position rarely is
ending a play and a and ayou know when it's positive and so it's
a it's it's a different mentality thanthan what you would what you would think.
I mean, a lot of herjoy out on the court was was
taking big swings. I've been realhappy with how she's played. I mean,

(03:07):
you know, she's she's trying tofigure it out and uh. And
you know, I thought our backcourt looked comfortable and smooth and you know,
handled handled the servers. That wasa good serving team. They had
a couple really good servers and uh, and we battled and fault and you
know, we've got three people thathave some length out there, and so

(03:27):
it's a little bit easier to coverthe court when you got some you know,
longer people out there. But Ithought that was that was a good
match. Talking with Wisconsin head coachKelly Sheffield. The Badgers take on Miami
tonight at the w field House, and we'll keep an eye on Sarah Franklin
because she continues to, you know, turn out these double figures and kills
every single match this season, andin fact, I don't know if you're

(03:49):
aware, but she's eleven kills awayto reach one thousand in her college career.
How impressed have you been with Sarahat the start of the season and
the way she's been able to impactthe match? Great? I mean,
you know, last night, Ithink we were both pleasantly surprised. I
mean, she she stayed home fromyou know, from practice a couple of
days because she'd been sick, andthen just you know, her being able

(04:13):
to track balls was it was areal problem. I mean I think,
you know, the two days ago, we're in practice and I think she
got aced just about every single timeshe touched the ball. She just couldn't
track it in coming back from sickness. And so the performance as she did
last night was was was really reallyimpressive, you know, and her you
know, she her she wasn't overlywinded, uh, you know, so

(04:36):
that was great. She's she's beenhuge. She's had a great start through
the season. Best of luck tonight, Thanks Sean. That's Wisconsin head coach
Kelly Sheffield. We'll get a scoutof Miami coming up next. They're listening
to Wisconsin Badger Volleyball presented by Goodman'sJewelers, providing Sparkle to Madison for ninety
years. This is Wisconsin Bullyball, wrote to you by good Mun's Jewelers,

(04:59):
Medicine st and a whole lot morein Madison at the field House, it's
the Badgers taking on in Miami. Now joined by associate head coach Gary White
as we take a look at atthe Hurricanes. So before we talk about
Miami, how would you describe theteam win last night in three sets?
You know, obviously the eleven asis six from Tim. We really stood

(05:21):
out. Yeah, I would agree. The serving was a big part of
what what was happening for us.Allow us to put them in in tougher
situations and a lot our defense tobe able to in good positions and then
create some powerful transition attacks. It'sone of the things when you went back
and watch the film, just seeinghow we worked in transition was really good.
So being able to connect not justour serve, but then to our

(05:41):
defense and then to an opportunity score. Looking at Miami and when you look
at their roster, their center,Savannah Vac she's a fifth year player,
acc Center of the Week. Itseems as if she has a lot of
experience. Does that translate on thecourt? Can you see that in film?
You definitely see the confidence in heras a center. You know when
she's around that ten foot line movingfrom the net off some setters they only

(06:03):
set one direction or they only setone hitter in those situations, She's got
the ability and confidence to be ableto set any of her hitters in those
positions. I think you look atkind of their roster and the players that
have played a significant amount for them, They've got a lot of a lot
of upperclassmen. I mean, she'sa fifth year senior. You've got Grieve,
who's a fourth year player. Yarmy dude, she is is a
third year. Both middles are seniors. So you've got a lot of experience

(06:27):
on that team, and it givesthem a lot of confidence out there.
Yeah, let's talk real quick aboutthose attackers. When you look just statistically
fairly balanced in attempts who kind ofcaptures your attention the most. You mentioned
Angela Grieve. She leads and killsper Sette. There's also her Derek Cologne
and your dim. She also playsa role too when we're watching the film
Come Man. She can get onthe ball really fast. She's got a
really powerful arm. She plays sixrotations for them. She's played in every

(06:51):
single match. It kind of movedsome of the outside and right sides throughout
most of all their matches, butshe's kind of their consistent factor, and
she's kind of the one that bringsa lot of the dynam from the left
pin. So I expect her toplay six rotations. I expect her to
take big swings. It's one ofthe things we were talking about with our
block of being able to get intoget into her approach angles and be able
to get our hands into good positionsbecause she's gonna try to wail away at

(07:11):
times on us. Best to lookThankshn. That's Associate head coach Gary White.
The Badger Notebook is next. You'relistening to Wisconsin Badger Volleyball presented by

State Street, good Muns Jewelers dotCom and back at the field House,
John Audience and Pete wait with you. It's time for the Badger notebook getting
ready for Wisconsin and versus Miami. The Badgers took care of Arizona yesterday here
at this tournament in three sets twentyfive, seventeen, twenty five, twenty
one, and twenty five twenty. In the match, fifteen kills from Sarah

(07:55):
Franklin led the way. That meansjust eleven to go to career kill number
one thousand for Franklin. She couldreach that milestone today. Also, Izzie
Ashburn could reach the all time recordfor career aces. Ashburn is currently two
away from tying the school record andthree aces away from setting a new school

(08:18):
record at one hundred and sixty sevencareer aces. Bachers six and oh After
that victory, the fifth time inthe last eleven years under head coach Kelly
Sheffield that Wisconsin has started the seasonsix and oh or better. It's the
best start since the Bachers started eightand oh in twenty twenty one, and
also serving last night was just fantasticeleven aces as a team for the Badgers,

(08:39):
six of them from Timmy Thomas II. Laura the eleven aces. It's
now tied for third on the Wisconsinsingle match record list in three sets.
Kid right here when we come back. The starting lineups in the opening served
between Wisconsin and Miami, and you'relistening to Wisconsin Batcher Volleyball presented by Goodman's
Jewelers providing Sparkle the Madison for ninetyyears. It's back at the field House

(09:01):
getting ready for first serve. JohnAudius and Pete wait with you. Number
one Wisconsin taking on Miami. Let'stake a look at the Hurricanes four and
one starting lineup looks like this eventof Vak is a fifth year center in
the acc center of the week,Siana Tahata on the outside of sophomore Cloa
Marie Heredia Cologne is an outside hitterand a sophomore. Antela Grieve, a

(09:22):
red shirt senior over four kills percent, Abby Caciano as a middle blocker and
a grad student. Payment Yard dimCheep is on the right as a junior
and Nailani Feliciano is a five aseven libero and a sophomore for the Badgers
six and oh this season under atcoach Kelly Sheffield. Caroline Crawford in the
middle, the six foot three Badger'ssenior over one point two blocks percent.

(09:48):
Devin Robinson six two on the rightside, almost three and a half kills
percent is he asburn is two awayfrom tying to school record and career aces
at five eleven grad student is acenter. Tammy Thomas eilara six two on
the right side. All right, excuse me. On the left side.
Sarah Franklin six foot four senior, also on the left side, fifteen kills
last night, now eleven away fromone thousand. Carter Boot sixty seven middle,

(10:11):
and Julio Joe is a six footlebero. You might remember she played
high school volleyball at leads On overknocks up, don't Stamy sor smith Sportebago
and ston't you take here? Wego the start off left or right.
It's asper and serving and putting itin play. Miami attacks from the right
side and a big pound is downfor the Hurricanes. That is her ready
at Cologne three point six kills perset one nothing Hurricane and Miami handle the

(10:33):
is He's serve really well, passher right on target, back set,
faked to quick go to the back, great hit off the top of the
block and deep cross court out ofbounds for the kill from Miami. There's
her ready at Cologne, jump topspin right into the net. And that's
something we saw Jemmy Thomas last night, just thrive off of and now Tammy

(10:54):
goes back to show Miami her jumptop spin. That's right. We've got
one jump topspin server on each teamso far and time we had a big
night last night. Would her servesix aces for Thomas tied the school record
for most aces in any set matchthree, four or five. This one
has Miami out assistant shot from theright, goes deep, but was there

(11:15):
a touch? No touch, andthe shot is out by Yark Dimchi,
the six foot junior and it's twoone Wisconsin in the first. Yeah,
she's a lefty on the right sideand just went high over the top of
the block. And that's something fromMiami or any team that plays the Badgers.
They've got to try to find theblock, even though it's a big
block. They're not used to hittingthat high to find hands. A letther
jump top spin and the tight passgoes near the neat little tip on the

(11:37):
left side by the Hurricanes. Pushedback. That was grieb Now another swing
again, grieve denied, they'll tryThey back row already at Cologne. Underneath
it is oh Jo left side. Here comes Franklin into the block and she
got stuffed, big block by Miami. Good back and forth there we're tied
at two in the first Yeah, that's that dropped inside to Franklin and Miami

(11:58):
did a good job moving their blockinside of the left and taking away the
court and getting the block served bythe Canes. It goes right at Ojo,
perfect pass to ask for and leftside there's a big shot by Franklin

(12:18):
getting a fist on it was griefsaved by Miami at the end line in
a free ball. Tammy tracks itdown, setting left side Franklin off the
blocket. It falls ask for intoFranklin and it's three to two Wisconsin in
the first set. Sarah Franklin nowneeds ten kills to reach one thousand.
She's got a little smaller block onthe right side. There a six footer
and just a good job, justdelaying a little bit. The block was

(12:41):
on their way down. She hitit into the block and they kind of
pulled it down with them to theground. Three to two Wisconsin. Here's
Osjo fires it into the back row. It already at Cologne set goes to
the right side. That is Argims. She with the swing and it's gonna
eventually fall down. A kill fromMiami where even at three apiece, Yeah,
I deflected off the bedroom block afterthe right side attack and came down

(13:03):
right right at the nets and Robinsontried to pull it out of the net
from the spot undred and yanked ittoo far out of bounds off the court.
Deep Serve goes down the left sideout of Wisconsin. Great passed by
Franklin, middle attacked by Crawford, stopped by Miami. To the left side.
This is Greeve rolls one over theblock. Ashburn comes in there and
scoops it up. Bumps at Ojoeright side of Robinson deflects off the blocking

(13:26):
down and then there is Kevin deliveringa kill for the Badgers. A six
two senior almost three and a halfkills percent this year. Go hustled by
Izzy Ashburn coming off the right backdefensive position, popping the ball. The
roll shot up and so Ojoe bumpsat it to the right side and actually
it dropped inside, but the Miamiblack did not move far enough inside and
Robinson got the killed hard cross courtoff the middle blocker's right hand. Four

(13:48):
three with Scots and Leeds first sat. Here is m J. Hamill,
who recorded an ace last night againstArizona. Behind the line serving from zone
one goes just over the top ofthe tape. Night serve set by Vok
in the middle. A tip byMiami with Scotts and retrieves left side.
Franklin pounds one down the line andit's dug by the Canes left side.

(14:09):
Grieve into the block and popped up. Now Vok will set the pipe.
That's already a cologne off the blockand it's good, So already a cologne.
Getting some swings here. That's hersecond kill, and Miami and Wisconsin
are even at four and Miami showingI'm not afraid to go to the back
row attack and Colone hit that oneout of the pipe. The second swings
she's taken from there, and really, when the Badgers have a double block

(14:30):
on the outside going on the pipein the middle is guaranteed one on one
four each. In the first set, Canes put it in play. That
was grieve, I believe. Here'shamlet to set up. Franklin has to
set her step roll shot over andit's dug in the middle back of Miami
already a cologne and then goes waydeep and out of bounds, getting error
by four Wisconsin. Yeah, thesame swing as one of the first of

(14:52):
the game where they just go highhands but they don't realize them. The
hands are high, but also theBadgers are penetrating across the nets or hands
are a little lower than you mightexpect. She just totally missed him,
went third row into the stands deep. Here's Franklin behind the line for the
u W Wisconsin eleven aces last nightagainst the Arizona. This one flops off
the top of the net and ithas the Hurricanes out a system and a

(15:13):
pound deep from the back row.Attack is out by yard. Didn't she
another point for Wisconsin and the Badgersthey have built themselves at two point pushing.
Yeah, Franklin got a clip offthe top of the tape and down,
but Miami fellow the four left backpasser got a hand on it,
but then they forced it to theright side back row a tack and high
out of bounds. Three Miami passersin the backcourt waiting for Franklin's to serve.

