That's METS Plumbing, mets plumbing dot com. That's the website

(01:47):
as well. All right out in Omaha Coastal Cruises, Arkansas
implodes I mean, that's the that's the story. Coastal Carolina
took care of business yesterday, jumped out in front early
to a six nothing lead at the end of the

(02:12):
first inning, but they would expand their lead in the
bottom of the fifth to eight nothing over Louisville. The
Cardinals would scratch across three runs in the sixth to
make it eight three. Coastal answered in the bottom of
the sixth that would two runs of their own to
take a ten to three advantage, in which they would
push to an eleven three victory. The Chanticleers say it

(02:35):
with me, now everyone.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Everybody say it with me.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Shante clears.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Shante Clears, not chanticleers, Chanticleers.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
The Chanticleers are in the College World Series Final book
it they will take on LSU, who won the Nightcap? Well,
I don't know did LSU win the night Cap or
did Arkansas lose it? So first off, let's talk about

(03:05):
the here and now and some of the terminology. I
gotta give some credit to individuals on social media who
used the phrase disaster class. Like most of the time
we talked about a master class, but disaster class was
a phrase that I saw from several different people online
last night after the meltdown in the bottom of the

(03:30):
ninth with two out. So well, technically it started with
one out, but here is the scenario, or here are
the scenarios that took place that got us to LSU
versus versus Coastal Carolina. So first off, with one out
and runners on first and second, there's a ball hit

(03:56):
to the Arkansas shortstop. He could turn two and in
the game and watching the replay, I have no doubt
he could turn two. But instead, because of where he
fields it, he makes the play to third base for
the easy out, leaving runners on first and second with

(04:16):
two outs. Here's that play from last night's game.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
This time he beat it into the ground.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
ALOI will go to third and he gets the out.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Did they have a chance to get to.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
He went to third to get.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
The lead runner for god, any chance of a double play?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yes, they had a chance to get to They're turning
two on this ball.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
KP Like to me, this is a no doubter or
six' four to. THREE i, mean look Where milin wasn't
even at the at the runners lane When fahiva decides
to throw this ball to third, Base look where he's
at when he decides he's not even in the. Picture
that one really surprises.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Me that ends the. Game so one of the best
players in college baseball does not take advantage of that
moment to end the game For. Arkansas then this happens
with runners on first and, Second arkansas leading five to,
three bottom of the, ninth with two.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Outs this ball is hurt to left field and a bad.
Read it goes off of the left fielders and Davil
on both rooms.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Are gonna come in and we are tied. Again oh my,
goodness he slipped and it looked like it went right
off of his body and we are tied at.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Five so from there the game is. Tied arkansas changes.
Pitchers hernandez is on second And Bear jones is at the,
plate and you could have Walked Bear jones, Instead arkansas
chooses to pitch to him and he hits one just

(06:02):
over the second. Basement it actually the second baseman gets
a glove on. It but slowing that ball down quite, frankly,
fact if he catches it into the, inning you're going
to the Tenth you've lost all. Momentum but slowing that
ball down Allows hernandez to end up scoring from second

(06:23):
base hernandas.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
You can see him there in the, foreground he is
the winning.

Speaker 7 (06:28):
Run he does get one ahead hitch off the glove
of the second basement and here comes NANDIS lsu is
on to the. Finals they pitched To jones and it
bounced off the glove of Cam kozel and The tigers
are going back to the.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Finals and just like, that in a, seventh less than
seven minute, stretch including all the pitching changes and reviews
and pitches and, everything in less than seven, Minutes arkansas
and really in just three, plays, right three three moments

(07:11):
of action went from being on the cusp of The
World Series championship games to being out AND lsu And
coastal will face, off both teams still undefeated out In.
Omaha that will change On saturday in a best of

(07:33):
three series between The chanticleers and The Bayou. Bengals and
For arkansas, fans you, know the meltdown was savage because
it wasn't all that long ago that a similar fate

(07:57):
found The Arkansas, razorbacks not in the exact same situation
closer to a. Championship it was the bottom of the.
Night it Was, arkansas and if The. Razorbacks make this
catch in twenty, eighteen they're the national. Champs hopped? Up maybe.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Playabough shotty's over. There Those gates took.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Play nobody gets.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
It, wow an extra life For Caden. Grenure three guys
had a chance add. It Cole shotty And.

Speaker 8 (08:40):
Gates Watch Cartson, Shotty he's coming in. Hard he wants,
it overruns, it wants it way too. Much as soon
as he bumps Into, gates he.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Had no chance at.

Speaker 9 (08:55):
It talk about.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Nerves Oregon state would go on to Win game, Two
they would go on to Win game, three and they
would win The National, championship And arkansas would go home
From omaha without A national championship. Again Billy lucci over

(09:19):
At Texas aggs, tweeting good, Lord, arkansas just unimaginable how
you lost this? Game Aaron fitt saying. Unbelievable d one
baseball by the, Way Aaron fitt, saying unbelievable stuff here In.
Omaha Bear jones walks it off with AN rbs single
which ricocheted off the glove of a leaping Cam kozel
at second. BASE lsu Beat arkansas six to five to

(09:41):
secure a date With Coastal carolina in The College World Series,
final and with That, ARKANSAS i believe some. Passes clemson
is the team that's been to The College World series
the most without winning a national. Title Aaron fit, saying

(10:01):
great googly. Moogli Louis hernandez hits what looks like a
game ending line out to, left But Chuck devilon slips
the ball gets passed him for a two run double
and we're tied at. Five five in the, ninth THE
lsuo has the winning run on, second and of course
they would go on to get said winning run. In
by the, way looking, back that pop fly in The

(10:25):
Oregon State arkansas series back in twenty, eighteen Where arkansas
led won game to, none top of the, ninth two,
outs three guys triangulateing the. Ball it was NOT i
mean have just said that it was the top of the,
ninth not the. BOTTOM i APOLOGIZE i miss misspoke. Earlier but,
AGAIN i don't know how in the World arkansas let

(10:49):
that one slip through their. FINGERS i, Mean alloy fields
the ball and, yes the easy play to, third but
he can see the. Base this is the. Thing he
can see the guy running up first, base and you,

(11:12):
know you're gonna Get you're gonna get the guy out a.
Second you know. That and if you get the guy
at first as, well which you would have based unless
there's an errant throw or something right which they would have,
gotten you win the. Game now that doesn't advance you

(11:33):
to The College World Series. Final you would still have
to PLAY lsu, today but you would have won that
game and.

