Finally, Clemson Sports Talk has come back to drive time.

It is the show that shakes the south Land. Clemson

make your way around the great state of South Carolina
and beyond, listening to us on incredible radio stations like

(01:05):
Fox Sports Radio fourteen hundred the Midlands, around the world
on the iHeart Radio application. Download it today, It's free.
The website, put the dot com on it, Dog on it.
That's clympsessportstaw dot com. And of course, the show The
Shakes of south Land brought to you in part by
our good friends over at METS Plumbing. Seven three two drip, Drip,

(01:28):
Drip drip. You know the jingle seven three to two drip.
That's Mets Plumbing, mets Plumbing dot com. That's the website,
all right. We know the start time of the twenty
twenty five season for several games, including the matchup between

(01:50):
your Clympson Tigers and the LSU Tigers in Death Valley
to open it up this year. That game will be
under the lights, yes, indeed. Look, I don't know if
College Game Day will end up at Texas and Ohio State.

(02:14):
I have no idea. I don't know if they'll end
up down at Florida State for a matchup between the
Seminoles and the Alabama Crimson Tide. But after the news
came out yesterday that it is expected an Ohio State
and Texas the big noon kickoff, that that game will

(02:38):
be played early in the day, the news began to
trickle out that Clemson and LSU will be played under
the lights, according to reports, So we're still kind of
waiting on the official confirmation on that front, but this

(02:59):
would make for the heck of a night game. The
news coming out, according to Brett McMurphy revealing that Clemson
and LSU will kick off at seven thirty on ABC
August thirtieth. They've got Alabama at Florida State slated for
a three thirty start on ABC, and as I mentioned

(03:24):
that Texas Ohio State game scheduled to be a noon
kickoff in Columbus. Now, couple of things on this front.
It does feel a little bit like Clemson and LSU
might just garner might just garner a visit from college

(03:50):
game day for a multitude of reasons. Hear me out
on this first off, it's a huge game, two of
the top quarterbacks in the country, more proven quarterbacks than
you're gonna find in those other two matchups with Texas

(04:11):
and Ohio State and Alabama and Florida State. Additionally, with
the big new kickoff going to Columbus, ESPN has a
chance out of the gates to counter that road show
where it will get preferential treatment in the backyard of

(04:34):
the Big Ten and come hard and strong with the
production in Tigertown. That will in turn allow Kirk herb
Street to be Johnny on the Spot for that ABC
broadcast not have to travel out of the gates in
a very busy week for Herbie number two. It would

(04:58):
allow because that that game will essentially be the nightcap
in the world of major college football. It will allow
for a post game day situation much like they did
in two thousand and six where after the game, I

(05:21):
believe it was Dabo Sweeney and CJ. Spiller and James
Davis maybe made their way to the podium. Perhaps what
you could do is keep Lee Corso around, let him
watch the game and then afterwards do a sendoff. And
if you set that thing up in Death Valley, just
hear me out. If you set it up in Death Valley,

(05:43):
at least for the post game, you could have fans
stay in the arena for a huge sendoff, assuming obviously
if Clemson wins. If Clemson loses, fans won't want to
stick around and salute Lee Corso. But to me, the
setting now, the start time projected at seven thirty according

(06:03):
to Brett McMurphy, I think it makes a lot of
sense for Clemson to be in the opening week of
the college football season hosting College Game Day, and better yet,
for travel purposes and for the opportunity now to maybe

(06:25):
let Lee Corso shine, because look, if you go to
Ohio State and that's the noon kickoff on Fox. Once
College Game Day is done at noon, that's it for Corso.
There is no hoorah after the fact. I mean, he's
on a flight back to his house and probably in
his home by three point thirty. I say, you let

(06:47):
coach sleep in a little bit, you bring him out there,
you bring him out there for game day, you let
him go rest up, he comes out, watches the game.
Clemson then LSU and then you bring Herbstreet down out
of the box, or maybe for that right, you take Herbstreet,

(07:10):
you take course so up to the box, and you
give him a chance to sort of send himself out
into the sunset if you will, under the lights at
Death Valley, and boy, can you imagine, you know when
you think back about these early season ABC games at Clemson,

(07:35):
just the fixtures of Clemson's Grand Dios entrance driving around
Death Valley, whether it's before a Georgia game or a
Notre Dame game. I mean, when you've when Clemson has
been spotlighted on the national stage, Dabo Swinging Company have

(07:58):
paid it off, and this would certainly be one of
those crescendo type moments if indeed you were to get
a chance to host College Game Day and face LSU
in a battle of Death Valleys in Tigertown. The storylines
seemingly right themselves in that regard, and I think that

(08:22):
a lot of people Clemson fans certainly are going to
be juiced to the max when this, you know, if
this comes to fruition as expected according to Brett McMurphy,
Now for our fine feathered friends all the South Carolina
faithful hanging out with us and peeking over the fence

(08:43):
and being part of the program. Here on a Tuesday afternoon,
you too can get your update on the Game Cocks.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
So you could continue to peek over the fence at
the best radio showing the nation.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Because McMurphy says on the following day, Sunday, Agust thirty, first,
South Carolina and Virginia Tech are expected to be a
three pm kickoff over in Atlanta, So the Game Cocks
are playing in that same matchup to a degree that
Clemson played in last year. Obviously, Clemson's game was not

(09:16):
on a Sunday. I do find the Sunday kickoff a
little bit strange, but we get those this time of
the year, during the beginning of the season, right before
Memorial Day, you get those Sunday kicks, and it'll be
the game Cocks in the Hokies facing off at three
pm on ESPN. Again, that's according to Brett McMurphy. He

(09:41):
expects Syracuse and Tennessee in Atlanta at noon on Saturday,
Alabama at Florida State three point thirty on ABC, and
then Clemson and LSU at seven thirty on ABC and
that other big matchup that weekend. I mean, because there
were only three really big matchups, Ohio State and Texas.

(10:04):
That news coming out yesterday evening that that week one
contest is scheduled on Fox, and I'm looking here, I
thought that was the big noon kickoff game, but it's
not determined asay. It could be an eight o'clock Fox
start for Texas and Ohio State. So I think I

(10:27):
said the noon kickoff just looking back at that graphic
and did not say noon. So we'll see when that
game kicks. I would expect Fox will put that thing
at eight o'clock, try to one up ESPN and ABC
where you're expected to have Clemson in LSU at seven thirty.