(15:33):
She'll jump floated over to the leftback high pass fines Vak inside the
ten foot lines back or attack greeb. It's near the net and Smerek tried
to save it on the second ball, but it falls right near the up
official and down six five point Miami. Yeah, Hammon just couldn't bring that
line shot back into the court atall. It just was just outside the
antenna. Em Smereck couldn't quite getit. Here's Feliciano the liberow for Miami

(15:56):
four aces this season in all thirtymatches last season for the Canes. That
one goes at Ojo sticks to passa Hammel back row. Franklin winds up.
It's gonna be over and out offof Yar Dimchi count it for Franklin.
She's had double figures every match andkills so far this season. She
has two tonight. Now, shereally powered that back row attack from the

(16:17):
right side. It's not a pureright side. It's not a middle attack,
it's right in between the two, which is a nice spot to avoid
the left front blocker from Miami.Crawford will serve from the left back position,
goes near the middle back and abump set by voc left side and
another wild shot looking for a touchnot getting it was already at Cologne and

(16:37):
that one went well out. Abouta couple of the Miami players are saying
eight, coach, I think wegot them that time, and they're gonna
challenge it. And sure enough headcoach for Miami Keno Gandhara, it will
use the first challenge up tonight's matchand it comes in the first set.

(17:00):
Yeah, Kenna has been there fornine years at Miami, and before that
he was eight years at the Universityof Washington, so across the country.
But the University of Washington had agreat program and he sure learned a lot
there and now he's done well atMiami. So smart coach, well trained.
He's got players from all over thecountry and the world on this team.
And his team made it to theNCAA tournament last season where they won

(17:22):
nineteen matches. They were nineteen andeleven. We're watching the replay now on
the video board, trying to figureout whether or not the attack on the
left side by Heredia Cologne hits thebatchel of block and we can't tell.
Yeah, we can't tell. Ifit's really close, you know, we
can tell that. But what I'mlooking at is the block. Let's Smrek
up there with their head above thenet. I mean, that's that's a
crazy big block in women's volleyball, getting up there and just taking a lot

(17:45):
of space across the net. Also, which is why it's so hard for
attackers, if the sets tight atall, to have any room because Smrek's
reaching a foot and half across thenet and getting in her space. And
the call is confer, which meansMiami loses its first challenge point Wisconsin.
It's eight to five and the Badger'slead here in the opening set. One

(18:10):
more challenge remaining for Miami, andCrawford again is about ready to put it
in play. She'll run up tothe end line, serve one that dropped
off the table, and once againMiami scrambling a free ball forced Wisconsin distreck
to hammle to the left. Tammytimes yes, Tammy Thomas thumps it off

(18:33):
the block for the kill and Wisconsinleads by four and Crawford had a nasty
serve there, just kind of crossedthe net and dropped fast to the ten
eleven foot line in Miami. Justhad a fly at it on their fronts
and just get a hand on itjust to keep it in place for free
ball from to the Badgers and TimmyThomas on the left side scored hard cross
court. Crawford serves to the rightback. Miami coup set in the middle.
It checked it. It's covered boothwith a big time boot block the

(18:57):
pacciano. Yeah, not a gooddecision by the Miami Center. She's front
row, which means Timmy Thomas wasin to block her and then booth didn't
have to go anywhere. Just reachacross the night and get that quick set.
Yeah, Timmy and Carter both getcredit for a block assist ten five
Wisconsin largest lead to the set.Time out Miami. You're listening to Wisconsin
Badger Volleyball Presented by Goodman's Jewelers providingSparkle to Medicine for ninety years. Good

(19:26):
Muns Jewelers providing Sparkled to Medicine sincenineteen thirty three. It's ten to five
Wisconsin on top of Miami. Topranks Badgers with four kills off ten attack
attempts, Miami four kills, fiveerrors, negative attack percentage for the Canes,

(19:47):
John Audios and Pete Wait, waityour reminder to Badger fans if you're
headed to devise her for him nextweek. Check out the official Badger tailgate
going on from five to seven pmat the Mecca. Here's Crawford deep served
now near the end line, rightat the liberrel. Here's a ticket from
the right back. Wisconsin grabs atbooth it with a big shot and it's

(20:07):
gonna be slipped over with the righthand by Heredia Cologne and out another tough
served by Crawford, and Miami isjust kind of scrambling just to keep the
ball in play and then just tryto punch it over at the end and
hit it out of bounds. Fivenothing. Badger's scoring run now behind the
serving of Caroline Crawford stepping in fronton serve receives the Miami player Horredia Cologne.

(20:32):
The checked grieve got the stop. Now the back roll yr gimp shoe
Deep went out fitting in in Miami. Another one for Bucky. It's a
six nothing run. Yeah, reallyfast sets the outside by Miami, but
it's really smarket at a great jobjust setting up the right back and her
hands across the night quickly and puttingit right back on them. Here's Crawford

(20:53):
serving from the left back, jumpfloats it right into the NAT. But
that was a good run. Sixnothing run in Wisconsin now leads by six
at twelve six, side out toMiami and that one goes out service error

(21:18):
Hurricanes. The Miami sings a littlerattled so far, and part of it
it's the big badgery block they're tryingto do with that, but part part
of it's the crowd. And we'llsee if they adjust. Here. Second
service error of the evening by theHurricanes, and here's Ashburn, too away
from tying the school record and careerraces thirteen six. Wisconsin fires it in

(21:40):
at already Cologne tight pass near thenet, flying in and getting stopped again
by that badger's block. Is Cassianojust kind of came in awkwardly though I
didn't really have much behind it,just try to poke at it and waiting
for our was booth. Yeah, tight enough that the Miami Center. Just
had to go up with one handand just try to throw it to the
middle and booths right they're waiting. They blocked her booth in the batch.

(22:04):
He's fourteen six right side attack goesout already at Cologne with the hitting error.
That's her fourth hitting error with twokills. Yeah, Cologne's panicking a
little bit. I think she's amuch better hitter than she's showing, but
she's almost working too hard, tryingtoo fast and avoiding the badger block instead
of finding the edges in the tops. And now she's been taking out of

(22:26):
the match and replacing her as NayaAnderson, who had ten kills last match
against Troy. Here's Ashburn fires oneright at the new player who's into the
match, and then back can't tapit. I don't know if she's trying
to set it or flip it overthe net. It didn't work in sixteen
six exactly. And a new subcoming in and is the Ashburn went right

(22:47):
at her and it's an overpass. The setter's you know, coming out of
the back, and she just couldbarely touch the ball and keep it in
play at all. Waiting to seehow that's scored exactly sixteen six. Ashburn
serves at Anderson back row, tappedby Grieve. Wisconsin grabs it right side,
Robinson off the block. It's poppedup a couple of times and shoved

(23:10):
over by Feliciano. It's a freeball Wisconsin to Robinson on the right side,
goes at Greve in the middle backand Miami attacks near side block by
Bucky again or Robinson and Booth withanother Bucky block. I think I said
this last night for a lot ofteams who don't know the Badgers and how
big the block is. The settersare just setting it too tight, and
the hitters, let's have nowhere togo sometimes and they can't hit the edges,

(23:33):
that can't hit around it, andthey're just getting blocked off the court.
Right now five nothing run, nowseventeen to six is he fires it
in low to Feliciano, a bumpset near the net, just pushed over
by yur dimsy Wi. Scotson willattack back row, Franklin didn't clear the
net, Miami gets it, stopsus five nothing run and it's seventeen to
seven. But the Badgers had builtthemselves at ten point lead Franklin was a

(23:56):
little late coming out of the backrow and getting our arm through and the
ball just hit the tape and runon their own side of the net.
Badgers passers three across the back rowwaiting. It goes at Franklin on the
middle backlaft side. Timmy yep getsit off the setter Voc in the back

(24:18):
rol for the kill and it's eighteento seven. Really nice high reach by
Temmy on the outside that time, just one high line over the blocker's hands
and down the line Vick who setoff the setter's shoulder and out of bounds.
Eighteen to seven. With scotsin leadsMiami first set. Badger's looking to
remain perfect this season. They're sixand oh, here's Tammy jump top spin

(24:41):
handle buying Anderson. Here's Grieve liningup and popping one down right in front
of Ojo on the left back. It's fun to listen to the crowd when
Timmy serves the ooze and the oz. I think fans really appreciate a great
jump tip slowly. It's just sorare to have somebody who's consistent with it,
so when she's doing that, they'reimpressed by it and that swing from
Miami's I think the best swing they'vehad tonight. I mean, as far

(25:03):
as you know. Grief taking thaton the left side and putting it down.
Franklin un serve receive Asburn has togo to the Backgrow sets back to
Franklin. Underneath it there's Grief bumpset right side yard dimp she a high
tip. Robinson has it Asburn setsBackgrow attack Tammy stop by Miami bump set.
It's going to be a freeball now. It was near the net and
a backwards bump. Here comes Wisconsinon the attack. Middle booth com overpass

(25:26):
O show middle booth. Another bigshot popped around overpass and then Franklin slapped
at it and it's down. Alot of play there, back and forth
at the net was Scotts. Iteventually gets the point, Yeah Booth.
That two quick attacks there that justcreated some chaos from Miami, and they
finally just dug it right to Franklinand she just stood up there in a

(25:48):
quick little jump and popped it rightback down at him. Franklin leads Wisconsin
with three kills and the Badgers leadMiami nineteen to eight. Here's the Badger's
labaro. You'll the O show servingto the left back. Voc will set
for Miami to Yardmsch on the right, got it off the block, ricocheted
off the blocker's hands in down forYard Dimchet nineteen to nine. Yeah,

(26:12):
Miami setter, I got pulled forwardquite a bit and just checked it back
to the right side and looked likea mishandle in the bedroom bench Coaches the
staff, we're asking for that, but they didn't get that call. Ten
point Badgers lead at nineteen nine. And here's Yardmchet to serve goes at Franklin

(26:32):
on the left back, spinning passedto the back row. Askburn sets to
the right side. Robinson takes careof the rest cross court to the right
back, right off yard dent sheetand it's a point for the batchers,
and it's an eleven point lead.A really nice crosscurat swring by Robinson that
time, just severe cross scort rightoff the right backs platform. Wisconsin in

(26:56):
complete control. Here in the openingset, here's him standing on the right
back up toward the end line, floats it to the middle back. A
bump set by Boy greed out ofbounds, hitting error by greed no touch
up front at the net. That'sMiami's eleventh attack error. And we've seen

(27:18):
more extreme errors tonight than we haveprobably all season, just out of one
team. Just really maybe they weretold bang high and hard, but just
like forgot to tell him hit theblock. I was gonna say, is
that a result of maybe a strategythat they come in and say, hey,
listen, we're just gonna try toget off high off that base tools
using practice that are called block. It's you hit it high and hard off
the top of those and they probablyset them up real high this week and

(27:40):
they've been working on it, butthey're missing the boundaries right now. Yeah,
because you're right. I mean,we've seen some really well out of
bounds shots by Miami. The serveby MJ has him out of system,
and a free ball comes to Wisconsin, Temmy to MJ the CC and the
tip pinball the round. It won'tclear the net. Four hits against Miami
and Wisconsin is three points away froman opening set victory. Yeah, they've