Speaker 10 (11:44):
In that.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Moment AND i haven't played, shortstop but my thought, is mathematically,
speaking you're up by. Two if you're up by, ONE
i think the player IS popi the. Third even, STILL
i might argue right because once you get the second,

(12:08):
out even if there's a runner on, third you Eliminate
you eliminate the fly ball from being the reason the guy.
Scores you can't just if there's no, outs then maybe
third's the best. Play but if you can end the,
game end. It at least try to end, it because
at worst you're still leaving a single runner in scoring,
position and at best you win the. GAME i, mean

(12:37):
you don't go for the. Throat people are gonna say you're.
Cursed and that's the conversation About arkansas today that The
razorbacks The omahawks are cursed In, Omaha aaron fitz, SAYS

(13:00):
i saw a still frame showing Where milam was When
alloy fielded the. Ball my real time judgment was. Wrong
it looks like a double play that definitely could have
been turned, regardless a number of mistakes piled up to
lead to this final. Outcome and FOR, lsu it's their
ninth trip to The College World series finals and they

(13:21):
have won the title in seven of their last eight.
Trips as they will face off Against Coastal carolina beginning On.
Saturday and for The chanticleers, again what an opportunity For
coastal to potentially be able to go out and win

(13:45):
a second national title in less than a. DECADE i,
MEAN i don't know what makes you a major player
in college, baseball but it certainly feels like that is
a good. START a zero, three four five zero zero

(14:05):
eighty six text one and, again you could be a
part of the show, anytime any, place. Anywhere on our,
website where we are still counting down the top ten
coaching hires of all. Time underhead Coach Dabo sweeney At,
clemson we are at number. Three the, Day i'll give
you a quick rundown of HOW i saw. It number.

(14:28):
TEN i Put Todd, bates defensive line coach from twenty
seventeen through twenty twenty, one at number, Nine Robbie, calbwell
offensive line coach from twenty eleven through twenty twenty.

Speaker 9 (14:41):
One.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Dan brooks at number. Eight he was a defensive tackles
coach from nine to twenty. SIXTEEN i Put Tom allen
in a very fluid number seven twenty twenty five. Forward
we'll see how it goes For Tom, allen and if he's,
GOOD i can see umping. Up not, good maybe he
drops down a little, bit BUT i think it's a

(15:05):
fair starting point given his track. Record at number, six
we Got Garrett, riley offensive coordinator twenty twenty. THREE i
think the pomp and circumstance and flash Of Garrett, riley
the fact THAT tcu had just played for a national,
championship the willingness to move away From Brandon, streeter who
was a Former clemson, quarterback and you, know sort of

(15:27):
handpicked to take that offensive coordinator position After Tony elliott
left to go To, virginia and of Course elliott And
Jeff scott we're sort of a combo. There BUT i
Put Garrett riley there based off of last season and
then some of the expectations for this. Year BUT i
think easily if the offense stinks this year and you

(15:50):
read did this list a year from, now Maybe Garrett
riley's Below Dan, Brooks but at this, point given what
we saw a year, Ago i'll roll with. It Mike
reid number five on the list been the has been
the cornerbacks coach of clempsuses twenty. Thirteen number Four Chad
morris offensive coordinator for just a few short years from

(16:11):
twenty eleven through twenty. Fourteen BUT i definitely felt like
one of the keys To morris being pretty high on
my list is that Without Chad morris coming in and
revamping the offense or even, working some of these other
hires don't even happen Because dabosweeney's. Fired and then number

(16:33):
three and a quick rise to number three so far
has Been Matt, Luke and certainly look If Garrett. Riley
when you're in a bigger position offensive, coordinator defensive, coordinator
et cetera versus offensive line, coach defensive tackles, COACH i

(16:54):
mean you've got more's there's more room for you to
blossom up the list in my, Opinion but With Matt
luke what he's done so, FAR i think that he's
the third best HIRE dabos when he has made AND
i believe That Garrett, riley if the offense were to

(17:17):
just be, incredible If Tom allen were to have great,
success maybe there's upward mobility for those guys above an
offensive line. Coach but for, Now i've Got Matt luke
at number. THREE i think most of you can imagine
what number one looks, like and some of, you if

(17:40):
you think through the coaching staff At, clemson could probably
make a solid guess as to WHAT i will put
at number. Two and it will be a little interesting
because it may not be one. Person we'll hold off
on that going to give away too. Much but, anyway

(18:01):
go take a look at the, list just a couple
of more days of, that as we've had a couple
of weeks taking a look At Dabo sweeney's coaching, hires
and there some names that could work their way. ON i,
MEAN i really believe That Chris rump could work his
way onto this. LIST i Think Nick eason could work

(18:22):
his way onto this. List LIKE i don't know what
What Kyle richardson at this point could do to work
his way onto this. List i'm not sure WHAT. Cj
spiller could do to work his way onto this. List
like there's a lot of, work in my, opinion to

(18:42):
be done in order for those guys to get on this,
list like you, got you gotta really start to put
together some some. Results your room has to become, dominant

(19:05):
and that those rooms have not been. Dominant so we'll
see if anybody can crack into this top. TEN i,
mean it's not Something i'd want to do every, year
but maybe every five years or so we'll look back
on it and kind of see where we. Are but
that's my that's up to my top three or to

(19:26):
my number three spot right. There that story's out over
On clemsons sports tut dot com With Matt luke checking.
In given his impact and not just what he's on the,
field but certainly off the, field we're recruiting Man Matt
luke just crushing it For, clemson possibly the best offensive
line class The tigers have ever signed coming in next

(19:48):
season with that twenty twenty six. Class all, right with
a quick, break we'll come back with more on A
thursday afternoon don't Forget Timber ray joins us in a
lawns wa with you on A, thursday coming up our
two Timber, ray don't forget a zero three four to

(20:13):
again be a part of the. Show we Need tomty place.
Anywhere So Diego, pavia who was one of the big
stories really in the world of college football last, year
Leading vanderbilt to a victory Over, alabama and albeit while
the end of their season certainly didn't track to the

(20:34):
level that that victory, Did pabia got an opportunity by
going to court to get a chance to play an
additional year. Collegiately and he was on a show Called

(20:55):
busting with The boys and was talking with the two
hosts of that, program And Diego, pavia who does not
lack for, confidence believe you, Me Diego paba had this to.

Speaker 11 (21:13):
Say vanderwal is gonna Run tennessee after this, Year like
this is gonna be the new staple of like college
foot what's gonna happen here At?

Speaker 5 (21:22):
Vanderbilt do any of you and the boys ever like
talk about, That like we gotta be the state.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
School well we're In, Nashville. Tennessee like if we're in
the music, city like we need to be the brand Of.

Speaker 11 (21:32):
Tennessee everyone wants to come To tennessee because Of, Nashville
so they want to come To. Nashville So vanderbilt and
then when we have like the most money in nil
like why not come? Here so like we literally just
have to win this year and throughout the rest of
the year take care of.

Speaker 9 (21:48):
Itself do you Think vandy will have the most money
in the game OR.