(10:48):
I could be wrong, Yeah, that would be a tough
that's a tough game to put it in noon the
opening week of the season. I stand corrected, and I
feel bad because radio rotation and turnovers about eight to
twelve minutes at we're at eleven, which means there's a
portion of you that have already gone away that said, oh, well,

(11:09):
that game's at noon, and I cannot confirm that looking
back at that graphic. But the Clemson LSU game is
projected currently that game is projected to be kicked off
at seven point thirty on ABC. And what a night,
what a game, what an atmosphere, what a matchup it

(11:31):
should be. I know a lot of fans out there
certainly have been licking their chops for this game as
a regular season game for a long time. I mean,
it's it's one that's been on the list. I mean
for years. Doing this show, we've talked about at times

(11:53):
like what games and what matchups, what home and homes
would you like to see? Clemson and LSU has always
been one of those that receives a level of top billing,
if you will. I think a lot of people always
circle around, for whatever reason, Florida and Clemson as a matchup.

(12:17):
But LSU and Clemson, with the two death valleys, with
the two Tiger mascots, with the history between the two,
the similarities and the helmets, what a great matchup. And honestly,
you know, if in this run of success that Daboswingy

(12:39):
and Clemson have had, it's hard, I think to look
back with really any regret because you've been so good.
But one of the things that I do regret, of
all of the things that have happened to Clemson over

(13:01):
the years. Is that lost to LSU in that twenty
nineteen season, the twenty twenty National Championship game, just prior
to COVID not winning that one, in winning thirty games
in a row and back to back national championships, Like,

(13:22):
there's a lot of stuff that you could look at
and go, yeah, I wish that game had gone another way.
Maybe we're in the playoffs. Maybe you know, maybe Clemson
beats Alabama in two thousand and fourteen and then or
excuse me, twenty fifteen and then beats the beginning twenty sixteen. Like, yes,
I understand, But that team that lost LSU in the

(13:46):
National Championship in New Orleans, which felt like a home game,
that would have been back to back undefeated seasons. That
would have solidified that group and probably Trevor Lawrence as
one of the greatest quarterbacks, not in the college football
playoff era, but in the history of college football, regardless

(14:08):
of what happened his junior season that twenty twenty COVID
shorten year. Where comes he did make the playoffs? But
that's that's one I know. Davos Winny doesn't like me
to look in the rear view mirror. I know you
got to have a windshield mentality. But LSU National Championship game,

(14:37):
and ah, I've watched it a couple of times. There's
a few plays here and there that if they just
go the other way. Nolan Turner, Nolan Turner, I think
Nolan Turner had to pick six. That's a that's a

(14:58):
hard one. I can get over losing Alabama in twenty fifteen.
I can get over losing Alabama in twenty seventeen. Heck,
I can get over not being in the playoffs a
few years. I have a very difficult time letting go
of that loss to LSU.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I guess we both learned a little something about each
other today, didn't we.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Yeah, that's the one. And now I can't even look
at the jerseys that they wore that night against Clemson.
You know, the white tops, yellow breeches, yellow helmet. Like.
I can't look at that outfit and not get a
little bit nauseous. This is extreme to get a little

(15:43):
bit nauseous at their brand because I recognize what was
ripped out of Clemson's hands that night in New Orleans,
and they played great. Don't get me wrong, It's not
like I feel like LSU got one over on the tie.
They played really good, but Clemson was really in that game,

(16:05):
much more so than the final score indicates. And furthermore,
that was a home game. It was as much of
a home game as I've ever seen any college football
playoff matchup B and that includes the home games that
we saw this past season. Playing that Texas this past

(16:25):
season was similar in terms of the fandom and how
many fans were on your rear end. In New Orleans,
I tell this story quite a bit. We were in
the seeding at I guess it was called the Mercedes Superdome.

(16:45):
Then I can't remember if that was exactly. I mean
sometimes that thing changes names. But we were at the
Superdome in New Orleans, and I just remember LSU scored
at one point, I think Clemson went up seventeen to seven,
and I remember feeling like, oh boy, here we go.
This is just what the doctor ordered. And you know,

(17:06):
LSU scores or whatever, and the ushers in the aisle
start dancing and celebrating and having a good time, and
I thought, well, this is this is a little bit
of home cooking. Here, this a little bit of home
cooking on the buyou, that's for sure. But again, if
this thing does indeed end up being played at seven

(17:28):
point thirty, and if indeed Clemson does end up coming
out with an electric victory, I would venture to say
that you would have to begin to put it on
par with some of the great home game victories and
matchups that Clemson's played, especially under Daboswiney. Maybe ever, given

(17:53):
the limited window of night games that you played, you know,
prior to the late eighties. But then even more so
that Death Valley versus Death Valley conversation that we've all
heard for so many years, and with the knowledge that
you get a chance to defend your Death Valley, Like

(18:17):
if Notre Dame comes in and beat you in Death Valley,
yeah it stinks. If Florida State comes in and beat
you in death Vout in Death Valley, yeah it stinks.
But if LSU, who also utilizes the name Death Valley,
comes into Death Valley and wins, it seems like a

(18:39):
pretty big deal. It would be ideal for Clemson to
beat LSU in Clemson and then go to LSU and win,
and then, as I guess it was, Will Vanderwort said
last week, go ahead and throw up Clemson welcomes you

(19:01):
to I think will said, the original death Valley. I'll
save you a few letters, Willie be. How about just
Clemson welcomes you to the death Valley at that point?
How about that the death Valley? There you go? All right?

(19:22):
Eight three four five zero zero eighty six text line
phone line with a quick break when we come back.
Some news out of the NBA and NBC that should
excite all of the ten year olds that reside inside
the hearts of all you middle aged basketball guys from

(19:44):
the nineteen eighties and nineties, because NBC and Peacock are
adding a legend to their coverage. And I really hope
it works out because I think it could be spectacular
television if it does. Stay with us rocking and rolling
along with you on a Tuesday afternoon to show the

(20:04):
shakespare South Lane Clemson Sports. All right, So cool story
came out yesterday. The didn't have a chance talking to
Clemson Softball and all that to get to it. For
my generation, there's you know, the greatest of all time
was certainly Michael Jordan. And unlike a lot of individuals

(20:25):
my age who grew up during the Air Jordan era
of the NBA, I've kind of recognized the longevity of
Lebron James at some of the unprecedented levels of success. Now, look,
six championships is Jordan's biggest asset, going six to zero
in the NBA Championship game, for sure, But that can't

(20:46):
just be the only measure. And there have been greater
players in the NBA if you measured it by championships.
Look at what Bill Russell and the Celtics did. Now
you'll talk about Eras, and I get it now, I'm
talking about Eras too. Jordan changed the game, no doubt,
unequivocally change the game, dribbled, drive, penetrate, and then as

(21:07):
he got older, you know, he maintained being the best
in the game. Fadeaway jumpers became a thing for him.
And you know, honestly, if he if he hadn't gone
away from the league for a few seasons. Whether you
think that was for gambling reasons or whether or not
it was actually his choice, who knows. Does he have
an eight peat as the top player in the NBA

(21:28):
with the Chicago Bulls. I think it's possible. I mean,
that's how good they were when he stepped away and
then he comes back and they win three more, right,
But I also look at the longevity of Lebron James,
the impact and he's got in the game, the way
he plays the game, the assists that the rebounds, the
total points statistically, it's hard to hold down Lebron James

(21:51):
because of that fact. But I look, I think arguments
can be made on both sides. My generation tends to
fight for Jordan. The younger generation, in a lot of respects,
tends to fight for Lebron James. But this news came
out yesterday and quite frankly, I was a little bit
floored because NBC announced that Hall of Famer Michael Jordan

(22:15):
will be a special contributor to its NBA coverage beginning
this follow Now, the NBA is moving back to NBC, which,
in all honesty, the last time it was really at
NBC was when Michael Jordan was a huge part of
the NBA, and so Jordan and I remember, look before

(22:38):
I get further down the Jordan rabbit hole for a second,
you know, I remember Marv Albert, I remember listening to
Bill Walton on the calls on those NBC coverage, you know,
on the NBC coverage of the NBA Playoffs, which was
really really good. Now I could take it back even further.

