Speaker 3 (02:22):
So Dens fog advisory put us all in a mood
this morning, a little bit of a damper if you're
on the roads. The Dens fog advisory is set to
expire at nine am, but it looks like the fog
could linger even to ten eleven AM today. Give yourself
a little extra time if you can. We do have
a twenty percent chance of showers today, tempts in the
mid seventies, and then the fog will redevelop around seven

(02:46):
pm tonight. Next cold front looks like Sunday morning. People
are predicting the American traditions that will fade away in
the coming decades, and this list caught my eye because
we were just talking about one of them.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
You and your crazy Christmas cards. Christmas cards is on
the list of traditions that's going away, but not in
your house. I was amazed to hear how many Christmas
cards come in and go out at your place. I
really love it. It's down to it's very minimal in my house.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I mean it's very expensive, and you assume that most
people just throw them away when they get them the mail.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
But I'm keeping them, okay, Rod, all right.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Other things on this list class reunions just kind of
sad trick or treating.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I see that going away. Yeah, massive gender reveal events.
I think everybody's just done with those. Well, I feel
like the people are tired with them.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
How about Black Friday? We know that's already kind of dying.
You're not walking into a brick and mortar waiting in
line at midnight.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
No, there's none of that. Remember people used to like
sleep on it best by really fun. That's some other
things on the list.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
The Miss America pageant, private fireworks, daylight savings, time weddings
and thank you cards.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
And weddings can't be going away at least at the
large scale production is what's on this list.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Okay, it's expensive, but they're just getting more elaborate.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
All right. I know y'all are big Wham fans, So when.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
I saw this video, I had to share this story.
So there's a TikTok creator named dj vick shout Out.
He mashed up Wham's last Christmas with the number two
song on iTunes All Genre chart. That song is called
Choos in Texas and it's my country artist, Ella Langley.

(04:31):
It always blows my mind when these creative people make
these mashups and when they actually work.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
We got a clip.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
It doesn't take a Christal ball to a cowboy. Always
b away.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Now you hate it. I don't like the original song.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
I really suck.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Wham is the bam of your existence, the bane of
your existence.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's not I'm not again, I'm not anti Manti that
one song last Christmas. Take me to New Orleans Rod, Yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
The famed New Orleans Jazz Festival booked quite the impressive
lineup of performers for their twenty twenty six event. Headlining
the festival the Eagles and Stevie Nicks. They could end there,
but every time you talk about the festival, it sounds
really cool and there're seriously is something for everyone. They
played themselves and being a multi genre event. Names on
here that might surprise you like Kings of Leon, Rod Stewart,

(05:32):
Ta Pain, Earth Wind and Fire.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Lady Wilson. Lady Wilson's on there. Mark your calendars.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
It's two weekends April twenty third through the twenty six
and then again April thirtieth through May third. Tickets are
on sale now. Those are Houston's headlines. Think the Black
Keys are in there somewhere too. So yeah, it's a
pretty good lineup. It's a fun festival, guys. It's a
real fun festival. What you got over there.

Speaker 4 (05:53):

beat the Clippers one fifteen to one thirteen. Opera Shan
Goon had twenty two points of the night to lead
the team in scoring, and the Rockets are now sixteen

little early to make sure I don't fumble, and uh,
I was thinking, just okay, former defensive player, everyone's gonna
say j J Watt, I didn't even think that. Josh

(23:09):

We make you look smart in front of your buddy's

(26:05):
the fuck that's to the day. Okay, hell, are you
having a good time over there?

Speaker 16 (26:12):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (26:13):
I was like, I come in early. I want to
hear these games. Yeah, you know, all right, here we go.
I brought in some new fun facts for you guys today.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Chuck Howley is the only player from
a losing team to be named Super Bowl MVP. It was,

(26:35):
if you know your history, super Bowl five in nineteen
seventy one. It was such a mess, it was so awful.
It's called the Blunder Bowl. The Colts won sixteen to thirteen. Congratsmo,
but the two teams combined for eleven turnovers, five in
the fourth quarter alone. Chuck did make two interceptions like
he was the only bright spot in the game. They
had to give it to somebody, and no one ever

(26:58):
since has a losing team is one MVP. Interesting. Here's
another fun fact for you today. Poombah from The Lion King,
the first character to ever fart in a Disney movie.
That is an honor. Whoa mo. I know you don't
like farts, but I don't. That's a fun fact though.
I think somebody would find that front laughing. Hell's gig

(27:21):
went over there like a little kid. Yeah, that's fine.
Boardwalks did not get their name because of the wooden
boards that you walk on. They're named after a guy.
He came up with the whole idea to set up
the very first one in Atlantic City under the Boardwalk,

(27:42):
Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the eighteen seventies. His name
Alexander Boardman. That's neat created the board walk. It's the
fuck back to the day. We make you look smart bodies,
The fuck back to the day. Okay, Mom, what you.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Got I Hey, we have one last pair of tickets

Speaker 1 (28:17):

Brown facts yesterday because they're celebrated. It's sixty years for
a Charlie Brown Christmas when it debuted on CBS and
Coca Cola put up all the money for it. It
was what did we say, seventy six thousand dollars and
the Coca Cola rep said he didn't like it either

(28:38):
did the people at CBS, but they kept their opinions
to themselves and it aired. So my question is A
Charlie Brown Christmas got completed? How many days before the
first air date of December ninth, nineteen sixty five. How
many days before the air date did they turn it
in the finished product? Two win, two five, nine, four fives.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Now time for rockout with your stock out with Captain Cash.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Okay, he's no blockhead. Hi what I said? You're not
a blockoutt's football background, But you got a Charlie brownish
head there though, for sure. Thank you every buddy. Hey,
how you do on Wall Street? Yesterday?

good morning, good morning. Hello. Who's this, Desiree, Desiree. I
gave you a million facts yesterday about one of my
old time favorites at Charlie Brown Christmas.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
They completed it right before the air date December ninth,
nineteen sixty five. How many days did they have before
they aired it?