Speaker 11 (21:52):
I think we'll be up. There, Yeah but Like, Snashville,
yeah there's a lot of big hitters around. Here, yeah
they just need a team to believe. In, yeah that's
all they.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Need, there you, go they got the big, hitters they
got the big. Cash Diego pavi is, Saying vanderbilt is
gonna Run tennessee after this. Year this is gonna be
the new staple in college. Football it's going to happen
here At. Vanderbilt. NOW i don't know what the rules

(22:26):
are on endowments and the impact that the endowments might
have on, sports but if there's a way to make it,
happen and if your endowment can be indicative of the

(22:49):
type money that's in and around your, university then Maybe
Diego pavia is on something or onto. Something some people
might say yeah with a take like, that, Soy Diego
poppy is definitely definitely on. Something that's not WHAT i,

(23:10):
mean onto. Something Because vanderbilt is one of or has
one of the largest endowments in the, country which means
they have a ton of graduates that have, money and
obviously some of the factors behind The vanderbilt family and

(23:31):
how the university got its, name. Etc might be a
part of. That but endowments aren't solely used, for you,
know one particular. Thing about half of most endowments go
towards student financial, aid eighteen percent go to academic, programs

(23:57):
about eleven percent go for in dowed faculty, positions seven
percent of endowments tend to go for facility, operation and
then seventeen percent go for what's currently labeled as other. Purposes,

(24:18):
now public schools versus private, schools how much information do
we really know about some of these private schools and
the totality of their endowments and things of that. Nature
i'm not. SURE i don't tend to Think Diego pavia
has hit the nail on the head, Here BUT i

(24:40):
do like the fact that he's at least willing to
swing the hammer a little bit and stick his chest
out a little bit About vanderbilt Versus. Tennessee and in
this nil era and in this New College Sports commission,

(25:06):
era it has made some of those programs who typically
may not compete may be more. Competitive AND i actually
saw an article With virginia athlet Director Carlo williams saying

(25:27):
that she was quote very optimistic that the newly Minted
College Sports commission will effectively enforce The House, settlement giving
The cavaliers quote a fighting chance to compete in this new,
era and schools Like virginia and others are a static with.

(25:47):
It AND i think even more, SO i would imagine
that there would be hopes from universities like that the
salary cap that would would curtail outside it influence and
expenses from being able to or outside influences and finances

(26:10):
from being able to impact the bottom line for, teams
so that competitively, speaking everyone at the power for level
would be held to the same standard in terms of
how much players can, make which would quickly level the
playing field and equalize things across the. Board players could

(26:31):
certainly take less to go to schools that they. Chose
if you wanted to go play At alabama for less
than making more money and going To, vanderbilt you could
choose that. Path but the belief from some of these
other institutions that haven't always been big players is that

(26:54):
the financial aspect of, it and if there's some collective
bargaining that takes, place it will level the playing. Field
we'll see how it all shakes. Out, certainly it seems
like in college. Football we've been saying that for about ten.
Years everything changes so, Quickly but for now some of

(27:15):
these non traditional schools are, like this is better for
us than the old, era and they like. It speaking of,
changes we'll give you some insight into some of the
other things that have been discussed over the past few
days on the college football. Front the, rules the. Rules the. Rules,

(27:35):
look when we were younger and college football was what it,
was the main rule was, like don't pay. Players you
felt like there were programs out there giving five hundred
dollars handshakes and things like, that but the main, rules
don't pay. Players but now that we've got this whole

(27:56):
new situation with the, revenue sharing. Model with the changes
that are coming to the world of college, football in
addition to the discussions about what the college football playoff
format is going to look, like this feels like almost

(28:20):
Remember syracuse back in the, day their defense was kind
of called An amoba defense because of the way they.
Rotated it was that matchup, zone and it was just
so difficult for many years Under Jim. Behim that's the
WAY i kind of feel about like college football right.
Now it's like the. Amoeba it's hard to determine exactly

(28:41):
where college football. Is it's extremely difficult to say what
it will look like next. Season But Ross, dellinger who
writes For Yahoo's, sports put out an article talking about
the college sports, calendar which is something that's certainly and,
shifted writing that the college sports calendar needs an overhaul

(29:06):
and with a single transfer portal opening In january Or
april make the most. Sense dellinger, saying can you imagine
a summer signing day in college? Football what about a
single transfer portal or how about single practices shifted To.

(29:26):
June these are questions that are expected to be answered
by members of a new committee Of Power conference administrators
exploring ways to overhaul the three hundred and sixty five
day football calendar that was originally designed under a model of.
Amateurism college, executives according To, dellinger are reinventing the dated

(29:54):
calendar to marry with The house settlement related to athlete
revenue sharing, model which Begins july, first and according to this,
article they're on the. Clock washington F later Actor Pat
chun Told Yahoo sports, quote it's imperative to our industry

(30:16):
that we make this decision on the calendar By july.
First Once july first, hits teams will start tracking for
twenty twenty, six and we need to know the calendar.
Now this past week In, asheville thirty Two DIVISION i
conference commissioners gathered for their annual summer, meetings and a

(30:38):
host of items were on the, agenda including the future
OF ncaa, governance the college football playoff, format THE Ncuba,
tournament whether it will expand or, not and other issues
may be tethered to some of the changes in the
world of college football will calls up their revenue sharing model.

(30:58):
Now according To, dellinger of all the decisions that the
administrators must make in the wake of this, settlement the
football calendar is the most, pressing and the thing that
he says is kind of limiting the moving forward with
it is the timing of the transfer. Portal he says

(31:23):
that most of the coaches won a ten day portal
period in Early. January administrators as well as coaches in
The Big, ten are supporting An april portal date as
a way to morelign the portal with the academic, calendar
which ends In may and the school's revenue sharing cap

(31:47):
ends In. June the portal's date not only impacts decisions
on spring, practice but it may determine if a second
portal window will continue to. Exist he says THAT sec
coaches who want The january portal date agreed last month
they'd prefer keeping two portal windows over a single window In,

(32:09):
april and the problem with that is is that The
Big ten wants things more aligned with the academic, calendar
and so there's a battle bruin between THE sec and
The Big, ten not only about the, portal but also

(32:31):
about the playoff and what the playoff format needs to look.
Like The Big ten doesn't like the fact that THE
sec currently plays eight conference games while The Big ten plays,
nine so there's just a lot to be, settled and
it needs to be settled quickly because It's june. Nineteenth

(32:55):
july first is right around the. Corner and so as
the college sports world, turns the two marquee conferences right
now aren't in. Alignment even though they put that put
out not long, ago right what was it about a
year or two? Ago kind of a loose. Partnership they're

(33:19):
not really in alignment on how things should end up.
Looking and maybe the best scenario is one where this
falls out of the hands of the conference commissioners and
the coaches and the administrators from all these, Schools and

(33:41):
maybe the best case scenario is that The College Sports
commission just comes in and puts these you know rules into.
Place it, says this is what it's going to. Be
give us your, input but this is what it's going to.
Be BECAUSE i don't think the conferences are ever going

(34:04):
to be able to really align on one, thing because
everybody wants what's best for their conference instead of what's
best for the. Whole and SO i think that The
College Sports commission and the individuals that become a part
of that have to start asking, themselves what do we