(23:00):
I remember when it was covered by CBS as well,
with Pat O'Brien on the call. Love that in the
late eighties, but the nineties were generally kind of dominated
by NBC and postseason basketball. They had that very familiar
jingle you wrote and then like you'd have like Marv

(23:44):
Alvert over the top, Michael Jordan then the Bulls coming
into this matchup. I mean that was you know, that
was awesome, And Jordan is going to be back as
a special contributor to the NBA for coverage on NBC.
He made the announcement via bity you know, at NBC's
Upfront on Monday, following an announcement on social media. NBA

(24:08):
and Peacock announcing a legendary addition to our team. We're
thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to
the NBA on NBC and Peacock. NBC's eleven year agreement
with the league begins with the twenty twenty five season.
The network did not disclose the details regarding Jordan's specific role.

(24:28):
ESPN said, regardless of marks, his first TV role covering
any league or the league in any capacity since retiring
in two thousand and three with six NBA titles and
five MVPs. Jordan, who's now sixty two, on the Charlotte
Hornets from twenty ten through twenty twenty three and is
a co founder of Team twenty three XI Racing along

(24:50):
with Denny Hamlin in NASCAR. NBC is returning to cover
to the NBA for the first time since two thousand
and two when they take it over. So, look, I
don't know how impactful or great Jordan will be as
an analyst. I don't know how significant this special contributor
role will be. But I know this, for a large

(25:16):
portion of the population, Michael Jordan is basketball and so
to get his take on it, Look, I think we
all I think we've all grown to love the TNT
broadcast with Shaq and Charles Barkley and Kenny the Jet Smith.

(25:37):
I mean, that's spectacular, and from what I understand, that
program inside the NBA with Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley
and Kenny the Jet Smith and Shaq. They will be
moving to ESPN and ABC with the new partnership via
TNT Sports or with TNT Sports in the NBA, and

(25:59):
that that show. Quite frankly, you know, it's amazing the
energy that those guys bring to the table at the
wee hours of the night when some of these playoff
games you know, run till well past midnight on the
East Coast. So look, I think if you're an NBA fan,

(26:21):
which I know in this market can be few and
far between for a litany of reasons, including the regular
season product of which I have often argued the regular
season needs to be shortened. But if you are a
fan of the NBA, depending on how much Michael Jordan
is a special contributor for NBC, I think, and again

(26:45):
with Peacock as well. You know, it's going to force
more people into streaming. But I've got a feeling it's
going to be a very interesting twenty twenty five season
for fans tuning in to watch the NBA and to
see the coverage that they get from both of these
networks as there's a little shift in the coverage with

(27:09):
ESPN and TNT. Excuse me, ESPN and NBC sort of
taking the reins on that front. Eight zero three four
five zero zero eighty six text line, phone line, and
again you can be a part of the program anytime,
any place, anywhere on our website. That's Clemson sports Talk
dot com. All right, with a quick break, we'll come

(27:31):
back talk a little Clempson College football on the number,
rocking and rolling with you a Tuesday, Clemson Sports Talk.
All right. So we mentioned last week when the news
broke about Clipson a Notre Dame announcing a twelve year
series with one another, and looking at the tail of
the tape over the past twenty five years, I would

(27:56):
I would ask you who do you think has been better? Now? Again,
Daboswingi and Clemson have had an unprecedented run during his tenure,
specifically about the last eleven twelve years. But what if
I told you that over twenty five seasons, Clemson is

(28:19):
thirty wins better than Notre Dame thirty. The Tigers have
two hundred and forty six wins since two thousand. By
comparison to Notre Dames two hundred and sixteen, the Tigers
have eighty six losses compared to one hundred and two

(28:40):
for Notre Dame, so just sixteen different in the loss
category for the Tigers head to head. These two teams
have met six times in that span. The Tigers are
four and two in those games. Clempson's made seven college
football Playoff appearances. Notre Dame has made three. And again,
let's not pretend the college football playoffs has been around

(29:02):
for twenty five years. But in the timeline of the
college football playoff eleven seasons, Clyps has been there seven times.
Notre Dame three bowl wins during that time. Clempson has
one to fifteen. Notre Dame has one eleven. The Tigers
have had thirteen ten win seasons, Notre Dame with eleven
during that time as well. But I couldn't help but

(29:25):
not be flabbergasted. But you know that six meetings that
they've had since two thousand, all of which have come
since the twenty fifteen meeting in Death Valley, but more specifically,
just eight meetings between these two in their history, and
now they're gonna meet beginning in twenty twenty seven, They're

(29:49):
gonna meet twelve. I mean, that's incredible. I don't really
care what you think about Notre Dame, whether you like them,
love them, hate them, whether you think, oh, they're just
overcooked every season at the beginning of the year to
be able to play that team twelve consecutive seasons. Given
their profile the viewership, especially when you've now got to

(30:12):
deal with the Atlantic Coast Conference where you benefit from
the eyeballs watching, you know the revenue distribution is going
to be enhanced by the teams with the most viewership.
This is absolutely going to help Clemson in that regard.
And then you think about like the wild card spots
in the college football Playoff, and there have been rumors
that the collge Fotball Playoff might want to go to sixteen,

(30:34):
but you want to keep your name in the mix.
You want to keep your name out there with the
possibility of being one of those Well, what you got
to do when your conference is at carrying the water,
so to speak, have teams on your schedule whose names resonate,
and with Clemson having matchups with Oklahoma and Georgia in

(30:55):
the future, and the potential that those games may fail
to come to fruition the SEC were to advance to
a nine game conference schedule, it doesn't mean they wouldn't happen,
but the likelihood of them happening would be very slim.
From that standpoint, you know, I think that Clemson and

(31:16):
Notre Dame to a degree heads their bets on one another.
And to think about the fact, like like go back
in time for a minute. You know, we were talking
about NBC earlier. Remember when Notre Dame was like the
loan one of the loan programs all national television because
they were on NBC like every week, especially their home
games were on NBC. And you think about like the