Speaker 16 (30:55):
Day?

Speaker 1 (30:56):
You got that right, You got that right. You're the
winner today. I'm the fun fact flashback. What do you
give in Dissaree, Desiree.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
We're super jelly that you're going to this never ending
nineties show as we're ray hert nineties hits, Christmas Rifts.
It's tomorrow, Smart Financial Center in sugar Land. Make sure
you send us all the pictures and videos, sister.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Of course we'll do yeah the best. Tomorrow night. It
is so fun busiest night and this history of Houston,
there's so much going on. This lights and the Heights,
Christmas parties, other work parties and the net concert lot
going on this weekend. Very foggy out there, guys, please
be careful. Twenty percent chance of rain today, foggy, mostly cloudy,

(31:35):
high seventy seven. Goes up to a thirty percent chance
of some rain tomorrow with morning fog again. Thirty percent
chance on Sunday. So not a wash out. But I
got mo right here with Houston's headlines. Thank you, sir.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Today we have the honor of telling you all about
our Saint Jude radiofon presented by Gallery Furniture, and all morning.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Long we get to tell you about how you can help.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
We've got to give a shout out to Joanna and Houston,
Casey and Houston, the Mark, Diana and Billy all in
Houston representing becoming partners in Hope for just nineteen dollars
a month to help the kids at Saint Jude facing cancer.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
You put your gift on a card.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
You're gonna get the new music give shirt and a
Saint Jude hoodie and you can actually text to get involved.
Text the word kids, Kids to the number six two
six two six to two open a new text in
the number section put six to two six two six
to two, and in the text message section right, kids, kids,

(32:30):
and Saint Jude is going to send you a link
to donate. We need seven more partners in hope before
seven am, y'all.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
We got five minutes. We believe in you.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Text Dot has scheduled closures on three major highways this weekend.
They start them on Friday evenings and they end a
Monday morning so that they can hopefully avoid a lot
of issues. But if you were in the area of
two eighty eight and sixty nine, just note that those
connector ramps around there are doing necessary closures to move

(33:00):
some pavement markings and barriers on the ramps. It's all
part of that demolition of that Alabama Street bridge over
the sixty nine main lanes that starts in January. If
you're just not feeling the holidays this year.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
It happens. Who's that feeling it? I mean, you know people.
This list is new ideas to get you in the spirit.
One of them is playing holiday music. Is the music
does get you into it? It does. I cannot believe
I was telling you guys, I was sharing with you
guys at dinner last night. I said, I can't believe
how into Christmas music London is this year. It's just

(33:37):
so important. Soon as we get the car. Yeah, doesn't
want to hear daddy stations like Sunday ninety nine point one.
How old is she this year? I'm on seven okay, yeah,
would she embrace it? But she's at peak Christmas music
like running around and singing NonStop Christmas music. It's got
to be the number one thing that gets us into it.
It is that in Christmas movies, movies playing in the background. Yes,

(33:59):
the same one over and over and over again.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
They say a lot of a lot of the events
can take you out of the spirit just because they
start to drag on.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
So plan one small holiday event.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Another idea was to send one Christmas card to someone
special or make a donation to a good cause.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
I didn't even make that up. It's on this list.
I'm just saying, it's going to put you in the spirit. Okay,
that would put me in this spirit all now, eight eight,
fourteen thirty three. To become a partner in hope, text kids,
that's right, gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
iHeartRadio is a national jingle ball tour presented by Capitol
one making a big stop in New York City. We
saw the Empire State Building lit up for the event.
Hell yeah, and Alex is ready to see Eli Manning
present tonight.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
It's gonna be the highlight of my night.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Performers Alex Warren, ed Sheeran Nellie and they're also doing
a sing along K Pop demon Hunter's themed We'll see
how that goes. We can see it because they compile
all the footage from all the tour stops and they
will play them Wednesday next week on ABC and then
the next day on Who Did you like.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
The music I picked for it? Yeah? Can we listen to?
Is the Nelly Florida Dredger line cover? Alex is a
big Florida George line. You're a big Florida in your closet.
Florida Dredge line. So real? Hey, Ron, you had a
big day yesterday? Did triumph? You got to do an interview?