(34:27):
believe is the best for college. Football and if that
is two portal windows or, one or whether it's In
january Or, april and none of that. Matters what matters
is what's best for college, football not what's best for
The Big, ten not what's best for THE, sec what's

(34:50):
best for the. Sport that's where this needs to. Begin quick.
Break we'll put the bowl on hour number. One don't
Forget Tim ray joins Us. In Actually Clemson sports taught
the Show The chase of South land on A. Thursday all,
Right so at The College World series last, night the
meltdown of epic proportion By arkansas up two runs in

(35:14):
the ninth inning with two, outs The hogs completely fall
apart And Charles, davlin who was the left fielder For,
arkansas was absolutely crushed after the, game just completely. Destroyed

(35:36):
and really all of. That AND i saw some people,
say BECAUSE i question like why would the second base excuse,
me why would the short stop alloy go to third
instead of trying to turn the double? Play and a
lot of people, say, hey look the and this may
have come out in the press. CONFERENCE i hadn't heard
the whole press, conference but then maybe the coaching staff, Said,

(35:57):
hey get the force out at. Third if that's, easier
just take the force. Out let's get the two outs.
Anyway the next batter after they took that force out
at third instead of turning a double play that would
have put them in a. Winner advances to the championship
game today AGAINST. Lsu the balls hit out To dablin
in left, field AND i know people want to put

(36:25):
a lot of what happened on him in that, moment
BUT i gotta, say like watching that, PLAY i struggle
to really put a whole lot on him because that
is a first, off it's a well hit, ball And

(36:45):
i'm not even sure That dablin really had a good
beat on it before he sort of lost his. Footing
if there's an error that he, makes like from the baseball,
standpoint to, me it's that he didn't just sit back

(37:06):
on it and let it bounce and hold all the
runners and have the bases loaded at that. Point Like
davlin went for the, win alloy and that play prior to,
that they didn't go for the. Win that, play he
did not go for the win because if the play

(37:31):
before is made to go for the, win then we're
not in this, situation AND i know he was distraught
and heartbroken about, it but, if if if there's anything
to be critical, of it would be that he could
have sat back much Like alloy, did and he could
have allowed the ball to bounce in front of him

(37:51):
and held the runners at. Third but he played to
win the. Game and, yeah it's part of the, reason
not the whole, reason That arkansas's season is. Over but
Here's arkansas's head Coach dave Ben horn after the game

(38:15):
talking About daveling in the. Situation were you able to
have a conversation yet With chuck and to see a
player go through, THAT i, mean how difficult is?

Speaker 2 (38:25):
That you?

Speaker 10 (38:25):
Know, YEAH i went down and he finally made it
to the bench BEFORE i came up, here and, he's,
yeah he's pretty. Distraught BUT i just told him. STRAIGHT i,
MEAN i started telling him that how MUCH i appreciated
him and we would never have made it here without.
Him and he said that he was, sorry AND i,

(38:49):
said don't tell me you're. Sorry that you don't have
to tell me you're, sorry and he said it, again
AND i, mean it's, tough.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
And it is. Tough but as we mentioned, earlier the
heartbreak Or arkansas At omaha, continues AND i just, say
man of the. Plays, now the guy that made the last,
play the second baseman where the Ball kareem's off of his.

(39:18):
GLOVE i, mean he's trying to win the game given
a plus. Effort if he lets that ball go through,
right maybe there's a play to be made the. Plate
MAYBE lsu doesn't send the. Runner but the play that
everybody needs to be focusing on and talking about is
the one where they did not try to win the.
Game whether that was a coaching, Decision i'm not. SURE

(39:41):
i didn't see that highlighted. ANYWHERE i could try to
look it, Up but either, way whether it was the
player or the, coaches that moment Where arkansas didn't try
to win the game is ultimately what cost. Them you
try to win the game there the worst case there's
a guy on first and, third you don't try to win.

(40:04):
There best case is there's a guy on first and.
Second AND i don't see the difference in all that
when the other outcome is to go for the win
And arkansas fall six to five after giving up three
runs in the bottom of the ninth inning with two,

(40:27):
outs unbelievable, meltdown melt down the epic. Proportion then that'll
set UP lsu And Coastal Carolina game One saturday, night
seven o'clock ON. Espn game two will be On sunday
at two thirty ON, abc and then in if, necessary

(40:51):
game three On, monday and again both teams undefeated out
Of omaha as fans flock Towards. Omaha speaking Of, omaha
we got to give you the update On Roco's Jello shot,
challenge which, is, huh who La shoes put this thing

(41:12):
in the bag, already as they have purchased twenty five
thousand and sixty One jello shots and it feels like
it's more than everybody, else but when you total them,
up it's. Not And i've learned not to do you team.

Speaker 9 (41:28):
Dumb you know how to get mad.

Speaker 12 (41:30):
WHEN i call you a.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Dummy but either, way here's the totals for the other teams.
Individually not eighty seven thirteen For, arkansas eight thousand and
sixty For Murray. State Murray state is still in second.
Place shout out to The. Racers sixty seven eleven For,
coastal nineteen hundred and sixty four For Oregon, state seventeen

(41:55):
one hundred and sixty one For arizona and fourteen hundred
and ninety two FOR, ucla given the other seven schools
a slight lead over l S u by about four
thousandello shots or. So all, right quick, break Timber age
one is an hour two each time For Clemson Sports
talk With Lawton. Swan it is our number. Two that's

(42:55):
drivetime right here on the show that shakes the South,
Land Clemson Sports, Talk long swanning out with you on A.
Thursday Clemson hall Of, famer Longtime CLEMSON sid Timber ray
joins us, momentarily and of course the Show The shakespeare
South land brought to you in part our good friends
over AT Mets plumbing seven three two drip, drip drip.

(43:16):
Drip you know the jingle seven three to two, drip
THAT'S Mets plumbing Mets plumbing dot. Com Timber ray joins. Us,
tim welcome. In how are you, Lot great to be with. You,
yeah we missed you last, week but you had a
big time there at the Eighteenth GREEN Jj spawn with
what a sixty four foot putt to win it. ALL

(43:37):
a pretty impressive finish For, spawn for.

Speaker 12 (43:40):
Sure you, know it wasn't an extraordinary, opening but it
didn't start out like people then. Thought you, Know I'm
i'm in the eighteenth tower with the with the, announcers
got to work specifically With Mike, turrico and you, know
when we came off the air On, friday they were
kind of, like, well this isn't the greatest leader board.
Ever at the halfway, point the top ten players in

(44:02):
the world were combined seventy over par so there were
a lot of no, names but not just the. Guys
but then you, know On sunday he had such great.
Competition at one point we had five guys tied for the,
league and you, know And scheffler was still still around the.
Periphery but it was a very exciting. Finish it's a

(44:24):
different type of. Courses it's so hard with a rough so,
big and then the way Jj spahn finished up was.
Extraordinary so how about this for a Stat all year
he had not made a putt of thirty five feet or,
more and then he did it twice in the last
seven holes of the final round of THE Us open to.