(31:39):
teams that faced Notre Dame and to a degree maybe
how you felt about them. Let's say one of those
teams was Southern cal Let's say one of those teams
was Stanford Michigan. You know when you talked about Florida State,
the teams that played Notre Dame, that this was like

(32:00):
when South Carolina was an independent and they had to
line up against Florida State and Miami, et cetera. You
you couldn't just you know, expect chop liver. You went
out and you played the teams that were available, and
Notre Dame, because they were an independent, was pretty consistently

(32:22):
picking and choosing the same programs and creating some of
the all time great rivalries out there. Now, I don't
know what the ebbs and flows are on what becomes
a rivalry and what doesn't. And I don't know when
it becomes an accepted rivalry amongst the people. But when
you schedule up twelve games non conference, twelve games against

(32:49):
the team like Clemson and Georgia did in the eighties,
you're saying, hey, this is a rivalry. This It might
not be year one one, but it will be by
year four or five, and it all going sure will
be a rivalry in the mind's eye of the general

(33:09):
public by year eleven and twelve. And kudos to Clemson
and to Notre Dame for pulling this off. And better yet,
maybe for you the fans. Nothing says it has to
end at twelve. I mean, yeah, the contract at this
point certainly says it will end at twelve. And I
have suggested that maybe the twelve don't even get played.

(33:30):
I don't know, maybe six get played. Either way, I
think that for Clemson and for Notre Dame, big step
in the right way, big opportunity during this college football
playoff era for both of them, both of them to

(33:51):
secure at least a platform in which to launch themselves
into the college football Playoff by having a game on
their schedule that you can circle and go, Man, that's
a big win. Now, look, somebody's gonna lose it. But
the thing we've learned watching college football is it's not

(34:11):
always about if you lost the game, right. I mean,
teams in the SEC lose every week. It becomes man,
but that's tough competition, and that's a good football team,
and that's what you want to have happen. You know,
you both both Clemson and Notre Dame want to benefit
with a win, especially with a win, but also not

(34:33):
get not get marked down to extremely for a loss.
And so that's where I think this thing is. And
from the eyeball standpoint and the revenue from the ACC,
it's a huge win for Clemson in my estimation. All right,
A three four five H zero zero eighty six. That

(34:54):
is the text line in the phone line. Again, be
a part of the program anytime, any place, anywhere on
our website, Clemson sports Talk dot com. We hit a
quick break, We'll come back. We'll put a bow on
our number one here on a Tuesday afternoon, it is
the show. The shakesare south Land. On final segment of
out number one of the show. The shakesare south Land
if you're just joining us. Some of the biggest news

(35:16):
to reports from Brett McMurphy earlier today that Clemson and
LSU likely scheduled for a seven to thirty kickoff on
August the thirtieth, under the lights in Clemson's Death Valley.
If the Tigers win here and there when they travel
to LSU, I would say the Death Valley. But you know,

(35:39):
thinking about it, as I mentioned beforehand, and if you
were with us, then I think I mistakenly said that
that the Ohio State Texas game will be a Neon kickoff,
That's just not the case. It is going to be
the noon kick. You know that the program or whatever
they've got over on Fox Fox Big noon kickoff, I

(36:02):
guess speaking of noonkick. By the way, check out our
friends over at Silver Coffee co Silvicoffeeco dot com for
that noonkick coffee from Tigertown, one of our sponsors. Awesome stuff.
Get the jug head. I think we've got all kinds
of different blends of coffee made right there in the Upstate.
Go check them out today Silva coffeecode dot com. But

(36:24):
that big Neon kick on ESPN. I'm shoot me on Fox.
Good gracious one. You're all over the place on Fox.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
You know.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
I think when I saw that, I believe that's when
I thought, oh, that's where, that's you know where, and
when that Texas Ohio State game will kick off, that's
just not the case. I think that's going to be
an eight o'clock game. It'll rival Clemson and LSU. But
it made the argument with Clemson LSU being a night game,

(36:56):
the intrigued behind those two teams, potentially two top five,
top ten programs coming into the season. The expectations around
Clemson right now more and more people placing them at
or near the top of the preseason rankings or the
post spring rankings. A lot of it on the backs
of k club Nick. But you know, you get a

(37:18):
chance if you run game Day in Clemson at noon
and then you keep coach Corso around. You can have
a little celebration there at the end of the show
at noon when he puts on the helmet. But don't
you want that to be about his helmet pick then
circle back around that evening and do a little special
college game Day post show. You'll have Herbstreet there. He'll

(37:40):
be on the call. You can pretty much keep the
whole game day crew intact that day, and assuming things
go the way Clempson fans won them two, you can
have a little celebratory moment there in Death Valley with
Lee Corso. And although I did say that, I thought

(38:01):
with a loss, I said this earlier. I thought with
a loss, a lot of people would bail, a lot
of people would go home. I started to think about
it a little bit more. If you said, hey, fans, listen,
regardless of the outcomes, stick around after the game College
game Day, We're going to do a special send off

(38:22):
for Lee Corso. I mean, I get it, it'd be late.
A lot of people want to hit the road. But
I think if Clemson wins, people would want to stick
around for a little you know, twenty thirty minute. Who
rob about Corso? Maybe not everybody. I certainly couldn't. Why

(38:43):
not so any way you hate Corso? No post game Although,
in fairness, if Clemson gets to win a LSU in
Week one at home, as much as again I enjoy
covering Dabo Sweeney. He has been known to dance a

(39:03):
little bit too long for those late night games. I
don't mind so much. If you're dancing at a three
thirty kickoff, I'm still gonna get to bed well before midnight.
But if you're dancing after one of those seven thirty
kicks or an eight o'clock kick or an ACC championship game,

(39:25):
holy moly, debo, it's two am by the time we're
getting home. Let's don't dance quite so much. Slow down
a little bit anyway, just taking a look and thinking
through it all. You know, when you talk about this game,

(39:48):
if indeed Bret McMurphy's right, you go get that early
season national stage, and you're gonna get a chance to
prove yourself against the Southeastern Conference foe and two of
the top quarterbacks in college football going head to head.
You also, and this is probably a little subtle understory

(40:09):
or an undertone of it all, do you remember what
Brian Kelly looked like when he ventured into Death Valley
with LSU. You think those posters won't make their way
to Death Valley. I mean, that was such a hilarious
moment for a lot of reasons, but I think most
notably because you know, when you guys all look at
Notre Dame, when you think about the fighting irish when
you think about what I was talking about in the

(40:30):
last segment, like they play in huge venues against great opponents,
and Brian Kelly look like he'd been coaching a Pop
Warner football team the first time he saw Clemson. I mean,
Brian Kelly looked at Tiger Town in the eyes and
you could see his soul. It was a matter of fact.

