oh zero zero eighty six. There you go again, the
text line in the phone line. All right, So yesterday's
program obviously a little technical glitch. Out of the gates.
You didn't get to hear me talk a whole lot
about Clemson in North Carolina. And that's okay. Look, it
was a pretty convincing performance from the Tigers, especially in

(02:19):
the opening quarter, jumping out to a twenty eight point
outburst out of the gates. But real quick, what we'll
do here is get to get you the full convo
that we had yesterday, minus all my talk about Gatlinburg.

(02:41):
Why and I do have this breaking news here the
Sultry Vocal Cords after a week and a half, two
weeks beginning to feel much better. So, without further ado,
our conversation yesterday about Clemson in North Carolina. It was

(03:07):
a mixed bag this weekend from the world to college football,
and I think that's gonna be the norm. And we'll
get to Clemson in just a little bit. But I
think my main takeaway from another crazy weekend in college
football is the fact that this might very well be

(03:34):
just what college football looks like. And I know Clemson
at two and three off of the heels of their
thirty eight ten victory over North Carolina, that record looks
a lot better. But every week it gets progressively better looking, right,
I mean Penn State now with two losses falling in

(03:55):
back to back weeks, losing the Oregon Hey, everybody understands that,
but then going across the country to face UCLA and
losing for a second consecutive week just ratcheting up the
pressure on James Franklin and the Nitney Lion program as

(04:17):
they have continued to underperform. And I think the crazy
part of that story is that UCLA, remember with an
interim head coach, ends up winning a top ten game

(04:38):
Tim Skipper and assistant head coach Jerry Neuheisel, whose father
is Rick Neuheisel, the former UCLA head coach. They end
up beating a top ten ranked I think at the
time it was what top seven ranked Penn State team,

(05:01):
and beating top teams is one of the biggest issues
that has played James Franklin in his tenure at Penn State,
where I think they are four and twenty one but
have not won a game of that magnitude in the

(05:22):
regular season since twenty sixteen, and so you know a
lot of frustrated Nitney Lion fans out there for sure,
a big loss setting them back. Also, Miami taking care
of business against Florida State. The Seminoles make a late

(05:44):
run twenty eight to twenty two to the final score
this weekend. But even now, when you look at the
Atlantic Coast Conference standings, and I think it would have
been better for Clemson obviously if Floor the State had
beaten Miami, because Clemson does play the Seminoles and they

(06:05):
don't play Miami, and you need a little help to
get to where you want to go, to fight back
and scratch and claw your way maybe into kind of
a backdoor ACC championship game. But there is a lot
in front of Clemson right now in terms of teams
and calculating what has to happen. The good news is

(06:28):
you play Louisville. The Cardinals picked up a loss this weekend.
Tony Elliott and the Virginia Cavaliers now three and oh
in the ACC, five and one overall, and they are
becoming quite a fly in the ointment for Clemson fans
who maybe are hoping for a fortuitous path to open
up to the ACC championship game. Duke, also three and

(06:49):
zero in the league. You've got Georgia teket two and
zero conference played Miami now one to oh smu is
want to oh, we do have a kick time for
that Clemson SMU game. I'll give you that information. It
just a little bit. But Louisville takes their first conference
loss and overall loss of the season, falling in overtime

(07:10):
to the Virginia Cavaliers, who have survived two overtimes this season,
and Tony Elliott and the Calves getting the job done.
The job done. But Florida State, I mentioned the Seminoles
losing to Miami. Of course last week. They're two weeks
ago they lost to Virginia or was that last week?

(07:31):
I can't remember it was. Did they have a bye
week or not? I have to look at the full
schedule here. September twenty sixth, Yeah, no, that was a
Friday night, That's what it was. So Florida State had
an extra day to get ready for Miami twenty eight
to twenty two, though the final score. But the Seminoles,

(07:57):
after a big opening season victory over Alabama are now
sitting at zero to two in acc play, second to
last in the conference, and I mean, I think just
for fans, that's kind of what you have to understand
about this sport right now. There's a lot of parody.

(08:20):
Building depth is as difficult as it's ever been. Notre Dame,
they're currently three and two. We also had Florida beat
Texas this weekend. The Longhorns one of the top teams
in the country in the minds I of most people

(08:41):
at the beginning of the season. They are now three
and two, So there's there's just a lot of parody,
and I hope we can cross over to the realm
of where you can lose a few games and still
feel okay about your team. I think we're having to
adjust to that a little bit because we lived so

(09:01):
long in an era where you had to be undefeated.
But either way, man, this weekend just a wild one
from a lot of different perspectives, but most notably Texas
losing that was huge, and obviously the other being Penn

(09:23):
State losing. Both of those are just shocking losses I
think for most people, and ultimately has dealt a blow
to the superiority that some people may have felt existed
for several schools this year. And when you look at

(09:45):
Penn State, Texas, and Clemson top five schools to open
the season, yeah, that's the opposite of a solid preseason
projection for those schools. You know, if they finished when

(10:05):
we do like the over unders, right like, if they
finished at ten and two or nine to three, you go, well,
you know, that's the way season, that's the way the
cookie crumbles. Sometimes these cookies have crumbled. And we're only
in the first weekend of October. So there you go.
That's what I had to say sort of about Clemson,

(10:27):
North Carolina, some of the things that we've seen in
the country in college football, and speaking of which, this
weekend we'll get the dial things back up, because quite frankly,
as disappointing as Clemson has been up until this point,
I might make the argument that if Texas were to

(10:50):
lose this weekend against Oklahoma and lose their third game
of the year, I gotta think that that's a bigger
disappointment than what's happened to Clemson. Now, there will be
an argument that some people will make and they will say, well, look,

(11:14):
Texas lost to Ohio State Texas lost to Florida, and
if they were to lose to Oklahoma this weekend in
the Red River Rivalry, then they would lose to a
top six Oklahoma team, whereas Clemson lost to LSU, to

(11:38):
Georgia Tech, and to Syracuse. But I might argue that, look,
LSU is still one of the top teams in the country,
Georgia Tech is certainly making some noise sitting there at
number thirteen, And yeah, Syracuse does not have the perception

(12:06):
of being a great team, but I could make an
argument that Syracuse with Steve Angeli healthy, would be quite
a test for the Florida Gators. And since Texas was
ranked number one out of the Gates this season and
Clempson was number four or number six, depending on which

(12:28):
pole you look at, I think you could argue if
Texas loses this weekend that they've actually been the bigger
disappointment this season out of Clemson and Texas. I think
their fans would admit that fact. Now, granted, I think

(12:52):
of all of the two teams schedule wise, prestige prestige wise,
where Clemson is by comparison to the teams they play, Yes,
they've underperformed more. But I think Texas fans would feel opposite,
and I think many of them would say, no, no, no,

(13:13):
we're the one We're the team Swanee that's really underperformed
this year. We've really let ourselves down this season, and
quite frankly, I don't think you'd be wrong. I mean,
it has been a disappointing stretch for the Texas Longhorns.