(44:47):
Win he made a forty four footer on the twelve
hole and made a sixty four footer on the last,
hole and the sixty four, footer by the, way was
the longest putt anybody made in the entire.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
Tournament, WOW i did not realize, that BUT i do
know that it. Was it's what kept him as the
only player in the field under. Par and you got
to see the. Conditions AND i know there's people that
are critical of how THE Us open does, it but
let me ask you, this what would the average, golfer you,
know just your Normal joe that maybe you go out

(45:19):
and golf. With what would they shoot on the course
like that when when some of the great players are
just you, know fifteen over and things like.

Speaker 13 (45:28):
THAT i would say. Probably, now if you're talking play
by the rules and you, know count every shot and put,
Out i'd say about one twenty because it's just so
penal if you hit it in the rough and it's
just uh, no just just, amazing how.

Speaker 12 (45:53):
Difficult you, know it's one thing to have the rough
five inches, tall but it's another thing to have it's
SO i, mean you, KNOW.

Speaker 14 (46:01):
I, thought you, Know spith hit, one you, know about
two feet uh and and and out of the you,
know from the, roughs and it was just many many
shots that. Way it was really important.

Speaker 12 (46:15):
To drive the ball in the. Fairway roy McElroy for, Instance,
uh one of the Stats i've researched in the, holes
he drove the ball in the fairway during the, tournament
he was three under.

Speaker 14 (46:26):
Par in the.

Speaker 12 (46:27):
Holes he did not drive it in the. Fairway he
was seven over. Par so it was a ten shot
difference for, him the number two player in the, world
just between hitting and rocking.

Speaker 9 (46:37):
Out that's.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Unbelievable, again Follow Tim beray On twitter At Tim burray and, So,
tim while you were, gone we didn't have you last
week because of THE Us. OPEN a couple of names
were inducted Into Clemson's ring Of. Honor AND i know
you have a big part in That Michael Dean perry and,
football but your good Friend Larry pinley in men's, golf

(47:00):
give us some insight into that. Honor For Larry, Penley,
yeah two great.

Speaker 12 (47:08):
Selections. Coach is a very rare to get inducted in
A ring of honor in your first year of, eligibility
but that was the case With. Larry and of course
he had an extraordinary. Resume the Only clinton coach to
win a national championship in a spring sport or non

(47:29):
fall sports for that. Matter but his level of consistency was.
Unbelievable thirty he coached for thirty eight. Years thirty seven
years there was AN ncublea tournament all thirty seven years
he Brought clemson into THE ncaa. Tournament and of course
in THE NCAAs you have a regional tournament and then
you have a national. Tournament he Got clenson in the

(47:52):
national tournament every year from nineteen eighty four to two
thousand and. Four credible twenty one year run. There one
is still a record holder for regional. Championships and then
disbla golf history won TEN acc. Championships and you, know

(48:12):
just was unbelievable in his development of. PLAYERS i think
thirteen of his players have been on the THE Pga
tour one time or, another of, course led By Lucas
glover who won THE Us open in two thousand and.
Nine so and you know the other thing About larry
is he was outstanding at the end. TOO i mean

(48:34):
his last year twenty twenty, one won THE Acc. Championship
he was the district coach of the year in three
of his last five, years so and in five different.
Decades he won THE Acc coach of The year, honor
one of only two coaches to do that in any
sport in the. League so incredible resume For.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
Larry tim will circle back To Michael Dean perry, momentarily
but one of the questions that a listener had for me,
was everybody knows what the THE i guess you would,
say kind of the anointment of The ring Of honor
for football means you're gonna get your name Inside Death,
Valley but what what what happens for guys Like Larry
pinley or other individuals who are In Clemson's ring Of

(49:19):
honor in terms of. Placement is there a? Facade is
there somewhere you can go and appreciate those? Individuals people
were asking. Me quite, FRANKLY i didn't.

Speaker 12 (49:28):
Know, yeah each home facility has had a, display and
obviously the most recognizable and prominent is In Death. VALLEY,
uh and there ARE i believe there's some clubs and
the works TO uh have a museum AND i think
they'll obviously they'll be a strong a presence of The

(49:51):
ring Of honor. There but the for, golf for, instance
there's a there's A ring Of honor display at the practice.
Facility it's one of the little it's on coliseum and the
and the and the in the. Concourse there's signage at
the track for the. Track, uh ladies and men who
have gotten in the in The ring Of. Honor so it,

(50:11):
is it is at each of the home. Facilities.

Speaker 15 (50:16):
Uh but you're, right, probably and we're hoping that we
get to get a museum and we have a more
prominent display for The ring Of honor, people because really,
football obviously is it gets the most.

Speaker 1 (50:29):
Attention AND i would take it one step. Further people would,
ask you, know what's more, prestigious The hall Of fame
or The ring Of Honor AND i certainly know The
ring Of honor. Is but with all your connections to
both of, those you know, entities if you, will where
would the retired jersey in your mind kind of rank
amongst Those because we've got players that have retired jerseys

(50:53):
but may not necessarily be in The ring Of.

Speaker 12 (50:55):
Honor, yeah you, know the the retired jersey rule At
clemson is is, different and the retired jersey rule is
between the head coach and the athletic. Director, so for,
instance to get in The ring of. Honor you have

(51:16):
to be A clemson you have to be a, graduate
doesn't have to be From, clemson but you have to
be a graduate from a four year, school and you
have to already be in The Clemson hall Of. Fame
so in that regard you can see that The ring
Of honor is above The hall Of. Fame but now
retiring of a number is basically between the coach and
the athletic director at the. Time for, INSTANCE. C. J

(51:38):
spiller's number twenty eight was retired the year after you,
know he left in twenty, ten and so you, know
obviously he wasn't in The hall Of fame, yet but
he still had his number. Retired so that's that's always
been a situation between the coach and in THE linux

(52:02):
director and it hasn't happened very very. Often but, yeah
when you get in The ring Of, honor doesn't mean
your numbers. Retired that's a separate. Situation Jack leggatt's number
was retired number, seven the year after or a couple
of years after he. Left, uh he's in The hall Of.
Fame he's not in The ring Of honor. Yet i'm

(52:22):
sure he will at some. Point so there are that's
is kind of three different levels of.

Speaker 1 (52:27):
Awards Tim berey's On twitter At Tim, beray the Longtime
climpson sid And Clemson hall Of famer joining us here
on the. Program so let's circle. BACK i promise we
would To Michael Dean perry in his induction into The
ring Of. HONOR i think what's really unique About Michael
Dean perry maybe in some respects kind of like Uh
Sterling sharp And Shannon. Sharp his brother is probably the

(52:49):
more revered guy in terms of kind of the mindset
of a lot of, Fans william The Refrigerator, perry But
Michael dean was the guy that really performed not only
at the collegiate, level maybe better than his, brother but
then certainly in THE nfl.