(40:54):
If you don't remember or you didn't see it, just
go to Google. Throw this in your machine when you
get home. Brian Kelly and then Clemson, it'll be the
first picture you see. I don't know what it was
about that moment, whether it was the lights, whether it

(41:15):
was the crowd. You can't find another photo of Brian
Kelly running or walking out onto a field where he
looks as stunned by the opponents and the crowd as
he did in that moment in Death Valley. I mean,

(41:36):
Brian Kelly, look, I'm looking at it right now. Man.
It looks like a scene. It looks like a scene
out of a movie, like what's happening here? B K
You can't live that one down, well you can. There's
been one other moment in Brian Kelly's coaching life that

(41:58):
probably puts that one a little bit to shame. That's
the one where he's on that little spindle with a
recruit and he's doing like the little batman Cada saying Okay,
that's probably a worst moment. That's probably more embarrassing. But man,
he like he'd never seen a football field before when
when Clemson walked out there when he was at Notre Dame.

(42:20):
And he'll be back in Death Valley under the lights again.
According to Brett McMurphy, our two around the band stay
with us.

mets plumbing dot com. That's the website as well. Our
phone line eight of three four five O zero zero
eighty six is available to you twenty four hours today,
seven days a week. So I wanted to get to
some in NBA, you know, after the Map shockingly won

(43:54):
the number one pick in the draft. But I can't
get to that in this moment because of the news
out of Major League Baseball, and I don't have a

(44:16):
dog in the fight. I am not a huge proponent
of the sport, but I cover it and back in September.
Pete Rose died September thirtieth, twenty twenty four, and the
biggest issue surrounding Pete Rose and his life after baseball

(44:41):
was his inability to be elected to the Hall of
Fame because of gambling on baseball. And for years, when
the Hall of Fame would come and go, the inductions
would come and go, I would always say, I do
not understand why. If you want to keep Pete Rose

(45:04):
out as a manager because he gambled while he was managing,
that's fine, But what about Pete Rose as a player?
What about all the things that he did as a player.
But with all the steroid scandals and everything else that
have gone on in baseball as well, the argument was
kind of like, what are we doing this guy's alive.

(45:25):
He's alive, you can still honor him. Well, would you know?
Today the news comes out Major League Baseball will allow
shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose, among other players, to

(45:45):
be reinstated and now eligible for the Hall of Fame.
That news coming out earlier today, unbelievable. The all time
king now available to be in the Hall of Fame.

(46:09):
But while he was alive, with years and years of
opportunity to you know, allow him in and nothing, but
he dies and now we figure it out. I really

(46:32):
hate it. I really hate it for Pete Rose. He
certainly knew that gambling was a possibility, you know it was,
it was the wrong thing to do, and that it
could possibly lead to this situation. Yet here we are,
months after he passes away and the and MLB's Rob Manfred,

(46:54):
the Commissioner of Baseball, removed his permanent in eligibility ban
from the Hall of Fame. The statement is saying, obviously,
a person no longer will just cannot represent a threat
to the integrity of the game. Moreover, it is hard
to conceive of apility that has more to turn effect
than one that lasts a lifetime with no reprieve. Therefore,

(47:19):
I have concluded that permanent ineligibility ends upon the passing
of the disciplined individual, and mister Rose will be removed
from the permanently ineligible list, meaning that Rose will not
be in the Hall of Fame during his lifetime, but
can now be elected since he is dead. What are

(47:44):
we doing?

Speaker 4 (47:46):
I just.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
I mean to me, gambling as a as a manager
is like being in a completely different job than being
the player. And if you wanted to keep him out

(48:14):
because of the managing side, then that's fine now Locally, certainly,
the news about shoeless Joe Jackson is a big deal
as well. Jackson, of course, was stained by the situation

(48:36):
that was highlighted in the movie Eight Men Out around
the Black Sox scandal, which was quote one of the
darkest chapters in baseball history. Other players who have been
now reinstated for potential election into the Hall of Fame

(49:03):
would be Ace Pitcher Eddie Sikoti I believe is how
you say his name from the nineteen nineteen White Sox
that were accused of this Black Sox scandal. Also George
buck Weaver, the third baseman, another one on that list.
I haven't seen eight men out in a long long time.
I probably I probably should fire that one up. I

(49:29):
probably should now. Jackson, who died in nineteen fifty one,
was considered for decades by voters, but Pete Rose's name
has never appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot. He
died in September at the age of eighty three. Rose's family,
who lobbied for him on his behalf, after he passed away,

(49:52):
put out a statement saying, quote, this has been a
long journey on behalf of the family. They are very,
very pleased and know their father would have been overjoyed
at the decision. Today. Pete Rose and shoeless Joe Jackson's
candidacy will likely be decided by the Hall of Fame

(50:14):
sixteen member Classic Baseball Era Committee, which considers the careers
of players that ended more than fifteen years ago. That
committee is not scheduled to meet until December of twenty
twenty seven, and Rose and Jackson would need twelve of
sixteen votes from those individuals to win introduction into the

(50:39):
Baseball Hall of Fame again. Pete Rose's numbers astounding, specially
as a player. Lifetime batting average was three h three
Major League Baseball career hits leader with four two hundred
and fifty six, major league career leader in games played

(51:00):
three thousand, five hundred and sixty two, Career leader in
at bats with fourteen thousand and fifty three, Career leader
in singles three thousand, two hundred and fifteen, career leader
in outs. Not that that's the place to be, but
ten thousand, three hundred and twenty eight. It just talks
about his longevity. Won three World titles, twice with the

(51:22):
Reds once with the Philadelphia Phillies. Stat experts often agreed
that Pete Rose likely won more regular season games one thousand,
nine hundred and seventy two than any Major League Baseball
player or professional athlete in history. He also won three

(51:44):
batting titles, two Gold Glove Awards, and the MVP, plus
was the Rookie of the Year. As for more closely
to homes Shoeless Show Jackson, he had a career batting
average of three point fifty six, the fourth highest in
MLB history. Jackson, who accepted five thousand dollars in gamblers

(52:15):
cash to throw the nineteen nineteen World Series, still batt
at three seventy five and did not make an error
and hit the series only home run. Now I gotta go.
Let me see if this movie. Can I find Eight
Men Out? It says it's on Amazon, Amazon Prime or

(52:44):
Prime Video. I gotta see this. So that's what Eight
Men Out? Yeah, it looks like I can fire that
bad boy up right now. You know, I watched The
Natural when I was a kid. I watched The Sandlot
when I was a kid. I watched Rookie of the Year,

(53:07):
the one that everybody talks about, Field of Dreams. I
didn't watch that till a few years ago, and I'm
gonna be honest that one left something to be desired
for me. I know, I don't know why I didn't
like it. I don't know if it was if it
aged in terms of just the video. I hope Eight

(53:29):
Men Out with in age like that. But yeah, it
looks like I can watch it. It looks like so if
you have an Amazon Prime subscription and you haven't seen
Eight Men Out, which by the way, it gets great ratings.
Two hour movie, I'm on it. I am absolutely gonna
watch that one. Might try to get my son to

(53:51):
tune in and watch it too. He doesn't love movies
per se. Certain movies. But maybe I can get him
to watch that one. It's a sports movie. Little gambling,
little little little uh, you know, little illegal Betton. But

(54:13):
my goodness, I mean, yes, the lifetime ban, his life
is over. I get all that, but it sure feels
like we did Pete Rose wrong. Well I didn't do
him wrong. You didn't do him wrong, But you know

(54:35):
what I mean, doesn't it feel like he was done
wrong as a player? Like I say, the gamble. Now,
if you if you had definitive proof that he also
was gambling as a player, and you wanted that to
be a key part of your argument that well he

(54:56):
gambled as a player, swanee.

