5 декабря Белый дом опубликовал текст новой Стратегии национальной безопасности США. Этот документ закрепляет американские приоритеты во внутренней и внешней политике на ближайшие годы.
Российско-украинской войне в документе посвящен всего один абзац. В нем сказано, что США стремятся к тому, чтобы боевые действия закончились как можно скорее, и надеются на восстановление европейских экономик и «стратегической стабильности» в отношениях с Россией.
В то же время в американской стратегии много резкой критики Европы. США прямо требуют от европейских стран взять на себя ответственность за собственную оборону и заявляют, что намерены остановить расширение НАТО. Помимо этого, США критикуют европейские правительства за их миграционную политику и ограничение политической конкуренции, в первую очередь в отношении правых партий и движений.