Speaker 12 (53:06):
Level that's, true but that doesn't have anything to do
with what you do in THE. Nfl really doesn't have.
ANYTHING i, mean it can't, hurt, obviously but it doesn't
really have anything to, do you, know with getting in
The ring Of. Honor i'll be honest with. It the
only Reason William perry's not in The ring of honkon
he didn't his. Degree william had a better career At

(53:29):
onson When Michael dean. Did he was three Time All,
american three Time ALL acc And Michael dean had had
a great, career but he didn't come back and and
and get his. Degree so, really LIKE i, SAID i
mean to be honest with, You Michael dean WOULD i
Mean william would be in The ring Of honor he
if he had come back and gotten his. Degree But

(53:52):
Michael dean had a terrific. Career, also he was a
Consensus All american as a seam finalist for The Aland,
trophy the Only Island trophy finalist of h that we've,
had Although Mick hyatt might have as an offensive line
and also when it was top, five And Michael dane
was when it was just the top. Three and then of, course,

(54:15):
uh you know with the A Cc player of The
year As william. WAS i think there's only been five
defensive players or six defensive players who have BEEN acc
overall a S C player of The, year And Michael
dean And william. Were H we're we're two of. Them
But Michael deane has been at about for for a
while and So i'm, Gladdy uh he finally got.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
In NOW i think about what you just said about
you Know william not being in because he didn't. Graduate
uh is? THERE i, mean in your in your, mind
who are who are some other individuals that you think
would be in The ring Of honor if they did
have their? Degree are You are you willing to share

(54:57):
some of those? Names?

Speaker 12 (54:58):
Yeah, YEAH i MEAN i hate to single lot guys,
that but a guy that comes to mind that would
be an automatic As Bruce. Murray you, Know Bruce murray
took our soccer program to do national championships and he
won The Heisman trophy of of Of soccer his senior.
YEAR Dj trahan certainly would be from the you, know

(55:24):
from the golf, program AND i Say Horace grant would
be in terms of a Basketball but that's. That that
stipulation is very important to the. Committee The ring Of
honor goes back to nineteen ninety. Four Bobby robbinson's started,
it and everybody who's ever been on the committee feels,
that you, know you can get in The hall Of

(55:45):
fame without having your, degree BUT i think that The
ring Of honor should be an extra step up and
and that everybody in there should have a.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
Degree there you, go that makes a lot of. Sense
BUT i think it does clear up some name that
maybe people walk around and, GO i wonder why that
guy's not, In and there's part of the reason for
a couple of those big names, here As Tim burray
hangs out with. Us, So, tim since you were, gone
we got the New College Sports, commission uh and the
changes after The house versus THE ncaa committee or whatever

(56:20):
the ruling, was was called your thoughts on sort of
the changing landscape and the new commission and what the
future could look.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Like, Yeah i'm not one hundred percent SURE i know
all the all the. FACTORS i, mean people seem to
be excited about The house. Settlement they think it's going
to a level of playing. Field i'm still not sure
how that.

Speaker 12 (56:48):
IS i, mean, yeah he does bring up the question
how much money do you? Need Uh, so if everybody's
going to be able to uh use you, know twenty
million dollars to uh to get kids to come in
ON nim, deals but then you're still gonna have UH

(57:09):
acc schools VERSUS sec, schools where THE scc schools are
gonna have more money coming from the television. Deals so
there's still gonna be some disparity. There, so but you, know, hopefully,
uh you, know hopefully it's gonna it's gonna it's gonna.
Help we'll just have to see how it goes going.

Speaker 1 (57:28):
Forward, yeah, MY i think my biggest question will, become you,
know is there gonna be some sort of collective bargaining
that goes on to set Up AND i know you
AND i in the past have talked about the transfer
portal and and not necessarily your stance on, it but
your thoughts on the rulings being that if some you,

(57:49):
Know johnny science student can transfer any time he, wants
that's kind of the free flow movement that players have.
Gotten but, man when you start talking about paying these,
GUYS i can't imagine that the portal or the ability
to move because you can't, like even if you don't
like professional, sports if professional sports were run the way

(58:12):
college sports are currently being, RUN i, mean it would
be chaos and that kind of feels like what we.

Speaker 12 (58:19):
Have absolutely, no you're you're one hundred percent you know.
Correct it'd be. Interesting although he really hasn't done any
very many, interviews it'd be interested to See belichick's. Comments
and it's the difference between the college game and THE
nfl game in regard to. That, obviously the THE nfl

(58:41):
game is is more structured and designed to have some
degree of you, know of. Parody and SO i just you,
know so you would think something in the line is
going to have to take place along the link of
a collective bargaining your. Agreement but right now you know
who who was gond of in charge to make that.

(59:02):
Happen somebody's got to jump to the forefront and be
a leader and convince uh people to do do you,
know do? It and then the other thing you have to.
Take you, know, Why LIKE i THINK i told you this,
before why are we in This we're in this situation
because of the basic laws of. Society like LIKE i

(59:24):
just you, know said to you many, times If i've
got a, student he's free to he's free to transfer
to wherever he wants to go in any other. Time
and so when that comes up in, Court i've been
having rules that you, know a kid can't. Transfer it's
amazing it's lasted this, long you, know quite, frankly but you,
KNOW i just don't know where it's going to, be

(59:46):
what it's going to.

Speaker 1 (59:47):
Be in final, thing tim The College World, series we
know the two participants in the Weekend championship to Be
Coastal carolina IN. Lsu but what seven years AFTER i
think it was twenty eight where there was a pop
fly Between Oregon state And, arkansas And arkansas could have
closed that game out and won their first ever national. Championship,

(01:00:09):
baseball the ball falls between three three razorback. Players then
last night the three, PLAYS i guess you might say
they kind of closed that game out where the shortstop
went to, third could have probably turned the double play
and ended the ball hit to the left fielder that
like it bounced off of his the back of his
thigh and scores two runs FOR lsu to tie the.

(01:00:31):
GAME i, MEAN i hate to say the word meltdown the,
boy it felt like it last night watching that.

Speaker 12 (01:00:36):
Unfold you, Know clemson fans have been long suffering when
it comes to history in The College World, series and,
well last Night arkansas Moved annavius on the list of
teams that have been to the Most College World series
without winning. It that was their thirteenth time that they've.
Been clemson, said twelve trips to The College World series
without winning. It but you're, RIGHT i Think arkansas's heartbreakers supersede.