Speaker 3 (35:23):
The guys are bringing their fiftieth anniversary tour to Houston
May twenty second, Smart Financial Center in sugar Land, marking
their first tour in decades.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
How did it go? Went well? Just the bass player
showed up for the interview. Okay, is you nerd out.
Are you cool? Yeah, I got it out of the way.
I flushed it out in the beginning of the interview.
I said, dude, I'm freaking out right now, just so
you know I'm freaking out. He goes, that's okay. He
was really, really nice. Yeah, he knew that I was
genuinely a fan. And the thing that I think you'll

(35:53):
get from the interview. You can watch this on the
music blog page. I'm sure they love the state of Pennsylvania.
You know, they're from Canada, so I'm sure Ohio was
great to them, and New York was a big market
for them, and Buffalo played them. It was NonStop Triumph
when I was a kid on the airwaves. But Texas
really is special to this band. When they broke in

(36:14):
the United States, they owe it all to the radio
station in San Antonio and then Dallas and Houston took
a look at what was going on, and he really said,
he goes, Texas is very very special to us. And
you got to believe him because it's even in their
documentary they talk about how important this state was for
Triumph to have the success that they did in the
United States. The first place they were big in the States.

(36:37):
Was in Texas. Yeah, so he talked a lot about that.
So it was really good. So, yeah, they're coming to town.
Tickets go on sale today at ten am. They're going
to play the Smart Financial Center at Sugarland, Chile. Put
the last pair of tickets on mo the show today.

Speaker 3 (36:50):

(38:48):
this Robbi guy. How does he win all that beer?
You're not really a fresh out of bad head to
head guy or anything like that. You don't really call
for that game. No, No, I'm too slow. But occasionally
you'll call for tickets and stuff like that. Well, we're
not playing some games when it's just a caller ten situation,
you'd like to just keep it to the ten. You're
sometow that's you're kind of linked with that caller.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
Ten will you're the one that makes the game.

Speaker 9 (39:14):

gonna be cowboys there.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
The girl, I gotta go, all right, most got six

to see everybody last night and listen. No time for

Speaker 1 (44:35):
Oh let's get those things on the way.

Speaker 4 (44:38):
He's a Graham wizard. TJ Watt is also trending this morning.
He is in the hospital still getting his lungs evaluated.
He was experiencing lung discomfort during practice yesterday. So the
rest of the hospital hopefully everything is okay. But we
already talked about one of the Watt brothers, so that's
trending as well.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
JJ Watt is trending because that was a question on
the answer a bed head to head Tournament of Champions.
It was him that was mo Dirty took down the
ghost so dirty kindly on me and then totally blaming
that on you.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
Sharon Moore is trending still. We talk about him a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Yesterday. He was the Michigan football coach.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
I was fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer,
then was arrested for an alleged assault. It seems like
more stuff is just coming out by the hour. There's
gonna be a lot more that unfolds in this whole thing.
But people are still talking about Sharon Moore and his
arrest and as was trending on ninety for five to
the Buzz, see what I'm doing?

about that, Ricardo. And we are seeing this. I'm hearing
MO when she's doing her shout outs. People are saying,
I'm doing this because of this person. It's like, whatever
your motivation is to become a partner in hope, we're
asking you to pledge that nineteen dollars a month to
help the kids over at Saint Jude facing cancer. Here's
one more Dan says Rod. A couple of years ago,

(49:46):
you got me motivated to donate to Saint Jude, and
I was in a position where I could do it.
Last year we could not afford it. But this year
I am able to be back again and be a
partner for Saint Jude. Keep up the great work you
and the crew. Yeah, everybody's your financials. It's such a
personal thing. It's like last year he couldn't do it.

(50:09):
Two years ago when we started working with Saint Jude,
He's like, Okay, this sounds like a great thing. But
last year he couldn't. He's like, hey, we're doing okay
this year. So he became a partner in hope nineteen
dollars a month to help the kids over at Saint
Jude facing cancer. We'll get you the music gives T
shirt the Saint Jude Hoodie by calling one eight hundred
five eight eight fourteen thirty three. One eight hundred five

(50:30):
eight eight fourteen thirty three, One more time Dial it Together.
One eight hundred five eight eight fourteen thirty three.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
This holiday season brought to you by Dad, Dad gets
them today, available wherever products are sold.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
The Red Ryan Show Mornings ninety four five, The Vins
ninety four five, The Buzz, Good Morning, Rot Ryan Show,
Sublime and Sonata. We were jumping around before that Rob
Ryan Show. Free Beer Friday. Every case of beer is
getting a one hundred dollars card to Willie's Grill and
Ice House. They were in the house yesterday. They brought

(51:04):
lunch down. There's some breakfast out there right now upus.
We should give me a shout out. I've never been there.
There's one in the Heights snooze. Holy moly Rod, you're
missing out. London's been there. I haven't been there.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
Amazing, And you have these seasonal pancakes. They brought strawberry
shortcake pancakes today.

Speaker 1 (51:22):
Oh I skipped over that. I skipped over those pancakes.
This is just my first plate. I might have to
go back. I need the carbs. So the people at
Saint Jude, they're all kind of all over the place
right now and they're keeping us all well fed and everything.
And there's a lot of people that are donating food
and everything like that. During our Day two of our
Saint Jude Radio Emathon, brought to us by Gallery Furniture.

