Speaker 7 (01:46):
Yes, well you were just talking about weather this weekend.
It's gonna feel more like August than October. Plenty of sunshine,
afternoon heat running well above normal, especially today for our Friday.
Dry but dry is kind of becoming an issue, Like
we're kind of going where we need a little bit
of rain.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
No drought conditions will start to hard us.

Speaker 7 (02:08):
But let's get through the weekend. Get outside, do something outside.
I'm sorry about the poor air quality, just it's where
we live right. In other news, six workers were injured
in an explosion involving water heaters at a hotel under
construction in downtown Houston yesterday and it's still going to

(02:29):
be an issue today. So according to the Houston Fire Department,
the incident occurred at the Holiday and Express. It's under
construction right there at Texas Avenue in Austin Streets. Happened
around eleven o'clock yesterday afternoon. Construction workers working on this
bank of tankless water heaters. Some kind of explosion occurred.
Six workers were injured. Officials say they were burned in
the face well. As the investigation on the structure of

(02:51):
the building continues. Texas Avenue, so from Prairie to Austin
Streets downtown, remained closed avoid the area.

Speaker 6 (02:59):
Seems like everywhere you look.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
These days, professional athletes are signing these gigantic new contracts
or endorsement deals. We've talked about the topic of athlete
pay because it's been trending from like the WNBA to
all the overseas sports leagues that are trying to pay
our athletes to come play for them. So how much
are these athletes actually making.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
A lot a lot of money? Yeah, exactly from Forbes
is ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
Yeah, the top.

Speaker 7 (03:25):
Ten this year total earnings were over one point four
billion dollars.

Speaker 8 (03:32):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
Obviously a portion of this income comes from endorsement deals,
business ventures, not just.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Their sports salaries.

Speaker 7 (03:40):
But Cristiano Ronaldo tops this list for what the third
consecutive year.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
How much money is he making now two hundred.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
And seventy five million dollars a year. Yes, it's an
it's inconceivable.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
Two hundred and seventy five million dollars. Some other names
we know on the list Steph Curry. Second, who's Tyson
Fury boxer?

Speaker 6 (04:02):
Boxer? He's number three.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
What does he do that off to the outside of
the ring. That's so big? I think boxing, you just
make a bunch of money. Yeah, and he probably has
a bunch of stuff stuff.

Speaker 7 (04:15):
Dak Prescott number four on this list, and Lionel Messy
number five. It's another guy we know on this list,
Kevin Durant. He's top ten, busy guy. Good for him,
good for everyone.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Goy, try to.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
Avoid it today, but let me go ahead and tell
you today is Taylor Swift Today? Her new album The
Life of a show Girl dropped at midnight.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Did your wife stay up to listen?

Speaker 9 (04:38):
So?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I did not. She released no.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
Singles ahead of time, right, it was just everything was
at midnight. Yeah, people were going to targets, I guess.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Waiting in line by the album.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
I learned yesterday that there are some theaters you can
go to and watch the lyric videos.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
And you had to pre buy those tickets, and so.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
They're watching the full album on.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
The big screen.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Think it's cool that she still can command people to
get out and buy the physical copy of her album.
You know, yes, you can just sit at home. I mean, listen,
your wife just had a kid. But you can go
and download the album starting at midnight, right, But people
went out to go buy it. You know, they want
to own it, they want to hold it in their hand.
And that's it doesn't happen anymore.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I mean, I has some code for the next album.
Probably well, if you look at the back of it,
it's gotten an eel and you know what an eel means.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
And the record was pretty it was orange, like sparkly orange.
So I mean, I get it.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
Everyone's talking and trying to dissect the lyrics already, trying
to find beef or tea. Apparently there's some beef with
Charlie xcx oh.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
They used to be decent friends, like pretty tight.

Speaker 7 (05:43):
Charlie opened for Taylor on one of her tours, but
they had a falling out. Charlie started a relationship with
Now she's married to the guy from nineteen seventy five, which.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
Is a bands made of Taylor's X.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
Yeah, matt Hewley, I mean I get it, the beef,
the teas fund.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
I wanted to know.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
I wanted to know what she said about Travis and
the new album. And there's some obviously a song or
seventeen about him.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Something well his friends played Grand Theft Auto.

Speaker 7 (06:13):
Yeah, yeah, she talks about his podcast a little shout out.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Actually good good for him.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
Hey, thirty years from its original release, Oasis is dropping
a special Delexe version of What's the Story Morning Glory

Speaker 6 (06:32):

also to commemorate their sold out reunion tour, they're doing
this massive, for lack of better terms, scrap book.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
It's a book shots photos of.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
The Alder tours and the first side by side picks
of the two.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Brothers in aegis I mean Oasis putting on an album.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I mean it's old stuff, but putting on an album
on the day that Taylor Swift puts.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Out an album both they know what they're doing. And
The Wiggles put on an album today. Yeah, what's the
best song from that Wiggles? No, not the Wiggles from
Morning Glory? The acoustic version is pretty great. She's electric
with my personal favorite from that album. Oh yeah, yeah,
I thought that was the best one, not the most popular.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
Those are Houston's headlines taking Alex.

Speaker 10 (07:22):
There were three winner take all game threes in the
MLB Wildcard playoffs yesterday. The Tigers beat the Guardians and

All four series are going to play game one on
Thursday Night Football. The forty nine Ers got by the
Rams twenty six to twenty three in overtime. Rams are
running the ball in at about the one yard line

(07:43):
at the end of the game to win it got
the ball punched out. Forty nine Ers won in an overtime,
pretty insane game. LA's Matt Stafford three for three touchdowns
and that one. Textans are going to look to win
their second straight game on Sunday and then play the
Ravens up in Baltimore. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected
to miss the game with a hamstring injury, which means
it'll be Cooper.

up there?

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I haven't seen him in a long time.

Speaker 9 (09:29):
I actually went to high school with him.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
Okay, shut your mouth, shut your mouth. Where where is TVG?
Where is Travis? No clue he nobody does, nobody does.
He was the first sports guy when I got here
twenty almost twenty two years ago. Travis was the guy
that I was like assigned and the most the weirdest

(09:53):
dude ever. Do you agree with me on that odd,
odd dude, brilliant fellow.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Just was just such a unique character.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
And every now and then I run into people that
know him, and I haven't talked to him. I wanted
him to come to the twentieth anniversary. I had no
way of getting a hold of him or anything.

Speaker 13 (10:12):
Yeah, I heard you guys talking about it on the show.

Speaker 3 (10:14):

The good dude? He left here?

Speaker 5 (10:33):
He became a merchant marine, he became a dispatcher for police.
He he's on a shrimp boat, or he lived on
a boat. He was a train conductor. I mean these
are all he was forced gump like.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Those are in the CIA.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
That's where I was kind of following him. And then
the last time he was a merchant marine. He was
driving a dune buggy and living on a boat.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
And you can't find it anywhere.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
He's living on a boat. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
I don't don't know the address. I don't know what
Donkey's on. You know what I mean, Like what slip
I don't have the slip number.

Speaker 3 (11:06):

mean the high will be ninety still but mostly sunny
with low chances of rain.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
I don't want to hear droughts. I don't want to
hear any of that.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
I'll water, I'll bust out the hose and I'll do
some water. All right, all right, I can't wait to
talk about the lunch. Thank you guys so much. But
we're not done. We're gonna yeah, we'll reflect on how

Speaker 6 (12:32):
You haven't done it yet, Oh, what do you even
do it?

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Keep talking?

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Do we even do it?

Speaker 9 (12:37):
Well?

Speaker 3 (12:37):
No, I'll do it fancy lunches all the time. I'll
just do it all day on Saturday. Oh wait a minute,
I can't do it all day Saturday because we got
a car show on all right. What's trending Taytay? Obviously
the Life of a show Girl came out at midnight.
Everybody's talking about it.

Speaker 10 (12:53):
Honestly, like the first like nine things on Google trends
are related to her, whether or not it be lyrics
what her father figure mentioned was and Elizabeth Taylor, she
says something about, oh no, like people are trying to
decipher what all the stuff means already.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
So Taylor Swift is trending. Chevron fire is trending. A
massive fire.

Speaker 10 (13:14):
Up did at a jet fuel unit at their La refinery.
And that's pretty crazy right now that people are talking about.
And then Thursday night Football crazy. Ending to the Thursday
night football game, they punched out a ball and the
goal line forty nine ers come back and win in overtime.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
That is what's trending. Ninety for five of the bus.

Speaker 11 (13:32):
Two day Champion man, Hey.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Hey, hey, whoa he's gonna start in the middle of
the speech. Yeah, but it does it cut out? All right,
let's see if it's there.

Speaker 11 (13:43):
All right, Good morning, Houston.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
You're fresh out of bed.

Speaker 9 (13:47):

think I did it today.

three bitches.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
All right, thank you if you want to take him
on seven one, three, two four five, it's free beer.

Speaker 16 (14:03):
Friday, The Ron Ryan Show on ninety four five, The Buzz.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Ninety four to five The Buzz. That's Paramore and Misery Business. Now,
Haley is on the music blog page. I don't know
if you're getting into this, but you don't.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Have to dissect her lyrics on your own. They'll tell Yeah,
she was asked about she you know, she put out
a solo album and then didn't she put out like
hair coloring and blah blah blah. She's visits. She's an entrepreneur.
But in one of.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Her songs, it mentions a racist country singer and she has.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
No problem telling you exactly who she's talking about. And
I think you can probably figure that one out on
your own, but she is backing it up on who
it is who you think it is?

Speaker 5 (14:46):
So I know most talking about that coming up with
a music story, and that's on the music blog page today.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Mostly sunny skies, ten percent chance of rain.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Highs of around ninety one. That's your forecast for the
whole weekend. Let's play a game, and each time.

Speaker 16 (15:01):
For the fresh out of bed head to head challenge.
Listeners to New York Corners Jonathan.

Speaker 9 (15:09):
Good morning brother, Uh, good.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Morning, bro. You've been a bit of a rocky ride,
haven't you.

Speaker 9 (15:15):
Oh you're brother?

