7 января стало известно, что участники массовых протестов в Иране захватили два города — Абданан и Малекшахи.
Протесты в Иране продолжаются с 28 декабря, они начались из-за обвала национальной валюты и огромной инфляции. При этом участники акций протеста также требуют свержения аятоллы Али Хаменеи и пересмотра всей политики исламской республики.
Власти Ирана признали, что экономические проблемы есть, но объяснили их «происками врага». С протестующими, по словам иранских властей, говорить «бесполезно», их хотят «поставить на место».