(51:45):
More fog emails, Brother Rod can confirmance either high beams
or no lights at all. What so cars are just
disappearing in the fog, pure stupidity. That's James the truckers
out there. Yeah, it seemed like yeah, less and less
now with Ryan going, Brother Rod, he always oh, he
always leaves James the Trugger stay rock hard. Yeah. Yeah,

(52:10):
I think I mentioned the other day that London's godmother
for nan. You have a paran and a nan when
you do it Cajun style. I've never heard that before. Yeah,
godmother and god The Godfather is the paran and your
godmother is the nan or n Nan. Yeah, she's just
a better person than everybody. She's rapped and bought everybody

(52:31):
all the stuff and rapped who the hell is rapped again?
If you're done with your Christmas shoppings, I know some
of you are just superior human beings. And you start
early or you're looking like all year round and you're
get in there. It's like rot. I'm told this, when
you see it, you got to buy it. It could

(52:52):
be in the summer or whatever, but you got They're
always on there's some switch that's on at all times
for people when it comes to people Christmas, good people,
good good people. They're thinking of others, you know, horrible
people just waiting till the last minute. Me, but she's rapped,
And I just thought that was just way, like, I

(53:13):
know why I picked you to be the godmother, but
but that wrapped. Now you're just showing off. Now you're
just showing off my wrapping skills. Kind of the same
time that my handwriting peaked when I was about nine,
I was in my handwriting peach at like four. My
handwriting peaked around with London seven eight, nine, nine years

(53:38):
old is when my handwriting peaked. And then I never
got any better. It never got any more, It never
got any more legible. My rapping skills. There's something about
wrapping presence that there's just some people that are really
good at it. I've never seen a better rapper in
my entire life than Hal's wife, Mama Cathay is the
greatest rapper of all time. Don't come at me with Eminem.

(54:00):
Better better than Eminem. She also loves it right, you
gotta love it, yeah, and then the bows.

Speaker 3 (54:06):
Yes, passion love all of that.

Speaker 1 (54:08):
But shows a woman has never bought in a store
bought pre bowed bows. Yeah, that who can compete with that?
People were asked about the top five gifts were struggling
to wrap right now? The top how to wrap blank
questions that are on Google this week. Yeah, how to

(54:32):
wrap blank? Google has provided me this is what you
guys are looking at. Number one. How to wrap a candle.
If the candles round, it's tough like that barrel. I mean,
if it comes in a box, then you got no excuse.
But if the round stuff is harder. And YouTube has
videos now, Alice is gonna Elis is gonna be the
first guy to say, dude, toss it in a gift bag.

(54:55):
You can't just woos out on the gift bags, on everything,
every single thing in a gift bag, commad, it's not
as much love in it.

Speaker 20 (55:03):
My wife wanted a griddle one time and it was
too big for a gift bag. So I got a
gift bag and then I just like half wrapped the
other side. They were sticking out of it, and I
can't do the whole thing, so they get a half
wrap you.

Speaker 1 (55:16):
She loved it. How to wrap a baseball bat is
being asked this week. So I guess a lot of
kids are getting baseball bats. Yeah, I guess the easiest
thing that would be to put it in a box
or like one of those cardboard shipping tubes. That's what
I was thinking. But then you're got to wrap the
damn tube.

Speaker 3 (55:34):
Yeah, you'd have to do it almost like a Tootsie roll,
where you like roll it and then the edges are.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
Now, could you just put a bat under the tree
with just a bow on it? Yes, you can do
anything with a bow on it, right, just throw a
ball on it.

Speaker 10 (55:46):
Look?

Speaker 3 (55:47):
Sometimes yeah, yeah, sometimes Sanda just drops it down the
chimney and puts as.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
A time to wrap things all time busys Top five
things that we are How to wrap blank on Google
this week. How do a power wheels? Oh the big thing.
Fanta did that last year.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
Just put a big bow, like a huge bow, like
it's your a car, Like you're actually getting a car.

Speaker 1 (56:09):
A power wheel is like the big car that the escalade. Okay, yeah,
you don't wrap. Well, they do make those big bags
now they do that. Look, I think Santa brings those also. Okay,
that's number four. How to wrap sweatpants? Putting it in
a box, reuse one of those Amazon boxes, those six

(56:32):
thousand boxes that are showing up this week. Don't throw
them all away, keep them. And then how to wrap
a calendar? You know you're getting a calendar. The calendars
are a dead giveaway that you're getting a calendar unless
you put that in a box. But it's the calendar
is pretty easy to wrap. But you know what it is,
it's just sitting there. It's like you might as well
just get this all the way. I don't get putt
a calendar bag. Calendar calendars are very vaggable gifts. Okay,

(56:56):
well that's what you guys are looking up. Apparently, what
do we have for you next hour? You got any
more of those drunk Christmas Carol tickets? I actually do.
We're gonna give those away at eight twenty another one
hundred dollars gift card for Willy's Grill and Ice House
with a case of beers about nineteen minutes away. Stay there,
Rock and Alternative Fair use to The rod Ryan Morning

(57:19):

percent chance of rain. Hi have seventy six tomorrow, I

(58:01):

oh boy, there's some big football games. The Harvey n
Army Navy is this tomorrow. Yeah, it's a fun one too. Hi,
Mal good more mae what you got for useince headlines.

Speaker 3 (58:15):
We are pushing and telling y'all about our Saint Jude

Houston and Nicole and Webster, among others who have become

donate and you can check things out. Text kids kay
I d S to the number six two six to two,

(58:56):
six to two. Denzpog advisory is going on. It's putting
a little damper on our morning commute this morning. The
advisory is set to expire at nine am, but it
looks like it's going to linger until ten even eleven o'clock,
So give yourself extra time if you can. We do
have a twenty percent chance of showers today, temperatures in
the mid seventies, and then the fog will redevelop around

(59:18):
seven pm tonight. I saw this list and I thought
of y'all, because yesterday we were talking about sending out.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
Christmas cards or one day this week.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
People are predicting the American traditions that will fade away
in the coming decades.