(13:35):
And I think the most surprising thing is as much
as Clemson is frustrated by Kay Klebnick's play, I mean
Arts Manning and his decision making and the struggles that
they have had offensively have been beyond bizarre. I mean,

(13:56):
it's eerily similar. Don't get me wrong. It's I don't
want to just it's dismiss Kay Clubnick, but you know,
Kay Clubnick's last name in Manning, and maybe everybody anointed
this kid simply because of his name, but the major
suitors in the country pursued him, and Dabosweeney has talked

(14:19):
about how good of a player he is. There's something
going on there though. There's something not quite right with
Arch Manning, and I think his shoulder and I may
have mentioned this yesterday. I know I talked with one
of my buddies about it. But you kind of see

(14:41):
the way he shot putting the ball a little bit.
It looks a little bit like, remember, well, how could
you forget Philip Rivers, quarterback at NC State. Philip Rivers
of what was that nine children, some kind of fame.
Like every time they'd bring him on the air, they'd

(15:02):
be like, you know, Philip Rivers is a father, he's
got five kids, and like every time they brought him
on the air or brought brought his name up, it
was like the kids multiplied like grimlins. Oh, yeah, you
know Philip Rivers folks seven children. Two weeks later, yeah,
Philip Rivers, nine kids. I was like, what are we doing?

(15:25):
What is happening with Philip Rivers and these children? Where
are these kids coming from? But Rivers had sort of
a unique throwing style and managed to have a really
solid NFL career. But I don't recall arch Manning really
looking like this throwing the ball until this season. I

(15:49):
think he's got something going on with his shoulder. And
I know he hasn't said that he was going to
stay necessarily in college or go pro, but I think
if you're the Texas long warns the good news is
what you've seen this year probably indicates to me, unless
he turns it on like Gangbusters in the final half

(16:12):
of the season, that you're gonna get another year. And
I think you will hope it's a good year. Maybe
you hope somebody comes and gets him. Maybe you don't
buy into him. I mean, if you read the comments
on social media as soon as Texas loses that game
this past week into Florida, I mean, fans are absolutely
ripping Manning for so many mistakes, and you know he

(16:35):
has to come out of the game because I think
his helmet got knocked off and the backup comes in
and has like a twenty six yard play and then
they go right back demanding and he can't do anything.
He's like panicking in the pocket. You know, if Kave
Klubnick had another year, I think he would return. And

(16:55):
after what Clemson fans have seen this year, I don't
know how many of them, even though he had a
big game this past weekend, I don't know how many
of you would say, yeah, let's bring Kade back. Like
I think people are ready to move on, and there
will be people in Austin, Texas. I can assure you
that are going to be ready to move on from

(17:15):
March Manning unless something changes for him over the next
few weeks of the season. Now that Cotton Bowl matchup
or Red River Rivalry matchup played at the Cotton Bowl
in Dallas, Texas, set for a three point thirty kickoff
on ABC. Texas is favored by one and a half. Now,
John Mattia, remember the quarterback for Oklahoma. We don't believe

(17:36):
he's gonna play. He had surgery earlier this season. ESPN
put up an article or a video asking the question
about whether or not you know Matteir could return, and
you would wonder if he did return, given the way
he's played versus Manning, would that swing the line in

(17:57):
Oklahoma's favor? And I think most people would agree. Yeah. Indeed,
that's how valuable John Materi is to this team right now.
Ninety five of one forty one, six touchdowns, three interceptions,
one thy two hundred and fifteen yards on the season.
Manning eighty one of one thirty five, eleven touchdowns and

(18:18):
five interceptions for one thy one hundred and fifty one
yards this year. So Texas slightly favored. The Longhorns are
three and two, and you've got to believe that in

(18:38):
that state right now, with Texas Tech doing what they're doing,
with Texas A and M being five and oh and
two and oh, the Aggies fans have to be thinking, well,
welcome to the SEC Texas second year in not so easy,
is it? And if they fall the three and three,
like I said, I I think you've got to label

(19:00):
them as the biggest disappointment or the team that fell
the most out of the gates this season. If they
follow three and three and oh and three, add to
that oh and three in the Southeastern Conference, they might
you might have to give them that banner. By the way,
speaking of Oklahoma quarterback John Matteer, I got a little

(19:23):
update here on whether or not he'll play potentially. I
know I mentioned a minute ago. ESPN did a little
back and forth. Well, doing some digging, I have come
upon an article talking about his status for Saturday. With
a quick break keep it a lot right here on
Fox Sports Radio fourteen hundred in the Midlands, and of

(19:45):
course you can hear the show The Shakespeare south Land
Clemson Sports Talk anywhere in the world on the iHeartRadio application.
All Right, a break we'll come back. I'll tell you
what they're saying about John Matteer when we return. Keep
it locked, Lawton Swan, Clemson's Sports Talks. So could John Mattier,
quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners, potentially play in this game?

(20:06):
What would that do to the line if he does?
According to sources, Mattiar is pushing for a return against Texas.
Now this is interesting because it's less than three weeks
after hand surgery that he had, and we thought when

(20:26):
that happened that there was a question about whether or
not Mattia would be ready for the South Carolina game,
let alone a matchup against Texas. And when you look
at that calendar right for this surgery, which from what

(20:48):
I understood at the time, I think it was supposed
to be somewhere between four and six weeks that you
might need to recover well, I thought he would be
out likely for the South Carolina game on October the eleventh,
next weekend. But it is beginning potentially to look like

(21:10):
and I would suggest that if he does indeed play
against Texas, as long as he's healthy the next week,
there's no reason he wouldn't play against South Carolina, which
is not great for the game Cocks, and we talked
at length yesterday about the difficulty in the schedule that
the game Cocks have forthcoming. But there is belief that

(21:32):
Matier may return less than three weeks after this surgery.
It's unclear when the decision will be made. Oklahoma coach
Brent Vinibles has said publicly that it is uncertain when
Mattei will return. It was a broken bone in his
right hand that took place two weeks ago. If Mattier

(21:58):
plays against Texas in the Red River Right, it would
certainly be an incredible return just seven days out of surgery.
Vinibles said earlier today that Mate is going through his
quote normal protocol, but emphasize that the quarterback has quote

(22:19):
done zero good on good work. Former Clemson defensive coordinator
Brent Vinibles went on to say, quote I don't know
anything about the injury. When they tell me he's available,
I'll let you know. My thing is, if you're Brent
Vinnibles in Oklahoma, I mean you definitely keep Texas on

(22:46):
a string with this right you don't. You never admit
that he's not gonna play. I mean you keep them
preparing for multiple players. I mean that's that's just the
gamesmanship of this situation. And to think about mateers rise right.
We talked earlier about the fall of guys like k

(23:09):
Klubnik and arch manning names, it would have been Ader
near the top of the conversation for the Heisman Trophy. Well,
with the way MATEII had played, he had actually made
himself one of the best players in the country, or
maybe the better way to put it is made himselves
one of the favorites for the Heisman Trophy. And if

(23:34):
Mateir comes back in he also adds a dynamic with
his ability to rush the ball. Having rushed this season
for one hundred and ninety yards and five touchdowns, he
remained second in the country in total offense per game,

(23:56):
behind only Arkansas's Taylor Green. And Matier has missed just
one game since announcing the injury, as Oklahoma had a
buy and then played against Kent State last week. So
the timing of his absence from the standpoint of Brent

(24:16):
mivinibles in Oklahoma has been very positive. And now the
opportunity to have Matiir come back and play in this
Red River rivalry you talk about a huge shot in
the arm and Texas is reeling a little bit. And

(24:44):
Oklahoma had a game earlier this season. You might recall
where Brent Vinnables died up a ten sack performance. Well
that got corrected, unfortunately to nine sacks. But you can imagine,
giving what Brent Vinibles is probably watched on film of

(25:06):
Arch Manning, that the Longhorns are gonna have to do
a spectacular job blocking because Oklahoma is going to be coming.
I mean, the Sooners are gonna be in Manning's grill.
I guarantee you, on every single snap, Brent Vinnibles will

(25:32):
be relentless because I think what he sees in Manning
is a kid who will make mistakes if you just
pressure him, if you just force him to make quick decisions,
if you just force him to be a little bit indecisive.