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Okay, as long as you agree, listen, you're only going
for win number three. Feels like you've been around for
a while here. But am I correct? This is game three?

that's what you need, because those were definitely that was
me doing the question a little different now, And I
was getting a lot of help too from listeners. They
were helping me out quite a bit. I appreciate it.

Speaker 15 (16:05):
We'll see.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Maybe the mo era is what you need. Nick, Okay,
all right, let's try it. Shout out your name when
you think you know the answer. You need two correct
answers to win this.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
Four pack of tickets with pit passes to Monster Jams
October eighteenth, Energy Stadium.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Here we go.

Speaker 5 (16:20):

in the prize.

Speaker 6 (16:26):

Speaker 5 (16:26):
All right, Jonathan and Nick, shout out your name when
you think you know the answer. Everything that I said

with this question. I'm ready hang in there with me, fellas, Nick, Jonathan.

then turn yourself around, that's what it's blank, John, John,

(17:05):

Speaker 6 (17:12):
I don't know if I got more pleasure out of
the guys buzzing in? Or you happen to.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Interesting is one word?

Speaker 6 (17:26):
Jonathan, Nick?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
How did you not get that one?

Speaker 6 (17:29):
He knew? He knew?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, all right, Well let's see if it gets better, Nick,
Jonathan shut out your name? When you think you know
the answer? What letter is after the letter b in? Buzz? Nick?

(17:53):
I show me an eye?

Speaker 5 (18:00):
No, I don't know that, Nick heard me properly, Jonathan.
I'm apologizing to the world. What letter here? The whole
question out, Jonathan?

Speaker 3 (18:10):

I yelled my name while you were still talking and
not heard bird.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Okay, okay, okay, okay.

needed to know where your headspace was, Nick.

You're going to come back. But if you change your mind,
you don't want to do this anymore, no one's gonna
question you.

Speaker 14 (19:15):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
You say that. Now when you talk to your family
it may go differently. But you didn't score Monster Jam tickets.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
He's really excited. He's got a seven year old that's
never been to Monster Jam. So I know most of
you don't.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Play fresh out of bed. Had to head for the prizes.
You just want to win. You want to win, You want.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
The status, the fame that comes.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
Along with it, you know, and you want to win
that five those five games to get in the Hall
of Fame. But he's super super excited about those tickets.
So whoever put those.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
In there, CHILEI thank you. He's really really excited about that. Yeah, Monster,
I'm coming up in a couple of weeks, man, so
you can still get your tickets.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
The biggest question that I got yesterday out at the
T shirt sales, are you doing the cheap ticket sale.
The answer is yes, I don't know the when, but
I'm going to have to present it differently too. I'm
not allowed to call them nine dollars and forty five
cent tickets, right because Ticketmaster now come they've come forward
with and it's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
They have to have that all in pricing.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
So all of those fees and everything, those were always there,
but I didn't have.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
To mention them in years past. I would.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
I'd say, listen, the price that we got on the
tickets is nine dollars and forty five cents. Then when
ticket Monster gets a hold of you, they're going to
put processing fees and all these other things. Now they
can't do that afterwards. So if I announced the ticket,
it may be like a twenty dollars ticket, which is
still discounted. It is a nine dollars and forty five

(21:54):
cent ticket, but it's the all in price.

Speaker 9 (21:56):
With all the other.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Fail Yeah crap, still a deal attached to it. So
I'm doing it. It's just gonna sound a little different.

Speaker 19 (22:04):
It's the fuck back to the day we make you
look smart, your buddies, the FU back to the day.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
All right, some fun facts.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Most sit on another great ticket for you in home.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
Room, Alice Cooper, Judas Prie.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah, there's Captain Cash. You look tired, dude. You were
up all night listening to Taylor Swift. You wait until
midnight and then downloaded it? And then how many times
did you make it through the football game and just
just had that album on all night? Why not? How
you like Taylor Swift's you know it's a show girl?
You know? Mundo did stay up till midnight?

Speaker 7 (22:46):
Yeah, and he said, technically came out at eleven pm. Okay,
you had an extra hour. He sent us a full review.
There's a Taylor Swift link up today. Yes, thank you, Mundo.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Here we go. Alcohol consumption, boy, this.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Has talked about a lot, how it's declining here in
the United States.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Younger people just you know, it's not a bad thing.
They're just drinking. Yeah, Alex is keeping it going. Don't worry.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
His flag is still flying over there. Alcohol consumption has
declined throughout this country over the past decade. In fact,
only one state reports an increase in drinking over the
past ten years, and that state is Tennessee.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Okay, there's a lot going on in Tennessee. Hey, the
Guinness Book of World Records is in the Guinness Book
of World Records. That is.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Whoa, It's the best selling copyrighted book series of all time.
The Guinness Book of World Records in the Guinness.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Book of World Records. Finally, bad news.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
I don't know if you guys. Maybe a side gig
going on, but technically it.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Is illegal to mail used underwear to people that purchased them.
Now what I reared out? Somebody maybe somebody maybe that
knows the history of this show. I think we tried
to do this. I'm not even going to say the

(24:22):
co host because I don't want her to get upset.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
But again, it was innocent enough. But I don't think
they were technically laundered before we mailed them. And I
think we broke the law even back then mailing indecent
and filthy substances.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Federal law bans that. Okay, you could can you buy bathwater?
You know what? How did they get away with Sydney
Sweeney's bathwater?

Speaker 16 (24:48):
Right?

Speaker 3 (24:48):
I don't think it's selfe right, but some people might
say that. I think it's decent and awesome. Healthy is
in the eye of the beholder. I think it's the
complete opposite of indecent infilt.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
That's what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Well, you could get up five years in prison. I'm
just saying, it's the fun. Worth it.

Speaker 19 (25:03):
Back to the day. We make you look smart and funny,
your buddies, it's the fun, back.

Speaker 8 (25:08):
To the day.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
I wonder if that person that bought this co host panties,
I wonder if they're still listening Life of the Showgirl.
There there's Hall again. Just oh up all night listening
here out of his head? What are you giving away?

Speaker 6 (25:23):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (25:24):
Alice Cooper Judas Priest tickets October twenty sixth in the Woodlands.
Tickets are on sale ticketmaster dot com or they can
be yours if you know the splashback.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
It's your fun. Okay, what did we get into yesterday?

Speaker 9 (25:37):
Here? Hello?

Speaker 3 (25:40):
You know what?

Speaker 5 (25:42):
There was a famous Canadian hunter, old Francis Warden, shot
a deer in the late sixties, but he didn't have something,
so he borrowed.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Something from what he shot. I'll leave it at that.
That's yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:04):
Francis Wharton was missing something, so he needed to take
it from the animal. That he killed seven one, three,
two and two five nine four five.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
Now time for rockout with your stock out with Captain Cash. Hi,
Captain Cash, Hey, brother Rod, So, I mean, what would
your rating like Chili? When Chili rates a movie, it's like,
it's what do we say? It was Chimmy Changa's or
tacos or Chia's burritos? What was his rating on things?
Guatemal on dollars?

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Well, so yours would be like money clips? She gets
ah five five money clips would be the best.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
What will you give? What would you give Taylors?

Speaker 20 (26:42):
He gets her favorite number, thirteen money clips.

Speaker 3 (26:45):

Speaker 3 (28:09):
High Oscar, it's your fun.

Speaker 5 (28:15):
Okay, should be awake now, Hey, Oscar a famous Canadian hunter.
Everybody now knows Francis Wharton. Uh, he shot a deer
in the late nineteen sixties. But Francis didn't have something
and he borrowed it from the deer.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
What didn't he have, Well, you didn't.

Speaker 12 (28:34):
Have no teeth, so he made ventures that he didn't
wind up eating the deer.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
We're just one. He made dentures out of the teeth
from the deer, and he used those teeth to eat
the deer. I don't know what kind of sick world
they're living it up there, but it's not my world.
It's not my world.

Speaker 6 (28:51):
American.

Oh many winner, Oscar? You won? What do you.

Speaker 20 (29:04):
I love you got fun back to the day every

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Yeah, I write them down on the phone.

or five The Buzz, Good Morning, Ron Ryan's show, Free
Beer Friday. Thank you Specs. We'll get to another case
of your courtesy of them coming up in just a
little bit.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Cage's the Elephant. They're kind of slipping away. Mo and
I were talking about this. You know, they're playing I
think they're on a cl so they were allowed to
kind of slip over here and kind of get in
a little show for us at the Nothing Little About
It seven one three Music Hall. But they're playing October sixth,
So we've got tickets to Cage's the Elephant coming your
way at closer to around seven twenty.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Well, I know you're talking. I know you're kind of
starting with the weather. I see it's going to be sunny, dry,
let's go, let's go. Yeah, what do you got for
hughes sadlines?

Speaker 7 (30:00):
I know we're so waiting for falling the weather Department,
it feels more like August than October. Plenty of sunshine,
afternoon heat running well above normal. Humidity is stand down
that's great news, right, dry upper seventies for our morning.
Air quality is still an issue, a high allergy alert still.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
An issue, very slim odd chance for rain.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
But you sound a lot better.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
I don't know if you were to clear up. Yeah,
we were inside yesterday, so that helps.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
But you're one of these like maybe we don't know
we even you know webmded it right, maybe late in
life allergies.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
Allergies. What was it Ragley that was super high this week?

Speaker 9 (30:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (30:38):
Yeah, I feel so much better. I'm going to get
outside this weekend though, you have to, all right. Texas
Governor Greg Abbott announced earlier this week that he's launching
a new violent crime task Force in Houston and Harris County,
and he acknowledged that violent crime in Houston is already
down twenty two percent compared to last year, but stressed
so there's obviously more work to be done. So this

(31:01):
task force, involving multiple agencies, will bring DPS, special agents,
Texas Rangers, some aircraft units to the Houston area to support.

Speaker 6 (31:10):
The folks we already have working really hard well.

Speaker 7 (31:12):
Yesterday, Houston Mayor Whitmeyer spoke saying the city has already
been collaborating since he took office. Obviously his major goal
is to make Houston a safer city, but he did
add that his task force is not only going to
bring personnel, but also some forensic science and investigative tools
that HBD does.

