landing is so that you'll be able to see better
if there's a crash. Emergencies on planes are rare, but

to go wrong, So if anything does happen, there's a
chance that the plane's gonna lose power mode. Dimming the
lights ahead of time lets your eyes adjust so you'll
be able to see better if everything suddenly goes dark.
Makes the exit signs in the emergency lighting more visible.