Speaker 4 (54:59):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
But when you say well he gambled as a manager,
and I say, well did he gamble is a player?
You said, well, we don't have any evidence that he
gambled as a player. Well, put him in as a player.
Put him in this let's let's take okay, take his
greatness on the diamond out right, take his greatness as

(55:27):
a player out of this equation for a second. To
say he never played baseball and say he was only
a manager, and he was a great manager, and the
manager worthy of being in the Hall of Fame and
he never bet on baseball. You would say he deserves
to be in as a manager, and I say, well,

(55:53):
what about as a player? You go, well, he wasn't
a player. Okay, now flip it. Now he's a great player,
not a manager. You go, well, would you put him
in as a player, sure, would you put him in as manager? No,
he wasn't a manager. Okay, Well he did both, and

(56:15):
with one of them he was gambling. Oddly though, I
don't believe gambling for his team to lose, gambling on
his team to win, which, in my eyes, if you're
gambling on your team to win, what rule are you

(56:36):
really breaking? You're not throwing games, You're trying to win, Guys,
I'm trying to win this game because we won't win
a pendent and I put two hundred and fifty grand
on it. Like, if you're not gambling on yourself to
lose and throwing games and making bad decisions so that
you do lose, I'm gonna be honest. I really don't

(57:00):
have a problem with players betting on sports or managers
betting on sports, as long as they're betting on themselves
to win. Whoa no problem? With that, I don't I
don't care. I do not care. If players and coaches

(57:27):
and managers are betting on themselves to win games. Congratulations
for believing in yourself. Now betting on your betting on
your team to lose. That's a little bit different, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
Are we clear, Yes, sir?

Speaker 1 (57:49):
Are we clear, crystal?

Speaker 2 (57:51):
But by every indication, he was betting on the Reds
to win. But he didn't do it as a player.
And so if we go back to that scenario where
I talked about dividing his you know, who he was
on the diamond versus who he was as a manager,

(58:16):
why would you keep him out as a player if
he was betting on baseball as a manager, Like, what
if he was the best manager of all time, but
you found out he was playing with loaded baseball bats.
He was cheating when he was playing, but he was

(58:36):
a he was a straight narrow manager. Would you go, well,
you can't. You can't cheat as a player and being
a straight narrow manager. I just think they're two different things.
They are two different pieces. I wonder I'd have to
look this up real quick. Is there any play anyone

(59:02):
in the Baseball Hall of Fame? As a player and
as a manager, like interdependently. I'm looking at I don't
see anything that was pretty common for people to be
player slash managers. Heck, even Pete Rose was a player

(59:23):
slash manager in eighty four. But I bring it up because, hypothetically,
is it possible in your mind, is it possible that
the player could be so good that at the end
of their playing days, you go, hey, we're putting him
in the Hall of Fame, and then he decides to

(59:44):
turn his attention to managing, and he becomes so good
at managing that we go, hey, we need to put
him in the Hall of Fame as a manager as well.
And you put him in again, put him in as
a coach, put him in as a manager, or excuse me,
put him in as a player, put him in as
a manager. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I'm

(01:00:05):
trying to think, like football or basketball, has that ever happened?
Or somebody went in as one and then earned their
way in as another, Like imagine Phil Jackson. If Phil
Jackson had had like this impeccable playing career and he
went definitely a Hall of Famer, and then he comes
back and becomes a legendary coach like if Bird had

(01:00:28):
had a better coaching career perhaps or a longer coaching career.
Could you get put into the Hall of Fame as
a player while you're coaching, and then as a coach
if you're great, because if you can, you could argue

(01:00:49):
that that whole scenario with Pete Rose and his band
is ridiculous. But yeah, that news just coming out a
little bit ago. Just months month after Pete Rose's death,
Rob Manfred, Commissioner of Major League Baseball, will allow the
all time hit king and one of the greatest batters

(01:01:10):
in the history of the sport. In a historic and
sweeping decision, Rob Manfred announced the removal of Pete Rose,
Shoeless Joe Jackson, and other deceased Major League Baseball players
from the permanently ineligible list. What a story, Mike, you've

(01:01:30):
Agamecoccentral dot Com set to join us in just a
few minutes. We'll talk with Mike. You've about that one,
get his thoughts on Pete Rose and major League Baseball.
And Mike grew up, you know, up in Massachusetts, where
baseball is I think a little more hallowed than it

(01:01:51):
is in the South. I know you Atlanta Braves. Fans
love the sport, and I'm not trying to say that,
but this sport really really got its roots in the
big cities, Boston, New York, Chicago. I mean, that's where
baseball really began. It didn't begin in the Heartland, it
didn't begin in the southeast. It was New England, Midwestern cities,

(01:02:17):
et cetera that really drove that sport to where it
is today. All right, quick, breat we'll come back with Mike.
You've a right after this. Stay with us Clemson Sports

(01:03:25):
back to tomorrow. He was having a little lunch in
downtown Boston, and that I think has run over. No
problemo will roll on. So NBA Action, NB A Action,
A lot of takeaways for you after last night's events

(01:03:51):
in the league, if you will, most specifically, what's going
on in this New York Boston sea where the New
York Knicks wine one thirteen and take a commanding three
to one lead in that series. Additionally, they're back on

(01:04:17):
the hardwood tomorrow at seven o'clock on TNT. Seeing Jason
Tatum in the fourth quarter leaving with a leg injury
and in a wheelchair last night further solidified, in my opinion,
the fact that this mountain is way too large for

(01:04:40):
the Celtics to scale. And so I think about New
York and the Knicks historically, and there probably have been
a lot of years where based off of some of

(01:05:03):
the teams in the East of Chicago, Bulls, et cetera,
where maybe you didn't really care if New York won
because you were too busy rooting for Michael Jordan. You
didn't care if New York won because you were fascinated
by the goings on in Miami or wherever whatever team

(01:05:29):
you were following, right, And you know New York has
not won. The Knicks have not won the NBA Championship
since nineteen seventy three. Now, I got to give myself
credit because I knew that off the top of the dome.
I was talking to my buddy last night about it.