Speaker 6 (31:29):
Not currently have, which is great news.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Can we get people patrolling the buyou a little bit?
That seems to be a problem and new number.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
I know we talked about like six being recent, but
it's twenty two bodies.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Over the year on the year the buyo.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
Yes, okay, Rod, I need you to get it together
when it comes to the Halloween Department place.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
Well, if we could stop scheduling events, I could maybe
do some decorating at my house.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
So what's the plan on Sunday? I guess So, Yeah,
you got to go to the storage unit.

Speaker 7 (31:56):
You got to unpack the entire thing, and it's time
to put up those decks creations for Halloween.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Yeah, because I celebrate Halloween, you do you decorate it all? Like,
I know you're not into the ghouls and you don't
want zombies and.

Speaker 7 (32:07):
Stuff, but we have Halloween decorations. Yeah, fall more fall,
more fall stuff.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Yah, pumpkins, but the kids want to get they want to,
They want to dress up.

Speaker 6 (32:16):
Sailor wants to be a witch this year, but she
could be a good witch. No, she wants to be
Alphaba from Wickeds.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
That's the green one, the green one, okay, but that's
still I mean, don't they put a good spin on that?

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Now?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
And wicked bad one.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
She's the bad of the two.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
She's the bad of the two.

Speaker 6 (32:30):
But bad quote unquote bad. She's trying to do good, Okay.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
An early Halloween poll found that seventy nine percent of
adults plan to celebrate this year. And that doesn't necessarily
mean dressing up. It means the things we're doing for
our kiddos. And by doing I am seeing these spending
numbers for Halloween.

Speaker 6 (32:48):
It is expensive.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Did you guys get your candy from Oil and Gas? Greg?
He brought candy for everybody bars.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
It was so sweet.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Got me a heap bar. Nice.

Speaker 7 (32:56):
It is suggested that you buy your candy in bulk
this year as a money saving strategy.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
Everybody buys their candy and pulse. Everybody buys Use, everybody
buys use a big Walmart bags.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
Yes, maybe go to the Costco if you will. It
is getting a lot more expensive on average parents. So
if you have kiddos six hundred and fifty two dollars
for the holiday.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Oh y'all smoke that? Yeah, yeah, my candy Budge, it'll
be five hundred.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
It's a lot of kiddos in your neighborhood.

Speaker 7 (33:24):
It's a big day for Diddy. I think they're calling
it his day of reckoning today's sentencing hearing. Did you
decided to do something before his sentence in hearing today,
he decided to write a letter telling the judge in
his case he's sorry for all the hurt and pain he's.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Caused others because of his actions.

Speaker 7 (33:42):
He filed a four late page letter yesterday, beginning with
the apology, admitting the last two years have been the
hardest of his life and saying, there's no one to
blame for my current reality and situation but myself.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
His hearing. Sentencing hearing is set to begin.

Speaker 7 (33:56):
At eight thirty Houston time, So prosecutors are asking the
judge to send Diddy away for more than eleven more years.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
He won't get that.

Speaker 6 (34:04):
He could walk free today, right.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
He absolutely could, and there's a good chance time served.
Diddi's out, all right.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
I'll keep you posted as I watched the updates, did
you see.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
That he was teaching a business course in prison in
prison this past year. I did not say that you
could go take a class making the band that he
was teaching.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
Prison, or what if it was just like, okay, let's
just use a made up product like usually you use
like a widget, right, His could have been like, let's
just use I don't know, lubeame the oil.

Speaker 6 (34:34):
I cannot all right.

Speaker 7 (34:35):
It's been a little over a month since Halu Williams
from Pairmore released her solo album, It's called Ego Death
at a bachelorette party, and she finally admitted in an
interview that she did take a shot at one of
the most popular country.

Speaker 6 (34:48):
Music stars, the biggest one out there right now.

Speaker 7 (34:51):
In the song, she sings, quote, I'll be the biggest
star in this racist.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
Country singers bar. She said, I'm always talking about Morgan
Wallen when I sing those lyrics.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
It's funny.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
Normally when an artist has asked something very specific, they're like, well,
i'll leave that up to you.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
She's like, no, I'll tell you who I'm talking about.

Speaker 10 (35:10):
Morgan has had like four or five instances where he
said certain words he shouldn't say, right, it hasn't.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
Affected him one derogatory slur outside of his home. In
twenty twenty one, he apologized it did not affect his
popularity with his fans.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
He got him, They didn't want him hosting SNL right.

Speaker 7 (35:28):
Afterwards, Right, he was quote unquote canceled on radio for
a little while.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
But yeah, but then it's just okay, he paid his dues,
I guess and then he came back. It's just it's wild.
It's wild.

Speaker 6 (35:39):
Those are Houston's headlines yesterday.

Speaker 8 (35:41):
Is that who?

Speaker 5 (35:42):
We had the body cam footage up on the Crazy
Criminal blog page of him throwing the chair.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
We did even know, he said he didn't.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (35:51):

it was not enough. Sections are going to look to

the Ravens up in Baltimore. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is

(36:26):

Detroit alone, just by like what his numbers where you're at.

Speaker 5 (41:39):
So I'd like to talk a little bit about that.
Maybe Alex will find a piece of music that would
accompany that.

Speaker 3 (41:44):

I say yes.

Speaker 3 (43:48):

at the lyrics. Just tell me the name of the song,
would okay? That's Travis Kelsey's ding dong? Would okay?

Speaker 9 (43:57):
Like?

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Did you for your dudes hacking that much? Do you
really need to write a whole like write a whole
song about her. Seem like maybe like over compensation.

Speaker 6 (44:04):
Nope, I think you go for it.

Speaker 5 (44:06):
That other one too. The what's the all about the
bass Gal Megan Trainer. Yeah, she's always.

Speaker 3 (44:11):
Talking about her dues Wiener really Yeah, apparently the Spike Kids,
the Spike Kid. Yeah, apparently he's got a prigle come
on that he's dealing with. Yeah, she's dealing She's dealing
with she talks about that. Okay, we're going to dissect.
So yeah, Taylor's first new album is what I was
talking about this morning. MLB playoffs are also trending.

Speaker 10 (44:32):
The Cubs, Taggers, and Yankees advanced yesterday, so people were
talking about that. The divisional round of the playoffs starts tomorrow,
and then El Capitan is trending. The mountain at Yosemite,
a twenty three year old climber fell and.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
Died while trying to climb the mountain. I guess yesterday
people are talking about that hole. That is just trending.
On ninety five, the Buzz got some tickets to give away.

Speaker 6 (44:57):
I do cage the Elephant? Is it seven one three
Music call on Monday?

Speaker 7 (45:01):
Yeah, a few tickets last Ticketmaster dot com we'd love
to have you at that show. All you gotta do
is we call her ten seven one three two one

Speaker 3 (45:14):
Coming up, while you're duttling for those tickets, I'm gonna
talk to you about the fifty jump trend. I asked
Alex if he had something to get us excited about this, uh,
this new health hack that's going around on TikTok. He
suggested this right here. Hey, you can get in fifty
jumps right now with us. Here's House of Pain ninety

(45:35):
four the buzz. Oh yeah, House of Pain jump around
ninety four or five the buzz. Good morning rod Ryan's show.

Speaker 6 (45:46):
Thank you so much for jumping around with us on
this three beer Friday.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
Sorry, uh, Pete, what happened sake? Brother rod Pringle can
really thanks for making school drop off super awkward?

Speaker 6 (46:01):
Your prinkles in your lunch today.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
That's why I said.

Speaker 5 (46:05):
I was thinking about the little the young people listening now,
and I said, Okay, we'll talk about that Taylor.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Swift song that I have questions about.

Speaker 6 (46:13):
And we're going to get deeper into it later.

Speaker 5 (46:16):
Really, so you're just gonna say stuff like that, We're
gonna go deep into that song.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
That's exactly how I heard that that Pete. Listen, Dad,
That's why I said.

Speaker 5 (46:28):
I didn't mean, okay, the Pringle camp thing that's on me,
but I just said that we I said, we will,
we will talk about.

Speaker 3 (46:35):
Something, pick of Alex. We'll talk about the Taylor Swift
songs after eight o'clock. That's why we're just discussing the news.
We're just discussing the hottest topics out there right now.
Are talking about trend. We'll talk about it after eight
and hopefully the kids will be in school. And then

(46:56):
wed lyrics as the eighth thing on Google traps. Oh godness,
all right, people talking about Sorry, good morning, rod Ryan's
show would work? Brother rod Hi? Who's this?

Speaker 9 (47:12):
This is Jason? How are you?

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Jason? I'm doing great? I really am. How's your day
going so far? I have a feeling it's about to
go better. Oh yeah, you call her tech. I love that.

Speaker 11 (47:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
Yeah, let's go, baby, let go Yeah, caller ten gets what.

Speaker 7 (47:27):
I hope you're prepared, Jason, because Monday night seven one
three Music Hall, it's Cage to the Elephant.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
And you come on. I am so prepared.

Speaker 9 (47:36):
Thank you. Guys.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
Have you seen them Life go. Have you seen them Life? No,
I haven't, but.

Speaker 17 (47:41):
I'm going to see Fantagram tonight, so I'll back door
it on Monday with KG Jellophane.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
Bump you a good life. I know that the guys
have to be feeling good.

Speaker 5 (47:50):
They did the North American leg of the Oasis tour
and when I saw them open up, I couldn't believe
the energy and what they were doing. And I'm sure
they got to be riding that high. I'm telling you,
these guys are at the peak of their game right now.
Case the Elephant is one of the premiere live acts,
and that lead vocalist is like he's he's gonna go

(48:10):
down as one of the all time.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
He's such a great front man.

Speaker 5 (48:13):
And you know you're gonna tell you get back to me,
tell me if you think, well, he borrows a little
bit maybe from Iggy Pop, and he borrows from Mick
Jagger and maybe a little Tyler, like he's borrowing from
all the greats. I mean, if you're gonna borrow, borrow
from the best of the business, you know what I mean.
And he's that kind He's that kind of front man.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
Absolutely, I'll bet seeing him in Mexico City was amazing.
It was it was crazy. It was crazy. But seeing
them at seven pe and three Music Hall, that stage
is a little bit it's a little bit more intimate.

Speaker 5 (48:43):
It's gonna be brazy. Jason, have a great time, have
an awesome weekend.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
Okay, I will thank you guys, and you'll have a
good weekend. Thank you you too.