(25:57):
I mean, he's a kid that clear right now is
not in a good place. And I think that for
Texas that's the reason that they are so concerned because
not that Eli and Peyton never had missteps along the way.

(26:23):
I mean, every quarterback has missteps, but I think the
fact that his have been so pronounced and so early
this season that they're extremely concerned. And look at what
you know, we talk about if they lose this game,

(26:46):
falling to three and three, But what about the schedule
ahead for Texas to form a number one team after this?
I mean at Kentucky very winnable, at Miss Sippy State
very winnable. They host Vanderbilt, but then they go to
Georgia VERSUS Arkansas, and then to end the season against

(27:10):
their arch rivals in State, the Aggies. It is tough
sledding in the Southeastern Conference. We mentioned that yesterday. But
could the number one team in the country finish with
if they lose this game four five losses? It's crazy
but possible. Keep it a lot right here on Fox
Sports Radio fourteen hundred, Clemson Sports tal Lawton Swan on

(27:34):
a Tuesday afternoon, of course, you know what that means.
A talking Tuesday in Tigertown and Dabo Sweeney met with
the media to give his thoughts on the Boston College Eagles. Obviously,
this Boston College team riding a bit of the struggle
bus out of the gates this season, just one in four.

(27:59):
But Davos when he said, hey, that's that's a little
bit misleading given the season that the Eagles have had
thus far. And I'll walk you through their schedule real quick.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
You know.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Boston College opened the season with a sixty six to
ten victory over Ford them then they lost in double
overtime to Michigan State. They also got beat late at
Stanford thirty to twenty, and fell twenty eight to twenty
four against Cal. Now the only game where they really

(28:35):
got bullied around was this past weekend at pitt forty
eight to seven. But dabos Weny says, hey, that record
one in four, No, that's not indicative of how tough
and hard this Boston College team plays back on the.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Road again this week, so heading up to Boston, always
a tough place to play and always a tough team
to play, you know, and no different in this scenario
watching the team. The record is one and four and
this is far from a one to four football team
they have. They are you know, you say it, but

(29:19):
it's it's I mean, there are four plays away from
being four to one, without a doubt, very well coached,
and I know they are battling through some disappointment because
they've had some heartbreakers, uh Michigan State game and overtime
Stafford game. They got a big lead and got away
from them. On a couple of plays and then end

(29:39):
up losing that one. Then they got the cow game
one comes down to the last play, lose that one.
So they've had some real heartbreakers, you know, as as
so have we, and but they have competed their butts off,
and then this past week kind of got with that
a bunch of guys out. I mean, I don't know
if y'all saw their injury report of it, but they

(30:00):
had a ton of guys out, especially on defense. They
had at least ten guys out on defense and just
gotten a hole early and against Pitt. But I mean
it's a good team. I mean literally a few plays
from four and one.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
So that's Davos. When you talking a little bit about
Boston College. Here's what you had to say about the
Eagles on offense. Of course, their quarterback is the name
some of you may remember from the recruiting season or
the recruiting what you call it from recruiting, I guess
maybe the very way to put it, Dylan Loder Getting

(30:36):
who played over at Brookwood High School in Snowville, Georgia.
Here's Davos when you talked about the Eagles offense.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
And very impressed when you watch the tape. It's probably
the best ol we've played as far as how they
played together as a group. This is a really good
offensive line, big strong, well coached. Back's a really good player.
He's Downhill. He's actually from rock Hill. You know, he'd
be excited to play the Tigers. They use him a

(31:04):
lot in the passing game. I think they've got really
good receivers. Four. I think an NFL guy that's got
six y five, two hundred and seventeen pounds. He's a
big body kid. Eleven is going to be the all
time lead receiver in Boston. Uh, he's a really good player.
Seventeen is a guy that they get the ball a ton.
They got a couple other speed guys. I think one

(31:26):
one's been out for him. He's a good player. I
don't know if he'll be back or not. Multiple formations.
They do a good job as far as creating, you know,
formational challenge, as far as how you line up and
defending extra gaps, a ton of play action, a lot
of max protection to to get the shots down downfield,

(31:48):
and that's probably the biggest thing, you know, and watching
looking at him, I mean, they're eleventh in the nation
in passing. You know, so they're throwing the ball all
over the park, but it comes through the run game.
You know, they everything is a ton of play. It's
not like they're just dropping back and letting it rip there.
There's a ton of play action and uh, you know,
really good scheme. The quarterback, I think is a very

(32:10):
good player. He's a kid we recruited. He's from done
in Justnville, Georgia. He's he's signed with Alabama, but he's
a he's a very good player. Getting eleventh in the
country and passing. They schematically really stress you, you know,
with how they go about, you know, creating their shots
through the run, the play action, a bunch of screens

(32:32):
and you know, manipulation plays with throwbacks and things like
that built into it. Backs, free releasing a lot. I
think he's maybe third or so and receiving on the team,
so you've got to account for him. So I just
I'm just very impressed, you know, watching the tape. You
don't know anything about a record. You just watch the
tape and you're like, man, these guys are they play tough.
They're well coached. Quarterback. I think he's an elite thrower,

(32:55):
he's very accurate. They got skilled outside and got a
tough runner in the back.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
That's Dabosweeney talking about the Boston College Eagles offense. We'll
hear what Sweeny had to say about the Eagles on
defense as well in just a little bit. Plus he
got some questions about some of those players we've been
talking about all season, including TJ. Parker, Tristan Smith, and
the opportunities that he's been getting. So all that and

(33:21):
more coming up here on the program in just a
little bit. Hey, Tiger fans, let me remind you about
our friends at Alumni Hall. It's Alumni Hall right here
on the corner of campus on College Avenue in downtown Clemson.