(01:05:49):
I was like, you know, I don't pull for the Knicks.
I don't have a dog in the Knicks fight. But
in my life, the Knicks have been absolutely insignificant and
irrelevant in the NBA. Irrelevant just four conference titles. They

(01:06:14):
have not had one of those since nineteen ninety nine.
I mean, for the brand to be what the brand
has been, the results have not if you're picking up
what I'm putting down. And so last night, in the
waiting moments of that game against the Boston Celtics, I

(01:06:35):
started thinking about all the success that Boston has had
all the success that my Los Angeles Lakers have had,
and I started thinking, I want the Knicks to play
in the NBA Finals. I want the Knicks to get

(01:06:55):
to the finals. I'm okay. I would sign off now
on a Nick championship. I would. I don't know what
it is, I you know, And honestly, with the way
things are shaping up with Cleveland and the Pacers right now,

(01:07:16):
with that game tonight seven o'clock, the Pacers can advance.
I mean, you might have two lovable losers battling for
the right to go to the NBA Finals, between Indiana
and New York, and I'm okay with it. As a
matter of fact, I would almost root for those teams
to win in the NBA Finals. Also, last night in

(01:07:40):
the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves put their series against the
Golden State Warriors on the brink with a one to
seventeen to one to ten victory. Golden State again without
Steph Curry, Game five to Borrow, nine thirty. And if
Steph Curry can't go, I don't think. I don't think
Golden State's got enough. So I would push Minnesota into

(01:08:07):
the Conference finals and then you've got Oklahoma City and Denver.
I mean Denver recently's got more history with a recent championship.
But if Oklahoma City wins that series tied two games
a piece, they'll play tonight at nine thirty on T
and T. If Oklahoma City, who's been the best team

(01:08:29):
in the NBA wins that series, listened to your conference finals.
Oklahoma City versus Minnesota in Indiana versus the New York Knicks.
I mean, that's new championship blood all over the place.

(01:08:54):
I mean, the thought about those teams battling the right
to go to the finals. I think that's a lot
of fun. And I know a lot of people have
been fairly disappointed with the NBA playoffs, I think mostly
because some of the bigger names that you know aren't
in there, like Lebron James, et cetera. But man, I'll

(01:09:15):
tell you what fresh blood in the NBA for sure
if that comes to the scenario, I mean, you're gonna
be talking about franchises that. I mean, let's see, Oklahoma
City would have won one in the seventies, I guess
in Seattle, Minnesota, as their franchise has not, I mean

(01:09:37):
except when they were the Lakers. But the Lakers are gone,
so that's not even that franchise in Indiana. I don't
think they've ever won the NBA title, and the New
York hadn't done it in since the seventies. I mean,
it's dude, root for that. Speaking of the NBA, is
something crazy that happened? Did you see what happened last

(01:09:57):
night during the draft lottery? I'll tell you about it
when we returned Stay with Us, the show that Shakes
the south Land Clemson Sports tal log and swan with
you Now. The ACC meetings are going on down at
Amelia Island this week and Dabo Sweeney was on the
set of one of the programs on the ACC network.

(01:10:19):
I guess it's ACC PM with Mark Packer and Taylor Tannenbaum,
and Sweeney was asked about former Clemson basketball player Ian
Shefflin in his transition to the football team. Uh. Here's
what Dabo Sweeny had to say about the latest six

(01:10:39):
foot eight addition to the Tigers tight.

Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
End room that Ian Shefflin finally got his pads fitted
his hel man, how does he look at Clemson basketball player?

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
We went to the inter campus portal too, so we went,
we went to the basketball portal and got the big chef.
So he's I haven't seen him yet, but I'm just
gonna tell you he's gonna be massive. He's gonna go
from just a solid looking guy on the basketball court
to an elite looking football player. So it's gonna be

(01:11:10):
a lot of fun. And you know, we got to
we got a lot of work to do with him.
But I just I think it's a great move for him.
I think he can spend these next six seven eight months,
you know, really building a foundation to football and technically, fundamentally, mentally,
you know, just just knowledge wise, and I think I
think it could really set him up. I really think
all of the characteristics translate. You think about a guy

(01:11:34):
that's been high pointing the ball with collision balance against
other six seven seven footers. Now all of a sudden,
he's ht pointing the ball against six three guys. Sure,
you know. You think about a guy who's spent the
last however many years moving his feet stand in front
of people, and and now he can do that and

(01:11:54):
pass protection, but he can knock crap out him. He
can use his hands and they don't throw a penalty here,
blow whistle right, and he likes that. Yeah, and he
doesn't have to just go set a screen. He can
go smash a dude, and instead of getting a guy
open for a jump shot, he's opening up a running
lane from the running back. So I think it's gonna
be a lot of fun to coach him. We'll see
how it all plays out. And honestly, again, as I've
told him, I mean, we don't need him to win,

(01:12:16):
but I would love to be a part of his
story because I really do think that his skills are
going to translate.

Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
And he played football.

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
He played football till the tenth grade, and he was
the He wasn't didn't just play, he was the best player.
And he played quarterback, he played tight end, he played
d n He was also the best baseball player, played
pitcher of first baseman. So this is a high level athlete,
and he's been a highly successful player at the highest
level of college basketball and could go play pro ball.

(01:12:44):
But I think this is, you know, just an opportunity
he couldn't pass up, and you know, we'll see where
it goes.

Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Daboswheney there talked about the addition of being Sheffeld and
Sheffell and obviously would not go to the NBA in
the NBA draft, but an opportunity for him to maybe
get chance to get drafted into the NFL if he
has a good season and if not, a good play overseas.
And speaking of the NBA, you know, I was looking
at some of the latest mock drafts for the upcoming year,

(01:13:12):
because last night the draft lottery went down with a
one point eight percent chance to get the number one
pick the Dallas Mavericks, who traded Luca Away to the
Los Angeles Lakers. Somehow a little maybe you know, I
talked about New York earlier, maybe a little quintessential New
York eighty five magic when the New York Knicks got

(01:13:33):
Patrick Ewing. But the Mavericks, against the odds, get the
number one pick in the draft. They're expected to select
Cooper Flagg. The NBA draft takes place June twenty fifth
and twenty sixth. Here's my thing. I'm not sure how
good of a player Cooper flags going to be in

(01:13:54):
the NBA. I mean, I hate to be mister throw
up the the question marks, but I do. I mean,
he was good, don't get me wrong, might be great,
but I'm not sure he's NBA great, and he might