Speaker 5 (48:50):
We can't stop jumping on this show. We can't stop jumping,
can't stop, won't stop. This is what the kids are
doing right now.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
Oh speaking.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
Can imagine if you're a football player right now and
your jersey number is six seven, six seven. So Mom
heard about it on the show yesterday and she said
it just occurred to me. Laurie sends me an email.
She's like, oh my god, I heard what you were saying.
And I've heard kids say six seven, but I didn't
put it together. Her son is sixty seven?

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Is he alignman? Because he's a lineman. Sometimes he's a
big dude. He's a big dude.

Speaker 5 (49:30):
I know you all talked about this yesterday, but I
was at my son's football game last night and it
just hit me what you guys were talking.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
About is number is sixty seven. So I thought I
would yell.

Speaker 5 (49:37):
It out a couple of times at the games. Kids
were losing their mind like she was the coolest mom.
She was the absolute coolest mom. She goes anyway, That's
when it hit me.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
Six seven. You guys were talking about that on the
show yesterday.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
So shout out to Legend Weston McClain, sixty seven, grand
Oaks Grizzlies. What if you are number sixty seven right now? Wow,
there's not a better. There's not a better two digits
to be on your jersey. There's not And then moms
looks cool because she's yelling it out. So kids, six seven,
they're also doing the fifty jump trend.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
We could all do this.

Speaker 6 (50:13):
Okay, what is it?

Speaker 5 (50:14):
So the idea is pretty simple. The minute you get
out of bed, you jump in place fifty times.

Speaker 6 (50:21):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
That's it. That's the whole trend.

Speaker 5 (50:25):
It's supposed to be a quick way to increase your
heart rate, get the blood flowing, which gets oxygen to
your brain, first thing after waking up, and if you're
not in the habit of exercising, it's something. It's quick,
it's easy, and they say everybody can do this and
you're more likely to follow through with it if it's
what quick and easy. Yeah, yeah, they say the benefits
of this is great. It doesn't involve putting on shoes

(50:46):
or going outside or getting equipment.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Is it effective?

Speaker 5 (50:50):
One specialist weight in to say that the movement is movement,
and in general, movement is always going to be good
for us.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
Are you going to get ripped.

Speaker 5 (50:57):
Jumping up and down fifty times after you wake up?
Alex said, maybe maybe you might, so I don't. I
don't think you're gonna get shredded. No, there's nothing wrong
with getting the blood pumping the first thing in the
morning on TikTok. Right now, the fifty jump trend is
what people are doing. So rod Ryan Show keeping you

(51:20):
off at TikTok, just telling you what they're doing so
you don't have to sit through all that sludge.

Speaker 16 (51:24):
It's free beer Friday, Friday, a rod Ryan Show on
ninety four, five.

Speaker 9 (51:30):
The Buzz.

Speaker 3 (51:33):

Speaker 5 (51:36):
That's ten years and conquered Divide with the Optimist. We
were jumping around before that. Good morning, Thank you so
much for starting your day with us. It's seven thirty
five it's free beer Friday, so another case.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
Of beer coming your way. At eight o'clock. You still
get another like regularly scheduled hour.

Speaker 5 (51:54):
I guess we're gonna get into some I think you're
gonna want to be around for the suit like. I
don't want it to sound like a who out like Oh,
Rod's gonna be talking about the Taylor Swift album. We're
gonna be talking about a song on her album that
was released at eleven o'clock last night. The song is
called Wood. And then they're gonna try to convince me.
Alex has already looked at the lyrics. MO has already

(52:15):
been through these lyrics several times. They're gonna try to
convince me what to tell me what this song is about. Yes,
the song is called Wood on the album. Okay, so
it won't be a tune out, trust me. I got
to see their daughtery peod tickets for you next hour,
and then of course the last hour the show is
gonna be open phones, so we get to get you
guys on the air. Chance of rain, nothing over that.

(52:38):
That's all weekend, okay, mostly sunny all weekend, seventies in
the morning, we will get up to ninety each day,
but humidity is down. So if you're gonna get outside,
get after it a little bit.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Maybe you wanted to come to a car show, I
have something for you on that.

Speaker 5 (53:02):
We're gonna be out tomorrow, the fifth annual Boobs Rock
Car Show at Nankuso Harley Davidson Crossroads nine to two
is like the window. Find a sweet spot somewhere in there.
Bring the whole family out. It's free. It's free. There's
just come on out and hang with us. If you
wanted to get your vehicle in there, what did Sean say?

(53:23):
Anything with wheels? Anything with wheels. Vehicle registration is thirty
dollars per vehicle on hundred percent of the proceed's benefit

cancer research at MD Anderson.

Speaker 3 (53:56):

So beautiful and everyone that had it it was loving it.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
Yeah, so I was doing an unletted one.

Speaker 5 (54:47):
They got a pink drink at all the Willies Grill
and Ice House locations all month long and you can
you can go it the pink drink. They'll know what
it is and they'll know what you're talking about. You
can get it as a mocktail, which is what I
was drinking. Then caller number ten handed me one man

Speaker 3 (55:08):
Okay, I'm like, whoa, so yeah, and it adapts itself
beautifully to putting a little alcohol in there. But we

the very first time and I got a really nice
email and I wanted to share this with you because
you just you don't You never know in this.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
There's there's something to this. You don't know who you're
going to meet, or you don't know when your paths
are going across down the road. You just don't know.

Speaker 5 (56:03):
Shane sends me a beautiful email yesterday. He said, good afternoon, Rod,
longtime listener. I've been listening since two thousand and seven.
I'm like, thank you, that's all you have to say.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
Thank you. I'm so appreciative of that.

Speaker 5 (56:13):
But now I'm excited to be a sponsor of your
Boobs Rock Golf tournament. So he when we met, when
he started listening to the show, he wasn't doing this,
but now he's doing something, and now he can even get.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
More involved in the show.

Speaker 5 (56:26):
He said, if you go back about ten years, Rod,
my family and I we won Monster Jam tickets from
you guys. And as a matter of fact, when we
went to Monster Jam, we got to ride in an
elevator with Dinah.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
They said, May she rest in peace. My daughters were
so ecstatic to be in the elevator with the What's
in the Box girl? What's in the Box?

Speaker 5 (56:51):
So Dinah was shocked that the kids listened to the show.
So thank you for an awesome show over the years.
You got a great crew with Alex P.

Speaker 3 (56:59):

Speaker 5 (57:01):
We will be at a par three at your event
giving away prizes, including a lithium powered golf cart.

They have a.

Speaker 5 (57:11):
Hole in one situation going on, so he said, thanks
for the opportunity. We'll see you guys out there on Tuesday.
That's Shane Henderson from the Golf Carts that's going to
be one of our hole in one sponsors. Way, And
I don't think he was doing this back then, but
he just he remembered that moment of his kids meeting
Dinah and him winning Monster Jam tickets from us.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Like ten years ago.

Speaker 6 (57:35):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (57:36):
And now he's like, you know what, now I'm able
to come in and do some things and he's going
to be a sponsor of one of our holes. And
then I did want to shout out just last minute
because they came in Centergenics. My friends over there, I've
been working with these guys forever and I'm a better
late than never guy.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
They are in.

Speaker 5 (57:50):
They are in as a sponsor. So thank you to
everybody over at Center Genics. I love the fact that
you guys are going to be out there reppin. And
I think he got a pretty captive audience for what
you guys do.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
You over there at the Center Jenics and low T Center.

Speaker 6 (58:02):
So some time to jump in and sponsor.

Speaker 3 (58:04):
Yeah, I mean the Center. Genics came in yesterday. Okay,

Speaker 5 (58:44):
See their Daughtry pod tickets coming your way. And then
Travis Kelsey's Wiener everything, all that.

Speaker 6 (58:50):
And more Happy Friday.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
In the eight o'clock hour, got a guy said, yeah,
saw the song solve the lyrics sounds like Kelsey's got
a fence pull. I'm like, all right, I'll leave it
at that. Some guy said, why are you talking about
Taylor Swift?

Speaker 9 (59:08):
Rod?

Speaker 5 (59:09):
You clearly don't play them, And I understand that, and
I just I emailed them back, and I don't I
don't ever get upset about anything like that.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
I just said, it's big.

Speaker 5 (59:16):
It's just it's it's pop culture, it's in it's it's
it's it's a going on thing in the world. And
there's not another artist that's going to get a line
of people out at midnight waiting for a CD or
an album release. These days, it just doesn't happen anymore.
And she's just above and beyond everything.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
You don't have to like it.

Speaker 6 (59:36):
You don't have to like it, but you can't fascinated.

Speaker 5 (59:39):
You can't deny that it's happening. As a matter of fact,
I don't find you to be a huge fan of hers,
but you just.

Speaker 9 (59:45):
Know the.

Speaker 5 (59:46):
With the massiveness of it, and that's what we do here.
We talk about things that are going on in the world.
So yeah, he's scratching his head. He's like, I can't
believe you're talking about Taylor Swift. I'm like, I feel
silly not talking about it coming out last night. It's
the top trending thing. I know there's more important things.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
In the world, but it's big. Yeah, let's go. What's
what do you got for Houston's headlines?

Speaker 7 (01:00:12):
Awesome weekend Rod, It's going to feel more like August
than October. Plenty of sun, jine, afternoon heat running well
above normal for our Friday and through the weekend, dry
upper seventies for our morning. Perfect day for I don't know,
a car show tomorrow. Are you feeling down? Very very
slim chance of rain? We do need the rain, so

(01:00:33):
let's work at maybe a little bit of a chance
at the beginning of next week.

Speaker 6 (01:00:37):
Until then, get outside.

Speaker 8 (01:00:39):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (01:00:39):
Six workers were injured in an explosion involving water heaters
at a hotel that was under construction in downtown Houston
yesterday and it's still hurting us today. Houston Fire Department
said the incident occurred at the Holiday and Express that's
under construction. It's one right there at Texas Avenue in
Austin Streets. Happened downtown around eleven o'clock yesterday. Six workers
were injured, some of them burned in the face when

(01:01:02):
those tankless water heaters they believe exploded in some capacity.
But the investigation on the structure of the building is continuing.
That's why Texas Avenue from Prairie to Austin Streets remains
closed downtown today. Okay, it seems like everywhere you look,
professional athletes are signing these gigantic new contracts or endorsement deals,

(01:01:23):
and the topic of athlete pay is trending. A lot
of that being surrounding the WNBA and the overseas sports
leagues that are trying to pay our athletes a lot
of money to go play for them.

Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
The first athlete to make a million dollars a year
in salary? Anybody know I remember talking about this. No,
it's a hockey player, Wayne Bobby Hole. Oh, okay, Bobby Hall,
Brent Hall's dad of all the sports, of all the sports.
I believe he was the first one to sign a

(01:01:55):
million dollar contract. I don't know if long long term contact, Yeah,
I don't know. If it was just for one YEARL
do like a ten year deal? What kind of spread
you out like that? Most leagues don't do that.

Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
Yeah, But nobody had that million dollar figure on a
piece of paper with their signature on it.

Speaker 6 (01:02:11):
Was that in the nineties or the eighties.

Speaker 5 (01:02:13):
Oh, it might have been early eighties. Okay, it might
have been early eighties, could have been late seventies.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
I've looked that up. Wow, But now, I mean, are
you kidding me?

Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
It's insane.

Speaker 7 (01:02:20):
This list of the top ten this year is over
one point four billion dollars, the highest since Forbes has
ever started.

Speaker 6 (01:02:29):
Tracking these figures.

Speaker 7 (01:02:30):
Cristiano Ronaldo number one on the list two hundred and
seventy five million dollars. It's his third consecutive year at
the top, his fifth time he held a position. Steph
Curry's on this list, Tyson, is it Fury or he's
the boxer?

Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Right? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:02:48):
Dak Prescott is number four and Lionel Messi is number five.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Bobby Hole, do you find out what year it was
the first million dollar contract?

Speaker 5 (01:02:57):
Nineteen seventy two, dahn Alex where I over ten years, okay,
but he got a million dollars signing bonus, and that
was the first time I think it was the first
time an athlete has been was handed a million dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
But it wasn't it wasn't a million a year he
was handed ask but he was handed a million dollars
as a bonus. And then it was a two million,
ten year contract because a lot of time the bonuses
cannot be considered salary cap. Yes, so like if they
have a cap that goes against it. And it was
the seventiescod that's twenty yeah, right, can you do anything?

Speaker 6 (01:03:27):
And that number from then to two hundred and seventy
five millions now not.

Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Like a state. It's like Ronaldo money back then.

Speaker 9 (01:03:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:03:34):
Hey, you might try to avoid Taylor Swift, but we've
got to tell you today is Taylor Swift to day.
Her new album The Life of a show Girl dropped
technically at midnight eleven PM, but even before it officially dropped,
fans were dissecting the lyrics, trying to find the beef,
trying to find the tea. And that's where the headlines
are coming from today. Did you see there's a little

(01:03:56):
what they say allegedly her taking shots at Charlie xc Well,
what little I.

Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
Know about Taylor Swift is these crazy fans will go
in and look at and dissect every lyric of every
song and they try to figure out what she's singing about.

Speaker 8 (01:04:13):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
So she's got beef with Charlie XCX.

Speaker 7 (01:04:16):
I mean she is now married to one of Taylor's
exes fantasy. Yes, okay, XCX is married to the drummer
and Taylor's exus, Matt Healey.

Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
Yes, it's interesting.

Speaker 7 (01:04:30):
And then of course I think later we'll have to
discuss the song would which they're also dissecting those lyrics.

Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Fair we decided those already.

Speaker 6 (01:04:39):
They don't need we don't need Taylor fans.

Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
To do it. We can do it. O Hey, we're
Taylor fans.

Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
Now thirty years from its original release. Let's talk about
Oasis because they're dropping a special Delexe version of What's
the Story Morning Glory. It's going to contain remastered classics
as well as a new unplugged version of some of
the tracks.

Speaker 6 (01:04:58):
And Rod, I think you should get the scrap book.

Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
It's a commemorative book just talking about and showing the
photos of their sold out reunion tour, featuring shots of
their first tour in sixteen years.

Speaker 3 (01:05:11):
Okay, so it is an updated book that is out there.

Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
They've got the first side by side pick of Liam
and Noel in aegis, so it's right there in the book.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
You can get it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
It is cool to see those brothers like arm in arm,
after following each other, after following them on social media,
and the and them just being so mean to one
another on social media and so funny and just so
cutting towards one another.

Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
And then when you see them arm in arm. It's
you never thought you were going to see it. Maybe
I will get that book those sad times? All right, Alex,
you ready, yep, but.

Speaker 10 (01:05:49):
You got There are three winner take all game threes
in the MLB Wild Card Playoffs. Yesterday the Tigers beat
the Guardians, Cubs got by the Padres, and the Yankees
shut out the Red Sox.

Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
The Divisional series is going to start tomorrow.

Speaker 10 (01:06:01):
With game one of all four of this series tomorrow,
and on Thursday Night Football, we had the forty nine
Ers got by the Rams in overtime at twenty six
to twenty three. The Texans are gonna look to win
their second straight game on Sunday when they play the
Ravens up in Baltimore. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected
to miss the game with a hamstring injury, so it's
gonna be Cooper Rush that likely starts for Baltimore. Sex's

(01:06:23):
come into this one. It's two and a half point favorites.
Kickoffs at noon. You can watch it on CBS. You
don't ever want an injury usually, but like you want
to kick their ass when the guy's injured. It's their
best player, right, like like, sorry that happened to Lamar,
but we don't.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Feel bad for you. Now we're gonna kick your ass.
Like that's what you want to go in with that mindset?
And does Cooper Rush say, I want the world to
take a look at me. I don't deserve to be
on the bench. Check what I can do. He might
have one of those times out with the Cowboys for
a little bit. I know he's no longer on the Cowboys.
We'll see some no kickoffs at noon. You can watch
it on CBS. Some notable college games in the schedule tomorrow.
UT is gonna play Floorida.

Speaker 10 (01:07:00):
You have Angel host number eleven, Texas Tech, number three,
Miami is going to be at eighteenth rank, Florida State
and number six a n M hosts Mississippi State.

Speaker 15 (01:07:08):
That is what's going on in sports, rock and alternative
FIR Houston, The Rod.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Who's this Spencer? Spencer your caller number ten? All right,
that's what I'm talking about. I like the name Spencer, right.
I always thought if I had a kid, Spencer was
one of my top talk to your things.

Speaker 6 (01:08:55):
Boy or girl. I like it for both.

Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
I haven't even thought about it for a check. Spencer,
cool name, bro? Were you for uh Dickinson? Okay, what
were you gonna say?

Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
Oh no, I'm just not many people have their name.

Speaker 6 (01:09:07):
So he's like, it's a struggling thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
Yeah, oh yeah, I don't need a whole lot of Rodney's.
There's the white Rodney that calls in every now and
then the other white meat mom was the.

Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Last time you ran into a Spencer? Actually graduated one
in high school? So I was in years ago. I
was in a wedding and the two there was another
groomsman named Rodney. Talk about a weird weddings. There was
two Rodney's in the grooms party. Right, So all right, Spencer, listen,
I can tell you're a cool dude already. I'm gonna
give you the third case of beer today. I appreciate

(01:09:42):

I want you to have a great weekend. All right,
thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:09:57):
I like Spencer.

Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
I like Spencer too, you know, just a vibe.

Speaker 8 (01:10:01):
I'm like a cool guy.

Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Do you, guys, ever hear me say anything on this
show where you just say wow, this guy is clearly
operating with peak overall human brain function.

Speaker 9 (01:10:22):
Do you ever hear that?

Speaker 6 (01:10:22):
It's pretty much every day Rod, Like if I'm talking.

Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
About like Travis Kelsey's kickstand and you're like this guy
that said that, wow is just profound. That is the
peak of brain performance.

Speaker 5 (01:10:37):
Because there's a new study in the journal Intelligence about
a metric called the cognitive personality functioning index.

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
I look at everything for the show, guys, there's nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:10:50):
There is no website, there is no periodical, there is
no nothing that I won't look at to try to
bring in stuff for the show.

Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
According to this new study, the.

Speaker 5 (01:10:59):
Overall functioning the human brain reaches its peak between fifty
five and sixty I know.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
You're probably asking yourself, how does this guy do it?
Because this is peak performance right now.

Speaker 6 (01:11:12):
So you're saying, that's how old you are from peak performing? Okay,
I'm in that sweet spot, sweet spot of like the human.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Brain firing at maximum capacity.

Speaker 6 (01:11:24):
Yeah, but it took you that long to get there, right, It's.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
Like nitrous oxide and everything else all firing for I
met it, and then it's all downhill from here though, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The older and.

Speaker 5 (01:11:40):
Wiser thing has a ceiling, apparently the human mind. It
peaks at sixty and then boom, it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Really does go downhill after that.

Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
That's kind of stay.

Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
I thought that was kind of interesting.

Speaker 6 (01:11:50):
It why you can Rod go conquer the world.

Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
And I know there's people thinking quite the opposite, Like Rod,
I've heard what you said on the show before, and
it sounds like there's a few you think cylinders aren't firing.

Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
And I'll agree with you sometimes not all the time,
but sometimes I will agree with you on that.

Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
Coming up, we've got to see their Daughtry pod tickets
and uh, I don't want you to tune out on this.
I want I've asked MO to pull up one of
the Taylor Swift songs.

Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Taylor Swift. You don't have to like her, you don't
have the lover.

Speaker 5 (01:12:25):
You can't deny the impact and how the hugeness of
it there's a song on her album called Wood, and
I'm gonna ask you Mo to read me some lyrics
and then we're going to try to all figure out
what this song could be about.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Yeah, the title is Wood, and we'll go through some
of these lyrics. Okay, So that and we'll get.

Speaker 5 (01:12:47):
You some great concert tickets and we'll find out what's
trending and listen.

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):

Also see their Daughtry pod tickets coming up. Like speaking up,
what's trending? Well, the same day, it's been treading all
morning Taylor Swift. Yeah, well they're not. She talking about
her boyfriend talk or a bunch of other things.

Speaker 10 (01:13:36):
Everybody's deciphering all of the lyrics for all of the
songs that she put out on her newest album, The
Life of a Show Girly, came out at midnight.