Speaker 1 (59:33):
And Christmas cards is on that list and Christmas cards dead. Yeah,
I've noticed that's really drying you up out there. Yeah,
is that I have to do with? I mean they're expensive,
for sure.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
It definitely takes a lot of time, effort and love
because you know you have to like get a picture
and put it on there and print it out, and
the dressing things and keeping track of where people live,
like that's hard work. But this list is kind of insane.
They say class reunions are kind of is.

Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
It because you see everybody on social media? Yep, that's
exactly why. Okay, would you go to a class reunion?
I have? Yeah, I have, I'm gone like ten to twenty.

Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Trigger treating on this list. You kind of called that. Well.
We talked about how big trunker treating is for people
in maybe areas that don't have close by neighbors a
lot of churches. There's so many events are doing things
in parking lots. So I hope trigger treating doesn't go away.

Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Massive ginger reveals and massive weddings the past, get rid
of them. The Black Friday to Miss America pageant and
private fireworks also daylight saving time on this list.

Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Fine, Montgomery County's on the phone, like you'll never you
will take those fireworks out of my cold dead hands. Okay,
they blow off fireworks all the time, Conrod, they love
their fireworks. Called being in America, it says that there's
a lot of crackdowns, probably not here. That's not an
that's not a Texas list at least. I know that's
probably a nationalist. But the private fireworks blow it on me.

(01:01:07):
I've never seen a love of private fireworks in my
life like I do down here, Rod. I know you're
a big Wham fan, no loves. Why did I think
that I don't mind Wham. It's just the song Last
Christmas terrible in every cover of it, including the Tayta version.
It's a terrible song, fighting word, terrible song.

Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
I saw this video so I had to share it
because I knew you would hate it. A TikTok creator
named dj Vic mash up this song with the number
two song on.

Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
iTunes all genre.

Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
It's a song called Choos in Texas and it's by
a country artist named Ella Langley.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
Listen to it.

Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
It doesn't take a christalln a Cowboy Always Away?

Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
Is this the slowest news day ever that we're doing?
This slows my mind that these create.

Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
If people can find these songs that sound so similar
and mash them right up, it's good.

Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Rod Wide took me to New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
Please.

Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Oh the jazz Fest lineup is out very impressive. What
do you think? I'm just wondering, what are the Eagles
charging the guys that put on jazz Fest in New Orleans.
It's a million dollars. It's got to be a million
dollars insane to get them to get off the couch
and come out to that one show because it's not

(01:02:28):
a tour. Yeah, you know, they've been doing the Spear
for a while and then they're doing jazz Fest. It's
easily a million dollars for that.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Stevie Nick's also a big headliner. They pribe themselves in
being a multi genre event. So lots of very interesting
names on here. Lord Teddy Swims, I see the Black Keys,
Ta Pain Hell Yeah, Kings of Leon, Rod Stewart, Laney Wilson,
like we know all of these names. It's two weekends
long April twenty third through the twenty six and then

(01:02:58):
again April thirtieth through May third.

Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
Tickets are on sale now. It's on my calendar.

Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
Did you go see Stevie Nicks solo at Toyota Center
last year the year before.

Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
I just saw some stuff of her online. She's forgetting
lyrics and things like that. I mean, she's getting up
there too. How was it?

Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
She doesn't do the spinny stuff anymore? But like I
didn't expect, like I didn't. I didn't go in expecting
like prime Stevie Nicks. I was like, I want to
see Stevie Nicks before she dies. Yeah, and she does
more storytelling. I feel like in between songs, she's like,
you know, Tom Petty and I we wrote this together
and uh sixty seven and this.

Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Happened and blah blah blah blah blah. Yeah, like and
then she goes into the song. So that was kind
of cool. She can still sing, Yeah, she can still wail. Okay,
she's got the range. Okay, she maybe doesn't remember the lyrics,
but get her a little get her a little thing
up there. She can read. I've never seen her. I've
never seen her life best. Those are Houston deadlines. You
got to see her, all right? What you got in
Sports on Thursday Night Football. The Falcons got by the

(01:03:52):
Buccaneers twenty nine to twenty eight.

Speaker 4 (01:03:54):
They had a game winning field goal as time expired
in that one. Texans are gonna try and make it
six wins in a row on Sunday when they host
the Ardinals at a NRG stadium. They're nine and a
half point favorites heading into this game. Kickoff is at
noon and you can watch the game on Fox. We
got a big game in college football tomorrow is the
Army Navy game.

That'll kick off at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon and you
can watch it on CBS.

Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
I know we have a ton of Army Navy people
that listen to the show. We lost the Navy friend
this year. He would always talk about this game as well.
Truck Array. But where are you going to watch the game?

Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Mo?

Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
You want a great environment watching football? Yeah? Tell me
if you go to the bar where Army and Navy
are hanging out and the ball bust and that's going
on between those two, I'm telling you, Hey, party too. Yeah.
If you've got a party, okay, you better uber in
and you uber out let me tell you. I thought so. Yeah,
where are you guys going to watch the game? Is
there an official spot? Share that with us and I'll

(01:04:47):
pass that along. In basketball, Rockets got to win last night.

Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
They beat the Clippers one fifteen one to thirteen Ouprea
in Shangoon at twenty two points the night to lead
the team in scoring. The Rockets are now sixteen and
six on the season. That is what's going on? What's

twenty percent chance of rain and the fog. It's big

(01:07:31):
forgotten it. I've totally forgot about that. An Army's commercial,
wasn't it. Yeah, I think you're right. Twenty percent chance
of rain today mostly cloudy, high seventy seven, thirty percent
chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday, so it's all day,
you know, an actual commercial. No, I can't behave myself

(01:07:52):
around the drops I see when I get excited. Hey,
it's day two our Saint Jude Radio Athon, brought to
you by Gallery Furniture. Can I share a quick email? Please? Wait?
Did you have a minute here? You know, we're just
trying to say some lives at a big deal. You know,
Saint Jude has helped push the overall survival rate in
the US with childhood cancer, which they started in nineteen

(01:08:15):
sixty two. It was about twenty percent chance of survival.
With the help of Saint Jude, and with the help
of you, it's over eighty percent and they're not going
to stop until no child dies of cancer. This is
a pretty cool email, and I'll say this, I'll read
it morning.

Speaker 6 (01:08:34):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Hey, I'm not sure if this is a good idea
or not. Listen, Eddie Hartman, when you made the decision
to listen to this radio show, you've made nothing but
great decisions all so it's a great idea, he said.
Did you know that some companies will match an employees
contribution to Saint Jude's I found out that mine does.
I work for AT and T. We made our pledge.

(01:08:55):
We are blessed to have healthy kids and we hope
that this will help those who have to go through
Saint Jude. Saint Jude, they do some amazing work and
save lots of lives. God bless them, and God bless
the families and the children going through it. Merry Christmas
to you and the Buzz family Eddie and Tammy Hartman. Ugh,
I just got goosebump selver my whole body. Yeah, it's
pretty great, all right, get your company to match. That's

(01:09:17):
the thing I get money from from companies, the match situation. Yeah,
the rod Ryan shokeres Foundation. So that is the thing,
and I think there's probably a ton of people that
don't explore that option. All you have to do is
just ask. I mean, like you're an HR person, I guess,
so you know if that's or just whoever's the higher
stuff person that you have, just say, hey, get on

(01:09:38):
this for me. Can you find out does our company
offer any kind of a match situation? And then sometimes
they'll just double the donation. Sweet. So when you give
nineteen dollars per month, you make it possible for Saint
Jude to do what they do, and they do it
better than anybody out there. Okay, so we're asking you
to text the word kids six two six two six two.

name in a hat and at the end of the hour,

for you, all right, loving having the Saint Jude people
in the building with us for a second huge day
coming up. Most got those drunk Christmas Carol tickets for you.

fan on that, but you just don't care, you know,
not a big charity guy.

Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Guys interesting abused the belt. Dan said, Rod, thank you
so much for bringing up the possibility of matching donation
from companies. I just emailed my HR department and I'm
hoping they will match my donation. If they do, I'll
let you know keeping my great work. It's awesome, Dan,
Thank you. We just talked about that. Yes, Dick Van
Dyk is trending. DVD is turning one hundred tomorrow. He's

(01:12:15):
everywhere right now. Yeah, he's everywhere and just really cool.
Dude still kind of hopping around at one hundred years old,
and he did not know he was still alive. He's
a big advocate for older people staying moving, staying mobile.
I saw him at an interview and he was yelling
at old people to take the stairs. Well, my knees hurt.
That's telling you to take the stairs. He's one hundred

(01:12:38):
years old and he's still kind of hopping around a
little bit. He seems to be mentally and physically really
really with it. Good for him.

Speaker 4 (01:12:43):

on ninety four to five The Buzz, Here we Go,
ninety four five The Buzz. White Stripes seven Nation Army
Alex White Stripes just got into the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame. Yeah, how say rock? Okay, lotta band's rock.

(01:13:44):
It's a way to wait a long time to get in.
I just sold a lot of the album. Okay. I'm
glad you brought that up. I didn't influence on the
musical industry. Let's go back to the selling a lot
of albums twelve million worldwide. Only two million of those
White Stripes sold in America. It's not a lot of albums. Yeah,
but twelve million is a lot more than us, more

(01:14:05):
than you, more than me. I've not sold twelve million
million of anything. Nickelback has sold fifty million albums. Well,
and people make fun of them.

Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
Wait, and they're not in the no, but they're not
as like, no, they will make no fun of it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
They'll go in white stripes. Aren't has made fun of it.
I'm not saying it's justified. It's just of course it's
not album sales alone. And you said some other things
that absolutely make sense. Jack White very influential, He's produced,
he has done a lot of other things, and and
he's just he's a real famous guy. Yeah, I think

(01:14:40):
he belongs in the rock and roll Hall of Fame.
But it is, but it is an album sales. Yeah,
he definitely does belong. I don't know, I don't know.
I think I think the racin Tours was his best.

Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Where over your white strands white strips is absolutely way
more popular. But yeah, I mean seven Nsian Army just
the one we just played like that alone is like
such an iconic song.

Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
It's played in every stadium almost every single game. It's anthemic. Yeah,
it's an anthem for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
Okay, we'll actually going with Creed. They should get in
together and put them both in.