(34:05):
quick break here bottom of the hour, coming up on
a Tuesday afternoon, don't forget tomorrow. We'll be joined on
the program by Chad Morris. Of course, Chad's son Chandler,
having an incredible, incredible season up at Virginia. Look at

(34:28):
what Tony Elliott is doing. Like I said yesterday, Tony
Elliott in Virginia, with the way they are playing, are
becoming a bit of the fly in the ointment for Clemson.
I mean, they could end up being the team that
blocks the Tigers out. Plus last night, and we'll talk

(34:48):
about this when we get back, Big trev the Giant
Killer and the Jacksonville Jaguars a game winning touchdown drive
and perhaps that's the most unbelievable touchdown run ever. I'll
tell you about it when we get back. Final segment
of our number one Clemson Sports talt log and swam

(35:09):
with you last night in the NFL. We'll here, we'll
do Dabos Winny talking about Boston College at the defense
in questions in our number two you know, I started
talking about Trevor Lawrence, Big trev the Giant Killer, actually
got a call today from our buddy, Jamal. I think

(35:32):
about Trevor. I think that's who the call came in from, Jamal.
I'll check it in a second before we get through
this entire segment. But Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars
right now sitting at four and one. After Lawrence engineers

(35:54):
a game winning drive against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville
now four and one, undefeated at home come from behind win,
Trevor Lawrence, on his twenty sixth birthday, leads the Jaguars
to a thirty one twenty eight victory over the Chiefs.

(36:18):
Of course, last week they beat the forty nine ers.
And the thing about this game.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
That was.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
So crazy was I felt like you saw the heart
and the competitive fire that led Trevor Lawrence to having
a twenty nine game winning streat collegiately a national championship
in nearly two. He had to play early in the game,
down seven to nothing. He went to dive over the

(36:49):
goal line on a little quick quarterback sneak kind of play,
and I actually envisioned it in my head before it happened.
I thought, man, I hope he doesn't stick the ball
out and get it punched out. Boom he did, and
Kansas City went right down the field and scored to
take a fourteen to nothing lead. You almost feel like
at that point the Jags are dead. But Trevor Leeds

(37:12):
a scoring drive pretty quickly and did a lot of
it with his legs, kind of like what you saw collegiately.
Then he heated up a little bit offensively in the
third quarter to tie the game at fourteen apiece with
a ten yard touchdown run. Then Kansas City's driving and

(37:33):
Devin Lloyd has a ninety nine yard interception return to
flip the script a little bit there, kind of payback
for Lawrence's fumble on the goal line, and now the
Jaguars have a twenty one to fourteen lead. Kudos to
the Chiefs. They come right back and score with twelve
to twenty left in the fourth quarter to make it
twenty one to twenty one. The Jaguars get a fifty

(37:56):
two yard Cam Little field goal with eight h eight
left take a twenty four to twenty one lead. Kansas
City answers with a twelve play eighty six yard drive,
eating up six twenty three off the game clock, and
scores what might be the game when he touched out
with one forty five left, twenty eight to twenty four.

(38:19):
Big treev comes out engineers a seven play sixty yard
drive thirty one to twenty eight the final score. But
the topic dujoure, in addition to his heart and effort
was the touchdown run. The one yard touchdown run that

(38:41):
Trevor Lawrence had to win this game for Jacksonville. They've
got the ball at the one yard line. There's thirty
seconds remaining, they have no timeouts. Trevor goes down under center.
There had been an offense excuse me, a defensive pass
interference call, so it's first and goal, still plenty of opportunity.
But as Trevor is coming out from under center, his

(39:06):
foot gets stepped on by his offensive lineman and he
goes down. He doesn't panic, well, I guess he kind
of did. He tries to get up as quickly as
he can. He stumbles again and falls down again, laying
on the ground in the backfield about six yards back
from where he started. And he pops up and looks

(39:28):
like he's tip toeing through the tulips, high stepping kind
of I can't even chopping I don't even know how
to describe it, and then diving for the end zone
to score the game winner. Here's what it sounded like
on ESPN's Monday Night Football Night.

Speaker 5 (39:41):
It's first and goal with thirty seconds left. Mount Horns
comes down, has to get up, takesy top off, tucks down,
ups away.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
I call it the greatest touchdown run I've ever seen.
It's not it's not they've been greater. The greatest game
winning touchdown ever. It was insane. It was a lot
to digest, and the more I watched at the bar,
I laughed. And good for Trevor on his birthday. I
mean to deliver a victory to that city, to go

(40:21):
to Forum one and to play the way he did
after that early turnover at the goal line. Man, it
just made you feel really good, and I think Clemson
fans embraced it. Lawrence was eighteen to twenty five, one touchdown,
one interception for two hundred and twenty one yards. He
also led the Jaguars with fifty four rushing yards on

(40:44):
ten carries with two touchdowns, and the Jaguars, who were
three and a half point underdogs at home, turn what
was a eighty four point five percent chance the Kansas
City wins that game. With one minute and nine seconds remaining,

(41:08):
they flipped the script just a fifteen and a half
percent chance that the Jaguars would win that game, and
Trevor Lawrence stumbled, bumbled, didn't fumble, however, his way to
the end zone to deliver the win. And if I
said Cade club to get any point in that segment
about Trevor, please forgive me for that. I don't know.

(41:32):
I guess because we talked so much about Kade. I
felt like a couple of times I might have done
it if I did. Sorry, sorry to put Cade's season
on Big trev and that come from behind stunning win
over the Kansas City Chiefs last night. Hey, coming up,

(41:53):

forget show The Shakespare south Land brought to you in
part by our good friends over at Mets Plumbing Mets
Plumber dot com two two six seven one o eight.
That's Mets Plumbing two to six seven one eight. Give

(43:27):
him a call today. Jackveltrie Gamecockcentral dot Com joins us
on a Tuesday afternoon. Jack. What's up, man, how's your
week been?

Speaker 6 (43:35):
It's been good, man, it's been good. I enjoyed the
bye week. Just hanging out and ready to get back
to work now and getting ready to gear up for
my first trip to Baton Rous this weekend.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Man. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season,
when you kind of eyeball at South Carolina schedule, that
the back end would actually begin to look even tougher
kind of giving the rankings of some of these teams
right now we talk about to stretches in this sport. Man,
what South Carolina is about to go through is a
car wash. Of top ranked teams. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (44:07):
Really, Oh man, it's it's gonna be crazy over the
next five weeks. Here you've got let's see, you got
LSU this weekend, you got Oklahoma the following week, get
at home, you get Alabama at home, you get Ole
Miss on the road, you get a bye week, and
then you go to College Station and take on A

(44:28):
and M. One thing all those teams have in common.
They're really they're really highly ranked. I think I think
they're all most of them our top ten.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
I think, yeah, LSU's the only one outside the top ten,
they're number eleven.