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Yeah, it's any other artists, their name would be trending.
Individual songs open lighte Arendship actually romantic, but the line
figure lines of songs are trending. It's just it's insane
that the mania that surrounds this girl, I'm going to
the beach. The bee in beach symbolizes the bee. She

(01:14:07):
got it in eleventh grade and that was mister Smith,
who was her least favorite teacher, and we all know
it's about him and everything she had to go through. Yeah,
it's it's insane how they dissect these things.

Speaker 10 (01:14:20):
It's I mean, you gotta respect the hustle. They spend
a lot of time doing it, all right. What else
Diddy is trending? Oh yeah, his sentencing is today.

Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
Are we gonna find out anything before we leave the show?
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:14:31):
I'm watching it.

Speaker 7 (01:14:31):
It starts at eight thirty in La so yeah, so yeah,
probably not right. Well, it's eight thirty our time when
it starts, so.

Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
Yeah, all celebrities in LA eight thirty Our Time at
nine thirty third time.

Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
And then National Boyfriend Day is trending. Shout out to
all all the boyfriends out there, but his boyfriend Day?
Am I still my wife's boyfriend? I don't know, but
Chili permanent? Definitely bro Brad's boyfriend. So have the flowers
arrived yet? Did you get anything? Did you get him anything? Chilling?

Speaker 9 (01:15:11):

Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
It's like, hey, Chillie is a one way guy. He
just accepts the guck and his will Anderson Jersey. It's red.
I love it. He just receives the flowers. He's not
a flower giver, He's a receiver.

Speaker 11 (01:15:24):
I I'm not gonna ask for anything, but if he
makes it my way, it's welcome.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
You know what I'm saying. Anything's always appreciated by Chili.
Sice to excel shirt everybody. Chili's what they call a

Speaker 7 (01:17:18):
What is this?

Speaker 9 (01:17:21):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
This is that new Taylor Swift song? Which one?

Speaker 12 (01:17:23):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
This one's called the Fate of Ophelia.

Speaker 6 (01:17:28):
On the megaphone?

Speaker 8 (01:17:30):
You want to see me?

Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
People have been up all night. Mundo sent a really
good Mundo. You guys have all heard of him before.
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:17:41):
He came out to the to the sale yesterday. But
he's like the Taylor Swift number one fan. Him and
Deb from BMP. Oh yeah, if you've ever seen those
two talk and I saw I caught a little bit
of yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
I had to get out of there. It's like all
the oxygen in the room was going it was being evaporated.
They're talking about Taylor Swift. They were so excited about
the release of this album. That was last night.

Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
It was eleven o'clock our time. And I'll back it
up by saying that there's just not another artist out
there that number one. She shattered every single record when
it comes to touring. She shattered every money record. She
shatters every album sales record. She went out and made
you guys go out and buy an album that she
had already put out and sold millions of copies of

(01:18:23):
people went out and just bought another copy of it
because she was going to get all the money and
Scooter wasn't going to get money.

Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
I hate that. I know all this.

Speaker 5 (01:18:30):
And then she got the rights back to her albums,
so she made you buy all that stuff for nothing,
and nobody batter than eyelash at it, nobody batter than
I for even two seconds. It's just like, oh, well,
why'd you make us go buy that? Nobody cared. They
just want they want to consume all things Taylor Swift.
Now she put out an album last night. People are
obviously listening to it all night. Lines of people. I

(01:18:54):
guess she's had a deal with Target for a while.
I saw Target stores with lines wrapped around the building.

Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
Yeah, they got this Barkley Orange album.

Speaker 5 (01:19:01):
I hadn't seen anything like this since kids lining up
for the Harry Potter books. Oh that's kind of the
last time I saw this. Mania over like a media
type thing. I imagine there's still some video games Madden.

Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
I remember lying up stop.

Speaker 5 (01:19:17):
But now video games everything is kind of a direct
to consumer. Yeah, that's what I mean. So the thing
that's interesting to me, and I'm sorry to bore you
about Taylor Swift, but people still want the physical copy
of her like you know that. I'm trying and I'm
not really anymore. I'm not buying any more CDs, and
I still love the CD format and young people want

(01:19:42):
the physical copy of either her album on vinyl or CD.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
They want to hold it in their hands.

Speaker 6 (01:19:49):
And she does special stuff to make it more cool.

Speaker 5 (01:19:52):
And that's what I think is a cool throwback of
what she's able to do and how she gets people
excited about her stuff. Now people are dissecting, like we said,
all the lyrics and all the songs. There is a
song on this new album. What is the title of
the song?

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
Would?

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
That's it?

Speaker 6 (01:20:11):
Would?

Speaker 8 (01:20:12):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
Wo? U? L D?

Speaker 12 (01:20:14):
No?

Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
Rodet's wood like could be an oak tree?

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
It could be yeah, okay, so wood is the title
of the song. So here's what I know about Taylor Swift.

Speaker 5 (01:20:27):
Because thank you, Deb gave my daughter a little golden
spine book.

Speaker 6 (01:20:32):
Whatever those golden books are yes, very sweet.

Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
From reading that to my child, I think Taylor Swift
grew up on a Christmas tree farm? Would I be
right on that? Anybody? I've also read this book. We
have this as she did. Are we right on that? Yes?
You are correct. So I'm assuming that that's dad chopping
down Christmas trees and selling them around Christmas time. I'm
assuming that that's what.

Speaker 6 (01:20:54):
The song's about.

Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
Oh great call, You're the best rod?

Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
Why limited knowledge of Taylor Swift? That's what she must
be singing about. It sounds like she had a heck
of a great time on this Christmas tree farm. Maybe
share some of the lyrics with us. The song is
called woods.

Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
Like a Christmas theme song, I would imagine.

Speaker 7 (01:21:11):
Let me start out with just one lyric. Give me
some lyrics, girls, I don't need to catch the bouquet
to know that rock hard is on the way.

Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
Well, that sounds like a wiener Ryan Show listener. Rock
hard has been a very big topic this year. She
says rock hard in the song. In the song, would
hard rock?

Speaker 9 (01:21:33):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (01:21:34):
Hard rock?

Speaker 8 (01:21:34):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
She says, Okay, give me another lyrics because I'm not sure.
I still think it's about the Christmas tree farm.

Speaker 7 (01:21:40):
This one, Okay, redwood tree, it ain't hard to see.
His love was the key that opened my thighs.

Speaker 9 (01:21:49):
WI.

Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
Yeah, that's about Travis Kelsey's Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (01:21:57):
Don't think you can go with Christmas wood.

Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
You know what, Collor the Chief swears. She doesn't even
mask that one at all. She's talking about his womb
brooms split in her thighs.

Speaker 6 (01:22:10):
His love was the key that opened my fuss.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Give me another lyric? You still think it might be
about the Christmas tree, farm the wood.

Speaker 6 (01:22:17):
Listen to this one.

Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
This is the song wood Taylors. Give me another lyric
because I'm not convinced.

Speaker 6 (01:22:23):
New Heights of manhood. I ain't got a knock on wood.
Forgive me. It sounds cocky. He ahmatized me.

Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
Ask me about my winner.

Speaker 6 (01:22:39):
I mean Heights is his podcast? Now listen, I ain't
got a knock on wood.

Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
Travis Kelsey's mom, I feel like I know her because
she's in commercials and she's around all the time. Is yes,
So she's sitting around listening to a song about her
son's she got done. Thank you Donna? Yeah, Donna spat Donna?

Speaker 7 (01:23:02):
Maybe skip number nine. I don't know want to listen
to it even more, I'd be very curious. I have
one more for you, Rob, okay, because I'm not convinced. Okay,
maybe this.

Speaker 6 (01:23:11):
Will do it for you. Baby.

Speaker 7 (01:23:13):
I'll admit I've been a little superstitious. The curse on
me was broken by your magic wand you.

Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
Cute, but you're a nobody.

Speaker 15 (01:23:23):
Come back. I'm not a nobody.

Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
I am a Wen And that could be a Harry
Potter for you.

Speaker 6 (01:23:32):
Oh, silly me, I don't know what I was thinking.

Speaker 11 (01:23:36):
Ah.

Speaker 3 (01:23:36):
That sweet young little girl, Taylor Swift, she all grew
up right before our eyes, singing about Dick. She's growing up.

Speaker 6 (01:23:47):
She is what happens grown up before.

Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
When a man loves woman, that woman loves that man back.
And this is what your kids are listening to.

Speaker 6 (01:23:54):
They were standing in line.

Speaker 8 (01:23:55):
It's targeted.

Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
We're gonna skip this track.

Speaker 6 (01:23:59):
I mean we're gonna listen to it over and over.

Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
We're going to skip this track for sure. Wiener situation
has exploded. Give us some inside stuff on this Wiener deal.
I'm not here to defend winner. Wiener will be beaten
down the size Ginger.

Speaker 7 (01:24:12):
Ask Congressman Wiener how to handle it.

Speaker 21 (01:24:14):
Congressman Wiener comes clean, Anthony Winer packs it in.

Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
Wiener did stand off and take.

Speaker 9 (01:24:19):
The beating.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
So much.

Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
Wiener, Well, if we didn't have a meeting with Radio
Wizard yesterday, we got one.

Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
Now it's ninety four or five, the bus, ninety four
or five, the buzz, Good morning, rod Ryan's show. And
then I hope you're off to a great start to
your day. Thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
We got another case of beer coming your way. And
then it's open phones Friday. You guys can call in,
you can talk about whatever you want. Okay, whatever, and
just about anything goes for that last hour. Okay, we
have mostly Sunday skuys low chances of rain and high
of ninety. It goes in the morning in the seventies
to like right at ninety at peak Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
I wanted to give another shout out.

Speaker 5 (01:25:12):
Listen, shout out to every single person that came out
and joined us at our lunch yesterday. Thank you to
Willie's Grill and ice House. But I thought this was
kind of cool, and I just again, usually I do
have some kind of a you know, like the point
of my head. I usually have some kind of a
thing that I'm getting at when I read some of
these things. Megan sends me a really nice email and

(01:25:33):
I got to meet her and her friends yesterday. She said,
longtime listener here. I look forward to listening to you
guys and the team every morning on my drive at work.
It was so nice meeting you yesterday. Rod at Willie's
and Katie on behalf of the oncology team at Houston
Methodist West Hospital. We are thankful for all you do
to promote cancer awareness and for supporting breast cancer research

(01:25:53):
this month. You guys rock and we look forward to
more events to help support in any way we can
have an awesome weekend. So if you heard me, that's
from Houston Methodist West's Hospital.

Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
So while it doesn't seem.

Speaker 5 (01:26:07):
Like Coke and PEPSI, there are competing brands out there,
and you know that they were even asking me. They're like, well,
how did you you know, how did you come to
start working with M d Anderson because we work over here,
and I told them the story and how long it's
been going on, and you know, they're competing hospitals, but
the goal is the same, the goal is the same,

(01:26:31):
and they came out to support us. Knowing that that
money was going across the street, and I thought that
was really cool. I thought that was awesome then, and
they did a great job of articulating it to me too.

Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
They're like, you know what you do.

Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
I know we're not financially the beneficiaries, but you talking
about it, and you're talking about breast cancer awareness and
you're talking about the research that's happening, and you know
it's a.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
They're all in this together, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:26:58):
So yeah, we always put the spotlight on m d Anderson,
but you know, they're doing amazing things at Methodist. So
I want to thank all those gales for coming out
and coming out and supporting and joining because the money's
not going to them, right, and they still took part
in it because they said, listen, the awareness and the
talking about it, we need that too because that helps
everybody out. So again, really really nice, thank you, Yeah,

(01:27:21):
thank you everybody that came out.

Speaker 15 (01:27:23):
Houston's Rock, Houston's Alternative All Day and The Rock Ryan
Morning Show ninety four five Buzz ninety four or five.

Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
The Buzz, It's one of my favorites.

Speaker 5 (01:27:34):
It's Offspring's Gone Away, Rob Ryan's show on this free
beer Friday. Thank you, Specs. I got another case of
beer coming your way. We'll get to that after Houston's
Headlines and Sports. We give you the beer and then boom,
Chili flips the phones and then it becomes what open
phones Friday? You guys get the whole last hour. Okay, reminder,
we'll draw car show tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
Are you making plans to join us?

Speaker 5 (01:27:58):
Chilie's got all that information on the world famous Rod
Ryan showpage at the buzz dot com. We are at
the crossroads location of Mancuso Harley Davison, So out there
on two ninety and Highway six.

Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
We'll be out there tomorrow morning after nine.

Speaker 6 (01:28:13):
We'll be there nine till about one one thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
Come out and say hello Mo Houston's Headlines Rod.

Speaker 7 (01:28:20):
It's going to be a perfect day to be out
at the car show tomorrow. I know we're still waiting
for full weather. It's going to feel more like August
than October, but the humidity is staying down and it's
going to be dry.

Speaker 6 (01:28:33):
So get outside, be there. We will see you tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (01:28:36):
In other news, Texas Governor Greg Abbot announced this week
that he's going to launch a new violent crime task
force in Houston and Harris County. He acknowledged that violent
crime in Houston is down twenty two percent compared to
last year.

Speaker 5 (01:28:49):
You think they're trying to get ahead of all this
news with these bodies in the Bayou, like, hey, guys,
it's safe here.

Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
As a matter of fact, let me drop some numbers
on you.

Speaker 6 (01:28:58):
Maybe you know what I mean. It seems like it's
reaction and because we're all freaking.

Speaker 7 (01:29:01):
Out, all freaking out about it, right right right, you know,
And they said they're sending in more folks to back
up the people that we already have here a law
enforcement and then yesterday Mayor Whitmeyer actually spoke about it
and said that the added task force is not only
going to bring personnel, but also forensic science and investigative
tools that we don't have HBD does not currently have.

Speaker 6 (01:29:21):
So you might be onto something. So this is good though, right,
I mean everyone agrees.

Speaker 7 (01:29:26):
Okay, yeah, good, Rod. I do need you to get
it together this weekend. And you've got a lot going on.
But an early Halloween poll found that seventy nine percent
of adults plan to celebrate this year, and so far.

Speaker 6 (01:29:39):
You're not on that list.

Speaker 3 (01:29:40):
Well, I know, I'm on the list of planning to celebrate.

Speaker 6 (01:29:43):
It's October third today.

Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
You need to decorate, Yeah, I need to need some decorator.

Speaker 12 (01:29:49):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (01:29:50):
So the new survey is about how people plan to
celebrate Halloween and having kids makes Halloween a lot more expensive,
which we all understand. The average spend for parents is
six hundred and fifty two dollars.

Speaker 6 (01:30:05):
What you say is that low?

Speaker 11 (01:30:06):
Is that high?

Speaker 6 (01:30:07):
You feel it?

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
That'll be low for me?

Speaker 6 (01:30:10):
Okay, I know Halloween's your holiday.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Halloween gets a little pricey.

Speaker 7 (01:30:15):
It says people without kids can get away with two
hundred and fifteen dollars.

Speaker 6 (01:30:19):
It's a different world.

Speaker 7 (01:30:21):
I've been keeping my eye on the diddy stuff this morning.
It's Ditty's day of reckoning. But ahead of today's sentencing hearing,
he decided to take responsibility for his actions. He told
the judge in his case that he's sorry for all
the hurt and pain he's caused others through his actions.
In fact, he filed a four page letter yesterday, beginning
with the apology, before admitting that the last two years

(01:30:42):
have been the hardest of his life and there is
no one to blame for his current reality situation, but
himself in the in.

Speaker 5 (01:30:49):
The apology, I saw he specifically named Cassie. Yeah, yeah,
he talked about we all saw that video, how horrific
it was. Yeah, and so he did call her out specifically.
She also has commented and said, listen, if you don't
put this guy away, this guy's gonna You're gonna put
him out on the streets. He's gonna come after us,
anybody that spoke out against him. He's coming after us.

Speaker 6 (01:31:10):
Scary.

Speaker 7 (01:31:11):
So prosecutors are asking the judge just Sendiddy away for
more than eleven years.

Speaker 6 (01:31:15):
But there is also I think he could walk free today.
There's also that possibility.

Speaker 3 (01:31:20):
Tell me what you think is gonna happen.

Speaker 6 (01:31:21):
I have no freaking clue, no idea. No, he's already
served two years one one.

Speaker 3 (01:31:27):
I think he gets time served. I think he walks.

Speaker 6 (01:31:31):
The hearing already started.

Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
I think he's been he's been locked up for a year.
So like then the entire sentence would be one year
for all the stuff he did.

Speaker 5 (01:31:38):
Yeah, yeah, because all the big stuff was dropped. There
was all like the trafficking and the stuff that really
puts you away for a long time. All that stuff
went away, And this is like prostitution stuff.

Speaker 6 (01:31:49):
Which uh transporting right, He's I don't know that. I
think that stuff went away that away. I thought that
was what staid.

Speaker 3 (01:31:57):
That's the stuff that really gets in trouble.

Speaker 6 (01:31:59):
All right, keep an eye on it. I'll let you
know if you have any updates.

Speaker 12 (01:32:02):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (01:32:02):
It's been over a month since Haley Williams from Paramore
released her solo album, Ego Death at the Bachelorette Party,
and she finally did an interview where she admitted to
taking a shot one of the most popular country stars
by the name of Morgan walland she says in the
song quote, I'll be the biggest star in this racist
country singers bar. And when she was questioned about it,

(01:32:23):
she's like, yeah, I'm always talking about Morgan walland I
don't give a.

Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
Crap, not like I'm going to leave that up to
you to figure out who it is. That's what most
artists would do. Haley's like, no, no, no, you know
who it's about. I'll tell you, yeah, Okay, those are
Houston sadlines. Alex Baseball, they're still playing baseball. They are
still playing baseball.

Speaker 6 (01:32:46):
Yankees advanced, they did advance.

Speaker 10 (01:32:48):
The Yankees, Cubs, and Tigers advanced yesterday and must win
game threes so they will advance the divisional series that
all start tomorrow. The ALE teams are going to then
play Sunday. E NL teams will play game two of
their series on Monday to split things up. On Thursday
Night Football, the forty nine Ers got by the Rams
twenty six to twenty three in overtime. Forty nine Ers

(01:33:11):
we're about to lose Kyen Williams and the Rams was
had the ball at the one on the goal line
and the forty nine Ers punched it out fell on
it ended up winning an ot Textans are gonna look
to follow in the Finders footsteps and get another win.
They're second straight on Sunday when they play the Ravens
up in Baltimore. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to
miss the game with a hamstring injury, so it's gonna

(01:33:31):
be Cooper Rush that starts at quarterback most likely for Baltimore.
Tech Tans are two and a half point favorites coming
into this. Kickoff is at noon. You can watch it
on CBS.

Speaker 3 (01:33:39):
Set a new jersey that Chili's wearing today. Let's guy,
let's sit you I haven't seen him where before. Looks fresh, Yeah,
looks hot, looking sharp. Let's goot on any buddy that bro.
Brad's a lucky guy. Yeah he is.

Speaker 10 (01:33:53):
He won the prize looking good. Some notable college games
on the schedule for tomorrow. Number nine UT is gonna
play Florida, U of Age is gonna host eleventh Thrink
Texas Tech. Number three Miami will be at number eighteen
Florida State, and number six Texas A and M plays
Mississippi State.

Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
That is what's going on in sports Houston.

Speaker 14 (01:34:11):

Speaker 3 (01:35:15):

been have you been trying? Just curious?

Speaker 12 (01:35:20):

Speaker 15 (01:35:24):

I wish we could keep those seventy degree tempers you've
been talking about that we're going to have in the
morning when we wake up.

Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
I wish that kind of went through throughout the day.

Speaker 5 (01:36:04):
We're gonna see highs of around ninety mostly sunny skies
with really really low chances of.

Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
Range, so you shouldn't have to worry about any of that.
So pretty good looking weekend. Oh oh well, wait a minute,
Alex said this was his favorite hour.

Speaker 16 (01:36:18):

Speaker 23 (01:38:34):
It was a wonderful event. And y'all are doing such
great things for the city of Houston.

And then if you start.

Speaker 5 (01:38:55):
Going and picking up the phone and doing what Big

thank you enough for all of that.

