Speaker 2 (00:09):
A hard to brought us some new fun facts for
you guys today. Back in the nineteen seventies, a product
was made its debut.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
It was chunk Stuffers. Maybe how I don't know.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I gotta go to you chunk stuffers in the seventies.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Chunk Stuffers, I wasn't paying attention.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
They weren't moving any units, so they changed the name
to Hot Pockets.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
God, I ate my fair share of those, man. I
had a moment with those. Yeah, I think everybody did
for a while. So good the peppery pizza and they
have a cheese. Here's another brilliant marketing decision.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Crayola, Crayola Crayons, Crown Crayons, Crowns. Crayola released a line
of food scented crayons in nineteen ninety four.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
That is fun.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, they were called Magic scent. The wax sticks came
in coconut, cherry, and licorice. Now, we already had a
problem with kids eating crayons, and then they made them
food scented, big, big problem.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
By ninety five, they were done.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Okay, they were done. They took them off the market parents.
Obviously at least ten kids documented were eating the crayons,
so they changed the scents to be less appetizing. So brown,
for example, went from chocolate.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
To careful dirt. Ah. Final fun fact for you today,
I wonder if green was like a sparatust.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah right, spinach, grass, green beans?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Are we gonna be here all day? Here we go?
Next fun fact. Portland, Oregon was named by flipping a
coin that's neat rud. Have any more on that?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
I thought you were gonna say poor.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
No, So the other name option was Boston. The two
guys that founded the city one was from Boston, Massachusetts.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
The other from Portland, Maine.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
The guy from Maine won the toss, and now we
have the city of Portland, Oregon.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Now you guys know all that.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
It's the fuck that to the day we make you
look smart in front of your buddies

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