Speaker 6 (44:43):
It's a crazy schedule, man, It's it's something that you know,
looks every year. If it's like South Carolina always has
a tough schedule. And honestly, I thought at first glance
when I saw the schedule initially this year, I thought
it was definitely much more manageable compared to years passed.
But then you see how the season progresses and how

(45:03):
and stuff, and it's it's definitely a lot more challenging now.
But you know, Shane Beemer was asked about it earlier
today during his media availability, and he basically just said like, look,
this is what you have to expect being in the SEC.
And you know, the guys on the team like, if
you come to South Carolina, you have to, you know,
be ready for something like this because it's going to

(45:24):
inevitably happen. And you know, it's not just South Carolina
that has this difficult schedule. I know, you know, I
see people on Twitter, you know, analysts and stuff making
it out to be where, oh Man, South Carolina's got
this really, really really tough schedule, Like, yes, that's the case,
but the end of the day, every team in the
SEC has to play these same teams as well, so

(45:44):
it just so happens South Carolina's got to play all
of them in a row. So it's not ideal, but
end of the day, look at Carolina takes care of
business over the next few weeks. You know, we're talking
about a team that has a much better resume than
most in the country, and you know, assuming they don't
ford running losses the rest of the way, that's a
college football playoff team in my eyes, if they're able

(46:04):
to get through the gaulllet.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
Jack Veltrie with his Gamecockcentral dot Com, Yeah, I think
the thing about it too, right, Like you look at
I mean, schedules are what they are, and I mean
Missouri this weekend will play what their sixth home game
they've they've yet to go on the road as they
host Alabama, and you just go, you know what, Sometimes
the favor of scheduling goes your way and other times

(46:27):
you play five consecutive games against teams ranked inside the
top eleven, and those will change too, right, Like if
Texas beats Oklahoma this weekend, the Sooners will drop a
little bit. But man, eyeballing that thing just on the
screen right now, it is going to be a tough
slate for the game Cock. So where are they help wise? Obviously,
the bye week's always huge for teams. Nobody's at one

(46:50):
hundred percent at this point in the season. But what
is Shane Beamer seem to indicate jack for our Gamecock
listeners hanging out with us today, is the situation in
terms of injuries? Is there anything significant?

Speaker 6 (47:01):
Well, to tell you the truth, man, Shane doesn't really
talk about injuries. He didn't even mention it today at all,
just because there's the SEC injury report which comes out
on Wednesday. Starting this week, so I wish I had
a better answer for you, But we just don't know
what the injuries are looking like for this week. We'll
know more tomorrow obviously, when that injury report does come out,

(47:25):
I believe around eight ten pm tomorrow night, so we'll
see where the injuries are there.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Again. Jack Veltrie from Gamecockcentral dot com hanging out with us,
you're making the track down there. How significant is it
that this is a night game down in Baton Rouge.
We know what that environments like. Anytime those LSU fans
are well hydrated, it seems to call us quite a
stir there in Death Valley.

Speaker 6 (47:50):
Yeah, I think I saw the stat this morning that
LSU is thirteen to one in night games under Brian Kelly.
That's a pretty good stat for his tenure there with
the Tigers. And that one loss was notably to Alabama
last year, which was just an absolute massacre of a
game for the Tigers at home against the Tide. And

(48:11):
you know, obviously for South Carolina it's gonna be tricky
going into that environment and playing in front of those fans.
I can't personally speak to how loud it actually is
in person. I've only watched a handful of times on
TV and it just looks absolutely bonkers out there in
Death Valley, probably the craziest atmosphere in the sport of
college football. But again, South Carolina has played in their

(48:34):
share of loud environments in the past before. Yeah and yeah, yes, LSU,
Yes that night, we've heard all about it, but I
think they're gonna be ready for it this week. The
main thing I'm looking for this week is just to
see how the communication is because we know that Carolina's
had their share of communication issues so far this season,
whether it's the pre stat penalties, are just not hearing

(48:56):
the right call on the offensive line. They're working on
it this week. They're implementing the crowd and noise this
week in practice just to try and best simulate as
much as you can. But you can only do so
much because at the end of the day, one hundred
thousand fans and a lot of them are gonna be
drunk at that game. I'm sure having a good time.
I mean, there's nothing that can really prepare you for that.
So you do what you can in practice this week.

(49:19):
For the end of the day, you just gonna have
to deal with it and just try to make the
most of the situation when you get out there. I'm sorry.
The main thing is you have to play well at
the start of this game to kind of shut the
crowd down a little bit, and from there, as long
as you keep your film the gas, I think you're
in a pretty good spot.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Well, Jack, I know you'll be working obviously for game
Cock Central, part of the Only three network, but I'm
gonna give you a challenge. If you've never had Alligator,
see if you can swing some of the tailgate on
your way in, because I guarantee you you're gonna be
shocked when you come back next week and report how

(49:56):
good it actually is.

Speaker 6 (49:58):
I've actually had ali Ga once before. Okay, it was
years ago, back in I don't even know. I was
maybe in like middle school, but I had it in
Savannah one time on a family trip down there, and
I think it was like Frida Alligator so good. I
would love to have it again. So look, if the
LSU folks are out there and grilling up some alligat

(50:22):
frying it up, and I'm around, please I will definitely
take some.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
All Right. There you go, Jack Filtree with us here
for a few more minutes as we get you ready
for South Carolina and LSU coming up this weekend, A
big game for the game Cocks looking to continue to
move up now in the Southeastern Conference rankings after falling
in their first two conference games. From that standpoint, confidence

(50:47):
around this team. I know, you guys get to hear
from some of the players, what's their feeling right now
as they kind of get ready for this big time matchup.

Speaker 6 (50:56):
I think they feel good coming out of the bye week.
Shane was talking about today just how important it was
to have that bye week right after the Kentucky game,
a game where you feel good, you play good, you
build a lot of confidence in that game. Still got
things to correct, but it gives you time now to
get ready for this big you know, five games stretch
you have coming up with this LSU game. So the

(51:17):
key for them is kind of going back to how
tough it's been the schedule coming up. The key is
just for them to take it one game at a time,
And it's cliche, but it truly is what they have
to do. To be honest, I think you can't look
at oh man, we gotta play. Four of our next
five games are against top ten teams in the country.

(51:37):
You can't look at it that way, right, You gotta
look at like, Okay, like we got LSU this weekend.
Gotta go there. That's gonna be tough enough on its own.
Go there, play well, see what happens. It's not like
LSU has been playing out of their mind to where
they're just unbeatable.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
No, I agree, proof is in the pudding.

Speaker 6 (51:56):
Proof is in the pudding that they are beatable since
miss was able to take care of them two weekends
ago and before that. I mean LSU is kind of
played alright, I've played great. I think the offense has
work to do, and obviously having a fully healthy Garrett
Nasmyer would go a long way. But we'll see what
he looks like for this weekend. I would expect him

(52:16):
to be ready to go.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Though.

Speaker 6 (52:18):
The main thing that's different in this game I think
is just the defense and how much better LSU is defensively.
If South Carolina can find a way to move the
football in this game and score some points, I think
they got a good chance. But that's gonna be a
tall task against this defense that League Baker runs.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
Yeah. No, look, I agree with you one hundred percent
about who LSU is and I think the fact that
Clemson has underperformed drastically also kind of adds to how
great was that opening win really for the Bayou Bengals
on the road there in Clemson's Death Valley. All right,
final thing, Jack Veltrie again. Game cockcentral dot Com, that's
the website part of the on three network. When you

(52:57):
kind of think about like the season as a whole, right,
Obviously you and I talked heading into those games against
Vanderbilt and Missouri just that those were the games that
South Carolina really needed to win. H fan base wise,
where are people right now? With a win against Kentucky
and then certainly heading into this stretch. I mean, what's

(53:18):
been the tenor of the message boards overall game concentral
dot Com.

Speaker 6 (53:24):
It's it's definitely been a little bit uh mixed bag,
a little bit more yeah, a little bit more tame
than it was a few weeks ago. When you're losing
to Missouri and and you're losing to Vanderbilt. Look, has
it been much better?