(28:03):
just not let Miami get in rhythmat all here in the match, and
they're causing a lot of it themselveswith a lot of these hits that are
going on bombs, not even makingthe players. The badger's playing in defense.
Here's Hamil twenty two to nine Wisconsinin the first a three nothing run.
Right now, MJ toss into theair, puts it in play right
at Anderson. Vock sets to theleft side, stopped box sets to the

(28:29):
back. Girl, that's Anderson offo show, popped up by m J.
But they're gonna say it touched thefloor. Killed by Miami Point to
Wisconsin. I'm scared, sorry, killed in Miami Point to the Hurricanes.
So we actually have Vierra subed endfor Vac that time setting. She's right
back right now. Number eleven,a little smaller, just coaches looking for

(28:51):
a little different rhythm. Maybe hewas disappointed with the decisions that the setter
was making. Vack twelve point Wisconsin. Lead Timmy pops a perfect paths to
MJ and smack with the smack. The finishes right in the middle. Twenty
three ten Wisconsin. Yeah, yougot a six one middle blocker against the

(29:11):
sixty seventh six sorry six nine attacker. That's a big difference. I feel
sorry for that middle blocker and herhead's just kind of spinning. Yeah,
and that one was like almost perfectlyconnected. So Anna was stands six nine
but reaches well well over that. Here's the set Vieira to the back row,
pushed over by Greeve Wisconsin. Underneathit, Thomas Eila Roz tries to

(29:34):
go deep toward the end line andgoes along and she gave it a shot.
She tried to go a little bitoff on the top of the block
and just missed it a little long. Wisconsin twenty three, Miami eleven.
Complete control. Now for the numberone ranks, Badgers. Feliciano serves at

(29:56):
oshow to the left pin and there'sTimmy Feliciano pops it up and a bump
set and what's the call here?I've met violation. I thought I had
heard a whistle and it's a pointto Wisconsin. Let's talking about the students
sex right now yelling sib at theserver. That always cracks me up because
it's a hockey term. They stillthey do it in blah blah the other
team, especially in Miami. Whatthe heck are they yelling at us right?

(30:18):
Not at sooth? Well? Whatis this about? Twenty four to
eleven. It's a thirteen point lead. It's set point. Crawford serving in
the first set, Miami Vieira tothe right side, blocked back down by
Bucky the attack viol Lopez rejected byBooth twenty five to eleven. Wisconsin seizes
the first and Miami's kind of stunnedright now, and they've just got oudjust

(30:42):
right here to take a deep breathand come back and make the Badgers play
a little bit because they made somany airs, a couple of serving airs,
a lot of hitting airs, blockingairs, easy points for the Badgers.
Wisconsin up one set to nine. We'll take a break, come back
with the second set in a coupleof If you're listening to Wisconsin Badger Volleyball
presented by Goodman's Jewelers providing Sparkle toMadison for ninety years by good Munch Jewelers,

(31:12):
Medicine Store and the Full Lunch Woller, Well, that's how you dominate
a first set twenty five to eleven, top ranked to Wisconsin over Miami.
John Odius and Pete Waite join youhere from the historic w Field House.
Pete ten kills two errors, threetwenty attack per sentence. That's Wisconsin stat
line in the first offensively Miami sevenkills, twelve errors minus one fifty six.

(31:37):
That's a season low for an opponentin a set, and a lot
of times the Badgers don't have twelveerrors in a match, and Miami just
did it in the first set.And I don't know if it's the cold,
rainy weather that has them playing alittle more stiff and not as loose
as they do when they're in theheat of Miami. But they got rock
that first set, and we'll seeif they can come out of it,

(31:59):
if they have any tools. Maybemaybe they don't have enough weapons to go
at the Badgers and really make itcompetitive. We'll see. And when you
look at those numbers and you youtalked about like how many hits were just
well out of bounds we you know, like into the stands right like not
like so Wisconsin had oh they justadjusted it. So Wisconsin had four blocks

(32:23):
make that adjustment, and Miami hadtwelve errors, so like eight unforced hitting
errors by the team in the firstset. And that's so frustrating for a
coaching staff to look at that andsay, what are you guys doing.
It's like, you know, findthe cord, hit the blocks, something,
make them play Ball. I'm surethat's what he's telling him. He's
an experienced coach and he's trained himwell. But they're just kind of stunned

(32:45):
here with the size of the Badgersand the size of the product. Think
big first step for Wisconsin a totalof four blocks as well, three kills
from Tammy Thomas I Laura, threekills from Sarah Franklin, and the Badgers
win that first set twenty five toeleven. All right, So Wisconsin and

(33:22):
Miami getting ready for the second setas the Badgers are six and oh this
season, trying for a seven andoh start, and the countdown for Sarah
Franklin is down to eight kills toreach one thousand in her college career.

(33:45):
So we're about ready now for ourset number two. There comes Miami to
start things off. That's Vaka, the setter at Franklin, who directs the
past to ask Brendon a quick setto Booth, and Booth buries it for
the kill. One nothing Wisconsin, when Carter Booth is in the front row
and you get a good pass. She I mean, her hitting percentage after

(34:08):
the match last night went up overfive hundred to five nineteen. She was
at five O eight. That's hardto keep raising your hitting percentage when you're
that high. Temmy Thomas Eilaa justmissed the corner and the jump topspin.
You're right. There's always a reactionfrom the crowd, whether it's a good
or bad. It's ace or amiss. They're into it already at Cologne

(34:32):
will serve for Miami. She's gota jump topspin two tossed into the air.
A bullet at Ojo on the runis asked for and a bump set
to Franklin stuffed covered hear the netpushed over by Robinson. Miami picks it
up. Left side Grieve, OhJoe with the dig. It goes over
the net, A big slap byMiami and it's dug by Wisconsin. Here's

(34:53):
Franklin big approach and a deep tipto the back row Miami underneath it.
Left side Grieve blocked by Wisconsin, played off the net and kept alive down
ball coming to the batchers. Oshohigh passed two asper and right side that's
Robinson big smash. It's kin ballaround and saved by the cane and then
tipping it down the line is yarddimp sheet and it's down near sideline two

(35:15):
one and a big rally here betweenthese two teams. Yeah, it's a
long run I can't explain about. But at the end, right side took
its threw it down the line andshe showed tip early so Ojo came up
the left back and kind of headedtowards center court, which isn't a bad
decision, but then it got throwndown the sideline. Heredia Cologne with a
huge shop of what a perfect pass. Booth gets it and goes brist away

(35:37):
to the far sideline for the kill. Man. She nailed that pass,
she did, and she really surroundedthe ball again. That's the jump topspin
serve coming. A lot of timesthose are really easy because they're not floating
side to side dropping. They're justkind of coming straight at you if you
can track them, and she didthat really well. Started the play.
Get helped her team get the kill. Second kill. Make it, Yeah,
second kill for Booth. We're tiedit to Heredia Cologne on server Steve

(36:00):
out a system left side griefs it'sa shot right off the right hand of
Julia who is in the middle back. Yeah, smart shop, I grieve,
you know, she didn't try tobang it just found high deep cross
court corner and found a spot inbetween the two Badger defenders. Miami has
a three to two lead. Wisconsinwon the opening set by fourteen. Here's

(36:22):
the serve by the Canes to theleft back that was past Siano and the
Canes get that defensive stop. Wellalready, it's a closer game than it
started last time, and Miami's justlooking a little more confident out there.

(36:44):
Tell me Thomas la and service SteveAspur and high set up to the left
side break, then big power shotand it's good. It goes over and
out off in Miami defense. Fourthree. The Badgers trailed by one.
That's another thing. It's so hardfor her teams to get used to with
the Badgers when they don't see themoff and is that the pace of the
ball comes so fast that when theydig it, it just goes flying across

(37:06):
the net or out of bounds becauseit's just coming at a higher pace than
a lot of teams. They playhigher angle, it's coming from different angles
and the stronger pace. Hammil servingfrom the right back bur Wisconsin down to
point line drive pass a voc forest, a bump set and yard dimp.

(37:27):
She goes for the sideline and goesout of bounds from the right pin for
four now between the Badgers and theCanes. Yeah again. She tried to
go too hard cross court and triedto avoid Crawford's hands too much and just
missed it by about two feet crosscourt out of bounds. Three hurricane passers
waiting it for Hamil's serve. MJhad two aces last night. Jump flows

(37:52):
it to the left sideline, highpassive voc left side. That's Grieve sliding
in with the dig Azzoh y'all. Here was Franklin on a big approach,
snap of the rest and it's downright off the Libero Feliciano who actually just
kind of rolled over the top ofthe volleyball. Five four. Yeah again.
I think that set dropped in alittle bit and the Miami block middle

(38:15):
blocker especially reached out instead of takingcross Carter away a nice killed by Franklin
crosscourt. How much time does anattack or really have to make that decision
of where they want to go withthe shot and what shots. It's absolutely
split seconds. They react that kindof they can kind of see the block,
not super clear, but they cansee it and they go with their
comfortable with joust at the net.Pushed over by Wisconsin on Miami big shot

(38:37):
into the bucket block, but it'srechecked it and down point Wisconsin after Greeves
just fired a fastball right into thatWisconsin wall. Yeah. Again, it
was a you're off their offense andthe ball dropped inside from Miami about eight
foot line. She didn't have anywhereto go, and the beadroom blockers they're
waiting for it. Six four fournothing run Wisconsin. The Badger's lead by

(38:59):
two. Hammel serving from zone oneright to left, grabbed by Heredia Cologne
bluff set. That's Grieve. It'soff Franklin, sharp cross s court.
Franklin was standing on the left frontat Ricochet's offer and into the stands.
Yeah, Grieves the one player fromMiami that really hit some nice shots.
That was extreme cross court from theleft side, just off Franklin's left shoulder.

(39:24):
Six five. Wisconsin's lead is downto one here. Second set vi
Era with the serve. Tammy's slidingin serve receives way off to the right.
A down ball by Franklin. Wisconsinwas fortunate to keep it alive.
The right side attack is gonna workfor Grace Lopez cross court six six.

(39:47):
Miami playing much better here so farearly though, through the first twelve points
of the second. Absolutely they arethere here, some good shots, good
angles. I think this is theteam they're hoping would have showed up the
first game. Miami would have Vieirato Tammy high passed to m J.
Hamil setting Franklin power shot again andit's good cross court as she goes,

(40:08):
I believe inside the block to thefar sideline point Wisconsin. Yeah. Again,
they're just going up against a smallerblock, you know, middle block
or six foot one outside about sixfoot and for Franklin at six four,
she just reaches so high and takesjust swotting shot she wants. She's up
to six kills, five away fromone thousand. To the back row.