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
I can't wait a fun year. I can't wait to
laugh at everybody when Creed and nickelback go into the
rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I absolutely cannot wait
for you should have to induct each other, these bands
that people crap on and stuff. Of course they're going in.
Of course they're going in. And I think you gotta
start taking a look at Shinedown. Now Miscuit has to
go in with them. Shinedown's getting around twenty five years?
What's that Limp Biscuit, Creed and Nickelback shall go in together?

(01:15:32):
It okay, so.

Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
Like you made fun of these bands, but they're actually
you all liked themause you know all the songs.

Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
So if you look at No, I don't create these
terms the new metal and you metal Corn right there
at the the ground floor of that Lincoln Park, and
that's where you get your Lincoln Parks, your limp Biscuits,
and then you get the next wave is pop a roach? Yeah?
I don't know. I don't know. Is Corn a rock

(01:16:01):
and roll Hall of Fame band? I know, I'm not saying.
I'm not asking. Ever, if you like the band, are
they a rock and roll Hall of Fame band? They
might be. They might be because they kind of I
don't think they pioneered it. I don't think they're the
only ones that did it. People are gonna tell me
about these other bands that are more obscure that we're
doing that before them. But Corn hit the mainstream with
that new metal thing. Yeah, I don't know, all right.

(01:16:23):
I do like to talk about it though. The more
rock and roll makes no sense anyways. You have no
idea how half of this stuff happens. That's the whole
Nobody knows that. There's a music blog page up today.
There's a bunch of music stories on there. Jazz Fest
lineup is up. It's a pretty good lineup. Most talking
about that in Houston's head lines. That's the one festival
I go to every single year. Yeah, I go to jazz.

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Fest and chaotic Yeah yeah yeah, I mean way if
you're going back every year.

Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
Yeah, it's a festival. It's there's feet feet, there's dirty
festival feet everywhere you look. But it's chill. It's like
I always call it spring break for old people, and
it's just it's a chiller. It's a more chill vibe.
I've never seen fights or anything like that. Let's go
over to the phones here, Good morning, rod Ryan Show. Hello, Hi, Yeah,

(01:17:12):
you're like okay, when's this guy gonna stop yeah and
come over and talk to me? Hi? What's your name?
Ashley Ashley with an E y?

Speaker 10 (01:17:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
Your caller Ted? What's up?

Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
Awesome?

Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
You got some tickets for Ashley with an ey Drunk
Christmas Carol Ashley, How does it sound?

Speaker 9 (01:17:33):
That sounds fun?

Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
Hilarious. It's going on now through January fourth.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Go to Drunk Christmas dot com from more info or
to buy your passes.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):

Speaker 21 (01:17:44):
Awesome.

Speaker 12 (01:17:45):
I will definitely sing y'all a review.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):

an ey Merry Christmas to you guys. Oh thanks, that's nice.
That's nice.

Speaker 8 (01:17:58):
Mo.

Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
If I say Lily from AT and T, do you
know who I'm talking about? TV commercials, She's like she's
like secretly, I don't think it's much of a secret anymore.
She's like super hot, but doesn't come across super hot.
She comes across super cool. I think she was involved
in like the writing and the overall creative of the

(01:18:18):
AT and T ads. She's got a massive set of
warlocks on her for her, I think she's done maybe
some Second City type stuff. She's you know, she's a
stage person and then she got the AT and T
gig and she was the spokesperson for them for a
long long time. Do you look her up? Yeah, she's
very pretty. You know who does it look familiar to

(01:18:38):
you or No? No, her name is uh Milana Vane Trub,
not Lily, No, not Lily. She that's her character. So
you know, there's something called only Fans out there. I've
heard of it, and like we're all hoping that Lily
will go to only fans. She's not doing that. She

(01:19:01):
doesn't do that. That's not that kind of girl.

Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
She did start up something called only Philanthropy and it's
a slam on OnlyFans. But she does wear some suggestive clothing,
but all the money goes to charity. It's really cool
what she does. It's pretty awesome what she does. And
I'm sure there's a lot of guys out there that
know exactly who I'm talking about. She just raised half

(01:19:24):
a million dollars. Okay, I mean I had my own
thoughts and I've said some things about people how I
feel about OnlyFans. She kind of just sells respectful, flirty
type pictures and it's all for a good cause. And
she's raising money right now for wildfire victims in Los

(01:19:45):
Angeles and her pictures on only Philanthropy. Good for her
half a million dollars. She's headlining to look at a
girl's blog page today, girl. Good for her. She seems cool,
she seems super super cool. Chloe Kardashian says she hasn't
had sex in four years. Just would one guy come
forward and say that you slipped in there in the

(01:20:06):
last four years and tell her that she's lying. Just
tell me that she's lying. Somebody. Yeah, somebody's gonna come forward.
It's like, did you forget? Did you forget three weeks ago? Somebody? Yeah,
that's her big story right now that everybody's running with
that story that she hasn't had sex in four years? Please?

(01:20:27):
Oh and viagra for women, Thank god, there's viagra for women.
That new? Yeah it is. I didn't know it is new. Yeah,
it's a it's not a pill, it's a cream. What
at ingredients of viagara? Okay, stopping? Are we stopping that cream? Cream? Period?

(01:20:47):
End of discussion. What would you rather have for Christmas?