Speaker 3 (53:38):
No?

Speaker 6 (53:38):
I mean, one win over Kentucky, a team that many
of you is the worst in the SEC, is not
going to change everything. You're gonna have to go out
there and do it this weekend. Like, if you don't
play that well this weekend, I hate to say, but
things are gonna return right back to where they were
before with fans and fans still want to see change
and stuff. There's still gonna be people complaining out there
about anything, but the end of the like, the boards

(54:00):
are gonna heat back up if things don't get better
or you know, come out of there with a win
this weekend. I mean, that's just what people expect, even
though LSU is going to be a really daunting task
of going into Baton Rusion winning. So end of the day,
Carolina just has to go in there play their best
brand of football.

Speaker 7 (54:18):
League.

Speaker 6 (54:18):
They played really well on defense last time out, I
guess Kentucky. Continue to do some more things on offense.
They look pretty balanced last week. Do a little bit
more on the rushing game, continue to bring land or
Sellers along, get him back to being that that complete
version of himself from last year. Saw flashes of that
last time out, And just hope for some some luck

(54:38):
on your side as well, just because I think you
kind of do need that going into what should be
their tompest environment of the season.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
Fan always short for fanatic, Jack Veltrie Gamecockcentral dot Com,
part of the All Three network. Those fans will turn
in a blink, won't they? All Right, Jack, have a
great week man, appreciate you. Everybody check out his work,
also follow them on Twitter. We'll talk to you real soon, Jack,
Thank you so much. So there you go, just a

(55:07):
couple of minutes from Jack Veltrie here as we talk
about the South Carolina game costs getting ready for one
of the toughest stretches in college football this season, no
doubt about it. At number eleven LSU home versus Oklahoma,
who's ranked sixth, home versus Alabama, who's ranked eighth and
playing as good as anybody right now at number four

(55:28):
Old Miss at number five A and M. Then Coastal
at home, and then hosting Clemson. I mean, when Clemson
becomes the Hey, that's the other easy win for us
on your schedule. And I'm not saying it's going to
be by the time we get to that game, right
but I would imagine game Cock fans looking at that

(55:49):
schedule right now locking their chops to get the Coastal
and Clemson. I mean, those games feel like the easier matchups.
But like I said, maybe that'll change. Maybe Clemson will
make a little run here, clean some things up, and

(56:10):
figure out how to make themselves be a bigger threat
to really everybody that remains on their schedule. And you know,
in fairness, as I said, out of the gates here,
I think it was the first segment Georgia Tech. I mean,
they're a thirteenth ranked team, LSU, they're an eleventh ranked team.

(56:34):
And even if you just had those two blemishes on
your schedule right now, if you were Clemson, you'd feel
a lot better about your season because you'd have only
one loss in the ACC. And that's where this whole
conundrum really begins for the Tigers in terms of what's
happening around them in the league, And how do you

(56:54):
even manage, even if you win out to get it
to the ACC championship game, because that's the only path
to the playoff given where the Tigers are right now.
And I can't remember what team I heard somebody else
talking about today, And like I told you, I don't

(57:17):
listen to a ton of sports tar radio, but I
happen to be on Serious XM this morning. I think
it was, and I can't remember who the guys were
talking about. But they brought up a team and they're like, yeah,
they're out of the playoffs, and I thought, I don't
know about that. They only have one loss in their conference,
like you can have multiple losses outside of your conference.

(57:41):
And like we said this a while back, it doesn't matter.
Clemson could lose to LSU, Troy, Furman, South Carolina, you
could lose all four of those games. But with the
way this thing is set up, as long as you
win your league, and for that matter, you could probably
lose a game still it in your league, you could

(58:01):
beat seven and five, go to your conference championship, win that,
and you're in the playoffs. So that's when you think
about Clemson and that lost to Syracuse. And I think

(58:23):
the thing that took it up a notch even further
was how you looked against Syracuse. The landmarks on that
game and the issues that you had Clemson Tigers in

(58:43):
that game will last throughout the rest of the season.
I mean that loss. It is not inexcusable to lose
to any team. And I mean that great teams get beat.
Michigan got beat, Michigan got beat by app State, everybody

(59:14):
gets beat. The biggest of the big get beat. They
can get beat in the David versus Goliath. I mean,
it happens. That being said, what should not happen is
getting bullied the way Clympson did by Syracuse and watching

(59:35):
the Tigers play the way they played this past weekend
against North Carolina was frustrating to me because I felt
like I watched a lifeless group maneuver their way through
the Syracuse game, and I think looking even further back,

(01:00:01):
they were somewhat lifeless at Georgia Tech, you know, and
before that Georgia Tech game, I tried to watch the
body language, the body language of the coaches, the body
language of the players, and it didn't. Nothing looked amiss
to me. It really didn't. And so then to go

(01:00:25):
out and lose both of those games, but more specifically
the Syracuse game, That's the thing that was and will
continue to be a bitter pill to swallow, because at
three and two right now, with one loss in the ACC,
you're in a much different place. You were in a

(01:00:46):
barely positive place now Tony Elliott and Virginia could still
be the fly in the ointment even in that scenario,
because you don't play Virginia. But chaos so far has
helped the Tigers a little bit in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

(01:01:10):
But I think you're rooting for other chaos. I think
you want chaos everywhere but Clemson, and if that happens,
you could backdoor your way in. You just gotta win
out and get the six and two. That's all you
can do. Went out in conference and get the six
and two in the league. You do that, let the

(01:01:32):
chips fall where they may. And So if you're saying, Swanny,
are you projecting Clemson right now to get to the
a SEC Championship? Not what I'm projecting. I'm simply saying
that in order to have that conversation exists in mid

(01:01:55):
to late November, you just have to win out and
be at six and two and hope positive things happen
that go in your favor. That's all you can control
one game at the time. Just keep keep trucking along.
And it begins this weekend at seven thirty at Boston
College quick Break, We'll come out, We'll hear more from

(01:02:16):
Dabos Sweeney. He talks about the VC defense. After this,
Lawton swam back with you on a Tuesday afternoon clymses
Sports talk. All right, we heard from Dablos Sweeney talking
about the Boston College offense. Here's coach Sweeney giving you
his thoughts on what they'll see from the Boston College
defense this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
So, I think it's a big challenge for us. And
then on the other side, same thing. Big strong, you know,
physical guys up front. You know, typical big, physical linebackers
that you always think about at BC, and just a
bunch of tight coverage. You know, you gotta, you gotta,
you gotta make plays against these guys. I think they're

(01:02:54):
well coached. They do a good job with their with
their press technique, they do a good job getting hands
on guys us. Uh, you can tell they know and
believe in their scheme.