(40:29):
Already, Cologne pushes the passport toVieira, shot by Grieve. Wisconsin keeps
it off the floor. Tammy leftside to the ten foot line right at
Miami. Now to the left side. That's Lopez stopped and covered. They'll
try the back row. Already atCologne, Hamill has the dig and Crawford
takes the second ball and slams itover, but violation called should one eighty

(40:54):
slam dunk on That one is comingat her and if it had been a
little more past her body and thatshe just turned and swept it down would
have been great. But she followedthrough and get her forms in the net.
And there is h Keno Gandara upsetwith something talking to the down official.
I don't know, we got thepoint. I'm not sure what is

(41:15):
he made actually a motion like seethat like almost what Crawford did. Yeah,
but this team got the point,so I'm a little confused. Yeah,
he seems to be upset. Idonteah. The fans are saying,
hey, you got the point.Grieve ace to the near side, Quarner

(41:39):
right between Tammy and Julia. Wow. Whatever the coach was saying is his
team came out with a tough serveand got the ace. Miami takes a
one point lead. I thought thatwas a really athletic play by Crawford the
way you described. Yeah, yeah, except here is Grieve another fastball right

(41:59):
at oh Joe pops the pass forwardSmereck with the smash net violation. Miami
point Wisconsin eight eight. It wouldhave been to kill either way. For
Smeck, Yeah, no doubt onthat one. Smuck bounced up ball.
Yeah A. Smeck is just havinga solid start to the season, about
two point two kills per set, hitting almost four fifty. She's been very

(42:23):
valuable for this team. Here's Crawfordwho went on a great super goo in
this pass was popped perfectly to Vieriraand then the attack by her ready at
Cologne, and she just got roofedby that Bucky block. Six blocks for
Wisconsin in this match. That's toughfor attackers. I mean, Miami's been
doing a better job, but shegot trapped. It was a little outside

(42:45):
set and she made the wrong decision, really intimidating six nine and six seven.
We talked about it all the time, but it's so true. Big
shot pinball around and kept off thefloor back to Miami. Here's Lopez block
touch save sideline by Hammel, bumpsat Crawford to the right, Streck wines
up lies in hits it. Nowit's pinballed on the cane side, sent

(43:07):
over pinball back on the badger's side, sent over freeball to Miami. Vieira
tight bump set to their right.Lopez swings wide point was scotsin of the
Miami things that might have gotten astouch on the cross cour they're gonna ask
their coach to challenge that one man. The Canes have one challenge remaining,
so if they don't get this, they're out of challenges. Take Caroline Crawford

(43:28):
back there, like if she servesbefore they do the challenge the hustle back
there, maybe they won't challenge it. That'd be really interesting. Oh you
can't because you got a way forthe whistle. But all right, Tenny
was sconsin. But there is oursecond challenge of the match, Miami.
All the players on the Hurricane sideclaiming that there was a touch on the
attack by Lopez from the right thatwent out of bounds. Now we're watching

(43:52):
a replay Lopez trying to go insidethe block. That's not gonna show as
much. There got a net cameraview. You see a hand finger move
on the antenna's right in the wayis what it almost does look like you
might have caught in the middle blockersto get Booth's Timmy on the outside,
Booth on the inside. We wouldofficial might see something. Yeah, we

(44:15):
need that end line view. Therewe go. That was at full speed
back it up and we'll see thisend line view again. Does it touch
the right hand of booth? Inthat view, it doesn't look like it
looked any fingers. You have tozoom in, I think on that view,
but it's really tough to tell. We'll see what they can piece together.

(44:43):
And like I said, Miami alreadyhad a challenge in the first set
that they were unsuccessful with scores fromaround college volleyball. Some Big ten teams
in action, Pete Right, Minnesota, Plaine, Oregon, Man Minnesota's non
conference is insane. They lead onezip over the Ducks, and we're done
with the review and there's a touch, so Miami will retain one challenge as

(45:07):
that call is overturned. We're tiedat nine. Penn State with a sweep
of Temple. Michigan beat North Carolinain three. Michigan State is up on
Duke two sets to none. Indianawith a sweep of Valparaiso and it took
five, but Maryland topped Coastal Carolina. Feliciano pounds one at Franklin. Decent

(45:31):
pass, camel to the right, smack with a huge smash, but it's
stopped back row. Miami goes toLopez off hand tip right, there is
Wisconsin back girl Franklin potler shot.Feliciano stopped it for the Hurricanes right side
Lopez tool shot. Yes, Lopezgets a tool shot in Miami takes the
lead. My stig bite. Miami'slibero Friusiano just sprawled out to the floor,

(45:57):
puffed that ball up just to keepit in play. Then they set
to the right side and a nicescore off of Timmy's left hand. Already
seven ties. Now in the secondseven, it's ten nine. Hamil waits
for the pass, sets the TimmyThomas II Laura, who winds up crunching
a kill to the back row.Somebody swings she actually kind of hung a
little bit up there, and thenthe little delay swing. I'm crown to

(46:19):
seam in the block to hit theend line. Tied to ten. Miami
hit minus one fifty six in thefirst set. They're at one eighty two
in this set, but still overalltrying to get to zero fourteen kills,
fifteen errors. Here's Ashburn, tiedto ten in the second pass off to
the left near the bench, broughtback in play in a free ball to

(46:43):
Wisconsin. Franklin pushes to Ashburn setsthe booth, got a piece of it
picked up by vi Era I setup by the Liberto to Lopez, stopped
by Wisconsin and covered. Miami triesthe left side her Radio Cologne with a
big smash block touch saved the Wisconsinleft eye Thomas eye. Laura tries cut
shot and didn't clear it. Eleventen. Miami takes the lead after the

(47:04):
second hitting error of the set byWisconsin. Yeah, she went super extreme,
trying to go super extreme sharp crosscourt and just stayed on her own
side of the net. Eleven acesfor the Badger's last night so far none
Miami fires at Franklin to Ashburn toThomas Lara, and there's Tammy banging a

(47:27):
kill. You know she's doing alittle better attacking to night had five shills
and two errors. Goes inside theblock from the left pin. She had
seven kills last night, did ThomasII Laura. She has five in this
one and now she's back to servefrom zone one. Jump topspin handled by

(47:49):
Heredia Cologne, high high pass boxsetting tipping on the left days yard dimp
sheet Wisconsin underneath it. Robinson fromthe right side picked up by the Canes
here Tim she again, but leftthe end of at your block gets picked
up by Miami. They'll try theright side, and a swing by her
ready at Cologne deflects off the blockand all the way out of bounds on
the far sideline, so it's goodfor her. It's twelve to eleven Miami.

(48:10):
You know, we have a holddifferent team in here. With Miami,
they're doing much better. And actuallyit seems like he is using both
setters, is keeping keeping them bothin the back row and keeping three hitters
in the front room. So we'llsee if that continues. Already at Cologne
into the net on her jump topspin, Wisconsin gets an easy point back and
we're even at twelve. Wisconsin wonthe first set convincingly twenty five to eleven,

(48:35):
and now it is a twelve twelvescore in the second. Here's Ojoe
with the serve on the right sideline, saved out of bounds by her ready
at Cologne, and she kind ofsteps off the court and stumbles a bit
free ball to Wisconsin. Robinson linesup, touches the block grabbed by Miami
in the back court. A tipby our dips sheet down the line.

(48:58):
O Joe underneath it up side. There's frank big pop and it stopped by
Miami. Here's your dimpsy against sideeat in for the biggest Timmy to the
right side. Here she slipped andtripped on the court, slipped or turned
her ankle. I couldn't tell whathappened, and that was really strange.
And she'd pop right back up.She's standing up. Doesn't seem to be
effective. But maybe it was justa spot on the floor. Yeah,

(49:22):
it's almost as if. I'm notsure. It didn't look too much.
It looked like her foot stuck asopposed to slip in real time, you
know what I mean. Like,i'd be interesting to see that replay.
But she seems fine. That's good. You ever been walking sometimes you kind
of just kind of I do thatsometimes, dragging your feet a little bit.

(49:45):
No, no, no, wellthat's what it looked like. I
guess my point is that was prettysevere. I hope you don't do it
like that. No, I don't, I don't. I'm not usually jumping.
Here is Timmy pass off to theright on servic Robinson has if Franklin
tips it from the left side, popped up by the set Bach. Here
is yr dimpsey deep and out ashot on the right side is a hitting

(50:05):
error by Miami, and Wisconsin andMiami are tied at thirteen midway through the
second. You know, that wasthe first extreme error we've seen that make
Other than that they've been doing.Miami has been doing really well this set.
And by the way, Robinson looksokay. She's on the bench,
she's given high fives your teammates, and she appears to be okay. Here's

(50:25):
Hamil thirteen eats in the second.Badger is really doing a good job scoring
points off the server of Hamil thisyear, and you can see why.
Out a system y'r dimpsey into theblock on the right back to Miami.
You don't try to laugh. It'soff the block and it's down by Grieve.
Angela Grieve, who comes into tonightover four kills per set, just

(50:47):
picked up her fifth. Yeah, she's even. In the first set,
she was the only one who hitsome decent balls, and now she's got
five kills in two airs. Stilljust sitting one seventy six. But it's
the best of Miami's got going rightnow. Thirteen each second set, Wisconsin
up one step to none and inthis match, Thomas Lara on service,
you would great pass up to mJ Franklin off speed down the line and

(51:09):
it falls number seven tonight for SarahFranklin fourteen thirteen Wisconsin, and that means
Franklin is four kills away from reachingone thousand. Yeah, Franklin took a
little off of that one and justone line with a little chop shot down
the deep line and the center wasreleasing looking for a roll shot him.
She just shanked it out of boundsfourteen each. Shear's Franklin pass off to

(51:36):
the left near the Miami bench offHerrettia Cologne and a backwards bumping a free
ball to Wisconsin MJ to the rightSmreck, big approach, big seed,
big kill fifteen fourteen Wisconsin, deepcross court for Smrek. Let's take some
good arm speed by Shrek to justgo off the top of the block from
the right siders where she attacked thattime off the top of the block and
deep cross court, out of boundsstack left on serve receive of the Hurricanes

(52:01):
three passers in the backcourt. SarahFranklin behind the line puts it in play
at already Cologne pass off to theright and not assist him again are the
Hurricanes, but Grieve bails them outwith an off speed cross court shot near
the ten foot line. Yea Vierathe centers and on the court now and
she's really doing a nice job.She had a chase I one down bump

(52:22):
set it to the right side andthen a nice cross court shot, so
she seems to have settled the teamdown since she came into the match and
halfway through the first set, andnow Grieve, we'll serve jump floats it
cross court at O. Joe hasHammel on the run, bump set tell
me with the left hand and asoft tap grabbed by her Readia Cologne,

(52:43):
who takes a swing on the laugh. There's Franklin with the dig left side
tammy power shot at Feliciano. Underneathit though, back row Grieve and a
whistle on the set at a pointto Wisconsin. Double contact on that set
by the Era and nice dick byLibero. Feliciano just hard hit ball,
dug it up, but the centergot sent halfway across the court and twelve

(53:04):
four nine you tried to backset itto the middle back attacker, back road
attacker and she chucked that ball andit was mishandle one point lead at the
University of Wisconsin and the second set. Top ranked Badgers won the first set
twenty five to eleven. And nowJohncelyn Bowyer, we'll step into stirve for
Crawford to gallop up to the endline. Serve it already Cologne which the

(53:28):
pass forward right side load Pezz Hamiltonher left has to stop Boot with the
set right side streck rejected, poppedup and then it falls and I tried
to dive for that one and couldnot get it to keep it off the
floor. Pretty nice set by Boots. She didn't have allowed time to react,
but she didn't mishandlet sent it tothe right side there. But it
was just a bit tight. Sixteeneach year second set fourteen ties six lead

(53:55):
changes in this set much different thanwhat we saw in the first. Feliciano
to Franklin has to dive to herlaugh from the back court. The set
to the left to Tammy stopped andcovered. Hamil still on the run,
bumps at Thomas Ler with a bigshot and it goes over and out of
bounds, fol Sing right into thehands of head coach Kelly Sheffield. Yeah,

(54:15):
that's time. Miami's a liberal Policiandogo to her left and just couldn't
keep it in play with good hand, good contact by tell me just a
lot of power on that shot.Seventeen to sixteen, Wisconsin leeds second set.
The Badger's won the first set byfourteen. Here's Ashburn to the left