(01:01:02):
CLENCHING i mean last night was just you, know, unbelievable just.
BASICALLY i, mean even though the last play you, know
went off the glove of THE i guess it was
the second. BASEMAN i, mean he had a really leap for.
It it would have, been you, know a terrific. Play
and then you, know the play to the left, field
it looked LIKE i thought at first it hit off his.
HEAD i was surprised that the ball ricocheted that, far

(01:01:25):
just going on with his glove and, shoulder BUT i
guess it. Did and then the decision by the shortstop
that might try for top of double. Play and when
you show the video THAT espn ran how far back
the batter. Was when the shortstop caught the ball, round
you got to believe they could have turned two and ended.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
It, man no, doubt heartbreak for the razorback nation out In.
Omaha once. Again follow him On twitter At Tim. Bray
tim thank you so much for all your. Insight we
love having you On thursdays and have a great.

Speaker 12 (01:01:58):
Weekend yet there.

Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
You, Go Tim berray here on A thursday afternoon and
keep it a lot for More the Show Clemson sports
Talll lott swan with you on A thursday. Afternoon, again
that Was Tim bray before the. Break so some news
out Of tigertown earlier today As clemson Dismissed Marquise henderson
from The clemson football. Team he hadn't been a part

(01:02:23):
of the program very, long just arrived on campus back In. January,
henderson who played this high school ball At Belton honey
a path setting the school's all time rushing, record ended
up coming To clemson and apparently just wasn't a, fit
if you, Will clemson spokesperson putting out a, statement And

(01:02:46):
clemson has made the decision to Dismiss Markus henderson from its.
Program we wish him the best as he moves. Forward
there have been some conversations Around henderson and his commitment,
level according to people in and around the, program and

(01:03:09):
so now The tigers will move forward without the Former
Belton Honey a pass. Star, AGAIN i, thought, PERSONALLY i
Thought Marquise henderson was a bit of a reach. Anyway you,
know there are guys you bring in that you feel

(01:03:34):
like can come in and have an instant, impact And
henderson didn't sort of set that tone for. ME i
thought he was going to be a bit of a.
Project maybe a guy that ends up moving around trying
to find a. Position you, know certainly anytime you're kind
of labeled as an. Athlete could he be somebody that

(01:03:56):
shifts to the defensive side of the ball at some.
Point could it be a guy that plays wide receiver
at some? Point you, know maybe so certainly, dynamic but little,
undersized five, ten one hundred and seventy. Pounds we'll see what,
he you, know looks like, eventually depending on where he.

(01:04:16):
Lands BUT i saw some people commenting That henderson had
maybe even had some issues in high school with just
his focused attention to detail whatever you want to call,
it investment maybe the better word in his. Career but
was a pretty well thought of, prospect but not somebody

(01:04:38):
THAT i immediately thought would have a huge. Impact and you
could happily go back and check any of the the
stories or even the shows that we hosted here talking
About Marcuse henderson when he, committed et. Cetera speaking of,
commitments The tigers did land the commitment today of four

(01:05:00):
star defensive End Drake. Quinn there were some questions About
quinn and whether or not he would be quote all
in With clemson Or. Texas those are his final, two
and it turns out That Drake quinn will come To.
Tigertown we've got more on that over on our. Website,
man he's a he's a great, athlete and he's a

(01:05:22):
kid that changed high school as went From Greater Atlanta
Christians great easy for, Me Greater Atlanta Christian school and
transferred To Beaufort High. School he'll begin his stint At
buford this season and then now with his decision to
choose The tigers over The, Longhorns Drake quinn will make

(01:05:43):
his way To clemson and so a big pickup for
The tigers there on the defensive side of the. Ball
and you know his, commute his recruitment pretty, FLUID i would,
say especially he had a final six which Included Georgia,
Tech Georgia Notre dame In, tennessee but trimmed that list

(01:06:05):
To clemson And. Texas recently Visited texas AND i think
that kind of raised the eyebrows of a lot of
people that maybe he was headed to.

Speaker 12 (01:06:15):
The.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
Longhorns But quinn decides to stay a little closer to
home and he will play collegiately At clemson or plans
to play collegiately At. CLEMSON i guess you got to
say off the heels of And i'm not trying to
compare these two, guys but right we just did a
story about a kid that you thought was going to
be At clemson that won't even make it to his

(01:06:37):
first fall In Tiger. Town and now here's another kid
that's made his commitment, known so he intends to play
At clemson at this. Point and, again you've seen a
lot of, guys and we've seen a lot of guys
flip flop in terms of their, commitment which is one
of the reasons That dabosweeney And clemson try to really

(01:07:00):
do a good job in vetting and limiting the offers
that they put. OUT. Cj, brono one of the kids
That clemson was at one point, recruiting four star cornerback
talking about the, commitments he decommitted From nebraska this. Week

(01:07:20):
so you, know regardless of and he's a four star,
cornerback regardless of how good you, are regardless of how
well thought of a player, is you never really know
what's gonna end up. Happening but for The Clemson tigers,
today a solid pickup with Dra, quinn who's just a
really good, athlete AND i think under the tutelage Of

(01:07:43):
Chris rump will certainly flourish assuming everything holds with his.
Recruitment and For, clemson you, know from that, standpoint you
look at this recruiting class obviously kind of anchored ironically
by the offensive line haul That Matt luke put, together
and he's again our number three higher all time In

(01:08:06):
tigertown Under Dabo. Sweeney but if you look at, It
clemson now up to nineteen commitments in this twenty twenty
six recruiting class and adding Dra quinn into the fold
gives you a real marquee defensive end prospect on the.

(01:08:27):
List and one of the THINGS i think some people
and programs are going to have to learn in this
new fangled era of college sports is that they're going
to be your elite level recruits and then there are
also going to be some guys that really are solid

(01:08:47):
but have to. Work and it's okay that that's the,
case because you have to distribute this money at this,
point you, know amongst, everyone and so you got to
have some, stars and you gotta have some guys that
want to work. Hard you might even have some guys
that are projects that you feel pretty good, about trying
to get as much squeeze from The orange as. Possible

(01:09:11):
but a big day For, clemson a big day For
Tom allen and The Clemson tigers is they get a
signature piece on the defensive side of the ball And Drake,
quinn the four star defensive end committing to The tigers
just a little bit. Ago all, right with a quick,
break we'll come back hard to, believe closing in on
the back end of the. Program BUT i do want
to talk about THE wnba because whether you love her or,

(01:09:34):
hater or however you feel About Kaitlyn, clark there is
no doubt she's brought a ton of attention to that.
League What's London swan with You june, nineteenth twenty twenty.
Five appreciate everybody being a part of the. Program so
we played the clip the other day of about thirty
eight forty seconds Of Kaitlyn clark just dropping threes from
left to. Right and you, Know Kaitlyn clark has been

(01:10:01):
a player who has kind of been a transcendent player
for the women's game and has brought a lot of
attention to the women's, game AND i know that there
are people who feel like some of the support that

(01:10:25):
she gets is only because she's a white women's basketball.
PLAYER i disagree with that statement. Wholeheartedly she gets the
attention that she gets because she's the best shooter in
the women's. Game and What Steph curry did was change