Speaker 6 (01:03:03):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Got a couple of big hitters. You better know where
Zero is. Uh, he's a He's a guy that shows
up on tape every single week, plays really hard for him.
So physical group, tough group, a lot of pressure, a
ton of pressure with this team, a lot of movement
and uh, so you know it's a it's a tough
matchup for us.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
That's Dabbos. When you give us some insight into his
thoughts on Boston College Sweeny also gave an update on
offensive lineman Elijah Turman, who was out this past week,
and uh Sweeney said that he's kind of day to
day right now. He was also asked about the excitement
in Clemson's locker room after their win on the road

(01:03:45):
at North Carolina.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Yeah, I mean it was a great locker room. I mean,
we we have had some some heartbreaks and just honestly
haven't played well. I mean, that's just another way to
say it. And so I think again, we won the
try game, but we didn't play well. And uh so
it it was good. It was good for them to

(01:04:07):
win the game, for sure, but but to play well
and to really see and feel what that looks like
when they really put it all together as a group,
complimentary wise, So no question. I mean they played with
great execution on both sides of the ball. And you know,
it's fun to watch the tape, you know, and you

(01:04:28):
just see it, you know, and it's just it's just
it's it's fundamentals. It's precision in what you're doing. It's
making the critical play, it's making the routine play.

Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
So yeah, that part was really good, and you know,
so now now We've got to create consistency in performance,
you know, so that that comes through practice and just
and it's confidence. Uh so, yeah, hopefully they're coming out
of it with some confidence. They got to they can
they can be reminded of, now, this is who you are,
you know. I mean again, when you have a tough

(01:05:00):
start like we have at a place like Clemson, I mean,
there's a lot of noise, there's a lot of criticism
and things like that, and these are young people and
and you know, can affect you can affect your confidence.
So for them to be able to have a game
like that and hopefully be reminded like, this is who
you are and you know now, you guys got to
build on it again, just the same things that that

(01:05:24):
won that game or the same things that can win
the next game.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Debo swingey there since just saying hey, look, one brig
doesn't make a house. You got to keep working, You
gotta keep grinding, You got to keep trying to stack
those positive games on top of one another. Sweeny was
also asked about what he does specifically to instill competence
in his players.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
All the above. I mean, it's certainly you know, your
meetings and your encouragement and watching a ton of film.
But and then it's just going and doing it and
getting the results.

Speaker 7 (01:06:01):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
I think that's a big part of it coming off
a game like that, because again, sometimes you you've got
some guys that are really playing well, but they're not
getting the results, you know, so you kind of if
those guys continue doing what they're doing, and then other
guys that haven't played as well, like how do we
get them going and how do we encourage them? How
do we you know, you know, whether it's watching more

(01:06:25):
you know, some tape differently or whatever it is. But
the guys responded well, and again just you know, the energy,
the complimentary aspect of it and something they can gain
some confidence from. But it's just one game and got
to got to try to build.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Davos Sweeny was also asked about Kay Club Nick and
whether he saw quote Batman in Kay against North Carolina,
a comment Davosweeny a sort of made I guess during
his coaches show last night. We actually put an article
up about it over on Clemson sports dot Com. Here's
Bosweeney talking about whether or not he did see Batman

(01:07:03):
in K Club.

Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
Nick Man Uh yeah, I told Kid. I was like,
you know, like sometimes I get I think these guys
when you get in a situation, just you forget who
you are because everybody's telling you what you're not, and
sometimes you you can lose your confidence a little bit
or whatever, or try to do too much. And you know,
that was kind of what I told him. I'm like, listen, man,

(01:07:25):
I mean like you're Batman, like you know, but you're
you're But my message was more you're K club Nick,
like just be kid, and uh so he was awesome.
That was obviously a tremendous performance by him, and so
hopefully that can you know, get him back on track
and just playing with the type of confidence that we

(01:07:45):
need him to play with because he's he's a really
good player and you just just good to see him,
you know, playing free.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
And hopefully that will carry over. Right Like K Club
Nick has struggled this year, no doubt. We put up
the graphic and this is how I know people have
soured on him a lot. Like I said earlier, I
think if he had another year, unless he just burns
it up over the back end of the season, most
people would like to move on from Kid. But he

(01:08:16):
was twenty two to twenty four two hundred and fifty
four yards with four touchdowns in that ball game, and
responses on social media were like, you know who cares
wasted effort? I mean, people are crushing him and those aren't.
Weren't necessarily verbatim, but a lot of people are ready

(01:08:37):
to see Clemson with a different quarterback. And has Kade
lived up to the hype and billing? Probably not, No,
I don't think so. Has he been better than DJ
will Unglowle I think unequivocally yes, although both we're disappointing

(01:09:02):
now moving forward this season, obviously, I think the best
case scenario for Tiger fans is that you get more
games like this from Ki Clubney. Because Christopher of Vezina
did not look the part, so to speak, I was
not impressed with Vizina. Small sample size this past weekend,

(01:09:25):
but I was not impressed, and that is not a
good North Carolina team. I think a big part of
Caid's stats was the fact that he was playing North Carolina,
but you know what, so was Christopher of Vezina. And
maybe Vezina had some backups in a little bit here
and there, but still Vizena did not look comfortable. So

(01:09:46):
I know last week I talked about whether or not
Vezina could go. Well, you gotta show more when you're
in there, Chris. We'll come back in here a little
bit more from Sweeney. Right after this Clemson's Sports Talk
on a Tuesday A three four five zero zero eighty six.
So Dabo Sweeney in a talking Tuesday up in Tigertown,
Dabo Sweeney, select players. We'll have coverage of all that

(01:10:08):
on our website. We'll have coverage of that as well
for you on all of our social media channels. I
hope that you will continue to support our social media
channels and our website. Look, you can subscribe for sixty
three dollars and seventeen cents. That's right, Game cod fans

(01:10:30):
I said at sixty three seventeen, so you.

Speaker 7 (01:10:32):
Could continue to peek over the fence at the best
radio showing the naked.

Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
The late great Cleveland Man. They are dropping that dime
many moons ago. On Game Cognation today we heard from
Mike Reid, Christian Bettencore, Stephilin Green, Adam Randall, Dabbo Sweeney.
So it was a busy day up in Tigertown for sure,
as Clemson gets ready for their matchup against the Boston

(01:10:59):
College Goals. Sweeney was asked about the fact that defensive
back roon and Hannafin will get a chance to play
in his home state in this matchup against Boston College.

Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Oh, he's just super excited. I mean, Ronan's a guy
that's pumped player every week, He's pumped practice. You know,
He's just one of them guys that that loves it.
I mean, he's a he's a he's a gym rat,
as people say. I mean, he loves practice, he loves training,
he loves everything that comes with it. He loves film study.
There's no part of football that Ronan doesn't love. So,

(01:11:32):
you know, and then telling in fact, yeah, we're going
to Boston. That's just kind of a unique thing for him.
He'll be a captain force, uh in this game. So
excited for him. You know, he's got a brother Boston,
He's got a brother at West Virginia. You know he's here.
He's comes from an athletic family. His dad was a
good player. You know, I'm sure there'll be probably one

(01:11:54):
hundred Hannafin's or are somehow related up there. I'm sure.
But you know, it's awesome for exciting to be able
to we have we have played. I guess I went
up there in twenty two maybe twenty two, so I
hadn't been up there in a while. It's a good
opportunity for him.