(54:37):
back pass up front ArtEZ tool shot. Yes, six one freshman, almost
two kills per set from Miami. He's getting more plain time as this one
has gone on. That's her twelfthattack attempt. Yeah, nice swing again
by the lefty on the right side. They're just pretty much what we saying
saw before. Just a fast armwhip and went down the line and caughts

(54:58):
Timmy's left hand and out of bound. In the second set, here at
UW Fieldhouse, Wisconsin and Miami aretide seventeen each. Three Badger pastors right
back as Ojall, middle back isFranklin, left back standing on the big
ten logos Thomas II Lara, We'recalm to survive. Vock right at Tammy

(55:22):
to ask Burn back to Thomas eilarathrough the defense of the back row as
she crunches a kill and it isin eighteen seventeen Wisconsin lead. As we
get late in the seconds, intersinging that one Timmy the block stayed way
inside. She had a big lineshote open, but she still want to

(55:44):
cross court with him and got thekill. Now we get to see the
jump top spin from Thomas Eilara.Let's take a listening to the crowd.
I liked it. As it goesoff the top of the tape, middle
of tack, Greeve cross body, ask Burness to stop. Robinson comes in,
tries the tip to the left back, but it's safe to the right
side. Lady at Cologne off showoff, tending off booth out and it's

(56:06):
down. It's a point for Miamiand guess what, We're tied again.
Whereas the Badger's defense starts scrambling, scrambling, the crowd noises starts rising.
It's just they get more and moreexcited if somebody dives to the ground and
they're hoping it gets over, butthen it didn't. At the end eighteen
eighteen, already at Cologne for theHurricanes will serve once again those three Badger

(56:36):
passers in the back row. Fansstarting to get loud now holady Cologne jump
topspin service error hurricanes her a cantat that time. Oh, excellent,
excellent, I like it. Nineteeneighteen. Here's you the O show serving

(56:58):
from the middle of the end line, jump floats it to the right back
at her idea Cologne spinning pass upfront, right side. That's yr didn't
she right there? As oshow withthe stop left side fright flint well shock
sliding in his box. Miami,we'll attack to the right. Where didn't
she? And she got the blocktouch, got it. It goes out
of bounds, but there's a touchup front at the net and we are
tied again. Yeah, Miami isplaying a much smarter game this time,

(57:22):
just better defensively, better passing farfewer hitting errors. That's They've got thirteen
kills in just four errors now, hitting two twenty five, so compared to
the first set, so much better. Yeah. They hit minus one fifty
six in the first Wisconsin hitting twosixty five in this set. Serve goes
at Franklin pass all the way tothe right, backpedaling set by Asperger Robbinson.

(57:45):
He terminates on the right. That'stough to do. She's backpedaling on
that sideline the right sideline of Wisconsinand just kind of flips it up and
backs out of the way. Yeah, asburn got shoved to the right sideline
like you said, and she's soathletic and great body control, she just
flipped it up, got out ofthe way. Robinson, nice fast arm
off the outside blocker's hands and outof bounds. Hamil will serve. Wisconsin

(58:09):
needs five points for the second setvictory. We've had seventeen ties in the
set. Hamilt serving from zone oneto the left back of Miami. Good
pass box setting. Your dimps gotspalled to the far side corner and in
that was a great shot from theright side, just far deep cross court
right on the end line there, dim She with her fifth kill in six

(58:32):
errors and guess what time number eighteenin the set Miami ed Wisconsin slugging it
out in the second served left orright by the canes. Ojell guides the
pass up on left side. Franklingot the kill off the top of the
block as it sails down twenty onetwenty Wisconsin. Was a big swing by

(59:00):
Franklin. Just sawt to serve receivedthere, so Miami didn't get any points
there. I just banged off thetop of the block and deep out of
bounds. Franklin's three kills away fromreaching one thousand. Here's Sarah nasty serve
passed backwards toward the bench and nowa free ball to Wisconsin. Franklin gets
it. Might have been headed outright side. Smrack, Oh, get

(59:21):
out of the way. I hada smack, climb the ladder and crush
is one twenty two to twenty.Yeah, Franklin freeball perfectly put her right
on the net so Crawford could jumpand hold the middle blocker with a quick
set fake and then the back setjust smreck and she just had a one
on one slip block. She boundedit down. Yeah, big time kill
for the Badger's twenty two twenty anda time out taken by Miami late second

(59:45):
set with Wisconsin up one set tonone in this match, it's the Badger's
twenty two Miami twenty. You're listeningto Wisconsin Badger Volleyball presented by Goodman's Jewelers
providing Sparkle the Madison for ninety years. Wait with you from the field house.
Here is greeve to serve grieve jumpfloat zips one in at Ojo to

(01:00:10):
the left side. Thomas All rattlesat right between the two blockers of Miami
Wisconsin, climbing closer to twenty five. It's twenty three twenty one. Yeah,
really nice passed by OsO. One. Thing about running a two cetter
offense where you do not have acetter front row who might be dumping the
ball. Because you don't have topass it right on the net, you
can be much more careful. Youcan pass it from the five to ten
foot line and you still run someoffense served in Miami right side boat pass

(01:00:36):
bounces it in front of Handle onthe right back. Yeah, she beats
booth inside. Just buscott. Justtake more cross quarter away and she'll roop
that thing. But you've got alefty there, and it's a little different
angle and hits some things. Righthanders can't hit it. Miami and Wisconsin,
back and forth. We go,Hurricanes down by just one. Now.

(01:00:57):
Late in this second set, Pelicianothe Libero floats a deep backpeddling passed
by Franklin the high one to handleup front to the right side. Sprek
huge snash off Grief, but shewas underneath the back to grief in the
back girls. She'll take a hackat it. O Joe dives and saves.
Thomas Hilara winds up from Pops onecost court and it's set point in

(01:01:19):
the second. Yeah, this isthe Thomas Eilara that I think everybody was
waiting to see that she's had herwhole career hitting like this. She's just
looking really comfortable out there, andshe's took over with nine kills for the
Badgers, hitting four thirty eight timeouts. Miami on set point, I believe
are we out of breaks? Arewe? Let's take a break? Twenty

(01:01:45):
four twenty Wisconsin on top by twoat set point. You're listening to Wisconsin
Badger Volleyball presented by Goodman Steelers, providing spark on the Madison for ninety years.
She's star. It's in Vully Bowl, prone to you by good Munch's
Jewelers, Madison's Diamond Store, anda whole lot more. Four and one

(01:02:07):
Miami versus six cindo Wisconsin here atthe field House, John audious and be
wait with you. It's set pointfor the Badgers. And the second twenty
four twenty two, following the Miamitime out, it's asper and behind the
line is he fires it in leftback Greeve for the pass up rop to
Vierra, right side Loppez right betweenFranklin and Oakshow and the backgro and it

(01:02:30):
falls. I'm starting to get hotthere. Lopez another nice swing, six
kills in one air. She's sendingthree fifty seven for the left sea on
the right side. Really, themost efficient attacker for Miami tonight is Lopez
twenty four twenty three set point numbertwo for the Badgers. Second crack at

(01:02:52):
it. There comes to serve byVok tamm Me with the past to Aspur
and quickset tipped by Booth in themiddle, Vac underneath it backrow. Grief
winds up over the triple block rightoff the hands of Asburn high bumps at
Franklin. Here Thomas Alara things offthe block, saved by Grief as she
guinds it up front. The vacright side block ends it r tips she

(01:03:13):
got rechected and Wi Scotson captures thesecond set and that's that was a little
tight to the right side lefty. They've got two lefties, both right sides.
They come in and out, andthat time Booth did hit cross cord
and she rooted it twenty five elevenin the first twenty five twenty three and
the second, and at the intermission, Wisconsin leads Miami, who sets it
on Wet's take a break. Whenwe come back our intermission interview, we'll

(01:03:36):
get to meets freshman at Sage DamnRow and that interview comes your way.
Next. You're listening to Wisconsin BadgerVolleyball, presented by Goodman's Jewelers, providing
Sparkle to Madison for ninety years onthe Vegger Sports Network volley Ball. Hee's

(01:03:58):
time for your Veger Bully Fold intermission. Would board here is the volleys your
volleyball John audience eighteen ties and sixthleads. But Wisconsin it's able to get
by Miami by two points in thatsecond set twenty five twenty three and the
number one ranked Badgers lead the Hurricanestwo sets to none. It's time for
tonight's intermission interview. And I caughtup with Wisconsin freshman Stage Damn Roll before

(01:04:23):
the start of tonight's matts and Iasked her why she chose to play at
the University of yok Wisconsin. Ichose Wisconsin mainly because I love the team
culture, and I knew from ayoung age when I came here the way
that they communicated with the team, like the coaches. It was just so
open and I love that about it. Is that the main thing about that
team culture or what else about theculture really intrigued you? Yeah? I

(01:04:45):
feel like that's the main thing. We always say, bring everything on the
table, nothing under the table, and that's really important to connect with your
teammates and connect with coaches. AndI love that because there's just nothing that
my teammates can't know. Talking withfreshman and Stage Dambrow here at the break.
So what I've been doing here thisseason interviewing players, I do a
little rapid fire so you're ready forthis. What do you love most about

(01:05:08):
volleyball? I love being a liberobecause you have to be so tenacious and
that's my favorite part. What positionwould you play if you weren't a libero?
Oh? Center? And why becausethey control the whole court, Like
it's Libarro and Cetter that controls thecourt. Favorite app Instagram? Okay,
what's second on that list? Fisco? What is that? Fisco? It's

(01:05:31):
like a picture app you can justlike post any picture you want. And
I really like that favorite movie anygenre? Oh, me before you?
What is that about? It's abouta girl who's like a caretaker for this
guy who is a quadriplegic and theylike fall in love and yeah, all
right, excellent. And favorite TVseries Gray's Anatomy. Oh interesting, old

(01:05:54):
school? Yeah, I love itright, Thanks for the time, Yes,
thank you all. That's Freshman stage, Damro here at the break back
more after this US. You're listeningto Wisconsin Badger Volleyball presented by Goodman's Steelers,
providing sparkle to Madison for ninety years. This is Wisconsin Volleyball, wrote
to you by good Munch Jewelers,Madison's Diamond Store, and a whole lot

(01:06:15):
more. John Odious and Pete waitwith you. The Badger's up two sets
and none over Miami. Overall hittingthree thirteen is Wisconsin O seventy seven for
Miami. Sammy Thomas Alara has ninekills to lead the way for Wisconsin.
Eight kills from Franklin other scorers aroundBig ten volleyball teams involving the Big Ten

(01:06:40):
Michigan and winner over North Carolina inthree. It was Duke sweeping Michigan State
in three Penn State over Temple inthree. Indiana upended Valparaiso in three.
Rutgers with the three zip win overMorgan State, Central Michigan and Iowa battle
but the Hawk guys one in foursets. Maryland top Coastal Carolina three two.

(01:07:04):
Nebraska not playing tonight, and theonly active one is Minnesota tied with
Oregon at a set of piece herein Madison. It took eighteen ties and
six lead changes, but Wisconsin ableto beat Miami twenty five twenty three.

