Среди тех, кто прилетел в Москву в результате обмена заключенными 1 августа, был разведчик Пабло Гонсалес (он же Павел Рубцов), гражданин России и Испании. Гонсалеса арестовали в Польше в первые дни полномасштабной войны.
Несколько лет он работал под прикрытием как журналист. Гонсалес много общался с российскими оппозиционерами (в том числе с Ильей Яшиным и Владимиром Кара-Мурзой) — и передавал данные о них в Москву. За все это время никто из его знакомых ничего не заподозрил.