Speaker 5 (01:39:03):
It's so fun to get together with you guys and
hang out. And then I was giving Lou a hard
time because his wife convinced him to finally chop off
all that hair. Lou, it's beautiful, long, long hair, and
he comes up to me with no hair, and I
can't get used to him with the hair. But it's
your wife that got on you about that, right.

Speaker 3 (01:39:20):

Speaker 9 (01:39:24):

Speaker 10 (01:41:35):
I got a good ay well for you to kill
some time while you're waiting for the weekend to start.

Speaker 3 (01:41:39):
For you at work today, it's called Spot the Difference.
And it's just like those bar games where they show
you two pictures. You gotta find the five differences. Oh
two photos, and then there's the random two photos that
are the exact same. But you're still gonna have to
try and find the differences, and you got to realize
that it is the same photo. Oh that's torturous. It

(01:41:59):
shouldn't be allowed, had the beauty. There should be at
least one difference, the exact same. And then you're like, what,
I can't I've been looking at it for thirty minutes.
But it's a great way to kill time, like I said,
so go check it out. Des by the difference to
the well famous ride Ryan showpage at the bus dot com.
Or is there a difference? There's difference? Is in some
of this? Oh that's dirty? Not all dirty? You're in luck.

(01:42:21):
It's open phones Friday. All right, who's been holding the longest? John? John?
Thanks for hanging in there. Good morning John, Good morning

Speaker 13 (01:42:36):
I wanted to send the shout out to my wife
for call.

Speaker 23 (01:42:41):
On Wednesday, the thirtieth of September was our ten year
wedding anniversary.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
Way to go, Way to go, dude, So did you
spoil it? What do you do for that? What do
you do for ten years?

Speaker 17 (01:42:54):
Well, we really didn't do anything. Were really because we
live in San Antonio, so.

Speaker 13 (01:42:59):
We already didn't do anything, but we'll probably do something
this weekend.

Speaker 9 (01:43:02):
Though.

Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
Yeah, I hate to put you on the spot, but
it's ten years. Does a gift have to happen? Is
that sometimes to be wrapped with a bow. That's enough.
You've given each other enough. You've been giving her the
hog for.

Speaker 6 (01:43:14):
Top stop it.

Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
I'll probably just put a bow on my head and
just go somewhere else, just by, just like this phone call.
It's a gift, all right, John's a gift every day. Chris,
Good morning, Chris.

Speaker 9 (01:43:32):
Good morning Rob.

Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
Chris was out yesterday at the lunch I know this voice.

Speaker 12 (01:43:39):
Good morning you guys. Two couple of quick things, uh.
First one, just huge shout out to you guys and
all you do for raising awareness and money for this cause.

Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
Thank you.

Speaker 12 (01:43:49):
My sister actually beat breast cancer last year after a
series of treatments and double messtectomy and all of that.
I you know, people like you and everyone else across
the country, I owe a great set of gratitude too,
So thank you very very much. I'm eternally and your dad.
Second thing, I'd met you a couple of times It
was great to meet boj She was very kind. It

(01:44:11):
was good to see Alex smiling again. I never met
the wizard. I called him Wizard. He's like, my name's
actually Elian. Okay, cool, don't don't.

Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
Worry about it. He loves that wizard thing so much.

Speaker 12 (01:44:25):
You guys are really some of my favorite people on
this planet. Is part of the worst part of my
day when you guys leave, But six am I'm there.
So thank you guys so much for all you do
and I can't wait to.

Speaker 7 (01:44:39):
Hang out with you.

Speaker 5 (01:44:40):
Chris, Thank you, man, Thank you. I appreciate you coming
out and joining us yesterday. Chris is a good hang
for sure.

Speaker 11 (01:44:45):
It was.

Speaker 3 (01:44:46):
He was really fun. Sylvia, good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 21 (01:44:50):
How are you guys?

Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
Awesome? Awesome, you're on open phones? What do you got
for us? So?

Speaker 21 (01:44:56):
I wanted to know what's the weird food combination that
you guys love that everyone thinks he s grobs.

Speaker 3 (01:45:04):
Oh, okay, this we haven't done this in a long time.
There was a we did.

Speaker 5 (01:45:10):
We did a segment on this show and I think
we called it Psycho Sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (01:45:15):
Okay, do you remember that? Okay, Psycho Sandwiches, Like I'll
give you an example.

Speaker 2 (01:45:20):
OK.

Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
One person said that they put white bread, not toasted butter.

Speaker 5 (01:45:28):
And then what I can't remember what cereal it was,
but they made it's like a pee Herman sandwich or something,
and they said that they would they grew up eating that,
so that was like their psycho sandwich.

Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
I knew somebody that put grape jelly. This is the
weirdest one ever. I knew somebody to put grape jelly
in their split piece soup, and I thought that was
the weirdest thing ever. Who eats that was weird? Well,
up north, you eat lots of soups. I always thought
it was weird that people put ahunk of cheese on
apple pie. You ever see that? That is weird? To me,
that was just a weird thing. What is your what

(01:46:00):
is your weird food combination? So do you have something
weird that you do?

Speaker 21 (01:46:06):
It's not so weird, but it's so. I like to
get the Wendy's baked potatoes, and then I get the chili,
and then I get the Buffalo saucy nugs, and I
chop up the nugs and I put it on there,
and then I top it off with the chili.

Speaker 6 (01:46:24):
Potato delicious.

Speaker 3 (01:46:26):
That sounds fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:46:27):
I was going to have you locked up because I
thought you were going to tell me you pour that
Wendy's frosty inside of your baked potato, and I was
going to send over the authorities.

Speaker 6 (01:46:34):
The frost's totally different.

Speaker 21 (01:46:37):
I mean, if you dip the fries and the frosty
it's potatoes, it's weird.

Speaker 3 (01:46:41):
That is true.

Speaker 6 (01:46:42):
I don't think that's weird.

Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
That might be mind.

Speaker 5 (01:46:44):
I know people do that, Sylvia, and I think that's
a weirdo thing that people do. Dipping your French fries
in a chocolate shake. That's insane, Like it's insane. Thought
it was weird until I try it, and I was like,
you're right, that bad all right?

Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
Here they call them starving, Here they come, Here comes
all the psycho sandwiches and all that. I mean, some
people think that my cream, cheese and salami sandwich is weird.
And cats has stolen Kyle. Good morning, Good morning, rod Ryan,
show Kyle.

Speaker 5 (01:47:15):
Any weird food now this is going to be everybody.
You have any like weirdo food combination things that like
you maybe like that. You don't think anybody else approves.

Speaker 12 (01:47:23):
Of frisch fries and ice cream.

Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
Yeah, weirdos. I don't think that's that weird of a combo.
It's weird combo. I'm fine with it. Potatoes and ice cream.

Speaker 6 (01:47:35):
Like potatoes alone.

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
It's weird, a little sweet and salty, yes, But I
do have a fun fact for you guys.

Speaker 13 (01:47:42):
A famous person that also had their peace made out
of animal.

Speaker 5 (01:47:46):
Oh really, I cannot believe how much traction we're getting
out of that fun fact about that Canadian hunter. I'm
not explaining everything. You got to get up early with
us people. You got to get up early and join
us for fun facts and homeroom. But I would love
another fun fact, Kyle.

Speaker 12 (01:48:00):
Well, everybody knows something about this person.

Speaker 11 (01:48:03):
Thomas Edison has had several he made out of col.

Speaker 3 (01:48:10):
Ivory and hippo. I don't know that I knew that,
but I kind of animal has the coolest teeth that
you'd want. You think, Oh, good one.

Speaker 6 (01:48:22):
I mean ivory seems a little exclusive.

Speaker 3 (01:48:25):
I mean I'd go like maybe a couple of days
with some tusks.

Speaker 5 (01:48:28):
I don't think i'd want them all the time, but
a couple of tusks for a day or two, it'd
be badass.

Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
There's a fun fact though.

Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
I did as I don't know why I remember this
first grade. I remember the assignment was to come up
with everything right down as many wooden things made.

Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
Of wood as you could Taylor Swift songs and right.

Speaker 5 (01:49:00):
Yeah, I can't believe I didn't think of this before,
but it was the teeth and and I remember me
and the girl down the street from me, Tammy Knisney.
Oh god that I'm told you, this brain is working
at peak performance.

Speaker 6 (01:49:13):
Right now, right now.

Speaker 5 (01:49:14):
So she's about six doors down for me. She was
really smart. I wasn't, but I remember my mom helping me,
and for some reason, my mom really leaned into this
and we wrote down. I came in to school the
next day. I had a hundred things on there of
things that are made of wood. And the last thing
on my list was Kyle George Washington had some wooden
faked teeth and that was like my kicker at the end,

(01:49:36):
like that's where I like laid them dead.

Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
And I think I won. I think I I think
I came in and I.

Speaker 5 (01:49:42):
Had the most I had the longest list of things
made out of wood. Plus I had that little haha at.

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
The end there, and I really. I stole it from Tammy,
who always got straight a's, and I was seems like
a game we should play. Is it wood made out
of wood? You can't. That'd be a good one for
the seven and ten game for sure. All right, that's
another line open, Thank you, Kyle seven one, three, two
and two five four five wap sleepy Ron Ryan fly

(01:50:14):

Speaker 6 (01:50:17):

Our National Park shutdown is part of the government shutdown.

They are so some of the services are shut down, right,
so like sometimes they're open, but like maybe the toilets
aren't getting cleaned, you know, like stuff like that.

Speaker 13 (01:57:03):
What about the guy at the front gate parks their
gates open, you know, twenty four to seven, and you
can go in there. You can do trails and stuff,
But as far as any services, meeting with the rangers,
what have you, it's it's you can't do.

Speaker 3 (01:57:16):
What's this guy loads up the car, loads up the
kids and drives everywhere. What states have you not been
to yet?

Speaker 13 (01:57:25):
So right now it's uh, Michigan, Minnesota, and Alaska.

Speaker 5 (01:57:29):
Okay, Alaska is understandable, but those other two Michigan, those
are cool places. So you got some cool places still
hit but literally only two in the what is it
the contiguous United States or the ones that are attached
you only have two.

Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
That's amazing.

Speaker 13 (01:57:46):
We flew to Hawaii on a for a conference, so

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