(01:07:24):
Miami warmed up or thought out orwhatever you want to call it for that
second set, and they were awhole different team. They'd played much better,
very few extreme hitting airs and somereally good shots, much better ball
control. I think it was thefact that the coach went to the two
center offense, but both out ofthe back row, so they had three
hitters in the front, just likethe Badgers. But that seemed to settle

(01:07:45):
things down for them. And hereis one of the Wisconsin centers. Is
he Aspurn to serve six aces thisseason, one hundred sixty four in our
Wisconsin career, still trying to chasedown the record. Serves at Harredia Cologne
here's back to her ready colone andshe bombs one down the line for the
kill. Again. Setter got pushedto the right side and she just set

(01:08:06):
it straight up and the Badger blockwas there waiting. But Cologne did a
nice job just going high scene tothe end line for the killing. Two
point seven kills per set last year, three point six this year for Cologne.
Right at Franklin, tot hasburn slide. Robinson, Yes, prosscort In
down for Devin number four tonight withno hitting errors. So good passed by

(01:08:30):
Franklin. And again, that's justsuch a hard system to defend with the
Badgers. When the Booth runs aquick in the middle and Robinson comes from
the middle to the right side onthe slide, the defending middle blocker has
to stay on Booth, so you'regonna get a one on one for Robinson
on the slide. And she's beenreally successful with that. Tammy Thomas with
a jump top spinn it might havegrazed the video board. Vock hat Tood
jumped up set to Lopez and shetips it out. That was right at

(01:08:54):
her ready at Cologne on the rightback, and I believe it might have
touched the weight, Vok reacted,it probably touched scoreboard as hard as the
Badgers are hitting it, they might. I was gonna say, start thinking
about raising up the scoreboard the videoboard. But they benefit from it when
the other team's banging it off thescoreboard and can't play the next ball.
And that one nearly grazes the scoreboard, but it's an overpass back to Wisconsin.
After Tammy Serve and Robinson snap ofthe risk, gets one deep and

(01:09:17):
in off the deep fence point Wisconsinthree one, and Tammy Serve is now
giving the Canes some issues. Yeah, that's how I'm boots round of thirty
one again. The fake thirty onekeeps the middle blocker over there long enough
for Robinson had a split block andshe just pounded at high seam the deep
court. Here's Tammy that one intothe net three two. So Miami gets

(01:09:39):
a free point off this serving errorby Thomas Ai Lara. Here's Cassiano,
she's a transfer from Syracuse middle blocker. We'll serve right to left, lofts
it over right at Osho sticks topass asperg middle booth down rist Away to

(01:09:59):
the row of Miami, and Wisconsingets the point four two. Well,
I preferred passed by oser so theycould run that quick set in the midland.
It looked like Miami who was eventrying to block three up there,
maybe even two with the left sideblocker coming in and committing on it.
But she still went risked away insideof her. Here's Oje after right,
caught by Cologne, good pass vocrights, or there's Lopez with the kill

(01:10:23):
cross Gordon deep to the near corner. Lopez has got a fast arm over
there on the right side that left. He's doing a nice job, nice
cross court shots at the sideline. She's a freshman from Puerto Rico, And
like you said, yeah, Imean she's their top attacker at this point.
Now, yeah, she was kindof a good career. Ohjell sticks

(01:10:44):
another pass passper the fam blocked,Miami comes up with the block, and
I think that was the setter ofVac who pretty much got all of it.
I was about to say, Lopezis gonna have a great career in
Miami, but these days with thetransfer portal, she could be at Wisconsin
next year. We have no idea. Four four It was Lopez a Thomas

(01:11:04):
backpedaling pass aspurn from the back rowsets to Franklin and it's Doug and it
might have been off the video boardto get on the box setting to the
back row and a whistle stopping playbefore that, and it's a double contact
against the center. Yeah, that'sso hard for a center to take the
ball when it's I don't even know, forty five feet high coming at her
at the net. To try toget a clean set out of it.

(01:11:27):
You know, she wants to useyour hands, but she knows it's risky.
She got called on that one fivefour, number one ranked Wisconsin leading
Miami. Third set. Here's Hamillfor the Badgers left right Grieve, great
pass to bon back right, Lopezgot it off Thomas a Laura. Really

(01:11:54):
a nice play set that time Byami, a nice pass and the center now
she is playing front row. Vacca'sback in there, playing all around this
time, and she sets to theright back position and you've got Lefty swinging
over there with all much of ablock up because the block Franklin was in
on the center. Breathe into thenet. Six to five. The Badger's

(01:12:16):
leading the third. Franklin with eightkills in this match, three kills away
from reaching one thousand. She's behindthe line right now, and then she
gives a point right back into thenet. Six six Policiano Albero for Miami.

(01:12:53):
Franklin's passed to the Leftojo has itbumps out over to Tom. This
is Laura cross court, but itstopped. The Canes go to the light
side and it's Cologne with the killdeep back row. Miami takes the lead.
Now Franklin will be subbed out.We have not seen Goucherkin yesterday or

(01:13:15):
any set tonight yet, but she'sin there to pass. Give Franklin a
little break. Rest up, itgoes right at Gigi guides it to Hammel
left s te It's Thomas II Laurathe kill for the Badgers, and she
soars in and slamms it from theleft pin. So Thomas EI, Laura

(01:13:35):
has reached ten kills tonight. Yeah, you say soars And she's also got
just such a nice high reach onthe ball, big jump and reaches high,
just goes high to the deep lines. A nice swing, good kill.
Here's Crawford pass shank to the leftoff the lebarrow. Miami free ball

(01:13:56):
to Wisconsin. Crawford pushes tight toHimmel left. Miss Laura boxes off the
block for the kill and I swingdown the line by Tommy over the setter
off her hands and then deep endline again. The setter's not a little
small out there. Blocking five toten does not have a huge jump either.

(01:14:17):
Crawford with the Badgers up by onein the third set, fielded by
Miami back row Lopez Man, sheis just swinging tonight kill from the back
right tie at eight. Yeah,I'd like to see a replay Aden see
where the ball went because the Badgerblock has just got to close that up.
Maybe Booth was a little late gettingover there and she found a scene,
but she can see the block reallywell. She hits the right shot

(01:14:40):
for the right occasion. Eight apiece Thomas Ey Laura on SERVI receive spins
to Hamil right side, set upfor spreck off the top of the block,
sliding in Peliciano right side Lopez. There's oh hill, Hey, she
caught it for the Badgers at thedigs any time, Yes, Thomas E.
Laura rips one cross court and nowshe's up to eleven. It kills.

(01:15:02):
This is the player who led Northwestern, you know, and kills because
of those kind of shots that she'sjust getting more and more balls and she's
in a great rhythm correction. Twelvekills now for Thomas Ai Lauo, which
ties her season high. That's fourseventy six hitting percentage. It's really good.
Yeah, last night she was sevenfor seven kills and hours in an

(01:15:23):
ace. Frashburn right off already atCologne on the right back career ace number
one hundred sixty five, one awayfrom tying the record. You know,
it's you got Izzy serving from theright back to their right back, and
you're going through serving over the topof three tall players, and it's really
hard for that passer to even see. Already, Cologne picks up that serpent

(01:15:44):
on the run. It the bumpsat vack back rope, got it,
drops it between Ojo and Ashburn isAshburn dives to her left, Ojo behind
her dives to her right. Ballhits the floor. You know, it's
not legal for blockers to move andblock the view of passers, but just
those three standing near each other doesn'tleave many much space for them, and
they're so tall for them to seeas passers to see that ball coming until

(01:16:08):
it just gets over the met andjumps right on him ten nine, Wisconsin
third set lead. The Badger's uptwo sets in one over Miami. Tonight,
Vieira Thomas Lara shoves it to Ashburn, bumps up back to Tammy underneath
it. Feliciana with the dig weftside three flies in pushed back by Robinson

(01:16:30):
picked up Miami in a free ballto Wisconsin. Oshow guides to Ashburn to
the right, Robinson looking for atouch. She goes along and it points
to Wisconsin. Where did the touchget called or was the net violation?
Net? Miami's not arguing net violationagainst Miami after what would have been a

(01:16:53):
hitting error. Wisconsin eleven Miami nine. Getting close to the midway point of
the third, as the Badgers aretrying for another sweep, Thomas II Lara
chump top spin into the net.Nope, Yeah, the Badgers had a
sweep last night of Arizona. Themove to six and l trying for a

(01:17:14):
seven and oh start to the season. The six and oh start the best
start since eight and no in twentytwenty one. There comes to serve by
the U that was by Castiano.Thomas Lara has to just kind of flip
it over. Here's grieve left side. But a double contact ball handling error

(01:17:38):
called on the set twelve ten Wisconsin. Yeah, boutch this. She didn't
have to work too hard to getthrough that ball. And that's usually if
the centers really are making an athleticmove and they chuck at the officials don't
call. But if they're just standingthere and they make it they mishandle double
contact, they'll call it. Ohshow cross got to the back row out

(01:17:58):
assist in Miami, bump sets itto grieve on the left side block was
there? Got the text Tenny withthe great dig up foot. There is
a shove by Crawford wide. Yeah, that's time. Missy led Crawford a
little bit too much towards the netsand she couldn't reach and get her hand
on that ball before it hit thetop of the tape and continued out of
bounds. One point lead for theBadgers. Leisconsin up two sets to nine.

(01:18:24):
Already up Cologne. Check at Lopezjump tops in Thomas. Lara has
Aspern on the rod. Here's Franklinon the left side, off the top
of the block, and save Miami. There was another on another ball handling
error that one was called against Tahata, who said it, it will be
interesting to see if Miami's coach stickswith this setter, because this is what

(01:18:44):
started issues in the first set.And the other center coming in was doing
a nice job with a rhythm andshe she was playing. Both setters were
playing back row, and Batcha's afifth year senior and she's having those issues
to theary if he's the acc centerof the week. Here is Hamil back
row. Here's left side shot byGreed played by Hamil and a start little

(01:19:11):
bump over in a free ball.Wisconsin barely got that one over creef left
side, I tip over the block, pancake save Hamil played off the net
by Franklin. Shelf over by Oshoe. Free ball to Miami. We play
on left side. Greed rattles offthe block, Oshoe sticks it up front,
right side, smack up candid save. It's save Passien Line brought back
in playing a free ball to Wisconsin. Tammy guides it to hamml right side

(01:19:33):
to smack another save and a whistlemet violation against Miami. Miami's mental blocker's
not arguing about that. I mean, great rally and the crowd loved it
long rally and Hamil had a pancakein the middle of it, so crowd
loves that even more. Miami's beenreally sloppy this set, ball handling errors

(01:19:53):
into the nets. Yeah, it'scosting him and they're only three points down
and the setter's had three mishandles herself. Yeah, in this set, Miami
down by three. Now offensively they'rethey're crushing it three eighty five. Just

(01:20:15):
kind of these unforced errors. However, Wisconsin, though, crushing it a
little bit better for thirty eight threepoint Wisconsin lead. Midway through the third,
here is Hamil to the back row, set up slight back Lopez.
She's over the line. Lopez comingout of the right back. Just the

(01:20:36):
set was a little tight. Sheplanted her put on the line. You
can't do that. Back Road Techcalled point Badgers. Fifteen to eleven Wisconsin
and once again one of these unforcederrors. Miami just gifting Wisconsin points in
this set. Right now, it'sall about discipline, you know, the
team this most disciplining generally wins Hamilfrom zone one to the middle back and

(01:21:01):
eggs for handy Jay gets it sixteento eleven. I don't know if anyone
calls her handy, but I wentwith it. Five point lead, six
ten to eleven Wisconsin in the thirdset, the Badgers on a four nothing
run up two sets and one time, Miami. You're listening to Wisconsin Badger
Volleyball presented by Goodman's Jewelers providing sparklingMadison for ninety years. Will come back

(01:21:30):
to Wisconsin Bustlers at two twenty StateStreet, Goodmunsteelers dot Com and dig it
out in the case where the Miamibrings us back by will Smith South Beach
not bringing the heat. Tonight,Wisconsin up two sets and one and right

(01:21:55):
now on a four nothing run, sixteen to eleven the Badger's lead. But
I think you know the first setwas a lot of hitting errors and deep
shots by Miami well out of bounds. Second set was their best set.
They hit two thirty nine but gotbeat by two. This set just unforced
ball, handling, error, netviolation, back row attacks and they're piling

(01:22:17):
up. It's the difference in thescore basically from being tied down five.
What a suf filiciana for Hamil unsureof what to do on serve receiving,
she just kind of backed off toolate. There was a perfect serve right
between the two passers the middle andthe left back, and just went high

(01:22:39):
end line and just one of theirshoulders. When it's doing that, you
don't know whose it is. Youdon't know if it's in or out my
serve. Hamil makes it seventeen toeleven. Now the badger's on her own.
Here's Vieira to the left side, stopped by Wisconsin. Vierra to the
right side. Grieve with the hightib Smacker runs into O show. We'll

(01:22:59):
both get up right side. Greedpower shot out on the sideline. Yeah,
Greed took a big swing at thatball and she's been doing well but
just missed it, just down tothe right on the right on the left
sideline. There, here's Hamil sixnothing run now MJ two aces in this

(01:23:25):
set. Hamil goes back row tightpast to the net, one hand set
up, poked over by the canes, grabbed by Wisconsin. Here's Franklin on
the left, big bomb right atRosato to the left side. Miami attacks.
There's a whistle in the net violationagainst Wisconsin, and it was popped
out by Anderson. But it's apoint to Miami. Yeah, I think

(01:23:46):
it was Smrek was in the neton that one. She was an arguing
about it the Scots and in controlup by six. There comes the served
by Grieve. The badger's played toHamlet to the left side. Franklin.