(01:10:53):
how people appreciate basketball and how basketball's played in that
shifted to the women's game as. Well the women's game
WHEN i was growing, up much like the men's, game
was dominated by interior post Players Rebecca Lobo Kandas. PARKER i,

(01:11:17):
mean you could go on and. On the stars of
women's basketball forever have been really the post. Players now
you've You've you've had some Guards Sue, Bird Diana tarazzi

(01:11:39):
that absolutely were. Impactful but along that path of the
game changing and even more, so the metrics of the
three point line and the value of a three point
shooter and the improvement in three point shooting has Made
Caitlin clark not only the most exciting player to watch

(01:12:03):
in THE, wnba but she's the target of other people
who apparently are, jealous at least it feels like they are.
Jealous of, her and So Caitlyn, clark if there's anything
that's kind of changed in her, ATTITUDE i love. It
Caitlyn clark has taken all that vitriol and stuff that

(01:12:24):
she gets and she's turned it into, motivation and, she to,
me seems like a different. PLAYER i think she was
very passive in the. PAST i don't see that. ANYMORE
i see a much more Aggressive Caitlyn, clark and so
much so that THE wnba you're beginning to see a

(01:12:48):
much more physical game where even The indiana teammates Of
Caitlyn clark are kind of tired of seeing her get pushed,
around and they are being more aggressive in the plays
that they're. MAKING i saw in a game Against connecticut
where one of the girls just took a girl out

(01:13:13):
going to the, hoop AND i would imagine some of
that comes back to how people have viewed and how
her teammates see the Way Caitlin clark gets treated in
THIS nba OR. Wnba excuse, me and so here's What i'll.
SAY i don't sit around and watch women's. BASKETBALL i

(01:13:38):
haven't really watched a live game of THE wnba maybe
in my. Life, OH i get.

Speaker 11 (01:13:46):
It You.

Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
I've seen plays here and, There i've seen. Highlights but
WHAT i do recognize now is that more than ever
in my, timeline and on social media and on, television
the coverage is, larger which means there's gonna be more
money available for the girls that are playing professional, basketball

(01:14:11):
and that's a. Positive AND i think that all of
it shifts back To Caitlin. Clark BUT i don't think
unlike some, PEOPLE i don't think it has to do
with the fact of HER i don't think it has
to do with her skin. COLOR i think the fact

(01:14:32):
that she's a white player certainly endears her to a
percentage of the population that appreciates that Appreciated Larry. Bird
and that percentage of the population can be, white, black, yellow, green, purple,
blue or. Violet it doesn't. Matter there are people that goo,
man white girl can play, Right, Like i've been that

(01:14:54):
guy on the basketball, court and you know you're gonna
get Called larry at some point in your. Career if
you're a good white basketball, player you're gonna get, compared
whether it's fair or. Foul lucas gonna get compared To,
Bird he's gonna get compared To Dirk, novitzky And novitsky
got compared to. Birds it's just one of the things

(01:15:15):
like if you're a point, guard you're gonna get compared
To John stockton before you get compared To Magic. Johnson
now if you are a six' nine, point guard you
might get Compared To. Magic johnson like people make comparisons
based off of how people look and maybe how they
play the game, and, white, black, yellow, green purple blul.

(01:15:37):
Or violet i'll say, IT again i don't think. That
MATTERS but i believe when you see somebody doing, something
different regardless of what they. Look like if you're a
fan of, competitive sports you. Buy in and people See
What caitlin clark is doing and they are. Buying in,
they're going we've never seen a girl shoot the basketball,

(01:15:59):
like this and so they. Watch it and the THING
that i think will come next the next stages FOR
the wnba and for, women's sports you are GOING to
i think you're going to see more girls who are
more equipped to shoot the basketball from deep because the
value of the three pointer has, gone up not literally,

(01:16:23):
gone up but if you can find somebody that can,
shoot it you're better off shooting and missing, some threes
then you are shooting and. Missing twos but it was
a big deal for me playing basketball and fight back
in my Time at clemson because you played to eleven
and threes were worth two and twos were, worth one

(01:16:43):
which meant my shots were, worth double which meant if
you were a good three, point shooter you are more
valuable than a guy in the post nine times out.
Of ten and now that shooters have gotten so, much
better they're. More valued and a Girl Like caitlin clark
has changed the dynamic because She Likes steph curry is

(01:17:04):
the best shooter that we've seen playing in, her game
which is in the W N b a final segment
of round.

Speaker 9 (01:17:15):
What have you done for? Me lately it's a. Fair
question just don't lose sight of the, bigger picture don't.
Forget history lucky for Us, at clemson the answers to
the questions what have you done for? Me lately and
what have? You done always are.

Speaker 12 (01:17:35):
The same.

Speaker 9 (01:17:41):
We win.

Speaker 1 (01:18:27):
Final segment On the, thursday, afternoon again Thanking To tim
beret for hanging. Out again college baseball done So, until
saturday so fortunately that's just a couple of days until
we get back. At it as L s u Takes On,

(01:18:49):
coastal carolina it will Be The bayou bengals and the
say It with, me Everyone The. Chanta clears everybody say it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
With Me.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
Shanta clears Shot, to Clears Not Shanta Clear.

Speaker 12 (01:19:02):
Seanta clears.

Speaker 1 (01:19:05):
Got it so that'll begin the championship phase out At
The College world series as those two teams Get underway
saturday at, seven O'clock then sunday at two, point thirty
with a potential Matchup on monday in the little Three

(01:19:25):
Game championship series Out. In OMAHA and i would imagine
there are a lot of people from the State Of,
South Carolina coastal carolina alum making their way out to
See if coastal can indeed hoist another national championship in.
College baseball what a story that. Would be speaking, of
championships don't forget tonight IN. THE nba i think this.

(01:19:47):
ONE'S done i do think this. One's Done oklahoma city
on the Road At indiana, game six a Chance For
oklahoma cite to close out. The pace there's eight THIRTY.
ON abc i think it's. Gonna, happen haliburton, he's injured.

(01:20:07):
Calf injury he's. A competitor he's gonna quote do everything
to play that. He CAN but i think with him being,
BANGED up i don't think there's gonna be enough juice in.
The Tank and i'm gonna go ahead and. BOOK it
I Thought oklahoma city would win. THIS series i thought
they'd likely win it. In Five double low said that
the series is going to seven because he THINKS the nba.

(01:20:29):
Is RIGGED but i don't think that's gonna be. THE
case i think the Injury to halliburton will be too much.
To OVERCOME and i think That The Oklahoma, city thunder
who were the best team all year and for, whatever
reason struggled a little bit in their final couple of
series in. THE playoffs i, think that, you know and

(01:20:52):
it could be just the wear and tear of, the,
Season right but barring something happening To Shake gilgess, alexander
right or, you know something like, THAT happening i think
we're gonna call game Tonight With oklahoma city Winning in.
Indiana again that game's an eight thirty START. On abc,