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
About one hundred hannifins. I don't know why. I don't
know why. That comic cracked me up. There will be
about one hundred hannifinsh. Swoody was also asked about what
he saw from defensive line with TJ. Parker during his
performance against North Carolina.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Yeah, I mean he's player of the game for US.
I mean he's just he was disruptive. He's flying around.
I mean he's making some extra effort plays, uh, you know,
defeating blocks, you know, just just creating pressure, reading reading
things properly. You know, he created TfL just took the
tighty end right into the guy. I mean he just

(01:12:52):
just really played really loose and just flying around, having
some fun out there, and uh, it was good to
see debo.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Sweeney talked about t J. Parker and his performance against
North Carolina. Swinny was also asked about Adam Randall and
his production and the job that he's done that running.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Back of the backfield. Yeah, I mean, I actually I
think it's four one hundred plus all purpose games in
a row for him. So dynamic, that's what we thought
he'd be. I'd say he's probably been maybe even better
than what we hope for as far as making a transition.
I'm really proud of him. I mean, he's he's just
he's been good every game. I mean, he's had a

(01:13:33):
couple of plays here or there, but he's he's he's
given us a chance every single game. I know, he's Uh,
I mean, he's just played with a ton of passion,
a ton of toughness, a ton of heart, and he's dynamic.
I mean he's making plays in all all areas and
receiving returning Russian He's made some makes. He's given us

(01:13:55):
an opportunity to to win. And uh, really proud of him.
I mean it's it's nobody deserves it more.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
And so I want to go with that because I
remember some of the struggles that we saw earlier in
the season, and one of my big complaints, and you'll
remember this, was that I didn't think Clemson was being

(01:14:22):
as versatile or utilizing Adam Randall the way they could be.
And this past week in North Carolina, if you felt
the way I did watching Adam Randall catching some check
downs out of the backfield, a little wheel route, like
I'm looking at that, going, hey, this is this is

(01:14:46):
what I thought this offense could look like with this guy.
And yes, a part of it is North Carolina. They're
not a very good football team, okay, but when you
watch the way Clemson, the plays that Clemson was making,

(01:15:08):
or maybe better yet, the reads that Kay Clubnitt was making,
like all of a sudden, it was like Kay could
read the book again and hopefully that one game of
gaining confidence for Kay Clubnick will carry over and perhaps

(01:15:31):
over the long haul will help this Clemson Tiger team,
you know, in more ways than one. But man, Adam
Randall just so fun, so fun to watch. Right now,
here's Dabos when he talked about Tristan Smith, another fun
player to watch, the transfer wide receiver and what he's

(01:15:56):
done so far this season in the opportunities limited opportunities
that he's gotten.

Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Back to back good games for us. Uh, it's two
good games in a row that he's He's shown up,
made some plays and I think early on just you know,
first couple of games just you know, really being able
to trust him. And so he's he's been practicing really well.
So he's just earning more trust. And you know, he
is a matchup, you know problem. He's got unbelievable length.

(01:16:23):
Uh and he's and he's really you know, a skilled
guy finishing on the ball and he's you know, you
wouldn't think it, but he's a really good after the
catch guy. You know. Similar for you guys who have
been around here somewhere to remember Aaron Kelly, you know,
similar to that. Aaron was a you know, six' five
guy and you, know but he But, aaron what made

(01:16:45):
him unique was hit he, could he could run with
the ball after the. Catch and this kid's similar to.
That he's hard to bring. Down h he's kind of
slinky and Uh so probably a couple of good. Games
we need him to keep coming to be a big
challenge this. Week getting it's a lot of man to,
man a lot of competitive, plays so we'll have to
we'll have to win some. Matchups so there you.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):

Charlottesville And Tony. ELLIOTT i saw this About Tony elliott
and the job that he's done At. Virginia And i've
Done tony a long time and he is a different,
guy a unique, guy and somebody that you would want
your kid to play. For but listen to this about

(01:19:31):
how he changed the momentum At. Virginia we can't win
if we don't flush the toilet every.

Speaker 8 (01:19:37):
Day on my way out to, Practice i'd be the
last one out the building by, design and Then i'd
walk through the restroom area in the locker, room And
i'd count the number of urinose where the toilets weren't,
flushed AND i would tell the, guys we can't win
if we don't flush the, toilets and then looking at,
me like why does that even? MATTER i, Said, well
if you don't have enough respect to flush the toilet
for your, teammate how are you going to die from
on fourth and?

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
One you're?

Speaker 8 (01:19:56):
Not those little things lead to bay think and as
we started to learn, that when you started to see
the connection grow even, STRONGER.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
I, mean how great is?

Speaker 7 (01:20:04):
That?

Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
Right, like if you're not willing to flush the toilets
for the guy you, know your, teammate how are you
going to be willing to play as hard as you
can for them on fourth? Down right? Now the other
cool thing to happen this, WEEKEND I i mentioned the

(01:20:29):
fact That Rick neuheisel's son had coordinated LSU's excuse, me
ucla shocking victory Over Penn state this past, Weekend but
watching the father get emotional about it with something, Else
and here's Here's Rick neuheisel talking about his Son jerry

(01:20:55):
getting the opportunity to COORDINATE ucla and to be so
successful at. It And, RICK i want to man as a,
father to watch your son do that in that. MOMENT
i can only imagine what you're.

Speaker 4 (01:21:06):

if it's football up, there singing in the, choir what have.

watch them have that kind of. Success who makes it?
All and my wife is at the game. Today she

(01:21:39):

Speaker 6 (01:21:42):
Fun.

Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
Man you could hear the emotion In Rick newheisel's voice
in those. Comments and you know the other thing that
was so bizarre about, It jerry Knew heiseel in his.
VOICE i, mean did y'all hear how he? SOUNDED i

(01:22:05):
mean he sounds just like his. Father listen to this, genetics,
Dude genetics will blow your. Mind you've been in some great.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Moments is a lifelong. Bruin where is this one? Ring
it's up.

Speaker 9 (01:22:18):
There the first THING i want to say IS i
LOVE ucla more than. Anything and the kind of kids
that you see that played on that field to day
is exactly why you love a place like. This we
had two days to practice the new game plan and
all they did was, believe and we came out and

(01:22:39):
played as hard as we could for sixty four. Minutes
had to take a safety at the end because we
messed it up a little. Bit but, like how can
you not love college football when you have days like?

Speaker 4 (01:22:48):
This?

Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
Special? Special?

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Special he sounds just like his. Father so. Cool AND
i don't know a lot About Jerry. NEUHEISEL i don't
know how old you need to be to be the head,
coach BUT i mean he looked fantastic and seems to

(01:23:18):
me to kind of look the part at thirty three as.
Well and who, knows it could be one of those
things where he just gets it right once and from
now on they. Stink but, man that was so awesome
the way they played the way he called that game

(01:23:38):
really really cool to See Jerry, neuheisel son Of Rick,
neuheisel offensive coordinator now FOR ucla getting it done this.
Weekend what a cool. Story so we'll, see we'll see what.

(01:23:59):
HAPPENS i know, THIS i, MEAN i don't know the
the other you, know interim head coach or the interim head,
COACH i should, say but New heisl's. OFFENSE i think
his blonde locks kind of flowing the bravado Of Los.
Angeles he kind of. Fits he kind of. Fits all,

Tomorrow apologize to texters and callers Like, jamal we didn't