Speaker 6 (01:20:51):
Nine Ladies Dancing or eight maids of milk? Game? Take
your time maybe Christmas.

Speaker 1 (01:20:58):

Nineteen dollars a month to help the kiddos at Saint
Jude facing cancer get involved.

Speaker 6 (01:24:06):
Thank you? Right?

Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
I have a speech impediment.

Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Second story is about texta this weekend because they are busy,
they have scheduled closures on three major highways this month.

Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
And on the weekends.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
They starting on Friday evening and they end Monday morning.
So if you're in the area of sixty nine and
two eighty eight, the sixty nine southbound to eighty eight
connector ramp and the two eighty eight northbound to sixty
nine southbound connector ramp, that whole area is preparing for
the demolition of that Alabama Street bridge over sixty nine,
and that's scheduled to begin at the beginning of January.

(01:24:44):
So they've got to like reevaluate how they're doing the
flow of traffic.

Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
So just be aware this weekend. You know what, it
will help play Michael Bubley.

Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
Maybe oh the weather outside.

Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
You're right right, doesn't it help? I am so chipper, Yeah, Alex,
I'm doing it for you. Let it snow, Let it snow,
Let it snow. Come on, Alex.

Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
If you're not in the holiday spirit, you're not alone.
But there is a list of things if you're not
feeling it this year, things you can do to kind
of you know, light a fire under your booty. Okay,
play some holiday music, watch your favorite holiday movie. Maybe
playing a small get together with some friends, or send
out one Christmas card to someone special Number four.

Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
On this list.

Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
Something you can do rep make a donation to a
good cost Oh to the spirit.

Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
I know of one right off the top of my head,
Saint Jude. If you become a partner in hope, we'll
get you the T shirt and the hoodie one eight
hundred and five eight eight fourteen thirty three, just off
the top of my head.

Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
Nikki from Dayton did that, so did Haesus from Houston
and Sheila from Houston, and thank you so much. Did
you see that the Empire State Building was lit up
for iHeartRadio? No there, it's iHeartRadio's National jingle Ball Tour.

Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
It travels along and they've been.

Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
Compiling footage from all the different stops and on Wednesday
they're actually going to play the iHeartRadio jingle Ball Tour.
You can all watch it ABC, But tonight is the
last one. It's the big Madison Square Garden Show. I
did see that Eli Manning is presenting good and some
are what is presenting. I think he might be like
bringing someone on something Yeah, and then Alice Warren ed

(01:26:22):
Sheeran Nelly, it'd be a disservice if he didn't say this,
You're right, And then they're doing a big K pop
demon Hunter things so we can watch it on Wednesday
or mind show.

Speaker 1 (01:26:35):
Broud, you had a big day yesterday after the show. Yeah,
I got to do an interview bucket list, would you
say that? I talked to the bass player from Triumph.
Triumph tickets going on sale today at ten am and
I got to speak to the bass player and I
grew up loving this band and just kind of asking
him where the whole thing came about with them getting

(01:26:57):
back together. They haven't gone on tour as a band
in thirty years. There's been a couple of things here
and there. One offs they just played in Edmonton during
the Stanley Cup Finals, and I think that's I said,
who had the idea to say, hey, we should maybe
get back together? And he said Live Nation. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
I thought it was like maybe one of their kids
or something that was like, come on, dad, like this
people are talking about you.

Speaker 6 (01:27:21):
Noah.

Speaker 1 (01:27:21):
That's where Mike was. So He's like, no, Live Nation.
They're like, I think we can make a lot of
money with this. You guys need to go out on tours.
So they're they're going out this song, this song right here.
So if you can think like the hockey highlights, the
hockey guys, they're walking on the ice, they're getting ready
for the finals, blah blah blah. All the hockey playoffs

(01:27:43):
in Canada, they were using this, okay, And I said,
I said to him, I said, it was like being
in regular rotation on rock radio. He goes, no, it
was ten times worse. We were all sick of it.
That's all that they were playing on Canadian television was
this song. Because it was just it was just hockey
highlights over and over and you know, promoting the games
coming up. So this so one became heavy rotation again,

(01:28:05):
and then they just thought, let's try it, let's see
if we can go out on tour. So they got
three shows in Texas and we should have all that
information up on the music blog page, but my interview
is up there. Yeah, he was great.

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
Okay, So we can watch your interview and we can
check on tickets. They go on sale ten am smart
Financial Center dot net and you can also win one
more pair before they go on sale.

Speaker 1 (01:28:26):
We have a pair in know the show. Those are
Houston headlines. Take it Alex.

Speaker 4 (01:28:30):
On Thursday Night football, the Falcons got by the Buccaneers
twenty nine to twenty eight. They had a game winning
field goal as time expect win that one. The Texans
are gonna try and make it six wins in a
row on Sunday when they host the Cardinals over at
in OURG Stadium. They come into this game as nine
and a half point favorites. Kickoff for that I'll be
at noon and you can watch it on Fox. In
college football tomorrow, the Army Navy game is going down
in Baltimore at I'll kick off at two o'clock and

(01:28:51):
you can watch it on CBS. And in basketball, the
Rockets got to win last night. They beat the Clippers
one fifteen to one thirteen. Alpera and Shingoo had twenty
two points in the night to leave the team in scoring.
Rockets are now sixteen and six on the year. That
is what's going on in sports.

Speaker 1 (01:29:06):

Speaker 22 (01:31:05):