(01:24:08):
Yes, Franklin torches one to theback row nineteen to twelve, and so
for Sarah Franklin, she is nowtwo kills away from reteen one thousand.
He had Smreck faking in the middleand Crawford running the slide behind and again
the middle blockers just frozen there andjust enough to get a nice gap on

(01:24:28):
the outside block and Franklin nice highswing to the scene deep endline. Now
Franklin serves in Miami's out of systemback row. Greeve off frank good.
She did a good job serving, but there's Grieve from the back row.
She grabs kill number eight. Tonight, Well, Crawford was alone on an
island. They're trying to defend theback row attack or alone. Smreck got

(01:24:50):
caught on the outside, Tidy gotcaught on the left, actually Shark on
the right side. They just didn'thave time to get into help her.
Serve goes at Julia. There's aset from Camel to Smart and it's a

(01:25:15):
point to Wisconsin and sprinkton pound onwhich she just took a little off which
she saw the block was there, just threw it down in front of the
right back defender and uh, youknow, soft enough for it didn't go
all the way to her and don'tgot to kill seven point Wisconsin lead.
And now the Batchers are five pointsaway from a sweep tonight and a seven

(01:25:38):
to no start to the season. Here's Boyer into the match. Good float
served to the left back of Miami, right side to Anderson. Boyer pops
it up Hamel setting Thomas Lara intothe block and it's stuffed. Miami records
block number four tonight, but theytrail by six and Miami's trying to hang

(01:25:59):
into the down six here and theBadgers have just been much better rhythm.
Miami has been making a lot moreerrors. Sutter's coming. There's Sutter's road
hanging back in now. And she'sthe one who made the ball hand in
the years already, so we'll seeif she can do any better. Thomas
a Lara left back, goods teckingin the middle back goes you'll right back

(01:26:23):
here comes to serve, it goesat ten or pass backwards off high off
the hands Scoochs Teching high bumps athere is Smack rolls it down perfectly in
the donut for the kill. AndI think that serve was going high and
out of bounds, but they stillsemi played it, and Smereck just really
looked like she's gonna go up inclober and just nice open hand roll.
Shots of the center court and ahigh five from head coach Kelly Sheffield to

(01:26:46):
Goods Teching. He always talks abouthow how well they play outer system.
When Goods techn is forced to toset for them and a foot falls is
rare, by aspiring, yeah I'veever seen her do that? No,
yeah, I saw it too.Yeah, you're right on it. Foot
fault on the serve by Aspern. It went out of bounds anyway, so

(01:27:12):
it would have been a point nomatter what. Twenty one fifteen, Here's
Cologne rights to left at Timmy stinkspassed. Aspern has to dive in a
bump set off speed. Thomas E. Lawa played once twice, third time
grieb Right there at the stop isTemmy right side of Robinson, Dude,
smash one handed dig back to Robinson, shall pop it back over for the

(01:27:33):
kill. Robinson's kind of laughing afterthat overpass kill because she kind of mishit
it, but it landed perfectly inthe twelve foot lane center court. Robinson
now seven kills, no errors. The Badger's overall three forty one their attack

(01:27:55):
percent it's thirty nine kills and eighterrors twenty two to fifteen. Here's Timmy
Thomas eilawer the serve. Wisconsin upby seven in the third tine for the
sweet power serve, but a greatpass block didn't moved. Lopez rejected and
saved by Miami. Lopez from theright rejected and saved by Miami. To
the left side. There's greed againBooth. Then Robinson saved. Get it

(01:28:20):
out and the crowd loves it.Lopez had two swings on the right side
and she's been scoring. She hadnine killed careers prior to that. And
theyd blocked her twice and then theyset her through to the outside to try
another attacker and the big block waswaiting. Eighth block is a team tonight
for Wisconsin twenty three fifteen. TheBadgers two points away from the win tonight

(01:28:44):
back after this break, you're listeningto Wisconsin Badger Volleyball presented by Goodman's Jewelers,
providing sparkle to Madison for ninety yearsopen. Wisconsin leads Miami in the
third set and triumph for the street. John Odius and Pete wait with you

(01:29:04):
six and oh and top ranked Wisconsinfour and one and unrankes Miami and Thomas
I Laura, who had six aceslast night, I was yet to find
the floor and a serve tonight rightat the labarrel, perfect past though middle

(01:29:24):
of wid a cat error by Pasianoand it's Matt's point in Madison. A
great pass, but a really riskis set by the center going for the
back one on that ball at thispoint of the match instead of a little
safer swing somewhere else. Fans ontheir feet. Thomas II laa serving on

nation, perfect so far through itsfirst seven matches, and the Badgers end
that set on a four nothing run. Yeah, the Badgers, you know,
came back in that third set andreally approved they were the better team.
Miami showed up and they just couldn'tsustain the clean play and the great
shots that they did in the secondset, and the Badgers took that one
going away. Twenty five eleven, twenty five, twenty three, twenty five,

(01:30:32):
fifteen. Wisconsin is a winner heretonight at the field House. Well,
coming up on the post match showonce again, we'll run through these
stats for you, both team andindividual. Plus we'll hear from associate head
coach Gary White and a Wisconsin playertwo as the Badgers are victorious and now
seven and ozho this season. We'llbe back in a couple of minutes,

(01:30:55):
and you're listening to Wisconsin Badger Volleyballpresented by Goodman's Jewelers provide Sparkle to Madison

(01:31:17):
Steelers, Madison's Diamond Store, anda whole lot more. Three sets to
nine, Wisconsin is the winner.Tonight over Miami, and the Badchers go
to and oh here at this tournamentthis weekend in Madison, Arizona and Miami
will actually be playing tomorrow night atseven pm right here in the field house.

(01:31:42):
Meanwhile, the Badgers are as Imentioned now seven and oh. After
the win, let's take a lookat the final stats. And Wisconsin got
off to a really quick start inthis first set tonight. The Badchers went
on a couple of big runs, led by as many as fourteen that would
be the difference in the final scorein the first set, but they hit
three twenty and they held Miami toa minus one fifty six attack percentage.

(01:32:06):
Twelve hitting errors by the Hurricanes inthat first set, three kills from Sarah
Franklin, three from Timmy Thomas,Ai Lara, and the Badgers Pete would
win twenty five to eleven. Butthat's kind of the story of that one.
Was four blocks by Wisconsin. Butthe rest of those twelve errors or
the remaining eight or just unforced andsome are really bad. Yeah, Miami,

(01:32:30):
I know, if they're over hyped, get coming into it and just
trying too hard to find the bedroomblock and just couldn't find it, but
they sailed some balls way out ofbounds. Badgers didn't have to play any
defense or make any effort to gettheir points. They got freebies to be
fair though, and that second setthey really corrected that. We really didn't
see throughout the rest of the massreally didn't see a mis hit like they

(01:32:51):
had several times in that first set. Second set saw Wisconsin hit over three
hundred three thirty three second straight set. They were able to do that at
Miami. They'll played a lot better. In fact, there were eighteen ties
and six lead changes overall in theset. Sammy Thomas Ailara fired off six
kills while Sarah Franklin followed that upwith five kills, and Wisconsin got by

(01:33:15):
by two points, twenty five totwenty three. And that was kind of
the best we saw Miami play allmatch tonight. Yeah, if Miami can
improve and become that team on aregular basis, set after set after set,
they're they're good, solid team. They were taking the Badgers to limit
on that second set, but theyjust didn't sustain it into the third.
And you know, the first andthird were way off as far as point

(01:33:35):
totals. In the second, theywere a good team third set, and
once again Miami started making some mistakesand most notably ball handling errors. We
saw a backgrow attack. I thinkat least one net violation. I think
there are maybe three ball handling errors, and they just started gifting Wisconsin points
in the third set, and theBadgers took full advantage, winning in the

(01:33:59):
third by a score of twenty fiveto fifteen. Wisconsin hits four seventeen in
the set, Miami hits OZ seventyfour in the set, and the Badgers
take it in three. Team Wise, overall, Wisconsin ends up hitting three
forty one. They're one of thebest in the nation and hitting percentage,
and that's just gonna do nothing butup their total. They came into tonight

(01:34:23):
as a team hitting three twenty two. I think that was around eleventh in
the nation. So they hit threeforty one, thirty nine kills, eight
errors. Miami hits O seventy sixpet, thirty one kills and twenty three
errors. I'm just gonna double check, but I'm pretty sure that might be
a season opponent low for the defenseof Wisconsin. Let's see if I can

(01:34:44):
find that. And some of thatwas their defense. Some of that was
just it's maybe just intimidation. There'spart of it, especially in that first
set where Miami might have been littletoo intimidated and they just made a lot
of errors and then the ceto.It was in the third set, misshandled
number of balls. That's I'm sureshe doesn't do on a regular basis,
but maybe she was rushing things orshoes a little, you know, tense,
trying to set the ball too quickto beat the Badger block, and

(01:35:06):
that is an opponent. Low Oseventy six assists, thirty seven four Wisconsin,
thirty four Miami digs forty two forthe Hurricanes, thirty six for the
Badgers. Wisconsin was plus four inteam blocks eight to four and behind the
line after having eleven aces last night. The Badgers go at three aces seven

(01:35:28):
errors, Hurricanes one ace, fiveerrors, and Wisconsin wins it in three
here tonight in front of a selloutseven two twenty nine and this one took
one hour and twenty eight minutes. All right, we'll take a break.
When we come back, we'll takea look at the individual statistics from the
match tonight, and we'll hear fromassociate head coach Gary White and a Badger's
player as well. All coming upon the post match show. You're listening

It's Carter proof for the big timeboot block of Pasiano Jous at the

but it's rejected and down point Wisconsinafter Grieve just fired a fastball right into
that Wisconsin wall. Vierra to Temmy. I passed to m J. Hamil's

setting Franklin Flower shot again and it'sgood crosscourt. As she goes, I
believe inside the block to the farsideline point Wisconsin. Burney bucks at Franklin.
Here Thomas Eilawa thanks off the blocksaved by Grieve. As she guides
it up from the block right side. He block ends yard tip she got

(01:36:54):

