The weekly sermon podcast of Sycamore Hill Church - Hockessin Campus. A Gospel Centered community near Wilmington, Delaware. Relevant and thoughtful teaching from God's Word by Pastor Jon Boulet.
When we are far off, there is a Redeemer to rescue us.
When we observe our lives through God's eyes, we can see the ways that he is at work and we can say "Everything is going to be okay."
In milestone-heavy seasons, we need to be all the more spiritually awake so that we cross them well.
When faced with the hardships of this life, Jesus is the one we can cling to, and He is the one who will take us back home.
Increased distance from the Lord is never a solution for the difficulties we face.
A spirit-filled church is not the same as a collective of spirit-filled individuals.
We must be willing to accept that God will allow disruption in our lives to refine us with His Spirit.
Ministry tasks can take on many forms, including things anyone could do, things you are gifted to do, and things you must do. All of them work together for the common good of the church.
When we walk with the Spirit, we can see an outflow of His power through the fruits we bear and the gifts we share.
In the midst of difficulty, can we receive the good through the groaning? Can we walk with the Spirit who advocates for us in perfect alignment with God's will?
How do we KNOW we have received the Spirit? And if we have indeed received Him, why is our spiritual experience seemingly limited?
Christianity is not merely accepting the gift of Jesus' righteousness, but also walking in the Spirit.
Sometimes, ensuring our spiritual house is in order is worth the small discomfort of testing it, lest we be caught asleep.
Compromising our faith is not an option in God's Kingdom.
Let us strive to maintain the faithfulness shown by these churches whom Jesus commends.
Jesus calls the first church to remember and return to their first love.
When reading Revelation, we are best served looking for Jesus, and what we find needn't be reduced to abstract imagery.
God uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary. He entrusts His Kingdom to us, the church.
God is faithful in the big and small things, and we maintain our peace best when our priorities are aligned with his.