(01:14:16):
be like the second best player on the team, But
I don't know if Cooper Flag is a guy you
can win with. You know, I was looking through the
list and this is the other thing. By the way,
san Antonio overcame the odds. They got the second pick.
They were projected as the eighth pick, so they'll be
able to add a pretty decent weapon to go along

(01:14:37):
with Victor winmbin Yama. The seventy six ers got the
third pick, and then the Charlotte Hornets dropped only one
spot to number four. The losers in the draft were
I believe Utah, Washington, and New Orleans who all slid

(01:14:57):
outside the top four. But I started looking through all
of the potential draft picks and like I said, it's
not like you were gonna see Ian Sheffill's name. Chase
Hunter's name is not in that group. But I think

(01:15:20):
one of the issues the NBA has at this point
is the lack of time that players spend collegiately. No,
because you're not invested, you don't care. Cooper Flagg projected
number one. Freshman Dylan Harper from Rutgers projected number two
to San Antonio freshman Ace Bailey, Rutgers freshmen to the

(01:15:43):
seventy six ers Charlotte, taking VJ. Edgecombe, freshman shooting guard
from Bailey, Utah selecting Jeremiah Fears freshman point guard from Oklahoma,
Washington taking Trey Johnson, freshman shooting guard from Texas. New
Orleans with the seventh pick, taking freshmen Common Malawok from

(01:16:07):
Duke the Big Center Brooklyn with the eighth pick, taking
freshmen Con Kinnupple from the Blue Devils. The first player
selected in the mock draft that wasn't a freshman, South
Carolina sophomore Colin Murray Boyles. Eight players the top eight

(01:16:32):
projected picks in the draft all freshmen, and I think
it was like thirteen of the top fourteen. The first
upper classmen that I saw drafted was at seventeen Danny
Wolf in a mock draft to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wolf
a power forward from Michigan. They're either Europeans, but mostly

(01:16:59):
this year that upper fifteen freshman, and I think the
NBA hurts from that because you're not invested. Like Anthony
Edwards is a stud, a star, an incredible talent, but
what was it Georgia for a year. You don't get
time to lem marinate, you don't get time to enjoy them.

(01:17:22):
You'll get time to get to know them. So you're
certainly not gonna invest in them at the NBA. But
if they were at your even Georgia fans, I mean,
but if they were your school for three or four years,
I mean, you're invested. That's a big difference. All right,
quick break, we'll put the ball in the show next.

Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
What have you done for me lately? It's a fair question.
Just don't lose sight of the bigger picture. Don't forget history.
Lucky for us at Clemson, the answer to the questions
what have you done for me lately? And what have
you done? Always what they say. We win.

Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
Final segment on a Tuesday. We'll get the bike over tomorrow.
All right. So some bad news fortable Celtics. It looks
like it's gonna be a long rehab. Jason Tatum, former
Duke star the injury last night Achilles achilles tear. That

(01:19:20):
news coming out just a little bit ago. So Man
already had surgery for a ruptured right achilles tendon. Expected
to make a full recovery. But that is a huge
blow to the Celtics, not just for these playoffs, but
for a portion of next season as well. That recovery.

(01:19:43):
I've had some achilles issues in the past. That is
a rough go man. Then that hurts. I mean that hurts.
You hate it for him, man, he's one of the
best players in the NBA, one of the best players
in the league. But it looks like you can book
the New York Knicks to the NBA Finals up three

(01:20:06):
games to one. Also, we were talking about Clemson and
LSU in that seven thirty start time that's been projected.
And again I while I was out there nosing around
during the break, I saw another another conversation the Ohio
State and Texas was going to be a noon kickoff.

(01:20:29):
Now I think of it, so I think about it
from Fox's perspective. If that does indeed come to fruition,
like you you got the morning window. If you want it,
you got that new window. You don't have to share
it with anybody. That's the game in town. You try
to run up. Certainly, the conversations about arch Manning, Yes,

(01:20:53):
but we talked yesterday about her. Was he yesterday or Friday?
We talked about the quarterback situation at Ohio State. Either way,
ESPN today now it is official. This I just got
the email moments ago. ESPN today officially announcing their early

(01:21:18):
season college football matchups, and Clemson and LSU is indeed official.
Seven thirty ABC. Here's a rundown of the game. Saturday,
August twenty third, at noon, it'll be the air Lingus
College Football Classic between number fourteen Iowa State and number
eighteen Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland. That Thursday, at five thirty,

(01:21:40):
it'll be Boise State at South Florida on ESPN. Then
at nine o'clock Thursday, the August twenty eighth, it'll be
Nebraska versus Cincinnati. That game is gonna be played in
Kansas City on ESPN. Then Friday, August twenty ninth, at
eight o'clock, Georgia Tech at Colorado on the ESPN. Saturday

(01:22:02):
August thirtieth, at noon, it'll be the AFFLAT Kickoff game
between Syracuse and Tennessee and Atlanta on ABC. Then at
three thirty at it'll be number nine Alabama at Florida
State on ABC. Then at seven thirty it'll be number
six LSU at number two Clemson on ABC. The following day,

(01:22:23):
Sunday at three o'clock, it'll be the AFLAT kickoff game
between Virginia Tech and number thirteen South Carolina and Atlanta
on ESPN. Then at seven thirty on Sunday, it'll be
number seven Notre Dame at number twenty one Miami on ABC.
And then on Monday, September the first eight pm, it'll
be TCU at North Carolina on the ESPN. So it's

(01:22:45):
now official. That news coming out just moments ago from
Clemson's Ross Taylor, communications director for the Clemson football program, wowsa,
wows a, wowser. That's gonna be a good opening weekend

(01:23:05):
in the world of college football in my opinion. Again,
if you want to read over it, we've got it
up right now over on Clemson sports Talk dot Com.
As the Tigers get set for a huge home opener
and a bunch of other really quality games out there
in the world of college football that opening weekend, and man,

(01:23:30):
what an opportunity for your Tigers to make a statement.
I mean, if you assume, if you assume that things
hold in terms of the rankings, and that Clemson comes
in like we've seen it all over the place, and
now here's the ESPN putting out an official release. And

(01:23:52):
what do they got signed up for? You? Number two
versus number six. That's gotta be game Day. I'm shifting
my momentum off of Ohio State. I'm shifting the momentum
to Clemson in LSU to host the ESPN's Game Day. Right.

(01:24:15):
They haven't put it out yet, did they. I don't
think they've said it yet. I'm just jumped double checking here. Yeah,
I don't think so. Yeah, I think Clemson's got it. Man,
I'm feeling better about it now with the noon kickoff
for the Fox game. I'm feeling it. Under the lights,
long day Herb Street, sticking around in town, I'm feeling it.

(01:24:41):
Mark it down. Corso's final head gear gonna be a
Clemson Tiger. I'm saying it right now. All right, we'll
talk to the other bar so they there's always Y'll
take care now and coat Tigers