A hidden error ends it. Thisevening in Miami, can't handle the heat
and Madison tonight Badgers sweep the Hurricanesthree set victory and now seven to oh
for Wisconsin, number one ranked teamin the nation, perfect so far through

(01:37:39):
its first seven matches, and theBadger's end that set on a four nothing
run and welcome back post match,Joe continued John addious, if het wait
with you there as some of thehighlights from tonight's Badgers win in three sets,
now joined by Wisconsin's Anna Smrek, who went off for seven kills,
hit four sixty two and recorded acouple of blocks and you missed at the

(01:38:00):
start of that highlight reel, buta lot of blocks by Wisconsin. He
had eight here as a team throughthrough three sets. How'd you see it
on on the court here tonight?I mean, you know, they're a
good team. They scrappy defense andthey're digging a lot of balls, so
you know, in the long rallieswe just thought, you know, extend
stacked the good and you know, press those hands over the net and get
good touches. And yeah, yeah, I see Miami. Really in that

(01:38:23):
first set, they had a lotof wild shots or deep shots. I'm
not sure if they could you tell. Were they just trying to go off
high hands? And how did youdid you do make any adjustments as a
block? I think I mean, you know, especially being our size at
the net, we always talked aboutjust getting low and over because you know,
teams see high hands and they willtry to use that. So in
our hands, maybe that is whatthey were trying to do, but in

(01:38:44):
our minds we used to think lowand over. Yeah, it didn't work.
It didn't work at all. Well, actually they showed us replay of
a pall they were challenging and youwere right there blocking. You were low
and over and it was really goodand if you were able to see that.
But also my question was from theright side there, I think you
had an open hand roll shot tothe center court. Is that's something you
until you came in with to theprogram or you learned when you're here you
do very often? Or it's likewhoa that was great. I definitely have

(01:39:05):
grown into that shot a little bitworking on it. We spend a lot
of time in practicing varying depths andstuff, and I've worked a lot with
coach Gary as well, working ondifferent stuff in hand contacts, so over
time as well, and then greatballs from you know, setting me up
as well. So what is itlike to be in this offense where at
any given night, so tell meyou had seven kills seven errors last night

(01:39:26):
and now she leads the team withtwelve kills tonight. Sarah Franklin has been
so consistent. It's actually her firstmatch this season she doesn't have double figures.
But does that help your offensive flowwhen when the other team has to,
you know, account for all thisother firepower. I mean, that's
just one of the great strength ofour team is that we do have so
many attackers on the court who cando so many things. And you know,

(01:39:46):
I think spreading out our offense isa really good strategy for us.
And you know, knowing that wecan trust anybody who gets the ball is
really important. Your team goes ona four oh run to end it year
tonight, Can you just kind oftalk about what these two matches met for
your team, two three set victoriesover you know, two teams here coming
here this week. Yeah, Imean it's really big for us. You

(01:40:11):
know, we had two back toback games and we've been playing a lot,
practicing a lot, so our bodies, you know, we're feeling it
a little bit, but it's pushingforward, taking care of ourselves. What
do we do to prepare for thegame, and you know, what do
we do after as well to preparegoing into the next Offensively, you have
a number of different place that's what'syour favorite to run a thirty one to
one? Back said, Hi,what do you like a mixture of things?

(01:40:31):
You're going out of the middle.I really like the B with MJ.
We've been connecting really good on that, but hot as well. I
mean we worked allan and they don'treally know what oh B. Yeah,
So that's the thirty one. That'skind of the gap of the net run
a little bit away from her andthen the hut behind is when I'm hitting
just on the right. All right, Well, thank you Anna so much
for the time. We love watchingthose that soon because man, when you

(01:40:54):
when you reach that contact point atits highest point, it's you're unstoppable.
Thanks, thank you. Anna. All right, that's Anna Spreck here on
the post match show. You canhand that headset over to associate head coach
Gary White as the Badgers win inthree sets here tonight, and we'll talk
a little bit about this one withcoach White. You know, it seemed
like Miami. What kind of adjustmentswould you say Miami made specifically in that

(01:41:18):
second set that they were able tohave eighteen ties between the two teams,
and I think it was six leadchanges in the second. Yeah. So
the first couple of weeks of theseason, they've been in the five one
throughout most of their matches, andtonight, as they started going through and
after the first set, they startedusing the six two more one to get

(01:41:38):
three attackers across the front row atall times, and they wanted to get
their their lefties involved as much aspossible back behind one. What Anna was
talking about the hut this swing atthe right antenna. So that was one
of the adjustments they were making.Uh. And then it was kind of
for us just being able to wewe were creating some long rallies in that
second set, we just weren't finishingthem. What I was really proud of
is we were still a low airteam. We weren't making a lot of

(01:42:00):
we weren't pressing, trying to dotoo much. Just play the long game,
stretch out the good kind of whatwe talked about last night. Overall,
what was the most impactful area fromthe team? You know, serving
was one of the areas that reallystood out last night against Arizona. In
your opinion, what stood out themost tonight? The first part would have
been serving as well. With ateam that plays at the speed of what

(01:42:24):
Miami was trying to run, ifyou get that set her on the move
or get her off the net,it makes it a lot more predictable where
she's going in your block and setup in a better position. So I
thought our service did a really goodjob. Super proud of the turnover our
team had over the last twenty fourhours. Miami coming in here two days
ago and they didn't have any matchesyesterday. They just got to practice and
our team school started on Wednesday. We had a match last night, a

(01:42:45):
match today, and so being ableto balance all that out. We only
presented twenty minutes of film on Miamicoming into this match. But I was
really proud of our team just takingthe general concepts we were giving them and
just being able to stay in focusedin the mind of what's going on without
trying to press or do too much. So I'm really proud of them for
what they did there. Yesterday Timmyhad seven kills seven airs. Tonight twelve

(01:43:08):
kills, three airs. Was itanything special the coaches talked to her about
between games yesterday and today, orjust kind of let her get back to
who she is really as a playerthat she was at Northwestern for so many
years. When when she is drivingon her last two steps of her approach,
that's when she's taking her best swings. She's able to hit with range
in those situations. We thought whenwe went back and watched the film from
the match yesterday, there's a littlebit of a delay at the final part

(01:43:30):
of her approach and that was kindof taking taking her into different spots and
sometimes she'd hit a little bit lower. Today, I thought she did a
really good job of seeing the senthen taking her last two steps finally to
finish in a good position with wherethe sea is that something you talked to
her about then and mentioned that toher, showed her, Yeah, she
probably has written her year all thetime, sitting there right in that in

(01:43:50):
that second chair. She's here andaccelerate, accelerate, accelerate once that ball
is said, of really driving intothose last two and between her and Sarah,
the kinds the same of when theydecelerate, we go off speed a
lot and players can get easy digsin that, and we want to be
attackers that accelerate through our attacks. So you get a couple of unranked opponents

(01:44:13):
after going you know, Arkansas acouple of times, and then Tennessee with
those ranked opponents, course Baylor tostart the season, and now it picks
up again for you with as faras ranked oponents. I mean, this
non conference is flying by just twomore matches remain Number one, How excited
are you or do you get excitedknowing that you're gonna have a huge crowd
on Wednesday at Advisor Forum and whatlikely will be a sell out there,

(01:44:36):
and then you have to travel toface a really tough top five team in
Florida. Yeah, So first off, Marquette phenomenal team, phenomenal program,
and what they do over there thatmatch and Milwaukee is going to be a
great spectacle to play. I mean, that's that's the pride of the state
of Wisconsin, between the two programsthat are going there and just so many

(01:44:56):
fans that are coming. A lotof high school programs are coming to watch
that. I know our players lovedplaying in that Cold Center match last year
and they loved being on that stage. And when you talk about where you
want to be in December, you'vegot to experience that and then it'll be
a phenomenal part for us. Andthen Florida on the back end, there
may not be a team that's playingbetter than anyone than Florida. They had
one of their outsides who was outthis past weekend. That's why they went

(01:45:18):
five with one of their matches. But watching them crushing against Tanford, you're
like, this team is legit topfive team in the country. They've got
attackers across across the front row,two freshmen that are playing phenomenal. It'll
be two really, really good matchesnext week. Thanks Gary, Thanks guys.
All right, that's associate head coachGary White. As Wisconsin is able
to up end Miami in three sets, Let's take a look at the final

(01:45:41):
numbers before we wrap things up here. On the post match show. For
Miami, no players had double figures, but they were led by Grace Lopez
nine kills, two seventeen. AngelaGreeb had eight kills, hit one twenty
nine, did contribute with nine digsalready at Cologne, finished with six skills
and five errors. Yardmici had fivekills and seven hitting the air was a
negative attack percentage. Vak the settersixteen or excuse me, seventeen assists and

(01:46:04):
six digs. We saw Vierra setas well, ten asis and a dig
for her, and that's pretty muchall for Miami the Badgers. As you
mentioned, that's interesting to hear aboutTammy Thomas Ailara and the adjustment seven kills,
seven errors last night, but man, she, like you were saying,
she looked much more efficient obviously threesixty with twelve kills and three errors

(01:46:25):
tonight. Yeah, she's just kindof getting comfortable in her own scanning,
the environment and the new program everything, And it was great that the coaching
staff saw some things on the videoafter that match and probably live in during
the match yesterday that they could talkto her about and just improve from yesterday
to today. And she was awhole different player today I mean the serving
was great yesterday, but the offenseat the nets, she was just off

(01:46:45):
a little bit and she just wasn'tas aggressive and explosive going at at the
attacks as she was today, andby the results, sure showed it today.
Yeah noways this tonight five digs andthree blocks or tammy. Sarah Franklin
had nine kills. So that's snapa streak of consecutive matches and double figures
for her. Let's see what wasthat number dating back to last year,

(01:47:06):
nine in a row with ten ormore kills, and she had been gone
double figures every match this season untiltonight with nine hits two thirty one,
and she remains two kills away fromone thousand seven from Robinson with zero attack
errors for sixty seven seven from Smrekhitting four sixty two with five diggs and
two blocks. Carter Booth went threefor nine, no errors and seven blocks,

(01:47:29):
Caroline Crawford a block and a kill, twenty two assists, six diggs
and two aces from MJ. Hamill, thirteen assists, six diggs and one
ace from Izzy Ashburn. So ishe now with that ace one hundred and
sixty five in her career? Onefrom tying the school record for most career
service aces and two from setting anew record. Cool Ja Goochtecken had an

(01:47:50):
assist tonight. O Joe at Lebarrowhad ten diggs and an assist as the
Badgers improve to seven and l Andlike I was talking to Gary Pete as
we wrap things up here from theu W Fieldhouse, next week is going
to be right back in it withtwo essentially road matches, one basically neutral

(01:48:11):
side at five Serve is gonna begood. But that's that. Like you
talked about that State Pride, that'sthe top twenty five team in Marquette,
and then you gotta go to Florida. Yeah, but good two days here,
you know where they played good, solid teams, but they had to
adjust some things and they came outon top in three and both set in
both days. But now they getto rest a little bit heading into that
match in Milwaukee, which is abig match. It's exciting for the state,

(01:48:32):
exciting in that venue, exciting forthe fans and the players. So
that should be a lot of fun. And then obviously the Florida match,
so they're gearing up and then theyhead into Big ten pretty soon. So
they're improving things. They're changing thelineup here a little bit here and there
and getting a little more solid.Yeah. I mean, the non conference
is over after that Florida match, and then it's on the road at Northwestern
and the Big Ten starts to grindout as you look for a fifth straight

(01:48:54):
Big Ten championship. Well, I'dlike to thank Sean pre Bowl for producing
tonight in Madison for Pete Wade.So long from the field House, Pete
and I will be on the MikeWednesday night at five Serf Forum when number
